Packed Black Friday sports schedule

"AP sports I'm Tom Miriam. On Black Friday, the NBA and NHL were as busy as the shopping malls. 14 NBA games and 13 on the ice were played the day after both leagues were off for Thanksgiving. The Celtics added to their league leading record by beating searching Sacramento as Jason Tatum scored 30 with help from the Boston bench. I think when we might have been down for the end of the half of ten, he knows because of those guys came in and just changed the momentum. The bucks kept pace by beating the Cavaliers thanks largely to a 35, ten third quarter in which Bobby port has played a key role. Felt good for us overall as a basketball team, because it felt like we was playing books, basketball, for a chance. Victories also for the Lakers heat suns, warriors, nuggets, grizzly sixers pacers, rockets, thunder hornets, and the trailblazers in overtime over the Knicks. NHL, the bruins became the first team to win its first 12 home games in the season, as they beat the hurricanes three to two in overtime on David pasternak's gold. Big win for us, obviously, and coming from behind, you know, after Thanksgiving, the game is never easy, so it's good with. The devil's after having their 13 game win streak snap bounced back with a three one win in Buffalo. Other winners, the capitals penguins islanders red wings, Maple Leafs Canadians kraken jets, senators kings and lightning, with Braden points scoring too early goals. I think both teams were into it right away. It was nice to get a couple goals for us early. Pretty good jump on the game. I thought it was a fun game. World Cup soccer, the United States finished in a scoreless tie with England as coach Greg berhalter's young team had the better scoring chances. Overall, pleased with the performance of the group, most importantly, the belief of the group, because that never wavered. The U.S. now must be to ran on Tuesday to advance to the knockout round. "Well, the U.S. soccer team may have tied England at the World Cup's match yesterday, but the game was actually a big win for the city of San Jose. World Cup watch parties that brought droves of people back to San Pedro square in a way that the city has not seen since the start of the pandemic. COVID hit San Jose's city center hard when shelter in place mandates took effect in March of 2020 with many businesses closing and foot traffic practically disappearing downtown sales tax revenue plummeted by almost 40% during the past year compared to the city average which dropped by only 1%. However, the World Cup could be turning things around and management at various eateries say that San Pedro square is typically empty on weekdays, but since the World Cup started, hundreds of soccer fans or football fans are flocking to restaurants and bars on the block. Case CBS News time 8 12, we will get you more on college football and a win that the warriors saw yesterday in sports and minutes. Black Friday

Lawyer Sentenced to 15 Months for Fireboming NYPD Car

"I think most of you are familiar with the very famous Asian Indian prostitute, Uruguay, actually no, she's not a prostitute. She's a lawyer. I don't know if that's. I don't know if it's a big difference. Uru drama is a public interest lawyer in New York. And if it seems like I'm defaming our well, it's very well deserved. Why? Because this is the woman, the activist who firebombed a police cruiser during the 2020 George Floyd riots. She's one of these so called social justice warriors. And she was arrested and she was facing ten years in prison, which seems appropriate if you try to fire bomb a police vehicle. But the Biden administration decided to start protecting her. And pushing a judge and this is U.S. district judge Brian kogan of the eastern district of New York liberal Democrat to give this woman a very light sentence and in fact he did. So here's what she gets 15 months in prison. Wow. This is outrageous. You got January 6th defendants nonviolent who've done nothing who have comparable or worse sentences in this, not to mention this woman was never in solitary confinement, in fact, left wing activists came forward and put up money for her to be bailed. So she was given the opportunity to have bail. Why? Because she was not deemed to be a danger to society in the way that, let's say, just say some mom or grandmother or some guy in January 6th, there's a danger to society. We got to lock him up right now and keep him locked up until trial. Why? Because he's an election denier. Now, this woman Uruguay drama and her accomplice a guy named Colin Ford Mathis. These are people who they've been getting these glowing media profiles. And now they evidently have this kind of sweetheart deal with the Biden DoJ and with a judge going along. So, I mean, justice is really about proportionality, the it's not just so you get punished, but the punishment should bear some resemblance, some proportion to the offense.

Former Rep. Mark Walker: Conservatives Need LEADERS

"Both have our disagreements on some of the things and decisions that Bader made, but you also have to have an understand this. And I think this is where Republicans would get a gross just because somebody says, I'm a conservative. Does it mean that they can lead in a moment when you have to be a warrior and make tough decisions? That's a different skill set altogether. And I think as we look to see who we're electing for the federal, the state of the local levers, levels, we need to find people who have a background of being able to lead, not just some Johnny come lately who pops up that realizes the first adversity and then they crumble and you wonder what happened there. Find people who've served, find people who've led to me those are the people that can take on the test, whatever it is, federal state or local.

