Weekend Mass Shootings Dominate News Coverage
"Killer in laguna Woods, you may not know about. Yesterday afternoon, a 60 year old Asian man, that's the only description I have from the Los Angeles Times, stood up in a luncheon honoring a former pastor at a Taiwanese Christian church in laguna Woods, which is not far from my old home in Orange County. They were welcoming back for a luncheon, Jerry Chen, excuse me, I want to get that Jerry Chandler's the fellow gave the quote the former pastor's name is here somewhere I can't find it, but Tom Kramer, who is the head of the presbytery of Los ranchos. Again, I used to be a member of this Presbyterian. Kramer did not know if the pastor was harmed in the shooting, a pastor clobbered the gunman as he tried to reload with a chair and a bunch of the so called older victims. They were all in their 60s. Those not shot tackle them in hog tied in, but it's a 60 year old Asian man is the killer there. In Harris county, Texas, the more traditional weekend shooting, two young men shooting at each other, wounding three and killing two at a Harris county flea market. At 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. So guns are everywhere, The Wall Street Journal, however, wrote about the particular evil of the buffalo shooting. There is a culture of white supremacy in the United States and people need to understand not large, but it definitely evil and it's dangerous because it attracts the unbalance like this 18 year old this was pure evil said Erie county sheriff Garcia in an app summary of the mass murder at a cyber market in Buffalo writes The Wall Street Journal. That appears to be racially motivated. The alleged shooter 18 year old Peyton gendron, the last time you'll hear his name on my show, is another young man possessed by inexplicable hatred.
Biden Administration Foolishly Refuses to Allow More Drilling
"Let me turn to this insane drilling stuff because it's like you can't make it up. The Wall Street Journal did a great thing the other day. I actually said this. Months ago, it's like Joe Biden needs to channel George Costanza from Seinfeld, where you just do the opposite of what you think you should do. That might actually help. Wall Street Journal had a great op-ed. Saying the same exact thing, just the other day. And this is one where, yeah, we really need where's George. Where's George Costanza? So the Biden administration is canceling drilling leases despite the fact that we have record high oil prices. This is a decision that I think is going to have some pretty serious consequences. So they are halting this drilling in the cook inlet in Alaska. This is a pretty significant high profile oil and natural gas lease opportunity that was before the interior department. And it's a little strange because he's been saying, yeah, yeah, yeah, in recent months, we're going to boost our oil and that gas production here in the U.S., right? Has the situation overseas not taught us anything in terms of the importance of being energy independent. And yet now, now, with inflation at a 40 year high with energy coming off of the market, so therefore driving energy prices even higher, his idea is to not approve leases. I mean, it's sort of mind boggling. And yes, brings us right back to that Seinfeld, George Costanza example, please. Please start doing the opposite of what you think is
K. T. McFarland: How Does Putin Read the Current Conflict?
"KT and I talk every Friday we talk national security. We talk Trump. We talk scotch. One thing we haven't talked about. I'm looking at a post of yours online. It's as Biden once regime change. U.S. Intel brags about targeting Russian generals for Ukraine kills. Lindsey Graham and sis on Putin's unconditional surrender. They may be right, but they are unintentionally goading Putin into expanding the war, question mark. Let's talk about that for a second. Putin doesn't look stable. These things may be the kind of finger in the chest things that set them off. What do you think, KT? Yeah. It's not what's right or what's just. It's what's likely to happen. Should Ukraine win? Yes. Should Russia lose shift? Should Putin be kicked out of absolutely. But what's likely to happen? Lindsey Graham says, well, there's no negotiated solution that we want. It's either unconditional surrender. But how does Putin read this? He reads it a couple of ways. One, he's been in power so long that he identifies himself as Russia. So when somebody says regime change and when it looks like they're helping target Russian generals, he looks at that as an assault against the Russian homeland. And for that, the Russian vaccine says you can use whatever weapons you want. Weapons of asset strikes and nuclear weapons is if somebody is coming after the Russian homeland. And number two, who knows how stable he is. He's been, he's made miscalculations throughout. This is a different Vladimir Putin. So 20 years, he's really had a very bad hand at poker, but he's played it really well. This is the first time that he's miscalculated on his army on Ukrainian resistance. What would happen with NATO? And so he's now facing a very sort of back up against the wall position.
