"Do you consider yourself good at complaining when it's warranted. Yes the the long standing joke with my family. Is that if if something goes wrong. Like with a service or a business or whatever. The joke is going to write a letter. Because i have a long standing habit of letting people know when i'm unhappy with something and it's always warranted. It's not just because like you know. I was seated at a table or something stupid like that. You know it's always wanted anyway. Tell me your story. So i have two examples. Well okay so we had this laundry flood recently and The first company that we hired to remediate ghosted as midway through the process and it took me longer than it probably should have to go higher up. I couldn't get a response. And i finally went to the supervisor of the person i had been working with them. I felt very guilty about that and cut to the second company that we hired. They were great like ninety nine percent of the time except like at one point they patched a wall and they did like touch up paint in the wrong color. Thank god no. This is one of those things. I was like okay i. They should have asked me right before hitting the wall and then when they realized it was the wrong color then they should have said something. Because it's very obviously not the correct color but this is one of those things where it's like. I'm just gonna fix this myself. Most of us. I'm so tired of having people my house right. But also prior to that i had been the all our communication had been great and i had been thinking like. Oh i'm going to leave them. Good yelp review when this is over a non like can i in good faith being like. They were great but their attention to detail sucks. I don't need them. A negative yelp review. I don't know i'm tempted to leave. No yelp review at all. If i can't leave a positive one no. I think it's fair to highlight all the great stuff that they did and then just say. My only feedback is this. You know what. I mean like it fared. You're not like trashing them known mistake with painkillers. No big deal just say hey look at the wrong paint like can you let us know what the right one is so we can fix this. Okay i have a question. What did they did. They go through your garage looking for the paint. Did they try to paint match it. What did they do know. They had the paint for the inside of the laundry room but the laundry room is a different color than the hallway and they rate to patch some paint in the hallway. And they're close in color but they're not the same because we did like a shade darker in the laundry obviously different when it's on the wall so i think they just assumed these two rooms are both gray. We're just gonna use the same. Hey and then when it went on the wall. I know they knew. It was a problem because wendy. You'll remember. I was texting something's happening. They got real quiet. And they're whispering upstairs and i was really concerned that they had somehow like ruined the brand new carpet that they had put him and they didn't say anything to me and when i went upstairs day i immediately saw. Oh i can see exactly what they did and had just decided. We're going to fix ourselves. 'cause yeah no i definitely definitely think it's fair to because look think about it. From our shoes we go to yelp for everything. Right i do..

And i'm just gonna read to snippets from the email. The beginnings has fake until you make it great episode. I think we all fake it. Now and then those are called filters i do realize though the older i get the thinner my filters become which agree uh-huh and later on she says i seem like a super confident person but inside. I think people don't like me either. I've a wonderful group of retired teacher friends. But i've always felt that they are including me because i became friends with one of them and the rest of them just had to accept me and if i feel ignored in the slightest i go over and over it in my head what i did or what i said i know. I'm probably just imagining things. And perhaps they're busy. But i blame myself so megan. You aren't alone in this and i'm sure we're not the only two i'm sure of that. Also so thank you for email lease i wanted. Let me at a note here. I was talking to my husband about that episode. I mentioned our most recent episode. She's like oh. Are you actually like going. Deep into these things and i was like well. I said that. I think most people don't like me. That's my default. Who like wow and it's so funny that i said that because i assumed for a long time that this person didn't like me as i was saying it i thought is she in her mind like she's on to me wing Anyway if you're listening to this she's always been incredibly lovely to me. But then i'm like maybe this person's just a good person and she's good at making people around her feel good about themselves right anyway. It's never ending. Mark Zuckerberg Helped Dems Sway the 2020 Election

"Mark Zuckerberg's center for technology and civic life demanded the promotion of universal mail and voting with their $420 million. How, by suspending election laws because people were too afraid to go vote in person, but they were okay to go burn down a Wendy's in downtown Atlanta. Extending deadlines that favored mail in over in person voting, greatly expanded opportunities for ballot curing expensive bulk mailings and other lavish community outreach programs that were directed by private activists. This right here is the best example of how our economy is rigged. Private public partnerships, colluding together to crush you. What do you have here private public partnerships? And saying, hey, we're going to change the way we cure ballots. We're going to change the way that we do community outreach. Do you want this $30 million? Phoenix, and the money went directly into the administration of the elections. And no one did anything about this. No one thought to say, wait a second, a private company can just come in with a bunch of money and tell the local city like this is how we're going to count our ballots? Isn't this everything that the Democrats said that this is the threat to democracy we were told for years? Private interest telling elections how to do their business. Silence from the left. Obviously, because it benefits their political objectives. It makes them more

"Let's talk about the other. Big news wendy roaches arizona. Senator senator with i think how many other ninety other politicians demanded these certification and talk to us about this idea of decertification vice. Reinstatement we said. Reinstatement not a goer. What is the significance of this phrase in. How realistic is it. Well it's realistic. As long as republicans have the political backbone in the political will to actually do something about it so well. Reinstatement was a political theory. That was kind of in my view. Outside the margins of the us constitution decertification is important because it is a legislative recognition through the actual constitutionally appointed entity to recognize and safe for the record. The certifications that happened in the swing states including arizona. Were false. they were based on information and facts. That were that we have said. Throughout since november third is not the accurate reflection of what the voters actually indicated. Or what happens then say arizona decides okay. This is enough abnormalities. Tens of thousands of votes that have potentially fraudulent if they decertify. Does that not then require if there's a requisite number of these certifications for a re meeting of the electoral college well. So that's one thing that can in in my opinion should happen. If you get at least three states to decertify. And basically joe biden falls below the two hundred seventy threshold. Then we are in the constitutional crisis of congress having to say. Hey listen we now are in the position that the the installed president didn't actually reach the threshold. So what should happen is it should go then to the. "Senator. Kirsten cinema was teaching a class at arizona. Same with the first one of the racist and the biggest that were not held accountable by the state university administration by the way a lot of conservatives think. Asu is this wonderful place. The Pros and Cons of Soya Beans

