"Its fendt. But some was carried hundred fifty miles south to bend Oregon or two hundred and eighty five miles east to spokane Washington. So the ash went pretty far and those who were like what the What is happening here? So? then. A second new crater and a blue flame were observed on March twenty ninth. If I know anything about flames it said any color other than orange is best not great. It's not great. It's not great. So. The flame was visibly admitted from both craters was probably created by burning gases as you have implying. And also, I didn't know this but static electricity generated from ash clouds rolling down the volcano sent out lightning bolts that were up to two miles long gosh. Ashby dry like as it's like moving through the atmosphere and create static electricity. So the mountain must have looked like the entrance to hell at this point like something is shit is going down. So, ninety three separate outbursts recorded on March thirtieth and increasingly strong tremors were first detected on April first alarming geologists and prompting Governor Dixie Lee Ray to declare a state of emergency on April third. So Governor Ray issued an executive order on April thirtieth creating red zone around the volcano. So anyone caught in this zone without a pass faced a five hundred dollar fine which is equivalent to about sixteen hundred dollars today or six months in jail. And this precluded many cabinet owners for visiting their property. Okay So a United States Geological Survey team here by known as the USGS determined in the last week of April that a one point, five mile diameter or two point four kilometer section of Saint Helen's north face was displaced outward by at least two hundred, seventy feet. So this means that it is literally growing a bulge. bobble underground that is visible to the naked eye. So for the rest of April and early May this bulge group five to six feet per day and by mid May, it extended more than four hundred feet north. So this has been online since March. Yes. Since early mid mid more march there's been like. Signs that something's going down a mountain. So ask this bulge moved northward. So you have to imagine it like so you're looking if you're looking like top down from the mountain. North of the mountain is this like bubble and it's shifting basically down the mountain, right? It's shifting like it's moving at a at a significant rate. as it moved northward the area behind it sank. Okay. So as like as like a bubble moves you like Russian like a bubble in your pizza crust exactly like a bubble in your pizza crusts. Not Nearly as much more dangerous actually So this is called a dry. This complex dropdown block is called the Grey Ben. Jerry a AB an okay. So. Geologists announced on April. Thirtieth at sliding of the Bulge area was the greatest immediate danger and that a landslide might spark in eruption. So the thing is, is that geologist realized that there's all of this pressure building up. And so it's creating this bubble and because of gravity and just the way that that. Volcano works the bubble sliding down mountain, creating this depression behind it, and so this depression behind it releases pressure K. right like it's like pulling the the pressure away. The magma is exposed in that bubble because the rock covering is being pushed forward and by releasing the pressure like popping a pimple, that's when an eruption happens. So the eruption would happen behind this bubble that's moving so Because the intruding and AL explain this. Because the intruding magma remained below ground and was not directly visible. It's called Crypto which is in contrast to a true lava dome exposed at the surface, which you may have seen pictures of that in like Hawaii, volcano. So. On May seventh eruption similar to those in March and April resumed, and over the next days, the bulge approached its maximum size. So it's getting bigger and bigger. Yeah go ahead. Say there there had been people living near this right then when the governor was like everybody out. Yeah. Everybody out everybody stay away. Yeah Right. So however. Well, we'll talk about that a total of about ten thousand earthquakes were recorded before the May eighteenth event Wa-. With most concentrated in a small zone less than one point six miles directly below the bulge. So visible like eruptions these little like. Little gas leaks and like ash clouds and things, and they stopped on May sixteenth. And during this time between like mid March to about mid mid May. People were coming to like watch this. Yeah. So. After they. Stopped. Showing up on May sixteenth people like didn't care anymore they're like, okay. Party's over like. It's done. So the number of spectators in the area, where do I mind this time? However mounting public pressure then forced officials to allow fifty carloads of property owners to enter the danger zone on Saturday may seventeenth together whatever property they could carry. Oh so they were like a well, the stuff