"The with kevin mason after many years of fighting a few professional sports teams. We're going to finally be changing their names the now washington football team wants the washington redskins have finally announced. They're coming up with their new name in another year. The cleveland indians only. The indians for one more season will soon be announcing their new twenty twenty to name. What i wonder is in all these. Sports franchises have been embattled for their names for many years. When i moved to northeast. Ohio and cleveland was at the top of the baseball ranks in nineteen ninety-five. There were people protesting. The cleveland indians games protesting their mascot chief. Wahoo every game starting. I'm sure long before nineteen ninety-five but to this day it's been going on forever. So why does it take them two years to decide. I understand why the name changes whether we all like it or not but it shouldn't be that hard and it shouldn't take that long the whole washington football team thing just bothers me but just makes me scratch my head. I understand people have been wanting them to change their name for years. So why is it takes a long. Something's not right here.

"The with kevin mason. I saw the news. Come down late sunday night and i knew things would start going crazy on my facebook timeline and just some email strings because i have a lot of friends in the cleveland area and of course the news came out that the cleveland indians will soon no longer be the indians. What they're going to change their nickname to nobody knows they've said they're not going to be like the washington redskins not washington football team and go without a nickname for a year or two the one thing i can say as a lifelong cubs fan. I know the pain following the cubs. Then i spent a decade northeast. Ohio and i thought the phantom of the cubs worldwide was big. But it pales to the phantom of the cleveland soon not to be indians in northeast ohio the cartoonish face of chief wahoo graced more heads because everybody wore a cleveland indians baseball cap. All around they got chief wahoo but now they're going to get rid of the name that goes with it. I understand why. And i understand the pain. People are feeling because they don't know a world without anything else.

"washington redskins" Discussed on KOMO

"To push President elect Joe Biden and over that official 270 Mark. 12 16 out, Come back in The early two Thousands you may recall is equal high school changed their team name from the Issaquah Indians to the Issaquah Eagles. Now it appears Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians is going to drop that moniker as well. Reporting on this in The Washington Post is stage shining. Who joins us on the coma News line, Dave. Good afternoon. Good afternoon to you. The name has been criticized for years. So it's not a complete surprise that it happened. But was there anything in particular to spark this change? Well, I think like much of the nation, um you know, the major league baseball and the team itself, Um, were, um sort of called the task in the wake of the Public reckoning that the entire nation had in the wake of the George Floyd death. And, you know the subsequent reckoning with race and social justice issues and At that point, the team began having serious conversations for the first time about changing the name and to their credit. They met personally with Members of the local Native American groups and one of those leaders, in fact, to me today praised the team for So genuinely showing a willingness to learn about their culture and heritage and their experience. And so eventually it led to today's news. Well, that's a pretty big compliment. I guess before the Cleveland team, because when you think about you know their old mascot, chief Wahoo It's about as bad as the logo conjugate, but between when they dropped Chief Wahoo a few years ago, and now was the name still thought to be in pretty good standing. Well, they certainly thought it was a two time or or they claim that at the time that there was no movement to change the team's name. However, I did also report on that development in 2018 and 2019, the retiring of the chief Wahoo mascot and the Native American groups at the time. Felt it was, you know, quote unquote, a baby step, and one of them told me that you know, this fight won't be over until the name itself has changed. So I think there were different viewpoints of the time on on what whether the name would be changed or not looking through some of the reaction on Twitter today, it kind of seems like fans thought this was in a gray area on the spectrum of using Native American names. On one end the Washington Redskins, then on the other Kansas City Chiefs in Atlanta Braves has there been any talk of seeing a change in Kansas City or Atlanta, though. There has not been very much that I have seen. Certainly there are groups who Native American groups who would tell you that those names need to be changed, and some of the symbolism and other things that go along with them need to be done away with, but There has not to my knowledge been a lot of movement on an official basis for those names to be changed. Um, however, I do think that You know, we were in a point in history where, um, those things are are eventually going to go away one way or another, And it's really just a matter of when And you're based in the D. C area working for the post Any movement on the Washington D. C N F L team getting a name because I think a lot of folks are wondering, OK, if it's taken this long for DC to rename their team. How long is it going to take Cleveland to do it? Right, well, Cleveland has already said that they're going to keep the name Indians through the 2021 season. They're not going to go by any sort of Cleveland baseball team or anything like that, on an interim basis that remain the Indians in 2021, then roll out the new name in 2022. As for the Washington football team, I mean, you know, they've kept it very well under wraps. I do believe that they will have that name in place well before next NFL season. But for the rest of this season, there's still gonna be the Washington football team. Dave Shining with us on coma news reporter for The Washington Post. Judge stops Idaho from enforcing transgender student-athlete ban

"Transgender athletes from women's sports teams. Well, that's not really very specific. Is it because you could be? Let's see a woman who's trans to Ah, man, and then can you compete in the women's I think you probably should be able to because You know, that's the that's the thing. They're a federal judge says Transgender women and girls in Idaho cannot be banned from sports teams corresponding to their gender. Comma blocking on Idaho law that attempted to do so. They if you're a young man, you're born a boy. You know, you got an Audi instead of an N E. And you grew up playing hockey and and doing whatever on you're a boy. And then you become a teenager. You decide on the girl, and then you want to be on the girls track team. And win the state championship and get the scholarships which happened in Connecticut when this young girl Who was going to the state championship, and she came in fourth instead of third because they're two men who look like they could be wide receivers for the Washington Redskins on and they are saying that they're women, and they won the track meets and then they win the scholarships and all of that. Because you know, liberals on that's really the short answer. So the federal judge says that transgender women meaning biological males, who now say they're females cannot be barred from competing as females and stealing and cheating. See, this is what we used to call cheating. And Democrats air for cheating because they've got this gender issue in their brain that they they can't straighten out. This is a victory for all women and all girls

"They are not a candidate. We've made that very clear. But the will's bought the Vikings from Red McCombs back in 2005. For $600 million. The franchise is value is now well over $3 billion. These are really good investments. And goes back to what I've said all along about billionaires. There are a lot of billionaires. But there's only a select number who owned sports teams and even a smaller number that oan NFL teams. It's rare when you sell. Normally you're selling because you have to And You know, they're billionaires who don't want to be famous. But then there are billionaires who do. Hey, I'm a billionaire. Nobody knows me. Hey, I'm a billionaire, and I own the Washington Redskins. Daniel Snyder is so caught up in the fame. The publicity's being a celebrity because he owns the Washington Redskins. Just nobody knew of him before this, And then once you own a team. Then people know who you are. Mark Cuban Mark had a 1,000,000,000 I think he doubled. That might be worth maybe close to three billion, but he loves it. David temper he's got. I don't know. 10 billion. I didn't know him. Steve Balmer. I was least aware of him. Steve Balmer became famous. He had $20 billion. But then there are guys like Warren Buffett, who has been on this show said. I don't want that scrutiny. I I don't want people to dislike me. And that's what I mean. Think about it. If you you buy a team I give Derek Jeter came back and was part of the Yankee ownership there, and things went bad. Then all of a sudden, you got fans who have been cheering for Derek Jeter for two decades or longer. Or if Don Mattingly had gotten the Yankees managerial job, and I was worried about that because I thought If he comes back all these people love Donnie baseball. And then if things don't go well, then these fans turn on you. No Dan Marino's involved with the Dolphins, but he's not out in front as an owner. I think he's a consultant. But If you could own the team that you grew up loving But then you know you run the risk of people not liking you or turning on you. But if I'm a billionaire, you have to decide. Do I like being a billionaire in anonymity or do I want to be famous? Because there's a big difference in that and you find with a lot of these guys. There are a lot of billionaires, but only a few select few. They condone these particular teams. I was looking at the value. The Cowboys are the most valuable franchise in all of sports. $5 billion. You got other, You know, teams in there got some soccer teams in there. You got the Yankees in there as well. But You buy something for 88 million and all of a sudden you turn around and you're going to sell it for 1.2 billion. It's pretty impressive. Yeah, So the hypothetical is one of our any of our family's somehow came into a monstrous fortune where you could. Absolutely your family could afford to buy a team. You're Warren Buffett son. And it's a great investment..