"The only time to my knowledge that i've ever eaten a soybean in soybean form is at amami those green pods you get as a starter at sushi restaurants which i love so young soybeans which is what mommy is is generally esteemed but once you actually had the mature bean and then you try to cook it. The results tend to be less than appetizing. Gen fu is a professor at emory university. Who studies the history of science technology and medicine in china. And she's the author of the other milk. She published under jetson but she goes by wendy her everyday life. So that's what we're going to call her. This episode wendy told us that the soybean was likely domesticated in what's now northeastern china. Right on the border with korea wild soybeans and then domesticated soybeans. They're not particularly high maintenance. They grow well in a lot of different regions and their beans which are in general. A good thing to and so people ate a lot of them. It isn't early crowd that is recognized and becomes part of what is known as the classical grains. so we know that soybean is not actually green but it was treated as sort of staple food similar to weet As well as rice it was a staple yes but it was only a staple out of necessity. Like wendy said. The mature soybean has some issues more so even than many of its fellow colleagues. It causes pretty intense gas innocent flatulence and even though like all means it's packed with protein. It also contains a chemical that means our bodies kant really process that protein but there is a way around the protein blocking problem and at least a little of the flatulence problem and that is to boil the crap out of mature

"Of anxiety to improve our focus productivity communication skills and so much more. Let's find out how. Wendy welcome back to live happy. Now thank you so much. It's great to be back. This is such an important topic because we talk about anxiety all the time. But not like you're talking about it so i cannot wait to have this conversation. You know. anxiety is something that we just automatically think of as being bad so to start as i wanted to find out what made you begin to study it from a completely different perspective so the original inspiration to study it was really just the observation of all the students that i had and all of the incredibly high levels of anxiety that i saw them go through multiple times during the semester particularly at at finals up. But it wasn't just a students it was my faculty colleagues. It was my friends. It was myself and this was before our kovin adventure. And so i just started thinking about what what is it. Why are we having this of epidemic of anxiety. What's causing it. Is there another way to look at it and from the book i think the i core concept is the realization that evolution airily anxiety and the underlying stress response is protective for us. It's there to help us. Protect protect us from outside forces. Negative things fearful things dangerous things and that so far away from how we think about anxiety right now. It is something that we want to get rid of. We won't have anything to do with it. We're we're ashamed of it. We don't want you know we don't want to engage with it. And i thought well wait a second if it's protective. Can we get back to some of those benefits that that protection can confer and that was the kind of original origin of why i got interested in anxiety. And it's so fascinating because even the subtitle calls it are most misunderstood emotion which captures your attention immediately because we all think we understand anxiety. Pretty well let me..

"Government is urging people to return to the office. What impact is that going to have particularly on women. Many of whom have been working from home for over a year. We've had such a huge reaction from our listeners that we wanted to hear more. Boris johnson's called for a gradual return over the summer. The chancellor and some business leaders are calling for people to taper off homeworking for the sake of their prospects the economy and their wellbeing but research for the bbc art today shows that in an increasing number of jobs are being advertised with the option of working from home where we're gonna hear directly from listeners with a range of us and experiences all on all of this but i i'm joined by wendy hallett at wendy was a senior manager retail group arcadia and she oversaw top shop on street in london are on twenty years ago they. She founded her own retail company to create a flexible working environment for herself. When her children were young and nice she advocates this for her entire staff. Wendy welcome went very invited me on wendy earlier this week. We heard this suggestion. That civil servants should get their pay docked if they continue to work from home and the times newspaper has the story today. That tech companies. Google is planning something similar. I wonder if you think a financial penalty is the way to get employees back to the workplace and indeed if they need to be going back to the workplace at all. I definitely don't think that Starting off with looking at financial penalties to get back in the office is the right way to go. I think the fact that that has been so much more working from home so much. More flexibility for men and for women. It's not just a female Issue gives us a huge opportunity to look at how we do work so i think to come coming on a negative which he shall we pay is totally wrong and i do think that we should be looking at flexibility. I wouldn't advocate everybody working from home every single day but i think there should be now a flexible approach. This is a huge opportunity to narrow. I think the pay gap of anti changes the way we look at working going forward.

Norwegian Cruise Line Challenges Florida Passenger Vaccine Law

"Expected soon in the cruise vaccine Passport Band Challenge heard Friday by a federal judge in Miami. Norwegian Cruise Lines argues the ban It is unconstitutional and could cause irreparable harm as it wants to know passengers shot status in order to protect them. Attorney Derek Schaefer says Not having this information could open a huge can of worms in port cities, especially foreign ones that want to see that passengers were vaccinated in order to leave the cruise ship without restrictions and the concerns about local populations that would be compromised and put at risk. If Norwegian can't say all the way that it is planning to do. The state claims Florida has exercised its sovereign power and banning the passports and the businesses should be prohibited from denying service to customers who won't provide vaccine documentation. And you have to if you wouldn't give your money to planned parenthood. Then don't go by a trinket or a hamburger that will give money to planned parenthood for you. It's the same thing and especially when you look at a family and they say hey we're gonna go redesign our home okay. If you're no redesign your home you're gonna spend ten thousand bucks. The profit margin on that at a certain home improvement store lee pretty significant and you might even be giving as much as two hundred fifty of that ten thousand dollars to their their charitable account. Right and that that's not unforeseen considering the markup but if you go to the right store it won't go to planned parenthood. Charlie Kirk Says COVID-19 Is Not the Leading Cause of Death