stopped on May sixteenth. Okay. Young go you can go in it was actually it was more like people were like this is stupid like. This is not the thing that everyone is calling it. All, this isn't a big deal at all. I should go get my stuff. Yeah. At least. Let me go get my stuff. At because obviously, this is also this is starting to become like the Spring Torres season. Go Up to their second homes at the base of Mount Saint Helens like there. You know lodges and Kayaking, and also in this area, there's a lot of logging. Okay. So there are a lot of logging companies who want to get back up there because this is like we're getting to the point where we need to start logging a send like meeting our quotas and stuff, and because nothing has happened like, why are you preventing us from doing our jobs and or like living our lives you know? Various interesting young. Meeting itself yeah. Yeah. So Again, another trip scheduled for ten. AM The next day, and because that was Sunday more than three hundred loggers who would normally be working in the area were not there. So, by the time of the climactic eruption magma intruding into the volcano had forced the north flank outward nearly five hundred feet or one hundred and fifty meters and heated the volcanoes groundwater system causing many steam driven explosions. So things are like. Not. Great. Yeah. Things aren't great so. May Teeth is when things go down but first we're GONNA talk about two very different men who were witnesses and ultimately died in this event. So the I was David Johnston, he was a thirty year old usgs geologist who was at an observation post six miles north of the mountain called cold water to when the eruption hit. Given, the increasing seismic and volcanic activity Johnston and the other vulcanologists working for the US in Vancouver branch prepare to observe any impending eruption and this was in Vancouver Washington. There are two Vancouver's there. There's Vancouver Canada and there's Vancouver Washington. Vancouver Washington is a city just north of Portland on the north side of the Columbia, river which is the border between the states. So Vancouver is south of Mount Saint Helen's significantly south. At the time geologist Don Swanson and others placed reflectors on and around the domes and established a cold water one and two observation posts to use laser ranging to measure how.

"I'm twenty eight. Okay. And so if you're sitting there looking at a twenty one year old just married couple whose about about thirty thousand dollars worth of solar solar panels on payments, and you know, that that's a really stupid idea. You would say don't do that. Because that's the right thing to do. Not because solar panels are bad. But because I'm guessing that this twenty one year old couple does not need thirty thousand dollars worth of debt on solar panels. They probably don't have the income to even discuss boarding that. Right. Yeah. Yeah. So you would just look at them and go if I was twenty one how would I want someone to treat me that was honest, switch seats and treat them that way. Let's change the scenario you're dealing with a seventy year old multimillionaire who wants to finance it because he believes dad is. Okay. And he doesn't really want your freaking opinion. Right. This is. The old seventy year old guy who's got serious bucks, and he's gonna finance it 'cause he wants to and he he wants your opinion. So how would you want to be treated if you were him you want to twenty eight year old telling you how to finance your stuff now? So you would be quiet and that would be within the bounds of ethics, right? The point is is that you know, you can look at minor things. Here's an example. Okay. Churchill mortgage, we tell folks never under any circumstances to take an adjustable rate mortgage out ever Churchill mortgage does some rate mortgages, they don't suggest them to people that Dave sent over there because that would be inconsistent. Correct. But if one of the people that we sent over there once an adjustable rate mortgage, I haven't told Churchill mortgage, they can't sell it to them. These are all adults. They all get to make their own decisions. And it's kind of funny. I hear occasionally from one of the church. Oh, guys, some guy. Minnesota will take out an adjustable rate mortgage say, but don't tell Dave as if they report every freaking mortgage to me, you know. I mean, it's hilarious is like father. Forgive me for I've sinned or something. You know? So you guys are all adults. We get to make our own decisions, and you can treat your customers like they're adults. But if you see someone doing something that you wouldn't do if you were them, I think your honor bound ethics bound to say, so. Yeah. Very well that answers my question. I wish aid that we do that. We do that. With a lot of stuff around here. I tell people what they're supposed to do. What I think they ought to do. But I leave you room to go. Do what you wanna do? You know, you get to do