"Man Okay. So we've got all this massive gun control legislation which I'm assuming. That this is going to veto once it hits his desk, roll it into something else and he doesn't see it. I mean. Does anybody else you positive outcome here other than I'll just say it an open civil war. Mean I feel like I feel like patience like like those are the Sierra on the on the on the conference. Are being, backed into a corner. Yeah we're basically damned if we do. We're damned if we don't any anybody want to comment on that. No Matt Aspect. Mark Yeah. Well, the thing is like you hope it doesn't cover some this ridiculous. Of course. By, by thing is I would I guess probably is right now I don't know. Civil. War who against who? In other words, how would how would you distinguish I'll be okay Tepa. Got It the OH black lives matter. Got It. But. How do you distinguish? You gotta be. That's a great question. That's the real. That's a real problem is that we're facing a A faceless boogeyman to keep us all in our homes and isolated from one another. We've got blatant constitutional no violations from New York California including the first second third amendments. Fourth amendment. I mean and they're just they're not apologetic about it. They're just in your face to. Has. Closed Down Churches and locked Rock Jewish people out of their own parts. What's his name from says. Yeah. Is violating blatantly violating the first. Amendment people they can't sing in. Church. Are you kidding me. I mean, I'm not a religious separation of church and state. Well and second of all I mean, how does anybody look at that and not go holy shit let the lawsuits commence. Honestly So, now here's the thing I. WanNa Make It. I WanNa make it very clear for the audience and even those in the group I am not advocating for an open civil war where we start shooting. Okay. I would also like to say here only for myself but I believe that that I do not believe in the Black Lives Organization the Black Lives Matter Organization. I believe in the message black lives matter just as much as every other life and we should all be equal before the law we should be overseas equal treatment especially before the law. But. I'm not going to back a group that is Marxist and comes out and basically says it if you don't give us what we want, we're GONNA burn the system that the ground. I mean all here. Again, I mean if you have said organization that is in fact, baking a threat whether they considered idol. They considered valid. It is still a threat to. The life. Well, exactly how how do we not take that? How do we not take that based on the the instances of the last month? Says we says, we all watched the the horrific murder of a of a citizen by by discussing human being police officer. How do we? How do we not take that as anything other than a threat of actual violence based on recent history? Therein. Lies The question that I would poses that to go along with remarks you know who who exactly is going to do is A. Government. It's a radical leaders. Of States counties, cities, whatever. Or is it going to be people for people? We have. What did you just leave knowing? When you just gotTa love the irony that the Minnesota governor had the balls to ask the white. House for for bailout money after they let their city burn. I, mean, I understand there are citizens that were affected by that. But you know my argument would be well I'll tell you what once you spend the money that you say from you know. From dissolving your police. Believe. Yeah what you spend that money go ahead. Save yourself though you know the. Four hundred million dollars spent annually on your police force. Etc.. And They're not gonNA, pass it out. There's a blank check to the people because well, you know we don't get our tax money that way. Exactly. HAVE YOUR IS A. Stalemate along the lines of. City Minneapolis Saint Paul's which Is Looking for a five hundred dollar bill out the government's GONNA help. They're going to have to get that money somewhere. Well exactly and the question. Phoenix afraid now, but to answer your question or respond to your statement. I believe you said they're not gonNA raise taxes through the roof to do it. Of course, they will. Of course they will in turn. Bring. I. That's. That's a real trick. Isn't is when the IRS gets involved or whatever State Department revenue they have comes and starts locking people up the people sheepishly combine. and. The guy will probably get reelected. Let's be honest. Well you will probably see. You'll probably see something for the cities that were affected by riots and everything put into like a another stimulus bill passed by the house. Like they have added that money there you go to a legal and yeah. And everything else that I wouldn't put it past the House to sit there and add a piece in there that every city that was affected by these riots or has hardships now. Get X. amount of. Millions of dollars as part of this. Bill to. Help, stimulate the economy and the people that actually are affected by all this. That, it should be helping they'll put their. Claws into it and put. Extra things that won't matter, and then it'll sit there and argue back and forth between the House, and the Senate for God knows how long Because they won't budge on wasn't it? Well one thing you have to love about the strategy employed by the Democrats they're gonNA. They're gonNA try to stick it in something that make the president look bad if he vetoes it. Oh. Yeah. It'll be. It'll be some sort of. Bill and he'll have to it, and then they'll scream how he doesn't care about children. Exactly among the media will be all over it. Media will be all over at bashing him. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. The president doesn't care about the future. There for the last four years anyway. Well Yeah they've they've. It's funny. I. Yeah I was GONNA say I. Johnson and Nixon for sure. But you know twenty I hear people talking about Oh. Trump won't accept the results of the twenty twenty election loses you guys still haven't accepted the fact that you're get forty. Or the fact that impeachment failed yeah. Yeah the. Everything else. Rono. Everything else that you've thrown at them hasn't stuck. Exactly this is. This is reality you know this is not theory. All this stuff is happened. You know. I saw something today and I don't remember where it was talking about the reason that you know that. They want to sit there and blame trump for not being ready for this pandemic and everything was because the other half of the fence was sitting there. So busy trying to get him out for the last four years that he couldn't take time to focus. On being prepared for anything like that. The funny part is, is I I'm trying. I'm trying to I'm I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of hearing how Trump getting the blame for a hundred and thirty thousand body bags. Here this is this is the thing we need to do things. We need to change the story number one it should be only a hundred, thirty, thousand, five bags why? If if anybody recalls I do specifically PURDIS MR TRUMP DONALD TRUMP put a travel ban in effect once we had ten positive cases in this country, the left assailed him for weeks for doing it. Okay. Nancy. Pelosi went to Chinatown encourage people not to wear masks Blah Blah. Xenophobic Racist Blah Blah Blah, pick your s that's yacht called, and now all of a sudden they WANNA blame him for one hundred, thirty, thousand body bags may explain something if he hadn't done what he did when he did, there'd be a million three bodybags. Okay end of discussion this has nothing to do with mass. This is all a political fucking game and and I'm tired of hearing about it. Except from you guys I love your new guys. DOTS. I. Think. Let's just put that on record right now. Yeah you're paid to talk matter of fact, we don't pay you at all. Yes. I think we have a contract we'll get. something. About our bucks and it'll happen advil or something like that. I. Think it was under someone nine. I was a corner of starbucks eight was a quarter of an advil and half starbucks get it straight monthly and you're no. Damage. Send Me. Oreo. Wait a minute. I want kids count. You want to renegotiate. All of your agent moved to Seattle. Yeah exactly somebody please his comments to that brick wall over there. Oh Yeah. Yeah. All right I feel like I've rented enough. Is there anything you gentlemen WANNA cover that I missed? How `bout? Redskins finally caving. By quest over we're going we're going for football. Then we're GONNA touch the Third Rail Ladies and gentlemen he just licked and grabbed it go right ahead phoenix. I did read an article that. There are some and I'm not saying a whole bowl loan. I'm not saying that YOU KNOW ENTIRE PATIENT O. Or and it's hard tribal right that there are in fact, some of the indigenous votes, native Americans. That want keep it because it actually gives them a sense of ownership relevant. We've along on this we have this. We can follow this because that is you know a depiction of our people. What's the Redskins fans great. I have no problem with that if there. was somebody like football but hey, you know I, see it representation in my people here. Thank you. There are well, we don't get me wrong that no, all fuck you and take it other. Cash kind of it's actually kind of funny that you mentioned that being that I'm also for those of us this for those of you just tuning in and getting no us as we get to know you I, am a football nut job I have been since my early days Yes. I was GONNA. Say I think there's actually incriminating proof out there wasn't much of a about football I gotta tell you. My love for the game has often outweighed all of this You know all the polit political bullshit that's going on in the game for quite some time. Get into Kapernick, that's a whole other rent for me that lasts about forty five minutes and maybe we'll do an episode just on that Now, there was always my understanding in watching anything about the Washington redskins and and the history of them that the that the team was supposedly named for one of their assistant coaches who was native American and it was if anybody. I played football I I. I. I know that Phoenix not sure if you did mark You know everybody everybody on the football field to talk shit and especially to your friends okay and Just because you have some sort of negative pejorative is a nickname, doesn't mean that people hate you Okay. So The, the the legend was and I've actually since found out found out, different resin was at the team was named for in honor of one of their beloved assistant coaches. World Premier Episode - burst 01

