Nfl becomes with high super caliber superstar quarterbacks wanting out of their russell wilson is somebody you would never think whatever asked to be traded or moved or anything other than go hawks matthew stafford we thought he was potential gonna die on a football field while wearing alliance jersey because he would never ever come out and say hey. This is not for me anymore. Okay i would like to potentially go on and have success somewhere because when legacies are talked about hall of fames or talked about. NFL Honors: Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson announced as 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year

"But it's also a weekend where some top NFL honors of the year have been announced for me. Abed Buffet of Coma Sports says there's a Seahawk player among these honors. Russell Wilson is the epitome of what you want from a franchise player. No, he's never won the M v P, But he's a great athlete and an even better person. At the NFL honors, the league recognized that Wilson's value stretches far beyond The white lines. Russell Wilson was named the Walter Payton, NFL Man of the year for his charitable acts and excellent on and off the field with the help of his wife, Sierra Wilson, and the Why not You foundation donated one million meals to feeding America's food lifeline. In October, Wilson announced their latest efforts of starting the Why not You Academy who will be a charter school set to open next fall for the award, Wilson will receive $290,000. Go towards the white, not you Foundation. 2020 was the most difficult times of history, losing a sports icon like Kobe in a movie star and Chadwick witnessing losing George Floyd. Right in front of her eyes. A modern Briana and so many others the loss of so many because of this monster of a pandemic called Covert 19. We've lost so many things, but, Dad, I wish you were here. You to tell the world love changes things. Wilson is the second Seahawk to win the award after Steve Largent in 1988 and rightfully so. The list of contributions include partnering with the United Way's United Last Mile campaign, which is delivered 860,000 miles across King County, along with wine that you foundation Wilson has also helped raise more than $9 million for pediatric cancer research to go along. The hundreds of patients he's visited at the Seattle Children's Hospital since coming to the northwest and 2012 and this past fall he joined I am of voter to encourage voter registration. Nationwide. You got cut November 17th. So when did they vote before that? Apparently wow. It. Is that not does that not typify the Jets season? Yeah, yeah. What a nightmare. Are you surprised? Adam Gaze is still It has a job. Or is there no point to get respond? There's no point now They're going to fire a match of the season. Right? So there's no point in going through that charade. I'm quite certain they've already started. Reaching out to potential replacements. You hear all sorts of names interesting that You know, we have talked about Jim Harbaugh. And the NFL being interested in hardball. Mike Florio pro football talk. Put that out there that there were you no more than a couple of clubs that would be interested. Um, but that was disputed last night. Bye. Yeah. Bye. Uh oh, man, Who's the insider on CBS? Bald headed dude. Jay Glazer, Jay Glazer. Came out and I don't know if this is a thing with him, Mike Florio or not. I just said, I'm not hearing any of that. There have been there has been no interest from NFL teams before. Why would there be interest this year? When Michigan's playing the way their plan so interesting. He shot down that whole thing that Harbaugh, the next move was gonna be automatic right back into the NFL. So it sounds like the Michigan job really hurt his brand. The job that he did a Michigan hurt his brand. Maybe so, according to Jay Glazer. Yeah, maybe so. From the 303522. Maybe it was a guy in drag. It's hard to tell the difference sometimes. "Passing away today. He of course Legend with the Chicago Bears great running back. He was the guy when it came to running backs until Walter Payton came along terrific running back for many years in the sixties and early seventies passed away today, and he was of course immortalized in the movie that featured Billy Dee Williams playing Gale Sayers and James Caan playing Brian Piccolo and that was a whole story of Brian wage below and and shares. Will Chicago Bears at the time best friends a black guy and a white guy at a time when you know racism was super rampant. It's still with us obviously dead. "Listen, I And I told you this before, and you never took it for granted at any time. But like Walter was always around the facility. Not every day but was always there and then all, Walter was on the sidelines for the majority of the games. And like he treated me the same way he would have treated like Neil Anderson or Mongo. Like in a matter of you were the 53rd guy on the roster. You were the number one guy on the roster. Walter was always there to kind of pick you up when you were down or congratulate you when things were going well, so like Walter was around more than probably any of the other greats. So you were always in awe. But then Dick Butkus would be around at times. And then you'd go to functions will where Gale Sayers was was a part of different events like to go to a golf tournament and be at that golf tournament where the George Bland With with Dick Butkus with Gale Sayers with Walter Payton. "We were wrong," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says

"Today at about commissioner Roger Goodell and took to Twitter with a surprising message in which she expressed regret for the NFL not doing a better job on speaking up on behalf of players when it came to issues of police brutality and racism we the National Football League condemn racism in the systematic oppression of black people with the National Football League commit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out peacefully protest read the National Football League believe black lives matter I personally protest with you and want to be part of a much needed change in this country I'm within the last hour saints quarterback drew Brees released in this letter to president trump on his Instagram page when she tells them that the issues at hand or not about the American flag but rather about injustices against African Americans he wrote we have the white community need to listen and learn from the pain and suffering of our black communities we must acknowledge the problems identified the solutions and then put this into action the black community can not do it alone this will require all of us no G. P. I. E. I think a lot of people really surprised the here some of the things that drew Brees has said he's sort of taken some of them back please apologise now he's addressing the president what are your opinions on it all well from the beginning more and I have a lot of respect the Jew breezes he's a future former Walter Payton man of the year award winner bye he would if he was off the mark when he made those comments and just with the time that we're in right now Indian office markets sets all things but the one thing is is that we're starting to see him come back and make these apologies and hopefully moving forward you know not just his words with actions I want to see actions are to resume with the NFL as well to hear Roger Goodell and the NFL step up that's good on their end as well you know they have the social justice reform groups and all the stuff that they're doing what we have to see more action and in those comments from Roger Goodell there was no sorry to Colin Capra Nick so I want to see that maybe men that relationship as well but I think it steps in the right direction for not only drew Brees but also for the

"Thirty four Walter Payton sweetness and then she says twenty four Ken Griffey junior now that's interesting because many people would say twenty fourth Kobe Bryant but still depending upon your perspective certainly you can have multiple iconic athletes who wore that same number so G. eat out look at thirty four for Walter Payton I paged out a little bit to another tweet it's thirty four Houston Earl Campbell Akeem Olajuwon Nolan Ryan Earl Campbell better might be of that conversation we had with Wade Phillips earlier this week where he told a story about his dad **** Phillips and careful if the coke which if you haven't heard that conversation I'm still getting tweets and Facebook posts and even emails from those of you who are absolutely loved that saw the interview with with coach Phillips he's so good all of our interviews are podcast that separately after hours Amy Lawrence dot com and then we put the links up on Twitter and Facebook as well I conic uniform numbers that's what we're asking John does point out that Kareem Abdul Jabbar also were thirty three but for me it was Larry Bird okay how about Lawrence Taylor Christopher said number fifty six Lawrence Taylor Dave how do you feel about that one as an iconic uniform number I mean it's it I think if you're a giants fan sure I have but I don't think that it fits the the the question I don't think the first thing that you think of when you see here that number says Lawrence Taylor all right so do you have a few that stick with you because you are much more of a uniform number kind of sore than I am I don't know but I think it's when you're not a fan of that particular player or even that sport and you still recognize the number I think Jordan is always going to be the out liar doesn't matter who else wears that number what else you're doing I think that is the one number that sticks with you but I think they're Jeter even though I'm a Yankee fan I think most people recognize number two is there Jeter for for NASCAR I think there's two numbers I think of is Dale Earnhardt number three I think a number twenty four for Jeff Gordon personally I just I'm not a huge NASCAR fan but I think that over Kobe Bryant it's it's see I think one number can share multiple people or model people can share number I mean I personally think of Willie Mays Kobe Bryant and Jeff Gordon for that number yes someone is is not a NASCAR fan for to stick out for Jeff Gordon specifically that's the point for me at least it's I think it's funny when you've got people who oppose uniform numbers that they're arguing over which uniform number or which guy war which uniform number so we have some people that I should know this is going to happen with some people who are claiming this guy wore this number but the same guy you know another post same guy were different yeah I think you're gonna get that a lot with more like somebody called to say Bobby Orr he was from you know that area of the country but then other people could say Lou Gehrig other people can say Brett farmer so I think it it definitely depends on you know.

