Self-Care: Giving the World the Best of You, Not the Rest of You
"Always like to start at the beginning which is to define what actually is self -care and I'm actually just back from a weekend away where I went over to Edinburgh and I think the analogy that they always do in every airplane safety demonstration is really apt when you come to self -care which is oxygen mask analogy. So when they're giving a safety demonstration they always talk about how if it was the case that cabin pressure was to fall that you should put on your oxygen mask first before you attempt to help people around you and it's a very good analogy I suppose for self -care that you want to be looking at like what you need to do to give you oxygen and then you look outwards to see who else can I support now that I've sort of made sure that I'm protected and I can continue and I think it's a really good analogy and it's like this kind of left of you and that's a really important distinction I've learned over the years as well you know when people say a glass is half full or a glass is half empty and often what we do with self -care is you know like maybe we get a facial or we get our nails done and like we're topping up this glass or jug of water right but like if you keep pouring out of the jug without replenishing then all you're really doing yes you might fill it up but all of a sudden a week or two later is back to like dangerously low levels again so often what you actually want to try do is have that jug overflowing right so you're always full but the excess runs off and that's what fills other people's cups and really what that's talking about is sort of making sure that like you yourself feeling are good you're full of energy you're full of the joys of life maybe you're full of gratitude and then you give your excess to other people so it's not like you fill up and then you give that away and you're constantly in this fill it back up phase which sort of has a lot of effort attached to it it's rather like can you get yourself to a good place where you actually nearly have like so much that it's overflowing and you can easily give that excess away because it's not it's not detrimental to you because you have enough to continue to fuel yourself as well i really like that analogy like just as much as the oxygen mask one and i think what that reminds me it's self -care is not like one and done right it's like something that you always are sort of making sure that you have time for yourself to do that because you don't want to be trying to fill other people's gases from an empty jug nor do i want to feel that i'm having to take away from myself to give to other people because that can put you on a path towards resentment as well so what actually is self -care about like bubble baths and facials and you know lighting a candle and i enjoy doing all of those things so there's nothing wrong with those things as well but they're very surface level self -care and there is kind of two layers of self -care one is the surface piece but one is much deeper as well and it gets related into understanding your needs and values and living a life aligned to them it's your time it's your boundaries it's maybe having an understanding of your priorities so it's also when we think about self -care is making sure that we were maybe hitting on items that are from both of those lists so the surface level is the sort of relax rejuvenation the rest pieces could be a nap in the afternoon or it could be like i said going to the spa it could be shopping if that's what you enjoy it could be getting a nice cup of coffee out and just being able to you know sit in the sunshine and drink it or sit by yourself and drink it and have nobody disturb you probably harder self -care pieces are the the deeper ones right so it's the boundaries so saying no to people saying no to maybe even spending time with people who drain your energy like that's self -care in itself or if that's not possible it's maybe distancing yourself a little bit from those people i think that's particularly apt coming up to christmas because we do find ourselves in situations where we're spending time with people that perhaps we don't at other times of the year and it can be a very difficult and draining time of year for people it can be things like hobbies i chatted to shaz about this back in season one it's sort of something that we've lost a little bit as our world has got like so convenient and so automated and we're so busy doing all of these other things but like having time to do something that you're passionate about or you're interested in or that engages your creativity and your curiosity is actually really really important because it's carving out time for yourself and often these hobbies can be incredibly self -soothing because you don't think about other things that are going on in your life you're just thinking about not dropping a stitch or you last week and she was talking about how when she hunt horse riding she was literally you know you have to have full concentration because you didn't want to fall off the horse and hurt yourself so hobbies can actually be a really important part of our self -care routines as well

Miles of Marathon Motivation With Jeannie Rice
"Tell me um about your marathon journey how many marathons have you ran so far weeks ago three weeks ago ready yeah I did that was my 131 Wow and then 30 first marathon so you know it's interesting it's a funny actually I told my friends and family when I when I reach hundreds marathon I'm gonna stop running a marathon not that I'm gonna stop running I'll stop for marathon and I'll do the half marathon and I'll continue to run so 100th math and I went to Boston again Boston is very special I guess because I was qualified night very beginning so I went there right after my hundredth marathon I'm thinking already next math and I couldn't so many I still want to do so now since then I've been 31 again 31 more so I am you know still have several math and I want to do so I you know is it easy no training is the hard part as you know anybody can train I mean you get to the starting line we can all get through it math either faster or slower but to get to that point you have to train so train for so weeks train is a tough you know I run 50 miles a week all year round either I have a marathon schedule or not so I am pretty much marathon ready whenever I want to run math and I just picked the one and then I do so 50 miles a week a pretty much six seven days a week once in a while I'll take the day off but you know my day off can be real easy one you know three four mile or none but normally six days a week I run all year round so what made you decide to go from that 5k to a marathon what was there any transition in there any like a 10k then a half or anything like that or you just went from 5k to I think I went seven weeks in a row 5k but 5k is like my speed world to me I am more you know distance runner although I do have a world record 5k I don't consider myself a fast but fast enough for my age division you know I broke the world record on 5k 10k even 1 ,500 meter and one mile this past this year I got all this world record time but marathon is the one I really you know a good at it because a marathon time when I first broke a world record when I was 75 years ago in Chicago and I broke the world record by seven minutes yeah those seven minutes the German lady had it for five years nobody broke until I did it and then I broke that year and then year later I went to Berlin marathon and I broke my own record by three minutes so I have a ten minutes in between so but there's a couple ladies are chasing of course it's fun about it we are not pro runners but you know they are chasing my record and record will be broken some sooner later just like I did this year now I'm move up to 75 and I broke 75 years old record mm -hmm so Chicago I only broke by four minutes so I mean I said only because I was hoping for seven minutes just like I did five years ago but this way I can break my own record again because I didn't run as fast as I want I plan to and I was hoping to so now next big race will be London and that's what I'm going for okay so you're going for all the world majors yes yeah yeah I don't have any marathon plan before then I do have a USATF cross -country that's only 6k 6k in December and I have a math half marathon in December Jacksonville and then in Naples in January that's a big race I go to Naples during the winter time mm -hmm I live in Cleveland Ohio during the summer but it's cold in here so I'll be heading down in a week or two to Florida and I stay there till April so but there's a big half marathon in Naples in January which I do that every year and I belong to running club down there it's a huge race people come from all over so that's my my schedule but I do a lot of 5k if it's a local 5k there is 5k I run anyway because to me that's my fun run and it's a speed work mm -hmm and I'm not really good at going to track every week like some people do I used to when I was younger and I don't do that and I still go once in a while with the friends if they want me to go I'll go but my speed work is local small races or I do on the road by doing this you know running schedule