"Hello America. And welcome to the midnight. Patriots involves Spartan and I am flanked by Phoenix, Drip Dick, and mark. We are the midnight patriots and you may be asking yourselves why in the hell are we doing this? Well, got to be honest with you. Everybody has insomnia sucks almost as bad as tyranny that and we have day jobs. So we're GONNA talk in the series about the Constitution the bill of rights politics national current events. WE'RE GONNA call out here anyway guardless of the perceive political flavor using these standards of information logic and a passion for liberty. So that being said, I wanted to read something here real quick on our maiden voyage as sort of a sort of a way to set the standard. This this passage I'm about to read was actually written by. Thomas Paine one of our founders and framers, and regardless of how you see this man and the values that he possessed in that day that this was written this was written about seven months after the excuse me five months after the declaration of independence. So this is a this is a passage from December twenty, third, seventeen, seventy, six many of you have heard the the the line of this but I'm to go a little bit deeper into it, and hopefully this'll give the show some sort of context and and we hope we can earn your support as as time goes on. So this is from December twenty, third seventeen, seventy, six when the When the Revolutionary War was still going on and it says says as follows. These are the Times that try men's souls. Summer soldier in the Sun signed gatriways will in this crisis shrink from the service of their country. But he that stands by it now deserves the love and the thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, there's not easily conquered. Yet, we have this consolation with us at the heart of the conflict, the more glorious triumphs. What we obtained too cheap. We assume too lightly. It is dearness only that gives every thing. It's value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price on its goods. And it would be strange indeed if so celestial and article as freedom. Should not be highly rated. So those are the kind of the words that I could keep in mind as we go through this in every man here every person associated with this show would definitely be on the flag to make sure that the stretch stay read. So we're GONNA open up tonight and we're going to kind of open up the insanity that we've been seeing around our country regarding corona virus covid nineteen. Now everybody fever mind that none of us are medical professionals and our virologist by any stretch of the imagination where relating experiences and questions nothing that we say should be taken as any sort of diagnostic approach or any sort of Expert opinion. That said yours truly your host here Paul Spartan well, actually come at this from a perspective of being Osha certified in matters of respirators and and breathing protection. the rest of US come at this from from our own particular viewpoints and speculations. So let's just get started off So boys, we got we have. Governors California and Texas walking. Act Actual reopenings and we've got quote unquote more and indecisive confirmations, Cova, spreading but for but amazingly somehow in New York, they're reporting any new deaths or anybody WANNA start with an opinion on that. Honestly. You know I mean there's been some conversation prior to. Between myself and the other members. That's. Something is pulling the strings somewhere. Other than CDC, a hospital staff, surgeon, general things of that nature. Quite honestly, you know whatever it was whatever stream you Asian that recently came out that. Took a Italy Area. Jersey Pennsylvania. Great. Has stated sure. But why is it only California Texas? That more back that we know of your again to the states in the continental United States. Voting populace in those states. So my question now. WHO formed strings? Think. That's the overarching point here is that you know in in my experience not to get too nerdy and go too far down the rabbit hole but the same government that's telling us you know to be afraid and take particular actions like wearing cloth masks. Are the same ones that are telling us that the cloth masks don't work. I can tell you from from Osha Training and ocean certification that airborne pathogens particularly viruses. Are listed in the sub micron rage. Now that sounds that sounds really really you know interesting or maybe even boring but something that has to be realized is that when something is a sub micron particle. It passes right through the we've of a mask. Require its own moisture source. Now. Obviously state standard state standards vary but in the train I've received anything in the sub micron range requires a A. A SELF CONTAINED OXYGEN SOURCE With the use of a mask in that in that particular bio suit I mean if you WanNa, take a look and you think you're safe by wearing a cloth mask look at whatever rally just wears in a lab. When he's working with this type of contagion, it isn't a cloth masks. He wears a moon suit with a separate oxygen supply I mean there seems to be my perception is that the same people that are that are trying to Promote the panic are the ones trying to peddle a secure and make trillions and any thoughts on John? I think they're actually. No I. Think There's definitely you know financial motivation behind. This whether it's big whether it's by hospitals by a parent companies own hospitals. I mean. There's definitely something I think that financially pushes everything I mean between them getting you know a nice. paycheck at for each person, they list with Kobe or each person that unfortunately passes. listed. With Kovin. You, know they get a Giant financial. Yes if you will. Of money which I think pushes ally of these. Claims of more cases rising I mean like we. Previously is if you talk about the fact that of you know there's people around that work in the profession that there are things have been going around that they've sent. You know unused test the places. And they've come back positive when they haven't been used. But who who? Who who is the guy over in Africa, that tested a tested a fruit and a goat. And they both came back. Positive. Does anybody remember that news But you already your point but more to your point I believe the last figure I heard to. Last year I heard from the federal government was somewhere in the area of fifty to eighty five thousand dollars total for the treatment, and if the the particular person passes, the patient passes they get more. Does anybody have any information to dispute that because I think that was the last count that I heard. Be last information that I have. At, least. It's nineteen thousand dollars for a diagnosed case. Thirty eight thousand dollars if they are required hospital say and it goes up exponentially require respirator ICU care. They stay longer than hot. You're in you're out you're gone. So that being said. We all know that it'll supposedly. This bill. Gates himself and his research company. Or the ones that. Found viruses no did all the. Problems. I'm looking for here research. But. My question is if they did all the research, why did they come up with as well or have they? That's a question I posed to you folks. Well, I know they re you know they actually waiting to get ten thousand dollars plus from insurance companies and the federal government per dose mean. There's an argument to be made there. I mean, the guy is not a doctor nor is he of Arale just he just wants to make a make a killing on the here. Now that by the way is not an argument for any sort of socialized medicine. It's an absolute. It's an absolute disgusting power-hungry move at the cost of well forget about just American lives. What about globally, what have what is a million people in the ground now lifted discovered related At least one point three. If I remember correctly I could be wrong. Well, I got the second portion. Really a big to ask now is Bill Gates can't keep a bug out of his own computers what you're GONNA do with the world. Exactly number one key couldn't build a computer didn't crash three times a day for no reason. So why would we trust him with with people's lives? You know I mean he would. There was a there was a tit for tat went back and forth on social media several several years ago when he was still a once he was the kingpin of Microsoft. And he had mentioned something like You know if the auto industry had made many advances in the computer industry over the last twenty years, we'd all be driving cars that got a thousand miles to the gallon and went from zero to one hundred and two seconds to which I believe. It was the CEO at the time of Ford replied. Well. Yeah. But then the cars would crash twice a day for no reason. So. I mean you. Good Cryptic. I was GonNa say, well, then you you look at Osso. When you're talking about these numbers, go into hospitals. How many hospitals or possibly owned by the same parent company that owns the farms that the big farms that are gonna sit there and. Produce this vaccine all the sudden. Or? Not to say that they don't already have it and are just. Still waiting. I mean I know there's always testing and they have to get FDA approval and God knows what else but I mean, what's to say? that. They're not. You know getting twice the paychecks. On. Both things. Oh. Yeah. There's there's no doubt they're doubling down does absolutely no doubt doubling down your that said the other the other things that I've noticed here I don't know if everybody's been keeping up like I have. There's a Lotta unconstitutional shift happening. Okay. And I mean. Just heard I. Heard I. Heard Mark Heard Mark Giggling that that's fine because. The little that they'll get into that in a little bit but also just I wanna take a moment mark You serve this country with honor and distinction for several years in that in the military and I got to thank you for that Phoenix. You did as well and I got to say thank you for that. You protected my right to become a fat video playing hotdog eating copy guzzling douchebag that you see before you now and some of US servicemen appreciate that and Thank you. Appreciate. Bill. Hey they already did. They're called the IRS and believe me they're up my don't shit. I don't know where they I don't know where I ended maybe. It's not. So we've got measured we've got measures being proposed in in in multiple stages. Here is all the way from you know putting additional taxes on firearms to ammunition and then requiring a federal license. To purchase either. we've got the state of California. Who is you know? Well, let's just be honest they're doing what California does. It essentially eliminated their own their own Anti discrimination laws I don't know how that happened Where the hell does anybody see an end game here other than complete and total? Marxist. Shithole. That's where these lefties and I'm not GONNA say Liberals. Anymore. He's people are leftist-marxist pigs and by the way if any of you listening fuck off, don't ever come back. None of us here at. Fourth Yeah. This year at the Midnight Patriots give a flying fuck what you We don't have time to answer your e mails and believe me you're better off just turning off because if you heard that your heads probably. And I don't WanNa hear about it. Okay. You be somewhere else. All right. Man Okay. Evidently that's not the case. Racist over racist overtones aside I? Mean we can dissect anything want. Come up with all kinds of. The point being is, why don't we just name? The region Caucasians and everybody'll be happy. Okay I mean. Seriously also living in living in Florida I gotTa tell you the university or she state has a deal to to use the seminole name from the from the seminal nation. They paid them royalties every year, which is why you don't hear this here the Indigenous People screaming about Florida state. Okay. So You know I I don't I don't want to say they haven't been relevant for twenty years. Hey easy. I. Agree I agree too I mean my head. One is, Emma water but. