Ron DeSantis Proposes Dissolving Special Tax Status for Disney World

"So Ron DeSantis, as if he doesn't have enough on his plate, is now announced that the state legislature will consider a proposal to eliminate Disney's special tax and governing jurisdiction in desantis fight against the mega corporation's woke politics, quote I'm announcing today that we are expanding the call of what they are going to be considering this week. And so yes, they will be considering termination of all special districts that were enacted in Florida prior to 1968. And that includes the reedy creek improvement district. Now the reedy creek improvement district is one of Disney's special carve outs. It's a special governing and special taxing district for the Walt Disney World resort. In 1967, the Florida legislature approved it to boost economic development and tourism within the district's boundaries. This includes 25,000 acres. Eliminating the special district would be served as a significant economic blow to the Disney corporation. So they should absolutely do it. If you are going to be financing supporting the grooming of children, then use a corporation should not receive special handouts from the state of Florida. If you're going to be against family values and you're going to make Florida a place where you want to push for this LGBTQ garbage, we're going to raise your taxes or at the very least, we're not going to give you special cargo. So you never should have gotten in the first place. This is the latest flight breitbart dot com writes after Disney announced its opposition to the parental rights and education bill that he signed into law. This is the proclamation. On this first day of the redistricting special session, the governor added this. Should lawmakers and special independent special districts established in 1968, he announced it at the villages that has similar self governing districts, though post 1968. Republicans have considered other measures to fight back against Disney's alphabet mafia agenda, including ending Disney $600 million tax cheat loophole. Jim banks from Indiana, who is the Republican study committee chairman, has floated to do revolver news idea, which is to end congressional loopholes for the Mickey Mouse

Florida Governor Wants to End Special Privileges for Disney

"Me. Florida's governor Ron DeSantis. Addressed on Thursday, the suggestion of repealing a 55 year old state law that allows Disney to effectively govern itself on the grounds of Walt Disney World following the company's public opposition to a controversial parental rights law in Florida. What I would say as a matter of first principle is I don't support special privileges and law just because a company is powerful and they've been able to wield a lot of power. I love this guy. I love this guy. Fight back. This is the way you fight back. Desantis said this during a press conference in West Palm Beach, Florida today. Disney has been engaged in a war of words with Republicans in Florida leading up to Monday signing of the controversial bill, which prohibits classroom instruction on quote sexual orientation. And that's what it is, guys,

