Interview With Kelly Keller

"In today's guest is former. Alpa employees kelly. Keller kelly under private pilot's license. When she was just twenty years old she comes from a family of aviation and she calls herself a spoiled brat of aviation which seems a little harsh until you realize. She grew up flying where their father and a stagger wing. For most of her youth she learned to fly in tabora so at age nineteen got a private licence at twenty and she's been flying ever since she's worked for textron. Ao pa and now. She's currently the regional sales manager for the southeast for garment kelly. Thanks so much for joining us on the there. I was podcast so kelly. You have quite a hair raising story about flying your family back. In one. seventy two from gaskins white river resort on the way back to hicks airfield. You're flying. you're flying clubs one seventy two and experienced an engine failure. Yeah it was. It was definitely kind of the perfect storm of of situations because it was supposed to be a husband and my baby moon so to speak at seven months pregnant with our first child and had him in the airplane Labrador retriever in the backseats. Obviously mailo co-pilot with me. Yeah we were going to gaskins. White river resort for one last hurrah. It was a great trip really recommend going but on the way back i was over. Really ozark ozark mountains without many airports nearby and smoke in the cockpit. That was my first indication that there is something wrong. Obviously and i could tell. It was kind of an oily smell. But at that point it's just troubleshooting and making sure that i couldn't see that there is anything obvious. Obviously on fire or anything fatso. It's daytime is weather in issued is cleared a million Daytime midday without eleven noon timeframe. Okay in a about what time of years this this is november. So this is november last year. Okay great and about what altitude were you cruising it. So at that time. I was about to say it was about thirty five hundred feet. I wasn't up super high africa. Main reasons i was on fire away. I did not file a flight land as you know probably very few listeners would have this problem but when sediments fragment you probably need to stop somewhere young so we were we were kind of kind of just on an the our flight plan all away and having a good time and Joying enjoying barklay gut. It's the you had about a three hour flight or so home beautiful day. You just had a fabulous vacation with your husband. And you just kinda sauntering back really you know you're going to stop somewhere and you're up at three thousand feet which looks like maybe it's roughly a thousand feet ag l. or sos based on the terrain up there in that part of the country. And just flying back enjoying yourself until all the sudden you kind of start to smell a little bit of something in. Did you say you saw some smoke. Pretty much immediately fell the cockpit and you know when when that happens you always think through what that might look like in in just in our training figure out what your action plan is but until that happens to you. It's really startling. So the first thing i did was has started troubleshooting. Okay is it. Electrical is clearly a fire knows. I opened up the windows just to try to get some mayor his. Obviously i'm very cognizant of of what i'm reading that i'm you open. Open up the windows. He'll the cabin heat. Which is a crucial component. When it came down to it once they killed the cabin he smoke stopped so it was like okay you know. It's it smelled oil. A tell it was something like that and at that point dover might well pressure gauge and it was at zero at that point mike. My husband's a mechanical engineer. He's used overcrowded in a drone engines. Actually so he's very aware of of what that means is well. Luckily i was already talking to air traffic control since i was on the afar calling for that that type of a trip so immediately off with them and get them to try to at least for me to the closest