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute mark. Are You All I I. Take over the gators day. Well me too because. No. Fan. You know what you know University of Miami and the Florida. GATOR gator. Yeah. So It's just block. "And I'll tell you I just want to remind you We set once the Democrats started pushing for massive testing the intended purpose. Is to use the increase in positive results from increased testing toe push the country toward locking down again. And they're doing that to stifle the economy and any kind of recovery that might occur because it's all about one thing. Everything is about one thing. It is what it is. One of my old time favorite philosophies. It's undeniable. It is what it is. It isn't about anything else, and it's about getting rid of Trump. And it's about convincing the 63 or 65 million people have voted for him not to do it again. That's all. All of this is about. Getting rid of Trump. Massive numbers of new cases. You're supposed to think Oh, my God, that number of people going to die someday or how many of them did die already? 45. 45 people died as The state of Florida reported. They advocate for locking the whole economy down again. Locket. What does that do? How is extending the lock down? Do anything but put off the inevitable Doesn't as we learned from the first lock down. It doesn't stop anything. Flattens the current supposedly Speirs. Hospital system from being overrun, But we found even that. Wasn't a problem in most places other than In New York. So Once again. There's just there's evidence thanks to people like Alex parents and out there that it isn't I'm not going to say it's not bad. It's not how you are being led. To believe. It's not what You are being led to believe. Okay. Big news out of Washington, D C. The Washington Redskins are no more The Washington Redskins have announced that they're going to change the name. They're going to get rid of the name. They're going to get rid of the logo on they're going to get rid of the icon. They haven't announced what the new name of the team will be, but it's going to happen. It did happen. They announced it today. Now I want him. I want to share an observation with you. I said last Monday, a week ago today, and I've said it numerous times sense. No matter what the left gets its never enough. It's not going to make anybody happy. I guarantee you the name Washington Redskins is gone. There isn't any celebrating out there because this does not make them happy. Nothing they get makes them happy. Nothing they get makes them content it just for some oddball reason it makes the left more miserable. They have gotten a lot in the last 10 years culturally, and they're not happy. They're angrier than ever. I told him I thought your last money It's not going to make Colin Kaepernick hap happy if they get rid of the name Redskins. All that's going to do okay, keeps their next into Cleveland, IANS and the Braves, and it doesn't stop anything. It doesn't satisfy them, and I hate having to use this guy as an example, because I like him. Stephen A. Smith. Who has conservative tendencies out there was on ESPN is get up show today. And I want you to listen to what he said about the Redskins, announcing that they're dropping the name. The flipside to it is that when we're sitting here as an African American community, a distant franchise community and we're seeing protests that have taken place in the streets and with seeing people engage a symbolic gesture, But no, really change has been made in America in the year 2020. It's still not a federal law against lynching for crying out loud. When you see these kind of things that are not taking place that I'm not being addressed, particularly as it pertains to African Americans again. It's a bit of sweet feeling where you got tons of it. But what count? Could I be more write? As I say. I hate using Stephen because I liked the guy. What? The program Observer with a question. What's the question? His murder is against the law yet. So you're saying lynching is against the law against lynching if they change the name?.

"As the Washington Redskins would've bothered NATO. Redskins. Just when you say it like that, it sounds derogatory about time to change that, right? Sure going a completely different direction. I hope they don't, you know, keep it in the same like I hope they don't call him the Washington tribe. Or you know what I mean. So you're saying, right? Ooh, something entirely different, something that what could you'd have to be something that's got to do with Washington, D C. That area. Washington Swamp dwellers know alright, just throwing stuff out. See what happens here. 86654 for my FAM Texan. 3143 Let's say good morning to Tanya. Hi, Tania. How are you? Ok, I'm good. I'm really good. Thanks for coming on the show. So in quarantine listening, Tio, Thank you. Soo In quarantine. You had some high hopes of getting what done Getting my dollar potty trained. Okay, any here party train and doing this puzzles. That I had. But I hadn't had a light years. I had I had her two years ago, and I just never got to sell a perfect almost finished. And yeah, I can't find the last piece. No. This one piece missing stone wall. Always missing no table. Yes, and she kept coming over his head. Don't touch. So you're blaming the toddler that they took to peace and pooped it out or something fully blaming her on this one. Hold on. Well, how many enough we did? We did potty trainer son Riley during all of this, And during that process, he peed on a puzzle. So we're working on a weird connection. I mean, what were the connection? How many pieces in that puzzle? Tanya? How many pieces Um, it was a 501 actually, 501 501 piece of pussy. I think she was saying it's a 500. Okay, gosh. So really.

"I'm Ryan Gorman with me this evening, James Berland there on the board. We've got a lot to cover in this final half hour of the show. While we're on the topic of sports, real quick, Amazon. Today pulled all of their Washington Redskins merchandise off their website that's effective immediately. I'm going to tell you whether you want to see this name change happen or not? I think it's without a doubt. Heading in that direction. More so than ever before. I'd be surprised. If the Washington Redskins weren't called something else by this started this football season. And you also have a number of different native American leaders and groups that have come forward. They've sent a letter to the commissioner pushing for the name change. You've got corporate America now. Nike, Amazon talking big Cos. They have decided that they're not going to sell products. With the name Washington Redskins or that logo. Anymore. That's it. It's it's over. It's just a matter of time before This whole thing moves to the next phase, which is what will the name B and the Washington Redskins no longer exist. And one other point on The NFL. Back when Drew Brees. Made his comments about kneeling. Which I took issue with He essentially said that he believed that the kneeling was disrespectful to veterans and military and all of that, and and look I don't agree with kneeling. I wouldn't kneel. Rather they didn't do that, because I think when the national anthem is playing You're celebrating The idea of America, which Really gives us the opportunity to change and fix injustice where we see it. I just think there's a bigger picture that's missed when they do that. I I do think it's totally up to the NFL. I don't think it's Ah, it's a free speech issue. Constitutionally speaking, it's up to the NFL. If they want to allow it. Clearly, they are going to continue. To allow it. Light. Regardless of my disagreement with Drew Brees in terms of how he phrased it. There was a huge pile on Against him. And it was wide spread throughout the NFL. Everybody wanted to take their shot. Drew Brees. Light. Sean Jackson. He goes on Instagram. Any post a bunch of anti Semitic Images, including one I did. Actually, it wasn't an Adolf Hitler quote, but he thought it wass. And I don't see the outcry from NFL players. Like we saw with Drew Brees. It's a lot of silence. Interesting how that works. Drew Brees says something that they don't like. That's not Wolk. And he gets hammered for it to Sean Jackson. Clear is day. What's up anti Semitic instagram post, Not a peep. When that kind of stuff happens, you lose credibility. The cause is you're fighting for lose credibility. I mean, how is that not hypocritical? And you won't hear that, like nobody. Is talking about that. Drew Brees thing that was all over. The place is all over social media. It was all over the news. The mainstream media picked it up. Now I'm not saying that they haven't covered Sean Jackson because that story certainly been out there. But The coverage needs to extend to the silence among the rest of the NFL. Where's the widespread condemnation of dish on Jackson? Or because it's anti Semitism. That's acceptable. That's okay. Don't feel the need to speak out. Let me get to the squad. We got a couple of different things that I need to talk about here and look, I don't spend a lot of time on the squad. Because I don't think they're As important or impactful, as some people make them out to be. I think the right wing media They play them up. And inflate their importance. And they do it because, you know, riles people up creates an emotional response and all of that. Light. They don't Get legislation passed. They're crazy ideas, they don't go anywhere. Green new deal didn't go anywhere. And even when people talk about like a new green new deal It really isn't at all what AOC originally put out there. They don't get anything done. They say a lot. They get a lot of media attention, but they don't get a lot done. And if you're not getting a lot done Then you're really not changing much. Ellen Omar. She was giving Speech the other day. And this is what she had to say. Take a listen as.

