"It's about protecting yourself and those around you. The people you work with. The people who care about the people you love. So you've lost your right to choose. That's what Biden's telling you. There's one thing about dictators are just like bullies. They're all cowards. They're all week. They're all insecure. And clearly that's what he is right now. So he's just telling you It's not about your freedom. You have lost your right to choose this whole business of my body. My choice. No. That's how the window which, I guess is great news for the pro life movement right that the Democrats are abandoning, you know the my body my choice, which always ignored the fact that it's actually somebody else's body that's being torn apart limb from limb or burned to death or otherwise destroyed in an abortion. But But now no Joe Biden in the left telling you, you have lost your right to choose what medicine to put in your body and obviously without using the B word that Jared Polish did. Going down the road of you're just a selfish bastard If you won't submit to our will, but you've lost the right to choose. So now we're going to make you submit. That was the message today and on the heels of his debauchery in Afghanistan. On the heels of this historic weakness and surrender in Afghanistan. Who the hell is he to be telling us anything like this? And he has zero. He should have zero credibility in the eyes of anybody, and even if it was one of the historic greats, FDR, Reagan John Kennedy getting up and saying the same thing. America should push back just as hard. But this this Biden, who is just the epitome of on his best day mediocrity. Who is this historic, small timer? Not very smart, goofball. Who has just failed this nation so miserably. Getting up and talking to Americans that way. It doesn't get much worse than that. Doesn't Let's go back to the phone lines. Ryan thoughts on this before we dive into colors. I mean, you said a lot of what I would like to say. And it's just it's calling coming from a president who promised to unite us to bring us closer together to shed the past of Donald Trump and the divisiveness. I have never heard a more divisive, authoritarian speech from President That we just heard today and it goes back to your point that he is harder on Americans who choose not to get vaccinated than he is on the Taliban, which is right now raping women shooting women in public, beating them with wires and doing holding America hostage. All these other things. He is so much tougher on Americans who decides you know what? No, I I just don't want to put that medicine in my body because it hasn't been around long enough or my own risk factors aren't that high? I love the vaccine. I got it. I'm glad it was created. But the fact that that he talked so much tougher Two Americans who are just exercising their right to freedom or something very, very wrong with this guy, and it's an extension as well of the lefts, True beliefs. Naomi. I love that name. Naomi and Walden, Colorado. You're on the Dan Caplis show Welcome. Oh, yeah. Thank you. Sure. So I'm a federal employee and I got two emails today, one of which was telling me that I have to get vaccinated and the other one was some statistics on our regions and how many people have been Recovered from Covid and died from Covid and there's eight regions. So this is an eighth of I worked for us station wild. I took eight of us fish and wildlife there has been nationally and to, um Yeah. Okay, so there's well no, not nationally in one region, so 18. Um, there has been 602 cases. That have been completed and wonder. One day I would thank God. But you're talking about one death in your region, which is 1/8 of the nation. Yes. Oh, praise God, I mean cases. Yeah. So how does that Naomi in any way, shape or form justify mandating you to put a medicine which I happen to like, by the way to put a medicine into your body. I don't know. And my reason my personal reason for not getting the vaccine is the ridiculousness of it. And you're just talking about the decisiveness or the, um, divisiveness part? There's a whole demographic of people like me that are not getting this vaccine because they're being forced to right. Exactly exactly. And he doesn't get that because the left just doesn't understand freedom and people's commitment to freedom because their whole ideology is dependent upon state control. Yeah, in the entire department of the interior number for our region and again native the nation Department of the Interior 37 deaths and over 3764 cases, and that's just completed. Those aren't the active cases. But that's a little less than 1% of death By Naomi Thank you that is so valuable, and it's consistent with what we're seeing in so many places, starting with the kiddos. Thank God the number of Children dying of Covid is well below seasonal flu. So what's polish? What are all these Biden All these other health people you know, acting as political creatures. Now they can require the kids to stay in masks forever. Well, if they can set the bar here with covid at this low death rate, they can apply it to lots of different things. 