Spike Lee: a new black wave of cinema
"We've spent past two weeks in a collective state of horror and anger over George Floyd's killing at the hands of Minneapolis police, officer Dirk, Shaaban, just one thousand unjustly killed by police. It's hard to look at what happened. Floyd, and not think of Radio Raheem Bill. Nuns character from do the right thing. Or countries fucked up needs to change. No American filmmaker has had the foresight or insight about that need for change quite like spike has. Some directors interpret the past some capture the present spike does both and he sees the future. Spent some time in the past few weeks. Returning to some spikes movies in anticipation of his new film to five bloods, it's a staggering body of work as wide as it as deep as warm and inviting as provocative and laden with traps ever. Spike isn't the totality of the black filmmaking experience and I don't want to suggest that, but for forty years he's told stories about that experience that have been seen more widely and discussed more feverishly than anyone and they still haven't been seen enough. Of the conversations you've been having with loved ones this month about the problems that people are forced to look at more closely police brutality, systemic racism locally sanctioned violence gentrification, tribal loyalty, the failures of government, personal sacrifice versus public good hiring practices, power, art and money spike was ahead of most Americans for decades on these issues, but while the stories he tells are frequently polemical. His movies are quite nuanced. They rarely tell you exactly what to think. Instead foisting contradictions and crises, interviewers, laps and making them decide. He crafts extraordinary dilemma movies inspired by the new Orrin Westerns and social dramas that he studied at Nyu and even though he doesn't force a conclusion is movies are frequently an intelligence test over the years, critics and audiences have repeatedly shown their ass immediately upon exiting a spike movie. For person like me seeing his work at a young age me up, helped me see beyond my keyhole-size view of the world, but it's not like spike wasn't relatable. He was the Avatar of new. York Knicks FANDOM! He was a regular presence on TV and Jordan commercials. He was directing music videos and frequently according controversy in the movie world he consistently challenged fans and detractors to reexamine their beliefs, and he always destabilized our comfort at sixty three. He is still very much a vital filmmaker. Twenty eight teams Black Klansman was among his most honored films and marked his First Competitive Oscar win for best adapted screenplay. Spike is a hall of Famer on this show and his work accounts for some of my favorite movies ever made. This episode is dedicated to those movies and will include conversations with a couple of his key collaborators as well as a part of a conversation that was more than I had on the watchable last summer. About Lee's nineteen eighty-nine masterpiece. Do the right thing. That movie redefines the term remarkable. In it! You can see and hear the pain and conflict. We're talking about right now. Watch it again. If you haven't really later in the show, we'll have a conversation with jazz. Musician and film composer Terence Blanchard a longtime contributor of spikes. They've teamed up on fifteen films including two five bloods, and he is truly one of the great writers of music for movies. I also wanted to share a conversation I had with the film editor Barry Alexander Brown in February. Two Thousand Nineteen, after he received an Oscar nomination for his work on Black Klansman they've been together since spikes first movie. She's gotTa, have it? Like so many great filmmakers spike works with the same crew over and over again, not just Aronson Berry, but production designer when Thomas Costume. Designer Ruth Carter casting director Robby Reed, and that incredible troop you've seen over and over again in his movies Denzel Washington, of course, Johnsboro on Davis Samuel Jackson Roger One of Your Smith Arthur Nas. Kerala Delroy Lindo is Ahah whitlock junior Alleluia Debbie Masar Ruby Dee, the list goes on. Later this week will be back with a review of spikes, the five bloods, which will be available to watch on Netflix on Friday, it's the story of four black Vietnam veterans who return to the jungle for some unsettled business, its reunion of sorts of some of those actors, and for it's a kind of mission statement about missions. Lastly. We'd like to top five on this show. Spike is made more than thirty feature length films, many of which are indisputable classics to cover every style and format under the Sun. Drama Comedy Crime Films Romances Documentary Sports Movies farce satire musical. He's really done at all. I would recommend virtually every movie he's ever made, but before I share my five year a few places, you can watch his movies just in case you're trying to bone up on some of the ones you've missed. Overlook along the way.
