"And radio. I'm David Weston throughout the program we were talking about the reaction to that OPEC plus decision yesterday. And what The White House has done about it for that matter. Let me turn down to somebody who really knows an awful lot about the oil patch. She's representative Kevin Brady of Texas. Is the Republican ranking member of the House ways and means committee. So congressman, thanks for being with us. What should the U.S. reaction be to what OPEC plus announced yesterday? Yeah, so David, thanks for having me on. So first, you know, I'd or Joe peck not to do these production cuts either. I think couldn't come at a worse time in my view both globally and on prices, but look, this is a little bit predictable. The president went all in on the Green New Deal here in the U.S. really has discouraged more production. Certainly investment in production. And I think his standing in the world is low right now inside they don't see any consequences for this. So I think the obvious solution is to traverse the policies really drive more maximize American energy production, cut permitting, allow these leases. That sends a huge signal. The last thing I would do if I were president would be to negotiate with the dictator like Maduro, you know, who sided for killing and torturing political allies, you know, considering him an ally in energy is simply morally wrong financially wrong as well. We've got the resources here in the U.S.. Was it a mistake for President Biden to go over there and visit with The Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman? I mean, there are some people in Congress today who are saying, you know, we should really take a fresh look at our relationship with Saudi Arabia. You know, I think the president took a fresh look at it. I think that he, for some reason, gambled, you know, that he did not have to have and build that U.S. relationship. They snubbed him in, I think that was predictable as well. You know, never heard to make those trends but certainly he came back empty handed and now there are no consequences. And again, I think the president could do more harm because he's looking now at banning exports of energy from the U.S. at a time our allies need this, especially in Europe as they're trying to wean themselves from Russia's dependence. So I think we're in a bind of his making. Congressman, let me ask you just one question about politics in the midterms. They're coming up now. If, in fact, that Republicans take back over the house. What does that mean for the ways and means committee? I mean, you're not going to go back to being chairman because you decided not to run again. What is the ways and opinions we're going to go look like? Do you have a candidate for your successor? Yeah, so we've got three very good candidates for chairmanship. I'm really confident. We have a deep bench and the committee as well. So really pretty confident. And I actually excited about what the ways means committee will look like last year. We will lead the efforts to strengthen America's economy. So you'll see a push for less government spending, less taxes and less regulation to drive up inflation. You'll see a push for more American made energy. More workers and certainly more effort to get this economy stabilized. Okay, thank you so much, congressman. Always a pleasure at you with us. That's represented by Kelly Brady. Republican of the state of Texas. Check out our balance upon our newsletter that's on the terminal also online. Coming up bounce apart continues on Bloomberg radio in our second hour. We're going to talk to Alan Dershowitz about former president Trump's taking his documents case to the Supreme Court of the United States. This is balance of power on Bloomberg television and on radio.

you and that's a Bloomberg business flash Tom and Paul Karen thanks so much Karen Great to have you back Thanks Three or four weeks It takes these long breaks and who knows where she goes Tucker was shadow Oh I know Yeah Don't like a day This felt like a day Karen thank you so much best day to checks Literally without exaggeration in the world Post training in time keen Right now Chris cassani joins us MAI capital Chris yield up price down bear market and bonds What do equity do What the equities do when a given index is down 8% in a bond world Oh I'm sorry Yeah we've got to I'm sorry Let me bring in Emily because I thought we had we do But we have Emily Wilkins is on She was talking taxes I think mister Biden is talking about taxing the billionaires Emily a 20% tax on billionaires It sounds good to me I'm not in that camp but it sounds like a revenue source to me What's the story Yeah it is going to be a new source 360 billion billion is the amount that the government expects to get in revenue If this goes into effect And this is part of the larger budget proposal that The White House is putting out today Obviously Congress that the one thing they got to do every year is past money to fund the government and that all begins when The White House sends their proposal to Congress Now usually Congress takes a look at this proposal and goes okay well that's very nice mister president and then goes off and does their own thing But it's a good way to sort of get a sense of where The White House stands and what the administration is thinking And what president Joe Biden is thinking right now is that he needs to start appealing to more moderate Democrats You're seeing a very fiscally conservative budget for democratic president the request is going to show a 1 trillion reduction in deficit spending over the coming decade It's going to go down 1.3 trillion from this year alone and a key part of this is this so called billionaire minimum income tax The only reason I introduced Christopher sante instead of Emily Wilkins is I finally discovered someone with a bracket worse than mine exactly Emily good morning I'm so sorry to not introduce you in the proper Bloomberg surveillance way The quiet word here Emily will be W wealth tax is that what they're talking about a wealth tax Well I mean the poll tested number that they ran past everyone to make sure it would be popular as though is the billionaire minimum income tax But yes I mean this is a tax that is aimed at the wealthy And this is actually something if you think about it that a lot of Democrats do have buy in and support We've seen pretty good polling among the American public saying that wealthy need to pay their fair share and perhaps even more important than that You've seen senator Joe Manchin come out Are we going to tax unrealized gains Cut to the chase I mean not that I have any but yes the idea is to tax both the income and unrealized capital gains of U.S. households worth more than a 100 million as part of this proposal that's going to be put out there So that's the Supreme Court Is that seriously They got to pass it If they pass it does it go through a judicial process We're going to tax unrealized gains That is what they're saying at this point I mean and let's be clear there are skeptics to this idea The powerful head of the House ways means committee chairman Richard Neal a Democrat that he says that you know he's proposed this income check Shirt surcharge He's a little skeptical about this idea that's been put out right now So we'll even see I mean this might not go any further than the Biden administration coming out and proposing it Congress might take one look at this and say thanks but no thanks or decide to go in a different route But it shows really the end of the day President Biden wants to continue to try and figure out a way to tax the wealthy and he's now looking at other options to do it then that social tax and spending bill the build back better which at this point the future is very uncertain on That's kind of where I wanted to go Emily what can this president this administration get done in Congress as it relates to domestic policy here I mean obviously everybody's been focused on Ukraine and Russia but in terms of domestic policy what can this president get done Well that's a really great question I mean at this point we keep hearing that there are these potential efforts to move certain aspects.

