"Friday morning. Welcome to a new month. December 1st, 2023. Increasing clouds as we head towards daybreak this overnight early morning. Still cold. Lower the 30s before we're done. We're at 88 in our nation's capital right now. Good morning to you. I'm Dean Lane. We thank you for taking us along for your early 1 a .m. hour ride. Topping the stories we're following for you locally this morning, we begin the ride with question. a Why was Maryland chosen over Virginia in the end for the new FBI headquarters? Well, that is a big issue right now and the GSA's Inspector General will take a closer look at it. A Virginia delegation of lawmakers claims that the process that led to Greenbelt, Maryland being selected over Springfield, Virginia, involved political interference and potential conflicts of interest and demanded the GSA's Inspector General look into it. In response to Virginia Senator Mark Warner, the acting Inspector General says the GSA will evaluate the selection process. While the Virginia delegation welcomed the news, a Maryland delegation of lawmakers says while some may not like the outcome, the GSA selection process was thorough and transparent. And ultimately, Senator Chris Van Hollen says, the FBI headquarters will be located in Greenbelt, Maryland. Mike Murillo, WTOP News. Hundreds of people filed into the ellipse this week Thursday on a cold night for the National Christmas Tree lighting. WTOP's Scott Gelman among them telling us this morning some people consider the event the official start of the holiday season each year. 5, 4, 3, 1. In front of hundreds of people here at the ellipse, President Joe Biden and the First Lady watched on as the National Christmas Tree lit up. The toll tree has presents underneath it remained and in place after wind knocked it down earlier this week. Heather says it's not just any tree. It's a very unique one especially the setting you know with the White House as the backdrop. Getting a coveted ticket meant a lot to Megan. We just moved here from Colorado. My husband's in the Air Force and so this is our first time being on the East Coast in DC. The ceremony will be televised next month and the park opens to the public on Saturday at the Ellipse. Scott Gelman, WTOP News. WTOP at 106. We turn now to an arrest this morning and a robbery spree locally in Northeast DC that happened along a popular trail for biking and jogging. There have been 18 robberies recently along the Metropolitan Branch Trail and DC police say they have now made an arrest. An 18 year old is in custody though a second suspect is still on the loose. In some instances they did have a weapon out so of these 18 robberies some were armed robberies. Often they stole cell phones forcing the victims to give their passcode and unlock their phone. DC police commander Sylvan Altieri. The trail is fairly isolated part of is the thing people use it at night and any city no matter where you live at night time when you get there can become a target. In the district, Nick Ionelli, WTOP News. WTOP at 107. A single parking space can cost developers up to $100 ,000. That is one of the many reasons locally Montgomery County Council members are considering now doing away with the parking requirement for new developments near public transportation. The theory behind a zoning text amendment is the parking requirements at developments close to Metro and Transit could cut the cost to consumers. Council member Andrew Friedson. The question that we have to ask in many cases is would you rather have asphalt or more housing? Council member Gabe Albornoz says when you look at our Gen Z population there's been a precipitous decline in interest in securing driver's licenses at the age of 16. We're going through this in my house right now. But member council Sidney Katz warned flexibility has to be part of the proposal. We have to figure out where a person in the who's trades, where a person who's a carpenter are going to park their truck. A hearing on the zoning text amendment is planned for January 16th. "I'd like to do an intro, but I can barely see, because Murph's face looks like the surface of the sun. Yeah, baby. I got a little color. I