Eli Manning and the Hall of Fame: The case for and against

"Ally manning thing announced his retirement on Wednesday retiring after sixteen seasons. He's thirty nine years old The giants quarterback who was of course supplanted by Danny dimes. This year but was a rock for for many years is now heads into retirement and it makes sense Meena In fact as a New York I all my friends are giant spans. I was on a tax change just the day before this news broke. And we're talking about that. Allies GonNA retire probably soon. Because when you look at the landscape with all these older quarterbacks on the market and what allies allies been doing the last couple of years. It never made sense that he was going to find a place to start games or perhaps he didn't want to be a backup. So this all made sense but still it. It is the end of an era in New York. I would love nothing more to come in here and defy I. I think what you all know. I'm about to say about Eli Manning I should not be wh- down calls US football cools right. Yeah I would love to say you know what guys you can't tell the story of football without Eli Manning which by the way why why is he the only person who gets that benefit say that about anyone else other than Eli. There's a lot of guys you can't tell the story of football without Aaron Hernandez put them in the hall of fame or if you want to look at pat super we were both. I mean they don't want any of them without dont`a hightower that's a holiday thing. Greg is compared. Eli Manning to know first. Ten Sahal Hyphen reductionist could be just one thing. You consider about a candidate quite well the few want ally in the holly. It's either two cases. One one is longevity. which is I think? A lot of people throw out. Because there's just too many guys who would get in by that and then the other is the two super bowls in the story thing. That's just not about how I would define it. It just becomes an argument. About how do you define the hall of fame. I think in my case against him has always been and yeah. I've been making this case for probably eight or nine years. So this is how long he's been average He's just been averaged entire career. Average in completion percentage yards per attempt. He's actually really way. Below average in the law of the interception categories passer rating these average. He's just for the time he entered the league to the time he left the league. He was an average quarterback over or that span. I I still don't like that being the conversation though when he retired. I we've had this argument so many times that I think we're just tired of it like we've said everything that there is to say about. Eli Manning in the Hall of Famer Eli Manning in general that. I actually was annoyed almost yesterday that that's the conversation when a really great player who was a big part of the league in you know no matter whether he was a top five quarterback no he never was maybe in two two thousand eleven. I went through it once. I think I had him at a top five quarterback one year top ten quarterback only one other your. Yeah that's not the hall of fame but like immediately the second he retires. The entire conversation is like the start of the public hall of fame. Talk which is GONNA be. Never any people are so confident about what's going to happen you don't I know what's going to happen becoming. We were like you know he will be in. It's like you don't know that I think the manning name like this is not a new thought but just that we've talked about royalty and stuff that he's sort of this. NFL Family fixture that. The people voting for this. I think they're gonNa Push Eli Manning right in not maybe. CBS voters down. The conversation depends on who he's against. Though you're really does. Conversation will be never ending for five years then going in. I'm sorry I don't listen you. Everybody discounts counting stats and cory will get too caught up or only point at the two rings and the two superbowl. MVP's but I just think there's something that'd be so if he didn't win those super bowls he's he's not he's not going to have him. I get that but there's something to be said and it's always been feel overlooked both on this podcast aspect in general. Because Eli can be a target. I feel like on twitter that the giants drafted him or the chargers. Technically but the giants Brought him into the team in two thousand four. They put him in the lineup in around October that year and then they never had to think about the quarterback position again for the next ten eleven eleven twelve years and I know things didn't end very well but they should have been thinking about it so when you're when you're talking about right ten years okay I'm GonNa say ten years when you think about other teams about your Brown's Mark My jets so many other teams in the league that go through constant search a churn looking for a guy and you end up with a stop. Stopgap and a rookie. You stinks and then a stop Gat and then another rookie. And maybe you hit on something. Like the SEAHAWKS got Russell Wilson. They don't have to think about anything. Russell Wilson's a better player than the but he eli for ten twelve years. They put him in there. He did his job. He was not spectacular but he was steady. You never had to worry about him getting hurt because he never did. He's the most durable the player ever. You'd never had to worry about him saying stupid something stupid to the media. He always handled that very well. You never had to worry about him. Getting into like a behind the scenes drama with with a coach and exploding and him being at odds and using the media to get a point across and all that stuff he was a Walter Payton Man of the year guy he was a total title. Good Dude and in those playoff runs. Then you factor that in for me. He rose up in historic way. And then just beat. Anybody didn't beat the Jacksonville. We'll jaguars didn't beat a Pittsburgh. steelers heat the Patriots and he'd be Bill Bell Check and he'd beat Tom Brady. And if if that's not something that should be given added points knowing who the Patriots are and what they represent in this era of NFL football. I'm sorry I disagreed to just kind of view that uh-huh yeah beat the Patriots. No he beat the greatest team of all time the greatest quarterback in the greatest head coach. I think that means a lot. His team did right playing. Okay Ah in that Super Bowl. I don't think he would say he had the best game. Even the play he's known for is crazy play. That could never be replicated. The two twenty eleven run is what I remember most fondly. Va Man. I think people kind of forget that won the last game of the regular season that they played it was against the cowboys and then the three league games in the NFC playoffs and that Super Bowl he had a collection of some of the most improbable. Low percentage awesome throws goes for five weeks. Stretch that you'll ever see Joe flacco kind of had a somewhat similar run any add little moments like that the year after they won the Super Bowl two thousand eight. He was really good throughout the year but they didn't win the Super Bowl because if eli manning they want it because of their defense I mean they wanna because of Justin Tuck and he learned of it. It's equally reductive to me to say. They won because of the argue he was part of it took to get into the. I mean the kind of connected back to the HIGHTOWER. No one's out here making a case for hightower you kind of do you. You like to throw this one in. I is the single most important outside of Brady and Gronk like the Patriots. Don't have this run of Super Bulls without dont`a hightower. I think I don't think belongs in the hall of fame but you could every all of the cases were making for. Eli You could just as easily make for like twenty other other random playwright quarterback a case you've made for you. I think is the case. Why he's a great memorable? NFL figure. It's just that's different than in. Our weather also talked about about it forever his position he was not a top ten quarterback. I would say for every year but two of his career. There's no one in the hall of fame you can say they've also said forever. You're in West. You've quoted Vince Lombardi on this that the quarterback it just the most important for a position or a position where the spotlight as and that comes with way. More pressure To it then dot high tower where his position is. I just think what you I was able to do in that spot in those two years is something you can't take away from. I and and say oh he was carried to titles. Because I don't I just don't see it that way. I think you've you stated the case very well. I think it falls shy of the hall of fame. I think if you're a jets fan like Dan or you're the browns fan and you've seen nothing but Ship wrecked chaos at the quarterback position. That the the idea that you would draft someone who would play as Eli did before a PR stunt got him benched you know. Couple of years twelve years of sixteen starts and by the way we are stunned. Got Him benched. He got himself well. That's fine but I'm saying but also the disrespect I just giants fan and you draft draft Philip rivers and he. He did what he did. But you get Eli Manning out of it and you know. He's going to win two super bowls in essentially a total ironman at the position. He's a hall of fame to a lot of giants fans I get. "We've been talking about you I manning is going to announce his retirement tomorrow from the New York giants a lot of debates going to be going on for the next five years or so where you I ranked does he hall of Famer Ballot and so on Roger Goodell just tweeted this a moment ago statement about your manning leaves an indelible imprint on the New York giants fans and the NFL his passion for the game intense preparation ability to rise to the occasion. Where the hallmarks of his career holds a special place in history? Not just for hoisting the Lombardi trophy and being named Super Bowl. MVP twice ice but for how he transcended the game with the way cared himself around teammates media and most importantly fans. That's one of the many reasons he was named. Walter Payton Man of the year on on the field and in the community he was a champion. He was also a true competitor and held himself to the highest standard in everything he did. We know he'll carry that same spirit with with him into the future. I got the same statement sent to me from the NFL network Assignment desk you missed one line at the end. Can I read it. The last line for Chris Brockman Rochman thinks. I'll never send out the same thing when Tom Brady retires. But just watch. That's what it says right here. It's amazing that he would include like the Commissioner of the NFL gladys spell. My the name right and I don't think he will do the same thing for absolutely absolutely the same thing for. He thinks Tom Brady lied about to do the same thing about. Tom Thinks he smashes phone. It's okay it's all right we can disagree on this. Why does Tom Brady always have to be brought the Lon manning and I just brought it up because that's what you brought up in the commercial break and I noticed that you were holding? You're you're you're holding your horses right there and I still want their. I didn't think you were going to God. They didn't. I thought that was an affair.

