Kyrie Katie, I could care every warriors fan is watching. I could care less every 40 status. That's funny is for years I've been saying to wake me up on Christmas, the MBA. "I'd preferred for them to go after. Maybe like a austin rivers type. I actually know rivers for me. I i take wanamaker. I mean we were more obviously. But it's kind of a weird cat. I i like that any close to family. But i i'm talking about backups. Guy really matters every everything. I've heard about wanamaker's really positive. He's genuine kambli guy. It bid there does pretty well as more is interesting You know he. He's a guy who is a much better player than he was last time years with the warriors last time years with the warriors need really just a defensive oriented guy she's wearing yeah yeah But arrived is shooting form Emerges a really really essential role guy for for some really good atlanta teams. A few years back Since then it's been a little up and down. He was not berg last season with portland but he was traded mid season to to the kings and extra super well for them so obviously the warriors are hoping to get the king's version of biz. Moore's oppose the portland version. But i think it will help him that he's playing alongside one of his closest friends in life absolutely at curry and already knows the words are about that goes along. Yeah i i thought that was. That was a heck of a move. I mean. He does a lot of. Thanks for coming off the bench He's the definition of that. Sort of guy. He's gonna play tough defense for insurance perks. He's gonna get a breakaway. Doc that's gonna excite everybody high-energy guy Scoring could be a little hit. Miss but i i think he just needs to bring its personality and its flair and his and his desire again. We talked about this. It's kind of a crucial all elements of rain in the mix. And and like you say most of all. He's he's really stuck to be here. Yeah yeah he saw stephan base timing after the news broke. And you know you know this is something. They've been hoping for for a long time because you've covered the nba long enough to understand that Nba friendship is different than normal. Like everyday friendship like it. The way i describe it to people is any co worker situation. You know you have your co workers in may you get along with them and you respect them and everything's cool but you're not like necessarily going out and grabbing a beer with them are are. Actually you know calling them christmas and that kind of thing whereas you do notice occasionally. Nba that there. Are those true friendships where it's not just like a coworker situation. But they're actually besties. And from what. I've heard In steph are that they're both carolina. They're both pretty religious family oriented guys. They both love golf. I mean it just makes sense. They have a lot to connect over. Yeah confidence is such a big thing in sports..

"A much bigger win than that. So Uh, I just You know, your top four teams Your top four teams you you could've guessed to the top four would have been three years ago. Probably right. I mean, every year in college football, the same 5 to 8 teams are are getting it done. It's Oklahoma. It's Clemson and Alabama Z Notre Dame. It's Oklahoma State. You could name the top 25 before college football starts every year, just awful, like which Ohio State just name your your Big tens and your SCC's and your Big twelve's and you'll end up with your top 25. Bottom line is they put out their top four yesterday and a lot got shuffled in. This happens every year, but maybe this year even more influx that we've had in past years. I see a lot of people checking in on the cast quick text line. We'll get to that in just a minute on the other side will respond to some of these texts, people checking in across the board, but you wanna have a little bit on some warriors stuff because a great article by my Connor Letourneau in the Sporting green this morning in the San Francisco Chronicle. Kent Baseboards were telling to the Warriors and really how big of a deal this is for Steph Curry, and I think that I think one thing is certain. When you have stuff on the floor, it's more fun to watch basketball when Steph has a supporting cast It's a really fun brand to watch. And even without Clay Thompson, I think that fun brand of basketball is gonna be back. The Kent pays more anything member that, like swinging your arm around as a three pointer and leaning forward. We need to get back into doing like the bays morning in the Tebowing and that the capper nicking that was a fun phase of the 20 tents. It's gone by the wayside so little bit on Kent days more when we return to the leadoff spot, and we'll check in on some of your text you're listening to the leadoff spot came here, one of 45 and six eighties, the sports leader. "They handled it just right. I mean they had to first rounders. They got rid of one. But you certainly can't get rid of both. That would be very dumb so they still have that one. It's probably going to be pretty good But you know what the bottom line is curry and draymond wooden here of backing up they. They've been waiting way too long to not go frigging nuts out. There really bad even. It's just personal. I mean they got to get back in the game. Curry's you're going to get back in among the superstar crowd is he's he's back man. Everybody look out. You know and dream onto. It wouldn't hear of it and that's going to be contagious ethics. So yeah i mean they got them. They made themselves exciting. They're spending a lot of money but the fans don't care about that they and as a really relevant right now mean last season they say open shea center to preposterous team. That was just full of guys never even heard of and then there's nobody there and then there's no season i mean he's going to open with no season that you know the fans are are gonna they. They need to get excited at the soonest. Possible opportunity next thing know kind of checked out of the nba for a while especially if the warriors are looking like they did. And i think you're you're you're treading trenches treacherous territory if you go that route right where wave the white flag again. And then you're risking ruining your the culture you've spent years building as you know the fact that the warriors didn't implode from a cultural perspective and a lack of perspective law enduring. What was an extremely tough league. Were season last. Season is a testament to what they built. But i don't even think the worst was standing other year that i don't think any team in professional sports and so just from a psychological perspective you lease to your fans and your players to to deport winning. I again this season. Even if you know that it's not probably gonna mean a title and look you know if if they can somehow still out of four seat in the west and get homecourt advantage in the playoffs with staff and draymond. It's not out of the question that they could make a run in the playoffs. And maybe the western conference finals make things interesting. And that's that's a huge psychological boost heading into what will be a critical twenty twenty one twenty two season. I think you know from the fans stamp where just getting into the playoffs would be a huge thing. Especially if there's fans in the stands with that many months from now it's like oh my god. Here's the opener of the you know the first round series at j. center wherever it may be you know that that's that's a heck of a thing that's that alone makes the season worthwhile to meet. I mean if you get swept in horrible fashion that diminishes pretty quickly but the bottom line is making the playoffs in the in this situation with this team these circumstances would be a great thing. And that's that's what they're going forward. I think they'll get there. I know we touched the bottom on first. Civic dots on brad wanamaker out of boston and as more from there with about makers if there's a race called the wanamaker mile at it was in the penn relays sir. But i. i watched a lot of the bubble. I was really skeptical at first leg. With what are they doing that. I got into it. And and.

"While it's hard to make some i. I'm telling you like to be a mormon in these times. It's hard because like you hear such good points and you look to the church to to make these statements and here. We are looking at chad. Maury looking at julie rowe and you're looking at the stuff going. They have scriptural background on a lot of these things and yet they haven't come out and said hey guys whatever. God told joe smith back then was for him in that situation. Then don't apply those scriptures anymore but there was that we want you to know about it because it's historical but we don't want you taking those. What lives could have been saved if it would have been really clear to everyone in his groups who adhere to the scriptures almost to a team. That's why they're in these groups. 'cause they're vacant. They're taking it more seriously than the average mormon church will come out and said. Don't do this this situation. Don't look at this this way. Take this metaphor It makes you wonder you know what could have been. Yeah i mean what would have been different. That's crazy we'll let let's go over to just the very last piece that she said where she year where she talks about like what she believes. Her mission is. I'll go ahead and play. No everyone's in charge of their own pace. What i'm creech to people. I feel like my mission. Is you find out the warrior in you. You find out what you came here to this earth. You promised you would do because i know. We promised that we each other. I know that we promised that we'd be in the circle. We help elevate this vibration ryan celestial vibration but we need to bring it up needs to be terrestrial vibration savior cannot home to the sanctified is gonna come to a win this thing to fight that needs to be us as you had the desire. Is you feel that burning inside you. That burning can become a fire on the outside of you when you walk down the road the dark ones in around our steer of you because you are great and terrible because you are in case in heavenly fire. The lord's case in heavily fire. You can be case in howley. Fire too so laurie clearly. The warrior thing is obviously back Oh yeah big time. I had a laugh when she says. Elevate this vibration. They had she would actually would have added so much more credibility to herself as she would've never said the word vibration or energy. Those who instant like. Oh god you almost had them. You had them what i'm learning to. Is that a lot of french scripts. There are a lot of workers like that's a big thing energy work and all that kind of stuff. I think that that's what zuma has steph s.'s. Like specialty the energy work. Yeah the area yav great area as a mormon utah so that would not be normal in this final closing apiece. I mean she talks about the the warriors stuff she brings up a franchise of energy work and then back to the fire. The fire imagery is here with them with an melanie and child. Laurie the heavenly fire. So unpack laurie. Yeah please yeah. And that's exactly what this is all these. I know statements again for anymore listening. You hear this fight is about to close out like i know this. I know this like she's just reiterating some of the things that she said and challenging them. But i know you'll find out the true if you ask like you're in a field is burning. You can have this to this all you know cut and paste how to find out if.

"Because he's so beloved he's a public figure is a superstar I think the one thing that concerns me in terms of his rehab and you laid it out really well on that store the other day as just a lateral quickness on defense yeah. That's one of his. Real strict says midwestern. What makes him really sets apart from. So many others shooting guards are players in the league period It's hard for me. Imagine you'll still have that but You know if he comes back and give thirty in. I in ten minutes they know to do. I think they can hang with that. I'm glad that we're we started this conversation by talking about what it means. Claire because i do feel like that's getting lost a little in the discussion right now. Obviously just in the world we live in easy to look at. Okay now what are the warriors there which which is an important question. Obviously an impressing was the seasons right around the corner but there is a human being here there. There is a life here that's being affected And in terms of the warriors long-term hopes they need clay to be clear rolled if they have any chance of winning. I don't not this season but was ins after that And i don't think it can be understated. How important he is to this organization. I would make the argument that he's the second most important player on the team. Draymond behind staff He is The glue that really holds his organization together. it's not just the fact that he's arguably the second best shooter in nba history behind steph. He's all defensive caliber defender which became even more important when andrea it would also got traded. And then he perhaps most importantly is just the perfect temperament His even keeled demeanor. I think is a perfect fit alongside the joyful staff the fiery dream on and it's just like a perfect puzzle piece And they're replacing him now with kelly oubre. Who's actually very draymond ask He's very hirees gotten into his his sheriff's bats including the infamous one when he was with the wizards where he punched clay in the in the back of the head which he apologized for by the way during his orders yesterday so he was very remorseful his past antics but the warriors reacted pretty quickly with literally within twenty four. Hours of clay's injury. They go out and they get a guy like uber. Who's coming off. A career year with phoenix averaged over. Eighteen points per game He's one of the best tradition players in the nba. He's only twenty four years old turns twenty five next month. Whoa what were your initial me. Saw them go get lebron in. Did you feel like he was the best use of that. Teepee that that traded player exception as opposed to someone. Like maybe eric bledsoe or near gordon. Someone a little older. Yeah i look down that list of the available guys Obviously you know you see names like brandon. Ingram and anthony davis said they were not gonna be available. And we're not. In fact. I i wasn't..

