So like on Friday, when we're getting ready to go to high school football games, it's actually might feel like football season. Just a little bit, Marcus. Yes, I think for Friday, I had a high of 80 to the operation. Humidity, super low lots of sunshine. It was the same date. Was this as destructive as Hurricane Katrina, Marcus. Well, here's the thing. Um, you can say yes and no, I don't know if you're ever again going to be as destructive Thankfully, Katrina was 16 years ago, and it wasn't necessarily And I'm not trying to downplay the strength of Katrina, but you have to remember Katrina was a Category three storm. Okay, That's all. I'll very large charging. Compare that to Ida, which hit of a borderline almost category five Storm yesterday. It was a Category four. So in terms of strength, especially with wind speed, Ida was stronger. The problem was with Katrina was the Complete failure of the levee system in New Orleans. And for those that don't are not familiar with the city of New Orleans. It is a lot of sea level. So if you picture kind of Like a cereal bowl. Republicans Plan to Block Infrastructure Bill

"Senator. You're on finance. So i wanted to bring up three things. The debt limit is coming. The reconciliation bill is coming and the infrastructure. Bill may or may not be coming. Let's take him in reverse order as of wednesday morning. July twenty first. What do you expect today when chuck schumer moves vote on the infrastructure so-called compromise bill so he will move to a bill with no text in fact texas not even written yet and say i want to start debate on it today and it will go down It should be pretty basic statement to say. We're not going to debate something if no one is literally not read it because it's literally not been written yet so that that's a whole new level of we've got a pass it before we know what's in it It's a point to say. Let's vote on it before we even have it written yet so that will fail. Today that allows by the way procedurally. Schumer will still be able to bring it back up whenever he wants to. Just because it fails today doesn't end it It puts it in this pause that he can bring up at any moment in the days ahead. Now expect you would try to do that again. Depending on what happens senator lankford. I have been amazed by the left right center agreement that this makes no sense for senator schumer to do. Have you discerned some master plan at work in the majority. Leader's mind that is somehow loading every reporter in dc. No the only thing i can think of is he's trying to just push it into say if this is gonna happen. Let's have it happened right now because if it's not going to happen then i wanna just cram all this same information into this giant taksin spending spree bill that they're pulling together to come up next and i think he's saying even if we're not going to get a bipartisan. Bill done Then i'm just gonna make the bill even larger and it'd be able to keep going from there so i think he's just trying to discern. Is this going to happen or not. The best i can tell quite frankly. It's a terrible way to actually legislate When you know we're working towards sixty he keeps trying to say well. We can't get to sixty. We can't get to sixty. So republicans are so recalcitrance and then he continues to do stuff like this. Were even people on the left. Say wh- what in the world. Why would you do it this way. But he'll turn around and blame republicans when it's over in the willing media will just take it up and just say yes. Republicans blocked this

"wednesday morning" Discussed on KDWN 720AM

"And good Wednesday morning. America's first news continues on this 14th Day of July. We are live this morning and taking a look at the markets. Asian shares were mostly lower Wednesday, tracking a decline here at home as investors weigh the latest quarterly earnings reports from Big companies and data pointing to rising inflation. More on that. In a moment, investors have seen surging coronavirus cases in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand as a concern. South Korea has also seen cases jump and Tokyo is reporting hundreds of new daily cases. Some experts say that could jump into the thousands in just weeks as the bubble conditions for Olympians have been compromised with Staff and athletes testing positive for the virus and those games open on July 23rd here at home on Wall Street. The benchmark S and P fell. Most of the companies in the index lost ground. Banks, industrials and companies that rely on consumer spending, accounting for a big share of the decline, But attack bucked the trend. Prices for consumers jumping in June by the most in 13 years, signaling that a swift rebound in spendings run up against widespread supply shortages. Tuesday's report from Labour showed that consumer prices in June rose 0.9% from May and five and a quarter percent over the past year. The sharpest 12 months