"To have hands can't dance and it's GMC Kentucky and Z that was how it was a retitled after the lawsuit. You know the world right now. But you can steal your money. Yes indeed. And actually bought a fantasy. He clearly didn't start because fantasy had been a jazz label for years. The Weiss had it. And he purchased it with some partners in 67. And that's when they signed the unknown CCR. And John fogerty. And of course, in the deal, as you can imagine, fantasy owns the distribution and all the publishing rights and all that kind of stuff and forward he had to sign away even more than that to get out of the deal. And what he was saying there were a lot of bad investments and all that. So in the 80s, zinc sued fogerty, claiming plagiarism from fogerty's own music. It was a bizarre case he has $440 million in he wound up losing, but then forward countersued and asked for the attorney fees, and he won that actually. And the whole experience is on center field, including mister Reed, advance can't dance. But defamation of character lawsuits followed to say the least and then there were copyright laws that didn't lost on that. A jury found that he was not liable and forwarding a claim that fantasy and Zayn misled him about investing as earnings. Well, one thing we know for sure is the money that CCR made for zant's led him finance a film career, and he received a best picture Oscar for three films. And of course, I don't go to movies, so don't ask me. But in any event, there were some interesting things that involved a lot of famous actors and all that. And so they did well. They then have the opportunity to take it down to administrative hearings. So an administrator judge would then decide what the fine will be exactly precisely correct. That hasn't happened yet. So what? The judges now there's there's There will be an interesting conversation. Not suppose Anybody is going to give him $10,000 a day, but they could but say it's 100 bucks a day, and you did it for a week. That's $700 out of the guy's pocket that's trying to run a business and you're a patron of the business. I I know you're mad at the city and you can be mad at God and Covid and everything. But don't take it out on the business. You're in their store. You're in their club for crying out loud. I don't know that all the counties or cities are operating that way. But that's the process you call 311. And you tell on the business. Listen, and I don't mean you shouldn't And then the city will investigate that, and that's the business owners problem. The police are another agency that could get involved and they would then be the ones would go after the individual not following the mandate. The the order or the the ordinance. Police will go after the individuals. This other agency goes after the businesses. Most of the sheriff's in Chicago land have no interest in enforcing this, and I understand that too. "So I I was, of course, keeping an eye on this and checking in with some family members about it of whether or not they had power. Some of them did not. So as this major storm went, went through Texas, and for the first time ever, every county in Texas was under some kind of winter advisory, which was kind of fun. Heard of. And there's people seeing snow sometimes for the first time in their lives, But what it's done is the power grid system in Texas is very, very different than it is here. Where you kind of don't really have a choice. You kind of have a monopoly of if you moved to this area, this is the utility company used. It's a very different and very competitive system. And we're seeing that really put to the test. Right now. In Texas, as rolling blackouts started pretty much right away as the power grid was really being stressed. Then we started to see these rolling blackouts stretching much longer. What was supposed to be 15 30 minutes. We're going into much longer reports of much longer blackouts. The interesting the other thing. I'm keeping an eye on the Oh, is that wholesale electricity prices because the system is a bit different. On Monday, they surpassed the grids price gap of $9000 per megawatt out, so the average prices is $25 per Megawatt hour on the Texas grid, and we're getting up there in $9000. What his what had previously been kind of the record was during the heat wave of 2019. Those really stressed, and here we have. It is just kind of blown all those records and changed all that right now, So there's a There's an economic piece that I'm watching very closely to the interesting You normally think about that in a warm weather thing, But I guess with power lines down, it's a cold weather thing, too, and we We're out of time. "Our WGN radio news director is a collector of these talk to us about that last week. But he didn't mention what you told me. To Michael Jordan. Rookie cards in mint condition. My reading this right? Steve just sold for $738,000 each In March of last year, the same card was going for less than 50 grand. For some reason, it's now worth $738,000. A lot of it is that investors like to have something physical in their hands, as opposed to buying Sheriff stock, perhaps, but I would buy gold bullion. Now that's something I mean, Really a Michael Jordan card three quarters of a million times to. Meanwhile, last month you wrote an ultra rare Alfa Black Lotus magic. The gathering card. I don't even know what I just said. I don't either sold for $511,000, shattering the old record of 166 K. So, like silver, like Bitcoins, like shares of game stop On Dow trading cards. There's very funny markets out there these days. My brother in law plays magic, the gathering. I don't know anything about it, but he's been playing it since I've known him. Does he have the ultra rare Alfa Black Lotus Magic card? I don't know, but I can ask him $511,000 if he does, what's it called again? I don't know. Ultra rare. I don't think this is Chinese to me. Alfa Black Lotus Magic. Gathering card $511,000. So let's ask Ari Peck about this. Hey, carry your own attorney you deal with will's in the states if I had something like that in my collection. Should I specifically list the things that are of high value for my will or estate planning and say who killed Who gets it? Where goes Good morning, John. Thanks for having me. The answer is yes. If you don't want it sold if you want that lotus card to go toe, you know your granddaughter. Then, if you specifically bequeathed that's still legal term that card to your granddaughter. On the other hand, if you want all of the grandchildren to split your money, then it's quite likely the residue of your estate would be sold, including that card and all the money split, so it's called a specific request of a specific piece of property. Or a specific amount of money. Well, Do people care what happens like when I die? What do I care what you do with my Michael Jordan card? Maybe people do. I don't know. Well to a lot of people. It's an emotional decision as well. And don't forget during lifetime. You know, maybe you developed a close relationship with their grandchild or your son. You attended a lot of bulls games. What's the last dance together, so it becomes both an emotional Anna a monetary issue. It just seemed to have Hands strong the kid, right? Like, if you have that Michael Jordan car. You want them to have them and you want them to keep it? I guess you get to decide whatever you want, then they can't sell it. If you said I don't ever want this to leave the family this ridiculous Basketball card. You could say that right? You could say that, but it's likely a death point once goes to somebody else, The kids and the grandkids. It's likely to be unenforceable. You know, there may be family pressure on that child to keep it but Nobody is going to run the court and say, you know, in Lisa, it's unlikely anybody's gonna run the court say that. Oh, that grandchild wants to sell the card. Cherry Peck is the managing partner of Peck, Richie Peck ritchie dot com Is this law firm site? They specialize in elder law. The last time you run with us, Carrie, we got a bunch of questions. We didn't get them all answer, and I thought I would just bounce a couple of them off of you. And here's a real nuts and builds one that you didn't even get to if I type up my own will and have it notarized. And sealed to be open after my passing. Would that holdup legally, I'll just ride it up myself. Have a notary. Watch me sign it. Put it in an envelope. Leave it in a drawer. Does that work legally? Generally it does not. Illinois requires that we have what's called an act test station claws, and that attestation clause requires that two witnesses basically acknowledged In presence of a notary that you John Williams air of sound mind and memory and that nobody was forcing you to sign the document. So if you add an attestation cause and you have to a notary, you know, potentially, it would work. But I have to tell you without exception, every home made will that I've ever seen. Eyes causes problems leaves the family in disarray and quite often is denied effectiveness in the probate court. What happens if Mom and dad die and There's a diamond ring that one or both of them has or automobiles. I'm thinking of things that have high value. How is that normally handled? I mean, should those cars be listed in one of those documents you were talking about? Or is that Tend to be liquidated or one kid takes the car. How's that normally handled Again. It really depends on what the person creating the will. Who ultimately, you know, passes away wants to happen on a certainly jewelry is ah of considerable emotional attachment. Many mothers want their jewelry to go to their daughters of their granddaughters. And they specifically leave that diamond ring cars are the same. If Dad's gotta, you know, 1969 Corvette convertible. Hey, may want it that car to go to this son. Um, if there's no provision that it goes to someone, specifically it's quite likely it will be sold liquidated and the money of the you know, spread around the family. And you could be his fair. Unfair is you want about it right? Like the kids may say, Well, he got the Corvette and you know, I got the linens or something, right? But that's it doesn't have to be here. Indefinitely. Yeah, you can definitely be is unfair is you want Which is why people should do a will. Because if you want to be fair, quote unquote on you don't do a will. The state of Illinois is already created A will for you. And on that. Basically is designed so that if you leave a spouse, half the money goes to your spouse and half the money goes to your Children or half of your property. So if you want to specifically leave assets In whatever proportion. If it's entirely unfair, As you point out, then you must write a will and you can certainly do that. Do you recommend? I've heard families do this. The kids I don't know where they are and everybody's stage of life. But they Maybe talk to their parents about it. They go. Okay. I want the sofa. He wants the car. She wants the diamond like Do you recommend that people just Bring it right out in the open and say, who wants what and we'll figure out values or desires. Well, there is from time to time of benefit to having that discussion to avoid the legal battles after death. On the other hand, in many circumstances like that. The family dynamic changes dramatically and it gets worse. So don't forget it the end of the day. This is the you know the parents decision. We frequently have parents coming in with on Lee, one out of three Children to do estate planning and we meet with the family. You know, I served him coffee. Tell us why you're here. And then I asked the Children to leave. And more often than not the Children think Mom or Dad is going to do something completely. We different than what Mom or Dad has to say. So, uh, it cuts both ways. I mean, you know if the family could sit down and reasonably do it without screaming and yelling and the hatred growing as a result, then potentially could be done, but usually it doesn't work. "And into Sunday, we will be looking at some light accumulation. I don't think it's gonna be very impactful, but but it will be. We will get some snow. If we got out there right now weighs a ton weighs a ton. It does it does, and it's compacting itself. And it's not going anywhere. You people keep asking me when there's no gonna belt I think your march Maybe March. 