"Uh good after give hey bro rats the podcast four degenerates by degenerates. It is todd McCullough's. That's not I I'm. I'm Tony Dick's. That's who speaking to my right is todd mccombs. That's me I'm speaking my way left. A lot of hours left is guppy guppy. How are we buddy good? How are we doing boys? Awesome saved ourselves. Yesterday was look. Hey Nice sort of a lot of randolph on the action APP where Talknet do yep there and then we ended up five three and one could have been six three and one the yankees raise got rained out so that's gets pushed to today a little fun fact there. I'm still go with the Yankees and Diego Bingo. Herman Not Diego stupid stupid a little off today. I told toddler before we came in here. I had a national chicken sandwich yesterday. Apparently they marinated in helping juices just for twenty four hours before eight it. I know that after eight it boys the stomach in butthole having a rough morning not that you guys needed to know that the gut funk so you gotta work out in this morning though yeah yeah you know what you came into town you inspire out you hawk inspired me. I've taken inspiration <hes> straight to the straight to the trip to the Dome Doing Summer Bod Ready by about mid October Yip. I figured <hes> I have to be in shape football season. Okay that makes sense <hes> because once football season starts they slippery slope downhill my it is there's not a lot of good doering. Football's can't get you eat salad while you're watching a football game lot of beers a lot of pizza and guess what there's football on Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday. That's almost it's almost as early do so college football now. I don't know I noticed fifty yesterday to N._F._l.. And College starts like a week before so probably not thirty if I were to guess over under thirty July August eighteenth does not is not win College Football College football the true opening weekend of college football is Labor Day weekend <hes> last year and I think this year again. There's always a game like the week before in Australia <hes> but I don't know if that's happening again. I probably should know that as the host of the show brought we'll be ready for it though that's all me can good nice and trampoline machine. It's good to get lead right before you put it all. I heard it's really good for your body if you lose thirty pounds and then gained eight thirty pounds every single year through the right side we do how many N._F._l.. Games are we're going to do on Fridays. What do you mean like how many we gonNA pick all right one? I don't know fucking sixteen. I love them beautiful. I'm okay we'll do our best pets <hes> and then you have some leads in the news some games where you're staying away. I'm we'll probably talk about all sixty if I if I guess if you're GonNa lay off of one you're probably going to want to say why yeah exactly yeah I mean I'm sure the schedule will change a little bit in the fall with probably I assume so <hes> but you know I mean we're GonNa talk about every single game because there's people who want information on every single game for sure it's N._F._l.. What are we talking Gobi Gobi? Let's go why just kind of question all right the right side last night Arizona. I five who's pick was that he ended up. It was mine easy win fourteen to three after five Diego. I five minutes the half who's pick raise your hand yeah that implants Andrey's nice w they're almost almost a no no paddock is back. He's back Oakland Note. Did you know they got Paddock for Fernando Rodney years ago from the Marlins hilarious thing about the Marlins if they had let's just off the top of my head not enough research to do a complete thing but if they had paddock and they had gene Kernen for all right be Fernandez Giancarlo Stanton our friend with brewers who for some reason his name is slipping me yell at thank you Christian Yelich I mean that's a solid start to team to solve their `instead. Jeeter came down sold everyone to the Yankees destroyed the entire franchise in here. We are <unk> feeders Oakland. I five mine is the half raise your hand boy todd good w there thanks in Colorado. I think this is you gumby. I five push push. That's fine. We'll take pushes. Some idiot took the under thirteen and a half in Colorado and San Francisco. They scored twenty runs in the game. That's hand up that one was. Is On me monster game played in the air. Blame there on that little very fucking. They're fucking Fin Cincinnati. I five plus a half. I think a few of us were on that one <music>. I'M GONNA save still on the right because if it was today I make that exact same bat again and that's on the right side isn't about it was only to well. I was only to Atlanta I five if money's the half they were down to well. That's okay <hes> Saint Louis six five congrats Dodd. Thanks Buddy you want even I gave ships. Sorry sorry about your your buckles that happens <hes> not a great start post all-star break but they'll be back my reds. That's what did they do. Buck does battle <HES> and over ten medicine <hes> twins we got to eighteen runs their great for Tony All right Oh and the game that didn't happen got rained out or whatever <hes> like I said earlier the Yankees and raise <hes> <hes>. I'm a little worried. That got changed day game. I don't know how the pictures are GonNA react but I'm still doing with the eggs in that one <hes> but that leads us into our best bets for Ted Day Guppy. You know what your guest from Canada. Won't you lead us off for your best today. I'm going to hop on that Tampa Bay Yankees game as well but I'm going to do the under five and a half first game or second game first game. The starters aren't out for the second one unless you have the I do have Chuck Mino. Chucky chucky mourns going okay well. I'm GONNA hop on that if he's on the mouth of I five under ten