"Hello, Notre Dame Indiana. I didn't see you come in the door. Wally Shaver and Frank Masaka with youse were in our first intermission. Here. Spartans have a one. Nothing lead on a power play tally reflected in off of a goal for a stick. Spartans getting their only fifth power play goal the entire year. Well, regular season is over in college hockey now, so all six conferences are in playoff mode. Five of the six have played playoff games by today. The E C. A C tournament will be starting on Thursday with a semifinal between Colgate at ST Lawrence, Number one seed Quinnipiac will have a buy into the title game to be played on Saturday next week. The number two ranked team in that conference, Clarkson has had to shut down due to a covert outbreak. So there's only out of the four schools that were playing hockey out of the E. C. A. C this year. Only three are left for a playoff tournament. That is so strange this year for that. It's tragic. It's sad for those guys Imagine the committee now. I mean, they better hope Quinnipiac wins this thing because they were the higher ranked team. I don't know. Can you see? It would be also tragic if you brought two teams. Out of a conference that only had three available to play at the end of the year. Well, it's a really good point, you know? So that's that those are the things that this committee is gonna have to really chew on a zoo. We go forward in the in the next week. Yeah, it will be next week From today that will be the big show. To announce the 16 team. Field for the N C. A a play yachts while speaking of N C a a playoffs. The women are in that tournament right now in eerie Pennsylvania. The quarterfinal games.

"In this conference just hold on to your hold on your shorts because it's gonna be a wild ride that's what makes it exciting in a conference like this well I would US seven teams that are capable of knocking the heck out of each other on a given night yeah and you hear all the coaches talk about it in the and you've heard me say that the people have the hardest time with other fans when used to play a conference where you would hardly had a birth rate the block over after the after concert right and you don't have that anymore and subtlety for coaches I can tell you that but you know we chose to be in this profession if I want to ask you another question about this past week and with the Heil state from your coaches perspective the feeling on the bed to the team to see a success as you said that you throw up maybe the first period there'd behind two to one to Ohio state over the last five through the goal for said the lead the whole way what's that atmosphere like on the bench well it's it's easier for me to answer because it all would you like even when things were maybe in the first half and the eagle like fourteen games or two wins our guys demeanor it is always been strong let me look real good obvious is more common switcher weakening bike don't get me wrong our guys never have a to their gamer it it all with a work scoring the high I use the term with our players sad you know it for just whatever word on English dictionary want to come up with we can add a sadness when we weren't scoring that's been our fuel and then I'll go back to Friday night we're not one nothing in the first period is get late in the period I think just one two minutes to go when Ben Myers makes unbelievable players yours yeah and I sent it after our bench just lit on fire that goal it's just a it's like a bunch of kids finding a treasure in and I have never you know you better around that we're we get so excited and we fell down to one in Rancho scores in the second and it just ignited our bench maybe it's because we have score whole lot the first period I and we're kind of finding fuel from that right now when we create office what would it feel it kind of comes our way of positive reinforcement in in been in two maybe guys it grew up scoring a lot throughout their career there have a little fun with it right now and in my goodness we need that to continue to keep happening and we'll see if we can this coming weekend when the gophers venture to Wisconsin to take on the badgers in their building we'll be back and talk a little bit more about that and this past weekend's triumphs over Ohio state Wally Shaver Bob Moscow in our audio engineer Paul black back in just a moment after this from.

"Here's what we fever and we welcome you to three marina Eugene Wally Shaver along with head coach Bob Bob kill the golden gophers bottles a tough game against the Penn state Nittany lions this past weekend a trip to tough games against some losing Friday night eight to two had a lead on Saturday able to nothing in three to one but then allowed five unanswered goals and ended up getting swept on home ice over the course of the weekend forty two and your coaching staff learn from this past weekend well I guess that's the words we're gonna use have to get be twice what we learn and and a half to will all going to a couple things one it's the second time that that we when we sweat Niagara we come back home on the next Friday gets diluted we had not a very good game we we get to without Michigan our Friday night back at home we're not we're we were awful on Friday night it was a mind said it was just you know so when I use the word awful we were you know and throw this on coaching right now or throw however we want to throw it we were ready to play and that is the and we had a decent weekly coming in but our mindset after couple wins with a young team I don't know if they cannot go okay we're okay now here we are we're good then and you know we get slapped down here and and then they have to get nasty and in you know in in there they don't feel good the the meetings are good in both Saturday nights we respond with actual efforts and and maybe that's the the the main learning thing that this young team is learning right now is is how hard you have to prepare and be ready to play every night and this Big Boy hockey when you get back in the big ten player and when it does come in here and we can't have that then in may and that you know what I am I if I will if I have a hope right now after this weekend is I hope this was a week and that was a wake up call and our prep inner and being ready to play as a group it up and I said because Saturday and we had to Whittle inserted through you guys in the lineup we had a very good game Saturday yeah and we did deserve better fate that night it it's a complete reversal I mean you couldn't be more it'll more ill the effort and the the determination in our play could have been two opposite ends of the spectrum Friday and Saturday night well that is a mindset that is you know so you have it in you and now it's the consistency bring it every night and so then off Friday you know there are two things you do with that fill you in on what we told our players if they are our fans had to see it I watched on TV had to see it people are afraid of the call of the MP bloodless do it you're going to see it and we showed him on Saturday we have fifty fifty two turnovers that that's not good knowing that that you can't ever that's like fifty two fumbles yeah and and that's the mindset that was just you know it'll you know what was was it we wanna side six times Penn state was blocking shots we weren't in lanes that is a complete mindset and how you want to play the game the next night regional Ranta blocks like we had six blocks in the second paragraph blocks one the scores of the block shots it all in and hopefully like I said the if there's a whole but said that this group learned a very valuable lesson and in in all this twice now that we've we've had to learn that lesson in and go carrying it forward let's hope that we never see that again yeah because I really like the Saturday response as we said two different leads in that game but the shots on goal figuring Minnesota the great a opportunities are told a reversal from the Friday night game so they were getting in the right spots they were doing the right things on the attack and just couldn't you know finish some of those shots now it with all we we we we got to three and you know the the bottom line with that game is is he gave up goals that that that can't go in there were goals at that need to be that you know whether whether we had to have a better defensive play in front of it and and or the the guy between the pipes these make save there that were stable lately that really hurt us Saturday night because we we were in control we were playing the way we want to play at home and they knew what they the other team knew that they were in trouble and we didn't come off of this one thing I like with our team the Penn state Gallo life when they got it tied up a a got corner third period but you know when I am in once again they live here is a sign of it you know and when a culture like a young team would come all start second period and all we talked about conversely big this starts the ball the periods on on Friday night we just have to have a good start and we take a penalty freshman takes probably two minutes into the period we haven't killed off them all for peliculas check me learn at bantams all four guys change at same time the goalie throws a breakaway momentum completely flipped back and then and we score it'll run to scores of the block shot they score on the right off the center a face from where you know we we fell asleep and that is that that that's a something when it when a coach as your young team and you do you experience things your or the those moments that are critical and in closing out a game click we have six losses we had two goal leads and three of them and we had a goal in the third period one and then we have to find a way to solve that that that riddle so we're we're we're in the war in the hunt in a lot of these gave in on the six losses that we have but that is an old little like taking a penalty it's finishing off a penalty kill that that puts the game back Menem back to the other team when you have defended you have it you know it rate right where you want it and those are still things that that that you know we're we're teaching herself good lessons right now yes and but I I I do I do have to it all you know you can't I there's no way I can beat up our whole team after the entire week and we have to take resolve all of the that salaries effort was if we can continue that effort were more in the right direction we were seated there and positive you got going there and and it was throughout our line up and against a very good hockey team you know before we go any that is the best offense in all of college hockey in the in here we are sure I mean they played six league games with one loss and they have eight six six six five goals in all their scoring at a at a monster clip and a real veteran offense of team and you can't do those things that we did they're here to pay a price and we paid the price and the schedule won't get a whole lot easier for the golden gophers because they have the Wisconsin Badgers coming in this weekend North Dakota the following weekend on thanksgiving and then a road trip out to Ohio state the defending regular season champions we'll take a break and come back with more with head coach by Moscow after this from Learfield IMG college.