5th. Maybe the Ides of March. That's really not funny. Dimitrius. That's hot. I want to come over there and punch you in the nose. How would you like that? You're not the only you've got to get in line. Sock you right in the plus. All right, So that's it. I know you got to run, but I think that's pretty much everything. I need to know anything else. You think that we should be aware of? Just this upcoming weekend. Don't be outside during the late overnight or early morning. It's just very dangerous. When when shows frost bite times you're going to be wait. I mean, you're talking when you get down to 2013 10 minutes, so Um, if you don't need to be outside, don't be outside. Of course, bring animals inside. Um and, you know, make sure that you can just stay warm because it z gonna be extremely cold. Make sure it's ivory over Channel nine. WGN TV helps us out on this show A lot of nice talk to Dimitrius. Thanks for the heads up with pleasure. Yeah, he said it's 11 50 on WGN. Steve Alexander. Are you near your microphone right beside a job. Okay, well, so the other day, you said the average net worth of an American, and then you had these ranges and prices and I'd looked at that article after you mentioned it, right. I think that's They're a couple things to jump out of me. Were you surprised by some of this research? Okay, I am. I'll tell you. Why. Well, because it's said that the average American has 900 no. Has 748th out the net worth of the average American is $748,000. That sounds crazy. High to me. I thought we were all worth like. $24,000 or something. Well, that's that's the problem with using the average instead of the median, and the average is skewed really high because there are you know, all of these hedge fund billionaire isn't everybody else that's right that have gotten so much richer during the pandemic as an example. But the median I didn't see the media number four for that. But that number would be considerably less. Well. Okay, So then I They did break it down on this one article that CNBC, at least by age bracket, you can compare the median versus the average And just to underscore the point you made say, I make 50,000 and eloped Makes 50,000 And you make 1.1 million. The average would be 400,000. We would the average the three of us divided by that 1.2 million before 100,000. But nobody's making 400,000. You've got 1.1 million Elefant. I have 50,000 and 50 thousands of them. The median would be 50,000. That would be the number in the middle is many people on either side, and that would be a better representation of the of the worth of the three of us. It's closer to 50 except for one outlier, that's you. Well, the average gets its more sensational on OK, so like we need to stop talking about that and talk about the media, and so then they did that in this article. If you were between 35 44 The average. I'm going to stop mentioning that, but I'll make this point is $436,000 your net worth if you're under 44? 436, but the median is 91,000. It still sounds high to me, but I mean, there's the point. It's like 1/5 of what it would be otherwise. So the median For people 35 to 44 is 91,000. If you're 55 to 64 Middle ground is 212,000 as many people on either side Some of the really rich on the one side 65 to 74. It's 266,075 plus 254,000 so Anybody over 55. It's going to be about a quarter of a million dollars. Your network, your network, You know assets minus your debt. Much of that is due to equity in your home. Being growing as you get older, I suppose so. Really? So I guess that does talk about them. That points to the savings that we probably have, because save that a couple $100,000. In your sixties in your home only 401 k gyrate. Okay, But my point is, you probably don't have much in a savings account. You're probably not very liquid, right? You don't have a lot of cash to spend. If that does include the equity in your house, and obviously it does. I mean, I guess that makes the point that I was trying to make earlier. That the amount of money any of us has to spend is not as much as it should be. Well, just read one more line here, millennials on average. Have about $78,000 of debt. Credit cards, Installment loans, mortgages, student loans, I guess millennials 78 K boomers 135,000. On average death by age boomers have even more. I guess that makes sense, but it's maybe not as alarming if they've got a lot more on the asset side as well, right? What is the network for people? 