"Let's talk a little forty-niners. We are checking in with Ted Raimi on the case CBS sports line. Yeah, patty the forty-niners are coming off a shutdown win over the saints yesterday and we are expecting to hear from head coach Kyle Shanahan a little bit later this afternoon and getting update on some of the injuries out of yesterday's game for a couple of weeks the forty-niners weren't really racking up any injuries out of the games, but that changed yesterday like the sprained MCL suffered by running back Elijah Mitchell. The good news, though, it's not the same MCL. He sprained earlier in the year, so that is relatively encouraging. Also, Jimmy Garoppolo took a big hit yesterday on his surgically repaired knee was not listed immediately on the injury list after the game, but sometimes the day after soreness can set in. We know that deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey dealing with some injuries as well. So again, we'll wait to get those updates. The forty-niners, though, first place in their division, they've won four in a row every other team in the NFC west is in the midst of a losing streak and the forty-niners have a big one coming up on Sunday hosting the dolphins, a matchup of two of the hottest teams in the NFL. "The worst scoring team since 2000. Cleveland Browns. Ten points per game. The 2006 raiders, ten and a half points. 2009 rams just under 11 points. The 2000 Bengals 11.6 points per game. 2011 rams, 12 points. The Broncos right now are averaging 14.3 points per game. Yeah, Pauly. Can anyone tell me I just looked it up the quarterback for the 2000 Cleveland Browns. The two quarterbacks who they combined the score throwed 9 touchdown passes on the entire season. One was coaching yesterday and had a big game. He was the backup. Kevin oka, Doug Peterson. Oh. He threw two touchdowns backing up Tim couch who had 7 touchdowns in 9 minutes. I wouldn't have gotten Doug Peterson Tim couch, I would like that. Yeah. You have your deshaun Watson? Yeah, deshaun Watson was supposedly going to play this weekend against the Texans. Off the top of your head, how many days or months has been since Desean Watson took a snap on the field? What did he add a number? 741. 700 days since he's taken a snap if he takes a step this weekend. 23 months since he's played professional football. How does that work to stack up with Trey land? Yeah, I was going to say who's played more football. One was not injured whatsoever during this time. And missed 700 days of football. Yeah. Wow. Yeah? He's coming back against the checks. But if you're going to bring him back, you want to bring him back in a game that you should win. Because the Texans certainly don't want to win. They. Yagi, like allergic to winning. You know, it's like girls when you're growing. You're yucky. You know, that's the Texans how they view about winning. Yeah. First down. Don't want that. Did we come up with the definition of housed and housed because he said, I just said housed about a team. They housed them. Yeah, Ted and Tampa said he was correcting you. House is a place where you know people live, I think he was saying, and then there was hosed in there as well. Right. I didn't say Michigan provided affordable housing for the Ohio State football team. I think we should actually have ten Tampa call in and give us a breakdown of all slang or something. I would love to hear Dan actually the term is cap. It doesn't mean anything that you put on your head. They're actually referring to lying and so that's actually the proper usage of that. So we'll just say no cap. That means that they're not lying. Yes, Paul.

I struggle with what happened when I was at that deployment where I was at the hospital. For some reason for me, I don't struggle with the people I've seen die in the line of duty. Because to me, and this is just, you know, this is just rich Watson for what it's worth. That was part of their job. But now I'm seeing them out of hospital bed, dying, giving their last breath. That's the one I struggle with, right? And I've learned how to process through that. And honestly, I don't spend a whole lot of time thinking about it anymore, but I mean, it used to wake me up at night. So, yeah. So let's go back to your meeting with your bishop and you break down like what, I mean, obviously you could sort of put on this pose and function, so what was it about that moment that was the pressure building inside of you type thing? Yeah, for me, it was. I have my job, but it does come with stressors. And to be fair, if I'm a veteran and I was struggling with some of my things, but I'm helping other veterans the whole time. It kind of compounded in that respect. And I had I was in school at the time in my PhD program and a bunch of other things. And I was just done. I was in his office, it was a PPI, and he had handed me a family that I needed to go visit, that he was really worried about. And he'd handed me a bunch of stuff in a folder about this family. I didn't even get to open it. And I just, that was it for some reason. It was just that moment, and I was like, I'm done. I said, I need to get out of this calling.