spike since August of Oh eight The pickup will likely intensify debate between the Biden administration and congressional Republicans about how persistent inflation is, even though the Fed has made clear that their belief is the current about is temporary. San Francisco Fed president Mary Daly. I really do see this as temporary. The used car being a great example. The used car prices are simply a reflection of the of the temporary bottle. Next. We see in the new card supply because of the semiconductor chips that need to be put into the cars and also, people are going back to work and they need to get cars and there are lots of reasons why we didn't have a good supply of used cars because of the pandemic, So all of these things work themselves out, and I think the main thing to recognize is Several months of this doesn't mean that it's not transitory. Transitory is really about what factors are driving it and do is expected to continue to grow going forward, and I just don't see that happening in the used car market or the airline prices or traveling tourism more generally, all of which are really driving up the inflation numbers. Well, I think it's really premature to talk about rate increases right now we want to do the following. We need to get through the fall right. The The delta vary it being so contagious and spreading throughout the globe and actually spreading in the U. S. That's a risk. We also have just We need to open the economy fully and have kids will go back to school. See how many people we can bring back off the sidelines into the labour market, See how close we can get to our full employment mandate before we start talking about rate increases, So right now, I'm focused completely on the timing, piece and composition of asset purchases, and we'll do that. Those first and then we'll think about Okay. What's the next step? And that next step could will definitely depend on the economy. And, most importantly, on where Covid goes, which, right now? Looks to be. We're getting through it. But again, we're not through it yet daily, Making those comments to CNBC, excluding the volatile oil and gas as so called core inflation, rose 4.5% in the past year. That's the Largest increase since November of 91. Course. The Fed's response to the pandemic is the continuation following the 2000 and eight crash that involves both lowering interest rates to almost zero and creating new money and injecting it into the financial system. In a process called quantitative easing, But how long can that go on? With the biggest benefits going to Wall Street rather than Main Street? I discussed that and more with market analyst Alan Johnson. From September 29 to March 2020. The Fed pumped out more than nine trillion and below market rate loans to the trading units of the mega Wall Street banks and these repo loans. And to this day, the Fed has refused to release the names of the banks that received these funds or the amounts each bank received and it has released You know that it has released only the tallies of the loan amounts. They have yet to release the names of who they have been given this money to and they did the same maneuver back in 2000 and eight during the crash. And it battled with the media outlets for years, refusing to release the names of the recipients and amounts received And only after the Fed lost the court battle, and Senator Sanders attached an amendment to the Dodd Frank Financial reform legislation ordering a government audit of the Fed's bell out programs did the public finally learned the truth? And what which showed was the government audit showed that the Fed had funnelled 16.1 trillion and cumulative loans to wall Street banks and their foreign counter parties without the awareness of Congress. But that audit covered only some of the Fed spell out programs. There was a more complete comprehensive analysis of the Fed's bailouts by the love. The economics institutes that showed the full tab was at 29 trillion and cumulative blocks. Remember. I said this over and over and over. Many governments, including the United States go so far as to create inflation, and by creating inflation, it becomes a key factor of which is to help them to destroy. The dollar and appreciate the debt and they do it by hyperinflation. Well, we've seen inflation now like back in 2000 and eight were just now right now start to see it really rise up. For now. Price increases are running ahead of the wage gains that have kicked in this year, which means the financial burdens on millions of households have grown more difficult. Average hourly earnings increased 3.6% in June compared with a year earlier, normally a solid gain but of course, far less than current inflation. Ham track CEO William Flynn says plans to spend 7.3 billion on 83 new trains to replace some that are 50 years old will speed up travel, make it more comfortable and will help clean the environment..

