"Parked no problem. And then you had to do the inform ATC and do the incident report. And it's a bunch of paperwork involved. And it's just kind of pissed me off because it's no, it's no game, you know? You can really hurt someone. We pilots rely obviously on our vision. And you can really hurt someone. You know, physically and their livelihoods and the safety of the aircraft. So just don't do stuff. Exactly. So, yeah. So other than that, lay over in Maui was nice with short. Went over and picked me up. I showed you guys my jalapeno mouth beer. You need to try it. It's very nice. It's really really good stuff. Waikiki, but it's in Maui. Yeah, my Waikiki Waikiki brewing company in Maui. It's funny because and Waikiki I've looked for this place. Because the Maui brewing company in Honolulu brewing companies right there, which is you guys switch places. They're a little confused. Yeah. So did that flew back. 5 hours coming back here to Ontario this morning. Beautiful weather. Nice tailwind coming back nicely. Moonlit night. So it was a pretty pretty flight coming in. And then landed first thing in the morning. It was great. Apparently the controller that was having a little bit of a couple issues there with separation because we were on the down when coming in here. And the guy goes maintain 250 knots to a lot further notice. Because I can see the airport right there. It was my FO's leg. And he knows what he's doing. But I figured it's going to be interesting. But just let him do what he had to plan them to do because that's how you learn. You got it, buddy. So controller up for a fail on this one. So he kept it a little high on the profile, which.

"Uber lifts or scheduling like a black car. We'd shows to pre schedule an uber. We like set the time for them to come pick us up. We also picked a slightly bigger uber. Because we had luggage. I think it may be ended up being sixty dollars or something like that to get from alani to the airport in the nicer level of an uber but you could have gotten if few booked the base level uber for. I think thirty or forty. If you stay in any of the resorts in choline they have a lounge at the airports. If you get there early you can go to the choline lounge and set and there's light refreshments and comfy chairs places to charge your phones. We did not do that because the lounge has open to eleven. Am right now because of coveted. Instead we ate at the literal only restaurant that was open for breakfast. It was something to do with golf. Pga pga restaurant or pga tour restaurant and your favorite and nothing like ending a trip on that note and then we went to our flight. We actually saw someone from tridents who ran up and was like hey. I'm so glad you know that you're alive right now. I was like thank you and they're like you literally looked sicker than i've ever seen. Anyone can get to know. Because i felt sicker but i never felt but that was like a small world sort of thing and we got on our flight. We flew southwest because they were the only affordable options at this time or the most affordable option and you can check bags for no additional fees. That was that was the end. It ended with You know as all trips do an End on an airline is always just the worst part of it trip. 'cause no matter what unless you're like i first class with light you know. A big comfy base airline travel is just not the most exciting way to end trip so we had five hour flight. We watched movies. We ate snacks and we got back to la pretty late. I wanna say it was. Maybe like nine o'clock at night by the time we got back to. La it's kinda like ed getting on the airplane after crews his long slog after having so much fun. I'd be remiss if we didn't ask chris your coffee person seated. You finally get coffee place in the islands or anything that you'd recommend. We only had starbucks because starbucks. We do have. They have a reserve store in waikiki. So it was like nicer starbucks but because we were so excited to try like local coffee shops each day so we went to different like four or five star rated coffee shops. There was a place called chi coffee. That has a really good macadamia nuts syrup. I in fact. I bought a bottle of it..