Tyson Fury Shuts Down Jason Whitlock's Attempt to Race Bait Fight With Deontay Wilder
"I thought this exchange though was very interesting earlier today so on at this one speak for yourself Jason Whitlock tried to ask a question that Tyson fury it basically implying that the first time Wilder and fury fought there was a racial element to the fight and Tyson fury didn't want to take the bait and quite frankly wanted none of that with with box question this was Tyson fury responding to weight loss attempt to try and make things racial on FS one earlier today emotional there was no racism in the flood in Fairlawn oh no no no not racism but like
Raiders' Burfict suspended for rest of season
"Let's move to Indianapolis. We're vont is perfect was up to his old tricks yesterday getting from the raiders win over the coals for a dirty already hit on tight end Jack Doyle for blew kisses to the fans on his way out but he also just kissed the whole season goodbye with the NFL suspending the controversial linebacker actor for the rest of the year explaining the perfect history of rules violations was a factor in the decision question here is should Baez Bursik pick be allowed to play in the NFL again at all. Oh yeah absolutely this is just the next step in terms of penalty and severity of pounding when you you talk about this so season long who five million dollars basically just burned up again on top of the four point. Two million dollars in fines and loss is game checks. He's already accrued over his career this so yeah he deserves another chance you know part of the opportunity that it comes from penalty is the redemption so you gotta give them that fell. XFL No no no not yet twenty nine NFL why I look this takes us back. Let's not get too political denying these strikes law remember that you how does that look in history. Now I get it yes. There's the league common called the XFL for X. NFL players early in the morning I was it's like I watched a highlight video of his collection of hits and then I thought they had problems with this dude at Arizona state over dirty hit yeah. XFL Noman Trust your gut. Your intuition is six million times faster than cognitive dot and you know what that means. Whatever you felt I is what you should have went with those star watching it over and over again and talking yourself into a different mindset. XFL I'm wit coming back next year. People are resting in the hall of fame that made their careers off of hitting the way Vantera perfect hits so the reality and that's truth. That's not up for debate. You can you know the NFL chains changes in it evolves but the reality of it is is that now we're looking at what what we talked about and discussed before with this crisis is the is there officials crisis this is there a player safety crisis and this is yes screams yes because the reality of it is. Is that a targeting hit yes but make me play. Agai- they can agree just enough to say he shouldn't play again. I don't I disagree with that. He should be able to play a game salute after he spent a year to the XFL proving. He knows how to play football the ball. I say bringing back the been fined for for July updates a lot. We have a number on that because I know it's a lot because this isn't the first time we've talked about these issues shoes in Arizona State. He's had a history of this throughout his career and being an offensive player. Obviously has a team. I see why you signed A. I think how what does it take. I have kids and so I can tell my child to keep they keep doing the same thing over and over and over again but they're learning by the time they get older. I would expect for them to stop doing this Bontes burfoot. He has not learned. I'm saying look you're going to jeopardize people. You hidden man in the top of his head. Who Miss Could Win got even worse. Maybe cracks his neck naked. Guy Can't play anymore. You're not learning then. You're blowing kisses on top of it after you've been through all that much trouble. I say I hate to say this but obviously you need a little break. Take not more than just this year. You're not learning told me thirteen suspense. That's it. That's it that's thirteen. You've got to me got taken away. His the thirteenth strikes law. I always I'm always I've always been a perfect apologised. I love the way he plays I love his passion. If you know the guys he's an awesome young man. I just just I get it and I totally agree with where you're coming from. What you're saying Oh when I said it wasn't I just think I just think that it is truly rooted and the players safety crisis that the NFL we know that deal with what's not in it for him. this is what makes them and this was going to break. Kim Is the fact that he knows he has limited physical skills. So what he's always done is make up for that the curse of the gifted in a sense of he knows he's not so gifted so he's going to go out there and try me knows exactly knows what how physical here's smash everything about this from launching lean to the duck head am basically trying to spear somebody. They've been trying to tell this do for six years. Cut that out. God is not allow. He refuses to accept that and whatever it's rooted in. They got rules that up to prevent it. He won't follow follow him. I get it I've talked to people that swear by volunteers perfect off the field and on the field he was a captain this year. No I get it but people wearing off all to fear those of us did watch him on the feels like hey man and I'm defended him in the past but this is a bridge too far. Let me ask you this. Why didn't the NFL suspended for life. That's an option. Why not probably be because they plan on him? Perhaps returning to the NFL fail but I'm the question where I wouldn't do you wouldn't do. I wouldn't let this do go playing Vince McMahon's Lee and show me some proof before I ever allowed you back back in the NFL because I'm GonNa tell you this man. I'm GonNa tell you this what the NFL has to be worried about. Let's say let him back in and he does paralyzed by the next time they're going to be involved in the lawsuit that comes to that's true. You seen this guy thirteen times. You've seen Antonio Brown. All kinds ads guys and you kept let me back in the league the lease hands maybe tied this this remained the suspension made this be the first step the bigger the bigger or conversation is you have to do this and you have to set the standard in the bar so nobody else decides to slip back. That's why he needs to go with that. But now you agree when I once told me said I totally understand y'all's
Cowboys hope to finish Dak Prescott's new contract prior to Week 1 game vs. Giants