"Talk. Erica, Walker not in sterling. I guess he's in for the reality check Thursday nights work. Get it straight. He'll take your diet tonight. It was two years ago. Tonight, scooter Ginette turned in what I believe is the greatest single game performance of any Cincinnati sports athlete. The first reds player ever to hit four home runs in a game. The first player in major league history to produce a game of five hits four homers in ten RBI's, so leading to this question. Is it the greatest single game performance by Cincinnati athlete? What other performances would make the list not a performance of a season of a week or even consecutive games, but one single game Tom Brennan through perfect gate. One of twenty three in the history of baseball. There have been sixteen. No hitters in the history of the reds franchise. So it can't be that, that can't be the single anybody's no hitter. If there have been sixteen of them three homerun games, that's happened. Thirty five times, including Derek Dietrich earlier this year. It, it can't be that Corey Dillon Corey Dillon rush for two hundred and seventy eight yards. Then NFL record versus the Broncos in October of nineteen ninety nine and he had a touchdown run at sixty five yards one a forty one yards the forty one yard or the last five minutes of the game put him ahead, a Walter Payton. Gunnar keel. Mhm gunner Kiel, the former number one rated high school quarterback recruit in the country playing his first game in one thousand and twenty nine days after transferring Notre Dame said an F B S record with six touchdowns in his college debut for the Bearcats I was there it was Paul Brown stadium. They were playing there that year during renovation September twelfth of twenty fourteen gutter keel on the list, the Mageean other UC quarterback would be on the list, big day target of this one. Hayden more freshman at the time he torched Memphis for five hundred fifty seven yards and four touchdowns in September of twenty fifteen. He'd come off the bench to replace injured, gunner Kiel. That's on the list. That's not greater single game performance than scooter Janette, but it makes the list I'd put the big O on that list scoring sixty two verses North Texas state in February of nineteen sixty. I would put Kenyon Martin on this list. The eventual number one, pick in the country will wield. I say the number two ranked Bearcats to a seventeen point comeback win over to Paul. It was the get Kenyon the ball game. They were down ten with three forty to go in the game. He scored four straight baskets. He scored the final ten to end the game. He scored twenty one of his thirty three in the second half. They were playing without a suspended. Pete. Michael. I would put David west on that list forty seven for the musketeers with eighteen rebounds to beat Dayton at cintas center in February of two thousand three he was fifteen twenty six from the field. He was sixteen of nineteen from the line, I'll give you another one. Perhaps, I have a greater appreciation. Well, I'm not gonna say that. I think there's if there's an understanding there's an appreciation of the significance in the performance. Mitch hildebrandt. Mitch. Hildebrandt goalkeeper FC, Cincinnati, his US open Cup performance versus the MLS fire was June twenty eight of twenty seven t eighteen seventy. The F C Cincinnati goalkeeper stood on his head that night thirty two thousand fans at Nipper national TV audience, clean sheet, and turns back three penalty kicks my family watched it from a condo in Hilton Head. We, we stood ensured as a family as he stopped the third one in sealed the win. What else? Anybody? Five one three seven four nine seven thousand eight hundred the big one pound seven hundred on AT and T. I think scooter tops this list, I can fill it in from there. But if you're talking about the greatest single game performance by Cincinnati sports.

"Told me one time was the leading score in bears history. While I just. Thrilled to be there. Kevin Butler is the one that got shamed here. So all right. I'm looking at it right now because I saw dollar said, he wants fifteen waddled, which would be hilarious. I'll go with one Waddell for one dollar. I would go with kill Khalil Mack. So that's I'm up to five now, I take a Devin Hester. No, I'll take Walter Payton. So I'm at ten and then you can go Mitch Indica. That's a good. Yeah. I need a quarterback. We love the best part about the whole list was as Richard dent top ten bear. Mike ditka. Talk ten bear are were two dollars. But Mitch Trubisky to Rico now and Robinson are worth three dollars. You there, who the, the bears of today. Yeah. Fifteen waddles versus three Walter Payton who wins that football game. Ooh. How about fifteen waddles for seven dick in. Be. There is one Waddell on the dick A-Team team blows that. The most July your June radio episode. Mount Rushmore right? I love it. You know, the seven dick team would cut that Waddell from their team. And four times as great. Good luck. The way I just whispered in my ear. Hey big. No. He said, I the, the, the warriors owner the, the, the minority owner he's been suspended for a full year and fined five hundred thousand dollars by the league. Oh, yeah. They're they're not. They're not taking this. So they didn't take that Kyle Lowry gave him a little extra home. I'm not I'm not I'm not defending the warriors owner at all. I do think it was obviously not like a he wasn't intending to hurt Kyle Lowry that's a little ridiculous. But you can't put your hands on player ever. Rush. There was not a half a million dollar push. No, it wasn't. But you have to make whatever push it as their, he's that rich, a five hundred thousand dollars. It hurt. Got to got to try to make it hurt. It hurt. Yeah. What do you got this weekend, going anything fun? I got sitting at home and be in wishing the whole time that I was in Chicago because this is one of my favorite Chicago weekends the old town art, fair cardinals in at Wrigley's that any night game. I tried. I tried. I tried to try to get a trip home but couldn't make it work because we are on baby time. So we're we're on the clock. It was it was not a good sell so good good. But it was the, the hey what if I just went back real quick for just a catch to cubs games? I'd be gone for twenty four hours that didn't go over. So say that. And then you duck, right? I mean that's a smart move. Did you put the crib together yet have you did? I did I paid someone to do it. But I did. That's fine. That's a smart that's up. I took a nap. Well, someone did it. Yeah. It's awesome. Joined the naps now. I know I know between believe me. I know you're the best thing..

"Or to the right guard position. I'm looking at the points chart that pretty much every team uses the Broncos tenth pick was worth thirteen hundred points the Steelers twentieth. Pick worth eight fifty. They're picking the second round three eighty. So they're gonna have to throw in a couple of picks next year one. Here's the Commissioner to announce the trade with hall of Famer Joe green. Traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. For Pittsburgh pick. Please welcome back to the stage. Nineteen Seventy-nine Walter Payton NFL mandate ear hall of Famer and Steeler legend. Joe green? With the big. The two thousand eighteen. So Devon not surprising now, a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The linebacker out of Michigan is the Broncos and the Steelers consummated trade the Broncos will drop back to pick number twenty. There will be more involved. We just don't know the details. Do you have anything be? Yeah. It's coming in. Now looks like it's going to be number twenty number fifty two in the second round. And then a third rounder next year is what I'm saying. So twenty fifty two and a twenty twenty third or a fifty two is obviously another second round pick. So they sit at twenty forty one and fifty two today and then those two two picks in the second round tomorrow. So third stance third round next year. And thus with this trade the Broncos have the twentieth. Pick in the first round. They also now have two picks in the second round at forty one and fifty two. So that is the that is the deal. Well, and and there's been a lot of time. Doc guys about the real value in this draft being second and third rounds? And so for the Broncos to be able to pick up an extra second round pick. I mean, you're talking about the fifty second pick in the draft and potentially still fill a need say interior offensive line in the first round. I mean, we have to wait and see how you know who the Pixar? But this this could be a situation where the Broncos fill more than one whole because remember a guy like Courtney Sutton false to forty one or so last year when the Broncos were picking they're in position to to get to really good players in that second round yet opens up a lot of possibilities for the Denver Broncos and also worth noting Dwayne Haskins. Now falling out of the top ten. So I would imagine the the Miami Dolphins the Washington Redskins Redskins desperate for a quarterback. Do they trade up here to try to get him? Cincinnati's pick is next up on the. Board Haskins to sit in there and the Broncos keep their streak alive. They have still never selected a player with the tenth pick. They did have the twentieth. Pick just a couple years ago, though. And we know they took Garrett Bowles as tackle that Utah. I tell you what guys this is what comes to mind that even with Vic Fangio that defensive guru the defensive, mafia. Right that Devon Bush was there Montas sweat was there some of these Jeffrey Simmons who's coming off the was there some really good defensive football players. I think that speaks to the fact that either the Broncos have another need they have in mind like offensive line or Vic Fangio saying we still have enough on this roster that I can in my staff can make a difference with what we have. I mean, I think it does speak to you know, what Vic Fangio thinks he can get accomplished defensively either of those two things as a possibility or it might be just as simple as the. Broncos didn't have Devon Bush as a guy that the willing to spend the tenth pick on and decided they could move back. We're gonna take a out seven thirty one from UC health centre. Here's we cover the two thousand and nineteen NFL draft the Cincinnati Bengals or on the board now with pick number eleven the Broncos dropped to twenty in the first round his day of exchange. First round picks with the Pittsburgh Steelers..