David McCormick Gives an Update on His Campaign in Pennsylvania
"Where do things stand Hey Mark how are you Thanks for having me You bet Thank you It's a dead sprint you know It's 6 days to go And you can feel it People told me that Pennsylvania sort of finishes late and you can feel there's about 20% of the voters still deciding it can feel people focus I've been driving across the state today I've done 5 or 6 stops And listen there people are mad about the direction of the country They're scared about the American Dream slipping away They're pissed off about inflation and gas prices and fentanyl In our great Tom wall at the Pennsylvania and they're looking for a fighter that's going to go to Washington and push back on this crazy weakness and weakness And so it's a tight race in the polling It looks very close among myself and memorizing Kathy Barnett And the race is going to be decided in the next 6 days So it's exciting and I feel like I'm getting good momentum but it's all about execution

Kari Lake: Arizona Governor Race Is the Most Important 2022 Election
"Well and Arizona is I think the most important Arizona governor's race is the most important election in 2022 for the entire country And here's why We only have two border states left in Republican governor's hands And even I don't think they're doing enough to secure our border But if we lose a border state to a socialist Democrat like the one I'll be running against in November Katie Hobbs she's just like Gavin Newsom I think we lose our country We can't afford to have this border crisis continuing Right now we have a Republican governor He's kind of piece mealing his attack and trying to secure the border not doing much We need a serious Bohr plan I have it and I'm going to implement it on day one starting with declaring an invasion on our border And then getting our National Guard or Arizona National Guard armed into the border to stop people from coming over finishing Trump's wall And we're going to blow up these drug tunnels and shoot down the cartel drones I can't believe we've been allowing this to go on as long as we have And we have the right to do this by the way Dan in the
The Biden Economy Is Stumbling Towards Stagflation
"All right, fat war and sharp rise in interest rates pose risks to U.S. economy. Bitcoin falls from falls 55% from its high, according to The Wall Street Journal. What's this all mean? Well, it means exactly what I told you two months ago. We are headed for stagflation with inflation and a recession at the same time. It's a replay of the Carter presidency. It's a replay of the aftermath of the Carter presidency. All kind of compressed. I think the rebound from the Carter presidency at the end of the next Republican president will be very, very quick. Come 2025, but we're stuck because Joe Biden's reflex. Let's spend more money. That will not work. In fact, you got to drain the money out of the system. There is no scientific way to do this. You have to use a bludgeon. You have to use a hammer on interest rates to drive out inflation.

When Former FBI Agent Steve Gray Began Seeing Rot in the Bureau
"Just want to remind people, so I've been to Quantico many, many times. And when Steve talks about what the FBI represented to him, he used these three words. Fidelity bravery integrity. He didn't choose those by accident because when you're in the main building for the new agents course, there is a plaque on the wall that instead of the classic FBI badge that says federal bureau of investigations, the letters FBI are transliterated into fidelity, bravery and integrity. So he didn't pick those at random. That's what the FBI's values should be, but we've seen, of course, that they are no longer that. You've been speaking out against your former employer. We're going to talk about what happened to you the consequences of your bravery doing that. But will you tell us when you think the rot began, Steve? So when did you stop perceiving that the 7th floor at the Hoover building was starting to do things that were politically motivated that was filtering down to the field offices in the RAs? Yeah, we first started noticing it when Comey took office. Comey is a leftist left leaning attorney. He's a leftist. He is personal friends with the Hillary Clinton and her entire family. These personal friends with Obama. We noticed it right then and there. And if it weren't for the bravery of Donald Trump, the fire this man, we would be really in terrible shape right now. I mean, we're in bad shape under ray. Unfortunately, he started out okay, but he has, he's basically in he's in save his job mode, where he doesn't want to rock the boat or do anything that's going to get him fired. So he's going to continue to tow the leftist line. But under the Comey years, we definitely noticed it. And if you look at the Hillary Clinton hit that you showed earlier, that's a prime example.