LIV Analyst Jerry Foltz on How He Got Involved With LIV
"How did it get started? How did you become the guy who announced in London? How did that conversation start? Long, long, long story, but essentially they first two people they hire to take care of the broadcast. From a technical standpoint, where the producer and the director, they hired the producer that JJ knows quite well. And you met him, John. His name's Keith hirschman. He was the guy who originally was the very first producer at golf channel. Basically invented all of the, all of the coverage that you saw in the first 15, 20 years at golf channel. And he was in charge of it all, and including hiring and developing the on air talent, if you will, or lack of talent and like this, but he was there. And we had talked a number of times and he always assumed that I would say no that's and he was right. I would have. Because there was so much anti noise out there. And you hear only one side. You tend to believe so much of the of what is being said. And then one day I was kind of sitting there just thinking about big picture thinking about the future moving forward, I turned 60 this year. You know, how much longer do I want to work and how much more do I want to keep going down the same path? Which I love doing the LPGA as you guys know. And I called up and said, one night, I go, I'm listening. And the very next day sitting in this very chair, I got on the horn and a similar call to this with James Watson and will steger, who are two of the brightest people literally that I've ever met in TV who are reinventing the will and the wheel in terms of the way golf was covered and we sat there. We talked about it. They answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable about something I knew nothing about. And including all of the questions that are continually raised throughout social media that I'm very comfortable where I stand on my moral ground. In that regard. And I said, okay,

Dr. Stephen Meyer: The Foundation of Life Is Not a Simple Cell
"How would the mutation and natural selection mechanism ever build a complex new forms of animal life. We know now post Watson and crick and the molecular biological revolution and the human genome project and many other things that at the foundation of life, we have not a simple cell as Darwin thought in his time, but instead the cell is understood to be chock full of complex information and a whole complex information storage, processing, transmission and processing system. So we've got high-tech digital computing technology inside even the simplest living organisms in their cells. And to build a new organism, you have to modify that genetic information that code. And we know from our own experience in the computer world that if you start randomly changing sections of functional code, you're going to degrade that information long before you ever build a new functioning set block of software or in operating system that random changes to specified information invariably degrade that information long before you ever generate anything new or functional or useful. And that same thing appears to apply in the biological case so that the mechanism that the darwinism and neo darwinists have long relied on, namely national selection acting on these random changes in the genetic text called mutations is very unlikely to produce anything functional or new, even taking into account the billions of years of life's history on earth. So
How Joel Dahmen Sees His Future in Golf
"What's your number? What's your, like, boo weekly always said, if you won 10 million bucks, you'd hang it up or tire. Obviously that didn't happen. You made way more than that. Blah, blah, Watson. Bubba Watson said if he won ten times on the PGA Tour he'd hang it up. He's won like 13th. So and two majors, yeah. I don't know if I have a direct number. More have more of a timeline. So I'm 34. I'll be 35 this fall. I think if I can play 15 years on tour, I would give me to basically 45 allow hopefully two kids by then that are kind of in grade school and I want to be their tee ball coach, who want to be basketball coach, I want to be around. My parents were great. They were always around for me. But if I can't live off of that, then I got probably bigger issues in my life. So I just think the other, like you said, you made a good point. There are people that play for legacy that play for whole thing, that major is like, that's just not one. I know, I know what my level is and it's not that top 20 levels. So I'm just going to, honestly, I'm playing out mostly fear of having a job. And so I'm just going to keep trying hard and keep going until I can stack it all up and not have to worry about it really on the back end. I'd love to play champions to where smaller champions are right at my ally. Like, you hang out with your buddies, three, three days a week, sounds like the live a little bit, but I don't really want to go there. So I just want to see kind of how long I can make this thing last, and I believe I have 5 really good years left in me. And then after that, if I could just hang on for dear life and with the purses increased all up on jazz, I'd like to. Kind of just see where this goes.
Dave Wasserman: Republicans Won Most of Special Elections so Far
"Washington Post points this out as a sign of democratic comeback but they all do You compost in part because of superior candidate selection as well as concerns over the end of roe It's possible that these factors will lead into a Republican way of November Can we determine that from one special election In a near even district veteran election analyst Dave Watson at cook political report cash considerable cold water on that proposition And notes that the overall special election score tilts the other way this summer What It's true Even after the Supreme Court published the dob's decision Republicans have won three out of four House races Hello Three out of four House races special elections One could even argue that we should include the Texas and California contests Since the Dobbs decision leaked in early May and Democrats started messaging on abortion almost immediately And this particular race the outcome last night ended up matching the 2020 presidential outcome So what they're saying is in California and Texas and those special elections are Republican one as well That's 5 out of 6 Don't tell me Hello
"watson" Discussed on The MMQB NFL Podcast
"Hello and welcome to a special edition of the MMP NFL podcast. I'm Gary bramley, and I'm Conrad. And Connor, we have gathered here to talk about the resolution. Perhaps final resolution. In the Desean Watson suspension saga, still an outstanding civil case, so that has to be taken care of. But as far as football is concerned, this seems to be settled or maybe not. We'll get to that in just a moment here. But let me lay out the terms first and then we'll open up the discussion here. So Watson has settled with the NFL Watson sort of represented by both the Players Association and his own camp, his own legal team and his agency. The terms are 11 games for the suspension, which would bring him back for a week 13 game against Houston. A $5 million fine, he is also to undergo mandatory counseling. Now, things got a little bit, I don't know, push back into a gray area because part of this was clearly based on the NFL's language in their press release based on Watson showing contrition. He had given an apology or what could loosely be termed an apology before their first preseason game. Last week, and as soon as word of settlement came out, he and his camp just sort of did the opposite of an apology, said he was innocent, said that the NFL was investigation was flawed and that judge Sue Robinson made a mistake and et cetera, et cetera. So what kind of door might this crack open as far as the terms of the settlement go? So, yeah, when you had mentioned that maybe we had reached a resolution, I wanted to jump in, had this not been serious subject matter, I might have jumped in with like a Lee corso, not so fast, my friend, right? Because I think if you read the language and just from talking to people yesterday, the NFL is appointing a behavioral expert to oversee this case. And the behavioral expert now is going to be charged with determining whether deshaun Watson has been rehabilitated in this time period. Over the next 11 weeks plus however much time. Now, I don't know. He has said he had said a couple of weeks ago that he was doing counseling through the browns. I don't know if that time is going to be included. I don't know if that, whatever he'd been doing in those counseling sessions, is going to be included in this new third party. It would seem whatever counseling he has already received with the browns has emboldened his stance that he did nothing wrong, so I don't know if the NFL wants to try a different person or a different avenue here.
