Buckhead Residents Want to Secede From Atlanta
"The wealthy suburbs that are paying all of the tax base and they're the ones that are funding the police and the fire department, but they're the ones not getting the services. They're not getting the protection of the police department because the police officers are busy taking care of crime elsewhere in the city. And a group of folks in one of the suburbs in a place called Buckhead, which really is a beautiful area of super wealthy. You have Linux bowl, you have some incredibly wealthy shops and Neiman Marcus and those kinds of places. So it's very Tony section of Atlantic. Kind of like maybe and I know our folks in games will Georgia and the north, Georgia suburbs might be able to help us out here with this, but it's almost like the Beverly Hills of Atlanta. So you have a lot of wealthy people, a lot of celebrities, music stars, athletes, and they live in this area. And the folks of Buckhead are saying, you know what? We're done. We are done. We're done with the crime. It's unbelievable how many shootings there have been at Linux mall, which again is a high dollar high end mall. But you have all these people coming in from the city. They're taking the subway and they've got a subway stop right there at the ball, and they come up, they call all sorts of mayhem, start shooting people up and then they get back on the subway and they go back home. And now the people in Buckhead are saying, yo, we're done here. We want to secede from the state or from the city of Atlanta. And we've had the people involved in this campaign, the guy in charge is named Bill white. And their argument is that they need the right to be able to create their own police force and that they're concerned that the defund the police movement has really weakened the Atlanta police department. I mean, it makes

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Isn't What It Used to Be
"What's illustrated is a long way away from the days when I would hold up the issue with one hand and look at Kathy island. You know what I mean? Maybe you gals don't know, but the SI swimsuit issue was traditionally for guys to beat off to. Really? It came out the week after the Super Bowl. Maybe before the Super Bowl. Either way, right around the Super Bowl. We couldn't wait for it to hit the mail. Look at it to find out how to be politically correct or how woke we need to be. You think of the only one that feels this way. I'm
David Gergen Shares His Experiences in the Nixon Administration
"David, I want to start because there's some people in the audience. I get new affiliates every month, and we get 400 and right now. I want them to know that you work for RN, you work for Gerald Ford, you work for Ronald Reagan, you work for Clinton. But you have different sort of styles and roles for each of them. Let's start with president Nixon. What'd you do in the Nixon White House? Nixon White House, I came in, I've been in the navy. I went to law school and I went in the navy for three and a half years. My last year, you know, I was assigned to come back to come to Washington to work on draft reform. That was the time when Nixon had launched a random lottery to determine what draft number you got and whether you're going to go to Vietnam or not. And we tried to clean that up, they ran a bogus in some ways, I ran the moderator first year out. I'll tell you, you have time for a little story. We got lots of time. We can go a long time today. Okay, super. Well, so the next one out of The White House orders a random lottery to determine who goes to Vietnam. The Lewis Hershey was then head of the draft. He was sort of the J. Edgar Hoover of the drafts. And so Hershey did something they did back in the Second World War, which was a very popular war. They got a bowl, they got capsules, and they put January 1 in the first capsule, put it in a bowl, and then January 2, all the days of January, then February, all the way up through the days of December the last ones into the boat. Got a spoon started up a little bit. Put it in the closet. And then on the day on the random monitor, they brought it to bowl, reached in for number one, you ought to Vietnam. And it was like November 15th. And then all of the early all of the early numbers and all of the early draws were from late in the year. So the whole thing was tilted.

Why Kathy Barnette Is Unelectable
"Now Dave McCormick, I've watched the race very, very closely. I've had every candidate on except Doctor Oz who has repeatedly turned down opportunities to come on this program, which usually evidences to me that don't know what they're doing on the conservative side of the issues. But I am now concerned, Kathy Barnett is rising in the polls, and she's a nice lady. I had her on the show. She got sparkling charisma, but in the last couple of days, the Philadelphia inquirer has under her tweets and her record and I don't think it's a Christina O'Donnell situation that Todd akin situation, how much does electability matter to Pennsylvania primary voters? Well, listen, I've gotten to know Kathy on the campaign trail. And I respect and admire her personal story. But she's been tested already. She was tested a little less than two years ago when she ran for a congressional seat in Pennsylvania and she lost by 20 points. And so listen, the stakes on this are so high for the general election because it will be the biggest race in the country. We need a candidate, a Republican candidate that has credibility has been tested at a deeply vetted and assembled a resources in the team necessary to win. This is like this is going to the Super Bowl.

