Clashes continue for 5th night as anger boils over in dozens of cities across the US

"In dozens of cities yesterday large mostly peaceful demonstrations devolved into chaos in Nashville Miami Seattle and Salt Lake City Pittsburgh Phoenix New York and frankly too many other places to name protesters expressed their rage at the death of George Floyd police brutality and racism there were violent confrontations with police and police crackdown also violently they're also mass arrests and injuries among demonstrators journalists and police at least a dozen major cities declared curfews others called on the National Guard which has been historically used in response to major civil unrest there were scenes of National Guard marching through some residential neighborhoods ordering people to stay inside we go now to Los Angeles where members of the National Guard were also deployed overnight and a curfew was put in place as a state of emergency was declared NPR's Nathan rott is in a Laney joins us now Nate walk us through what happened yesterday so there is a massive peaceful protesters started around noon yesterday was in the Fairfax district in west LA which is kind of a trendy neighborhood with high end retail in a big outdoor mall and people were protesting against police violence as they are all over the country they were memorializing George Floyd the black man who died after being pinned to the ground by Minneapolis police officers and you know by all accounts it was peaceful respectful until a little later in the afternoon when we started seeing reports of police cars being set on fire and just a total breakdown of the situation this often happens a protest right when things shift as things go into the night do we know what happened yeah that's the obviously that was a little surprising loop usually these like shift to happen and I distorted broad daylight mid afternoon which is I think very concerning to a lot of city officials so you know on social media people are blaming the police for escalating tensions for responding with tear gas in this sort of militarized riot gear that has become so comically become a place around the country city officials have so far blame bad eggs in the crowd for setting things off and that's something we've been hearing in a lot of places that it's a small group of people who are agitating the situations of course that's now been politicized even with the U. S. Attorney General blaming anarchists and leftists without you know providing any proof of that but it's really hard to say what makes the situation situation shift tensions are obviously very high so it doesn't take much to spark something now doesn't we saw videos of looting and fires in many cities around the country last night it was also the case another right yeah number of retail stores in that Fairfax area were broken into goods were stolen some were set on fire I know firefighters are dealing with those fires throughout the night that prompted Ellie's mayor Eric Garcetti to announce a city wide curfew which cut a lot of people off guard because he announced an hour before it went into effect but here he is explaining why they did it and alluding to a violent protests in nineteen ninety two for following Rodney king we've seen this before in Los Angeles when the violence escalate no one wins and so everybody has to be responsible for owning this moment what do you wear a badge or whether you hold a sign I'm asking all of Los Angeles to take a deep breath and a step back for a moment it doesn't seem like the curfew worked briefly yeah the crowd started to sent that out even before the curfew started I know in other parts of the state Sacramento San Diego other large can confrontations between crowds and police I think you know what it's going to be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of days that's NPR's Nate rott in LA thank you so much yeah I think you look so we've been hearing how the nation is pulsing with anger with demands for racial justice some of that anger has translated into literal fire and for some small business owners that means there is stab each man is a casualty of the unrest and partially the Fadhel followed one of Minneapolis family and sent the story on the south side of Minneapolis the feeling and her family walk up to the door of what was my Mississippi is kitchen volunteer neighborhood walks out sorry the first time we've seen the restaurant after days of inside the walls are charred black the kitchen reduced to rubble glass and water swimming in puddles as community members were to sweep away the destruction of the looks around stunned her daughter's side as with their very very I completely I don't know how they're going to recover this her mother a Somali immigrant opened the restaurant two years ago but her tire savings in the midst of the health pandemic she closed the restaurant and she had to choose between paying for insurance and paying staff system via chose her staff that means there are no funds to rebuild this weekend her mother had planned to re opened her restaurant as the city started easing stay at home orders she spent over four thousand dollars on preparation how would it not only me many obvious she says it's not only her it's the whole street the city