"Your post game show here from the blog more world arena Wally Shaver front Masako and head coach Bob Moscow joining us downstairs right now and overall for first game of the year I thought certainly for forty nine minutes ago first with the lead did very well but all in all there's probably a lot of good aspects in this game there was you know it's just so hard when you when you lose a game like that and it always self we shot ourselves in the foot three or four times to give the game away in all three things I told the team one we did so many good things tonight we could put the dagger and a handful of times to put the game away point blank chances we don't even start the first period where we don't we don't finish any place yeah so we left we leave the game to hang in there and then we just make colossal mistakes the office of his own face off we give up a three on two from our office is all based off that led to our our penalty they score we give up a three on two of the center ice face off the score and then you know we drop a pocket take another penalty and then they they get their third and just missed it all those are just going to be really tough lessons at that you know our team is going to have to learn and get from we got it we got a part the third thing we got a parking we got to build off the good things we did tonight because there was a lot of it you know it's just so darn hard to to to to sound positive right now but there was we we played a pretty dark dog on the game for our first game was that we got some guys got better I like thirty core our goal was strong and it's just you just can't take the penalties we talked let's go back to a check for funding for a for a moment or two this is our first look at it he tends to give up some rebounds but most of those I thought he tended to kick away how are you feeling about his rebounds in the coverage in front of them well you stop the park when we needed to to to and he did have a chance on on to those at the at the end of the game and that's on us not on him so we know what to watch film and it also is first game nerves but he gave us a chance to win and I sure do well I I was very impressed with the the big line to the B. M. W. line of walkers centering Burke and McLaughlin they look pretty solid all game long yeah two of them were really going to get the night in and you know we we got a that's part of it we got a bill the continuity within our lines and and I really like the Sorenson line they gave us great energy yeah the first goal the they got the they were in those all that time with great pressure the after I use the park in our user time all we get read these line I'll they scored a goal to take the lead so that was you know we we had some real good things look at the freshman as you have your first look at nine of address tonight any thoughts anybody stand out I thought the defense when we're very good all three of them in for for a first game the Colorado College has good speed but I thought they handled everything in the show they're gonna keep getting better and better I like my ears tonight in many situations you can see where he's really going to help us we had a couple guys a guy like storms it'll just be you know you got it all with two freshmen out there on the last call in and but that's all the reason the box he was our next guy we were often walk around a gas and that's all we have and those guys are gonna have to get a quick baptism is under fire for those young guys okay thanks a lot your time got it thank you the coach Bob Moscow.

"Now here Pat Micheletti and Wally shaver. Hello, everybody. Welcome to another edition of the Moscow shawl the playoff bound to Minnesota. Golden gophers will open up on home ice for their first round of playoffs in big ten conference play. And that came as a result of a split weekend series versus Notre Dame. Gophers lost three two two on Friday night. After building a two-nothing lead. Coach Bob Moscow was not too happy after the performance of that one. But Bob, you told us on our post game show Friday night that it would be a much better team for the second game on Saturday. And it was the gophers won by two to one score. And really had a great effort in that one. And consequently kept the gophers sitting in second place in the big ten conference, standings and the way other games have shaken out over the weekend. Mathematically, the gophers will have whole ice for their first round playoff series in two weekends from now. Congratulations. Well, it's it is better to be home than they on the road, though. We'd better pretty good road team. I thought we were said either way. But now, we know are, you know, here we are two weeks out. We know our fate will be at home. We just gotta wait a week provider who were playing. Where we go. A lot of good stuff on on Saturday had to be pretty happy. Obviously, we are disappointed Friday. But it was good bounce back and give it on. And I did all I always do feel bad. I didn't like our. I'm switching the calm. Didn't like our performance Friday night. And then sometimes when a coach does that, you know, remember the other team wants to win, right? And Notre Dame is. A very well coached team. We kind of we didn't do things we need to do with a to nothing lead. And it was it wasn't. We weren't dialed in use. Could use all the term effort based or you know, we we weren't flat. We just on top of our game. And and wouldn't you say that though, it takes it takes something away? The Notre Dame played a good game there GAM, and and we made it easier for them. But sometimes I think what a coach does that's kind of a slap in the face to the opponent. And I'm always cautious to that. Because you know, you're not gonna win every single game. But you know, what I was disappointed in in. Our it came out in the media are effort. It's not how we wanna play the game. We played it much better for Saturday night. That's what I was going. Write what would you like in particular on Saturday? I just I mean, our all our lines like the reedy line. Got a goal. You guys go on to the? All night that they when they were out there. They had good jump in. And the the pit lake line though, gets the first goal without Donald play early in the first to get a lead against Notre Dame. When tyler. And we had better ground game. Notre Dame plays a very distinct regimented style and. They're never gonna beat themselves. That's why that game. I had a buddy of mine said he was watching on TV goes. Oh my God. What a what a boring game after the. What are the newspaper or one of the? Media said something about you know, boy that was an ugly hockey him. I thought it was beautiful. And it was wasn't it. When you play a team that is so regimented in how they play and I don't mean that derogatory toward Notre Dame. No, but they are not going to beat themselves. And there's not a lot of space out there. They take all space away. They they they're gonna make you have to go to hundred feet. They didn't take a penalty in the game. We never got on the power play. And the only thing we didn't do a score third goal stretch. That thing. And then it got crazy at the end. I mean, so I think baby wasn't very entertaining from an up and down standpoint. But the Notre Dame we beat them three times this year and all three they scored one goal in those three games. And and we stretched the one late when the five one win both to one to one. That's