Fresh update on "wanamaker" discussed on The Bill Simmons Podcast

"Three to four things. Oh, Boston can't really dribble. Let's take advantage of that. Oh, if Pritchard's in the game, let's do everything we can to just get butler, ice out on him. Top of the key and let butler do some stuff. Let's be super physical with Tatum. Let's overplay that little entry pass to the top of the key with our weak side guy and hop that. They won't think to back to it. I think the Celtics will have adjustments to all of this. The big thing for me is smart didn't play. The Horford thing, they could replace his minutes, especially in this series with Tyson rob Williams and be okay. But the smart thing, now you lose, you can't switch on everything with Tatum and Brown and smart. All of a sudden, Miami's just hunting Pritchard KSC. Did you get Kemba Walker? Bubble 2020 flashbacks? Little 100%, 100%. I mean, that's what hero did in that game for when he had 37 points against the Celtics in the bubble. It was just Kemba. Wanamaker over and over and over again and yeah, we did see Miami hunt quite a bit like that and that fashion. And that's where having. You play prichard 30 minutes and of course he had some great moments on offense, but what you lose on defense, it's clear how much they were missing Marcus smart tonight's game. And I agree with you more so than Horford and plus not to mention, you have Tatum Brown taking the ball up the floor more often and you lose smart in that sense too. A bit more of a reliable guy to help initiate the offense. Jimmy Butler, 18 free throws. Felt like the right amount. He was creating contact all the time. We have a rational confidence stars Priscilla. He's the irrational confident superstar. I watched this game thinking Jimmy Butler was probably pissed off for the last two weeks that he had to hear about the Jayson Tatum party. I was like, oh wait, just wait till I get to go head to head against Tatum. Felt like he had a little extra to him. And Tatum reverted back to that little brother in 2018, 1920. You know, he wasn't matching it like he did with Durant and Giannis. And I don't know whether to be alarmed by that or it's just the new series. What do you think? I do think we're getting almost insane about Tatum when we're updating his Hall of Fame resume. Every 12 minutes. So if you'll allow me to make that statement, I can move on from there because the first the first half, some of the shots Tatum was making. I was like, are you kidding me with hip right now? Like, this is ridiculous what Tatum is doing. And when they were up, I'm like, look, I like Celtics. I like their offensive options here. I thought that the standard that they had played to, which much higher than what Miami had gone up again, so that kind of baked into my first two rounds of trying to figure out who butler was, but butler, who got a lot of love a couple of years ago for that playoff run, deservedly so if you look at some of the advanced metrics on who he was, his PER, if I just want to use that one, it was a 23.8. Going into tonight through ten playoff games, butler's PER is over 31, which is like MVP type stuff. If you're talking about a full regular season, and it's going to go up even more so. And I think you're absolutely right about the free throws. The knee Smith won, where he got the block at the end of the first half and then butler just beat him right into it. He had the most dismissive look, like this he barely plays. He just gets the sick chase down block. He's like, you might as well not even like I was going to the line. So there's a little bit in there like grant Williams is slowly becoming, if you close out, you can't go for the first up fake guy because it's becoming so predictable. The way a bead had that for a while in his game for like two years. That hitch that hit she had that top of the key three where you'd be like, stop going for the first movement on it. Grant has a little of that in him. It may need a little refresher course on Jimmy because his is quicker and he gets into you and it's, you know, other guys get into you and it feels forced. He still gets into you and gets the contact. You don't feel like you're getting as cheated as bad. So he's going to get his free throws, but you could just be a little bit more ready for that update. But I think one of the things you guys keep hitting on here, Pritchard getting hunted at the end on the Gabe Vincent assignment, they did a really good job of actually getting Tatum back. You don't see that very often. Where the guy who gets screened into the switch flip flop back. Yeah, and then they switch it where they try to get Derek white involved, and then I think he backed Derek white down from 23 feet out. You know, that third quarter was really bad, man. I wouldn't have expected that. A loss without smart and horror for first game in rest. Okay, yeah. But I think that third quarter was like awful. Well, you know how bad it was? It was the second worst quarter in self exploration history, apparently. -25, the only one that was worse for them was game two, cabs, 2017, second quarter that got outscored 40, 13. They shot two for 15 in the third quarter, which goldsberry said was their worst in any quarter over the last four seasons. The first half, goldsberry also said they had 42 paint points, which was their most of the half in the last 25 seasons. So when you were watching the first half, it's like, man, too big. There's too many for this Miami team. Those dump downs are rob Williams because you're helping with Tatum and every time they outscore them, I think by like 16 or 20. And then you thinking like Horford's coming back, like the size is gonna be great. And then the other thing, just as Celtics fan, but it was just so nice to have you on us out there. I felt such a relief just that just not to have this.