"She kind of laughed. She says all right. She signed the contract on the eighteenth hole on Sunday. He said we realized wow, he's really going to pull this off. Trey little as twenty five years old told the story to the New York Post, and they realized as a couple that they were going to have a baby tiger. When it was all said and done. He said, we went crazy. We were so happy. So their first born will be named tiger. Because Tiger Woods won the master's quick story family related name related in sports related for those at. Oh, no, my son was named after Sean Casey son's name is Casey after Sean Casey, who as we were putting together various names and putting together the list, this was well Casey was born in two thousand so the ninety nine season in Sean, Casey. And it wasn't so much the the way he played. It was the way he carried himself as a as a person off the field. We had great admiration for that. And we said all the names Casey sounded great. So we named him. Casey, my daughter is Peyton P E Y T O N that is a combination of Walter Payton and Payton manning kind of. Combined the two and shows the P E Y T O N spelling at a respect to those two. I was named after the former wide receiver Lance Allworth San Diego Chargers powder. Blue uniforms nicknamed Bambi, so three in the family related to we didn't know, we we have we have two cats. We had a dog. We've got two cats the dog nor the cats were named after any athletes, and I don't know that I'm I'm necessarily opening this up for a topic either. Although you never know how this goes over the next hour and twenty one I will I will hold that determination until later in the show reds lose tonight. Three one the final score. This is the Kelsey Chevrolet extra inning show on seven hundred wwl w we talked a lot about Mike Sorocca and how well he pitched that first inning in the first pitch at a game is a four hundred foot. Four hundred foot Homer over the reds into the birds bullpen off the bat of Ozzy Albee's. It was one nothing, but the red strike in the first and it looked like Mike Sorocca was on the ropes. Joey Votto reached in fact, he'd been on base. What five straight times last night, he singled then he walked that? He walked then he walked tonight in his first at bat. He walked five straight times on base Suarez then singled Winker than single drove in one to one and you're thinking, all right. Get to the kid early tonight. And yet he buckles down strikes out. We're going to check swing third strike strikes out Dietrich on a poor third strike swing and then gets burn her to ground out and that kind of set the tone for the rest of the game. They they had a little bit on the ropes in the third inning. But Dietrich struck out again to end that inning. They got the bases loaded heat some help getting the last out in the sixth inning. But in and around all that at twenty one year old goes five innings of six hit two run baseball one or I'm sorry. That was Tanner Roark line. Sorocca goes five and two thirds innings at five hit one run baseball picks up the win and the bullpen which walked anyone and everyone last night goes three and a third innings of no hits. And no runs, by the way. If you're monitoring down on the firm tonight in a rain shortened game at Louisville. Nixon's L goes one for three he doubles the ground rule. Double over the wall in center field. He scores. A run bats lost four to two in a game. That was called after five innings grab some more calls here. And go. Let's see let's do this in Lebanon. Robert you are on the Kelsey Chevrolet. Extra innings show. What's up, Lance? You are a everybody on that team should take lessons from scooter..

"So let's just say you exercise you eat will have a healthy lifestyle. Great attitude. You know, generally, you're gonna have a happy long live. You would think right? Sometimes it doesn't matter. What you do? There are things that are out of your control because you do all the right things that you think you're supposed to and unfortunately, bad things still happen. And that's what's happening to my dear friend, Paul Blair. He's a former OSU football player. Pastor of Fairview Baptist church right here in Edmond Ammann's in amazing shape Damon. And he weighed like to ninety four when he played for the bears. One of my favorite teams when Mike Ditka was still now they're coming back, which I love Walter Payton. Nah, Walter Payton. Yeah. But his wife is the activities director at mercy. I mean, this is a healthy fam-. They live a healthy they believe in a healthy lifestyle. He is a pillar of our community. And unfortunately, he recently learned that he has throat cancer for those of you that level issue that love the bears at love are. No, Paul Blair that pray with him that enjoyed watching him play football. I really encourage you to really help this family out because you know, what we want Paul to do is we want he and Cindy in the family to focus on this. Brutal brutal cancer, but a medical fund has been established at Bank of Oklahoma. It's called Paul Blair bene-. Call you can call or Email Steve MD at Bank of Oklahoma. His direct line is two one six to eight zero one you can. Email him. If you have any questions, you can call me if you have any questions about what you can do we it's been an outpouring of love of prayers in support for this family. We even have people that call and said, well, I don't have cash right now big Torah. But you know, I've got southwest airline tickets. Can I donate them to the family because we're going to be traveling back and forth, the Houston, and unlike a great idea, another gentleman said can I give gift cards I own a restaurant, I'll give them gift cards that they can use. So these are things that all of us can do. But there's also the church set up a go fund me account that has been created to raise funds for Paul's medical treatments. That's called the Paul Blair's bear down on cancer campaign. The goal is to raise twenty thousand to help, you know, Paul beat this cancer and help relieve the the family from the stress so they can focus on what they need to focus on. And that is getting him back to one hundred percent health. You can join the constitution. Join me in our donation by visiting our website at chapel dot com. You'll find a link to Pablo's came. Pain at the very top of the page. You can donate directly to the go find or you can call bike of Oklahoma. And what I love about that gofundme page. I was looking at it. And it tells you the whole story there everything, and you see all the things that Paul and sandy his wife and the family of done in the community and down below all the people who have donated maybe some people who haven't have left. All these comments of all, you know, how wonderful Paul is all the things. So he's a genuinely good good. He I remember a couple years ago. It was during one of our Kentucky Derby events, and so we've got all these women walking, and they're all distracted doing whatever, you know, drinking their wine and offer raffles and stuff like that. And all of a sudden this big old man with the great mustache, and and. And the jacket on, you know, and I'm thanks up our front door, and I'm thinking my God who is always Paul and these women he's like a moth to the flame, you know. And so that was pretty neat that he stopped by that day. And it was just a surprise. Visit just to drop by in say me, and and here's all these women, and he just he was in such shock so much fun and everybody gathered around, and we took a huge big picture, right? He's right there in the middle. And you can't miss it. He's huge around the world. And all these women's surrounding him with their derby hats on and pretty. It was just a fun fun. It was very fun day. So so thank you all for praying for him and his family, Cindy and the boys Josh and Jacob I know they all appreciate everybody's outpouring of love and support. What happens though, when you lose a job? That's what we're talking about today. You know things. It's very stressful. Any advice, you know, that we can give people to help them with any kind of a loss. Whether it's a job loss situation a layoff. A termination changing jobs naming can be just as stressful as anything else because you do have to close that chapter behind you. So you can really focus going forward. And what we've seen in the past is so many people will jump into the next J O B and forget about all the duties that they have. And then when they come in to see there's they're a hot mess because it's stressful to them that they know there's things that they needed to have done that they didn't do. And it's just hanging out there on the time. I remember one one of our favorite doctors came in. And we call him doctor bones. And Dr bones comes in and he just sat down. He goes. I got ya. I got stuff everywhere. It's just gain. And he's telling me because Victoria. I'm embarrassed. Whatever I said, listen, Honey, I've seen it. All you cannot is like somebody coming into you telling you all they're probably like, listen, I've been around forever. There's nothing I haven't seen. So we're just gonna call you a hot mess and just understand. This is not our first rodeo we have dealt with hot messes before. So we're going to help you get all cleaned up. And it did take a little time. He would come in a couple of years later say, yeah, I got about three hundred thousand dollars sitting over here. I forgot about you forgot about three hundred thousand dollars. Well, that's a good problem to have. I kind of forgot about this. But you know, in this segment, we're going to share with you the options that you're going to have regarding your 4._0._1._K's, your stock options, your, pension, and any other retirement counts. And whether should I leave him at my employer. Should I take them water? My, you know, really one of my choices. And what do I need to do? That's usually the biggest question people have is what would with my 4._0._1._K and often people just leave them there. Right. Yeah. Because they don't know what to do with it. And so they get orphaned. They get widowed orphan, whatever you wanna call it. But it's hanging out there. But your options are this. You certainly can leave it there with your employer or you can roll it over. That's the big question earlier, we talked about, you know, you want the financial leave in your back pocket to help with that rollover most of our clients when we've as they roll over. Okay. Either to a new 4._0._1._K with their new company or into an IRA that we set up with them. Okay. When you rolled the reason you want to roll is because you get that money follows you. If you leave it there with your employer, Victoria. You don't have any you can't participate. Nate you can't add to it. You don't have any control over it. And the and what people don't realize is what if the company changes the plan? Sometimes we have seen if you change. They changed the plan. They have every right to do. So they don't you know, they may have sent you a letter. But I don't even know if they're obligated once you've terminated because what happens is a lot of times. They'll just put that money in cash at the new so NAT sitting in cash, not working for you. And you don't know it until you bring in a statement because I've seen it happen in our someone needs to fix well. Well, and they should have called me, and they should have. Well, no, you should've taken care of it be honest at that time. But we all know that when you lose a job, are you changing jobs, your focus focuses on the new j o b we know that. But you do have to be an adult, and you do need to take responsibility. So your best option is to roll that over and you want to perform what's called a direct rollover, it's from one account to another. You don't want that check made out to you never sell reason for no reason at all. Okay. You want it made out to the name of the company that's going to host your IRA or other 4._0._1._K. Now, there is one of the thing, you know. And unfortunately, we we tried to find ways around this just know when you do a rollover, many companies that host your 4._0._1._K. And let's talk about the, you know, the big ones, there's there's fidelity there's voyeur all these companies that host these 4._0._1._K's, you would think they would send the check to your new investment company right with 4._0._1._K's, usually they mail the check directly to you. Okay. So Damon I have three million dollars in my account, and I want it taken out of the 4._0._1._K enrolled over to my individual, independent retirement account. And you're telling me, I gotta sit at my house and wait for that check to arrive that is a possibility unless you have a bulldog as part of your financial advisory team that will get on the phone and actually talk to them and and exhaust every potential avenue to maybe get that check sent directly there, even then it may not work, but you can have it. At least tracked. That's exactly why for the tracking is worth it. That's right. Especially nowadays with people getting into mailboxes. And all that because I mean, Shelly whenever she she's dealing with rollovers very first things you ask especially if.