around her community members are sweeping boarding up buildings and helping each other almost every business on this block is damaged she speaks to Molly as her daughter interprets everything that has happened and every even though I know that I'm not gonna be able to compact discs from this economically but what has happened to George's life is not so cannot be exchanged for lotus I hope that he gets adjusted the freezer at the oven the tables they can be replaced but George for its life she says that cannot be replaced please the African American man who died after a white police officer India's next to the ground with his that's now fired officer Derek shopping has been arrested and charged with death has prompted mass protests that have erupted across the country in a call for racial justice in the rebel side defines the sign she made for her mother when the restaurant first opened none of the fiscal she loves because she always cooks sided digs out a few morning next most artifacts here I got it from this comes from somebody she puts them into a tiny pile of what is salvageable outside is the power of all that is lost her sister beyond the locks in to help she looks around but the truth is things like this happen when people feel powerless and something has to change he said she hopes the protests translate into motivated voters because back to her is real power she and her sisters started the big difference together inside the kitchen in the back so we can assess the damage it's a tunnel black walls burned debris I'm sorry she is upset because the way I just I just want to see the dentist in the kitchen alone for a moment staring into that black tunnel and then joins her family outside where people are coming together to clear the rubble with everything unfolding the pandemic has slipped many people's minds I forgot have you seen you shake hands with people twenty twenty we hear you we see we went from one crisis to the next to the next sizes now she spends her nights both protesting but also trying to protect other people stores and restaurants from destruction like emotionally torn like you're in there I don't think this is right but at the same time people are crying for help seeing six overnight there were more clashes more cries for justice as protesters demanded that all four of the fired officers involved in the death of George Floyd be prosecuted Floyd is a symbol of the many deaths of black people in police custody sided says she hopes all of

A Check-Up On California's Efforts To Combat Climate Change

"You A checkup now. On attempts to address Climate Change California is the fifth largest economy in the world. And it has some of the most aggressive climate policies in the country. It passed landmark law. Fourteen years ago to slash greenhouse gas emissions is also one of the first states to set a goal of going completely carbon neutral for many. California has been held up as a model but is it. Npr's Hannah Haeggman joins us now to take a closer look. Hi Hannah Halo all right. Let's tick through a couple of things look at energy. How is California doing so? The big emission cuts. We've seen there so far. Those have mostly come from getting off coal from two thousand four to two thousand. Six Cole was about twenty percent of the total electricity mix and in two thousand eighteen. It was only a little more than three percent. That's good yup. And that happened for a couple of reasons. California committed to this huge goal of getting greenhouse gas emissions below nineteen ninety levels. There was support from the Obama administration and wind and solar prices came way down. So because of all that Danny Colon word a researcher at Stanford Law School told me that. There's a clearer path to decarbonising electricity versus other industries. The technologies that cut the emissions are things we have and we know how to work with. That's installing solar plants. That's installing wind plants. That's putting battery energy storage systems and we have the right policies in tools to get it done and that's less true in some of the other sectors so energy good but he's mentioning these other sectors and I'm assuming one of those is transportation I'm thinking of electric cars. I Know California's done a lot. What's going on there? Actually over the last years vehicle emissions have inched up up. Yeah and that's because the number of people super commuting up to ninety minutes each way that's increase that's one part of the equation and another thing to a record number of Californians have cars about eighty out of every hundred all right. You mentioned commuting this week. It's all about telecommuting. People try to slow the spread of the corona virus. Yeah that's true and we don't know how long this will last but there's other issues at hand. I talked with Daniel sperling. He's a member of the California Air Resources Board about this thing. He called the Amazon prime effect What is that wanting more things delivered fast that means lots of trips from warehouses to neighborhoods and at the end of the day? That's meant an uptick in truck emissions. Which are the worst for the environment? So what about just putting people closer to work so that they don't have to supercomuter. Yeah that's easier said