"The Lakers lose to the Washington Wizards dropping this game not pretty and over time 1:27 to 1:20 for the Lakers fall. They they need gas. I think we're at that point. They are completely out of gas. They are done right now and they need the All-Star break and fortunately they still have to play it's five or six more games before they can get there. But this team looks like they just have nothing left in the tank late in the game. They just didn't have it early on things look pretty good. Here's what happens with interest rates. The economy heats up, which it is doing. Interest rates go up. Inflation goes up. Now We're not talking to astronomical numbers. But if you're talking even incremental numbers on refinancing your house boy, does that add up over the years quickly so good idea to consider refinancing your home even if you did it last year because interest rates are still historically insanely low. NBA: John Wall scores 24 as Houston Rockets beat Russell Westbrook, Washington Wizards

"John wall scores twenty four to lead the rockets over the wizards one zero seven to eighty eight lee big takeaway from well. It was a pretty close game until john. Wall really took over the last seven minutes. There hit a couple of shots made some plays and and got his victory now. Coming into this was a couple of story lines of course beal and and john wall would teammates here in washington for a lot of years now. Their relationship didn't really end in a hostile way. It was more just like the team moved on. So john wall was more trying to prove a point to his team. In the franchise and the wizards rather than ex teammate there. I in bradley bill. And then you also of course you had wall and russell westbrook who were traded for each other just prior to the season and now that one was a little bit more spicy. But i think that's probably more westbrook than in the us both on a minute restriction but yeah i mean it was. It was a close game but The the rockets pulled away in the end. And really i mean i. it's post game. You saw bradley. Beal who had another good performance for the washington wizards just looking completely distressed on the sidelines. And really the question. Out of this game is we've been kind of asking and alluding to the last couple of weeks. Anyways is does bradley. Beal stay with wizards for the rest of this season. Because they going nowhere right now. He's putting up right numbers. There's no question. He would be in demand and i think he needs to move on from the wizards as well. So you know. That's that's probably the biggest talking point. I think coming out of this guy because you know it's it's not neither seems really a a threat to was. The rockets guess could make the playoffs but Certainly not a contender. So it's really just do. The wizards hit the reset button. He move on from bradley. Beal may even move from westbrook if they can get a first round. Pick out of him because I just can't see this thing going anywhere for the remainder of this season. Yeah every loss. That piles up there for the wizards trae. It does feel like the echo chamber gets a little louder with the trade deal. Save bill get him out of there. Hey beal ask the front office to move you. There are three in ten now. they're one in eighteen games. Westbrook has played. He has not looked great. He was He was just visibly upset last night. And then you started talking. Some trash with wall was given it back to them and walson after the game russ has been kicking my ass for years. My third win against russell westbrook that he's been in the league this john wall talk it so i don't know if it's any more than that just a frustrated westbrook but yeah what do you think about the idea of will be just like go to front office. They do not want to be here. Because i don't want to be on a team. That's not going to be a playoff tournament in just signed that huge deal though right like he's still got two seasons after this one the westbrook in wall donnybrook. What happened there Westbrook goes by wall walls down and it seems to me like he was basically saying yeah. I tripped because you could see westbrook saying back to him. It doesn't matter what matters like as he upset is wallops at that. Westbrook is trash talking him for tripping over his own. That's what it might have been. They hit him with the double tax. And everybody just moved on. But if you're bradley beal despite the fact he's got this huge deal still on the books to be frustrated man because he had twenty five through the first three quarters and then in the fourth quarter it feels like he's not even getting the ball like feels like he's barely getting a touch. I know he had eight points. He took a bunch of shots but there are times when he just doesn't even get a look from westbrook he'll just be standing at the top of the court. It feels like kevin durant waiting to get the ball all over again. But i don't know you kind made your bed now sleep in it.

NBA 2020-21: Philadelphia 76ers Beat Washington Wizards Despite Bradley Beal's Record-tying 60 Points

"This evening eked out a 1 41 toe 1 36 win over the wizards up by a whole lot more. Early in the third quarter. I believe they're up by as much as 21 points before relinquishing that lead Washington how to briefly in the end, Sixers came through and be with a big night. We're going to talk about all of that. As well, as you know, we want to get excited, right? We want to get, you know, like all in like, throw caution to the wind that should say and then go all in with the 70 Sixers team, but Only eight games into the season. We've been here before, and that's why we have to bring in an expert someone who has covered this team for many, many, many years nice enough to join us. From the Bucks, County Courier, Times Intelligencer, Burlington County Times and occasionally USA Today Sports. His name is Tom or what's up, Tom? John. How you doing tonight? Tom, You know you spent the evening at the Wells Fargo Center. As you have so many nights over the years, Tom, let me start with tonight's game six years held. I believe it was a 21.20 or 21 point lead at some point in this game. Clearly, I mean, relinquish it to the point where they completely gave it up Washington to lead but they came through in the end. Um I guess time I wouldn't want to ask you first is when they gave up that lead. What was from your standpoint? What was the chief reason? Why was it lack of focus? Was it something Washington was doing? What did you see? All the sixes have been scorned kind of will. And I think what happened was when, when, uh, Doc Rivers went to his bench like midway through the third quarter. I think they kind of were still into that score mode, and they did not really clamp down defensively. And Bradley feel You know what Just went nuts. You played the whole third quarter. He had 25 in the third quarter 25. They were up 19 with 2 32 to go in the third quarter. Yeah, John, I've covered the NBA for 33 years. That's tied for the most points I've ever seen in an NBA game. Alan ever, said 16 on February 12 to 6 and five at the center against the Magic. That is an incredible amount of points. Or an NBA game? Yeah, e get six is a lot of credit that you know you're right. The Wizards went up to when Meadow hit that little shot with about seven minutes, having a half minutes ago. And they, you know, they brought the starters back and they kept score, and they got stops in the health field of three points in the fourth quarter. You know and and pulled it out. I mean, they're beating their winning games they should win against means they should be, And I think that's a reason to be certainly cautiously at least optimistic. Yeah, I was going. I mean, you know how many the last two or three years we went through these stretches or through most of the season, where they would lower themselves to their opponent either eke out an ugly victory or end up losing those games and through eight, all of eight games. We haven't seen that thus far. Let me talk. Let me talk about a couple of players on the roster. I got to start with Jo Ellan beat Is this the best Jo Ellan beat has looked as a professional in your eyes. I think he has. I mean, tonight. You don't. He didn't score in the first quarter. I think you missed his first five shot. You know, it was a little lethargic Monday night just wasn't into the game tonight. He was into the game, but he just seemed to be going like 100 miles an hour, missing a lot of shots. And he just He just got to go on ended up with 38. You know, had 10 points in the fourth quarter kind of took over the game when it was, you know, on the line midway through the fourth quarter. Uh, yeah, And defensively, you know, blocking shots from guards driving to the basket he gave. He gave Netto our time after blocking his shots. And I guess it had come like you know you you should know better going to get me in practice. If you know it. This and the sixties, and Doc Rivers is taken advantage of giving him the ball and to his credit. He's taking less threes, and he's playing Maura in the low post and the mid range where he is most effective. You know you brought up Doc rivers, So let me skip away from the players for a moment and go to Doc Rivers. We watch seven years of Brett Brown and would sympathize with him a times and maybe defend him at times because of what he had to work with and what he was dealing with the front office and don't shoot the messenger and everything else in between. Tom, I gotta tell you through, you know, eight games. I mean, Doc Rivers is blowing Brett Brown out of the water. I mean, is he making that much a difference? Well, I mean, I think he he had He knows what he wants, and he's done it before, And I think that really helped When you have that experience you thought with the Flyers with Alain Vigneault after hacks call who was new and was learning on the fly, and I think rep around to a large extent, it's the same thing. You know, he also had shooters that Curry has been fantastic. He doesn't force thing You know, He really doesn't. He gets his threes and in the flow of the game. He's a pretty good ball handler and runs a lot of two million games with oil indeed. No eyes. Good passer. You know, Danny Green starting to play, you know. Feel better offensively, at least, although you know Bradley Beal, holy smokes or cinema towards him and Matisse Bible as And, uh, you know, whoever else uh, you know was on him tonight. But, yeah, I think he has a system. He knows what he wants to do. He's done it before, and he's trying to make the system. That the players rather than make, you know, like he's making the system Revolve around the players rather than trying to do the you know, Square Peg round hole kind of things,