Browns QB Deshaun Watson settles for 11-game suspension
"It's a settlement with the NFL following accusations of sexual misconduct by two dozen women while Watson was with the Houston Texans I'm moving on with my career in my life and I'm continuing to stand on my innocence Just because settlements and things like that happen doesn't mean that a person is guilty for anything The NFL wanted a one year suspension Watson was accused of sexually harassing and coercing the women during massage therapy sessions To this whole process we've been trying to tell my side of the story But a lot of people wasn't able to I didn't really pay too much attention to it but one day we will only time will tell Watson was also fined $5 million and will have to be evaluated by behavioral experts and follow an NFL treatment program I'm Ed Donahue
For Sports Agents LIV Golf Is a 'No Brainer'
"I think I got to take the perspective of an agent right now. Because if you think about this, the age of right, when you're a player, a lot of these high profile guys, they literally are on a leash by their agent. They don't do anything that their agent says not to do. A robot and the best sense of the word, and then when their agent tells them to show up where this, eat that, talk to him, get this phone number, play golf with him, they do it, right? They do it. So a lot of these dudes, especially these younger guys, can get swayed by the agents. So much and if I'm taking the agent's perspective here on Cameron Smith and he's got a $100 million fishing line out in front of him, guess what the agent fee on the PGA Tour is the normal one is. 20%. It's 20 percent. So 20 million dollars of that 100 million would go to this agent. That, that's generational money for the agent. Not just Cameron Smith, so what do you think that agents pushing for? What do you think bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson, all their agents were pushing for? All Greg Norman has to do is get a bunch of agents on his side. That's it. And he's going to have a full roster period. But so that's kind of my perspective on it. I've got kind of an aged point of view at this point with the live because the agents want these guys to take it more than anything. It's the biggest cut in professional sports. There's not another pro sport that pays 20%. To their agents.

Chris Christie Talks Deshaun Watson
"Now I want to turn over to a different sports topic, deshaun Watson. I'm asking you this because you were a prosecutor. And you might have been in front of judge Sue Robinson. She was in Delaware. I don't know if you know Sue Robinson or not. Okay. She hands down a decision 6 game suspension. I'm not taking an opinion on this until everything is done. But first of all, she talked about nonviolent sexual assault. You ever heard of such a thing? No. Okay, so Roger Goodell triggers the appeal process, which puts him in the absolute no win situation of either upsetting black athletes who believe that white owners get off or upsetting women for not taking seriously allegations of four cases of nonviolent sexual assault, but there was no prosecutorial process for deshaun Watson. I'm really conflicted about this whole thing. What do you think about it? What I think about it is that Roger Goodell has used, as you said, is put himself by appealing this. Now in an impossible position. Because quite frankly, I think the suspension and fine and penalties you just gave the Miami Dolphins are laughable. When you read that, in fact, the owner of the dolphins did say in front of a number of people that would be better off losing games than we would be winning games that people testify these said that to the coach. Now they're saying, well, he didn't really mean it. I mean, and he suspended some mid October. Now, are you going to affect the integrity of the game in a significant way? And if he's going to give now to Sean Watson, a much starter suspension, which you have to believe that that's what's now going to happen. Then if I were the black athlete, I would say that there are two different standards. One for the people who play the game and work for the people who profit from the game. And I think it's a real concern. I think that I didn't quite understand her, as I said to you, her characterization of nonviolent sexual assault. But in the end, too, there's got to be some sense of equity. And that's why I think the NFL should not have appealed. They're going to put this person in a position to make these judgments. Sometimes you're going to agree sometimes you're going to disagree, but by appealing roger Gonzalez now put his own judgment regarding Steve Ross into the crosshairs as well.