"The trade for kelly. Bray to the signings of brad wanamaker in baseball through. Thank you so much for joining me on the podcast I haven't had you on the podcast and what feels like forever. Which is an oversight on my part. I know i know our readers our listeners. Love your insight. And i haven't even gotten a chance to talk to you in months. We were just catching up before we jump don here about our lives because given the state of things with cove in We don't really overlap anymore so it's nice. It's nice to see your face. I remember once you look like now. I'll take this over. personal interaction. grow grown up the beard a little bit. Since how's that work with the mask it pokes out quite a bit. You know you you make do for sure. It's things were really chill there for a while. So i'm not really complaining and things of heated up in the past week or so. Obviously some of the reasons for that are unfortunate As injury last week the torn achilles will be out for the season. There's a massive trickle down effect to that And you've seen bob myers after makes really quick decisions in the aftermath of that because two days after he tore his achilles only day after he tore his he he found out for sure that he had torn his achilles free agency started and past week. You've seen the warriors. Add kelly oubre. Who's kind of the de facto fill-in in for clay And then you have. Kim basinger more and brad wanamaker I think that the warriors are still gonna make another move or to. They have the disabled the nine point. Three million dollars disabled player exception. And they have a little bit more left on that Mid level exception because they haven't used all of it yet. So i expect them to add one or two more guys but I guess my first question for you. Just be what was your initial reaction. Mascot ostler this when he came on the pot last week. But i'm curious for your. That's what was your initial reaction when you saw the news that clay was injured and it was. It was likely an achilles. Well just disbelief. I mean the way it was portrayed. You.
Cousins picks Rockets as sides reach 1-year deal
"Is signing with the Houston Rockets of one year $2.6 million deal non guaranteed. He last played in the NBA Finals. Nearly AH, year and a half ago with warriors cousins was making over 18 million when he toured Achilles tendon. Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson suffers season-ending Achilles tear
"The Warriors Press conference to introduce the Warriors Top two Jap fix. Bob Myers certainly poured his heart out, expressing the pain everyone felt in learning that Clay Thompson, who spent a year rehabbing a torrent left a CL now faces another long haul out for the season now with a Tauron right Achilles tendon. That injury happened during a pick up game in L. A. But on the lighter side, we
Southridge football's perfect season ends in Class 3A semistate against Danville
"An impressive win for the Danville Warriors tonight over a very good South Ridge Raiders team. No doubt about it. Bob Danville. They're just really, really good on both sides, the football and you know, like South Ridge had much of the season. Daniel had a lot of playmakers and It was just too much Danville, And sometimes that happens, no matter what you do the other guy on the other side of the field just better on that night and South Ridge nothing to hang their head about a great season. But Danville just really, really solid. Did they get started to Danville? Start out. Get on the board first and can't get ahead. Stay ahead kind of ball game. Well, Daniel did score to make it seven Nothing. Those South Ridge, then answer back on the very next possession with a five yard touchdown run by Carson, the house to tie the game. It's seven within Danville scored a couple of touchdowns. Heading into the locker room at halftime to go up 20 to 7 at the break and kind of, you know, just added on from there, and South just couldn't get anything going offensively. Even with the playmakers we've talked about all season long. It was just really impressive Danville defense of effort and they scored a couple of touchdowns in the second half. To make that final margin. 32 7. So that let's go back to that Flory there at the end of the half. What spurred that for the Danville? They had a flea flicker type of play on a double reverse. They pushed back the quarterback of pain, and he fired it down The field, got him inside the 10 yard line, so they punch it in from there, then get another stop defensively and move the foot ball down the field with their running back. Ethan Dutra hey, was just unstoppable on that fullback spot. He carried the ball 22 times for 172 yards for Danville. Usually he's their short yardage back. In the things that I've watched heading into the game, But he just carried Southridge defenders all night long, and he really was impressive in that little two touchdown Flory once they got the ball inside the red zone. Alright, so second half again, You know it's hard to spot a team like Danville that much going into halftime and you know, it's just all too is your game plan when you're playing from behind. No doubt about in southwards. Traditionally is that trouble coming from behind because they're more of a running type a team and it just seemed like Danville had 18 players instead of 11 on the defensive side of football against South Ridge. They turned him over on south of his first possession, coming out of the break on a fumble and had a short field and again just kept that margin in a comfortable, Ah, pace there, and it was just too much to overcome for South Ridge tonight. What a great year, though for south rich. I mean, if you would seriously at the beginning of the year if you thought you would still be doing games on semi state Friday, uh, You would have taken that opportunity. I think so, Bob, you know they southwards when those programs that reloads every year, but it seemed like they lost a lot of great players some last year, And of course, we've talked about it before. They've been success up to three A with basically a to a roster, and they would never use that. And it's right. Not an excuse, But you know what? Football? That's just the way it is. You know, you have a short roster compared to other strong three teams, but Pain on to make your questionnaire and my answer shorter to your question. I didn't anticipate them going on a run like this, even though they are a really good program. It's just a really, really nice season that we had a season to begin with. And to see it. You know, progress like this has been great for South or just program and Justin, outstanding season. Yeah, And you know what it Scott being is one of them. One of the good guys. Jamie Comber, The damsel coach won the war. The impressive young coaches in our state. And it just two solid, solid guys into programs with rich tradition. As you point out, yes, southwards. We know about them, and I'm not that familiar familiar with sandal, but not just on the surface, but you know they've got good athletics there and deal with the warrior program. And, you know coach coming over from Western Boone, where he had great success and help Western boom beat South Ridge a couple of years ago in the to a semi state. I'm impressed with the way Coach Homer's got Danville going here is the head into that championship game with
Thompson has torn Achilles tendon, expected to miss season
"Golden state warriors sharpshooter klay thompson tore his right achilles. Tendon they'll be out for another year. Not the klay thompson had choice. But would you voluntarily rupture your achilles tendon rehab for a year and then never really be the same for thirty five million dollars. And that's what klay thompson is. Guaranteed this year. That's his salary.

Thompson has torn Achilles tendon, expected to miss season
"So it's the injury everybody's talking about but with clay sadly you gotta specify which injury you're talking about. Are you talking about the one in game. Six of the twenty nine thousand finals. The last time we saw him play a game or the one suffered earlier in the week. Which is an achilles tendon. Tear he is now out. It could be if the calendars right two and a half years between games. We're looking forward to having him back at the start of the twenty twenty one. Twenty two season knick. Fidel has been all over the warriors for years and he joins us on the shell. Pennzoil performance line nick. Good morning first thing. Just the response in and around the organization on the news zubin. Everybody's just depressed excited leading into the draft. And in the fact that wiseman was there at number two he was number one on their board and and they were just really looking forward to having steph klay draymond and then plugging in wiseman and seeing what we can give them and then they range of emotions in those couple of hours before the draft and then after the draft they really couldn't even celebrate. Everybody was so sad about clay. I mean he is the guy behind the scenes with all the star power in that locker room that sets the tone for everybody else. And that's why kerr and all those players they love it and so to know that he's going to be out again for another year which just crushing for. Everybody involved nikki. Give us an insight. Into how bob myers and company dealt with the news of klay thompson literally hours before the nba draft that make their decision challenging more challenging looking at other guys like lamelo ball considering he was going to be available. Jay bob address that right afterwards instead. Look wiseman was our guy if he was there we were taken him and obviously if the emotions involved right before the big or unprecedented we. We really never seen anything like it. Before where a star player who has won titles in an organization gets another serious injury right before you gotta make a huge selection for your future but all along when you talk to people in the organization they love what wise men could give them and they're confident that once he gets into their system playing and learning alongside draymond that he can be maybe that bridge or potentially down the line Tracey's nobody knows for sure but wiseman all along was their guy in. I don't think anything that happened with. Clay change to focus when he was number two