75 plus 2 54. The average network is 977,000. So just I guess something to think about when you hear those numbers tossed around that the media in this You know how you've got me thinking about the Russell 2000 more. I'm now going to start thinking about median instead of average. Okay, Well, I mean, you know here, 55 to 64 55 to 64. They're going to tell you the average net worth of somebody 55 to 64. Is $1.2 million, and you're going to feel really bad if you don't have $1.2 million? Yeah, I don't know if this is any consolation, but the media and if you're just saying, Well, how'm I doing relative to my peers. It's 212,000. It's about a million less. It's 212,000 and 2 12 again Sounds, I think, hi to some people, but at least it's better than what you were hearing. Otherwise, it's more equitable way to look at those numbers. Ah, yeah, I think it just It just makes more sense. The media number matters more. And then one other, um, story that I'll just mention here. Ls that we got about 45 seconds. But if you go to WGN radio dot com, you'll hear our conversation with the police superintendent who said that? The police are doing is good a job as they can. He's frustrated with the justice system. I was trying to get him to say Kim Foxx, he said. I'm not going to do that. Which is fine, but I thought that's what he wanted to say. He's if he's mad at anybody mad at the judges that are not passing harshing of sentences. People that are Carjacking in Chicago. And that may be because the laws are too lenient. And there's a story in the Sun times today. Stefano Esposito is writing about how now because they said that if you are taking public transportation, Airlines trains Busses, you have to wear a mask. The police they're gonna have to start policing that. And I was begging him to make a bigger presence by the cops on the bus is in the trains in Chicago, he said. So you'd have tol talk to Kim Faxes office. But you know these clients these kids the time for him is a little bit older. In terms of whether criminal charges are going to be bloody. The statute of limitations is or if there is one in cases like this or not. There is, you know, not being a prosecutor. I don't want express an opinion after that, So you know I'm handling their respective civil claims. In terms of trying to get those results. Do you handle cases like this? Have you dealt with people that have been abused by members of the clergy before? I've handled dozens of cases like this, You know many cases involving father McCormick I was going to be using many, many kids. We settled many of those cases and when he came closer, because how is it that somebody who has done so much good who has been so selfless and positive in the community? Controversial of times, but a force of good in the community. How is that possible, and this is really the position the church has been taking. How's it possible that somebody could be that good and yet do something so reprehensible so bad. Well, you look at what happened with Daniel McCormack. Jenna McCormick was like a rock star within the archdiocese. These kids worship them. They loved him. He was their coach. He took him two sacks games, and that was the process of grooming. And under that guise, he was able to abuse many, many Children, and you know, we have a situation here where a corner my client's father flavor groom them by teaching one of the older clients how to drive. Taking the pizza for pizza. Would he give them money consistently? Yes. The younger client described getting 2040. Sometimes $60 routinely From father flavor. So the note that he would ask for money in that letter, which partly has been released, um, is not entirely inconsistent with maybe the relationship he had had with him in the past. You know, it's not inconsistent and what my younger client wanted. If he didn't really want the money he wanted Father Flavier to send the money is his admission of guilt again. If this was 10 15 20 years ago, by the way, and that 10 years ago, my client's been Plane for 12 years. But it was 15 20 years ago, when my client was at the depths of despair needed money for his drug habit. Perhaps that would have raised an interesting question. But my client's life has been completely turned around. He's married, he's employed. He's counseling individuals. But he's coming to grips with what Father flavor did you have seen Hollander is theater knee for Michael Flaggers. "And that is Ryan Burrow. The WGN radio news directors in our studio. What did Dr Allison are? What he say today? Yes, some interesting things trying to clarify by the way she's getting her second vaccine. Today at one of the city College is one of the sights they've set up where the frontline workers have been getting their vaccine is Part of one A, but really the focus today on one B. These are teachers. These are first responders, firefighters, paramedics, police officers. Also, we've had much discussion about on WGN up. Prisoners would also fall people in the prison community. Both workers as well as inmates would fall in this category under the governor statements, so Those vaccinations can begin. January 25th. Now if you fall in that category, you've probably got a lot of questions and what Dr Ellison are what he said The commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health is there going to be four ways in which these vaccines are administered Number one. You go to your doctor call up set up an appointment. Say I need to get this vaccine. I fall in this category and then you guys can kind of negotiate scheduling there. Number two pharmacies will be distributing these vaccines so you can go to a target or a Walgreens or CBS get the vaccine there. Once again, everything is going to be by appointment. They don't want big, long lines, especially in the dead of winter like this. It's just not a thorough way to do this. They will be traveling to some of these communities that maybe Are underserved the homeless population and giving them vaccines. And the fourth way is actually some employers will be able to distribute and administer at work. Which is something I know that We've talked about here. I'm sure people are listening who working downtown settings also wondering Hayes, the boss going toe be able to get someone to come in and vaccinate