NFL appeals 6-game suspension for Browns' Deshaun Watson

"watson" Discussed on NFL Live
"And now we'll see if the NFL PA then takes the NFL to court to challenge his decision, which I think would be expected, which means that we're looking at a long drawn out protracted battle with the two sides, the NFL and the NFL PA, sparring again. It's going to be messy. It's going to be ugly. It's going to be really something that goes on all see the long potentially, and that's where this is at right now field. Perhaps an interesting battle ahead. I mean, I know that when we were discussing the 6 game suspension, Sue L Robinson is largely following precedent and the system that is in place, but we were discussing this in the first block of the show. How this is much more than just a precedent and system story. It's a human story. And one thing that I want to ask your perspective on is what or how has the lack of remorse from deshaun Watson in his side and frankly, in some ways, the lack of remorse, I think the brown's ownership failed to share when they released their statement on Monday afternoon, perhaps played into this story. Maybe the league isn't making their judgments based off of those facts, but I do think this is a much bigger story than just the league into Sean Watson. It is about the football following public. Yeah, well, you know, judge Robinson did say Watson's lack of remorse was an aggravating factor. She called this, by the way, while she cited precedent, more egregious than anything they had considered before. So when the browns came out with a statement from the haddam saying that deshaun Watson had expressed remorse, I think a lot of people, myself included, asked, where and to whom. And you asked about the public and the public backlash. And I think that's where this kind of gets a little bit complicated. We know that the NFL presented four cases, ten B 5, the 5th woman, was not interviewed. As the public, we have more knowledge than that, because of all of the reporting on this story, from The New York Times, which came out, you remember what the story is saying that actually Watson had had 66 appointments for more than he himself claimed, by the way. And we know also that more than two dozen women sued him. So we know the immense volume of allegations that player, which isn't to minimize the fact that four allegations is a lot. And I think that is influencing how many people feel hearing 6 games knowing the incredible volume of allegations. I mean, the NFL PA has a fiduciary responsibility to serve in its players best interest. We were talking about the possibility of them countersuing if this suspension is expanded for deshaun Watson, which would be the presumption given that Roger Goodell and the league has decided to appeal it. Is there a message being sent if the NFL PA tries to push this further when there has been so much public support suggesting that 6 games was far too little?

"Time now for us to bring in NFL lives own meeting times. Meaning what was your reaction when you saw the news at the NFL had appealed the 6 game ban? You know, I wasn't terribly surprised field. I think we can start by saying, I don't think Roger Goodell wanted to be in this position. He created this new process as part of this use CBA because he had gotten dinged so many times for being judge jury and executioner. However, this was collectively bargained, the NFL PA did agree to this new process where ultimately he did retain that right. Now why am I not surprised? Well, frankly, if you read judge Sue Robinson's report and her findings on the deshaun Watson case, she largely agreed with the NFL's conclusions in the report in the section labeled findings. She says that the NFL did meet the civil standard first establishing that sexual assault took place that she believed there was set unwanted touching that Watson went into these sessions with a sexual tent. She said all of this, but ultimately decided on 6 games for two reasons. One, press it. Now, as we talked about yesterday, that precedent was largely under the old system, which many people criticized when it came to cases involving sexual assault, and domestic violence. And then the other reason was her interpretation of what the term nonviolence means basically she felt that this was an example of a case where violence did not occur. I disagree with that. Again, as we discussed yesterday, I don't believe that is a correct interpretation of sexual violence. And again, Roger Goodell is being put in a difficult position where he has to face, I think, two largely competing impulses. One is, do you want to start off this new system by going back to that old that old process where you are the judge, right? Some might say, well, you're undermining her decision, even though it was agreed upon that he could play this role. And I think reckoning with his own history when it comes to these cases in the public black backlash that's taken place. We think back to 2014 when ray rice was suspended for just two games after a domestic violence incident that was later expanded. That's probably one of the, I would say most damaging moments of Roger Goodell's career, now he's in a position again dealing with a very public case involving in this case sexual assault

"Breaking news into NFL live, just minutes ago, Adam chef reported the NFL has filed its appeal in the Desean Watson suspension of 6 games that according to a leaked source. What more can you tell us about this league's decision? Well, this is a huge and significant step for the National Football League field. And Roger Goodell now will determine whether he or one of his designees will hear this appeal. The NFL PA is likely to take this decision to court and sue the NFL over it and so what looked like a story that could be coming to a close when justice Sue L Robinson issued her 6 game suspension and written opinion on Monday now may just be beginning. This could be the start of a very long, legal, drawn out process, but deshaun Watson is not going to play at the start of the season. His 6 game suspension stands, the NFL is looking to add onto it and add onto it by a lot. I would imagine because the league wanted an indefinite suspension with Desean Watson having to apply for reinstatement. The NFL had until 9 a.m. on Thursday to make a decision about whether or not to appeal the justices decision, considering that it would undermine her in her very first decision and that is exactly what the league decided. It decided to take a stand against the judge's decision to stand up for what it believes is right. And the judge wrote that the NFL proved that deshaun Watson was guilty of sexual assault that he posed a threat to the women around him and that he compromised the integrity of the National Football League in 6 games is not enough in the NFL eyes. The NFL PA will have plenty to say about this as well. It has two days to respond to the NFL's appeal of this decision. And again, this now is just beginning. You take a look at the appeal process. There on the board, as we just mentioned, the NFL PA having two days to respond three outside experts make recommendations to commissioner Goodell or his designate, Gödel or his designate makes the final decision on the length of the suspension and I want to reiterate in the NFL's eyes, 6 games was not enough.