8554058255 more. What more do you need to see? We've made vaccinations free, safe and convenient. The vaccine is FDA approval over 200 million Americans have gotten at least one shot Cuban peixian, but our patience is wearing thin. Oh, my God. You know? Yeah. Can you imagine an American president saying that to people who are simply making their own decision as to whether to put a medicine into their body? And when he says, what more do you need to see? Well, First of all, what reasonable person would take anything he has to say at face value, right? So Oh, I Joe Biden. I'm telling you, this vaccine is safe. Go take it. I mean, you'd have to be out of your mind to put any stock in anything he had to say. But what more do you have to see? Listen, I got the vaccine. I've been vaccinated twice and back in April and depth barely even knew I had it. I had covid. So I've got natural antibodies. My whole family's been vaccinated. I really like the vaccine. But how can any honest person Look in the eyes of person who has chosen not to get the vaccine and say that's unreasonable when it just hasn't been around that long. So so the answer to Biden obviously is. What more do I have to see? I've got to see some more time pass and see how it does over time. That's a reasonable concern. People can have somebody else can say Well, I know the risks are really, really, really low, which they are from what we know now with the vaccine, but they can say I'm in such a low risk category and I'm not around people in a high risk category, So it's not even worth the low risk to me, and I'm not trying to make arguments against the vaccine. Selfishly, I'd like to see every adult American vaccinated as a vaccinated person myself, but to suggest that reasonable people Cannot decide against the vaccine is completely ignorant, and it's very disrespectful. It's abusive of those people and their freedom and the refusal has cost all of us. So please do the right thing. What? What a word I cannot say on air. And I've never said that about another American president, but that's what he is. Unless again it is dementia. If what we're seeing today is somebody in the throes of dementia well, the Nets the cause, and I don't judge him personally. But if that's not dementia, He's just the worst person ever hold the office, the meanest that the most angry the most disrespectful Boy Ryan you talk about dividing He is trying to turn. I mean, in a very active way, like on a street level way he is trying to turn the vaccinated against the unvaccinated 100%. We already here late night talk show hosts, not even really joking. Jimmy Kimmel about we should not treat the unvaccinated. They come in and have covid and not grant them a hospital bed in the ICU. We've already had that rhetoric and he's ratcheting this up, and he's furthering that divide and he's fueling the fires, and he's trying to distract from this historic Monumental. Awful, fatal catastrophe in Afghanistan because, remember, we're having women beaten in the streets shot in the streets. You know, it's just a nightmare. What's going on in Afghanistan, and part of this is to distract from that game plan lines are full. Here's the deal. I have if you're new to the show, Thank.

"US up everybody we are back again after a long what seemed like a long time off three weeks three weeks since we did a grip wild men who matter podcast and we are so glad to be back took some time off to get some things done some big stuff coming down the pipe for you guys but before we dive into that I want. I want to introduce the Oh Brando. WHAT'S UP DUDE. What's up man. I'm so glad to be back back in the chair back behind the microphone. It's been a couple of weeks. We've been GONNA run around crazy yeah. We have interest if you guys remember when we left us about three weeks ago we were on our way to Colorado for a long weekend fly fish in the I mean in the mountains guys. I mean like ten thousand feet off in the Wilderness holderness. It was crazy saul some stuff that and I've traveled a lot and but I saw some stuff I'd never seen before and just how amazing God's creation isnges isn't just how Mu- how vast the mountains of Colorado the rocky mountains are man it was it was really cool and and in a while we were out there. We weren't just out there fishing when we were. We were filming a story that that we hoped show you guys in the coming time nine but it was us man dude. Let me just say this. Everybody everybody is gifted. It's something we all have around talents. We all have our own abilities. You know better at some things than others not as good at some things as others and I just got to say my man. Stevo Oh jumped in a creek in the middle of nowhere and caught a fish on his first cast because the man has got a gift for the fish I cast is fly fishing remote creek homestate creek in Colorado dare you to Google it and find it because is out there and you jump in man and I cast boom. I got one that was epic. it definitely was a cool feeling just knowing that you know honestly it was kind of a little head nod from God because going into the trip is excited excited as I was man. Just you know I was kind of