"Zico elliot's holdout drama came to an end this week and now the focus shifts to dak prescott the cowboy say there's still still a chance they could sign back to a new deal before their game on sunday head coach. Jason garrett focused on beating the giants but his contract issues has contract attract issues of his own enters. The final season of his deal are the question here is. Is there more pressure on deck or jason garrett this week. Oh is that not even close. You gotta remember who jason garrett is. This is the guy who's been eight nate coach and elaine coach for the dallas cowboys before and survived all that as a matter of fact got other contracts and thrived under that but that prescott is playing for his compensation life and in that respect you gotta keep adding adding positive things to the resume and things may start all slow for this cowboys team. You got your tight end security blanket coming from monday night football. You got your running back that come from kabul and you got your star receiver who didn't even play this entire preseason. Okay i mean it's all on deck is a great opportunity for him to show that value but in respect of jason garrett he's on a different grading system then with dak is going to be under
LeBron James Debuts 'The Glass Helmet Project' Featuring Saquon Barkley
"Couple of weeks ago. I upset the l._b._a. Community the bron- apologised colleges community lebron james suffers from fame and social media diction the aftermath lebrons. Hey look at me antics at his son's a you game i said fame as an addiction more dangerous than cocaine nate burleson and other members of the community rushed to the internet to preach to the world lebron. That is a good daddy. They take care of his kids. Well at the risk of upsetting. I'm going to once again point out that the latest of the latest it is example of the negative side effects of lebron's addiction to fame the thirty four year old basketball star claims to have identified football's most unique challenge and further claims to have invented solution class helmets players being assigned a helmet and do not have no voice and no one knows who they are because of the helmet and no one ever truly know on that there's actually a person inside there and not taking that seriously they will be seen by uninterrupted did and this right here is the farce glass helmet and meaning behind it is all these great athletes athletes that play our wonderful sport football will be heard and we'll be saying because they are at the end of the day they are people as well. They take these helmets off and they are people when they have the helmets on as well so when i first saw this. I thought it was a comedy skit. Get thought lebron was having some fun and then i watched a four minute youtube video titled the glass helmet project tackling one of football's most unique challenges. Oh sweet jesus. I think the broader series the bronze side kick maverick carter some nondescript former n._f._l. Player andrew hawkins and an artist artist are pushing the notion that glass helmets or symbolic glass helmets would liberate and humanize oppressed n._f._l. Players i can walk down the street. Be the star football team and nobody knows who i am because people don't recognize you. Ah as players were kind of looked at as warriors or gladiators right and gladiators aren't people who you remember their name take a lot of people when it comes to football they cheer for the laundry in the sense that they refer their teams more than having a direct connection with the players hopefully one day we'll see glass is home is on the
Antonio Brown Facing Discipline From Raiders
"Huge n._f._l. News out of oakland according to adam schefter the raiders are planning to suspend antonio jio brown who reportedly had an altercation for general manager mike mayock yesterday after brown posted and complained about mailbox letter informing the receiver. He was being fined for missing practice practice according to the n._f._l. Network in rappaport brown said he would punch maniac in the face punted the ball and shouted finally for that repertoire also reported that a suspension could cost thirty million dollars in guaranteed money. I've been saying throughout the off season. I don't think a b wants to play football anymore and he's been doing a bunch of things in succession to keep screaming. I really don't wanna play football ball but that's my narrative has been my narrative. What do you all think and marceau's start us off. What do you think this latest incident says says about antonio brown i i've been in the process if you've been watching me sit at this table starting to micro into fan man you've been defending the he's a little light into pockets right now maybe to the tune of thirty million dollars because of his temper tantrum through and i'm going to be a little light in the pocket because i'm returning to retainer his defense attorney for eight months. This guy is full of himself and ask something we throw around a lot but we don't see it a lot like to this dose to this level when you are trying to play the ultimate team sport sport as an individual and i've been on some teams with devious some hall of famer to that did it their way but i've not seen it done this way and ever turns into success for not only the team but even the player like to derail yourself. This far off offer would is central to what the team needs in terms of your performance and your personality is really defeating so sorry antonio brown but a new evidence gives me new information which gives me a new outlook towards what he's trying to do it right now. I think he's a man lost. He's not living in reality. Dashes period the crazy thing though when you look at the letter mike sincerely mike may up. He was trying to let him know. I wanna be friendly you. You've got to understand when you do what he did the cryotherapy you can't practice the helmet fiasco. Oh we got that situated. Oh now it's another now the problem with the helmet when they came out and said either you all in or you all out that he should have known right dan in their day not plan with me no more and so for you you okay you post. I don't know exactly what happened today. They may i say something to him about posting it on his instagram or did he say. I don't know how that happened but you gotta understand they not playing with. You know no more living reality understand. This could be all white. This thirty million dollars. You got is all gonna you got. You're gonna regret this five years food. Look at the guys before you look at you. They put him out. The league probably could have played a couple more years. I play which i believe was more talented antonio brown he only played eleven years because ant learned from the people that came before you. He's not living in reality and it's going to bite him in a buddy. He's going to regret at four to five years from now. I'm gonna take a tablet of a different approach to this and the different for an angle. I think mike and jon gruden have to do something that may or may not have happened in pittsburgh. I think they have to take a step back and see antonio brown as a human.
