"Is the suns. The more I think about it, the more I'm like, there's not an actually a It's just weird to him imagine him on any team in the NBA currently. He really just he's had such a strange career and he's such a nomad now. He really is just feels like he can't go back to Oklahoma City the way LeBron went back to Cleveland. I mean, it's not that the fans wouldn't welcome him, but it's just not the same. It wouldn't be a contender. He's not doing that. He's not going back. I don't think I know golden states in the mix, allegedly, I think that would be weird. That would be terrible. There'd be terrible for the league all over again. And I just, but I think it's the sons because it's a contender. I think the storylines would be really good. I think the positive of him playing the warriors in a playoff series would be incredible. Possibility of him playing Tyree LeBron and AD in a playoff series would be incredible if Kyrie ends up on the Lakers, which I think most people expect at this point. So that's the team I think I want the most just because I think the storylines would be great. I think they'd be a title contender, but I don't think they'd be some kind of runaway favorite that made me feels too unfair. So that's the one I've kind of zeroed in on, but honestly, the more I think about it, the more I'm like, yeah, Toronto could be interesting, although without, you know, if they sent out OG and Scottie, it's a good team. I don't think it's a fantastic one. I like Memphis, but I don't know, man. There's no team that I'm like, this feels right, like this fits. This is gonna be awesome. So I'm actually, I'm writing a column right now where the team I'm about to say is the team where I do feel it's perfect for him and it's perfect for the team. I don't know how realistic it is. That he actually goes there and Vegas odds are actually okay for this as a destination, although completing a trade, it would involve multiple teams to build up..

"But you know what, we're going to get right into this chart. I just want to talk to you about the landmark decision, the biggest and over 50 years. We're going to stand for that. Got a good. We just gave God a standing ovation. Amen, and just praise God praise God praise God. And I just want to say, to those of you that have been prayer warriors on the issue of life, God bless you, that victory was for you. For those of you that have been fasting and praying for your nation, God bless you that victory is for you. For those of you that have seen someone that made a decision for life and you know how beautiful and precious life is and you prayed at the courts when one day make that decision, that victory was for you. And for those of you that work in the pregnancy crisis centers here in Albuquerque, God bless you. And I also want to thank so many of the Titans that came before that fought for this because this was a generational fight. There's so many people that are no longer here that fought so hard for this. God bless Billy Graham for his moral clarity for years on this issue. God bless Rush Limbaugh, who never gave an inch who sought on this issue. And ten years ago, justice Antonin Scalia, another warrior, passed away, and he passed away in 16, but ten years ago, he was saying, you know what? I think the court is just off the

"I'm away in Europe filming this week, but rather than give you dear listener a well earned week off. We have decided to make it champions week by re airing a series of beautiful conversations with past guests who are undisputed winners in their respective sports winners in life and we begin on this 5th of July with a truly great American recently crowned NBA champion Golden State Warriors head coach, mister Steve Kerr, it's only his 9th title, a gent who wins NBA trophies like Real Madrid win the Champions League, although it's Liverpool fan Steve won't like me saying that, but I digress this conversation comes from the fall of 2019 when I traveled to San Francisco to interview Stephen personal had long admired him as a player as an analyst and as a coach, but it was a human being that I encountered during this conversation that absolutely blew me away. The candor with which he spoke about his father's murder at the hands of terrorists, the lessons he learned from playing with Michael Jordan and what he thinks football could teach basketball players. He's a study in so many values that I cherish and he really leaned into this conversation, which is why it remains one of my favorite interviews we've ever done, so here it is. My conversation with the best Chicago bull all time, not.

"Here. Kristen Hawkins, phenomenal pro life warrior. I saw you right there in front of the Supreme Court as the decision came down wonderful students for life, Kristen, welcome back to the program. Thanks for having me, Charlie. Good to talk to you again. Thank you. Congratulations. It's been many years of work for you and so many others. Just first, your initial reaction roe versus wade being overturned. Yeah, I mean, almost indescribable to talk about this moment that we've been working for for 50 years to see the court admit that it was wrong, egregiously wrong in 1973 and disregarding the science of human life and when it begins. But to know that this decision immediately after this decision came down, states started to act to ban abortions, shutting down abortion facilities. Within one day we knew of over 400 children that had been spared the violent death of abortion. And this is really a turning point for our entire culture and our entire country. And I think really, as you saw with President Biden's remarks, the day of the decision, the start of the 2022 midterm election