San Francisco rejects Warriors’ plan to bring fans into Chase Center
"San Francisco Public health officials are saying not now to a plan that would have had all Golden State Warriors fans tested as they filed in tow Chase Center or at least before they got there. The Warriors had hoped to fill the place to have capacity for NBA games when the new season begins next month. It was a plan being closely watched from other parts of the country in the sports world, KCBS reporter Holly Kwon says the team is hoping what the city is really saying here is not no but not yet. With the state seeing rising case numbers and San Francisco getting dropped down to reopening tears from yellow to red health officer Dr Thomas Harrigan, but it was too risky to give the green light to the waiters plan to use rapid PCR tests. Clear enough fans to get Chase Center to 50% capacity. UCSF epidemiologist Dr George Rutherford worked with the Warriors on the plan and says the science is sound. But you do need lower case numbers to start with. He says. When they were tossing around the idea back in June, it was a pie in the sky to think you'd have a home virus test or a 95% effective vaccine. But after the last couple of weeks, it's clear the technology is they're sending a self test to season ticket holders is doable. They have the answer back before they left their house. So that for a handful of people who would show up at the gate who were given tickets or who got him through stuff up for something they would they would have on site testing for them, But you don't want to create those really long lines. You want to be able to bring the people the largest number of people that right away on about having backed up outside The city says it's open to the idea of 25% capacity at Chase Center. When case numbers allow all week. Juan KCBS
Warriors' Klay Thompson Reportedly Suffers Season-Ending Torn Achilles Injury
"Back here on this developing story. The news from the nba yesterday was not good hours before the draft klay thompson injuring his right leg during a workout with several nba in ally. He will undergo an mri this morning. The warriors are worried that it could be chilies injury holding out hope. It's not as serious as that. But if you're reading the tea leaves on social media all the reaction that seemed to be coming in. Yesterday it sounded very pessimistic. And so here's the great jalen rose with me here. I see the look on your face. What is your reaction. What what would this mean if this is a bad injury. I'm just really disappointed for clay in. this family. Hopefully is not a torn achilles. Which is being reported. I just remember seeing kevin durant with ice on his calf but ended up having an achilles injury. And it's really unfortunate. Because with the splash brothers healthy with draymond green. And you draft wise men the golden state warriors. We're going to catapult themselves back into contention greenie now without klay thompson. They'll be lower-half playoff team potentially in the western conference and now that he's had achilles injury is potentially in back to back seasons. We now start looking at the future of their team. Wondering ken bay now recapture championship glory. So it was really unfortunate for the golden state warriors and their fans if particularly going into the draft last night. No question about it so all. We'll do we'll sit and we'll hope for better news than some are anticipating and we should have that in a few hours
Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, injured in workout with other NBA players, will undergo MRI on Thursday
"Be concerned. I play all those things combined. This far as i know he's playing basketball and I don't know who with i think is playing basketball pie. Like a lot of these guys are trying to get ready for ready for the season. Clay of course missed all of last year after the aclu injury. He suffered in the finals that year. Before here are tim. Legler and adrian watson hausky getting up with us earlier today guys. Thanks whoa do. What can you tell us. What do we know about this injury. Greenie lower lower right leg. There's certainly a significant amount of concern among the warriors talked to his agent greg lawrence last night. And they're going to have that imaging this morning a west coast time you'll see some of the warrior personnel front office medical staff coming down to be there his agent there and they're going to get a better sense of the severity of the injury. The torn acl injury was on his left is left knee that causing the last season. This is a right leg injury so it's not the same leg that's not necessarily any indication of how severe it may or may not be but just to sort of by for those award following it last night. The vibe i was clearly getting from you and others covering the story. Was that the level of concern that this is. Something very serious is significant. We don't wanna read too much into it. But am i getting that part of it right. Yeah there's there's a significant level of concern but it could be could it be At best strength half at worst is it in the achilles area and so that's why they'll get in there today they'll do the imaging and they'll find out for sure right so tim lego. Let's let's sort of look at this from a bigger picture basketball perspective if klay to missed significant time here this is a long term injury and again we can all hope that it isn't but what would that mean for the warriors championship window. Well my direct answer to that question would be. I think it's still open greenie. I think. Look i'm less concerned about klay thompson potentially missing another years in terms of just guys getting a little bit older steph and draymond both in their early thirties. I'm not as concerned about that. More concerned about what is going to be like coming back from now. Potentially another dreaded basketball injury. That's what you're concerned about and now on each leg so let's see what klay thompson looks like. You know a year from now. That's how john again. We're still waiting to hear the results of that. I still think the windows opening the main reason because we look around the nba. There is only one team right now. That definitively you can say it. Looks like they're put together to win the title. And that's the lakers about virtually every other team in the nba. So this means the warriors getting back together is delayed a little bit longer so be it. I
Wolves take Edwards 1st; Wiseman, Ball go next
"With the first pick in the two thousand and twenty nba draft. The minnesota timberwolves select anthony edwards from the university of georgia. So there is anthony edwards georgia bulldog now. A member of the minnesota timberwolves a lot of talk about the wolves might do. They've got new leadership in the front office coach. Saunders pick they have a lot of holes to fill instead they take edwards will pair him with karl anthony towns. The warriors took james wiseman second. The hornets drafted lamelo ball with the third overall pick but
Australian Special Forces Unlawfully Killed 39 In Afghanistan
"The Australian military says it's found credible evidence that special forces soldiers unlawfully killed at least 39 civilians and prisoners in Afghanistan. Australia's armed forces Chief General Angus Campbell, Said, and inquire into misconduct uncovered a shameful record of a warrior culture among some soldiers. He apologized to the Afghan people, He said some of the alleged executions were done to initiate junior soldiers. Weapons and radios within allegedly planted to support claims that the victims were enemies killed in action. Dr Samantha Comforts carried out the initial research some of the ones that are shocking and certainly what state with me with these incidents that were described is blooding where those between commanders were encouraging or insisting junior soldiers execute prisoners to achieve their first kill. So it was that sort of pattern of behavior of grooming these junior soldiers. Or initiating them into the squadron. That's what was very
Anthony Edwards Drafted No. 1 by the Minnesota Timberwolves
"Month away, the MBA finally held his draft Wednesday night with the University of Georgia's Anthony Edwards going first overall to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Edwards at 6 FT five guard from Atlanta was the Southeastern Conference freshman of the year last season and let all freshmen in the nation averaging 19.1 points a game. Memphis center James Wiseman went second to the Golden State Warriors and low mellow ball went third to the Charlotte Hornets after playing in Lithuania and Australia last season for
Patrick Williams: No. 4 pick by Chicago Bulls in NBA draft
"The Bulls have made their second round pick, but it doesn't sound like we'll see him. In Chicago for a while. 21 year old Senator Marco Simonovic of Montenegro is the choice of 44 overall, and those have seen him loud his offensive production overseas, but Question whether he can truly succeed down low in the NBA Bulls come let him play in Europe but keep its rights. And that may well be the play tonight. Really? About the first rounder, fourth overall, the versatile Patrick Williams. He's a 19 year old forward 68. But it wasn't long ago that he was a guard and Williams expects to move up and down the line. He also can't wait to get to town. Chicago W some something special being built there. Um, with the new, you know, front office on down the guys that they have, you know, kind of bet. I mean, it is definitely something special. To rebuild their undersides. My from all of them, You know Kobe white that ravine is about town. I mean, all the guys. I've decided to learn from Bulls Prize Williams defense and outside shooting and believe his offense will grow as he does. Williams did not start a game and his one year with the Seminoles but was the A C C sixth Man of the year. Guard Anthony Edwards went number one to the Timberwolves center James Weissman, number two to the Warriors guard Lamell, a ball third to the Hornets.

"Million dollars in rookie that kind of thing. I think that the warriors are going to take somebody at number two. If there's the person they wanted number two right I don't think they're going to trade back take maybe a lesser player in their mind just to save some money I, don't I think if they're going to spend anywhere, they're going to say what we earned this number two pick by having the worst record in the league. Let's go ahead and use it. It's going to service in the future they can make up for that by selling their second round picks they can make up for it by not using the full mid level or the full trade exception, I? Think. That's where they might start cutting costs There's been a lot of scuttle recently about Oh, my God, the warriors only use a trade exception in a special circumstance or something like that by basically been saying that. All along since exit interviews like the exception is only us on the right player and this is the kind of framing that I keep using for a warriors fan because I get questions about this too. I'm sure you do With. Why wouldn't the warriors are you're gonNA use the full trade exception like word chance really want them to use the seventeen point two, million dollar tree exception it might comeback as always this it's going to depend on the player no doubt. How bummed is a warriors Fan GonNa D. don't get really gay. How boomed is a warriors fan going to be if they don't end up with Kelly Olympic, how bummed is a warriors fan going to be if they like the? are like when you really player on the acceleration I think part of the reason why people want them to use the training sense of valley's they don't have a realistic idea of who the air with. At thanks a lot I. think they can give this all star caliber guy which is not going to happen. and given their financial situation. You. Really need to be getting someone who's going to. Give you. Guaranteed helpful minutes in the playoffs if you're willing to eat that sour when you're already deepen the right. The the one thing I would say is that like there is value in maintaining that cap slot. So if that tricks upton expires, the Matt's, let's say you get really gay on an expiring deal he's making fourteen million dollars the real value or is that you now hold fourteen million dollar caps lead on that roster, which was sort of Diangelo Russel Science right that was I understand that if you kind of take in you kind of projecting if they'd take somebody number two, who makes ten million dollars and you take this guy at fourteen or seventeen million dollars or whatever they end up using, you put those two together you're very close to a MAC salary throw in an air passiflora Jordan pork of on Looney you're right there and you can basically match any salary for whatever superstar you lump in your first round picks boom. You got ready made package without having to give up Andrew wiggins right and it's not that they would necessarily not want to give up. Andrew. Wiggins is that Andrew we might not have that much trade value in the first place Renzo. UA, Grand League, and if Janas is signaling by the trade deadline, I'm Outta here or if what's going on with Derek Maureen Dockers in Philadelphia and Ben Simmons and Joel. Working Tread that line we know Darryl more is really quick triggers on the trade deadline. He'll do anything and it's not working out you WANNA have those stackable salaries rate where you're a little bit more flexible that to me is the biggest value of this exception. Yeah. Could they do a bridge by where they go ahead and figure out a way to get a? I don't think they're get a superstar at this trade exception this off season I think you could potentially get there later on but even like the other names that are out there Erin Gordon's and the miles Turner's stat like we're like is that it's not worth it like Gordon doesn't really help states chances like he's not like I don't think they. Like. That's what I'm saying. Even this hypothetical if you trade, for James Johnson or Cody Zeller, and then you stack that with Kevon looney and then boom, you got the salary. Throw, first-round pick on their whatever like. That's not worth it to me like the to me the on Aaron Gordon like he's not that helpful player miles turner same thing like he's not like he lost the Montessori bonus is job so. That to me is bonus vegetables Dan Alternatives like Nice, but he took. No. Not. GonNa really providing much offense. Okay. So. That's that's to me where I end up with this exception is. There's really not what single player out there. That makes a ton of sensitive fit. The real value is just maintaining that caps lot and being able to stack salaries in the future for if there is an all-star trade down the line, and if there isn't, then maybe you know that that salary comes off the books to you pay a little bit in luxury tax and then lawn. Yeah. It'll be it'll be really fascinating to Leeann and I'm sure. Hopefully. From their perspective is of in the bar and so to speak with the draft another still working out guys and seeing person doing their due diligence but I think they have a pretty clear idea what they wanna do the draft at this point. Yeah, and then they can really start focusing more of their energy toward getting a really nuanced plan A. Plan B. Plan C. Plan D. for free agency because that's GonNa be those first few days agency especially given the potentially crunch time line and just the team is. Probably going to be two of the most important days of Bob Marston. Yeah I think look I'm not I don't I'm not a general manager only play one on podcasts but. I. Feel like. I feel like it's kind of simple for them like all right number to. Take the guy like I. If that's Anthony Edwards that's James Wise Man. It was they're definitely pretty back, right? Everyone's saying that it was warning that right when. They're down. There's literally no chance. They're gonNA use the number two big right was i. don't know where that reporting came from. That was a lot of like Hoopla right to me that was a lot of and started just. Carry. What's basis said that? This is just two fronts talking I don't know him Basil's in right now. But I I do. It did come it. It comes off as like a Lotta outside or talk like obviously the warriors trade the pick and it's like no everything that I've heard from the beginning of the warriors want to draft a future all start with his pick. You have the best chance of doing that and number two. Now I'm not saying just hypothetically I'm not saying wouldn't be trading back I. Definitely. Could trade back but it's GonNa take the right offer and it's but it's not a given. I. Don't think that they're going to trade all the way back to like ten or eleven like and that's two four in the thing is this draft is so lurid that someone you really like. You you might as well, just take them number two and not worry about the voice. Out, there to say with the reach is who eleven vassals your guy if de he's your guy tires Halliburton's. You trade that Lake let's say back to eat which is a spot we've talked about for. The trip back to eight. is or any of the guys that they? Do, any of the guys that they like are they going to be there at eight like there's not a guarantee you? The odds are that maybe one of several guys they like we'll be there but you know there's no guarantee of anything and so like. Just hate the guy who liked and call it a deck. Like that's exactly same. That's losses implant. Take the guy like. Who you like, you're a decent idea NAFA WHO's going to be there. In the one one guy we talked a lot about his denny and I know they really like Danny, Everyone whenever I've written about dinner talked about the the the message that I get from people on twitter and emails, and what have you is like, whoa cool. They like dating. Great. Well, he got back in the draft it's like. No, there's. No one knows where he didn't could very well be a top redraft. I mean he got over one the Minnesota he's. I mean. Honestly what this is just. Me Guessing but I think was going to happen is at least one of those three big names that are considered quote unquote moon air quotes on zoom here a top free guys as. Wiesner Ball. One of them is GonNa Plummet and by plummet team late GONNA. Fall to the middle. I think it's probably going.

