"John. Welcome back we've been waiting awhile to get you. I'll come back to home gadget geeks. Thanks appreciate it is going to be back. I know it's been a little slow over there on the unrated side. What kinda give us a quick overview. We were actually last time we had you on. We were waiting for six point nine to kind of come out and it did and then i paint you and you're like i'll get back to you and we. We finally got pulled together but to give us a little summary of of how things been going since the last time we saw you. Things are going really well so obviously six nine Really good release for us. Multiple pulls support huge feature. Really glad that we were able to get that out to people. I think we're just kind of setting the stage with it with other things that are to come and we've been working really hard on version six ten which were hoping to have out to folks pretty soon. A six hundred ten is going to be all about security over convenience. That's the main theme of that release. Were making a lot of changes to the default behavior of the operating system. I mean it. You wouldn't have to look hard to find a number of a pretty big security issues related to storage appliances in the last few months. You know cough. Cough western digital cough cough kidnap You know list goes on and You know we. We started taking much harder. Look at how we were doing things in our operating system and We're not really in. We weren't subject to the same vulnerabilities that those two were in in those examples but There were some other things that maybe our default values which we used to be much more about like. Hey let's just make the super easy to get it so that you have a nas- with shares that you can write to over the network to. Hey let's really make the user think a little bit more critically about security so You know one of the best examples of this is something as simple as the right password so we started on raid Before i was even part of the company you know the modern router or switch at that point in time didn't have a default password. You had to you just got you logged into it. And then you'd set one if you wanted but you could leave it with no password. Now that behavior's changed all the router manufacturers candidate realize you know it's probably a good idea to just put something on the back of the box that the user has to see and so we decided you know that's probably something that we should be doing to so everybody in six hundred ten is going to be forced to cetera password to the system because it means a lot more than just the web So if somebody was able to get into the system Because they didn't have a root password set and was able to actually hit it at the console layer the sat or something. You can do a lot of damage so having a rep password. I think is going to be huge. But that's just one of a number of things that we're

I'm sure dr and egg. It's connected to my router. So all the computers in the house can connect to it. And my concern is I have not yet been so I'm just worried. I'm worried about ransomware. So if if, say one of the computers in the house gets affected by ransom, where My assumption is that for a time that computer doesn't know it, and so it's just happily going away. Encrypting filed Would any other computer that's connected to that share drive? Start seeing files and can't open because they're encrypted. How was that? Yeah, it can go out. There are different variants. But the hackers and the ransomware purveyors they've gotten pretty sophisticated. So it may not only in fact, your computer it may or may not go on to the network, but I wouldn't assume that it would not. I would just say yes, it will. So you said, What do you say you had a my cloud. Western digital, My cloud. Okay, So so. So, with the my cloud, of course, everything goes up in the cloud. Everything sits on the hard drive as well. Is that just make sure that whatever settings that you have that are up in the cloud. That those are the ones that will allow you to retrieve everything, because sometimes people will only put like certain files on my cloud. Because that NBC, so you don't want to pay for that extra storage, general wasting money? Get all that, But just assume, just assume that you turned on your computer and you turned on the network. And, um and these files were just locked down and somebody is going to give you instructions to send them $300 worth the Bitcoin. And you know what's so crazy about this Christmas? Is that Where, if and when you get that message, it says if you don't know how to pay us in Bitcoin call us 1 800 number, Okay, and they actually have. "It's Monday. It's January. 25th 2021. And We need to talk markets in a very big way. Now, As you know, we've been doing a lot on the elections a lot on Thea outcome of the elections. What's gonna affect this? What's gonna affect that? Who's going to do this? Who's going to do that? We will continue along those lines. But right now it is very, very important. We do a little bit more. On Ah, lot more on the markets for several important reasons, So let me just out at the outside, first off tomorrow. Three AM American Express, Johnson and Johnson, Verizon and Microsoft in the Dow. And Microsoft obviously will be interesting. Also tomorrow. Advanced Micro Devices Capital one financials, Maxim Integrated Products. Starbucks, Texas Instruments You Bs. Hacked car. Alaska Air Wednesday, bowing in the down Apple in the Dow. And today, the Dow undercut its Stronger 21 day, moving average and finish back above it. The S and P 500. Stronger than the down. The NASDAQ today. No issues, not even the other 21 Day. And