Understanding the Severity of the Turkey Earthquake

"This may be according to the Wall Street Journal this morning. Actually, it's The Washington Post. The worst natural disaster in consequences of our lifetime. Because of how it occurred occurred 11 miles below the surface, everything is made of brick, it's got no rebar in it. It all fell down. There are people trapped tens of thousands of people trapped. No way to get serious just to write off. I mean, you can get food maybe over to the turkey border, but you're not going to get the good guys to take the food into Syria, absent armed convoys in turkey. Story in The Wall Street Journal, as the sun went down Tuesday over gurney street, and this is from beland tech turkey, dozens of people, their hands and arms, limbed with ghostly gray dash silently come the wreckage flattened apartment blocks. His male parliament and his wife dug through the rubble looking to find mister carlock's mother in tune they said somewhere under 6 stories of collapse concrete and contorted metal. Next door, Fatima Kumar, hunting the remains of her home for belongings of her two sons. Our earlier, she had found the two boys 11 year old Ahmet in 17 year old Abdullah, dad, cradling one another in the wreckage. The brothers grabbed each other as the welding came down. Numb with shock and grief, the residents of Berlin and other cities towns and villages across southern turkey were contending with freezing temperatures, power outages, and they thought to find the missing and keep themselves alive in the aftermath of two powerful earthquakes that struck Monday. As I said, more than 10,000 people are dead, hundreds of thousands are displaced, tens of thousands are missing. They don't have any help for them, but they do have hope because every few minutes in the search area, it feel like they're now in turkey. They call for a halt to all movements so they can hear Tapping, et cetera the cell phone batteries are dying out. So it's really not a great situation. California knows how to do with earthquakes and we keep our electricity on and the California exploration team has been has landed in turkey now. The Israeli team is there. They've already rescued four people. There are a number of different specialized groups around the world. They're two in the United States. I think one is in New York City and the other one is in LA, but a half dozen train dogs to stiff only for live people they look for cadavers later, different group of people. They know how to move the concrete, but what they can't bring with them is enough food, water, blankets, and essentials, hygiene, personal stuff.

The Bio-Medical Security State With Dr. Aaron Kheriaty

"Examples, doctor Kerry, of what the biomedical security state is. So this is the welding together of three things that used to be distinct. Number one, an increasingly militarized public health apparatus. And I'll talk more in a minute what I mean by that. Number two, the use of digital technologies of surveillance and control to manage entire populations. The vaccine passport is a good example of the use of this during the pandemic that the QR code that you had to show just to get on a plane get on a train go to a restaurant or a social gathering. Get back into your own country of origin. Back in 2018, if you were to hold Americans, we're going to be doing this soon. They would have thought that you were insane. But after a year of the propaganda and the year for the lockdowns, people were willing to do just about anything to get back to a semblance of normal life. But we know that digital technologies were used in much more insidious ways. So for example, back in 2021, Israel passed emergency legislation along with the shin bet, basically their verge, the FBI. To extract without the public's consent track and trace data from their phone to see if they were following lockdown orders or to look at exposures to omicron. Now they at least did that publicly with legislation from people that could be voted out of office. Canada admitted a few months later. That they had been doing the same thing throughout the pandemic, even though Justin Trudeau had promised the public that they wouldn't do so. And their public health had agency admitted they were going to continue doing the same thing on into 2026 using this data for applications beyond COVID. In May of last year, vice broke the story that the CDC was doing the same thing. Again, without the notification or consent of the public, the data was supposedly anonymized, but some researchers from Princeton showed that with only four data points you could actually identify the individual that was associated with this particular cell phone. But they

Kyle Seraphin: Personal Thoughts on How to Fix the FBI

"If you were in charge tomorrow kind of a king for a day like a proffer session but what you say in that proper that's it that's going to be gospel right What would you do to fix the FBI and bring it back to an organization we can all be proud of rather than sadly where we've come through now So I grew up in a household My dad was a marketing guy and there's a point when your brand is so tarnished that you got to rebrand it You got to just shut it down I don't think you could reopen an enron today like no one's going to go into that there And I think the FBI has done a thing that is maybe an insurmountable optical to their brand At least with half this country And so you know given the opportunity I would shut the thing down and I would move people into places where they belong you know potentially even open up just a pure straight law enforcement entity to do it But if we're not going to do that and I don't think there's any political will to do so Breaking off that domestic intelligence mission it has to go away and it can't be part of law enforcement That doesn't mean they can't communicate with law enforcement But you can't have people that were in my job who have a law enforcement oath a badge and a gun and the authorities to go do it You know doing intelligence work domestically It's incredibly dangerous and it's going to lead to overstep And there's something I'm going to leave you with which I think is really powerful I talked to a guy named George Hill the other day former NSA retired FBI analyst So he was an Intel guy And his statement to me is very profound I think it's the problem that we have in one sort of basic sense Before 9 11 the concept of national security meant to continuation of our federal republic and the protection of the constitution as its guiding document And after 9 11 on September 12th 2001 national security meant nobody dies from terrorism in America And that is an unsustainable goal because you end up with the Chinese state of welding people into their house and the padded room and giving them Netflix and giving them Amazon deliveries And then everybody has to just stay home and hide Because you just can't have freedom and overall 100% safety I think it's a really really interesting thing that Americans need to reflect on and decide how much risk are they willing to accept and they've got to accept more if they want freedom

Brandon Herrera Weighs in on the WORST AK Stock

"Two choices for the worst AK stock. AMD 65 Hungary or the under folder. Oh, I am not a huge fan of either. The under folder does have a very classic look. It does, but it's even more uncomfortable to shoot than the AMD. It is, it is. And you better not have a magazine that's bigger than 30 rounds, because you're not going to be able to fold or unfold. Right, or a drum. Right. Right. I'm going to give slight edge to under folder because at least you can get somewhat of a cheek weld on most of them, whereas the AMD is a optimistic chin well. Exactly. It's a helmet world.

