Day 331: Peter Preaches to the Gentiles

"It is day 331 we're reading actually apostles chapter ten for Corinthians chapters one and two, probably chapter 27 versus 21 and 22. The acts of the apostles, chapter ten Peter and Cornelius at caesarea, there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian cohort, a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms liberally to the people and prayed constantly to God. About the 9th hour of the day, he saw clearly in a vision, an angel of God coming in and saying to him, Cornelius. And he stared at him in terror and said, what is it, lord? And he said to him, your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God, and now send men to joppa. And bring one Simon, who is called Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a Tanner, whose house is by the seaside. When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and had about soldier from among those that waited on him, and having related everything to them, he sent them to joppa. The next day, as they were on their journey and coming near the city. Peter went up on the housetop to pray about the 6th hour. And he became hungry and desired something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance, and saw the heaven opened, and something descending, like a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth. In it, were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air. And there came a voice to him, rise Peter, kill and eat. But Peter said, no lord, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean. And the voice came to him again a second time, what God his cleansed, you must not call common. This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.

Don't Be Deceived by Prosperity

"Micah chapter one verse three for behold, the lord is coming out of his place and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth on imagery. God, Micah says, is coming out of his place out of the heavens, and he's going to come down and tread upon the high places of the earth. That's a phrase high places that's used in different parts of scripture to refer to idolatry that had been set up among God's people or to refer to worldly prosperity and power, and that's what's interesting about the context here, in Micah, he's actually speaking prophesying these words in the middle of prosperity among God's people, material prosperity, but they were spiritually bankrupt and Micah knew the judgment and wrath were coming and would come if God's people continued and rebellion against him. And this is one of those places that we see all over the Bible where God warns us not to be lulled to sleep or deceived by prosperity specifically worldly prosperity. Jesus says over and over again that a great reversal is coming. Think about the way he describes the rich man and Lazarus, this rich man who had everything the world could offer and was basically ignoring the poor outside his house and the poor, Lazarus with nothing in this world, and when they find themselves beyond this world, it's a total reversal and this poor man is with the lord and Lazarus in hell. So let's not be deceived by material prosperity in this world, not that material possessions are bad. They're good gifts from God to be used for what will matter forever. And so we pray God to help us to not be deceived by prosperity, comfort, the things of this world, please keep us from thinking that because we have this or that we are secure God, please help us to see the things of this world as you see them to see what matters most in this world and to put our hope in you to find our security in you to put our trust in you.

How Emilio Estevez Got One up on Alec Baldwin

"So Demi Moore though, you were you did wisdom with the Demi Moore. We were engaged. Yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah. No? No, I'm just kidding. No, but I'll tell you. But there's an Alec Baldwin component to this. This is in your new movie? And Alec doesn't even know this. Alex and his latest film does not know this story. Uh oh. Oh. Juicy castle. Do not use this clip. Alec Baldwin does not know the truth of how he came to be known by me. And that is, there was a bunch of us. There was a group of us. It was, you know, Tom Cruise and Sean Penn and so we were all up for the same roles and we, you know, we'd fight it out in some way would get the offer and someone would be in waiting. If that person passed, then you'd step in and we were all sort of kind of interchangeable for a moment. Along comes Alec Baldwin. Right. He's 6 foot something. He's not fucking ridiculously handsome. He's a wonderful actor. And the whole town is abuzz. All your hearing is Alec Baldwin Alec Baldwin. You and Tom Cruise are out slamming tequila. He's a dick. He's too tall. Right. So, Demi and I are engaged. She has a, she's living in a little bungalow that she owns in West Hollywood, and she has to go to the dentist and leaves me a home alone at her house. I sort of for, you know, for the afternoon. Right. Do you remember the days when we used to have the little phone answering machines and had the volume up? Oh, so you could hear it. Of screen calls. Hi. It's Alec Baldwin. Oh, I love this story. Go ahead. The phone rings. The volume's on. Hello to me. It's Alec Baldwin. And he's going on. And I don't know what. I don't know what the relationship is after that point. But I'm her fiance. Did you pick it up? It's Emilio. No. No, no, no. No? No, no. No. I walked over to the machine and I said, interesting. Alec Baldwin just called interesting. Huh. Erase. I hit the erase. And I felt like I had just given him some right hook, a cold cocktail. I knocked out a moment flat he's out overly tall. Done. To this day, I don't know if she ever heard the message or he ever called back.

A Recipe for a Hollywood Fight

"Michael viner was the owner of dove publishing. He had a number of decent books that came out in the 90s, the most famous one was you'll never make love in this town again. And when I was dating Jermaine Jackson's ex-wife, Margaret Maldonado. She was working for him at the time, but for Michael viner. And one day she sneaked me in early copy of this salacious book, and no one had seen it yet, Margaret got the proofs and begged me not to show or tell anyone about it. I said, no, no, I won't. I'm not going to write about it. I just want to read it myself, okay? So I go back to the hotel or wherever I was and start reading this book and the proofs and maybe two years ago, I read a couple of the more filthy chapters on this show. The book contains a bunch of stories written by three prostitutes and one actress about this sexual encounters with a bunch of different Hollywood celebrities. There was a Robin and Liza grier, Linda Hammond, and Alexandra daddy. And inside are all these lurid tales of what these girls discovered while having sex with the likes of Nicholson Warren Beatty, Don Henley, Bruce Willis, Robert Evans, John Claude Van Damme, Mickey Rourke, on and on. And a very, very detailed stories. Whether they're all true or not, I don't know. It's just the horrors point of view. So my jaw was on the floor when I started reading this. A couple of days later, I'm at Evans house for one of his great get togethers. Robert Shapiro, Geraldo Rivera, Jacqueline bessette, Beverly Johnson, Neil sedaka, a lot of luminaries in addition to the dynamic to all of Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty, who are always at Evans house back in the 90s, and now I have all this information inside me bursting out and I don't know that Jack Warren and bob know about this. And then my eyes couldn't believe what I was seeing. The publisher Michael Weiner walks into the party. And he lived a few doors down from heaven, so it kind of made sense, but I know all this information from the book he published and I grabbed Margaret and I go, what the fuck is he doing here? She's like, what's the big deal? I go, he's publishing a book about what a few hookers have to say about a few of the men at this party. But balls on this guy,