than done. And lawmakers have tried to address that by putting through various policies to build housing closer to city centers. They haven't been successful so far. Though there's also the question of people even really want to live in high rises and cities even if it does mean shorter commutes so kind of back to where we started Lou. The state is really pushing for people to buy more electric vehicles. Here's sperling we're kind of on the path. We just need to add a lot more urgency and move faster so California. Has this goal of getting five million zero emission vehicles on the road and ten years and in October of last year? There are about six hundred fifty five thousand of these cars on the road. Sperling has there are some state level incentives but there needs to be more to get more people to buy vs. Last thing is thirty to be a lot more charging infrastructure But if you put all these incentives in is that really enough to widely motivate Californians to buy vs yet Gets at the heart of the challenge. I talked to Havi Air Casinos. He's a native Californian and he commutes from Whittier California to Santa Ana about an hour and a half each way he drives a Honda. Civic that runs on natural gas he bought it a couple years ago to try and reduces impact but now the card doesn't meet the State's Clean Car Standards. He wants to buy a newer EV. But it's still too much for him at this point and he feels like people like him are being left behind Latinos and people of Color. We're the guys that drive all the way from east. La Too West La and we're not getting any love in terms of getting support to get in these cars so this is really about the environment which it's supposed to be about. Then why are you ostracizing your big majority of people that are on the road more than anyone else? So what's your big takeaway here when you look at? How a state like California? Which really has made this front and center is struggling so much. I mean with a state like California. They put up a lot of money to try and make these things happen at the same time. There's been a real slowdown a federal effort so now California's making progress to meet goals. But it might be going too slow that's NPR's Hannah Haeggman. Thank you so

Dr. Lydiana Garcia Discusses Teen Sexual Abuse

"Have Dr Louisiana Garcia here for Tell us where you're from again. What city of practicing. I am originally from Puerto Rico. But I'm practicing in West. La So thank you so much for being here. We're GONNA be talking about a heavy topic today so I'm going to go ahead again and give a trigger warning. This episode is going to be about sexual abuse in teens. And we're going to talk about the impact that that has in the family because we can't avoid it. There is going to be effective at the family. Has Dr Liana Garcia? Can you tell us what defines sexual abuse? Yes so there's many different ways of defining Ed but in general is any unwanted on unsolicited. Any kind of sexual interaction. It could be a touching cosby of exposing themselves. It could be on want to touch. It could be all the way to a penetration or any of that kind of sword but in general is that unwanted unsolicited nonconsensual touch and specifically with sexual abuse. Because from my understanding sexual abuse is in regards to children and sexual assault is in regards to adults. Is that correct? Well I guess it's also depending on what kind of Big comes up and it can go so many different ways and yeah but in general child abuse from how it's define is anything related including pornography. That's why I mentioned the whole part of on wanted exposure and with sexual abuse there was one parent that had asked this in social media. Can children sexually abused one another as well? Because the conception is that adults abused children but can it be the other way around I believe so yes and Independent on the stage with the law becomes tricky about the ages but definitely if one byner is showing any force any unwanted unsolicited nonconsensual way of demonstrating sexual behavior than it could be considered on the the rooms. Okay and we'll touch more about this in a little bit. Do you have any statistics about teens? That have been sexually abused. Yes this is based on the R. A. I N. Dot Org Wayne in. It's about sixty percent of twelve to seventeen year olds are victims of sexual abuse and thirty four percent on the age of twelve. So is really high and they have this kind of visuals that are it can be very intense because they like every eleven minutes a child protective certain service substantiates finds evidence of a claim of sexual child sexual abuse and in terms of girls. It's about every four to every five girls are being sexually abused. So and females ages sixteen to nineteen hundred four times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape attempt rate or sexual assaults. Yeah and these are statistics that they have from those that have reported it but there are still so so many more that go unreported as yes in also depending. But I've seen a lot in the Latino culture as well 'cause we don't we don't talk about it and then a lot of the times most of the cases the perpetrator. It's someone in the finals of that is some good than have a lot of back in the funniest well. Yeah