out of thirteen times for Torino's Yankees. I five hundred seven straight games. Oh what did you get that little stat stat I five under in the first game of the double header in that game yes at five and a half in. I am going with the the Yankees I mean so there we are I mean that's we're just attacking that fucking game and you know what before we get into <hes> before we get into that any further <hes> we'll just. Let's talk about the second game real quick <hes> because I'm taking it. Nothing is my best back because I don't know who's going for the Yankees but I don't care <hes> the reason why I don't care is Tampa Bay rays have not been great at hitting so far <hes> post all-star break or not postal last month or so <hes> and Charlie Morton is on the mound for the race and has been absolutely fucking unbelievable this year eleven to it's got like a one point nine e._r.. A <hes> in July Hi June and July he's got a two point six on the entire season. Chuck Board Has Been Fuck. Sorry two point three on the entire season. Chucky morning has been absolutely ridiculous a win that game does come out. I can't pick it right now because it's not an on my thing either because the Yankees seven announced starter but when it does come out I think take the first five under just for that game gambling. Thank you you on the same page there Gubbay Yeah I any times Morton's on the mound. I'm Reid and he's got a rubber. Our vantage just slings it in their beautiful full. He's been good for so long. Great former pirate really good on the Astros when they won the World Series Years Will Yep Him Garrett call twelve thousand others. I love go down memory related on the <unk>. It's unbelievable mid. Hey come here. Get good in. We'll ship you to someone who can pay you. It's a and then we'll trade the farm for Archer fucking. Don't even bring all right. I taught your best Bedford Oakland Money Line Minnesota taking the dogs they are six one. The last seven starts by Mike Fires. He hasn't given up more than one earned run in a game since June Eleventh Mike Fires. I is on fire. Twins are one in four when Cao Gibson starts at home against a winning team. Take the Dulls Instead Double Double Stab Donald Damp twins are a little cold Gibson's been shit lately. He's a fucking farce. That was my word of the day dictionary the somewhere <hes> I anthony to Guilio for my best bet of the day I'm taking the Houston Astros minus one seventy. It's not too bad. It's the Astros that Wade Majlis on the mound Wade Mile. He's been absolutely very very very very good. <hes> <hes> it's it's Wade Mile. He's very very good for how much he's bounced around the League. He's been steadily good most of his career. Yes and he's going against the angels who or twenty third versus left-handed pitching so nice little match up there like that and then on the mound for the Los Angeles Angels. We have the Dark Knight Matt Harvey who in <hes> June had a nine point something your a he's really just hasn't he did have good start his last sounding but I don't. I actually makes me more confident because I don't think Harvey's putting back to back good starts together especially against Houston so Gimme Gimme. The Houston Astros there for my best bet is that what do you think what do you think happened to Harvey. I don't l. man he party will go see. Party drunk he was missing Shit. David Will David Wells spun a no hitter on Bender. I mean listen constitution. There's gamers. You can't yeah I mean I. I used to refer organization where a guy threw a no hitter on l._S._D.. So it's it's all about how you can in apparently Matt can't handle his <hes> okay. Those are best bets <hes> <hes>. How many other bets do you boys have each have three you got three? I got to more okay. I have to more as well so we'll start with todd. Go Buddy <hes> Saint Louis Cincinnati today. I'm taking the first five under five and a half runs. The reds are be the reds are D- safest. I five lender bet in the league. The first five undercover sixty point two percent of the time for the reds <hes> the game under his covered and tanner ORCs last four starts. He's on the hill that I Dakota Hudson. Let's and starts for the cards eight and four three point four eight. I know what you're saying pretty fucking good he is. That's why we're taking the under. He's also the reds are not going to score much. I don't know what's going to happen. When these two pitchers leave the game anybody know what's going to happen? Both in there and it's going to be a lot of scoring uncle gender generous uncle Tony's also on the under five and a half their tar cards got a lot of sneaky young arms all of a sudden to this year cards and reds ads twentieth and thirtieth versus pitching over the last month Tanner Rourke one point six E._R._A.. For Saint Louis on the season as you said to go since been good Buck Ken Android the only reason rooks last outing wasn't good there is a six hour fucking rain delay the guy sitting and the fuck of really fucking Fed dumpy. Yes sir go. I like the d-backs feedbacks getting plus half against the brewers thing against fucking Davies Davies on the mound one earned in his last three. I know love it wait. Who are you taking? Sorry sorry I'm on the brewers brewers run against the D backs up something we didn't. We don't hear Kyle. Davies went in a bit of a slump. I went off but good lately lately. I'm happy burned us a couple of times I five or six games. The year he was great and then we started betting obviously and then he fucking that story of our lives Todd Gimme net about the nationals money line versa braves raves the Washington national Washington The Washington nationals are studying Stephen Strasburg Lebanon four three point four six e._R._A.. He is not allowed a run in these last two starts while putting up twenty ks only three walks. Let's go now. He's won. His