everything I'm going to convey to you has nothing to do with being barrish on the major indices of the market. Until they crack. The market. The M overall is in good stead. And today had an opportunity. To head lower. Out of very frothy speculative. Um Extended conditions. But I just have some words to the wise. And some of it's repetitious. Repetitive. Whatever word. And we just hope you're listening. We don't tell you here. What to do. We tell you what we think. And we use the terminology all the time. We will tell you what we think you decide. What you should do. What you want to do. We have a certain foot process with markets it that is when wrong. Be wrong. Small. Be wrong fast when right try to let him run his far as they can. Educate yourself from the market and its past and what it looks like and how reacts at different points in time. Remember the precedents of the past because that the emotions of fear and greed I don't care what year it is a pretty much the same, Just summer quicker, faster, some more extreme. And recently we've been telling you, we thought we were in a very extreme point. And for months we have been telling you That we felt like we may get some sort of a melt up in the market. And the melt up was because of what central banks were doing. We think they're freaking insane. We think they're destroying the future. They we think they're leading us into a garden. Gan shiu in Bear market. That's coming sooner rather than later now. We think they have no clue what they're doing. We think that the media who lionize these people is geniuses don't know what the hell they're doing, either. We think every one of their answers to every problem is more debt more deficits. More printing of money to cover the arses of the debt and deficits. We think there's been massive distortion of price and yielding. That's not too hard to figure out. Interest rates were zero. You have negative the eighth rates in Europe and Japan. Printing of money. All you got to do is look it charts of printing the money throughout the ages and see what stocks do. They were on to something. But then the other part of the equation. Is what happens when we get Massive over the top froth and speculation. And where we usually in the cycle. When we get that And what do we mean by massive over the top froth in speculation. Well. We have a new one that just showed up. Do you know today? Game Stop! Finish that $77 up another $12. Remember, this thing was 17 bucks a few days ago. Massive short squeeze going on. It had $159 today. Closed at 77. It hit $159 today closed at 77. Gargantuan hedge fund crook company. A gargantuan hedge fund company. Was saved. Other hedge funds that invested in that company. Because he was massively short game stop. And lost billions of dollars. In that short Stock went up based on nothing. Except the short squeeze. And what's happening is you have certain players. They're on these track rooms or chat boards or read it this and that, and they're isolating these things. And people are jumping all over each other in any price, which means today, somebody covered a short at 1 59 or bought the stock at 1 59. Closed at 77. Stocks worth probably 10 15 bucks. By itself. No big deal. I robot today. Another heavily short stock hit 1 55 close that 1 15. Heavily short stock. Bed bath and beyond. What.

I get network connection areas, which might not be the nastiest fault, but Anyway, it has a USB port on the back. So what I do is I I backed everything up to my nasty And then I back up the Nash to a USB drive before 10 terabyte Western Digital. Okay? Yes, these guys Okay, I can have outside storage. The other problem with the Western Digital is the software that it came with. I found out right after I bought it has a 50 megabyte file limit. So is it my cloud, which is that they're my cloud ness or I think so. Yeah, so, But so anyway, I don't use that software anymore. It would look like a decline in capital spending on d. around which is in theory good for a western digital as as a micron. Mico what do you like in this space if anything. Yeah so have you see. I'm going to look at it a little bit from an operations perspective. I mean the options markets definitely were very bullish on western digital. I mean obviously we could see that in the increase in the share price. I think it was up more than ten percent today but a lot of these names also were saying some bullish activity going further out expecting basically today's rally persist into the future western digital. I think traded you know some multiple close to three or four times. The average daily call volume went and it's normally trades pretty good volume to begin with so we're looking at seventy to eighty thousand calls straight on western digital bullish flow going out about ninety days or so. You know the other thing i would say is that we have some product cycle. Basically going on here. And i think this is going to be beneficial across the space. I mean You know we're not really looking at this particular area necessarily today the gpu makers and so on we were talking about it yesterday. Things like nvidia and so on I'm also very curious. You know. I'm wondering whether other kind of chip companies like intel might actually get their mojo back. They're probably going to need to do some pretty serious rethinking of their business. And i think dan loeb is looking into that and trying to pressure them to do exactly that maybe getting a focus back on engineering and making the kinds of products that their customers actually want to buy. But i do think that there is potential continued strength in the space going into the new year.