Russell Westbrook traded to Wizards

"Russell westbrook traded to the washington wizards from the houston rockets for john wall and future first round draft. Pick houston that is the most paramount future first round draft pick protection on the first round. Pick that the wizards traded to houston and the westbrook for wall deal. They decided to cash it in in the twenty twenty Twenty twenty three. Nba draft pick is lottery protected. Twenty twenty four the pick. His top twelve protected. The twenty twenty-five pick is top ten protected and then if they want to wait if you want to wait all the way to twenty twenty six to pick his top aide protected then becomes two second rounders now. Jonathan fagin of the houston chronicle. He reported that westbrook wanted to go elsewhere so we can be himself on the floor man. Exactly what does that mean. what is he talking about. Clarify define a little bit more when he speaks about he wants to quote unquote be- himself. Are we talking about the wessel russell. Westbrook that won the where he averaged a triple double. Is that the himself. He wants to be at so that was income through the door and being that effective. I would like to see the be himself. Russell westbrook be the guy that the second year. When he was with paul george where george with the guy that was getting most of the shadow attempts that i wouldn't say was taking a backseat. But you know. He was starting to give more and more of the spotlight to paul george in terms of the acknowledgement that. Hey you know what. We're going to have the team that we want to have the best team that we can be. you know. i've got to be more than just sharing with paul george to give him a little bit more in terms of responsibility at least on offense with the oklahoma city thunder so with him going from houston with james harden and now moving over to play with bradley beal with the team. Tommy sheppard titley owns the such making a point with trade. That bradley beal is going to be the center piece. That bradley beal that franchise guy the bradley beal is going to be the russell. Westbrook of the washington wizards that Brooklyn no his role on a team in terms of saying look you know when everything is all said and done this state. The oklahoma city thunder the way. I had it for a couple of years especially after kevin durant left. This is bradley. Beal's team and i have to let him grow in that responsibility for for ever long. The bill was broke. Rockets’ Russell Westbrook Traded to Wizards for John Wall

"Brian windhorst who. I saw yesterday on tv when early in the morning. I saw brian. When i found out that my found out the night before i guess late the night before that westbrook had moved from houston for wall in washington and is everybody knows because they've heard me say two thousand times. I love this trade for washington. But i thought brian would have a better perspective on it because he hasn't been burdened by having to watch the washington wizards for x. amount of years. John wall go nowhere absolutely nowhere. So let me let me start with the most obvious thing and take my prejudices out of this. Why do you make this trade. If you're houston well. I think this is really about the other stars involved. I mean it's hard to say that when you're talking about you know all star. I mean all star point guards. It'd be nine. yeah well. Isn't it all star today. And they and then they forty million dollars. They could traded for each other. I mean this is the definition of a blockbuster. But i'm sitting here saying this is about bradley. Beal james harden and it's different for both of them This is i think houston trying to salvage the situation. Which is they know that. They absolutely positively no westbrook. It are not going work out together. and so they're trying to find a way to keep their fingers in the dam so to speak. I do not think it's going to work I think the fact that they got the first round pick And i think they also hedging. And i don't think this is a strong bat. I wanna be clear. But they're also hedging that if wall recovers from this achilles That it might be better to have him for the next three years and russell westbrook. But i mean you know you're not staking your application on that I think hard and we'll be out of there by the trade deadline. Which looks like it's going to be in late march Maybe well before. But that's what they're trying to do and washington. I you know this is about holding bradley. Beal i mean i don't think it's a revolutionary idea that they have transitioned from john wallace their franchise player to bradley beal. This is clear and while Trust me there are plenty of people out there who have checked in with the wizard checked in with bradley beal however they do that. Are you happy in washington. The answer is still. Yes but the wizards are very aware that that may not be yes indefinitely and so this trade they trade free guy who was on the nba team. Last year. He was thirteen nba And he will in theory. Give them some more ammunition this year to compete with charlotte in atlanta who have upgraded. Their rosters and the wizards need to make the playoffs. This year or i think bradley beal could be out of there. And that's a move in this direction. Is it a slam dunk. Tony no but i think will be a upgrade from what they can expect from john wall.

This a blockbuster deal teams announces yesterday wizard sending wall and a lottery protected 2023 1st Round NBA draft pick to the Rockets for Westbrook in the deal of both both players wanted Have been simmering for for weeks now. So John Waldo, what's he really got it like I remember one of the former number one pick. And this dude, I'm a fan. I'm a John Wall fan, but he got hurt, and he got fat. And like, I just don't know it could be interesting to see what Russ in Washington. I can't. I can't even imagine. I mean the hated diminish this and these are great players. They Hall of Famer Russell. What I mean Russell is that probably is a hall of Famer, but I just don't don't see this altering the NBA landscape. Do you know it really doesn't mean I don't think that maybe John Wall gets reborn somehow in a huge I mean, I don't know. But I hear you on Westbrook in in D. C. It's all they don't want in the east, right?

Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards agree to Russell Westbrook-John Wall deal

"But we do have a whoa bond and the wo- dam is we have a trade and we have houston agreeing to trade russell. Westbrook to the washington wizards for john wall. And a first round pick momo. What are your thoughts on the. That's an amazing. That's an amazing trade for the wizards still russell westbrook. You're talking about. That's still russell. Westbrook man like i'm i know. He didn't have the greatest year the second half of the year. He's really good. It's going to be reunited with scotty brooks. He was you know i voted him. Thirteen mile. mba last year just raced off his second half. I still think he can play to your point real quick before you finish it from january to march before the stoppage he was fan freaking tastic. Yeah i mean us. Great and i think that they. They didn't give any first round picks. Get to get off that contract. The say they had to get to give one for trump. Pick just one of the wizards right just to get off the john walsh. John hasn't played in two years I mean no more recent. Yeah i mean you know in two years doesn't really want to be there doesn't get along with bradley beal. You've just got off of massive problem if you're washington for the low low price of a first round pick and you get russell westbrook and return to play for the for the coach. He's had the best relationship with i mean for washington. It makes all the sense in the world. I'm looking at houston going west to plan your me to blow out your doors and kick out your gm and your coach. You have a plan right. Yeah did you see a player. No i think that the plan will reveal itself. The plan is now either repair. Your relationship with james harden hope that he and john wall workout or your trading hardin next.

Report: John Wall wants to be traded away from the Wizards

"As now. Several reports have Washington Wizards guard John Wall asking to be traded out of D. C. He does not want to be here anymore, does not want to play for the franchise that drafted in 10 years ago. He had many very good seasons. All Star in fact. But he's missed basically the last two years because of AH knee injury, and there were reports that the Wizards were shopping in for possibly was the Westbrook of the Houston Rockets. There was also discussion. This is Bradley Beals team and on the same night that Darvis Burton signs of five year $80 million deal with the Wizards. John Wall, says he does not want to play for the Wizards anymore. Also wizards reportedly signing free Agent center Robin Lopez too. A deal so much coming at you fast. But we do know this again, according to several reports, John Wall, former number one overall pick by the Wizard said so many good years in D. C wants out and has demanded a trade. To the organization. This is just probably the start of an ugly separation of Frank and