electric vehicle components and other electronic like displays That's a Bloomberg business flash Bloomberg's balance of power continues On Bloomberg radio This is balance of power on Bloomberg television and radio I'm David Weston When it comes to Ukraine one of the major elements being used by The White House is trade sanctions And in connection with that last week we heard from President Biden a proposal that Congress support his efforts to change Russia's permanent trading status Welcome to somebody who's been very outspoken on this very subject He's Republican congressman Kevin Brady of Texas He's the ranking member of the House ways and means committee So congressman thank you for being back with us You've been in the leadership I think on this issue give us your take on what should be done Yeah so I think Congress has worked well together here about days ago reached agreement both on banning new purchases of Russian energy but going further than that because that covers about 60% of what America imports the rest We needed action as well So revoking Russia's in Belarus's special trading relationship with America goes after those other products whether they're Russian diamonds vodka aluminum fertilizer wood and other areas but doing it in a good smart way I think that cuts off added revenue to the Russian government as they wage this war and does it in a smart way that inflicts the maximum pain on Russia rather than the U.S. So how quickly do you expect that could actually be passed by Congress because it is bipartisan to not It is David we work together with the House and Senate ways means committee and Senate finance work together not this weekend with weekend before We expect that to pass this week by overwhelming margins the ban on oil passed with over 400 votes We expect the same support in Congress this week on Russia's special trading relations So there's no question that the country is united pretty much in trying to deal with Russia at the same time We also are united in our concern over inflation right now Are you concerned by cutting off some of this trade we actually may exacerbate the inflation problem I think if we do it in smart way it could temporarily do that but I think we have the capability of replacing Russian oil with U.S. or Canadian oil I think to the way we're tackling the sanctions on what Russia's cells in the U.S. we're giving the administration the ability to adjust those tariffs fertilizer would be a good example of that So that we don't hurt U.S. users but we inflict that pain So there'll be some I think impact but I think if we move smartly we can mitigate it right now I think the big red flags here inflation is accelerating the past 6 months it's been going on for a year with the past 6 months has been accelerating right now real wages we expect the biggest drop in 2022 right now then we have since we began recording and measuring that then I think the big worry here recently University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey shows the plunge in Americans optimism They view their financial status worsening over the next year It's the biggest drop since the university began recording this in the 1940s So there is real concern not just for families and workers but small businesses So President Biden has said the best solution for this inflation is to increase supply Let's take oil and gas something you know terribly well down in Houston How long would it take to get the supply back up to give some people some relief at the pump Yeah so it won't happen overnight Obviously but the signals could make a big difference For example the Keystone XL pipeline itself could replace all of what Russia is selling in the United States That won't happen overnight but regulatory signals that says we're going to restore leasing onshore and offshore We're going to pause this regulatory barriers to exploring here in the United States We're going to fast track approvals for pipelines into the northeast and find ways to provide supply to the northwest regions that have left themselves vulnerable to Russia independency and other oil Yeah there are some smart things administration could do I don't think they're going to do any of it They are so beholden to the screen new deal Their first choice is to seek oil from Venezuela dirty oil by the way from the Saudis for Moran rather than the country that makes the cleanest fossil fuels which is the United States Well it comes with no question that the President Biden came to office really committed to addressing the climate issues At the same time they seem to be moving a bit And my question to you sir because you know these people terribly well are the oil and gas companies and shareholders more importantly are they willing to plow money back into exploration because we heard from a lot of them over period of time Our shelter said we put too much in We had too much CAPEX We're not going to do that anymore They know that the demand is there and the domain is growing So the answer is yes Some of the challenges have been of course just sort of the attack from Washington on U.S. energy Certainly exploring is one thing in producing You got to get into pipelines You've got to get it to refineries and back out Administration is really shut down all of that plus squeezed the financing for these companies And so look under president Trump with the green light American companies were producing exploring transmitting more We need those same types of green light signals from the administration to be able to get this thing back on track Congressman always a pleasure to have you with us Thank you so much for your time Good to see you David Great to see you sir It's Republican representative from the state of Texas He's Kevin Brady Coming up we're.