"You so much joining me on the podcast He kind of last minute pod I had I had planned to do someone else today he. Threw being the great friend and colleague that you are you rush to mind to my age are really appreciate it West It's been kind of now. It's good to know that I'm good to know that I'm plan B right off the bat. That's a good signal to your listeners like even WanNa talk to this guy, but I needed to get a five. So. I got mixed up a little bit but you know what? YOU'RE MR reliable and I think judging off our numbers, the listeners tend to appreciate eh or maybe they don't appreciate when you're listening to me and I think that's part of why they listen. So Hey. Listen to It's all good. You have said some of your polarizing stuff probably ever on the spots I'm very proud to say that and. The the interesting the big news. Obviously, this past week was The news that it's looking like there's a decent chance that the NBA season will start December twenty second that is quite a change. Don't we adopt four I think we we were all of the mindset that it was going to be some time between January February maybe even marched before the season started but it looks like the League is valuing getting the season's done before the Olympics over. Maximizing the amount of fans that are in Arenas which I can understand they wanNA, they wanna get it done. They want to you know get get a good seventy five. And and still have players be able to do the Olympics makes sense to me when you first the players will have their summers to that way. Perhaps most importantly, it'll be easier for them to get on normal schedule going forward I. Don't think they want the entire calendar forever be changed because no, what will bend Derek? So it's not an ideal situation If they end up starting in late December it's gonNA habit huge down. Louisa what it means is the next. Two months they're going to send You have the NBA draft team you you potentially have to start free agency immediately after that and then in the worst-case, they have the seventeen point, two, million dollars except for have to figure out what they're doing that. So you're getting. You're figuring out. Your the rest of your roster, and then you have a shortened abbreviated training camp mean you're looking at a pretty quick training camp in potentially no reason and then you're just starting you know the NBA season with fewer games an on. So everybody was gonNA matter more. So if you have teams that I'd overhaul their Oscar in the next month or two. That their. Competitive disadvantage in some ways because they're going to have to learn on the fly and take some some learning curve, which could result in some losses which end up mattering you know come you know often him. Yeah, I think that's you're you're hitting on something there I think the warriors other teams might just value continuity more than anything, which is really tough for this free agent Class I mean you're GonNa have I think veterans go unsigned when the season starts and just as a couple points information I think it was sham strontium network reported the day we were recording this that Michelle Roberts was pushing back and shoes at least here from players pushing back a little bit on the December twenty second start dating maybe pushing more for January this is just my. Opinion. My feel is that those players pushing back or probably the players that went late into the Lebron James Kawhi Leonard Jimmy Butler. You know Jamal Marin, kokage all these kind of guys star players who played solely into the bubble. That's really unfair to them. Honestly to start the season as quickly as they would they're going to have two months off compared to what a usual offseason, his four months right so it's fifty percent of half of what their normal off time would be versus a team like the warriors who are going to be probably a playoff team. Next year we can. We'll see if they're really contenders but at least in the playoffs, they're gonNA have about eight months off the more that's double what the Regular offseason is that disparity is insane it is and so you can't like you would. You would guess that somebody like Lebron James who has so much power in this league is GonNa. Say You know what? I know that you want this revenue and all that stuff at get it. I want to win a championship and the best chance for me to do that is for the season to start in January eighteenth or something like that where it's a little bit more manageable you get another month off Lebron, which could be that means a lot right and so that's a lot closer to what a normal offseason would be But for the warriors. To trying to bring it back. Yeah. I think you're right. They might be a little rusty right out the gate, right? Maybe they do end up doing two three or four preseason games or something like that. But they're going to be rusty right out of the gate. When you have seventy two games, eighty, two games, every game's going to matter that much more an but on the flip side of that Connor I think that. Come March April. They're going to be a lot more fresh than a team like the Lakers or clippers. Hitting a wall at that point, which could end up serving the warriors a pretty well, I think at that point. Yeah for sure I think the big narrative when this news first came out in the bay area was just that this was. Going to be a positive thing long-term for the warriors but I think you also have to take into account. You know you're you're trying to work back staff who wasn't that minicamp frame on. Many cabin and was off and on throughout the season. Klay Thompson WHO's missed over a year with that ACL. Glon. Loony who? Basically might as well, not play last year when he did play was. injured. The warriors are going to be rusty man like they're going to be, and so this idea that a December store versus a January store is any better for the warriors is nonsense like they are arrested. The rust has set in they are rusted right to him out. I can't imagine how if this does end up happening I'll overwhelm Steve Kerr is gonNa feel going into training camp because there's just so much on your list and there's literally no way. There's not as this is a negative for the warriors, not only for Steve Kerr in the players I think this is a negative because you wanna be able to take your time in training camp you WanNa work through a full preseason. You wouldn't do all these things because you don't wanna be rusty when the regular season starts and this timeline this calendar they there's a greater chance that they would be despite them starting a month earlier than January February the other part of this is. For a Myers this front office they're going to have to rush through the most important offseason of their tenure I, know they've had seven months this point to prepare for it, and so if they fail, it's kind of on them anyway Brent. It's they've got I think like the warriors teams are going to value like I said before continuity worst of thirteen guys under guaranteed contract. Now, there's kind of. There's some were not guaranteed contract, but under contract right now I know that there's guys like Michael Mulder and Wanda discount. Anderson. Players like that that precarious, their roster spot is right. But they they convert them to two ways or release them in favor of a veteran on the veteran minimum or or somebody in the ball exception. But given how cramped this entire thing is it might just be like, Hey, number two pick. Let's get somebody with the mid level exception of the trade exception done with roster like let's just get going. There's a greater chance of that happening in what is such a pivotal off season and that I think would be a detriment to this team because there's going to be a lot like other. If you had a normal offseason, there'd be a lot more time for some wheeling and dealing not more time for somebody to for for the warriors to explore what they could do at the trade exception a lot more time to check in with veterans who are free agents that that could potentially help them verses like hey. Let's just cut this quick and dirty. Let's get going which I think could.

"Welcome to Warriors Awkward The San Francisco Chronicle's NBA podcast I'm your host Connor Letourneau and the damn to by West Goldberg hosted the popular locked on Warriors podcasts during our conversation we looked at which players have the most approve ahead of next season's training. West. Thank you so much for joining me back on the PODCASTS. How's how's Florida treating you? I know you're still out there in the Miami area you bet. Hot. But you know it's been good been spending a lot of time at the pool. Sort of developing a drinking problem but was the bill it's it's quarantine nobody cares Corinthian. Man I mean as long as you get the work done as long as you're sponsored by the have been doing your work, I've been impressed you. You've been reading some good stuff It's been nice for both of us because there's been stuff to write about. We're not just having to sit back and make things up. There's. There's been content that's been readily available with minicamp minicamp. Officially today is Tuesday minicamp officially ended today. It was kind of an interesting thing. Obviously, the warriors have never had an offseason minicam because I haven't really needed one but given the long hiatus. Via let them have it in Steph draymond warrant there So I think that limited how much they could accomplish but it felt like. Given. The fact that those two weren't there they they. They got as much out of it as they could what what was your big takeaway from it? Similar I think. You know what Steph Jay Monahan give you right like Steph is going to stretch the floor in ways that nobody else can. Draymond. Green is going to give you this play making ability from the four and five spot that very few players in the League can provide. But, Steve Kerr and the coaching staff not for office aware and familiar with what those guys can do. So I think it's easy to project their abilities. Based on what they saw these scrimmages and these practices and whatever individual drills and various drills that they went through. It's really just about finding guys who complements Steph, Draymond Klay, Thompson and everything that we've heard is that Klay Thompson is looking good and he's on track to be one hundred percent by next season. So given that this trio then is is going to be back in place where it wasn't last year it's just about finding with Flavors, compliment that core and it sounds like this minicamp was a step in the right direction as far as. Seeing what Andrew wiggins looks like seeing what some of these younger players look like and. Halley sort of actor in two next team that hopes to get back into the playoffs. Yeah. So one day on the big thing I wanted to talk about today is this is a really interesting time for these guys right because we're in the middle of this extended hiatus it's looking like next season's not gonNA start till January or February, which when you go back all the way to mid March when the warriors season officially ended, that's going to end up being..