I'm we've done everything from Super Bowl commercials to documentaries to films to all kinds of things, but I also consult with a lot of organizations, the museum of the Bible in Washington D.C. is a client. We've done all the media for the museum over the years. And we just really want to help people get their story out there. And we live in a media driven culture. And if you don't speak that language, you're not going to get hurt. Well,

How Much 'Pork' Is Good for Mark Kelly's Reelection?
"Your punch bowl news alert today is that pork is back and you run through the foremost endangered democratic senators senator Kelly of Arizona senator house and of New Hampshire, Cortez masto of Nevada, and of course Rafael warnick. They all got goodies. But Jake honestly, do you think anybody cares that light rails coming to Phoenix? I don't think that's going to have much of an impact on Mark Kelly's reelection campaign. Yeah, I don't know the answer to that. I mean, I think that I think these things do tend to have an effect. I mean, I think what you're getting at is does it have enough of an effect that it outweighs a bad environment and I think I think that that's a legitimate question.

Daniel Horowitz: Some Older Republicans Can't Reinvent the Wheel
"And I already had these disagreements with some of the older generation people that we looked up to and they certainly had their moments at times in the past but I've already had this disagreement during the Obama era What do you do when you have a president that absolutely will take that and do the wrong thing with it and staying put is usually the better option especially when we haven't had a single proper learning engagement over the last 20 years or so that it hasn't gone bad And then there's also the other part of it too that some of the older generation conservatives don't know how to reinvent the wheel So there's like an algorithm Okay abortion gun taxes Soviet Union Something that they remember and they could put into a paradigm But we're stuck now with something very different It's this western oligarch of corruption It's not a matter of the Biden administration It's something much broader than that It's in all the western former democracies it's the cancel culture It's the soft fascism It's the COVID fascism which by the way is still not over it I'm getting heartbreak broken emails from military service members to this day are being forced to get the jab that doesn't work and healthcare workers people being denied kidney transplants Putin did not end COVID or COVID fascism And some of us also do resent the fact that this is taking away from where the focus needs to be domestically that's the border crime and frankly I don't want to say names but you know what I mean Some of these guys have been awfully muted on the Super Bowl liberty issues of our time And then when it comes to Ukraine those testosterone levels go from zero to high Well wait a minute You know I'm a little bit insulted here you

I told you this before longoria H O E bowl and in the summer months was the downtime for the bowling alley. Like so my boss cut my hours back to like ten hours a week, five bucks an hour. I'm in college. I got to pay for books and everything, and he said, I'm going to help you out the lady, that owns the whole bowl has a big mansion on the Hudson river like this lady was filthy, rich. She's going to need help doing yard, work and whatever around the house, and she'll give you ten dollars an hour to do it. I was like, all right. This is great. And she literally had a mansion like a stone mansion, right on the Hudson river's gorgeous. And I get to mow the lawn and I swear the houses were twenty million dollars. Minimum. It's that amazing of a house headstone, and the, the lawnmower was a push lawnmower with no motor. The old school old Jeff Jerry cartoons. Yeah. And I was like, I told the guy the keeper of the house like there was a guy that his job was to oversee this. Unlike I'll keep doing stuff, but I'm not mowing this this lawn with his push molar. This is a big lawn and like Guinea go by go to Sears and get a sixty dollar gas more. I'll be happy. Now, she, she want to spend money on a molar my I'm not doing that for ten bucks an hour. I'm sorry. Those are hard. Gets thick read all my guys. I did it for like grind did it for like a week. And I'm like, there's got to be a better way to. You dog walkers out there look out for the salt pellets because it gets in your dog's paws, just just a little little side note. So anyway, one hundred and two days until the Friday Memorial Day weekend. I will see myself a taking the day off from here. So. Director now knows. Yes. Putting in for that Holloway? It's done. Yeah. Absolutely. And then you just put on a mixed tape breaks. I still have a tape player in my car. I have an old mix tape from nineteen eighty eight when I was in high school. Throw that on still up. You have a tape from nineteen eighty eight. Yeah. Yeah. It's got a Eddie money on the walk on water. Which is a good song. It has a banana ram a natural summer. Okay. Great Springsteen live is on there. You're going down the Parkway. I think it's mandatory you have to play that sort of. Oh, yeah. You otherwise tickets. You something like that. Yes. Exactly. Oh, yeah. Okay. I was tai-bo generally freeze myself actually 'til Memorial Day weekend. Just put up with this would March is always horrible. We always get the biggest storms in March, or whatever