"Wdbo 73 FM am 5 80 can't wait for that keyword to the wdbo paper. Roll payout. It's coming up at eight o'clock. This morning. 6 39 Now Scott and as well, you happy Tuesday, everybody. Orlando's Morning news on Wdbo one. Oh 73 FM and am 5 80 Voters at California going to the polls today decide whether Governor Gavin Newsom should be recalled or not. We go in depth because we love it when you guys understand the stories would tell you about every day. Like to NBC News radio's national correspondent Rory O. Neill, and hard to imagine Rory, a Republican governor of the Great State of California, And yet there is some folks who believe that you know, despite some of the polls that we're seeing right now, I don't believe any polls after what we went through for four plus years ago. I don't believe any of the polls. But there are some folks that Believe that Larry Elder has a real shot to oust, Uh, governor of the state of California that has dominated mainly by Democrats. Right, And so let's set up the election. There are just two questions. The first question is, Should Gavin Newsom be recalled as governor of California Now, if a majority says Yes, then question we go to question two, which has 46 different candidates on the list, and the person with the highest vote total of those 46 is the next governor. So with 28% of the vote, that's roughly the poll. Uh, Larry Elder could become the next governor of California. If there are enough people who answer question one saying that yes. Devolution should be recalled. So what does it say that President Biden made a special trip out there to Cali yesterday to go on the stunt for Governor Newsom here, Rory. Well, you know, a month ago, it looked a lot more like Governor. Newsom was in trouble. But as Larry Elder's seemed to be solidified as the lead replacement Things started to fall into Newsom's favor. So yeah, it's significant that both the president and vice president made trips out to California to help rally support for news. Um, but the latest polls suggest that perhaps do some should carry the day. Now. It's interesting. I should point out. A lot of these ballots will be mail in ballots, so it's tougher to estimate. Exactly who's going to actually bother voting. That's one of the big concerns. Every registered voter in California got a mail in ballot. They just went out, so we'll have to see who returns. So what are the chances? We get a challenge to the recall here in a day or so. Well, right. So that's what's next former President Trump saying. You know, how can anyone believe the results of the California election? So he's already throwing shade on this? Larry Elder was asked if he would, you know? Concede if he loses to today, and he wouldn't really confirm or deny anything about the results of the election, So they're already casting aspersions on it. We're probably not going to get a result tonight. It may take a couple of days because the ballots just have to be postmarked by today. So it's unclear how many ballots will come trickling in over the next seven days. All right, we'll keep our eye on it all day. Thank you so much. Rory will talk to you tomorrow, okay? Thanks, Scott. Great. You bet. And NBC news Radio's national correspondent Rory O Neill at 6 42. Now, Wdbo. Let's get five day forecast for you brought to you by pro tech air conditioning and plumbing services. Is her chief meteorologist, Tom Terry. Good morning, Scott. We are where we normally are this time of September and the very muggy low to mid seventies. We're gonna be back into the low nineties today about a 40% storm chance between two and around five p.m., and that's our best rain chance again on Wednesday. We're still looking at an uptick in rain chances, though probably 60% rain coverage for Thursday and Friday, possibly been into the start of the weekend as we're continuing to see a lot of moisture streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico. Some of that Will come from what's left of Nicholas, which was right on the Upper Texas coast late last night and earlier this morning. As the sixth hurricane in the Atlantic season. They've had some heavy rain. We're going to see our rain chances here not directly from the system, but just coming overall increase in our rain chances By the end of this week, they extended five day forecast four times an hour. I'm Tom Terry. Tom. Right now you see if it's 78, I've got 77 Orlando Severe weather station. Safe touch Security. Triple team traffic school live to Air one. If you're on north bound by 35, you can get through all the other roads are forced to make a turn as you approach that intersection I for Paul. "Wdbo 173 FM and am 5 80. There are just hours now. Before tomorrow's gubernatorial recall election there in California. Will Governor Gavin Newsom a hold on? Let's head to Los Angeles now serene. Shah joins us early in the morning for use during We appreciate it and And I know you sat down with both Gavin Newsom and the leading opponent, Larry Elder here recently. The polls say that nuisance it's Newsom's race to lose here, but look we've got we've got the vice president showing up last week. We got President Biden showing up in California today, which does tell you that there may be a high level of concern for Democrats in a very Democrat dominated state out there. Yes, the way. Good morning Gavin me the way that his team has explained it is based on their polling many months ago, they did not see a persuasion issue. They saw an awareness issue that some of the angriest people were the Republican voters in this state. And that the Democrats, you know were, you know, not really just even aware that there was a recall going on. But there was sort of, of