what you're going to get a lot of times when you play teams like that. And there was but I thought we were fighting hard. In that game throughout our lineup. And I was comfortable on the bench with with the effort. Our guys were playing with the player that stood out in my mind. That game was Tyler. I thought he had an exceptional game on defense. Maybe his best game of the year. Just in my opinion and not from the goal. But he threw a big year really early in the game. It seemed to get him really involved in. And he threw a couple more subsequent hits like that afterwards throughout the course of the game. But a good solid effort by a veteran defenceman that you really need at this time of year. Well, there's no question. And there was another clip on tape were Tyler to the red line and simple as this sounds. He got to the red line. He kinda maneuvered through a couple a little bit of the maze that Notre Dame set up and he dumped it deep slammed on his brakes stayed out. Yeah. Amen. And that's what we're if Tyler just keeps things simple and in plays. What's in front of him? And is dependable he had a couple of big hits. And then office is gonna come for him. It's he's but he's a Bronco. You know, he's a bucking Bronco. And which is great. I'd rather put a fire out and tame wild horse than to have to build one up. And that's what we're getting with. Tyler is is play the game, simpler, let things come to you lecture athletic ability, take over, and when he does that is exactly how you open it up that wanna Tyler's best games and and not just because of the goal, but he was physical. He was getting the puck salt playing playing. Lots of minutes. And that's that's how Tyler you know, we really believe as game has to be fine. But when he wants to try to make everything well he's out there. Trying to be Babe Ruth hit home runs all the time. His game get away from him. That was a great game for Tyler. And I don't know if it was the coaching staff who gave the stern message or the players gave the stern message. You know within themselves. But that being said, no matter what can you tell if a guy has received that message? Oh, yeah. And then some that maybe they don't. Yeah. I mean, you know, at this stage to you're right on Pat one we did have stern message. But they gave it to themselves to because at this stage of the game. Which is I think it's it's on our guys know, they we are clearly defined right now what we have to do to be good. Yeah. They know what we know it when they got away from it. You know, we're giving it to them and they're shaking their head. We know we know. Right. So your message you might give it to to very long because they got it. But I really like how they responded in came back with all that being said is you know, we know what we have to do to be good and hockey games. Now our runway is now a shortage could be whether we're taking off.

"Recipes and even everyday snacks that your whole family will love pick up today at cub foods. Welcome back to the golden gopher pre game show, Wally shaver and head coach Bob Moscow. Talking about the rematch with the Penn State Nittany lions. And certainly the final score last night. Bob was not the way. The gophers wanted to start off the weekend dropping that game seventy two on the Friday night. But it was a decent start to the game for the team. What back the lines were rolling through real good? With a decent effort outside of the three goals. We gave up was a good start. Know. That's what's hard to explain on your thousand miles from home. Our our guys were prepared to play. We we had good energy. But we made you know. You can't make the mistakes we made and they were really just single mistakes that enough cost us an all three up the back of our net. You find yourself down three nothing. That was the bad news is we had fifty more minutes to go and. We were chasing the game. Then there were parts of the game. You know, we had open it up and be a little more offensive in in that led to some breakdowns going the other way. Probably a disturbing thing is, you know, I we shouldn't be down three nothing. We got to say that. But we had the golden chances get back in the game. And we missed it on point blank chances. Missed the net and hit the hit the crossbar that power play. Just with under a minute to go in the first period. If any of those go in all of a sudden, we're back in the hockey game. And they didn't fall for us in those are chances that you're not going to get a second time. They second third and fourth wax out. We had good chances to get back in then follow away. We end up chased the game. The hallway effort was very good execution was very poor. And we've got to be much more sound detailed tonight. Yeah. And you talk about some of those chances early on and even in the third period cranking run off the pipe, but scoring chances were there when you look at the shot chart afterwards. A lot of good great as scoring opportunities from Minnesota. That's what we're just talking about lack of chances in in. You know, you're going to get good chances against Penn State. They like to rub it up. They really commit to the officer side. So whether there turnover we saw that when they were mariuchi, we see it on film, you're gonna get chances, but you have to be a better defensive team. And that's in much more sound. And we were that when we played them at Mary you. She. Right after Christmas. We we were very solemn that weekend and last night was not the start. We wanted to have. And we've got him have a complete turnaround in that in that tonight. Well, let's let's hope that that does happen. And I notice you have made a couple of roster changes. How does that affect that strategy then to play better defensive game? Well, I mean, first of all we got we got one guy that we're known warm-ups if you can go in, and that's a very common thing. The trainer wants to get a good look at them and that's going to determine so of our lineup tonight. For sure we're gonna we're gonna get recycled back in their worry a little stronger on the middle was we're going in onto the center spots, and that'll give us mad at strength at its size there. But really it's not gonna be the lineup is going to be the the group that was just one or two editions. We gotta get after tonight. Yeah. You you talk about the strengths in the middle and I noticed on face offs. Penn State's a really solid team winning face off. So I think all their top four centimeter all over fifty four percent on the draw. Hooky is that? It's a major key in one of the main objectives ready Haughey team. If you can if you're over fifty percent, that's a good statistic. If you are sixty that's a superior statistic. From the face off circle. We have been a good face off team this year. Not great. We need to be better today. And last night. There was a goaltending change after the the three goals you called Matt Robson at thirteen eleven to the first period. Eric Sheron came in the rest of the way, any changes there for tonight. We'll go drops it again. We'll get him back. Hilly got ten minutes. Let them get steamed up right now and get back in there. And we need an effort out of every guy tonight that includes her goaltender. Okay. Thanks, very much coach, golden gophers and Penn State Nittany lions just moments away from off. We'll take a break and come back for more of our pregame show after this from learfield. IMG college. All right.