"Kick in with that under fifty dollar category which is always fun and a product that solves a big issue. Which is what to do on our iphones when we run out of room because as you know the iphones do not have expandable storage. So if you bought one with sixty four gig or one twenty eight gig of storage and use it. You're out of luck so what to do. Well i like this product from sandisk. It's called the i expand. It's a little flash drive that connects to your phone. It goes directly into the lightning port and thus copies all the photos directly onto it on the other side of the unit is a usb plug it into your computer and import the photos there thus backing them up getting them off your phone. There's an app that goes with the i expand That you do the copying through and you can set it up for automatic. Backup on your phone if you like Thirty two gigabyte version sells for about twenty three dollars. The sixty four gigabyte sells for about thirty three dollars and the one twenty eight. Which is what. I would recommend sells for around forty six. Now of course beyond backing up photos you can use it as a traditional flash drive and again the trouble with iphone. Proprietary technology is there to date has not been a flash drive for the iphone. There are a few out there right now. I haven't tried them all. I have tried the eye expand. It comes from san disk which is owned by western digital. So it's a good reliable brand

Chase, right and it had it was just aluminum and would transfer the heat via some heat pads to keep the drive cool for server environments, things like that. Bob, can talk a little probably a little more on like current drives in vme drives things like that. That come with. Yes. I can. Right, so with with the newer drives like With like. Two and a half inch, SSD right ear and older one. A. Lot of times with these drives they're not gonNA get hot enough. To overwork like the metal body on this if you opened up, there's typically a thermal pad that makes contact from the chips themselves to the case and just dissipates heat and uses that whatever airflows available inside the case to keep a cool Regarding Envy Emmy drives typically on those the. Memory chips actually to be a little warm, but we want controller to stay cooler. So you'll either have a little foil sticker. There's usually a sticker on your Indian. Drives two drives. Nice except for the power is turned off and it's directly connected. So it's not a network. Yup. So I want it always not really is not really a nasty. It's a, it's a big I that's how I use, my robo too, by the way, it's a big hard drive with redundant disks. So if one of the discs, dis you can just without turning it off. "On your network. They don't bombard you within lurks. In fact, the best thing about my Canaries I never hear from it, but when I but I know it works because somebody brought in a I won't say what company, Western Digital hard drive that was Nass, then put it on our network, begging did won't say, who. But Meghan did it. And then the next day, I'm getting all these alerts that somebody's surveying our network what the canary we've the IP address was it's inside the network. It's ten dot what we we, we found it. And we needless to say Senate right back to Western Digital said, no. Thank you. But that's the kind of thing. So I know it's working, but you don't want to hear from it. You just get one Cude alert when there's somebody on your network. Canaries also can set up canary tokens as your files they look like PDF's or spreadsheets or whatever you want. They look like documents. But the minute somebody opens them. And by the way, name, it something like I've got I won't say what I've well, okay, I'll tell you, I've got files called payroll information employee social security numbers. That's probably a bad name. You should just say employee information, right all over the network. Somebody opens those up I get I hear from it. I know some there's an intruder it trooper alerts. These are so brilliant. The company that makes these Canaries thinks has been doing this for twenty years, there have been in the security game forever. They've trained companies military's they've trained governments on how to break in networks, they're white hat hackers. And they used every bit of experience and knowledge to build this amazing thing that canary they're very affordable. And you don't you don't buy them outright, you just lease him. So when something if canary breaks, no problem that just ship, you new one it's all built into the price some and you don't have to have a lot of them we only have one some small shops to some banks have hundreds, it depends on what your needs are there..
By blacklisting Huawei, the US could be shooting itself in the foot
"There's an interesting observation to be made here about the global economy, things that usually happened really, really slowly. Until they happen. Really, really fast. Oh, explain from American public media. This is marketplace. In Los Angeles. I'm KAI Ryssdal. It is Thursday. Today, the sixteenth of mega is always to have you along, everybody. We begin today with this ten days ago, Amir week and a half. Every indication was that the trade mad disagreements between the United States and China were all but solved couple more meetings, a quick Trump's, she phone call done and done. Now. It's tariffs as far as the I can see. And as of yesterday quite possibly a breakdown in the heavily, integrated and extremely globalized technology supply chain, we refer here, of course, to the Trump administration, effectively blacklisting, the Chinese technology, giant hallway, which will cut that company off from its American suppliers, chips, from Qualcomm and phone software from Google to name. Just a couple. You're all that in with bands on while way in other countries. And as marketplace's Scott Tong reports now from Washington, there does seem to be something of a digital iron curtain descending if the US shoe. Hallway, it also hits its