Wet Notes - 9-13-21
"This is wet notes here on scuba shock radio from monday september thirteenth. Two thousand twenty one first up today is in another idea for diving with a purpose in one of the most recent newsletters from the coral restoration foundation the coral chronicles. There was a report that cr f. is teaming up with the atlantis. Dive resort in douma getty to offer a unique opportunity to participate in a week long program at the result in helping them build and maintain the largest coral nursery endowing. Actually the town where. Atlantis is located. The program is being sponsored by the coral restoration foundation. The loveland living planet aquarium and the meat foundation. The program runs from september twenty fourth to october. First two thousand twenty two there are planned educational sessions on coral ecology along with restoration efforts and techniques. You also conduct restoration. Dives along with some fun dies. This sounds really fascinating. One of the pictures into newsletter showed the table coral at apo island. I vividly remember that area when we dove air in two thousand nineteen there wasn't any pricing available in the article and you'll have to contact the hotel directly if you have the time and desire to dive with a purpose check out this program and market on your calendar. Long time ago. Donna and i lived in hawaii that was in the mid nineteen eighties. At that time we got to experience. What was probably one of the first while in walls in honolulu. If you're not familiar with wilem walls you can check them out. The wall was a large mural of the humpback whale on the side of a building near waikiki. It was quite impressive. Well it might not be a while and wall but if you happen to be near brant rock in mansfield massachusetts you can catch a the view of a mural of a large shark painted on the side of an old restaurant according to wicked local dot com. The mural was painted by a local artist. Shane leonard. Shane was a former football player at boston college. Who has a passion for painting and a passion for sharks. Now the muros on the side of the former arthur and patch restaurant that closed back in two thousand fifteen. The shark faces divers as they head down ocean street which is a one way street. So you can't miss it say. Shane says he likes the way shark. Show emotion. the photo is pretty impressive. there's no guarantee that the building won't be torn down. Now that is unoccupied but according to shane. Even if it doesn't survive it was worth doing so if you happen to be near mansfield mass check out the shark mural on ocean street about a month ago. Patio wear foundation announced their fourth annual aware week. Now this year it will run from september. Eighteenth through september twenty six two thousand and twenty one the whole idea behind aware week is to empower the global dive community to lead or take part in conservation activities in courses focused on local action for global impact in the past aware has focused on two elements marine debris and vulnerable marine species this year in concert with patties blueprint for ocean action. They're adding three more components. Climate change marine protected areas and coral reefs. Some of the ways. That dive shops can participate or by conducting aware classes like dive against debris coral conservation or the aware specialty. Also like us. You can become a one hundred percent aware dive centre where you provide a monthly contribution in support of the patty certifications you award. We are very proud to be one hundred percent aware. But here's something that. Patty aware foundation needs to work on. We need more notice as to win. Aware week is happening. I wasn't sure what was happening this year and our calendar filled up and we weren't able to get things scheduled as i mentioned at the top of the show. We've already created are twenty twenty two calendar and it would be nice to know when aware week twenty twenty two is happening. I also mentioned at the top to show that the re photo contest results were in and that i didn't win while scuba diving magazine. Magazine's two thousand and twenty one through the lens contest is also complete. The winners were recently released at scuba diving. Dot com and the photos will be revealed in september october special photo issue. They received one thousand seven hundred and nineteen photos from around the world. The contest categories included behavior compact camera macro and wide angle. The entries were judged on beauty originality and unique encounters. I check them out and they are spectacular. I only wish. I had the talent impatience to do that kind of work. Now if you wanna get a jump onto twenty twenty two contests they will start accepting entries january third two thousand twenty two and you can submit your photos through may thirty first two thousand and twenty two and finally we recently received our two thousand twenty two aqualung buyer's guide along with information on all the new products coming down from aqualung apex. So i thought. I'd give you a little preview on what's on the horizon. I from aqualung. They are releasing a new regulator the helix pro and the helix it looks like the helix pro is a mid range regular and i think it's replacing their core. It is a balanced first and second stage in his environmentally sealed with four low pressure ports and two high pressure ports. It was built for cold water and has the automatic closure device or a cd. lower end. helix is not environmentally sealed. And it doesn't have a cd and it's designed for warmer water. Also coming out in two thousand and twenty two is their new. Aqua fluck aqua flex men