"The Washington Redskins have released a statement in regards and response. To the headlines that they're now making right. FedEx CEO has asked the Redskins in a minority investor has asked the Redskins to change their name. Nike has pulled all merchandise from the search bar on their website, and so this is the response. From the Washington Redskins that just broke in light of recent events around our country and feedback from our community. The Washington Redskins are announcing the team will undergo a thorough review of the team's name. This review formalizes the initial discussions the team has been having with the league in recent weeks, Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskin stated. This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition in history of the franchise, but also input from our alumni, the organization sponsors the National Football League and the local community It is proud to represent on and off the field. Ron Rivera, head coach of the Washington Redskins, remarked. This issue is a personal importance to me. And I look forward to working closely with Dan Snyder to make sure we continue the mission of honoring and supporting Native Americans and our military. We believe this review can and will be conducted with the best interest of all in mind. The Washington Redskins. Adam Schefter broke that news and he also added in his tweet Taylor Let's be clear. There's no review if there's no change coming. Do you agree with that? Based on on that release that I just read to you that this indeed means that they're going to change the name from right begins to something else initially, Kitty Yes, I did. I did, And then I read the statement. Two things stand out to me one In that statement. That is literally what Five lines, Maybe six lines. Three paragraphs, right Redskins is named 10 times. 10 times, Katie 10 times that is able. I mean, when you dissect statements and I'd never want to be that guy because you try to be open minded and listen and understand and empathetic and all those buzzwords. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. We're talking about changing the name that is quote unquote racist to a certain demographic of our people. And yet you use it. Attend. Times, Katie 10 times. I also don't want to get into the fact that Ron Rivera somehow got in our military into the same conversation about Native Americans, which I'm still trying to digest because I'm thoroughly confused how our military needs to be in this. So now, as I said, My initial reaction was with Adam Schefter. Okay? Yeah, There's a thorough review 100%. There would be no review if there was no change coming. And then I'm sitting there thinking of 2013 Dan Schneider Capital letters. I will never change the name. I actually believe now I'm going against my initial reaction. I think he's looking at this and I'm going to use this thorough review toe Prove That Redskins is not A racist word slogan. I honestly now believe that And even when you listen to Tony Kornheiser from PT I. He even talked about it that the financial pressure will be enough to force the Snyder to change the name. As long as the Washington Redskins are part of the NFL, and they share in the television package. That's enough to make you whole and profitable without anything else. So the money we're talking about maybe money at the margins that maybe sign Ege. It may be stadium, naming it. Maybe stuff inside the stadium. I don't know that the economic pressure alone will do it for Dan Snyder causes you know, Mike he likes to carry In his in his pocket. A piece of paper from The Washington Post in 2016 a pole in which 90% of the respondents who identified themselves as Native Americans said the names, okay. And he's always talked about that, I think, and I will draw the line with Colin Kaepernick. I've said this on on this program If Roger Goodell once Colin Kaepernick and lead he's got to make it happen him. He's gotta go to a team and say you sign him. And if he wants Stan Steiner changes name him. He's got toe publicly and privately, do it, And I'm waiting for that. So where does Roger Goodell fall? And all of this? Tony Kornheiser brings up the fact that now Roger Goodell is weighing in on the Colin Kaepernick situation, which he did not handle well in 2016 Dan Snyder obviously is holding on to the pole. That was run by The Washington Post in 2016. Does Roger Goodell factor into this? Or is this not his place given all of the pedigree behind The insider and his agreements and legal terms in being the owner and having the name rights. That's a good question, Katie. I don't know that. I mean, my gut reaction is yes. You know, And I said early on in this program in the 10 o'clock hour that you can't support black lives matter and then not support native Americans like you just can't. It's not an apples to oranges, oranges conversation, so My initial reaction is yes. However, you and I both know we're not done. There are 100% gonna be lawyers involved, and I don't know what that contract is. When Dan Schneider side I don't know any of that. That's above my pay grade, but from a PR perspective You announced the statement that you're going to go through a thorough review regarding the namesake of your franchise, and you use that namesake 10 times in 71 words of 72 words of I counted correctly. In a statement. Katie, what am I missing here? It was a blatant way of saying sure We're going to a thorough review. Absolutely. Wait to see what comes out. That's where I'm at with this. Well, here's what we know. Earlier this week, Wall Street investment firms worth a combined 620 billion threatened full capital from FedEx, Nike and Pepsico and some other corporations unless they changed the name. FedEx then contacted formally the Washington Redskins and advise them to change the names. Then Nike on their website took all Redskin merchandise off, so it's no longer viewable. We now have the Washington Redskins, making a public statement that they're undergoing a thorough review. After also Crystal Echo Hawk, founder of Alumni native Pawnee of Oklahoma. She said that the R word is the same as the N word in their communities. And so that is where we are with this. Obviously much more to unpack and unfolding will be covering it all for you on ESPN and ESPN radio. That was straight talk wireless everything for less on Lee at Walmart coming up Howard College sports going.

"One marketing even meltzer Dave Meltzer with entrepreneurs the playbook I love having guests that needs no introduction but just in case you don't know sports this is APN Peterson. I said he may be the greatest running back of all times. The reason I say maybe his career is not over even though he looks older than me. He's an incredible athlete. But more more importantly this is entrepreneur. The playbook as much as you're an extraordinary athlete and running back I'm just so impressed at your entrepreneurial business acumen because you have started several successful businesses and I know so many athletes. I was just with one of the kids that you're mentoring. You know. They want to understand. Not Just is how to be successful on the field but off the field and I'm sitting next to one of my favorite things that you do. which is the comfort three sixty and I love this story? How did you come up with the the idea of a football's a pillow? It was so it was so random I was down in Arizona for good friends Larry Fitzgerald Softball Tournament German. So Did he has. He has every year so I was there and long story. Short Saturday was the event was the golf term was the softball tournament and then Sunday he had a camp so I was actually supposed to be flown out. And I got a call from Lou who is like a mutual friend mature Fran. He had Ludwig dirty work. Asian and stay and come to the camp. So I'm like of course so I go to the camp and They were giving these pills pulls away to To the kids towards the end so Larry into some of these guys gave me like four or five of them to take home to my boys. So I am I gonNA plane and I carry those with me in a little bag. And I'm just like me. I'm trying to find countable right so a pool one email aw and I put it right here on the side of my neck and lay down. It's like wow I it was heaven so I just kind of move it around and say okay let me try different position position so I'll put it right here on my chest and was able to just let my head hang. It was perfect from the bag. So that's how I came up with the name comfort three sixty but that's S. how ideal it came to mind doesn't mean and then the hard questions are when you come up with a great idea or have a great business and you're an athlete. You know a lot of people I think. They have to finance it themselves and the entire venture. How did you deal with the financing? Did you find investors where their investors or did he do it all by yourself. No actually the Did it did it by myself. You know came with You know the whole game plan and just call came out calls Komo. I'm actually halfway through making making my money back from it. You know so I'll just continue to Just get more product and go from now. We'll just one of my philosophies your not a quitter. Obviously so a lot of people quit when they get like halfway there and I'm telling them look it's exponentially if you take the first period of time how many you sold and then the next and then you get to halfway there. You're literally half as much time till you're all the way there then half as much it's time to your twice as much there. So that's a critical part in point in the business but you have other ventures as well you have the teas of Texas guests also lemonade juices. And how'd you get involved in that venture so I got involved with Texas tea back in two thousand fourteen. Thirteen thirteen two thousand thirteen and Is Aggregate Base out of Texas and All the ingredients or or made in Texas you know like we have the strawberry was from Texas Guy Sure go in Sweet tea is Houston imperial sugar. uh-huh got involved because when my close friends actually brought a couple down and was like. Hey you should try this so Maybe like two weeks later I call them hate me. This stuff is amazing. You know we're we're going to get more. He was okay. I was hoping for that type of response. So if you would like to. You know invest and get involved. You know there's up and incoming company So that's how I got involved with it and originally. It was just tease just a tease. Now we branched out to eliminate And also juices as well so it's going good we're in Kroger's we in Heb at whole foods we in all seven eleven and Texas So it's it's growing. Why is growing Roy? When