"The socials we can find their indoor at me. I de travel dot com for all of your vacation planning needs and you know what i can't look can't wait to look forward to more than anything. 'cause you more think besides dinner because that's next is d twenty three expo were we can hear all of the new things that will be talking about looking forward to next. Sorry you know what. Then i wasn't going to say say it. I actually think we're going to get an announcement at destination d in a month. What type of announce. How do you think really destination blue. I am sure that history is gonna prove me completely wrong. But i believe that that last year with destination d was cancelled there was there was a notable absence at d. Twenty three expo of all the things that were coming that there was no discussion of the imagination pavilion. My feeling was that they were saving that for the walt disneyworld enthusiasts and fans and guests to announce something destination d. I think that announcement was pushed back. I expect to get this november. Because if you look at the pavilion the way it is now it. It's waiting for something. And i think that what it's waiting for is the announcement that is going to be updated. I loom on jello at ww. Radio no i completely agree. I think you and i both put those pieces together. Have how was missing at d twenty three expo and yes last year was supposed to be the destination d out here which they always focus on the walt disney world aspect so this one is celebrating the fifty years. It's coming up in less than a month So that really is the last piece of epcot that hasn't been talked about. I mean we may. We may get some clarifications on some of the past plans but there was a noticeable omission of the journey imagination pavilion. So hopefully we're all behind lou if not we know where to turn feather. Well becky gentlemen Us been listening. Thank you so much for this I do. I just love talking about this stuff. I love reminiscing and enjoying what we have all the all the gifts that we've been given not just this year but every year at disney and what the The potential future might hold very quickly. Just lightning round. Tell me your favorite walter. Disney attraction attraction song character. Whatever it might be the first thing that comes to your mind. My favorite walt disneyworld blank go making memories from the original magic theatre in epcot that that song to this day is an absolute classic. And the fact that. Walt disney world or the disney company has not profited off that song since is a tragedy long before the old model t mobile big hug my favorite attractions. The people mover because my mom worked on it. And when i ride it i see the attraction i worked on in seven worse mine train and i love that it come full circle to the only attraction that i make sure room magic king of becky. You've gotta bring it home. It's that big. It was my answer though. Because i love the ta. But now. i'm going to turn around and say my darkened twisty hollywood of terror. Because i love that right. I have to ride it every time i'm in that park i've got to go Scared of it. I personally like the disneyland version better. "In it's easy to find ways to monetize games and collections and pieces and there's a lot of of focus in that right now in in a lot of the aspects of what were enjoying in our disney experience. So i enjoy it. I think is kind of fun. It's neat to like you said you kind of Tease your friends. Because you found something or got something to somebody else didn't it's almost like When you're collecting pins or you're collecting other pieces and digitally it's an i'm gonna come bring it all the way back full circle because as somebody who in the future wants to see more walt in the parks we've gotten away from that just a little bit. I think this is what walt wanted. Because i think families will be able to have fun together. Maybe dad doesn't wanna ride. You know the new guardians ride. Maybe mom can't handle tower. Everybody can do this. Because we all have a digital vice. We can share in that experience together. We can play collectively. Look how many people do we see in line playing heads up and playing these other games together. Now they're gonna be able to do it but in a way that's going to interact with the place that you're in as opposed to this third party app it's disconnected but even you know we can have these things where families can all get involved but i think where the technology will even go further is getting on the ride sitting next to someone and each of you have to totally different experiences new ways to maybe experienced old classics. Maybe on mansion get something. Where maybe there's a vr headset involve. We've seen this at other attractions elsewhere or a component on your you know Magic band plus but ways to experience the attractions in new light with new set of eyes. And you can experience it differently from a person in the doom buggy behind you earn the doom buggy forty. I'm not saying they're changing haunted mansion. Don't don't another guys. Don't come at me bro. That's another or y'all. But i think there's so much potential with that going forward. I'm gonna let i'm gonna throw one last thing out there and it's possibly wishful thinking but i. I really do believe that it's going to be true. And i'm not one to throw out dates or date ranges. But i think this will happen within the next decade. There is no way that marvel is not going to come to walt disney world disney and going to work out the details of that archaic agreement that happened pre mc you because i'm sure if i'm universal there's a lot of reasons fiscal and otherwise but the characters were. They are living in a time. That kids can't relate to. And i think there's a there's a very much of a disconnect for kids waiting to see you characters and i'm like wait a minute that guys wear and underpants and wearing yellow tights. I think it just has to chain. Look even in california like it's not marvel spiderman. It's not so there's a lot of things that are sort of blocking the way for just a natural progression. And i think those hurdles will without a doubt be overcome much to the joy of nerds around the world. I agree with you that it's it's going to happen some day. It's a matter of when that's going to happen. Because there's a lot of money at stake thursday lou at www thursday and they're changing the haunted mansion. Okay we're announcing you now is that we're doing. Yeah seriously it. It does make business sense for both sides. It makes sense for dizzy to acquire those rights. Back it also makes sense for universal to hold onto a long as they can to get the best deal that they can for it so eventually those two sides have got to come to. Some sort of agreement is going to happen this year next year. Five years from now. Who knows when. But hopefully it will happen so becky. What you're saying is disney's purchase universal becky at me. I travel dot com. She called here on october. Four i wanna do. I wanna do events over here. Marvel offense like you have no idea so remember. I know i know someday. Someday we'll talk about this on the whiteboard. Is it well. It wasn't the whiteboard and he stopped telling me look with with fifty years of history and legacy and memories and all these other things. There's obviously we can touch on it all. I think this was a really interesting. Look at the past and present and the future. I certainly want to hear from you. Our friend who is sitting out here on a glorious evening dizzy springs by the way. What your thoughts are. Share your thoughts your memories of the past present future. What you miss. "To be the place to be when those go off and i had the magic on my list as well because it was so unexpected I think i remember hearing something about something going on with the four pieces but it didn't really resonate to me how it was being explained but then seeing that for the first time at epcot and how happy it made me in how joyous it was to see it turn into it turned into I got see that one. I got to see the castle magic kingdom. But now i wanna see the two. Because i didn't get a chance in unfortunately before i get a chance to that that's going to be one of the first things i wanna do when i come back. Yeah it's a it's a reason to not. Just stay in the parks that night but to go and visit of anything in the present that you guys want to touch on there to to quickly the expansion of france. I really think that's a beautiful space. I think it's really nice to walk back there. The the right side of just being able to go back in that little corner always loved france for its design and the fountains to add this additional space back there and then the crabs are amazing. I sat there. And i had my little crap and i. It made me feel like i did. When i was actually embarrassed that it's authentic it's really good Good food but the one. I wanna bring up because i want to hear what everybody thinks about it so i have some thoughts besides the bishop to twenty. I didn't get to go to twenty Begins flight having enchantment. I want to talk about in chapman. Because it's interesting is i. I saw it twice and a stream of it. And the first time i saw it it did hit me emotionally in a couple of places. It was because of the marriage of the music. The pyro and the projections. So you brought them all together and i felt it Being able to see the projections we saw it from the rooftop at contemporary the other night and it didn't have that same hit to me of emotion as it did. Because you don't see the projections you just see the pilot the music so i really believe that. You can't judge enchantment based on anything that is streaming again much like harmonious and not even just watching it from the lagoon or watching it from the beach at poly you. You really do need to be standing there in the hub or a little bit farther back on main streets you get the whole projection feel and you get to see what's on the castle and you get to see the the pyro and you have the music blaring at you. I think that particular show in general is meant to be seen in person with all of that around you. Three sixty to really have the impact that they're trying to give you. Yeah i agree. Placements just like disneyland. Do you know where you watch. The mixed magic show is important. And i think the sweet spot is just a little bit north of center street on main street. You're saying because. I i still have not seen the projections as well anything else. Present time just the enchantment. I i've only seen it. The ones To me it. It is what the fireworks should be. I mean sadly like connor mentioned earlier about eliminations reflections for being there for twenty years it that is in our head nothing will ever top. It wishes by far one of the most beautiful fireworks. We all love it. The music jimmy cricket part But happily ever after when that started like connor mention. Everybody is up in arms. And i saw it and i was like okay. It's a fun show three years later when it went away i was sad because it does have that emotional touch especially when tinkerbell flies this one. I saw the first night i was there live. I was mostly sitting behind my camera. Filming it so to me. It's it's a normal fire. Disney fireworks show. It is set to bring the fields of the kids that have seen all of the current disney movies again. It's not about us old people. We aren't the ones that are spending the money on everything. Sorry connor to jump punitive. It's about starting the new memories for the kids and throwing in riot throwing in everything current it just each each year or just like design each couple years of brand new firework show. This i hope will be the new. Walt disney world trend of changing things up. So it's not just wishes constantly and i. I don't say that. Because i wanted to change. I enjoyed it. I definitely want a second viewing a third viewing a hundred view in. And i'm sure by that point all fall in love with it. Completely to the enchantment is more of a personal show rather than a show for the masses. Because i think each person takes away based on their view of what they're seeing and hearing so there was one piece in it. That was fine watching it. I was i. I love the pyro because it is a new technology in the pyro that i haven't seen before making shapes and things that i haven't seen them do which i appreciated that there was one piece that like spoke to fourteen year. Old me out of the out of the blue. And i wasn't anticipating it. Something was narrated and the song came behind. It and i was sitting there in tears because it spoke to something personal to me and i think that this show really does Laser target into an individual. Look i'm going to say it And i'm admitting. I need to see both of these shows again in different contexts than than the chaos. That was those last few days. I felt more from enchantment. Than i did from harmonious i did. There were certain elements there. I don't want to go into the breaking down. Well you know those were story. There's more wonder there's more adventure. We're matt because it again. I think you're right i. It's personal. But i sort of felt that little bit of feel thing going on admittedly i also have a soft spot for magic kingdom. So i think that's part of the reason why i think for me i. I've only seen want so far. And i need to see it on main street with all the projections with everything to to get full. Feel for it. But i saw it first on october first and i went with a couple of friends to an area that i used to always love watching wishes and happily ever after which was behind the castle. More towards beast's castle. That was an emotional thing for me. Because i we used to work at some doors. Mine train so. When i would stand outside i would watch wishes from there every night. This attraction are. I'm sorry this nighttime spectacular It has to be from the front of the castle. I don't think you can watch their. Don't think it's gonna come off the same as when you watch it at the tangled bathrooms which was another location. I really loved to watch fireworks at. I think you have to watch it in the front. So i think that that's something to be aware of but another thing is when happily ever after started the song grew on me i. I don't think i liked it to begin with both for whatever reason. The original song and enchantment. I'd like it more right now than when i first heard happily ever after i think the potential for that song is so much more. I don't know what it is but inside me. I'm just gravitating towards that song more than when i heard happily ever after for the very first time me a little your to match come on. That's all right. I don't disagree with you. I don't dispute but let's let's move into the future and some things that we are excited for. We are anticipating or even maybe something that we are predicting for the short and long term future. This one's interesting. I'm i'm excited for competition. I think that. I know we don't like to talk about you. Know the wiki watch. It's fine. I get out the the the the you word. You know so universal universal which i often like to describe as you know place for spiderman limitless. Sure when you go to the family reunion. Then you're older. Teenage cousin is kind of cool. Maybe he smokes. I don't know that's kind of universal. Right now is they're they're cool. They're cool now. They're cool. they're cool but Little edgy little different. But they're doing a lot of really really cool stuff over there. Epoch universe is going to add another theme park maybe even two. They have plenty of land a bunch of hotels. I think the competition of what they're doing is only going to drive disney to innovate to create and to build more incredible things that we can Experience of course in the parks but one great thing about this is you don't have to go to universal to benefit from this competition disney's going to compete with universal whether you go. They're not they're trying to pull people away from there. Just like universal is trying to pull people away from disney. If you're disney vending you're only disney fan. This competition is gonna be great if you continue to only go to the disney parks. I've said for years. The best thing to happen to walt disney world university is opening down the street. The because we as guests we benefit from blance disney universal. The only winner are the guests. The that's the only winner dan. I totally agree. That i love. I love that fact though. Because it's an it's not that they're trying to pull guests from each other because they both have a separate different type of target audience and as you grow out of one out of the smaller children in your family. You have the teenagers a want. The epoch roller coasters. In so there is an answer for every family by coming to orlando in general. So you can come to disney and you can go to universal and it's great so i love the competitive nature of it because we know that when universal kind of hit the ground running with dig- anneli. There was some people over on this side. That were like They told a pretty good story. There how can we went up and like you spoke to be said your points. We all win. So what's on your list. I'm going to say starker right off the bat. Not only. Because i've had to live breathe and think about it the last week And we'll be starting tomorrow quite a lot. But i love the idea of this. Because it's a disruptor. I love a good disruptor because it's thinking out of the box it's something very unique if it works or not over time is going to be the the biggest Question however i'm gonna. I'm gonna go out on a limits it's gonna wind. I'm thinking over thinking about over five years when you're charging this kind of money for this type of experience is going to work or not. That's that's a question. But i think it will too and if it does imagine what other people will do that. Same type of idea Universal could take hogwarts to a whole new level with that but it's in the in the general hospitality industry of what can happen. When you am truly immerse guest in an experience. And i'm excited to see what comes of it. We're we are no longer. Well what's the theme park experience. Where we as guests. No longer wanna be passive observers. We want to be active participants. And i think we're gonna see that. Not just in places like the galactic star cruiser. I think you're gonna start to see places like the disney wish and future cruises and certainly attractions. Well yeah i this black star cruiser. He as becky was saying. And i think you both kind of alluded to how is it going to change in five years because is a star wars fan. Want to be one of the first people there. All my other star wars fans want to be the first people there after the first three years where every single star wars fan has been there. Will it start to decline or will they go. Hey you know what here's mission to. Here's mission three. Let's let's make it so can time travel so we can face darth vader. Those are the things that i look forward to seeing the most i mean i i can't wait to step foot in the star cruiser and experiences at but it will be watching it grow and change and just like connor hussein with universal. Everything universal does comes back to disney. We have disney. Mgm studios disney's hollywood studios because universal. We have rock and roller coaster. We have tara terror because they wanted the thrill rides. So i think we will. We will see something from universal down the line and then i'll come back full circle to disney going. Let's top this. I don't think i i for the future. I don't believe that we will see a fifth park at walt disney world. Within the next fifteen years. I i'll save fifteen. I don't think much longer that they'll probably find something. But that is something universals epic universe still that name I think will cause ripples in the theme park industry and those ripples will be good for us as for my look at the future. The two things that are on the immediate horizon. Not horizons The tron light cycle run. I had the ability to ride that. When i was in shanghai. Just a great attraction. It tells great story it has the emotional ties and hopefully hopefully hopefully. Hopefully it'll get enough people watching tron and tron legacy to get that third one out But something that you and. I both got to experience a few days. Ago was guardians galaxy cosmic rewind. We had the chance to walk into that massive building. I can't overlay. you can't understate. How big this building i know. I was trying to described my friend. How when you walk in there like the engineers had to tell me to watch my step. Because i couldn't look down. I was just staring up. It is so massive and anybody. That's gone on people mover in seen space mountain with lights on. You understand what it coaster looks like. This coaster is all around you and again to jump back to the universal. There are screens on this. But it's gonna be screens directed by james gunn starring the actual guardians a galaxy. How can this attraction go wrong. I i shouldn't have said that but the nice thing is it's an omni coaster then the new terminology that they're doing and yes. It's going to be a bit of a thrill. And they put it in between seven dwarfs mine train big thunder on the thrill so it is the transition for the family for the kids you know and i. I think this coaster will have the tie. I you know. Yes the coasters that we all grew up with. There was no ip we. We all have space mel. We all have big thunder mountain but guardians galaxy. I i know. Lou and i have talked for days about marvel stuff so this is just going to be. I think that this will be one. That will change the game for epcot. I think one it's going to change the game for rollercoasters because this omni coaster is much like the omni move where you could move the full vehicle and as director can literally direct people to the scenes. You wanted to see as opposed to looking around on your own. It's going to change against that setting the bar higher for everyone else that we can only imagine based on what we've seen in things like the mission breakout in california adventure the music what what else are gonna be able to bring into this attraction for me as i'm normally want to do it. It's not necessarily the things that i know about again. This in the immediate future cosmic rewind tron light cycle power. Run like little lou. Mondello riding on the light cycle. What i've always dreamed about. And i've done it in shanghai. You know how committing that is. Princess and the frog disney genie the play pavilion in epcot. In which we don't know a lot about For me it's the stuff that we don't know that has me most excited And were we keep talking about things like interactivity personalization. We're seeing that more and more. We hear a little about more about what this magic band plus might do. And this is sort of. I think the very tip of the iceberg in terms of what that device and our app which is now not the thing that we used want our kids to keeping a pocket but we have to take out So i actually think in terms of things that have not been announced that we will see in long term. Future is much like where we are. The first and only i ever saw was literally right here. I would bet dollars to donuts. We're going to see a drone show There's gonna be a night-time drone show. I'm gonna run everglades really quick. Oh best chicken sandwich anywhere in the world. Not just the walt disney world and what. I also that the next step of the experience for us as guests especially for younger guests. I looked at is that we want and they want not the past experience. They want interactivity. they want personalization. I also think what we're gonna start to see that continuing gamification of our experiences. I think our phone is not just going to be a portal to things that will interact in the environment. I think we're gonna see a are on our phone. And i think there's going to be more for us to do when you're not doing anything right things to do while you're waiting in line. Remember way back when when soren had the interactive game and space mountain had what it now is a rudimentary game. They don't need to build that into a pavilion anymore. they're able to build it into our phone I also think and not to get overly nerdy I think that an fte's nerd ner. I actually dated once i think. Nfc's non fungible tokens and i think the collections and collectibles that are digital in nature are going to be part of the walt disney world theme. Park experience. I think we might not necessarily have to see the chaos that sometimes ensues when a new lounge fly dooney tumbler. Whatever comes out because we are going to own trade display and share these digital assets. And if you've ever bought a skin on fortnight if you've ever upgraded something in a video game if you've ever bought a digital collectible like that you own an nfc. And i think over time this is going to start to become more into the everyday vernacular it. We're very early on in. Jeremiah is actually showing some things that some of the nf teas that he actually owns on his phone on the play disney app. I mean to jump onto this. The plate is nap has some great interactively but it the the badges the achievements are something that i pride myself on. I will send messages to my friend in california. When i get a new bed just to mock him the disney. Wish the the upcoming Becky what's the name of the interactive game on there. I can't think of it off the top. My head current no upcoming disney wish the with the spyglass. Oh yes yes. That was. When when i was able to talk to the creative people behind that and they said you'll be playing all the mid ship games on your phone i said is there chievements. And they're like you know it's funny you are not the first person asked about that because we're shall be the last thing you talk about the past. Yeah those achievements. Don't cost anything other than waiting in line. I got the ramiz ready to adventure one. I got the fiftieth one. I went opening day for star wars galaxy edge. Purposefully just to get that. And it's it's a draw. I mean i think play disney app is one of those underrated things that hasn't been talked about since before the pandemic and it's just a lot of fun to do all you see in galaxy's edge where the skin changes to something that looks like a data pad and i think that was one of the very early testbed for interacting with the physical environment as well as interacting with an a. Our environment as well. There's a reason why the gaming industry is actually much more profitable and makes much more money than even the entertainment industry is because people do get addicted to these games and it's easy to be pulled.