The Long History of Credit

"Idea of credit has a very long history. the code of hammurabi one of the oldest systems of laws in the world has sections on how to deal with credit it put maximum interest rates on loans of grain and silver credit. Was something that was usually done in a very personal basis. The ability to extend credit to someone was dependent upon your relationship with them and your trust in them. In fact the word credit comes from middle french and it was originally used to mean belief or faith. If you extend credit to someone it is literally a belief in the ability of that person to pay you back. This is the way the credit worked for centuries. An individual store would extend credit to individual customers based on their relationship and trust this sort of system might still exist someplace like a pub or a bar where regular might a tab that they pay at the end of the month. The system of individual lines of credit being established for individual customers by individual businesses was very inefficient. The process of making credit more efficient was begun in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries with major department stores like macy's wanamaker's their wealthiest customers didn't wanna handle money directly so they were given paper cards or brass tokens that they could present at checkout. The cashier would then make note of the purchases and a customer would then get a statement at the end of the month. This form of credit wasn't intended to be alone. Like many credit cards are today. The amount had to be paid in full at the end of every month. What this system had over previous systems is that the individual cashier didn't need to know the person who presented the token the store would issue the token and any employee could then accept it in one thousand nine hundred eighty five. The charger plate system was unveiled by the charger plate. Group out of new york. It was a rectangular metallic plate. That was about the size of a dog tag and like a dog tag. It had embossed letters showing the name and address of the customer. In most cases the metal plates were kept at the store rather than enhance the customer. They were then pulled out when the customer made a purchase. This certainly made processing paperwork. Easier and again. It wasn't advance but the system still only worked at a single store.

"Are we going to see that in the post season? That's why even if you don't think they're gonna make it to the finals, you got to give them an outside shot. So even you know, the discussion on your favorite place to discuss basketball on Twitter has dwelt a lot about steps minutes and watching that game against Brooklyn. Let's see what Katie and James Harden and Kyrie comeback in against Brad Wanamaker and Andrew Wiggins just Looks like that was it. That was pretty much the game. Where do you Where do you come down on What Steve should do with steps minutes to the recent alterations to the recent rotation switches or are you do you see what he's trying to accomplish, and they need to stick it out. I'm fine with the minutes. I think at this stage in steps career given that he's not the most durable players given that he's not the biggest of players I think around. 33 is fine. And people can quibble that it should come here should come there. Um, and maybe sometimes Steve should ride it out when they have a chance to win the game. I get all that. I just think that overall, what's happening is so much better than a coach who burns a player out that it's almost not worth obsessing over and we all know they're not going to win a championship. They should be trying to get to the playoffs. That should be the goal. But if they miss it, I just don't think it's the end of the world. I think what matters is keeping Steph Curry fresh. Not bringing him out having him still being elite player When you get clay Thompson back and another draft pick back next season, I think what's tough about it, and I understand what the fans feel and what they're talking about. But I agree with you and thinking this is a big picture. Long term thing. You want to run Steph into the ground and played more, you know, put more miles on his legs than most guys do. Go into five straight NBA finals. On missing a lot of last season, but I'm looking at the bench. And I'm going. You know Brad Wanamaker fill in those minutes. Michael Boulder filling those minutes. Motor's okay as a shooter, obviously and came. Baseball has been nice off the bench, but in spelling Steph, do you think they're You're gonna need somebody else or something else there. Yeah. Yeah, They need somebody to come or capably run the offense. I mean that they needed that for so long. They often miss that and that's what they need. I need to make another point on stuff, though, Which is yeah, Fans are more minutes from him. But one of his minutes is not the same as another guy's minute. He plays one of the most tiring brands of basketball. Offensively in the league. He never stops moving. It's not the same. Some of these guys, they take possessions off, you'll see what's what von Braun Windows has said that that one of the reasons LeBron is able to pace himself. If he does take possessions off. Would you pass the ball and you kind of stand there in