It'll be leaving my job on the twenty third and starting my new job on the twenty seventh of this month so it's happening rather quickly going to be a traveling. Roadshow traveling roadshow selling Pierce. Fire trucks in New Hampshire insurance so anyway Cow Hampshire. So I'm fired up guys I've been kind of calm here with announce fired up. I'm fired up because I'm sick and tired of seeing fire departments complaining that they don't have any members or they don't have any help yet at the same time they're not doing doing any effort to keep their good members on their fight apartments and it doesn't just apply to fire departments that applies to all sorts of agencies police fire. EMS regular jobs business. I'm sick and tired of it And I see it all the time on social media. We don't have we don't have help. You see all these stories in the paper for yet. Then you hear people who want to join the fight apartment. But they're turned off to it because they make them jump through ridiculous hoops to get there. Well that and they discriminate against whatever gender you are. I've been hearing stories on that like all your girl. We don't want you on here. which believe it or not? It's still happening. which is bullshit? What still getting me that all out west? Apparently it happened was going to say really shouldn't be shocked but I'm a little shocked. You got professional sessional leaders and when I say professional people that when I mean professional is like the professionals it's a mindset not right employment status they supposedly what they're doing they supposedly have earned to get into position. There at a professional leaders are actually not doing what they're supposed to be doing to keep their employees and their members happy and engaged and empowered uh-huh and they're leaving. You know you see these articles on facebook that are going around. Why good employees leave? Why couldn't I don't know how many of you read it? Read those but you should read them because they're great points and they can be able to firestone. I do when I see those. Some of those are applicable to you know various like we were talking about fire departments Private sector regular jobs. You know full-time Fire Service Volunteer. Fire Service on and on and on you know in all of those leadership lessons are worth reading reading because if we can take something from from outside the fire service that's maybe best practice and apply it in our in our jobs than it's it's definitely not time wasted to read things like that certainly not because all that can be relatable and right down to the books like Jaakko willing books and all the leadership business business books out there. You can totally relate those to the fire service and and our leaders are not doing that. I think our leaders are becoming way too close minded. Maybe it's time they move on. Maybe it's maybe they're just. I've been in the service for too long. I don't know but I'm seeing young leaders. Come in doing the same thing where they're not paying attention to their membership. They're paying attention to their own personal agenda in what they want the Fire Department or the agency to look like in the direction they want it to go in and at the same time. They're not paying attention to what the whole membership wants. They're not letting their membership do work. They're not letting the membership take on projects and they are they're taking projects away from them and taking empowerment away from them and there's no incentive for them to stay right and yeah and it's it it's just baffles my mind how this hasn't clicked yet and how people still don't understand that you can't run a fire department and expect people to show up and do work without letting them have a little bit of freedom and a little bit of empowerment armant and responsibility to take care of something on their own to form that ownership in real in. And what's the word I'm looking for now doesn't even matter. But they're not pride and ownership ownership ownership. They're not getting it because you're not allowing them to you You hit on a on a topic there That it is important to this. And it's that pushing your personal agenda That's a that's a critical That's a critical fault right. There is pushing your personal agenda rather island what you know what's best for me versus what's best for we exactly exactly and they're forgetting about that we they're forgetting the team in the team. Spirit in working as a team because when all things go to shit when we're out of big incident we have to know that we can trust each other and we have to be able to work together to solve the problems that we're here to solve solvent to to Put the fires out in to rescue the people into stop the bleed. We we need to be able to do that. And we need to build a trust everybody and work together as a team. We can't have people showing up as officers chief surges or or regular firemen showing up with their own agendas and their own things that it's the former freelancing when you're not on the same in audience that everybody else not stop and it's frustrating people. It's frustrating the good members who are putting in a lot of work. You're putting in like all of us at this table. Have have a ton of time on the Fire Department and we have put in a ton of work and we're still putting in a ton of work and you have people that are coming in that. Want to do the same thing that we need to give them the same opportunity unity that we had coming in to form that sort of ownership. We need to be doing that to the