"Right, Thank you. Dub dubs Absolutely right. Stay clear that area That's a busy area. But if you don't need to be in that area don't be in that area. There is a lot a lot a lot of law enforcement activity continuing to go on in that area. Are you in the mall? Where you near the mall. When this thing hold off, the whole thing went down. I'd love to hear from you. The econ it mortgage talking text line is 85561616 20. Were you in the mall? Were you outside and you saw what happened, Bri, there's the squad started to roll in. I'd love to get your perspective. What Did you see the accurate mortgage talking text line is 85561616 20. You could call you can text 85561616 20. We've already heard from a lot of people throughout the afternoon. One of the interesting things about this is the timing and location. This happened right around three o'clock, which is when school is going to get out. You have three schools. Within a quarter mile, maybe of Mayfair Mall. You have Whitman Middle School You have wallet, tells the West High School you have Eisenhower Elementary school and all of them. We were told work, told the lockdown for a period of time than they were released, told to stay away from Mayfair. All happening right at three o'clock at school is going to get let out. Our Redeemer. Lutheran School is also right right there. It happened right around three o'clock and we started to hear from folks would say there's got to be at least 50 to 60 emergency vehicles here and they are still coming. They're coming in hot sirens on We were in the lower level of Macy's employees came up to us and told us all to get out. We didn't hear any shooting. All we did was exit. The store is quickly as we could. There were police already there when we got outside. Got halfway there and finally, like a security guard. He said. You've got exactly angle. Why he should just get out. And I said, Well, my husband turned on first ones that don't worry. We'll get out. Just going. I'm going. Oh, my God. Was walking in and about six kids were coming out running towards me, and they shouted at me, Get in your car and drive away. There's multiple shots, multiple people shooting in there and then I saw other people running out of the mall. Very scared looking. I didn't hear all my head about 45 going off and I just walked in, and I turned around. And try to go more people were running out. So it's kind of crazy. More police. They're throwing up going in full gear. I saw about six people come out and gurney. Yeah, about six people. She says She saw it coming out in gurneys. And we saw them too. That was around 3 30. I want to say we started to see some folks being taken out. Now, some of them moving on their journey, some of them moving their arms and whatnot and again what the mayor has said the mayor. More than an hour ago now in a statement, saying that all the injuries appear to be life threatening. Nothing has been confirmed by Tosa PD and again 5 45. That's when we expect to hear from them. Some of them to your point You could clearly see we could see that they were sitting upright that they were alert. We didn't see all of them. We've heard reports from witnesses who say they had loved ones who were shot in the arm. You know, shot in the leg, And once again, we don't know the condition of all of them. Our sources telling us that at least seven people were shot. It appears the shooting was indeed inside Mayfair Mall. We have not yet received confirmation where it happened in the mall. It's pretty obvious that happened in the Macy's wing of them all. Was it inside? Macy's Was it outside? I think we had a report earlier, Channel four report. That someone saw a shooting outside of Macy's into more the hallways. You had the other stores. Once you leave Macy's, we will likely get all that information or at least some more detail. When we hear from law enforcement coming up here, we do know that there are still some people that are holed up inside them all. Of course, Don't forget that's a huge structure in enormous facility with a bunch of shops in the hallways in back rooms and different things they have to go through and deal with that, and the mall has been announcing different. Things to those people that are still waiting. One thing we should also point out is that at this point at 5 45. We expect to learn more about the shooter. Now there has been some rumors circulating about the shooter's name and different things like that. One source has told us that Hey, don't don't believe anything you're hearing. Necessarily on the rumor mill of the shooter or shooter is that ah lot of the details that are being circulated. Are not accurate, so we would hope that at 5 45. The best case scenario is that the scene is not active no longer and they have details of the shooter or shooters. At this point, though, we just do not know. 5 30 at WTMJ. We continue to look at live pictures. Mayfair Mall, the breaking news this afternoon a shooting at Mayfair Mall. It taking place about three o'clock. Little bit before three o'clock was when word began to filter out that there was something going on at Mayfair Mall, and it turns out it's a shooting the FBI confirming that indeed, a shooting has taken place at Mayfair Mall. It's interesting to note as you look at the live pictures that the law enforcement presence Has not to the naked eye diminished. There are a lot of police cars. Still, ambulances still firefighting units on scene as many outside of Macy's. It looks like as there was when we went on the air here at three o'clock. So we came on the air three o'clock, and we did the news on the show. Like we normally do it three o'clock We covered all sorts of different stories. We came out and there is a report at five after three the A Twitter That there had been a shooting at Mayfair. So we come out. We say Well, what we're gonna do next, and then we decided. I guess we better check this out and see what's going on. So from I would say 308 on It's been nothing but coverage of what's been happening at Mayfair Mall, and that's kind of how it goes. Is we look for answers. The only official comments we've gotten have been a statement from the Mayor Dennis McBride. Confirmation from the FBI that indeed, there has been a shooting at Mayfair Mall and a Twitter a short tweet from the toast of Police department, saying that there was an incident That made for miles that the language they used in an incident. Yes, and this comes on a very busy news day. By the way, we have the recount taking place in Milwaukee, where by the way that was stalled, they stumbled out of the blocks when it came to that they weren't able to start to recount as quickly as they wanted. Kyle Rittenhouse. The 17 year old. He posted bond today. The $2 million bond. So Kyle Rittenhouse is out of custody right now, as he awaits a trial for murder for a thought. Yes, he's facing two charges he could face Life in prison and Donald Trump Jr Now there's a story there that Donald Trump Jr now testing positive for covert 19 this on the same day that his father Had brought Michigan lawmakers to the White House and hopes to perhaps persuade them to change the rules in Michigan to give him an opportunity to win that state's it's been a very, very busy news day. Including this situation, Of course that made for more. You're right a very busy day. And this is the last thing the mall needs. This is the last thing malls in general need. We've talked a lot about different.