The Collapse of the China Model With Jack Posobiec

"Floor is yours, what's going on in China? Look, Charlie, what we're seeing in China now are the largest widespread protests, the largest uprising since Tiananmen Square. Now it's not as large as Tiananmen Square yet, but that remains to be seen because of course authorities have begun cracking down. They're calling it the white paper revolution. And what is very insightful for us here and very interesting for us to look into is that the Biden regime and the World Economic Forum writ large has to be very careful with their response to this because these are anti COVID lockdown protests. That's what started all of this, Charlie. And this past Thursday in the city of urumqi, which is the capital of Xinjiang. Over there, of course, the same Xinjiang province that we've been talking about for a long time with the mass incarceration of Uighurs that's there. Families were burned alive. In one of those towers where they had been welded shut, they couldn't get out 15 floor and above, smoked out, burned out, smoke inhalation, people were killed, screaming, let us out, save us, open the doors, open the doors and let us get out. The firefighters and first responders couldn't even get there because of the amount of COVID barricades. So we actually have a COVID lockdown massacre, okay? COVID lockdown massacre that took place, believe it or not, on Thanksgiving Day. In China, last Thursday, people were dying. The CCP, what was their response? They should have found alternate exits. It was their fault. They should have found ways out. The women, the children, they should have found ways. It's not their fault. It's certainly not the COVID pulp. And so the problem for the regime, Charlie, is that these are the same people that went all in for going after the truckers of Canada, the farmers of the Netherlands and the Patriots of the United States were protesting these lockdown policies going all the way back to 2020 because we were demanding freedom also going against the COVID mandates and all this other insanity that's happened.

Kathy Hochul's 'Shocking' Statement on COVID Lockdowns

"Had a debate between the God willing incoming governor of New York, my buddy Lee zeldin and the current anointed non elected governor Kathy hochul, who was asked about COVID lockdowns. Her answer, shocking, play cut. You've been an election denier, a climate change denier. You and Donald Trump were the masterful COVID deniers. We are dealing with a real crisis. And the more people get vaccinated, get those shots in arms. And I would do it all over again when I did last year that mandate for healthcare workers. So just as New York loses a case and they're told, everybody who's fired, back to work, back pay because it was illegal. Vocal is asked, would you do it again? In Hulk Hogan, lying about my body leaves out and said, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I shut down New York again. When you look at, I know the book deals with government lockdowns and power grabs. Isn't the most frightening thing just in that they're probably going to do it again. Absolutely. And that's why we're kind of using this book as a defense against these. We know that they're going to use these same tactics, whether it's for the next wave of COVID, the Knicks pandemic, or whether boogeyman they have in store probably climate change activism. And look, they're very, very pleased with the majority of the populace, the World Economic Forum just the other week was touting how compliant people were with all these measures and interventions. And they would love to see us all sharing one bike among three households eating insects and getting away from meat, right? This is their dream and to know that they could gladly weld us inside of our apartments and we might not complain is exactly what they're trying to do.

"This Pride Month will manika is brought to you exclusively by Mercedes Benz. Together, we're honoring people who've expanded the norms of gender and sexuality in the performing arts. Mercedes Benz embraces the freedom of individual expression and continues to support and stand with the LGBTQIA+ community. Listen all month long as we share stories of proud individuals whose authentic expression in their lives and bodies of work have challenged norms, driving society forward. Hello. From wonder media network, I'm Jenny Kaplan, and this is will manica. This month we're highlighting queer stars of the stage and screen. Women who expanded the norms of gender and sexuality in front of and behind the curtain or camera. Today we're talking about an African American poet and playwright. Born into a prominent abolitionist family, her work often touched on themes of race and racism. At a time when women were rarely publishing work on the topic. Though she was never able to openly express her sexuality. Much of her writing is coded in queer language. Let's talk about Angelina weld grimke. Angelina was born on February 27th, 1880 in Boston, Massachusetts to an interracial couple. Her mother, Sarah Stanley, was a white woman. Her father, Archibald grimke, was black. The son of a white landowner and a black enslaved woman. Archibald went on to become the second black man to graduate from Harvard Law School and served as the vice president of the NAACP. Racial and gender equality was a goal for many members of Angelina's extended family. Two of her great aunts, Angelina and Sarah grimke, had been notable advocates for the causes of women's rights and abolition. At the time, interracial marriage was rare. Angelina's parents relationship was a fraught one, leading to a turbulent childhood. A few years after her birth, her parents separated and Angelina went with her mother to Michigan. But Archibald really wanted custody over his daughter, and several years later, Angelina returned to live with him. Archibald had impossibly high standards, and often expressed disappointment with Angelina that she hadn't made more of herself. It was around this time that Angelina's mother Sarah died by suicide. Despite his disappointments, Angelina's father ensured that Angelina was educated at the best schools, which often meant mostly if found entirely white schools. In an 1892 class photograph, Angelina is seen holding hands with a classmate. Possibly hinting at her hidden sexuality. In 1894, Archibald was appointed as American consul to the Dominican Republic. Angelina went to Washington D.C. to stay with her uncle Francis, while her father lived abroad. Angelina was a rebellious and angsty teen and clashed with her relatives. Eventually, she was sent to Carlton academy in Minnesota. There, in Minnesota, Angelina wrote some of her first poems. Many of them described a yearning for a female companion. It speculated that the woman often addressed in these pieces was a classmate named Mary Edith kern. In a letter to Mary, Angelina wrote, I know you are too young now to become my wife, but I hope darling that in a few years, you will come to me and be my love, my wife. How my brain whirls how my pulse leaps with joy and madness. When I think of these two words, my wife. Eventually, Angelina returned to Massachusetts, and in 1902, she graduated from the Boston normal school of gymnastics, now a part of wellesley college. After graduating, she moved back to D.C. to teach English. Around that time, at just 23 years old, Angelina vowed never to marry or to have children. She kept that promise. As she settled into her teaching career, she began writing more. Initially, she published several short stories and poems, often containing themes of romance and longing. Though some of her work began to touch on racial themes, too. In 1916, Angelina's play Rachel was produced by the drama committee of the NAACP in Washington, D.C.. The play was a response to the 1915 release of the racist film the birth of a nation. Rachel, likely Angelina's most controversial work was a play about a black woman who's terrified by the cruelties of racism in society and vows to never bring children into the world. The plot paralleled Angelina's own feelings about having children in a racist society. Some critics argued that the play was preaching what they called race suicide. But that was not Angelina's intention. In the playbill of the first production, the play was described as the first attempt to use the stage for race propaganda in order to enlighten the American people, relative to the lamentable condition of the 10 million of colored citizens in this free republic. In 1928, Angelina retired from teaching in order to help care for her aging father. After his death in 1930, she moved to New York City and stopped writing. For nearly 30 years, she lived a reclusive life until her death in 1958 at the age of 78. All month, we're talking about queer stars of stage and screen..