"President Biden vacationing in Nantucket for the Thanksgiving holiday, spoke out against a recent spate of mass shootings in the country and calls on Congress to do more to limit assault weapons. 6 people killed in a southeast Virginia Walmart 5 dead in Colorado Springs in just a week and President Biden says more must be done to prevent these killings from taking place. The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. It's just sick. He tells reporters he'll take it to Congress, even though the sessions almost over and Democrats soon lose control of the House. Meanwhile, the president reached out to the owners of club Q in Colorado Springs, offering support and condolences, while a worker at the Virginia Walmart, whose life was spared, says she doesn't think the victims were randomly chosen. You Have An Environment That's Allowing Interest Rates to Go Higher

"An environment that's allowing interest rates to go higher. The Federal Reserve doesn't love it, right? Because they see they see already that there's some signs of a pullback. It's pretty obvious. I mean, just look at all the companies one after another after another that tell us they are planning more layoffs or they have hiring freezes. I've said before, kind of interesting that it all came out literally the day after midterms. Hey, Republicans still won the House. But there's a lot at stake as we move forward into the future. And look, I haven't even gotten to Thanksgiving yet. Which, by the way, is much more expensive this year. Much more expensive. We talked about that the other day. I mean, upwards of over 20% for a meal. But I will say this, I will say this. There is still, I think, a lot that we can be very grateful for. I am very much glass half full. I look at opportunities every single day as an investor, I like the idea that you know what for a change, you can actually get a little yield. I've been going on about the I bomb the savings bond for a long time. It was upwards of 9% last year. It's still a decent rate this year. You can find these opportunities.

Paul Ryan supports him, then you know what he is. Yeah, Tom, I can confirm that information. Paul Ryan and a lot of the other moderate Republicans are supporting Kevin McCarthy, and I hope that the house rate of caucus is going to be able to maintain their numbers again, McCarthy has to have 218 votes to become Speaker of the House and we understand he does not have those numbers yet and a number of lawmakers according to congressman Norman said that say that they are not going to be announcing their vote until the day of the vote.

Supreme Court Greenlights the Release of Trump Tax Records

"Going on here. I mean, you look at what's happening here with the Supreme Court, just this week now saying that they're not going to block a House committee from getting their hands on those tax returns, which is apparently kind of a final defeat, right? Because the president and former president have been trying over and over and over again to prevent this from happening, his argument has been all along that this is a political witch hunt. They're trying to use this for political purposes and they're not going to stop. I mean, it's amazing how much he has angered the other side. I think it's political enemies are hoping that they can somehow prove this conflict of interest between what he had going on within his business and what he was doing as president of the United States. And if they can prove that, they can sort of point the lines to a money trail that may somehow indict him in some way. I mean, we're standing the fact that so many of these presidents have really kind of maximized the whole money trial thing. After the fact, of course, I guess in their defense, it was after the fact, right? So whether it be Bill Clinton getting all kinds of deals and setting up the whole Clinton global initiative after the fact it was after the fact, I would still argue that it's pretty murky. It's pretty suspicious. Some of the relationships and the money that has changed hands within that whole CGI environment, but they're trying to suggest that the president was using his office for financial gain. If they could prove that, then that would be a pretty big win for the Democrats. And should theoretically completely exclude him from being able to run again in 2024, which is the plan right now because you heard him the other night, he announced his candidacy. I would say, and if you look at some of the polls right now, he's way ahead. I've told people this before I do think that if he is successful with being able to go through with this run, I mean, if the Democrats don't take him down on these fraud charges, then you're probably looking at the Republican Party, nominee, being Donald Trump, because the base loves him, and it would be very hard for, say, Ron DeSantis or any of the others to kind of come out of the woodwork and take the mantle, so to speak from Donald

The Importance of Golf Facilities in College Golf

"Circling back to the facility thing in D.C.. We had one when I was at LSU. And that was kind of that was 15 years ago. That was pretty much when the facilities that golf facilities, the first class, $1 million facilities for these power 5 schools, pretty much everyone had one at that point. When I was getting recruited tech had one, LSU had one Texas had one up on the state. I had one Baylor. Everybody had one. And you had to, right? To get these recruits. But it's not the facility. The potting group private potting green or the private driving range were just the team members and the big donors can go. It's really not that. What I used at most or was a place where I could go and just kind of be alone. These kids, these kids from TCU, they don't have, you know, others in their own where they live, their house, or whatever. They don't have a place where they can just go hang out with their teammates and know that it's just going to be their teammates, right? Somewhere where they have a locker. Somewhere where they can go and watch a football game where it's just going to be them, they know that. No one else is going to walk into the 19th hole and stare at them at Mira vista or colonial or shady, like what are these guys doing in my 19th hole? They're not supposed to be in here. And that's a big deal. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but when you're 18 years old and you're kind of searching for friends and want a group to hang out with, you need somewhere to go and feel like you belong, right? It's a sense of belonging these kids want when they're that young and they're becoming men that they don't have right now. And if they do, when they do, I guarantee you TCU with the courses they have access to around here, they'll be a much better program. They'll be able to get better players from America. I'm not saying these European foreign kids are bad or anything, but you got to recruit Texas. Especially around here. If you're TCU in that facility, you'll help.