that statistic is actually high. It's more commonly to be abused by someone in your family versus than by a stranger which is contrary to what we're taught stranger danger. Yeah and that's why right now you should. It's more about teaching children since their shoulder. Not Wait till they're adolescent to start recognizing besides the basic of not here not touched there by anyone but also to start recognizing very kind of instinct and whenever they feel like. Something's not o k into also not promote secrets because you should lead the perpetrator someone in the family or someone that defending knows includes a lot of secret like we don't tell this don't tell anyone etc etc yeah and bribing as well to maintain that secret so it's always important to just be in communication with your child regardless of age even if they're a teen as tougher. But what are the common signs that your team is being abused? Yeah so they were usually see our drastic changes or it could be very slow. Changes INCREMENT CHANGES IN THEIR DAILY FUNCTIONING. For example in sleep patterns may be right now. They're sleeping more or sleeping lies and any kind of saying that they're having nightmares or difficulty falling asleep new fears of not wanting to go somewhere sometimes issues with eating in their school. They might have some their grades might go down or they might not want to go to school or they might not want to be somewhere. If it's someone in the family day suddenly the WanNa go to a place that they're used to going. They can have mood swings they can have ability. They can become sometimes violent or express anger in that way but usually like any kind of sudden changes in a lot of clients also changes in their appearance. A lot of times. There's a great movie. I will not remember the name probably that I love it speak. That's the name he has in. It's a beautiful movie. I mean I work with this but is a great movie to display that whole house. She changed as a result of the in that case it was the rape in her appearance. She started to wear hoodies and wanted to go outside in in their disabled and her hair was messy and Baggy clothing. And all those not wanting to be with her friends stuff. Like what yeah. I've often also heard of people that also eat more to gain weight to appear less quote unquote attractive as a defense mechanism. Where the other way around as well. Because if they don't need the Loser Meneses of that kind of stuff. You can go to another year. Any of these signs that you have mentioned can also can also be considered as the same signs to be able to notice if your teen has been sexually abused in the past or is being sexually abused. Guess I would say yes. And if it's something that has been going for a while and the team does not feel comfortable with the parent. It might be a little harder for a minor to kind of express themselves to the parents or try to hide it but a lot of times parents start noticing changes. Even if it's subtle and I would always tell the moms in the pairs that come to my practice is alarms. They know that something is wrong. They might not know what it is but they know something's wrong. I often hear that it's drugs in our culture or their friends there with the wrong crowd and all those who wished that could happen as well as drug could be a coping mechanism. Yes it can but typically if your child has not been engaging in that and there isn't any sign of that and your child has disclosed sexual abuse we cannot invalidate that an go towards another extreme. The let's talk about the best way of handling that so if you're team discloses that they have been abused than what is the best way to handle this. I always recommend to not go against it. Like to not say that did not happen to really. Just listen to them and believe them from the get-go the more than the parents resisted. Then it becomes this horrible dynamic fighting of. Who's right or WHO's wrong. Any could be so detrimental in the teens kind of health journey if they feel that the parents believed them as opposed to not believe in

Motech money continues as Frank Motech continuing my conversation with LA mayor Garcetti for update on business and the economy and the city of angels mayor on the big issue of affordable housing here. What else would you like to see happen? Thank for all of us are recognition we have to build communities that are more self sufficient. In other words, what's put the housing closer to where jobs are none of us like to be two hours in traffic for the west side to house, maybe mid city. But that's what's happened. When we haven't built enough housing in west LA or put enough jobs in mid city. So thinking about those balances are going to be critically important while I'm proud to say that are one hundred thousand unit goal for housing. We will hit two years early. I think we have to double down on that. And I with what governor Newsom who's said, which is that, you know, municipalities that don't build there should be some sort of stick the city of LA is meeting those goals, but we sometimes have, you know, neighboring communities or other places in the state that figure well, the big cities will build housing. I don't need to this is really something all of California needs to join hands together to