"America. First News with Matt Ray and Good Wednesday morning. America's first news continues on the 17th day of March. FN markets this morning an Asian shares. Fallon muted trading Wednesday as world markets Cautiously away the U. S central bank's latest assessment on the economy. Japan's Nikkei inching down less than 0.1%. South Korea's Kospi slipped slightly to Australia's was down to Hong Kong is hang, say, edging lower 0.1% investors as I mentioned awaiting the Fed reserves, economic and interest rate projections expected later today, and now economists expect Fed had Jerome Powell will try to convince a jittery financial markets that the central bank can continue providing support without igniting inflation. Those worries of recently pushed bond yields higher, sapping buying demand for shares. I talked to Alan Johnson with United Gold Group, a sponsor of a F and about the inflation risk, and Monetary policy. And, of course, that diversifying you know, we're seeing inflation now at the gas pumps are seeing it at the grocery stores and what this means is what we were talking about before. Is our money is becoming worth a lot less. And you know the question. Is this. How prepared are you for an inflationary reality, replacing a rig system of the Central bank fantasy Fed policymakers. It's got their attention. The question. Alan is where is the tipping point for them on inflation, So the Fed can use this thing they called yield curve control, and what that does is that represses the rates And that can actually lie about inflation. But as commodity prices keep climbing, getting higher, and more money is being printed. And like I said, you know, physical spending we've been talking about this goes directly into infrastructure. And spending and direct checks to Main Street rather than just Wall Street. We now have money, circulation and money supply increases. So off course, all of these forces that are being done point toward a rising inflation rate that even the Fed are no longer going to be able to hide. Despite their what I call mathematical magic or dishonesty of its inflation reporting and as inflation rates out Case repressed yields, which are negative real rates. They increase in speed as well. The price rising gold currently feeling the pinch of temporarily high real yields, so informed investors should therefore.

"You on this Wednesday morning. It's first and last on ESPN radio and the ESPN app before I get into some baseball talk for a few minutes. Want to update you on some college basketball action from last night Zion? Williamson played so of course when Zairean plays. We update you on what he did. But before I get into Williamson. There were some decent upsets last night. Illinois who is now eight and fifteen on the season four and eight and conference play. They beat number nine Michigan state last night, seventy nine seventy four as you would imagine you had the fans stormed the court after that win so Illinois with the big upset of the Spartans last night. But that wasn't the only upset Marquette lost Marquette lost at home. If you don't know about Marquette, they're ranked tenth in the country. And they lose to Saint Johns. Saint John's wins seventy to sixty nine. They had a big first half. They were up ten at the half forty two thirty Saint John's approves the seventeen and six now there are five and five in big east play. And then you also at Kansas state, which really wasn't an upset because Kansas state is in the conversation. They're up there in the in the big twelve right at the top. But they Kansas last night. They beat Kansas seventy four sixty seven. So you had the number thirteenth team in the country lose to an unranked Kansas state. You have the number ten team in the country. Marquette lose to an unranked Saint John's, and you have the ninth team in the country. Michigan state lose to an eight and fourteen before the game tipped off actually seven and fifteen. Sorry. Bad math, seven and fifteen align I team. So some some crazy things happening in college basketball last night. And you might think that Duke was in trouble. They were actually down by two they were playing at home against Boston College and they were down by two at the half thirty to twenty eight but they had a giant Norma second half. They outscored the eagles fifty two to twenty five in the second half Duke wins eighty two fifty five Zairean Williamson finishes with sixteen points, seventeen boards and three dimes. You're a college, basketball and most importantly Ziad. On Williamson update is brought to you by. Wendy's proud sponsor of the two thousand nineteen John r wooden player of the year. Let's get into some baseball. Last week. I was sitting down in Atlanta at radio row amongst the circus with the hundreds and hundreds of people running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I'm down at Atlanta radio and Kristaps Porzingis gets traded. To the Dallas Mavericks, and I remember saying during that week right doing radio down there. And I said it usually takes a big story to knock the Super Bowl off the docket. Now is still talk about the Super Bowl because you have guest after guest after guest walking through again, put the tent over the circus. But when you get to radio you understand that ninety five percent most years ninety to ninety five percent of what you do is going to be based on the Super Bowl. The NBA changed that last week with the porzingas trade in also the Anthony Davis. Rumors the NBA actually took a step over the NFL for at least a day or two on radio row, and you hardly ever see that in when you pull back, and you look at the big picture, and we