"On paper, you can put up against anyone in either conference because you look at the warriors too now. They've lost some bodies here. Yeah. Like I know they got deep Vincenzo, but losing Gary Payton and auto Porter, those are pretty key parts of those teams. So it certainly tough to see any team that's really taking a step forward on the contending front. This off season like this always have to this point. Yeah, I want to go through the east with you right now and how you think this whole thing stacks up. And again, we're taking out with a grain of salt because this Durant kairi situation could totally blow things up, but where the rest of them stack up. But I really want to get to some of the moves right now across the rest of the NBA. Danny ainge has certainly been active out there in Utah, a monster piece getting moved yesterday, and he might not be done either Donovan Mitchell could soon be on the move there in Utah as well. I want to get your thoughts on those how all those teams did and then some of the other moves across the league as well as you mentioned. Golden State losing some pieces as well. "I can't think of a better guess to help us talk about the victory and to celebrate the victory of roe versus wade being overturned, then bob Vander platz, bob, welcome to the program. Good to be with you, Charlie. Thanks for having me on. So bob, just your initial reaction. You've been fighting for decades. For the reversal and the overturning of roe versus wade, probably longer than I have been alive. I was told by people for years that it would never happen and that we have to keep our expectations low. Talk about the significance about this and how multiple generations of workers and prayer warriors helped deliver this victory. But Charlie, it was huge. And first of all, it's a nice way of telling me I'm old, but it is true. We have been praying for a long time, activating for a long time. And hoping that one day, we would see all the American embrace a culture of life. And that would begin by the overturn of roe V wade. And so Friday on June 24 is a little bit like an out of body experience that this is really happening. It's almost a picture yourself. And right away from our governor to many others, texting me, just praise God that this is happening. And I'm glad I got to be on this side, where I got to see it. Charlie, I think, of so many have gone before me, who have fought hard, gave other resources, prayed like crazy, and they just never got to see this day not knowing that this day would ever come to be, but we're definitely celebrating today that it did

The Pro-Life Warriors That Need to Be Honored Today

"Now, I would be remiss if I did not mention two, now passed away legend and heroes. That are largely responsible that helped us get where we are today. And that is justice Antonin Scalia and the great Rush Limbaugh. Rush Limbaugh was a pro life warrior. He would be so happy right now. He brought so many people into the pro life movement. Rush Limbaugh, for years, was one of the most articulate and courageous. And intense pro life leaders, unapologetically so. Rush Limbaugh was pro life before the pro life movement had the funding or the infrastructure or the kind of grassroots support. And rush would never lay off of that topic. Rush was on top of it for 30 years in the excellence in broadcasting. I remember time and time again when I was a senior in high school and I would be listening on local Chicago radio, rush would be going on and on and on about some pro life story about how Planned Parenthood was doing something illegal. And another person that I do want to mention that deserves a lot of credit as well is Billy Graham. Billy Graham, he would just be so ecstatic right now. Scalia, rush, Billy Graham. Billy Graham, who spoke moral clarity into our times. Billy Graham, who was, in my opinion, the most successful evangelist in the 20th century. Who at any pastor you turn to, they have nothing bad to say about Billy Graham. Verse by verse chapter by chapter, he preached the inner sea of scripture, but he was very clear about the moral truths of our country. Or that under undergird our country. And then finally, Trump brought all of this movement to fruition. And yes, I begrudgingly and reluctantly. Have to say, Mitch McConnell deserves credit for not putting Merrick Garland on the U.S. Supreme

It's Total Bedlam in Front of the Supreme Court...

"Its total bedlam in front of the Supreme Court. It's not. Anything that is violent, I pray it remains that way. The people are using very charged language. In fact, let me read one of the tweets of somebody outside of the Supreme Court right now. One of the speakers with a megaphone also called for an uprising similar for the one in 2020 in the wake of George Floyd's death, any sort of mainstream media sympathy that these activists might be getting. I think is going to shatter as soon as they continue to use language like this. But from a legal analysis, we have the great Josh hammer, newsweek opinion, editor, and a constitutional expert to just walk us through what exactly this means. Josh, welcome back to the program. Tell our audience, does this outlaw abortion or does this send it back to the states? Tell us specifically what is in this opinion. So Charlie, first of all, great to be with you on such a great day for the constitution and great day for the country, really a great day for the human species for the very simple reason that we will have more unborn innocent human beings will actually be able to live as human beings. So it's a remarkable day for the country and on daylight they have Charlie. I think young pro lifers like you and I just have to have a debt of gratitude honestly to the past 50 years of pro life activists who got us. That's such a good point. Sorry to interrupt. Joey Sulipeck Investigated for Tweet Against Draymond Green

"Let's talk about Joey solo pack. Now, you know Joey, you were a meteorologist, your weather guy here in the Memphis area for a very long time before switching over and doing the right thing and coming to radio. Exactly. Exactly. I knew joy for I've known Joey for over 20 years. We did not work at the same station, but I would see him at conferences. I would see him locally and he's always been professional. He's the kind of guy that will walk up and ask you and know, you know, your family's name, how they're doing. He's the kind of guy that you want in the market. So he's a good guy. Very much so. So he's a big Memphis Grizzlies fan, and of course, there was a lot going on. It was a pretty tense rivalry between the warriors and the grizzlies. And he wrote a tweet. Yes, he did. And this goes all the way back to May 7th, and this was when the grizzlies were in the second round against the Golden State Warriors and draymond green is a troublemaker on the court. He runs his mouth a lot, he'll push, he'll nudge whatever he can to get an advantage. And one of the grizzlies players had just gotten ejected for the first time that they had mouthed off to the official. Joy writes, chew on this, draymond runs his knuckle dragging open mouth all game long, but mild mannered, Kyle Anderson disputes one call and gets ejected. Next level, Jack assery. That's it. So basically, he was saying the guy's a Neanderthal. Yes, okay. All right. Well, well, the local sports guy for the commercial appeal. Got ahold of that tweet and turned it into this big racial controversy that literally went nationwide. Everybody was talking about poor Joey solo pet who in the aftermath apologized. He should not have apologized. He did nothing wrong, and then deleted his account, he should not have done that. He did nothing wrong.