These GOP Primary Numbers Are Not Favorable...
"Worth watching. And it's But the hard reality is this primary, the numbers right now are not favorable. And they're not favorable because Karl as Rove, who would love him or hate him, wrote the Wall Street Journal this week, you know, Rove has an interest in not getting Trump elected. Rove doesn't like Trump. He just doesn't. It's obvious. I read his stuff in The Wall Street Journal because I want to see what everybody's saying, not just people I agree with. And Rove brought up the point that I I think think it was Rove, but they got to get to Amano Amano. There's got to be like a one on one. If any of these men or women, Nikki Haley, Vivek or DeSantis, who are really the only three contenders seriously left, if any of them are to have a chance, they got to get to a one on one. And there's no reason for any of them to drop out. Folks, put yourself in their shoes. The donor wants one guy or woman. And they think that in a one on one, they've got a shot against Trump. I don't agree. I think Trump right now is kind of running away with it to the point where pluralities and majorities are going to be there in pretty much every state. However, I don't think primaries are a bad thing. And I think a one on one, obviously, math pure would give that person or man a better shot. No diggity, no doubt. The problem is, put yourself in their shoes. If you're Nikki Haley, why are you going to drop out? You're currently running number two in New Hampshire. If you're Nikki Haley, you're in the back room in a smoke filled room with a bunch of donors going, screw that, let that guy drop out, DeSantis. But if you're DeSantis, you're looking at the Haley donors going, well, why would I drop out? I'm number two in Iowa. Right? Well, why not Vivek? Folks, Vivek is worth 100 plus million dollars. Vivek's probably like, you know what? This is an investment in my future. I like politics. I like the Republican brand. I could run again in the future. Why the hell would I drop out? I can finance You gotta remember, man, the

"I've been feeling a bit fatigued over the course of the last couple of weeks. I think it's seasonal allergies, it's catching that cold, it's been traveling a little bit too much, and I just don't bounce back as well as I used to. It's getting older. But the other day, I thought I was around in the corner with a cold. I woke up on Monday not feeling bad, but decided to work from home feeling good, like, okay, I'm going to work on Tuesday. By the time I got up yesterday morning, that fatigue hit me again. No, I didn't sleep well Monday night, Tuesday morning. So I decided to call the doc in the box and see if they could help me out, give me some medication because this cold has turned into a sinus infection, which I normally do. It's the way they've always worked out. Of course, she was telling me I had COVID, or at least she thought I had COVID because I mentioned the word fatigue. Like, seriously? Now, we automatically think just because a person's fatigued, it's COVID. This doctor doesn't know my life. They just think it checks the box. If you're fatigued, you got COVID. But I waited too long, so no need to take a test now. If I plow through it, I plow through it. I just kind of shook my head. You can't just simply have a cold or the flu or even a sinus infection. A Young Fire Spouse's Journey With Her Husband's Cancer Diagnosis
"A few episodes back we sat down with Diane Carter and she shared her story of her husband's line of duty, panther diagnosis, and her relentless pursuit of making turnouts safe and just exploring PFAS and all that fun stuff about exposure in the workplace. If you haven't listened to that podcast, we definitely recommend it. And today we actually have another first responder spouse, Brittany San Pedro with us to share her story about her husband's line of duty cancer diagnosis. Brittany, welcome. Thank you for having me. Brittany San Pedro is a speech therapist assistant, wife to a firefighter and a mom. She has been with her husband for 10 years and has an 18 month old and another one on the way. In late October of 2019, Brittany's husband at the age of 30 and 10 years into his career noticed a small lump on his collarbone. After several tests, he was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was the first line of duty cancer diagnosis in the history of Greeley fire department. Since then, many changes to screening and early detection have been made as a department. As a result, several malignant polyps, skin samples and ultrasound readings have potentially saved the lives of other firefighters within the department. Today, Brittany is sharing her story to help anyone who may feel alone or scared, especially after a health diagnosis. She also wants to encourage change and promote the importance of regular screenings and early detection. Okay. So tell us your story a little bit, the whole thing. We want to hear it. My husband came home one day and just kind of mentioned like, Hey, I got out of the shower at work and I just noticed I had a bump on my collarbone. And he's like, you know, I haven't had my yearly physical. I'm going to go in, have it checked out. And you know, none of us, we weren't really worried. And we were just kind of like, okay, he has a bump. We're going to go check it out. And his general practitioner ran blood work and then started him on antibiotics thinking it was just an infection. His body was fighting something and blood work came back fine. It didn't go down with the antibiotics. At that point, they did an X -ray. Everything looked fine. The blood work looks fine. And his general practitioner asked him what he did for a living. And you know, you fill out that survey, you tell him what you do. And he's like, you know what? We're going to, we're going to keep going. We're going to keep looking. If you're fine with that. You're a firefighter. It just makes me sit better if I, if I keep digging a little bit. And he kept going in for appointments. He then got an ultrasound done. After the ultrasound, he scheduled an appointment for a biopsy to have it looked at. And at this point we hadn't even heard the word cancer yet. I at the time was a special education teacher at a school across the street from the hospital where he was having the biopsy done. He texted me and let me know he was going in. He was super nervous. I let my co -teacher know, Hey, my husband doesn't usually have his feelings out like that. And lets me know that he's there. He's like, that's fine. Go. I ran across the street and he went back. Everything was fine. He came back out and then he just had this look on his face that I'll never forget his eyes started welling up with tears. And I guess the doctor who performed the doctor tech who performed the biopsy, you know, before his doctor had a chance to say anything told him, yeah, this is pretty typical for lymphoma. And both of us were just kind of like, what is happening? What's going on? We were hit by a bus. We didn't even know that this is something that they were looking for. And we called our closest friends, our little mini fire family. And we were like, Hey, we need support tonight. And in a minute, everybody was together at one of our friends house and everybody was just talking trash about the guy who stepped out of his scope of practice and said some things he maybe shouldn't have. And we were like, it's not going to happen. He's too young. He's healthy. There's no way. So a couple of days went by, we got a phone call saying that the doctor wanted us to come in, even though it was his day off and usually not a great sign. So we were a little nervous going in. And then when we sat down, he let us know that they, they did find it to be Hodgkin's lymphoma and that they needed to start figuring out what stage he was at coming up with a plan, trying to figure out everything. And we were both strong until they asked us, you know, are you guys, you guys are young. You guys just got married, just bought a house. Like you, are you guys wanting to start a family at some point? And I just started bawling because I already knew what was coming. And he said, I recommend that you reach out to a fertility specialist, if that's something that you would want to do. And you start reaching out to all your resources. And we did, after that, he started chemo in like less than a week. It was probably like four or five days. And he had chemo, he had it on Christmas. He had it, like he started in November, had it for about six months and then took a little bit of a break and then started radiation. And then after he went through radiation, his end date was March 14th, 2020. And then right after that, the next day the world shut down, but it was just, you know, for us, it was just amazing because he never, we never went to an appointment alone. It was just such a somber time. We were just had this dark cloud of stress and not knowing and anything. And at the same time when it was so dark, such a beautiful thing, because we had the department bringing rigs and down we packed that cancer center and, you know, we had some of his best friends, like his best man and another Lieutenant was there at every single one of his chemo appointments. And, you know, everybody kind of band together for him. It was kind of, it was a beautiful thing to see everybody supporting each other and making sure that he was never alone. You know, the Terry Farrell Fund reached out right away. You know, they did a cut it for cancer for him. It was just something that they hadn't ever experienced before at the, this department. And we were, we were just kind of overwhelmed with all the support that we had,