"The right thing to do. How big of a threat is the chinese corona virus. Well every single day in the united states according to data that is publicly available as of two thousand nineteen one thousand eight hundred people die of heart disease. Why don't we lockdown burger king mcdonalds and wendy's and not locked down businesses of people that are trying their best to get by in fact. Why would we lockdown gymnasiums when people are actually literally trying to get healthy by the way this is daily. Let me just reinforce this. This is daily. One thousand eight hundred people die. Every single day of heart disease one thousand six hundred forty of cancer four hundred seventy by accident four hundred thirty of chronic lower respiratory disease. Four hundred ten of stroke their three hundred thirty of alzheimer's and now cova deaths are below three hundred twenty four. In fact yesterday there was seventy one confirmed cova deaths. Seventy one confirmed cova debts. And if you look at category by category last year included zero to seventeen years old three hundred and forty people died involving with one thousand nine hundred and alex berenson says that that is almost immeasurable. Statistically fifty one thousand two hundred thirteen people died from all causes from ages. Eighteen to twenty nine two thousand four hundred ninety three people died from coverted and ninety six thousand six hundred twenty five from all causes from thirty to thirty nine years old. Seven thousand one hundred forty five people died from cove in nineteen allegedly and one hundred thirty seven thousand people eight hundred forty nine from all causes you go category to category. Do you know that cova was not the leading cause of death for any single age group including last year including eighty five years and older including seventy five to eighty four. It was not the leading cause of death for any category or any group.

Chinese Officials Blame U.S. for Stalemate in High-Level Talks

"Let's turn now to our panel and let's look first at the relationship between china and the united states who are still figuring out how to talk to each other again following the chest beating and or chest probing the trump years possibly to beijing disappointment while. Us president has been a lot less noisy. Where china is concerned. He has not been a great deal more friendly. Nevertheless high ish level talks between the two superpowers have begun in tianjin. China's vice foreign minister asia fong is hosting deputy. Us secretary of state. Wendy sherman a isabel first of all Vice foreign minister has said that relations between the two superpowers are at a stalemate. Is she right. Certainly not wrong I mean if you look at the list of of things that each is demanding of the other they made no progress whatsoever so the chinese would like for example like the tariffs lifted which quite a lot of people think is a good idea They would like the americans to stop trying to extradite the c c o of of They would like the sanctions against chinese officials over hong kong and xinjiang lifted. None of that is going to happen. Meanwhile the americans would like the two men who are being held essentially hostage for the hallway case to be released and they would like a whole series of concessions that the chinese and not going to grant and both sites are held in a trap of rising nationalism at home so that if the chinese were to back off any of the very assertive moves that they've made over the last two months there would be a. How outrage from nationalist citizens and if the americans were to back off the bye administration was to back off the republicans would shred them in congress. So i don't see it really warming up I think the best they can do is keep talking to each other rather than not

China Sanctions Wilbur Ross and Others, Responding to Hong Kong Warnings

"Fresh sanctions on a handful of US individuals. It's retaliation for sanctions the bite and administration imposed on Chinese officials last week. Over Beijing's crackdown on democracy in Hong Kong. Its latest attack comes just days before a visit to China by Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and US China ties are already tense, though, as NPR's John Ruit reports there is no sign China's sanctions will derail the visit. Sanctions are the first imposed by China under a new law passed in June, which facilitates retaliation for foreign sanctions. Among those it hits a former Commerce secretary Wilbur Ross, and the China director at Human Rights Watch Sophie Richardson. For years, Beijing's responded to US sanctions and tariffs with tit for tat measures in Beijing's calculation, it had to respond to the US Bonnie Lynn, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, says doing so before Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman's trip makes sense would disappear better if it happened a couple days after Deputy Secretary Sherman's trip that she says might risk being interpreted as a signal that the meeting didn't go well. And Sherman will be the most senior U. S official to travel to China since President Biden took office. Relations are at their worst in decades. But there's speculation that the trip could start to lay the groundwork for a meeting sometime this year between Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. There is a desire to be able to showcase that the two world leaders can work together and part of that is being able to meet and discuss issues they agree on as well as those where they have differences, and I really hope As we see more of these incidents is on either side that they won't derail progress towards the usual meeting because both sides, she says, have significant incentives for Biden and she to meet sooner rather than later. Alphabet's New Moonshot Company: Intrinsic

"Alphabet has a new moonshot. it's called intrinsic a new company to build. Apparently although we're not entirely sure software for industrial robots and so intrinsic will join alphabets portfolio of other bets that includes the likes of waymo wing and verily quoting the verge details on what exactly intrinsic is building or who its customers will be are unclear a blog post from the company's new ceo. Wendy ten white discusses intrinsic ambitions in broad terms saying it will quote unlocked the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics for millions more businesses entrepreneurs and developers and by creating software that will make industrial robots quote easier to use less costly and more flexible and quote. Robotics have been an obsession at google for years. But the company's efforts have been unfocused and have yet to produce any commercial hits in two thousand thirteen. Google went on a shopping spree for robots buying seven companies and roughly six months including shaft a japanese firm known for bipedal robots boughten dali makers of very cool viral videos and boston dynamics which needs no introduction. The effort was named replicant. And headed. By andy rubin and executive who co founded the android mobile operating system over the years though. No news emerged from replicant. And google either sold off or shut down most of its acquisitions. Why partly because robots are hard to make and not very profitable but also because of rubin's departure from the company in two fourteen after being accused of sexual misconduct which google kept secret at the time. Since replicates failure the company has focused more on the software side of things using machine learning to teach robots to manipulate objects without direct supervision. This place into google strengths and will apparently be intrinsic focus. Going