Was that my outside voice? It was pretty bad. Hey, Allison, I thought we got really good traction on the photo of my desk on our Facebook page, home and garden, Indiana what was with the empty whiskey bottle? There's a lot of people who felt heard and seen as if you know that's that's how they organized their desks as well. Yeah. It's just a others were having heart attacks. I do take somebody I know you have some people. I can't. I can't. I mean, recon. Tell it really upset him. But, uh, what did Danny what did you say? You said a clean desk is a sign of a sick mind. Sick mind. I had so many lectures. When I was in the plumbing business. I had 1000 things. In fact, I ordered a second desk just like it. Spread it out over two deaths instead of one. People coming in busting my chops. When I saw Pats desk, I thought that's normal. Clean desk is the sign of a sick mind. This is not normal. It's not normal. People say, Well, how do you find some? Because it's every depend on the time of year. I can tell how many inches down, something will be. So I know Like if I needed to get plant pricing that would at this point now would be about two and two and a quarter 2.5 inches down. I'm just looking at it now. It's just like a Where's Waldo? I know. I know. It zapped. You know where everything is, don't you? I do, but they had a chicken. Yeah, it's a little out of control. "Hurricane with winds of 150 miles an hour. What forecasters call an unsurvivable 20. FT Storm surge is possible. Arizona's governor and first lady will be at the White House tonight when President Trump gives his acceptance speech on the final night of the Republican National Convention. And the Griffin fired just north of Globe has exploded in size. It's now charged 60,000 acres. US. 60 remains closed between Globe and the state route, 73 turn off to White River. That's a 70 mile stretch. You're never more than 15 minutes away from today's top stories on Arizona's new Station News, Our news newsmaker Protesters organized by Black lives matter, Phoenix Metro and put Aaron Action gathered in downtown Phoenix last night, calling for an end to police violence. It was pretty tame here, but violent protests continued in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They've been going on for three straight months in Portland. We're joined now by America County's top prosecutor, Alistair No, Alistair. Thanks for being his first off. We've had some civil unrest here in the valley, although not to the level in other cities and Gilbert last week. Pro police anti police protesters mixing it up a week before eight people arrested in downtown Phoenix and four were arrested on Sunday for crimes allegedly committed a previous demonstrations. How busy is this? Keeping your office and what do you factor in? When deciding to charge or not charge protesters. Well, good morning and thank you for having me. It has kept us someone busy specifically to the Scottsdale mall that was looted and stuff We have about five call correctly. We've got about Let's see here. About three more cases that need to be submitted to our office and they have not yet been submitted. But we've reviewed a significant amount of those already some of them we had to send back to the police agencies to get more information on DH, So we're working hard on those cases. Those air signed our first responders Bureau. As for the protesters, no A lot of those cases. 111 of the arrests that were made that may leave earlier in the summer were sent to sea of Phoenix to prosecute misdemeanors. We're talking with America. But county attorney Alistair Adele Ah story of Hattie my newscast this morning your offices settled a lawsuit with the EU. Agreeing to pay $24,000 and release the public information records that were requested in 2018. Now, the hell you at the time was investigating how the county attorney's office functioned under your predecessor. Did you say problems with how things were functioning back then? I was actually one of my first priorities taking the office because I was aware of the lawsuit and the backlog of public records requests that were taking sometimes nine months to a year to get out. So I'm a blink big believer and organizational improvement. Lean process improvement. So we put eyes on that specific area right away because the public the media Groups that one of their criminal justice system succeed. Have a right to that information and get to have swiftly So I'm trying to say that within a short couple of months we eliminate the backlog and now request Take Sometimes days. They're just weeks, so he really turned it around in there because it was an issue, and I'm proud to say that we started that project The day after I was sworn in. Have you seen any problem with activist organizations using for the Freedom of Information Act to try and clog up prosecutors, offices and other agencies of government agencies? No, I don't think so, and ultimately have a right to the information. We're have a longer turnaround. Time is when somebody wants that. You know what? There's 11 banker boxes from a destiny a case that we have to redact that takes a little bit longer. But nobody. We don't see a flood of that at all. I think you know, saying normal amount and the requester are completely justifiable and normal. And we are once again talking with on Arizona's Morning news with Maricopa County Attorney Alistair Adele. Arizona is known for some of the toughest deal why penalties in the nation and earlier this week your office launched a home detention program for misdemeanor DUI offenders. Do you think this is a better option than jail time as far as a deterrent or punishment? I do it if I look at it in a little bit different way because most major cities and counties already had home detention, so after that initial period of 24 hours that you have to be incarcerated. This allows the person to have very little destruction to their lives, meaning they could keep their jobs. Bingo school, And for me, that's an economic issue. We want people back and working, and we want to look at this type of program to reduce recidivism. So that's the goal with this. Have that little disruption, get people back and working being successful. I'm getting the treatment that they need as well. By the way, I've been pretty open and honest about this on the radio. I'm a recovering alcoholic. I have years of sobriety, but I did some of my biggest drinking at home, and I don't know why I never got a d u I I drove drunk hundreds of times. It's not something I'm proud of. But I have to admit this. So is this really going to stop people from, you know, continuing this bad behavior if they're just given the ability to stay home? Well, I applaud you for your sobriety and your testament to that Do I think it's going to be a deterrent? Or is it gonna increase things? We have to see that I can tell you that. But other cities doing the Scottsdale we looked at their model PHOENIX. I don't suspect this is going to have an instinctive if you will to go drinking drive, and you know what star bars are more open. I'm sure that will be another uptick in into your eyes again. But right now there's not a lot going on. Obviously. Most of us are still at home or shelter in place. All right, thanks a lot. Alistair Del is the Maricopa County attorney, the county's top prosecutor. It's 6 48 Hour shift gears, not Entertainment News who Stacy Brooks brought to you by body.

S. B. your home with the dogs I would get mailed back mildew are you back with us I'm Paul hi can still barely hear you mail to the real quick we have well yeah I would love to be in an audience only from the floor of parliament but I would like to be on the stage on for mmhm mmhm you want to introduce president trump what he called one more thought on all the points that I've known about I think but he's done more for the country than all previous forty four combined I think it's safe to say that he has certain you know why he felt so much money to build up the name of the forms of the animal yeah and that's a that's amazing too like the trump family mill that has made zero dollars during this presidency what like a vodka and Jerry they didn't make eighty million dollars last year Eric has not made a hundred million dollar it's crazy the sacrifices they've made what wall walls.