"You kind of got a you got to kind of creep in early on this story so let me give you little something background happened had to me why are you telling us a personal story because it's about me but it's not really about me it's about this global war on the truth and censorship and how i found myself in the middle of it is almost totally by chance so last was it last week or another week before the week before I traveled to Texas to do a book signing and while I was there my friend Steven Crowder who's got a show Louder with Crowder he was actually on the radio show some of you heard it he's the guy who broke the Nashville Manifesto story he's been around for he's been streaming you know longer than I've been on the air uh so he's been at this a long time he's got a very popular show called Louder with Crowder and we developed sort of a business kind of relationship because I'm investor an in Rumble and he's one of Rumble's most popular talents if not the most he gets a ton of streams he does ton a of content so we struck up a friendship I promised his story as an ending so I said today when I'm out there you know I he'd asked me to come on the show I'd asked him to go on the show was it a perfect kind of symbiotic thing I said while I'm out in Dallas where his studio was I said why don't we do a show together and his team who couldn't have been more gracious about it they were like yeah matter of fact let's do a two hour live stream we'll do an hour your show an hour an Steve show and the only difference between Steve show and mine is I'm exclusively on Rumble I I quit YouTube a long time ago after I quit YouTube they tried to say they fired me which was hilarious because my last video on YouTube was literally titled why I'm leaving YouTube so whatever but you do is that you can't leave we we terminated you okay whatever guys if you need to tell yourself that you go right ahead but I'm either either way I'm not on YouTube but but Steve is he does some content on YouTube so because I was banned from YouTube you were banned from YouTube Dan how is that what did you do I did something really horrible do you remember what it was Jim it was bad I deserved it folks yeah yeah I did that but come on it's Jim does remember so I did this thing listen folks get ready if you got kids around you you might want to turn the radio down this is gonna be it's definitely not appropriate for children so I went on on YouTube and I proceeded to tell people that those surgical masks people were wearing when COVID was peeking out and everybody was freaking out I told people on my YouTube channel that they don't stop COVID and that's what happened this is exactly how you were there we didn't even know he said so crazy Jim had a report that was the response in YouTube wait Jim Jim can you play it out again this was the actual was Jim's got this on tape he was actually had a reporter on the ground got this all on tape I went on a show and I said folks bad news for you those surgical masks are not gonna stop the transmission of COVID and then this happened okay that's checkers that's okay reject that's not the actual although it probably was the actual footage I'm okay not by joking the way that's really why I was banned from YouTube now that's not the real reason I was banned from I am HO in my opinion the real reason I was banned from YouTube is because was I an investor and a rather large one in their competitor which is rumble where my podcast and Steven Crowder's is hosted so the strange thing happened this weekend that yesterday I see account tweets out that he's got another strike from YouTube two strikes for having me on he tweeted out YouTube wants is dead they just hit us with two strikes one on the main channel one on Crowder bits just for having Dan Bongino on we're one strike away from being permanently banned he notes this is why we have mug club and rumble it's the only way to support support the mission can you imagine being a trillion dollar company alphabet google that owns YouTube finding a little old Dan Bongino so scary that he goes on Steven Crowder show which makes its way onto YouTube and you threatened to ban him permanently from the platform and issue them two strikes for doing it folks listen there's a serious uh there's kind of a serious off ramp to this highway I'm on here the reason I'm telling you this story is can if happen it to me it can happen to you I had an option when YouTube started relentlessly attacking my channel for telling you the truth about COVID I had prepared myself by going over to not only investing in rumble but to bringing my audience over to rumble we had 800 ,000 subscribers on youtube we now have 2 almost .97 3 million subscribers on rumble so it's not even close so I had a backup what I'm trying to tell you is if we lose this next election and they know they've got the censors and the Biden regime and the been in charge for the next four

The Surprising Divide Within Jewish Community
"If you're not a faithful Jew if you don't really believe that and you just believe that it's an ethnicity then you fit in with the left -wing Democrat Party just as certain Catholics would or certain Protestants would or certain other people do and the reason is if you don't get real faith out of Judaism or real faith out of Catholicism or real faith out of Judaism then the faith you hold is the faith in government that in the Democrat Party and this is why Mises was talking everybody about talks like Marxists now you listen to the left whether they're Jews or otherwise they all sound like Marxists and so the secularization of the solely ethnic Jewish people as opposed to the Jewish people who are recognize themselves as both an ethnicity and a faith has led to a great divide within the which Jewish community is why you have a guy like Thomas Friedman over writing here in the United States in the New York Times trashing Netanyahu and his unity government over and over and over again for the right -wing extremist religious parties quote unquote you'll get that from the Democrat Party you'll get that from the American media you'll get that from the Biden administration these extremist religious Jews that's what they call them there's never an extremist Marxist whether they're Americans whatever their faith that no no no and here's the piece in Axios by Andrew Solynder little over a week ago scoop Jewish Democrats lead push for Gaza fuel shipments now why would Jewish Democrats be leading the fuel the

Aunt Retells the Tragic Story of J6 Defendant Matthew Perna
"Rest of your holiday weekend and please enjoy the show. Well if you listen to my show before I don't know if you just tuned in or when you tuned in but I was telling a story about these new January 6 videos which now clearly tell an entirely different side of the story I said a lot of stuff happened on that day we've talked about it candidly fairly on this show for a very long time what bothers me is the left was looking to hide an entirely different side of what happened that day not us it was them doing because they don't want you to see the entire story they want you to see what just died and one of the stories is about a really tragic case of a gentleman named Matthew Perna and here to discuss that is a good friend and a real warrior his aunt Jerry thanks a lot for taking the time we really appreciate you coming on today thank you for having me on well we met through police tapes this movie we did and I remember seeing you on the Dinesh had sent me kind of a screener rough cut of the movie and I'm watching you talk about Matthew and what happened to Matthew and my wife I looked over and she couldn't take it neither could I it was such a horrible story if you could tell the audience what happened with Matthew let's and yeah just just tell them what happened your your version of it is really kind of tough to listen to but everyone needs to hear it well Matt went to the Capitol on January 6th he thought going he to was be part of a celebration that day the crowd was big and he got you know into the crowd and it was announced that Mike Pence had certified the election results it wasn't exactly what what he had planned and as the crowd moved forward they went to the Capitol and he was in a huge crowd of people people and he did go in he went inside a door that had been previously opened he walked around inside the building filming from his phone and he walked out he went back to his hotel he made a live Facebook video talking about the day the video is still visible on our website he was very calm and cool just talking about the day and he he made a comment that he said Mike Pence proved himself to be a traitor today and he said but don't worry don't worry this isn't over yet and that was basically the way he said it and about a week or so later I'm sitting on my couch in Florida maps up in Pennsylvania and I saw a post Facebook that said the FBI had posted pictures of people from January 6 so I clicked on the link and I was scrolling through the photos and lo and behold there's Matt's picture and I was speechless I didn't know what to do so I called one of my brothers up in Pennsylvania and I said you need to go to Matt's house first thing in the morning his picture is on the FBI website so six o 'clock in the morning warning my brother shows up at Matt's house and Matt already knew that his picture was there and he and he had contacted a retired police officer and asked him what he should do he told him to call the local office saw the FBI in Newcastle Pennsylvania so at nine o 'clock in the morning that's exactly what Matt did and Matt seriously thought this was all a huge misunderstanding he just needed to explain that he didn't hurt anybody he didn't break anything and he thought this would be resolved and so the FBI came out to talk to him and I had a couple of my brothers there present as witnesses and they listened to Matt's story and they made it seem like yeah I was just a misunderstanding and they left and Matt called me and I said you know I don't like the sound of this I said I'm coming home so I a got on plane and I flew home that week and I said we need to get you a lawyer and we did we got him a lo lawyer and and behold the FBI showed up and arrested Matt that week while I was there and they took him in and they processed him and they may let him go he was not placed in custody he was told he had to report to somebody if he were to leave the was charged with four misdemeanors the regular ones the rating disorderly and conduct and we met with his attorney his attorney said oh this is nothing this is just a slap on the wrist you've never been arrested for anything before don't worry about it I've got this well then they slapped 220 of the J sixers with the felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and that's when it got serious but his attorney was still saying don't worry this is this is nothing so somebody sent me video that they had of matt outside of the capitol at 2 55 in the afternoon and I says well that's almost 45 minutes after congress adjourned you hadn't even gone inside yet he said no so I thought well there's your evidence right there it's right there on video you didn't go inside you didn't obstruct anything so I sent it to his attorney and his attorney said it nope doesn't matter they said he was there so it was an obstruction and and that video isn't going to help so this was a start of a nightmare a nightmare watching matt worry and deteriorate because the newspaper facebook social media everybody was brutal they were showing the video from january six that everybody has seen countless times and calling it an insurrection and matt's community turned against him his business which he ran through social media was taken away from him all of the accounts were he disabled and didn't want to leave his house anymore and he would have meetings with his attorney that were you would have to go into the attorney's office and they would meet with the judge via zoom because of the whole covid mess and they would cancel those meetings at the very last minute every and postpone them and it would just wear on him because he would prepare himself mentally what he was going to say and they would say up it's been canceled and this went on for quite some time and um that was deteriorating something awful he no longer ran he was a runner he gave away his television because he couldn't stand to see the news anymore with his picture on his dad was who is my oldest brother has parkinson's disease and it was affecting him something awful and matt felt very guilty about the effect it had on his dad and as the year was coming to a close it was almost christmas matt had lost a ton of wait he was vomiting blood at this point and he told his attorney just i just need this to be over what's the best way for this to be over his attorney said plead guilty you're looking at six to twelve months in a federal prison camp minimum security and matt says okay what then i'll that's do and matt was going to he told me i'll turn it into a positive he said i'll teach my fellow inmates help them get their geds i'll work on another degree for myself at the time matt was very intelligent and very giving so that was settled and the hearing was scheduled for march the third and a week before the hearing matt called his attorney and he said i just have a bad feeling it's just a counseling came over me so that's the day my mother died march the third his attorney says well matt i have bad case they've postponed your your hearing again to april fool's day and the prosecution is looking to add a sentencing enhancement of terrorism and this could have taken matt's sentence to nine years in jail matt called me on the phone sobbing that day uncontrollably sobbing sobbing i could not hardly understand him he kept telling me he he loved me kept apologizing to me for losing all of my friends because i lost every friend i almost almost everyone i ever had over this and i told him don't worry we're going to get through this together don't worry god's not going to let you go to jail i promise you this and he told me he loved me i told him i loved