"Painting. No no did i tell you. Did i tell you even thinking about. It makes my hands her. There's no way there's no way so for those who are unfamiliar. First of all diamond. Painting is a terrible name for what this actually is essentially. It's paint by numbers but you use tiny little plastic beads. Would you say that's accurate. Little are tiny you they come in kits. I think you could free it never going to do that. I like the kim. And it's basically comes with a sheet of fabric with the design printed on it and adhesive coating on it and on the sheet of fabric are tiny little circles. Sometimes they come in squares with the one. I use this tiny little circles that are color coded and then you have corresponding teeny tiny little plastic beads. That you use a small tool. Looks like a pen or a pencil to move the beads from a little tray to the painting. And you just repeat repeat repeat repeat you dip the tool a little bit of wax makes the tip of the two a little sticky and then you just tap back and forth and it sticks to the surface of the sabbath i i do. They look stressful. They did not enjoyable and then our friend. Michelle was posting one. She was working on instagram. And so i started asking her questions and so she started showing me video. She was sending me damning video of her a process and i thought that it kind of looked relaxing watching her do it. I was like oh. I do that so i ordered a kit and i do it for me. Ten twenty minutes at a time. I don't because they're so small. The my eyes start to like what i do. Find it in the moment kind of relaxing. I like to do it kind of after dinner while everyone's link kind of buzzing around the kitchen doing their own thing finishing homework cleaning up and i'm just kind of like existing in that space. Just life is happening around me. But i find it very relaxing. I keep it at my desk will. Sometimes we'll sit down and do it for a minute or two while the tv's on in the background. But i enjoy it. I think i'll get another one just to have a project to do. Watch a movie both my kids like. Oh what's that can. I try it. my son was done after two miters like one of those so i might get one pressed together. They're just kind of mindless and for me. It's nice because when i watch. Tv i have a tendency to want another screen in my hand in this forces me not to do that. Okay those things just give me too much anxiety like even hearing you talk about it right now like all wound up about it but my daughter has one. They were very big on tiktok during the summer So we went to michael's and bought one. She hasn't even completed the one that we bought during the summertime But it's not it's a lot of work. It's not like something that you can finish in a day. I don't think cray like it would take days and days of doing it. Mine small but myers yet huge chapel. Our start to finish. Oh hellum mine. Because mine's small towns like five seven. Sized hers is like of the sydney opera house. It's huge anyway. She ended up finding like some sort of tool on amazon. "All right wendy. I would like to go second in megan wendy approved. Because i know you're gonna hate my thing so i want you to go first. Okay wow wow. I already know your opinion on this thing disgusted in the past. But i'm i'm charging for it and sharing it anyway but you go first okay. I'm excited to share a beauty item. Today it's something. I've had in my journal for a long. Not even a longtime a year maybe It is the poor. Lewis primer petty by elf cosmetics omega. It's like eight dollars. You can get at target tell you can get it from the cosmetics website it is basically a Primer that you put on your face before you put your makeup on. I have both versions like a matt version and luminous version. I use both of them. It just does something special for my face. I'm not wearing a ton of makeup. These days like a ton of like foundation or anything. So when i want to kind of smooth things out i have a lot of pores on my nose and chin and this stuff is magic. It's infused with squall. Lean for hydration. I don't know what squalene is do you. It's an oil. That's okay and it doesn't have silicone or alcohol in it. I love it for eight bucks. It's like blowing my mind right now. I use that daily. And i use the original version do you. You don't have. You don't like the luminous i don't have it i might like it. Sometimes luminous stuff makes my face look gray o like it doesn't react well because my skin so pink. Sometimes if they like have like a little bit of a silver undertone anyway Not all luminous formulas are particularly flattering. But see i think. I look gray. In general i put the luminous on it brings a little life to my face i love it love it love it love it so mine is a craft item are you. Are you picking up. When i'm putting down here. Mind crafting stuff. Yeah oh god okay and it is. The craze called diamond.

"Her staff felt very threatened being close to him because you know the physical proximity and the court basically had to physically put barriers in between them to ensure the prosecutor and her staff and their safety. The toxicology report was kind of i would say a wash. It showed that. Wendy had some narcotics. Her did show that she had percocet but not so much that it would have rendered her incapacitated her which fits with what you'll the said. They said she was out of it but not completely the defense. Obviously a scotto on his team is using this to say no. She just took a little bit. We didn't put this in her drink then. The medical examiner took the stand and said he believed wendy was hit by two assailants which was somewhat of a shock. But not really. Do you know what it was based on. Yeah there was some of the blows to her one look like come from a right handed person another from a left handed person but that could be it could be but you might also then say well. Maybe you'll lonzo participated even more than she actually said she. Was there actually helping him and physically harming wendy or hurting her maybe. She participated more than she said she did. There was no dna from a scotto found on wendy. No weapon found. We know that but what in his dna had been on her anyway if they were together the hotel. Yeah right so that's right now. That's that's washington and you just didn't have the dna evidence. After a bizarre seven-week trial prosecutor gail levin would give her closing explaining that she would love to charge yolanda. But she didn't because of her deal. And i want you to remember that because i want to discuss this deal a bit more. That's what the prosecutor said. She got up and said you. Llandough surreal is disgusting person. She's guilty. I want to charge her too. But i can't unbound by this deal. I made with her and without her we would have never gotten him and he was the mastermind. This is his con his murder. Scotto had his court appointed counsel provide the closing. He hadn't done a good job maybe up. This was his last ditch effort. He said the case was circumstance. He got up there and say look. This is a circumstantial case and really there was never enough evidence to convict to scotto. He pointed to the obvious killer. Who made a deal on the stand and saved her. Hide implicated a scotto. But what would the jury think. There was a verdict in less than three hours. What do you think amy too short. Yeah and what do you think that means guilty. Guilty of first degree premeditated murder as scotto had no reaction. The family cried out an obvious relief and possibly joy that wendy would have some justice..