last two starts against the braves so it's bad news for them. I think in this game he's a beast on the road. You get sixty two two point eight nine e._R._A.. When he's not at home I know the braves are starting to Tehran a pretty good himself but I really liked the nationalist coming off like an embarrassing loss against Baltimore? I'm glad you brought up this game todd because I am also picking his game but I'm taking the under I five for reasons you just mentioned with Strasbourg. I two starts in July. Thirteen innings zero runs you as you said at the twenty strikeouts <hes> Atlanta is twenty first versus right handed pitching in the last month little little bonus there for Strasbourg <hes> Oleo Tehran Kay he had a five year engine so not great in May two point nine eight year and then now in July. He's he's sitting at one point. Four something in June was like something happened but he's back with his one point four E. R. A. In July with these marriage or something yeah you'd never know you never know so seems like holy as back and the nets are seventeenth versus renting a bitching so I mean solid sold middle road team but nothing right home about so I'm going with the under the first five for those reasons <hes> W everywhere I have one more. I'm on the giants in the mets syndergaard against Bumgarner. I'm taking bumgarner garner the giants I five run line there minus one five last. I saw they were even plus a half late last night. I didn't hop on it but the lines James moneyline run or money line story. That's only line there. Mice is one fifty nine of them but yeah your trust and Bumgarner Yeah Syndergaard hasn't been great all year and another thing if this line on the over under drops from four to three and a half I'm off and on the over as well. Let's say <hes> it's quite a the <hes> I've been following the lines and of course the games and of course they are in Finnair but the <hes> the giants been scoring some runs recently. They're on a chair. They won. What thirteen of the last sixteen games like one of the hottest honest offense is out there right now like dude? I am all over this to dumpy. I took San Francisco the money line for the the game syndergaards got an over forty are a I mean. We're Kinda just going off the name air this year. Yeah what what is a little bit <hes> why did worry a little bit when I don't even though I did take it <hes> the like the mets since July first or twenty six in the League verse left-handed pitching but I think if you look this up Tony I'm pretty sure that the giants are pretty shoddy against right handed pitching at home versus pitching at home it since July July Sensuali. I yeah okay so so the giants so I have no reasoning behind this but the mets put up a Shitload runs yesterday. Whatever team puts up that many rooms for whatever reason the next day they usually come out and can't score either? It doesn't even have to be since July first yeah. We'll just say are sorry the San Francisco giants at home <hes> versus right handed pitching since June sixteenth so month ish they're twenty ninth in the League Yeah Yeah So. Maybe the authors way to go here. I don't know but I I'm dismantle. The giants are hot right now. They're really swinging the bats wall so yeah because the mets well the mets <hes> versus lefties away in the same time period or thirteenth so but you know it's if we went off the numbers prison last week or so two weeks. The giants have been pretty fucking good <hes> all right so what sorry with the hot team Darfur sorry for even question. You're they're gonNA be. Where do you think Baumgartner ends up? I don't know now that they fucking started winning. They're going to trade him yeah. They came out yesterday and said they're still going to be so blurs. Okay well probably if I had to guess. Do the Yankees need another starter. I think he's going to the Astros coaches him and Berlin durins coal throwing smollet yeah. I would love to see that all right so that's their todd. You've another one I do not w good I'm good as anyone untouched that Tigers Indians game against Bauer scared scared me riding Boyd all year but I think he's starting to tail and it needs end-user Super Hot so if you had to go anywhere I'd go there but no all right so we got nine picks today. y'All should we get paid three and one yesterday actually let me let me check this here for you because we were staring down the Gondola Vo and seven and it just turned right on pretty bad long long games neil young nine innings slash thirty days forty eight thirty five and seven fifty eight percents per for plus six units pretty fucking good last several qods heart right now he's carrying us course last seven seven days fourteen seven three <hes> sixty seven percent plus five units five three and one yesterday plus a unit. You know it's just what we're doing here. Boys that says why people say this is the best bedding podcasts go it say it's spread the word I tell you I feel good about this. One and we're not even baseball betters baseball pretty much on the same page on all these bets <hes> watch tennis can hit. I only bet baseball opening day in playoffs here. We are fucking Middle July days summer. We we dig hard. Don't we go. We dig in their up since six A._M.. Crunching the numbers here launch watching a little open yeah. I'm on a tiger in that vastly. I don't know about his back. He's fine just a little wins on number one. I think he's okay. I think he's okay rory nut so much not so much all right nine teamer today cup of Coffee Day Parlor first game in this. We're going Tampa Bay rays that didn't make sense because as Lilly so stupid let me why don't you just let me I'm just going to say the Pixel we have kept nine of them number. One raise Yankees game one under five and a half from guppy raise Yankees. We're taking the Yankees game one minus one seventy <hes> the Oakland A.'s plus one ten todd. LET'S GO HOUSTON ASTROS MINUS one sixty five from walk the Saint Louis Cardinals I five under five and a half for Cincinnati reds. I think that's me Anton. I think it was a double Sta- that's a double stack. The Milwaukee brewers plus a half from company. Let's go go not not guppy company Washington nationals minus one thirty five. Let's God Washington nationals Atlanta Braves under five. I five from more into San Francisco giants modest one fifteen correct I five fifteen eighteen correct yup. You gotTA lock it up. MLB Trade Deadline: Zack Greinke, Yasiel Puig, Trevor Bauer Trades Save a Slow Deadline | The Ringer MLB Show