Andrew Luck stuns NFL world with sudden retirement
"I think andrew luck came came to a place of peace says you're grading system is on a curve that i'm not subscribing anymore so it was andrew luck that has to answer the answer to andrew luck ultimately even though we all get the witnesses. Can i respond you better word that we're not putting out their obligation shen obligation quarterback ability. Have you ever been as a franchise quarterback. I haven't either believe it or not. I have never been a franchise quarterback quarterback. I always dreamed of being one but never had that opportunity or maybe it wasn't good enough to get that opportunity. The bottom line is that organization committed and invested in him and to do this to a team going into the season. I believe he has an obligation to try to handle the situation in the best way possible civil even if he knows he's gonna retire why create a controversy going into the season when you can easily defer that conversation until after after the season by just saying it's best for this organization. Maybe i might even change my mind because i even admitted in my previous in the press conference. I've only thought about this for about ten days. That's what he said. It was a quote right so give give yourself another couple of months to think about it. Go to europe for a month. Get away. Let that foot healed up a little but maybe maybe you'll come back in a month or month and a half and say i actually wanna play. I wanna try to take this team that i hear what you're saying. Steve i think obligation is a really tough off work. I do think there's a responsibility when you take on except all that money and everything they give you as a franchise quarterback but but obligation you've chosen that word intensely that gives you no wiggle room and you're saying that i think he tried to do the right thing. I didn't say he's got an obligation to stay in going into reserve. He's got an obligation to try to do. What's in the best interest of the organization. At that point i think in andrew luck mine did that in his mind what what he thinks is in the best interest organization may differ from you and jim and frank reich and jacoby perset but he did what he he felt was in his best interest and i think part of he thinks in the team and i always will bring this up byron left which was a franchise quarterback who went to the season ticket holder order luncheon who was demand and then they say august thirty. I get up outta here. David your turn sometime. Well guess what you could go the other way as well. This is not to jesuit. Yes what the boss can always fired period
Baker Mayfield clarifies what he said about Daniel Jones to GQ
"It's new article in juke g. c._q. Where baker mayfield said. I cannot believe the giants took. Daniel jones blows my mind. Some people were thinking that's where people go wrong. They forgot. You've got a win. Win course baker one in college. Gale jones did not but i mean the point could if we wanted to decipher wins and losses. There's lots of great college quarterbacks that were drafted. They've got opportunities that have not been great pro quarterback danny waffle you know i mean look just even more recent like vince young i i vince young matlock venture was rookie of the year he he might so he will heed one early like it. It gets harder not easier. Yes it gets hard because now okay now. We know what you do now. We'll go back and watch the chargers film where you know that line just wants to stand you up. Make you make you stay in the pocket and throw over the top because you're small and you can't see and we'll see we'll see what the ravens did. Look baker mayfield was good last year. Let's act like he tore up. The league behan touchdown receptions against the good teams they he played against. They beat up on the bengals. The bengals the team at the time they played the bengals. The bengals were on track to have the worst defense in the history of the league and they played the ravens twice the chargers chargers steelers the texans the broncos broncos to make the playoffs char steelers did neither but those are the five actually six best defense played against ten touchdowns love interceptions fifty seven percent completion percentage. There were two and four now if you if you give context and say hey cleveland won one game in two years for the got there and look at how people view them now. Oh that's fair and people believe baker mayfield's gonna damn good quarterback bliss on act like he went out and did what pat mahomes did last year exact same guy no missed completely really different now. The the thing with banco is all eyes are on cleveland so all eyes on you you better give him something because if if you fall on your face all these wide you draft daniel jones all these <hes> do johnson deal talking about luke johnson's money. Oh you know hugh took a job in cincinnati. I don't like him for all this stuff that you're doing all these theatrics they don't get thrown back in your face and so if you can dish it out you better be able to handle it when it comes back and and that's what i don't know if he understands that could possibly happen. I'm sure he's not thinking they're going to fail but to understand. You got a lot of prime time games. You better perform
Giants owner John Mara hopes rookie Daniel Jones never sees the field this season
"Rookie quarterback daniel jones solid performance in the preseason debut at a lotta giants fans getting excited about this year but they might wanna pump the brakes after hearing pain what giants owner john maher said when asked how he'd like this season to unfold ideally like unfolding for the seat of beyond hope. Eli has a great a year game. Never sees the field. I mean in an ideal world that you'd like to see that by the end of the day is going to be decision by the head coach to win for if

I have no problem with stills using social media to question his boss or any authority. Not only is it appropriate. It's healthy. I just hope still willing to listen and engage with ross and others who disagree with his point of view i just hope still strong enough and confident enough to choose engagement and dialogue over divisive counterproductive and distracting acting protests during the national anthem protests and other forms of civil disobedience are effective tools when your gold

LeBron James Tries to Set Tone for Lakers Playoff Push, but Falls Flat
"Return to the NBA where LeBron announced last week. He was activating the Lakers playoff push. But it doesn't seem to have kicked in yet. LA is now just one and two since those comments and according to an anonymous NBA executive LeBron bears. A lot of the responsibility claiming that the bronze very public push to acquire anti Davis quote, kill the Lakers chemistry. Is there any truth? Here is the question, and I kind of say, no. And I say that because I believe this team was deal away from David on. I believe that this whole mentality coming into this year was about next year and just surviving this year and the survival looks ugly and disappointing. But I just don't the chemistry was going to die at some point. Because it never been about this. She say again as I've said it before maybe it fell on deaf ears. The Lakers would have been better this year without LeBron James, and it's happening. As predicted. You're talking about a team that last year went out there and one thirty five games without LeBron. That was maturing that was coming close Dila with injuries. And there you experience, but they had a chemistry. They loved each other bond brothers, and they were growing together. Then you put the cherry on top of thinking this the Bron, James and. Team right now is gonna struggle to win forty games on pace to win fewer than that. Who know that they even clips thirty five twenty nine wins right now, I know lebrons been injured but was really injured and fracture is that Mojo. And then you look at the team if you wanna dive a little deeper into it. The young core is playing well in terms of couse, MMA and Brandon Ingram, and those are the guys that were on the train block. So where's this end in terms of the LeBron experiment? Those young players also know that it probably won't end in the Lakers uniform. So everything got disrupted by LeBron landing on the Lakers. When this was a young team in the Golden State model of them grow letting them go figure it out later that this team would have matured to something better than this.
