"We follow the money and see where it takes us this is one of the biggest financial heist that has ever happened period the journal is out now on to all information we follow the money and see where it takes us this is one of the biggest financial heist that has ever happened read the Journal is out now on spotify or wherever you get your podcasts sponsored by Merrill and Lincoln Nissan has named a new leadership team including a new CEO Mocatta Ashida the head of the company's China Business Nissan is facing several challenges among them declining sales not to mention the fallout over the arrest of former Nissan CEO Carlos gone for more on the challenges ahead we turned to Wall Street Journal reporter Nick cost off in Paris so nick tell us more about Nissan's new CEO and his past experience so so Nissan's new he's an executive cool Makutu who she does he is currently the head of Nissan's trying to business one of the largest markets and he's been there for awhile he's known to have the international outlook spent some of his childhood outside Japan he worked for a trading house for a number of years he joined Nissan because he liked the the the idea of the Renter Nissan the lions he is somebody who's GonNa come in he's not going to be alone because rather than just naming a CEO they've actually named the kind of management team of three executives now this new team is coming together at a difficult time for Nissan telus about some of the major challenges ahead so nissans that she'd been in a state of turmoil really since collarbone former chairman and former CEO was arrested in Japan last year so it's prophet has been shrinking itself I've been fooling around the world the company announced before Sunday would slash production is that it plans to cut twelve thousand five hundred jobs globally so there are a bunch of kind of Nissan specific operational issues and at the same time Nissan is in an alliance currently with with Renner and with Mitsubishi in particular with Reynaud things have been very complicated Reynaud owns more than forty percent of Nissan and that's created issues because people at Nissan field this is unfair and so there's GonNa be a whole question on the table which didn't you management teams so of the relationship with Renault what does it look like in the future and can we get our teams are engineers working together and going in the same direction and essentially producing ause rather than than fighting between company that's The Wall Street Journal's Nick Kosta reporting from Paris the trump administration has blocked a key figure from testifying before a House panel as part of the impeachment inquiry and President Trump Gordon Zonglin the US ambassador to the European Union had flown from Brussels to Washington for the deposition Democrats say the White House is stonewalling their inquiries into whether trump improperly sought to use the powers of his office to push Ukraine to investigate former vice president Joe Biden joining me now in our studio with the latest updates on the impeachment inquiry is the Wall Street Journal's Shelby Holiday shelby Whitworth House lawmakers hoping to learn from Gordon Sunland so ambassador Sunland name comes up a lot in these text messages that were released by House Democrats the other night and he appears to be at the center of this behind the scenes effort to get Ukrainians to investigate the the two things president trump really wanted investigated which were the twenty sixteen Russia probe and also charisma accompany that's affiliated with Hunter Biden Vice President Joe Biden son and he's kind of this behind the scenes draft statement and they're sort of weighing in on what Ukraine should be saying and then there's this really important text where Bill Taylor top diplomat in Kiev said are we now saying that security assistance and White House meeting are conditioned on Investigations and Gordon Solomon wrote back and said call me and Democrats really want to know what that discussion was about what the president's thinking was because at the same time they're pushing for these Ukrainian investigations to public the US is also withholding thirty assistance aid to Ukraine and that's exactly what Democrats are probing was there a quid pro quo there so samoans lawyer said today that his client stands ready to testify how is the State Department's decision to prevent him from doing so today being seen well it there was a political risk because some people are gonNA look at this and say wow there must be something here to hide but the president came out and forcefully said he's not going to be able to testify because this is a kangaroo court and what the Democrats are doing is unfair and so we're just not complying and he's not officially invoking executive privilege but they seem to be leaning on that concept of an executive privilege to prevent him from going before the committee we're also seeing signs of division within the Republican Party notably Senator Lindsey Graham who is a close ally of the president tweeted today that it's time for the Senate to inquire about eruption and other improprieties involving Ukraine. it sounds like he wants to get Rudy Giuliani the president's personal attorney before the committee and he wants to take his allegations and his claims that he's been making on television show oh seriously so it sounds like he wants Giuliani to come before the committee and talk about what he has found or what he has come across with respect to Hunter Biden sitting on the board of a Ukrainian guests company and whatever else Giuliani has found he claims that he has evidence that the origins of the two thousand sixteen Russia probe began in Ukraine and that it was slanted against president trump from the beginning and so Lindsey Graham is out there saying we want to take this seriously now these claims have been dismissed broadly as conspiracy theories and even the Ukrainian the former Ukrainian prosecutor general has come out and said would Giuliani's looking into doesn't necessarily exist I'm paraphrasing here but there are a lot of questions about what Giuliani claims to have found and while they may not be taken seriously around the world they are going to be taken seriously by at least Lindsey Graham the things he was pursuing who he was talking to what is conversations were like and why he continued to pursue these even when some of the theories he has shot down by former Ukrainian officials Wall Street Journal reporter Shelby Holiday joining me in our studio in New York shelby thank you so much thank you after noon I'm angry for totally for the Wall Street Journal thanks for listening.