and aqua flex woman wetsuits. I think it's a redesign of their tried and true. Aqua flex line they also have a two millimeter. Free flex wetsuit now. The i one hundred computers going to come in a new color yellow and speaking of colors. They've added a number of different colors to various products including something called sand petrol red and orange as for eight packs. They also have a new regulator the xl four osha and it is billed as a totally sustainable regulator bay from post consumer waste it comes in grey or mint with some great etching. On the first stage. I suspect it's just like the xl four plus being an overbalanced diaphragm regulator with two hp and four l. p. ports. It looks pretty. Sharp and apex is releasing a new dive computer to the sx. It will be program can program up to six gases and monitor six transmitters. The has a titanium basil making it lightweight endurable but also has a color display. There's something more that require. Some more research It says it has in oh to analyze or onboard. But no to sell gotta check that out a little bit. There's a lot more out there and over time. I'll give you more updates from both aqualung and apex. Well that wraps up wet notes. Here on scuba shock. Radio for monday september thirteenth. Two thousand twenty one

"Even in twelve days. There was some stuff that we thought we might do that. We just didn't get to because there's just so much culture so many things experience so many beautiful beaches don't limit yourself. Alani is kind of like the crown jewel definitely of one of those trips but There is so much out there to do for families for just couples. Whatever look around and find some cool stuff to do on the island. Yeah i think. I way to do it like how you guys did it to. You know you spent the busy time while. You're down in waikiki. Going to so many different places and then you could just really enjoy your time at alani and just kind of slow down. And i think we do the same way too busy for a slowdown second. And then just enjoy that that. What eight hour plane ride back to. Louisiana's was kind of cool though to split up. Because you know people always say you need a vacation from your vacation and that was almost like what we did like. We had a really busy six days and then we got a vacation from vacation so it was. That was really nice. That's why you always do the parks. I renew on on on the crew but yeah then we had to settle in for that that long travel back but you know it was worth. It was worth the long travel just to get there and experience. That bo chris. You're going to be there in three weeks. Any final questions have of christie. Before you guys out there in your experience i guess my my like sort of big concern has just been. I know alana's really really at capacity right now is gonna be fun is gonna be so crowded that we just don't feel like we get to relax and do anything and i think i'm getting the sense from you that it didn't feel like so crowded that you couldn't relax but i'm looking for reassurance. No i mean it was definitely coming from a time when people weren't going anywhere and not doing anything to this environment where there were a lot of people..

"We did hulu cafe a couple of times Like we got a pizza from their one night to bring back up to the room but mostly we cooked and there was some places you could go across the street so they have monkey pod. They had pizza corner. Like you said roy's they had a few places within driving distance but if you wanted to go to alani and just eat on site it would be very expensive so you do have to kinda keep that in mind because it's definitely not cheap to eat at their restaurants for the whole time that you're there so we planned ahead to cook in our room. Have breakfast in our room most mornings too stable a bit of money that way your groceries delivered or you bun them. We went shopping. Yeah we went to target which was much better walmart. I will say we. We were frustrated that walmart it was. We went to the waikiki. And it was a nightmare. They were out of almost everything so he ended up going to target to get most stuff which was much much easier to navigate. Just like burbank. But we did do the luau. Which was it was really nice. It was really fun. It was all evening and the food was good. The entertainment was great. And what i liked about it was that they do have like a big stage but then they also have smaller ones kind of set. Up through the outdoor luau area. You always kind of have one of the performers right in front of you so you can see kind of what was going on. Really cool did you. Or the kids. Try the poi-. I had tried it before and i was not a fan sided. Did not try it this time and my kids. There is no way. I was getting underneath that. They did not during covert. It's not a buffet. A buffet brought everything out in like little bench o. Boxes so we got like an appetizer tray first and then we got our entrees and then they brought out a trio of desserts and the kids was kind of the same. They got like a little fruit cup for an appetizer. Then they got their meal and then they got a special little moana desert moana. The kids enjoy the loud. Because it's it's it's a really cool story and our kids loved it so you're be there. They did enjoy it. I think i felt like they paid more attention to this one than the one of the polynesian cultural center. I felt like it held their attention a little bit more. Yeah we really enjoyed at. The dancing was really nice and the story was really good and then of course you know you get a little surprise visitor. So that was that was fun. The one of the cultural center is a big. Indoor theater called.