Finding Your Source of Confidence, Strength and Security
"Extremely important to be confident. You know, they say the difference between a confident person and an arrogant person is that a confident person has nothing to prove, but an arrogant person appears to have to prove that they're confident. Isn't that funny? Now you got to know who you are. You got to know what you want to do and you got to figure out how to do it, but you got to be confident. And it's not that kind of confidence where you fake it till you make it. I mean, you've got to be confident. You know, you've got to be confident and I can make this thing work. When my phone didn't ring for two weeks, I was still confident I could make this thing work. At the time, all I had to do was just go out and work harder and meet more people and make my phone ring and that's what I did. So I also had, I had personally, my strength came from my faith in Jesus Christ. That's where I get my strength today from my faith in my Lord and Savior. And that's not for everyone and that's okay, but you've got to get your strength from something or someone in order to make it through the obstacles and the failures you're going to have. So, you've also got to be secure in being who you are at any time in your growth. You know, when I started joining some groups and I was just doing somewhere around 400 ,000 a year and I was joining groups sitting at tables with guys that were doing 4 million a year or 2 million, 3 million, 4 million, some higher than that, I still had to be confident sitting at that table. You know why? Because I realized everybody at that table started somewhere and I was okay with where I was. Now, I wanted to be larger for sure, but I was okay. I was a sponge around that table. I was learning and they learned a few things from me, but I was learning. And if you take a quick look at some very, very successful companies and the owners and founders of the company, you'll find they started with very little too. So let's take a look at them right now. Put them up on the screen. Let's take a look at Steve Jobs. I mean, Steve Jobs started in his dad's garage, as you know, if you've watched any of the Steve Jobs movies. How about Elon Musk? Take a look at that guy. He started in a small office in his house. And then there's Jeff Bezos. Jeff Bezos started... Look at that office. I mean, he started somewhere. I mean, Amazon wasn't an existence. It wasn't around. It wasn't... He started it. See, he started small and started selling books. You know why he started selling books? Because he figured it out that books could be shipped for about the same price. So it was an easy shipping. And then he went to CDs and DVDs, which was actually easier shipping. So that's what he started with and why. Isn't that kind of funny? And then of course, you know where Amazon's at today. Okay. So everybody starts somewhere and normally it's pretty small. So long story short, you got to be secure where you're at in your growth.

Successful People Don't Get Stuck on Failure
"Second year in my business, second year, not first year, not first month, second year in business, my phone didn't ring for two weeks. And a lot of people were saying, what are you going to do? I mean, you know, how are you going to make this work? Your phone's not ringing. What are you going to do? I could have easily quit. I could have easily tapped out right there. And then a few years later, I didn't tap out. It's gradually started growing. And my sixth year in business, I was applying for a building loan because we had plans to build a new building to get out of the garage that we had built the second year in business. And I went to five banks, five banks. They said, no way, no way, no way, no way, no way. And I could have easily thrown in the towel, tapped out right there. But I didn't. The sixth, the bank said, yes. And we were in business. I mean, we were building a building. And I got, you know, I got all the walls built on that building and I hired a contractor and we had to do a lot of, remove a lot of trees and do all the foundational work and all that kind of stuff. But they were putting the walls up and got all four walls up and they didn't have them supported well. And one Saturday they collapsed. Yeah, that's, a lot of people would have thrown in a towel right there because it's just, I don't give up easily. The contractor, it was his fault. He didn't have them supported properly. He fixed it, ended up building the building, blah, blah, blah. So you know, things happen. The list, my list of obstacles and failures go on and on and on and on and on. And successful people, they don't get stuck on failure. Failure is just part of the process to succeeding. And that's what you got to know.

Dessert (MM #4627)
"The Minute Mason with Kevin Mason. Like many, we'll be hitting the road for Thanksgiving. And our big concern, which isn't really a concern, but it's something that we've been talking about now for days, what are we doing for dessert? My wife has long been in charge of the desserts for the family. Sometimes it's an apple crisp, sometimes it's pumpkin pie, it's been chocolate pie, it's been Hoosier cream pie, and lots of things in between. But for tradition's sake, usually a pumpkin pie. That's cool. The nieces and nephews like apple crisp. That's great too, that works. They also like cookies, and she does great cookies. You know what? It doesn't matter. I will be satisfied with any dessert, because I've found very few desserts that have ever been a little disappointing. But whatever we get, that's good by me. But it's kind of funny how we're concerned with this. How this is a topic of conversation, not just one night, not just two, but over the course of weeks. My wife cares because she wants everybody to be happy. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. Whatever's there on my plate, I'll fill it up and I'll eat it. And if it's pumpkin pie or apple crisp or cookies or whatever, I'll be very happy. I guess life is very good. We have lots to be thankful for. If the biggest concern we have right now is what's for dessert.