do. The mayor. Of course, some of the things that I hear most often about from business people as well. As residents, of course, is the the very visible tents and homeless on the streets. What can be done to address that issue? That's impacting residents as well. As businesses here in the area. There's no issue. I work on more. Even though to city has the very few of the tools, mental health hospitals social services, for instance, are a part of our counties responsibilities in in California. "In west LA is catching some and rightfully so it Mike d for three tweets. So drew in west LA is a grown man on escape board. Scoping another grown man running without iden- himself. Not creepy at all. Mighty from three Scott appoint point, drew. He's got a point drew. I mentioned that Adam Hauck had a guru prior to the race. Somebody who had been listening to the lead up and found hawk and wanted to help hawk and he's a prominent figure in the running community. Eric Gilson is his name. He's in Napa. He's actually on the call online right now. Eric could have you what's up? How are you? Jim. Great. Thanks. I've been listening a long time can't believe you still want great to have you on. So let me ask you now hockey told me prior to the race that you found him and you said listen hawk. I can get you through this thing. I can get you through it. You just have to do what I tell you. So what's your reaction first to him finishing the race? And to utilize the time matter. No, the time doesn't matter less than one percent of the world's population since out of a deep of ever walked or run twenty six point two consecutive miles. So he's in rare population like burns and myself. Thank god. You know? Hey, he did more for running than those top Americans. Did people are talking about the LA marathon? 'cause Adam hawks did the marathon yesterday. So you know, that's great people are going to run or maybe jog a little like Burnley. He was working out this morning, but that's no joke. That's no surprise. But here people are gonna maybe do a little extra. Maybe they're gonna work today. Maybe the next time they go to their doctor their hearts, strong, bloodworks better. That's tremendous Eric Gilson and joining us for a few moments. So Eric when you first heard that what were your thoughts? I mean rethinking I know the show I know hawk. I can help him what motivates you to call and share your expertise? Well, he told me over time. Or just training was like, and I knew from listening, and I just knew from that point on within a week before the marathon Hayes in the barn physically, but mentally from the neck up and nutritionally. What could I help them with? So to have a plan ABC Z always knowing he's going to go for a and hopefully, not go to see if you have a plan, you can do it. So I just went over that with them talked about, Saul sodium Gatorade, jell mile, two mile five ks breaking it down to eight the house five ks and I gave him a little inspiration talking about Eric Byrnes myself racing team Tillman foundation. The never forget about Pat. Thank you for what you've always done to support the troops. But yeah, I just gave them a little something. 'cause that he was in the bar, and I'll get through them next month reluctantly must arrest, and we'll get them ready and three weeks from today's Boston. And maybe he'll join me in twenty twenty ounce that myself. Bilberry. So you can't keep it unless you give it away. Nice job. Eric, listen. I appreciate you very much. Thanks for doing that. Thanks for helping out. Nice to have you. Eric gilson? On top of that. Burns. He hit me one more time. I think burns even talking to Adam Hauck, I said burns he we turned his f-bomb. But said, thank you very much. Really? Appreciate you. He's so great. Let's burn said. This is another great compliment to you hawk. He wrote hawk went. And he went all caps hawk went deep into the pain cave type of pain. They'll let you know you are bleeping alive. All caps. Tell that dude to keep charging and reach out if he needs any guidance for the next adventure. You're killing hawk an Eric Byrnes is reaching out saying you tell hawk I got his back, and he knows where to find me Andy's hyping for reaching deep into the pain cave. How many of you? Keyboard warriors, who are killing hawk have reached deep into the pain cave and got that kind of respect. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six let's go to I bet this guy understands what it's like to reach deep into the pain cave. I know I reached into the deep I reach deeper the pain cave when he gave me a fist-bump at Buffalo Wild Wings. Fabian in Los Angeles. Fabian. What's up? Me. It was funny. Yeah. Good morning and the whole deal, right? Yeah. It was funny. When I seen a Adam. Hey, you got a I was gonna do it for life on Friday. I went one hundred percent on that Hasbro. And you know, I got that one right? Only a big time prompt. A is that like, honestly, I understand 'cause I really don't exercise anymore, right? You know? But when you do. Like. Whatever little baseball game with a family, whatever. Right. And then the next day like, oh, man. Right. And right now, it's like when when Adam was walking towards you, man. Oh, man is imitating. Phil jackson. Or I mean, he's trying to be funny or what you know. 