"Hey Kelly and welcome to the ringer podcast network up on our site. The ringer is breaking down the forty best singles and albums from nineteen ninety nine covering Britney spears the backstreet boys Mariah Carey tons more and to accompany that piece we filmed our staffers discussing what they agreed and disagreed with from the article and debated what should out of one you can read the piece on the Ring Dot Com and watch the video at youtube dot com slash the ringer previous smooch Os. This is the ringer M._l._B.. Show trade deadline special. I'm your host. Bring Your staff writer Michael Bowman and I'm joined by my two good friends and fellow or staff writer spend Lindbergh Ben Hello and sat cramp. Hello so we're all three of US getting together. In the immediate immediate aftermath of the trade we are still <hes> perusing the Internet to to see what the final return for some of these deals is <hes> but the big breaking breaking news it happened about fifteen minutes after the deadline is that the Houston astras <hes> who looked like they were shuffling around deckchairs <hes> have gone out and traded for Zach Cranky <hes> probably for my money. The best flurries moved at this deadline so zack your thoughts so <hes> one of my good friends is a big Astros Fan A. and Senate tax basically at four zero five four ten that was a very pleased text message and then immediately sent another one that was weight. I was just reacting <unk> based on Aaron. Sanchez what is happening because this trade broke late and <hes> the takeaway that I think we all had originally was not that many teams has made a big upgrades particularly the top contenders and then the breaking news came in and I think not only is grank a huge addition for the Astros rotation which could have a Houston other reliable arm but the fact that the Yankees and the red sox and the twins and the dodgers did not make big upgrades just makes this one even more transcendent yes this this totally changed since the tenure of this trade deadline and of this podcast fortunately for us. We have a lot to talk about now. I we were discussing in the wake of the deadline. Who was the best player traded and it was coming down to. I guess Stroman or Bauer neither of whom is really a star without questions at this point and now we have an answer a definitive adventure. I think sat cranky who is a true top of the rotation pitcher and now as being added to rotation with another couple of true top of the rotation pitchers church in Berlin during Kohl's so this is much like twenty seventeen when the esters at the waiver deadline acquired Orlando with seconds to spare another mid thirties ace now they've done it again. At the only deadline there is no waiver deadline anymore and so they struck a little earlier and that last time when they made that move if it was because they had been struggling as a team they had some injuries in the rotation dow chemical had been vocal about the team not doing anything on July thirty first and so they they were sort of pressured into doing it and now just as we thought that a lot of teams were just making depth moves that there weren't going to be any impact trades that a lot lot of the deals were being that were being made looked a lot like the deals that used to be made in August just teams shoring up roster spots adding third catchers and that kind of thing and now we have seen a team assemble. I think the best playoff series rotation of any team right now and as I said with some of the teams that the Astros here's our likeliest to match up with in those playoff series not making aggressive moves this is big and it also didn't cost them their two top prospects which is pretty pretty impressive that they could get cranky and not have to give up Tucker or Whitley although it costs them their three next best aspects. That's that's really interesting to be and I we know that the diamondbacks you're sending some money. I don't know how much exactly reported okay there. We go twenty four million dollars there Sunday. Okay okay so <unk> owed a portion of what thirty million dollars for the rest of this year and then thirty five each of the next to your according to Ken Rosenthal aw Houston will be assuming fifty three million dollars which for bat long of Cranky is actually that bad yeah yeah I mean in in this respect it really is very much like that for a winter trade word like they're they're allowing or they're getting the other team to pay down some of the contract and it's but they're still paying a decent amount and they managed to hit this nice bounce where the player doesn't cost that much and were they gave up. I I actually think the diamondbacks got a pretty good return <hes> but like you said they didn't give up their first two prospects. This is not the time where I would trade <hes> force Whitley just because of the weird season he's he's had. I don't think that you'd get full value for right now and you know corden. Martin's been her J.. B. casses had sort of an up and down year whether both really talented pitchers. I like a lot <hes> seth beer of course former Clemson slugger is going to sell a ton of jerseys for the diamondbacks when he comes up <hes> and I you know I think this is a solid return for an older expensive player and that matters probably more than it should in in modern baseball but the diamondbacks I think they did really well and they you know I liked. We'll talk about the the other trade they made <hes> if we have time at the end of the podcast but I think I think I think they had a really good deadline. You know they've really <hes> assembled a good and another thing I like about all these players not just the three big names that they got from the Astros but Zack Allen who they got for Miami. They can all contribute relatively soon so I think that they can get right back on the horse and get back in. You know perform similarly similarly next year two thousand twenty one down the road. I think they've they've had they've done some some pretty good business here. Yeah I think so too. Berlin during crankier kind of the exceptions as you were talking talking about this is a young players game very much in this era and yet for lender really hasn't declined at all. He's now thirty. Six grinky is thirty five. They've kind of done it. In different ways like ver- linders still a flame thrower and grinky has lost fastball speed. I mean he throws ninety now but he has just been so so good at command and mixing his pitches and pitching in an intelligent way that he really hasn't declined at all. I mean you know he's obviously not pitching at his cy young level level but relative to his other high level seasons. He's really right there so he's a lot of fun to watch. Obviously he is of course a very analytical. The Guy who has studied data numbers his whole career so like ver- Lindor may be going to the Astros will be a boon to him in that respect too. If there's any information when that he wants it will be at his disposal but even just as he is I mean when the astros acquired lender he had already sort of righted that ship and gotten past asked his slump and and maybe they made him a bit better but he was already great and that's true for Greg Yeah I I'm interested to see how he interacts with that Astros coaching in in an analytic staff because we see you know not just for later but Gareth Kohl's another <hes> smart pitcher who's really benefited for the Coaching Inn dated that they they have there and you know like you said grandkids more finesse pitcher at this point in his career so maybe I don't know if they have any sort of pitch usage or pitch pitch design insight for him that he'll be able to take advantage of that. He's not you know has already figured out himself but I think that's a it's a good place for him to go and obviously really. I feel like the Astros are world series favorites. I mean we didn't even talk about they. Just added Aaron Sanchez Jobe Jeannie at the deadline. They've made a couple other trades. Sanchez is I.. I Love Him as a Bilo a guy who probably work out of the bullpen in short term. Maybe return to the rotation later. Yeah I think Sanchez Sanchez if if they do put him in the pen which he's been struggling out of the rotation in Toronto but he's still got a good fastball. He's still got a good curve ball if they just kind of move him and specialize in those two pitches. I think he could be really effective. They also got Martinez Maldonado which he has. He's the second time traded this month but they were busy and not only the the minor moves like Sanchez which could be a significant one but Maldonado's more of a depth thing and they brought him in and got rid of Stasi Asi and that's just rearranging the deck chairs but cranky that is a major move and it's one that the other teams just really didn't keep pace with and they entered entered the deadline essentially with two holes <hes> another starting pitcher because after Berliner Collect Wade Majlis been quite good this year but they needed another one and to round out a four-man PLA rotation and they needed some bullpen help especially with Ryan Presley now hurt they could've used some stability at the back end and they accomplished both for those goals they had to needs and they killed them both and I think there are a lot of other teams <hes> at this deadline that were unable to do so so for the Astros Mission Accomplished Gosh all right. You guys have anything else sonus or do you want to move on. I'm ready to move on welby salivating over this rotation. I think for the rest of the season. It's GonNa be fun to watch this guys together so I I'm still salivating over the Trevor Bauer trade which happened last night as we record on Wednesday afternoon Zaki wrote about this just last night three way deal between the Indians the padres and <hes> Cincinnati reds the big game pieces of got moved Bauer goes from Cleveland and Cincinnati Cleveland Choirs Frame Milorad Slogan Allen and a couple of other <hes> prospects and tailored Hermel. The Star of the last two future Bruce Games goes from Cincinnati San Diego so this is a i. I love this trade just because of this is not a pro you know a strict prospects backs for <hes> for established are kind of trading every you know whenever a trade deviates from that I always find it fascinating. This one has just so many moving parts. I said Zach like I said you wrote about this. <hes> what is your obedient take from Cleveland's perspective this fits with something you and I talked about last week. which is the trades we I love our when a team deals from a an area of roster strength to fix an area roster weakness and Cleveland even without power still has shane beaver? Who's been incredible credible this year? They still off Mike Clovinger. They have Corey Kluber coming back from injury soon. They have like Danny Salazar as a wildcard coming back from injury Carlos Carrasco <hes> could come back at some one point this season so the rotation is still a relative strength for them but the outfield was the