"You're about to seize Akil. O.`Neil like you've never seen him before this show about my life just because I have more than the average guy doesn't mean I'm better than the average Guy Jack like all new Thursdays at nine on. Tnt SO I wanted to go down. This other path is. We've never really had had this discussion. We know each other a long time Going all the way back to when I started covering the Lakers ninety seven and you were held media relations with the Denver Nuggets. And here we are all these years later and running the Washington Wizards I think you are. I think you and David Griffin of the only guys who would follow this exact path going and we always talk about. You know we've got this. This wave of agents who have become. Gm's now and with the analytics wave and others but you and David Griffin both have have con- entered the League through the media relations side and then moved through the ranks and able to make that leap over to basketball OPS. Did you know like because I had no idea like we were working together back when I was covering the Lakers? You're with the nuggets. I had no idea that this is where you would end up one day or even the jump that you made to become. Ernie's assistant back in three did you. Did you always have that in mind? There was always going to be the case that you're GONNA try to make that jump and do it from the day that I started working in the in the NBA Wooden Denver Nuggets. Working with Bernie bickerstaff. I think the most important thing to me was to the opportunity to grow and it was the the the door that was open to me was media relations. I came through that door and I was blessed to work with Bernie bickerstaff. My First Year Tim. My wake was actually the president of the of the nuggets business side so those are two guys that are titans in the industry in in both of them were very urging. That's on ninety four. You know we didn't have the staff that we have now so one thing that I was able to do. As a as a media relations director was just constantly pick. Bernie's mind but he needed help. There was very small staff. You're trying to get extra information in scouting all those opportunities. I just always ask them what what jobs that he have that nobody else wanted and I would do those jobs in addition to do on regular duties with Pr Bernie really helped me grow. He gave me a lot opportunities to scout in ninety six. I worked the Atlanta Olympics and I was with USA basketball quite a bit. So I got a chance to scout on that entire Olympics. And we'd actually just acquired sharunas smart chaloner's from Sacramento Crazy Olympics we lost the campaign mumbled free agency to the hawks. This saint time and we actually had drafted a player from Greece. Who was playing on the national team so at the Olympics? A lot of stuff happened for me that gave me opportunities to become more regular give. Contributions from scouting side does group. You know what I wanted to do was be in the NBA. When I was six years old to play in the NBA. Julius erving was my idol. That's all I wanted to play in the NBA. And somehow that evolved. When I got to high school I knew I wasn't going to play in the NBA. But how could I get to the of yet? In getting in the door through media relations it was really about working in the League or Patriots and just evolved but my biggest desire was always put team together so I'm just so blessed and very very lucky to be where map. This is exactly the job I always wanted to be a GM of an NBA team. All those years you know people ask WanNa do what I do and I said well you gotTa do what I did. Put in twenty six years of being away from my family and really give up everything. I could just make our team better So so it's very satisfying. Certainly to be where I'm out. I don't enjoy the view looking back very much when I do look at it. It's been amazing. Ride for twenty six years but the view looking forward to so much more positive for me awards. GonNa go have an opportunity to work with such great owners. Such great city would players like Bradley You know it's very gratifying. You tell me Your Story. Such a great example of how. It's not necessarily. You don't have to train for a specific thing right. You didn't have to go to sportsmen business management school or something or be go up through the scouting ranks necessarily to them become the seventh in line and then the fifth in line and the work your way up that like there's different routes to this and that people who are smart analytical thoughtful obviously dedicated willing to put it in all the work that you can come up variety of paths and I always I just. I think he's a great lesson for anybody in any industry but certainly in the NBA that there's not one path to to running a team and coming through the media relations route. Get to meet a bunch of great folks like me. You know all all the pain in the ASS beat writers asking you for all kinds of stuff. I always appreciated by the back of the. This is what I always. I don't know why this is what I remember telling me like all the things you did. It's insulting to to list this one. I I just remember that you always had like a nice postgame spread of food in the work room so we were on deadline. Our blood sugar wasn't like you know diving and everybody wanting to kill each other so like appreciate that kept us fed back in the day but some of those nuggets teams weren't very good. I figured out the least we do watch basketball which they at least give you a good meal and some cold beer but You know everything for me that sports top media. I play basketball my whole life but when when I got to college I ended up. Playing football assigned the big thing. I've always taken for from from my athletic career which was not very distinguished but my athletic ray always told me about teamwork on the youngest. Scotty Brooks is the youngest of Seven. We both know to get along with people. You better figure out how to motivate had to have great conversations hard conversations how to get along you do that every day of your life through the youngest seven especially but within the confines of team you always know that no matter what for that thing to succeed everybody has to have a role everybody has to work together and everybody has to have a work ethic. That's extremely high competitive. And I've taken that everywhere I've gone in the NBA. The best players on the plan. And they're the funnest guys to watch. And you know I watched you in your career and you. You got a chance to watch once in a lifetime. Kobe Bryant in watching him come up and some of the pictures I saw as we reflect back on Kobe's career there. You always worry right in the corner so right when he came into the League when people were made me doubt number maybe thinking. Hey this guy's not all that when he was nineteen years old the series and. Utah's stuff and it will you both of us have seen this the trajectory of the League where it was where it's going the league's always going to have talent. They're always going to be in good hands but to enjoy the ride while we're going at is the most important things scraped players today watching the last reminder. There's great players for guess what there's GonNa be great players that are gonNA become an in the future you mentioned Bernie Bickerstaff as among the mentor. Figures there as you as you're coming up the ranks whether it was Bernie or whether it was Dennis Lou whoever else like what is there something that's stuck with you. You're still today like this. Is this is how you knew how to pursue any part of the business whether it's player relations whether it's scouting whatever it may be in that the basketball operations world. What's what are the lessons of stuck with you from those guys but one of the pivotal moments for me? It was. It's always. It's about relationships on percent and we had a situation where we actually traded a player. Antonio mcdyess was traded to Phoenix that summer and then there was a lockout and then he was wondering more coveted free agents that year and it was assumed he's GonNa go back to Phoenix and we ended up getting back to Denver at the time in that during that time. Dan this'll give me a great opportunity to help recruit Antonio as a free agent back and that was unusual. I've still kind of your guy. But to have that responsibility I think spoke volumes to me that they value my relationship with Sonia and to bring him back to DC or to to Denver. Excuse me he was an all star. he was tremendous tremendous person. And I think the relationships are what brought back. Obviously his career anew. He moved on after several years. Those relationships at that time that that opportunity to help recruit him back to Denver. I think is one moment that really felt like you know what I have pretty good relationship with players. And I think I can make an impact and I think that's GonNa make me valuable to franchise moving forward to my wife and I. We've been married twenty six years. We thought for sure probably moving around every three or four years. That's how the sports business goes. We've been in two places I've been with two teams twenty six twenty six years. That's a man. What a bus. Yeah it is amazing. And I'm very grateful for that but as I look back. It's all about the relationships with players that I really take back. There's been an art losses. That have been great. Wins is never high enough to cover the lows but the relationships value. I think that's what got me. The opportunity to be where a mets mcdyess Kabbalah too and before the injuries and everything he was good he was granted. Today would be around. Some good was last night as a matter of fact your watch them via TV. It showed the nineteen ninety. Four is the first time an eight ever be to one. So Denver had beat Seattle that year in Seattle and only lost four games at home and the the nuggets. I was actually still. Unlv at that time but watching the nuggets there. You know I remember watching Robert Pack now Robertson of our assistant coaches that I still keep up with the funds as well as Scott all the time and Brian just down the Road Old Dominion Decamping tumbles. A huge part of my life. The ties that we make those relationships. They don't end when you leave. They they continue and this is among the reasons why I always advocate. We should go back to the best of five first round because the eight one upset like it never happens anymore. I know there's been some somebody went up. Sets the best of seventy two but man a nugget over Sonics was one of the all-time great upsets and of course it's one of those iconic images of Cambay on his back holding the ball with both hands in front of his head so emotional like such a that was just such a joyous amazing moment. I remember I remember watching that game actually before my Mba beat writing career began. But Yeah I love the best of five first round yes I know. I'm never getting it back. Although maybe this maybe this year we got you never know maybe best of the three first round this year for. We know a couple of months before I let you go. I don't think I knew until I was looking at your bio you're from Albuquerque. Originally so I I got ask are you are you a breaking bad and better call Saul Fan because we've been we've binged bread breaking bad so that we can watch better call Saul. We caught up on that. And the finale for the most recent season was just the other night are you. Are you into the that that whole saga? I am an avid fan of breaking bad in better call. Saul actually probably better than breaking bad. The more I watch the shows the Oh those shows put put albuquerque on the map Around the around the world actually when I go travel in Europe and talk players With some of the first things we talked about. Where we're from and I say Albuquerque New Mexico and they always looking Michael Breaking bad so I guess you gotta be famous for something. But I'm a huge follower of those shows. They're phenomenal we. We've traveled in New Mexico a little bit of vacation. There are a couple of years ago when we hit ghost ranch. And we did Santa Fe Albuquerque and just one is. It's it's absolutely stunning. Just gorgeous. And Yeah of course. The the Meth lab part of the show is the drug trade. Not What you want to be known for but if it's a at least if nothing else introduce people to just what a gorgeous part of the country that is I just remember the driving down the highway there just the contrast of this this deep blue sky and the various tones of of of the mountains canyons desert. Whatever it just. It's it's gorgeous. I Love I love that part of the country. I want to get back there at some point again. We had A. We had a blast out there and I was grateful to be from there and I think and I think you're right better call Saul. The critics are now saying this. Did they feel like it has surpassed breaking bad? Both of them phenomenal..