"You just feel like you're in a totally different place like i felt like we had just left like just like new orleans like the big city and we made it to this gorgeous little tropical hideaway area and it was wonderful. The check in process went very smooth. I think we got there at about lunchtime and our room was ready kind of early. Maybe like one thirty so we went straight to the pool and spent the afternoon there and the kids. I mean just couldn't get enough of the water slides and the lazy river and they loved them. Innovate bridge play area. So we just jumped right in to just hang by the pool kind of relax for a few days type of vacation. The hot tip that i've learned So we're only staying in for two nights because we're not. Dvd members and it is expensive alani costs for tonight's alani it's costing more like two and a half times almost three times as much as five nights in a hotel in waikiki. So it's very expensive right now to go on without dc but the hot tip that we learned was that you could show up at like eight in the morning. Check into your room. Which won't be ready but van. They'll give you a access to all the amenities enders locker rooms and showers and changing rooms. So you can just like basically have a resort day where you don't have your room yet but at least you're making the most of this really expensive fairly going on so that that's hot but we learned and it sounds like maybe you got there before. Your room was probably ready to right. Yes so we got. We kinda had to like. Check out by ten from our first resort. But we you know we knew check in a little bit later at alami but we still went over and did the actual you know at the front desk part because you do have to show your safe travels information and all that when you check in so we knew we had to go to the desk but then yeah they told us you know. Just make yourselves at home everywhere else on the property and so we look through the gift shop and then they do have. They do have large bathrooms right next to the pool area. So we just had. We had our bathing suits kind of an extra low backpack and we left our stuff with Bell services and went and changed right there and just just got right to the the fun part of enjoying it. Sounds like a disney cruise line to have your bathing suit on other stuff at spill little backpack. You could still do fun stuff while you're waiting for your room. Yes for sure. Wait wait packed. Oliver stuff strategically so we'd have everything in cases except are you know a swimsuit sunscreen. That kind of stuff so we were ready to go. So let's turn your room. You guys had a one bedroom one bedroom time. It comes with kitchen and the thing that i really appreciate his. You also have a washer dryer in there. Doing doing all those pooled as and everything like that. What would you talk to the room. The room was gorgeous. It was we haven't had too many stays to compare it to yet just because like i said we're kind of newer to the dvd front but absolutely beautiful. The rooms were really spacious. Living room was really large. I felt like we had plenty of space for the four of us for the six nights. A bathroom was huge. That was one major difference. Also besides just the kitchen between the wyndham and alani was. The bathroom was enormous at windham. Everything was kinda all crammed in so we had rooms for bathing suits to hang and swim shoes at all those items that just kinda stack up and towels and all that so..

"Okay and i. I'm trying to think is why may have valley where they have that like buddhist temple. No now that one's kinda down like in the corner like over from waikiki likes to the west. I guess that is over my connie oei so it's just connie always. So if if you go riddick. Basically due east of waikiki. You're gonna run into that and why valleys up on the north shore and you have to pay to do that hike. The other two are free but you do have to pay to get into their right correct. So i may have. Allie was probably the most expensive. Because it's not just a hike. I guess it's the botanical garden so it was twenty dollars for adults and twelve dollars for kids and right now i mean this may not hold up for much longer but they were doing free entry. Four leg healthcare providers and first responders so actually just had to bring my badge from work so i got in for free and there was a small charge for diamond head. I think it was five dollars a person that's existed national park rights. But which which is. But it's not it's not too much. That was easy and we just want the tickets. When we got there so the i may have allie was a little bit more expensive. I don't know if we would have done it. If i wouldn't have been able to get into because that is kind of expensive just for a couple of hours firm. Mainly of four but waterfall was really nice. It was an easy kind of incline up. You know there's lots to look at. You know on the way and you can get in the waterfall and spam. They have life jackets and changing rooms and see can actually swim in there. Which was pretty cool. Wow i didn't realize that the they did that. The guidebook that that i've been reading scares you to get into like freshwater streams because they are like bacteria lives in freshwater. You can die if you swim in it..

"One of the funniest things in the book is it says rental cars awhile who are cheaper than almost anywhere else in the country and i was like. That's a pre pandemic statement right now. That was probably one of our biggest worries after cova testing. You know and getting all uploaded to make sure that we could get there. Just people saying that there was such a big car shortage and the prices as people started booking the prices when we're going sky high and it definitely pre pandemic statement. Yeah that you cannot say that right now right. Yeah we ended up booking our trips through christie and she knows travel agent trick says she was like. I can save you about four hundred dollars on your rental car. You book it this way however the way that we did it as we picked up with we will pick up the rental car at the terminal. But then we'll drop off at alani. 'cause we don't plan to leave alani and then we'll just take a uber something back to the airport. But it's i think we would have liked to have the car every night. But it's like we could save quite a bit of money just by only renting a car you know. Can you give a sort of an overview of what your trip entailed so when you got there i know you split your trip between wyndham where you own points and alani but sort of what was sort of your overview or your vision for the trip so our game plan was we. Could we had enough points to get a one bedroom at each location for six nights. So that's why we decided to do. We went for twelve nights total so we did six nights at windham six nights at alani and are really tried to make sure that all of the activities we wanted to do. I tried to plan as much as i could for those first six days when we were in waikiki. Just because i knew the resort area was nice but it wasn't like alani where we'd want to stay in hang out at the pool and the beach and those kinds of things so we figured we could get more of our stuff done those first six days in waikiki. And then by the time we got alani we could have plenty of time to just relax and enjoy the amenities. They're of course. Everything wasn't open. But i mean even just after doing all of that stuff being able to relax for a few days was really nice. It was almost like two vacations so Like i said there was really only one thing. I couldn't fit in so we did end up leaving alani for pretty much an entire day we were gone but otherwise we had a good solid four days that we were able to just hang around at the pool after our check in day and then one day being away. We had about a good four days to spend their relax. That sounds nice. Okay so being in waikiki. What was your plan there. Kristie as far as some of the things that you wanted to do. And what did you think of waikiki overall..