all of us. So the category one be includes teachers? Yes. Inmates. Yes, the other people in there would be any other medical people that have not been vaccinated rights. Paramedics, people, maybe first responders, police, firefighters and you'll make an appointment with your doctor. Go to Walgreens and say, Hey, I want to get it and if and then they'll put you on their list. Perhaps you have to demonstrate that you're in one of those groups. I'm not exactly sure how you prove your teacher or whatever, but then It's not a guarantee that they'll have the vaccine. No, and what she said is the way the vaccine is coming into The city right now is way below. Where demands gonna be the only got about 5% of the vaccine in they think in three weeks, you know that's going to step up. But, you know, just because you're a firefighter, and you're part of this one be or you're a teacher doesn't mean you're gonna be able to go to a CVS on Monday and get a vaccine. They're gonna prioritize, especially these doctors offices they're going to say. Yes, You are one beer, but we've got, you know, 65 year olds. We've got people with health conditions who you know would essentially be in the queue. We wanna administer to them first before we get to you so You know, Sit tight is what she's saying. This could take several weeks, maybe a few months before you're actually eligible. Even

"Pretty well. I wanted to talk to you about the fake commute. What is the fake commute? You know, this is another one of those kind of interesting, creative kind of solutions that have come up through the pandemic. It is exactly what it sounds like The bacon boot is this was reported by CNN. It's picking off is a trend of people kind of feeling like hate light my home life and my work life are blurring too much. Now that I work from home beat away to separate them. And a lot of people felt like, Hey, you know, my commute was when I was outside in nature or when I looked, everything goes on their watch The trees change or when we read that listens, audio books or whatever. And so for the own mental health. You know, people have started time creating city commute, and that could be anything from Going on a dry in the morning and then coming back home and getting to work going on a walk things that because school feeling like Hey, that was important part of my day. That Billy of some thinking, right compressed of the day. So it's been a thing that people are starting to Ruby. Create it and stuff and help professionals are indoor. Amy Goose. Is not talking through a rubber band, but she's got a little twang there, doesn't she? Amy, I'm hanging up on you. I'm gonna call you right back. Let's reconnect with a less less echoey 20 phone connection here that same because you're listening to the wind trust business lunch, so Topic one. The rise of the fake commute will talk also about virgin orbit. And we'll also talk about Apple and the foldable iPhone, which is a hot topic and product these days. This is the Wintrust business Lunch on WGN. It's 12 49. Northwestern medicine newsroom for WGN radio news in 11 minutes and then Anna did want is who probably just heard that went all crap, but I suspect all of our connections will be better. Of one o'clock. Let's set reconnect now with Amy Goof. Hey, Amy. We're talking about this fake commute. So I understand your point that a lot of people as much as they hate the community. It's the time they Zone out. Listen to a podcast. Listen to WGN radio, for crying out loud. And if you if you lose the commute, you lose that that activity is what you're missing. Yeah, it's two parts. It's both losing that activity or that time to reflect or be outside. But it's also making a cure delineation between your life thing work life because it's so easy to kind of blur all the things you got pets. Welcome to crush the people you've got, You know, just people. Kind of like working. Never jealous is it is a get out of bad things like that. It's kind of just thinking of getting up ready. Even the house doing a ritual to formally start working just formally ended because so someone frames that our work is getting a little longer because we're home anyway, so it already feels like a party Hamas. You want the people, adding a lot more work during a time when people are already kind of stressed out because of everything going on. No, this is again. This is reported by CNN. Kind of taking a look at. I think that clearly that the people are and some some bosses or, you know, some companies are endorsing to help people functioned better during this work. Well, what's the replacement activity? So I was in my car doing that thing having my own Zen Is it? Take a walk? Is it just sit there and do yoga? What do they suggesting? It's a bunch of different person. All right. So what if it was my my? What a strange. I always thought about turning or regard or whatever some people call it needed to listen. Torto book or a podcaster friendship. 17 radio for a little while. Sami Goose on the Wind Trust business lunch, we'll give it one more try. And then we're just going to play records. This story from Bloomberg is also in the news. Today, Apple Inc has begun early work on an iPhone with the foldable screen. Potential rival. The similar devices from Samsung Electronics. Send others, though it's planning on Lee minor changes for this year's iPhone line. The Cupertino, California based company has developed a prototype foldable screens. For internal testing has not solidified plans to actually launch a foldable iPhone. The development work has not expanded beyond display. Meaning Apple does not yet have the full handset prototypes in its labs, according to somebody familiar with the work like Samsung's Galaxy fold Motorola, razor reboot and other offerings from Chinese companies. Ah, foldable iPhone would let Apple make a device with the larger screen. And aim or pocketable package. Apple has internally discussed in a number of foldable screen sizes, including one that unfolds to a similar size as the 6.7 Inch display on the iPhone. 