"Toyota, let's go places. Gopher hockey is on the air. Tears. Wally shaver. Hello, hockey, fans, everywhere and welcome to Gulu ice arena here in Ohio valley, Pennsylvania. The home of the Penn State Nittany lions as they get set to host the Minnesota golden gophers Frank. Masako? There wasn't too long ago you and I were in this very building. And we saw four horrific hockey games and the gophers class for an NCAA birth in last hockey season folly is really tough to talk about something that is so long ago, and you should be able to flush from your memory. Just can't because it was so better. It was so bad the last two games of the regular season. And then two games of a best of three playoff series. And you're right. They were four miserable games. But hopefully, this is a different team. I know it's a different team. It's a team has got a different attitude Walton is a team that is fun. You're going to hear in the midst of our interview with coach, Bob. Rory's noise in the background. And it'll be these guys playing soccer, and you're going to hear coach Moscow talk about what a good frame of mind. They are in coming into this very important weekend. Yeah. And I think for the most part the guys just have to tune out what happened last year and this building it's a whole different team right now and different philosophy different counting staff. So. Heels it's the old cliche. But you really do just by one game at a time. And we've heard coach smarts. We'll talk about that quite a bit over the course of this year, so far and he's just looking to see what this team can do game to game to game. And you're right. And we get the same message from a couple of players that we talked to a media day during the week. The first of them is star center ice pet luck. Yeah. I mean, we're trying not to think about last year. Obviously, it's hard to forget that. But you know, we played well against them earlier that doesn't mean we're going to play well or whatever against them this weekend. But I think know, we're ready to go thinking about that. We're just clear mines full speed ahead. And that's what we're what we're doing full. Speed ahead is right. And what he said they played well against him earlier. He met a series split that Mariucci arena, which the gophers one the second of those two games by a score afford a one year ago back in the spring. It was Matt Robson then in his sophomore year is a goaltender who remembers three of those four games those losses. Very bitterly. Memories, things go bad. So I'm not going to be thinking about last year. Anything like that? I know. Open a lot of the guys in the room. Are you know on that same sort of mindset? I sure like that attitude Wally the best players have short memories. You really have to you can't change. What happened last year? All you can do is just keep improving for this hockey season. And we have seen steady growth as we talk all season long. Frank. Is in baby steps, but this team has gotten better and better each weekend. We'll talk more numbers during the course of the evening. We'll find some numbers that since the Christmas break, Minnesota is.

"Pillow once again, everybody, we welcome you to three marina at Mary itchy. I up in the press box. Here Wally shaver Micheletti and head coach Bob Moscow quick review of the weekend. Here. The golden gophers gaining a weekends split against the Michigan wolverines the gophers lost on Friday night by a four to score did get the games for a school. But then gave up the next three managed to pull within one. But then a short handed goal by the wolverines with three and a half minutes left. A two goal lead that they straight to the finish where four to win. Good rebound, though. By the gophers the next day on Saturday winning four three Bob the team lead three nothing by early in the second period. Michigan. However did throw a little scare at us three goals and four and a half minutes to tie it up. But then hey, Tommy and all that power play goal in the third sealed the win for the gophers. I know you weren't very happy with Friday's performance. But certainly the rebound on Saturday was a welcome sight to see. Yup. Well, I know our league right now, it's kinda splits fill all around. But I didn't like how we did the splits fill this weekend. And that's probably the first thing Friday night. We just did not have a good feel about us from start to finish. And I know we got back in the game late with a little push with a power play that that continues to stay strong. But. Challenge. The guys in the they responded we had a much better effort Friday Saturday night. And in the way, we need to play. "Hello everyone. Welcome to another addition of a Bob much, go show in for Bob. This week is Ben Gordon the assistant coach for the Minnesota golden gophers gonna talk a little bit about last weekend in the upcoming series here with Michigan coming into town. Golden gophers last week playing Wisconsin in a pair of big ten conference games. Friday was an incredible game. Minnesota gophers winning it by nine to four score three power play goals. They're up three nothing in the first period. Ben, Wisconsin closed the gap twice to make it three two. Then two more Minnesota goals to MOS consoles. It was five four. And then the gophers scored four more in the last five minutes now they're badly outshot in that game. But it was world's kinda gives. You almost didn't feel any comfort until we got a seven to four lead with four months ago. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, it was back and forth. You know, one thing we did like is the fact that you know, they did narrow the gap twice in the game. And we we kind of stuck with it and managed to regain the lead by a couple of goals each time. And at the end, we kind of ran away with it. But you know, we we we played good offensively. We knew it wasn't the ideal game that we wanted to play from from defensive zone the offensive zone. But you know, anytime you score nine goals. It's a good thing for your team. Well, that's a good feeling for the boys, isn't it? I mean, you were one of the top scores when you played for the gophers in in your area, and it just. Every everybody just wants to feel good about it, doesn't it? Yeah. I mean, that's why you play the game. That's why he start playing the game. When your kid you want to score goals, with the exception of guys that jumping between the pipes. But you know, for most kids they want to score goals, and it's different when you're in college or even playing pro or when you're in high school or whatever like scoring goals is is the reason you play and you put up nine you'll have a good feeling in the room. There's a few people around town thinking we should have saved a couple for the next night because on the Saturday game when we owner the nineteen Seventy-nine national championship team. Gophers losing four to three they were down to one in the second took a three to two lead on a pair of power play goals, but Wisconsin tied at late second. And then got the lone goal in the third, but I thought for both teams they played better in the Saturday game than they did in that nine to four game on Friday. Yeah, we were actually fairly happy with our game on Saturday other than you know, we had a few mistakes that ended up costing us. And they were they were they were pretty big mistakes in on our defensive zone. But for the most part from from start to finish we played hard. And we play a more well rounded game than we did on Friday nights. So that was encouraging if we can just, you know, clean up the the big mistakes that cost us, you know, and we play that tape of game moving forward. We should be in good shape. You know, when you guys were back looking at the video, and I know you spend a lot of time looking at that. What are some of the areas that were mistakes that you wanna see cleaned up going forward? From week to week. It's one thing or the other. I mean, you know, you work on something and practice that we he probably