reason. And then you think April, oh, April showers, bring may flowers would have made flowers bring pilgrims. Now, April is always miserably ever going to a Yankee game in April at night that night. There is no experience that that is quite as bring April, some sometimes snow showers, and it's it's cruel. It's snowed last year in April. I remember that does. Yeah. I did not like that. I took pictures, really. But the thing is when it snows in April. You know? It's really, it's it's okay. It's like that April Fools is like Melton five minutes. Yeah. I got. But you know, it's like a, wink, wink, come on. It's gonna be okay. Get through this. Hopefully, the government will be open in April. Yeah. About that. Well, we got some new news coming in though, it seems that democratic Republican negotiators are now saying they're optimistic about striking. What is being called a quote broad spending deal as soon as tonight? Congressional dealmakers seeking avoid obviously, another government shutdown. The last one was thirty five days that was the longest and US history. Apparently, Senator Shelby Republican from Alabama Patrick layhee democrat from Vermont. They're meeting right now as we speak, and they're trying to show some unique Lahey told reporters his goal was to wrap this up tonight. Do it tonight and not tomorrow, we're talking about serious serious things and hopefully making some progress. Shelby agreed at this moment. I think the odds have improved. So this is interesting. I'd be very very curious to see what a compromise looks like does that mean if Trump's asking for five billion and Pelosi's offering zero is he going to get two point five billion. And then they'll talk about more later at some point that semantics is just about the fence versus wall is it about money compromise. Is it that we're talking about? You know? But then we get into it. Otherwise, we've got Trump sort of pushed into a corner of declared national emergency. I doubt he's going to do that tonight. You know, I don't know. I think with these negotiations going on and he's getting word if they're going. Well, so he's not gonna then blow them up by by declaring this C mentioned that it is an option if I so. Me do it. And he's an El Paso, as you mentioned the rally that should start in about an hour and just looking up at our television screens here at seven ten W O R, and it is a packed house. It is you can't fit a shoehorn that place, and it's an hour before he's supposed to speak. So President Trump. I I always hear people say there's no way he'd get reelected in two thousand twenty. I'd be very careful about that. Because the enthusiasm around him, particularly by those who originally voted for him in two thousand sixteen almost no one has left him. Right. His supporters are as loyal as we've ever seen for any president democrat or Republican. You'll get Gallup it's something like ninety percent loyalty. And then I look at his approval today. I get it's Rasmussen he pulls a little bit higher in there. Just because of the methodology that that Rasmussen uses, but he's a fifty two percent Erasmus and even in the RC p which is real clear politics index of nine polls. He shot up about a point and a half in the last week since the state of the union, and the fact lease the Democrats are coming out with some proposals. Now. In other words, it's one thing to complain. Right. This guy stinks vote for me. Okay. Now, what are you going to do and things like the new green deal come out? And then people are saying, oh my God. This is the alternative maybe Trump ain't so bad after all the economy's going great North Korea's no longer Lavin missiles, threatening the United States. Isis has basically been decimated regulations have been cut all these things. I wonder if the Democrats don't have an alternative message be truck. Besides Donald Trump is a bad guy. The worst guy since Hitler horrible racist. Addicted to Twitter all those things again, great to complain. You better have a definitive message or you're going to go through the same thing that Hillary Clinton did which was both for me to make me the first woman president. Okay. How does it make my life better again? I don't worry about Trump's bad guy. Okay. Get a message. It's my message to you is it's early my friend. It's early my friend. God you early it is, but as Yogi Berra one said it gets early late around here. He did say that. That's true. There are a lot of Yogi assumes that we can just do a whole show. Love the Yogi 'isms was that. I just love the yoga 'isms. They're so good. Yeah. He was New Jersey. The Abba museum for Yogi Berra out there. Believe it or not. So not believe it or not. I mean, he's tremendous. Yeah. Yep. Catcher for the Yankees, eventually moved to left field on a whole bunch of championships. And he is definitely missed. Speaking of. Things that we're not gonna miss me not talking about Virginia anymore. Oh, seriously. Because we'll talk about this Berkeley a year in the last nine days for nine days. Right. Since this whole thing broke just a couple of quick predictions north isn't going anywhere, right? He will be governor until the end of his term because I if he didn't resign the first twenty four hours and now the new cycles move like seven places passed him pluses, Lieutenant governor being accused of sexual assault by two people. Hillary is attorney general totes agree agree. And then I look at polls from Virginia. And it's remarkable. I