12 pro Max. Current foldable phones have screens that are from six and eight inches unfolded. It's a fascinating idea. You open up your phone and then the screen. That's really what you're using it for, and I guess open up your phone would be you just display your phone, but then the screen can fold out to a larger size still. Upwards of nine inches. If that's the model that you get, and they would not be the first ones to market with this, But what a terrific idea last chance for you, Amy on this day we had a little more time. I'm sorry. We're having trouble connecting. Are you still there? I'm here. Sorry. The robots working against us today? Yeah, I don't even know that it's gonna work now. But let's give it one more try. And if not all, I'll just pass along a couple of other business stories. Let's leave them the commute at home, find some other way to use that time you would have been commuting to some personal growth or growth or ah, meditation on talk to me about Virgin orbit, launching rocket off a 7 47 aircraft. That sounds fantastic If they do this Yeah, This seems like there's a lot of details in this story that just being too bizarre to be true. But indeed, a 70 70 ft rocket that was fit fitted kind.

I don't understand why one side at the end of the dad, they painted bl him on a big wall in yellow letters. So it seems to me like it's pretty one side of them what we're doing here. What do you think of what happened in Washington on Wednesday? I think that was horrible. I don't think the American people should act like that. I don't understand why we watched it at non Veum hour after hour after hour when the whole country burned down this summer. What Portland is still is still under siege. Talk to me about what happened on Wednesday for just a second. E mean, they're talking about insurrection Do what do you think should happen to the people that broke into the capital? I think they should be punished. I truly think they should be punished. And one last question about all of that. What do you think the president's responsibility or Republicans that were urging the gathering and the fight in the combat? What responsibility do they bear? They bear a lot of responsibility. But the Democrats also bear a lot of responsibility for what's happened all summer by pushing that, and Kiefer's just some sort of little peaceful group. You know, they murdered a federal agent in Oakland in May. Guarding a federal building. I never heard a word about it Find for me. The person who said that on TIFA is a peaceful little group. "The House of Representatives has paused the proceedings. But the headlines on the TV sets across the country and world today Donald Trump to become the only president impeached twice. Which may be all that they're trying to do is punish him or or it may be that they actually think they got a shot at this thing. Or maybe that distinction doesn't matter. Maybe they think he deserves it. And maybe this actually will succeed in keeping him from running for reelection in 2024. They're trying to preserve democracy from another Donald Trump presidency will visit with one of our area Congress people, Brad Schneider from the 10th Congressional District, the North Shore and north suburbs along I 94 That's his district. I talked to him a little bit about his vote and a couple of other things, including the fact that when the capital was stormed last week, when the insurrectionists ran up and into the capital, they then wish to the members of Congress into smaller chambers. And so you see the video of them all hanging out kind of milling about with nothing to do. Late at night. Some of them had mass on some of them did not. He's upset because is he one of the Congress people? LF that contracted the coronavirus. Ah, so he did contract the coronavirus after that, And he's mad because some of the people worrying mass. Some of the people were not wearing masks on this video that shows them coming up to the people that weren't wearing massing here. Would you please put this mask on? They just shook their head. No. Now he has the virus will visit with him A little later on after the 10 o'clock, WGN radio news Here's Kevin most from Northwestern Central DuPage Hospital High Doctor Welcome to the show. Hey, John, How are you doing? Pretty good. That is a little surprising to me, though, in that you think that all the members of Congress? I don't know? I thought they would have to be Passing daily tests together in chambers. So even though you're in a smaller room if you're all negative, it's not going to spontaneously erupt. But evidently somebody had it in that room. And now a lot of people have been infected. Yeah, I'm not sure how often they were getting tested until they were getting tested. But I'm not sure it was daily. So you still have that window? Unfortunately, you did. You saw they were definitely in close contact. They were all close there. Well, there might take a couple hours, so certainly Uh, represented cider should be upset, and it certainly wasn't a show of leadership to protect each other in that moment. Is this still true? I could be negative. I could get a negative test. But in fact I could have it because I don't have enough of the virus in me yet. It hasn't grown enough. Yep. Yep. So it's not so much of false negative where the test you know failed. It was that we didn't have enough viral load toe where we got to a point where we could capture and making a positive test. So then what's the time between a negative test? And