it. I'll I can use present to you the facts. And and love you enough to tell you what I would do if I were you, and that's how we answered questions here on the show all the times the same thing. And so, but then you get to pick you get the chose. You have the dignity of being an adult and choosing your own way. Lots of daveramsey listeners do everything I say except cut up all their credit cards. I still carry credit card. Lots of them. I know you're out there. I know about you. I probably have your home address. Now. I'm kidding. But I mean, you know, it's like, it's funny. It's almost like you have to hide it from here. So I don't care. I do care because I think you're stupid. I think you shouldn't do that. But but I'm not going to insult you and steal your dignity as an adult unless unless you just so far out of bounds. So far off the ranch that you're gonna hurt yourself. And then I'm going to scream at you. You're going to hurt yourself, and that's just ethics do unto others as you'd have them do to you. It solves almost all your business ethics questions. Good question. I like that one Elmer. Good leadoff for the hour. Brenda is with us in Washington. Vancouver to be exact, hi, Brenda. How are you? "That's what hockey is you protect your star players, especially when they're young and coming into the league and finding their way so faceoffs unit had a brief conversation before the interview vote faceoffs. John Jay winning. Effective player. We met came into this game winning over seventy one percent of his face off and talked to bury thought about this morning didn't want this happened in the lion. Takes so many events of showing fate especially on the right, right circle. Is if districts have more because he wins a face off. Rebekka fund drives a lot of different things. Reading face off. So. His administration on the best laid on those guys to hear about all the have to. Outstanding. If the second game of this series. Go for a Watson situates kill peddling. Faceoff? Keeble? I am curious because we know referees from refereed referee, sometimes have different standards when it comes to penalties to linesmen have different drops SO. Do you know them? I don't. Well. I did. Yeah. I did in the east or west. I'm seeing a lot different linesmen. Okay. You just see different linesmen. And so I'm trying to get. Trying to get to know the lines in the and the way they dropped the puck and stuff, but I don't focus too much on that. I'd try and focus a lot on me on what I'm doing in my routine going into a draw my reads and going off that. So there's little things that you do notice from from linesmen where they dropped the puck on the circle, you know, sometimes drive a really close to their body all the time. So you can almost cut the circle in half because they're not dropping on the far side of the circle. So you can almost cut that circle in half and put your stick in down the halfway point. There's little things like that that you do notice that overtime. Sure. And draws avoid been a big part of my game that I actually loved to just watch and study. So I enjoy it and true or false who've never deliberately lost the draw. I know I've never deliberately lost a draw. But because leaving that right? Yeah. Yeah us. Yes. Some coaches do in people have done it to me. And I mean, all gladly take the one draw all any of your coaches ever asked you to lose a face. They haven't even adult. They've never asked me. No, there's like there's times where you shoot it forward, which is going to be a loss on the floor sheet. Right. So they're gonna give you a loss drawn that. But sometimes the place to shoot at Ford shoot the draw forward, and that's smart play. So I've been asked for that. And I've also talked with my linemates out there. When do they want me to do that in certain situations? I say you want me shoot this for it. And they'll jump forward. But I've never intentionally like just not put my stick in there and tried to get my stick on the toughest at the draws version. What makes them so good? What does he do? So we've heard that a lot of. Yeah. I mean, what is it specifically? I don't know. I don't know. He's a righty. So for me, it's I'm going. My strong side is on his weakside like he's trying to pull it to the middle usually, and I'm trying to pull it to the wall on my strong side. And obviously the same on the other side of he'll be on his strong side on the weak side. So some games you'll get him on his strong side. Almost eighty percent of the time. So I'm almost losing eighty percent of the. Dross, just because he's so good on his strong side. He's strong timing's. Really good the way you takes draws them. He's got three or four different looks of where his stick positioning is. And how he comes over top real do a sweep or slash swipe. So there's a bunch of looks that he gives you just really good on draws. And and so for me, it's really hard. If I'm taking a lot on his weak side than I know. It's almost guaranteed