usually generally pretty good in that area. And then you know, there's so much to work on that you can touch on everything fully that you wanna touch on in a week. So, you know on the game against Wisconsin on Saturday night, you know for trust. It was kind of tracking back into the dis identifying our man and finding who we're supposed to pick up and know not having to guys go to one guy and things like that. And it ended up costing us, and that's communication, and we're going to get to work on that next week. It might be something different. That's kinda the way hockey goes. And it's kind of compounded because I think when I look back at the shot chart worthy goals were coming from a lot of them were right around goal. Most scrambles, and I can see where be easy as a player just to get focusing on the puck watching the puck and not necessarily picking up a guy who might be wide open. Yeah. I know I think it's human nature. I mean, you know, the puck is is what the games played with obviously. And that's the most important thing. But you know, when the puck does get kind of scrambled around the. Crease there you got to tell you guys to to find a guy and get stick up. So that you know, the puck comes down. He is not able to shoot it in the net. So. You know, it's kind of a thing that you know, you learn at an early age. But you gotta keep reminding yourself throw throw your career, and I know, you know, coach traveling talking with our D, And and that's a big, you know, teaching point with him. And and it is with our forwards because of the puck. It's in there. You gotta claps and find guys and get sticks up. Well, there's some really good positives over the weekend. And certainly wanted was a power play three goals each night. That's that's just a huge amount of power play goals and a weekend and anybody that watches the game or falls a game or played the game knows that special teams are especially heading to the end of the season are going to be important. You penalty kills gotta be good. You possibly has got to be good because I can be the difference in most games down the stretch. So it bodes well for us, and that's powerplays click it in and hopefully it continues. You know, Bob does a great job with that. He studies it and watches it works there guys. And does a lot of work with them and understanding, you know, different different setups and different things. But you know, if it goes Staley's is usually pretty good at rejuvenating it so it's been good for most part of the year. Wally shaver and assistant coach. Ben, Gordon talking gopher hockey here. The the the one line of the GPS line of gates in she huge numbers on the weekend. Tyler she with a goal and six assists, rent lake, three goals and assists, junior gates tools to assist line was broken up for the parts of the weekend here. But then reassembled just the reason behind breaking those guys up with the success that they've had lately. It might be kind of a generic answer. But I think you know, anytime you break a lineup. That's you know, even having some success or. Doing well is just try to shake things up. And maybe see if you can get some other guys going or, you know, if you got a line, we're all three guys are going maybe putting one of those guys on a different line. That's kinda struggling a little bit can kinda kick start them. So you know, it's a long season and to go through the season with the same lines is pretty unrealistic doesn't happen too often. So you, you know, I think the idea behind it was maybe just a couple of guys going, and, you know, shake things up and give a different look you're kind of an interesting circuit you've taken because you're with this program three years ago as the coordinator for for video and also working on travel arrangements and a lot of the other behind the scenes details last hockey season. You went to Chicago in the US H working coaching in the junior ranks air, and then had the opportunity to come back as an assistant coach with this program. So different duties altogether. From what you're doing before? How did that transition transpire for you? It started out. You know, I wasn't sure if I wanted to coach hockey, and I took my first job is coaching d three at at Saint Scholastica. Which was it was it was a blast. I had I had a good time. There some good kids and. You know that I went to the USA Jalen tri-city, and that's kind of the year that I I realized that there. Okay. I wanna be I wanna be a hockey coach. My dad was a coach. I I made the decision that this is just a part of who I'm going to be in this. You know, what I wanna do? Then I got the opportunity from dawn to come here and do the video, and I knew that video coaching and teaching is huge part of the way the game is gone. And I wanted to learn it, and I wanted to learn it inside mountain Don gave me the opportunity to do that. It didn't have to do a whole lot of the travel arrangements. Fortunately, you know, he kind of let me dive into the hockey part of it. And just learn that. In all I got a lot out of that. And I learned a lot. But I knew I need to get back behind the bench and needed to get back on the ice coaching fulltime. And I got the opportunity Chicago and jumped on that and had a good year their coach some good kids. And then I was fortunate enough to find my way back here lucky enough because this is where I wanna be. Yeah. Well, things are going great with that. We'll pay for just a moment come back with more of the Bob Moscow show after this time out from learfield..

"Show brought to you by subway, the official training westbound of gopher athletics. Now here are paddling Colletti and Wally shaver. Philo once again, everybody, we welcome you to another edition of gopher hockey featuring head coach Bob macho the men's team rather tough weekend. Bob coming off of that great weekend at Notre Dame where the gophers picked up a pair of wins. But this past weekend is a pair of five to three losses to Michigan state. Even though the gophers on Saturday nights game did score the first goal. Michigan state did respond to the next four goals in the game. Three of them on the power play. So it put gophers down in the hole got a couple of goals back to close the gap, but not enough there. And then last night Sunday night the second game of the series is tied at one after one. Gophers outscored three to one in the second period again down four to two but. Jackson got a goal midway through the third to close the gap. But then Michigan state added one more so kind of a tough way to to summarize this weekend. And I I think you said it best in our post game show. You U coaches were probably a little blindsided by the losses and really only had one good theory at all weekend that was it was a bad bad weekend for us. And and especially after you know, how to losses sweep last week at Notre Dame. And and you get out of the, you know, you go into the room, and I talked to you guys, and I pick my phone up, and you've got twenty text messages coming in from all over when you get swept there's not one. I don't even here. And and then I referenced that's the same thing. I mean, nobody's taking it harder than we are. Yeah. I it's one of those things that that they have lived through before. But it's really a high high low because you come off winning three straight. You. And we use terms like turning the corner. Here we come in. You you use those terms and not even a week later. You know, it's gloom again. And in the truth is right in the middle where we're at all has to come back to when in the bottom line. You know, and we can. Which will dig into it. We were we were flat. And that's all that's what I'll make the comment that blindsided us because just when you think you shouldn't be flat that you should be a team I going on in all and there's not the excuses. You're going on the road for the second week, and it was a little bit of a different week last week. But even Thursday when we got there it was oh something's wrong. Something's not right..