"Just put in wayne you normally commute you tell it so. The other part is that now all of our Cdot cameras are available at as well so you can if You wanna go you know. It says there's a delay at this one thing. You could actually go onto that camera and see okay. Is it really delayed. Or how bad is it. 'cause i might push it and try to go So you know This'll be really helpful. Especially during the snow season you'll be able to suppose conditions or like in areas where you got we driving And of course. We have our snowplough tracker. That's on there too so you can see when the snow plows have been through your area of the you know you gotta a good route drive on and will they alert us to them by names like plowing mcplainface be. The named plows will be on the website yet. It's also got something called a tell me function. I haven't even gone through all the functionality of this tell me function and this is on that new cdot. Travel app allows hands free use. Always a good thing. the apple actually announces upcoming conditions and incidents that you might encounter along your route or in the area. Yeah actually and you can also do audio inputs as well. So that's a good. That's a good feature so you can find out what's going on in this area that little two way communication. They're exactly the other the other audience that we don't get to talk to us is our trucker audience and so there's actually a separate side of the website that is all for truckers so it will tell them what weight restrictions with restrictions. If there's you know a trucker trying to get a detour and it tries to send it up. Independence path and the apple. Tell you a new. You don't wanna go that way. So wouldn't armed. Yeah so this is. It's really cool. We've got a lot of good feedback from our trucking audience They they are a huge component of what we do and and outreach that we try to get to so the fact that we can actually tailor this them is fantastic and for the regular audience. Just doesn't care about a weight restriction or with restrictions We'd you can have. It is a completely separate peace so Yours is a lot more team as it were there. You go all right one. Ask you about this. Came cross this piece in his west by ken. Asmundsson just popped up at twelve thirty five eighty m Saying that cdot has filed this eminent domain action in weld county district court seeking to gain title to property along with easement says it continues to expand twenty-five in northern colorado. Now the action that was filed apparently is against i twenty five gateway center. Lc r. m. e. petroleum company and r. m. e. land corporation. Along with the town of johnstown. Which may have the easement in the area of the properties in question are at i twenty five and highway sixty. What can you tell us about that so. I don't know a whole lot of the details. Because i. I kinda got cute into this yesterday. But i will tell you when we when we go to look at acquiring property for a right of way when we're expanding roadway like we're doing right now so give you a little bit of the process. So essentially what happens is the first step. Is we do a an assessment and tell them what we believe. The property is worth they then can go get another assessment which we paid for To see if there might be a You know there's things that we missed and then we bring those two together and basically say here's this. Here's this now. Sometimes that process can take awhile and the the you know if we have not heard from them for a while or whatever. And i'm not saying that particularly happened in this incident incident but it does happen quite a bit where they will fit on it for almost a year And then back and say wait actually should be this much. Well it got valued that much because of the year later down the road and so that's part of those things that have to get figured out and that kind of comes out the eminent domain discussions in so we. We try to avoid eminent domain. Which is us being able to go in and basically take it and pay them. Wh what is fair value We try to avoid that. In fact i would say probably ninety nine point nine percent of our acquisitions are dealt with very happily in and all that but when you can't come to an arrangement basically we have to kind of go okay. Let's let somebody else look at this and figure it out and that's really what the imminent domain process is all about letting the courts kind of come in and say this is actually what that value should be and then we all come to an agreement and that's where it goes all right now not to get contentious here but when i deserve this morning got a text from someone who does live in johnstown saying gee it would have been nice if the town of johnstown major excuse me. Local contributor funding for i twenty five would have been told by c. dot that it was going to be sued. Uh this is all very very well known by the way All of this comes. They knew all of this because this was actually in Before we can go to any eminent domain that has to get approved by the transportation commission which was done last month. So they've they've been in the process from the very beginning. All of these folks have been through this process in the beginning and and a lot of people actually just prefer to do it this way and then let the courts figure out what that what that value should be. So i guarantee you. It was not a surprise to any of the landowners. What's that much let's see. And that's why we love to have jared files cdot region caissons manager on so that we can Dispel any questions or any ambiguity says the case may be but apparently the parcels that are now in question and follow the bouncing ball. Here with me are in. The vicinity of properties sought in eminent domain proceedings filed back in march in those cases the court gave cdot immediate access to the properties and well it seems as though all parties involved are still dithering over valuations and and that happens with a lot of our process as that know. And that's really that's why you have your day in court and that's how that all works out so it's still it can still be getting figured out for a while. That's that's part of our regular right away process now again. I don't know about these specific right parcels. And all of that. So i'm i'm kinda talking in generalities more than anything else. So it could be called eminent domain light and i mean eminent domain is very rarely used. I mean honestly are it's it's usually comes down to a right of way acquisition And some of that is Areas that we just need a route to get to a road for during construction so we only temporarily and then he goes back to landowner so there are different ways that we acquire property during that time but Really this is. It's it's kind of the last line of defense but a lot of times that's where the landowner wants to be because they don't trust anybody else and they're going to let the courts decide perfectly fine..