Rep. Jim Jordan: Accountability Is Coming

"Congressman Jim Jordan, the fiery feisty warrior from Ohio. Who is whip smart he's like a dog with a bone and moments ago on Capitol Hill, here was congressman Jim Jordan, part of the newly Republican controlled House of Representatives oversight saying there's going to be an accountability coming because a new sheriff in town. We're going to try to help represent comer and the team here at oversight with our work on judiciary, but with a specific focus on what the FBI was doing. When we know these 51 former Intel officials, they got security clearance. How often are they talking to the FBI? Are they talking to the FBI? Who's doing the talk? And who's doing the briefing? Were they brief, there's so many questions that need answers so we can get to the bottom of this. And the final thing I would say is this. A colleague of mine said this in a committee hearing a few weeks ago. Mister Gates, he said, what is the FBI going to quit interfering with elections? 2016, they spied on president Trump's campaign 2018. It was the Mueller investigation 2020. They suppressed information about the Hunter Biden story 2022. They're rated the president's home 91 days before an election. Maybe it'd be nice if the FBI the Justice Department just stayed out of it, let me the people decide who we think should represent us who we think should lead us. That's supposed to be how America works. So this is the focus on the judiciary committee, the political nature of the Justice Department, and the linkage now to what was happening with the Hunter Biden story. Again, just 15 days before we have presidential election.

"Cash Patel. What a perfect guest. Welcome back to America first, my friend. Savage is so great to be with you and I couldn't think of a better show to be doing right now on this Wednesday morning. Well, Wednesday morning. Is it Wednesday morning? It's afternoon. It may feel like morning to you. I know you're out west. I'm in the west. You're out west. So this is a perfect perfect segue. My gosh, we rehearsed this so much. Can you tell? Why weren't you with us at Mar-a-Lago eating the coconut shrimp and they little dogs in blankets with president Trump? Because you were a man on a mission. Where were you last night, cash? That was the plan. I was supposed to be there and I was with the president in Ohio for the last rally. And then being a Nevada and being having hammered out west out here for Arizona, Nevada. I got sent out here to be with Adam laxalt to bring this thing home on the frontier. And it looks like we're going to do that because I have campaigned for Adam as if so many of you guys, and I've said from the beginning, Adam will be the 51st senator for the United States Senate, this campaign cycle. And Adam is on the verge of victory, and there was no way we were going to let that one slip through our hands so we're helping him. We're helping carry next door, ahamada is looking great. I'm looking great. Lombardo's going to win the gubernatorial race. We're going to flip Nevada red. People need to understand how important that is. It was a blue state. It is about to become a red state again. All right, so I'm really excited and God bless you for actually being out in the fight instead of hanging out with us losers who are just celebrating celebrating. I felt so guilty this morning because I posted a tweet of my wife and I a picture of us and I said this is my warrior queen because yesterday morning she got up at 3 a.m. and came home at 9 45 p.m. because she was a senior election official doing her part to try and make sure that we have clean and fair and transparent elections. And I was having cigars at Mar-a-Lago. All right, so thank you for what you did yesterday. Thank you for what you've been doing for the last 20, 25 years, because you are one of the true fighters.

Good Commanders and Bad Commanders

"I began Bebe my story immediately after finishing Tom cotton's book, only the strong. And senator cotton, it like you, led men in combat. I'm beginning to wonder whether or not that is crucial for countries to put leaders into position who've actually had shots fired at them and have had to kill enemies of the state. What difference does that make in leading a country to go from being the dispatch to being the dispatcher? Well, it's a world of difference because when you're in a special unit, you know your handkerchief to go to take on any mission you think you're you think you're a band of Superman. And in many ways, you are, but you're not. Because the difference between success and tragedy is could be a few centimeters. And it was in the case where the oni was died. And yet you have that eagerness to carry out these lifesaving missions as do your men. But for me, the difference was that I had seen the loss of a loved one, not only my brother, but when I was 18, shortly after I got into the special unit, close friend of mine actually died in my arm. Died on the way to a hospital and, you know, 30 years later, I came to visit his home. I never got to visit his home in the city of Beersheba. And his mother opened the door for me. And she showed me his room. My friend groom, she left it exactly as it was 30 years earlier. So I always thought when I dispatched men into combat, when I made that decision, I always thought of my mother and his mother and the mothers of Israel. And I remembered what my brother told me. When I went to officer school, you said to be and he had been an experienced commander he had been a veteran of many battles. Unbelievable. I would say poet warrior, philosopher, but he said to me, you know, the difference between a good commander and a bad commander is that that commander sponge is the life of his men. And the good commander accomplishes the mission, the minimum or no casualty. And I always thought of that that the life of the soldiers is so precious.