"The place that i go to the most colorado's the kids say word to your mother. Right isn't that isn't that. No don't you dare talk about my mother got that listen. You don't remember the joy that was vanilla ice anyway. He does some home makeovers. Now i will tell you seem hormonal the thing that i have been so incredibly impressed with and i made sure i didn't watch any videos or even trying look at any pictures. All four parks now have as their version of maybe you know their kissed nights and sort of the way to say good night to guess our beacons of light and the new magic is calling anthem more poorly spaceship earth beacons of light show at the end of the night is absolutely breathtaking gorgeous. I could out there and watch that over and over again. I i think it's gorgeous I think you said beacons of light. It's the beacons of match. Because i am sure that you got that from me because i was saying beacons of light for the longest time. No i you. And i saw at the same time. The spaceship earth. Just we've seen projections. We saw micro ski. We saw death star random things and it was great as projections. But i feel with the new lights on there. That just became one of the biggest tapestries. That walt disney world has an the point where they turn it into the the globe from eliminations reflections of earth. And it looks just like the bad. Led's from the nineties panning arms are early. Two thousands panting around and doing the world. It was just i. i was breath. My breath was gone. I i can't even speak about it anymore. It was definitely something i when i moved out. Here i was oh go see womb nations every night or the fireworks. That is something that i would stick around epcot for the night and it's not even like a show. It's just a minute of that. And then what they can do with the technology and there was something about it and it's funny. I did have an emotional reaction. Because i think it was being in that plaza. The prison being there again. The lights the flags the monorail with that. Cool sort of underlining on as it comes byles like as as new as this is something nostalgic about it and it just it hit me it did it hit me in all the right field and i think that that i think species birth is absolutely gorgeous. But there's that spontaneity factor again to. It's not just once a night. It's like what fifteen twenty minutes something like that. But you don't necessarily know when that little presentation is going to happen. You just hear the rumble years. Something happening you turn and look towards it and much like what. All these were built for weenies to wean us into the parks to wenas at certain areas we gravitate towards it and then we get the all look and share and be quiet and appreciate for about a minute this cool little presentation that transform. Something that we've looked at so many times all four of those those beacons we've seen so many times at so many different times of day over the years but now they're all completely new and it's incredible and what i love about spatial birth is that you can see it from everywhere you can see it from everywhere in that park you can see from outside the park think about all the different resorts knowing that. You're able to look at a chance to take a look at the new reserve over the swan a dolphin which has three hundred sixty degree practically views on the top and single and you can see space of earth in the distance. And i could imagine just how gorgeous that's going to be seeing the fireworks but seeing that weenie so well off in the distance every rooftop restaurant or bar is going to be the place to be when those go off and i had the magic on my list as well because it was so unexpected I think i remember hearing something about something going on with the four pieces but it didn't really resonate to me how it was being explained but then seeing that for the first time at epcot and how happy it made me in how joyous it was to see it turn into it turned into I got see that one. It's about starting the new memories for the kids and throwing in riot throwing.

"A policy will continue from last season during the corona virus restart bubble at Walt Disney World well the NBA won't test for marijuana there will still be random testing for performance enhancing products and what the league called drugs of abuse such as methamphetamine and cocaine decriminalizing marijuana has been a major topic at the government level for years and has been the case in the sports world as well American sprinter Shikari Richardson was left off the U. S. Olympic roster in Tokyo following a positive test for marijuana more than half of states in the US have decriminalized possessing small amounts of marijuana I'm a Donahue