"Yeah, that's pretty good. That's pretty good. Yeah. And the shocker too, you know, you talk about the press and him going through his financials. I, I, okay, I'm going to share for, for those listening. Anybody out there, you know, for the most part, you know, everybody calls about what, you know, politicians make and they're underhanded and they do dirty deals, all this kind of crap. We're the most regulated industry out there. Okay. Because from a personal standpoint, I had to, when I was in Congress and it made it, I made it pretty easy on my staff because I really didn't have any stocks. I didn't have, I mean, we, we were, I mean, we, we, we, Lisa and I'd save money. We had a house, we, we had a few things, but we didn't, you know, it was always good for us. We never wanted to be in the top, in the bottom five of the 435, but we never wanted to be, you know, we were never going to get close to the top of who made most and always in the bottom. But people know that you can look at it. I mean, this is open and if we, and if you lie on that, you go to jail. I mean, this is not a, you know, it's not a, Hey, make it up as you go kind of thing, but they're picking on him, you know, in that regard. But the, what got me is the most is they're picking on him because he's an actual conservative. He, his wife and he are actual conservatives. They believe in pro-life. They have biblical worldview. It's amazing to me that they're calling him a short earther because he, you know, cause he said, you know, he made a speech one time, you know, he believed in the biblical chronology. It's like, okay. I mean, again, it's just, it's so hypocritical of the left. Oh, completely, completely. And he's, and he's, not only is he a conservative, but he's a Christian and he's not afraid to wear his faith on his sleeve. And, and he's, and he's, and he, by the way, he's likable. He's a likable person, likable guy. And that drives him nuts. Yeah. Oh yeah. You see him out and you see, you've heard him on this podcast and I encourage, hey folks, if you're listening to the podcast, they go to the, if you haven't seen it, subscribe, please hit the subscribe button, keep coming back, but also you can go back. If you subscribe, you can go back and see, uh, on wherever you get your podcast and you can go back and find Mike Johnson. We've had him on a couple of times, uh, over the years talking about a lot of the different stuff going on. And he has a very loud and he's very knowledgeable. He's a constitutional lawyer. Uh, they're not so shockingly enough. And I know there may be people listening to this podcast that that'll be offended by what I'm going to say. Shockingly enough. He is actually a constitutional lawyer, not one who plays one at local party meetings. Um, you know, I'm waiting for the email button to ring on that one, but okay. It's coming. Here we go. You know, just go there and hit the button and tell me what you want them. I don't care. If, if you, if you spent 20 minutes reading the constitution and believe that you have all the ins and outs on it, and you go talk about it at different party meetings, Republican party meetings and other.

"Think about it. Howard McConnell and Schumer say no in many ways to, okay. We know that our Ukraine money in the house is almost going to be hard to get. We know we're getting pressured hard on Israel money. All right, let's just take this off the table and go back to square one. I look, we'll see it all play out in the, in the crystal ball. Mike Johnson, it could be the best route because for the most part, he pleased. You know, his side, he'll get, he'll get the, he'll get not all of those. This is a concern because you've got some who inherently just don't want to do it anyway. Oh yeah. And that, and that's what I think he's about to find out. And it, you know, um, you know, this from serving and, um, and being up in Washington, you know, so much of what happens up there, you know, um, it is really about personality and relationships. And I know, you know, people don't like to hear that. Um, and it does seem like, and I certainly like Kevin, I know you did. And that doesn't mean I always got along with him or agreed with everything that he was doing. I know you, you kind of feel the same way, but you know, um, in, in watching Mike's press conference this morning, you know, we're about to find out how much of the people that didn't like Kevin and his tactics was about personality and how much of it was actually about policy. Yeah. Yeah. Because I, I mean, it's Mike Johnson's a hard guy not to like. Right. I mean, he's, you know, he's, uh, I mean, you just, he's, um, he's smooth. He's calculated. He drives the media crazy. I don't know if you've noticed this, Doug, the mainstream media is going ballistic. It's not independently wealthy. Yeah. The latest is he doesn't have a checking account.

"And again, if this is, you know, again, you're always typing podcasts and bills are moving pretty quickly, but I won't say that when you were looking at the Israel pay package, everybody supports the Israel aid package. There's nobody really in Congress, except the squad and a few others who are not supporting it. So it would pass with bipartisan if it came basically on its own. Uh, now in the house, the Ukrainian aid package has a real hard time and that's why the Senate is doing it. So I thought he had a good idea to come out early, get an Israeli package, uh, $14 billion, send it to the, to the Senate. And then I thought, and look, we can all debate how badly we are in debt. I get it, but he's got the CR coming up. He's got appropriates bills where you can maybe offset some stuff there. He chose not to do that. He chose not to bring a clean, what we'll call a clean bill. He chose to offset it with IRS money, which immediately took from the inflation reduction. I immediately took all of the Democrats off the table. In some ways, I feel like that has undercut the position because if he could have sent that to the house, to the Senate with 350, 375 Republicans and Democrats, that puts Schumer and McConnell in a hard boat. It does, but I, a hundred percent Doug, but, but I think it, it, you, you just kind of highlighted the challenges that, that he's going to deal with. Right. Because, um, Kevin, um, if you watch Kevin McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy's press conferences as speaker, you know, he never really, Kevin never had a honeymoon ever. No. I mean, you know, it was, it was how many days, how many votes until he, because so Kevin never really had a honeymoon. Kevin always seemed very frustrated. And I think rightfully so because, you know, um, Republicans don't control the executive branch and, you know, we don't control the Senate. We have such a narrow majority in the house. And so, you know, it, uh, I think one of the reasons Kevin was always frustrated and he always looked exasperated and exhausted when, when he was speaking is because, you know, he knew that the hand that he had been dealt, you know, was not a really strong hand. If you play poker, you get, you know, you get, you get two cards that nobody gets to see, and then, uh, you know, and then, and then, uh, the other cards belong to, you know, everybody else. And, you know, the cards that Kevin kept on getting, nobody could see, you didn't need to see them, but you didn't, you knew they weren't, you know, you knew they weren't good cards. And, and, you know, Mike Johnson right now, I mean, uh, you know, he's not experienced defeat yet on legislation. He's not experienced defeat on any tactics and legislative tactics decision that he's made. He will, because it's just, you know, it's part and parcel. Um, and, and look, I, I, I hope he succeeds as well, but, um, you know, I don't know how, you know, I, I don't have a crystal ball to know how we're going to get funding for, uh, for Israel. It seems like it's gotten off to a little bit of a rocky start. Um, you know, but maybe, maybe Doug that, you know, when, when this is all said and done, and if Israel does get the funding that they need, um, you know, maybe, uh, you know, we can go back and look at this and say, all right, well, you know, Mike Johnson, you know, had to go and I had to go about it that way at the beginning, but, um, it's, uh, it's going to be, honeymoon's going to be over quick. It's, it's about to be a rough three, four or five weeks. Yeah. And I think that's, that's my only, my concern is, is, is look, I get it. I mean, you would lose 50, 60, I won't go high. So you lose 40, 50, even maybe 60 Republicans. If they didn't offset it. Okay. We've gotten into it. I was watching something. Okay. Chip, this'll blow your mind. I was watching, uh, Boston legal. I had it on the background. I was doing work in the office. I've been first time I've been in the office in about two weeks and I hadn't just had it playing in the background and they were doing an argument about, uh, voting and kids voting. It was one of the funnier episode, but better episode. But, uh, Dan Larroquette who played one of the lawyers got up and he made a comment. He said, why not, you know, under, you know, kids 17, why shouldn't they vote? I mean, we're already $8 trillion in debt. And I thought to myself, that was just 2006, 2007. We were $8 trillion in debt. We are $33 trillion today. It was $12 trillion when I came to the, when I got to Congress in 12, it was like around $12 trillion, $13 trillion. I mean, I get it that, you know, people are going to say, well, you should have offset it. Well, you know, baby until you start actually doing really things that's going to cut that, then basically I love you, man, but shut up. That's like, that's like you being on a diet and having a double scoop Sunday and just saying, hold the sprinkles. I mean, we got a problem here. And I just was, you know, I thought maybe they could do that. And, and for the first time in a long time, the house put the Senate in a bind. Yeah, that would be nice from time to time.