"Here's Wally shaver. Hello, again, hockey, fans, everywhere, and what's more. We welcome into monitoring. Minnesota. Gophers gets set to take on Michigan state wolverines that's a big one Frank because Michigan state last year the year before this year been last placed team in the big ten conference right now they've won two out of the three previous matches a season gopher really badly. Need a win here today. Really do they come into the game eight points behind Ohio State, which converted into games is what to and two-thirds game. But they have a game in hand on the buckeyes. So the buckeyes our first place eight points back to golden gophers hit porn. Also permission can state imports. They're currently tied for last place. Other words, they lifted themselves up last night to a tie that fifth spot with Wisconsin. Wisconsin badgers will play later today. I get Michigan. I'm sorry gets Notre Dame in Chicago important for Michigan state. They want to get out of the cellar and the golden gophers won a creep back closer to Ohio State, which they were only two points away from Ohio State coming into this weekend. Yeah, they were right there knocking on the door and those two points ended up being those two three on three Lawson's Minnesota suffered back at three. Marina. Okay. To Ohio State who Ohio State? They had to remind us. Fortunately, here's Tara Harrelson Senate, if we get underway top line starting now for the Spartans tonight, the K H L line golden gophers break-up a play in Santa back into the Spartan zone parole seat the flesh, and then goes right to the golden gophers lost by Minnesota. And how will he carries to center ice? Halsey getting it off to the defenseman. Susanna now set it all I know and Belsky shot is rob why Robson Lewandowski with two goals last night, Frank. I thought that one was really only on. Yeah. I really do too. But I was just a spectacular glove had cash by rob said. Post. But hey, I tell you what as an athletic play just a fabulous catch by Matt Robson who comes into the game number three in the big ten in goals-against average at forty nine. Off the face off of the gopher Robson deflects went office blocker that was high and wide and knew the corner. Sorta breaks it under the zone out to center ice. It is Spartans. Blue line come up from there. Were eleven Tommy Apep. Very good cinnamon who takes the majority of their draws plays it into the gophers on long shot from the point is deflected on a play. Staying in the Minnesota zone next face off. Gates. Out for the golden gophers. Some call it the GPS line. They've been together since the twenty third of November game against Minnesota state and they have scored in thirteen consecutive game. Yeah. That's pretty good. Forty three points in thirteen games for that trail. And here is rampant lick scored last night. It's dumped in on goal Latham in stick sends it off to his white. They go around the corner, but is picked up by the gophers now. And here's junior gates grew up just an hour and a half away from here over in Grand Rapids, Michigan back onto the point. It's whip there's a long shot. Let them and says. Held onto. We'll have a face off in the Michigan state. And now, I think it was junior gates to send that one back to the point. I'm not sure what. But it was really good. Yeah. Got the puck hot of a bunch of skates. And just back to the blue light for that shot. Excellently played. And now the freshmen are out there. Some are calling the BMW. We just don't have. Blind names like we used to it. Actually, you know, I don't ever remember having wine names any of the gopher teams with with any consistency. Over the years. We've been around must be a new trend by sports information directors coming up with nicknames coming up with nicknames or as coach Bob said yesterday called him a bunch of goof-balls. Gophers have it at center ice, and the goofball line shoots it in on the four check when mcglaughlin down there, you see that might stick more than BMW. I would think so. High-end car a bunch of goof-balls mcglaughlin behind that takes it off to the left side using one hand to ward off on opponent back to a point. Now skucool wrister goal. That's off the glass. Michigan state will slowly start up ice by just a couple of minutes in this one. Spartans dump it in bowl teams changed on the fly. Gophers oath to center ice, Jack Ramsay has it grammar down the right wing wall. Stops the senior then ladles it off into the corner. Joy Maruni in the lineup tonight is down there with it. He's joined by Scott. Reedy on this trail. Michigan state back into the Minnesota zone Saliba hassle the left and long rising shots off target Karim's out of the corner and circulates itself all the way back down ice. Browning? His goal. Now is cool. Krieger, here's a twin brother on this team. They both play defense for the Spartans. And they both in NHL browse. Both to center ice headman pass Brandon McManus dad's it in front of the. Spartan bench. Still loose in Rancho will play back to his defense. I don't know three minutes in here. We seen anything called offense yet. Not really. That I shop by Lewis L skis. Both the highest one we've seen all night. Glad you remember that one that would slipped. My mind already. Rosberg will dump it into the Minnesota's all McNabb try to tip it through. It doesn't all quarter wrinkle all alone in front. They took. Why by Rosie with an open met? He was actually behind Robson and steered quarter ankle shot wide open MP cage. Greenwich out from Minnesota for Novak. Tommy turning at his own blue live. I trying to get up across ice against the top line. Novak does dancing around Hiroshi cuts to the middle. Try to leave a trailer there, but it's picked off shot at the center ice by the K H L line Rosie raceway after it. He has three assists last night's game. Gets it over to Louis Belski. But he missed it and McManus.

"They will go with what the coach says and call them the goofball. Whatever works for you. That was a classic goal or the puppies, whatever they're fun to watch. And they create a lot of good lives on this gopher team. Down one nothing. Michigan state will throw the bucket of the gopher end trying to pick it up off the boards is Adam good, sir. Minnesota grabs it off McManus short passed a rental kicked the head now for Novak streaking down the right tiny cuts towards the middle off to McManus. Novak is delay. Down in the attack zone for Minnesota here to begin the power play effort their first of the game. Minnesota's had some very good special teams this year. Not so for Michigan state, especially the penalty kill conference seventy percent efficiency as fourth from bottom in the entire nation may have allowed goals in thirteen straight games. Just ugly penalty kill number all they are. That's why we talked to a head coach. The spartans. Renton Cole a boat special teams in the importance. They have in the second half of the season. It's cortisol at Michigan state gets better there. But meanwhile, the gophers will set things up she getting it off to the side of the net and a tap-in effort is stopped at. Very quickly. "Thou with a coal of the game. Here's Wally shaver. Hello, again, hockey fans everywhere. And we welcome you to Monterey. Anna were the Minnesota. Golden gophers set to take on the Michigan state Spartans. Minnesota's third straight road game. And what a wonderful start to this four game road trip rank with a very impressive two games. Sweep over Notre Dame in Notre Dame Indiana last weekend, and what's nice one of the nice things about the six points. Right there. There were five very solid periods of hockey for the gophers a little bit softer the first period of the second game. But the big part of that was they not only do they turn it around. But they turned it around for that second period in great fast, and which showed great resiliency and some leadership veterans. I would say. The Brady Forrest center ice faceoff referees tonight. Our Steve McCain, John and Jonathan. The linesmen are testing Cornell and Nick. Off the draw comes back into the zone for the Michigan state Spartans Rothberg defenseman gets to center ice to dangerous. Tara Rosie his rising shot sales over top the Minnesota net. And it scooped up by the gophers who begin their trek up. Ice. Junior gates on a Grand Rapids. Michigan plays a back to the Michigan state line. Then blocks down return pass. It was ready to get still loosen neutral. And these Spartans we'll take it back to their defense. Here. They come up ISIS. We've just begun this afternoon. Start tonight here in east Lansing. Get those two confused. They don't like that. We should know that as much time as we spend here we're in the minor leagues. Of course, we call Michigan Michigan and Michigan state user referred to in this state is simply as St. eight. I forgot about that. Yeah. And here is state clearing. The puck back to the golden gopher blue line tired. Any will roar back in behind his own? Dole slowdown crank it off the right wing wall to center ice. Now. Kamer we'll try to play inside the Minnesota zone. That's Austin Kamer. He falls down and then dropped so park back to his defense starting up from areas. They're veteran back there. Zac, Osborne, hassle stolen. Here's sample rain. Coming in the right side cut right in buddies four or five by the defense on a solid play there to break up an ideal scoring attempt. Gophers right back to McMahon is right. Any shows? All right on and let them and makes a nice say good start by the gophers getting a couple of good tries with this line of Novak Ranta and McManus. I lied. I lied had a little bit of a tough shift out there. But the second one is excellent. So far. Now behind Minnesota goal is check the knock down on a good defensive play there by Minnesota Franklin defenseman lobby. Stuck? Gophers right back on the attack cross ice past and all that gone into the left wing corner ducks around one out in front of McMahon is but it got past offers hold the point long shot by Phillips, though is blocked off the leg of Logan, Landon and then moved to neutral lights. Both teams changing on the goal. Tommy Novak's passed a flex off of a stick. Sam Saliba and all the spark news come right back at Saliba the team captain driving it in Robson slows it for souls. Dorf he'll take it in the left corner and wing it up the boards now for Garrett wait to Jack Ramsey, he'll dump it in Scott reading on the four check. But the netminder Lachmann will play it on round not cleared out by Mitchell. Matson gophers keep it down low. Ridi working the boards. Stop back behind that up by the neck. And taken over by the defense of the Spartans. No score in this game. Gophers backup plug up the neutral zone. Five guys waiting between the blue lines. Now, Tara Hiroshima's a top line comes back on the line. Gophers many players have told us to always be aware when that line is on the ice. Boy, they normally they come up the ice with speed this'll be their second attempt to come outta their zone, and so far no speed. But a pass goes to the right wing side for her Rosie normally left-winger plays it on round and sent right back to him on the right wing boards. He walks back towards the blueline passed a Lewandowski has shot come go with a backhand swat, and it goes wider little piece in front of the net. One of the leading goals scores in the big ten conference. His the settlement Patrick quartering. Call now Ryan's Ohlsdorf to Saito up ice for junior gates. He's on a Grand Rapids. Michigan dumped it into the attack dog defenseman. Ross is back after it. Leaves it for coda Ranko to carry the team back up ice reaching the Minnesota blueline his to linemates have gone off on a change. Fairly. Well, contained a little help from the goaltender Robson but fairly well contained. I would guess so four shot on goal that line had. Play back to the left of the Minnesota net. Working up along the boards is Tommy their top guy on the face off circle. Got down into the corner boards in a sworn on around. But Minnesota will break up the play and come back down ice. Sliding the puck has war heads back in behind the Michigan state goal. Gophers at. Sammy walker? Click assembling from McLaughlin, and the freshman up on nothing gophers they go in. They said two guys on a very hard for check trailing to play the center ice. But Sammy Walker guess what McLaughlin knew exactly where he was going to be quick pass that much quicker back at the end of the golden gophers up blood nothing. I don't know that I've been calling this line and in particular McMahon, McLaughlin, Wiley. Wylie's the right word year. I.