"Seen harmonious twice and admittedly. I need to see it again. Because i there was something that i did not feel and i'm not saying that i need to feel every time i see a show. I could just enjoyed for what it is like. I didn't cry at spectrum. i didn't cry. You know paint. Or maybe a little but on a very emotional person cry when my food comes out so just whatever. I didn't get that feeling. I thought there was a there was a moment of of disharmony. Inharmonious their element. I think the mwana section the milan section. I love the fact that they had hunchback in there. I think they're spectacular. We've seen it from two different locations. I want to sort of see it again. And again and i understood. Look there are different. People feel that there are different elements missing whether it is a cohesive story line whether it's the music and the music is disjointed because there are different languages sort of being you know every other word is sometimes a different language so for some people. It's it's there's disharmony for them But every show kept everything to all people and everything can't be everybody's favorite to right and one of the things. That i was i was joking about. Which would this make you more emotionally tied. If all of a sudden you know lights up and james spader walks through it. why would james spader. Why would that make me emotional surrogate. Why not because it goes visit navy. Thought altron i was thinking ultra eighty film. Okay let's let's forget more to your speed it lights up and macondo people walk through it and it honda. It's like others light up and food comes out then black panther wasser. There's all kinds of things that they can do with it. And i understand i to quickly. No it doesn't have to in one of the things that i loved about. Nations was then. This is a separate topic for. Saturday is the lack of ip that. I think some people wanted that we see as epcot continues to evolve. Look remember when the seas- change from the living seas to the seas with needle and friends. I think it's the first time that the internet sort of broke in a meaningful way because all of a sudden how can you possibly bring. Ipm epcot all the people. That road maelstrom all day all night when it became frozen walser collective morals as well. Yeah and and it's turned out to be good moves for families it's turned out to be good moves for the location because it is now a park where before people were thinking. I can't bring my kids. There's nothing for my kids to do. It's it's only pretty much for the adults now. It really is a family destination for those changes and for us. We have our memories of a look at the three old people at the table including myself for us. We do have those memories of of things that happened in the eighties and nineties. However the kids of today their members are going to start with frozen their memories are going to start with these new things that we you know the internet lights on fire about. But that's gonna be the thing that they're emotional about that they connect to so it's just the next version of what disney is is telling the story they're telling right and you have to sort of sometimes forgive that maybe not snow white and pinocchio and instead it's onward and cocoa and riot in the last dragon and chapman. I'm looking at you sort of some of the other discussions that people are having because is look every guest that walks into walt. Disneyworld is not an insert your age here. There is another generation. That's coming up at these. Are the movies that these are the classic movies for them that they are growing up. I mean you know. I wanted to give him movie. I didn't get any presents there. I would like you know power line to make an appearance but i think the most important thing about this is that for a lot of people harmonious is gonna be there eliminations. And you know that's just the way it's gonna be. They're gonna come at that time when harmonious is it for them and it becomes their illuminations. And that's okay exactly and that's the first showed they're gonna see for the first time visiting walt disney world and that's gonna be the memory that she carries forward. Is that emotional thing. And then in fifteen years that daughter will complain about whatever changes you know we. We are definitely the. Hey you get off my illuminations fart. But it is something that you know and just like becky and connor abo- said we need to accept as a human being that we age and things come after us and they they have to enjoy things. Not just the constant. Love of food rapper. Rapper magic how boring disney would be. Nothing had changed since the beginning. It's not a museum for so no. Yeah that was. That was a perfect segue into more walt. That concludes part one of our look at the fifty year celebration of walt disney world. We looked the past some of the president next week. We'll talk more about some of the things that we are loving and enjoying here and the president as well as what we're most excited for animals share my predictions for what i think is coming in the future. Please make sure you tune. "What it did but all of those. You know year long celebrations. Obviously we have a pretty big one right now. But i kinda missed. The ones that were weren't so much marketing weren't so much. come here. Were more you know about the year of a million dreams sort of things you know helping people out making memories things like that. I thought all of those for a good long. While we're we're really really really not only popular but but great ideas on my list. Good and i. I have a love hate relationship with it because i never nothing not. Give me a pin. Can you let did i went to the level. Oh look there's lumine jello run. Run is just going to talk about as podcast. Then we're gonna get ambushed by these people about. That was the surprise and delight. And i know the reason why you may not like it but i loved the ability to just make. Somebody's day and it didn't have to be something big. It could be something small pin fast. Pass anything. i think that that was one of the most brilliant campaigns that they've ever done that embodied so many different guests and gave benefits to so many different guests in were still walking around with those memories and talking about it today more importantly it empowered the cast members to do what cast members do which is make people happy and yes. They had things that you know at four zero seven. Pm row to seat. Three of kilimanjaro safari. But there were also when. I'm still friends with some of the members of the dream squad. Throw me a pin man. It's been fourteen years right but but they're able to go up and make magic for people. And that i think is is the perfect cast member role. But let's we clean move from the past into that. I just like to say. I miss ditches great escape. I'm kidding attraction. Suck tom kidding. I'm kidding. I everyone Yeah i i miss haiti. That's what i. That's what i miss you. Misuse it great escape. You meant supersonic celebration. Both of them I will say a relatively new one that we just recently lost which i loved so much the disney must use featuring stacey It's transitioned i will say on. I m b. as a nine point three out of ten and it's not because i've created twenty four separate accounts logged in but those are two. I think when you walk in to your hotel room very much always the beginning of the trip you turn on the tv. That's the first thing you would see. And i think It was very special for a lot of people for for many many many years and had a couple of durations. But i mean it ran its course but it was definitely something i always look forward to everybody's friend she was if you're talking about things that you don't miss from the past extraterrestrial is my all the back of your head. It's it spits on you. This thing is are. We learned about the alien the alien that i stand that i can tell you that there. There are very few things that my first visit that. I was dying for dying to get on american adventure just because that is one of the most iconic attractions for epcot the twilight zone tariff terror. They just moved it into the fear. Every drop version five point. Oh or something and the george. Lucas presents the extraterrestrial alien counter. As i am i won't i won't fight that but it was such. It was the the attraction that you never thought you would see and in in the magic kingdom and sadly it you know it turned into one of the worst punch lines as connor just pointed out of stitches. Great escape but it was. I wanna say it was almost walt like where he wanted to challenge the guests with new attractions and new adventures. I i don't know won't ever would have had you know something licking the back of your neck. But it was the animatronic this sir was amazing. Skippy was by far skippy. Was one of the best. Non p plush next figment in disney history. And now he's gone by way of the dodo but alien counter was by far one of my favorite attractions. And i'd love watching everybody just walking out of there screaming screaming. That was my mom by the way. Just say i remember. I literally remember the day we got off. My dad and i were like dots awesome. My mother's like. I wanna talk to a manager. I'm kidding she didn't say that. But we talked about this. Because it was such a non walt disney world like attraction and the fact that they were pushing the envelope. Because and you can credit this to michael eisner who after the attraction soft opening. Shut this down. Make it scarier because he realized that he was losing the thirteen to twenty four year old. You know teenage boy. Who wanted something exciting to get. Your blood pumping was for everybody. Absolutely not not everything is necessarily supposed to be but i sort of love the fact that they push the envelope especially in a place like magic kingdom so but let's move from the past into the present and i really wanna hear about five ish things that were really enjoying most right now including end. Or what's new right. We just you know as we're celebrating. We're beginning to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of walt disney. World there have been in the introduction of probably more than the average guest might realize. There's a lot. Actually that was introduced. Even though we didn't get everything that we were supposed to because of the pandemic. But what are the things that you are loving right now. Either in terms of what brand new for the fifth anniversary just in general you know twenty twenty one to me. I'm gonna go with. The first thing that i thought of and this is probably going to be controversial. I can't wait to kind of hear everybody else's thoughts about this and lou may have to edit me. I'm not exactly sure. I adore harmonious. I absolutely love it. There is a story. I've i've watched the internet light itself on fire right afterwards. I think people made a mistake of watching the stream. Because if you're watching a stream you're getting what the director end or person that's filming it. is important to them not necessarily important to you and there is a story. This story is his random stuff. No there's a story it's it's drawn between it to unite all.

"Such a special meaning because that was our very first event we ever did together between me. I and wwe radio. So i will jump ahead to future projection. Because i think that you will not adventures percents. I think that you will see that type of experience. Because i think what we are looking for as guests is something we always want something more right. We always want something more. And then we'll talk about the interactivity aspect of it. But i think it can come back not in the same way and i mean this affectionally but people like jeremiah. Kill the adventures club. Because you would go and you'd sit there for six hours and you'd have a water because there was there was no way to monetize because there was no food there was no it wasn't food there was no There no merchandise. Unfortunately other than the plastic cup which i still have so the locals and the fans and the cast members off a who were not on who sat there for hours because it was the place that called home. Unfortunately it's expensive to run something where you have actors and performers and musicians. No i absolutely agree. And as i said my i. My roommate was one of the actors. I'm not gonna say anything more And he one of the things that we were just talking about about coming back. It could never come back as it was. It wasn't politically correct. Then they had vast freedom. I can remember sitting in there one of my favorite memories. Is this woman who may have had few too. Many many congolese was standing up along the zebra mezzanine in a skirt yelling down at the actors. Lake blah blah blah blah blah and. One of them looked up. Goes you realize you're wearing a short skirt. And we can have an angle at and she just got so embarrassed and walk out and you know in. I don't want to get into the cancer culture that type of stuff but we could not do those type of things now. And yes. But i would go and i always buy a cherry coke. Yeah it was always my thing and yes they'd be. Oh no you get one refill. I always made a point to keep it going and pain because that was the reason why the adventures co pleasure island close. It turned into a locals area. And i bought my annual pass every year. I'd have an annual pass pleasure island more than have an annual pass to walt disney world. Because it was a fun place to go and the annual passes were sixty dollars so you can have every night while you're here right for for anybody who's listening who's like disneyworld nickel and dime vote. You used to have to pay a separate admission fee just to walk into what was then a very very different pleasure out. Do you imagine like going to the future again. But something like a dinner club in that environment. Where you had one seating of people will have to. I think i i i i see something. We'll be three seatings a night and there'll be a hard stop at a certain time so you can go five to seven seven to nine night whatever it might be even an hour and a half you know type of seating and how because that's what let's go way way back like where the tomorrowland terrorism still going to call it. The noodle station currently sits that was supposed to be an explorer's club we're gonna have galileo tell you never listened to w. ever good lord get this woman at trivia book. It was going to be an explorer's club and they were gonna have live actors. Walking around with the problem was going to be. You're going to have people like me. Connor jeremiah sitting there for six hours time. Just taking it all in and you can't turn tables that way so yeah i can recall seeing those plans and thinking that was one of the most amazing things possible. But just like you said and we've seen i. I worked for a local dinner. Show here that we have one show we get them in. Get them out. But i've seen dinner shows that work more with the buffet and they can't hoop de do i mean that's why won't do two shows night won't do it but movie and looking at me. Nobody seemed beetle juice. Good good lord only quote like three movies and by the way just as a little bit of asterisk. I believe that there is prime opportunity for this dinner. Show like experience to possibly tie into a little thing that we like to call the sea. And that's all. I'm going to say about it. I'm not saying please please go back and watch Listen to podcast at the sea. All fifteen of them wasn't that like two hours long. It was a very thorough and complete. Look at the counter. The sea dare do. It's a long historical you know there's a lot to cover cover. I'm buying a ticket every single night for like a month straight because that would just it would kill my one thing that i wanna to say and can i sort of all over the place and and i wanna to be clear in fifty years. There's a lot of things that we're not talking about. Individual attractions cast members events special. Things went on. But i'm actually gonna take you back almost to the day thirty years to october. First two thousand one becky's what happened back then thirty years but whatever you twenty years sorry we have to look. I haven't in like twenty minutes all right bear with me man. Patrick listen let me get to the point. The hundred years of magic celebration kicked off october. First two thousand one twenty years ago was Was something that that honored. Walt disney and i think in this actually help. I think maybe segues into what's currently isn't happening. Currently i love the fact that this hundred years of magic celebration was not about an attraction not about ip but it really was about walt himself It opened one. Mainstream opened at that time. Which i think for a lot of people was their first and only introduction to walt disney. The man the human being the dad the businessmen all the other things I for one am somebody who wants i. I love waltz presence in the park. I want to see more of waltz presence in the park. And i thought that's what twenty years ago..