got my vitamin D today. You got your vitamin S for sunburn, man. Let's see. Can't tell from my arms. Yeah, my arms. Ah, a little bit. You got a little bit. Anyway, hey, guys. Welcome to Episode 122, Game of Crimes. I am Morgan. This is... Murph. Hey, everybody. What were you doing? Just before... I mean, we're recording this on a Sunday, because I was tied up all week, and I'll tell you about that in a second, but you were doing something pretty awesome. You sent me a video. Oh, yeah. We got to go to the Orlando Air Show, and the stars were the Air Force Thunderbirds. I haven't seen them since I was a kid. I've seen the Blue Angels several times, but I haven't seen them since I was a kid in Tennessee. But just going to the Air Show just makes you so frickin' proud of our military and what they can do. They had an F -35 there that just... Oh, my gosh. It was a lady pilot, and she had that thing. I mean, she could turn that thing on a dime. She's come through at symphersonic speeds. They didn't break the sound barrier, because they didn't want to hurt everybody's ears, but when she would come through, you know how you get that vapor coming off the jet? Yeah. We got some pictures of that coming through. Then they had the F -18 Super Hornet with those things, screams as well. They brought that thing through at less than 100 miles an hour, and it was kind of almost at a 45 -degree angle, like it was dancing in front of you, and that engine was just screaming, just growling at you. And then the Thunderbirds, twice, you get focused in on the four main diamond formation, and then one of them will sneak up behind you and just scream through at about a bazillion miles an hour and just make you crap your pants. The second time, you know, that's the first time everybody laughs, and then everybody's watching. Well, then all of a sudden, he sneaks in again and gets you a second time, and that one I even ducked when he came through. Tell you what, it makes you think twice. If you want to be a bad guy or girl out there or a terrorist, it's like death from above, man. Oh, my gosh. It just makes you so freaking proud of our military. It really does. I can see why they do that. Yeah. Well, I had an exciting weekend. I wasn't going quite as fast, though. Yeah? No, I did. It's called the Great Pumpkin Ride. I did 64 miles. They had a 24 -49 and a 64, so I did the 64 -mile ride. Where did you have to go for that? Down in Warrenton. So Fauquier County, beautiful. It was a perfect day. Temperatures started out at about 65, went up to 80. It's peak color. It was just beautiful riding through there. It was a fun time. It's been a while because of COVID and everything else. I was supposed to do some century rides, 100 -mile rides. This one's called a metric century. It's 64 miles. But you voluntarily rode 64 miles on a bike? Damn skippy, man. Can you sit down in a regular chair right now? What do you think I'm doing? I'm bouncing around. I'm fun. Hey, it's like anything else. It's like firearms. Anything else. If you just train, you train, you train. So this was fun, though. I just got my bike back. I had it all completely worked over, new gears, the whole work. So it's like this thing was brand new. It was great to go out there and ride. It was fun, though. There's lots of people out there. It's a good time. But what was funny is all these people that you start off, it's like one thing I've learned at my age, it's kind of like no need for speed, man, just steady state. Just keep going. All these young whippersnappers who go flying past you, I ended up passing a lot of them towards the end as they're just dragging ass because they were trying to impress everybody and I'm going steady state. I averaged about 17 miles an hour. It was 2 ,800 feet of climb going down and up. One of the hills, if you're into biking, was 8%. That was a bitch, I'm telling you. And to go through all that and come home with biker's ass. No, I tell you what, I got some good new bibs, you know what they call bibs and stuff. So it's all good anyway, but here we are pontificating about that when we need to get to our facility. But this was just a fun weekend. You had fun. It was.

