"The injury hits. Just keep on coming for the mets noah. Syndergaard has been shut down for at least six weeks. The quote from luis rojas manager the sits big counting on being a month from now. This happening is tough. We pray he can pitch for us this year. I'm going to be talking with carl. Why i kinda wonder if that's even a possibility. New York Mets vs Miami Marlins game ends in controversy

"New york. Yesterday we saw one of the biggest controversies early in the early season. The mets in the marlins. What a game. This was in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jeff mcneil came to the plate for the mets with new york. Down by run may play mcneil to pull the outfield three. And one the count bass to the belp. Here's the pitch swing a fly ball to right field. Well hit to fall back still going at the track. That's gone mcneil. Doesn't he leads off the bottom of the night with the game tied holder. And this baby's all even to the mets would go on and load the bases two outs michael conforto at the plate. Here's the call. On the marlins radio network now the one to forte three called it got him in the arm. No now they're going to send them to first base. He hit him with the pitch and the ball games over the opening up our initially signaled strike three then he said no it hit them. Don mattingly's out to argue. The mets are celebrating. "WCBS you know every household benefits from having a home security system if they have cannot benefit from a home security system however if you do not have one hello why don't you have one well the odds are you think they're too expensive and a cost benefit analysis you'll say I haven't ever been broken into and since I haven't been broken into why should I make the investment all of that's understandable but the primary reason is it's just it's it's it's so expensive in addition to the other things the site survey somebody comes out goes to your house tell you where to put all the stuff the centers and then they tell you how that's going to happen in a run wire their wires at once we have miles of wire in your house and then they give it a cost quote and use wall G. we'll see none of that is relevant anymore because of a company called simply safe simply saves invented innovated a wireless home security system that is just as effective as providing protection at a fraction of the cost that's because simply safe uses wifi instead of wires I cannot emphasize enough how much taking the wires out of the home security system takes the complexity out of it the expense out of it the simplicity that there's ring that that's installed it's just it just makes it more efficient easier to troubleshoot problems the main thing it does is eliminate so much cost the game changer eliminating the wires eliminating the installation crews the maintenance service contracts eliminate all that you're adding up to big savings now once you install simply safe in your home you can do it in an apartment in a condominium you can do it anywhere you're able to do this installation yourself and believe me it's not complicated don't be intimidated by the if you can stick things on windows you can do this if you can put a camera some Porter in a room where you want to see what you want to see same thing with motion detectors or glass break sensors within the thing about that you'll have an intimate awareness of your system because of this and it won't be something that intimidate you scares you or makes you think that you can't interact with you can there's also twenty four seven monitoring is only fourteen ninety nine a month not fifty there's no contract to sign so if you're thinking about a home security system take away the number one limiting factor and that's cost you'll be amazed how much this does not cost especially the way I describe your problem again ma'am this thing goes set.

"Twenty twenty annual meeting the one hundredth annual meeting the EMS in Boston. And I'm here with Craig Allen and Todd Glickman both of WCBS am in in New York City and todd. We go way back because you were also at one time and Ams Guru and still are what is this. How many meetings does this for you now? Awesome about plus or minus fortieth annual meeting. All right you're pretty incredible. Good for you but it's more than I've got under my belt I'm I'm hoping to get there because I really enjoy this experience. I get to meet people on crazy. You haven't even met before so it was the first time. Yeah so What are you thinking that you you said? You've been to a bunch of enemies before just under a dozen I think but you know starting out back when we did one in Waikiki. In Eighty five I will never forget that one. I think that was my first but The one thing that I noticed about this one. This is obviously very different. Because I go to the broadcast conventions where we have of what type two fifty three hundred at a time. There's over fifty five hundred people here from all walks of the A. M. S.. So I found that a little a bit overwhelming when I first got in to see this. The the the exhibit floor just blew me away. I had take a picture as soon as I walked in here to see all the exhibits down there so This is pretty remarkable. It really really is congratulations to the ems for being able to pull this off have so far. We're all kind of blown away. I I mean we're actually close close to six thousand right now with a record. Todd you probably remember the numbers from the eighties and stuff. It was show and tell you I worked on the staff of AMS for nineteen eighteen ninety three to two thousand thesis in Executive Director. And I was part of the team that thought about. What do we do for the hundredth anniversary and our then meetings The director yelled Shiffman. signed the contracts for the Convention Center this week back then twenty plus years ago and Dr Recall our then executive director to cauldron getting really worried he said there is going to be the biggest blizzard epic and the members won't be able to get