going through a little funk just just just from just challenges in my life and I was needing some time to step away and just take a deep breath and you don't even though it really a silly as it sounds. Even though it was a working trip I did have a chance just to get out there and get where I feel. Most close close to God is when I'm in not only the outdoors but in extreme outdoors like the wilderness kind of outdoors and men I I just wanted to get there and get my hands in the water because you think about just how pure that water is coming out of the mountains. There's nothing to have contaminated at yet. There's nothing to have manipulated it yet. It was just pure water and I just wanted to get my hands in the water and and and ultimately just catching a fish on the very first cast. I and I'm not a five fishermen yet. Is I mean it was it was a learning experience for me and quickly falling in love with it but it was such a really cool to yes. Ask catch a fish on my very first cast and and just kind of get a little affirmation that hey I'm here. You Know God you're saying. Hey I'm here with you. I'm I'm glad you came cool moments. Just out there I mean we drove five hundred miles in three days. Just we probably fish what five or six different rivers some of the best you know quote unquote gold medal trout streams you know are available and it was just cool to see the change we we fished meadows. We fished in uh up in up in the canyons. I mean Kenyans on both sides canyon walls and we saw variety of things we we met some cool people and we we stopped for lunch one day in Walden Colorado ARADO behind Google that one seeing find it. It's up there is up there. There was this little girl out on the corner selling lemonade with your grandma uh and and I just kind of walked over said what are we doing here and she had a poster out and and it was just crazy because it's downtown in this little com main street area and wind was blowing and it was like fifty degrees was amazing and she had this sign and it said you know trying to raise money for space camp and she had his NASA acid t shirt on and here we are a bunch of boys a bunch of rednecks from Alabama up in the middle of Nowhere Colorado and here's this ten year old girl she wants to come to Alabama you you know and it was just as cool kind of like of all the places and all the people we met a little girl who wants to come to Alabama to go to space camp you know so we got to share what we were doing and account bought some lemonade from her. You know try to try to get into space camp. It was just it was it was another cool like you said a little head nod little fist-bump yeah. Just you know cool cool things happening. Oh really cool to see that and experience that and so you know our biggest encouragement to you guys you know I think we shared this last time for we cut out for a couple of weeks was yeah we went to Colorado in its quote unquote epic big trip but I wanNA encourage. You guys to would go somewhere like to just do it. it's very possible very feasible and it doesn't have to be halfway across the country but let honestly if you're smart a flight to. Colorado is really not that expensive so just get out and go just go somewhere and get away an experience that closeness and if you're listening whether you're bought into the whole God thing or not or you're you know you're really Dagan the journey that you're on with with with Christ or not. I promise you wherever you're adding your life. You'll get out into the wilderness. Whether you're an outdoorsman win or not. There's something about it. There's something about what goes on out there and find your place and get their and I think it had changed your life and so may when we left there we we quickly change years and you know we dove dove into knocking out this man smog cridland that you've heard US talk about that. Were so excited to launch. you now this week really a really anytime the cool thing about the way we're doing is you can dive in at any point and so we're. GonNa talk a little bit about that today yeah but mainly mainly what I wanted to dig into today brandon is out there kind of out in Colorado I I vividly remembered this one moment and then I kinda came back here and we we did all that stuff and and then I experienced against something similar to it that that made me think about this idea that we talk talk about they wanna mean is so after Colorado in small group curriculum in these lots awesome things happening we also kinda finished a our our biggest months that we've ever had in the feed company that kind of parallels allows group wild and I got to thinking about how I how how exciting it was and this thought that came to my head is exciting not because of the number but really because of the people that I got to do with and I made this comment that that a half five is the greatest thing that you could ever experience in your live and it sounds silly at first but but think about like a high I five is one of the greatest things you could ever experienced in your life because what entails a high five. It's it's you celebrating something with someone else and it