"To be thankful for this week. Including Anthony Fauci, no longer being in our government. Now I haven't seen the last of Anthony Fauci. I got to tell you. We got to get him back in front of Congress. We got to get this leadership fight figured out. We got to get committees filled, and then we got to start sending subpoenas out like frisbees. To every single one of these people. Fauci gave his final message today at The White House play cut 69. So my message and my final message may be the final message I give you from this podium is that please, for your own safety for that of your family, get your updated COVID-19 shot as soon as you're eligible to protect yourself, your family and your community. This guy never stops. Paid to you by Pfizer AstraZeneca Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Fauci continues. He says the real danger is those of us that have not been vaccinated. Play cut 72. In vaccinated and unboosted versus vaccinated plus boosted. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get boosted, but the real danger is in the people who have not been vaccinated. So that's where we expect if we're going to see a problem this winter, it's going to, yeah, if you see a problem, it's going to be the unvaccinated people. Doctor Anthony Fauci is the worst of the fourth branch of government. There has to be a mandate for this new Republican House of Representatives. Sometimes they'll say, you can't be insured unless you replace the roof. Yeah, 100% like you might, especially with the real estate market the way that you'll buy a house with the bad roof And then your insurance Asian will come out and you absolutely place replaced so that you must be doing a lot of those. Then we have. And so when it's not an insurance job, how difficult is it? I mean, Is it a difficult sale, or you've seen you've seen the prices of materials? Yeah, So what are roofs compared to what they were, Let's say five years ago, at least 30%. Higher up to 50 50% higher material wrapped, So I mean what used to go for a $11,000 roof? We're seeing $12,000 come out, and that's if you don't have decking. I mean plywood win up to 70 bucks a sheet at some point. I just can't believe that that would that would put the roof three times as much. Yeah, And so what? What should have happened as people should have filed a claim, or at least had it inspected when the last storms come through and paid at $2000 deductible, but instead They're They're going to be out $12,000 because they didn't want to get when you go to buy a home or sell a home. But trolley does inspections by the way, and they'll tell you and and and don't buy a house thinking you're getting a great deal or over. You'll never get a great deal now, But you buy a home thinking, Okay? I bought the home. You better figure on getting a roof. If patrol intelligence. You need a roof because he could be. You're not going to get You're not going to get insured without it. Okay? Petrolia roofing. We'll talk more. If you have any questions, John, What do you have to say about the vaccine mandates now we don't really have an all over mandate, but Some areas do some areas. Don't What do you think about vaccine mandates? I'm not a fan. I mean, this. This vaccine is not like other vaccines. It's a new It's a new type of technology. If you're going to acquire that people to give vaccines to protect others, which are really requiring is that they're carrying anti bodies. And so when the data eventually shows that eight months, 10 months, 12 months it fades. Are you going to require boosters over and over? We're going to shut down the country again and just continue this So I guess, um well, I think yeah. I think they are going to require boosters. I think we have not seen the end of government mandated health care in general. I mean, preventive care. Look at masking. We social distancing handwashing vaccines. Uh, we have will never go back to normal. I've said that at the very beginning, but I think you don't have to be a genius to say that. Do you ever see us, John going back to just normal? I mean, normal concerts, sporting events and all of that, just without thinking about disease and pathogens, it'll never happen. You know you make a good point. But as long as they keep pointing the finger, the people who are unvaccinated is the reasons why we're not having these sporting events in our restaurants are closing and things like that. You know, Eventually, it might scare enough people into doing that. Are you vaccinated, John? I am not vaccinated. You know further, my body builds immunities to an earlier variant strain. I'm wondering, I'm wondering when people you know. Listen, I totally respect people's choice. Okay, I really do. And and I also really respect choice when it comes to getting sick. You know if people get sick and die They get sick and die. I mean, if they made a choice to live a certain way. Go ahead. And then those who don't want to or are fearful then you can wear your mask and socially distance and isolate yourself. I mean, I don't see why we can't just let everybody live the way they want. Now again. I know what people are thinking. Well, Tom, they're going to affect me. You know if they're unvaccinated or they're unsafe, they're going to affect me. That's not fair to me. But if you protect yourself And somebody doesn't protect their self You'll be protected. If you're vaccinated, you should be protected by your own standards. If someone is not vaccinated and you are, you are protected. The part I don't understand is how do we get How do we ever truly get a strong.

"Can be found at lumber update dot com shannon goes into sometimes excruciating detail about sustainable forest management and international regulation of the lumber trade. He makes the same point. You mentioned patrick about the economic interest of those who own and control tropical plantation forest. He says that there are many people are trying to do the right thing and manage plantation sustainably but if environmentally conscious buyers decided to boycott all tropical would a decisions perhaps and foreign by an unstated assumption that forests in certain parts of world couldn't possibly be managed responsibly than paradoxically glee. We end up increasing the economic pressure on plantation owners to clear cut the land and raise cattle so yes. Diligence is required when buying tropical would. You shouldn't buy e pay being sold out of the back of a pout proverbial van but we don't swear off tropical wood in the name of environmental responsibility in fact doing so might end up contributing to the problem rather than the solution. Okay now he says. I have a question related to installing foam insulation on top of roof. Sheathing which you discussed. Most recently in episode three seventy four are nineteen fifty-six cape cod style. Home is ready for a new roof and adding exterior insulation. Seems like a great way not only to correct the problem of our attic work but also address ice. Damming that happens most winners. I have two questions related to this topic. Does this approach to. Insulation makes sense on complex reuss beside three doors valleys where. The roofs of who different editions intersect with the original cape footprint. Do you have any suggestions on how to talk with potential roofers about this job every time. This topic has come up on the podcasts somewhat has mentioned that is hard to find roofers willing to do this type of work. I did receive an initial. Yes we can do that. Response the other day from a reputable roofer in our area. But i'm still trying to connect with them to talk in more detail. As i understand that there are enough turkey details involved that i can't try to specify every detail what would need to be done. I need to be able to rely on their expertise. But what questions. Can i ask upfront and determine whether this company who i am confident our expert roofers generally has the building expertise to successfully take on this project. I appreciate any suggestions and thanks so much for your always interesting and informative podcast best regards. Brian state college pennsylvania. You guys with me so did get this question all the time. Let's start with that and then we're going to get into someone who knows more about this. Andy actually contract with someone to do this very thing and then i'm gonna read his email but honestly i need a break from reading because it's a lot more is your prescription. Why do we get this question. Why do we got this as a solution. And then why do we get this question of people having difficulty getting this done. I think one of the reasons that it is There were talking so much about it is because Insulating air sealing existing. Roofs are challenge is challenging for many reasons. One of them is one of the reasons is that Roof framing on older houses often doesn't have Even even if your space was unfinished. Reframing often doesn't have adequate space for adequate insulation so the question is not you know You can be if you if you want to bring your installation in your thermal envelope up to the roof plane adequate space in your rafters. You can have event in assembly with any kind of installation you want and you can put in a good air barrier on the inside any appropriate vapor control and you go but not not. Many roofs are framed with adequate space in there for that for having a you know a inch or to invent space plus the installation. You need to get to never mind. Never mind like energy efficiency but even code minimums So the so. it's always. how do i get an appropriate amount of insulation into my room. And then there's also the situation and some people may now if their houses finish if the roof is finished on the inside already like like cape they may not want tear the inside of their house apart if they're reroofing the nominal disruption of your life. Right it's absolutely it's your ceiling. Is your walls upstairs. That it's the entire home. I answer the question of complex roofs. Greatly complicate this product project. Yes thickness of the roof when you do the outs deletion is what chips people up. It's a huge obstacle. Right is is something you have to resolve. You can't have like a facial boards that are sixteen inches or even twelve fifteen inches thick wide giving yet now now at dorms today that right and thinking the walls of those doors in one of the one of the eve rake details look like on the doors even enough space there to add. Never mind never mind that beefing up those details so it. It becomes very complex on a complex roof. I think if you dorms. It's impossible really. It's just like how can you resolve that weirdness. Well martin's article on how to add ruth and Rigid foam insulation to the to your roof outside as includes a photograph. And i don't know if he gets really into the weeds on it but there's a nice detailed drawing explains how to resolve some of those things and then The the photos that he's showing include of roof with dormer and there's specifically like where the dorm meets the roof sheathing so it's not like it can't be done. I'm sure it's very complicated. But martin writes about it. What other things about this about this letter. What this letter points to is that you know on their he. I believe mentioned that. He's talking to a roofing company and so roofing companies are very good at at installing roofing. And very good at reroofing but this adding adding insulation adding trim details adding extending overhangs adding sheathing. That's not roofing right. Now that's grouping work. It's also not so it's not roofing work. It's not work. That many contractors are used to doing so. Who knows how to do this right. Who knows how to do it. Well well i was wondering if he should consult with an architect and get plans. And i think what he should do is listen to andy who who i'm gonna read next. Because and he's been through this and he in great detail explains his trials and tribulations getting this done. And i wanna thank you for doing this. Because i'm sure this took a long time to write this and i'm going to do my best to get through it folks here. We go deer fine building podcasters and episode three seventy four. You asked listeners to write and if they have any experience with external foam on their home boy. Do i every time i hear brian mentioned that you. I need to find a willing to install it. I want to reach out and high five in in agreement. It was quite an undertaking to get.