I've given it a chance to see if In fact, I have it or not, like I wonder how much time I we're looking at 2 to 5 days? Yep. Let me ask you this doctor. How well do you think we're doing on the rollout of the vaccine here in the Chicago area? John, You know, I think that that the question is is a interesting question, because when we look at the rollout of the vaccine right now, we're looking at doing hospitals and health care providers in for that portion of it. I think we're doing pretty darn good. You know, if you look at what we're doing in Northwestern, I want to say we're close to 30,000 that we've already done just hit Northwestern alone, which is more than Some states have done But the bigger question is, what are we going to do for the next step? Once we're done with the health care providers? How are we going to now? Go to that one B group of the vulnerable people. Those over the age of 65. The logistics for that is going to be the biggest question. Most hospitals couldn't have 1000 2000 people coming on to their campus every day, just from the logistics of parking. And how do we get them through here? We have a captive audience. You know, we know we're gonna do the fourth floor today. The third floor and we we have the people already here on campus toe. Do that, and we contract them much easier. Doctor are what he said That 94% was 90 plus percent of the vaccines in Illinois will be distributed not through the state of city but through partners. Walgreens, Costco stuff like that. But I'm thinking, Okay, then where do I sign up? Um, um I and a group. I have not heard a consistent message from anybody about how you sign up for the vaccine. How do I get in line there? Part of the biggest frustrations. We have. So what we're looking at now, and I know a lot of the medical groups to page medical group, the Northwestern medical group were starting to look now. Okay. We have all the information on the patients. Let's start pushing messages out to them. As soon as we know the logistics of where we're gonna be able to offer that You know, for the age, it's easy 65 above. Okay, great. We don't have a lot of information on people's employment. We don't know if somebody was accountant and now is a bus driver, or you know what their actual occupation is to get them into that group as well. So that's the frustrating part off the how and where are we going to do the next ones? You know, we talked about taking over the United Center. Well, that's great for people in the city and on the West side of the city, But it certainly isn't going to be good for someone that lives. In Barrington, right. So we really are gonna have to look at Are we gonna have mass vaccination sites in high schools now because they're essentially empty and it's great that we have partners like Walgreens stepping up and Wal Mart and Jewel Osco, But really, when you look at the logistics of that we watch these people for 15 minutes after they get vaccinated. You could imagine. You put 100 people in a in a jewel Osco, and you haven't said there for 15 minutes. They don't have the capability where the layout to do that so still really working through the logistics, And that's probably one of our biggest frustrations and you're talking about the logistics. I'm also thinking about the prioritization. Now, plenty of our listeners have said, Go to your county website. Will county calm Lake County, Doug of whatever cook County. We did it last you some questions, and then I guess it gives you a code. You're one air one be something like that correct. And then I guess it's some point Say at the United Center will say, Okay, if you're one b, Come on in. I mean, is that the scheme But I haven't heard the governor talk it length about that. Yeah. And John. It's got to be more organized that we can't just go with the one be. People don't even understand the scope of one B. If we said OK and DuPage County, we're gonna open it up to one. Bees. The one bees are 150,000 people, So we really need to have better organization to say, Mr Jones. You are one b. You have an appointment at 10 o'clock at this facility. Go get your you know your first vaccine. The the Getting The people in the queue in the right way is going to be the biggest thing and we don't have the infrastructure or we haven't heard with. The infrastructure is yet from the city or from the state. I will keep listening here. I want to answer a couple of questions from our listeners. Into the wind trust business Lunch on WGN Radio we've been following what's been happening in the Congress has The votes are being opened. President Trump 12 electoral votes Joe Biden zero They got to Arizona. The president was also giving a rally speech. The Stop the Steel Rally speech a moment ago, Ryan Burrow, WGN radio news director just popped into the studio to sort of update us on where all of these things are s 03 things going on first, the president's speech, which has wrapped up although he's vowed to join these demonstrators at the Capitol very soon. Number two. The rally and demonstration is moving toward the U. S. Capitol for this event that's going on inside of the chambers joint session. It has broken off. Right now. Each of the two legislative bodies have moved into their respective chambers for this objection. To Arizona, Arizona's the first swing state that has come up there was an objection. Both sides break off to their chambers. They debate it could take a little bit of time. Then they come back and, in theory, certify and move on to the next state. Okay. Keep monitoring that. Thank you. Bryan Burrough in the WGN radio newsroom more news in about six or seven minutes. Terry Savage will be with us for another 25 minutes. Let's go back to Terry and Terri. Lots of calls. As always for you on the financial side. Can you take some with us? He'd be delighted to But first let me set that up by answering the question you where you went to break. People who live make a bunch of categories regarding the second stimulus. People who haven't received it yet. I talked to the Irish this morning and made a whole list number one. They're required to get the stimulus payments out by January 15th. So they have your direct deposit information. That's where it went. I'll come back to the bombs in check. The other thing is they've mailed checks out. And if you don't get it by the 15th, That's not their problem. They blame that on the post office, but they expect to have everything out by January. 