your way for things, then fold stuff is going going going off so many screens. It's all the more reason to protect him. That's all the more reason why 33 minutes works. But you're you're right about that. That That the problem isn't staffing problems themselves. Minutes. The problem is the roster, The supporting master and the inability to find a guy to run the offense in his absence. I mean, I'm watchin Jared Jack in the D League do really well and I'm thinking about man with 13. I just miss hearing his name called by the P A. Rich. Yeah. Who's your rather Jerry Jacker? Jeremy Lin, who you take it. Dear Jack. Man, Getting back at mid range is crazy. Are you ready to offer up your public apology to Kelly? You break who is shooting 45% from three over his last eight games. I mean, that's great. They're going to start guarding them. So that's that's great. That's a great She's like, Wow, they might actually start playing defense. Although there's like 41%. How many times was he guarded? And that? Yeah. I mean, it's It's a great development for the Warriors. I still think I just don't know of the style of play really matches with the Warriors, Theo and maybe because you know these things for dynamic you. You play a lot of games, things change. Maybe he's going to get into that flow. What they do a little bit better over time. I'm not writing off the possibility of it. Um, but, yeah, I don't. I don't necessarily see a massive shift in the approach. There's still a lot of early shot clock three pointers off the dribble three pointers. Um, I guess he's really feeling himself in that way. And it just doesn't seem like a long term fit to me. Is there a scenario where he's traded to the deadline this year? There could be And maybe this is the best thing for them is that they need somebody to really spells staff. As you're saying, And maybe you Bray is starting to play better. And some of these nationally televised games. The Warriors are on a lot of them. I mean, they were on the last two ABC Primetime games, and they're often on these cable games. So a good Kelly, you great performance goes a long way. I could see that that could make a lot of sense. I'm with you, though. I say. Get Jared Jack here, man. I'm sort of being that 1000% onboard with the Jerry Jacks. That's new does not miss from the mid round. Then I'm in in the veteran presence. He could run the offense off the bench. Me perfect would be perfect. Oh, there, Ethan. We appreciate the time today, man. Next time, Marcus and I feel it will definitely give you the call. Hey, do you know even wrote a book? It's called Victor Machine. Yeah. Adam. Colin did not know. I wrote he didn't know I wrote Golden. He was like, Did you write a book on Steph? I'm just making sure he knows you wrote a book. Your daughter didn't even read the book, but she knew I wrote it. Victory machine. Check it out by your address. It's a quarantine dream. Thanks so much. Thanks A lot. "Ah, being the small boy couldn't have because Chris wasn't hurt. Once Chris got her. You had to improvise a little bit, and then he just it was a small ball center. And he's not afraid to take that mid range shot. Occasional Take it three strong enough to get to the rim. He's strong enough to ah to battle some other big players and that you know what Today's NBA is just different. You don't get a guard post up players because nobody posts up. It's got a bill to keep him off the keep up the glass, and he does a reasonable job with that, But you know who you're looking for scoring in that second unit. He's been able to provide some of that scoring. Scoring punch That will be interesting to see who picks up that slack form tonight, But that's that. That's you know, obviously, there are bigger players on the team. And I mean steps. The biggest lose him. You're in deep trouble. We saw what they were without dream on. That wasn't good Wiggins and playing really well, But after that, Put your finger there. What do you got Blueberry on that second team, Tom Because I was just thinking you break clearly, just me. He's obviously better than what he's shown here, especially shooting the basketball. And it just seems like I don't know. Maybe maybe if he'd be a liberated playing with the second unit a little bit more, but you need to scoring and he's not scoring. Yeah, and he's a Lord. You need him to go to the rim a little bit, But he's not doing that enough. Look at that second unit from behind three that second unit has Lee Ann and Molder. And Wanamaker and those guys, They've got a couple shooters there. It's almost like they could use him, Tito, you know, to penetrate a little bit. Well, I like him in psych unit. Just do that Second unit gets out runs a little bit. And that's where he is at its best in the open court. Uh, yeah, He's not a shooter. They don't have a lot of shooting. Uh, in that second unit. That leaves a really good shooter. I mean, leaves a guy that when you leave him open I expected to make it. I mean, that's that. That's how 50% from three right now. Yeah, and I'll tell you something. This is that that blew me away. And it didn't. It didn't get any better last game, either the Warriors going in the last game, and I think they're right around there after looking up again tonight. Uh, our 19th..