"I mean, they loved him. They couldn't have loved him anymore, but you never know until you watch them play. This reminds me a little bit back in like thirteen and fourteen with the Golden State Warriors. It was just the perfect combination of players at the perfect time, and obviously Steph vaulted into this all time, great player. And then once Steve Kerr came around, it was just the perfect combination of everything. That's kind of what this is. Mahomes Tarik hill, Kelsey, look, how good Sammy Watkins looked with Andy Reid. It's just the ultimate combination in a league now that where the reference and the way it's officiated benefit offense of players. It's just the ultimate combination now. I mean, how's this team not going to dominate the league now for the next several years, I, it's pretty special and this quarterback. I don't think it's high personally or whatever overstating it to just he's a superstar. You know, you just have to watch him play two series. He just can do things that other players cannot do. Andy is arguably the best offense coach in the league. I gotta ask you one more question. Jared. Goff was at Cal, and I said, what I always do with a quarterback. I give you a high in a low. I said, is high prototype is Brady as low as Matt Ryan. I do think he throws a really nice football. He took a beating at Cal for years, and I'm watching them right now, and it's easy to like Todd Gurley, and it's easy to like that defense. But I gotta tell you John. When I watch Jared Goff one of my rules on pro athletes, do they make it look easy? You know, Michael Jordan, there were a lot of six, six guys in the league. He made it look easy. I watched Jared Goff yesterday. Day he made some sensational throws credible. He's the most. There's no headlines. He doesn't talk. He's he's, he's literally nondescript. He's Andrew luck here in Los Angeles. You never hear him. Did we under? He was a number one pick, but is he better than you thought he would be. Yeah, a little bit and I liked him. I think his greatest attribute is he's kind of California cool, very low key, not a attention seeker. He doesn't have the greatest arm, but he's really accurate in -ticipant. It's very well. And he just a great teammate. I mean, I follow him on social media. He's always hanging out with the tight end or he's over at Whitworth house for dinner. You know, I'm booked for those things. I think people in the league do clearly McVeigh and you know people around the Rams when you are beloved by teammates, and they will just go to war for you, and you're a good player. You start taking steps and they have so much talent around them. I, he'd be a Pro Bowl or right away, but he is playing. He's gotten remarkably better. I mean that I just throw that thing away, but even from last year when he was good. Yeah. So what he's doing right now, you'd have to say his ceiling looks, you know, when you look back at Matt Ryan, like you saying that cop, maybe like two or three years in the league, you kind of knew that could only do so much. Yeah, he got off, you see so many of these guys, their arm gets a little stronger as their career progresses because of the training regiments. Now you have to buy, you'd be crazy not to buy stock in Jared Goff right now, host of the three and our podcast on my her network, former NFL scout the athletic as well. Love is stuff. John middlekauff. Good talking to you, bud. See column have good one. Yeah. The Rams are interesting because of McVeigh's brilliance and Todd Gurley. They've got so many stars. There's a sense that anybody could drive this bus. He made a throw yesterday. I'm watching the game on TV. It was. It was the closest sideline to me. It was the best throw of seen by an NFL player this year. It was. He threw a seed over a corner in front of a safety. The box was about this big and it was thirty four yards and it was perfect. His dad was a major league baseball player is not a big talker. John Guliani joke in Los Angeles. I mean, he could walk through a mall, nobody cares. I have a friend jed fish coaches on the staff. He said he's bigger than you think in person..