"Yulon takes the stand. Yolanda would finally tell the court family and spectators. What she said really happened to wendy. And that's what everyone was waiting for so this was on her direct examination i. She said that she was heartbroken. By michelle's decision to leave her just setting the stage but then she said that michelle was just going to marry wendy for the money and then wendy would die and they would get back together. Good yolanda said that she helped michelle plan and carry out his crime. Now i just want to say that you'll want had said before when she struck the deal that she helped afterwards on on the stand she is telling a different story. She is now explaining that she helped in the planning and at various stages. She premeditated this murder with him so she's no longer immune issue. That's a question that we're gonna. That's the thing that i want to ask you later in what you think because initially when she negotiated the deal it was that she had done things afterwards to help them cover up she knew and whatnot. Now what we're hearing at trial. Wait till you hear this. She said that she helped. Michelle try to simulate drowning in her own tub of herself basically had michelle drowned her to see what it would look like. Would it leave physical marks at and this was her idea and she said that after she came up from the water because she You know almost got close to drowning. She told michelle. No you can't do that because it's gonna leave marks if you hold her down. She suggested that he drugged wendy. Do not go out and then drowned her using a towel to hold her down instead of hands so that it wouldn't leave those marks. We were just talking about. And she's saying on the sand all this on the stand and she's crying and talking about how she's remorseful or she might be remorseful or she might be a complete antisocial. Yeah i mean on the stand. She's crying but you don't know if she's crying for it's fake. Uganda helped him grinded up. They got percocet and they grind up basically the percocet that she did it. Like with a mortar and pestle l. Sorry no she didn't get the drugs but she he got them and she helped grind them up so she's again at every step she's planning she's helping a sotos slip. The drugs in wendy's drank that night in the hotel the hotel. They went to near their home but he couldn't drown her. And i don't know if it's like he couldn't go through with it or did he. Just couldn't she was still. Wendy wasn't completely out so he put a clearly out of it wendy in the car and took her to.

"I i. I'm still rockin. Eight plus. I haven't had any. I haven't had any problems with it is starting to slow a little. May i have noticed especially in texting. I mean yeah. I think a new film is in future as well all right. Let's let's we have a category for twenty twenty. Do you have a favorite mask. It's so funny. Because i was going to ask you about this the other day because i don't love any face masks and i'm not sure that there's any face masks that i would ever love somebody because i don't really like the feeling of wearing a mask however the ones that we consistently re by i wear the most often are the universal thread from target pleaded masks. Not the ones that have the seemed on the center but the pleaded version fit my face. The best i find them the most comfortable. And i continue to purchase over and over. So i'm not a fan of the one has the same down the middle because i think it makes me look like a duck. They're real pointed down the front Yeah i haven't used the universal thread. I'm actually a fan of the old navy. Ones like you said the pleaded the pleaded style for me. I just like that. They have a large variety. they have seasonal ones. they're cheap and most of all they're not so tight on my face at my lips. Don't rub that's my biggest pet peeve if my lips are touching them ask like lives in mutations are adjustable so i don't know if you have any of the newer ones but now they have the little adjustable toggles Don't know if i do. i don't think i do. And they have some really q- ones and actually drove past an old navy today but there was a line out the front so it will not worth so i will not be getting old navy holiday mask but i always see those five packs and they have cute patterns so really cute ones for kids to. Oh my gosh. I've seen some valentine. The kids wins. Don't unless they've resized them. I bought a pack for my daughter. Who's ten and they were way too small but they do have really cute kid patterns if you have younger kids all right. What's your of all the projects you've taken on this year. What's your favorite sites. Thought about this. I really haven't taken on that many projects but the one project that. I'm most proud about while i have to. This is a tie though the one. I'm really proud about is my commitment to rape postcards to voters in swing states. That's a good one. Yeah it took little effort. And i could do it in my downtime and i got the result that we wanted so i'm very proud of myself but a tie is this podcast. I'm so glad we started it. I am to that actually is mind but now that you say that i am proud that i i volunteered for dnc. I did text banking which is slightly less time involvement than the postcards. But this is the first time i've ever been involved in a political campaign and it felt great even when people yelled at me. Text message and i think you know getting involved. There's so many great ways to do it. And i think will absolutely do it in the future but yes this podcast. I'm proud of us. We've talked about it for a long time. Yeah and go from having an idea to creating it and launching it and now we have eighteen episodes out there and we're not going anywhere in twenty twenty one and it's been fun and it's nice to have a completed thing in front of you. Yes agree i will tell you so if you guys are regular listeners you know that we record from our closets respectively and every time i walk into my closet i got. Oh i can't wait to sit down and that my podcast equipment up in here. You know i i enjoy. I enjoy it from start to finish. I enjoy talking about what we're gonna podcast about. I enjoy sitting down to podcast. I like listening back to it. I like getting feedback from people about it. I like waking up on podcast days knowing that. There's a new podcast. We played out. There aren't will since this was a full episode of megan approve. We don't have a final megan and wendy approved segment. Because you got so much of it so we wanted to say that this is our last main podcast episode of twenty twenty..