"I kind of feel like we might want to find somebody. Maybe we could talk about. Who were the kind of a reunion tinge later on But that's only completely. Can you think of other things that maybe the celtics we'll be looking for. I mean anyone is olive reading content would be ideal sir. I do think that i should have mention this. Before wanamaker prichard pritchard's like a better version of wanamaker's whether ob so and i think they saw brad and danny said on draft night they got it made it sound like they're expecting pitcher to come in and probably play what wanamaker's role is supposed to be. I mean don't forget wanamaker. When they originally brought him in the people forget wanamaker is on the minimum like he was not he. He was basically the seventh man on the hoster last year. The dude was supposed to be back into the roster player. it's so he had he had released step up. I thought he did a solid job for sure even if he is a relatively unremarkable player. He certainly isn't very seti player. Pritchard is kind of the same thing. He's not he's not going to be like super flash she's not going to be making incredible passes running amazing pick and rolls hitting tons of crazy shots that dude. It's gonna be a release steady. Excuse me said he big site. Good size point thirties. Solid well-built sicklets. Two which used to be a big point guard. But i guess probably an advocate credit. These days of all the guys handle the ball. You know when you're gonna drive the behind lamelo ball is like six hundred eight hundred point. You don't seem that big anymore at six to in well-built but that's by winemaker. Was like six. Four hundred buildings a pretty big pun carpet. So it'd be that guy that gives them the steady hands that can run but basic options can spread the floor attack in drive and kick all that kind of stuff and he's incredibly confident and obviously has great winning Resumes well and they know that he loves you really thrives under significant pressure. So i think that. That's that like that solves. What could have been a need right there. You know i think there was. There was a need for a backup point guard. That could actually do something with the ball. And i think the between richard potentially giving them more capability to wanamaker gave them trauma waters advancing and other year. Who's a very very crafty exciting. Flashy point guard and then just Who am i forgetting right now. It's actually of course in other words. I think they have the they have enough of what they need..

"Capital in our studio 93 Boston a run to end the opening quarter tops doubled, sent it to the left side Wanamaker drives and kicks. Tatum gets a good look at a three and it's in actually job by Wanamaker. Steady demeanor is just so good for this team spread, say cops. And, actually, as it turns out, Brad Wanamaker's the only self think of eight who played and did not score. Talent scoring Boston by nine. We make the turn of the second quarter back to Orlando, 31 42 with PJ Carlesimo. Doris Park. Here's Marquess T shirt. All right. Four minutes for Gordon Hayward on that first quarter run, endorse. It looks like he's going to start the second quarter as well here for Brad Stevens, but you love what he gave him in the minute she played number one, touched the paint on the drive plate and pick and roll at the free throw line Jump shot. And again, I think the point is critical. He moves it quickly. So on the catch if he doesn't have a drive just makes the next pass off drive. He's not going to force a shot. When Brad was talking to Rachel Nichols made the point that that first one was going to be the tough one for Gordon to catch his breath. Boston has the vault open the second quarter, Wanamaker sends it to Hayward. Corner three is a Miss Canner got a hand on it, but Miami controls Tyler hero Goran Dragic's Andrea Gondola, along with Derrick Jones Jr and Kelly Olynyk on the floor in black for Miami, down nine their largest deficit of three dragons has it about 10 FT. Beyond the three point line, with seven shoot, guarded by Walker. Goes to the left tracks to get to the baseline with three drug it turns puts it up. No good. Canter clears his front court Kemba. Lisa Tatum, Wanamaker Hayward on the floor ears Gordon from the left corner drives by hero. It's good look, a 15 footer that Mrs picked out a gondola with it for Miami Dragon will bring it from left to right. Finds a gondola cutting to the baseline pass totaling now, hero has it hoping in a way you're attempting to his Tatum