Is Kyler Murray the best running QB the NFL has ever seen?
"Said this earlier arguments say it again, and I know a lot of people are going to disagree as they runner. Cuyler Murray is the best running quarterback. That's. Ever come into the National Football League. Even Michael Vick. You can go back and watch which I've done you can also look at the stat sheet. Kyla Murray in his last season or his last two years at Oklahoma average, two more yards a carry than Michael victims and his career at Virginia Tech. He's just a little bit more dynamic because of his short area. Quickness. The last thing I would say is he's one of the best passers to go along with that athletes as runner that we've ever seen. His accuracy is off the charts not quite Baker Mayfield. But it's off the charts. If I'm in the top five, I'm taking Cuyler Murray dudes of football playing Jesse. And you gotta understand that those who are are thrown off by his size. I remember war dome when he came into league and that was listed at five nine one eighty and every defenders listener chops off can't wait to get on them. Play twelve years league, three pro bows? And I never got a square shot on them. And I never seen. Anybody? Get one. Is this like you sit. Yes throws. That's short area space when you get into. That phone move with that guy. And you think you have all the vantage because of your size that quickness he's gonna take four steps before you take your next one, and he's going to be out of there. And I think that's going to play think the real interesting thing for me is always think about the fault mechanisms of the quarterback Cam and the default mechanism if your default mechanism is from the neck up, you'll survive even being smaller, even being athlete gifted even being able to move around. If you're the fault mechanism is from the neck down. You're in trouble. Meaning I'm just gonna take off and run around here and throw my body throw caution. My my body to into harm and all those things they're caution to the wind like if that's your fault mechanism. And so then it comes down to who's actually a gifted quarterback because the gifted quarterbacks when things break down Bill extend the pocket, they'll move around. They'll even escape the pocket, but they're gonna make their decision from here up. Joe and Kenny do that. And I think he can. Yeah.
Flacco loses job as Ravens starting QB; Jackson takes over
"Is we brothers together each and every day, you know, his count when our life on the line. You know stood his team and change what they didn't show. You was that John Harbaugh had both his fingers crossed behind. Talking. And our question is smart of the ravens to go all in on the bar Jackson. And I don't think they've gone all in. I think John Harbaugh made it very clear, we don't do this until it doesn't work and that could be this week next week. It could be a two minute drive in this next game evading into two minute offense, a situation I expect Joe flacco to run onto the field and run it. And so I'm not I don't think they're all in all the mar Jackson. I think they're committed to a style of play. We're going to run the ball and play defense and Lamar J. We're gonna do that. Until we need to do something else inside of a game. Look, man. I gotta decode all the BS. I just saw on that podium right there
City of Cleveland, Cavs Players Have No Ill Will Toward LeBron James
"Child. I was like seventeen years old. I went to the NBA draft party we through and I cussed out a Donnie Walsh up. Stay. Greatest memories. Take Adrian branch in the second round. I was upset about that. Anyway fans can do. I just learned at look I have a memo to fans to to two layers. It is the first layer is Bouin a really affecting a grown may like y'all think like, I hope the me you me on this like twenty thousand people sitting around here saying boo like casper somewhere FU like, I'm laughing at that one inside. But I'm played a game. Which all here's the other layer to fans at the understand if you really trying to get to me the most negative energy. You can give me is not bullying is apathy because I've been there before when you run out, and they say you'll name and you hear crickets, oh, this will. Hello am. I good Emma bowl in do. They understand. This specially when you own a road, especially when you go back to your place. I went back to buffalo went back San Diego. I've been there when they didn't say a word. Introducing ourselves Weli then I've been back to boo. And I'm like, oh, yeah. I'm the man. Oh, yeah. I got all your skin so fans, if you really want to get to them apathy is the best way. You're absolutely correct. Because the booming could actually fuel something and create a performance would which we've never seen before because he is rolling right now. But I think Dan Gilbert is leading this charge right now, and he's leading more with with love with with more with Grayson last time because he was leading with negative comments. There was no championship. He thought LeBron quit. He had all this stuff to say about a guy because they feel abandoned they felt like you just left us standing here. But now you come back in this situation, and you had to the school. You have the championship you have four finals appearances. You defense are in debt for what he's brought it as city on a basketball level. But for the economy of the city, Cleveland's a diff-. Place right now. And it's a great city right now.