"Parade back but any what is the snow if you could bring back one you have to choose right now. Oh i'd love to paint night in talking about that. I mean you won't but no but something to maybe look forward to. I just skipped ahead on you but That's something that i really enjoyed about. Disney in general is the night time parades and not to have one especially right now. Seems like it's a missing piece of the puzzle. But i remember standing out there the first couple of times that i visited match kingdom and watch the nighttime parade it was that just magical uplifting feeling that you should have when you walk into the magic kingdom so i completely agree with you. I do want to serve no which parade you wish you can have back so we are just literally hours after the october celebration. We all talked about. What are they gonna do we. We were sort of question. Why wasn't anything announces it. Listen if disney wants to blow people's minds you don't announce anything all you do is eight o'clock you turn down the light and magic kingdom and you roll out that main street electrical parade and the just i mean obviously didn't happen but that would have been the coolest thing because that's the parade that i have memories of as a kid and just very personalized and very grateful and blessed for being able to do what i do. One of my coolest over memories ever was being able to go backstage into the parade barn when they were bringing the prayed back. And i actually got to sit in and spin around in one of the little float. It is the cool off the post. I'll post a video in the In the show notes from a nerdy fan perspective is one of the cool saddam for nighttime prayed. Spectra magic i as a california boy. The mainstream trade has blown away. What fifteen times on me i. They're very few things that i feel burnt by disney but the first time the mainstream frayed glue away i cried. I made plans to be there on that first. Final night and then they decided that they sold so much merchandise to extend another three months and then it came back and dca. It came back it. Walt disney world came back disneyland. I'm not saying that. I don't get teary eyed. Every time i hear the opening ounce -ment but if the main street electrical parade were to be sunk at the bottom of lake wayne vista. I wouldn't complain but spectrum harsh. It's a little hard. I know and i am sure that you'll get a lot of feedback. Never have jeremiah again. But spectrum magic was such a unique thing to walt disneyworld because it was the only part that had that and the floats were amazing and the music still. I'd rather put on spectrum than most other nighttime celebrations fireworks parades. Yeah it's just because it had so much fun to it and it wasn't it was music and characters especially if you go back to the original with roger rabbit on there and everything and just how much fun it is and to hear the voices but i do love main street electrical parade. I i will definitely go. If does show up disneyland or someplace else in the future but spectrum magic for me was always the best even with those like weird guys illuminated face people. Yes i i can remember those and you know to this day. I have to console friends. That i stuff. Go to therapy for us. It's petro magic for me as well. However i do you have ingrained in your head ladies gentlemen boys and girls the mainstream electorate in the techno voice. And everything like that. i think. What's so cool about all those parades though as you know you can. You can see a parade in your your local hometown but disney does the best parade. You can see a fourth of july firework show in your local hometown but disney does the best fireworks. You can't see nighttime parade anywhere. You can't see a parade covered in millions of lights anywhere. And because they're already doing the best parades and they're doing that that you're never going to see anywhere else. That's why i think all those nighttime parades are so important to the history of disney and hopefully important to future of disney as well. I know that. I can't be on a show and we talked about nighttime parades. I know this. Isn't walt disney world but light magic. That's that's all i'm gonna say. Well beg is going paint tonight. Eight tonight tonight is pretty special to would love to see a person of that or some sort of a version of that here because it really does draw you in. Were some times know. You've seen main street electrical parade a few times. That's the time that you go san line in the in the sandbox but especially for us from the california side of things because we did see it over and over again but I would really like to see a nighttime prayed back. I really do no light magic for me. If i mean that's those are curse words to disney fans I was that was to me the right age. I saw the electric braid glow away. It came. I was at the annual pass holder night. Where paul pressler made the mistake going. This is a dress rehearsal and seeing every single annual pass holders start guest relations and line up down main street to complain but it was. That was the first street tackler. Show it if you you trace back things to light magic. And you'll see how appraised that lasted three months has affected parades and shows for the future. What else is is on your list from the past. Do you want me to list off really quickly or do you want me to go detail. How long do we want this. You got a minute and a half. i'm a little bit more but Well i did one for each of the parks. 'cause we had journey to imagination for magic kingdom to me Something that really disneyland stands out in. This facet is water transportation along the rivers america. I was out here just in time to ride on the mike tyson. Keelboats one last time and to me. Those were the most fun because it was jungle cruise without animals. They could have the fun. And then i never got a chance to see the canoes. But you know when matching r- open. They had well after the open. Ed to paddle wheelers. Now it's down to one. They have that. And the rafts thompson islands. You know canoes. The is was a smoking section for years. now go and relax section. The mike think keelboat. That area is now part of the queue honey mansions extended. It was always you know. Wall talked about disneyland. How he loves seeing all the river traffic and magic kingdom. It's kinda like okay. Here comes the liberty bell and there goes the liberty bell and then maybe a raft So that's for magic kingdom for berkeley. I agree a thousand percents. Little gully won't burn the birth of may and the canoes going. You're right there. Was this not just a wonderful kinetic element to but there was something simple and beautiful.