"Leak detection using electric detection tool. Please see the league. Track two thousand four hundred from anderson leak detection. The light fixture is the largest source of interference. The back of the light niche is an amazing ground. Okay benjamin so. I had to look up all this stuff. Thank you for your thoughts here. And i don't think you're an idiot at all. I think he's on to the right thing here anyway. So the the league track is this device used to find leaks and vinyl. Swimming pool liners and what it does is. It creates a little electric field. That you then go around the pool with and you can detract down a leak. It's a pretty amazing piece of kit. That can cost several to grand so Very special thing but apparently The light is always Got a good bonding ground. So that's why it doesn't shock people even if it's completely malfunctioning. That was interesting right This comes from our front my curtain. Hi patrick. I usually listen to the podcast and appreciate that. You make it a point to describe the photos that reader send in. I had to go to the podcast page to see the substandard deck guardrail post attachment. After your description it drives me nuts to see dangerous work. The poster matt noted that the builder amount of the post this way in order to keep from puncturing the water collection system. It's obvious that the builder doesn't read or follow directions. This is clearly illustrated by the use of decking screws on the post base an angle brackets and the photos only properly sized nails or the hardware manufacturers meadow. Connector screws can be used in hardware in the case of the tracks under dhec drainage system. Rain escape the tracks. Website is a series of videos that clearly explained how to install the drainage system including two video specifically demonstrating how to flash rain escape around a post that structurally mounted to the deck framing and the simplest solution doesn't even require any- flashing the post can be fastened to the outside face of the deck slashed balcony and avoid the drainage system altogether on a parallel note the irs has not until now include any mention of how secure a deck guard post so many builders are left to their own to figure out an attachment system the debt code portion of the twenty twenty one. Irc has a new section dedicated to guard post connections. It requires the guard loads be transferred to the deck framing with a continuous lloyd path to the deck joyce okay so The g- joists that opposed fasten to has to be connected to the adjacent post to prevent the joyce from rotating think blocking between the joyce and the blocking can't rely on fasteners driven into end grain. Would that are subject to withdraw while a little vague. At least it. Lets us know that the code is taking guard post attachment seriously and hopefully inspectors start looking more closely as you noted the american went councils. Dca six guide has details as you hardware and structural screw manufacturers like some strong tie fast and master and mitek. Wow thanks mike. that was. That was alarming. Did you see these post attachments. Brian where you on that episode. No kylie you did right. It came from gpa. So this guy's deck post were just completely scarily. Attached and his solution was to tell the folks whose home he was building was to watch their kids when they were out on the deck. It's fascinating you know. I had a. I had a rebuilt a a deck that had deck posts installed with drywall. Screws and And you know it's it's it's appalling right and at the same time. I tried really hard to tear those posts off. And i couldn't i couldn't count on one hand. It was like. I said it on the one hand. I was appalled by assembling on the other hand. I was like. Wow this is this disconnections pretty strong. But but i think there's you know there's there are simple steps to get obviously to get much better deck post connections than that and i'm curious about that that note that in mike's comments about the irs. And i love to go in there now and read that if you can't if you need blocking and you can't fasten and grain than basically were requiring metal fasteners. Am i missing way to do it. They wouldn't require some sort of so. I can't think of a way you you wouldn't be able to fasten into the end grain of the blocking right but the joist fastening in the end grain. And the joyce that does seem kind of dodgy. Right from a structural say a stands absolutely. Yeah so we never done a story on this or no. We have excellent excellent stories on it and we know we know we know how to do it right. I'm i'm curious about really what the code says. They kind of i believe they mandate a force of force resistance requirement. Right your deck. Guardrails need to stand up to three hundred pounds of lateral load or something like that. It's four hundred four hundred yeah But but until recently haven't told you how to do it so i think what the people did is. They watched mike curtains video. Fine home building on this sided to do that right. Okay so This comes from chris. Patrick i love the conversation. You had with jason economists and three seventy nine as an american who lived in the antipodes. I just wanted to clear up some slang made the easy. One is cbd which isn't a pot product but the central business district. The other one was the concept of suburb to anyone. Outside of north america. Suburb means neighborhood not necessarily separate town or city. That concept took me a while to get my head around. This is a map of sydney's suburbs to give you. The idea cheers chris. It was great fun talking to jason. You guys that was. That was super awesome. Got him up in the middle of the night. To record a podcast. That was fun. Boy okay so. I told you guys ahead of the show that this is our kind of roof themed episode and i apologize to you and to all of our listeners. We have some very long emails. But i'm just going to say that these folks know a lot more about this subject and we do and if you really want to dig into this subject stay tuned. If you don't i would say save your our and do something else are hello patrick and crew. I have a comment and a question. Both related the topics discussed recently on the podcast. I and episode three seventy six. He discussed sustainability concerns regarding the use of e pay. I don't have first hand experience expertise in that question but for anyone interested in the topic. I'd recommend shannon rogers podcast shannon's lumber industry update which can be found at lumber update dot com shannon goes into sometimes excruciating detail about sustainable forest management and international regulation of the lumber trade. He makes the same point. You mentioned patrick about the economic interest of those who own and control tropical plantation forest. "When you are selling your home, we want as much light as possible. But if you are looking for energy savings, you do want to close the drapes in the funniest parts of your home. Which is why every time I get when I get home after the Shug upstairs change, but more were closed on the first order of business. I do when I go in our bedroom is Close all the blinds that you have open. I know because I like the light, right? But you never remember to close them when you leave. So then it's like, hot inside there, and I was like, Okay, there's my money. So anyway, all right. You got that two. Here's a another tip for you. What do you do with the fan on the thermostat? Because you have a fan setting on this. This is really Wait the fans setting on the A C or the ceiling fans and I don't care. What do you wanna talk about? Whatever. Faneuil, let's start. Let's start with the A C. So on the A C unit, you have a choice between auto and on for the fans setting off so Right. Don't turn it off. No, You definitely don't want to turn it off. But what would you say? Auto are on for. So Here's how Here's typically the recommendation Is this. Okay? So, um, some older use have actually can have call installed was called a summer switch on the furnace itself, which keeps the fan running the bypass. So in the summer, you want the fan on all the time? Whole house, especially if you have newer systems where they have, you know, Bi or tri level of fan speeds and things like that. It's meant to run all the time in what happens, then is that it takes. Basically, that's 72 degree air 78 degree air circulated through the whole house. They have a better chance of the the warmer rooms cooling off more. Because it balances it all takes that air and recycles it and the winter because heat rises typically at night, you're sleeping and you know upstairs, and he's going to come from the furnace through the fence and everything rises. Opposite. You don't need the fan hunt unless you feel like cold spots or something you could, I suppose. Turn it on in there, but you don't generally don't want that that breeze blowing around where in the summer. It's different. Keep so in the summer. Keep the fan on all the time. And in the winter, turning off or just having an auto. Rather, I should say so in the furnace kicks, and it goes well, And here's the thing. I do think it depends on the age of your unit because The information that I have is keeping your fan on auto is going to be the most energy efficient option. So I think you know, it really does make sense for you to talk to your Apollo or whoever is doing the heating and you should be having your A C system cleaned and checked at least once a year twice and be the best. Well, you're going to have the heat heating system tested in the winter or in the fall, and then you're going to have the A C unit, usually in the spring. Get that checked and tuned up and making sure that everything is running efficiently. Some of the older systems seriously because there are some a C units that are still cranking at 20 years. And if that's the case, some of those actually require they prefer. I don't know if I'm not going to ask the ace unit what it prefers, but I've been told that if the fan is set to auto, it actually gives the cooling coils time to drip and drain when the fan is not on continuously. So I do think it makes sense for you to have a relationship with your A C person or your h back person and find out what kind of system you have. And what's best in your home for your situational on that, too, where you get condensation and like now, that's typically you're making sure you have clean filters. Because not only use efficiency it it's strange, the motor. It's strange, everything and not all of that. You also have you ever seen the outside the condenser unit Looks like it's frozen and as frost all over it, Um Usually usually, the start of that is a dirty filter. Because the system stranding you can't exchange that hot air for surprising so that clean and check and and a new filter at all times. Is the most energy efficient thing that you can do in your home and it can help your system last longer. So, like I said, I have gone into so many homes and they're like, What can I do before my home inspection? What's the best thing that I can do? I said, Well, when was the last time that you actually changed your air filter in your furnace? And a lot of times? People are like you mean you have to replace that. I have pulled out some some filters that are little you cannot. There's no airflow whatsoever. And so obviously that is a strain on your system. It's going to make your system really not lose money. And then it breaks down more often, right? Right. Exactly. So definitely and even I reminded our kids yesterday. So like, okay, when was the last time Because your filter, Hannah says, Well, what? I don't think my aces working that good. Uh, my new filter unit. It's only a couple years old Filter new film. Is, um is in top form because, you know, getting a new friend. You look at the back up for stuff. I don't know if there's a furnace back up right now, our H V a C back up, because if those things go out, you know we've seen like, for example, all the cars inspired on the F 1 50 sitting there waiting for computer chips. Crazy. Um, You know what happens if it's 95 degrees out, And now you you're gonna put in a I don't know. A six week Wait list for air conditioner. That's that's not going to be comfortable for you. No, it's not, but I highly recommend the service contract. Absolutely. I do, too. I've always recommended that And I think that it's a It's a good selling feature. If you have been doing that over the years, you know if you go down to your furnace, and you look at The service history and you haven't had. You know it hasn't been too clean, checked or even looked at for 5 10 years. That's a problem. So you know, before you put your home on the market, that's one of the suggestions that I make all of the time is have a professional. Come out. Look at it, Check it, get it to its optimal. Performance and all that good stuff, and it does. It pays for itself to? Yep, it does. So the other thing we can talk about about keeping cool is the ceiling fans. A lot of us have very, very strong feelings about ceiling fans, especially in the bedrooms. Some people love the fan on and in the bedrooms. Some people hate it. Some people are ceiling fan people. Some people are chandelier, people. They are and you know I am a ceiling fan Person person. I love the break. It's nothing better because you fall asleep in his little breeze. Blowing is great. Right. So the ceiling fan right now in the summer, and some people don't know there's a little switch on the ceiling fan. Some people put the ceiling fan up and they turn it on, and they turn it up. You know, they turned it off, maybe in the winter because they don't want to feel the the cold air coming down. But the ceiling fan should rotate counterclockwise in the summer, so those blades do push the cooler air down. It actually makes the room feel colder. Feel cooler because you have that breeze. It doesn't actually change. The temperature in the room, but it feels that's that feels like number right. It feels a little cooler. It's your wind chill. It is. It's the wind chauffeur. Summer If I set my thermostat where I wanted it at 65 turn the fan on at high speed. We definitely have window like negative wind chill values of the T deeds. The flowing bedroom. It's good. That's what I need exactly so and you know when I have a hot flash in the middle of the night, right? I've got it's hot. It's cold. It's hot. It's cold. It's that's just life in the in the world of being a woman old, right? Um yeah, well, that too. Yeah. So the sand but very few people turn the ceiling fan switch down, which I don't know. I Don't think if we ever had because I just kind of like the breeze blowing, but, um, nonetheless, that's certainly some else. You can adjust it. Yeah, it's on really low in the winter because we can get under the covers or whatever. Alright, anything else you've got really wanted. Maximize. Okay, So how about your vents? Your Air Ducks definitely should also be cleaned out. Maybe once a year, once every couple years, depending.