laws. It's tough tough thing to do to win a draw against like is that good draws on strong side. So Washington's a passionate hockey city. All the Americans are pretty different. "Minutes in over there at the student rec center where I used to call games for UC riverside. So it is the waves with low ROY Moore as head coach taking care of business. One add on game. I'll get your Oakland holds on and beats Fairfield Storrs, Connecticut is that's where Yukon is Fairfield Connecticut is where Fairfield stags are and Shapiro somewhere. In the between, those two I mean, I don't know if he's from Connecticut. The guys I can missing link V8. missed it, the Vegas take six to seven. I think those guys will be expanding because people want to hear more of JD. They want to hear more of sharp. So there's a good chance there could be another hour of those jokers. But again, the great thing is, you know, as me and Kenny and Kennedy's running the show here for both shows. We're looking in and their Shapiro, right? You could see him through the terrarium, and he's like he's so animated JD, man. He's like it looks like you just got out of a cannabis shop, man. I mean, the guy's just sitting here all mellow, and then comes in and nice solid opinion. And but Shapiro's just like Rippin what Harry has left out of his head. And it's just it's awesome. As the two extremes of the spectrum. No doubt. But those guys good solid show Vegas take six to seven right now. But I think soon to be six to eight we'll see how that all plays out. And others guys. Are you know, they're holding out for more money? But we'll see if they get it. They're trying to work out a mega contract over here at BC broadcasting five to two Colorado beat Florida on the ice five four overtime, Detroit. A road win in Toronto surprise there. Columbus also road win at Philly four three islanders. Get pummeled in Pittsburgh Crosby at another good game six to penguins, take care of business. Montreal takes out of five to Tampa Bay holds off Boston three to two right now. Arizona lease Washington. Two to one the caps off that loss here to Vegas. The other night five three one of the better hockey games of the year Calgary one nothing lead second period eleven afford ago. And by the way, six fifty three to go in the second period there. Arizona with that too on lead over Washington Vancouver. One. Nothing leads Nashville ten thirty eight to go first period. And how about Vegas already two goals on the Blackhawks they pummeled the Blackhawks eight three in the windy city. You figure Chicago be focused. They just don't have it right now in Vegas taking care of business. You don't tell me has made a big difference for this Vegas Golden Knights team. I'm telling you he got the game. Game winner and then the other night, but this guy really add some speed to the defense. And it's a guy that the capitals looked at man got how good would we be? I'm telling ya. And cool thing was that Ryan Reeves didn't get a suspension for that hit on Wilson. I mean that was just a great hit. And I'm glad he didn't get suspended shouldn't even been a penalty. I mean, I just thought it was great. You know, why? Because Wilson's a jackass. Anyway, the guy's a cheap shot. He's always cheap shot at people and to see his helmet, go flying like this. Look, karma, buddy. It's gonna come back on you sooner. Or later you keep throwing cheap shots around. Somebody's gonna be as big or bigger than you. And to me. It was a nice solid shot. Look Ovechkin made a nice hit earlier in the game. And there's no penalty called. And this was a good one. Bye reads. I'm glad he didn't get suspended and Vegas world. Right now, the rolling again at the T mobile to nothing over the Blackhawks jersey and L A from the staple center that should be a nice defensive game five and a half, the total jersey a modest one fifteen favorite kings, though on occasion have scored some goals. So that is a look at the Richard badgen. Finley toyota. The town scoreboard. Oh, keep an eye on all these games. Titans. Score again, twenty nine two to five thirty to go third quarter and other just rolling over Jacksonville. So that is money easy money right there. And now thirty so pheasant did have that physique had titans. Total over twenty nine and stayed on seven for a while because of the the safety, but he's already got that sucker in the Bank. So we're live from Vegas. We take a break. We come back. Leeann inclined my buddy used to be involved with the five star basketball camps. But I haven't talked to Lena while we'll get into some college hoops find out who he likes Canoga got a scare last night held on for dear life against Washington. In state game. Gotta give the huskies a lot of credit and having made a good comeback in that one. And we'll talk about some of the other teams that dukes that Kentucky's and the big boys, and of course, UNLV that program going live from Vegas. A new one zero one five FM seven twenty A M K dawn, we'll get you the.