own foot inside while we gadgets are innards from firms, like Intel, oracle and Western Digital but tech firms sensing the crossfire are trying to get out of the way and avoid partnering with companies subject to bands in retaliation says Linley Gwen app of the Linley group. I think that companies are trying to reduce their exposure to the band, and by fewer components from countries that could be affected the word decoupling is being whispered in the US and China that is each country may develop its own separate supply, chain, while we has long been on Washington's hitlist and is trying to make parts semiconductors in house. Business professor at ten Wong judge young university has a new book on wall way. He says the company can be self sufficient that can make it south. Maybe he's not as good as the US components, but it's not much worse. They still can't sell products so that prepare for these more than ten years, while ways, DIY project. Could accelerate Chinese innovation? And in areas like wireless, five G many see hallway as already ahead. So the US might not want to cut itself off says, political scientists Abraham Newman at Georgetown, France in the nineteen eighties tried to develop its own internet, and it was kind of ridiculous, and the risk is that we end up with a new version of that a lesser. They un-filed g network. He says the US is weaponising interdependence and could unravel a global tech supply chain that took a generation to come together. I'm Scott Tong for marketplace. You can argue till the cows come home about tariffs who wins who loses who pays wait. No, you can't consumers pay and nobody wins. But there is at least one agreed upon reality. When it comes to what tariffs due to an economy, the way things normally work don't work anymore. Marketplace's refinish your explains that one I don't know if you've ever grown plants in a terrarium they love it in there because they're protect. But when you take them, out and expose them to the outside world, they don't always do out there, not strong. It breeds a kind of laziness here Simon Lester is with the Cato Institute and he's not talking about terrariums. He's talking about tariffs tariffs that protect some US businesses from foreign competition. You don't have to compete with the best in the world, just sort of relax. You don't have to work that hard, you're not gonna face any competition. US steel companies, for example, don't face as much pressure to upgrade plants now they can in our raising prices without competition from foreign steel producers. Ultimately, I think if you want to sessile businesses, you want them competing in order to, you know me as a fishing has possible Chinese goods. Don't usually compete with US goods head on. We don't make a lot of the same stuff, but many goods that are made in America are made with Chinese parts tariffs. Make those parts more expensive Tim Keough teaches economics at the university of Minnesota gonna make things to the US shell the rest of the world. Be more expensive than we're gonna lose market share because of that. But the. Disadvantages go beyond that, take the tariffs on steel aluminum. The metal that would be going into the US now goes to global markets increasing supply and depressing prices outside the US Rufus York's is president of the national Foreign Trade Council. Many of my manufacturers say that this has a direct impact on their competitiveness. Not only because their costs go up, but actually their foreign competitors costs. Go down your says the morn industries protected the less productive, it's likely to become in New York. I'm Sabrina sure for marketplace. It's yet another attempt by the college board to keep its core product, the SAT, relevant as the idea. Of who gets in wear gets more attention. Marketplace's Amy Scott has more on that when Scott vers, I'll was weighing student applications. This college admission season he had another tool to consider. He's dean of undergraduate admissions at the university of South Carolina, along with grades and essays and test scores and environmental context. Dashboard. Offer details like family and housing stability access to AP classes and neighborhood poverty, and crime. And that did help us find some students that we would probably would otherwise not considered the university was one of fifty testing out the dashboard. This year, the college board will roll it out to all schools next year, and it'll be free, but SAT critic Robert Shafer with fair test says it's a business move with selective colleges under pressure to admit more students of color and low income students. More of them are making standardized tests. Optional people have long known that head scores were a excellent. Mega of accumulated advantage. And now, the college board is going to admit it by thing. You can't use raw scores. You have to examine them in context. The college board has tried something like this, in the past in the late nineteen nineties, it's so-called strivers program aimed to take socioeconomic factors including race into account. But Shaffer says critics accused the college board of back door affirmative action, and the program was dropped Tiffany Jones directs higher, Ed policy at the education trust advocacy group. She says the dashboard doesn't include race without looking at race explicitly. It's very difficult to try to account for racial inequality. Students also won't know their scores adding another layer of mystery to the college admissions process. I'm Amy Scott for marketplace. There was a fairly brief, but all important announcement from Boeing today, a quick four paragraphs, the first sentence of which read Boeing has completed development of the updated software for the seven. Western Digital could have 40TB hard drives in 6 years
G-Technology is evolving for the future