there. They're gonNA want their money back. WE'RE GONNA lose our shirts. They're going to be angry at us and look what happened. Two days. Seventy degrees seventy degrees. You know that's that's pretty pretty remarkable because I was worrying about that too. I'm from New York. Obviously we do. WCBS and I was so worried that at some point I would have to either take my broadcast equipment up here with me and actually do it from the hotel room because no one would hope but But on the other hand he just turned out so so remarkable to be walking around the city on Sunday. Seventy four though you know it snowed yesterday morning I felt because just hotel evacuation and we were standing out on the streets six thirty in the morning. How now let's snowflakes right then? Shivers in my pajamas. But Hey I think it's remarkable. They did cogburn green. Got That forecast wrong. Yes which tells me that. We still have a credibility problem in this field if we can't predict whether thirty it's six thousand people cry writing. That was maybe fifteen hundred. You'd be closing in two thousand something like then no idea so with such a big media. How do you decide what to do? Because you're still you still got a broadcast conference in Badger in the And there's still over two hundred broadcasters here what's compels you first of all outside the broadcast tracks so to speak Local local weather in other words the ones that dealt with thunderstorms the ones that deal with Winter Storms. I've walked into those a lot more frequently than some of the more. How do I put this more scientifics? The more the more physics oriented ones the ones that are geared more towards what I will need to use on the. That's what I've done so far and todd you know. He's he's still running around trying to organize everything. Southbound I've been very interested in aviation meteorology so I try and catch some of those also have a student. I'm supporting through a scholarship and east giving a talk today in the research to operate in session and I hope to get over to that as well so just try to dabble into a a couple of different things over interesting now. You also have another hat that you wear With MIT rate is that. Is that still a GIG. The got that's The full-time Gay guy directly corporate relations office and MIT were large corporations rather world invest in research at the university. So it's not just atmospheric science anything biotechnology biotechnology to data technology. So I'm exposed a lot of science and engineering over there but Meteorology still my my look what he wears a third third hat. Oh No oh yes. It's a train conductors that for for trolleys for for the New York City. Subways for every transit system. Here in the northeast these he. Where's that had to celebrate transit with one to one scale model tree? We'll I one of the things that scaling so much. Cheer at the meeting as Artificial intelligence some which. I'm sure. Yes I t's see a lot of that growing in the corporate world to I it in a way. Don't just do you find that what you're seeing at an ems conference more and more mirrors. The advanced technologies and and Let's say research directions that you're seeing in other fields. I think we're ahead. Because look at the birth of numerical modeling Really came out of our field. The ability to use high-powered computers Significant data sets big data was invented by meteorology and now other professions and other other industries are striving to figure out what they do with. The Internet of things is a big data problem. We've had that problem for decades. Tried to get all the sensor systems into the supercomputers and give the mesh smaller and be able to get out that people could use. Because we've been dealing with those problems for decades other industries are now starting to face. Well Craig that kind of brings up another point. which is that big? Data's been the field for so long. But you guys is being broadcast. Meteorologists are the ones you have to figure out how to take that big picture. The big the big data. Will you turn it into some kind of story right. I mean that's that's the that's the challenge probably the most The thing that's changed the most since todd and ice started is that we used to take that data and it came out on maps that we then how to draw on and we had to make our own conception we had to come up with some kind of an idea of after drawing and plotting in where the moisture is what the winds are at this level. It's all done for US already. You like everything is is color coded. It's it's already there so I think that has made the profession easier and yet on the other hand and eight has made it Made some a little to lax. That's my personal opinion in other words. It's there oh I see green coming along long. For Twelve Z. Tomorrow go with showers. That's a little too simplified in the in the old days so to speak We used to have to see why right there were showers coming towards us. Not here showers coming towards us because this is what the the N. G. Back. Yeah that's right that's right. You get the idea of what I'm talking about machine gene. You're right but that's It's still a matter of Putting together a lot of different sources of information right and a lot of which is another big data data that's all right researchers and for us. Well actually we're going to speak on. What should we use and tell me how which one which model I should I should use that? That's the topic of speech coming advisor. Mit said back when we started using tomorrow models this guidance. This is what you have to help you solve the problem with this is not the Gospel and today we see a lot of broadcasters put the output of the model on TV point to and say this is. What's going to happen? And what Craig and I are going to talk about in our presentation and the very short while is that the viewers and listeners. WanNa know what you think. They don't want to know what the numerical models say that they're competing and fighting. They wanted.