Evangelism on SermonAudio
A highlight from God's Plan for World Evangelism (part 2)
"Mark 16 if you will, please mark chapter 16 Now, you know, we have preached the first part of this message. And of course I was away last weekend and so We're going to bring you part two This morning by God's grace. And of course, the main thought is God's plan for world evangelization God's plan some for some of you You've been involved in faith promise for a number of years But let just let me warn you about something we get sometimes really familiar with something We need to say well, I know all about that well, maybe there's something the Holy Spirit might say to you and So just be open to what God would have you to do. Okay, but we know God's plan And that brings me to the question that I asked when we started for the first part Why in the world is your church here Was it here is it a beautiful building beautiful property? We have people slow down and Even have people come in and take pictures of your church I haven't seen the one in a while, but there have been people over the years and one lady I'll never forget. She said I don't think in course where it's located and here on the highway I don't know whether she was local or traveling through but she said this is one beautiful property right here And she's walked around taking pictures of the church and I thought maybe we might make whatever but anyway We thank God for our church. But why is it here? Why is this building? Why is the property here? Why? Why this? It's here because of God's direction I Don't know any simpler way to say it and 1973 me and my wife and two children moved to Warrenton March 13th and God has blessed we've had a high attendance here of 636 we had people sitting on the platform. I wish you still like that today But I'm still doing the right thing. Our church is still doing the right thing. Oh, yeah, we took a lick from COVID There's no doubt about that but We keep trying Occupy till I come the Lord tells us and so that's what we're going to do By the grace of God and then that's why we are here now Every Christian should be thoroughly familiar with the great missionary command that runs through the Old and New Testaments for that matter command that clearly outlines God's plan for world Evangelization Basing our story on this passage of Scripture and I'm only using one using one verse this morning and Mark 16 15 and he said unto them go ye into all the world and preach the gospel To every creature. It's important to notice that these words are spoken by the Lord himself He's given this a great command to us this Commission you might call it for the glory of God and to and his parting command Command to his followers was go to all the world it related to the present dispensation of grace of which you and I are living right now and it's of course Just as binding now as it was the day he gave it Great Commission and if you lose sight of that matter of fact, let me use another word I think he used last time but burden burden vision Desire to see people come to know the Lord Here at home and around the world for that matter So we need the vision for all the world every creature So our Lord's command every creature a Christian is to engage in a program and let me say it again of worldwide evangelization We've already given to you For things that we would was of course a part of God's plan and number one the plan for preaching the gospel of course is to every creature every creature and their soul saved through the ministry of your church and through this program of faith promise Giving around the world because we wouldn't be able to do that.

A backlog of passport applications led to big delays in getting passports for some folks, including some who wound up missing trips. Now the State Department says there is some good news when it comes to the wait times. We were able to reduce our passport processing times by two weeks. That means now you'll see an eight to eleven week delay in normal passport requests in five to seven weeks for an expedited passport. Matt Piers, Director of Passport Services at the State Department says what led to the big slowdown. A very high demand level for passports. We're following police direction and has been stopped this long. Now the outer loop is slowed through land and working toward the Baltimore Washington Parkway for reasons yet to be determined, but now is the time for mobile work zones to be out and about. The beltway in both directions in Virginia, heavy and slow to get to and past Georgetown pike exit 44, they're working on the outer loop. They will be blocking a left lane and heading north on the inner loop. You'll find the right lane closed, both sides of the George Washington Parkway planned work between one 23 and the beltway, you would stay right to get by there definitely northbound with a delay. Both sides of 95 in Virginia, they are working in your slow to get two and three Dale City, southbound and real left lane actually in both directions here, the left lane will be blocked northbound jammed out of dumfries getting past the Dale City truck scales. Getting more difficult on the beltway in Silver Spring on the ITER loop, heavy and slow now. The crash is after university boulevard as you be with airbags and blocking a center lane, but police and fire rescue arriving on scene blocking more lanes than that now on the interloop of the beltway beyond university boulevard, our big story in Maryland is the jackknife truck crash in Chevrolet, en route 50 eastbound, heading after kettleworx avenue and toward Columbia park road. You're only getting by the cleanup single file down the right shoulder. Outbound delays on New York avenue in D.C. two 95 are extensive at the at Acosta river bridges, major delays because of this truck crash in Chevrolet on 50. Sunny Summer Citrus