always talk about the sports calendar, the NFL and the NBA when you combine those two leagues they own the sports calendar. Think about it you go from the Super Bowl to the NBA trading deadline to NFL free agency to the NFL draft to the NBA playoffs to the NBA draft. And then you get ready for training camp. And you start all over again when you kick off the football season NFL NBA, they each own the calendar and combined. It's just a joke. It's an embarrassment of riches for those two leagues. Meanwhile, major league baseball. The MLB not quite there. I would say major league baseball owns like two weeks of the sports calendar, and that's the World Series. If it's a good series. If people are interested in that series. They own about two weeks of the calendar. You look at the baseball season. And you will hear this from many people including myself. It's too long. They've cut they have to cut at least twenty games off the season that that's not a new take. That's almost to the point of being captain obvious nowadays. So you've got the long season. Even baseball fans, some of them at least wait until I dunno July, August to start really paying attention right around the trading deadline to see what your team is going to do. I'm a hardcore baseball guy when I was growing up number one sport in my life. When I was younger. I it's faded a little bit to the back over the last ten fifteen years, but I still watch it. I'm still invested. I'm still involved. But even I I'm not going to sit at home and watch games during the summer, you know, summer night, I'm going to do something else. So MLB is already dealing with some of those issues, and we know those issues pacing the game. You've heard it all. The one saving grace that really got baseball fans. Excited was the hot stove. Oh, yeah. The hot stove, right? Pull up a seat right next to that hot stove and read all the rumors and watch all of the television coverage of the winter meetings. The winter meetings used to be a big deal the winter meetings used to be something that you couldn't wait for as a baseball fan. That was the thing that was the drama until you get into September and October the drama with baseball was all about the off season. It was all about the winter meetings. It was all about what was going to happen in December. Now when you look at it the hot stove no longer exists in the off season, the winsor meetings this year were a dud. And when you look at it you have Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, we're talking about two studs in the game. Two studs at the age of twenty six entering their prime. Two of the best in baseball entering their prime. We're about a week away from spring training in those guys are still unemployed. Now think about that an MBA terms. Could you ever imagine a top ten NBA player? Could you ever? Imagine James harden being a free agent in seemingly no one talking about it. No one's really talking about Harper Machado. We got to the point last week at the San Diego Padres were brought up as a possible destination for Harper. That's where we got with this situation. You have two studs to all star players to superstars in the league right to superstars of their sport. Both free agents at the age of twenty six. In no one saying anything nothing is happening. Could you imagine? If that was the NFL could you imagine if that was the NBA morning, noon and night, we'd be talking about. Remember, what happened with Gordon Hayward a couple summers ago? For the July. Is he going to Boston is he not going to Boston that whole crazy story on Twitter nonstop. That was Gordon Hayward. He was like a top twenty top twenty five player at the time. We're talking about Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. In the market is lifeless between the luxury tax and teams worrying about how the luxury tax is going to creep into their future planning. In the fact that most long-term big-money deals don't work for positional players. Alex Rodriguez didn't stay with the Texas Rangers. You can look at you know, all these other guys pool halls you can look at. You know, all these other big deals Giancarlo Stanton. Getting traded to the Yankees, these big money deals long-term. They don't work for teams so between the luxury tax and that the market is dead. In baseball is not getting the kind of heat that it needs to in the off season to actually be thing. We used to rely on the hot stove to give us something the winter meetings to give us something in right now to superstars markets dead. It's giving us nothing baseball owns about two weeks of the sports calendar coming up Antonio Brown. Doesn't seem to be interested in staying out of the news. He's always in the news..

It will be a steel barrier rather than a concrete wall. This barrier is absolutely critical to border security. It's also what our professionals at the border want ended. This is just common sense, the border wall would very quickly pay for itself the cost of illegal drugs exceeds five hundred billion dollars a year. Vastly more than the five point seven billion dollars. We have requested from congressional the wall will also be paid for indirectly by the great new trade deal. We have made with Mexico. Senator Chuck Schumer who you will be hearing from later tonight has repeatedly supported a physical barrier in the past along with many other Democrats, they changed their mind only after I was elected president. We address you tonight. For one reason only the president of the United States having failed to get Mexico to pay for his ineffective unnecessary border wall and unable to convince the congress or the American people to.