"Louis Feed Bank and feeding America. So you guys have been really engaged is bid. Just been part of kind of the way you you know many ways in which you pull the team together at a time like this you can kind of make me channel guys into the cause here and you know focus on on what everybody can do proactively. Certainly everything starts with with the generosity of our ownership group and Ted Leonsis head of monumental. Sports is always had the double bottom line. We have very much about being great neighbors and caring about the community around us and it just trickles down to everybody and organization so the wizard side our players actually approached said. Hey what can we do? How can we help? And you try to solve things. I start locally in offbeat that are on the front lines in DC. The healthcare workers that was something or out more. Nate and ward eight is an area. That's at as has Has Really recognize a lot of the economic recovery of other parts of DC is still up in common in our facilities kind of the temple of Ordway to we want to reach out and having relationships with hospitals that are closest toward a is there on the front lines working with the Kobe patients and stuff so that was just a small thing. Everybody on our team is doing something. Either here in DC something in their own hometown to making the world a better place if it's feeding people if it's if it's extra money For for gift cards for people that are having trouble making ends meet every players out there trying to do stuff and Bradley and John Certainly been at the front of that but all of our players have reached out and make connections and made donations the thing that the feeding the front miss a real simple way that we could show our gratitude for people that are really putting themselves at risk every single day to help help helpfully get people back on their feet. Yeah no that's great As it has been very cool just seeing the the NBA has been. I'm sure I'm sure the other sports have to probably. I'm not paying close attention but I do think the NBA's been really good On this across the board being really engaged and also not just the all the contributions and everything else but Steph curry interviewing Dr Fao. She an all day thing. It's it's been it's been cool. It's been very fun to see all right. So if you'll indulge me on this I I was on a podcast with Fred Katz. Great Wizards beat writer for the athletic. A few months back and I I've laid out why I think and this is the awkward conversation to have reported to. Gm We're friends. So I know you'll take this the right way. I'm not advocating. The Bradley beal should leave the wizards. But I've I've kind of laid out a few times including on Fred's podcasts. Why think it feels to me almost inevitable in this in this era of player empowerment player movements superstar movement? That that we're on a path here so let me lay out the the because it's only fair if I if I'm going to put this case out there tell me what I'm wrong. Or what the counter argument is I look at bill and I say he's. He's turning twenty seven in June. Two Time All star eight years in coming off one of his best seasons certainly statistically but did not make the all star team probably in large part because of the wizards record. That's that's held him back a little bit and certainly a point of frustration. He's he's he's been upfront about that. been in the playoffs. Four Times has not been past the second round and his his co star. John Wall is turning thirty in September and coming off of one of the toughest injuries in the NBA to recover from. And so my feeling is I would totally understand it if I'm not. I'm not advocating this. But if I were his agent maybe if I were anybody in his camp I'd be saying well you know what you gotta you gotTa look at where you are. You're firmly in your prime. Your Co Star is coming back from this really tough injury. He's about to turn thirty wizards got some some short-term cap issues here still you know Tommy Sheppard I know zoom be doing all these great things now as as GM but can you afford to wait that long. Bradley beal to me just seeing the way. This league has gone the last five to ten years and you and I have been around about the same amount of time in this league. You we've seen were things have shifted and guys are taking it on themselves to say you know what I I. It's it's my career. I'm going to steer it and if I don't WanNa wait or if I think there's a better path to winning somewhere else I'm GonNa go. We've seen it many many times. We don't need to go through all the examples but the basic outline of it and then the last piece of that is this too. I know that modern medicine is great. And I'm sure John Wall as you've noticed working his tail off to get back to who he was but no one's one hundred percent after an Achilles so even if he's at eighty percent ninety percent whatever it is even at one hundred percent they were not getting out of the second round in prior years. So I look at all that and I think it would be reasonable to feel like this is where this is going to tell me where I'm wrong or what I missing or what. The counterargument is for bills. Long term. Future. With the wizards well. It's always something that I take into consideration what you're saying certainly but I I will tell you this in no offense at all but you don't know Bradley beal not putting on the scale that Bradley's his own man and you're right it does happen around the League but he made a decision this summer to extend with us in his whole thing is I want to be that I plays with one team mile entire friend of mine entire career. I WanNa be the guy that made the change and help us. Elevate this franchise and go win a championship. And he has strong shoulders to carry this franchise. We built this team from three years ago when we were in the playoffs. Last you know the only players left on our roster next season We had his John Wall and Bradley. Beal you know the NBA changes fast. We add team. That was About eight minutes from going to the conference finals against Boston broke down in the fourth quarter on the road of a great series and since then John Really hasn't been healthy. Radley got us to the play offs the following year basically on his own We lost Toronto in six games. And then ever since then we've add difficult injuries but we changed our entire roster this summer when I sat down with Bradley actually at the end of last season we did our exit interview. Ask them what is it? GonNa take for you to believe in us to believe there was a change. I was the interim general manager Russell. Tell me what it's GonNa take for you to be part of this franchise moving forward and first and foremost is hey. Let's let's have the best possible work ethic highest character. Guys guys just WanNa work their butts off and get better everyday. That sets the tone that Bradley beal wants and we did that. We we change our roster completely as I said. Have a lot of young guys. We have some key additions. Britan's Ish Smith you know and I think when you add some of the thesis that we did Through the drafts. Through some trays. We kinda netted out with a pretty exciting roster with eight guys. Twenty three and younger that that can grow and Bradley's these is in the prime of his career and I think you'll be all NBA team this year as a matter of fact but I think he really was excited about what this first season. What he saw under under our leadership. I believe that he has been unbelievable partner in all the building that we've done he's been consulted on everything. I ask his input constantly. He's been. He has a great relationship with our coaching staff. And and we talk about Ford Player. Development is and all of our young players. Bradley's player development went up this year. He took his game to another level. he was robbed of an All Star. Opportunity this year. For whatever reason the coaches didn't select him I think he's made a point to make sure that they understand. It might have made a mistake and I see him being on the NBA team. As I said those are things. I don't think matters Bradley as much so. Let's get to the playoffs win games. That's what he's about in again. I I know you've interviewed him over the years but really being around I've seen the transformation she walked into our doors. The day he turned nineteen years old. And I've spent pretty much his whole career with him and I think we have always been very transparent with each other and he made it clear to me. This is where I WANNA be. I WanNa win and let's put the pieces together. I'm patient. I'll do whatever we have to do. This year will get John Back. That's GonNa be a big piece but we're going to grow and guess what I'm getting better every day. And that's Bradley saying that. And I know he can help carry this franchise if we've been patient but we're not going to be very patient very long. We want to win. And I think all these young players have shown no the drafting of Bradley was very fond of that. Some of the additions mobile bogner and obviously troy ground continues to grow. And you start throwing names out there and I don't WanNa leave anybody out but we have plenty of good young players to go with Nice roster and I think the addition of diabetes opened Bradley's IRA as the two brads used to be in the best shooter every Single Day in the gym. He goes into the guy who can challenge on that and and that really helps spread the floor and improve Brad. These opportunities on Florida's have a better shoes with him and adding Thomas Brian over the last year. All these guys Bradley if he didn't mention them by name you mentioned them by trade. This is what we need and we went out and acquired those things and now you've got to be patient and grow. I'm nobody's more impatient than I am and I really determined. I think this year we were on a pretty good trajectory. Some bad injuries at key moments of the season where we lost ruined for twenty plus we lost Wagner. We we're in women the doors open. We'll be in the nice spot you know. We were still competing for a playoffs spot this year in spite of all the injuries have John. So I make the case that I'd take my cues from Bradley and we talk every day and he loves what we're doing these excited about teacher think he's up for the challenge and I know he's under contract so we're in a good place. And he's never given any other indication other than how much he loves his ear and what she's looking forward not even just. I always going to his you know his Jersey to the rafters one day but it only matters damn splitting of Jamshid band up there. It's up to us to put that together. We have great leadership with Ted Leonsis. That's where all franchises are going to succeed or fail based on owner. Ted Ted has been the most committed owner of ever dealt with professional sports and he's all about championships he's got the capital's race abandoned the mystics raise the banner arena football teams. Raise the banner. So course whereas the wizards we're going to do that and we have. What is our absolute goal moving forward? But you can't cut cut corners to get there. We gotTA build it the right way. You mentioned financially. I think we're going to be in a good place moving forward. I cannot predict what the caps gonNA look like. That's not here to discuss Able to add through the draft that through free agents certainly get a roster better when you forward and that's what I'm looking forward to with Brad so at a long answer to your question so it was a long question so you know in a long preamble by me so it deserved a long detailed answer so see what people don't get to see right now or maybe they saw t shirt but it. It says we're not shutting down either of us going to on that. I'm GONNA tell you this Bradley bill for every indication he's given us. He is very happier and moving forward. He's looking forward to the challenge. And that's all great to hear and that is the kind of detailed and thoughtful response I would expect from ut ship and listen ultimately abundantly clear to fans..