She says Be totaled without being salvaged. Is that possible? Yes. But even if it was, it's still Had to be disclosed. "Feelings are I think what they used to call popcorn. Thanks. Yep. Yep. Good feeling and the last maybe months to two months. I've had such a film over everything in my home. And I'm thinking it's coming from those feelings and I'm wondering if that's dangerous and To be breathing in. Burning house in it. None at all. And I have radiant heat, so I don't have a furnace blowing. And you have a film. It is a film. In fact, I didn't few investigating setups and even leaving it on my phone overnight. You'll see the little you'll see some dust particles. And I'm just concerned about breathing that in Um okay. So the popcorn ceiling above this ceiling? Is this an attic space? No, it's actually the cement panels from the unit upstairs. You're in a 10 year next year in a condo in a condo. Um, well, let's do this then. And when is the last time that ceiling was painted? At 2000 and Exchanges 17 When the gentleman remodeled it, Okay on do you have? Do you have multiple rooms in this condo? I do, and the only room that have that film with the rooms that don't have that popcorn ceiling, like the closets, bathrooms, the laundry, which makes you think it's that? Well, I mean, so my first thing is when when you look at it If it looks sound that you're not seeing anything like literally if you look at it like, well, it looks okay. You know, it's not like there's a big patch missing. But if it's starting to get a little decay, and you're just getting some particulate through their first of all, I don't think it's dangerous. I mean, you certainly don't want that stuff to be in your lungs. So I mean, but it's not asbestos or anything like that. So I wouldn't worry about that. You may be able to solve the problem by just painting the ceiling. And sealing it up. And so it could just be that starting to break apart a little bit, And that's where you're getting a little bit of flake. And my point was, is that if you had a room where you where you have this, and you could just paint the ceiling as a test Use a thick napped roller and some ceiling paint. I mean, that's really all you have to do, I would paint me. Maybe if you could take a broom lightly just to see if you can lightly brush it So you don't damage the ceiling and then had the ceiling painted with ceiling paint to seal it back up. You're going to know pretty quick. If that is the solution to it all, because then you can do your investigation. You're testing that you just did to see what's there if you're unsuccessful. Then maybe you have to remove that ceiling. Another thing that you could consider is maybe doing some type of whole room and or whole house Air purifier. I just did a thing on WGN TV and Friday about whole House. Air purifiers we posted. We posted the video on my Facebook page. If you want to look at it, there's three really good units. They're not inexpensive. They They're anywhere started $300 and go all the way up toe over $700. But one of them will do up to 1500 Square feet, And that would do a really good job of making.