"Back of a roster. Jordan? Cool. Started off the, you couldn't hit the backboard on a three pointer. It was life dependent on it towards the end of the year the shots started Honolulu, kind of figured himself out who is he? What kind of development has had? The last time we saw him almost more Allen Snyder George. You know there was a period of time during last year where we were fawning over smiling done kid limitless potential. You know that dominated in the G. League and finally come up and had his shot them about shine on were off for like senior where is she? What's happened since then has there been the kind of development we were hoping for when he was the G. League saw. So they will be little things if if you are interested that can be really important coit future then hopefully reveal themselves. Yeah you make an interesting point about smiley because. I've felt like he felt like he regressed the course of the season went on He had some nice flashes of of of things early in the season but the reality is he had no idea what he was doing the whole time I mean I talked to someone in the front office who said that he smiley didn't understand. More than a quarter of the playbook. Language barrier and other things I mean he's starting to become more fluent in English. But you know he was splitting a lot of time between Santa Cruz and and Golden State and I think it was hard especially for a young guy like that But I, don't think they were super pleased with what they saw toward the end of the year. He didn't finish the good. No there were times where he just flat out looked like he had no business being on a basketball court like he looked like he like you are I was out there like he just looked completely deer in headlights like he had no idea. What he was doing and you know I I knew I know that they. Intent anticipated a little bit of that because this is a guy is nineteen years old before he played the G. League the previous season he had never played higher than the Serbian division, which is like a glorified rec league basically. And so there was going to be a major learning curve but you know he given the Rosser crunch that I just alluded to there is a chance that they could see if they don't see anything out of him in minicamp and they don't see any progress. In their really facing a series numbers grunts and they really like tai-bo inner wanted Scotto or or Michael Moulder and they want keep them around. It's not out of the realm of possibility for them to cut smiley. This. Obviously. Does have a guaranteed deal, but it's a low level minimum. Deal. And it's it's possible that they could cut him I. Don't think they will because I think they're curious enough about his upside give him another year. But. The prove himself but I think there's there's a chance that they could end up cutting him in and one thing I'm curious as as as a fan, you know someone who watches the game goes to the Games. Who of those three guys of? Michael Motor home and do you like the most. During the black lives matter wonder. Anderson name came up a lot because he leading a series of movement and I really respected his involvement in the community and so his name is I that pop up in my mind, but it's completely unrelated basketball. If. I'm focusing only on what they did. For the warriors on the floor, it would most likely be tied Bonin but let me put it this way. If they lost all three, I wouldn't be harbored. Yeah I I agree with that assessment I I. Agree with this as they lost, all three of wouldn't be the end of the world I. think that honestly I do think that want is gonNA. Underside I know I don't think this was his intention I. think he he had very genuine intentions putting together the black lives matter protest but I actually do think helped his roster status. Because I've I talked to Steve recently and Steve Kerr and he was a fugitive about how impressed he was with just who want is as a person and what what he's done in the community and honest when you're talking about like the Fifteenth Guy Fourteenth Fifteenth Guy. That's of matters you know you want. A nice storyline. It's you have a local guy doing good in the community. You know who was undrafted like that is a that is a nice narrative to have at the end of your walk your bench. Practically speaking if I remember right the people at that rally recruited like Steph and clay in the big boys yeah. A certain level over specs. Friendship where I mean like if if Kinda Anderson head to exchange tax with those guys just to get them to the parade and I'm sure they did just logistically right. The way that human nature works. If they developed a friendship because of that, you're not like ask us he just literally just because if by working together to help with that protest together, he got to know these splash weather's better than does he have a gigantic advantage over the tunes you mentioned of course he does, of course, he does but I the. I think that we can bring this back to the main point of of the podcast and it's Last. Year the warriors had a series of place holders. They weren't trying to fix the they just trying to get through the year this year they need to see how some of those place holders will actually play a role and the quickest way to do that is by getting information through this training camp. Yea Camp. And like one thing that's going to be really important next season is you need. The guys who who got significant the young guys who've got significant minutes last season like Jordan Pool, and Damon. -Ly you know those that caliber of guy you need them. To show you that you can put him on the floor and a playoff game and not freak out. You know you need. You need you need for the warriors to win the title next season they need at least nine or ten guys probably eight nine or ten guys who they feel genuinely one hundred percent confident. They can put in meaningful moments in a playoff game and not have to worry about it and I personally am not one hundred percent confident that someone like Damian Lee. Can is ready for that moment or are. You would go comfortable having him in that moment. But if he can prove in many camping and going forward, that that he can be would that would raise the ceiling in my mind on this on this team? you know outlook next season because. That type of death really matters when you're talking about the postseason. I absolutely agree with you and you just identify the topic for podcast one. I hope that that will really get to explore but it if the warriors are as good as we hope, they might be next year championship contention top four and molest good. Then how can some of these smaller pieces perform when it really matters because watching, for example, the clippers on players like mantras Herrell fall. Apart when they really really needed him not to identifies how things tunes role players when they're playing the eighty two as opposed to the final sixty. But hopefully, we can have that concern next year right now we're talking about a team with the worst record of the NBA. So we save that question I'd know how crazy is this double ban I mean wow, that game last night with.

"And over again over the past three decades, connor is the front offices are not created equally right. Some teams have very confident. For an office that seem to always make the right decisions, some teams do not and invariably regardless of how many top five picks they have shit the bed with each of them and don't bring back any town. So we know that to be true and right now the warriors are blessed with an office that is I believe is is in the upper echelon of the we finally have one. But that's not enough talent in the front office Indian of itself is not going to guarantee you in. That front office also needs to have access to information. Otherwise, I can't do anything with their talent. They aren't able to to evaluate information unless they have it. So reckless minicamp does is provide one of these upper echelon offices, the information they need to distinguish themselves, and yes, the draft is one of those things stupid example but marquees Chris comes in looking like. Young Kevin Garnett, or you know God knows what reason suddenly his jump shot it's crazy Chris added fifteen pounds of lean muscle. He's unstoppable during the next seven days. Then if they had any interest in James wasn't not anymore why you know they found out, they have Chris. Of course, it's going to affect or of course, it could affect who may consider the to pick. Yeah Yeah and. We don't even know when the draft is man like it's A. Ridiculous. Every time they announced these delays. I've actually gotten a lot of people on twitter and in my. Telling me, Yo. Stop writing the number two pick I think people are getting. Tired of me writing the number two big I'm sure I have listeners right now just nodding being like yeah. And Look. I get I have written a lot about the number do big and I've. I think I've pretty much hit every angle I can hit humanly possible. One of those listeners GonNa you keep talking and writing about the to take my man I the more information I can get I mean i. have this working on right now We're every. We've for space reasons imprint. We gotta take last week off but I have story that was gonNA come last week coming this week and it's on Denny Abdo out of Israel and every week I'm doing full profiles on these people. And I'm actually talking to people close to them getting into their back stories and then on top of that, I am doing like analytical breakdowns a how they fit with the warriors for every single guy wars might consider. So it's going to be like eight or nine guys Or lauded majority how much more I can do that? Beyond. Listeners we just pumped fist. Yes. Fans everywhere happy for the ten percent who have already called you apparently or use social media to get tested into. Hey, stop writing about the second big. I. Love Your response to them was how right an entire series about the second big suck on the so nicely Batman. Yeah, I mean part of it was I'm looking for content to be honest with you. But also part of it is. I'm interested in in all this stuff As, you know I'm I'm kind of a draft nerd and I've never really gotten the chance to cover the like this before because the warriors will always make the finals and then add like a week to prepare for the draft and then have like. Round pick or early second round pick and that was that was that. A careful. What you wish for a large majority of my way was funding was spent doing nothing but looking at obsessing over and hoping for the draft so you know and. Then you drive you know todd fuller and you know see the companies I was there. What do you like poking wound I? Know we what we suffered through I don't read and let's just focus back on the to pick and the series you have I don't want to jump back down the warriors terrible draft history but something's been bothering me and I should've asked to the poll on the street right at the beginning of the. Because you mentioned that everything in the NBA world keeps getting pushed back and the entrance is the reason they're doing that they want to see how fans return to the NFL works because Murray one way will allow fans to return to their own bottle which leases in this question. You're not from the future. There's you don't work for their front office. Don't know right now if you had to guess, do you think they will be fans NBA Arena during the twenty twenty one? just a guess I would say, I, think there's GonNa be some level fans yes. I think I could I could I in a best case scenario to start the season, you'd have maybe half capacity. in my. mind. I think that's possible. You see the NFL not not in this market not in San Francisco but you see the NFL and other markets having fans college football has fans don't think that's the smartest thing in the world, but it's happening and. So the NBA. Will definitely. Do everything in their power to make sure they can have some fans because there's a lot of money at the gate. They're losing every time they don't have fans. into goat entire another season without it would be. Ralph, which is why they're willing to wait You know as long as they need to So I do think there will be and I also think there's a good chance that we're not gonNA have been be until. Closest springtime, which is depressing to even talk about. Because I don't know about you, but I am really ready to watch Moore's basketball and actually go to games again and feel like a real be rhetoric. I'm so excited for the MINICAMP. I've been sweating for the last twenty five minutes. Yeah. Then I'm ready to have lawyers basketball back in my life. Yeah, for sure is there is there anything else that you're going to be? Looking for for me it's not as important but. One thing that I'm going to be watching is just what's going on with with some of the young guys because you know the warriors are going to be facing. A numbers crunch roster. Wise and so you're looking at guys like high. Bowman Qantas gone. Anderson. Michael. Motor technically Markey's Chris because his contracts are guaranteed but I'm. Ninety nine point nine percent sure. He'll be on the team next season. So really you're looking at K. Bowman marquees are. GonNa Anderson and Michael Motor, and then there's also chasing Randall and bender I don't even think benders. Around anymore, I don't think he'll be there at many camping than Randall, almost definitely will not be on the team next season so. The but the truth is there's out of those three guys out of Bowmen, discount O- Anderson and moulder. best-case narrow. One of them makes it I mean if you just look at the numbers and what the words are trying to accomplish this offseason I, would be I. think there's a chance none of them make it I think there's a good chance that like one of a makes fifteen man and then maybe another one or two of them good two-way contracts. but this'll be a really kind of important edition in a sense for that because they didn't get to play with Steph and Klay last season and so if they can show something. Alongside Steph in clay I think that'll really help their chances of You know being factor going forward. SHERP in addition to back into the roster decisions who gets to continue actually remain the Golden State Warrior I'm interested in the development of the almost.