"If there's one thing I love talking about except maybe perhaps for video editing its storage because storage is at the heart of what we do. And when I was talking with Eric I was taking notes on all a forty terabyte hard drive coming by twenty twenty-five. I've got it down on my notes. This is exciting stuff. But I need storage today. And that's where g technology comes in Christina Garza is It's gotta SATA SSD inside of TV remote. She's holding it in her hand and changing channels two of the computers over here on the left. Right. But the special thing about this. It's very rugged. It's actually waterproof. If you accidents or out in the field shooting in the rain drops out of your bag or out of your hand in into a puddle. It's going to be protected so. It's got IP sixty seven raiding similar to a cell phone, Scott thunderbolt three or USB connection on the back of this version is USB. By the way, pricing for the rugged is spinning media's about what varies by storage, of course. hundred megabytes out about twenty one hundred twenty eight hundred okay and pricing this one we just announced a brand new two terabyte in this and it's a seven seven ninety nine seven hundred ninety nine for two terabytes twenty eight hundred twenty seven hundred megabytes second, right? Must have racing stripes on it. So you also said none of that you have a new product. But you had a new announcement. If I remember correctly. What was if I covered all the new news from G tech. In addition to the armory TD portable drive, we have new capacities out. So that fourteen terabyte drive that Western Digital now provides we are going to be fulfilling our products as well. So we're hitting capacities now on our g speed shuttle. Excel for example, it's our eight bay raid system. It's now at one hundred twelve terabytes, and so we're able to just. For storage. And of course, as soon as I added it to my system I'd fill it up team terabyte system. Nasa's me. Yeah. So we're able to accomplish. Giving the storage need for a lot of the big film productions now that are producing insane storage with eight cave type filming. Now, we're giving them that capacity that they needed one system versus having to have twelve different systems stacked up. That's pretty cool. When you think about it? What are you looking at for the future? What are you keeping your eyes on? That's not a product announcement. I'm just

"For forty years and shows nowhere at all. No, not a Nick. It's so perfectly balanced so perfectly made the engineering so remarkable all in the days before computer design. Paper and pen. And they were able to make this perfectly balanced gear that that was operating at thousands of revolutions a minute for forty years, and you can't get a harder. For year and a half. Yeah. Because my original hydride like eight years. Yeah. Bang bang bang. Second part of the question. I think it's part of it is honestly the higher densities. Now, I'm shopping for a new hard drive and they've got nationalize. They've got surveillance hard drives. They've got you know, some one of the reasons I like going with a NASA for this is because it said of one drive you have maybe four single terabyte or four terabyte drives smaller drives small capacity. Those are going to be more a little more reliable. And they're set up in such a way using raid that if one of the drive dies, you can even sit up two of the drives died, you don't lose any data. You just replace those this is more expensive solution. But it is more reliable. Well, my real for one drive, and you know, these are externals Nazar external. Yeah, they run. In fact, they generally run off the network not off a USB connector or or Thunderball connector. So replace my internal hard drive, and I'm trying to figure out which one to get do. I get. Every hard-drive company resign asked you Western Digital went through bad period. Seagate went through a bad period. Every hard-drive company has gone through periods where the drives are less reliable. But they almost always get back on track and they fix them. I do think that these you know, what you're getting four terabyte drives they're sold in huge capacities. You know, I mean, they're selling them big bucks stores. They're selling thousands of day there cranking them out. I just have to think that just less reliable. If you get if you go out and get a Western Digital black. Dr get one of the higher quality, drives you I think you'll have better results. In other words, don't try to say money because obviously this was this was a false economy. So maybe the Western Digital caviar black drives actually I'm looking at a Western Digital purple. It's kind of in my price range, and I'm hearing it to another to Sheba, which is basically the same price. Yeah. I you know, if some of the drives are designed for longer use the server drives designed for longer use. I can't remember what purples for that's a new color. But that might be a good idea. The Western Digital blacks are are have have a five year guarantee. I'm just gonna I don't know what the WD purples are one of those four. Surveillance hard drives. Yeah. Those are they're designed for continuous use. Because surveillance cameras are writing all the time. That's interesting. That's confused. You know? Well, I would you know, what you really look at is the warranty. If they're gonna see there's three year warranty on the purples, there's a five year warranty on the blacks doesn't help you much. If it's still is right. It's still still the pain in the butt. Yeah. I'm not from these purples are newer. And I'm not I'm not that not that new. Here's an article about them for twenty fourteen. I'm just new to me. So these are survey. Oh, I see. Okay. One of the things. They're slower drives are fifty four hundred rpm. So no, you don't care. Somebody in the chat room, saying he's had four tear. I haven't had a hard drive fail falen years, by the way, really haven't had failed years. So I think you're getting some bad luck. If you go for the enterprise grade, drives okay? There's an answer. Yeah. You're going to get a better result. The Western Digital blacks are guaranteed for five years. They.