And we bought it at the original store in Paris. And we from that gut to free glasses of champagne. So it was well, we're I mean so to glasses champagne thousand five hundred dollars with free bag, right? So we got a free bag 'cause we paid five hundred dollars per glass of champagne who's actually a little cheaper. Because we got that back and the US was good against the US dollars. Good against the earth. So it. Actually, actually, it was a deal steel. I think we should buy one. Every time we go back and absolute a hopefully, the people don't vote for you and make us go back to us in Europe. Because then I guess we have to get a Louis Vuitton bag if you guys for me vote for me if you guys are just joining us. This is our third episode in our Throwdown showdown series today. BC not Vancouver Washington Vancouver. BC and threw it up on our Instagram at Paca peanuts, and Heather, Sherry and the people have spoken, and they have spoken very definitively. That Heather you are the champ. But Portland verse. Frank Hoover, you were arguing side. For obvious reasons. And I think that my main are you meant was the fact that you cannot beat the landscape of an couvert when compared with Portland because you have the mountains, you have the coast, right? There is absolutely stunning. And then, you know, of course, if you listen, you know, all the other arguments that I gave so I'm not sure if it was the city is more loved, and that's why I won or if my argument actually swayed people I like to think maybe a little of both. Yeah, we go to Instagram. You could check it out. You could still way in despite the fact that we are we are crowning. Heather's the champ. Showdown upset one. Thank you for everyone who who wrote in top that said without question on team. How there for this one Vancouver BC for the wind and I live two hours from pediatrics and four from Vancouver. So at top that on Instagram node knows what they're talking about. We had a few other people basically just telling us that how there was right at MB underscore Myers. Vancouver's everything Portland as plus the natural beauty striking skyline and the aqua bus. I would pick being Couva report any day. And of course, our good friend at court, bore makes the point that other Sherry is right as usual as usual. I like that I like that kinda just legalized cannabis yesterday. So for Vancouver that pretty much changes nothing. So people in my side. I gotta give a shout out to add toast, this and a few other people. Thank you guys for weighing in and telling me that that it was poor that you agree with me, Portland. But overwhelming majority said that Heather end van couvert the. Champion of our Throwdown showdown. Just amazing. And if it was more affordable to live there. I would probably see if I could somehow get a Canadian visa and move there for sure in fact, we've had an offer that you know, we could get divorced then Mary our Canadian friends separately, you know, so that we could live there. I don't know. I might be worth it might be worth it. I think what is definitely worth. It is at clo- rail said that we should definitely check out Seattle more. And I agree. Maybe next time we throw a third city in their nods expensive as being couvert. She says has salt and straw. And y'all. Step in the right direction step in the right direction. Okay all right all right you disagree with me a bit on the two thousand six midterm election I said that that was predicated on Democrats being all riled up about, Bush and, his illegal, wars and Abu Ghraib and all of? That I believe that was the narrative that the Democrats wanted to Republicans to buy but as. A Republican voter I know a lot of. Us, at home I. Didn't, sit home but I think a lot of them sat home because they were kicked off here the Republicans are in, charge and have the opportunity to deal with immigration and. They refuse to do it they, wanted to keep it. As an issue well it costs them well I disagree with that a little. Bit primarily because of the passage of the secure fence act of two thousand six which was right in the fall of two thousand, six if I remember right President Bush I know signed right. But like a week or two before the election and this was seen it, there was a big fight over this all summer long and all. Of this and Democrats finally. Went, along. With it. All those. Positive Hillary Clinton signed the secure fence act of two thousand six I. Might have to go back and check my check my notes on that but I disagree in that sense that might have been a contributing Issue Darren but what happened was the the The major issue. Was clearly, voter dissatisfaction with the Iraq War I, mean every poll from the time tell us I've actually been researching this trying to look into the parallels between two thousand six and twenty eight and looking back at how the media really changed from passive and somewhat active support of Democrats to just. A vicious attack, dog for the Democratic Party and for liberals I. Posit that everything changed during. The. Bush, presidency absolutely everything it went from okay. Yes. We know there is a liberal bias, yes we know two in two thousand four Dan rather actually using forged. Documents to, try to.