you invest a lot of athletes that idea business coaching with especially when they have a big brand like yours a big name like yours? Do you like to put your money in or just let them use your name as the dealer you do. Both I do both But our rather not come come on a pocket for anything. That's the day MELTZER. That's star athletes. Don't put your money in this username. Negotiated for you know no money but oh you do take those risks in like me. Both of us have been taking advantage of both have lost money in businesses. What do you think the main reason? Ah You know I can tell you. I didn't ask for help as why lost in my money and when I made it back to like. How'd you meet back so quickly? I said I asked for help. I figured out what what I know. All these accessible people might as well ask them. Hey I'm GONNA start over. What should I do in things much easier that way? What do you think the number one lesson lesson for you for what? You've been taking advantage of her. You lost money I would say the same thing. It's funny because I was watching the video that you did. And he was like sitting at a desk and it was like you ask questions to ask questions and That would be the number one thing you know I ask them questions and for me Being involved in football or having a busy life you can you can get sidetracked with a lot of things and not really put your your your your best foot four or You know be dowd in with with the everyday grind of what was going on my wife not paying attention and I was like no. I'm paying attention. There's just tons of stuff going on. Yeah Yeah right yeah sounds to me and so that that right there is something I've learned from and tell these guys as well try to give them the best advice. Ice Is like that. I can and I'm still learning like you know it's still a process for me now. I'm definitely you know what I mean. Involve dedicate myself input time in so I can know on and then one of the older businesses. I know you've had you on a gym down Houston Athletics. Yeah Oh athletic. Yeah I said Oh proudest there you go And you are outstanding was that your first business. The athletic business. Well yeah come out of pocket. Texas T- was was a little before. That one But Yeah Oh athlete it came about you know it was like a vision at first and then you know a couple of years later if my if finally came full circle who is to go like three different locations to work out whether it was hidden. He'll or it was doing yoga or going to this gym to workout Out and Me and to my business partners we were just like hey man we need to. You know find a space where we can have everything under one roof. So that's how we came up with the concept. WHOA athletic We have your for your average joes. It's not like a training facility for which you can use it as well but has your normal more treadmill weight room area We have a boxing ring in there. ring Mixed Martial Art Matt's It's Nice let's set. That'd be like a fifty foot turf in Ariz- well yoga juice bar is tanning room. It's everything you can imagine under one roof as amazing easing now. What I like about those three investments is your proof of them? You know. A LOT OF PEOPLE WANNA mistakes that I made as an investor I would invest and things. I knew nothing about right. And so many athletes. Now the influencers entrepreneurs are like athletes people. Send me free stuff all the time and it's funny because I try you try. Try it and I say to myself. I'm not going to ask these people. Then I find something I love and I'm calling. Yeah we're not get that I get suckered in yeah. Have you invested in anything that you didn't know about Have you made those investments. I have I have It was one investment. I want that I made. I didn't really know much about the The music industry at at this time and I think they're doing better now but for me. It was out of my out of my element. You know my brother was really involved in it and I would say was more his thing because he was kind of like the ground. Your brother listen learn Wahlberg will tell you save the yeah Listen alarm without when I can tell you that So it was a hard lesson learned for me. Our laws money into that Also this company that was based in Minnesota. The Soda This out there now. It's called bite tick who and also a pretty penny gain of always around people with that. It was a great concept and this was when I was in Minnesota so it was like two dollars in eight on that times nine around that time and it was very beneficial right. When you know all the concussion things kind of picking up this mouthpiece would help prevent and you know decreased increased You know opportunity of someone game concussion and It was it was a brilliant idea to look good and it just didn't work out you and I both been around a lot of athletes that have invested and I think a big category of losses come from great idea but it takes more than just a great idea to make money in fact some guys to meet them here one of them. Has this great big. Everybody loves it. Carries all your information. You tap the phone. It gives you your instagram. Forgave your feet. I love the business but keep on asking him. Hey man kind meet the guys that created this. Do they protect their patent. Can the IPHONE put it internally. Turnley an I probably ten years ago. One of ask those questions right out of been as. He's about ten years younger than me. He's so excited to everyone like just because it's is a good idea doesn't mean it's going to make money. Yeah what are the tools or ideas that you have when someone approached all the time and I'm sure there's different layers. That people have to go through. What was the one of your values that you look at to determine the money side of it right? Obviously this works for you. The cheese of Texas tastes as gray. The Gym you needed and you know Jim's not out. How do you determine nowadays okay? Here's here's a good opportunity. I like but does it make money. Yeah so you know bringing in my people and sending them your emotions thousands of getting my emotion out of you. Say you'RE GONNA get caught up and man. Oh it tastes great. It looks great. Great idea but then again like you say you know first first hand is whether the numbers you know so you seem to my lawyers skies do their you know neuter thing. I don't know how to do that. I pay those guys. Ask those guys because I'd rather be able to have someone tell me no and it's successful than somebody told me. Yes and it'd be unsuccessful. Full rather miss. There's only opportunities right. I used to be have a fear of missing out. You know I was like afraid in that caused me to make really stupid investments. They have your family growing a little bit older. How do you have enough time? So one of the biggest questions. You're in incredible shape. You know. Oh you have broken you just broke another one of my heroes would make you a new hero Walter Payton. There's no joke how much time it takes to as a running back to last that long by cover from surgeries and all the things that you do but yet you seem to manage. I've met your wife of beautiful family life. You have great business acumen in energy towards that. But I can't think of any athlete that is focused in on their careers. You as as well. How do you manage your time? This is having a good balance and you know having someone to back you up No not not really you know My same routine. I've been having as far as the making sure professionally. You know where I need to be hasn't it hasn't changed over? You know my entire career but you know my wife she has really helped me out tremendously and With just keeping things on track. It has a lot of the bulk of the stuff when I'm playing football and things like that too so I gotta take a half to her for her. "You could go and way back when he was actually calling offense place with the Washington Redskins. And you could watch let's call it the thirty two games that he called. And you could see on the week weekly basis that, hey the holes were running back for a little bit wider at times for the Redskins and other teams people were getting open a little more consistent. Lot open at times, you know consistently through all those place. You knew that, okay? This, this guy could do something. But you vet him with the players they all mentioned, how he could peach football to them as, as probably as good as anyone they've ever been around. And that's a lot of skill players with different personalities. But then didn't you bring him in, and you sit with him and hear him teach that football explain. In was interesting. Right. And I think it's a big trade of in a very humble way of how these guys are, are getting open. And why these holes are so what? And then I think, and then you ended up, let's call it marrying him and living with him. And then you get to see and I probably couldn't rank the actors like you could. But you sound very self aware, right? You can we can be in a field, and we can know whether it's acting whatever and you may the one of the best. And hey, you know what you can tell what he's one of the best, and I think what we're doing now is getting the c some of those traits that make him one of the best come to fruition, especially over the last two years listening, general manager of the Rams were this year and champion Rams on these Sodano show on ESPN LA. So the one thing that I thought was an look, I you know, you guys are great your great. He's great your organism. Clearly is great. You guys have everything to do with that the way you've built this thing. But when he when you guys lost, he did an interview with Sports Illustrated, and he talked about, how when he was reflecting back on it, that maybe overprepared too much, and I thought that was super relatable because we've all had like a big test or something growing up. And we've may have studied too much and your brains a little cluttered or whatnot. How would you assess the way he kind of handled the aftermath? I know you kind of alluded to the clips and whatnot, but just kind of in general, why it is interesting. I think if you know, Sean, he will he will put probably too much blame on himself. But that's just his DNA that says his nature, that's what he does. And I think that's what makes him really good because he will sell flecked, then try to actually apply some lessons that they feels like he's learned. But. You know, there's some big picture elements into that in that we've been very, very successful. The last two years, but we've only been one Super Bowl, and it was a lot of our first Super Bowl, and, and if some of had been disagreeable in the pass it was maybe when we were younger and less position..