"Do know victims were brought here this afternoon and trauma teams were standing by ready To take care of these gunshot gunshot one patients that came from Mayfair Mall today. Rebecca cloth, and we do know in some of the communication that we heard between law enforcement that two juveniles were shot and the indication that we were getting early is that there were no fatalities. We're showing you now. I believe these are filed these air previous pictures from the scene Mayfair Mall of Law Enforcement on the scene there. It has been a very active busy day. You can see just how big the footprint is of Mayfair Mall there. On. That is if we cut away from that. That is some of the video that we are trying to be protective of their, but you can see the number of law enforcement on the scene here. Because there is a large building that they have to go through. And based on what we heard from the mayor. That statement is now at least an hour old that they were still looking for a shooter, but we are now Less than a half hour away and where we will get where we will get an update from law enforcement. At least that's what they're indicating on where they stand in this investigation where they stand in this multiple shooting, and just how many people were shot, But Steve, as you can imagine, they're very busy. They're very active. They're trying to figure out Everything as well. And we have heard from some folks who said that they're people who are inside. In fact, let's throw to one of the sound bites that we have from a man who knows of two people, including his uncle, who was shot inside. My concern from a concho TMJ fours. Charles Benson. You're listening to their our continuing coverage. A shooting at Mayfair Mall this afternoon reports are that multiple people have been shot were reporting that our sources tell us at least seven people shot at Mayfair, the mayor saying. Fortunately that he believes none of those injuries are life threatening. We're hearing from the mall itself now in a statement, Mayfair mall, saying, We are disheartened and anger that our guests and tenants were subject to this violent incident today. We are thankful for our partners at the woman tells the police department and then we are cooperating with them is their investigation develops. Mayfair is closed at this time. And as far as we can tell, there are still people sheltering in place right now, John hours after this incident Still now waiting for police to clear that entire building, you know, imagine the stress this afternoon. There was a period of time this afternoon about three o'clock where several schools were shut down. Tosa West High School, Whitman Middle School was shut down. There's also in elementary school right in that area, Our Redeemer Lutheran school just right near Mayfair Mall. And all of that was put on Lockdown as police sorted this out, especially once there was word that it was an active situation and that it was still going on. Those those schools were all placed on lockdown. The kids have now been sent home. Lots of cars remain in the parking lot, which is kind of interesting lots of them inside the police tape. They have been allowed. I just heard from a texture to begin to inch their way out. But there are some cars that are completely black by police vehicles don't know when people were able to recover those We're expecting to hear in about 20 minutes. From law enforcement. I presume the Wauwatosa Police department. That's coming your way in about 20 minutes on WTMJ. Let's get out to Debbie Logica again. It's the middle of rush hour, Debbie. How is this impacted the ride and how is the right in general? Well, if the right in general is actually not too bad, this particular situation now that it appears Mayfair Road is open in both directions across from past Mayfair Road. Um, it doesn't seem to be impacting people very much. Here's the thing, though. You don't want to be necessarily going through that area. It trust me. It's just It's the traffic around it heading on highway 100 itself. It's gonna be kind of Ah, nasty ride. So try and avoid that if you can now 41 south, but we do have this accident at Hampton Avenue still being worked on on the left shoulder. Volume is bunched up right past that scene, but it's not too bad. Um, travel times are pretty much gone back to normal at 15 minutes. I wake you to the zoo. The other issue is gonna be our semi that ended up off of the roadway at Elm Road on North found 94. It is on its wheels, so it's not tipped over anything, but it's off into the ditch. Means they're gonna probably need to get a tow truck out there, and it's gonna be one of those big toes, so it's probably going to end up blocking Elaine through there. Just be prepared for that. Something on 43 is nice and quiet, as is North bound and cell phone on the bypass. I'm nebulas ago. Wtmj paella wi dot com Time saver traffic. All right, Thank you. Dub dubs Absolutely right. Stay clear that area That's a busy area. But if you don't need to be in that area don't be in that area. There is a lot a lot a lot of law enforcement activity continuing to go on in that.