NFL appealing Deshaun Watson's 6-game suspension, league says
"The NFL is challenging at orbiters decision to suspend Cleveland quarterback Desean Watson 6 games for violating the league's personal conduct policy Two dozen women had accused Watson of sexual misconduct during massage treatments while he played for Houston in her first case since the NFL and the players union jointly named her disciplinary officer former federal judge Sue Robinson issued the 6th game ban The league was pushing for an indefinite suspension of at least a year and is now appealing which means commissioner Roger Goodell or someone he picks can impose a harsher penalty The union could then challenge the appeal in federal court
AP sources: Browns QB Deshaun Watson suspended for 6 games
"AP sources say Cleveland brown's quarterback Duchenne Watson will miss several games following sexual misconduct accusations Two people familiar with the decision say the NFL's disciplinary officer has suspended Watson 6 games for violating the league's personal conduct policy The league itself had pushed for an indefinite suspension of at least a year and now has three days to appeal Sue Robinson's ruling The players union had already said it would abide by whatever she decided Watson has settled nearly two dozen suits by women accusing him of sexual harassment and assault during massage appointments His suspension would start with the regular season opener meaning he'd be eligible to make his browns debut October 23rd in Baltimore I'm Sagar Meghani

"We have a double interview show, two interviews, one show, been a little while since we've done an interview. We a couple of weeks maybe, but now we're just coming back with two. You never know what the fuck you're gonna get with foreplay. We got myself Frankie Trent, and then we get bubba Watson, and we got Matt every two completely different people to completely different topics of discussion among the two of them. Baba has a book out up and down is what it's called. We get into mental health in the book and bubba and win in the masters are going to Knicks games. And then that average just came in from surfing and was talking about how he sucks at golf now, so he's going to get into TV and how that's one of the main requirements and how he's got a good personality things he'll be great at TV. You know he's two time PGA Tour winner. So you could totally two totally different interviews to fantastic interviews. And I like both these guys a lot, gentlemen. Yeah, a really good mix. Having bubble in here was I mean, I know we do a lot of cool things with this show and on this show and because of this show, haven't bubba Watson in the building is pretty cool. Yeah, it was pretty starstruck if we're going to be honest. We've talked to him already, but when we talk to him, he's obviously over Zoom or whatever we were using at the time. And seeing him in here just being inches away from bubba Watson two time masters champion was very strange to me. Right, like at one point we were sitting in here waiting, and then it's that moment where you're like, oh man, bubba Watson's about to walk into this room. And then he does, and he was super cool and super open and his book obviously he's promoting that. And he was just great. And I also think we do something when we do a regular podcast. It's just us shooting the shit and I think obviously there's a crowd for that. And then when we do interviews, it's a completely different. When they're in studio like that, it almost feels like a mix of both, where they're just joined the conversation. We're talking about the Knicks game last night, and we were talking about him being a Georgia fan, all that stuff and going to Georgia. It's just different as opposed to just being back in New York City and having people here and not over the zooms and over the Internet. It's just so much better being able to talk to people. Didn't it feel just so much more personable this time where you're actually able to see him answer you? And you can see if something mattered to him, he would almost like close. You're in the mix with bubba. It was fucking awesome. Yeah, and we've obviously been doing zoom podcasts for a while now. And because of the pandemic and, you know, now we've got different people on different parts of the country. But then, yeah, when you have somebody sitting next to you, it is different. The dynamic is definitely different..

"Unfolded in this country. Well you know. I i can. I can see why you. How do i say this. I don't wanna say the wrong thing. You know but i believe that. The feminist movement was important for a lot of reasons. You know women were badly for. You could be putting a mental institution. Your husband decided to have an affair. The crazy stuff that used to go on how men would just roll over. Women financially emotionally. Spiritually has been wrong and women didn't need to stand up to it but i do believe that the importance of a mother doing a good father doing a good job together to raise children together. Equally is what we're talking about the feminist movement. Maybe some some of it was a little extreme. But you know sometimes you have to get extreme to get people to listen and wake up and you know you can. You can have a career and still be a mother maybe not in the first couple years. It's more difficult but you have to have a good understanding with your partner in order before you have children people sleep together too soon. They produce children too soon and next thing. You know you've got this terrible relationship where you're trying to have children right and raise good children who well right and then you. That's in essence right. If we're not intentionally teaching or parenting mentoring our children. Then there's going to be a problem. Well yeah because it's a trickle down from the top. It's no different than a company. You know how you run a company. Why your home. How knew how you run your government you know. Well i mean this. Is you know whether it's the feminist movement or being a parent. The hierarchy isn't the problem. It's the person in the role right. It's not the system that's the problem. We have good and bad kings. We have good bad president. We have good and bad parents. We have good and bad feminists right and and so it's not the system of hierarchy that is oppressive. it's the person that's in the role And we have to engage and take our roles