"Bradley. I've got Dan Waikiki, a writer for the Times. I've got a podcast episode 1 79 The Jim Rohn Podcast with Minnesota Head football coach P. J. Flag That's coming up later on today and right now, as promised, we're joined by a former USC long snapper first completely blind Division one college football player. He was a Pac 12 special teams Player of the week in 2017, a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award. 2016 uplifting athletes where Disease Champion award recipient he is an inspirational speaker. He is the co founder and president of engaged and we have lots get caught up on Jake Olson is my guest. Jake. It's good to have you back on. How are you think? You know, It was quite the intro. I appreciate that. You got it, Jake. You weren't it, my man. So you and I spoke back in 2017 right after you made history and major college debut and USCs win over western Michigan so that everybody can fully appreciate what you're working on right now. Jake, can you take me back to that game? What do you remember most about it? Remember being really hot right first game in September's any California Southern California person will know it gets real hot in August in September, and so It was super hot, and I remember Coach Helton was was telling me I was probably again in the second quarter. Um, and then that game which is kind of wild game, And so it really was this roller coaster of okay, I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm not and then You know it happened to come on off of a pick six. Which was funny enough. Any specialist you know, Punter kicker? Well, it's not punter but kicker holder and long snapper. We like to stay warm on the sideline. We'd like to get warmed up and we like to know he offences driving. Let's get warmed up there calling me a field goal RPG coming up. Well, that's not the case when there's you know, Hunt, return or kickoff returner or defensive touchdown. So literally the defensive touch and I was like, Oh, man, at least This just came out of nowhere now, so it was like one of the last things I wanted to actually happened, But it was all right. It was. It was an awesome often game. And what a moment Jake Olson joining us. It was an amazing moment. And I think as many people know you have been a USC fan for years and connected to the program going way back so as a refresher. What did it mean to you to finally make your debut for the Trojans? I think that's one or more special. I guess pieces of it. Jim is that again as a 12 year old, how was adopted by coach Carroll in the U. S U team in the U. S B program and Really after that called Game day peace all the sports nation in college football nation. And so it was really special that people were able to support me. Then pray for me, Then you know, give out their their love and support. Then watch me grow up. And then here I was, You know, the 18 year old coming to us. You know, I was like, Oh, I remember that guy. I greeted him on like Encouraged him back then and then to see me. You don't have my career at USC and finally get that day and the Coliseum. I think it was just a pinnacle of all of our emotions of watching again. Me go blind and then Overcome blindness and start living a normal life again and get back into sports. And just the culmination of all that, I think was really special for me, and for everyone in that stadium and for everyone again, who's been following my story all along Jake Olson joining us so the story was so inspiring, there was an avalanche of attention. What were the next few days and weeks like for you after that game? Well, it was really crazy. I had to do this really crazy podcast that this guy named Jim or I'm not right. Wow. But no, it was. It was. It was fun. I mean, it was. It was obviously a lot of interviews. Again because of the stories that coming up in the past. You know, I've Made friends with people in the media. So you know, just Kind of good talking to people again doing interviews and you know, obviously, from a request standpoint of speaking and appearances that obviously increased, and that's where we kind of came up with this idea of engaged as a platform where people could Find a central weight of one. Contact me because I'm sure as you know to shin like when people try to contact you can come from left field right field anywhere, So it's like, how can people contact us where we know the person reach announced number one legit and honest. Into that, you know they they both for me, and them can know that you know who they're reaching out to is legitimate and me, So that's what we really want to create and then have a central place where we, you know, manage those requests and keep those requests and can look back on those requests and Again. There really wasn't a software platform and anything out there that allowed us to really do that. So that's where the idea of engaged kind of came about Jake. Also my guest I want to follow up on that You are the co founder and president of engaged But before I follow you up on that I want to ask you like you have been doing public speaking before you arrived at USC. So what were the rules for you as it related to amateurism and the ability to profit off of your story, then? Yeah, so actually because of actually USC basketball player back in the day called Lil Romeo. There is called a double life rule in the N C. Double a guidelines and that basically says if you were famous for something unrelated to, obviously, you know, sports or college and your college sport of choice or any college sport. Really, Um, if you're famous before then, and you could continue to profit off of you know that endeavor and so for little Romeo. He was a rapper. So again playing college basketball had nothing to do with