No school today at Marcus Whitman middle school in port orchard, the south Kitsap school district says administrators discovered a threatening message police investigating the inviting in the district to cancel classes at Marcus Whitman. At least for today, the state of Washington wants to fight fire with fire because of recent wildfires. The health of our forests says declined significantly over the last one hundred years. State public lands Commissioner Hillary France says controlled burns can help restore the. Landscape and make millions of acres of Washington fourths healthy. Again, the goal here is we will reduce wildfires over time significantly and will reduce the smoke and hopefully return our summers back to people in Washington over the next twenty years. The department of natural resources would like to burn and thin. One point two five million acres across Washington thirty seven years ago. A US navy destroyer came to a full stop in the South China Sea and rescued a family of Vietnamese refugees. Now after a lengthy search for the crew of that destroyer, the family will reunite with the sailors who saved their lives. Komo's Corwin Hake. It happened in one thousand nine hundred eighty one the Vietnam war had been over for about six years. Refugees known as boat people were still fleeing oppression under the communist regime, peed, Madeline, Washington state native tells me he was in the navy back then serving as a cook aboard the destroyer USS Ingersoll early one morning. He was up before dawn as usual to get the crews breakfast going. There was a commotion the lookout on the Nightwatch was demanding the ship come to a. A halt. There was a river boat a small river Bill, and it was out there in the middle of that South China Sea says that lookout had to beg the officer of the watch and then the ship's captain to stop and check it out. Doc. And Barney after enough. Doc and finally said all right? We're going gonna turn around. We're going back the lookout was right aboard. That little riverboat were almost thirty refugees. Many of them members of one family the Hoon family. They're in bad shape. They've been out there. I think around seven days or so no food. No water crew pulled them on board gave them water Pete for cook. Whipped up a meal. Macaroni soup or something. A couple of days later, the Ingersoll dropped the refugees off at Subic Bay. Naval base in the Philippines, p tells me that's the last thought about the incident until just a few years ago. That's when members of the family contacted him out of the blue many of the and children now live in south King County, where they have prospered since entering the US all grown up, and they're all professionals, and they were eager to learn the name of the brave lookout who had spotted them and demanded to stop the ship to save them from certain death. Pete had to admit he didn't know the guy's name. So many years ago, I served on seven shifts, but he agreed to try and find him it took three years. Pete launched a Facebook page for Ingersoll alumni, remember that sea rescue anyone know who the lookout was a man named Dale Joola finally responded. He was me told Pete I was on watch that night just all came back and fled. Because I knew Dale I that name is unique. And I remember people running around the ship saying. Spotted the boat was the one. And so I knew right, Ken, boom. I found him. Has been looking for you by remarkable coincidence. Dale also lives here in Washington in Vancouver amazing that they're ball. We're all in the same place. And I'm from this area myself now Pete has arranged a long awaited reunion Saturday in Vancouver. The Hoon's will meet with Dale for the first time hug him grateful. They're so grateful and thank him for his bravery. It's gonna be a special special day. Corwin hake. Komo news. At the sports desk as the huskies get set to face. The Bruins in Pasadena tomorrow in a Pac twelve conference matchup. Komo's Bill Swartz has more on that match up with the Bruins. The huskies are three touchdown favorites over winless UCLA, but the Bruins have talent and their radio voice. Josh Lewin has this recipe for an upset in the Rose Bowl. Kerley, really, really hungry. They're embarrassed about being in four and the Bill let it all hang out there that kind of thing but NAFTA to look at it. They can get off to a night story. Go get a couple takeaways. Washington's last victory over UCLA in Pasadena. Nineteen ninety-five coverage starts at eleven thirty Saturday on the home of the huskies. I'm Bill Swartz. Komo new kick off at four thirty. Of course, if we're things stand tomorrow, and it's hard to believe at this point that any Senator wouldn't have made up his or her mind they were forced to cast this ballot today again the surprises, including Republican Senator from Alaska, Lisa Murkowski voting. No, a democrat from West Virginia. Joe Manchin voting. Yes. That keeps the Senate at a fifty one forty nine majority for advancement. There was an argument words ended with a gun coming out one man is now dead, and his friend witnessed it all. That's komo's Denise Whitaker. The shooter took off in a car. Police trying to figure out who that shooter was and what kind of car they were driving abused and neglected children in our state do not have an automatic right to an attorney to represent them in dependency court that ruling coming yesterday from the state supreme court. We get more from komo's Carleen Johnson. Attorney for Columbia legal services children and youth project was disappointed with the ruling, but told the Seattle times at least the court did establish criteria for family court judges to consider when they decide whether to appoint an attorney for a child things like the child's age whether the child is in the physical custody of the state, and whether the child disputes, the facts often, these are kids who've been taken from their parents or caregivers because of abuse or neglect. So advocates for the children have long argued. They should have legal representation, but the majority opinion says judges in dependency cases, already have great discretion on a case by case basis to appoint that legal counsel, if it makes sense and state lawmakers have also funded a pilot project in four counties to collect additional data on the impact of outcomes for children. Who do have lawyers? Carleen johnson. Komo news. At work, excuse me, maintenance, work at to Tacoma park and ride lots is taking longer than expected. So to be closed again today there right off I five at the intersection.