"In order to avoid this tidal wave of higher taxes. Coming these higher tax hikes they're going to cause a lot of retirement headaches. The time to get that done and was still having time to actually get that done. There is still time remaining in 2021. You see, the House panel passes right? The Ways and Means Committee just passed this week. Over two trillion in tax hikes, including IRA limits, and this is going to be very important for those of you listening. That are high income earners. Maybe there's someone trying to get to retirement or those of you that have been high savers, right? Significant amount of your excuse me retirement savings and IRAs. 41 ks any kind of tax deferred account and in particular for you business owners. Um there's been a lot of changes. I want to hit these and hit him right right away here. So it's time. Time's running out to have your retirement reduced by taxes, and the key here is to learn what's been passed in likely. What now is going to be official. I've been trying to get this Saving Tax Optimization Optimization Plan Book completed now for goodness gracious awhile because there's no one's put anything into being concrete about. Obviously these crushing taxes and what they're going to mean what they're going to specifically, be. But here we know a little bit more right. So the House of Ways Means Committee approved tax increases on corporation, high income earners and capital gains also, uh, creating limits on IRAs and Roth IRAs, meaning restrictions. So the biggest set of U. S tax increases in a generation. It's hard to believe this boomers retirees took a major step forward this past Wednesday with approval. The House Ways and Means Committee is 2.1 Trillion in new levies. Mostly focused on corporations and the wealthy. Now if you're listening, and you say, Well, check how who do these programs really benefit Well, number one. The key is taking the time to discover and uncover you were your own hidden wealth. But in particular who really benefits more, so should be almost the question of who's mainly under attack here Who's going to be hit the hardest, so I would answer it this way. If you're a high income earner in particular for your business owner either or both, and you've got income. Let's say north of 600,000 or more. Um, you're the target. And there's no question now. I listened for some of you listening, you might say. Well, yeah, but I understand tax rates they promised and Biden guaranteed. You know that no tax increases to those people that didn't have an income over 400,000. Um, folks, that when you raise the capital gains tax rate, in fact, we'll talk about it, but it was raised from 20 to 25 the least it didn't go as high as Biden's proposed 39.6. But yet they made that retroactive to September 13th of this year, so anybody that races before the end of this year to try to sell something with a gain is now exposed to the higher tax. Well, I'm going to talk to you about Mark and Dottie that let's say weren't income earners of 400,000 or more, but because of the income from the sale of some of their properties. Not only would they have not been able to take account advantage of what I'll teach you that they were able to accomplish, but also they wouldn't have been able to, they would have been paying an enormous higher tax rate. Well, folks. Here's the opportunity is this goes on to say the vote largely along party lines. There were no Republican votes in favour brings President Joe Biden's four trillion long term economic Um, you know, economic agenda one step closer to enactment. The tax package will help pay for the biggest expansion in social spending in decades in the budget bill, currently penciled in at 3.5 Trillion, So this is just a couple trillion of the 3.5 folks. So for individuals, here's what's happened. Top marginal income tax rate. Restored to the 39.6% that preceded the 2017 tax cutting Jobs Act by Donald Trump. A 3% surtax is imposed on incomes. Super high incomes, incomes higher than five million capital gain rate rises, Uh, from 25 to 25 inches me from 20% for transactions. Right. Made after September. 13th of 2021 this year, New limits are set for large individual retirement account. So listen, if you're someone contemplating a Roth conversion this year And you know it's being taken away, Folks. I've talked about how this was going to come right. It's a means testing. In fact, they've tried to beat up. Senator Wyden, one of my favorite out of the great state of Oregon, head of the Senate and Finance Banking Committee, said. You know this Roth IRA was really not intended for the wealthy. Uh, So why do you then create the rules for everybody to go by. And then you change the rules, just like they changed the rules on the stretch Ira back in December of 2019 Right now you have to our kids have to liquidate those inherited IRAs in 10 years or less. Same thing here. You know, you had to have a certain income level remain under one to be able to make a Roth IRA contribution in many forget this but prior to 2010. You also couldn't even do a Roth conversion. If your income was at a certain level, So not only are they likely bringing that restriction back, but they're now capping it. So depending on how much you've saved in both IRAs or 41, ks or Roth IRAs, they're actually putting a cap of being able to even participate. In those programs on top of that, and this is one that is hitting a lot of you listening right that have built businesses or strong assets. Um, it is a doubling of the estate tax exemption enacted by Trump that would come to an end in 2022. So in other words, now it's about 5.5 million from roughly 12 million per spouses about 11,007,000 per spouse that is exempted right from a state tax when we pass away well now, if the inflation adjusted will be about 5.5 million If they don't inflation adjusted the rumors that's going to go to five million per spouse. Well, some of you listening and I've talked to many of you from all around this country. In fact, I've made an entire practice out of focusing specifically on That was pretty much between 55 75 now actually pushing that to age 85 because of the destruction of these required minimum distributions in these changes to the estate tax. Changes to the inheritance tax and changes obviously inherited IRAs. Many people are reaching out whether they're trying to get to retirement, right. We're happy to always see people trying to get a head start to get tax smart. Right. Maybe have 345 years, you know, trying to get things figured out for retirement. What are the steps They can take now, right to not have to undo things. They can just prevent some of the unnecessary things from happening. That's great, but number of you have reached out that have already retired. Him in interfacing these requirement of distribution ages and or already have been in the You know the fight of these requirement of distributions Now for some time, even some people reaching out in their mid eighties saying, Look, help me. I'm paying more tax in my eighties that I paid in my highest earning career years and there's no end in sight because the taxes just keep going higher and higher and higher and higher. Well, folks, here's the opportunity to learn whether you're trying to get to retirement or a safer passage through retirement. Don't let these.