I bought I bought shares at western Western Digital at about thirty six dollars. Coming up. And then today, it's morning shot up seventeen percent, and I filled it. Down. With up about I guess it ended up about six percent today or something like that. But you know, it just I've never had that happen. And I don't know if I did the right thing I wanted to grab the prophet. But I still. You should've you should wrote down. John. Why did you buy what was your target price? Did you have a price that you thought it would go to and therefore you would hold onto it to to that. Or did you have a reason why you thought the earnings we're going to be good or sales. And you know that for everybody else. That's a good thing to practice to get into go ahead. John. I bought it for the dividend. But I went up so drastically today that I thought it was an anomaly. But maybe not now seventy percent in one day. Yeah. That's very unusual. We own west Western Digital and one of our managed accounts. And if you want me to answer the question, I do think he made a mistake by selling it. Because if you're you're quoted reason for buying it was the dividend. There was not going to be any change for the dividend. Right. I mean, it's not an the stock is was very low priced. It's still very low price. It's probably at the bottom of the cycle of these kinds of stock. So I think you know, I think you probably should hold on that doesn't mean that won't go back down test thirty five they could. And that doesn't mean it doesn't mean that you're wrong. But now, you're second guessing yourself right now. So I I would just take it and run go get another one don't worry about getting back into okay? Okay. Thanks for the call. Don. Appreciate it. Eight eight eight ninety nine chart I may talking points a day YouTube is bathing against big cable with a nationwide expansion of running out that YouTube TV to ninety percent of the United States. We're gonna look at that story. I think it's pretty interesting story, you know, Google, right? Is replacing thirty six million US workers, it's gonna be. So there's going to be thirty six million jobs are going to be replaced by artificial intelligence. So we worry. You S leading economic indicators down one tenth of percent ally down one tenth of percent, December should we worry about that? Did you see also wanna talk about ECB? And about economic reports that have been delayed and the ones that are coming out because of the government shutdown. So those are the things on tap. But of course, you know. This show is driven by you. And what you wanna do what happened to the market. It was up. The Dow is up one hundred eighty four the NASDAQ up ninety one and the s&p up twenty two points. And so you had a pretty positive week. There was a pause there in two or three days, but still was on the positive and most of it was driven by pretty upbeat. Earnings reports for the fourth quarter. So it wasn't a bad thing. Okay. Let's go to Bill in Fremont. He must talk about p e ratios what about PE ratio is Bill. I heard you. Ratios. I kind of know how the figures are done. But when you do a PE ratio you coming up with the future price of that stock. How do you? Okay. It's not hard. First of all, I have lots of software that helps me Bill. So I kind of cheat in that way. But you always look at this Haida, you always look at next year's earnings. Okay. The estimates. I know it's an estimate. So therefore, you know, you just you know, the experts are very wrong often. But the only thing you have. So you look at next year's earnings per share estimates earnings per share estimates. And that's how they usually give them in the in the form of earnings per share. So I look at next year for sure my software, and I know what the average rages for this industry or this stock and I compile in my head. What I think the value of that stock is based on next year's earnings. Now, I also factor in growth rates that the size of the company big cap companies have lower p Eason. Smaller cap companies tech companies have higher PE ratio. So all those things, unfortunately, Bill or in my head over the bottom Brazilian years is doing this. So when I say, okay, that's talks about this much. It's it's it's it's in my head. I don't have. When we do it to really analyzing the company, I can't do it. This quick we have to look at some things. I don't look at here is the profit margin or margin squeezing are the growing. I don't I'm not able to look at what the competitors are doing are the competitors aggressive or not. So there's other factors. I can't factor in in my head. But I can give you a pretty good idea. They posted. A revenue miss pretty significant shares down at least right now and the free market open about six percent. So there's been a string of upbeat earnings. Well, they broke that Intel is that going to impact. What is what is going on with the chip makers in general? I don't think so chip makers have been holding their own. We'll see what happens. Western Digital on the opposite side. I bring that up because a lot of you own Western Digital. So Western Digital up right now. About six point seven percent. I'm sorry. I take that back. That's what they closed that. Yesterday there up eight point four percent in pre-market open. Another good day. And I know a lot of you own that stock it's been on and off my bias for two years more on and off. It's been it's been a good company. So that's a couple of things that we have Asia stocks are up both in Hong Kong China Asia. Stocks are looked to be fairly strong. Not too concerned about trade worries right now. European stocks in early trading were up. I'm not sure where they are right now yesterday, I had a conference call and I misspoke. There was a particular stock h c