"You know, we need warriors right now. Boy, do we need we need conservatism and it feels to me like the Republican Party is teed up to have a really successful November to start taking this country back. We desperately need a return to sanity and normalcy and yet a lot of conservatives are very upset about this gun control, you know, bipartisan deal. Now 14 Republicans are supporting it. What do you say to the American to the average American who cherishes the Second Amendment doesn't want red flag laws doesn't want our constitutional rights taken away from your perspective and you've been at the game a long time. You know you know this world is this advancement problematic or is it something that needed to be done after you've all in Buffalo and other mass shootings? Well, I think this unfortunately reflection of the Senate or you've got a number of people who on any number of issues are on the bubble. They've held firm up until recently. I think because of obviously the dismal ratings of Joe Biden and his economic policy, but I do think it's a reminder that we've got to have a countermeasure to this. When I was governor years ago, we initiated a number of things to improve school safety, put our money where our mouth was did more to put officers into schools did more to reinforce schools and did more to deal with mental health issues. We've seen in Texas as we've seen elsewhere, time and time again, particularly coming off this pandemic. We've got a mental health crisis, particularly amongst young people, and these feel good. A gun control laws aren't addressing those issues, and that's rarely really where we should be spending our time.

Alan Dershowitz: The Jan. 6 Committee Is Not a Fair Committee

"Check out Alan Dershowitz, the famed law professor talking about the real impact of the January 6th select committee. Here he was yesterday with newsmax's Greta van susteren. Well, it's not a fair committee, obviously. It's like the Boston Celtics going to play the warriors and the NBA says only the Celtics can go on the field, not the warriors. One team on the field, not the other team. Nobody should pay attention to the conclusions of this kangaroo committee. Of course a committee can make a recommendation. So can you make the recommendation to Congress, but to the Justice Department, the adjustment won't follow it. President committed no crimes. His speech was constitutionally protected. Ill advised to be sure. But constitutionally protected. I put it in the same category as Chuck Schumer's speech, both ill advised, both constitutionally protected. You know, that's an interesting takeaway from professor Dershowitz. Chuck Schumer arguably incited a would be assassin to show up at Brett Kavanaugh's doorstep.

I think that's fair. I was gonna say seed plus but if you wanna talk me into minus okay with that for all the reasons. i know. The names were sexy. No otto porter used to be basically a max guy. I know that bill has been a guy that orders fans have been aware of for very long time. Dodge thing kind of saves the offseason just from a feel-good perspective warriors. Fans can't hate this. That's part of why. But when you talk about okay did they go out and get a legit six man can count on every night and did you go out and get a legit backup point guard even on every night. I don't think that they did that. I think they actually kinda missed. Not just one spot but to so to recap. We gave the draft name. Honors trades aka trade of the and free. Agency of b minus. I think overall we're giving we're going to get be the offseason. That almost feels like too good. Or i feel like we should give it. A b minus. Okay may maybe we should just revise and give free agency plastic you relating to four when you make the rules give us. Yeah we're gonna give this. Plus i'm trying to make it make sense And then we'll We'll give the overall grade a. B. modest look. It was okay. Hey offseason but it didn't accomplish the top objectives which was to get a key difference maker and to make sure that you have a true six man that didn't happen so you cannot given a b. minus extra generous B minus bob. You detri- but it didn't work out. It's just to go. yeah. And i don't even know how much is on the front office. I just think that sometimes it's a circumstance like this is a very different. Nba now with the warriors are sort of learning how hard this stuff is like. This wasn't like everything together. Perfectly like it did for four..