"I don't wanna say classics sort of visual archway. That i think you're right to sort of embodies the spirit of the of the season even beyond just all the holiday treats and storytellers interesting. I think all three of us not lou. Our first trip was nine hundred ninety six. I'll put this nicely. I was a little younger than my fellow. Yes here today. I'm just trying to be factual in womb. Does not count. You know when when. I hear you know lights of winter and things like that. I know that from a historical perspective. But i don't necessarily know it from a remembering of of an experiencing it sort of thing when it comes to something like that for me. The holidays it's osbourne family lights. That was the thing for me. And i might run run a site called. Wcw opinion. i know everyone has opinions and stuff. There's only one opinion. You could have about osborne and that was. It was incredible. I it as far as disney is concerned when you walk into a park. You're supposed to be awestruck right. You're supposed to be stunned and that always did it for me. I also know you know as my college program. When i worked down here It was last year of osborne at hollywood studios. And i got to go as a cast member preview and i will always hold that memory very very near and dear to my heart so when it comes to the holidays. That is the thing that i will always always miss. I think it was done so well and disney saw this opportunity and totally capitalized on it. since you brought that up that is another one. That's on the list. Because osbourne lights was one of the things you look forward to. That was one of the things that hit me so emotionally that that became the thing i needed to do as an event every single year i would buy it out so one hundred fifty people could be on the streets for thirty minutes and do cartwheels up and down the street to celebrate being with each other and being part of of this wonderful disney community that we have and with your families. I mean that's again another thing to share during the holiday season which disney is surrounded around the holiday season for me and when it went away i was really hoping they would find another way to bring that back. Sorry to jump in to kind of give a little bit of motion to another thing Give kids the world kind of inherited their lights and during the pandemic with all with the restrictions they took the chance to. It's a million lights. Isn't that the title. And i got a chance walked out last year. It was just. It brought back the feels of osborne and knowing the story of give kids the world that was just another layer to bringing those lights to deeper into your heart and it. I think osborne. I think even more so than lights a winter up kat had an emotional component to it because it was amazing to see you know the streets all it up but when it darkened and the music came on. I'm sure we all had individual tracks loved something that that very much. Hit you in all the fields. If you're maybe whether it was at one of the parties we would lay down under the canopy sort of watched that fremont light three months street like it like experience but i think you're right what i want to give control last year to see and there's a much more deeper significant real emotional aspect that comes with it and hopefully comes back this year. If you've never been to give kids the world go during the holidays. Yeah and even if you even if it's not during the holidays go and volunteer there. One day. It is a life gingy experience and i actually believe that i had on my list is because now this is great because i see the one in Nineteen eighty two is a very first year that Make a wish granted. The i wish to walt disney world has since then there's been like two hundred thousand or so wishes it is like the number one thing and i have to sort of. It's not even a plug because it's a good thing because of you you. All of you listener the dream team product. Misery is more than half a million dollars for. Make a wish to help. Send some of those kids to walt disney world. Now i'm gonna start crying but it is So all of that is significant. And i love how of around full circle to. What's what's under like we. How am i supposed to talk about your favorite chiro I think much like becky said my first thoughts were to epcot. I mean i. I have many things that grew out of the idea of cut and those but One of my one of the things that i miss the most is the original journey. No match nation When i first came it was that was you know i knew who figment was but i'd never experienced dream. Finder had never gotten a chance to go on the attraction from california. It was all just you know we are. The mecca is walt disneyworld. And actually as we sit here and record it. We are just about twenty three years from closure. And i was here twenty three years ago with one of my very good friends and we got to ride during immagination. The last week goes open so to me that that attraction is a lot of people are like. oh well it. it wasn't epcot. No that was. That was the epcot for so many people. Not the great. We have to learn about plants or fish. It was an amazing sherman brothers song it was amazing characters in and it just to this day i i have a hard time writing the current version just because i think back and i know i'm being that person but it's not the original but you know hopefully sometime in the future we'll get a little bit more figment epcot. It was and i think for a long. Listen if you like the first version. The second generation was even better. yes wait. Was that the one before the stars with figment or after the stars. Listen and you wanna make an attraction. Well listen i used to show burke quickly personal story. I used to show my son was very little. Dvd's of the ritual. right there. When i had a dvd that had all three versions and even at five he's like this is awful. Can you rewind any fast forward But it isn't. And i think to your point i think going forward and he was starting to see this because of how prevalent is especially during festivals and other times a year. I think we're gonna see figuring again formerly being reintroduced as the mascot for that park. Because i think he needs to be and i will dare i say dare dare. I think we're gonna see the return of dream finder not not in his long purple coat and top hat. But i think maybe a version. That's a little bit closer to the comic book version that we saw in the marvel comic buff dream finder hot reminders. I like to refer to now. You're making it weird out..

"Videos of it was a model that was at the walt disney story at the magic kingdom in nineteen ninety one and it lists flying saucers future. Project kinetic jets future project from time to time. Astronomers club alien encounter in auto pia and plug your ears if you love carousel of progress. Because they were gonna take it out and replace it with flying saucers but that was not the only idea. They considered replacing it with at that point in time as well so thankfully we did not get the full. The full extent of discovery land of the disney decade. I think you're right wedding. We can talk more about. What's the the plans were for discovery. Land changes to tomorrowland what what ended up happening. What was discussed in. What some of those future projects you know if you look at that model there were other buildings. They're just said future projects and sort of speculating as to what those war i mean i think give council of progress would have if somebody would have said now. The castle progress would go away. The internet would rise in revolution. But you're right. We've talked about on the show on the blog about the astronomers club which seemed to be even if that full discovery land. Transformation didn't happen. That seemed to be the thing that was a plane that was in flight and was going to happen. Wear that the tomorrowland terrace slash noodle station currently sits and the idea being that immersive theatre like interactive show which eventually became something in a in a in a different sense in the adventure club would have been fascinating to see inside of a theme park and what that would have become and again. That could be a separate conversation. Possibly for a separate show because that really would have completely. You know we're talking about individual attractions here and there. But that really would have changed the entire theme ing and story of an entire land. And i know a lot of people dig that steam punk like aesthetic and referenced that time period and i wonder how well or poorly that might have been received in why that never came to be there were other individual attractions that.

How to Vacation at Disney World, Without Stepping Foot in a Park

"We've done this a few times on our vacations which is vacationing at walt. Disney world. without going to the parks So i i know i enjoy it because we go so often. People always say like. Oh my gosh you know. Five days at disney. I'm just so tired because you know you get up early. Go to the park. Go to bed late and you kind of get burned out that way so this this is a good way to do disney just like any other resort so sharpie you wanna you wanna go with your first Tipper tidbit on vacationing disneyworld. Without going to the parks my first suggestion would be in the way you pack. I know that sounds crazy but always remember that. If you're if you're not going to the park you're you're gonna be dressing in mica resort in resort casual you. Can you can dress up a little bit more. If you're not going to the parks 'cause you know you need to be a little bit more comfortable but also you can take in some of the nicer restaurants and enjoy enjoy. The meal without being rushed so so think ahead to the type of things that you want to do while you're on vacation and pack more resort vacation instead of arcs vacation. That's my first gesture. This is definitely good advice. So you had to to expand on your point of taking this like a resort vacation. And that's how i kind of think of disney world. It's like a resort that you would go like a beach vacation where you go to resort Same thing that. Walt disney world. Where you go to a really nice resort but you just have the added benefit if you wanna go to a park for a little bit Or go to apcoa for dinner or something you could do that But just staying at your resort I i like the idea that where you can take it a more relaxed approach. Because i always feel like all right we gotta get dinner. We gotta get outta dinner. We gotta go see the fireworks over. We gotta be here So there's none of that you're just taking it

"Or an occasional announcement you have this beautiful quiet serene bird's eye view of love the studios and the resort hotels and the riviera. And and coming in when you come across the waterway to art animations and pop century. Or whether you're using it to get from a park to your resort or wherever. I look east west north and south. All roads lead to disney's caribbean beach resort. But i do I am absolutely enamored with the sky liner and even more so at night. And i think you also get a new appreciation not just of the resorts look. I think the skyline was the best thing that could have happened to caribbean beach. Because what it was often for many people over looked at as a resort or a place that you would go if you couldn't you recognize the beauty of that resort and you see all these vibrant colours illuminated at night. Is i think the rivera as very quickly become one of my favorite resorts. It's gorgeous at night and enjoying that sarim if it if you like the ones that are wrap these whimsically themed. Gondolas it. It it even if i don't i'm not staying there. I have gone on occasion to ride the sky liner for the sake of riding the skylar and there's nothing better than riding at sunset and at night. You got me so giddy right now in my in my in my seclusion of isolation here in my little corner of pennsylvania so much stuff i looking forward to that's definitely one of them is the skyline Barely missed the chance. Do last time. I was there but long lines though. I think you know. I think this was actually on our list of the most romantic things to in the last night is romantic. I mean is the other one that i had on my list. One of the first things i put was writing the launch boats that night which Again on our romantic lists too but Egg these these are the launch boats either the wilderness lodge contemporary fort wilderness circuit or the grand flurry polly magic kingdom. Those are my favorites but I oftentimes will go on those boats not to get from one place to another but just for the experience of especially at night and pending on the mood. You're in The seclusion on bay lake with the the wilderness lodge launch is pretty cool. When you really out in the middle of the lake with no one around you conversely the seventies lagunas go because you do see the lights of all the resorts in the major kingdom and if you time it right you might get glimpse to fireworks so That's always a magical thing. I love to do at night and i'll do it just for the sake of doing it just because to me. That's the traction unto itself. So.