"W g and R Quick the name Ada s McKinley. Do you know who she was? The name is familiar, but maybe you don't know the story. Jamal Malone is on the phone line. He's the CEO of eight s. McKinley community Services, Jamal, thanks for talking to us today. See you. Thank you for having me. It's a fantastic well, it's a sad story in many ways, but a fantastic one. A zwelithini s McKinley founded a Southside settlement house in 1919. Here we are talking about Um, you know, we're living through this pandemic. She helped people through the last pandemic. Absolutely. And, you know, this is the opportunity for us. The correct a tragic historic oversight. So thank you. And thank you for the media for helping us get this message across. Yeah. Tell me about her. How she got started who She was. So a to Sofia McKinley migrated from Texas to Chicago and in 1919, right in the middle of the Spanish flu in the face of World War one and with an emphasis on helping and particular African American men and their families migrating from the south to Chicago, she founded the Southside Settlement House. And as you may be aware, other well known folks like Jane Adams, who started Whole House and other organizations like that these Locations where it started for community service and human service works. And these were the first ones at this time. So, but Jane Jane Adams is a Chicago celebrity a star aid as McKinley sounds like she was doing the same work and she's not And we're thankful for professors Lee and Dieter, who spent three years going from research to help supplement our historic archives and what they discovered in their research, which we already New is that mainly due to media at the time and Chicago being such a segregated place at that time, and even still so today? The media really honed in on the work of Jane Adams even know what they did was parallel, and it asked. McKinley's was more everlasting and specifically when you look at the contributions that 80 Sofia McKinley made it just was not written in the history books. There were no major streets named after her and even media reports or publicity was very limited Their African American women at that time mothers the story I was reading. I'm sure you're familiar with it, but Um, where she was marching arm in arm with Jane Adams after the race rights right to try to bring calm and restore order and things like that she's leading this march with Jane Adams. And in the newspaper. They identify Jane Adams and they see walking with black woman. They don't even put her name in the paper. And so when you look at some of the reports, you know, so I mentioned her name. Some didn't some mentioned Jane Adams. What? They all mentioned Jane Adams and Whole House and gave her that high level of standing. Jane Adams taking the lead on that, But really, when you're walking through an African American community neighborhoods? Yes, it was Jane Adams when she was arm in arm with Anna Sophia McKinley. And that's an example of the media at the time really honing in on Caucasian females, even though they were African American females doing the exact Same work. You know, I talked to a novelist. A few years ago, a guy named Kazuo Ishiguro and he opened my eyes to something it distance. Impossible me, But he said, you know, we write our own stories. You know, you tend to think history is what it is, and we learned the facts of it, but actually, we end up writing our own stories in one way or another, And the story we've written about these aid institutions in Chicago are about giant Jane Adams. And not about eight as McKinley. We've written our own story. We've left an important part out of it. You know it, really thanks to understand what we do today and in the complex work for 102 years that we've performed when you look at just the facts.