"It looks thin yeah. I don't know that he's really gonna play heavy minutes to five i think he considers himself before wallet and Obviously a very static addition I'm not convinced he's going to be a huge difference maker anymore. You saw much more minutes than that. Your follow the heat closely. What did you think of his season last season. I mean look terrible. I mean he shot late. Thirty eight percent overall was a career. Low not just not the overall it would always a lot of his stuff comes to the rim has kind of his thing. That's very bad but the same time. It was a really quick turnaround after he got there. They went to the finals. In the bubble run they had like four minutes off before the next season started and he had to turn around and it just at thirty six thirty seven years old. It's just a lot. He infamously needs a while to get going and he never really got that a condensed season right. We know this was exhausting. I just thought last year was like the worst possible circumstance for andre dollars. So i think there's a case made they have a bounce back year. I also hope as it literally does not get worse for audrey would than it did last year as far as the numbers are concerned. So i think the bounceback here smaller role my news relying on him a lot because they lost air jones junior and some of these other guys on the wing and they really needed him to fill so minutes end because also struck out on their own region additions. They're asking too much. Lures are not going to ask as much and ask them to put probably play most nights not a ton of minutes. Not gonna be like six man andrea minutes. Not in my miami closing lineups. There are some nights. I'm sure he will have quote like he'll have the hot hand and it'll be in the lineup. Really fun time for orders fans like that'll be a great game story to right but It's not gonna be a night tonight thing But i think more than anything having golly doll in there. It is really good for guys. Like moses moody johnson coming and james wiseman and jordan pool and these guys who need to learn some of that warriors ethos that they were attracted to the words for in the first place and then christiana to a contract guy who's bounce around from the g. league to the. Nba has yet to kind of find his footing really in the nba. But i think he's an upgrade at that to a spot over nico manny and he's a little bit more proven he's a good passer I think he's probably a little better defensively even though he is really small he's only five eleven hundred seventy pounds. What did you think of their decision to basically prioritize shows overmanning because they could've brought many back on to mention got what i was told it was a significant offer from ver- tosa in italy. Which is the top team in italy And was basically just waiting on things to come together for the warriors and they basically told them. We're going with chosen. So he's a piece. I'm going to italy. The nice thing for the warriors though is that. He's a restricted free agent so they retain his nba rights and if he does really develop and come on..

"Idea had seen him hp specter extra sixty a more thoughtful laptop. The kelly oubre aham situation played out. He got a decent amount of money but a lot. It's only a two year deal. They wanted more years. I don't think the second year in the second year is not fully guaranteed and so there's a certain port where okay break got humble real quick and was like look. I'll take some money. We and he has like one of those weird. Nfl contracts now where it's like thirteen million dollars with thirty million dollar player. What twelve and a half million dollar player but only like two million of his or something. That's only partially guaranteed so the nfl contract. You can look at it more big picture and say you know. They paid eighty million dollars with luxury tax for this guy. He wasn't super helpful last season. Then you could potentially traded him at the deadline you didn't and then you're getting nothing for him you can. You can argue that the warriors mishandled him. I don't think they had a ton of options. I think that this is just a series of unfortunate events in some in some cases like they did the best. The kid in a crappy situation after cleveland down to get someone who could be helpful. They did what they had to do to get him. And then minor standings at the trade deadline they just really did not have any compelling offers at all it's less of a series of fortunate events. They could have moved him the deadline and they should have and we said that back then. It was just very obvious that there was not going to be a long term future for kelly oubre. The writing was very much on the wall. I don't know if it was a situation where you didn't want to put yourself in a situation where you had to pay somebody else. Long-term they might have been looking forward to getting off that filton million dollar salary and based on all of the financial stuff we were talking about. That certainly was a player like they could have been like. Hey what's not trade for anybody but then again. It just felt like a wasted opportunity. But i'll say this they were never planning on using that trade exception that they used to acquire in the first place. If clayton not gotten hurt they were just going to let that expire and so. I just don't think that. I think it was just very much. A convenience of marriage ownership didn't want to pay that kind of salary caps lottery said. Hey if you don't if you let them walk nothing you lose a salary cap slot and i think the warriors were just very okay with that happening and fans understandably. We're not okay with that happening. Right you've treated andre with allah patron saint of warriors hood right for this fifty million dollar exception in order to facilitate scientific that got the ngelo russell. Here that andrew wiggins gianluca mingo. But you traded andrew andre dollar and you're just gonna let this thing expire and now we don't have it all i could see as a warriors fan frustrated by that but that was always going to happen but so you look at who..