hero inside shot out there. Tanner has Back and forth. We go both teams looking for their first points a minute 10 into the second level, Walker passed down low Wanamaker amongst the trees, sports it up. No good as he's fouled, Olympic was on his back, and Wanamaker will shoot a pair. Miami has shown that they love to double team either Kemba Walker or Jason Tatum. Any time they can out of pick and rolls with dribble handoffs. Kevin did a good thing that he created some space any wave for the double team to go away from. They didn't stay on top of him, and once it went away, he found Brad Wanamaker underneath and it's interesting when they happen. Sometimes I feel like he's completely Swallowed up there, like his body almost disappears between the size out front. That's the difference, and it's not just the fight off Miami. It's the length. They've got Both things they get the long arms and really aggressive. Be interesting. Bam out of bio just checked in. We'll see Elena Standard fares against him is the free throws go down for the Celtics and Brad Wanamaker. 33 22 lead Boston. It's going to be pick and roll for bio guarantee that 15 into the second quarter. Tyler he relies on top of the three point line bio sets a screen pass it out back to Herot tend to shoot out of bio screen hero just inside the ark jumper is good deep to Tyler hero 33 20 for Boston's lead cut to nine Walker out on top right side. Gordon Hayward first game since Game one. Around one passes. It's a Walker dreams, a triple about a step beyond the line cameras. Three game looking good out of the gates. 36 24 2 minutes into the second past dangerous is caught by hero launches the three and connects Jason Tatum took himself out of the play, gambled on a cross court pass and left wide open for the shot zone again second possession in a row 23 zone with big top on Walker going inside to Ennis, who slings it over the left shoulder. Mrs. Rebounded by bio will bring it up floor trailing by nine Goran Dragic's using Andromeda Bio hits out of bio down the left post walled off past the corner. Jones Jr for three, connects Miami Within six. Austin's gotten good shots, both possessions but at his cancer was unable to finish inside his own so effective against Boston in the Siri's Hayward will send it to want to make your pass out on top tip by gondola into the backcourt out of bounds of Boston will keep with a suit. I like this line up for Boston, though, against his own. He's got four playmakers around the perimeter. All guys beat their matchup. I'm waiting for Jason Tatum going on the offensive end to six and one for four from three and testing to dynamite looks from three dead off the inbound. Tatum passed down low for Wanamaker went off the foot of a Miami defender. Kickball shot clock set to 14 now Daniel Thais will come to get his cantor actually did a pretty good job. A couple of times against ABI didn't hurt him on the defensive. And surprisingly, what he didn't do was finish inside. He had two opportunities to finish inside was unable to do it. Marcus Smart also coming on the floor. Marcus has to get it going. He's got three points so far. 905 go first quarter 36 to 32nd quarter rather Here's take him out of the right wing drive to the baseline. Right short jumper. Good for Jason Tatum Celtics by eight. That's what doors was talking about His big break that kick and got 14 seconds Does otherwise that had very little time drug It's gets to the free throw line, jumps it up. Short rebound, Walker turns the other way. Walker accelerates by Crowder gets Take Lefty layup Good where those subtle screens in transition. Ty sealed the lane allowed Kimber to get to the raft point. Celtic League hero hits another triple from the left wing 29 to go in the half hero instant offense off the bench. He has scored double figures in every game with a postseason. He's got 10 here was going at Jason Taylor. Tatum gets out of bio stripped from behind by Crowder Transition. Miami Herald pulls up for three hits Timeout BOSTON As they heat get within four Tyler hero buries another one. Turnover gets Miami going there Struggling, They lose hero twice. Jason Tatum loses him twice under Wing that he turns the ball over and hero on the move. Knox that's three down from the top off the bench. Three triples 13 points. Boston's leads. Still, at four is we go to break the Celtics? 40 the heat 36, where they tend to go first half you're listening to the Eastern Conference finals on ESPN Radio and the ESPN APP presented by indeed..