new members we can't be holding. This is holding it close as this is our fight apartment. You're not gonNA come in here and and take it over. We want them to come in here and take it over. We want them to to learn how to manage and learn how to take ownership and learn how to take on projects and start new things in the look to see what the industry mysteries standards are changing. Bring that in and we have people in this fire service that are not doing that and then allowing. I'm fired up over it. Fired up clearly. Sorry sorry all right so you can go home to show everybody time is valuable. We appreciate you guys coming back and digital. Yeah exactly and I'm sorry I would yell me louder but I lost my voice this last week and it's just now coming back and I want to keep it so I do have three more days of dispatching which I need to need to have dispatched voice. It's not fun it's not. It's not because you have to answer the phone and then talk on the radio and then like literally really no one can hear what you're saying this miserable great and you feel fine like I felt fine. I'm like this is great. I could run a marathon while I couldn't. I haven't run in a long time. But why would anybody any run without being chased. Look happy when they're running. No okay. They've never never whereas if you have ever seen somebody happy when the rain the Donut yes Syria. Yeah he's he's happy right now. which is the pill going? I did Alan Two dozen donuts today. This morning I went out in the frigid cold in got everybody some donuts. So yeah we're if we're feasting on some fat pills this morning fat and happy that is one good thing about living in New England is we do have the dunks dunks. Yes and every corner. Ah every corner except here. I mean there's like one within we got two guys too good for dunks here. Yeah no we can't have. We can't have Dunkin donuts in York because it might look like kittery in God forbid because we're so much.

"To eat, more desserts. You have more options when you do your year in review best desserts of the year lean. All right. Well, so we'll talk about cake life. Then my number four definitely is not on traveling because he was not there. He was on his epic road trip out west. And you know, I had a great time being in New Hampshire and Maine with my mom, and my sister and my other family members, and we went to this place, and I had never heard of called Condon's doughnuts, Cong Dinh's donuts. And it's in wells Maine, and we've been going to Maine every year almost every year since I was a young child, and I had never heard of this Donut. Shop and we stayed at a hotel that was about fifteen minutes from this Donut. Shop and my mom was like, yeah, we have to get donuts warning from Condon's, and I was like, okay never heard of this. She was like seriously can't believe, you know, it's an institution. It's this place. I mean, there's a lineup. There's a huge parking lot. So my sister, Jillian, I drove the fifteen minutes one morning. And I mean, they have people directing traffic almost the parking lot. Was that busy? And it's just like this old classic shop. We got I think twelve doughnuts. And they were fan. I didn't even hear that story. Either hours. Yeah. Yeah. Condon's donuts Sioe someone like you who's you're you are to donuts what I saw. In of donuts we both enjoy each. But I I love love love ice cream way more than the average person. And you love love of Dona way more than the average person. So Condon's doughnuts. Did you have a flavor that you thought? All right. This is this is the one honestly everyone. I was good. They had like a blueberry one. They had an apple fritter. There was delicious. They had a lemon one which I always loved the lemon powdered Donut. And it's hard to find those anymore and violence and Philadelphia used to be my favorite. But then they changed. There's and made it terrible. I mean, just lemon one not all the other ones, which are still amazing. But yeah, we just we got a dozen donuts in. Fortunately, like the day that we got them my whole like, my my brother and his wife and his kids. There was a lot of us at the beach show hard to eat all of the doughnuts. And fortunately, like, my mom and sister, and I didn't eat twelve donuts. But. They're just really good doughnuts. And now every time we go to Maine. I'm gonna make the track because we usually stay in York or a little bit further, south and this Donut. Shop is about like twenty thirty minutes. And there's a lot of traffic up there in the summer. So it could take a longtime right there. The track. Yes, I like that it's thirty minutes away. So you can't go. You know, if we stay in York, we can't go every day. But also because it makes it a little special makes it mission. Like, all right. And usually when you're on vacation, right? The whole thing is getting relaxing and then doing like one thing per day. I think eve, and it doesn't I don't mean productive. I just mean like setting one mission per day. Hey, I'm gonna drive up today. Get Kongdin donuts. Go half hours sightsee a little bit grab some donuts. Come back breaks up the day a little bit. That's perfect. Yeah. And this is something else. That's interesting that the parking lot is huge. And some of it is like roped off for food trucks. I guess are there in the evening or something. But we went in the morning. So we didn't really get to experience that place open in the evening to. I'm not sure that could be good like, you know in Philly. There's place called federal doughnuts run by various steam chef. And they do fry..

