Chicago police are investigating the deaths of three people last night in an apparent drag racing incident in west Pullman. Nancy hardy has more. Police say officers responding to a call about drag racing near 100th and Halstead saw a car hit a pole and then a wall before bursting into flames. It was just before 11 p.m. in Chicago firefighters put it out. Three people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not said anything about another vehicle involved. The major accident investigation unit is handling the case. Nancy hardy one O 5 9 wbm. An investigation continues in an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday for a Lake county jail inmate who had a seizure inside his cell. A review of the security surveillance cameras showed the 50 year old man walked into a cell just before collapsing and seizing. Officials say the inmate then stopped breathing, CPR was administered and a defibrillator was also used. He was taken to a hospital in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead. The Lake county sheriff's department said in a release, there were no signs of trauma on the inmate's body, and no indications of foul play. The inmate had been in the jail's custody since October on various weapons charges. Hundreds of Michigan state students and alumni came together to remember the victims of Monday's shooting on campus. I- waddled over to her from our house every single day. She trained me. And then i would waddell back home up until the day that i gave birth. I think i worked out with her the day. My water. I'm convinced that's why the delivery was so quick strong. Tell she's absolutely amazing. It's a little a little suburb with a big suburb of chicago. It's on lake michigan and it is a factory town. My parents were born in latin america. Their parents were immigrants were armenian by ethnicity but were very american. We never liked gut clannish. I don't know i. There's no other way to describe it but there were probably fifty armenian families back then. So yeah and though i have Four siblings so there were five of us and we are one year apart and there were three boys and two girls while madaba busy busy. Mom and dad really didn't like each other that much but they liked having sex. I think they ended up getting divorced after we were all raised. Twenty four years later bought three brothers. I learned how to be tough. I learned to be funny. I was a tomboy. I learned sports but i think i loved still loved being girly and fashion for shirt.

This afternoon through Tuesday morning, I should say with the significant travel impacts in and around Chicago this afternoon and overnight to 5 to 8, inches from Valparaiso, through Kankakee and back to Pontiac, 4 to 7 inches from Ottawa of through Elgin in Waukegan. And 8 to 14 inches along the lakefront, including places like Waukegan and the city of Chicago. Winter Storm warnings are up through tomorrow. And then they have another one that comes back negative. So you had sort of a brush with that situation yourself. Yeah, it was a lot of people have asked me. Why did you get tested in the first place? Which is a fair question? Because way had no symptoms. My wife and I have been fairly strictly quarantined. I mean, she's We go to the grocery store? Maybe once every two weeks. I actually ate inside a restaurant three weeks ago it right belly and drink. Well. It was so brave while the plate place just opened. It's called right Deli and drink. It's in Greektown. I like it quite a lot, actually have a new city article coming out about Right, Ellie and drink in the evolution of the Chicago delicatessen. So anyway, we go there and the chef assured me in this actually happened. We would be the only two people in the restaurant except him and his GM Now he had some guys working and back, but basically we're all massed up. They're going out to a table our table in an isolated dining area. I mean, no one was near us. But you never know. Right? And so when I when I deal was with my daughter, Josie and her fiance, Max. Let's spend Thanksgiving together. This was in November. Of course. So two weeks before Thanksgiving, all of us going to taik Quarantine. Ah, week before Thanksgiving. We all get covert tested just to see if somehow we had it. All of us tested negative, Very cool. We're going to do that, or we plan to do the same thing I Christmas, so I took my first covert test. Came back positive. And I found that out on the 19th of December. So that cancels all our Christmas plans. I've got a quarantine for that. You know, they usually say two weeks, but when they I talked to the nurse on the phone, and she said what we're gonna count. We're gonna assume you were infected the day before the test. I mean that, you know, that's pretty liberal. I think the day before the test And then so that means you have to quarantine until, like the 24th or something like that. So I was like Okay, Um, But if it was my wife, Caroline, who have been so I live with way had a quarantine, too. So you know we're wearing could we weren't in bed together? Obviously, we're in masks around the house. Fortunately, we have a couple of floors in our house. We could separate by floors. I use a separate staircase to get down to the TV room so I can watch old movies, but basically, we're You know, living separate lives for a couple of weeks, But then I got another on the 22nd. I got another covert test. Came back negative. And then on the 28th. I got another covert tests came back negative. And I did it twice just to make double. Sure, I figure I'm going with two out of three tiebreakers, right? Yeah, right. I mean, if I figured two negatives in a row Now. So what do you but nonetheless, I had tested positive. And so what do you do when you test positive? Well, you assume that if you're not feeling any symptoms, perhaps you are asymptomatic, and I should know by temperature like three times a day for days on end. Never got over 97. I mean, my my temperature of anything was attending a low. Um, but I went out to, uh, to luminaria with some of our neighbors. They do it every year, they put the luminary out. My next door neighbor is an epidemiologist, and I went out to get our luminary of the little. You know the little candles and paper bags laid up along the street. And I said, You know, I tested positive for covert. He's never genealogists. And he said You have to go home. He was right. He was right. I was dismissed. I mean, because I was still put even though my quarantine period was over as of the 24th. Still felt he had He still felt this doctor Alvin extorted that. You know, it may be still wasn't safe to be around other people for their sake. And I had to agree with him. You gotta treat if even if you don't feel anything, If you test positive, you've got to assume that you could be transmitting to the disease to others. So strict avoidance of other human beings is a good thing to do. Anyway. It was wild. I got Testing in two places. And this might be something your listeners might want to consider if they feel they may have been exposed or a fae like us just wanted to make sure that they're clean before they get together for a meeting with, you know, our get together with even to other relatives. Um It was tested at that Loretta Hospital, which, incidentally for those living on the West side, I can walk there. It's like 0 30 minutes from my house. Easy walk through Columbus Park nights. Virtually no line. They don't ask for your insurance card. They ask for minimal personal information like you know. Are you feeling any symptoms, and I would usually say muscle pain, which is True. Illinois police department fires officer who shot Black couple in car in Chicago suburb
"And Hispanic police officer in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan has been fired after shooting a black couple inside their car. A 19 year old man was killed and his girlfriend was wounded. Police officer fired after fatal shooting involving unarmed Black couple
"Hispanic Waukegan police officer who shot a black couple inside a vehicle Tuesday was fired late Friday. The department says the officer committed multiple policy and procedure violations. That shooting killed 19 year old Marcella Stinnett and wounded his 20 year old girlfriend to Pharrell Williams. Investigators say Williams was driving and Stinnett was a passenger in a vehicle that fled a traffic stop and that the vehicle was later spotted by another officer near Martin Luther King Jr and South Avenues. Police say that as the fired officer approached, the vehicle started moving in reverse, and the officer opened fire. No weapon was found in the car. The officers firing was an out shortly after Lake County's chief prosecutor Said that the FBI will join Illinois State police and investigating that shooting.