Inflation Woes Crush Wall Street Numbers
"To the news that shocked a lot of Americans that they got home last night. They saw that Wall Street shots sold off. Big time. So I let me look at what the total percentage of on the doubt was 3.12% on the S&P, it was three and a half percent on the NASDAQ. It was 4.99%. The Amazon was down almost 5% itself. And I'll tell you what, it's probably going to go on for a while. Because the market knows the fed meets every couple of months and is going to raise interest rates a half point every time they meet until such time as inflation is broken because every single person that inflation is the enemy here. And don't worry, if you're unless you're a speculator and you're selling puts and calls. And that's just gambling. I'm not sure Robinhood kiddo, who thought, you know, I was going to make a fortune by trading GameStop and AMC. You expect this and you grim and bear it. If you're an investor, as opposed to a speculator or a trader, you just say, ah, well, you know, that was a good 5 years. And it'll be a year before we start to climb steadily again. Maybe two. But it will, the S&P, the NASDAQ, the Dow, big tech, strong commodities, like P and G, but they always come back. Boeing's got troubles only announced it's moving its corporate headquarters. Near me and the beltway and that is simply the capitulation of corporate America to the reality of the interest rates and tax rates of living in a blue city.
The Leak's Purpose Was to Intimidate SCOTUS Justices
"If the precedent is you can leak an opinion and then frighten a justice and to changing their mind you can forget it The whole thing will be finished Credibility campfire done I'm very very concerned about their safety Folks this was leaked for a reason It was leaked for the sole purpose of the leak here was to intimidate and create this air of danger around them so that they're intimidated into potentially changing their minds There's a lot of theories out there about who may have leaked it folks it's pretty clear that regardless of who leaked it the left is now using it to intimidate and create a very very violent space around this argument so that these Supreme Court Justices think twice about this at issuing their final ruling The Wall Street Journal is concerned about this too They say the Supreme Court leak on roe V wade They say one question is how fast the court should now move to push its decision and the Dobbs case Folks they should release this thing immediately Every single day that goes by presents another leftist wingnut for an opportunity to either incite or call for violence against one of these justices hoping something happens so they can't issue a final ruling This is serious stuff This isn't funny time This isn't campfire story time This is serious stuff I dealt with crazies all the time in my prior line of work There are far far less impactful scenarios like this that said people over the ledge
The Roe v. Wade Draft Decision Is Not a Surprize
"Henry Olsen had a great opinion piece in the Wall Street in The Washington Post yesterday. The leak is a shock what the draft decision says is not. And I tweeted it out. I hope you follow me on Twitter at you. You ought to see this because it's really quite an amazing summary. Nobody is surprised that at least 5 and I suspect 6 justices are going to overturn roe and Casey. It's bad constitutional law has been bad constitutional law for 49 years and everybody who knows constitutional law knows that. They say, oh, reliance, and it should be that way. Well, amend the constitution or pass a national law based on interstate commerce,
Elon Musk Has a Plan for Twitter... Taking it Private
"The Elon Musk news and Twitter Elon Musk is reportedly considering taking Twitter public again a few years after he writes the ship by taking it private. This is all according to a new report in The Wall Street Journal. It's not surprising at all. It's one of the things I actually suggested, he might be looking to do initially. It does cite reporting from the private equity community sources there at The Wall Street Journal that say Elon is telling investors he could return the social media company to the public markets just a few years, three years after going private. Now, if he succeeds in securing investment, that means he's not going to have to fork over all that money himself. He can lower the $21 billion price tag that he'd planned to kick in himself, and apparently private equity firm Apollo is said to be looking at participating. Keep in mind, this is what the industry does, right? PE industry goes in, they take these companies private, they spiff them up, and then they take them out public again. That is how they make their money in the public markets when they then make their profits. So stay tuned, it could be kind of a wild ride. He may take this thing private. He's going to clean it up. He's going to fix it up. He's going to make it more profitable because we've talked about how they really didn't quite understand how to maximize profits at this company at Twitter. So, and then you take it public again. That's how it works, right? Capitalism at

The Supreme Court Leaker Definitely Wanted to Stir the Pot