made me think about my past of my career and it made me think about Colorado like Colorado was awesome but it was it was so much more more remarkable and I think impactful because I can vividly remember the half fives after just about what every fish that was caught. There was always a half five in this excitement in this of men together. We're experiencing this and it it goes back to singing about my career in business and you know have this shelf of all the products had developed in all products that have kind of gone the big box stores wars and and and they're there to help me remind me of the little wins. I have in my career saw stay focused but honestly that day that had this half. Hi Five means everything I looked at that wall and I was like who cares I literally said who cares out loud to all of those products developed because does when I look back at that point in my career I did. 'em All alone like I didn't have a team of guys that were chasing this vision that I'm chasing now that was that was trying to achieve something for the greater good that we're trying to achieve now back then man yeah. Had you know God who worked for me who Labour's but I didn't have any team members. Goss who were sharing the vision to me and I looked at that shelf and I was like who care I mean half those products isn't shelf have been in Walmart. They've been in major box stores and as I who cares and the reason I said that is because I I didn't have a high five during that season of my life and it wasn't that I wanted a high five of of like good job. Stephen is I didn't have anybody to share those memories stories with right. I look at those. Even you guys you guys walk into the office every day and you really don't have a perspective of what those things in my life and how hard I work to get them and what paint I had to go through and what successes I experience because you like no no none of you guys were there and it doesn't matter to to me away and so I thought about that the trip of why the Colorado trip was so important and why like this month's goals are so much more fulfilling than ever before and it had nothing to do with what we were doing it was that I was doing it with someone and and that's when that that statement hit me that man one of the greatest things in literally one of the greatest things in life can be a half five because you're doing doing it with. Someone and that's what we want to encourage you guys with. Today is where your high fives are. Do you have have high fives in your life and what you're tackling right now. Think about it. I mean we Kinda talk this out the other day just thinking about how it becomes real when you fish for a long time tournament fish and a lot of times fishing on the bow by yourself you snag nine pounder you turn around in the back of the boat load. There's nobody there yeah I mean for me jumped into my mind. No exaggeration probably the best three rounds of golf five ever played score wise whereas shot the best number I've ever shot by myself and that present some issues right because hey it kind of sucks when there's nobody there to celebrate when you make the PUTT and be nobody's GonNa believe you. You know like shout eighty four today. Okay prove it you know and this whole mentality. This idea that like men were working hard. You're getting after something chasing a dream chasing a a goal chasing something you're passionate about but when you get the win along the way who's who's next to you know sharing that with you celebrate with. I mean I I love that. You said that fish analogies the biggest fish I've ever caught in Florida hairs. Chena lakes practices for tournament intimate by myself. There was nobody in the boat with me. The the biggest fish ever caught my life like no one there to say. There was no high five that that day there was a awesome all right but her back into water he knows it so I mean think about it. Guys think about the moments in your live where you achieve something that you were chasing her. You experience something net..

"Is the guitar that is dire straits. And very interim music for our next subject, which is the really pernicious oil and gas Bill we've had a couple of interviews on this. We talked with a number of people who understand that the effect of this legislation could almost be worse than the oil and gas proposal that was put before voters this last election. Of course, those voters me included voted it down and the legislature. We didn't really care what the voters. Thanks. So we're going to do our own thing. And they've put a very pernicious Bill forward and kudos to the GOP for delaying that Bill just a little bit not much. But you know, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And that is required. The reading of two thousand page Bill that was it was like another Bill was not very it was not a controversial Bill, but they had them read it justifies some time and just to give a sense of. Hey, guys. Why are we rushing this oil and gas Bill when it's bad news? We've heard from other when other folks on this other interviews talking about how this oil and gas Bill could not could will cause oil