"Are performance of the week goes to the Joker Ever since the Nuggets were down 31 all he's done. Castiel, PJ. 56.28 boards. Travis's Game seven against the Clippers as soon as we're done back to you in Orlando. Looking forward to that one will watch it with everybody else over on ESPN television. Can't wait. I can't wait for that Syriza start. However they're playing. Jeff Van Gundy wants to rename him. Not the joke of the Yolk said. How's his name? You okay? I like it. Marcus Smart in the game. First time. Second quarter, his passes stolen by Duncan Robinson, who was down earlier with two fouls up ahead. Duncan Robinson, Right wing. Three missed it, but it's an offensive board for Butler. Reload. Robinson Corner triple is good. Jimmy Butler got him a shot in transition. Going to try and get the second year man going. Got the rebound got him another shot Well to run seven of 10 shooting in the second quarter for Miami there with him to Brad Wanamaker driving Duncan Deepa whistle is Butler came over on Duncan or Butler. It's on. Duncan will be his third. I think Butler, but he could go either way. No, I think he's got a lot of fingers up to Jimmy, five and five. So Duncan will pick up number. 32 had him down on the bench for most of the first quarter. Brad Stevens was effusive in his praise of Duncan Robinson, as the first of two free throws goes in for Brad Wanamaker. Duncan Robinson is going to sit down, he said. He's Like Steph Curry and Damian Lillard, in the best three point shooter in the league, said the best three point shooter in the league, not named career. Lillard. So you got a couple out of the curry family. But still and he's right when he shoots it. You expected to win every time he's obviously having trouble staying on the floor tonight. Two free throws bread Wanamaker Boston's lead backto 4 6.5 to go second quarter drug. It's with Tyler Heroes back in by the way, replacing Duncan Robinson. Short rest go to drug. It's in the left corner. He'll shoot the three over Jalen Brown and knocks at home. Miami got their sea legs here in the second quarter back within one. Not that he's an unknown, but I think playing In the conference finals. The national exposure A lot of people don't appreciate how good a player Goran Dragic's is and has been here's Jason Tatum. Outstanding. First quarter spans floats. No. Tried to tap it up. Won't get it. Miami got a little power play here. Five on four Hero thought about 3. FT. Butler found gets it up gets it in. Jimmy Butler Quiet here in game number one chance in a three point play. As Miami has taken the lead, it's hard to imagine either these teams getting away from the other. Miami. Interestingly enough in the beginning just couldn't finish inside. They're doing a much better job right now. They started 3 10 night for 18. So there's six of their last ate into paint. That's about what you should be that close to the basket. Miami have their first lead of the game one of the Eastern Conference finals. Butler misses the free throw 84% this year. And it stays a 39 38 Miami lead Celtics Within 5 50 left in the first half. Robert Williams back on the floor big for Boston gives it upto Wanamaker Wanamaker drives in the lake. It's a nice seal from Williams and throws it up. Slap Williams five. Going back. You should have just moved the defense out of the way. 40 39 Celtics back in front Kendrick Nunn with it out of the left. Past outer bios chip by smart and that a bio grabs it from bio drives finds Butler open left wing three is good. Miami 42 40 lead I'd look for Boss to Marcus. Smart. Had a steel deflected it up in the air, and they couldn't come up with the ball left Jimmy Butler wide open. There's Tatum, driving down to the baseline, right shot nearly blocked by out of bio able to slip it in the basket. 15 1st half points for Jason Tatum. Tied at 42. None catching shoot right wing three. No. Williams taps it on the rebound. Jalen Brown Brown accelerated. The three point line spins behind the screen of water maker takes out of bio double covered. Had it blocked and knocked away gondola coming out to help out a bio. Here's Andre on the other end, trying to get a pass down low. His man didn't cut it was saved. Boston, and then he knocked it off the leg of Butler out of bounds. But Boston I'll have it tested. Nothing comes easy for either team. These teams they're so quick to the ball. There's so many deflections and guys grabbing at shooters were trying to strip or blocked. The shot is really hard to play against these two defense's Wanamaker fouled as he drives down the lane got knocked across the baseline will shoot a pair here. 4 35 to go in the second quarter. Miami Heat we mentioned had the lowest first quarter of their playoff run with 18 points. They were three for nine. From distance. Four for 63 pointers here in the second quarter so far makes a big difference. But again, it's funny after watching the Boston Toronto Siri's Again.