"Against the Washington Redskins. Brutal asked me when did I think that it was like, what was the first moment? He goes was it that Green Bay game? I go that was the opener. I said that was bad. But honestly for me, I think it was I was telling Greenberg I thought it was the November game in San Francisco because that was like what that at that point you what about ten weeks into the season York your nine ten weeks into the season. And it was a lot of bad. And I thought oh boy like this really backfire, and you're I probably stayed with Jay Cutler longer than the longer. We gave him the benefit of the doubt a lot. We made a lot of excuses over the air for Jay over the years for Jay. But it's a fun read. If you go to yes, if you go to athletics, Chicago, like I said, I talked to John at length on Sunday night. And we were reminiscent about like that was really before news broke as often as it does now on Twitter. I mean that was sent out by the Denver Broncos to all the media, Oregon. Nations. That would never happen today. There's no way that's broken by anybody, but Adam Schefter or Rappaport. I mean, there's just no way. Twitter really did J one of the ultimate disservices. I thought to in his career in it's one of the first really big sports stories if he asked me to go nuts on Twitter was what happened in the NFC championship game. When you heard it's not hurt. His knee in the bears wouldn't see anything in kind of threw him under the bus in guys like MAURICE Jones, drew and his peers were criticizing him Twitter was a bleep storm. And that was like one of the first big sports stories. I can remember where it went wild on Twitter in the hate in the vitriol criticism for Jay Cutler, any not that he ever really wanted to because we know his personality, but he was never able to really recover from that. Well, and nobody nobody really ever if you've never had a spring MC L plus one, plus two and know how much instability is that knee. I mean, you're basically going to go back out there. And you're asking yourself deteriorates y'all because once it opens it up everything gets opened up inside. And there's a chance he's gonna tears ACL. You can't play the game with medial instability. It does not work that way guys. Even the guys they never liked him. Like crusader lacquers stat. He couldn't play guys. I mean like he really tried and he out. But the bears threw him under the bus by refusing to acknowledge that you couldn't return if I'm remembering correctly, they deemed him questionable, which is a bad move by the bears for a player is can you tough it out, basically, that's not quite you endure the pain and can you? Go ahead make contribution. That's what. Yeah. You come to the sideline when you're coming out. But I mean, if you if you got no stability and unique guess what you can't play. Ten years of nothing, but Osita ups and downs in agile right for every good moment. There were there were three awful ones that followed. It was a it was a bizarre vexing run with Jay grows on there. Listen Derrick rose wanted MVP. Derek was great. He wanted to MVP guys. He's an exceptional conceptional basketball exceptional everybody tries to rewrite everything with him. And we only got eighteen seconds left guard. He was everybody wants to rewrite everything he needed to come back earlier than he did from that injury. That's it. That was the only discussion point that. There was Wendy come back from the injury was going gonna be nine months. Ten months. Or did he want to come back next October, which which in essence was eighteen months recovering? Right. That that was the question. Derek is. No Jay Cutler category. I'll give you that right now. Jason's really. Yeah. You know, there's just riding a motorcycle poorly. Yeah. I mean, obviously here contributions won't what they should have been. But the talent was there. There's no gray area. There was talent. There was great in. Jay was never great. All right. We're going to talk to Jesse Rogers coming up. We'll talk to Chuck are fine at one thirty. We got White Sox tickets to give away for the opener during the one o'clock hour. So stick around for that. It's ESPN one thousand if you're having issues with your gutters. "To the Super Bowl was the fact that the Watson risk cans had a black quarterback. You know, I always say to myself. I was the quarterback gotta wash the risk in who just happen to be black born in Louisiana in one thousand nine hundred five as a boy Doug Williams was no stranger to the racial abuse that permeated nineteen fifties. America, I grew up during that time, segregation, I saw like growing up. You know, I saw crossers burn. I've been hitting the face with chocolate milk shake on the side of the road. What have you although much it changed between then and the Super Bowl in one thousand nine hundred ninety eight many in the game still carried a misguided belief that African Americans were not cut out to be quarterbacks. The most important player on the team the quarterback controls the game making on-the-spot decisions on how to play the ball whether pass or to make a run on goal. The quarterback is the ultimate play on every football team. Their quarterback position is so important. And that's why so much emphasis was placed on me being the first opportunity to do that because no African American at ever done it. That omit that black quarterback. What smart enough to do that? The road to the Super Bowl was not an easy one for Williams. Six foot four inches and two hundred and twenty pounds, even as a college student Williams was an imposing figure, but despite being an impressive college football player twice being named college player of the year. Only one scout Joe Gibbs turned up at the predominantly black grambling state university nineteen seventy eight to see if Williams had what it took to be a pro and it would take another turbulent decade before he reached the Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego. Sports reporter in Washington Redskins fan. Andy Pollin Doug Williams who had come from a predominantly black school in grambling had played for the Tampa Bay. Buccaneers was the lowest paid quarterback in the league. He wanted to get paid what he was worth. They didn't wanna pay him. He sat out a year of football. And the only team that wanted to sign him in the NFL was the Washington Redskins. And he came to the Redskins one thousand nine hundred eighty six played as a backup to Jay Schrader in nineteen. Eighty seven Schrader got hurt and Williams eventually wrestled away the job and didn't really get it on a full-time basis until the final regular season game. And then he had won two playoff games to get the Redskins to the Super Bowl. So this was a very significant story then just twenty four hours before the big game Williams had yet. Another setback the Saturday before the Super Bowl. I did not practice. I can't four hours in the dentist's office having a root canal. So I didn't get a chance to practice because I was in so much pain. But when I woke up Sunday morning, I felt no pain because I realized what was at stake, you know, growing up in rural areas mall town who would have thought that Doug Williams would end up in the Super Bowl going into the Super Bowl the Washington Redskins with underdogs and went took Williams took to the field with his teammates the nerve stopped to kick in when he was game gametime. You know, you get a little jittery and all the flag waving stands or feel and you really. Allies, and what's about to take place? And you know, you just feel a lot when you throw same yourself. Don't let me mess. This one up, you know, when they call my name and just let it out on the fear, man. It was one of the greatest feeling ever have knowing that it just call your name starred in Super Bowl twenty two as expected. The Denver Broncos.

"More bite our Schultz continuing every American deserves the right to have access to quality healthcare. But what the Democrats are proposing is something that is as false as the wall, and that is free healthcare for all which the country cannot afford, Mr. Scholtz were idiots if you're going to run around and your campaign is gonna say American deserves the right air quality. They're gonna think you're offering free healthcare. That's exactly the trick. That Obama pulled off. The day. Obamacare was signed into law. People all over this country folk that they had free healthcare that day talked to doctors people were showing up at the doctor's office expecting not to have to pay. So when you when you went around out there saying every American deserves the right to have access to quality healthcare. They're gonna think that you're offering free healthcare, and you sit there and claim the Democrats are proposing something is false as the wall free healthcare for all. That's exactly what they're gonna think you're proposing in you know, it he knows it. He knows how these words are to sound. Or trick words if you've got a voter base the does want freebies. This guy's not gonna run against people wanting freebies. That's the whole democrat party voter base. This is not that they want freebies. They're demanding. They don't care how much it costs. He's got no right to buy that yet. He didn't build that yacht. And that one hundred million dollars could better be used for free healthcare are free education are free this or free VAT. And you'll be back in the old days, folks. When one of these left-wingers would come along and promote free education as Kamala Harris that was her centerpiece in her announcement yesterday. "The Washington Redskins, but he had sufficient resources to buy one hundred million dollar yacht. That I could never get close to buying no probably even ride on one hundred million dollars for a yacht. And she's angry about Dan Snyder of the Washington Redskins personally buying a yacht for one hundred million dollars. I ask you this question. One hundred million dollars. Did he take that cash? Put it into a field light it up like a bonfire and blow it into the atmosphere or did he used the one hundred million dollars to pay literally hundreds of middle class, Americans, butchers and bakers candlestick makers carpenters, plumbers electricians and dry Waller's to put his yacht together. How many steel workers that is the way the middle class works because those with money spend it evil Bill Gates and Melinda gates at the end of their days. We'll take literally hundreds of billions of dollars. And use that on numerous charitable causes to alleviate pain and suffering all around the world. So how's it wrong? If Dan Snyder or Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, not his character, do so nonetheless, what say I want to buy a house for two hundred million dollars. I want to have the most beautiful house in the world. Some dude some billionaire New York City, but a penthouse for two hundred and forty five million now who built that penthouse. We're that money go in one of the pockets of steelworkers cement, Masons, what an apocalypse of electrons and plumbers and dry Waller's. And one of their their if somebody's rich enough to buy a jet. There's a multi billion billion dollar industry in America of those who by private jets flown on Hannity's private jet who built that private jet. Whole bunch of middle class Americans make their living out a building yachts and boats and private jets. God bless him. But Hiller, Elizabeth Warren wants to eliminate all those jobs. She wants US Middle class Americans to go on public assistance. Who builds a yacht? A whole bunch of middle class rich