"The person who leaked not only the 5 four decision in the Dobbs case. The 5 four decision overruling roe V wade, the leaker wanted to start a pot and perhaps try to strong arm the justices, the 5 justices to reconsider to back off to get scared. I mean, obviously, justices are legal scholars, they tend to be academics, and so this person, the leaker thought, you know what? Let's put them up against the wall, so to speak. I mean, this is a, this is a gross assault on the independence of the judiciary. And to be honest, I don't think it's going to work. Why? Because quite frankly, if the court decision is 5 to four, it's leaked. The whole decision is leaked out, and let's say the court would now go back and go, you know what? We have second thoughts. We're going to go the other way. I mean, this would basically tell you that our Supreme Court is a complete joke. That they have no rectitude, they have no ability to stand independent of the mob that they are nothing more than a creation of the mob and that the mob can intimidate them at will. And so I don't think that the court could take that risk of putting its own credibility into complete

Magic question because you've lived through a lot of these injustices, cops getting no punishment for things that happened to black people. How do you feel today? You know, there's two levels. You disappointed in your hurt by what happened, but it's not just a cop. You know doing the thing and it's not the same in other places and Especially people who have fought for their country. And you know who I'm talking about and have now suddenly feel restricted. Because they don't have the freedom they fought for That seems it seems like everyone's edges are being pushed up against He's being yeah which will reveal all the MOLNAR abilities. It will also reveal all the strengths. Right it's always the both end so when we're put under pressure there are parts of us that shine. I feel so much more tenderness and compassion towards my fellow human right now and I just I just live and not place of open heartedness. And it's it's beautiful. I see it and other people too I you know. I think there's so much beauty to be seen but of course ride alongside that are are all the ways in which different parts of shatter you talking about ten this compassion and actually wrote that down because food genuinely don't necessarily know how to maybe maybe I exercise it but I don't know how to recognize but also maybe I don't know how to exercise it. How would you? What would you suggest for someone like myself because like when? I think about tenderness and compassion. I think about you know hugging someone. But now in the time of of a bushel environment how does that work in how how does one first of all be tendon compassionate towards themselves but then also You know find ways to be dot to other people. Yeah I think I think it starts with a check in both internally and inter personally write the check in is how am I house? My heart has. My Energy has my thought life and the same kinds of questions for people in your life. Hey how are you? How's your heart what's going on? What are you struggling with? What's bringing you joy in there the same questions that we ask in friendship? I think now we're just asking them much more intentionally I think it added layer though. Is this sense of helpfulness and altruism that many of us have not been deeply connected to how powerful we are to be present in other people's lives or even to provide really practical help. You know like a paid for a bunch of private sessions with my favorite yoga teacher. Just because I know that this guy needs the cash it's like I'll cash in like you know see November whatever but like there are lots of little ways that I know you're doing and I know many people who are listening to this are doing because you're just thinking like who's who's struggling. And what resources do I have? That might be helpful. So that's the tenderness compassion. It's it's internal it's the check in and then it's the what do I need? What do you need? "That's fascinating talk about grief because I even like I feel like I haven't necessarily been entirely the grief with other people have been through because I still have my parents around and like dot. I know I feel that I was going to be a big shift when I have to go through that kind of grief but I like you saying like we all have ways of dealing with grief we've had we've had grief from the beginning time but there's also the ease I suppose at the time. The easy way to deal with grief is to like put it away and Congo. It's fine and that's maybe the entrepreneurial let's see honest. Cape moving keep going and I'm all for that too right like just because you're in grief doesn't mean you roll over and die as well so it's a both end. Which is why I think this season is so hard for us because this is a season of grief in grief is quiet grief is Dr Grief is slow moving. It's not energetic. Hyper so we have to create these spaces within ourselves for this like slow sheltering hungering pulling the blankets over our heads and then we also have to create the space in the energy and the momentum within ourselves to keep moving and keep the world moving. So it's it's the both the end of it that I think. Leaves a lot of especially the entrepreneurs among us like a little bit less like am. I supposed to be sad ingredient or my supposed to be like charging through and the answer is yes yes to both a feeling unproductive during this time of crisis. I feel guilty about not starting those projects that you said you would when you had time and now you have time but you just can't bring yourself to stop them. You're definitely not alone in an article by The New York Times productivity consultant and author of hypotheticals. How to manage your attention in a world of destruction Chris. Bailey encourages people not to be so hard on themselves during this pandemic stating that. It's tough enough to be productive in the best of times let alone when we're in a global crisis the idea that we have so much time available during the day now is fantastic but these days. It's the opposite of luxury what her and because we have to be home and we have much less attention because we're living through sorry much well let's not the best best answer for an entrepreneur. 