The Vietnam War and the Legacy Media

"Some books have an interesting confluence of events around them when they come on to my radio show. When I was reading, I finished that outlined only the strong was the first time I had met on the radio hang khao. And Han kal came in the United States as a refugee from Vietnam. He was a captain in the navy special forces warrior, amazing American. He received the camp Pendleton in an operation that my brother in law then a captain back from his second tour in Vietnam was partially involved in and my brother in law was at the house when I was talking to Han cow and we talked about that operation. The people who fought Vietnam are still here. They're still with us in large numbers, and they're still proud of their service. But the folks who ran away from it and who have devoted their lives to denying what we were about are still here too. And they're deeply embedded in the media senator. I am curious about the media's reaction to only the strong because you're hitting right at the heart of the people who run legacy media. It is the Vietnam generation and the people that they hired. Yeah, I mean, here today, the most of the legacy media is just a press adjunct of the Democratic Party and the progressive movement in America. Is that right not only the strong, the media had essentially declared war in the home front. You had Walter Cronkite, for instance, saying that Ted offensive had been a major disaster when, in effect, our troops in Vietnam had essentially destroyed the vietcong on a gorillas in South Vietnam as a fighting force. He had The New York Times consistently leaking and trying to undermine the war effort leader of the salzburger family at the time who owns The New York Times. Saying he didn't know what America had to offer. The Vietnamese that was any better than the communists.

Andrew Klavan Describes What It Means to Be a Man

"Does it mean to be a man? We had general boykin on who's written books about it, who gave us this 6 part answer. It's a pastor. It's a leader. It's a battle buddy, very system. Delta force founder you would expect him to do very systematic. What is it to a man who's written amazing heroes in your novels? What is it to be a man? I always think that the main two things are integrity and courage and you really can't have one without the other with courage without integrity means just an amoral virtue. Your evil people can have courage. But with integrity, what I mean by integrity is that you are who you say you are and you'll do what you say you will do. Your word matters. Your word is connected to reality. Your appearance is connected to reality, you're not a fake, your life makes sense. You are responsible to making sense. And the reason I use those words to is because of course, you know, we love these men who go out and fight battles and defend us in the movies manhood is always demonstrated through action guys warriors and people like that. But you know, if you look at, say, a play like David Mamet's glengarry Glenn Ross. The biggest man in that is not the guy who boast is not the guy who talks about manhood. It's the guy who quietly refuses to be corrupt. He does it almost in the background of the play. A beautiful play, and he does it almost in the background. It's the guy who just stands fast and so many people have to do this in ways that we don't celebrate. The father who makes a living, even though it means giving up his dreams, the husband who sticks with a tough marriage because he knows his kids need them. These things happen every day all the time and they are the essence of manhood and they're the thing that you don't make a movie about because it's not exciting and it doesn't have things blowing up. But it matters and these guys like the navy seals are examples of that that we can hold on to and keep in front of us as ideals, but some of those principles can be applied all of those principles can be applied to sometimes the smallest thing that matters tremendously.

"Didn't get it done. They did not get to cowburn guy wanted to beginning and did they do the best. They could with the minimum. Yeah i think they did. Did they get experience along the way which was probably their number one party yes they did but another huge priority that was stated publicly by myers was a legit backup. Point guard didn't do that. She owes campell here and there but he's not that and so it's a disappointment. And so i think in look. The biggest edition was out of puerto junior. And there's no guarantee he's going to be out. I mean i know there. He looks healthy. Says he feels good but the type of back injury that he was ill with that stuff could flare up ongoing and it's bothering him for two years. Now yeah like. There is no guarantee that he'll be available for the majority of mexican. He's out the most most next season. How is this freezing. Look it's gonna look like a train wreck so given to be minus. I think that's fair. I was gonna say seed plus but if you wanna talk me into minus okay with that for all the reasons. i know. The names were sexy. No otto porter used to be basically a max guy. I know that bill has been a guy that orders fans have been aware of for very long time. Dodge thing kind of saves the offseason just from a feel-good perspective warriors. Fans can't hate this. That's part of why. But when you talk about okay did they go out and get a legit six man can count on every night and did you go out and get a legit backup point guard even on every night. I don't think that they did that. I think they actually kinda missed. Not just one spot but to so to recap. We gave the draft name. Honors trades aka trade of the and free. Agency of b minus. I think overall we're giving we're going to get be the offseason. That almost feels like too good. Or i feel like we should give it. A b minus. Okay may maybe we should just revise and give free agency plastic you relating to four when you make the rules give us. Yeah we're gonna give this. Plus i'm trying to make it make sense And then we'll We'll give the overall grade a. B. modest look. It was okay. Hey offseason but it didn't accomplish the top objectives which was to get a key difference maker and to make sure that you have a true six man that didn't happen so you cannot given a b. minus extra generous B minus bob. You detri- but it didn't work out. It's just to go. yeah. And i don't even know how much is on the front office. I just think that sometimes it's a circumstance like this is a very different. Nba now with the warriors are sort of learning how hard this stuff is like. This wasn't like everything together. Perfectly like it did for four..