"Because he played good medicine that game before uh, it turned into a blowout. So I wanted to take the garbage time. I was saying in person garbage team, right? Yeah. Garlic sauce. Yes. He played 3 minutes against Miami mean almost 10 minutes against Toronto only only two minutes against against Memphis. So you did, know, right it was the under we were hoping that maybe one of either him or her Chamois would break out a little bit. I think it's fair to say neither of them did in this in works with our next one which was yours you're over running over under and the 3-point shooting percentage for the Celtics game on core. And basically we said ties shammy Grant and I missed anyone there. I guess want to make her yeah winemaker Thirty 35% was the number. I think they pretty much took over and meet eyes. It's 6 to 15 just 40% you know, I mean, think finished maybe 1229. I know he put up a put up a bunch today, but I think you know the non-core has has shot. All right. They've they've been tremendous to be honest outside mean usually less so but Wanamaker and Rob Williams have been a two of the best players for the Celtics during these eight games in the bubble. Just straight up with Wanamaker. I think he's leading the team in true shooting with like seventy 1% Robbery games has barely missed. He's twenty-two of 26 from the field down there granted. Most of those are dunks that they're in but he added a couple of jump shots to which I'm not sure if the coaching staff it's crazy that he's taking those jump shots to get a birth story. But the fact of the matter is they want to maker was kind of up and down during the year, but this is the best version of of Wanamaker and you he doesn't need to initiate the offense now on the second year and he like smart. Is the primary ball-handler there now, so he's just there to hit threes and you know provide that secondary creation on like the swing and stuff which is really good at and so with having enough three is off and socially hitting respectful number three is I mean to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if perhaps even just goes eight deep into his bench. Anyway.

Will virtual reality films ever go mainstream?

"This marketplace podcast is brought to you by vast a global cybersecurity company trusted by over four hundred million people avast is dedicated to protect you online. So you can connect to the internet confidently avast keeping the world safe from cyber attacks. Visit them at a vast dot com. Moviemakers are still trying to find out if virtual reality works for movies from American public media. This is marketplace tech demystifying the digital economy. I'm Molly would. The Tribeca film festival is happening in New York City and this year, it features more than thirty virtual reality movies slash experiences for both movie fans and future be our filmmakers to check out virtual reality films are becoming a bit of a festival mainstay since Oculus brought its first production to Sundance back in two thousand fifteen but VR movies still aren't anywhere near the mainstream. Marketplace tech producers Stephanie us went to the Tribeca film festival to see how some filmmakers still believe in the magic of VR watching a movie in virtual reality involves a lot of stuff being against the headset. When you want it does it you just move it up and down the Lamar Tate is stationed outside the VR film. The key at the terrific film festival. Audience members go in one at a time the standard small dark room, but they're not alone. There is a live actor at all times inside of the room with you. They might touch you just for safety reasons to keep you away from. The walls you might run into walls. Because when you're in the film, you can't see the real world, you're truly immersed and the characters are prompting to walk around with. I want to remember where the key comes from. And what it needs. Maybe you can help me. I think VR is an incredible medium shoe creates memories. It's trike heart is the director of the key which is meant to convey in sort of a dream Lakeway. What it's like to be a refugee we want people to feel like this leap through the journey themselves. But trekker police it for VR to take off the headsets have to get cheaper and people have to well, put them on a friend of the tech. My parents, for example, it was like. You know, and I really had to walk like, I was very insistent newly to learning Tribeca offers VR as part of its immersive film track. Lauren Hammonds is a festival Curators festivals. Play an important part in the ecosystem of launching this work. So the idea of LBJ or location based entertainment is so important to getting audiences. Getting is on this work as part of a long tradition. I'm getting used to innovations in film, like when Thomas Edison's movie, the great train robbery came out in nineteen zero three motion pictures were very new and film historian. Marc Wanamaker describes how one audience member reacted to an actor breaking the fourth wall. George barnes. Who was the star of the great train robbery turns toward the the audience. Pulls his gun looks at the audience and pulls