'cause he's like, oh like like an old dude and young individuals. But yeah. Twenty six miles as a grip attack. Hey, dude. I just wanted to call to give a oh, yeah. Okay. So now that I know that someone else was recording. Adam dude, it was funny because it was he was Adam was being honest. He's like, oh, whatever he said like, oh, one mile ten miles or whatever that was funny because it's like being honest. But it's telling me funny because he doesn't make you need that. At least I was laughing in the thing about his wife to you know, that oh I told I was going to be home by noon, blah, blah, the whole damn thing anyways, 'cause I've been alive thousand seven seventeen thousand eight hundred ninety seven days, dude. And I'm supposed to celebrate the and go to work. That's doesn't want hang up and keep drinking, and what did you guys? Hey, you made all those product do the ones that we believe in you, bro. Banff? One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six we're running out of time. Adam Hauck, and then there's Keith will not lose track. The fact Keith Arnold finish that marathon to. He's moving around a lot better than atom hawk hawk wasn't imitating. Phil jackson. He's a not much pain. What he did it? He did it burns. He gave him credit Eric Gilson and gave him credit. I gave him credit ninety percent of you. Clones gave them credit and true in west LA got along side of him on a skateboard enroll tape one without identifying himself and then mocked him on Twitter. The Mouse has officially swallowed the Fox

"I'm Kim masters, and this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me as Matt Bellamy of the Hollywood reporter and Matt as of this past week. The mouse swallowed the FOX, it's a cliche. I'm going to say it. Anyway, we had a cover of a mouse with a with a Foxtail hanging out of his mouth awhile back. This is a huge acquisition. It redraws the landscape of Hollywood. Absolutely. This is now a five studio town instead of a six studio town, and who knows what else is in the works. I mean, right now, I think these knee is probably the most powerful studio that has ever existed in Hollywood, Lee, content breath, everything from the Simpsons to marvel to family guy, and you know, the entire avatar franchise Star Wars, and you name it Disney has it now, and it's just going to be really difficult for other traditional studios to compete. Yeah. I mean, just at the box office alone. We have you know. You know, we recently had a story of it. It's a death star with with movies that are just a movie schedule release schedule that is Disney was already daunting before they had FOX. And now they're more daunting. The X men will return to the marvel fold FOX had a lot of plans for X men, which are now in the scrap heap. Obviously, Kevin Feige at knows what he's doing with marvel. Deadpool will move over. But we're we're looking at you know, broadly now is the emergence of two companies one is this behemoth that was formed by this merger. The other is the old FOX assets, which includes Fox News and the Fox Broadcasting channel. But not the TV studio that made some of the shows that were on that channel that channel is likely to be emphasizing things like sports and live events in reality. And meanwhile, this whole thing the the the object of the game here. Disney is moving into the streaming present slash. Future. I mean, you seen the rise of net flicks and some competitors to net. Flix Disney looks to be a death star when it comes to streaming as well. But this is going to be an expensive over the course of years and culturally challenging in every way, the sense of the word challenging process for Disney to try to establish itself as as something that you absolutely have to have. But I think if anyone has the brand I mean for long years people have said, Disney is the only brand that really matters in Hollywood. And I think that continues to be true, not to mention the thousands of layoffs that are going to come from this anywhere from four thousand to as many as ten thousand some analysts believe, yeah, there's going to be so much dislocation so many people at FOX there's just as even a geographical thing right now, we're all of FOX's situated in you know, in west LA on on PICO boulevard. And then there's Disney in Burbank, and there are people who are sort of split between the two and trying to go back and forth. I mean, this is going to be a digest. Question a challenge. And you know, it was thinking about Bob Eiger that chairman and CEO of Disney, and he has said he's going to retire several times now in kick that can down the road with this thing going on. I don't see a world in which he's a imminently retiring. I mean, he has to steer through this thing. And it's not a matter of a year or two no and the level of executive talent. That is now in the Disney company does give them some potential successors. But I don't think anyone is going to seem as an era parent intil, they approved themselves within this new company new landscape and as the shape of the new company emerges. Thank you. Thank you. That's Matt Bellamy editorial director of the Hollywood reporter. He joins me this Monday at two o'clock on the business. I'm Kim masters, and this is the Hollywood breakdown.