Dr Michael Greger: The Power of Citrus

"To nutrition facts. I'm your host. Dr michael gregor. Today we discover the powerful properties of citrus title. Lemons limes citrons bitter orange grapefruit palmilla mandarin grapefruits on come klotz actually one of my favorite citrus fruits is the come quat because you can eat the whole fruit peel. And all which is ideal because the dna repairing enzyme boosting powers of citrus concentrated in the piel new data demonstrating dna. Protective agent was presently some fruits and vegetables found that it was heat sensitive and determined. It was not vitamin c confirmed in a study that tried vitamin c. Directly and found no effect on dna protection and repair of dna strand breaks the crinoid beta crypt azan. Thin found primarily citrus. Seems at least one candidate. If you expose cells to mutagenic chemical you can cause physical breaks in the strands of dna but in less than an hour. Our dna repair enzymes can weld most of our dna back together but if you add some of that citrus fido nutrient you can effectively double the speed at which dna is repaired but zoologist cells in a petri dish. What about in a person if you have people drink a glass of orange juice and draw their blood. Two hours later the dna damage you can induce with an oxidising chemical drops whereas if they just had like orange kool-aid didn't help so do people eat more fruit. Walk around with less dna damage. Yes particularly women. Does this actually translate into lower cancer rates. It appears so citrus alone associated with a ten percent reduction in odds of breast cancer

"Our text line nine seven zero four seven eight one three zero one nine seven zero four seven eight one three zero one joining me. Now up on hotline. Let's see see how that phone connection works today. It's mark kanoute's in mark how you this morning. I'm well how are you good. I love it. You santa crystal clear to mark. I thought i was going to switch your phone carriers. I already did that. One hopefully i. I don't know. I got no explanation will. Let's get into it mark kelly. We don't have any explanations for why the rockies are so bad on the road they are picking it up though at home. They've of got the padres numbers this year. Yeah it's really weird. You look at the season. You i gotta play the padre seventeen times dodger seventy times those were company losses and then they turn around they win the series and the padres. So that's what butt-black likes these the term. That's baseball and it is. That's why you don't play the games on paper at that. My friends while. I'm not a gambling because we know what's supposed to happen but how often does what's supposed to happen actually happen so That's why we play the game. Yeah so they get out they get a sweep of the padres and eleven games back. I believe of the wildcard spot Already so i saw some people on on social media saying well. How far back were they back in. Two thousand seven. How when they went on. That run is. Do you see something like that as a possibility for this team. No i just. Don't i mean i i again. I don't think there's roster built to be a playoff team. I think you've got a lot of guys. I said this before the season when i picked win seventy three games. And everybody's saying they're gonna lose one hundred games. There's no they won't lose under games for two reasons one. There's a lot of bad teams nationally that they're gonna be playing against which has proven to be true and to you. Got a lot of guys trying to prove themselves. You've got guys who hungry This is their first opportunity to play full-time. And they're they're not gonna inadequate they're not gonna give up they're gonna stretch out the whole season and play hard till the very end and i think that's what we're seeing other guys put forth a lot of extreme effort especially at home To try to prove themselves to get you know long term situations in the big leagues. i'm i'm confident. They're gonna win that. I think seventy three still number. I can get there. They're about fifty five right now Got five six weeks left in the season. A lot of a lot of road games left that are winnable. They played arizona and they go cubs after this home stand They're gonna win more than fifty games home and you know they're going to that seventy three one mark. They just i mean i. It makes no sense forty-one at home fourteen and forty five on the road So let's say you just were just became the general manager of the car at iraqis congrats on your promotion Mark but what. Where do you go. I hear what are some key pieces. You've seen come along that have been consistent after you say you're staying That's a tough question. I though. I don't know that there's anybody on this team. You say well that guys gotta go like last year. Daniel murphy died like that old. The kind of excess weight older guys and they don't have too many of those right now we talked about. Cj cronin how they it'd be nice if they could resign him. That would be a integral movie for at least for another year or two. But i think you have a lot of guys that you want to have in the mix next year in terms of roster spots you want but you want to add to it but you don't add to it the way. They're doing it with brian. Berg who's gonna sign and the biggest free agent names. I could find i again. My i if i would be to add a clogged high-quality analytics department. I would look at tampa bay and try to take somebody from the tampa bay staff make assistant. Gm and say shows how you build analytic your analytics part where you can compete with big market teams with a small payroll. Because that's what the rockies want to do so tampa does it the right way It's proven to the world series I just think that guy i move. And then you see how the guys existing rosters fit into that mold and put into the analytics evaluation process. It's been so successful her tampa. We're talking about the marcotte's Major league pitcher for the rockies and author the three-strikes blog hunt thirteen ten k. k. dot com. And you look at guys like connor. Show i mean they. They're he's going on tear right now similar to what we saw from her male tabby earlier in the year. But now tapa has kinda cooled off a little bit like counter joel. You bring him back like it's he. Is he going to be an integral part of your plan going forward. What else happy hurt. So that's i gave conor joey opportunity to get in the lineup. He's a twenty nine year old guy who hasn't had obviously know about his. They'll help district hasn't had much of a chance to plan a regular basis. So he's obviously you watch him. He's he's playing with a lot of fervor and a lot of enjoyment and it's going to watch him play Kennedy sustained over the long haul. I don't know that you can figure that out in the rest of this season I i i'm not one hundred percents tapa either. I think he's another guy. That is a nice piece but he in everyday player on a on a contending team. That's how i look at the roster. How many of these guys are everyday players on a contending team. Not that many So you need to be upgrades either performance or and Just go get somebody better during the off season and right now the rockies evaluation processes and very good if they brought in somebody from tampa to help then i'd have more so somebody saying yeah joe. Is my guy going forward based on this. is this Do right now tiger with mark canoes in here So let's look around the rest of baseball. I mean the atlanta braves might be the hottest team in baseball right now. Very good team and what they're doing now is what we kinda expect. Zoo all year Hits the cycle last night atlanta the rocky still have a trip to atlanta. Atlanta comes in here. So i'm still six games with atlanta. That'll be fun to watch. The rockies can have a say so in who makes the playoffs based on wildcard situations with padres in the dodgers and everybody else so Yeah it'll be fun to watch atlanta atlanta's a good team good organization that got the right way and You know they've overcome some injuries to. So they're they're very good team and it'll be fun to watch community coors field. Yeah who is so right now as we sit here on august nineteenth mark. Who's your pick to be playing for the world series. Before the season started i picked the yankees and the padres putting the world series I don't think the padres injuries have just hammered. That point where they're not going to get there but the yankees are red hot right now to you mentioned atlanta the yankees are playing like the yankees based on what happened in two thousand twenty with the pandemic and so many teams lost so much money This was a year that setup well for big market teams teams that could absorb that kind of financial hit and continue to make their team. Better baseball doesn't need a salary cap. And now we're hearing about that right now about salary floors now. He kept ball. It's not gonna happen Baseball's neither salary cap competitive ballots and baseball is better than the other sports but this particular year is a year for big market team. So i i. I'm gonna stay with the yankees yankees gonna win the american league and I i'm not sure about the nationally. The dodgers are obviously team. That wants to watch the giants. I don't know how the giants are doing it. I really thought they're doing. It was spoken. mares. I don't get it when johnny cueto pitching the wouldn't intervention. There's something weird going on. Because he's done he's over but they goes on young young arms. They do really well san francisco as well so I guess i would be shocked if it was the giants You atlanta's going to be in that mix Obviously milwaukee brewers mild team. They're playing really well. Their kitchen has been outstanding. Right so I i guess the yankee probably lean to yankees. Maybe the brewers at this point. Yeah you know. And i think the braves Try to do without a kuna. I think that's going to be a really tough task. Was he was in the running for for the nl. Mvp along the way there as well But you mentioned a I disagree with you on the salary cap thing but i do agree with you that this year has set up because you saw the buyers of the deadline you saw the yankees Go out and get joey gallon. Go out and get get these guys. That are just going to be key. Contributors along the way The giants going at kris bryant. There's just a lot of big market teams that were buyers at the deadline and yet campus still winning the american league east You and and oakland stories things. So hats off to those organizations. They figured out how to do it doesn't that's why you don't need a salary cap great competitive balance and baseball as it is but you do need a salary floor so team because Teams are not spending if they don't have to. It's funny before. I mentioned i'm selling to do interview with tony clark here. The next couple of weeks. Tony clark director of the major league baseball players. He's the one the point man for the players in these collective bargaining negotiations can do one one here in the next couple of weeks. I really important that A lot of good information there and I'll get that out on on the internet and we'll go from there but Don't ever look for baseball cap. Parents just never going to happen strong baseball alexa sabotage their own. Game too but Nonetheless markelle what do you got any three-strikes football this week. Just talk broncos. Just make mica happy On broncos broncos broncos and wondering what george peyton and victims you have to do to keep their jobs remember. There's going to be a new owner next year. Owners tend to want to bring in their own people. So what are those guys. Have to do with the broncos have do for those guys to make Make a case to keep their jobs out this season. Also wonder what peyton peyton manning's going to end up a lot of people won't pay maybe the commissioner of the nfl after great speeches the hall of fame but The owners aren't gonna bring a player in the former. Be the commissioner but where will pay end up. That's a good question to. Yeah no i like it and and Looking forward to that you can find that. Thirteen ten k. Dot com mark. Jennifer Lawrence to Play Talent Agent Sue Mengers in Biopic