forty seven h c forty seven that I spoke about a healthcare stock, and I indicated that it was on the nine for ninety. It was not a nine for ninety stock. I was talking about it in relationship to the fact that it's a very for the first time in a very very long time probably twenty five years that I put a stock. Just recently started to be public traded. I think it was December eighteenth when they went public and put that on my list, and I was talking about some things. That I couldn't talk about in in relationship to that. And I think when I did it I I don't recall, but I must have because I've got a few emails. I must have said it was one of my nine for nineteen. It was not by the way. So I just wanted to clarify that if that if that helps. Again, earnings reports continue to be strong for the s&p five hundred. You don't know that you're not seeing those things because nobody's reporting those earning reporting the ones that are down a Republican Bill to shut shut stop the shutdown yesterday failed in the Senate fifty to forty seven to two Republicans. I've been listening. I think you can look around. I mean, look at look at L ourse lamb research was up, you know, ten twelve percent. It's still down thirty percent from his fifty two highs Xilin made a new all time high. I is on the short list of companies that will be bought too. So I think it's really different pockets. Here. Sounds like Dan watched power-pitch few weeks ago. It's interesting. So quickly people Western Digital Karen mentioned, and you're right. It was up six and a half percent or so today it's given back maybe third of that. But you tell about you wanna see what happens when a company gets or business commoditised take a look at Western Digital chart over the last basically fifteen or sixteen months, that's what's going on now, people point devaluation, and they pointed to that for the last twenty five or thirty dollars valuation. Doesn't matter would basically your average selling prices continue to go down. That's what's happening in DC in terms of Intel not only did they lower revenue they lowered EPS guidance by thirteen percent. So I think this move the downside is probably justified in contrast Intel's fall out after our chip stocks taking their best day since two thousand nine today the regular session. Our next guest says there's one sock to play for an even bigger breakout. With get off the charts with airy wall had a analysis at Oppenheimer he's over at the plasma hairy. Then you have a little bit of a silver lining for the bulk as but I think it's too early to really jump ahead of it as it stands in the charts. And here's why let's start with a bigger picture view of Intel going back about a year. Now, what's interesting to us is where the selling took place right at fifty one dollars. This has been the key resistance level since August now so as we sell off here and looks like there's going to be some additional backing Philly needed. What are your thoughts on turning our economy towards green tech? What would you like to talk about you make the call? But only if you make the call number eight four four seven two four eight two five five eight four four seven to four to five or you can tweet us anti Saifi. But I consider the hard disk drive. You know, it's been around since the fifties. But the hard disk drives running up against a storage problem themselves. Scientists are looking into how we can put more data onto the magnetic material inside these discs. Aiming dramatic news editor at I TRE believe spectrum. She reported this story here to fill in on that and other short subjects and science back, Amy era. So what's the problem with our hardest? Well hard does store in. Formation in tiny, magnetic, grains, are trillions of these grains on a desk, and they've gotten to be very small over the years, but in order to make them even smaller engineers have run into problem in that these these greens are typically flipped with magnetic force that comes from the drive itself magnetic field, but now because they're so small they're able to actually just flip due to NBA energy in the air, which is not what you want. If you're making it hard drive because that can live out data. Yeah. It's a problem. So they've had to switch to new materials, which are which make it harder to flip the individual grains. Then the drive manufacturers themselves in this case, I reported on Seagate and Western Digital had to come up with new technologies that make it easier to flip these hardened greens that are very very small smaller than ever before. So these companies have actually developed two different techniques, and they're rushing to commercialize each of them in the next year and a half. And they both say that their technique will work better than the others one called hammer, he assisted magnetic recording Seagate's approach, and it involves infusing energy from a tiny laser into these grains to make them easier to flip and then the other one is called microwave assisted magnetic recording. Or mamber that's Bester in Digital's approach. And it's kind of the same strategy. It uses a microwave as an energy source in order to kind of stir up a little wobble. In these grains and make them easier to flip as well. In my laptop though, the trend is to solid state drives, right? What what why not here? Yes. These these drives your rate of have been around for a while. And a lot of laptops, and consumer technologies solid state drives based on flash memory taking over these do have a couple of advantages there, certainly faster, and they don't have any moving parts. So you'll have a disc in they're spinning around that can get out of wack, but the truth is for large data centers companies like Google apple net. Flicks. Need to store lots of.