"Hi, welcome aboard, Jeff. How are we doing, buddy? I'm doing great, Doug. I hope you are. Oh yeah. Ready to go. You know, just been on the road a lot, looking at all this, watching it and hearing from people, you know, especially up when you're up with Fox and you're up everywhere else talking about what's going on Capitol Hill. Well, first off, we now have a speaker. Let's, you know, again, we, this has been on the discussion. We've talked about this on the podcast earlier, but now when we dive in a little deeper here, because, you know, look, Mike Johnson is a good guy. I know him personally. I know him very well. He's a good guy. He's been on this podcast multiple times. Um, and so sort of get a behind the scenes in him, but chip one, let's start, let's just go before we get to Mike himself and really the problems are there. Did it really? And I'm, this is not, it's sort of rhetorical, but it's not, it was amazing. It took three and a half weeks. Yeah. I mean, I, what does that show us? And cause one of the reasons I wanted to talk to you today about politics is we're going to get into redistricting. We're going to get into elections. We're going to get into stuff that you and I have been dealing with forever. But, um, I think we still have a problem within the conference, even though they came together and I know there's people passing out in their cars right now, please no heavy traffic here, but it did pass unanimously. But you just get the sense that maybe this, it, and, you know, it's going to be a struggle that reveals deeper schisms within the party. Yeah. I mean, look, I mean, you look, it took three and a half weeks in some ways, Doug, it feels like it took a lot longer than that. Right. I mean, you know, three and a half weeks is a long time, but it, it, it feels like now that we have a speaker, it kind of feels like we went six or seven weeks without one. And, um, you know, the, I was watching, um, um, Mike Johnson's first formal press conference today, he gave it this morning. You know, and the thing that struck me is just how, and I don't know, Mike Johnson, like you do, and I'm getting to learn, you know, a lot more about him, just like most of the American people are right now. And what really struck me, Doug, is just how different he is than Kevin. Right. And that, that's not a knock on Kevin. It's just, you know, I mean, there, you know, as individuals and as elected officials and as people, I mean, people have different strengths and weaknesses and different styles. And, you know, Mike Johnson, what he says, his cadence, his personality, his style, um, probably his tactics, his ideology, I didn't realize how they really are different than Kevin. What's not different are the challenges that he faces. Right. I mean, the challenges that he faces are very similar, if not identical to the ones that Kevin faces. And so, yeah, look, he's going to have a little bit of a honeymoon, but it's going to be about this big and still in the honeymoon phase now. But I don't, I don't know how, you know, especially in light of what happened, you know, with the, you know, motion to vacate the chair and eight Republicans voting for all Democrats to, you know, remove Kevin McCarthy as speaker. I don't know with the, the wounds that exist between, um, you know, the, let's just call it the different sides of the caucus. I mean, I don't, I don't know that, uh, you know, I think everybody kind of wants to get along right now and they are in public, but I mean, you know, we're, I think we'll, we'll see where the rubber hits the road here really within the next two or three weeks. Yeah. And I think so. And, and look, you know, we're, we're looking back a little bit here and, you know, and last week you also had interesting enough, uh, Kay Granger, head of approach is retiring. You had Ken Buck who, uh, is that he's basically retiring and he did not go out kicking, you know, quietly he's went kicking and screaming. And I think you'll hear, uh, more from Ken and, and the Ken is another one that I know very well, and it's just, uh, and Ken is very opinionated. I always has been, I knew him before he was elected. And, uh, but what he's been saying really brings back some of the harsh, you know, sort of realities that we have in the conference that this just is not going to be easy. Um, it may or may not happen before this actual podcast, uh, drops, but there is a bill that is being discussed about the Israel pay for, and it goes, this one shines a little bit of a light. I think, uh, chip into the thinking of, of Mike Johnson, the new speaker in a way that we're going to have to get used to for a little bit. And I don't mean to be, I look, I'm wanting to uplift him. Okay. I want him to, I want him to do good. I mean, we need all the help, but it is interesting that this was a more, uh, okay. Let me set this table here for everybody.

"In your back and many, many people in fire nation want to leave their 9 to 5, but they don't know what type of business or less even call it a side hustle that they would start. What would you share with them? Okay, let's talk about the sweet spot. This is something I teach all my students. I detail it out in the book, but I'll quickly go through it now. You want to think about your sweet spot. And there are four quadrants to the sweet spot. So quadrant number one is where have you gotten results for yourself or for somebody else? Meaning in your personal life or business life, where have you seen success? What do people ask you about all the time? And you only need a 10% edge, my friend, meaning you don't need more schooling, more certification, anything like that. You just need to be 10% ahead of those that you are going to serve. So start thinking about where you've gotten results because I'm guaranteeing you there's a business in there somewhere. Now the second quadrant is who do you want to serve? When you think about the people you want to serve, a lot of the times, it's someone like you, but maybe 5, ten years ago. So what other challenges? What are their pain points? What's keeping them up at night? We need to align your results that you've gotten with the challenges that your audience is looking to solve. So we want alignment there. The third quadrant is where are people spending money? So when you think about what you might want to do in your business, are there books about it, podcasts about it, other courses about it? Do people pay for it like coaching consulting? And if the answer is yes, that is a great first validator. Now I know what comes up here. Some people will say, yeah, but Amy, it's already being done already. And who's doing it is doing it way better than me and they have a huge audience. That does not matter. There are over 7 billion people on this planet. There is room for you and you don't have to do it just like everybody else. So if it's already being done before, look at that as a great validator. And the fourth one is what lights you up. We're not going to create a business around something you dread talking about because you're going to eat sleep and breathe this business. And so it doesn't have to be your life passion, but you've got to enjoy it, you have to love talking about it. So those are the four quadrants of the sweet spot. Fire nation. I'm not going to go over all four, but I really want you to think about these two specifically. Where have you seen past success? And again, you don't need to be the expert just 10% edge. I love that. One chapter ahead of the people you're going to be dealing with. And the number three, I love that. Where are people spending money? That's key. Where's money flowing right now?