"Big movie coming out. I know a lot of people have problems with her. I don't. I like the girls work, and I think she's gonna do a great job. Big project about the famed talent agent Sue mengers is being shot around and on the movie will be Jennifer Lawrence playing Sue mengers, listen, this is gonna be, I think this is I know it's very Hollywood and only people in Hollywood my nose Sue mengers is, but nonsense. Sue mengers was, I mean, forget what a colorful character she was. She was a female agent who crashed the Hollywood boys club of being age of being an agent. I mean, there were no female agents like this. She, I know it's for Robert Evans. She was amazing. Big, big, giant personality. Big kind of a New York Jew personality, which I love. I feel at home with people like that. Might go on Apple and might go on Netflix. No one really knows just yet. But Sue mengers, Evans had some great stories about her. She worked at MCA. Icm. William Morris, she represented clients in their heyday. "Of county commissioners and our local health department will continue to expect citizens in weld county to make wise choices for their own health and Obviously you know where. I stand on all that stuff. I don't think it's my job as a sheriff to go out and enforce public health borders. And so we're going to hope that citizens do what's best buy them and and You know just work through it as we have Last year and a half that. I wish my two weeks of vacation time got extended as because that would be. That would be pretty. Nice talking with sheriff. Steve reams the other issue that we're starting to see a a pop up a lot is the mandate of people requiring to get the vaccine to work for a certain industry or certain company will the weld county sheriff's office be enforcing that anytime soon. We will not You know there was a story that came out from Denver please denver sheriff's office that they were going to start requiring their folks to get vaccinated..