"Bad decision making. And it's been my knock on early that some of his interceptions are just be smarter. And he's not Johnny's not a rookie. He's a mid twenties guy. Now, what did you make of his performance yesterday in the injury? Well, he wasn't playing well, especially in the first half. Now, it's not easy to go into Arrowhead that place was buzzing patch Mahomes debut. They were down huge. Brought on that play. You gotta be smart writer. Michael Vick say earlier just get out about you have to show some awareness on the sideline. This is not college football high school football. You're not running over it back. I I understand he played linebacker when he was younger at high school, but you have to be smarter than that, Colin. You're just valuable especially once they pay you all that money. The one thing I would say with the executive telling you that he hasn't exhibited the greatest self-awareness in terms of Kia somewhat of a gunslinger and on that play. He hasn't played he's been in the league awhile. But he all of his starts. This is three starts this year. He's made five starts last year. That's eight and then he made to in New England because he got hurt in that second against Miami. That's ten he has not started even a full NFL regular season despite having this huge contract. And despite really being the face of the franchise, let's shift to the raiders they've had the lead in all three and a collapse. Is Jon Gruden and this would be understandable. Is he not adjusting? He's been out of the league for ten years. You've watched all the raider games. Is it on Derek Carr? Is it the is it Gruden? Let's start with that. What do you make of their losses so far? Well, there is a positive take out of. And I I saw stat last night. The raiders have not trailed one snap in the third quarter meeting all three games they've had the lead. Now in the rain came the Rams tied it going into the fourth quarter. But the last two weeks on the road, they have had the lead in the fourth quarter. So it you don't walk into that. As a coach I think Jon Gruden has exhibited coming out of the game scripted plays. He has done a good job late in the game. Jon Gruden twice now has gone on fourth in short the last two games in bed denied both times two weeks ago. It was a pass to the fullback didn't happen. This week run to the fullback did not happen. Derek has also throw some inopportune interceptions yesterday. He had an atrocious interception going at Martavis Bryant. I'm not really quite sure why he's on the team. But he is on the. You gotta pick and it really cost them the game. But this team with Jon Gruden got here. They had Khalil Mack. Derek hard Amari Cooper, two years ago. That was known around the league is the best young core. Now, it's this rebuilding project. Obviously clear long-gone Amaury struggled yesterday. I think Derek's played a lot better the last two weeks. He was really good in Denver. He statistically he was all yesterday. But the the one pick in the end zone was an absolute killer. They'd never admit it publicly, but Khalil Mack. I it's you know, it's funny is he playing inspired football. Or when you were watching him with the raiders because I haven't watched every single snap of the raiders before this year now with Gruden. I am but I mean is Khalil Mack almost elevated post raiders. Or is this what he was. You know what he's doing? He's playing Khalil Mack football. This is clearly MAC everyone the area. That's watch Khalil Mack light. This is what he looks like if you watch Steph curry play on a Tuesday or in a playoff game. He just looks like Steph curry if you watch my trout play on a random Tuesday or on a Sunday night baseball game. He looks like my trout. This is what Khalil Mack is he dominates. This is. Why everyone I knew in the league were beyond flabbergasted that he was not only traded just back when it was becoming clear that he was going on the trading block. You do not trade a transcendent player entering his prime. That's a good character guy. It's one thing. When guys get in trouble teams move on you saw that with last year. Andy Reid, Marcus Peters. Couple years ago. Bill Belichick Chandler Jones walks in naked to a jail Khalil max character. You know reads like a choirboy he's he's everything you'd want out of a player. Let alone a defensive player that usually have had to have some more red flags than. Maybe a quarterback or something. He was the perfect player. I mean, I have a lot of friends, I know the head coach well in Chicago. I mean calling if you offered the two first rounder of back, you don't hit the raiders called like do the trade. Chicago would say no, I mean, this guy. I don't think it's crazy. Everyone's talking. He's the lead right now three games in defensive player of the year. I don't know if you watch the game yesterday. Mr. Bisky was terrible. If somehow this team can make the playoffs at nine or ten wins. I think he would have a legitimate shot to win the MVP. That's the defensive player of the year the MVP. He's he's that good. Finally. Kansas city. We all know Andy Reed's, a very good play designer you watch a lot of college football. You're an NFL scout. Are you surprised that Patrick Mahomes has taken over the league offensively? Did you expect this because I didn't know I mean, I knew they loved them. I mean, they loved him. They couldn't have loved him anymore. But you never know until you watch them play. This reminds me a little bit back in like thirteen and fourteen with the Golden State Warriors. It was just the perfect combination of players at the perfect time and obviously step vaulted into this all time great player. And then what Steve Kerr came around. It was just the perfect combination of everything that's kind of what this is Mahomes. Tyreek hill Kelsey, look how good Sammy Watkins looked with Andy Reid. It's just the ultimate combination in a league. Now that where the reference and the way it's officiated benefit offensive players. It's just the ultimate combination. Now houses team not going to dominate the league doubt for the next several years. I it's pretty special and this quarterback. I don't think it's high personally or you know, whatever overstating it, just he's a superstar. You know, you just have to watch him play to series. He just can do things that other players cannot do Andy is arguably the best offense coach in the league. I gotta ask you one more question. Jared Goff was at Cal.