"Please consider giving us a glowing review on itunes. If you don't like what you ear here please forget. I said anything. So jim garrity. The house ways means committee released their version of the tax increases. That are supposed to pay for or at least partially offset. Joe biden's massive spending plans. We got an increase the individual tax rate. Backup the thirty nine point six percent. They wanna take the corporate rate to twenty six point. Five from i think twenty one and increase the cap gains rate and then a bunch of other dogs breakfast. Various other revenue raisers. Would he make a bit rich. I have a challenge for our listeners. On this week's podcast. I think i'd like everyone to go to the local supermarket. And after you'd under grocery shopping a separate trip just go and see people is coming out and ask them. Hey groceries there. do you pay more for that. Gross those groceries this week and you did say six months ago or year ago or two years ago and my guest is a whole bunch of people will say yes and make cases. They'll say paying a lot more. I'm paying one hundred bucks more a week or something. People really feel this and say. Don't worry the government's gonna raise taxes. See how they react. See if that makes them feel better see if it makes them feel reassured. See if that makes them feel good about this. I think someone could argue. This is the very predictable consequence of electing a democratic president and a marginally democratic senate and a democratic house of representatives. Think one the other things that is striking you the most at this moment. And you can see this in the or you can hear this tone of voice week by week of this. Podcast about are terrible situation in afghanistan. Talk about more about that later. We have Mentioned the you know. A lot of people feeling inflation. I know which folks say. no no. it's not really long term inflation. It's not a real worry This is mostly supply chain issues. They keep having ports in china that is totally controlling corona virus that the keeps shutting down the ports. Everybody keeps trying to parallel park. Oil tankers in the suez canal for some reason. Don't worry this is all supply chain issue. It'll work itself out. It's not really bad inflation. But i could feel it. Ask people people talking about it and casual conversations and not necessarily bringing it up because they want to talk about politics. We still have the situation on the border. That hasn't been fixed. We have roughly a million people come across the border. You caught attempting to come across the border in. We have real problems as a country. We have real pressing. Oh by the way the virus that president biden said he was gonna shut. Down has not been shut down. What is the what is it. What are democrats in congress want to do. What does this mystery show. They really wanna spend a lot of money. That is their purpose in life. That is their their. Mo this highest priority. This is the holy grail. This is what they want to do with their lives. Get the federal government that or he spends an enormous amount of money to spend even more money. This is this old. They yearn for out of life and in the end. We are terribly terribly misserved by our leaders who basically spending more as the measurement of their success in government suggests you mentioned mentioned china supposedly having the virus under control. So do you assume they're totally lying. Because it's just. It's just bizarre that you know here. We are eighteen months into this thing still struggling with it. We're highly advanced society with the an incredible credible medical system. We got the effective vaccines earlier than anyone else. And we're still struggling with it. Once supposedly china basically has no cases at all. Yeah i can tell you with one. Hundred percents certainty. The official statistics are wrong. I can't tell you with any certainty. How wrong they are. But if you look at their official numbers for the first couple of months. Basically kirk goes up like occurred. Kinda like you'd expect levels off a little bit than someone pointed out that they The numbers just seem unbelievably an implausibly. Low then rich one day. The number of cases jumped by fifty percent exactly fifty percent. It's kind of amazing. Just yards a phenomenal coincidence. That the and then since then it has been an exactly horizontal very few cases. Very few deaths. I think they've they claim they've had four cove. Nineteen deaths in the last eight or nine months or something like that. So i think it's extremely likely they have cases and the international media's ability to cover what is going on in china has gotten tougher over the past year as china has expelled use journalists. I don't think they are in a situation. Like india was or like brazil a couple months ago but yet they've got more cases and deaths in there and just not saying because it's too important to their self image To be honest about this they have to weather. Because in there to believe that you'd have to believe that delta was just cutting through india like it's the rebirth and yet did not touch china in any way shape or form. Yeah suzanne back on the taxes so the overall price tag for the house. Version of tax increases is two point two trillion which is a huge over ten years which is a huge tax increase. But it's a step down from what biden wanted. The biden wants a corporate tax at a twenty eight percent. As i mentioned. This is twenty six point. Five biden wants the capital gains rate at thirty nine percent the six significantly lower than that he wanted to hit people passing on their wealth to their errors and a and a huge way that that house declined to do. But it just shows that biden campaigned is on this old school pragmatist and moderate. And here he is. He's more radical than the house of representatives. Nancy plc's tax writing committee. I think for whatever reason we've really witnessed over the last couple years Joe biden's campaign and then his presidency. It's become evidence that he's a lot more afraid of the left. The far left side of his party than he is of moderate. And maybe that's the right tactic if you're him there obviously a lot more vicious. Maybe