"Stay away for me because I need to go and be put myself out there because I need to make money and when that happens if you start doing that the NBA is going to follow suit. They're not going to be the one I and mighty and stay away. No No. We're not GONNA do it. No no life is going to go live is GonNa go on and people are going to go back and learn to live because once again right now is find the say. I'm not going to work but eventually people need to eat. Not all right but let me read this from Adam silver because I think if you read between the lines here it sounds like Adam silver is suggesting that this could go on for awhile. And that's that's why I have my opinion of this. This was a a him on. Tnt last night. It's a little bit of a long quote so bear with me but it is worth reading. He said Quote what we determined today is that this hiatus will be most likely at least thirty days and we don't know enough to be more specific than that but we wanted to give direction to our players and teams and fans that this is going to be a roughly at least a month but then the question becomes is there protocol frankly with or without fans in which we can resume play. I think the goal is what makes sense here without compromising anyone safety. Frankly it's too early to tell you went on to say when asked about whether or not the season potentially could not be finished. He said quote. Of course it's possible that it couldn't be finished we just don't know more at this point. That sounds like a guy to me. They cannot compromise the safety of the rest of society. They're not going to play games again. If there is a chance that they compromise the rest of the safety I you you took everything that you wanted out of that quote A. Made it into what you wanted to make the like. You disregarded the point that he said. Oh yeah the win that in Ohio. We've WANNA play like with. Of course they WANNA play this way to the airport where he said the red belt just to prove your point. It was like. Oh Yeah but you disregarded the whole first first couple of sentences that he wants to play. They're losing millions of dollars. They already lost millions of dollars earlier this year with the China. Daryl morey situation of course they want to play but it's not about want it's about the same. I I don't know if it's about the safety of a potentially spreading further. And until you know that you won't do that I can't imagine the NBA is going to be like well. There's a chance that we could spread this further if we start playing games again but we need to make more money. I I don't know I just feel like they are not this unless they know. Let me ask you this question now. We'RE NOT CHINA AND WE'RE NOT KOREA. Right but you know that they're the amount of people getting it and the amount of deaths are going down right now in China in China South Korea. Yes but you know why scall- you know why because there are like totalitarian government. They basically put people in quarantine and they separate them from their families and listen there. It's clearly working. We have not been able to do that. And by the way scalp. That happened early. That happened in January in starting in January. This it's now almost I mean by the time they want to get things back to normal. GonNa be April. That's what three months so this idea that we'll be back playing on a couple of weeks in the that's another. I feel like that's another reason why I just don't see it happening. The differences that because that happened already. We're using that as a template look at this is what's happening. We'RE FLATTENING THE CURB. Everyone self quarantine it that would cause this thing to die out now. Is he going to disappear? No but I think what you're ignoring is I? Don't think in thirty days from now when someone gets corona virus. That's twenty eight years old. I think that that person's going to be like I got corona virus. Everything is shutdown around me. I think that the person is going to be like all right. I gotta quarantine but hey that's too bad but you know too bad for him but I gotta continue to live my life and do what I have to do. That's where I think that's the difference. I don't think that people are gonNA be overreacting to this thirty days from now. I think people would wrap their mind around the pluses and minuses. What what life with Corona looks like? Listen I hope I hope you guys right. I hope there's a vaccine. I hope we figure this thing out. I'm not trying to be an alarmist. I just think I'm being real. I think I'm looking at the situation and going. I don't see how it's going to be a short term fix. I hope there's a vaccine. I hope able to figure this thing out. I hope we're able to get people to help that they need and that's outside of the NBA. Obviously I mean we just hope that we as a society and a country can go back to our normal lives as soon as possible. I just based on what has happened in China and what's happened in Italy and the rest of Europe. They're they're ahead or I guess they're they're ahead of us so we can basically predict our future based on their past. I don't know if that's possible but let's I want to do this because I I think we've got a lot of other stuff to get into here and I want to get into the bear aspect of this and some of the teammates being upset reportedly upset with him but scowl before that. "Is that they won't be DC anymore. All these things that say DC like this this great welcome song. Though for your Washington Wizards. Check. Getting funky with it. Yelling at me. Claiborne, who by the way is the producer this program. Had African American believes that whenever I enjoy music that apparently is only written for performed and geared toward the African American audience. If I started to enjoy it in my own very white way. I'm in some way, violating some real that I'm crossing some boundary that I'm I'm not. I don't know why I have to bring race into everything. But I know exactly what that was that look. God we don't have cameras in the studio, very ugly. I like that song. And and it's a great way to get the crowd pumped up for your Washington Wizards, and they'd have to throw it out because it says welcome to DC, and you can't be anymore. If you're state because DC is the district of Columbia, and you're not a district anymore. Goodbye district. No, more DC. I like that. They want to call it new Columbia last time. I checked right. New Columbia or some stupid thing. I am a guy. Here's my biggest argument. Everyone says well, this is taxation without representation we're being taxed by the federal government. And yet we don't have a vote in the house of representatives or in the Senate that's taxation without representation and there, right? So instead of focusing on the representation part, which is not going to happen. How about we focus on the taxation part? How about how about we? I bet you if you made that argument you'd actually win the hearts and minds of the Republican party who ultimately is going to stop this or allow it to happen. And the American people. This is outrageous that we are taxed without any representation. So stop taxing us. This would become Hong Kong on the Potomac. This would be the most prosperous city in America when you take the taxes out, no more federal taxes. No more federal mandates. No, more federal anything. You can't tell us what to do and take our money. If you don't let us have some sort of representation I actually by that. I agree. So instead of fighting for presentation just say so stop telling us what to do. Let us be our own little island of tax free governance here. And let's see what happens can be amazing kidney party in the district. The second that happens. What is your argument for or against granting statehood to the district of Columbia Eleanor, Holmes, Norton, your nonvoting delegate to the house of representatives made a big deal about saying, this is her first and frankly, only act of this one hundred sixteenth congress. It's gonna be HR fifty-one representing the fifty first state, and it's going to get a lot of discussion. So you get the first word here. Washington WMA L nation. What do you say a Mon ammonium as ammonium? I always get this wrong. It's a moan he is in the district. You're on wwl mayo. Why don't you want to be a state of mind? This'll be a great thing. I could say a Mona's calling from new Columbia. Nah. I mean me being a black American living in DC. I mean me personally, I don't want to give up five hundred thirty five representatives that at my disposal. Now, be mindful of DC has to shadow sandwiches and a delegate they have no power. So I have the privilege to go to any Senator any Representative of the. Speak more calls to it. They have to take into consideration, but he just defer to Eleanor or to the shadow sentences. I have access so your reality. I have five hundred thirty five people speak on behalf. I just that's interesting. So you feel like instead of having no representation. You have Uber. Representation. You can take your pick from everyone. They're down capital. So what kind of response do you get when you do that? You know, when I tell people, you know, look at me like when I went to White House. I didn't go to Illinois. The shuttle Senator Senator from went out my original state of South Carolina. And they gave me passes in there. If I wanted to talk to somebody from Utah. I can't I, you know, people just don't really understand the benefit. They really do have but not being a state sting. And by the way, you do have a vote for the presidency that there was a law passed it grants representation in the electoral college. So if anything we three yes. So if anything you have the the president's is your Representative, that's the one federal office that has power that you vote for exactly. And I just as firmly believe that, you know, I don't want to give up those benefits of five hundred and thirty five down to one. All right. Let's get a check DC for the that. They try to do they can pull the purse-strings. They get too crazy. It is kind of nice to have that last little after Muriel and her pals down there at the district office try to pass laws then you got the oversight committee. That says. Yeah, I don't think so about thank you very much. All right. So that's a moaned. This is in his own interests there in the district, and he says, no. Refined leave us alone. All right. What about Donald in? Woodbridge, Donald you're on wwl. Yes, sir. Hi, how are you doing good? What what's your take on this? I don't think it should be a state a lot of people forget that the he was actually donated by landowners tend to federal government or to be the nation's capital, right? And they don't own any land technical like Maryland in Virginia. They have state land. Right. She does not have the Senate, actually. Right. It was it was landowners in Maryland that donated it at that time back in eighteen you know, it wasn't eighteen hundred it was seventeen ninety four. I want to say or ninety three. But there were people living here, and by the way, when it was officially designated as the district of Columbia and became the seat of federal power the people who were living here, Donald they protested. They said, hey, wait a minute. You're disenfranchising us. We don't have a vote anymore. So this does go all the way back to the moment. DC was created. Yes. Take away. The fact that. Federal. Yeah. I mean, that's true. It's a historical fact, but it doesn't necessarily change the principles behind the fact that the people who live here don't have direct representation in in congress. Donald is. It's a fair point. And I think it's in bad, by the way, you know, Maryland might have something to say about hold on a minute. We this used to be our state aright bridge Virginians. You have nothing to say about this. Because the only land you donated the you you took it back except for the airport. All we got his ear a stink airport out of Virginia. Well, that's not true. We took Arlington from you to the cemetery. So we got that as well. That's something and the Pentagon. All right other than the Pentagon. What have the Romans done for us Brian in Alexandria? You're on WBAL. Hey, brian. Hi, thanks for taking my call. Yeah. Just a couple of quick points. One is it was. I'm against it. I get I can't use the argument that the constitution. So the thing about the taxation is that the it's a federal district and the big thing about that. Is that if it became a state, you know, the thing about it now is? It's a military installation speak, and it's very easy as a federal district for the federal government. If God forbid we had some sort of urgency.