"Right welcome back in. We just got a couple of minutes left. I had no idea what i was going to do this morning. But i love it. We've set up. We set up a competition here. Welcome in to this. Is the weld county fair. I'm tanner trump bryant. Gerry our expert Meet cut analyst here. This morning expert carnivore. Yes okay. what we have set up here is that they've got to boards with the anatomy of lamb anatomy of a pig setup. Colton is eleven years old coming into this thing. The twelve my bad cold my donald golden said. He was a little nervous before this one. We've got a big match today against shelby. The queen of the weld county fair. When i say go we're gonna have a race to see who can do it. Don't be don't we say okay on your marks get set go all right off right away. This is good competition shelby. Already dropped some of the cuts of her animal onto the ground and they have to be within the lines they do colons colons look and he's like is that in the right spot he's moving it not just adjusted them back up. She had a little trouble with the line. That she's she's a head that i don't know. Is that leg within the lines though. That's what we're going to have to score on that called. And i've seen a button i've never seen one there that oh colton. Is he folded under the pressure. The pressure is getting to him. He's holding gonna have to go behind. You gotta get going here. I'll look at her. Go down to three cuts. Did she drop one. Where's the other one around the floor. The league is not imposition. The judges have just informed me. That leg is not quite position. it's just. I don't know how to adjust and she's in time is right would we. We had a couple there. I see a correct animal dung by our queen as well colton in all seriousness. Colton had many more cuts to put right. There are many more cuts on a hog. There isn't land and there is a lamb and rate job. All he had left was was the neck. The snout the ear. He was trying to stick a hawk on the on. The snout part. And i it was kind of franken. I will tell you what colin you come back next year. We'll have it again. We'll get you can bring shelby back. We'll have the rematch. Everybody's going to we'll pay per view it. That was well done well. I'll bet you guys that was awesome. Well done colton. I gotta give shout out there. Combed bring that frisbee back. We'll play catch afterwards. Okay that'll work. Has county fair here. Today rely again We do want to get to this here before we take a break before we wrap up the show rather Let's go ahead and get to the know now. Week in review chris binary director reporting for nine news. I think we're getting close to that point. Honestly right now with dumb people in public health healthier. So they're asking that question is it going is it just an essence endemic is. It's going to be around for a long time. We just have to come up with ways on how to deal with it. And i think that's an interesting point because we're not gonna get to the point you know. Remember all the talk about herd immunity and getting to the point of unity. I think hurt him unique. Wait you are racist from the face of the planet not going to happen to learn to live with the and what does that look like. It is sitting really mayor. John gates here. People reported vip guests or upper reelection. This november cou city council members have disclosed that they are not running so there be two new members to city council and could be more depending on what voters think about Reelecting me and then re-electing brett payton in a separate war so could be what will turn over. Could be a lot. And that'll be the handsome voters. But but i'm certainly to continuing on knowing that There is an end date. And i appreciate that there is all. There's a time that all wanna step aside. But that is not right. Now windsor mayor. Paul renna meyer joining us with a big Big win for windsor Winner they're in full full scale operations out there it we we've had Studies done to show that it should produce about sixteen million dollars in sales tax revenue To the town as well as you know property taxes and other things. So i mean obviously the government That's a huge opportunity for us. But you know again. It's similar to our concerts in the park and our farmers market at our boardwalk park. You know we have several different things. That are engaged to bring people to windsor to have windsor regional. Draw mike freeman. The weld county commissioner. I have not had any conversations with the governor. And i you know i think that I think it'd be really difficult at this point for him to go back and reverse course You know he pulled back all these executive orders we all know. It's all about politics. Obviously two days before the all star game you had to get everything off so that he could actually fill a stadium for the all star game I just don't seem going back to mandate i think he is actually gonna start doing a little bit. What will county did and say you know what personal responsibility did hear him Just the other day that he was not planning on on on mandate going back to school. He's gonna leave it up to individual school district which guess what got the right thing to do with. Hope he sticks to what he's saying. That was the nocona week in review the last junior deputy. Mike freeman the commissioner swinging by as always brian. Thank you so much man. This is a this is a blast down here. I know we're going to kind of wander around after this and check some of the animals out things of that nature but that was that was a lot of fun. I had a great time. Thanks for inviting me. Tanner as always. I give you a lot of grief but i absolutely love being on the team with you and this was our first broadcast together and i hope there's many many more. There's no doubt there will be. There's no doubt about it. Thanks to everybody who joined us today. We got to give a shout out to brady whole. Oh bright and seriously to step in when we were having technical difficulty. No-one a true pro. My apron i mean had no preparation nothing like that. He jumps on and take time out of his own. "Ogm akin to noko now here on this friday. We're setting up some cool. We're gonna have a competition going on the gentleman that was putting the The the cuts of meat back in there. He came back around. And we're gonna set up a competition between him and the weld county fair weld county fair queen shelby here in just a minute to see who's gonna faster. Let's introduce shelby. Thanks for being here. Are you going to beat against that. He's eleven years twelve probably but he's already up there studying so i don't think that's entirely fair but nobody said life was fair. No this is cheat to win has been my motto through life. Pretty far too. It has worked. Well go so. I'm just shall we treat. I'm serving as twenty twenty twenty twenty one welcoming fair queen. Congratulations on the arm wrestling contests that look like a lot. I love it. I love it all right if i could tell you why. She's a norwegian as well. No girl yeah all right. I didn't think we were going to get a fist-bump for being norwegian today. But club. He's one of them. He's not in the viking club. Now not now. I know german. I'm like way to chairman. I'm twenty five percent german tanner's vintages what name should we use it. As a w still. No i understand my i have married to german. Yeah great people. I mean yeah. Let's not clear history. Learn to adapt all right. Let's let's talk about your ancestry here. Let's go ahead. So what got you into this. You're from johnstown originally right and now you're over at cs you got you so excited to be a part of the world county fair. You know what. I'm going to be the damn queen well so starting now you can join for h. when you're eight a full fledged member but you can still be a clover. Bud one. you're five years old. So he can clover bud from five to eight then become a full on for each member from eight to eighteen and when i turned eight. My dad's like hey. We're going to get you involved in this thing that i did when i was a kid. I'm like okay. Bye okay i guess. I'll come and i went to a couple of meetings and like okay this this. They're kind of weird. But i mean i guess for people are kind of cool and then a few years later when i was sixteen i went on the cw after. Which is the seat citizenship washington focus and we folk we fundraise for three years and with that money. We go take a fourteen day long trip out to washington d. c. and new jersey. And all those places out there just to really get that history and learn about basically the founding of our country and all that amazing stuff and just on that trip with about thirty other four h. Kids on my little excursion. And i'm thinking well i actually really really cool like. They're not that weird. As i used to think they have stuff going on year round. That's actually really interesting. And i want to get more involved very year. I decided to run for welcoming royalty and i didn't get my first year but then i tried again the next year and i received the title of the twenty one thousand nine hundred while kind of fair attendant which is basically the same role as ellen. Emerson that right. They have this year and then i ran again and i got queen and then with covert i got my queen year relapse. So are you the first code world kennedy fair queen. Well i'm not technically a college student. Yes graduated from roosevelt high school in two thousand twenty. In the summer. I have to say on july eighteenth i graduated for sure is wonderful grabbers very next day. Actually i was elected. Serve on the to twenty twenty Colorado ffa state officer team as the state secretary on that as well thank you. Yeah so then. I took a year off college to serve as that position and working fulltime job at a legal office and so now this year. I have all my classes ready and ready to study neuroscience night business yes uses fall. Roosevelt ahead always had a great ffa program as well out there. Graduating apply valley. We know fence had the best one of the state but roosevelt was always a very strong program. Reservoir mr hopkins. He's been the adviser there. I think coming up on twenty two years constantly these. He's one of the most amazing advisors ever. He's helped me out so many ways. He's advisors are a different breed. That is for sure that is absolutely for sure. So did you show it all this year. Yes so i exhibited some projects into the not lon- livestock portions exhibited a leather working project. A roche not crochet a clothing construction and a drying picture. I got reserved grand champions with clothing construction and leather crafting. So that's pretty exciting. Very i might look a little bit different than the other two girls today. 'cause i've been waiting my pigs in all morning. I have three pigs this year too. Didn't make way unfortunately at the last minute. But i have one spot that i'll be showing tomorrow so i'm pretty excited about that. You know that's going to be so one of the questions that everybody asks me is like when he had a pet really at that point. Was it hard. When he knew the inevitable end for them was going to be. How do you deal with that. I mean my the thing that i've always said if you're not crying at the end you didn't do all right. That's good i cry every radio show. Id so that we're cry. During that's how he feels is two hours. Take a lot of crying. So you're going to see as you neuroscience What the hell is this. Thank you brian. Science is basically the study of the chemicals in the brain. So i wanted. I got a project with this one project. She's rover hands waiting for the evil scientists laughter coming from toby over there. Lv my senior project is like totally game. Yeah so basically. I'll be studying neuroscience learning about what makes up your brain essentially and that's just fascinates me because it looks like noodles. Doesn't it like it's just like what is this. But it controls every single action you ever take every member you'll ever have just everything in the first time that i really became passionate about neuroscience was when i went to the issue of physics expose and i held a brain there for the first time and i was just thinking like i have this brain in my hand because they had this anatomy portion of this little shop of physics and like this was somebody's entire life every memory every reminiscent of an action. Every emotion is sitting here in my hands within the neurons in this brain like that.