and gas workers to lose their jobs. It will take a giant bite out of the economy because oil and gas extraction is one of the engines of our economy, it will make schools lose out because they get these severance taxes. And Finally, I would say it's bad for the environment because it doesn't affect coal and fifty five percent of our energy comes from coal, which is much dirtier fuel. And so by cutting off oil and gas, particularly natural gas. It is actually worse for the environment. Speaking of the environment, one of my favorite environmental lawyers can't singer. He is the founding partner of of Holzinger law LLC and the past he served as director for water at Colorado's department of natural resources. Ken, welcome to the show. To you. I appreciate this piece that she wrote the Colorado sun along with Laura cartridge. She is the founding partner of cartridge law LLC, and she was once the deputy attorney general for natural resources under attorney-general, Cynthia Kauffman. Both of you have abundant experience in environmental law, and you point out in this piece that one of the things that lawmakers may not have anticipated is that this law will also affect water in the state. It's most precious commodity. That's right, Krista. What what oftentimes is easy to forget. Is that our water supplies come from snow melts? And what we do is capture that snow melts in the springtime, and we can serve that water. Use it later in the season when his rivers dwindled away, and and many of them are actually ran dry, historically. So to do that, it takes infrastructure and without that infrastructure. We wouldn't have the benefits of your culture we do in Colorado today, we wouldn't have the recreational flows. We wouldn't have the municipal supplies. I've I've seen some of this infrastructure up close and personal. I went underwater tour some years ago, and we have this network of dams. We also pump water over the mountains to bring it over here on the eastern slope where we don't have a lot of water. Most of the. Waters on the western side. And all of these things require money to make and money to keep up. How will that infrastructure be affected? If there is less oil and gas drilling here in Colorado. Well, severance taxes from oil and gas or absolutely huge when it comes to the state budget, and in particular, they fund the among other things the construction loan program through the Colorado water conservation board, which really and Nabil's communities municipalities water districts around the state to update their infrastructure to develop new infrastructure in the light. It also provides funding for threatened and endangered species. Land reclamation and grants to local governments as well. And that's about six hundred million dollars of severance taxes, and Laura my taxes that are contributing to these projects and that those taxes could just evaporate if oil and gas is seriously reduced. That's absolutely, right. And one of the other things that would be significantly impacted. I believe Laura I on this as well is the Colorado water plan governor Hickenlooper initiated that effort to create a plan and a passport were in large part because there is a huge gap between supply and demand when it comes to call water, and we need to figure out a way to fill that gap. While also accounting for environmental purposes, and recreational needs around the state and the water plan to implement measures to help do that. But that's gonna take a lot of finances talking right now with Kent Holzinger, he is an environ environmental lawyer and also the manager at Holzinger law LLC. So I mean, I I think what what it's frustrating to me is that lawmakers don't seem to get that without. Out oil and gas extraction in this state that we will have fewer funds for education fewer funds for Colorado water projects. And so they what I'm sure they think they're helping the environment, and they're helping kids they're actually in in many respects hurting kids by reducing oil and gas extraction. We have less money for schools and less money for not just water projects. But also those species that rely on having water in the streams and in the reservoirs. Absolutely, right. You know as Colorado's population continues to grow our scarce, water resources are more important than ever. And if we don't take care of these issues here and now thirsty downstream stage, play, California and Vada in Arizona will take care of it. For us on the sad thing is we've already started to make some headway in terms of restoring the the environment and bringing back species like the links and black footed ferret as you point out in your piece aquatic species like the greenback cutthroat, these are sort of icon ick western creatures, and yet we could see a rollback of some of these efforts. If we have less money for water and also less money for Colorado's species conservation trust fund. I I assume that you and your your. Partner on this particular piece, Laura cartridge at communicated this to Colorado lawmakers why is it falling on deaf ears? Well, that's a great question. Everything I've heard about this legislation. It's on