"Now more of the weekly well three four with your host him heard on pop radio six eighty WCBS welcome back W. C. B. M. listeners and investors Tim Herbert RBC wealth management for the weekly wealth report but you already know that because I talk about that it seems like each and every break energies myself my firm my team and they show but just in case something happens to tune in why it seems a little bit repetitive is because if somebody's tuning in middle of the show and doesn't know who's on the air hasn't listen to this weekly wealth report before I want to know who we are who I am and this show again runs every Sunday from eleven to twelve here one six eighty A. M. sometimes we have open up the phone lines other times we don't because we talk about a lot of information in here and here and I think it's best to try to kind of I'll provide you all with as much data and insight as kind of as we wind down this calendar year two thousand nineteen right before the break I was talking about what's going on right now and again this whole impeachment what impeachment means what takes place next and so and and how to kind of view things and as as it relates to the market and that's what I said before the break is that we need to put political angst and biases aside when it comes to investing the media both mainstream and alternative varieties when each and of the spectrum is is quite adept at in inflating the importance of US presidential elections right yeah and I mean while the person occupying the oval office certainly has great influence and can help or maybe hinder the country's economic progress and maybe the overall direction many other factors also determine our United States asset class returns I'm talking when I say asset class we're talking about stocks bonds real estate so financial market performance has greater linkages to the state of the business cycle also corporate earnings and monetary policy more so than it does to the actions that emanate from the White House and Capitol Hill but so many people let that deter their decision making process when it comes to investing and I think it's I think it's interesting I mean the fed actually has a bigger influence on recessions and recoveries in our economy then the president does at least in our view at RBC wealth management RBC capital markets so we advise investors not to allow the roar of next year's two thousand twenty election coverage to really get in the way of what should be hopeful you have this already sound portfolio management where this whole impeachment process the other thing to point out is that trade tussles may yet again you know we have that phase one deal which seem to kind of relief things temporarily trade tussles may yet again create volatility and with the US China phase one deal and even now after two point no almost completed all other trade and sanctions issues could probably jostle the stock market at times next year and we need to be aware of that I mean the UK and European Union trade agreement related to brexit may probably be the toughest not to crack when we look at the global economy I mean in this connection trade tensions and uncertainties can impact a regional growth and thus the global economy there could be more strains as I said earlier in the program in the US China trade and business relationships as well at some point next year in two thousand twenty there are also resolve trade issues between the US and the European Union related to automobiles and aircraft subsidies and between the US and Japan also one automobiles so all this it could probably play out and be pushed kind of a kick the can getting kicked him on the road next year to two thousand twenty and last but not least is the hobbled state of the world trade organization's appellate body trade battles have been a cornerstone a cornerstone of president Donald trump's agenda and we'd be surprised if he reverts to a quiet posture how would you offer would you all be surprised if president Donald Trump reverts to a quiet posture heading into the November twenty twenty election right and the final thing to point out as an investor you need to be aware of complacency the problem is that as the economic cycle wears on and this equity bull market persists and you hear me talk about on a Sunday program how the markets hit new all time highs again as this continues to persist this news flow what happens complacency tends to set in so we encourage investors to remain I keep using this word vigilant the late stage of the current economic business cycle often brings with it challenges for the economy and the financial markets and the stock market is specially stocks when they're least expected and that's where I keep saying that you need to use this opportunity to in advance issue in your investment portfolio accordingly.