"Along with engineer, Paul black. This is Wally shaver along with head coach Bob Moscow. Minnesota golden gophers who have completed the weekend sweep at Notre Dame. They have now won three straight games. Gophers are looking very fine was a record of seven wins. Just three losses and three ties in her last thirteen games, and Bob we're just talking off Mike here. But sometimes the median town could be a little bit negative towards as gopher hockey team. However, you can't dispute the facts now that like I say that seven wins in the last thirteen games teams now in second place in the big ten standings, and you can see the improvement week to week. Well, the the negative talk. Sometimes is also a compliment because you know, everybody holds our program at high high standard, and so that's the positive insurance. If you fail that high standard they're gonna they're gonna take a poke at ya. You know, we have young kids, and as we've talked young guy young men, I still call them kids know, we've we stubbed our till we have some haunting losses the first half that we can't change today. Like now, they're done in their past. We're we're getting better. And that's all I want this team to to read is we're a team getting better believing in ourselves, a am I making comments that we've turned some big corner? No, we're just and I said I like this team. I like our direction we're getting better. And that's the narrative that I want this team to know. The haunting past from what we did in the couple laws are done. I mean, so we're being tagged with that. But can't change. It is an hockey. We have the longest season that that there is on the planet in college sports. I mean, we start in football we end in baseball, and you're going to have some roller coaster ups and downs. And and Notre Dame who's nine was six and whatever. Now, they just lost two. Now, the tag there it you're the team that takes takes a hit. And we saw North Dakota get swept to Caen shis, and they take a hit, you know, there's more parody in college hockey, and you're going to get bounced around. I know we need to have our program at a higher level, and we're going to get there. But this team right now, we're coaching this team this team's making some strides right now. And and I'm really h to see if we make another one can we take another big step, and let's keep working toward well now with you and your coaching staff getting some familiar with the big familiarity with the big ten conference you've gone through the conference schedule. Having played each of the other opponents once we go to Michigan state this weekend team that we've already seen here at three marina Mary. It was a split weekend. The gophers did very well. The first night winning seven two lost four to two. But what can you take now since you've seen? Everybody wants and going into the second round with them. Well that was for me. It was going through the first time because I didn't I was not familiar with a lot of the big ten teams. And and. To go. It'll take a couple a couple of years for me to get real familiar. Lahser. No coaching changes in the in styles and how they play. Now, we come back to our first one we're doubling up on Michigan state, and they're building and you just start with their top players with with and our ski and. Heroes show how positive. Yeah. That's a that's as big time. Align is in college hockey. So I know you can point to them be at the bottom of the standings. But they've been dangerous. They came back and beat us when we had a lead on them. In Penn State the other night. They took him down scored six at Penn State very dangerous team. The team. I and I know they're coaching staff. Stewart a terrific job in in our league is going to be very unforgiving in as there are a couple of leagues but big ten is unforgiving. You're the days. I think last year was I do I think it was an aberration where we're Notre Dame. Just ran off the start of the year and hidden I place all year. I don't know if that's going to happen. Too often. There's just too many good programs in the seven where you're going to get knocked around. Even we're talking in in Notre Dame this last weekend. One of you guys made a you were Frank made the statement what place where and I said, we're all tied for first. No. Ohio State at a little little cushion. But we're all tied for second place with three points in a win. I mean, you couldn't breathe between two and six and in any way, you know, there's enough talk on our standings just got to fight week to week. And and and I'm not gonna hide it was huge getting a sweep you get six points. Now, you just have to avoid being swept at any point in your season and and keep scrapping in and trying to get better and get to the top. Well, as you said, we'd do go to Michigan state this weekend. They do have that very impressive K H L line with some people say is the best line in college hockey this year of quota Ranko, her Rosie in Lewandowski, do you put specific coverage on them with one particular group of guys or is that something that's more difficult to match since they get the final change. It will it's almost impossible to match when you're the road team in in what one thing I like, we've got good depth from a defensive standpoint. That's one thing. I think we've quietly bend. All season long. As is a fairly good defensive team. Then it starts with Matt Robson. But the way we have our lines right now. And in our guys are buying in where they were playing and I keep switching to get off. Michigan state. I go back. That's I'm not avoiding we're playing our guys in all situations. We're not just leaning on one line to you know, to to lead us from a defensive standpoint or one line to lead us in an offensive standpoint. We the other night we put we put our freshman with under a minute to go in in in young mcglaughlin gets the goal. We were us Ramsey in re to finish a game. And we're building confidence within our our roster right now. And so when we play a team Lake Michigan state. They're going to be times when we've got it's all hands on deck. Yeah. And and I like that if. You get to dictate the matchup when near at home, but you know, half year season, you're not at home. And so great tests for us to you have to be aware. We'd love to have, you know, especially the fence, you know, like to have Sadiq out there when when that top line is out, but we don't know if all of a sudden say that has a minute shift, and he's tired, well, someone else someone else can have to cover that line and keep puck steep and in play our hockey make them to defend us. What I find interesting too is where the team was a little bit goal challenge at the beginning of the year not from a defensive standpoint because as you just pointed out that's been pretty solid right from the get-go. But now we're over the last eight nine games this team is averaging three point two three point three goals per game. So what's happened is your scoring? And you're spreading that throughout the lineup. Mcglaughlin gets his first to the week before Ramsey gets his first goals of the year. So it got a lot of contribution contributions coming from all four lines. I'll go back to the word confidence. And just how you said really gets a hat trick a few games ago Ramsey too a weekend. Mcglaughlin gets to Tommy white. Your gates goes on five game scoring streak. We that's starting to build within our. And then you got Samuel Walker who's the same every night. Yeah. Who whose outstanding spent a little bit now Berkman contributed with some assists? I think we're developing