The Music of World Showcase in EPCOT

The Music of World Showcase in EPCOT

"If i say the music of epcot what's the first song that comes to mind. Probably something from future world and as we covered extensively back on show six nine six ten future world has background scores and attraction and so show themes that not only. I think resonate with us but are enjoyed by us beyond just our time in the parks. They are on our playlists and in our ears when we drive run exercise. I'm obviously like reaching and assuming those last two or whether we're just relaxing at home but why which is my favorite word. And i think it's probably because so. Many of these songs were created by disney for disney they are original themes built around the theme using the time-tested recipe of what makes disney music so memorable but for the other half of the world. Showcase much of the music is not only traditional but helps to set the stage and represents the culture of the participating nation. And these aren't songs. I think that we would normally associate with a theme park experience. Either that is like if we're talking about walt disney world But some of my favorite songs. That dizzy songs are found in many of these background. Loops of not just future world. But some of these world showcase pavilions and they always seem to bring a smile to my face as they hear them. Whenever or wherever i am and i said on the intro to the epcot show that that the music is very much a melting pot of so many cultures ideas ideals technology and different flavors. And it's a place that you can hear music that is as diverse as the pavilions and cultures and speaking of diverse. I want to continue our musical journey from future world to world showcase once again with friends who helped kick off this musical odyssey so i'd like to welcome back to the show. Lisa denote glasner from the castle. Run and core memory candles dot com to be back. Jason connect from here with the magic and the after our show on the facebooks. Hello it's good to be back with you guys and the one and only zac brown from the one and only the zac brown show. Everybody excited to be here. So i am excited for this. And i'm curious to one because i want to see if hopefully we can beat or not break record long. Our future world discussion was. But i think and i'm curious because we don't talk about this ahead of time how this may differ. Because i think again so many of those future world songs and themes are ones that we can mention by name. Papillon came up again. I think exactly you know if it was a drinking game and papillon was your word. You're in some serious trouble but so much of world showcases different because one. We can't pronounce many of the names the songs they don't necessarily roll off the tongue and they're not one that we might necessarily know by name but we know in terms of how they make us feel and they are there are some pavilions that have themes or some that. Just have background music that we enjoy very quickly. When and they'll round in the same order. When you think of world showcase when you think of world showcase music what is the first song idea pavilion. Thought that comes into your mind for me. I remember when we sat down to do or when was sitting down to prep for the future world. Show i joked that. I've never felt so prepared and so unprepared at the same time for a topic because it was like it was a topic. That's just sort of ingrained in my soul but at the same time i didn't know quite how i was going to articulate it and This show said hold by juice because like the rest of disney right is supposed to sort of insulate you from the rest of the world and i think the unique thing about showcases that it has the opposite job. It's supposed to transport you into the rest of the world. And so while you know so much of the music throughout disneyworld otherwise as supposed to sort of encapsulate you and bring you into this place. You know. the imaginary kind of didn't do their job right right if they did. If that's the result of in world showcase because the point of showcases to make you feel like you're not in central florida. It's supposed to make you feel like you're traveling around the world. As you're walking around world showcase so i don't know if i have a quick good answer to like what song first comes to mind. it i mean i could say something. Easy like golden dream of course. Which is you know sure. We'll talk about that more But now i think it's it's like background stuff. Like le vian rose and like the stuff that green and like that. The the the music that i just associate. Because i'm here. So much with walking around world showcase but at the same time you know like you said in the intro. It's not necessarily music that you're supposed to associate with a theme park. Don't you have a green sleeve. The greens leave story to which will have to get to. Because i remembered crossing the bridge an international gateway with you and i said isn't the screen sleeves using it yet and then you told me a story from your childhood is i am. I am right. I mean who doesn't have a green sleeve story like there's a green sleeve story and i want to don't jump ahead of ourselves but that really from my childhood i whistle. Inslee leaves all the time and it makes my mother crazy. Maybe i was just hoping it was from your childhood. Okay i i mean to answer the question. What's the first song pavilion jumps to mind. It's gotta be mexico and it's got to be the three cobb heroes right like that's got to be no actually. It's not that i think. The the for me world showcase had an anthem and no it can't be eliminations but it had an anthem. It would be basically the soundtrack to impress his france. Of course which. I am super excited about francine far away i know he s- t and wonderful. We'll get there For me it's kind of an unfair answer. I think about the international gateway. It's kind of this. Great little collaboration of everything that you're going to experience it's kind of the coming attractions. You know like lisa said you've got le vian rose and you've got a little bit of music piping in from like the china pavilion and everything just kind of blends and it just sets the overall tone and of prepares you for the pallet. That is in front of you whether it be musical or food you kind of preps you and gets you in the mindset that is world showcase and for me you know if i was to close my eyes and just say world showcases a couple of songs that jumped right to the top but one of them and this is actually a great way for us to begin. I think is. There is a world showcase background loop and being disney enthusiasts that you are. I'm pretty sure. It exists on your iphone or ipod your spotify playlist because this is one of the ones that i think people do have an play when their home or even in their cars or when they're working or walking or just relaxing and while you might not necessarily know the names of the songs if you were to listen through it and serbia following along this. This item list of the music yelich like. Yes inca dance by cousteau. That's my favorite song. Although you wouldn't walk into sam goody's not that there's a sam goodies but go with me here. You wouldn't walk in goodies and say i need incan dance on forty five guys have that. But i love the world showcase loop that you can hear on both entrances to where you could. We'll talk about some of the changes that came about relatively recently but those are some of the songs that i hear that like the future world entrance mentally

Disneyland to reopen on April 30 as Disney+ surpasses 100M global subscribers

"California's Disneyland is set to reopen April 30th with limited capacity more than a year. After being shut down amidst the pandemic. During this time, the company is doubled down on its streaming efforts with Disney Plus and ESPN. Plus our Ludlow has more at Yes, Disney is one of these stocks one of the companies of the pandemic right Disney, Plus such a big part of that the company is my Bloomberg and look at this chart because if you go all the way back before the pandemic, you have to remember that the parks was such a big piece of the Disney story. The Bloomberg terminal, which hope you can get up in the second shows that there's a proportion of overall revenue. Here it is. Parks experiences a merchandise. Was topping 40% in many of the quarters leading up to the pandemic. You can see on the far right hand side of your screen and then drops off, But there's signs of recovery. So it's kind of no wonder that investors are cheering the reopening because once again, it will continue to be an important contributor to the top line. But Disney Pass really is the story. And if we take a look at how subscribers have grown for Disney, plus Look at that astonishing at the pace of growth since launch to more than 100 million subscribers today, So where does that leave us? What is Disney Is Disney a immediate company? It is. Isn't this great entertainment giant that we've always know if you look at it share price against Netflix, which is trying to catch up with industry space and also six flags. Which, of course, is the theme park Isolated theme park company You can see over the last 12 months, six Flags has done astonishingly well. It's recovered. It's part of this reopening trade their Netflix, which did so well at the end of 2020 the stay at home trade of all of our streaming. That recovered Disney Somewhere in the middle. You could argue that it's both a reopening trade on the stay at home trade, because as long as we're stuck at home, we're watching things on Disney plus with streaming. But is the economy recovers on the vaccine? Rollout improves? Look it there middle of the pack. It benefits from that reopening because it's other business areas, then recover like parks like cruise ships. Like merchandise, so it's certainly want to watch going forward. It's really adapted and pivoted during the pandemic, Emily But what happens when life goes back to normal? That's what I wanna know. Disney Right. The company is so different than it was even a year ago. I'd love lo there. Thanks so much. I spoke about all of that. With the CEO of Disney himself Bob Shaye pack earlier this morning. He expressed his optimism. About the reopening and what the rest of the year holds. Take a listen. We're thrilled with the response that we're seeing from our guest in terms of future reservations and intend to come back to our parks. I think it's a function of two things number one confidence that you know we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the pandemic. But also tremendous trust in our brand. You know, we've been able to operate across the world it Walt Disney World, For example, for the last nine months, and we've done so responsibly. We've had the MBA bubble that was so successful, and I think guests know that Disney is going to do it right. And that brand trust really leads them to want to come back to our parks and experience the magic and knows that we're going to be responsible as we do that, and they can have a great time. So the date is April 30th for California. But you're You've got 15% capacity limits in the red Here. You could get up to 25% if we get into the orange tear. Heads were thrilled, but investors want to know. Can you make money with these kind of limitations? No out of state residents as well. As we've said From the very beginning, there's a couple requirements for us to reopen the park first one as I mentioned as we have to be able to do so responsibly and make sure that everybody has a great time while also being safe at the same time. Were only going to open up. If it could be a creative to shareholder value. We're going to be able to cover our variable expenses and make a contribution towards profit. And that's been the case since we started re opening our parks nine months ago, and that will be the case with Disneyland. So we're confident we can do that, and, of course, as conditions improved, and the constraints are relieved. We'll be there to ramp up and make sure that everyone has a great time and welcome even more people back to the magic of Disney. So what are some of the new technologies that you've used over the last year that you think might stick around post pandemic Will temperature screenings continue. For example. Will you use the reservation system? Ah, lot more. Well, in addition to all the health guidelines that we've been following across the world, you know masks temperature checks, increased hygiene, six ft. Social distancing. We're also going to be introducing a new reservation system that's going to enable our guest have a great time, no matter when they choose to come to Disney. Of course, nobody ever wants to go through a pandemic, but our teams here have been hard at work. Making sure that when we re emerged that we're going to do so, in a way that's actually going to improve the guest experience, even versus a pre pandemic situation and our guest satisfaction score since we've re opened across the world have shown that indeed Our guest star even more satisfied than they were prior to the pandemic. We've learned some things we've learned to operate under constraints. All the time by delivering this is great saying Disney magic that you expect, but you know, we we've been in a fortunate situation where we've had a lot of demand in the past. In many cases that has exceeded what we can actually supply in terms of how many people we can put in the park, and there's been no situation that's been, you know, more like that than we've had upon reopening and really having operate under some really tight constraints, But we've gotten even better and better at it, And I think it's going to create a reemergence scenario where Magic is going to be even greater for our guests when they do come back to our

Disney Aims to Reopen Disneyland and California Adventure Parks at 'Limited Capacity by Late April'

"We do have a an end in sight with the opening of disneyland resort in anaheim california. So we're we're gonna see it open. That's exciting and so. Initially there was news that it would open april first and of course it is restricted. But it looks more based on. What we've we've heard from ceo bob Jap iq that. It might be leader in april and they've got a call thousands and thousands like ten thousand cast members that have been furloughed. They've got a call them all back and not only do they need refresh irs because it's been a year They need to be retrained because there are full year it has. It has been a year almost to the day well today but this week marks the the week that things started closing down last year. So i remember that day very well when we were podcasting and we couldn't believe that disney was shutting down and as we were recording that episode or no stuff just kept coming in as we were recording. I was very enclosing. This amazing that they're closing this closing bill o. Voice yeah it was very quick it was like do you think they'll close. They just closed it now. As a matter of fact yes. I do believe they will close very quickly so They've got to get all those cast members back and retrained. Now it is exciting the reopening but there are some caveats. it'll be at fifteen percent capacity. And initially they presume that it'll be restricted to california residents. Only so. Don't book your plane ticket anytime soon. can you imagine getting to do disneyland. At fifteen percent capacity.