"Just a little while. But I just need to get this off my chest. 'cause I'm emotional about this you see, ladies and gentlemen, you might ask yourself. Why the hell is he mess mess mentioning the Washington Wizards you might ask yourself that question might do that. I don't blame you for asking. 'cause they're pretty damn relevant right now. And I get that. But you see, ladies and gentlemen, I like my schedule. And I never apologized for my schedule. I got people looking at me on national television right now. Listen to me on national radio right now. What the hell is he talking about? It's very very simple. My social life matters to me damn it. And I'm not apologizing for it. I happen to like the city of Washington DC. I happen to light Philadelphia, Pennsylvania my second home because I worked there for seventeen years as a reporter for the Philadelphia Kwara happen to love New York City, my home where I was born and raised born in the Bronx raised in Hollis, Queens, New York baby even like Boston because I think their fan base is phenomenal. Don't get much better than Boston. Celtics fans. I'm here to tell you that right now doesn't get much better. But having said all of that because of my work schedule when I'm out west, I'm in two places, I'm in LA on obviously in Oakland because damn it. That's where the worry is are. I just in a flying anywhere else. Anybody else? I wanna see out west. I'll see when they come to L A or Oakland. Those cities that I mentioned that you and eat I'm very very busy, man. I love Charlotte. Love Charlotte went to school with the sale of state, my alma mater, go Rams keep pride die. That's right. I'm not giving North Carolina anti and he loved then he enemy respect the hell out of yellow. But I'm in from Winston Salem state and our fifteen minutes away from Charlotte. I love being down in Charlotte. Just don't get an opportunity to do that much. Who the hell doesn't like the AT L? But we know how sorry that team has right now, they're rebuilding. Trae young is going to be he's going to be nice. And get me started. How I feel about Miami. We all know how much I miss out beach. I just gave LeBron James for leaving to go back to Lake Erie. Take me from south beach, sunshine Biscayne Bay, chilling in a Florida sun covering basketball and the next season the open other season, I'm in four degree weather off Lake Erie doing sports and outside. Why the hell do you think? I didn't like LeBron James, very simple. But that's what under the bridge because he's an LA now. And I love him for it. He's all right with me. But the east coast it's about Boston New York. Philly d c in anytime knows they live up to snuff, go off. Now, you might say well, Steven Huckabee you're going over both the Knicks. It's very very simple. The Knicks perpetually stink. So many times you expect me to say it. I like this Steve mills and Scott Perry and David facility because they're moving in a different direction. I'm going to give them a mulligan. This year next year. I'll be all up in them. If they stink up the joint then and they don't get a marquee free agent free agency. But until then they get past because when you perpetually stink. And you finally changed courts in terms of culture, you need a little time. To Washington Wizards do not have that excuse, ladies and gentlemen. You see when you look at the Washington Wizards and how awful they have been to in eight second worst record in the Eastern Conference. Let's be very very clear about what I'm trying to say the Washington Wizards right now stink. They smell like skunk soup pass gas. Somebody's gotta say it. So I'm saying it they're horrible right now. The reason I'm going off about them is because they're not a horrible team. They're just being horrible because they're not acting like a team. John walls four year. Max extension of one sixty nine point three million dollars hasn't even kicked in yet. It doesn't kick into next season. How do you come into this looking out of shape? You never had a great jump shot. Your game is.