"You sort of like the face of the franchise for a little bit. Which was weird. We wrote a lot about him. And but part of our life happened. But you know i think it was just. It was time for it to be done. I think he's a guy who could be in the nba for awhile. I just don't think that it was the right fit for the warriors long-term and utah. They've done a lot of good work with tween ford's like pascal right like they have taught a lot of guys like password how to shoot through. So if you can't do it then. I don't really know what its future is but i think it's as good of a landing spot as any paskal And then obviously. Reuniting without mitchell is nice their childhood friends so as far as like how you grade. That actually would give that. I'd probably fall at a be all great this one give him a b. They didn't really get now set back to kind of put. They kind of painted themselves into a corner. Thousand move that you could telegraphed happening way earlier. In the fact that they had no leverage in that trade discussion with utah. Because you knew that they needed to the roster spot. They knew they didn't want to move offer. Moulder or namely or gary payton guys. Who like actually have potentially have a play unlike paschal. They didn't want to move off of any of those guys. Despite those guys being a non guaranteed deals pascal's deal with full guaranteed if they waved on they. Were just gonna eat that money. The jazz from office knew that that was the case. They're not stupid and they basically traded him a fake. Second rounder in. We're to help the warriors save my and they got a decent player pascal. Great like he's a decent player. he's really injured. He was injured at the end of last year waiting for a long time. But he's a good player. So i just thought that if the words would have thought ahead a little bit more and look it's not the end of the world but if they would have thought i had a little bit more they probably could have gotten a legit asset back in return farouq possible before they went out and filled out there. Austrian free agency that this is a deal could have done something similar to this earlier in the free agency right now this season i mean it's pretty clear midway through season i he was not gonna fit. He's he's good at one thing and that one thing is not what the wanna do. He's an isos score. And he can't rebound can't pass. He can't he's not around player and he says the word he's horrible helps defender so so free agency just to recap real quick on the worst went out and got out of puerto junior namaacha be andrea dolla. Christiane porter billy and it would all that minimums she is signing a two way contract with the warriors it's looking like the words are not going to use their five point. "What grade do the warriors get west. Thank you so much for joining me back on. The podcast works year in las vegas for summer league at. I'm not gonna say the name of the hotel. But it is one of the not as nice hotels on the las vegas strip We're trying to be nice to the company not not trying to go over that per diem too much. So but we're we're high up overlooking the beautiful last vegas strip and the pools and all the the lavishness that is las vegas and we're talking about suddenly and we're really That have been down there. Which just feels like a like a metaphor for our lives and sort of wave it starts off. Strong is just like you know yeah. There's a lot of crazy stuff happening around us. But we're allowed in on basketball and providing content to the masses. You guys being part of those wonderful masses. And i wanted to use today's podcast to basically evaluate the offseason because i think that the warriors are done making any significant moves. Any news of note moves of you know. I think they're going to end up. Not using their mid-level exception. I think that if you look at the roster right now it's pretty full and you know everything's pretty much intact. So i think. I think were pretty free to start breaking down at the overall off-season in essentially give it a great And so what i wanna do on this podcast is i want to go through. Aussies step-by-step the draft trades and free agency because those are the big ways to add talent and and break down each of those individually. And then at the end of this. We're gonna provide an overall grade on the offseason and talk about whether or not they're legitimate contenders. Because that was the ultimate goal internacional was too well position yourself to the bona fide title contenders internet season. So has bob myers achieved that objective. We will discuss So the first the first big thing was the draft right and it's been a crazy few weeks because we had the draft and summer league and they're paschal trade and free agency all simultaneously or back to back and so the draft. Obviously they ended up holding onto to both lottery. Picks taking jonah number seven taking moses moody number fourteen. We've talked about it on the podcast recently..

"I think that would work like we. Markey's chris do that a couple of years ago those handoffs. I think he fits that role. He's a good playmaker arches. One point eight assists over his career. Not only is gonna space the floor as shooter but if he can kind of bring back some that zaazaa petrolia david west andrew. Bogut stuff as far as a guy who can get into the high post for you make the right pass. Split action and honestly. I think that's my favorite thing about his game in terms of how this with the war system the warriors have really. They've really missed guys like david. Watson's is a pachulia guys who can post on the low block in just with one hand kick out to an open shooter and read. Read the defense really quickly. Make a snap decision that should not be underestimated in the water system. The worst systems really bit built around that. There's a reason why. Andrew bogut was so prized in their system There's a reason why they haven't had a twenty and ten center and they've leaned more on these guys because the way their system was built they need the center to be kind of an offensive fulcrum. And i think that be elite. Chea can provide that and yes. He's not super athletic. But neither was truly. And you can. You can hate Pachulia want but he played a role on those teams and he was a hopeful player and is because he was smart player who read defenses. Who who who could pass the ball and be at least you can can shoot the ball to which would zaza zaza could not do so It's i think i think it's a good signing. I'm not sure how big is role will be. I do feel like as long as puerto healthy that he'll be a legitimate top a rotation guy he should be. He has the talent. He's only twenty eight like people forget. he he should be the hardest prime right now I think his best years behind him. Because of the injury issues in the lack of explosiveness. But i think he can be a real solid role player and look. This is a guy who at his court is a role player. He just was such a good role player that he ended up at one point. Getting amax contract yeah. He's he's signed that. Max when you know there was that summer of two thousand sixteen and then that following year they're alive. We're making a lot of money back. Then emplo georgia's was a big deal. Everybody's looking for wind tunnel money. They gave him a crazy offer. Sheet that three wing right. The paul george is quiet. Leonard's and everybody's picking the draft like you should have all the tools does right look good. Shooter defends multiple physicians. All these things Injuries obviously robbed him of that. Kind of versatility defensively i. I don't see him defending guys at the point of attack. I think he's gonna defend mostly reason fours but we'll see right. He's got the strength. There is the physical profile. Is there for him. To be like the wiggins backup and and guard apex predator wings. Lebron kawai pg and things like that so look again at the minimum. It looks like a home run. But he's got to play for you. My only question is otto porter. That's good building..