"Idea had seen him hp specter extra sixty a more thoughtful laptop. The kelly oubre aham situation played out. He got a decent amount of money but a lot. It's only a two year deal. They wanted more years. I don't think the second year in the second year is not fully guaranteed and so there's a certain port where okay break got humble real quick and was like look. I'll take some money. We and he has like one of those weird. Nfl contracts now where it's like thirteen million dollars with thirty million dollar player. What twelve and a half million dollar player but only like two million of his or something. That's only partially guaranteed so the nfl contract. You can look at it more big picture and say you know. They paid eighty million dollars with luxury tax for this guy. He wasn't super helpful last season. Then you could potentially traded him at the deadline you didn't and then you're getting nothing for him you can. You can argue that the warriors mishandled him. I don't think they had a ton of options. I think that this is just a series of unfortunate events in some in some cases like they did the best. The kid in a crappy situation after cleveland down to get someone who could be helpful. They did what they had to do to get him. And then minor standings at the trade deadline they just really did not have any compelling offers at all it's less of a series of fortunate events. They could have moved him the deadline and they should have and we said that back then. It was just very obvious that there was not going to be a long term future for kelly oubre. The writing was very much on the wall. I don't know if it was a situation where you didn't want to put yourself in a situation where you had to pay somebody else. Long-term they might have been looking forward to getting off that filton million dollar salary and based on all of the financial stuff we were talking about. That certainly was a player like they could have been like. Hey what's not trade for anybody but then again. It just felt like a wasted opportunity. But i'll say this they were never planning on using that trade exception that they used to acquire in the first place. If clayton not gotten hurt they were just going to let that expire and so. I just don't think that. I think it was just very much. A convenience of marriage ownership didn't want to pay that kind of salary caps lottery said. Hey if you don't if you let them walk nothing you lose a salary cap slot and i think the warriors were just very okay with that happening and fans understandably. We're not okay with that happening. Right you've treated andre with allah patron saint of warriors hood right for this fifty million dollar exception in order to facilitate scientific that got the ngelo russell. Here that andrew wiggins gianluca mingo. But you traded andrew andre dollar and you're just gonna let this thing expire and now we don't have it all i could see as a warriors fan frustrated by that but that was always going to happen but so you look at who..

"You sort of like the face of the franchise for a little bit. Which was weird. We wrote a lot about him. And but part of our life happened. But you know i think it was just. It was time for it to be done. I think he's a guy who could be in the nba for awhile. I just don't think that it was the right fit for the warriors long-term and utah. They've done a lot of good work with tween ford's like pascal right like they have taught a lot of guys like password how to shoot through. So if you can't do it then. I don't really know what its future is but i think it's as good of a landing spot as any paskal And then obviously. Reuniting without mitchell is nice their childhood friends so as far as like how you grade. That actually would give that. I'd probably fall at a be all great this one give him a b. They didn't really get now set back to kind of put. They kind of painted themselves into a corner. Thousand move that you could telegraphed happening way earlier. In the fact that they had no leverage in that trade discussion with utah. Because you knew that they needed to the roster spot. They knew they didn't want to move offer. Moulder or namely or gary payton guys. Who like actually have potentially have a play unlike paschal. They didn't want to move off of any of those guys. Despite those guys being a non guaranteed deals pascal's deal with full guaranteed if they waved on they. Were just gonna eat that money. The jazz from office knew that that was the case. They're not stupid and they basically traded him a fake. Second rounder in. We're to help the warriors save my and they got a decent player pascal. Great like he's a decent player. he's really injured. He was injured at the end of last year waiting for a long time. But he's a good player. So i just thought that if the words would have thought ahead a little bit more and look it's not the end of the world but if they would have thought i had a little bit more they probably could have gotten a legit asset back in return farouq possible before they went out and filled out there. Austrian free agency that this is a deal could have done something similar to this earlier in the free agency right now this season i mean it's pretty clear midway through season i he was not gonna fit. He's he's good at one thing and that one thing is not what the wanna do. He's an isos score. And he can't rebound can't pass. He can't he's not around player and he says the word he's horrible helps defender so so free agency just to recap real quick on the worst went out and got out of puerto junior namaacha be andrea dolla. Christiane porter billy and it would all that minimums she is signing a two way contract with the warriors it's looking like the words are not going to use their five point. Nine million dollars tax player taxpayer mid level exception..