'cause the entrepreneur wants to know which way's quicker right right and of course neither are quick and and you know what's really fascinating is the process right now because what. I've been saying for the last week or so and every time I say it feels more and more truth like I feel like we're ending the time of the masculine. The time of the feminine is beginning. And I I feel like all those like even if you look at the patterns around us in the people that we talked to in the kind of stuff that you know that they're talking about this a lot more feeling involved rather than. Let's just get a golden charge towards it breakthrough staff and things like that. What do you reckon? How does that sound like hope? So I it's a little hard for me to fully wrap myself around that hope given that I live in a trump presidency where it feels still quite divided I think the masculine and feminine that dwell within all of us of course these aren't relegated to roles of men and women. This is not survive college. This is sort of the the psyche the spirit of ASS. I do think that the feminine is getting the reverence that that she has long deserved But it's a hard fought battle right. I think it's easier in some ways. Culturally for S to revert back to the masculine charge. And that's somewhat to our detriment. I mean I think when we ignore the feminine or deny ourselves the emotional experience of grief for example we do an violence to our own selves in ways. That do cost us this all these different elements that you know. We don't think about and we don't Nestle give enough time and space to when when you think about like taking care of ourselves. And he spoke about control earlier on and there's a really good point like we control all aspects like our body and stuff like that to keep i. I never actually thought for that way but we do. And I think that I am okay with isolation because I I have controlled aspects so that was really fascinating when you just set an all the things that went through my brain. How are we meant to take care of ourselves? Because I feel like we can control the at the very least right because if we put our faith and hope and love and trust in anyone why wouldn't it be ourselves and if we did that maybe everything else potentially could feel better While we did that. What are your thoughts on that? Yes I think in some ways you know we are. We are what we can most control but I think for for myself maybe for you for many of us the the most significant battlegrounds are also within US right. It's so easy for that fear to kick over into something that's unhealthy. It's so easy for our moments of sadness to dive into depression. So yes our most important intervention I think is in our self care. It's in the tenderness towards ourselves. Our ability to carefully attend to gently reverently the emotional experience it's going on inside of us Certainly the way that we do that is largely through carried for our bodies our sleep our food our movement and then our attachments The people to whom we either share space or share our hearts so There are lots of things to be done. That can help. Sues are anxious souls in in vary in very helpful in meaningful ways. What are those like for someone listening? Like what would we suggest them do like practically 'cause I also know entrepreneurs and put myself in that group feel guilty for taking time to ourselves like the day had a down day. I was Mo- upset that I was not getting stuff done because the event is getting closer than I was actually paying attention to what was going on inside me so What would you suggest for people? Yeah E- practically Let yourself sleep as much as your body wants to sleep like like. Make sure your body moves every day significantly so hopefully something that gets your heart rate up and then some stretching when we take care of our bodies we you know. It's a dive down a different direction. But that's one of the best things that we can do for mental health I I think especially during this time. It's really helpful to have some kind of creative project that demands our attention and focus But as somewhat separate from our businesses. So we've got a bunch of mutual friends who are who are making sour dough Pratt. I've got friends that are brewing. Kabukicho friends who are working with woodwork. I'm building a garden on my roof. You know things that are just requires a mental energy and are different. They're a break from our business there a break from the news and the stories but they can sort of give us an outlet where we feel like I can make something significant in the world. I think another really practical thing is just making sure that we are staying really connected to the people in our lives so one phone call a day one zoom day-to-day with someone just in your life. That you care about to kind of refuel. The the coffers of relational connection is another really just practical.