some confidence within our group to make place. And that's what we want. We want to get with this group. Norman now Norman's out again, and he helped us when he got back in there. He's a smart hockey player. And and now we've gotta have someone fill in for for an army was he and remained core both outright now. So that confidence goes a long way into getting the three point two getting over the two and that has to continue to grow. We're not there yet. But but it we've opened the door. There's daylight coming through that part of our game. I would really like to to see some defenseman now start to add to offensively. And we're going to continue to push that to push that envelope with our defensemen to join the play. We want him involved from the from the line. You know, there's been a couple of games where they kind of spring off in a week in the left seven points. And then they kinda go quiet again. But we you know, if there's a wishlist for me right now and the New Year's on the second half as we need some of our defenseman to to to raise it just one click one notch level higher on the bar or from an offensive standpoint to help our team not only as a team doing well on the ice. They're doing fantastic in the classroom. When we come back after this break, we'll talk a little bit about these student as part of the athlete conversation when we return after this from learfield. "Text join to four zero four four so what should you do right now? Sign up and make a count marathon fueling the American spirit. Wally shaver front Masako back here. Now the lefty Smith rank at the Compton family ice arena, golden gophers defeating the Notre Dame fighting Irish five to one open up the weekend series three stars. And the honorable mention goes to the goaltender Matt Robson. Forty two saves ninety eight percent saves percentage. Does that tell you how well in front of him? Yes. I mean, you know, we're we're gone still with this feeling that forty-three shots on goal. Really wasn't the toned the two to one edge in shots by Notre Dame was nowhere close to the tone of this game. So you're gonna have to trust us on that one. But Matt was great and had he not been in. There would have been a lot more hard work. But for third star. I'm gonna go with the guy gets his first collegiate goal picks up to assist has worked been working his tail off all year long. That's Blake McLaughlin, while he is part of a he got a goal and assist as I mentioned. The freshman contributed seven of the eleven scoring points tonight. That's impressive. That's pretty darn good. And and Blake and that line. So he's gonna get a part of a star to just share with his his linemates Sammy Walker and Nathan Burke, Burke, maybe could have gotten a star to just for that setup. What turned out to be the game winning goal which was scored by McLaughlin Solis give him credit for that to both of them credit on that game winning goal three assists for sample random. Nearly doubled. His yearly total he came into the game with four assists now walks out with seven assists tonight. And he was just a great playmaker. Yup. Which quite honestly, we haven't seen a lot of playmaking from Santa from sample. He's been good. He's been skilled. He's been he you know, he's been all over the especially all over the offensive zone tonight. Jeld it came together. His game came together as a member of a line and contributing and that that lasts past officer who set up Walker McLaughlin. That's the way I wrote it down. But I think you've got an McLaughlin. Yeah. But he got the puck up to him. And there were a couple of looks anyway sample rant played a major role in each of the three goals, which he assisted and for him to get free tonight. I mean, that's that's a stunning number. What we've seen him as you described in the offensive zone. Just go all over the place and quite often turn. Things over. But tonight he was making making place and they ended up in the net. And he's got the skill to make place tremendously skilled freshman hockey player. And when he learns that part of his game, we know he can shoot. That's so now you're probably wondering where is he going with the number one star? This is this is not necessarily the numbers. He produced because Tommy Novak was not good on face offs tonight. Norway was anybody for the golden gophers as a matter of fact, but Tommy Novak scores the goal at twelve oh four the first period on a blistering shot from about forty seven or whereas you'd call that he got himself said he got himself open to get that great pass from McManus and laser it in. But that's not the only play Tommy Novak was a leader up and down the ice. It was as great a two game two way game two hundred foot game as I've seen Tommy play. And for that leadership. I think I'm giving. That's why I'm giving him the number one star for Novak's leadership tonight. Well, we heard coach Moscow talk praising Louis of him. Yep. Then that was good heals. Your three stars. We've got our out of town. Score segment coming up next after this from learfield. Welcome to.

"There's no problem a little horsepower can solve northern tool and a quick much. This is the gopher post game show recap of today's games statistics. Walk interviews in highlights. Once again, Wally shaver. And we welcome you back to the captain family ice arena. Golden gophers wrote shot by a two to one margin throughout the game including thirty to seventeen or the last two periods. But in those last two periods AO score the Irish five to one and that's final. And frankly, just throw so many accolades at the gophers for Holwell they played overall tonight. You you just mentioned some pretty stunning numbers Walton, I'm telling a couple of friends by way of text messages during our commercial break here. Believe the score not the shots on goal. Good point. The score tells the story in this one folks not the shots on goal. Minnesota did not play like they were outshot forty three to twenty two. It was at least an even more Minnesota had a ten goal edgy percentage. I mean, it was a it's amazing. They only get twenty two shots on goal. They score five times. They scored four goals in the third period. Okay. One of them was an empty net. That's still three third period goals. How long has coached Moscow been saying I just wish we could get three. Well, they get the three in one period alone. It was shift after shift after shift line after line after line. It was his way from the beginning of the game on and then within each shift was man after man after meant there was just a relentless pursuit of the puck. Of the Notre Dame puck carrier of getting in behind the Notre Dame defense, which I didn't think was humanly possible to do what they did it repeatedly here tonight. And then got absolutely great goaltending. At the other end absolutely unique played well defensively at center ice they played so well defensively. The thing that I like to the first two periods were Minnesota's owed shot twenty six fourteen. We're looking at the shot chart. The gophers had a two to one advantage in grade. Eight shots on goal because it is such a fine job defensively in their own enforcing outside shots perimeter shots. Play Notre Dame atom up on and I got through two periods. A great chances attempts twelve eight and favor of Minnesota. Okay. And most of those twelve again were in behind the defence Kilmore face. Five goals by the golden gophers, including the first of the year for both Tommy Novak and Blake McLaughlin. We'll take a break and come back with the head coach Bob Moscow after this from learfield..