We have contacts there so we can help a little. But what exactly do they need you to bring with you, Danny? He went about them. Okay, they they want to bring his birth certificate. But he didn't need his purse certificate to get the idea. So we thinking everything else we can from identity of y'all for identification for his birth certificate. The on Lee thing they say they will take Yeah, There's only thing that changes will take But wait a minute. Don't even open the door. I mean, his pictures on the frickin idea, For Christ sakes. I'm pretty sure they could identify him, Suzanne, if? Well, they're not supposed to do that. But, Suzanne, if he didn't need his birth certificate to get it. Isn't that weird That he needs it to pick it up? I don't get it. Well, you've probably renewed online or something. Right? Huh? How did he apply for? What is this An expired ideas that what it is? It was a brand new one. He went in in person to get the idea. Okay, So what did you percent? When did when did he go in person for that? I'm a little over a month ago and he went in and he took. They used his insurance papers for the insurance. What else? A fingerprint and a piece of mail and then okay and fingerprinted piece of mail. And then, when he went back, he needed a birth certificate. And they said you can't get in without a birth certificate. We have a contact. We can ask about it. We can ask about a listen if it really is coming down to 50 bucks. Truly If your story checks out, we'll help you get your will help you him get birth certificate. If that truly is the only problem, But let us check. No, no, we will help you. I mean, truly, if if if he wants to work that bad, and he truly just needs a birth certificate, all of that. Let's get on this thing. I'm not gonna let $50 hold you up, but I want to first ask our contact at D M. V. So it costs 50 bucks to get a birth certificate. Is that the problem you having? Because Because what I would do is I would go online. Have ants go online with him, And then we would just put in. We would just give him payment information and pay it for him. But here here's the deal, though. I want to verify it. Sure. I want to get his information if we could. And we want to do just a little check on you to make sure you're legit. And then we will help you. Okay, one way or the other. I'd like to ask the M V. Why would you have to use get a birth certificate to pick it up, but not to apply for it? That just baffles me. That really does baffle me. Let's talk now to Zachary. Zach, what's happening? Hi there. Hey, that's what's happening. So I recently yesterday with the experience of Having my car. "8772134 Lou, this is Ted and Forest Hill. He, Ted. Well, thank you very much. Good morning. Morning. If I knocked down or contractors knock down some of the load bearing walls in my house, I have a three story attached house and they put Paul's up. How do I know the house is gonna fall down on me? Well, I mean, are we tell me about the project? Did you have an architect design and draw and we're getting permits for all this? Well, they're getting permits. I don't know if I didn't have an architect. Now they're like contractors. Right. But I mean, here's the thing, Ted, if they're going to get a permit and taking down a load bearing wall The village or city that you live in is going to need some sort of load calculation. And that's going to have to come from either an engineer, an architect for the city to sign off on that. So here's my only concern. I don't know who you're hiring. But if they're like, Oh, yeah, we're gonna get a permit. We want to make sure that they're not going to get a permit. For something else, but then doing this other work does that make sense? Yes, it does. I'd better keep my eyeballs open and ears and making good luck. So any time in particular when we're talking about structural work That is going to happen inside the home. I mean, what you just described is absolutely possible. I mean, people, you know, Say I've got load bearing walls. I can't move that. Sure you can under the right circumstances with the right supports and And everything being calculated the right way, but that requires An architect, signature and or building engineer for the city or village to give out a permit for that work, And so if these contractors You know, are going to go get that and say to you. Hey, Ted, Here's you know, I had this architect do these calculations. This is what we're going to do. There's got to be a stamp on that permit. Don't want the permit that show up at your house in the window, and it says, Oh, we're just putting in new windows and that's what we got The permit for. So we put the window up so that we keep the city from bothering us. Because The interior work. They're never going to see this is not anything to mess around with because exactly what you just said. I don't want the house to fall down. Well, I just better watch out. Thank you for your help You say God bless you. God has blessed. Thank you very much. I appreciate you calling this morning. I'll take that 8772134 Luke Lindsey nods. She'll take that 28772134568. This is Ron up in Westchester. Hey, Ron. Good morning Urine. How smarts radio. Good morning, Lou. I mean, help. You have a problem, Okay? They always get the timing is everything And I'm glad your show is on this morning up here in Westchester County. We had Perfect storm the other day, and I've been without our since Thursday. Thursday night into Friday morning, I heard about a lot of power outages up in Westchester County that happened on Christmas Day. That's exactly right. And unfortunately in the past I've had water damage from IEDs person and I just want to know what I conducive to prevent that from happening out. Don't have a generator. I mean, so here's the thing. You know that whole kind of area that Westchester area just so prone to power outages. I hear about it all the time, right? And even if it's it's only two hours are only it's six hours, or are you still without power? Or you have it back. I'm still listed. No, I'm still without power. I've lost power three o'clock in the morning. Thursday night into Friday morning. So we're at the estimated time of restoration is about 11 o'clock tonight, and the Tempest is alot. Yeah. Okay, So a couple things. Um, certainly you could buy Two ways to do this to kind of hedge your bets. The most effective way is to have a whole house standby generator installed. Now the issue there is it's not an inexpensive proposition. You know, this could be anywhere from Ah From a 5 to $10,000 installation, depending On what you want the generator to do. Now, if it's just I want the furnace to run in a couple of circuits. You can probably down. Be down at the 5 $6000 Mark and you know it'll be set up to your d of natural gas to the house. No, it's all right. It's all electric. Okay, well, you may so then you're gonna probably have a unit. That's approach that's run by propane With the tank and s O that one. The power goes out within 30. Seconds. The backup power kicks on and you're good to go. The other thing you could do is, um you could better buy a decent size portable generator having electrician's install what's called a Transfer switch where you need to be home to do all this, but then they could wire The they could wire the electric radiators or, you know, a couple other key components where there'd be a plug on the outside of the house. You would throw a switch like you're almost like you're bringing Frankenstein back to life and and you'd throw. You throw that switch, And then you plug this thing in outside, you'd fire up the Generator. But all of that means you have to be home when this occurs, right? And honestly, if the budget allows, you know when you're going to stay in this house for a while. You know, the whole house back up generator is the better way to go in my opinion. Okay. Is there anything I can do now? Like a portable heaters just to keep the pipes from freezing since I don't have a generator? Well, okay..