But the ultimate victim of those two games are your Los Angeles Clippers. What is the cheapest seat currently for the Washington Wizards at the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples. Staples Center at six thirty pm Sunday night. I'm not stop you right there. But I'm gonna add a wrinkle in there. Earlier that afternoon the kings host the Rangers. Wow. So you're you're you're sport dollars, even stretched even. So when is when is Rams Packers kickoff five twenty five. No, no, one twenty five. Okay. So you could catch the first period or two of the king's actually the first period of the king. What time to start twelve thirty? Okay. Then wander over the guy walked over to the Coliseum and watch the entire game. The Green Bay Packers. The Rams then pop up Dodger Stadium and catch several innings of that game. And then Mosey down to Staples Center. People aren't doing that. Okay. They're not going to leave the dodger game to go. Watch the wizards play the clip I'm positive ticket price. "There was some talk that Mike booed noser woulda gone there. I wonder how Mike boot noser now feels given that they got quiet for the first year noser apparently was put off by the fact that the expectations would be too. Hi for him a, but he obviously knows coli from his first first couple of years in San Antonio and they were able to fill out his staff. They got Nate Bjorkman. Adrian Griffin, Phil handy's, Sergio, scary alot former Spanish national team coach. So the there to fill out a fine staff, their nurse might be an upgrade on. Casey might not be. I kinda rate that as the see. I think they needed to move on from Casey, and the nurse will be a nice fit for this more modern Rosser. So even with that will see out nurses a lot of time at GE's assistance or Ardy there get elevated, they end up being pretty good. Some don't. So I just don't know how to evaluate that. But at least you know, nurse, the things you hear about that he believes in are the right things in my pain will see how he handles all the egos and all the rest of that stuff. You never know. So I go Manet had done much more to say on them, the Washington Wizards, they. They did. This is funny actually that that's your tone 'cause we may actually disagree on them so trait. I think I would feel completely differently about their off-season. This is probably not fair. I would feel completely differently about their off-season if they hadn't given Dwight Howard that damn player option. For the second year I knew I knew you're gonna say like, because I thought about that to write it and it's just like, all right, you know downgraded seems ridiculous that they did that who else was offering him that you're all the shit that like really gets our panties in a bunch. But like that said, I mean, I still think they upgraded for this year. So I ended up giving them a b. I tried to get past that. I mean, it's one of those things or God that's so stupid. Why did they do that? But I don't think it really matters that much ultimately. Well, it matters in there a couple of things. One thing also is by giving white that much money instead of like the minimum or something they couldn't get anybody else with that money because Dwight eat like Dwight gave..

"I don't think we could deny that a very angry yeah well this is yet to be fulfilled early in my statement i wanna make it i watched you've got a you elect offers take his horta talking about trust the proper part the federal fixture out with oprah street rousey laleka plural of record it are working you guys but i believe this picture will be allclear end up doing a better clue ways predator reconstruct you're right now in the watching for what it and let me tell you why people go just what i at though first of all i first of all first of all i don't agree i don't disagree with that of secondly why you sound like you step down on alleged there i'll be what does washed and have to look forward to well okay okay that farewell to ask you to just we spoke about a week or so ago and you told ruled that watched who will be in the globe at him and baulked it and i said no way well i hope i'm not a very i'm very well that was one gordon hayward went down and i believe that obvious the imf in little bit differently after watching jaylen brown and jason tatum and what those long athletic dudes who loved to defend are doing with car we urban i think is something special to be old but it it does it the skies my disappointment in washington wizards i mean they did nothing this offseason but resign otto porter to exorbitant dollars that some would say doesn't deserve bradley beal shows up john wall got to work in a jump shot love decayed twoway player whitley talking about john wall is one of the top three god's and basketball the eta jump shot a consistent jump shot that we could rely upon but he does it and because of that when it's not flowing for him he really really struggles offensively and then when he struggles offense elite trust overcompensate makes mistakes and can lead this team the way you would expect them to be able to lead this thing and that's the problem with the washington wizards.

"Now i would say every series presented different challenges and one of the things you saw that washington series and the reason it went to seven games was because the reality was fred stevens never truly found an answer to the starting plied of the washington wizards right if you look at the plusminus for the starters for each team washington outdid the boston starters by a large margin and brett kept searching and kept switching that fifth position and now you know he he's been the needs that than he did all the things that a coach does over the course of a series or aching and you know ultimately one of the differences in the in the series was the performance of the boston bench relative to the washington wizards right but i don't think they have an answer and i want you to think about this with marcus smart j crowder in avery bradley you have three of the physically and mentally toughest offenders in the nba you know i think we call all the time about the level of responsibility that a superstar has in the nba you have to be willing on a night by night finite basis over several years and in the most crucial times to be willing to deliver at a high level and that's hard it's really hard and i would say to you anybody who's on the first team defense all defense me nba what they do on a nightly basis in a far less glamorous situation is heart.