a fast track. The sponsors don't seem to care about inputs like this. And I can't say in all the years that I've been involved in these issues that I've ever seen anything like that. It's a power play. And I think it's going to come back to haunt them. I also think it can you know, there were a number a lot of folks that contributed to the anti one twelve effort, and that was a voter referendum or voter turnout the referendum, but he a a ballot proposal that was put before the voters that would have seriously curtailed oil and gas extraction. This state, maybe not as bad as this Bill, but it was pretty bad and a lot of folks put money and time into opposing it, including folks on the left, and I think they thought that they could elect Democrats and stop that that ballot initiative. And they would be fine. I think they might just learn from this to say that if you believe in business, if you believe in schools, if you believe in watering conservation, you cannot vote for Democrats they're going to turn around and vote for something like this. Well, that's a great point proposition. One twelve was soundly defeated by the voters just four months ago. And here we are in the early days of this Colorado general assembly, and this measure that I believe is much more dramatic than the initiative on the ballot is on a fast track through the legislature. It's like they they paid no attention to what actually happened during the election. But I certainly do hope that those folks that thought they could but against the ballot initiative, and then vote for Democrats learn their lesson that when it comes to stuff like this, those Democrats cannot be trusted. It's it's sad to think that this should be a partisan issue. Energy development is such a benefit for Colorado. Not only for all the reasons that we spoke about for for some of the things that you and your prior guests said spoken about to American energy independence is something. We should be celebrating. We have the best technology. We have the toughest environmental laws this workers in the world. And we're responsibly producing this incredible resource in our own backyard with environmental impacts that are a fraction of what they were just decade ago. So is it's really disappointing to see such an effort taking targets on this at all. It is absolutely frustrating at an in the end, it could mean as you said less water infrastructure at species will take an impact impact, obviously oil and gas workers will take an impact on this. And so will so we'll schools. Which also rely on these severance taxes can't Holzinger singer. I appreciate this piece of to put out. It's all my public public Facebook page. It's also on my Twitter account. I think we need to keep we need to keep a drum beep drumbeat going about why this Bill is so bad. And maybe just maybe lawmakers will hear us. Well, thanks so much crista. And appreciate you getting a word out. Thanks so much can and have a great day. Little backstory in Kenton. I so we both served with with congressman Bob Schaffer back when we were both in our twenties when we were young we serve in the same office. And he's he's a terrific guy. He he he's just he's just a great guy, and he was doing environmental policy. I was doing education policy in that office. And he ended up coming back to Colorado opening up his own law firm, he's from Walden Colorado, and I'm from Littleton, Colorado. So it's just a nice connection. And he's just one more way. This Bill is bad news. And that is that we rely on this taxes to build up. These water projects to help with species conservation to help with schools also natural gas a much cleaner form of energy than coal. This Bill will not affect coal, but it will affect natural gas is all around a bad Bill, and you know, unfortunately, it's being rammed through Denver. Republicans bought a little bit of extra time today when they. They did a parliamentary maneuvers that require the reading of two thousand pages. But Democrats didn't even read the two thousand pages they had a computer do it, and so sort of computer aided reading that is I guess they decided they couldn't they couldn't take a couple of days off. And reevaluate what's in these bills? They had to use a computer at high speed to read through a Bill so that they could get back to the business of just storing oil and gas extraction in this state, bad news, bad news. And I am hoping that this this backfires not only at the ballot box. But I I just know that they were groups out there, maybe was like chambers of commerce types, not I'm not saying was the chamber of commerce, but business people who said, yeah, I can vote for Democrats because I I don't like Trump, and I want to send a message, but I'll I'll vote against these tax increases in this hit an oil and gas and thought that we'll just be fine now. We're not we're not going to be fine. And you don't have to like Trump. You can you could still vote for Republicans. And and if you vote for Democrats thinking, they'll be moderate, they'll be fine. They will not be moderate, and they will not be fine. Look at what they've tried to jam through this session.