I mean, the come back to that thing about the four degrees warmer world, and and the society implies, and I do think it's not like hell's, but with a few tweaks at the margin, I think is fundamentally to revolutionary scale of restructuring of her Saudi works ended people sent to themselves. I mean, I think part of the what the wool does is also divide as wolves historically divides, the world into the people on one side and people on the other. And the thought in my mind was that thing about service on the wall is also a defining thing about who citizens of that country thing they are there's a thing in a Robert Heinlein novel. Starship troopers were to be a citizen to have the vote. You have to served in the military, and I did have that in the back of my mind as an image of how this society seizes self in. That's the reason in a sense. The reason they can to push someone off a lifeboat. You have to have quite good set of excuses. And I think the thing about the wool. Meaning the everyone else side of it is in other is completely fundamentally different kind of person for year. And the fact of having done this to your of surface. They're in a sense what make and defines society as what it is. So it's either throwback or throw forward to a more militaristic. Spartan fundamentalist conception of what kind of citizen is 'cause it cuts against another dystopia vision to kind of Yale Harare, visions of future that we're about to divide up into between the Noah's.

"Detailed conversations the road that you can't come read. He he's very interested. Knit linked with post-apocalyptic on b films and things like that. And his line on it, probably, sir. He's a professor at Sheffield is that visit certain sort of post-apocalyptic thing this interested in ethics that is in a world. There's nobody there. There's just you and various other extreme desperate survivors. And that becomes a story about ethics what your responsibilities to other people how you should behave. Because thing Simone Weil said that, you know, if you mentioned a world with no people in physi- one person that person has no rights, but they still have applications is an interesting thread in post apocalyptic fiction. But I think that's not the threat in this book because just don't think it addresses that question of what? What is it will what we owe to others? I was gonna say the they're also differences between them two that stood out. For me us is not about social collapses about session collapse outside the wool. But it's a society that in brutal ways has held itself together rigidly together. So it's not that kind of stripped away. Who are we when everything else has gone, but the road, it it affects my generation our generation, it's unbearable to read because it is from the parents point of view and the wall is about not the children, but the young adults the defenders, and it's from their point of view, the other obvious point comparisons with young adult fiction, which the road isn't the road is kind of frankly middle aged and old adult fiction. It's and it touches on all of those sentiments, yours has kind of bracing young adult fiction quality to it too. Was that in your mind? Well, the one thing I'd say the thing about social collapse that show I think that's his. Thirty has collapsed and says collapsed morally that I mean, it's become a slave state is become a code not Thawra -tarian, you know, morally blind. The rumors said the ethics of collapsed, but the some of the institutions of held together in a way in the road every institution has gone, and you're just left does ethics nothing. I offer nothing would I was thinking about was again, come back to the map of the world for degrees warmer, and what that would be like what actually that's a World War. I mean long thought that that the kind of both the effort involved in slowing and mitigating climate change and its consequences. If we don't we all talking about the the kind of effort, those involving mobile two things. Was it was interesting when the the Nazis worked out that it was possible to build an told me Bom, they ran the numbers and came to the conclusion that would take something like the entire GDP emitting medium sized country to produce the bomb, and therefore I was not possible in abandoned it, and they were right? That is what it took. It was the GDP of medium sized country. That's exactly what the allies main America spent on it. And you know, the scale of effort, I didn't imagine zooms the impact on the society. And it's a bit like World War Two. You do have in one sense functioning institutions and on the other hand, you have a kind of moral closing down and a process of, you know, he shut down certain questions, and you and OSA internally shot and just get through it. So there is something pinched constrained about the not just a functioning society bills to the inner lives of the people living through it that that. Was something I imagined by analogy with what that scale of convulsive change and conflict would be like on the point about again, this type in my head young adult wasn't in my head. But I was very wherever wanting to put it from the point of view someone had grown up after it. And I just interested in how that looks morally, you know, looking back because plenty of intergenerational feeling at the moment in the developed world in Britain in particular. But can you mention that dial all the way up if you did literally have a thing in some of the accelerated versions of climate change in which happens within a generation how the people who grow up after going to look at the people on his watch it happened..