mean, you have an even split of forty seven percent people saying this Washington Post poll saying he should resign. Forty seven percents say he should stay. But here's the real kicker more than sixty percent of African Americans in Virginia say that they don't think he should resign. That is the only number that matters at this point. So he's gonna stay and then he'll probably end up taking a crisis and turning it into an opportunity. He'll he'll be like, the Rosa Parks of governors in Virginia just leading all these different initiatives. I'm sure and so on and probably will take this negative and turn it into a positive. So the monk at home I can help. And I think it's because they're look people if you look at it and go there's a Republican that's going to be look studying sitting. Instead, they don't want that. I am certain by the way, if Ralph Northam had our next to his name if he was a Republican he would have been run out of town not just by opposing parties. But by the media, a long time ago, and obviously north of now he does a interview. Gal king on CBS. And she's saying, you know, all the people I talked to don't think he's a racist. And you know, maybe he can turn this around and rehabilitate himself. No Republican would be afforded sort of opportunity that I do know. Anyway, do you watch the view I do sometimes when I if I'm around plays at eleven o'clock here in New York. So it's it's a hard time for me just be sort of sitting around. Yeah. It's been on for more than twenty years, which is amazing longtime start with Barbara Walters. Love her. Yes, she created it actually right in joy Behar actually celebrated her twentieth. Anniversary on the show not too long ago. It's gone through believe it or not they have had twenty three co hosts on that show Twenty-three. Wow. Yeah. A lot of names and two of the most recent come from Fox News, Meghan McCain. Who was on the show, outnumbered? Coho? She's obviously the daughter of John McCain, very outspoken. I used to do some shows with Megan on a regular basis, and she's certainly unfiltered that I know then you have a good person to I don't mean to see a derogatory way. And then they added Abby Huntsman who is the daughter of Jon Huntsman, who's the former I believe he's either governor or a Senator from Utah. I wanna say governor governor. Yeah. So, but but now what we've had a lot more is basically, a clash of two very strong personalities, and that's bay har- who hates Trump more than anything on this earth and McCain who is not exactly a Trump fan because you know, the president veto, obviously insulted her father are more than one occasion. But still they do not get along. And I get these sorts of shows are suppose. To have these arguments that I have the time or contrived right because when people yell at each other and makes for good TV and all that stuff. Right. But this is a visceral thing, I think between these two at this point. And it's coming out on the air where it's getting uncomfortable to watch almost so listen to this. This is from earlier where the show was talking about Amy klobuchar who is now another female democratic Senator who announced her candidacy over the weekend. She's a Senator from Minnesota, and they were talking about her chances and Meghan McCain wanted to weigh in on the whole thing and joy Behar was basically just gave her the Heisman just in the Dow I'm moving on type of thing. And and it got personal. So give a listen now speak now on Amy klobuchar died. Okay. Two things number one. I have friends who were at her now. No. Keep going if you're going to have a hissy fit. We can't continue. Let's go to Senator Elizabeth Warren. That is a grandmother admonishing a grandkid. That's what that sounded like. Move on..
"whole bowl" Discussed on Newsradio 1200 WOAI
"Newsradio twelve hundred w away. I. Pretty doing. Double double. What what what are you talking about? It took a bite. Again, we're twenty three days away from Super Bowl Sunday. And a lot of people will have ships in depth set their party. Now, if you double dip, a chip you can eat the whole bowl of Jeff right, depending on what side you bite the chip. And what side of the chip gets dipped again just to be specific. Okay. Well, according to a new study by food scientists a bowl of dip or someone's double dip to chip is filled with more bacteria than your average floor. So is. So once again, does it matter which side of the chip. Take rest. Spilled the ball is for. Do. Put some dip on your plate, and you can double triple quadruple dip. If you want to pick it up with your hands. You could you do whatever you want with it. I don't really like the communal dip it anyplace. I'm just not a big fan of it for our even the sauce. I like when you go to a Mexican restaurant if it's just me, and my wife, I'm okay with it because they're pretty much. I have her germs. That's not a problem. But if there's other people that are table, I'll ask for another bowl. I'm not a germaphobe. But to me, it just makes sense that you have your own both got to reach across to mind makes sense. Sure. So don't double dip because if you drop a chip on the floor, not this way, you drop a chip on the forty five second rule. It's a lot clearer than in Jebel gyping a chip. Yeah. Yeah. Because there's more more bacteria when you're double dipping chip than there is on the average floor. Course if you have enough alcohol kills all the germs. That's what I've always heard.