there won't be any repercussions from moderate voters. Democrats who aren't quite as far left On taxes and spending as he is an sm of the progressive in his party are But to my mind. I don't think that biden has particularly strong priorities on anything. I think he's really just a vessel of whatever he thinks the loudest faction of his party is going to demand right now at night. I wouldn't be surprised if the plan they put out was a lot higher than anything they thought they could get solely because they wanted to be able to point to it and say look. We're progressive. I the president's in line the white house in line with everything that You know The left star left members party and we want to do all the spending knowing that they were never going to get it knowing that even the majority of democrats in the house never went to start out that high knowing that nothing like that most likely is going to get through the senate with a few moderates in the middle. They're saying they want lower spending than what the far left democrats want up abiding can point to it and say well we tried. Look this is what i wanted. And i'm compromising unity so we'll just go down to whatever whatever the most democrats agree to you and try to push that through But i think is just more evidence that he sees the party going too far left direction and he doesn't want to be left behind so try to make a big deal of supposedly holding people making under four hundred thousand dollars harmless but the corporate taxes and they love raising corporate taxes. Obviously i think the politics is good. And unfortunately they're right are passed along to consumers and employees and at the end of the day have a a reduce tamp down wages and they they would take if find got his number twenty eight percent and you add on the various state corporate taxes. We will be back where we were. Prior to the trump perform with the highest corporate tax rate in the world just which makes no sense at any level. Why would we want that. Why do we need that. While i will make our country less competitive and at least at the margins make it more alluring for companies to headquarters their operations overseas in a better tax environment. I find a whole thing. Baffling i have a philosophical objection to high taxes partly because i have an philosophical objection to high-spending and to.

"Lauren. It's always great to have you with us here. We do appreciate it. And it looks like another storm is threatening the Texas coastline with the flooding. We may end up with more flooded cars here at some point. Hopefully everything will be OK. Therefore friends in Texas this evening, But give us an update on what you've been trying Working here as far as a flood soaked vehicles making their way over here, and what might happen now in this latest round. Again. We're going to be looking at a situation where consumers are going to be tricked cars that get flooded if they have comprehensive insurance. We hope those vehicles get destroyed, but in many cases like Katrina and Rita, over 100 over football, basically for half a million vehicles Uh, we actually have more than that, and then we've now got either We've got more vehicles, and now we got, we're going to have more once it has Texas. So what supposed to happen as these vehicles are supposed to be destroyed, But they haven't been so there's a way around this for you as a consumer to be aware and the national crime Insurance Bureau actually can go into and help you track down any vehicles that you think might be flood damage. And the best way to find that is to get that vehicle identification number and put that into the national crime insurance, spirits and bibi dot org and track it down and there's really you want to be smart. Beginning so easy to make a mistake and kind of looks like a good deal. Then you find out later. There's no warranty, the vehicles flooded. That means no emissions. No rush through nothing And when safety systems don't work when you need them to That's the real problem with this. All right? Well, that's very important information and looks like another round of flooding going to be hitting the the Gulf Coast states that, uh, in the next couple of days, so thanks for that important information here. In the meantime, we're watching what's happening in Washington now looks like Honda and Toyota, according to Fox News are reacting to this. They've combined combined capacity to build over 3.5 Million cars have come out against the Democrat backed electric cars, subsidy proposal that favors you know. Made vehicles, according to report. The House and Ways Means Committee of $3.5 Trillion spending bill. A part of it would increase the current maximum $7500 credit available for battery powered vehicles by 4500 for those building plans that use union workers tell us what we need to know about that. All right. The House Ways and Means Committee is voting on this bill on right before Friday. That's we know for a fact Here's the problem with it. Currently, there's a 75 $100 tax credit that you would get. Unless you're purchasing a Tesla or GM products, so some sort of deal has happened between politicians and certain unions that they want to no longer making a tax credit. They want to give you an instant discount of $7500. And if that vehicles built by union workers, that would mean vehicles that are built on the northern half of the country, Except for California, where we have Tesla and others, that would mean that you get an additional $4500. Discount, and they want to make that mandated for a period of time and then drop the 4500 leaving a flat $7500 credit. So if you're going to get a vehicle that's $12,500 less expensive than the window sticker. As a manufacturer. You know what they're going to do. We're going to raise the price $12,500. So there's still in. They wanted average selling price of the car to be higher. So I'm feeling that means cars are going to get more expensive. We're already at an average of $41,000 per car. But here's the real problem. If you are discriminating and saying, if you've got a union plant, you get additional $4500. That is a problem because you've got manufacturers from all over the world producing cars in non union