"Make yourself. I'm Jason Whitlock. That's Marcellus Wiley that do coming up. Mix wisher will be here to break down the Red Sox latest world championship and we'll get to Jason's log on the selfish actor stole yesterday's game from air Rogers, these that's what he thinks. Today, we start with a big story which got got Hugh Jackson who reportedly was fired by the Cleveland Browns today after going three thirty six in one and two plus years at the helm the team also reportedly fired offense coordinator, Todd Haley, and both firings will no doubt throw even more turmoil in the Baker mayfield's already up and down rookie year. Cleveland's interim head coach will be defensive coordinator. Greg Williams another guy with a little bit of history from bountygate. They've got an offensive coordinator. I think now getting kitchens that no one's really ever. Heard of Baker mayfield's rookie year is in the toilet. It. And is this move to me? Provokes more chaos. I can't defend Hughes record. But I also can't defend this decision to fire him midway through Baker mayfield's rookie year. I don't think this was the right thing to do right now. I think it was I think it was something that they should have done and been preemptive about it even in all season. Even though is John Dorsey first year, you could just see that relationship didn't hit the ground running and terms of mutual respect if your doors. Why do I have a coach who has not won a road game ever as a whole head coach organization, and why would I want this alleged quarterback whisper or respect it quarterback whisper to now touch my new prospect that I drafted at the number one overall position Baker Mayfield. So I think that John Dorsey fought his instincts, which were not to be the new sheriff in town say there's a new rule new way. And everything has to go. But you should trust yourself in those moments because their intuition proves now to be the smartest way he should have proceeded. Hugh Jackson say what you want about him. There was a tug of war going on between him and Todd Haley over their new prospect John Dorsey didn't want neither one to really damage him. And I don't think Baker mayfield's damaged goods. But like anyone who has a child or someone you're trying to moat? When you see there's wrong being committed. If is time to just change that and move on and move forward. I don't like the firing. I don't to your point. I think that if you had to fire them. Yes. Do it before the season starts. But right now, I thought that this Cleveland Browns team was playing for their head coach Hugh Jackson and performing well where they acquainting to wins. No. But you have to learn how to win you talk about a team that is pulling together in trying to scrap every single quarter to to find a way to win. For overtime game. That lets me know that we're not giving up on our coach. We we're in agreement with what he's trying to get done. We just don't know how to win. We haven't won into here. Three years. The last twenty minutes. So I don't I don't like it because as a young quarterback coming into this league. The number one thing that I think it's necessary instability. And when you don't create stability in an already unstable situation, you're going to you're going to question now Baker Mayfield and his progress moving forward, and I agree with you that that's not gonna help the quarterback. I think that's a big reason. Why those quarterbacks that go there? They never turn out to be doing anything really great because you can't have coordinator after coordinator head coach after head coach just look at the history of the great quarterbacks around the league they've always had stability at that position. But when I first came to lick I had Marty Schottenheimer. Okay. And it seems like the last good coats that Cleveland hat was mardi Sutton was last time they had success. But he's the say this is a performance driven business if you don't perform then you're out of here looks like Dorsey is saying that he's trying to set the Tonys gotten there..

"Into play? When you think about personal protection influences that? Huge imports. And it's a motivating factor for so many women coming into the world of firearms. You know, not everybody is is has a desire to become a three gun competitor athlete. But we can all agree that protecting the people. We love this universal truth. We want to be able to be there for them when they need us. Should they need us and should turn into something? Terrifying. That we're not deer in the headlights caught with no resources or knowledge on how to do that safely and effectively. So I I would absolutely call that the mother bear instinct is something that women have it's it's a very positive, primal instinct, and it serves women very well when it comes to firearms. They're very quick to tune in and to focus into tap into that energy, and that motivation, and it's it's a very very useful tool. Yeah. That's that's one of the overwhelming motivators that we've noticed from women coming into the range. And taking the class. And the thing is that the they want to feel safe out in public. They want to be able to protect themselves and their children in their homestead that motivated is like mentioned, it's it's basic, you know, to to everyone's higher. He needs, you know, personal protection to be able to defend yourself in. It's seems to really. Manifest itself in women more than than those men. It seems as far as a motivator to come in and get training, and take classes and things and you met you hit the nail on the head. You know, it's it's it is more than just when you're out on the street, and the boogeyman can get you in the dark alley everything we've seen in the movies and primetime TV the realities of home, invasion happening between ten AM three PM now for these moms who are stay at home. Mom, family to our home schooling. When are you most vulnerable? Well, it's it's when the man of the house is God. And it's known that you're right. That's when people are showing up not it's two o'clock in the morning all the cars are in the garage. Right. Right. That reality is a terrifying. One. And it's you know, fortunately, now, it's being publicly talked about people's awareness in the preparations are you're able to do more of that knowledge now up in the northeast where you live and are from the political climate. Is that is that a factor up there? I guess it's not too bad. I guess not like New York, right? No, no, no, certainly main is not anywhere near New York. But what we're experiencing in Maine is kind of feels like a California creek. The only way I can say creeping, California legislation creeping up the coast. And while main is extremely pro second amendment at the moment, we are constantly under attack from special interest funding from out of state, largely New York groups coming in and waging less than legal campaigns to garner signatures and force issues through to the bout and we've seen this largely an an attack from the hunting culture, because if you eliminate the sporting culture community, you eliminate the general knowledge base a firearm, safety and home safety and practice, so that crease and education population, which then makes it very easy determines into scary thing because right now, no good method. And then, you know, the Domino's began to fall so right now, menas constitutional Kerry. Okay, here we