"And certainly I think he's now fourth all time on the sacks list and just a tremendous player in a tremendous person. Of course, the NFL Walter Payton man of the year. Ultimately went to Chris long from the Philadelphia Eagles who if you know anything about Chris, you know, how selfless and kind. He is. This is a guy who multiple times has given up his entire salaries annual salary for the benefit of others this past year, he gave up his entire salary four pledged in for tomorrow that is his initiative that promotes educational equality for young people. That's just one aspect of what Chris does. He also has an initiative called water boys with Nate Boyer. The former green beret who was once had a Cup of coffee as a long snapper with the Seattle Seahawks and played wall. Into Mike Brown's office at the university of Texas and said coach, I'm gonna play for you. And then he went over to the sandbox fighting for our freedom and practiced in the desert how to snap a football. So that he could come back to the university of Texas and be along snapper and just a total stood did a huge eight nine minute feature on Nate a couple years ago before he became Nate Boyer. I did a big story on him for SC featured and have built a great friendship with him. Of course. He's also the guy who went capper Nick began the decision to kneel during the national anthem Nate stood beside cap and put his hand over his heart. So those two guys have taken a the great initiative to go insure the people who need fresh water can get some fresh water overseas. And so just Chris long is an inspiring person. And someone I admire more than I can articulate. And so we'd love to get him on here to to chat about that. We're going to try to have Nate. Boyer on some time as well to chat with those guys about what they do in while they do it and how they take their blessings and pay him forward. If anything impresses me today. It's that. So thanks so much von Miller for his time and insight and filling up my tank and reminded me that I have to be I have to take my blessings and make sure other people feel them because that's something that I think, you know, he said, you know, to whom much is given much expected, and that is unequivocal truth. Now, another thing that is on a quizzical truth in a unique transition is the fact that do not do not double dip in dip. Oh, do not go for the ranch twice with your celery. Stick and do not grab in the Super Bowl media center. Foodline don't bear. But chicken wing and input. The thing back our buddy, Ben heart sock who is one of Travis his home because he played it the Ohio State University. And he posted a video. Travis walk us through this. So Ben's social following is not the most massive. But this small short video he posted did what what kind of traffic. Ben, Ben has less than five thousand followers on Twitter, and he was the Super Bowl last night. And he posted eleven second video of the the food spread was and right at the end, there's a hand that takes a chicken wing off the plate and puts it back in the little dish. Well, the wings, and wouldn't you know, people started seeing it. It's been viewed one point two million times. Wishes person's face was in it, though, because we need I think we need to know who this is because he obviously goes to other big events in media members who you can trust and who you can't trust. Well, we can bet we could do some forensic science on that we could take the hand we could stop the video blow up the hand we could get it for index. Scientists to look at the strike in the hand. And I'll bet we could determine exactly who it is. There's a few rules that you are kind of you understood as at a young age, and you don't double dip, and he don't use your hands. And you're doing this at the Super Bowl of all places. Like, this is your your house with your family..