seriously. And and i think what i'm you know referring to right here really is about being a role model and being intentional right away in which we mentor and teach our children. Well you know. I agree but i do think that women should be involved in any decision Whether it be as a family. And i'm gonna pull you in junior. What are you thinking as a man about feminism would. How do you feel. About feminism feminism. Sorry feminism feminism. How do you feel about junior. I mean i. I think everybody's equal i mean it's you know i issue of equality i yeah. I don't know. I mean it's just That's i don't know. I feel like everybody has equal rights to everything. I don't think i've ever should be a you know anybody should be treated differently. I've always been like that the way i work and how i treat co-workers and stuff i mean i don't know i think i think it's it's it's fine for i think women now. I think they feel stronger now than they ever have. And i think that's great Yeah i do. Think that. I that i Perhaps should just clarify in terms of the feminist movement possibly being influential on mentally soft generation. Is that We need to continue to support. What whether it's the father or the mother somebody being intentional at home raising children and that's okay role to have vital role to have. Okay well let me ask you this. What do you when you say mentally soft. Can you define mental toughness. What do you define mental toughness right. Let's just clarify what. The terms mean so in terms of mental toughness. I've always defined as the ability to regulate your emotions. Manage your thoughts and behave appropriately. No matter what your circumstances are so. So then what does softness. Meanwhile it's an in ability to regulate your emotions and the in ability to manage your thought and then you behave poorly certain circumstances and you behave poorly and you don't wanna hear about it afterwards so you never change the happen. I don't wanna hear about it. I don't wanna change. I have a right to be mad. I have read. And i'm like no actually no you don't so so i know you wanna talk about pursuing happiness so how does pursuing happiness create mental softness. Let me just i. I love this question. 'cause i i really think there are too strong beliefs that i have seen over these last twenty five years tend to get people into trouble and one of them when somebody comes in and they're like and they've written it down and they verbalize it. My goal in life is just to be happy. I'm like we're going to have a problem. Very there is the example of a mentally soft perch. If your goal in life is to just be happy. Or i hear parents say that. I just want my kids to be happy. Well first of all. That's not a an achievable goal. People can't be happy. Twenty four seven and it's very normal given life circumstances especially when we think about what transpired around the world and in this country and the last year and a half you're not going to always have butterflies and rainbows in stomach or in your mind. There are aspects to life where anxiety is normal. Fear is normal. Anger is normal. But you gotta be able to manage that and you got to be able to. You know manage your thoughts that are generating those types of feeling now other belief that has to be a struggle is. I want to be fair. That one gets people in trouble as well. Yeah yeah it does. Absolutely well. And i feel that this carries over even into getting sick like no one wants to kids to get sick anymore. Oh my gosh. Let's vaccinate away every single virus out there if we can. I don't want my kid to get sick but through getting sick your immune system gets stronger through going through adversity. Your mind gets stronger right. And there's an association to it. They're definitely is like. Oh my god the measles. Oh you know. The measles used to be a nothing and back and back when the brady bunch was on the air. The measles was like a joke. Okay the mighty ducks movies. They were joking about the measles. Measles was not a big deal until we made it into a big deal. Started yet right. That'll doesn't come when things are easy. It comes on to get through adversity. Yeah yeah and you we. Nobody even wants to catch a cold anymore. We've got our society is so fearful over this covert thing that we've completely lost are freaking minds. You get a cold going. Oh my god it's cove and you know. I'm going to die the world the you know the the is gonna fall. What's happened to us like seriously. We are so mentally soft. Well i think you just yeah junior. Help me out here. I mean. I think what you're saying. I agree with what you're saying that anything. That's it all right. Well i'm looking at the clock. I need to take a breath and you got me started. Kip hey everyone good. Hey that's right it is it is. We need to talk about this. That's what talk radio is all about. We'll be back more coming up with kip watson. you're listening to one life radio. "John the short answer is we don't know the nfl doesn't know to shawn. Watson doesn't know and the texans don't know that's our own sara barshop on outside the lines acknowledging just a few of the unknowns in the disturbing saga of deshaun watson but that number twenty two as in the twenty. Two active lawsuits filed by twenty. Two different women is why those questions have only just begun today. Why the f. b. i. is involved in this case. Why watson's accusers say the. Nfl is asking the wrong questions. And why the superstar quarterback is still showing up to work for a team that he wants to escape. I'm pablo torre. it's monday. August twenty third. This is espn daily. Sarah barshop. you're our houston. Texans beat writer. Thanks for coming back on. Espn daily thanks for having me back. So the texans won their game saturday. They beat the cowboys. Twenty two fourteen. We're going to talk more about how the teams looked in a football context and a bed but the most notable fact of the entire proceeding. Sarah is the fact that texans quarterback to shawn did not play was surprising to you at all now. It wasn't because right now. The texans are kind of acting for the most part that he's not really part of this team in terms of him being on a football field in playing in a game and david kelly. When he talks about the quarterbacks he's mostly talking about the other quarterbacks on the roster. I mean they really. Don't talk about shawn watson in football context so he