are very very pro. Your ability to exercise your second amendment rights. I've noticed because I'm. I'm the director of training appear in Maine at a range called house gun shop. So I see the retail side as well as the education side on daily basis, you know, Mainers take take extra precautions, you know, they follow all the rules, but they also take extra precautions. And while you're not required to a private sale. Do a background check. We have so many people coming in to conduct that transaction with a background check. Right. Exactly. So there's there's a lot of additional measures that we're taking on our own outside of the legalities if things, but we are very very crow to a we always every two years are looking for help from out of state because means economy is not the strongest and to help us combat these special interest groups programs that are coming in. And there were drastically out funded. So we're we're very concerned that as Massachusetts changes their legislation. They just had a ten round magazine Bill passed which is very concerning as New Hampshire weekend as we look to Vermont to help us to fight the good fight here financially that name is susceptible to, you know, unfortunately, being the final piece in the puzzle to create a body of of the US on the east coast. That's far too similar to that. If the west sure, right? Our guest right now is touchdown Whitlock. And let me give out some of her contact information for the Louis are listening, and it might want to contact her. The website is Tatyana Whitlow dot com. L spill that for you. Facebook are all her name. So was at John with log or the slash whatever that could be. But be sure to look her up on social media in the website and check all that stuff out as well. I thought you on on the next Saturday, the twenty second the class, you're conducting here in Memphis. It rained USA is the ladies the ladies only basic handgun for self defense that we I know that obviously you teach a lot of female students, and you never told us that we had to make this a ladies only class, you told us that sometimes it is structured as a 'let's only sometimes it structured is co Ed and we decided to go with the ladies only class for the for the first time we had you there at the range. So it is a ladies only class, and it's the basic handgun for self fence. Can you tell us kind of what? What students might expect to see your here or experience? Learn in this class, certainly this is the class that I had wished that. I had had earlier on in my training experience. In my learning experience. I began way many people did with which is basic and are a program, which is very very firearm Centric, and then very quickly over time realized that well now I'm going to have to learn how to use this for self defense. And there is a thinking protocol and they're handling skills. That are appropriate for self defense that are different from competition. Skill sets right and we handle the done differently for a match than we would in our living room. So the premise of this class is to introduce new shooters or experience shooters to their firearm in a manner in which they would be best use it safely. In a self defense environment, which is probably going to be any place or space that you are in most of the time your home, your office, your car, you know, the coffee shop so the realities of contextual based training, which is to give you the skill sets to apply that tool safely and accurately. Under stress is what this class is all about we cover the basics of handgun use. We cover all the fundamentals all of those essential skill sets, which are universal. But we give you more. We give you the ability to think for yourself to solve problems while you're learning the gun. This is an air class. Correct. I'm very our class. It our eight hour class. So it's of course, we're going to feed you there is a full full day of education now. You've taught like I said, many classes over the years and ladies, do you? There's there's certainly is a different feel for ladies only class, then a co way less. Yes. The women tend to talk more of kind of. I dunno bond more together during these classes, and and really make an experience more than just sitting classroom and listening to an instructor in and shooting a few rounds on the range. Oh, absolutely. And we laugh I mean, we talk about it. We have to have fun. I mean shooting is a fun thing to do. And while we're talking about we're going to cover some scary, realities and scary topics because you know, self defense is you know, suppose suppose that you will be having to defend your life. And that's no laughing matter. However, we do we do build in quite a bit of humor through the learning process. And we teach how to flip the switch and women are very good flipping the switch, and when you have a group of ladies together, you know, an all women's class allows you to and I have short hair. So I say this tongue-in-cheek, let your hair down. Right. Feels like you can ask questions, honestly, it eliminates a level of intimidation. And there's no expectation that you're going to walk in here being minjah. And if you're a ninja rock on. We'll just I'll push you harder. We'll do more fun things, you know. But the idea is that this is a women's only classical creates an opportunity to break down those barriers of entry. And if I do my job, well, it should be. If it's your first ladies only class, it should be the last ladies only class, you feel you need to take. Okay. You simply walk away feeling like you could participate in any program at you know, because part of what we're gonna teach you how to do is how to engage in a class environment and how to be successful in line. So if you take another ladies classes because you want to not because the only thing you can do so you won't feel intimidated by having been around and all that much cheese mo- that sometimes is is exhibited some some male shooters, you build a hang with all of them. Absolutely perfect. Now, you mentioned being a basic class. There's so you don't have to have any real experience coming to this this class here is that correct? That is correct. This class will start from scratch. You know, many people are already they have taken for you know, they've taken the required concealed carry program. If they're looking for, you know, for host home or concealed carry. But those classes don't teach you how to actually fight engage or or utilize that tool under that circumstance. So well, people have taken those measures they've taken basic safety program, or you know, there are plenty of ladies who have been handed a firearm by their husband and shipped off to class gun camp and said go learn how to use it. Right. And you know, they slide it across the table go. I don't know what this is. Can you tell me what that is supposed to be? We take all of those skill sets. And I often have a law enforcement individuals participating because again, you know, the fundamentals are true. No matter what stage you're at. And you know, it's never you're never too advanced to jump in on a basic program tuneup and the polish something new. Absolute or at least refresh something that you knew at one time in navy. Forgot exactly and this class is all about perspective. So it will it definitely offers. A different spin on how you're interfacing with the gun. And then the the second class..