"I will tell you a book that i've recommended to a lot of people and i really enjoyed and that is the the book called beach. Read and maybe. I should of emily. Henry is the author of this book. And it's one of those books like it's kind of a little on the nose right like we all along we're looking for beach reads and it is like fat like it is a fun summer read but it has a little bit more depth than your typical beach read. I really enjoyed it. It's one of the books that i would highly recommend the people who what book did you read that you enjoy this year. I know i say this every year. That i want you to make me a list of books. I should read. I really don't need to because you write these posts for our website like your favorite like books of the year. Are you going to do with this year sherry favor anyway. Twenty twenty. I should just like go back and look at that. We'll you should read retreat. I would recommend it. I know we don't always have the same tastes in books. But it's not why i like. Why has a little bit of steam. I like that too all right. It's time for your favorite movie of the year and this is such a sad category in a year that nobody has been to the movies. I know i tried to ask my husband i said. Do we have a favorite movie. We've seen this year and he. He pulled up like the netflix looking back. No i cannot come up with one. I do not have a favorite movie of the air i bet you do and i bet it's the same as mine. Which is hamilton. Consider that a movie. It was going to be released in the movie theater. Okay i loved it. I watched it the weekend. It came out in july. I yes i will say yes. I agree with that. I don't. i don't consider movie. So well i would suppose that is semantics. It's my favorite movie. I don't that. I've seen a movie in the theater. In the first couple months of the year. I was trying to look online to see what was released this year. But i don't think. I saw a movie in the theater. Meaninglessly watched several on. I thought it was incredibly. Well done. obviously it is just a film version of the staged production. I wasn't sure that i was going to enjoy it. Wendy and i have both seen. It live twice. And i thought Isn't gonna be good. It delivers oh totally did an incredible job filming. Ed i think one of the best things about it is part of the problem with broadway musicals and hamilton especially is it's really only available to a select group of people a you know it's in new york. Yes at tour so you have access. If you're in. One of its touring cities. Tickets are so expensive. Even the base price for hamilton tickets before people go nuts reselling them is so high and the fact that you could bring this beautiful production into the homes of everybody for the price of a seven dollar. Disney plus subscription with more musicals. Because i think there's such great content out there that's only available to people that can pay hundreds of dollars in against take their family. That's a great idea. Why aren't they doing that. I mean they did it so they did it with rent but that was a movie version of the staged production. So it's not you know. I want to see the stage productions of the musicals and i don't think it takes away from the musical. I don't think anybody who was planning to see it on. Stage is now thinking. Don't need to. Because i think the beauty of live performances exists. I would absolutely see again even having seen seen it already. And seeing the movie i think making broadway performances accessible to people in that way is something we should do. More of okay. So hot tip. If you've never seen hamilton or are not familiar with sound. I would highly suggest you turn on the subtitles when you watch hamilton. because the singing especially from is it. dvd digs that. His name he digs. It's so fast that sometimes you can't understand what he's saying so you have the subtitles up there. Then you get the point that he's trying to make yeah. I think your first experience taking in all of the information from the show. I really think you need a couple exposures to the soundtrack to really get the whole thing but having the subtitles on while you watch is a great tip. Hey did you see they just cast him as sebastian. In little mermaid you. I'm so excited. Did you have a big ticket. Purchase this year. That you're super glad you bought okay. I do but i'm skirting the line a little bit. It was like last december. Okay all twenty twenty s sleep number bed. I use it every night. It was almost every now. Is it split down the middle so you and your husband have separate numbers. Is that how this works. yes it is. It's amazing. i love it interesting. You and dax shepard with your sleep number bed. So i didn't know they advertise it. I don't know i. I really love it like look. You know all those things that they say like you're in your bed. How many hours in a year your lifetime or whatever We spent a lot of money on this like a stupid amount of money. But i love it. I love the versatility of it when i snore. I can just like adjust it or if my legs her. I can adjust the bottom. I love it. Do you have a big ticket. I don't really had to think about this. I it could be that. I'm about something the one thing that i think that i've spent a lot of money on this year is a new phone and i'm quite pleased with it an eight which didn't even work as a phone anymore. Oh my gosh. I could only use it on speakerphone or with headphones. Like i could not just pick it up and talk into the phone and even my husband. Who's not techy was like. You need a new phone. Especially because this year i've talked on the phone more than ever and the cameras beautiful. It's i have the twelve pro which is slightly smaller than the eight plus but the screen is bigger because it kind of goes edge to edge. And i put a new loopy case on which is my very favorite case in the world and we have a code that will get you ten percent off. That will leave in the show notes. It's really great to have that works. So.