"So one of the things we were gonna talk about and speedy hit this to talking about the the the truth can be found if you're willing to just kind of look at it. And it's hard to do that now with all the hyperbole and exaggerations and propaganda and everything out there. This hope Colin Kaepernick our argument now is attorney is slamming maroon five for the Super Bowl performance as a cop out. But I, but I have to tell all of you that thank the NFL is being mean to Colin Kaepernick solely because he started the kneeling campaign last year. The reason why that doesn't hold up and speedy was spot on when he said this marchant marshawn Lynch is not stood for national anthem. And I don't know when I don't even think he was. Outstanding long before cap got on all this. He didn't stand this year. Right. And and never have. And he was out on the field as a fondness for the man of the year award for Walter Payton to Walter Payton man of the year. So if marshawn Lynch is playing and doesn't stand for the national anthem and even was put into is one of the thirty two finalists for the Walter Payton man to the included him in their commercial the one hundred years. Here's the one that reaching for the. So the reason why Colin Kaepernick doesn't has have a job is it may be partially because he's a PR struggle. But people are willing to go through the PR struggle. If you're good enough to get the job done. The main reason Colin Kaepernick doesn't have a job is the NFL teams. Don't think he's good enough to have won. If they thought he was good enough at this at this stage of his career. He would have won because other players who haven't stood still are plate. And they still have gigs. So really, I gotta tell you. That's the end of that argument. Let's let's flip this around the other way. Let's look at it. One hundred ninety degrees. The other way. Tim tebow is not quarterbacking in the NFL one. Because is it because of the circus? It comes with him. The fact they don't have to deal with him being outspoken Christian. Or is it just he's not good enough to make the throws required in the NFL. I think it's the latter. And I'll tell you an example, I read it today. Matthew Slater who who plays for the patriots? Jackie Slater, son. Who his dad was awesome? I saw the things he was saying last year in the press conferences, they go to him in the press conference last year. And I didn't see that. I saw it in the story that was out this year. You know, what he says about the eagles? He starts talking about his brothers in Christ over there that are really bold about their faith on the eagles. And how proud he is of the way they use that. Instead that being an NFL isn't the biggest thing that's ever happened in his life. Shoot. It'd be for anyone you getting right with Jesus Christ is the biggest decision most important thing you'll ever do. And I call heads every time because Jesus prices the Lord of my life, and I'm what knowledge him by calling because that's what my dad always did. So if it was about being a devout Christian and talking about your faith in interviews that keeps Tim tebow out of the league. Then then Matthew Slater wouldn't be in the league. Matthew Slater starting because he's good enough to play it. Comedown the coaches in the front office. They actually evaluate players and decide who they can use in who the can't use. Now does some of them come with more baggage than others? Sure. That means you gotta be even better. But it comes on both sides of the spectrum. So it may it's possible. We we have to accept it is eight just a slot possibility that capper Nick is not good enough now to to quarterback any of these teams. Remember he was based when he was playing he could be a backup. Probably I'll give you that argument. These people that are doing this screaming boycott, not only his behalf are killing any chance. He ever has. Because this asinine is a backup. Well, that's not going to be good enough. They're gonna start the same boycott start screaming that I must start him at some point you do and he's not good enough to go with that. In the thing. I can say a little bit of that too. I know, but but he's also a superstar regardless as part of it. He's Tim tebow the trophy winner, and he's gonna draw tangible. Are you gonna play Tom are you gonna do this? And he's not good enough to overcome that. I think it's the same type of deal. But these people that are screaming boycott are killing any chance you'll ever have to be in the league is a backup is he's good enough to be a backup the NFL. Tim tebow may be too. But I'm just saying they're not good enough to overcome the hype becomes the point though, but it isn't solely because they're controversial controversy. Plus, you're not good at to be worth the controversy. They would they would put up with marshawn Lynch doesn't have a group. It cries wins marshawn going into the game and gets out there and get some social media. So so what you're talking about? When you go to Collin cabinet, you bring with him, his mom and to some degree if you go to Tim tebow. You bring him his. Yeah. And so people say, well, if I'm going to have to deal with the mob about when I'm on play him when I'm gonna put them in. They have to be so good that I play mini exact. And so if they're not then then the combination of them not quite being good enough to be worth the mob and the mob together makes them an undesirable choices in. Here's the thing too. It's not solely their their protests. Are the things I don't think the NFL owners collude on things like that. I just think they have a similar spirit in that. They wanna win and Ida Walker baggage. That's right. No doubt. So here, I'm dating all get together and huddled go less freeze out camp unless freeze out Tibo list. Say let's say let's say that. Let's let's say that let's say four years ago five years ago. After he's already got a fee ring, some says, well, you know, now we get Tom Brady. You know, he's not going to stand for the national anthem or we get Tom Brady. He's gonna talk about Jesus. All tom. There's gonna people trying to cover every practice and somebody that you think he's worth say, absolutely. Let's get let's get. Let's get that deal done. You may Tom Brady's gonna be our quarterback. They they have all the protests. They won't do because he's gonna play a game. It ain't gonna matter. So they're going to be happy. And then of course, you not opening we upset with the city meals and all that. But you know, once we put on him to the Super Bowl ring. We're going to get over that. What what do you think about you always want to know about Jesus every press conference? He wants to. But then when you go to players that they go they're going to be here in they're probably not gonna play and we're constantly. It'll be hounded about why they're not playing. Then you have cameras in their face with my backup. He's getting more attention than and then you go back. It's not worth it. No. And that's the problem. And that's the problem because if you think these people if you sign Colin Kaepernick is your backup right now. And you think these people are going to be quiet if he doesn't start at let your started have you are you are racist. Somehow, I don't know how is the top ten players in the league are all African American. But but you're a racist for not not signed. And then when you sign him because all he really is good enough to be a backup. And then you become a racist. Because you won't let him be the starter. He's only a backup. You can't win with you can't. And so the mob the mob as you said, Greg. They're hurting Colin Kaepernick more than their help. Oh, yeah. Because you're never gonna be happy. You know, when you when you meet out to the mob, and they eat it all starts screaming. That's still not enough. You're like, well, if I if I can satisfy your appetite, and we're just not going to be nice situation. Right. And these these top players are just like we say to women all time, you better be more pretty than you are. And if you're not gonna win football games big guaranteed starter. And you bring controversy. You're not worth it. Your phone calls, and how you saw the things that will respond to that to next Super Bowl recap at eight six six we be big or rickandbubba coming up next. Rick and Bubba, Rick and Bubba. Oh. Today. Business happens here fear and virtually anywhere because today innovative companies are reinventing the way business happens, and.

"I mean, just pointed out one thing, I see a lot more cameras. Do you feel? I mean is there because of the magnitude of the game, do you feel more pressure? Or is that helped by the fact that this is number five for you as opposed to number one. I think I always feel pressure to be honest with you. I mean, I try not to think about it. But it's the Super Bowl and a hundred million people are going to watch it. I feel pressure in the pre game because I normally don't do team introductions. I don't dorm cover the anthem the Walter Payton band of the year. Presentation happens for me once every three years and not that it's that difficult. But it it's just that these are new events for me that I don't really cover during the regular season. Once the game kicks off. Maybe you're nervous for the first kickoff and the first player to but after that it just goes into a regular football game. It's still eleven on eleven and that's where you can just rely on what you've done through the entire year. And that that's the part that I like I forget that a hundred million people are watching it and just try to cover my regular football game. Mike, one of the things that I I thought was really really fascinating wrote about this last week is Tony Romo who you work with every week said he praised you, and he said, you know, they'll times he'll be sort of saying something, and he'll be talking about particularly let's say like the coverage of safeties. And as he's talking you'll pan out just a little bit wider. So that the audience at home gets a sense of what Tony's talking about. And Tony said it makes a lot smarter. It makes him a come off far more intellectually sound to the audience, and as he said, he didn't do anything that was your decision to do that. Can you give some insight into how you work particularly with the analysts when the analysts is saying something and your goal is to sort of matched visuals to what the analyst is saying. Yeah. I think that's the most important part is that you're showing the pictures that the analyst is talking about I can have the greatest shot in the world. But if the analyst isn't isn't speaking about it, probably one of us is is off. So I try to listen to Tony. I think it starts in the meetings with the teams, and we're about to meet with the the patriots. And I listen to the questions that Tony's asking. He wanted to know last week how the what the chiefs plan was for gronkowski. And whether they're going to have a safety in the box or not, and I get the feel for whether Tony thinks the safety play is important of. So I would tell the cameraman at the meeting. Hey, make sure we're showing the safeties that there's only one single high safety or there are no safeties if they're in coverage zero I'm sure Tony's gonna wanna. A circle the middle of the field and say, hey, there's no safety here. You know, you might wanna take a shot on a on a seem route to gronkowski up the middle or something like that. So I get a lot of it through the pre-game meetings. And and what I think Tony thinks is important. And then it's religious listening to him during the game to make sure I'm supporting him with the with the pictures that he's talking about..