"We have so many value bombs awaiting your ear balls, so don't go anywhere because Amy, you once were maybe that person who did have to keep your dreams to yourself. Because you had a corporate career that wasn't quote unquote cutting it for you. Talk to us about that career and when you really felt ready to quit, if ever. Okay, so I always thought I would be a corporate girl, and I was really good at having a boss. I love to climb the corporate ladder. I love to get promotions. I love a paycheck every other week with the benefits. That all worked for me really well. And I was good at it. I was good at taking direction. I was good at excelling. And then one day I found myself in my last corporate job with Tony Robbins, and he had this meeting with all of these online marketers and business owners. They all came into this one meeting. They were sharing what they were doing in their businesses. I was asked to come into the meeting and take notes very humbling and these guys went around and talked about their businesses and all I heard was freedom. And all I heard is that they got to be creative and call the shots and work when they wanted where they wanted, how they wanted, and I thought, I don't know what these guys are doing, but I want a piece of it. And it was that moment that I realized I wanted something more. I wasn't happy anymore what I was doing or where I was, and I needed to be my own boss. So a year later is when I finally took the leap to do so, but it was that moment that I realized I wanted freedom. Now, a lot of people have that moment, Amy. And then they sit on that idea that desire that goal, that dream, for months, for years. Some people for decades because they think they need to have this crazy elaborate business plan that's like 47 pages long, PowerPoints, venture capital backing, all this stuff. Let's talk about the real nuts and bolts. Did you have a business plan before quitting? I don't even know what a business plan looks like. Like genuinely have never even seen one. And if I talk to most of my peers, did you have one? Not even a little. Okay, thank you. I was like, oh gosh, it's gonna be awkward. He's like, yes, it was 50 pages. So you do not need an elaborate business plan. And you absolutely do not need a huge nest egg that you save up for three years before you quit your job. Most of us do not have any of that. You definitely want to start thinking about, well, how would I serve what kind of offer would I put together? Who do I want to serve? You definitely want to kind of round out your idea, but a lot of us just get started by creating content and trying new things and putting offers out there. The way you start is not what it's going to look like 5 years, ten years from now. So you got to give yourself some grace just to get going. Fire nation. This is so exciting and so fun because you're literally going to have the belief in the confidence that you can do what you want to do as soon as we're done talking. In fact, some of you probably already have it right now. And there is a lot of things that I love about Amy porterfield. I mean, Amy, this is going to sound kind of crazy. And I'm not trying to age us at all. But I interviewed you for the first time over. Let me be clear over ten years ago. Stop it. It was the fall

Let's <Speech_Male> see if there's any <Silence> more <Speech_Male> news <Silence> before <SpeakerChange> we site <Silence> off <Speech_Male> like <Speech_Male> i said riley rafe <Speech_Male> visiting the bengals <Speech_Male> that'd be an nice <Silence> signing that line <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> and like <Speech_Male> i said outside <Speech_Male> the lack <Speech_Male> of offensive <SpeakerChange> line <Silence> signings <Silence> <Speech_Music_Male> i. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I like <Silence> what the bengals have done. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I think <Silence> that there is <Speech_Male> hope. <Silence> I don't see <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> the bengals <Speech_Male> going. <Speech_Male> So far below <Silence> five hundred. <Speech_Male> I know <Speech_Male> there's a lot bengals fans <Speech_Male> i've already said. <Speech_Male> Oh <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> it's <Speech_Male> gonna be <Speech_Male> a fly of <Speech_Male> twelve seasons <Speech_Male> like okay. <Speech_Male> What proof <Speech_Male> do you have on that. <Silence> <Silence> <Speech_Music_Male> But <Silence> <Silence> <Silence> <Advertisement> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> bengals assigning <Silence> people <Silence> <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> it's looking <Speech_Male> interesting <Speech_Male> so definitely <Speech_Male> will talk more about <Speech_Male> this next week <Silence> when free agents <Speech_Male> chases <Silence> finished <Silence> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> the bengals spending <Silence> <Advertisement> money again <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> if <Silence> it helps them out. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> That's to <SpeakerChange> be determined <Silence> later. <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> will say you <Speech_Male> know. I really <Speech_Male> want the joe burrow. <Speech_Male> Come back <Speech_Male> there. Is someone <Speech_Male> in the area. That's <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> had the <Speech_Male> audacity <Speech_Male> to share pictures. <Speech_Male> Borough getting hurt <Silence> and celebrating it. <Speech_Male> Because <Speech_Male> you know the bengals haven't done <Speech_Male> anything with the <Silence> offensive line <Speech_Male> so <Speech_Male> you know there's <Speech_Male> that that's classy <Silence> <Speech_Male> good <Speech_Male> on you for that. I guess <Speech_Male> and people <Speech_Male> have called him out on <Silence> it. Which <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> thank you <Speech_Male> because of the fact <Speech_Male> that you know <Speech_Male> just because you don't like <Speech_Male> the bengals doesn't mean you <Speech_Male> have the basham every <Speech_Male> time. Yes <Speech_Male> i know. Bengals <Speech_Male> should be getting offensive <Speech_Male> line. Help and i think <Silence> they will do it. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But there's <Speech_Male> no reason to <Speech_Male> you know <Speech_Male> share pictures of borough <Silence> getting her. <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> What <Silence> what is your problem <Silence> <Silence> so <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> with that little <Speech_Male> nice <Silence> bomb drop. <Speech_Male> Now do <Speech_Male> it. That's episode two. <Speech_Male> Oh six we <Speech_Male> cover a lot of local <Speech_Male> sports. <Speech_Male> Probably a lot <Speech_Male> more than what's been <Speech_Male> on that radio show <Speech_Male> in the past three <Speech_Male> weeks. I will go ahead <Silence> and mention <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> from here until <Speech_Male> june twelfth <Speech_Male> when we get everything <Speech_Male> settled in the new <Speech_Male> place <Speech_Male> actress june twelfth. <Speech_Male> When we move <Silence> to the new place <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> if there are <Speech_Male> breaks in this <Speech_Male> podcast. I'm <Speech_Male> not quitting. <Speech_Male> I'm here to stay. <Speech_Male> I'm here to prove <Silence> that you know. <Speech_Male> I'm <Speech_Male> hearing improved employers <Speech_Male> that not hiring <Silence> me and not you <Speech_Male> know <Speech_Male> telling <SpeakerChange> me why <Speech_Male> not hired is <Silence> a mistake <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> so definitely <Silence> looking. Forward <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> to continuing <SpeakerChange> this <Speech_Male> podcast. <Speech_Male> Hopefully <Silence> there won't be <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> long of a break again <Silence> but like i said <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> getting closer to <Speech_Male> time. <Speech_Male> It's gonna be <Speech_Male> hectic. I started <Speech_Male> broadcasting <Speech_Male> champion city. And the king's <Speech_Male> late <Speech_Male> may dragon <Speech_Male> start up in <Speech_Male> may <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> man. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I can't <Speech_Male> wait i. I <Speech_Male> work a very <Silence> busy spring. <Speech_Male> But it's <Speech_Male> gonna be a great spring. <Speech_Male> So i'm i'm happy. <Speech_Male> Stay busy <Speech_Male> but just <Silence> to let you know <Speech_Male> there is a break. <Speech_Male> I'm not <Speech_Male> quitting the podcast. <Speech_Male> It's <Speech_Male> just that <Speech_Male> i have to get ready for <Silence> this new move. <Speech_Male> Unfortunately <Speech_Male> i don't think there's <Speech_Male> going to be a space for me to <Speech_Male> have a podcasting <Silence> room in my own but <Speech_Male> it's <Speech_Male> two floors <Speech_Male> several rooms. <Speech_Male> I got plenty of places <Speech_Male> to record. <Speech_Music_Male>

"Touchdowns against houston texans week. Sixteen so no touchdowns for p. ride but you know like. I said he did a better job. Towards the end of the season now with nixon and p rhyme this also brings up a good point about giovanni bernard one year on bernard's contracts left for four million me. That's a pretty stacked running back corps. You know that'd on three. I believe but i like what the bengals are doing. I still want to see more work in the offensive line. But i'm not upset at the moment though. The bangles aren't getting tuning. He signed a five year deal with kansas city. At yeah i wanted to come to cincinnati. It'd be a great homecoming. And i think he'd do a great job on the line but there's more offensive linemen out there as long as they're better than bobby heart which. I don't really think there's a lot that isn't there the bobby hard this point. It's still a good shot for the bengals to be competitive for twenty twenty one. I'm not seeing a to fourteen. I'm not seen another five eleven to one last year. I've not seen that. What i'm seeing is a bagel steam. That'd be more competitive albie a lot fun to watch so let's look at the five winners and losers for the first wave of bengals free agency still more work to be done. But who's benefited. I mentioned the dc lew abbott ruto. He's got dj reader. Trae wayne's now hendrickson belle. A woozy mike. Helton bengals went defense. I again at really if an aroma can't produce this year i think he's out the door. After this season that the names i read off. They can avoid injury. That's pretty nice defense. Defensive line still needs work. But i just i don't think defense is going to be a crutch but the bengals can lean on. I just don't trae wayne's also listed as a winner but with hilton hosie.