course, far less angry and used him and his policies and what he had done, especially with Covid. And so they want to make sure their words every willing breathing. California knows that there there is an election on Tuesday like this. This is not a normal pint for us to have an election. So that is why they say that they're bringing out. You know some of the big names you've seen The Barack Obama ad. Bernie Cannons also have been at for him. It wasn't worn in town, you know. Last week, Vice President Khama Harish. Uh, of course I'm not buying event will be drink a big chunk of the day today in Northern California and in Long Beach. So that is how they're thinking about this. They want people to at least know that there is an election and they feel that if everyone knows, uh, that is going to go their way because this is one of the bluest states in the country. You know you have only about 24% of folks were Republican. And then roughly about half or a Democrat, and I know again you talked with Newsome and Larry Elder. Both have indicated they're ready for legal challenges. So, um, you know, we we've got the election. The recall tomorrow and then who knows what happens? I know. Larry Elder was asked repeatedly if he would accept the results of Tuesday's election. And he kind of avoided answering that question, Didn't he? Yeah, I asked him over and over and over again, Would you accept the results of Tuesday's election, and you know, I wish we could talk about, you know, uh, my campaign I was talking about, and he kept deflecting. Um in various ways and then towards the end, that was really important. Um, he said, you know, so many people are going to have So many people are going to vote to have it. We called. I'm not worried about fraud and essentially the day if you read between the lines, you know, beautiful thing as long as the governor's recall the election of legitimate but a museum is not recalled, which is a very likely outcome that somehow evidence of fraud. Now. Newsom team was asked about specifically that Trump's comments last week. What comes to you know what your fried in California and the comments he had made, and they said, just very simply that they are compared prepared for illegal fights, so we'll see what happens on Tuesday night. Look, if you believe the polls and some may not, um, but recent polling about that recall there in California, Uh, has Newsome at 56.2% of voters said they'll they'll keep him a 4% increase from last Week. That's according to Fivethirtyeight, so We'll see what happens tomorrow. Appreciate your time serene. Thank you. That's Karen Shaw live from Los Angeles. It's 8 43 now, Wdbo, Scott says. With your time for the five day it's brought to you by the great folks protect air conditioning and plumbing services. Here's a meteorologist Rusty McRaney. The president cited the quick collapse of Afghan security forces and said the U. S. Could not provide them the will to fight sharp criticism by Republicans for the Taliban takeover and Biden's reaction. Here's Senator Marco Rubio. They operated under assumptions that we're completely ridiculous. The assumption was well what if the Afghans stand up and fight and really push back? If you make those assumptions, Yeah, they could have held on for another six months or a year. But all the indications were that as soon as the US announced they were leaving, police officers would abandon post. Regular armed forces would abandon post and leaders would abandon the country. That is exactly what happened is what they were told that they were warned. What happened? They didn't care, and now we see the consequences of it. U. S military troops have maintained control of the Kabul airport, but the situation is chaotic as thousands of Afghans try to flee the country. This is W. De vo, where

"WDBO. Mark lean band camp show. I'm David van camp. That is Scott Robinson for Jamie Markley for the remainder of the week. President Trump is talking about the government shutdown saying the five billion dollars approved by the house is such a small amount compared to the level of the problem at the border. And he's making the case now about how much we give out in foreign aid, which foreign aid has been an important part of what the United States does. But when you stack it up like we had the story a couple of weeks ago when you're sending ten billion dollars to southern Mexico and Central America. But you're not willing to pay five billion dollars to build up a portion of wall on your own border doesn't make sense to a whole lot of people know that seems to be I understand the theory at least behind us, which is you send money to help fix problems there. So that they don't want to come here. But you also can't be everybody's babysitter. And at a certain point you got to start taking care of yourself to. And that's the point. He's making will have that audio for you coming up at the bottom. Of the hours. Well, I do want to point out one more thing. I am. I am. I'm really tired of talking about Elizabeth Warren today, I promise no more. But this has just been pointed out pointed out to me. And I have to think this is on purpose. There may be a little bit of trolling going on here. But apparently, Elizabeth Warren is going to be visiting bona vista Iowa, you know, she's going with this weekend to stump a little bit. As part of this exploratory committee now where when a vista is situated in Iowa. Is between the counties of Cherokee and Pocahontas? Boy. You have to think that that was something that she was hoping somebody would point out. Is. I mean, do you think they're doing this on purpose? I hope so I mean, I would they'd have to. Who goes to point vista Iowa on? There you go