"I didn't know how to dribble the basketball like what happened. He was never going to spend time the g. league. You're just not gonna do that. Some of the big. I know that stuff was out there before the draft. He's gonna be there. Julie trafton stat stash guy. No way dude like you go up. The number pick isn't good enough yet for the nba and isn't gonna sell tickets at center and it's going to sell tickets at that like airline hanger that is the cruz arena knocking. Sankara's love them. But that was just never going to happen. I don't even know why that was the thing. Yeah you're right. But i do think he has shown that all the prognostications about his upside are founded that he has as much factor potential as anyone had speculated. Yeah i think he's been nothing but exciting. Yes there's things to clean up. Yes he has to figure out how to play certain aspects of basketball. He's learned how to pass. That's the basil learn how to pass any means to learn how to play off the ball. But i feel like the warriors should feel really good about taking him number seven right now so if what they wanted was a guy with a ton of upside and was is a physical freak and plays a position in need then they got that and that's what they wanted and so i'm gonna give the draft at this point based on what we know right now and a minus the only reason i'm not giving it a full a is because in an ideal world they would have probably h traded one or both of those picks for proven player but Given the fact that they kept both picks. I think they did the best hits. I'm gonna give them the name minus. Does i have two hundred. I don't really want to okay. So this is my pod. I'll just provide an awesome way too soon to give him a great okay. Well i'm going to give away. That's why you're in content creation. Yeah i mean. Has that ever stopped us before. I don't think it's i know but unfortunately territorial given fm so traits there was so much speculation that people entering the offseason. There's so much speculation in offseason about the overall circumference player. Like how are they gonna bradley. Beal ben simmons Democratise about as paul george. Like every name out. "What grade do the warriors get west. Thank you so much for joining me back on. The podcast works year in las vegas for summer league at. I'm not gonna say the name of the hotel. But it is one of the not as nice hotels on the las vegas strip We're trying to be nice to the company not not trying to go over that per diem too much. So but we're we're high up overlooking the beautiful last vegas strip and the pools and all the the lavishness that is las vegas and we're talking about suddenly and we're really That have been down there. Which just feels like a like a metaphor for our lives and sort of wave it starts off. Strong is just like you know yeah. There's a lot of crazy stuff happening around us. But we're allowed in on basketball and providing content to the masses. You guys being part of those wonderful masses. And i wanted to use today's podcast to basically evaluate the offseason because i think that the warriors are done making any significant moves. Any news of note moves of you know. I think they're going to end up. Not using their mid-level exception. I think that if you look at the roster right now it's pretty full and you know everything's pretty much intact. So i think. I think were pretty free to start breaking down at the overall off-season in essentially give it a great And so what i wanna do on this podcast is i want to go through. Aussies step-by-step the draft trades and free agency because those are the big ways to add talent and and break down each of those individually. And then at the end of this. We're gonna provide an overall grade on the offseason and talk about whether or not they're legitimate contenders. Because that was the ultimate goal internacional was too well position yourself to the bona fide title contenders internet season. So has bob myers achieved that objective. We will discuss So the first the first big thing was the draft right and it's been a crazy few weeks because we had the draft and summer league and they're paschal trade and free agency all simultaneously or back to back and so the draft. Obviously they ended up holding onto to both lottery. Picks taking jonah number seven taking moses moody number fourteen. We've talked about it on the podcast recently..

"I think that would work like we. Markey's chris do that a couple of years ago those handoffs. I think he fits that role. He's a good playmaker arches. One point eight assists over his career. Not only is gonna space the floor as shooter but if he can kind of bring back some that zaazaa petrolia david west andrew. Bogut stuff as far as a guy who can get into the high post for you make the right pass. Split action and honestly. I think that's my favorite thing about his game in terms of how this with the war system the warriors have really. They've really missed guys like david. Watson's is a pachulia guys who can post on the low block in just with one hand kick out to an open shooter and read. Read the defense really quickly. Make a snap decision that should not be underestimated in the water system. The worst systems really bit built around that. There's a reason why. Andrew bogut was so prized in their system There's a reason why they haven't had a twenty and ten center and they've leaned more on these guys because the way their system was built they need the center to be kind of an offensive fulcrum. And i think that be elite. Chea can provide that and yes. He's not super athletic. But neither was truly. And you can. You can hate Pachulia want but he played a role on those teams and he was a hopeful player and is because he was smart player who read defenses. Who who who could pass the ball and be at least you can can shoot the ball to which would zaza zaza could not do so It's i think i think it's a good signing. I'm not sure how big is role will be. I do feel like as long as puerto healthy that he'll be a legitimate top a rotation guy he should be. He has the talent. He's only twenty eight like people forget. he he should be the hardest prime right now I think his best years behind him. Because of the injury issues in the lack of explosiveness. But i think he can be a real solid role player and look. This is a guy who at his court is a role player. He just was such a good role player that he ended up at one point. Getting amax contract yeah. He's he's signed that. Max when you know there was that summer of two thousand sixteen and then that following year they're alive. We're making a lot of money back. Then emplo georgia's was a big deal. Everybody's looking for wind tunnel money. They gave him a crazy offer. Sheet that three wing right. The paul george is quiet. Leonard's and everybody's picking the draft like you should have all the tools does right look good. Shooter defends multiple physicians. All these things Injuries obviously robbed him of that. Kind of versatility defensively i. I don't see him defending guys at the point of attack. I think he's gonna defend mostly reason fours but we'll see right. He's got the strength. There is the physical profile. Is there for him. To be like the wiggins backup and and guard apex predator wings. Lebron kawai pg and things like that so look again at the minimum. It looks like a home run. But he's got to play for you. My only question is otto porter. That's good building..