states, and some of those would be Kia and Hyundai and Mercedes. And then you've got cars like Mustang where they're building that Mach E. In Mexico, and that's not a union plant told. Does that mean they're going to bring the jobs back? Probably not because everyone knows that whoever's in office that's the current Issue, you know? Yeah, All these great discounts with the next person gets into office that's all going to change. It's too expensive for manufacturers to move back and forth and the fluid across the border. So unfortunately, they've got a lot of pushback from any manufacturer that's producing and non union states And that includes Volkswagen. My co host is down there now. At the VW plant in Chattanooga, and that is the hot topic of conversation. Thanks for that update, and, uh, we discussed this in the past, but it's been a while of renting a car has gotten extremely expensive. If you've had this experience again that lately but tell us what's happening at the rail counters. Well, actually, I rented a car myself. But for Greensboro, um and I got online. I was shocked, like $500 for three days. That is absurd. That would make sense if you were in New York City or San Francisco. But when you're looking at prices like that, in little towns like Greensboro, you know something's up and what that is, is. There is still a shortage of vehicles both new and used. Which is why I want you to be aware of those flood damaged cars because there's no used vehicles available. People tend to get More anxious to fill that void in their driveway. So don't don't just jump on the first car without having that checked out. But when it comes to rental car companies, they get new vehicles and if they don't have new ones coming in, they're going to keep those vehicles longer before they sell them off to the public. So this is the thing is supply and demand. The supply is short. The demand is high, so prices are high. So what I did is the same thing I'd suggest you do. Rent the car pay for it in advance to make sure that vehicle is there when you arrive, especially the small airport like Greensboro, you don't want to show up and say they don't have cars and neither do any of the other brands. So no matter what brand you're going to find this situation, you have to shop around for the best price, then book your airline and then your hotel. All right, as far as going out to the lot and trying to buy something new or used. Tell us what the folks need to know here with that ship shortage impacting the new car business. Oh, absolutely. That is a huge problem. Right now. We've got a lot of product that's being built in other countries. Whether it be German Korean, or wherever country it might be built. And as it comes over here to the U. S. The cost of shipping that is more expensive, which means the cost of each vehicle goes up. But on top of that, we've got a shortage of dockworkers. So anything coming in is sitting out in the sea. And if you've got nothing to do, go online and looked at there's a ship. Um, basically, website where you can see where all the ships are sitting outside the dock. It's really interesting. They're lined up there and you can see the wait. Lists are weeks. So why your vehicle that you may have custom ordered waiting for to arise? It could be sitting out in that ocean on that ship for quite a while. So I always tell people if it's built here in the U. S, or anywhere in North America, the one thing you have to know is your best bet is to order what you want, and you should pay less. And if the dealer tries to charge you something called a D. M. It's additional dealer markup. That's pure profit in their pocket. Go find another dealer. I did when I ordered my vehicle. I'm willing to wait, but I know I'll get what I want, and I'm not going to over pay for it. And which cars are, uh, are holding their value, in fact, actually gaining in value these days. The average vehicle has gone up in value, used cars and get an extra vehicle in your driveway. You're.

Uh, What do you mean? I'm sorry. Did they do an ice scan on you and record your biometrics? They did not Don't. Yeah. Um, you know, I hope people hear you because we're going to hear for days, weeks months, probably years. Of horrible death happening to people just like you. I'm glad you're shows One more thing Shun. I mean, like another thing I was involved in a Iraqi military training. You know, the U. S military training to their rocky military. And and seeing those pictures of those Marines at the airport before even the suicide bomber. I mean, like, it was unbelievable. Unbelievable the way they were. Standing there, and I was telling my wife I'm like, I really, really hope I'm wrong with something at his Manhattan and it's not. This is not how we operate those those soldiers to me. They were sent to die. I mean, I'm sorry to say that but the weight That when I looked at the pictures and the videos, this is not how the U. S military operate their missions. They keep America there were standing there no T wolves standing next to each other in the middle of the crowd. This was unbelievable. Just this will never ever happened. I never seen it with my own eyes. I mean, like, throughout the training that I've seen happen in front of me today. Iraqi military I mean, this is crazy. I mean, like those soldiers, those poor soldiers. To me that were sent there to that. It's just it's It's beyond anything that I understand about this country. This is not the America I know and love. We don't leave Americans behind. This is not political for me. I don't know if every single person left behind was a radical liberal that worked day and night to get me off the air. I would fight like hell to get them home. We don't abandon our fellow Americans period and the sentence. You don't make a promise to allies and asked them to help and risk their lives and tell them if all hell breaks loose. You will get them out of there and then break that. Promise. You don't do it. And this is if my mind where my mind goes, is not. It's very dark. The potential for human tragedy and disaster on a mass scale is real. Here. I pray to God I am dead wrong. Sadly, I don't think I am Thank you for the call. We'll continue.