"Oh and to lasalle and three and rhode island. Oh and nine now. It's time to talk about miami. Red hawks baseball and softball. Let's get some action and move over to the redhawks sites and this is going to be the second last softball team. We talk about remember since savior. Do not feel the sport. Shame softballs a lot of fun. We'll start with softball. Actually for the red hawks. In the mac and for the redhawks again they're supposed to be at. Ud soon by emi seven and six overall and no conference games yet. Drop the series at mississippi states split at tennessee swept georgia tech on the road. Loss at georgia lost set without. Excuse me one at georgia state lost at kennesaw state and so far. No home games yet for the redhawks for that scheduled to change this weekend as western michigan university comes in for four. And then the flyers. Welcome in you. But then back at home for miami softball though hosts central state for four and then hosting eastern kentucky for two to close out the month of march standings and softball look like this toledo six thousand five miami seven six bowling green eight and seven ohio four and five ball state six and nine northern illinois. Five and eight western michigan four nine kent state three in ten central michigan two and seven buffalo tune. Eleven akron one and eleven. So let's move over to baseball now. And the mac redhawks should have another great squad. Great start last year and squashed by cova. Of course do the standings. I currently akron foreign one. Not sure of that. One loss is gets whittenberg because wittenberg did beat akron on the road. Yes it is. That's the one loss and so far. Try mercy. Hurst is d one score not not one games yet for accurate. But that's gonna change. As this weekend. These zips will host eastern michigan. Why talk about akron baseball while it's because of the fact. That's it's chris. Sabo leading the charge. For the zips and the resurgence of akron baseball. So that's why i did that. Akron one kent state four and three miami seven six such biscuit to and to having the you. Ud tomorrow ball state. Six and seven eastern michigan four and five ohio one to bowling green two and seventy a nine northern illinois. One nine in western michigan is. Oh and three for the red sox. They're listed at seven seven not seven and six like the standings have it. They've lost two in a row. Have the hawks. And that was a series loss at memphis took down the tigers nine. Nothing in the first game but dropped the next two five to two and four to two toledo flies into mckee field at hayden park for four and then for four games on the campus of miami. You before taking off to visit eastern michigan again for four. We're going to talk about the kentucky. I mentioned softball. And the norse were one of many. What of like ten teams tied at two and two. But.

"Joy were march madness. Baby sweet sixteen. Boom actually boom is part of the ref never mind. It's time to talk about the big dance. That's right and this year. There's not a lot to talk about because none of the southwest. Ohio teams made it in no wright. State raiders no dayton flyers and the big dance now miami redhawks cincinnati bearcats. No xavier musketeers. No norfolk north. So why am i talking about on a podcast that talks about local cincinnati dayton sports on glad you asked why not my podcast and go through some the picks and some of my upsets. Then you can also call me haters or whatever you'd like to do but should be very fun brackets i. I've heard ninety eight percent of the conference. Finals did get through unharmed. That is nice but let me tell you. Some of my upsets. I've had will start with these south division of the march madness brackets. I had fifteen seat at our roberts upsetting number two that team in columbus. I know you're gonna call me a hater. But i base it on the fact that that team in columbus really choked as of late. And yeah you can say the made the title game whoop de do but look at the regular season ending. Just now i. i don't see that team. In columbus going far i also have winthrop which is led by pat kelsey. You might know him as a cincinnati native coach of the eagles and also rumored to be the next head coach of xavier. Before travis steele was hired for that job back kelsey worked with chris mac for very long time before taking the winthrop by the white mac. Now with louisville cardinals. I had that beating number five villanova and that was tough. Pick for me. Villanova's got a couple injuries Their point guard was chris. Gillespie he's out with for the season with. I think in acl tear so they're missing couple of key players and i think that's prime opportunity for an upset. Let's see who else did i have by the way i four starring tonight. It is super weird. That's not going to be at. Ud arena but everything's in indiana. Indiana farmers benchers life hosting some. I think indiana us cut some all of its in the hoosier state is basically what i'm saying i wanted to go. Hi over virginia. Because hey the cavaliers did fall to unbc unbc. I think that's what it is. I'll find him on twitter. There's still you know one of the funniest accounts out there. But then i thought no. I think tony bad's going to have his team. Ready to go against the bobcats. Not saying that's not going to be an easy battle. No but i had virginia going over. I also had whereas it on this brackets technically not an upset but i did have loyal chicago. Getting over georgia tech. I think the ramblers they've done so many great things since leaving the horizon league for the missouri valley. I mentioned it on tom. Green's podcast which by the way you listen to now find it on my twitter at the league wwl in you can listen to them from there. I mentioned on that podcast would loyola was in the horizon. League did really do much but now in the missouri valley. They've been competitive. They've been consistent and they've been really good so i like seeing that it's just too bad..

"Although the vikings forfeits for games and two thousand eighteen because of oh hsa violations. So what does that mean for. Cincinnati as a whole in terms of ice school football and the greater miami conference. I'm glad you asked. I have a feeling that that could be two teams that constantly. Battled for the top of the gmc and will be tom. Bulletins lakota west. Firebirds and andre parker's princeton vikings now. I know i broadcasting princeton. That makes me sound like a homework but just hear me out like i said parker seventy seven thirty. He did a lot of great things with winton woods. Football and in fact. Yeah it's one of the teams. That i was happy to see you. Go in the sec. Just when you think high school football win woods is probably one of the few teams that you think about right at the top of your head just goes how consistent the warriors have been. And you know what i think. He's going to do the same job with princeton. He's going to make them consistent top of cincinnati at. I think he's going to do a great job. So what does that mean for witton woods. Well i don't believe the warriors have hired a new head coach yet. There are few possibilities interior. I think chad murphy's name dropped a couple of times. But i think they'll still be fine. I just i. I know when you leave somewhere that you graduated from and you coach for last decade. You know you accustomed to the kids. The players the parents and the community. Yes i know wouldn't woods is right next door to princeton which i'd never really thought about until now bought a new beginning and i think coach parker will rise to the challenge and i think he'll do some great work with the princeton vikings now already. There are the two thousand twenty one football schedules on the yuppie sports message boards yappy dot com. That's why a p p i dot com and we're gonna go ahead and pull some of those up. of course. I can't go through all of them. We'll be here all day. And i wanna make this episode quick as i can. I know i miss about three weeks of.