you go around, and you tried it. But if that's going to be one of the first stopping point. Cedar. Rapids coca hana's county, either, you know. Just kind of funny to me, she's in Boca on his county, a guy I hope that. It's I really hope that that's on purpose. They're give me a beer in Polk. We could have saved this for nimrods in the news coming up in about half an hour. But I do want to get your take on this story guy in Gladstone, just south of Portland. Was arrested for trying to steal a bike. That was locked up at the door of the police station in Gladstone. They caught it on surveillance video. This has been making the rounds. Now, the footage shows the guy wearing a mask because he cuts the lock off the bike with a bolt cutter. Just before sergeant Mack Matt ochre walks out to confront him started. Carl bell told ABC news. It's dumb. You know, I've not actually seen something that blatant because officers were inside watching on camera watching him as he's outside of the police bolt. Cutter was bolt cutter stealing a bike right in front of you have to think he wanted to get caught right? Now, they asked him why you try to steal a bike. That's right in front of a police station. The suspect didn't answer. So he's been charged with daft criminal mischief in a felony possession of weapons. So, you know, adding to it too at all he'd been found guilty of drug possession about four years ago. And he was released the next day after setting up later court date, of course, people stealing bikes. Not a rare thing at all happens. All the time every day. It's just he did it at this time that kind of caught everyone off guard is what one of the cops said makes us chuckle a little bit. Because you wouldn't think that someone would do something that stupid and blatant? Well, he's forming an exploratory committee right now. To run for public office. That's right. There you go and exploratory committee to how to find out exactly how to steal bikes a little bit about the bikes Emeka steel bike. I mean, there's tons of places steal bikes. Yeah. You gotta select that either that or you're thinking to yourself. Well, they'll never think somebody stealing a bike from bullies. Dan. Right. Yeah. You would think that? Well, maybe he he thought it was the perfect crime. Yeah. Right. One would ever think. Yeah. I just lost the key to the lock or something like that. Did you see this story from New York Times? I'm sorry. Failing New York Times former executive editor Jill Abramson. She's putting out a book called merchants of truth. It's about the business incentives. That are driving the news industry that a lot of times wind up driving the outrage machine instead of just informing people of what's going on in and around the world in around the area where you might live. Howard, Kurtz on Fox News, excuse me, published a review of this. And apparently, she goes after her successor at the failing New York Times saying that he's endangering the times credibility by boosting their readership with constant catering to anti-trump ordinances. It is rare to see somebody who is that open and honest about what motivates the news media cases. Yes. Even here. It's the New York Times. Right. And she saying, yeah, it looks like they are just overwhelmingly going negative on the president. And it's not that the president is perfect and did not that he doesn't deserve criticism from time to time. But it goes so far above what is necessary a lot of times, and I made the case right after the election. When you had well riots going on you had I'm sorry. They were mostly peaceful protests. Yes. With a few bad apples and started people accosted in abused. Yes. I mean, that's what democracy looks does. After all. And I made the case at the time. You know, if everything is so outrageous, nothing is outrageous and people get numb to it. All and I think that's what's happened in a lot of cases Trump because everything is so turned up to eleven in the coverage of Donald Trump that when he does do something that deserves criticism. A lot of us kind of sit back and say, yeah. But you said this was the beginning of the end of the presidency when he tweeted at meeker Brzezinski, right? And this is the thing I hate, man. This is the thing. I hate the most we have we have taken words that had power engine. Just just destroyed them. They don't mean anything anymore when somebody's outraged. They're outraged every day about everything. Yeah. It loses. Power racism racist. Misogynist, homophobic, whatever whatever names are hurled at you. These words have no meaning anymore. They used to carry substance to them. They had no substance anymore. Everybody is everything. Yeah. Based on their political affiliation. Then we've got a problem with a border wall is is just racist riot. All it is right. Yeah. You've kind of lost the plot. No power to that word. Doesn't mean anything. It means everything now. So I'm not affected by it. Or you know, when making fun of Elizabeth Warren for lying about her heritage. Yes is considered racist. Somehow. Yes. Well, yeah. And she's the one that lied about it. Yeah. Who's the racist? Here. That's Cowley go out of things to get to still yet to come with. Well, we got to get to the audio of President Trump. He's still rolling maze rolling, man. And he's saying we are willing to include dreamers. If it means I get a wall he has made that point before. And I wonder if the Democrats will actually try to take him up on that. I think they should. Yeah. Well, because this is the best chance you got with President Trump to get a Bill for the dreamers, and he wants a wall that seems like an even trade what's wrong with that. Get the border wall, you get increased border.