"They're gonna have a long career in the nba giving solid minutes to any team just because they love the game of basketball that much and they know what it's about they're not just here to get their money and call it a day. You know three years. I completely understand everything you're saying. And i completely understand the argument for mitchell but i have some reservations about him just as a top ten pick. I mean when you're talking about a top pick. I think you want someone who at least has a chance to be a stud down the line to be like a an all star caliber guy or at least close to it. And the track record for players in mitchell's mold as lottery is not great. I mean when you when you talk about guys who twenty two years old who You know don't have great measurable He's he was underwhelming in terms of his height and his wingspan at the combine Those guys just don't have a great track record historically like could do. I think he's going to be a really solid rotation player for a long time yet. But i think there's a lot of guys in this draft are going to be really solid rotation players for a long time. And i want to take him at seven. I'm not sure i do. That's just my feeling. I mean what you're saying exactly about very things that you're saying right now about mitchell is exactly what everyone was saying about dozen bain. Last year he was five. He was fucking his rookie year. Yes and city arguably to second best player last season which might say more about detroit. The bay but Yeah no i completely understand. And i've i've talked to my friend in fellow be writer on on my pot about this before and his argument was look. Do the warriors need like a future star at this pick. Not really i mean they. They need someone who's going to help him right away. They wanna maximize the steph curry window. And i think. I understand the argument of just like look. We're just gonna take him a seven. Hope he's like kind of a maybe a better version on par with someone leg. Marcus smart and and go from there and and not worry about the future accolades And just hope that he can help maximize window. I completely understand that. The process and I think it's very plausible. There's no way he's available at fourteen right. There's no way. I don't think so. No now looking at who's taking now so if commingle but if coming is there you would take mingo. Yeah and you are slowly convincing me to take book lay over a i mean i'm i'm honestly not even super high on book and i i just i.

"You know not this. Isn't this wouldn't be approving guy. But i think one interesting possibility out there and i would seriously consider it. If i'm the worst would be trading. The would-be trading both big seven fourteen packaging with wiseman and or pool To move up to like number. Three in the draft with cleveland and then try to get The number three pick Which hopefully you would take some jalen And then also like a solid rotation piece. Maybe you get. Larry nance or something like that. I would be down for that if on the warriors. I'm not sure cleveland with do that. They might get better offers for that three pick. But i do think that cleveland be would be open to moving off the three pixel only because they already have a very guard central roster in guard garland and sexton and whoever the best guys they could take at three would be guards. Jalen grandchildren suggs so the value for that pick two other teams is going to be much higher than it is to them so i think you know it would make sense for them to move in. I think the warriors could put together a package for that as a strong as strong of a package for that as as anyone. So you're by doing a deal like that you're you're ensuring that you don't have too many young guys on your roster because you're not using both picks you're you're also getting rid of a somewhat of a project young guy in in wiseman and then you're bringing in hopefully a helpful rotation player with proven experience. Someone like isla. Nancy what have you. And then you're getting a potential franchise cornerstone and jalen sagamore jalen green. I know i know the warriors are higher. Both of them so i think they'd be open daughter. Those guys at three. I think i mean jalen. Suggs is a little bit more ready to play major roles rookie but i think might have a little higher ceilings. So it kind of depends on what you're looking for but i think both would be good picks there what was what was the handles name tom tom bomb. Yeah i'm gonna take tom. One step further most of the conversations. We have right now and especially out of the combine where the warriors making a move for a big time player. A proven all star. Who comes with a huge salary so while they were shopping wise and pigs it always had to include andrew wiggins and almost none of the proposals that i heard were that much of an upgrade from andrew wiggins so why are you giving up all these assets even jakko like they is siaka better player the wiggins yeah a little bit probably but is it really worth giving wiggins and all these other pieces siaka right. Larvae wiggins is a good fit for your system. So i'll take tom's.

We feel that readers pressing questions gliding. One of kelly oubre feature rusty. Thank you so much for joining me. Back on the pod even during a pandemic felt like i was seeing you pretty often over zoom and hearing your voice. Because he was such a huge help on the warriors. Beat this past season But haven't seen you heard from you in a little bit. Because i know you you took a little time off. You're you're on that on a daily basis with the draymond green bead and the kirby What you know. We actually didn't get really any team. Usa questions we're doing a mailbag podcast. This week. got a bunch of great questions. But we didn't get any about team usa. And i i'm actually genuinely curious. Like what do you think dream on roles gonna be on this team say team. He didn't play a lot in rio. Is it going to be kind of a similar situation. It'd be interesting to see Coach popovich on the first day. Tuesday talked about three senators Draymond green bam out of bio and kevin love so. That's kind of the way they're going into All powerful words in the nba but centers in international who and It was the first day so he's trying to figure it out i. I wouldn't be surprised at all because of cream voice in defence if he's not the starting center for team usa but i also wouldn't be shocked if he plays seven minutes. A game provides voice from a sideline while kevin love and bam by your playing all the minutes. Neither one would shock me one day into it. I'm not even sure pop knows yet. Yeah i think that's definitely where he's going to be. The biggest asset is as a small ball center in given how the teams they face play. I think that makes a lot of sense Some made it sounds like maybe he will play a little bit more than he did You know. I think. I think he's proven this past year that he's still a high level player and can help out I think he's just one of those guys where a lot of it depends on the makeup of the roster. What you need you know. He's not like one of those guys that you have to have on the floor when you're talking about an all star laden rosser you know But if you need the facilitating a defensive toughness and those types of things. Obviously he's better than anyone so And they don't have like a legitimate center sort of be interesting to see like if they do play against yokich or rubio's i think of bama's a center but yeah you might be right. Yeah yeah probably more as so. They could go into that way where it's not even what they wanted. Matchup based till if bams are more prototypical legitimate center. Maybe he starts against ago. Bears and yoga world draymond starts. Kevin love popovich raised. Kevin love like he was completely in in back to being in his prime form yesterday. So who knows. I like i like not ever love and And then i saw your story today about you know maybe the words consignment on a vet minimum deal which is doing numbers by the way. So i think there's a lot of interesting. We actually got question about that. So we'll get to that.