I start the day with one hundred and fifty to be plus or better ranked stocks in my database hundred thirty five eight or better momentum stocks and Mike cash level has dropped considerably ear from where I was at about one month ago. I continue to put money to work on some of the Barton's that were out there. In the market after the market moved into bear market territory. This may go down as the shortest bear market ever. Well, we had a pretty weekday yesterday. Very directionless. I did make one very large by yesterday. That's looking like a pretty good bye here today. And I continue to look and scour and search and hunt and got a lot of them on my list right now. We had very weak China trade data yesterday still concerned. No progress haven't heard of any progress whatsoever and the talks between the US and China, but we're also hearing that most analysts not senior recession on the horizon. However, Jamie diamond today warned that a continued shutdown of the US government could put us into recession more on that in a bit. The tech stocks did not have a very good day yesterday. Western Digital WDC had its worst day since October. Now, they're talking there are some analysts saying that Western Digital may cut their dividend. I do not own Western Digital. It is a fairly influential tech stock boy has been in a slide. Western Digital was eighty nine dollars per share may. Today. It's thirty seven dollars per share. That is a big big downdraft in the memory storage device. Company that stock is now down fifty percent since its high Seagate also had a very poor day yesterday Seagate has gone from fifty nine dollars. Now, I own Seagate at one time last year it had a big fat dividend yield. But it broke my line in the sand. And I protected my clients from a big downdraft Seagate went from fifty nine. It's currently at thirty nine I sold it quite some time ago. However Seagate has also gone through a correction near thirty four percent. Another one that was down. Yesterday was Micron Micron was sixty five dollars per share. Last may now Micron is at thirty four dollars and fifty cents. I've never really been a fan of Micron stock as it's pretty much a commodity. Now flash memory Micron is now down forty seven percent. But that was yesterday. Okay today. We've got green on the screen. We've got a nice rally going on particularly in the NASDAQ is being led by net. Flicks will get to net flix here in a minute net. Flicks is breaking out today net. Flicks is up six point two percent. Twenty dollars per share today. Crude oil is up today. There seems to be a continued correlation. Groot oil was down two percent yesterday on the week China data and crude oil is backed up today in the market is following up though, right now, the Dow is only up forty seven points, NASDAQ still hanging onto some very strong gains. However, well, what are they gonna do in California? You know, one of the biggest utilities up there. I've got a prediction p genie is now six dollars per share. Remember when utilities were for widows. Ios and orphans is down. Twenty eight percent today. Their bonds are plunging PC G is the symbol. Their their bonds. Remember when utility bonds were about as blue chip as they could get well the spreads are widening on their chapter eleven plan. I'm going to predict you know, California, Gavin Newsom, the new governor. And of course, Jerry Brown, the old governor, they would just love to have every Californian you cannot live on the state unless you're off the grid. They would love to have all solar one hundred percent solar. They would love to have one hundred percent solar and wind, and they would love to have everybody driving a non-combusted engine and electric car that is their goal by twenty thirty something like that. And I can see this whole bankruptcy of PG Aena. A major electric and natural gas utility being the crisis that they'd been looking for that they can take advantage not that they wanted this crisis. But they can take advantage of this crisis. The start mandating a faster move towards all solar all wind and all electric cars. You Mark my words watch PG any continues to plunge. Well, now, we've got Chinese stimulus in the market today, and that's helping helping the market yesterday was the Chinese slow-down stocks gained ground as China announced. It would start implementing a package of stimulus measures to boost their economy. They kept saying there weren't gonna do anything to stimulate the economy. But every day every other day, we seem to get some kind of announcement out of China about stimulus on the way one of their programs to include a cut to the VAT, that's a value added tax rates for selected industry and tax rebates for others. Well, China willing to implement a little bit of fiscal stimulus into the system something that Europe refuses to do senior policy. Officials also pledged that tax reductions tax reductions did you hear that? Let's move to Beijing on a larger scale are in the pipeline which J P Morgan Chase. Economists will impact around two trillion won- or one point two percent of GDP. And that of course, helping the market here today. It's also helping the global markets that announcement overnight Japan. Was up. One percent Hong Kong up two percent. China up one point four percent, India up one point three percent. So that's giving a boost today to not only the Chinese the the emerging markets, but also our market here in the US. Janet Yellen is out with her prediction on the bed. What does she say? Thanks to the FCC phone numbers are portable. So do you want is that what you wanna do is make sure that Google voice? Well, there's two things you can do one Google voice number can be your old phone number that way, not confusing. Anybody? Okay. So that you've done that that's called porting. Your number from from one service to another you put it from the cable company to Google voice. So you've already done that. So then Google voice will allow you to four to ring up to five phones when that number's called. And you just go on the Google voice setup. And you say at a phone in.