"They're gonna have a long career in the nba giving solid minutes to any team just because they love the game of basketball that much and they know what it's about they're not just here to get their money and call it a day. You know three years. I completely understand everything you're saying. And i completely understand the argument for mitchell but i have some reservations about him just as a top ten pick. I mean when you're talking about a top pick. I think you want someone who at least has a chance to be a stud down the line to be like a an all star caliber guy or at least close to it. And the track record for players in mitchell's mold as lottery is not great. I mean when you when you talk about guys who twenty two years old who You know don't have great measurable He's he was underwhelming in terms of his height and his wingspan at the combine Those guys just don't have a great track record historically like could do. I think he's going to be a really solid rotation player for a long time yet. But i think there's a lot of guys in this draft are going to be really solid rotation players for a long time. And i want to take him at seven. I'm not sure i do. That's just my feeling. I mean what you're saying exactly about very things that you're saying right now about mitchell is exactly what everyone was saying about dozen bain. Last year he was five. He was fucking his rookie year. Yes and city arguably to second best player last season which might say more about detroit. The bay but Yeah no i completely understand. And i've i've talked to my friend in fellow be writer on on my pot about this before and his argument was look. Do the warriors need like a future star at this pick. Not really i mean they. They need someone who's going to help him right away. They wanna maximize the steph curry window. And i think. I understand the argument of just like look. We're just gonna take him a seven. Hope he's like kind of a maybe a better version on par with someone leg. Marcus smart and and go from there and and not worry about the future accolades And just hope that he can help maximize window. I completely understand that. The process and I think it's very plausible. There's no way he's available at fourteen right. There's no way. I don't think so. No now looking at who's taking now so if commingle but if coming is there you would take mingo. Yeah and you are slowly convincing me to take book lay over a i mean i'm i'm honestly not even super high on book and i i just i.

"You know not this. Isn't this wouldn't be approving guy. But i think one interesting possibility out there and i would seriously consider it. If i'm the worst would be trading. The would-be trading both big seven fourteen packaging with wiseman and or pool To move up to like number. Three in the draft with cleveland and then try to get The number three pick Which hopefully you would take some jalen And then also like a solid rotation piece. Maybe you get. Larry nance or something like that. I would be down for that if on the warriors. I'm not sure cleveland with do that. They might get better offers for that three pick. But i do think that cleveland be would be open to moving off the three pixel only because they already have a very guard central roster in guard garland and sexton and whoever the best guys they could take at three would be guards. Jalen grandchildren suggs so the value for that pick two other teams is going to be much higher than it is to them so i think you know it would make sense for them to move in. I think the warriors could put together a package for that as a strong as strong of a package for that as as anyone. So you're by doing a deal like that you're you're ensuring that you don't have too many young guys on your roster because you're not using both picks you're you're also getting rid of a somewhat of a project young guy in in wiseman and then you're bringing in hopefully a helpful rotation player with proven experience. Someone like isla. Nancy what have you. And then you're getting a potential franchise cornerstone and jalen sagamore jalen green. I know i know the warriors are higher. Both of them so i think they'd be open daughter. Those guys at three. I think i mean jalen. Suggs is a little bit more ready to play major roles rookie but i think might have a little higher ceilings. So it kind of depends on what you're looking for but i think both would be good picks there what was what was the handles name tom tom bomb. Yeah i'm gonna take tom. One step further most of the conversations. We have right now and especially out of the combine where the warriors making a move for a big time player. A proven all star. Who comes with a huge salary so while they were shopping wise and pigs it always had to include andrew wiggins and almost none of the proposals that i heard were that much of an upgrade from andrew wiggins so why are you giving up all these assets even jakko like they is siaka better player the wiggins yeah a little bit probably but is it really worth giving wiggins and all these other pieces siaka right. Larvae wiggins is a good fit for your system. So i'll take tom's.