"You put him in a room with any five star recruits. I mean you. And i have dealt with mike brown enough very charming very authentic. Just a really good dude. Yeah easy to work with and just immediately. There's an immediate charisma about him. So if you put them in a in a living room for ten minutes with a college recruit. Who may get fired within the next year and then he just sort of a sense to that job and then crushes it and then just takes over that job in perpetuity. Right because nate mcmillan's going to keep the hawks job. I can't imagine that want so that's not happening. We'll stay right. Steve kerr's as much job security as any coach in the league. I don't think that they would just hand the job over to mike brown right like you want to be in a position where the coaches fired midseason and then the natural thing to do is just promote the lead assistant. So maybe if. You're mike brown you go do that. I don't know our last question is from at shoddy hooper. What should golden state be looking for in the twenty twenty one nba draft barring trades. "What do you think. First of all i understand why stone into so many trade ideas it's warriors fans. You're going to get something eric pascoli. I've been hey if you if you take seven paschal. Can you move up at the top five. Know what is all about. What have you done for me lately. No one's no one's thinking about what he did as a rookie. Everyone's thinking about how he couldn't crack a middling rotation last season even after his rookie year paschal no-trade value even after being first team all nba. Like nobody that looked aircraft wing fifteen win warriors team and said. That's the guy that i want right in order for a trade to happen. Another team has to want that player. Typically that's what happens right. I mean that just like diminishment did rookie. Or or or whatever i just. I'm just saying he's not the kind of player that teams are like. I need that guy on my team. Right and so I don't think if passbook gets moved. It's going to be part of some sort of other larger package. Or maybe the warriors even add money to a deal just to clear a roster spots something crazy like that right it's not gonna be swapping paschal for a future draft pick or whatever it's not going to be like that must that it's like a highly protected future second or something. You mentioned all the things that are an issue with pascal's game with the warriors needed to see from him. This last year was that helps. I definitely to improve. The point of attack. Defense to approve is on the perimeter and at three point shot to come along. None of those things happen. I do think the air pascall could play a role like you said. End to the bench special specialization type of situation. Where i think he can kinda be this. Next year is like mo speights like let's not forget earlier in the season the warriors found success. having pasco play as a small ball center. Right lagos a cool change of pace lineup. now pass will the isn't able to play that position all year long every single night right. He just gets beaten down. He's not big enough and you saw his body breakdown at the end of the year. Well if he's not doing it every night but maybe doing it once a week. Where hey we need. We need to do something. We need to juice the offense or just don't have it this night tonight. Let's put paschal in there as a small ball. Five just a mix things up just to make things weird in the middle of the season. I think that's a a useful thing to have on your bench right like that's a. That's a cool option. If you're steve kerr you get to go to. I think that's probably his role if these going to have one going forward because you're right there's no more this is a make or break your for him but there's not really playing time for him to go out and work those issues. He said. two years to kind of work through that stuff those deficiencies. Now i think you know what he is. If it's an off night maybe steps not playing. He's he's resting injured. Whatever here's like. Hey we need to get some buckets for two minutes. We've been in our offense of drought. Let's just roll out a paschal at center lineup. Let them go ice. O with four shooters and just see what happens. Yeah that's probably what his role is. Yeah and look. This is not something that the warriors are like stressing over there not like the trade center headquarters..