"I do my hair and makeup. And then i put on sweatpants and if i need to leave the house throwing a pair of jeans and it's a quick change. Yes i'm fully ready. I can leave the house change out of my slippers. And my sweats. And i have several pairs of comfy pants. I think the old navy joggers are where it's at a love them come in every color they have kind of an active wear material but i also like their french terry soft and cosies as i just can't wear those because i just don't think they're flattery non flat. That's not my goal so low on the list of rarities house pants stance. Okay so no joke. I have written down here. Pull on pants are okay. So tell me how that's different. Okay so i typically live in jeans. I am so uncomfortable in jeans these days because they come on i have gained the quarantine so my jeans are not comfortable anymore and i don't wanna live in them all day long so i started purchasing pull on pants with elastic waist. Embarrassed to even admit it but like holy hell. They're su- comfortable good player you getting like. Are they like denim pants jeans. No they are cotton. I have to purchase them both from stitch fix. I am a stitch fitch. I am a stitch. How do you say stitch fix subscriber. Wow that's so hard to say anyway. The first one that i really really love is by studio blue. And it's called the emma mid rise jogger. But it's a cotton pants. So it's not like a athletic or pant the other one that i have is by north face and it's called aphrodite. Motion capri that one is more athletic. Wear type. I wear them both all the time. They're my favorite go choose. They're both in black so they're easy to go with anything. I love them. I don't wanna quit them. Yeah so you are wearing the same thing i'm wearing. I mean you're wearing a job or you're just wearing like one step above my old navy jogger. I just look good in a baggy sweat sweatpants. because they're joggers. So they have a tapered ankle. They have a little bit of shape. I don't know. I might have to check them out. You might be convinced me. But i might need to try them on first. And they have a wide waistband. The ones that i have. They don't have like a thin cinched-waist man. You know what i mean. That makes a difference. But look i will tell you that. The goal of my pant wearing is not to look good. I think they're cute. But i don't think anybody's thinking. Damn megan looks good in those. There's nobody thinking that and that's okay. I'm actually wearing jeans now. But i'm wearing like a these are my duri loose fitting jeans. That used to be way too big and now they fixed rate when i go to pull a pair of jeans and my closet. I have to look at the the tag to see which. I'm looking for the fat jeans to put on. I bought myself four christmas. A matching like top and bottom sweatsuit. I'm so excited to open i. It's it's really cute. I'll take a picture okay. So we don't seem like the laziest of the laziest. Well i at this point. What's your favorite way to pass a little time. Do something for yourself. This is real easy. It's i'm in deep watch of Gilmore girls right now and i'm obsessed obsessed. I can't wait to be left alone. So i can turn on gilmore girls and just run away to stars hollow my me time that i wish i had done more of because every single time i sit down to do it i enjoy it. And i've shared this on an absolute podcasts. Before but our art classes with timori. And i need to do more i think. Why don't this more than it's another month before he do. I know it same with me for me. Because i don't want to like set up the stuff because i put away every time after i you will leave a link to timorese classes in the show notes and you can sign up for her patriotic which will give you an between one and three classes per week. And what's been really fun is in the number of years. We've been taking classes with tim. Ray probably five that we've been going there. I've never done a christmas class because we always say we're going to and then the holidays get so busy that finding an evening or an afternoon to go over there is really hard and so now. She's doing all these really adorable holiday paintings. And if i would just set up my station. I could have all the christmas painting. Well what's awesome about it to is. She does livestream it. But you always have access to it so not always but it does expire after several months. I think you don't have to do it at the same time. She's livestreaming the point. I was trained. Yes do you have a favorite book of the year. Okay so early twenty twenty. It was my goal to read. You're gonna laugh two books a month. I know you read two books a day and that fizzled off in like april. Like i just couldn't couldn't wrap my brain around it. So i'm going back to early in twenty twenty of the books that i read. I like to bass and it was probably jessica. Simpson's open book. That was a great one. I went back and looked at my good reeds for the year. Choose that would would definitely make my top ten. That feels like a hundred years ago. That i read that book and it was so funny because as i was reading so many people on the internet. Love that book and in my circle of book reading friends i think it was a great memoir. Did you see. They're making a fictionalized actually show about her life. She got like some major production deal. Choosing a favorite book for me is not something i can do. I read seventy eight bucks this year. I couldn't choose a favorite. I was looking at my list. And i will tell you. I will tell you a book that i've recommended to a lot of people and i really enjoyed and that is the the book called beach. Read and maybe. I should of emily. Henry.