the trigger and then someone in the audience stood up and shot back. But it didn't matter that movie in ended up being a hit VR still waiting for its blockbuster. That's marketplace. Tech producers Stephanie Hughes, we'll see if any studio deals come out of Tribeca. But last year at Sundance of ER distribution company bought a three part virtual reality space series for one point four million dollars and later released it for Oculus. So there's some money out there. And now for some related lakes. There's an interesting piece in wired about the Tribeca festival and these big immersive installations, they're trying out this year with a live actors like Stephanie mentioned it suggests that maybe the future for VR movies is actually more like a museum piece a real world experience where you enter a virtual worlds instead of entering a virtual world alone in your basement with a five hundred dollar headset, which is all very interesting. But it also shows you just how far away we are from figuring out how this medium is supposed to work wired also has a story from earlier this month about not mixing bleed and virtual reality, which seems like a good PSA, you'll find both of those links at our website marketplace tech org, and look it might feel like VR is a slow roller. But I found a research report in the motley fool Tuesday that said it generated three point six billion dollars as an industry in twenty eighteen super data research estimates that number could be. Sixteen billion dollars by twenty twenty two. So yeah, companies are still at it. In fact, Facebook announced Tuesday that it's releasing its standalone Oculus headset. The Oculus quest on may twenty first the quest needs. No, computer or game console to operate. It costs four hundred bucks, and it will launch with over fifty games. Maybe this'll be the one I'm Ali would. And that's marketplace tech. This is a PM. Caroline in Brooklyn, New York wrote to tell us, she's a longtime fan of marketplace, tech and appreciates the content and the mission thinks Caroline to join her in keeping marketplace tech going strong, donate online today at marketplace dot org, and thanks to Carolina and all the marketplace. It's episode two of short season videos. We're doing for the next month or so, so if you're driving out for brisk run and can't see your screen. It might be a good time to switch to the next episode in your feet. Okay. Enjoy. The world. Most of us have known as been a price tag world. Everything has a price one price. But if you take the long view, that's bizarre aberration. For a long time. We lived in world where customers and shopkeepers haggled over most transactions. And there's a good reason things were like that if a customer needed a lower price on something they do their research. They I bet I can get a good price off these suckers and spend the time making their case to the clerk. But if a rich person thought time is money, I'm too busy to waste my time. Haggling they pay more not to haggle everyone paid what they thought was reasonable and the shopkeepers made a profit everybody wants, that's the way things were for centuries and just about everyone accepted, everyone except the Quakers. The Quakers thought charging different people different prices for the same thing was morally wrong. So the did this radical thing in a Quaker store they said each item has one price the price is just the price and it was a moral stance. But they were ahead of the times economically to see in the eighteen hundreds businesses started getting bigger and bigger and high going got to be a hassle for the stores and the customers. Princeton's? It took years to train clerks to work in haggling stores. When you own your own store knew everything you need in order to haggle. But when you add help, it takes time to learn, you know, how much you paid for the stuff you're selling how much other people are selling it for how to stand your ground on your price or else you're going to get totally ripped off. So clerk spent years learning and training, which was costly to the shopkeepers and intern probably drove up the prices. Bit higher than I thought that's all the finally around eighteen seventy a few people took the plunge and broke from the haggle world. They took the Quaker idea of one price one step further and invented the price tag. But little piece of paper. That tells you the final price, and it wasn't about fairness anymore. It was about building really big stores. There were two stories that especially pioneered the price tag. Maybe you've heard of them. Macy's in New York and Wanamaker's and Philadelphia Macy was a Quaker and the Wanamaker wasn't. He was trying to build a store in Quaker country, Philadelphia, and he became a price tag evangelist. He felt it was the fair thing to do. It was good for hiring. And it was good for the customer to know more arm wrestling, every time you wanted to buy something and customers loved it. The price tags spread until it was everywhere. And from that day on we lived in a price tag. World everything has one price, except I guess if Uber surging. Tell us what you think about these videos.