"Bubble and let's start your. This team should be really good nets your I have high expectations, but they don't know each other right Steph has never played a single minute with Andrew Wiggins Steph and clay have never played a single minute with Andrew Wiggins. We don't know how leaving the pillars. The foundation of this core will fit with one another or personality wise how they will talk how their personalities Mesh. So the idea that they're not only going to get to play with one another for seven days but live together in bubble and eat together and spend all that time I think is really really valuable. It's it's a big upside and they're gonNA add some needed experience doesn't have him. Yeah I. Agree. To me, the I wanted to specifically see how we gins fits with with Steph in clay. And I, I WANNA in Kinda, going along with that I wanna see how clay is doing physically. Yeah. I personally feel very confident that clay is going to be at or close to a hundred percent. And I'm not talking the start of next season on talking like the start of actual minicamp because it's been over a year you know the typical recovery on an ACL is usually somewhere between nine and ten months and. you know. Klay as is still pretty young and ease has a reputation for for being able to bounce back pretty quickly from everything I've already been extremely. Diligent in his rehab so I would be shocked if he wasn't already. Close to one hundred percent but you don't you don't know until you actually see it right so Is he one hundred percent is Kevon looney. Close to one hundred percent because kvant. Let's just be honest here he was downright awful last season and it's not. It's not totally his fault because he dealt with a bunch of physical issues. I mean. He had some pretty serious case of neuropathy. In his hamstring and really throughout his body, and then he had some other nagging injuries and he just was never. Physically himself I. Mean he looked like a shadow of that guy who is a real factor in the previous finals and so? was that kind of the beginning of the decline for him or was that just a? Hiccup in. Wellesley. Be Along. Productive career I mean this is someone that already has had. At a young age serious health issues he had several hip surgeries early in his career. and. So. Can he can he come back close to one hundred percent? For and honestly that's important because the warriors need him to be a factor in their center rotation, they're gonNA almost definitely signs someone in free agency at the center spot. But you know they've always done center-by-committee and right now really all day Marquees Chris. So you markey's Chris a healthy given and and maybe you can go out and get like a oh or a surge baca or something than that to me is a really solid center rotation but. Kvant needs to be part of that, and if von can't be part of that if he can't be a factor, then I'm not feeling as good about the Warriors Center tation. I think they might need to make another move So this is, I, think this is a really critical minicamp for hint. Because if he doesn't look good. The warriors seriously have to change their coach to the Aussies and a little bit. You know really factor into their decision making. I couldn't agree more and what you highlighted as wide as many campus, Oh court, right. So we the one I talked about a chemistry that's going to happen regardless them just spending time with one another you know that's going to go down. So the next upside of this many camp is information it's going to allow the warriors front. Office and the players to learn about each other learn about this team and that information right now, connor. Is I need needed. It is critical in the warriors are going into an off season were going to be making decisions that are going to impact this franchise the future, and we're talking at least within the next two decades. So the more they can learn about this team before they start making those calls the better right. You identified one source of information medical who is clay crews loon whose staff you know we didn't really get to see. Him last year who is Marquee Chris the way that we looked at him last year on a team that had no talent versus his role this year when we might really need shot blocking and rebounding and running is an entirely different thing. So they get to spend a week. It's not that much time. But if they get to spend a week watching these guys and not only figuring out individual skill sets who they are now. Finally night or an injury or following improvement. But also how they interact with one another, it's going to help them make decisions like who you go after with GP and who should you consider with the to Kanye trade down. So yeah, the the more time, Bob Myers, and the rest of that office gets to evaluate and put in information the debtor because they've shown. US generally speaking when they have the info, they make the right decision. Yeah and and. That's been the hard thing for them. I think during quarantine is the lack of information Bob Myers expressed after the draft lottery that you know it's a big deal that even though they've had all this time to study film and what have you of of draft prospects they don't have basic information on a lot of these guys though they don't have the medical information and and Bob Stress. He's like that is a huge deal. You know it is very possible that one of these guys has this like underlying knee issue that we're not aware of that win. Bassey. Affect our opinion of this person and our approach to the draft right so You know that I, think that's been a huge thing just. For them in general and definitely applies to this But you know health health stuff aside the Andrew. Wiggins. incorporations going to be really interesting because. They obviously got him. To play alongside staff Klay, they got him thinking that you know with the space day provide he could be really good as a rim running small forward who can you know curl up screens in and be a good member just in the flow of the offense they're not gonNA. Ask Him too much. They'RE GONNA ask him to you know hit close outs and second screens at knock-down Jumpers, and he did a pretty good job in his twelve game sample size last season with the warriors of being more of like that Go-to guy because they didn't really have a Lotta healthy body. So he was kind of their best scoring option. He I thought he did a good job of. Balancing that responsibility while also still being in sticking within the flow of the offense which was gonNA, which was something I was really watching closely because that's going to be what he asked to do next season with Steph, and clay, and so.

"The. Warriors Awkward The San Francisco Chronicle's in being podcast I'm your host Connor Letourneau today, I'm joined by brand hills host of the popular warriors held podcast with Golden State preparing for mini camp we looked at what the warriors to try to get out of these group practices. Bram thank you so much for joining me back on the PODCASTS. It hasn't been that long, but it feels like it has been. I've been alright. It does feel like it's been forever. Every day in independence is like dog years feels like it's seven eight days for normal days. So it's been a while and I've been okay man. Yeah that's good I. Mean I feel like? We're all going at different paces with with handling this. You know I know some people are getting their second or third wind right now no other people are really. Feeling it and I, know for me it feels like every other day I have a different I have a different mood about it. You know one day I'm like you know this isn't so bad the next day I'm like I'm so this can maintain a mood for an entire day your way better than me I switched to those moods about every twenty minutes and if I'm being transparent and honest with you, I did have a major change earlier. This week I, had would call the Klay Thompson Surgery I literally had my. My acl repaired and as a consequence, I'm on enough pain medications right now connor to kill a small horse. So if I just stopped making sense and entertaining, keep it if not let me know and I'll try to I'll try to bring everything back together. I appreciate you power throaty. So coming on the podcast when you might be a a looping is better, that's better entertainment, my books I know you're working as well. All right. So hopefully, your bosses are okay with that. I don't know if it's working or jess performing malpractice on day to day basis but you know, let's not let's not really explore that there's no up upside so that So I I wanted to chat with you today. We're minicamp because there was a ton of speculation, a ton of. For a long time about whether the warriors actually be able to pull this off and it looks like they are They started Cova testing this week everyone's kind of arriving into town. And then starting the following Monday, they will be quarantining for forty eight. Hours in a in a hotel near Chase Center and then starting next Wednesday they'll be starting a week long. MINICAMP where they'll be practicing daily and in kind of getting caught up to speed with everyone and you know the it'll be interesting because as far as I know, everyone's going to be there clay will be available kvant should be available We will be there and then they're also going to have a belief five. G. League guys guys. who were on the Santa Cruz warriors last year just to kind of I think mainly, just kinda round out the practice numbers and have some depth in the scrimmages and what have you but for a team that hasn't played. Basketball. A really even been together in any capacity since March. I think it's really important because we're we don't even know in next season starting. It's probably it's they announced the other day that it's not going to be after Christmas from what I've heard it could it might not be too like February. Maybe. Even March which I don't even want to. Fathom that right now or because that's just depressing a depressing thought but. The NBA is trying to maximize their chances of having actual fans. In the arena, so they're gonNA. They would ideally wait till there's a vaccine. That being said I mean without this Minicam they potentially an entire year without being around each other so It's I think it's extremely important. I think it's important to, and I know that most of the body of today's podcast is going to explore why were excited to have this some weird and someone who roots for him but a quick just follow up question because I know that the minicamp was coming but I don't know if logistics when they after they clear all these hurtles they get through. The quarantine, they get all the testing, then they show up to chase for that next week. Is it a bubble environment? Like are they literally staying together for seven days and not going back home or is it just like any other practice after they get through all the the Cova testing they'll be going back and forth from chase and back outside the white. House. Yeah there it's there. It is basically a bubble environment there. I don't think it's quite as intensive as what's going on in Orlando but basically the entire time they're going to be. Either in one hotel are one of two hotels right next to each other and they're going to be pretty much around each other. The entire weeks they're going to be having team dinners bussing together to the arena you know getting tested daily doing doing all that stuff it's not mandatory but as far as I know they do expect pretty much everyone be there that's not official yet, but that is the hope So I'm I'm doing actually a story later in the week that will get more into the logistics and I still have to do some reporting for that. So I don't have like every detail completely down but You know it'll be It'll be interesting to one person that might not be there is dream on his his his fiancee is You know pretty far along in her pregnancy and. I think I. Think Grandma needs to be pretty careful. So. I I wouldn't be I don't I don't think he's officially informed the team whether or not. He'll be there but I I wouldn't be shocked as he wasn't there for understandable reasons So. There's there's a lot to get to and I guess. Michael first question would be for you. Just what is the biggest thing you're going to be looking for from this? minicam. But what do you think should be number one on the warriors? Well, let me say just personally selfishly, I'm just excited to have warrior centric basketball stories in my life again I. I'm enjoying the bubble connor, I've been watching it you know non stop I can't wait for this final four but I also miss reading specifically about the waiters having you off of your hiatus and writing pieces again, it's been phenomenal and the idea that we actually have stuff to cover. Now I'm really excited for but as far specific, there's a few things I'm excited for the words, Opportunity.