"We're all paying more for. Why? Because the cause the transporting those goods that we all want, need and desire are costing truckers more and we're paying, and we're paying more to heat and cool our homes and fill our tanks. We are sounding. It's going to get worse if this tax bill tax hike, Bill, uh, passes they're targeting $145 billion of higher taxes on American made energy, large and small and the The only result of this is they will kill off about a million good paying oil and gas guys, many of blue collar you're going to see those higher prices you just talked about, and then we're gonna be become more reliant on Russia. And in the Middle East and others for energy. And the bottom line is, um, I think following You know, Joe Biden just disastrous Afghanistan debacle. Now he's leading America on an economic surrender to foreign countries like China, like Russia and like Europe. All right. So when it give me a time frame on when we're going to see this now, I know Joe does wants to distract away from Anything and everything having to do with Americans held hostage behind enemy lines? Um, but with that said, you know, that seems to be all the Democrats want to talk about anything other than the disaster of what he caused in Afghanistan. Well, The short answer is all of this is moving at Lightspeed following speaker just bludgeoning a few of her moderates in the line a couple weeks ago, so they're going to start vote. On these tax hikes in the ways means Committee in two days, and they're looking to rush this through in about four days of votes in our committee and bring it to the house floor. Ram it through there. Earlier or a little later this month, so they are trying to push this through. So the American people don't see what's in it. It's scary, but I appreciate everything you're doing. And please keep us updated throughout this process so that we can inform our our listeners of exactly what's happening. We appreciate you being with us Congressman Always. Thank you, Sean. Take care. All right, my friend 809 41. Sean, If you want to be a part of the program, let's say hi to Gino is in Michigan. Hey, Gino, How are you? Glad you called, sir. Sean, how you doing? What's going on. Good shot is an honor and probably should speak to you. First of all, and I really appreciate you speaking on behalf of our fellow Americans that are honestly consider hostages right now in Afghanistan. And then our brave soldiers. Uh, region for Michael. I used to be a translator from 2010 2012. I was a contractor to the D O D. In Iraq. Um I really want the listeners to understand the situation. Uh, all right. Our fellow Americans are in right now. I mean, like, it's a really bad situation and that when I went to Iraq, the first thing they instructed me to do is do not mention your real name. Don't say where you're from. Don't mention any family members to anyone. Even the Iraqi military, NATO and now, uh, seeing the picture now, with those Translators and local translators. Older informations are given to the Taliban. Basically, it's not only their life. That's in danger is our family's life. People need to understand how those with the Taliban operate. I'm like, is a definite death for those people. And and I E is really, uh said and really hard to see what's going on right now because I was in that situation before. You know, I told my wife yes. Um, picture. Look, the numbers of people over 20 years that we're talking about like yourself, Gino. Are in the tens of thousands. They now have a database with the names of all they have biometric. You know, backgrounds, they're going to be testing people door to door biometrically. They're gonna identify and kill every single person that they can find that assisted Americans over the last 20 years. That's just the fact it's already happening. We're getting a lot of reports about how bad it is and how quickly it's gotten worse. Since Joe Biden abandon our fellow Americans and our Afghan partners that we promised we would get out if this day ever came. I'm not saying they all have to come here that we need certainly some real vetting of anybody that's taken into this country, but we promised to get them the hell out of there. And we left them many of them behind the biggest era lift in his 120,000 year, 5500 Americans with no number of how many Americans but are left behind. We never leave Americans behind. We made this promise we abandoned them. Many will die as a result of their this failure of Joe Biden. Yes, yes, and they don't speak about Like I'm putting myself in their situation where I was asked to leave, even if I had a chance to leave the country believe my family behind a. My information are already on the on the hands of the Taliban's I would never leave my family behind. And like this is the worst scenario they could be in. I couldn't even say my my real name to anyone when I was translated. We didn't even use our real names. And that's how bad it was. "You on Joe Biden's economy. Uh, and at the top of the hour will be joined by Sara Carter back to our top story, which is obviously Americans held hostage. I think it was day 24 behind enemy lines, and we can't The Taliban is saying we can't They're not allowing planes with Americans on them out. They want their ransom. I told you it would come to this. What? I really fear. I don't even want to tell you what's going to happen. This. This is the world I live in. I wish I didn't sometimes. Friday's job report. Way way, far short of expected employment gains It created the fewest jobs in seven months in August. Hiring in the leisure hospitality sector now stalled because of Joe Biden's mishandling of Covid. And if you look at it, you know if they had forecast, non payroll nonfarm payrolls increasing by What 728,000 in August and the survey of establishment showed yet it only increased by 235,000. Disaster, the smallest gain since January. Employment in all of these sectors down construction down 3000 G M. Ford Motors announced production cuts this week. You can't even get a new car. Do you want to buy a used car while you're paying more than you've ever paid up 47%. Morgan Stanley has now cut their third quarter GDP growth forecast by over 50%. There were forecasting 6.5% now they're forecasting 2.9%. And they want to ram through this $3.5 trillion new Green Deal socialist disaster. You know, Biden, you know, seeking to shift everything bit of attention away from the disaster that what that is Afghanistan with Americans held hostage. And he's you know, he's pushing this new green deal. Womb to the tomb. Cradle to grave agenda of his, um you have a few people now that are speaking out against it. Looks like Kristen Cinema. She wrote this big editorials saying she's against it, as did Joe Mansion, and here's what mansion said. But we also know that house leaders say Well, but first you've got to pass this $3.5 trillion anti poverty, healthcare and climate plan. You voted to least open debate and discussion on the bill to advances in that sense, But as of today, if this bill exists, as it does now, are you for it or against it? I've been very open about that hoppy. I do not believe that $3.5 trillion Today is where we should be going based on what we have going on with inflation, what we have going on with the national debt. The indications we have