"Welcome to the show i'm jason whitlock and i'll tell you how colin kaepernick might have just found a real path back to the nfl non colin coward now tell you why i have reason to believe lebron james might not end up on any team next year speak deal starts now can't wait to hear this you can't wait to hear jordan left in his prime for minor league baseball crazy hello and welcome we're joined today by nba champion dante jones and he founded the big lead jason mcintyre starting philadelphia for the seventy sixers general manager bryan colangelo has some explaining to do after the ringer dropped a shocking story that's been months in the making accusing colangelo of using burner accounts to twitter vent his anger at just about everyone including his own players taking joel embiid to task for his ego and blaming marquel folks as mentor for ruining his shot among other things klenge will also allegedly used the platform to say nice nice things about himself as well as a tack former sixers general manager sam hinkie and current raptors gm masai eugene lowry the team is investigating allegations which colangelo has denied saying quote like many of my colleagues in sports i've used social media as a means to keep up with the news while i have never posted anything whatsoever on social media i have used at fila one two three four five six seven twitter account referencing the story to monitor our industry and other current events the storyline is disturbing to me on many levels as i'm not familiar with any of the other accounts that have been brought to my attention nor do i know who is behind them a what their motives may be in using them are cowherd should the sixers fire colangelo well if you read the story it looks like it's him so based on that i'd move off bryan colangelo it links juvenile it looks.

"Says a nice metaphor look their decisions that he's going to make that he's not gonna explain to everybody else and i'm not saying that i necessarily agree with it do i think tom should be able to have his trainer at the facility so that he can go to work yeah i don't think that's a big deal do i think tom should get concessions at other guys don't yeah and it would be very easy to go in the locker room say look when you become a forty year old mvp the league and have the success of town as you can have the same concessions but bill has his way of doing things there has been flexible in the bath and i don't think he's going on not encouraging and your eighteenth marriage that to happen the bill where it was just revealed that before the draft the eagles reportedly offered we're offered a high second round pick by the cleveland browns for nick foles whitlock favorite quarterback ever but declined after running the idea by fulls who said i'd rather be a backup then start for the browns whitlow who looks worse nick foles or the browns getting turned down by foles nick foles no i'm gonna go with nick foles because there's no way after being mvp the super bowl he should apply he should be playing anywhere where he's not making starters money oh you have to strike when the time is right and i would have demanded pay me like a starter or move me somewhere where they're willing to pay me as a starter he should've went to queen always bang on athletes because they're all about money nick foles like it's not all about money this is a great locker room with a great staff and notice function and i'm i wanna be right here saying listen to the best position.

"The show jason whitlock i'll tell you why carson wentz should be looking over his show and i'm colin coward now tell you why people are starting to agree with me about russell westbrook yes the yourself starts now right now i don't fully agree with you on the dr phil maybe all right hello and welcome join a day by former nba allstar kenyon martin and fox nba and was the sar starting cleveland lebron james and the cavaliers put the raptors out of their misery last night embarrassing toronto with a sweep that nobody saw coming after a tough first round the cavaliers looked like a completely different team in this series and lebron talked about staying confident despite early struggles listen at the end of the day understand it a series isn't one until you win four so my my me personally my confidence never wavers i just it's just who i am i believe in what i bring to the table what can provide to our team and i believe my teammates is impossible for me to to to lose confidence in our ball club no matter what the stakes are were were down because if i do then we're we're we're we're gonna go from team aspects so lebron definitely got more help in round two than in round one with huge jumps across the board and the stats of his supporting cast cow her all of this is making me believe lebron may stay in cleveland now anything i think the opposite listen man all of us work our entire lives to have options he's in near fifteen lakers him and houston watson and the spurs want him and the knicks won them and philly wants them those good teams.

"While those shell i'm jason whitlock and i'll tell you why 40yearold tom brady them vp season isn't exactly what its zinc and i'm colin coward i'll tell you why all this talk about the camps struggling nonsense speaker yourself start now is it a thursday it is thursday wish those games were tomorrow morning still the bronze biggest cheerleader hello and welcome we're joined today by a couple of super bowl champs march flared instead joyner a start in new england worthy pagers got a scare yesterday with tom brady injuring its andrew practice after a teammate accidentally ran into him xrays were negative in brady appears to be fine headed into the seething some people thought at age forty an injury would derail brady but the 40yearold is cl is the clear frontrunner for the mvp he won an mvp today not the main one but one one something that would have been unimaginable in other heirs coward i'm someone than at things i'm not as impressed with brady plane at this level forty because i think the nfl rules have made his way to easy to play quarterback well you know what i think it's happening and it's an interesting thing we went to the nohuddle about five six years ago and coaches don't trust 24yearold guys nohuddle carson wentz is an exception he is a transcendent talent but they trust matt stafford any light and brady and erin and ban because they've mastered the system you can't throw anything adam secondly is they can't hit quarterbacks anymore all these drew brees used to be you hit 34 your legs were sore your hips were bad quarterbacks now we're thirty nine and they're all a play for four more years so i think it's become physically easier to play i don't think there's any question that you can extend your career you're not getting hit as much it's a bubble screen league now both out of your hand the second thing is coaches wanna keep those veteran quarterbacks because with no huddles they've picked up the complexities much easier than the young phillies that come in the league so i think those two things are working into that i would agree with you for veteran guys it's an easy game man they know the rules you can't throw anything at brady and reason ben the heavens.