"Small balkan work would dream on and siaka as you're five and your four but until you get to that i would have some questions defensively. Yeah i agree with everything. You're saying it'd be interesting to. I mean i guess it would be kind of a homecoming for andrew wiggins toronto I guess maybe that that would help. The warriors chances a little bit but It's definitely i think of all the names that we've we've heard. I think it's the most realistic In terms of an all star caliber player. But it's not it's not a it's not a home run necessarily for either team if it does happen so our first question. This is from at tom. Bomb thirty three five. Have you heard anything about golden state looking into potential trade for lillard. Since the news broke yesterday that he might want out of portland. We we've talked a little bit about this in the past. It came out yesterday. Report from chris. Hanes saint basically indicating. That lillard may want out of portland. Now some background here. I know chris hanes pretty well. He was on the warriors. Be with me for a couple of years He is as well connected with alert as anyone. So if he's reporting this. I'm one to believe that. Want to believe that he is getting this from lowered himself. And from lewis camp and that they gave the green light for christine's to write that which which comes across like lillard legitimately is unhappy and isn't necessarily at the point where he's asking for a tray but he wanted to be known that he is looking at his options potentially and so. I think that the next few weeks gave me riddick. Really critical for that situation on how. How develops i think a lot of. It's just gonna depend on the decisions portland megs how they handle the blowback from this chauncey billups higher. Which i don't think they weren't necessarily expecting This kind of blowback and what they're able to do in terms of putting together more of a contending caliber roster around lillard but if it does reach a breaking point lillard decides. He wants out of portland. How of a shot. Do you think the worst have. I think they have a very realistic shot. Because the other thing about this demon out of portland right. We saw the first part of the the superstar demanding trade playbook this weekend with with the leaked report to kris haines implying that he might be unhappy in portland and i agree with you. Chris is reporting it. In in terms of damian lillard. There's nobody closer on the league. Damian lillard i it probably from david personal france. Yeah so. This is sort of part one in the superstar playbook as far as demanding a trade is concerned the next part would be a of following part of this would be..

"I remember mentioning him as a potential trade Target because toronto is a bit of a crossroads here right. They are coming off that twenty nine thousand finals a couple of years ago. They don't have that. Kawhi leonard type of superstar anymore and on blossomed in that twenty nineteen run. But he's not. He's not talented enough to kind of be that type of player for you right. He's not going to be quite level. Kawhi leonard level type of guy who could build a championship around. He's a good supporting player. Right he's probably at best. You're third best player on championship team. Very good version of that. And so maybe. If you're toronto you would entertain moving him for a really high draft pick or something like that or a guy who you may be able to build around so i sort of fear is this idea and i i had no reporting behind it. I just kind of threw it out there. But hey if toronto wants to try to move up in this draft then with and this was before the draft lottery that i talked about this with the warriors take this minnesota pick and maybe andrew wiggins and move it for crm. Because if you're a toronto that puts you in a position. Possibly to take a franchise type of talent what strikes me as interesting is the timing of hollinger writing this because toronto actually has a better pick in the draft and the warriors do right. They're picking at number four. They could take another franchise guy. I think the idea behind it would be toronto and say. Hey we want a franchise guy but we also want guy at seven or maybe and we want wise men and now we could build around wiseman the fourth pick in the draft the seven pick in the draft and fred vans lead which i think is a pretty good core so i still think it has merit as far as an idea. I don't know if there's been any trade talks with andrea. This is sort of like a a bullet points column. So it's just a little bit of a blurb he doesn't go at length and what. What if anything is really happened here but to me the name at least make sense. If you're the warriors you'd have to include andrew wiggins i would imagine for salary magic purposes. Siaka makes thirty three million dollars next year. So if it's wise men and the seventh pick plus wiggins for salary. Then you're taking guess you're taking back seat dot com and.

And i gotta i gotta give west big shot up before we get into anything else. This guy is officially twitter. Verified longtime coming probably the most egregious oversight on twitter's part that i've ever seen not have verify this guy years ago. He's a traveling. Nba beat writer. One of the go-to sources of one of the biggest teams in sports and yet was not twitter verified. And so what this weekend. Yeah i woke up. Was it friday or yeah. I woke up friday morning. Friday morning was big for me because not only was. I verified on twitter but talented creators. new album also dropped that same morning. And i honestly couldn't tell you which one was more excited for but yeah man i've applied reapplied twitter like shut down their application process for a few years which i think was the big thing. They didn't make it easy man. They make it easy. And i'm glad that just finally have that. That stupid blue checkmark next to my name. Yeah i'm very happy for you to celebrate. Did you do anything. "In my in my review of moulder. I said that he's proven he's legitimate. Nba player to which. I got a ton of backlash on in email. Social media like people say idiot for saint. He's a legitimate nba player. I think it's fair to say he's a legitimate nba player. That doesn't mean he's a high level. Rotation player i just did they. He deserves a place in the nba on roster somewhere. That's all i was saying. You're absolutely right. He is an nba player and is proven that and every time. I think that he's not he does something else that i didn't know he could do I'm kind of in that camp. That probably would have sent you a mean email. Because i think he's just shooter and then next thing. I know these way more athletic and i bought rate. Athletes is amazing vertical. He's got huge hands good wings and it's safe to say yeah. He's an nba player. But if if that role is not one that's going to matter that much season because you made a bunch of get addition the offseason. I would rather take the flyer on jessica just to see what he can give you low stakes role. I also would be interested in. Maybe giving him just two way next year. I like that more. yeah You know. I think i think the two way could be well spent on someone like him. You know you could send them to santa cruz and see what he did down there if it's between him and nico on nico manion on the to next year. I'd probably rather have jessica just to see what he can provide but rusty thank you so much. Thank you so much to our listeners and readers who provided a bunch of great questions.