problem and they add puig bad riots race might not be an outfield there but he can fill fill the designated hetero which was also kinda vacant so that I think stands out to me. Most is what Cleveland was doing here because both Cincinnati and San Diego. No I think they're part of the trade is angling more toward next year and beyond whereas Cleveland almost solidified themselves as a contender a direct threat to the twins in the AL central for the next few months despite dealing. Maybe the best player in the deal yet. We talked about it on our podcast earlier this week. Make like how do you trade Bauer for and get better at the same time. That's not easy to do and I think Cleveland found a way to do it here. I was really impressed with with what they received. In return granted maybe be if they had been more aggressive over the previous offseason done anything to shore up their outfield. Maybe they wouldn't have had to make this move but finding themselves where they were. I think it's pretty unusual for a team to trade a player as good as Bauer and not have it be a <unk> selling move a white flag move this as <music> a win now move so it's unusual structure but in getting plea they get a good corner outfield bat who's kind of a rental but he's been hitting very well and in race serious not only do they get a really fun player but they get a really powerful player and I think a player who's probably better suited for the American league long-term so I think this it makes a Lotta Sense. Even putting aside clubhouse concerns about Bauer chucking baseball's over the fence. I think just in a pure baseball sense it's alcee to to trade someone as good or you know sometimes good as Bauer but given that Cooper is on the comeback trail that Salazar is almost back that clovinger is back. I guess they felt comfortable with the depths that they had where they could deal for a relative strength. Even if it's not quite the strength that it was in previous seasons and yeah that's that's about how I put it. I made them just to all three of his we'll. We'll have columns coming out in the next few hours <hes> but my winners and losers column I made Cleveland One of my big winners because like you said Ben. They really threaded the needle in a way that I didn't think they were going to be able to do when if when they did decide to to Trade Bauer <hes> <hes> I I find most of the players in this trade interesting on their own merits and then you put them all together and all three teams in the steel I think Cincinnati's taking the biggest riskier giving up trauma although he's an extremely risky prospect himself <hes> how exactly Bauer fits into their plans over the next year and a half will be interesting to see they do have options they could trade him this off season they could try to contended twenty twenty <hes> and or maybe do both at or maybe they can try to contend to twenty twenty doesn't work. They can move a mid next year on that's always an option. I know you mentioned bowers. Potential clubhouse concerns concerns. I do think it's notable that like Fran Miller as is the third best hang in this trade which Oh my God the who the like the Sitcom on potential attainment tweet together in Cleveland Vic Personalities Tra mel going going to San Diego could you imagine like the Sitcom potential with with him and Machado auto and Eric Hosmer and Totti's and Chris Paddock like this beezer really fun outsized personality that are getting moved around around and I think all of them are in except for maybe Bauer who would probably all things being equal preferred a play on a team. That's got a shot at making the playoffs this year by most of them are are in a better position for them. I this just makes you know this makes all three teams better in the long run I think and you know it's it's cool to you. See there's a lot of creative thinking going straight and that's without even getting into Logan Alan <hes> who's been on a couple of top one hundred lists and his friends with John Cena and and <hes> made his Major League debut Scott Moss former Florida lefty who's GonNa he's GonNa play in the big leagues at some point you know this is. There's just so many moving parts this trade. It's this is probably my favorite deal of the deadline. Are We sure that Cincinnati got better. I think they might have trammell as you said is a high-risk prospect. He struggled to to hit in his first exposure in AA this year but they're the reds are not going to contend for the playoffs this season so it's essentially one year for Bauer and and I'm not sure Bauer is as good as his reputation suggests he had one standout year and that was recent. Obviously it came last year but he's regressed the season he currently currently leads the major leagues in both walks and hit by pitches and some of that is because he's throwing so many innings but even his rate stats have regressed a d._R._A.. Which is baseball? prospectuses respect is's advanced D._R._A.. estimator basically pegues him as a league average arm and over a lot of innings which Bauer gives you that's valuable but I don't think he's an ace. He's had had one season as an ace and every other year he's been much closer to leak average than that that fits and Cincinnati's rotation which has Lewis Castio and sunny gray and maybe he improves <hes> <hes> like sunny graded going to Cincinnati this year but I don't think it's as sure a thing as bowers reputation might so I don't. I don't think it's a slam dunk either and I think Cincinnati is the team that took the greatest risk. <hes> you know you could look it at San Diego Getting Trammell <hes> who you know he could be a multiple time all star Dr but he could also hit one seventy and turned into just a pinch runner type <hes>. There's a lot if he if his bat was a sure thing he wouldn't be the thirtieth best the prospect of