"Why does teams Durant still lethal? Because when you had both staff and Durant on the court clay was free to run up. Picking was free to run off screens and fine open jumpers, and it was a lot harder to send double teams his way, and that sort of thing and you know I'm not convinced that in the modern NBA that today's NBA team. That is relying so heavily offensively. On staff in clay and then maybe doesn't have. That you know elite number, three or four option. Can't can they really contend for a title now? Andrew Wiggins is a guy who I think is going to be able to come in next season and averaged seventeen game, so he's. You know not a bad number three action at all but. you know he's no Kevin Durant. Right and that's the big when you talk about team needs right now for the summer. The loss of Kevin Durant I know we're a year after, but it still has. A huge hole to fill on this team and it doesn't get filled by Andrew. WIGGINS and it doesn't get filled by Klay. Thompson take another least. if he does like that is and his last season with the warriors I mean he was, he was shooting. You Know Nineteen Twenty Times per game scoring twenty seven points per game. That officiency is so hard to replace. That's why he's one of the greatest scores of all time. They're not going to replace that efficiency. What they what they can try to replace. Is the shot creation basically I mean? How many times did Kevin Durant belt? That offense over the years that was that was the ultimate utility of Kevin Durant right. When push comes to shove. You can bail out the offense. Now Steve Kerr's offense has to be even more on. A string has been more ball as they make shots even. Than it ever has, and that was always the strength of it, but it has to be better, and so when you look at what the warriors need. They need smart high basketball players who can create shots for Steph and play right, because if plays not gonNA create his own shot, and somebody else does for.

"I'm joined by longtime chronicle columnist. Scott who has been helping me out on the words beat again this season during our conversation. Scott and I went in depth on the NBA's historic decision to suspend games for at least a month. Scott were here on a Thursday evening in my humble abode and Alameda California and folders closer to our listeners. I've tried the past days to get podcasts up analyzing the big news that came out yesterday that the NBA is suspending at season. But first of all the first time was with Scott and that was mainly about the warriors plans to play what was supposed to be tonight in front of no fans against the nets and then the NBA came out announcing that the season has been suspended. So that whole podcast was basically a row it so we didn't post it and then two earlier today. I did a podcast with an Killian over the phone in my APP recording the podcast and work so Scott was nice enough to drive all the way from Arinda to Alameda. Sit Down and make sure that we wouldn't have any technical difficulties. I really appreciate it. Yeah and you know what if we record this podcast and then I'm driving home and find out. There's a meteor hurtling towards earth and destroy us all and renders. Our podcast irrelevant. I'm going to be really pissed off. Yeah that's the only reason because the podcast for like if you're dying in a car crash on your home you're going to be thinking podcast right. Exactly right yeah as the podcast everything. no jokes aside There have been some serious ramifications to the news yesterday they're extremely wide ranging and they've they vary in severity in terms of how big of a deal they are but when the news dropped yesterday that the League was suspending. Its operations indefinitely. Now we know it's going to be at least thirty days What was what was your reaction. I was stunned because this for the NBA was the first to drop this shoe. And that doesn't surprise me because I think Adam silver is really kind of a bold guy and if any was gonNA make that first move is going to be him so but shock me and it. Kinda pissed me off for one thing because I just written the column. Based on the warriors playing tonight being Thursday night a game against the Brooklyn Nets in a empty arena. And that was going to be cooling. Read my whole call. So I'm driving home and find out. They've canceled the whole season so my columns now irrelevant. I gotta have to rewrite the whole thing. So that was my first reaction houses affect me but but it it really kind of shocked me because it really It's one thing to play games in front of him in an empty arena but to to shut down all sees man. I've been watching sports for like a half century and that just doesn't happen. It's almost like a sacred thing. The world doesn't spend unless baseball basketball and football are played within certain seasons and without any time off so it was crazy. Yeah and you know the interesting thing about it is the worst or not the wires. The League really had no choice matter once. Rigo Bear Got Corona Virus. You know when when I'm finishing my story and I'm leaving the chase center and I see on TV that they're canceling the thunder jazz game because of something strange. Hasn't really come out. What the reason was I'm like okay? Something's about to drop then. We hear that really go. Bare has corona virus. And of course mind me. It's not as they thought they have to spend the league because once you actually have a name to to a player with corona virus it changes the whole dynamic changes the whole landscape everything. It's really easy to sit back in here about the numbers in here about the cases. Unless you actually know someone doesn't fully feel real and the fact that it was someone like really go bare someone who's a defensive player of the year all star caliber player. I think just makes it hit home. Not much more But in retrospect how silly is it that just a couple of days ago? We were complaining about the fact that we were getting our access restricted Milwaukee and here we are now writing about how the League is suspended indefinitely and not just the NBA but really every sporting league in throughout the country. Then simply tournament isn't going to happen which blows my mind. Probably the best forty event in America isn't going to happen and it kind of reminds you how naive we were because all it took was a couple people really one person at first to get it and then it changes everything and and now just given the numbers giving how much spreading the realizing that this is just the tip of the iceberg. This isn't a going away anytime soon. Why didn't we see this coming in? I think Adam silver did and probably other people. But we're thinking like you're thinking that just keep going on but obviously it was a matter of days not weeks or anything. Men are days before some got some guy in the NBA tested positive for this and it was going to have to be shut down time and they. It's not like these guys are immune to every disease so it was going to happen and we just but yet we were still blindsided by. It was just like Whoa. How can they shut the whole thing now? I'm still I'm still sort of weird. You know because I read stuff and basically we're all gonna be eventually be exposed to this stuff this virus and obviously the thing now is we want to extend this exposure Aso. We don't all get hit once with virus. Which would cause a lot of people to die? Necessarily and I probably be right in the forefront because the demographic of the people who are the perfect target for this little virus thing. But it's yeah we we should've seen it coming in. But it's and we have no idea now how long it's GonNa stay just kind of a a little aside the second person in the NBA. Get Corona virus was Don Mitchell. Who's obviously another all-star caliber player? This the other best player on the jazz and there were reports coming out that a lot of players were frustrated because apparently Rudy Gobert been kind of Cavalier. Now it handled the whole thing and obviously he made that joke couple of days ago after the press conference retouched every single recorder. And I'm friends with some of those jazz or beat writers and they're being quarantined and Oklahoma City now and so you know. They can't travel. They can't do anything and you know it's real people's lives are being affected by this and I store a couple months ago on Dob Mitchell's relationship with their Paschal and it was an exclusive type deal. I went to the jazz team. Hotel which I believe is the four seasons Down off market and I sat down with them. I sat down with them in the coughing. It's okay I'm okay. I sat down with them in like an auxiliary room at the hotel and I was told before walking in from the jazz. Pr staff you cannot be sick in any way like you can't be coughing. You can't be you know we can't have you in that close proximity with Donovan. If you're you know if you're if in any way health wise and it was because apparently Donovan is total Germaphobe. He is whole freak when it comes to that stuff and you know he had a he had. What's it called emergency yet? Emergency in his water bottle and he apparently does it all the time. Just to guard against you know getting sick and and. I was a little nervous because actually did have like a mild cough at that time until I didn't WanNa cough at all during our entire hour-long sit-down because I was worried freak out and get up and storm out of the room because I had said that I wasn't sick which I wasn't really sick but I was kind of like and so I really imagine how he feels he's like dude like I am the biggest Germaphobe ever. I'M BE NEAT freak. Ever and here I am with the corona virus. Okay by the way I wanna read this story in the paper because this is an interesting story and yet I did not know this until you just mentioned that. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw today that Donald Mitchell current virus I'm sure it's going to only. It's only going to exacerbate his his cleanliness. More as he gets healthy and gets the truth is hoping I think he'll be fine. I think repair find. They're in peak physical shape. I'm more worried about someone like Tom. Hanks who is around your age right and and yeah. That's right. He's an old guy. Rub It in buddy. Hey listen I'm worried about you and you folks. I've told Connor this the other day. I said if you were a person who wanted to get the corona virus the first thing you would do. Is you go out and get yourself a job as an NBA? Beat writer for newspaper. Has that if there's anybody's susceptible to getting any kind of sickness and viruses would be an NBA writer. You guys are constantly on the road. You're you're overworked. You run down your working Dan night. You're traveling you're in airports crowded arenas constantly your like neon sign in your head saying germs come and get me and So I don't even know him here doing this podcast with you. Frankly I was. I was joking with a friend of mine the other day and I was like if anyone's going to get the crow virus. It's GonNa be me and he was like he didn't even laugh. He was like yeah totally. It's GonNa be was like sweet all right. I'm glad we're glad we're in agreement about that. So but the weird thing about this situation is we. We don't have any answers. There's a story today. That basically said we have no idea what's going on. No one knows what's going on. There's a lot of questions we're just getting the point with our starting to maybe figure out what the question the right questions to ask our. This is so unprecedented. Nothing like this ever happened. A major professional sports history. The the League announced that you know they're not going to they're going to suspend operations for thirty days The all teams are barred from practising or doing any sort of group work out until at least March Sixteenth. They want teams and players to self quarantine especially the ones who came into contact with the jazz within the past week or two Luckily the warriors have not played the jazz since early January. They haven't even played anyone. Recently that played the jazz recently except for the wizards who played the Jazz on March First. So the wars are probably fine but you know you never know the worries are actually in the same position that we're all in where everyone kind of. Oh so they're all getting tested right. Well actually no. Because they can't find any testing kits they are getting tested on as symptomatic base. If you have any symptoms come in and get tested. But I was talking to someone today. "Couple and and and have you know as as building blocks because been affordable on those on those rookie contracts who who can help you in high level high stakes it's been a complete re revelation in these first five games he to me in that draft and he he's already proven to me at least that he so he came out of Villa Nova knows what he's doing makes a lot of good decisions I've been really impressed continued to be thrown in the fire and then Jordan pool who has shown tonight he had a pretty good game twelve points Evan from three the thing that I like about him is even when his shot hasn't in June as a rookie that says a lot and so I think they're excited about but I think you're right about pool and past And I think coming into competes sticks his nose in there so I think that's that's something to keep watching I think you're that'll be an interesting thing on a backtrack because that's all you now Hispanic so why don't we keep running offense so that they don't know interesting symbols he was he's been very insistent about that but he's at a point where to even be competitive in these games be playing next season it's weird it's a complicated system they're going to go forward with and one other thing that's interesting to me is that are least they're eight guys who have yet to prove that they belong to them belong at this level that they can play and really this is kind of one huge long last here take a fire me because because I belong you know guys you know you you name it market Marcus Chris haven't stuck or you know haven't really found their footing yet in the league and so should definitely have the motivation on on a personal level these guys are playing for their own lila prospect after who impassable is the next one that gets you excited Chris Women and grooming the young guys it's like okay but steph stayed healthy even von stay healthy all those guys those guys were still going to get major they going to do you just you just gotTa Kinda put a smile on your face and try to find some sort term solutions you know deeming early maybe he does enough recording earlier is Kendrick Nunn I'm sure everyone's seen what he's done so far year old rookie who's a couple years removed from Oakland University it was one of the best arguably the best player in the Warriors G. League team last season where a guy last season and I went to a couple of their games and I remember really strong physically a little undersized but you know you you Lhasa offseason they felt like you know that's not really what we need right now we have plenty of offense maybe he would have taken a two way if not definitely would've taken a a guaranteed contract under the warriors obviously get the closest look at them and it's clear that he can in Santa Cruz air miles spoken really highly of him in college which is why he was cut from the team at Illinois and ended up at but yeah I mean you hate to play that what if game I obviously has been downright underwhelming so far Marcus Chris I I don't know what happened to gene and I I'm not sure why that is what do you think it's I didn't know Chris Capacity we did and you're right the dribble handoff the between the we're almost always makes his decision on what you on the other end of the floor and so that's what I think is and suddenly the even though they still don't have combined the front were they were getting blown out permits the whole game which was weird to me I mean why don't you play everyone especially with Steve a lot of positives there's just it's nothing but the absolute peak of the NBA season going to work until June govern the finals and then you know fun get be.