Slowly. This was a big deal today. Let's get over to dinar genie's fondue in the traffic center. Denise I definitely was a big we had thousands and thousands of people affected by this. When everybody had to bail from the ten it was just completely shut down on that westbound side to mid city in west LA. So that really did cause a problem through the mid city area in west Los Angeles, which I think we're gonna feel for most of the afternoon drive on Olympic and PICO in particular. So we're going to give you details on that about that ten westbound the surface streets in traffic coming up. Diane, Mike, thanks, Denise some serious trouble for an OC doctor. He's charged with illegally distributing opioid said led to several deadly overdoses more on this two minutes. From now, it's five traffic and weather together every ten minutes on the five. And we go back to Denise Fonda. And a good news is that that transition is reopened on that ten westbound to the four or five northbound in that was the last of the closures with that police investigation into the shooting to onto a bus. Let's seven ten we had trouble on the seventeen north before the ten. This was a track crash that traffic already backed up from the sixty and that slowing is definitely beginning to grow. We'll go back to the San Fernando Valley. And I believe we're going to take a look at what's happening with the one on one and possibly part of the four zero five L a car Geiss guy five with Desmond Shaw. Yeah. The north the eastbound, I should say I could see coming out charge. And it wasn't too bad towards the a four or five a bit sluggish from that point over towards your one thirty four think what you which expected westbound sluggish as well out of city of city to northbound four or five we're just getting over this now, and it is certainly a struggle coming out of a west LA up towards the valley. But northbound sepulveda's so far it looks like a pretty fucked show alternate. So you can enjoy that one for now. Let's check in with by. Now, he's got the Hollywood freeway. Jeff Cal so northbound side Santa Monica boulevard, right before we had a crash second lane from the left. Looks like see speed joss cleared that out of your way, you're slowing now we'll start at Vermont. It's going to be a slow ride through Hollywood as you make your way up in the San Fernando Valley. "Barbara Brooks. Thanks to a tipster for alerting to a stalled car in west LA, ten eastbound before national overland right lane blocked with that stalled vehicle, and it's jamming up leaving the four zero five watch out for delays still I'd say reduce speeds at this point four zero five northbound from Wilshire boulevard making way up toward the one on one. It is definitely getting better and sepulveda's northbound also starting to look better if you wanna use that as an alternate that cleared the crash past Getty, and if you're heading to the airport, maybe leaving early. For thanksgiving. Watch out. It's still busy on the departure level lower level. Definitely moving much better there at LAX if you need to use that and you're still going to find little delay through the tunnel on sepulveda's boulevard, especially northbound heading towards century got some problems if you're trying to take the five northbound through Kostanic comes out has the canyon to lake Hughes road, the two right lanes and work in Mission Hills one eighteen but the east and westbound four or five to the five right lane closed in both directions. There connector from the five. Southbound to the one eighteen eastbound shut down downtown you've got transitions closed one zero one northbound to the one ten north and southbound taken away for roadwork until tomorrow morning, and we've got work on a crash in Anaheim. It was the end of a police pursuit vehicle overturned Disney way on ramp to the five southbound maybe blocked with this IDC some delays even on hamster in the area. Twenty one I think so I dropped out of college so Was already. A good, decision yes not. Speaks on your behalf thank. You The the number of quality people I meet the young people folks. Who have dropped out of college or never went is a very high the number of idiots. Who, went to college is also. Very high By the way they're fine. People who go to college I. Don't I don't have I'm not a fool I recommend there are some true fools who never went to. College nevertheless there's no relationship between going to college and being intelligent There is a relationship between. Going, to college and having foolish views that I do believe Not everybody who goes to college does but there, were times when I, hear? Thing if you believe. That what the center said was racist you went to. College right that's a perfect example you have to learn how to lie in that regard So back to you will so you do these videos the man on the street as it, were what was the one you did before this this last one so, the one I did before that we went to Venice beach