Yeah i saw them all with these junior badges on it. I thought wow you guys are really moved on. They're looking for a job. That doesn't involve a whole lot of public feedback. I think is what they're looking for. What do you put junior in front of something. You don't get as much you know. Hey i have read some of the heat mail that they've got they've shared. Oh i thought mine was bad. I mean there are people out there that just it's it's disturbing it is and you justify while you never hear me talk about politics. No i know. It's a great discussion hats off to everybody who is in. That represents us and you know agree with them disagree with them. "Let's let's remove her and let somebody else come in. But my hunch is a somebody did have an idea of some of this and maybe not but the money was just too big. The money was big and it wasn't just from her. I do think that people in gymnastics man. We learned that. It's kind of a sketchy thing right. There's a lot going into it That we don't even can't even fathom but she's had a horrific past and so i think that this idea for us to say she let down. The country is really. That's disappointing to me. I suppose because we just don't know and i've had people say well. She was a doctor and she was going through this and then somebody died on the table. She was in the military. Will guess what she's not. She didn't choose that profession. She's in gymnastics. I say this on my show all the time and floors people. I know but the minute you compare sports to anything else. That's not sports. You lose me because sports is a luxury. Yes if you're that. God given your that god given athletic ability and you go use it to play sports. You're playing a game. It's different than anything else that we talk about than than us who gets up every day and goes to work and does a regular job. Yeah we have to be mentally prepared. We have to go work. We can't just not get a paycheck. Right yes i get that but this is different. She has that luxury. She has the luxury of saying. I can't compete right now. I have to check in with my mental health. Okay not everybody. Has that luxury. She does so let her do her thing at this point. All right Thirty three minutes after the hour. We're gonna take a short break. One of my guests Apparently lives close enough to the studio so that he is going to pop on over here and he'll be here at some point in the next hour to talk to me. We are going to talk about. Weld county wyoming. Yes i know many of you out there. Going to grown i was at. We talked about this a little bit on monday. When i came on with gail but i was at the weld county. Gop lincoln day. Dinner sunday night in kings burke and the keynote speaker was john caldera from the independence institute and the speech that he gave. I was a little bit different than what most people expected to hear. You know when there has been attempts to recall the governor. The independence institute has stayed out of it and not give an opinion when there was an attempt to secede from the state of colorado and Take weld county into its own state with several other counties back in i think twenty thirteen. Two thousand fourteen The independence institute couldn't get behind that And so the effort to move weld county into wyoming pretty much. Everybody kind of thought. The independence institute and or john caldera. I should say not the independence institute. But john caldera was going to stay out of that as well however he surprised everybody at the well county. Gop party and Went the exact opposite direction. And he compared weld county's relationship with the governor and the state legislature to the relationship the bad relationship between a couple and bad breakup and told weld county that it might be time for them to actually break up with the state and start pursuing wyoming And it was interesting because what many people go to the dinner that night did not realize was that in addition to the announced speakers 'cause hiding gone also. You regent was a guest speaker. As was the state. Gop chairwoman christie burton brown and then john caldera course was the keynote speaker but in between all those there was a surprise speaker in wyoming gordon. Wyoming governor mark. Gordon showed up and it was funny because i was talking to Gordon's detail while gordon was in having dinner and and everything..

I was having a conversation with a co worker. Just a couple minutes ago talking about this. Say why do they even play the anthem Well that's because you know. I it represents it. It's pretty cool. We live in a country where we can all gather for something so minute as sporting event will get back into that conversation joining us. Now welcome commissioner chairman steam commissioner. Eight million from the federal emergency Rental system program in january. And we keep trying to Helping the positive way as we can. We can move with the county forward. Well i in. That's that's where we're going. We're moving forward. And i love that. We're having these conversations Wanna talk to you. Real quick steve about the oil industry The oil and gas industry which is so critical here in northern colorado. When especially in weld county. Where do you see that at What numbers you see in there in a little bit of more of an uptick coming back in weld county. That's a great question to be asked. Especially because that is a big part of the revenue source here for this county in one state to be included With what The funds from the severance tax and everything else supporting others outside of this county. But it has been very slow as you said We did just get a report here and this report is six out to Shows that we have eighteen thousand or eighty two active wells in the county and As far as barrels of oil from Well county With that same day. Three thousand thirty nine million million nine hundred ninety seven hundred fifty five barrels of oil out of this county and as far as the gas production here fifty four million zero to twenty three or four ninety three. "Organizers. Have pledged the games will be safe from the pandemic. they also say they'll be environmentally friendly. Npr's anthony kuhn takes a closer look at that claim last month. Grandiose music's welded a ceremony to unveil symbols of olympic sustainability when simple comes courtesy of olympic sponsor procter and gamble stanislav vesa. Ceo of png's. Japan subsidiary introduced the podiums on which athletes will get their medals. The tokyo atlanta twenty podiums are made for use plastic packages directly collected by consumers and then recycled even the gold silver and bronze part of the symbolism. They'll be extracted from recycled cell phones and other gadgets to make the athletes medals but some analysts say the symbolism of sustainability exaggerates the reality unfortunately the data show that stability in all dimensions is decreasing over time from nineteen ninety. Two to twenty twenty. That's fan daniel wolf. At the university of lausanne switzerland he co authored. A study of the sustainability of recent olympic games wolf define sustainable as having limited ecological impact promoting social justice and being economically efficient. These goals he says tend to take a back seat to the ambition to put on dazzling mega events but wolf and some environmental groups. Do give olympic organizers credit for at least trying. Monaco konishi is the climate and energy project leader at wwf japan. She praises the games energy plan. So the extra electricity that is required for the tokyo olympic will be one hundred percent renewable energy and that could be a very good role model for the future olympics. The games will of course still produce carbon emissions. But she says the organizers have already secured more than enough carbon credits to try to offset the greenhouse gases. The games