"And wendy at gmail.com. We do read every single one of them and i think megan has one today. I do have one. I would love to share and it's from lemonade. Says hi ladies. I just wanted to let you know how much i look forward to your podcast week. I do not have the hallmark channel but still enjoy the bonus. Christmas of his odes. I can totally relate to your respective perspective and loved the validation you bring. It will be an interesting conversation. When emily in paris season two gets released and yes. But i what needs to happen is wendy has to finish season one. I will maybe maybe thank you very much linda. Those make our day. Yeah speaking of the holidays. Quick little check in sure you doing on your holiday to-do list. Are almost like ninety nine percent. I just need like a couple little odds and ends gift card that i can't get like at the grocery store you know so i have to go out and do like those little things i need to wrap. I have not wrapped one present yet. Not one really want to bake too. But i just haven't found the time during the weekday. It's way too hard not like during the weekday. When i'm home. Because i obviously wanna do with my daughter. I don't want to do it alone right but our weaknesses are so busy right now just with like school staff. And it's like dark at five o'clock. And i have a hard time finding motivation. Once it gets dark. I just want to sit on the couch and watch some tv. So yeah that's where. I'm at where you i am almost dropping also. I just realized. I have totally forgotten teacher gifts because this year is so weird so i need to get on that very quickly but other than that. I only have one other gift together. And it's my brother. And i have drawn a complete blank. I have no idea what to get him and normally might not be like a nice restaurant gift card for brother and his girlfriend in a seems depressing to get link takeout. So maybe you can use this in about six months. I know i know right. I'll get like a door dash gift card. It's i mean there's no novelty in that. So i do not know. I'm drawing a blank. And all the dude gift guides are like grilling gear james applies. It's just a very ep of the same stuff we did wrap. All of the kids gift wrapping is my least favorite holiday activity. Don't enjoy it at all. But i'm glad to have the kid gifts done and i just need to do just about everybody else. Which is a little bit easier. But i just need to do it. That's my goal for the next couple of days to not go into the final week before christmas with wrapping. I want you know my husband's off next week. My kids are all off next week. So we have gingerbread houses baking and i want to just be able to relax and not feel like i have a to do list hanging over my head. That sounds like a to do list already. Though i know but those i agree but those are fun things and we have all of the supplies like we have the gingerbread houses. We have the baking supplies. You know we just have like a day set aside for each of those activities than we lay around the rest of the time question. Do you use give bags for gifts. And so i love a gift bag because it's very convenient. I just love the look of a wrapped gift better so like i'll be honest. Your gift is going to be in a gift flawlessly because well yes and because it's a couple smaller things and i yes. It's going to be in a gift bag. And i know that you're not going to be judging me on. My robbing wouldn't send a gift bag to my mother's house. Because my mom is the ultimate gift rappers. So i feel like i can't do a gift bag where things over there and my husband feels very strongly. It is much more fun to unwrap a gift than it is taken out of the bag so for all the kids. Oh my goodness i. that's that's too much pressure. That is i. I much expectation care more about what's inside as an. Don't you do all the wrapping though. No he does a ton. Okay so he. And i wrapped the kids guests together. He'll wrap all of his family's gifts he's not good at it and he would admit that but i used to care and now i do not because it's done see in my house. I wrap every gift for everybody except for my own gifts which are usually in bags. Now i'm not s- shaming my husband like it. It just is what it is. He hates wrapping gifts but he will put it in a bag and make it look pretty so i always make sure that i have to like save a stack of bags for him when he gets down to the wrapping so he he has something that he can use throughout my gift otherwise it would be an amazon box. So tell me how your mood has been. Are we better mood. No okay well it. Just kind of sneaks in an. I don't know what to do about it. I think this is just me. I think i'm just a grinch. I'm not grungy about the holidays. Oh you're going the holidays. We've done like driving around to look at christmas lights. And i still am looking forward to certain aspects of the holidays and we're watching all of our standard christmas movies and those i still enjoy you know. I said to my husband the other day. I said i am never alone. I really miss being alone. And that's not a comment about how much i love my children or my husband because i enjoy their company. I am the kind of person who functions better alone. If i'm trying to get my own things down and there's a houseful of people. I'm not very productive. Even if you know my kids are ten and thirteen. They're not underfoot. i think other people can relate. It's the constant interruption. It's the milwaukee to the house and local. Where's mommy like they don't actually need me. They just don't see me and they need to know jas gone. you know. Being alone requires leaving the house and leaving. The house isn't really that fun anymore. We'll totally because like going to target used to be like my happy place even just to like walk around and look at things and get a coffee and like that is so not enjoyable. It's so stressful now and And depressing because if you've been in a target lately. The shelves are empty like It's not enjoyable anymore. So i understand. I just think i'm in a place where i just need to power through the next few months i feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel but we just need to get their me too and i've been saying this all along like this is temporary. This is temporary. I know it's been nine months but it's still temporary. We will get our alone time again for a long time. It didn't i see the end. I knew it was temporary but there wasn't an end point you know we didn't really know what the end was going to look like. And i feel so hopeful with vaccine rolling out. I that gives me such a feeling of hope and like we're working towards something and it's not just this nebulous has to end everything. Nothing last forever like there's a concrete endpoint so that's very helpful to me even if yes. We're still months out. It's months it's not the rest of my life. Yeah well as speaking of covid. I know we're not about code. But how do you think What do you think about some of our local restaurants to find the closing orders. I feel torn about that because on the one hand there's no assistance coming for these businesses. And so i think what. I wish people who were out in the streets marching to defy. The orders were doing. Is i would rather they channel that energy and call the representatives and contact people and demand relief for these small businesses. That have been struggling for nine months now. Because i understand how hard it must be to be a small business that is not allowed to operate at one hundred percent. I can't even imagine the stress during the holidays. Especially that will vote on you and at the same time you know. Some people are doing it and they are listening. And i don't envy these small businesses at at the same time..

"It until the end. Okay so wendy. Why don't you read synopsis of christmas. In evergreen christmas and evergreen bells are ringing as michelle's wedding approaches. Hannah steps up to help. Finish the launch of the new evergreen museum while questioning her relationship with elliot watts it. I think they could have done a better job with this. An office. vague. There is so much more going on here which we will talk about. But let's go in order and let's start with our initial impressions of this movie overall leshan when ego. I i was let down. I'm going to just say. I don't know maybe it's because this the fourth one right. So maybe it's because these characters i'm already familiar with and there was no new energy new couple and i was just like okay all right and then i have other problems but yeah that was initially Outlet now yeah so. I need to apologize to wendy. Because when we created the list of movies we were going to review this year. Wendy having no hallmark knowledge at all gave me that job and so i added this to the list because of course it's a fourth evergreen movie. We had to do it. And she said to watch the previous. Three and i said no because typically yes some of the same supporting characters but it's a new love interest. They kind of steal it. You don't know the backstory. you're fine well right. That was not the case. it's movie so poor wendy's like i have nothing to say because i don't know who these were or what is happening. I don't i feel like i turned a movie on an hour after it had already been on like. I had no idea what was happening. Even though they recapped very short recap at the very beginning. It still didn't give me any background this particular movie. The problem with that recap is like i said. Every one of these movies has had. Its own love interest. They could have stood alone. You didn't know anything about the backstory. It wouldn't have mattered. And they brought back some characters but they didn't bring them all back and they did start in the middle of the story. And i feel like that was a failure on the part of hallmark. Because yes you have your die hard fans who are going to have seen all of these movies but you need to be willing ready to bring in the new people and this was not a movie for someone who hasn't watched. Three previous movies are wanted. A new love interest or something but nothing so our next question is your first impression of the main couple now typically in these stories we have one this one..