didn't play in the first game against the packers he didn't play against the cowboys and i'd be surprised to see him in the preseason finale against the buccaneers david kelly. Of course the new head. Coach of the texans sarah and yes to shawn watson sat out against the packers. The texans had one that preseason game also for whatever that's worth twenty six to seven but watson and how the team talks about him and his absences. How would you characterize how they do that. It's very much avoiding the topic. And from the very beginning. David kelly if he heard john watson's name really kinda of deflected the question and would say not much has changed. Or there's nothing new with watson even if that wasn't really an applicable answer to the question nothing new on the sean nothing new today on and last week for the first time. He talked about watson more and elaborated on him. Johnson here Again every day. He's here to in works he does. He does what we asked him to do. And you know he's here today but it was never really in a way of okay. He's gonna play in these games. So what we talked about with you on this show back in march. Sarah is still true today. Which is that. The shawn watson faces more than twenty lawsuits filed against him for sexual misconduct and sexual assault. That is the story here. There is a separate criminal investigation. That's going on involving several of the same women in those lawsuits but just to clarify for everybody. Here shawn watson still has not been arrested on any criminal charges and so he is allowed to play into practice. Is that how all of this works. Basically at right and for training camp the nfl came out with a statement. Basically saying we done some investigating into this but we haven't completed our investigation and deshaun watson is eligible to take part in all team activities and the texans first of all didn't really know if he was going to report training camp. They weren't sure the night before. They weren't really sure that saturday night and when he did report they still thought maybe the nfl with them. Put them on. The commissioner's exempt list before training camp practices. Actually start in. That didn't happen yet from a four sarah. All of this looks not just awkward but deeply uncomfortable for everyone involved shawn watson included his employers included. And i'm just watching from afar. But it's hard to avoid the fact that this is a star quarterback who was very publicly famously wanting out of the houston texans and so the idea that this same quarterback who is now facing more than twenty lawsuits for sexual misconduct and assault is showing up reporting to training. Camp i mean what were the consequences. If he didn't do that because it sounds like he kind of had to write. How do you not reported. He would have been fined. Fifty thousand dollars per day of training camp and this is a little different under this new. Cba that fine can't be forgiven by teams so we've seen in the past where someone would hold out. There was on a new contract or the issue is resolved and those fines would be forgiven. That's not the case with watson. And so he felt the need to show up so he's not fine. So here's the shawn watson showing up to practice but doing so kinda sporadically. It seems like like he's there some days he's not there other days or maybe he is but he's somewhere that reporters like you cannot see him. Maybe sarah just walk me through a day of covering this team. What that's like for you because you show up on site. What's the scene like in terms of the media gathered here covering the story what happens so day one of training camp. It was a very large media group. I don't know how many people thought he would actually be there and be reporting but there is media to see whether he would be and since then. It's been a lot of local media. I think the attention is kind of died down even though the story has changed a lot during camp while when colley talks before practice and said he's not gonna address whether anyone is practicing it kind of avoids that question until the next morning availability so we talked to david kelley and then i usually walk over to where i can see the players entrance and we can see the players. Walk down the steps and into the practice field. Keep an eye out for shawn watson. i'll usually take video or photo as he walks by oppose that video and then i'll update twitter. Say whether he is. They're not and then i'll walk over to the other practice field in watch the quarterback's throw in the started practice. And so that's how we get a moment like the one last week. I presume sarah where he snapped at reporters because obviously the media does have this lingering curiosity about whether he's even going to be there on any given day right and i think because the story has changed so much right. It's not like he's been there every single day and there's a video of walking every single day that's not the case. We are there to see if he's practicing and so as we were recording he walks by and says. Why are you guys recording. It's the same thing every day. And he walked off into the bubble and didn't seem too happy and that was the first time he had spoken to us at all during training camp and really since the end of last season so just to be clear than it is not the same thing every single day. It's actually quite the opposite as you have experienced it. Yes absolutely and it seems that it's followed some sort of pattern because for week one. He took part in all four practices week to he didn't take part at least where we were standing for any of them the third week he was there for all four and then the fourth week which was last week. He didn't take part in any practices with his teammates. But on thursday we did see him on the side field stretching in working out with a trainer during practice. And sir what is he wearing in terms of wearing his uniform wearing the red. Don't hit me on a quarterback jersey. What is this whole thing. Look like so those two weeks weeks one in three of training camp. He has been dressed the same way as teammates although he has had that red jersey on when we saw him last thursday when he was just working out on the side field he was just workout. Clothes was not dressed to participate in practice. The one thing collie did tell us last week. Was that deshaun. Watson is getting his work done he said just. Because you're not.