"I'm your host connor with turnout. The damn trump at chronicle sports writer rusty simmons who has been a big help to me on the warriors beat during our conversation. We feel that readers pressing questions gliding. One of kelly oubre feature rusty. Thank you so much for joining me. Back on the pod even during a pandemic felt like i was seeing you pretty often over zoom and hearing your voice. Because he was such a huge help on the warriors. Beat this past season But haven't seen you heard from you in a little bit. Because i know you you took a little time off. I was knee-deep the with a big minor league baseball series But you're you're back at it. And i know you're going to be the go to guy for team. Usa coverage of the chronicle. You're you're on that on a daily basis with the draymond green bead and the kirby What you know. We actually didn't get really any team. Usa questions we're doing a mailbag podcast. This week. got a bunch of great questions. But we didn't get any about team usa. And i i'm actually genuinely curious. Like what do you think dream on roles gonna be on this team say team. He didn't play a lot in rio. Is it going to be kind of a similar situation. It'd be interesting to see Coach popovich on the first day. Tuesday talked about three senators Draymond green bam out of bio and kevin love so. That's kind of the way they're going into All powerful words in the nba but centers in international who and It was the first day so he's trying to figure it out i. I wouldn't be surprised at all because of cream voice in defence if he's not the starting center for team usa but i also wouldn't be shocked if he plays seven minutes. A game provides voice from a sideline while kevin love and bam by your playing all the minutes. Neither one would shock me one day into it. I'm not even sure pop knows yet. Yeah i think that's definitely where he's going to be. The biggest asset is as a small ball center in given how the teams they face play. I think that makes a lot of sense Some made it sounds like maybe he will play a little bit more than he did You know. I think. I think he's proven this past year that he's still a high level player and can help out I think he's just one of those guys where a lot of it depends on the makeup of the roster. What you need you know. He's not like one of those guys that you have to have on the floor when you're talking about an all star laden rosser you know But if you need the facilitating a defensive toughness and those types of things. Obviously he's better than anyone so And they don't have like a legitimate center sort of be interesting to see like if they do play against yokich or rubio's i think of bama's a center but yeah you might be right. Yeah yeah probably more as so. They could go into that way where it's not even what they wanted. Matchup based till if bams are more prototypical legitimate center. Maybe he starts against ago. Bears and yoga world draymond starts. Kevin love popovich raised. Kevin love like he was completely in in back to being in his prime form yesterday. So who knows. I like i like not ever love and And then i saw your story today about you know maybe the words consignment on a vet minimum deal which is doing numbers by the way. So i think there's a lot of interesting. We actually got question about that. So we'll get to that.

"You put him in a room with any five star recruits. I mean you. And i have dealt with mike brown enough very charming very authentic. Just a really good dude. Yeah easy to work with and just immediately. There's an immediate charisma about him. So if you put them in a in a living room for ten minutes with a college recruit. He's using at the college recruit to fall in love with them. Because of the things you said. I coached stuff. I coached the brown and know what it takes to get to the nba finals with a generational talent like that and then he would win over every parent. I mean he's. He's got that kind of vibe about him. The one thing i would say is he does have unfortunately he sort of that. Nba retread. that's not in. That's probably why he's not being mentioned as far as these head. Coaching and opportunities is concerned. I almost wonder if he should if you wanted to really be an nba head coach again. Should he kinda go. The nate mcmillan route and kind of go find a lead assistant job for an unproven coach. Who may get fired within the next year and then he just sort of a sense to that job and then crushes it and then just takes over that job in perpetuity. Right because nate mcmillan's going to keep the hawks job. I can't imagine that want so that's not happening. We'll stay right. Steve kerr's as much job security as any coach in the league. St i at least finish out his contract which i think is right on and it and if he and if he leaves. I don't think that they would just hand the job over to mike brown right like you want to be in a position where the coaches fired midseason and then the natural thing to do is just promote the lead assistant. So maybe if. You're mike brown you go do that. I don't know our last question is from at shoddy hooper. What should golden state be looking for in the twenty twenty one nba draft barring trades. Are they looking only for nba. Ready guys the purely best players available or a mix of both. I'm gonna let you take the lead on this one. So what should they do. In what will they do are two different questions with. Maybe.

Maybe.

"Small balkan work would dream on and siaka as you're five and your four but until you get to that i would have some questions defensively. Yeah i agree with everything. You're saying it'd be interesting to. I mean i guess it would be kind of a homecoming for andrew wiggins toronto I guess maybe that that would help. The warriors chances a little bit but It's definitely i think of all the names that we've we've heard. I think it's the most realistic In terms of an all star caliber player. But it's not it's not a it's not a home run necessarily for either team if it does happen so our first question. This is from at tom. Bomb thirty three five. Have you heard anything about golden state looking into potential trade for lillard. Since the news broke yesterday that he might want out of portland. We we've talked a little bit about this in the past. It came out yesterday. Report from chris. Hanes saint basically indicating. That lillard may want out of portland. Now some background here. I know chris hanes pretty well. He was on the warriors. Be with me for a couple of years He is as well connected with alert as anyone. So if he's reporting this. I'm one to believe that. Want to believe that he is getting this from lowered himself. And from lewis camp and that they gave the green light for christine's to write that which which comes across like lillard legitimately is unhappy and isn't necessarily at the point where he's asking for a tray but he wanted to be known that he is looking at his options potentially and so. I think that the next few weeks gave me riddick. Really critical for that situation on how. How develops i think a lot of. It's just gonna depend on the decisions portland megs how they handle the blowback from this chauncey billups higher. Which i don't think they weren't necessarily expecting This kind of blowback and what they're able to do in terms of putting together more of a contending caliber roster around lillard but if it does reach a breaking point lillard decides. He wants out of portland. How of a shot. Do you think the worst have. I think they have a very realistic shot. Because the other thing about this demon out of portland right. We saw the first part of the the superstar demanding trade playbook this weekend with with the leaked report to kris haines implying that he might be unhappy in portland and i agree with you. Chris is reporting it. In in terms of damian lillard. There's nobody closer on the league. Damian lillard i it probably from david personal france. Yeah so. This is sort of part one in the superstar playbook as far as demanding a trade is concerned the next part would be a of following part of this would be..