"And then on August first with the entire community of Salem petrified. The devil was winning that he was driving deeper into their safe territory. A native American raid struck a bit too close to home. Here's Mary Beth Norton. Once again Bill Rick is only twenty miles away. Now that was the closest attack that I know of to Salem, but remember all these people had relatives in Maine, New Hampshire and the people in Maine, New Hampshire were constantly under threat. Even in the most southern parts of Maine New Hampshire in west now, Portsmouth, which was then call strawberry Bank. What was wells? Maine. There were attacks nearby all the time people felt under constant threat, shall we say? So the attack and Bill Recco was the closest but eventually later in the war actually after sixteen ninety two. There was a big attack on hand over. So it's not as though the war wasn't right there. Ironically, married to arrest saved her life. When the wab Inaki rated Ricca they killed every single resident of the homes on either side of Mary's had she not been in jail. She would have died in the attack. But of course, that didn't mean her life was any safer just because she dodged that bullet. There were plenty more rounds in the chamber, and they were all aimed at her. The man who would do the metaphorical shooting was the newly appointed attorney general for the trial, sir. Thomas Newton if you remember had resigned after convicting Rebecca nurse, and the others taking his place was a newcomer. Anthony, check Lee, and he was ready to get to work the third oil interpreter session. Would begin to days later on August third, and it was the event everyone had been waiting for because they were about to witness something completely unheard of the witchcraft trial of an actual minister of God..

"So I it was nice to have that in and not show is just unbelievable. And then a couple of days later I got to meet Mark Maher her and then outs and breathing out. Welcome me and give me a big hug and marrying while he didn't. How me he's still well, Maine. It was a great experience. Marc Maron not much of a hugger. I don't think so that that stands up to everything. Yeah, maybe with Allison, maybe with Allison, I tried to hug him. Got really awkward. And then we moved on. All right. Well, let's make it more awkward here, Patrick. So yesterday we're batting around ideas for the show and I'm paying attention the sandlot twenty fifth anniversary and and I'm like, I think Puerto would be good. And then sort of the clincher for was we see the story yesterday concerning Shaun Weiss the the actor from Mighty Ducks. He played Goldberg the goaltender and it was, and you see the mug shot from his arrest. It was like a public intoxication deal in northern California, and I'm like, man, all summer. I've seen these guys who are young actor success stories, right? Who worked in the business for decades who are still doing projects and producing roles and so on and so forth. But then you see the other side of that, and I just wonder why you feel like you were able to be a success story, win some of these other failures and just these the way that these people have fallen on hard times who started as child actors just like you did. I mean, honestly, I think it is. It's strong family, good friends. I, it's real. I saw that too. I actually just saw, right, I called you guys. It's a bummer and I. But I do think it's just the how you grow up and I grew up on the east coast. So I think there's certain mentality there that's a little different. And you know, I always stay busy when in other things and you know, have options opened busy and axiom. And I've tried my darndest to stay away from drugs and and alcohols and things like that. And you know, I listen, I had my fun and I still have my fun once in a while, but I think once you start and there's certain drugs that are way drugs and I think once you start, it's really hard to stop. So readily available were drugs out the hall for kids your age. At that.