people don't build them and poor people. Don't build them middle class Americans build yachts when you're by fancy closer, drink fancy winer, get fancier hundred dollar steak that money goes into the pockets of barbeques servers waiters wine captains. No, that's how those people make a living. Hardly. Anyone makes a living from catering to the economic needs of the poor doesn't work that way. Walmart is successful because it supplies middle class Americans. Good products at good prices, and they succeed famously because of that fact and one the WalMart rich airs all die. Those monies will be distributed either the federal government or charitable organizations. What tells wrong with that the government does a better job than private individuals? I don't think so I really don't think. So I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, a rich guy a good man named Carl Linder as spending five hundred million dollars to build a brand new stadium and bring a MLS franchises. Cincinnati five hundred million Danny glazed, and where does that money? Go. Is it a bonfire somewhere? Hell, no. Hell no the money goes into those who build a beautiful brand new stadium middle class Americans. That's where the money goes can you smell when I'm cooking when a stadium is built at some high expense when the LA Rams are building their fancy stadium. I think it's like two billion dollars, and whose pockets does the two begging dollars flow, and if somebody didn't have two billion dollars is it a bar putting his pocket collateral is it that stadium will not be built in Los Angeles for the Rams and the chargers that two billion dollars goes into the pockets of middle class Americans. Why can't Elizabeth Warren figure this out? She thinks their assets should be seized. Cossio Cortes thinks no one should make ten million dollars a year. If you make ten million dollars a year, you pay an effective tax rate of about twenty five percent. That means the federal government and state government or the partners of those individuals. And when you buy expensive homes like in Naples, Florida for five or ten million dollars. There's a one percent tax levied on this houses every year. The money goes to government. It is a shell game. Played by the radical left to convince you that wealth in the formation of wealth is evil, and it is not I will never be wealthy. But I understand I have some wealthy friends. And I see them spend lots of money and those who benefit are overwhelmingly middle class Americans who need that money to work to work. Somebody New York City built that fabulous billionaire row right there on central park think of the amount of money that a cost to build that I'm told something the range of two and a half billion dollars and all of that money went into pockets of middle class Americans. And when those people live there, they're going to need all kinds of middle class Americans to serve their wants and needs and wishes, and that's how the system works. Rich guys. Enrich women fuel the middle class because surely the forty to fifty. Million Americans in grinding poverty are not producing sufficient boats, and yachts and aeroplanes and fancy buildings and brand new stadiums. They're not doing that. There's no work very little if any, but for those wealthier Americans, everything I do in my life generates money for other people, and I'm not wealthy. I have an income. But I'm not wealthy when I see my rich friends do things. I see all these individuals benefiting by their economic activity, the thousands and thousands of billionaires around the world and the millions and millions of millionaires around the world are the reasons the economy is moving forward so much in one thousand nine hundred seventy nine hundred seventy seventy one percent of the world lived in grinding poverty. Here we are what about fifty years later. Seventy one percent has become thirty seven percent. It is falling rapidly goes to wealth formation the spending of money can you smell? What do you understand what I'm saying? Let's continue. We've got thousands on hold. We got JD and get calls from from Nevada. Virginia, Chicago, Connecticut, Massachusetts in all places in between JD in Las Vegas. Can you smell what I'm talking about economic growth? You understand what I'm saying? Yes, sir. Billy and. Proud to call you by radio friend, all all these years grateful for what all you do. I believe you'd probably do it for nothing. If you really wanna I'm still passionate about I love coming in here. Sunday night talking to people like you. I enjoy the debate. It it angers me significantly when we have a left-wing Democratic Party that wants to destroy the country through illegal immigration, and then they wanted to destroy wealth and job creation of put more people on welfare because if you didn't have people like Wayne Allyn root, if you didn't have people like Steve Wynn. How many jobs Steve Wynn created do you think? Alison, how many jobs Attleson create? Hundreds of thousands of about five thousand at each hotel. Now, what if what if he had no money to invest where he wouldn't have hotels? You wouldn't have jobs now, why can't figure that out? Because they're not in the business of a working for their money and building your own wealth. They live off government. Billy you mentioned earlier on about foster kids here in Las Vegas during the election. We had a problem with about eighty seven foster kids, they had no more money. Our congressional delegation was our democratic congressional delegation. They were at the border worrying about the kids there. And then went to Hollywood LA La Land to get money from Jane Fonda. That's the Democrats. I wanna ask you a question and see if you've heard about this there were four elderly people shot and murdered last Saturday in Reno Nevada. Eighty one years old eighty a man and wife seventy four year old man and a fifty six year old one. I never heard about it. No wonder he was nineteen years old. He's nineteen years old, and he's from Guatemala, and he's here illegally four hundred miles from Las Vegas. It did not make local news four stations other than one one time. Billy I called although stations and ask them like trying to help him out. I knew story and told him about it. They said, oh, yeah. We heard about it. I said well rising on TV. They sits on our website. Well, JD all the news that fits they print that doesn't fit but a kid a white kid in Washington at a pro-life rally. We're on a mega hat now that fits that excites. That triggers the mainstream media, but you take an illegal immigrant from Central America killing four innocent people in Reno I never heard about it because it doesn't fit. Does it that happened last Saturday? And now that Samantha I saw both of those interviews. I saw how aggressive she was with the young, man. I saw the first thing that she asked him you feel like you have to apologize, and then when they had to sixty four and he he didn't have any notes or anything, and he's intelligent, and he was answering her questions, you know, off the cuts apps after and he did a great job the Indian style up. Like, you said she put the words in his mouth and all he had to say was. Yes, or no, do you feel this? Did you do this? I mean, the man could have I hate to say it. The man has an IQ about twelve. And you know, she was so soft with him that just goes to show, you how how how they how they have the media just is so unfair JD. The Reno situation is a microcosm of a larger event. Which is the media has determined. We need more third world poverty. Individuals into this country. I read a report about two months ago to the Chicago Tribune that America has at least one hundred thousand kids needing foster care one. We have one hundred thousand American kids the system is failing across the country one hundred thousand and so the media gets all exercised about equality Mullen kid who sent here without parents in tow, and we're supposed to stop the whole country. When we got one hundred thousand American kids that need foster care needs, psychological. Services navy medical care. We're not caring for kids. One. Isn't it? And they're worried about a couple of hundred kids at border. You know, I I called one radio station after the six o'clock news. They started it off with a shooting a murder in Chicago at a mall of one person. I said to the news director the next day. I said you let off with a Chicago murder. I don't care about murdering Chicago and Las Vegas and said you forgot about before up in up in Reno. She said, oh, they're on our website. Well, you know, JD you're fighting a Louis losing battle. And I got Bill Donahue, the Catholic League coming up in about fifteen minutes talk about some of this. But that when when the media sees a white kid whose pro-life and Catholic weren't a mega hat. That's it that kids not going to get a normally when he got a sixteen year old boy, by the way. Nick salmon looked about ten years old when I saw him. I said I haven't met the guy don't know him never will meet him. He was a kid. Normally when the media interviews a kid they're treated differently than a sixty four year old activist. But she treated the activists would kick gloves and cross examine a sixteen year old boy that was traumatized and the medal shot to shot the TV. I can't believe when I'm watching. I said you got this was a forty nine year old lawyer, savannah Guthrie who has a juris doctor degree from Georgetown law that is using her skills to break down a sixteen year old boy who by the way did a great job. But she's given a sixty four year old native American who's lying clearly lying free pass a complaint and lead and leading the witness was she said to the boy at one point. Don't you understand that if you stand there and do nothing that can't be threatening? And he said, well, no, I wasn't threatening. I didn't know what to do. And if you're frightened of a mobster crowd, do you voluntarily walk in the middle pick somebody out in powder drum in their faces that what you do when you're frightened of a crowd. And she never she never asked the Indian you advanced on him. He was standing his. He was there you approached him. He didn't come to you. And at five thirty that night. He was outside a Catholic cathedral pounding Trump trying to break into break up. Amass. Why didn't you ask him that question? The other thing, you know, I think was Glenn Beck. He said, you know, in New York, he knew about these black Israelites because they're out there on the sidewalk every day for the last twelve years I've seen every every New York every New York reporter every New York TV personality knows who these people are and knows what they do. And how bad they are. But they don't they don't because they're black. They get covered not because of their behavior, but because of their skin color, and of course, Nathan Phillips was covered a certain way because of his native American origins, but these white kids got no pass from the media at all because of their color their gender and their political beliefs and wearing a Trump at and then you got someone like the Catholic Bishop of Lexington Kentucky bishops sto saying, quote, Ed astonishes me that any students participating in a pro life activities on behalf of the school in their Catholic. Faith could be wearing apparel sporting, the slogan. The president who denigrates the lives of immigrants. So you have a Catholic Bishop attacking Catholics for being Trump supporters. It's unbelievable. Let's continue twenty two minutes after the Bill Cunningham live with you every Sunday night..