I'm so much is happening with twitch and with icr just your general success in the pike well we jump into all of that. I'd like to bring up. You know you've been in the poker world for a very long time in the nicest possible way you know. What do you think is allowed to be successful from that stage through still playing the begins now still having success now when no most everyone from the area's arison have moved out of the poco weld. What do you think the difference was. And what set. Jenny bean link. You know there's been a lot of ups and downs in poker in. I've i've fallen in pretty much every that that you can fall into when people ask me why survived when other people. Haven't i think it comes with a lot of things. I think it comes from the fact that i learned in the very beginning to put a system to the game to treat it like a business and to approach studying with a certain kind of intensity and i think that that ability to treat the game like a business is what helped me in the beginning but a lot of people did that right. I think what else helped me was. Just that like men. I like it the the pastor you know. I think that that's another thing i think. I just have a certain kind of stubbornness in increasing this Maybe i know if it's craziness exactly. But i do think to play at the highest stakes. Like i do that. You have to be of a certain kind of temperament

"And this is china if you listen to a podcast about how. Australia's relationship with china came to the verge of collapse. China's obsession with steel has led them to do incredible things but it's also led to spectacular waste fifty empty cities as many as sixty four million empty apartments highways airports schools all virtually empty waiting for people who might never come. This obsession for building for growth for catching up to the rest of the world was lit in nineteen fifties china and has burned to the stack paying off massively for australia. China's insatiable need for iron ore has kept our economy strong at times when the rest of the world is full into position. But can it last. This is my place. The reason we're here is this is my bookshelf. And this book here is the one we are here to look at. This is very very old encyclopedia. Britannica will atlas from sixty seventy years ago. It's fairly out of date for example Russia isn't in it but check this out right at the back of the book. There's this section which provides info about every country in the world including sod coding. To diner in his book the entire country of china was generating a bad enough electricity. H chinese person to have one lightbulb on for half an hour each time there were sixteen thousand cars in the whole country. this was a nation of peasants. Ninety percent of the population lived in rural areas and mao zedong sorrel. This and decided it had to change. I've hundred million peasants. Asian and during obedient china ford the ranks of great nations by industrializing. It in fifteen years. It took britain about one hundred years but he was going to do it in fifteen. This was the beginning of china's first foray into steel production. It was possibly the worst idea anyone has ever had mao called it. The great leap food on other nations have done with time and money and machines they decide. China will do with the sheer weight of manpower. This daca was my by nbc. Nine hundred sixty two doing the great leap forward it shows footage of peasants. Marching wing fields. Relentlessly working has worked for the government. They are told their loyalty is to. The government now declared all land to be the property of the community in not individual farmers. Some of the food they farmed would be kept eating. The wrist sold internationally to by industrial equipment from their labor mall to squeeze the food to feed china capital to buy machines to industrialize china. They are to bear the cost of trying to make china. Great again and inbetween. Harvesting people were told to make steel. Ten million peasants make steel in their spare time and backyard blast furnaces production quotas hand railings and kitchen. Utensils are melted down. The chinese obsession with steel production had begun though the stuff though making was mostly useless. Scrap always nearby is the voice of the party. Ceaselessly urging them driving them to work harder produce more the plane was catastrophically bad. One of the biggest problems was that part of mouse plan was to leave the whole thing up to local officials with beijing. Making it clear. They correze dependent on it so local officials falsified the numbers to make. It seem like feeling quotas. When they weren't they couldn't fake the amount of food they were sending to the central government to be exported so they overstated how much food they were feeding their workers all over the country for the good of.

And i'd love to have you start us off with a little bit of background. How did you come to work in the field. Yeah i grew up in california. Actually although my name looks german. And i live in germany. I'm actually american. And i was raised by a research psychologist. My mom who said now retired professor and a surgeon and i was always fascinated by how things work and i wanted to create technology. Head helped people. I also did a lot of art. And i like riding ahead. Many many different interest and i was an athlete and athletics that led me to study at stanford university which was also enough to home but far enough away and i studied mechanical engineering. I really enjoyed understanding physics than how all had also design and build things produce functionality in the world and i was always drawn more towards like smart systems with sensors and actuators. Programming actually delayed taking programming class. Because i'd heard so difficult on the other athletes libel player. They all said oh. You know the programming class so hard. I loved it beyond words. And then i just i took more computer science punching i decided to stay for master's degree and i worked actually in as a teaching assistant a machine shop for two years helping students learn design and manufacturing like welding and casting bronze and milling aluminum and making parts sticking the shop late at night and i really fell in love with working with younger pupil helping them design and create things and i also took this amazing metrics class. There like realized. I wanted to become a professor and i that i needed a phd. And i needed a phd adviser. So i looked around and found a new professor. Was his first fish student. his name's Niemeier and he was one of the first engineers at intuitive surgical a robotic surgery company. As Lumber Prices Climb, DIY-Ers Cut Out the Middle Man and Mill Their Own

"The price of lumber has more than doubled over the last year so concern consumers with home improvement projects are looking for ways to save. One of those ways is extreme. Do it yourself. We're talking about milling your own lumber. Emily swing reports from anchorage. Hans styles spent the winter building a sawmill from scratch in his garage. Water saw mill. I can make a lot of stuff with it. They also need to learn how to weld. Dow sawmill is about half the size of an upright piano today. He's cutting dozens of boards to build garden boxes. I he rolls a nine foot log into place and then was born the ear plugs. Because it's kinda loud then. He fires up his mill guides jagged metal blade through the long dow spent three thousand dollars to build a sawmill. He'll save thousands on future projects a shed and a bench maybe a dresser