"That matter on seven twenty WGN. Saturday afternoon in Chicago, and we'll be back with Walter Payton. So what we've got Walter cut up. Don't worry. You'll get to hear plenty of Walter today. The greatest running back ever, some some would tell you the greatest football player ever. This is the thirty third anniversary of the bears Super Bowl. Yeah. They played in another Super Bowl. But we don't really celebrate that one at all not worth it not worth two thousand seven at the two thousand six twelve years ago. So yes, that would be correct. You've studied for the show. I did. Yes. I'm Harry, Bob Kesslers here in case something breaks, whether it be a new story or just something in the boss's office. Another one in my toes, another one of your toes, and if an event that happens call him Snyder, and we're celebrating the bears Super Bowl anniversary at the car will be along shortly as he makes his way back from SOX fast. It was the first time in my life. The Chicago had won a championship, and we have been bad. I mean, we weren't like so close I could taste it the year before we were. But Chicago had not been really great at all in in really in any sport with the possible exception of as a teenager is the Blackhawks were phenomenal. When I was growing up. They got into the Stanley Cup final on seventy one. I remember mother's day game when the Canadians knocked them off at the old Chicago Stadium and the bulls the bulls played in one thousand nine hundred seventy five in the NBA finals against Golden State Warriors, Rick berry, and the warriors knocked off the balls that was a horrible time. But that was the closest we had gotten and for bears fans the year before the season ended in San Francisco when the forty Niners annihilated us. Instead he next time bring your offense. And I thought about it and said, well, if we have the greatest defense in the history of the sport, we don't ever really need to have an offense, but they had Walter Payton. So my friend, Steve nor Mark and Bill. I we got tickets. We got my car, and we drove down to New Orleans and Karm is going to the Super Bowl next week. And I'm just gonna make so much money him. It's an Atlanta. I cannot think of a worse place for the game to be in then Atlanta. And I went up to see it in Minnesota when it was there. And it was it wasn't great. But at least the whole city was into it Atlanta's like of spread out. I got to go there. We used to always travel Bob for Super Bowl week. We didn't get to go to the game every year, but we get we're always there the whole week and the Super Bowl cool, Atlanta's not a great spot the Super Bowl should always be or at least like every few years should be New Orleans. Otherwise, you need like a warm weather city you need Miami or San Diego or Los Angeles or Phoenix. You cannot put it in Atlanta. Because people want to you know, rock and roll out last year. Where was it is in Minneapolis, right? Last year was in minneap indoor stadium where it this. You're actually don't know in Atlanta. That Ben stadium and kinda warm, isn't it? It's not cold. I don't mean this as disrespectful, but what's what's exciting about Atlanta? Yeah. And you could tweet us too. You can text us rather. The text line is the same you go three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred. Here's a guy saying what about the staying in eighty one? You know, you're right. I stand corrected Lee Stearns great soccer team, the staying with Karlheinz Bruneta powder headache. Franz Matthew, they were champions in nineteen eighty one. So the the big news so far the only big news out of Atlanta. Bob is that the Atlanta Falcons announced that they will not be raising the prices for any of the concession stand. That's nice of them. Right. So to get a a hotdog the slice of pizza and a beer is still going to be ten bucks. But now the only difference is to wait in line at cost forty five dollars. Are you serious? What does the Super Bowl ticket has to cost many hundreds of dollars? Right. If not into the forefingers, right, right? But the Super Bowl tickets are actually very low this year. Really? Yes. Because of the Rams fan base because nobody knows any Rams fans. I mean there were St Louis Rams fans. There were Los Angeles Rams fans, you know, twenty five years ago, but LA is just come Rams have just come back to Los Angeles. So anyhow New Orleans is the place where you should always have the Super Bowl. It was so great there. When while I went with my friends that I went back four years later to see the forty Niners annihilate Denver. That score was fifty five to ten but the Super Bowl was incredible. The bears were in it, and Bob, I gotta tell you what here's my. Here's my memories that Super Bowl. Okay. It was nine bears fans for every patriot fan. You know, we live we live in a time. Now where the patriot fans are everywhere in the world as a whole nother a whole 'nother level, right, right? Right and back. Then it was, you know, bunch of Chicago wins like me that will. We're just so thrilled that we were in the championship game. We were in the Super Bowl. So the streets were lined with bears fans and the Super Bowl. Shuffle was playing everywhere. And like all the patriots fans could say I remember I remember one like one night about three in the morning bunch patriot fans, they all all the bars in New Orleans have these heat lamps. So it doesn't matter that it's not a warm weather city because in the French quarter, all these heat lamps. So you can walk around there in a bears jersey and never feel cold. All these fans the patriots like six of them were. Were chanting fem sick can't dance. That's all. They had on us. That's wrong. There were they weren't you know? Well, you know, some some ladies will tell you. He's the he's the greatest dancer, right? But the Super Bowl Sunday music video. He's a bit dare I say, you wouldn't not be a first round draft pick if you will fuller too, but he'd broken his foot. Yes, we have four what Steve fuller played for Jim McMahon of dad we hear a bears solo from the Super Bowl Chappel. Dan long is here. He cares about the shell car drop the needle on this. I can't say the needle he he's seen the needle and the damage done. We were celebrating the bears Super Bowl. We're going to start with Ronning Gary in just a sec if you want to jump in here and share your memories of the bears Super Bowl or just talk about how these guys have not paid for a meal since. Dan Hampton is on the station every Sunday, and I don't think Dan Hampton has paid for a meal in Chicago since the bears won the Super Bowl thirty three years ago today. I believe it. He's he's a charming guy, though, down a lot. Sure, how you not hooking like us. Right. Never met Walter Payton. I was probably too young. But his son is a nice guy Kerry. He is so fake. He is so shade your are casting. Yes. AM just to be clear JP is a wonderfully close friend and big fan of attrition has kids. It seems like he was raised by good people. You know what? I mean. The and one of those guys I mean, but Walter payments such a toast to the everyone loves. Yeah. He will. Well, Walter Payton was the greatest running back ever. And I remember a time when the bears didn't have a quarterback and Walter Payton was playing quarterback out of the shotgun. His record his passing record. I believe is the best of any running back based on at least ten throws. And he he would block he the greatest. Play in Walter Payton's career is that Thursday night game in Minnesota against the Vikings. When the bears were losing at halftime and McMahon wasn't supposed to play and he's on the sideline these begging. Dick, put me in put me in put me in. And he finally puts him in and the Vikings red dog. They've got this linebacker blitzing and Peyton comes in though. He disguised got like six inches them. Peyton just berries this guy with the block which allows McMahon that extra moment to throw the ball long downfield to Willie Gault three the first seven passes. Jim McMahon through that night were touchdowns and the bears were down twenty one nine and they came back and they buried the the Vikings. The hated Vikings on a Thursday night because of Walter Payton's block, I love JP. Here's a little sweetness from the Super Bowl shuffle. Will they call me.