Okay so when you're walking down main street you see all these flags. Well they're not like actual. American flags are slightly different. What is the difference in the flag. So leave it's the number of stripes the numbers. They're just a little bit. Yeah yeah they took out a striped so that we don't need to follow the national flag. Because who wants to walk down you see the flags at half mast and all that stuff they want to keep them up and keep everything. Happy there when you when you first walk into the park. So they removed a stripes. They don't need to follow the National flag code all right. How about this one. This one's an interesting one. I think how close is the next garbage can. Oh it's oh my goodness. I used to notice it. Something like every eighty steps every thirty steps. Can you believe that thirty sturdy steps away from bet you close. Yeah that's that's okay. Disney smashes streaming subscriber expectations

"We start off with disney delivering in its latest company smashing streaming expectations the stock higher in the after hours session. Let's get straight to julie abortion. Who is fresh off that disney call julia. Melissa earnings call underway right now. The stock up nearly three percent after the company exceeded expert expectations on the top line in reported a profit rather than the loss analysts anticipated. Now the two key areas in focus parks and streaming both outperformed expectations disney's streaming business outpaced projections going to ninety five million disney plus subscribers and one hundred and forty six million total direct. To consumer customer is now that includes hulu and espn plus that division grew revenue seventy three percent from the year earlier quarter especially pleased with the success of our correct. The consumer business and our recent strategic reorganization has enabled us to accelerate. The company. Said it was a dc first business model and further grow our streaming services disney plus has exceeded even our highest expectations. Meanwhile the parts visions revenue dropped less than anticipated down by fifty three percent the company announcing that covert has headed two point six billion dollar impact on the parks divisions operating income as a result of closures and reduced capacities. Where we've been able to reopen are with limited capacity guest have consistently demonstrated a willingness and a desire to visit which we believe is a testament to the fact that they feel confident. In the health and safety protocols we've put in place average daily attendance at walt disney world significantly from q for q one japex saying they're continuing to invest to build out different features of their parks and they said they are very pleased with the reservations and consumer interest in visiting parks. Melissa of course that's going to be in focus as they start to get to be able to increase their capacity in florida and are allowed to open up here in california. All right julia. Thank you julie. Borsen the latest on disney. Which is up three percent after hours. Dia dommie how do you like the stock. How do you like what they said on this. Call well kudos again. I mentioned the last night sort of took a pass on the kudos. I'll give it to her anyway. And tim who've been all over this and so listen. I'm not a huge fan of treadmills and this is going somewhere. Mel by the way suggest indulge me for a second but you get on a treadmill. You go eight miles an hour maybe walk. Maybe put down your honor for forty five minutes but when you get off your exactly where you started and i bring that up because listen. It's great that they keep adding people to disney plus i get it but as rich greenfield amongst. Many others pointed out our food down twenty-eight percent every year i'll tell you what that means because that's the game we play here but effectively a lot of ways that running in place. Now the naysayers will say. That's a bad thing. That's going to lead to decline in stock. And the optimists will say they're going to be able to monetize all those people there all by drew barrymore short with the delorean on it and those types of thing and maybe they'll go mr toad wild ride when the parks reopened. I'm not nearly as optimistic. So it's not a great ride valuations now or at levels where i don't think it necessarily should be okay and then it pick up on that point because i also read that tweet so this past quarter the arp average revenue per user was four dollars and three cents for disney plus and a year ago is five dollars and fifty six cents. Tim should we not care about this at this early stage of growth for disney for the streaming service. I don't think so. I mean i no. I don't think so. And i think you know guy may be like george jetson on the treadmill. I avoid treadmills i. I'd rather be out there and disney's running through the streets right now with with ninety five million and essentially when you add in hulu and espn plus. We heard those numbers. This strategic reorganization is part of the excitement. Here again. this division is up. Seventy three percent during a period when netflix is been in a sweet spot of engaged in couldn't be in a better position disney's outperform the stocks outperform disney from net flicks by almost forty percent since since august. But even over the last couple of years it's outperformed net flicks which we would all certainly agree is also making a move especially in terms of profitability. But again do we care about that. With netflix's should we care about that with disney when also they're showing that they can at least be profitable and their core business through very difficult times on the way out of kobe. So look i understand the profitability issues. At some point disney's got to create their own content. We know that's very expensive. But if you're asking me you know from from an investor's perspective. Am i happy with with the metrics that are driving the stock to move higher and thirty nine times five bucks. A share of two thousand and twenty two is is not expensive when you consider what is being paid for net flicks.

"Views are spectacular. It's not even that it's just. It's that simplicity of the balloon ride and it's only twenty dollars for adults kids. I think i think kids are like fifteen but it is such a unique view. You can see for like twenty miles all around like you can walk all around the basket. You don't feel cramped at all. You look at pictures or videos. I did this a couple times. i haven't been in years. I wanna do again but timing it. Just right It is it is just such a simple romantic thing and if it's just the two of you and obviously there's the pilot in there as well It is a wonderful wonderful very overlooked experience. A walt disney world. That ticks all the boxes. Like i said you don't have to book this six months in advance it can be private. It is unique. It is romantic. It's something you can do together and it does not cost you a lot. It's it's forty dollars for two people. I love it. I am a little afraid of heights but but but you've convinced me i think i can handle and it's even perfect like oh your little afraid of heights. Commune let me give you a little more than a cargo. All i'm not saying that's why it's it's completely consensual but you know what i mean. I'm assuming that if you're there together Yeah that is not an you The one last thing. I'll just add i think the commonality to all of this was Wherever it is whether it's a restaurant resort attraction whatever Like for me. The romantic part was being just being able to share that magic moment. Whatever it was with that someone special especially went to both of you. It's that disney special moment. That means that much more you because you know where those we're disney people but this means a lot us and it is. It is really special to share those moments with someone It's also cool. In the last thing i will put on. This list is if you get to both experience. Something new for the first time that you're both looking forward to not even just an attraction or something but for example. I remember the first time into pandora at night With somebody and not only was i experienced experiences for the first time but it was so beautiful magical that we've talked about separately But being able to share that experience with someone who is just as in on mesmerized as you are on your both taking in this incredibly magical experience together is really cool to talk again. That's i mean you have to kind of plan ahead to be there when something opens but being able to experience something together for the first time is also pretty cool. Because it's not just sharing the moment but you're discovering moment together and it'll be that moment that you remember for the rest of your life because you did it together and you'll never see this thing for the first time again like i'll never. I will never have another first time. I was at pandora moment so being able to share that with someone makes it extra special. Yeah look at and as accenture of all the things that were saying especially if you've been with somebody a long time or you've been married a long time or worried about you know budget and things like that. And that's why. I wanted to really have a wide spectrum of things that you could do for free and things that if you wanted to celebrate an indulgent and look to your point tim about this place this experience together being special even if you are married and you've been married for years and the romance is gone. There's nothing that stops you from proposing again lynn. You didn't have the wedding me that you were. You didn't honeymoon and disneywor- you found disney love after there's nothing that says that you can't go and find or make your special place whether it's in front of now the non pink castle cake if it you know it in front of a favorite attraction. There's nothing and you don't need another ring. You don't need another celebration. You don't need any that kind of stuff. It's just like what we're talking about. It's proposing your love. It sort of reinforcing that and forgive me for being all you know like i said at the outset As as idealistic and romantic about it. But i think that there is something about making that moment of getting down on one knee looking up into the eyes of someone that you love and then sort of professing that love. Especially if it's in a place like walt disneyworld or alani or a disney cruise or disneyland wherever it might be because now you have that moment that place that thing and to all the things that we talked about. It doesn't matter what you do to celebrate valentine's day whether it's in walt disney world or anywhere. It's about the time together. But when you are walt disneyworld. It's about making those memories in what i would argue. Maybe is not just the most magical place on earth. It's not just the vacation. It's one of the most romantic places on earth as well. But i want to know from you. My friend al friend who's listening here with us. Hopefully jotting down ideas or making quick phone calls for last minute plans. If you're in walt disneyworld tell me what you think the most romantic thing you can do. You should do or you have done in. Walt disneyworld is share your story. You've already done it so it's okay or maybe something that you would love to do when you find that special someone. What is your perfect romantic and night. Look like in. Walt disney world.