Are you thinking are you stinking. I mean i'm just. I'm just thinking trying to take everything in. And how do i learned from that and fix it and and it is. So we've been talking about it for literally months now. it lessens. The blow in the trade actually happens because we prepare for it mentally emotionally professionally in terms of the media since then and he's in philadelphia. I hope people in that press conference media members grill the crap out of him jeffey. Laurie harry rose knicks. Whomever because they deserve it. All those figures do the shawn. Watson comes to philadelphia aaron rodgers top three quarterback while tom brady and pitman gave me the most talented and if a player ever talented shawn watson. It's not get his twenty five. He has fifteen years ahead of the nfl objectively taking everything else out of the equation just looking at an ina. Vacuum should be leak. What rack for fifteen years. We're going to get an everything saying like from an on field perspective. It makes sense the trade for deshaun watson and obviously we know. What's going on the sean. Wash the sexual assault sexual misconduct cases. That are going against them. A new article had come out from. Espn john barn. Espn nassar and again. I'm recording this on tuesday for monday. Ten women have filed criminal complaints against the guy as well some of those women adding to the civil suits against him so he has twenty four civil suits and ten criminal complaint spot against the people will. It's all civil stuff. He's not going to get in legal trouble no he might he might. So we're talking about the onfield perspective to shawn watson and we know all the bad off the field stuff that comes with green person like that into the law from into the city making him the face of this franchise foreseeably for the next decade. And we'll get into that. All infield the shawn watson obviously five moves town of players. Nfl for quarterbacks at least right on perspective he might get suspended to start the year. Talk i mean. I could see a scenario gets suspended for the whole year. That's probably not going to happen at minimum four games probably six games say trae jalen hurts the jackson. You're starting joe flacco for nearly half the season you're putting on the season. Everyone says all eagles are bad. This going to be bad this season. They might not be as bad people think they're going to compete in a crappy division. But i'm not throwing away this season to sit on my with a thumb. My but i gotta watched the curse on here waiting for this guy. This person this toxic individual to be ready to play for my favorite team and to watch and grapple with the moral dilemma. That comes with watching him play from favorites. Not only that. Those criminal charges aren't going to be settled until next year. Let's say sean misses half the season nearly with suspension. From the nfl as it should happen. We don't know what's going to happen yet. He reported to houston texans training camp yesterday. You were gonna lose a bunch of money. So obviously he's not losing fifty grand a day is due for. I think he's gonna make ten million dollars this year or ten million guaranteed whatever. The number is in. No-one's wasting ten million dollars in my right. So onfield perspective might miss a bunch of games this using armfield respective next year the shawn watson could be in jail for all we know could be serving six months a year. Ten criminal complaints against him. I'm not. I'm not anyone who has legal background. I can't speak to those things specifically but there is a ton of legal trouble waiting down the line so you make the straight and say well maybe he missed some games this year. We're going to be great next year with the shawn watson. he'll be twenty five twenty. Six next year will be ready to go for the next half dozen years decade..

"That project for monday. What the nfl. She's been procrastinating this entire time. And sooner or later you're gonna have to make a call. You're going to have to make a decision so that the texans can proceed and so teams that may be interested in trading shawn watson. They can make a move as well to and from the betting standpoint from the gambling aspect of all of this sport. Line on on social media. Sportsline the oddsmakers. There have a yes or no bet. Wilda shawn watson be traded before week one this season and no is a minus two hundred. Yes as a plus one fifty right now. I love to shawn watson to get out. I think the nfl has made it difficult. But i think the houston. Texans are at a point right now where they just want to move on. I think he's gonna get dealt. And if you believe howard eskin who's been covering philadelphia sports long enough. He has gone on record as saying that. There are three teams in the mix for shawn watson. it's denver. It's miami and it's philly and he said ninety percent chance to shawn watson gets delta the philadelphia eagles that that would be a move. And if you think about it it makes it a little bit of sense from a pr standpoint member. The last time there was a quarterback that was dealt or a quarterback a teammate. A move on a quarterback that had a ton of baggage off the field member. Michael vick where did he land when he got out of prison for all the stuff in the issues. He had off the field with the philadelphia. Eagles they've been down this road before. I think they can handle the pr wise. And if you're the houston texans. You're not trading them in conference. You're not going to get what you thought you could earlier in the off season though that day is dead not happening. But if you're looking around for a move and you wanna make a wager and you wanna put some money onto shawn watson getting dealt. I think he's gone. I think he's gone before week. One because the texans are tired of it and it's now on the team that acquires him to determine. Hey if he's not available for the entirety of this season or this season at all.

"So if you're another team archer saying well let me jump into the fray before it becomes a free for all for eight other teams and see if i can get him sooner than later. And if you don't get him for a full season to shawn watson quite frankly when it comes just football players worth the wait here if you're an east worth if he misses a season he's worth the wait. He's that good now. You gotta decide if you want on your team if it's a disruption if it's character for you or if you think he's going to be suspended or not. That's the other team to decide. Because i don't know commissioner thinking. I know this if i'm the coach today. Nobody's told me any different. I run the ones out there this week. He's gotta take the snaps or you're sending allowed message that you have no intention of plane. We'll finish this hour up. Talk more watson throughout the show. Take your call. Seven three two five seven ninety astros trade deadline rockets draft and possible trade situation. Still ahead as well as the astros sweep the series from a really a pretty bad baseball team. But you still gotta beat the teams. You're supposed to be and they did or does shawn watson talk. What are you guys think is going to happen. My partners and you seven one. Three two hundred five seven ninety. This is coach brian. The goal line touchdown. You've got to sean salisbury. Show on sportstalk seven nine. Go cougs right about now funk so rough check it out now. So the question. You gotta ask ourselves on monday about this. To shawn watson situation is what would you do if you're the texans knowing that it's pending and you have no legal answers..

"One hour number one shawn watson fog here which will be the. We've got so much of what a week watson shows up. The rockets have the draft picks to make and the trade deadline is coming closer. We've already seen a little bit of movement in major league baseball already. So with the shawn watson guys bringing up you see my point of. Why wouldn't he have the matter of fact if you sit at home people fidgety. Not not just him but wanna know what's going on is why would he stay home. They can say all they wanna do. We don't want you to come to training camp. If they were to say that then he's got an awesome. They don't want me there. But i'm under contract. What do i do. So it's brilliant to save him the money and it's just as smart and if all you guys everybody who wanted an answer about what. They thought about their quarterback. You're gonna get when david. Kelly says first team for about two or three practices in a row. I guess we'll..