"Senator discussed the aftermath of Friday's news that Steph curry will miss at least three months right next to the court being deconstructed here at chase sitter after the and because the news of the day prevailed and that was steph curry is going and had surgery this morning in La and he'll be out at least I talked to hand specials today she said that that's not own it was if it was on join if it was on a ligament or cassettes that's what the warriors are going to look like a lot this year I guess maybe the the I mean I remember showing up to media day a month ago playoffs I mean they have three all stars without clay and with friends say every day and then you show up the first day of training happen which is a major injury to staff we we've said all along it Steph even misses a couple of weeks condition that's affecting his hamstring and there is no clarity about how long he'll be out big minutes right now who's GonNa be out three weeks and then dream on green and I would guess that he's not GonNa play tomorrow against Charlotte so they have a and even before draymond had the finger injury he's already dealing with the back a knee in an IT forces everyone to recalibrate not just their expectations but just was the offense was totally different obviously without steph their entire so in kind of run a system similar to what wrestle ran last season in Brooklyn he's really struggled in his first four games playing off of staff had the worst was he was dominant for stretched to the game had a really good first half then Alec burks is going to be a nice score for them off the bench but I'm not sure you can can for de Ngelo Russell at the pick and roll so we're GONNA see a lot of that on the other end of the court they've easy on them as as they can so stark we different than what you've seen the last five years still has some firepower it's not going to be near the top of the league with without Steph so they need players outside of dream on in as you alluded to dream one's pretty banged up and team because Dan because Damian Lee who's a to a contract player did not play in the things right now that that he is enjoying the mentoring and he's trying to go slow with these young guys well and how much he enjoys kind of bring these young players along because he likes winning more than anything is a sore loser he's one of those competitive people live he is road I say we effing suck totally unprompted a little bit of I don't WanNa say he's acquiescing to the situation but he's I actually think in a lot of ways that this injury to staff if the if everything goes right they may be still playoff series if Klay Thompson comes back first round series for a franchise that has made the last five are totally tank and be in a position to get a top for one day they got Andrea doll trade with Memphis you have unhealthy clay and conceivably a healthy gansler Russell is not going to be fit with with with Steph and I saw nothing oh maybe it'd probably need to be a bigger package but there's a lot of honest talk because well all I'm saying here is that there are possibilities whereas this season there Oh middling teams around NBA that he can be go to guys still could they stay close enough to that eight spot in the playoffs for when Claes healthy and they're not playing for a playoff spot now it's a one I think that's that's exactly right and to you the key to this offense and we're gonNA try to play it that way now they have no choice now they have to play I'm Ben then he has good numbers he has great videotape to sell other teams and maybe plus a stock market crash an assassination attempt and a Martian invasion the focus now turns toward developing the young guys grooming them hopefully a.

"Agent, and he doesn't get any other offers. You just okay, okay. He's going to he's going to come back. He didn't get any other offers it and have to match anything coming back. But he got no offers and he's still not signing. And obviously a leverage move. I think it's some advice. He's getting from his agent of heard that he wants a two year deal and the warriors aren't willing to give him that because of how the salary cap, and what have you shapes up next year? But I gotta wonder how risky of move. This is at this point. Because you know, they had a great relationship until this. And you wondered does this take a toll on the goodwill? They've built to the warriors get to the point where like man, if you're not gonna you're not gonna sign we're getting into training camp here. We're just going to move on and find someone else. Yeah. Well, I don't know how many cards he's really holding as if he were to disappear forever. It'd be over that in a second. They would. I mean, it's as good as he looked two years ago last year, he regretted very bad injury. But you know, he's not a reliable outside shooter. He's a pretty good defender, but you can find wing defenders. He just. They're looking for. They're looking for for shots off the bench. They had one of the worst three-point percentage is off the bench in the league. Maybe it was at the last in the league and three point shots. Yeah. And so they're looking to Quinn cook. And hopefully Evans to do some of that, and they wouldn't expect that from McCaw..

"If he's kinda sitting situationally late in games because they want a better defender at how does he handle that as a guy who's probably never been benched at any point in his career? Those are a few things that I think are going to be. Interesting. But the reality is if he can just play a role defensively and take some of the work off of Durant and green and the regular season in that low post. And then if you look at it in the playoffs, he actually matches up pretty well with a couple of the guys that they probably are going to see in the finals, I'll Horford from Boston and dwell bead from Philly, I actually think he matches up well defensively against them. And I think that will be a really nice asset that they didn't have come, you know, potential finals matches. It was going to say, you know, it's he's coming into an era in which there aren't a lot of really high scoring centers. You know, it's all teams are teams are destroying the opposition from the outside now, and we saw that with Houston cappella does this thing, but I don't think appel A poses a huge threat to DeMarcus cousins in terms of his offense. And like you say guys like him bead, you know, he he can he can score. He's very raw. And in cousins, I think he'll have a big problem. I think just it just to kind of clog up the paint. You know, he's not going to have to be super agile trying to guard a, you know, Kareem or somebody who's used to devastating low post score because they don't really exist. He's one of the few. So I think that'll help him. He won't be asked to guard another center like him because there really aren't many. Yeah. And you know, this was obviously the biggest news from free agency. But free agencies not over you know, the warriors have thirteen guys on the books now for next season. I've been told that they wanna go into training camp with fourteen because they wanna have that fifteenth spot flexible for various reasons, and I think that's probably probably makes sense. So the big question is Patrick McCaw comeback. He he has a qualifying offer as far as I know he has not gotten a better offer that the warriors of. Had to match it's looking likely that he'll come back next season. And if he does I think he'll fill that fourteenth spot if he doesn't, you know, it's anyone's guess who ends up taking fourteen spot. David west still has made no formal announcement about whether or not he's gonna retire. I would be shocked at this point if he returned he has said publicly that he his two options. His personally his two options were come back to the warriors or retire doesn't look like he's coming back to the warriors. I would think he retires. And he's been coaching a you this summer, and it looks like he's kinda just transitioning into retirement. So that's definitely something to watch one one thing that kinda got some buzz this morning was DeMarcus cousins is wearing number zero which collars number zero. And everyone's like, oh does that mean not playing anymore? Well, no before before he even signed cousins went and talked to God said, hey, can I wear your number and they made some deal and cousins joked today that. That makasi. Good negotiator. So and then people in the film when I tweeted that people were tweeting. I mean, oh, so that means he's going back. It doesn't mean anything. It's just when you have a guy who's a restricted free agent. You he's still it's still technically as numbers. So you need to have a conversation with him. That's all it means. It's like, Marcus smart. No my God. The Celtics aren't in touch with me. Well, what's going to happen? Whereas you're gonna go. Well, he went back to the Celtics. All right on a nice deal. So I would like to see what cost with the warriors. I really like him. He's super athlete. He's good on defense. He's he's been shaken by the bad injury. And I think he didn't come back shooting as well as he had in his rookie year. But I don't know. I think the guy's got some stones. I think he's he's he's an NBA player. I think he would fit. Well, there maybe as a off the bench shooter. You know, a guy who can drill the three. I'm not sure I don't know where they were..