and. We went and talk, to people of all different, races and we asked them, basically if racial identity matters. Like. Doesn't, matter if you're proud to be white proud to be black and, most people just want it to be proud, to be American and even in west e- even like, west LA which it, is? West LA but even. On Venice beach yeah well it's shocking because you you But you, listen to the mainstream media, and they were trying to. Tell. You, the racial tensions are killing Essentially between right and left Yes exactly exactly and so. It's not nearly so you you asked people of all colors Well so what, did you exactly ask them so we asked them. If they were, if they were, black we asked him if they're proud to be black if. They're white if they're primarily they said they didn't say they were proud, to be black most people did say they. Were proud to. Be the, race they are but they said. That, it. Didn't really matter. They said everyone's so yeah. That's what matters does it matter. Yeah exactly. But it is it. Is an, interesting point, I'm not proud. To, be. White. I don't I don't even understand it's. Like you know I might proud You know that I? Don't, have black heads I mean I it's just oh that's a bad one who had just realized or Whitehead's okay come, out of that one so this is this is what, they, that's why it's, to tell a tear in the left the the monitoring of innocent. Language all right so you. You ask, that what what disturbed you of all the videos you've done that's the one you just mentioned that you just did. About do you believe that hate speech? Should be censored and how many of your peers said Yes, Anything else disturb you that you recall from the. Videos you've made, yeah I think, one that was very disturbing was the one I did where. It went to the March for our lives which was the pro gun, March are pro anti-gun March basically anti second. Amendment March and. The people, there they were all against the. Second, amendment. They were all. Against guns I mean they. Were marching to have their rights. Be taken. Away from them and. To see, just like, so much of Of people just can't even? Understanding. That they haven't heard any ideas that are pro gun before in? Their, lives and then going in protesting it it's shocking and so it it's a lot of work to be done in, America I mean America and a lot of ways is, crumbling, that they can, get, ten thousand people to show up to a March in Los. Angeles when I say someone. Much older, than you when I say the America I grew up in was a lot freer do do you believe me Does that resonate or, or is it just you know an older guy you, know nostalgic about his his youth in some ways yes or no because I think that you know people who are minorities women in America have the best that. They've ever had it in the world and they live here in America and they're. The most free they can do things whatever they want to that you know past and not last hundred years they might not have been able. To do right so but I think that now back in your time I don't wanna say that made you sound. Too. Old but back then Traditional family values conservative values. We're, much, more prevalent than I think people felt a lot, more freer free with that as well so it's kind, of both ways We we didn't have all the restrictions that you. Have the right like free speech I remember, I remember yelling at, kids you, know playing a, ball in the street. In Brooklyn and they might? Say you know somebody would? Say you. Can't save that what are, you talking. About is America got free speech it was it was a, common cliche even That's that's an example of what I. Mean now people I mean I do see that. People nowadays I go and talk to. People on, the street they want their rights. Taken away they literally want their free speech amendments our first amendment to be taken away and their second amendment to be taken away it's like they, don't even care about these things they've taken them for granted so long. I. Mean, it's it's shocking what's going on that's why. Prager you is. So important that we're reaching so many, young people, with these videos to expose them with these, men on the street, videos expose, the young people, in an educated them. With our five minute videos? Yup well you're part of? It and. I thank you thank we'll, wit So, just want you to know is there's one more day to the to. August. One, more data the fundraising campaign for this year. For Prager you And whatever you give will be tripled that was, true yesterday today and tomorrow what's the big deal And he could do it at Prager you could do with through the banner. At my website or call eight hundred? Three Prager. You and I thank you and I thank you will. Slot of fun working with you thank. You I appreciate it Good Love to be. Done God Those by the, way it's a very thoughtful answer on the on the free on the freedom. Thing it was a very good. Answer I appreciate that There are things. That are better I don't I.