"Afternoon especially north of the city so that cold front will begin to move through about ten thirty eleven o'clock that's when we really start to pick up on precipitation again showers just south of I. seventy arena mixing in with a few snow flakes here in Indianapolis and I think we have a better chance especially northern Indiana for picking up on this point now that system is going to continue to shift southeast so it should take a lot of the precipitation out with it once we get closer to dinnertime this is gonna be a brief break before we see additional precipitation develop once we get to late Thursday and Friday so for today we start off dry might even see a few rays of sunshine thirty degrees and then we'll start to see cloud cover increased chance of precipitation increases well by noon forty degrees in the mid to upper forties by five the clock with the last of the showers beginning to exit in our eastern communities so we do see improvement as we get deeper into the day and closer to the evening and overnight hours we are tracking our next system by the end of the week and this can actually pack a punch in terms of snowfall accumulation especially north of Indianapolis so we're gonna time that next system out free and show your times are headed after that coming up in my full forecast where we see for the most part should be in really good shape we're not seeing any issues heading out in about this is near the north side I for sixty five near White River and it doesn't seem to be too impacted by any kind it's called the colder conditions that as commuter activity looks relatively light they're both directions of the I. four sixty five upset that's usual run I think you'd be a okay at least for this morning not seeing a whole lot of issues for commuters at least at this time so if you are heading out in about in your drive times coming in from the south side should.

I, I drove by goes military park, and there was a big group. I don't know part of this is you, you carry a tire around, like a big, like, is it like a cross fit thing where you have a tire or concrete block the hell with that? How about carrying around bags to asphalt? Patch? And this drop them in a whole, maybe one guy, every other guy asphalt patch tamper asphalt paints tamper. And then one guy drops it in the other guy comes in tamp sit in the whole. How about that? Wow. How's your drive in Mr. Sullivan? It was horrific I didn't hit the interstate thing Burleson. Flooding rain threatening lives, property from eastern Texas to Mississippi

"Parts of the south central USA. Hammered by severe weather in flash floods this past week going to face some long-term river flooding right onto the rest of this month and even into June. According to the numbers we saw over the weekend southeastern Texas the Houston area hit by several rounds of flooding downpours damaging winds last week. The tail end of that onslaught of severe weather in heavy rain finally came through Saturday into Sunday morning. In areas from eastern Texas to Mississippi Louisiana, but look at the rainfall numbers going back from last Tuesday to Sunday this past day mother's day. Rainfall totals is highest fourteen and a quarter inches near Richmond. Texas just over fourteen inches near Perkins. Ston mississippi. Looks like the dry weather's gonna hold on for that region. Today could see some showers returning to eastern Texas by Tuesday. Rain not expected to trigger any widespread concern for aggravated flooding, dry weather should hold across the lower Mississippi valley through most of this week, but the river flooding may continue into the month of June. As floodwaters rivers further north continue making their way, southward toward the Gulf of Mexico, adding to the ongoing flooding on the lower Mississippi River. Now, heavy potentially severe thunderstorms may return next weekend to eastern Texas and the lower Mississippi valley, so we could see additional rises on the rivers. Moderate to major flooding already occurring along nearly the entire length of the Mississippi River from the Illinois border to west of New Orleans, the entire stretch also flooding taking place along the Missouri. Survive the Wabash and the white river's as well as other rivers there in the central USA. It looks like although the water levels on the smaller rivers should begin to fall below flood stage by maybe the middle part of this week. It's gonna take one or maybe two weeks for a crest to be reached along the lower portions of the Mississippi River minor flooding expected to continue through this week at Memphis, Tennessee, before the water level finally drops below flood stage there, however, the Mississippi Vicksburg Mississippi. Is not expected to reach its crest of fifty feet, which by the way, major flood stage till probably sometime nineteenth or twentieth. In other words, next weekend. Now in Baton Rouge. It may take until the final week of may for the river to crest there. The national weather service said they're expecting the river Baton Rouge to rise to forty four feet which will significantly affect shipping and industrial activities along the river. Although not forecast or each record flood stage will remain above major flood stage right on into the at least the end of may major flood stage.

Oh, you bet. I love I like travelling like meeting people we've been we had a bit of a which we just decided to take. The mental March we took full month off, which we hardly ever do that. But it was nice. It was actual time. Away from the road. But now guys I mean, I'm not used to not playing like I'm looking forward to getting back out. We take the Sunday. I know. Okay. And one thing that I'm curious about and some time we asked comedians. This would they come on our program. You guys been at this for awhile. I believe the band formed in sixty seven he resigned in seventy one do you guys have been hit machine for a long time. Have you noticed any change in the audiences because a lot of comedians will tell us they can't really do some of the same stuff? They used to do. I'm wondering if it's like that for you guys on stage that are rocking it out. No. I mean, of course, I've seen changes in audience. Friends and family will mostly friends audiences. That's you know, you get with faces. Across the country. We played cross our great country. Geez. How many times I mean, we play every year all over? So we've gotten to know a lot of the people in the crowd. I mean, it's we'll see him. And we've seen them them grow up in their kids. Come and then their kids. It's like. We don't have the same problem comedians. I see where they might have a problem with. Certain subjects or certain times of language or whatever. But not us. I mean, we they come and they buy chicken to show they expect to hear certain songs, and we give it to them. We do hunting doing better now than we ever done. So I can't wait to come Indy.