and the unknown of the Covid 19 or the Delta variants. Too much at stake right now to go in and Make a commitment such as that and not have any things in the toolbox to take care of anything. Challenges or crisis We may have coming and right now we already put 5.4 trillion out. I've always been a believer that every bill should be either voted up or down on stone marriage and the need and the priorities that we have in the need for our nation. Joining us now is Congressman Kevin Brady. He's out of Texas, their eighth congressional district, ranking Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee. And he knows about all things spending. Uh, look, you can't stop it in the house, but it can be stopped in the Senate. Now I just when it comes to cinema and mansion, I don't know it's a crapshoot not only want to think about people like Romney, Ben Sasse, Lisa Murkowski and some others. Right? Yeah, Sean, good to talk to you. So I I actually we are going to try to stop it or as much of it in the house. Comey has the raises the majority here as well. Four votes can block these tax increases. It is uphill, no doubt about it. But look, you know, coming after a horrible jobs. Report what you just laid out, and I know the president's blaming covid. But he ought to be looking in the mirror because right now businesses are fighting the fill jobs. Families are struggling. With rising prices, The recovery has peaked. Now it's stalling out and consumer optimism is has fallen off a cliff. And now the president wants 3.5 really $5 trillion Spending and taxes and the only result of this is going to be you're going to see higher prices on families. You will see a new era of dependency on government, probably the greatest expansion the welfare state. In our lifetime. You're going to see millions of jobs either killed or moved overseas. And and by the way, you know, I know, the president says This is all on the wealthy and corporations. I can tell you This is hammering small businesses. Family owned farms in the middle class is going to see real tax increases. This is already see. We see inflation now at the highest rate in in what nearly 20 years we see gas prices now on their way to doubling we have we have now Joe Biden begging OPEC. Rather than big old pick. I have an alternative idea, Congressman. I don't know. I'm a little talk show host. What do I know? I'm a dummy, but maybe we can start drilling again in Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma. Um, maybe reopen Anwar. And while we're at it, why don't we put back in place? The building of the Keystone XL pipeline and these other pipelines? I don't know why Why don't we go back to the policies of energy independence That brought us record low energy prices? Because everything we buy Congressman you know this Everything we buy in every grocery store every home depot every lows. Every every drugstore. We're all paying more for. Why? Because the cause the transporting those goods that we all want, need and desire are costing truckers more and we're paying, and we're paying more to heat and cool our homes and fill our tanks. We are shining. It's going to get worse if this tax bill tax hike, Bill, uh, passes they're targeting $145 billion of higher taxes on American made energy, large and small and the The only result of this is they will kill off about a million good paying oil and gas. U.S., Canada and Mexico sign agreement - again
"You house Democrats are eager to show progress on something other than the impeachment inquiry just an hour after unveiling the formal charges against the president house speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a deal he said Democrats had reached an agreement with the White House on an updated trade pact with Mexico and Canada this is the day we've all been working to and working for on the path to yes that yes on a new nafta marks a rare moment of bipartisanship in a deeply divided capital as NPR's Scott Horsley reports for the trump administration getting Mexico and Canada to sign a new trade deal was hard enough winning support from house Democrats may have been even tougher house speaker Pelosi says her party went along only after the new nafta was modified to include enforceable protections for workers and the environment there's no question of course at this table image is much better than nafta it is infinitely better than what was initially of proposed by the administration Democrats also insisted on stripping out of the trade deal certain patent protections which they called a giveaway to big pharmaceutical companies house ways means committee chairman Richard Neal says there were a lot of hard fought negotiations with the White House I think we set a world record for hanging up on each other myself in the trade rep but at the same time we also knew that this was an opportunity that we couldn't let get away from us Neil says the talks came to a head this past weekend the Massachusetts lawmaker was watching the New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady when he was interrupted by a phone call all of a sudden I looked at my phone and said hello see for caller ID long wisdom tells me hello Brady take the call as final details were ironed out Neil was also in regular contact with AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka who checked in from a hunting trip Trumka endorsed the agreement after promise of factory inspections if necessary to verify compliance in Mexico his union backing is an important green light for congressman Neal and his fellow Democrats but this is more than a triumph for organized labor it's a triumph for workers everywhere across America it's also the first major trade agreement for the president who spent much of the last three years disrupting international trade at a signing ceremony in Mexico City this afternoon US trade representative Robert light Heiser hailed the agreement as a win for all three countries and if something is going to base North America Richard is going to make America rich rich could make Canada richer and it's going to make Mexico richer the new agreement which trump calls the U. S. M. C. A. provides important updates for things like digital commerce that barely existed when after the fact a quarter century ago it also requires car companies use more north American parts if they want to sell cars here duty free and includes a sixteen dollar an hour minimum wage for some auto production that could shift some manufacturing from Mexico to the US and Canada on the whole though the U. S. M. C. A. is more of an update to nafta than a wholesale replacement it's estimated increase GDP by only about one third of one percent Christian G. check of the center for automotive research has what the deal does do is avoid the hit to the economy that would have happened to trump made good on his threat to scrap nafta with nothing to take its place it means an end to uncertainty around what the future trading rules will be in North America the agreement also gives house Democrats an accomplishment they can point to other than the impeachment inquiry that's especially important to moderate lawmakers from swing states like Cindy actually allow farmers in her state depend on a continued flow of north American free trade I'm very happy to see where we're at with this and