his rap career, so therefore he could continue to get paid to wrap and etcetera. So for me that was public speaking, you know, I spoke about, you know, not only cancer about playing golf about, um, you know, overcoming blindness, all that kind of good stuff. And so by the time I was playing college football Could continue to speak on those topics. Now there is a fine line between one Being marketed as a USC long snapper, USC called football player called Football player in general. They cannot do that. It cannot show up on a brochure. They cannot advertise that nothing of that sort and to you know, I couldn't hike up my race. Right and Alston charge double or triple the price because of my newfound, you know, popularity in college football. So those were the two kind of caveat to that. But again, the double life clause did allow me to continue to speak. Appear because of what I was doing beforehand. Jake Olson joining us It's really interesting, right? So what about your teammates at that time? What were your teammates able to do in terms of telling their stories and generating revenue off of them? Well, that's the thing, nothing because a lot of guys didn't have the opportunity to do that before they got to college. So if you don't you know if you don't have a real set standard of you going speaking, sharing your story receiving revenue of doing that, you know you can't start in college because then they would just assume that all the only reason you're starting is because your newfound popularity as a culture football player. And so that's what really frustrated me is that you know a lot of these guys. You know my teenage man they've They've come from hard backgrounds. They've lost parents. They've grown up in in broken homes and come from nothing and supporting people. And you know, there's a lot of inspiration out there and for you know that, you know it's awesome. I get to go share my story and shake hands with these individuals should be allowed to as well. Um and that's where I kind of was really, you know, really look at these rules and say, you know, the really necessary in that.
Who is Miles Morales in Marvel's Spider-Man?
"Games that release this week. I've been playing is spiderman. miles morales. which is the sequel to two thousand seventeen spiderman by sony and insomnia and i have to say this is miles morales story and you'll know miles morales. If you're not coming read from the movie into the spite of us which is excellent right. It might be the best. I've got the best buy movie you know. Even though it's an animated movie just fun. I think really good portrayal of spiderman it's waikiki and there's all these different spiderman anyway. This is miles morelli story and it starts with pizza parker. It's spiderman he's just. He's training miles to be also spiderman. He's not been training for very long and pizza us to leave new york city for awhile with. Mj don't know what he's doing. Yes to leave. Andy leaves miles in charge of the city s spiderman. So it's it's got this new the story and the way the people in the city react to you is kind of funny because it's like. Oh you're that spiderman a we were expecting the spider-man's zone so the city hasn't really they don't really see you as spiderman so you the new kid and the shoes and like you can do your as good as pizza. You've got the same power if not more powers because miles different power but the people in the say and not really that into him so yes to kind of win the city over and then you know early on in the game the city you know. It's very typical marvel as a. Let's say or mark zuckerberg type reruns this big tech company. And he's doing something we try and take everybody over. Somehow the miles gets about moving safe the city so it's the same game. Play really is a two thousand seventeen one you. It's the same city you know because it wouldn't be spied him on if it wasn't new york city right and if spiderman was swinging around london just wouldn't seem right to me so it could mean another universe but it needs to be in the same city right. This is the same. this is just the same. The same city was different about the map. Though is it's christmas time so it snowing and there are christmas decorations all over the city. So it's really decked-out to like christmas which looks a lot different to the spiderman game twenty seventeen which was in midsummer like right in the middle of summer so it looks different on that level but the game plays exactly the same so if you liked the game play. Is that gameplay. You know you go in. The city's missions in it. Though further the story this collectibles you can collect to spiderman and suits to collect his lows different suits that he can wear. One of. The sues is one of the coolest things i've ever seen in a game. And i was just saying to use it You know the s by into despite of us cartoons remember they animation style it it was kind of choppy but it made it what it was like because it was cool looking suit when you put it on. It makes the game the animation style so the whole game is choppy looking book. Cool looking. Because it's i don't even know how they did. They've done it like it feels like the whole of the city is running at sixty frames per second but the animation of spiderman is running way less and it's also kind of jerky but it looks like it around great be able to. It looks like it came straight out without cartoon you'll like. Yeah i can see what they're doing. It's it's weird to look at but it is cool. Because i was like. Oh the soup from into despite of us let me put that on and see what that's like and then i'm like oh now. The game looks like that animation. That's crazy so that spider man. Miles morales is out on the ps. Four and the ps five.