They've been always doing it wrong and how many people have been built in properly? So listen. And insurance code. Is a three number right? Three digit. I don't know how many did you or whatever. But it's specific caught right. Five. What do you think Robert? The incentive was for them to bill it as a regular dental checkup, as opposed to S specialty. They didn't want to take my insurance period, so they wanted a church full price. So, but I don't get it Did they? Would they have gotten more money by coding it for a regular visit? You know, that's the funny part. I even told him. I said you get more money. This which decoded to a specialist, and they still wouldn't listen. Hey, Robert, But now that you've found us on, of course you knew us before anyway, Thank you for calling. And I'm sorry. It took me so long to see your tweet. When this first all happened in our kids started getting older. I watched Mark and he bought his kids a new car. And I said, Why are you doing that? Why are you buying him a clunker? And, uh and then we analyze the cost with several people after that, and we actually found out that buying a new car is actually the smartest thing to do. Especially when you get a new car like a Hyundai for under 15 grand most the time and you get a warranty for 10 years 100,000 Miles. It's unbelievable, and when you average out the car payment And all of the expenses compared to getting a clunker and the repairs. It turns out. It's one of the best things to do. And of course you gotta buy right. Rick and Let's talk about that. Rick. What do you What is your daughter? What are you looking to buy your daughter? Tom looking to buy a Santa Fe. In the Santa.

"And Gail just sent me our phone over by the way, 30371382. 55 Bill and Gail just sent me an email. We have a very, very cold spot in the northwest corner of the kitchen and dining room. Justin Area about four by four. Outside is a wooden fortune across space underneath. The whole house. Do I have to have a contractor? Come out appreciating the suggestions Will Bill you didn't say if it was if you thought it was ah, cold floor or cold walls. So let's just take them all and sort of in sequence and figure out what it is. You know, the Northwest is a clue because much. Of course, most of our cold weather comes from the North Quadrant. Of the compass, Northeast winds and Northwest Storm's coming over the mountains and things and so that nest the cold side of the house. No doubt about it. You have a window in that corner. If so, you might. You might want to get some cellular shades, some kind of extra energy saving and more efficient window coverings that has one idea. You also if it's the walls, and sometimes insulation gets left out of walls. I mean, there's absolutely no doubt. I mean, it's not very common, but that does sometimes happen. And one thing you could do is use a little endoscope and try to figure that out. You could get one online for 40 bucks or so and it's a little fiber optic camera. I have one. I think the I think the tube that the cue the fiber optic tube that conveys the images is, I think, 16 ft. Long something like it's a coil. But you could poke a little.

"The house whisper here. I don't know if there'll be snow. Girl lives. He's so charming. It's kind of hard to imagine that he had an entire career just based on singing a few charming folk songs, but they're Ugo. Then again, it's hard to imagine that I have an entire career at all. And yet here we are. All right. Hey, we're taking your calls all morning long. It's a special celebration of our last weekend before Christmas, 2020 and I said last week. You know what? I just wanted to talk to people. It's been such a law. I just want to talk to more people, so no, I wasn't actually whining that much, but I thought it would be nice. I thought it would be nice if we spent more time talking this morning, So give me a call and let's talk about your house. You can even ask us a personal question or two. If you want, man. It's fine. It's fine. May lie about the answer, but you can ask the number to reach me at 833 to ask Dean a 33 the number to ask Dean. Let's talk to a Cheryl, Shall we, Cheryl? Good morning, and welcome home Morning game and thank you so much for all that you do. I really enjoy your show. Oh, thank you. How can I help? I want to have an outlet installed in the hallway. You know, when people design houses, they don't think they don't take that into consideration where you might need an additional plug. So in my hallway, I wanna plug and in my master bathroom and the toilet area. I want to plug because I wanted today, but I want one with heat. Yeah. Yeah, you do. I don't know what kind of I mean, if I got a home advisor do I need to happen like on Lian, Electrician's or a contractor Who can do that to make sure that my house is not going to get burned down with their electrical problem? It's Okay, Really good question are right. So you got options. A Zafar is first of all right off the top. Um The first question would be whether or not you need to grab a permit for that electrical outlet. And it would seem as though the answer should automatically be yes, But I gotta tell you, there are some municipalities where if it's just one or two outlets, they're going to shrug their shoulders and they're like, just, you know, have a blast. Get it in there right And don't worry about it. Other municipalities are like, Oh, yes, yes, we would like a permit for that either way. It's not that big of a deal. Whoever is doing the work for you can actually pull the permit for you. So it's not like you've got a waste time going down to the city and getting that done, and it doesn't take plans or anything like that. A couple of outlets added to your house is what we call in over the counter permit. The cost is is very low, but The advantage of having a permit. In addition to, you know, obeying the law. If you're means it in you if your municipality requires it the advantages that you get a building inspector with eyes on your situation who signs off and says You know what, Cheryl, These outlets have been installed properly, and the house in fact, will not burn down. And so enjoy your new outlets. So that's the first scenario right there. The first thing you need to know As far as who conduced the work a license. Electrician's can do the work or AH hand if if it's a small enough job, a handyman conduce the work. You know, I probably haven't spent enough time talking about the handyman situation on the air because people get confused. There are handy man out there who are licensed general contractor's license contractors, and they just happen to have chosen the Handyman genre of work, and that's You Know, handyman work is kind of smaller individual projects not like whole house renovations, things they hang a screen door, hang a door in my house, you know, put in put a new faucet in my bathroom. You things like that. That's kind of handy man level work, and there is an absolute market for that kind of thing, because lots of people have small things that they need done in their home. So there's the handyman category of home improvement work. But then there's actually a legal designation of handyman and in the state of California. Handyman technically is somebody who's doing work on your house who doesn't have a contractor's license and they are get relegated into the category of handyman which means legally, they can charge you and do that work and you can pay them. A zloty is the cost of the job, I believe, is it It is at $500 right now. $500 Max for the cost of the job, and that's not $500 a day like you can't say two outlets two days $500 You know that kind of thing? $500 period for the cost of the work so you could have a handy man, if you know one That you really love and who does electrical work. They could come in get that done for you. Otherwise, I think it would be a licensed electrician's would be your best shot for that work, Shirl, just because technically, a general contractor is not supposed to be doing Work on your home in the electrical category and one of these subcategories unless there are a couple of other areas of work that they're also doing on. But that seems a little confusing. But a general contractor's license is kind of a carpentry license. They're allowed to do electrical if they're doing carpentry. And a little bit of plumbing and electrical than they could do the whole thing. But if it's just electrical, the state doesn't really want general contractors, you know, uh, elbowing out every other kind of contractors. So in that situation, you'd be looking for a licensed electrician's and it really shouldn't be that big of a deal..