15th now The people who didn't get who had a closed account, the one they used for the last stimulus of the less tax returns closed. The bank cannot deposit it in your new account. They have to send that back. To the I R s which will not send it back to you. I'll tell you what you're gonna do. You fall in this category, the other thing you mentioned someone who thought they should get 600 earned under $75,000 and got a smaller amount. Number three someone who didn't get a stimulus. Check it all by the time you follow your 2020 return and number four anybody who thinks that based on your 2020 incomes You should have still got in that original $1200 stimulus checks, but darn it. They looked at your 2018 return before you were fired from lost your job. But in 2020, you're really under the limits of 75,000 individual. 150,000 on the joint return, all of you file in the category or someone that just got missed completely. Never signed up for it. Never filed a tax return doesn't get Social Security and just missed out on the first one and this one. All of you will file 2020 return in the next few weeks, and you will look for a line 30. And if you think you've been shorted on your stimulus it bounce because your account was closed. You didn't get a stimulus it all this time or the first time around, you can file for a refundable tax credit. Put it in online 30 and then filed the 2020 returned. I mean, you know we were all going to do it by April 15th. You'll start doing it in February. Violent Elektronik Lee and include your direct deposit information for your bank, and you will get that money back even if you weren't required cause you have low income to file if you didn't get the stimulus I'll return Fill in line, 30. They will send you the money and you should do it. Direct deposit, So I think that will pre empt. A lot of questions out there. My whole show. What do you kid me then? I got nothing to talk. Okay, but we have a lot of news breaking so just in case I didn't get it up. That's the key point. It's coming now. If you don't get it, you can still get it. If you didn't get it the first time you could still get it. If you're 18 year old, you know on your 2020 return was independent, just graduated from college has a job. Don't declare that person as a dependent This year on 2020 let him or her file his own return claimed the original stimulus for 1200, the current 600. Okay, Let's pick up some more phone lines now. 3129817 200 will start with Judy. You're on WGN. Go ahead, Judy. Hi. How are you? Thanks for taking my call. Sure. Have a question about unemployment. Um, I apply for unemployment. Uh, ah, year ago December when I lost my job, and then I wasn't able to find a job because of the pandemic. Received the letter. Friday, saying that I was never eligible, and now they want the entire year's worth back. How much we talk, Got unemployment benefit tried in $25,000. Okay, calm down, Relax and wait. E couldn't understand how frightening that is. Let me back up. Were you Did you file under the self employment portion of Illinois unemployment benefits? No. No, you found in traditional unemployment while this is happening, particularly to a lot of people who filed P way that self employment program and to others as well. If there's one thing we all know it's that the state of Illinois is totally messed up in the unemployment department. Um, I want to mention that I'm just looking through my email because I just sent Email to Rebecca Cisco, who seems to be answering e mails but not mine lately that the state of Illinois has been clawing back P way benefits self applied benefits, really saying they miscalculated and the new stimulus law says, Hey, states just get together with us in federal government. You don't have to call those back anymore. I've asked three times whether they're going toe stop sending out letters demanding repayment benefits. Yours is a traditional unemployment. You will have to file for a hearing. And it was going to take a long time. In the meantime, they I know they are. Are you still receiving benefits? Probably not. No, I went that's work too much. No. Okay, so the only thing they can do is attack and any Illinois tax refund don't have to go to court. To do that. You'll have to have a hearing. First of all. With unemployment And as long as you have your documentation that you were laid off. You were unemployed. Couldn't find another job. You should probably win that hearing. It's going to take a while, but in the meantime, you're going. Oh, my God, can they? They aren't coming into garnish your your checking account your money market accounts that don't take the money out and put it under your pillow. It's just gonna be a mess for you for a long time. A lot of people are going through something like that. But I think that sounds good. Okay. Good luck to you, Judy. It's 12 30. We're going to update our listeners with WGN radio news. Come back with another segment with Terry Savage. One of the questions is Hey, I got more money in my checking account than I should have. What's a safe? Smart place for me to put some extra.