Lockdown in Honolulu
"Don Wallace is on the line from Honolulu. He tells US authorities they're put in a new set of restrictions because of a recent surge in Cova cases on Oahu justice they were hoping they could start reopening. It's crucial tourism industry. Don's a contributing editor at Honolulu magazine and he's updated us on Hawaii tourism in the past and done you're you're out there about twenty five, hundred miles away from anywhere else in the middle of the Pacific. Hawaii depends so much on tourism and I would imagine it's been quite a stressful time with the coronavirus continuing to spread. What's it like in Hawaii right now. Well the whiny started out as soon as thirty thousand tourists stopped coming way did very well on the virus were the lowest in the nation for states. Now we've had a spike starting at the fourth of July and August it began to get up to two hundred cases a day. I know that doesn't sound like much but. you don't have that many hospital facilities. That, we had to do a banning perks, beaches hiking trails and gatherings over ten So is the response and the impact of the corona virus different from different islands. who gets most of it in fact, it's almost miniscule on now big island, the ninety MILICI, those islands, the people can pretty much go cleese they. You wear masks you're allowed to fly into a walk who without according to you. But people who can't find their without of quarantine. What about people in the tourism industry? Are they impatient or they realizing that haste makes waste when it comes to getting over the so they can start making money again. It's a very interesting case people very concerned. There's no voice irresponsibly pushing for white opener light opening deal like Texas, did for instance. And I think that's because the workers sixty seventy percent of the are. No a minimum wage workers they don't have good health plans. They carry the burden of this, and the other part is the Theresa Stop Coming. Can Americans from the mainland fly into Hawaiian vacation if they want to yeah, you can come We get about three thousand a day. And I think the hitch there is you do a fourteen day quarantine and you check into your hotel and you can't leave your hotel room. The impact on tourism would be you're probably wondering around the beaches thinking this is like it was back in the old days. You're very much in nineteen threes, Hawaii. Waikiki is a ghost town. That's not entirely a bad thing We think tasteful Hawaii empty beaches, very clean water clean here you feel like being caress be hanging out with the beach boys. Old School Beach Boys. And if you do go out to dinner, for instance, you may have the restaurant to yourself just one or two people. Magic. So That's interesting. I mean, of course the you've lost the revenue, but you've regained your beaches as far as the locals go there was something in the news and I think you wrote about it about gun toting extremists who are wearing Hawaii shirts. It doesn't seem like the Aloha spirit to me what's Really thought it. Up in the news, there's one of these Gun Group extremists start showing up at the black lives, matter protests and other places. Instead of what they weren't Loescher it's Kinda create a sort of scary dissidence. Then people here reacted really strongly. Ensured is about Aloha Aloha is welcoming. It's inclusive. And it's actually something. I wrote an article about how Hawaiian shirts fight extremism. Hungary magazines. It's a love story about two sisters from Portland. Hawaii's eighteen twenty. Married South Asian immigrants helped create yellow her shirt industry. It's a beautiful beautiful story and it's that Louis Spirit that sort of loved that easygoing nece that caring for others. What a what a dissonance by these? What do they call? Boo Goo Boo Voice Blue Boys. Okay. Well I hope you have to handle and then we can read about that in your article and then very quickly what's open now if you are in Hawaii, museums, clubs, restaurants what's The dishes and Him after limited reopening had to close again. We hooked to get them back up in a couple of weeks neither good their little outdoor cafes and restaurants they've shifted to putting cafe tables out on the sidewalks and even the streets in some cases. So Madonna. Of Lua. And you know, thankfully, why is a very outdoor culture? So eating outdoors is. No big concession. So that lends itself to social distancing done. It's so great to have you on. We'll talk again soon I hope everything goes well with Hawaii and tourism, and your work there done Wallace's a contributing editor at Honolulu magazine. He's written the French house about buying a fixer upper on the island and Brittany and he's written articles about what's going on. In Hawaii these days