"I remember mentioning him as a potential trade Target because toronto is a bit of a crossroads here right. They are coming off that twenty nine thousand finals a couple of years ago. They don't have that. Kawhi leonard type of superstar anymore and on blossomed in that twenty nineteen run. But he's not. He's not talented enough to kind of be that type of player for you right. He's not going to be quite level. Kawhi leonard level type of guy who could build a championship around. He's a good supporting player. Right he's probably at best. You're third best player on championship team. Very good version of that. And so maybe. If you're toronto you would entertain moving him for a really high draft pick or something like that or a guy who you may be able to build around so i sort of fear is this idea and i i had no reporting behind it. I just kind of threw it out there. But hey if toronto wants to try to move up in this draft then with and this was before the draft lottery that i talked about this with the warriors take this minnesota pick and maybe andrew wiggins and move it for crm. Because if you're a toronto that puts you in a position. Possibly to take a franchise type of talent what strikes me as interesting is the timing of hollinger writing this because toronto actually has a better pick in the draft and the warriors do right. They're picking at number four. They could take another franchise guy. I think the idea behind it would be toronto and say. Hey we want a franchise guy but we also want guy at seven or maybe and we want wise men and now we could build around wiseman the fourth pick in the draft the seven pick in the draft and fred vans lead which i think is a pretty good core so i still think it has merit as far as an idea. I don't know if there's been any trade talks with andrea. This is sort of like a a bullet points column. So it's just a little bit of a blurb he doesn't go at length and what. What if anything is really happened here but to me the name at least make sense. If you're the warriors you'd have to include andrew wiggins i would imagine for salary magic purposes. Siaka makes thirty three million dollars next year. So if it's wise men and the seventh pick plus wiggins for salary. Then you're taking guess you're taking back seat dot com and.

Verified longtime coming probably the most egregious oversight on twitter's part that i've ever seen not have verify this guy years ago. He's a traveling. Nba beat writer. One of the go-to sources of one of the biggest teams in sports and yet was not twitter verified. And so what this weekend. Yeah i woke up. Was it friday or yeah. I woke up friday morning. "How screwed are they Well it would be good Because as we've talked about before they they don't really have any other pass to add a player of that caliber And honestly when i look get what's available in their potential options. This offseason with uber. I can't help but feel like they missed an opportunity at the deadline They decided not to trade him My understanding is it was. It wasn't a lack of willingness. They actually wanted to trade him but they didn't like any of the offers the guy and from what i heard the best The best offer they got was spencer. Did what he straight up for uber. At this point given what we know given the situation i would do that. Trick like spencer. Didn't we has a player option for next season. So it's not even a guarantee he would like he would actually play for your next season and he had acl this year. He wasn't playing for you. This is so that's why they didn't do it because they were like. We can be getting back a guy that we don't even know ever gonna play for us what i think. The warriors should have taken swinging and gambled on it Leaving that their culture and their fit would went out and they could talk him into coming back next season Healthy and spencer dinwiddie a healthy spitzer dinner. He's very good player. He's a winning blair. Which i'm not which i do not think. That uber is You know spencer. Dinwiddie when he's healthy could slide into that sixth man role. It'd be very good. Sixth man for a winning team and I think he fills some needs for this team. as a secondary playmaker That kinda guy in so. I actually when i heard when i learned that they Turn that down. I understood the reasoning. But i also like you need to think a little bit more picture big picture. I think their thought process was. He can't help wanna get someone who can help us win. The season and that we can guarantee is going to be on the team next season. Well spencer dinwiddie as a player when he's healthy is better than any other player. You're going to get uber. And honestly this season now. This past season didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. You didn't make the playoffs anyway. So i think that ms opportunity and i think right now your best case narrow probably is trying to parlay bray into a into a traded player exception. A big one but a lot of things need to happen for that to happen. I think it's more likely that he just signed someone else. I mean because he wants to star. And i think i think the knicks maybe make sense i think he i think he'd make more sense as making a lot of money on a bad team Team that's not really well run. Pay him a lot of money. I don't think he's a great player. I don't think he's a winning player. He's but he's had a negative was minus his entire career. They were so much worse this season when he was on the floor Yeah he puts up numbers but like he's not even that efficient shooting like i think he's overrated defensively. I don't love him as a player and you know. I think there's a lot of front offices out there who aren't super bowl rod. Who probably give him money. That's the summer that was..

uber this year knicks sixth man spencer Sixth man Dinwiddie lot of money