"Samantha. Thank you so much for joining us today. I'm so excited to talk with you about these citrus oils. Now I'm excited to talk with you too. There are some amazing oil that we have so. I know a lot of people think of Setris when they think of summer. It's fun and it's bright and of course the taste and the smells remind us of summer but what are some things to be aware of when using citrus oils topically especially during the summertime? Like you said oils are great. They you know we have that bright fresh smell also great topically for certain uses however it's important to be careful where you apply them most such as well as have compounds that can cause UV sensitivity basically means skin is more sensitive to the sun and UV. Rays for myself. In the summer I personally don't use many citrus loyals topically unless it's at night or if I absolutely have to and then I make sure underclothing things like that right absolutely so we do have to be a little bit. More careful about where we're applying citrus oils but what makes them a great companion during the summertime. They are fantastic. I love combining said shows or something to ground them it really just brightens refreshes the atmosphere. That you're in one of my favorite diffuser blends to us is wild orange green monitoring grapefruit. Hawaiian Angela just a few drops of each of those. It's so refreshing uplifting whether that's during the summer or as things get kinda cooler in the fall that sounds like it would smell amazing. That's definitely won. The I want to try now I recommend so does. Tara has quite a few sicher soil. Some people may be really familiar with some. They might not have tried. Before and so they're kind of a few different categories maybe that we could put these citrus into the first one would be the sweeter citrus says things like wild orange. Or Tangerine what are some of your favorite uses I the sweeter citrus oils. While warrenton kettering arm I go to as an addition to my water bottle to drinking water. I love the sweet taste like you mentioned. They really are in that sweet category and it helps me drink more water throughout the day. Be More mindful about the water that I'm drinking. Plus there. Those emotional benefits that we love from citress loyals absolutely and the internal cleansing as well that can come with citrus oils. That's amazing and I think you're absolutely right. Sometimes it's hard to get in all the water that we need to especially when it's hot and we need a little bit of extra water that taste of that sweet citrus can be such a good companion. Yeah it's a great motivated drink. More for sure. So the next category would be kind of the tangy citrus oils. Things like lemon lime burgum. Oh Green Mandarin and grapefruit. What are some of your favorite ways to use these oils internally? Some lemon lime are my favorite goto oils cooking. Especially in the summer. I use these in Salsas guacamole along with a little bit of Cilantro oil for both the tastes and the internal benefits like you mentioned about the internal cleansing and internal emotional benefits. We can get from those oils. Ooh those in a guacamole would be so fresh and then you don't have to worry about having the fresh ingredients around the house exactly it's divine. So what are some other ways that I could incorporate these funds citrus oils around the house? So we all know. soils are ideal oils for cleaning. But if for me if I ever need to use a harsher cleaner to remove stubborn stain Soaps gone. I really like to add a few drops of grapefruit and lemon in the bottle cleaner. It adds a bright fresh aroma. Kinda cuts that harsh cleaner. If I really have to use some things a little heavier but also helps soclean stubborn surface ads and it boosts cleaning benefits. Also lemon mix with some retain makes for great would cleaner. That's awesome for you. Know would tables but as always test the oils? You're using a small inconspicuous area before just to make sure you're not going to damage your surface. Because some of the finishes can be a little touchy to to these citrus oils. Those are great ideas in such a good alternative to some of the harsh chemicals that we would bring into our house otherwise for that cleaning and different things. Yeah Yeah. It's definitely your alternatives. So the last category that I think we could lump these citrus oils into is kind of the bright citrus oils and these two are the citrus lens that we have the citrus bliss and doe Tara Cheer as part of our product marketing team. You know you have some experience with the creation of these oils. The thought behind creating these two essential oil blends as bliss is simply inspired by an orange cream sickle. When you smell that you really get that vanilla ice cream in that sweet. Tang you orange. We wanted to create a fresh summary. Blend that still reminded us that you know simpler days in the San Juan joying sweet classic ice cream treat diffuse it smells just like an orange cream cycle and then as part of the emotional therapy program cheer actually. Combined Citizen Spices which is on that emotional therapy wheel. And they've been shown to inspire optimism while uplifting attitude and so you mentioned fusing and you mentioned the emotional benefits with the cheer. How can you utilize the citrus blends every day in your life? I feel like suggest. Bliss is amazing diffused from spring all through summer. I also like to put a few drops on a paper towel. Then put that the bottom of my garbage bin. I found it helps of any unpleasant smells can kinda kick so smells and then cheer is one of my favorites from the emotional therapy line. Actually it's the one that I I- diffuse whenever I need a different type of such a splint. The spices actually perfectly complemented suggest profile. So I generally use it late summer to fall to warm up the house. A bit with those spices while still keeping it fresh energize having citrus aroma. That you love in the summer