"Meeting on Boston Herald radio. Week to go or more guess, obviously. But before the Super Bowl just a little bit over I'd say and John savage jetty. Is going to be bringing you plenty of coverage next week of off for all your Super Bowl needs. Absolutely. I want to let people know about that the extension expansion in terms of coverage in time that you guys are going to be doing right. The rundown will then become Rhode to the ring. She'll be one to four Monday through Friday as opposed to one two three. So wonder four Monday through Friday, and we'll also be on next Saturday and Sunday one to four myself jet strike, Christian Burgoyne, Tucker Boyden, if he's available and who's going back to school at Harvard this week, but also John Sarah need us will be in studio. A couple of days he really breaks down the Xs and os. And also our great staff that's going to be in Atlanta covering the game will be calling him with some daily updates Karenga Regan. Kevin Duffy, Tom, Keegan aren't great sports columnist and Steve Hewitt. So all four of those folks will be in Atlanta starting on Monday covering Super Bowl. Fifty three should be really exciting. I mean, it's the nighttime in. Eighteen years at they're going, and you gotta Forty-one-year-old quarterback and a sixty six year old head coach, you don't know if this is going to happen again. But we've been saying that for many years, and then it happens. So. Patriot fans just expect that their team's going to be playing in the Super Bowl, which is so different than when I grew up Hillary because the first God over thirty years ago, and I was like pinching myself for two weeks saying I can't believe the patriots are in the Super Bowl. And at the end of the game. I was really pinching myself because they lost forty six to ten to the bears. And then the but a decade later they lost the Packers and since braiding belch Ben here, this is going to be Super Bowl trip number nine. It's it's just amazing someone like Tucker who's nineteen years old. This is all he's ever known the patriots going to the Super Bowl. It's like just plans on it happening. At least. That's exactly what's happened. Yeah. I mean, I remember certainly refrigerator Perry. And I was really young which is why I only remember frigerator Perry. You know what? I mean. That's someone that you would remember right today. He'd be like a big guy. Not an enormous guy backed any was just much bigger than anybody else. And he was just very great athlete as well. And the weird thing about that game. When you talk about refrigerator Perry the bears, just absolutely destroyed. The patriots the bears in eighty five that might have been the best team that we've ever seen from one single season. They only lost one regular season game and one of the regrets that Mike Ditka. Had who was the head? Coach of the bears is that he never got the ball to Walter Payton for a touchdown. Walter Payton, one of the greatest running backs in league history. There's an award named after him the Walter Payton award, which goes to the player that does the most charity work and all great work away from the field. Walter Payton was was not just one of the greatest players ever one of the greatest guys ever. And he died at only forty five years old with liver disease, and that was one of the regrets that Mike Ditka. Had that he never got Walter Payton the opportunity in that game to get a touchdown. In fact, when the game was over Walter Payton. Quite upset. I mean, he he was a player had been leaked ten years. And finally had a great team around him. They won the Super Bowl. And it was kind of. I wouldn't say childish by Mike Ditka. But missing the point to give refrigerator Perry opportunity to score a touchdown. But not arguably the greatest player in the sport at that. Right. Right. So that was something that that. That's how good the bears were that was the only negative coming out of that game was well, we didn't get Walter Payton a touchdown along the way to a forty six to ten award win. But it's a lot different. Now, the Super Bowl the patriots abandoned with braiding bell, check of been close games. Yeah. They absolutely have absolutely have in. And no one's going to forget the one where where they came back. That was insane. I mean, it's twenty eight to three in the third quarter. The falcons were just doing whatever they wanted to do. I got to the point where like, okay, of course, I'm going to continue to watch and I kind of like moved to a different position. And next thing, you know, the comeback started. And I said, well, I'm not gonna leave this position. Now, I sometimes get superstitious, and that's the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history. One of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports for a single game last year Brady put up five hundred and five yards against the eagles. But the patriots lost because their defense was got awful against the eagles. And they didn't play one of their better Cornerbacks Malcolm Butler in that game. And that's something that kind of dominated the off season. Why didn't bell check play Malcolm Butler, Butler left? The patriots and free agency designed with the titans and bell checks. Never answer that question. And quite frankly, Malcolm Butler has never answered that question. So hopefully, bell check doesn't lose his mind. Next Sunday bench someone that could help them win. I don't think that's going to happen. But it's gonna be exciting. Because the Rams of really really good as well. Yeah. It's going to be a fun build up to the game too. Because I mean just considering where where Tom Brady is in the overall. Specter of football is huge. Just you know, it was funny this morning out of nowhere. My husband says to me. It's really it's pretty crazy that the patriots are in the Super Bowl considering this year that they've had which I just thought was considered a down your they were eleven and five talking about the dolphins game. Right. The Miami miracle and then they lost the next week to Pittsburgh in the regular season. They were three and five on the road three of those five losses. They only score ten points. They they look pedestrian on the road this year. They're undefeated at home, and they took care of a chargers team in the division around at Gillette a tragedy team that I think quite frankly is a better roster than the patriots. But the patriots have Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, and they got the job done against the chargers. And then to go into Kansas City where they've struggled in the past to win that game in the fashion. They did winning in overtime was just incredible. And now they're playing a high-powered Rams team that probably has a better roster than the patriots. But Vegas is saying the patriots are going to win the game patriots are two and a half point favorite, quite frankly. The Rams don't have a fan base. They've been in San was for a twenty year period moved back to. L A last year. Stan Kroenke who's their owner is part of the WalMart fortune as building a beautiful new stadium in Hollywood, California to three billion dollars stadium that he's going to share with the chargers, but they don't really have a great fan base. I mean, southern California, first and foremost is dodgers Lakers. And then if it's football at USC UCLA, the Rams may be the third most popular football team in LA, but they're going to the Super Bowl, and they're going to give the patriots quite a battle. I would suggest that the rest of America are the foot fan base at four. She set the game you're gonna against the patriots. If you're outside of New England because you despise them. Yeah. The most hated franchise in sports and patriot fans sometimes are so thin skinned. And can't understand why. And I'm like be happy with that. Because they know who you are a man the Yankees don't have the Yankees are the biggest brand along with the Cowboys in all sports. But you know, when you've been that successful and kind of that arrogant about it sure that's going to turn off a lot of people. But you know, what Super Bowl Sunday there's going to be a lotta is rooting against the New England Patriots. You know? I remember growing up. They wouldn't even sell out home games. The patriots half the games weren't on TV, and they had some ups and downs and really since two thousand and one it's been just this incredible run that quite frankly, you know, is is almost unmatched in the history of football. The packers. You know, historically, the most successful franchise in the Steelers had a great run in the seventies and the forty Niners in the eighties and nineties, but to do this now when this free agency to keep a team together nearly impossible and really the only connection here is the owner Robert Kraft the head coach Bill bell, Jack and a quarterback Tom Brady. It is just just unprecedented. What they've been able to pull off. Yeah. I mean there there really is so much to talk about. And I mean, I, of course, there's there's so many hot takes in terms of what this means for Brady what it means for the team. But I did want to ask you actually about something. You just said, which is that they are the most hated franchise and all of football. Do you think that they're more heated than for example? The Dallas Cowboys were. Yeah. More than the bears and more than any other team that had a sort of strong run. Yeah. The Cowboys would probably be the closest but the Cowboys are so polarizing because they've got a huge fan base. Not just in Texas, but nationally patriots don't necessarily have that fan base nationally. It's the six dates of New England. And I'm sure there's patriot fans in all of the forty four states who just may be growing up. Love Tom Brady, whatever may be I know that the only other state that's being considered rooting for the patriots in this game is chicken because he played at the university of Michigan. But the Cowboys they were America's team, and they still are the brand is huge for the Cowboys and still the most valuable franchise and North American sports while a lot of people rooted against the Cowboys in those Super Bowls a lot of people rooting for them with this Super Bowl is going to be a small group of people rooting for the patriots mostly in New England. And then a lot of people rooting against them because they just don't wanna see them when that six Super Bowl with by the way with tie the Steelers for the most in Super Bowl history. Yeah. It is. It is interesting that. The hate is so much larger. I think part of it is obviously Bill bell. Check. And Tom Brady Tom Brady is someone that I think people quite frankly jealous of at this point. I mean has it. All right. I mean, he's got the looks. He's got five Super Bowl rings. He's got the model wife. He's got a fortune of three four hundred million dollars. Bill bell. Check on the other hand is the most accomplished coach in the Super Bowl era. But he's very arrogant about it doesn't really answer questions during two thousand seven they were running up the score against teams on their way to a perfect season. Which ended unfortunately in the loss to the giants. But might take on that was you know, the NFL stop them. It's not ice school where unsportsmanlike to run up the score. It's the NFL put a stop to them. But they've also had other issues whether it be Deflategate spy gate, but that's what I was going to mention. Yeah. The country have said they've cheated right and Arlen Specter was a Senator from Pennsylvania was a big eagles fan wanted the Senate to get involved in investigating Roger Goodell. Why the tapes were destroyed spy gate, and what's that all about? And it's almost like now, there's a congressman in Louisiana congressman Richmond who wants to put the Commissioner of the NFL on the stand because he feels that the saints were wrong last Sunday. You know, sometimes politicians do this for political gain, obviously because their fan base will support them. But yeah, that's part of it. Spy gate, deflate gate. And even you go back to the first Super Bowl win over the Rams the allegations that the patriots recorded the Rams walked through the day before the Super Bowl, which gave them an edge. So there's that part that people have always felt that they cheated. And maybe they just got caught other teams. Try to push the envelope to get an edge any way they can Jimmy Johnson. Who coached the Cowboys said every time a game was over. I would send someone up to the visitors coaches booth to see if anything was left behind game plan. So if you do it and you're out front about it in your face about it. It's gonna turn people off and it again bell. Check is is kind of Darth Vader. Right. I mean, he's just the the guy who is pure evil to the other thirty one franchises in football. He's got that scowl. He's got the hoodie. His press conferences, he just won't give an inch on anything..