baseball or whatever he'd be top five <hes> so they're taking on a lot of risk but cincinnati is also dealing one risky player for another risky player so you know no. I think that this is it. Maybe it signifies a lack of faith internal <hes> to come up in and make good on that potential. Maybe they just think this is a good time. I'm de to cash in on that but I think it. I don't know I'm just sort of down on it. Was Bobby was making fun of me for being just down on prospects like I am a little bit afraid of the the risk in some of these cases and I think they bauer you at least snow you get and he's got the potential to you know we've seen this as as recently as last year so you know I don't think he's I think it's a steep price to pay for sure but I I you know he's the best player removed in in this trade. Yeah I don't know if you do get no what you get with Bauer. You could get almost anything with our from day to day or or season to season even but I think I agree that he's the best player in the trade. I think it's a continuation of Cincinnati's going for it mentality which they've employed since it's last offseason and it's worked in a way in that they've actually played pretty well and they've put together an effective pitching staff and they've outscored their opponents and net has not shown up in their record and that's unfortunate for them but you could imagine them being in a position to contend potentially next season and you know that you're only getting Bauer for that one year because he has stated pretty definitively that he is not going to sign an extension. He's going to go year to year as long as possible so i. I don't know I think there is some risk there. I think even on San Diego's side. I don't feel as positive about it as I do for Cleveland just because I I see why they had a surplus of outfielders and corner outfielders in particular and Hunter Renfro has really establish themselves and races sort of a defensive liability and so I see why you might want to move on the other hand that means you're trusting. Maybe we'll Myers and in a corner for the time being there isn't really a a set center fielder of the future Margot is still around there. He's kind of the only one of their current outfielders who's capable of playing that position and I guess you hoped that trauma will be that guy but he is mostly not playing senator in the minors and seems Y You might WanNa consolidate the excess that they had at certain positions there but I don't know that this necessarily ends that or tells US exactly who their center fielder in the future is if Tra mel is good and this Aa struggle is just a blip than I think it will work out for them but it all comes down to that were maybe he's the centerpiece of Noah syndergaard deal in the offseason could we that's the thing about the padres and the rents. Both these teams just have so many. I guess you can throw the Indians in there too like all. Three of these teams have so so many moving parts and and try to balance that <hes> that contend now versus versus build for the future so there's Cleveland I guess has has not taken on risk but there is substantial risk in yeah. I liked it. I liked teams that go for it and bet on their own coaching and development staffs and that's certainly what the <hes> with the padres are doing here. <hes> you know. I think the the reds are you know. It is a calculated risk. I think they have the best chance of looking really really stupid <hes> if five years down the line <hes> if this just completely blows up in their faces but that's that's what you gotta do. If you're going to try to build a a winner winner in Cincinnati all right the apart from the trade and the Bauer trade the definitive story line of this deadline is that not a whole lot happened that a couple of of relievers got traded. You know the nationals and the twins made some moves too short there bullpens so did the brewers I <hes> and apart from that. It's just it was just Kinda. Debt like the Yankees didn't really do anything the red sox traded for Andrew cash or and that's it <hes> the the phillies have made god-like was was Jason Vargas the best player they they acquired is they're trying to chase down the wildcard like that's <hes> that's <unk> damning with faint praise for sure <hes> the one team that really did push chips in the middle was the Atlanta braves who went out and acquired Mark Melanson and took on all of his contract act and went out and got Shane Green who with Ken Giles not moving while Smith not moving fully Bay Vasquez now moving our Ben I know you're you're down on him a little bit but a he might have been the best reliever to move at this deadline yeah well. I mean I think Greens era is somewhat misleading and the peripherals are now massive all eras in the one twenty years that's usually a safet but but he's an effective reliever and Melanson I think was kind of pegged with the reputation as a buster in overpay shortly after he signed with San Francisco but he's been pretty effective and I guess the braves aren't the only team to reshuffle their bullpen in that division because the nationals tried to rebuild their bullpen on the fly for the eighteenth time. This is not the first trade deadline when the nationals have just said well. We didn't like that bullpen. Let's try an entirely new. You wouldn't so they did that but I think the braves probably got the more secure late inning arms so I think that is something that they needed to do they. They didn't really have a lot of lockdown guys at the back of the bullpen and I don't know that milan-san or green is really like your fire balling you know flame throwing late inning arm arm that a lot of playoff teams will be running out there but I think it's it's an upgrade. It's a definite upgrade and they were willing to spend and take on some money which which is not always been a hallmark of liberty media and braves ownership so it's nice to see them go for it after aside from Donaldson not being very aggressive <unk> over the off season and they did that as a game was going on in which they led four to one heading into the eighth inning gave up a home run gave up two more runs in the ninth and ended up winning that game but it underscored the moves they needed to make. I don't think either Melanson or Shane Green necessarily certainly like makes them any more of a threat to defeat the dodgers for instance in a potential series but it gives them some <hes> it gives them and some fortification at the back end and at the very least it will help them over the next two months because it's not like the nationals or the phillies are completely out of it yet it <hes> a team like the dodgers which did not make any bullpen upgrades. They're already going to win the division so they had to judge. Is this going to improve in the playoffs. I still think the dodgers probably should have added an arm but they have less motivation to do so than Atlanta so good on the brace for getting that done yeah all the annoys coming out of the the dodgers. They were really in on Vasquez that I think they're like. Their bullpen was deep enough that they needed somebody like that that. I don't know of milan-san even if they did make it may trade with the giants <hes> just using me as an example. I don't know if he's if he really moves the needle. I don't know if he pitches high leverage playoff innings for the dodgers <hes> whereas the braves their Luke Jackson's their closer right now and <hes> or his said Spin. They're closer for <HES> for most of the season and that's just not good enough and I think that that's a that's an area where they had just a lot of okay to to good pitchers and <hes> and chain green. If nothing else is now the best he bumps. This is what we talk about every time we get the the team makes a trade for a reliever. It's the the guy who is maybe a little over. His head gets bumped down into a role that sees him better and I think that that's going to have a knock on effect. I don't think it I I think it absolutely does make the more dangerous to the dodgers. I just don't think it it <hes> you know nothing. I mean nothing short of trading for Mookie. Betts would have would have put them would have given them parody Herodian a potential with the dodgers but I this certainly helps and the other nationally teams didn't do all that much either. The cubs added casinos passed the deadline and I guess they traded Martine Maldonado whom they had traded for earlier this month. <hes> the brewers at a drew pomeranz and a kind of strange the deal the cardinals traded judge. Jerko and I don't think added anyone of note so really the thing we predicted that a lot of these is teams that aren't necessarily guaranteed to make the playoffs are sort of on the bubble in both division and the wildcard didn't make giant moves one way or the other other <hes> no giants. Pun intended because they actually were pretty active today but I think that went with what we predicted. That may be the reason. This deadline was so quiet as a lot of teams. I didn't necessarily know which direction they wanted to go. Let's talk about this because the giants they were actively traded Dyson milan-san. They added Scooter Jeanette but they held onto there two big free agents to be Bumgarner and will Smith ZAC. What do you make of that. I think it makes sense from their perspective kind of what we talked about <hes> in our preview on Monday that they had enough pitchers in their bullpen that they could sacrifice one or two of them recoup some prospect value and still try and make a push the season losing. Sam Dyson is not going to be the difference between contending this year not whereas losing bumgarner Smith might have been and Bumgarner. I believe said that the giants never even asked him saying. Oh we're close to trading you. Would you consider move to this team. <hes> so there were rumors all day today that they were open for business financially but it doesn't seem like anything came all that close so maybe it was a situation like the mets ended up in with Zack. Wheeler where they didn't trade him either and it could have been we'll trade you or will consider a trade if a team blows us over with prospects but we're not going to actively seek that <unk> out kind of fits with they're trying to straddle the line right now between adding prospects for the future even if they're not going to be necessarily difference makers and still still trying to take advantage of their position this year we should say before we get too far afield the the braves also added. Chris Martin from the Rangers traded former first rounder Colby <music> our to like a lot of a lot of guys moved at this deadline who <hes> are big names from the prospect world. Maybe their status is not what it once was but but that's a another move that's GonNa short their bullpen but ben got yet. It's hard to keep track of all. The minor moves that broke just in the last few minutes. The cubs traded Carl Edwards words junior to the padres. The dodgers did pick up Adam cleric from the raise. I guess that's their bullpen upgrade but that's not. I think what they're fence. Were hoping for so yeah I mean until the grinky trade I think we were all getting ready to analyze. What's the big takeaway would be from this deadline. What does it all mean and I thought we might have sort of a inactive deadline just because even though you had the consolidated trade deadline which you would expect to increase the number of moves made in July I you did have the strange standings where there are a lot of wildcard teams in it or at least close enough that they could convince themselves they were in it and you had a lot of division winners and top teams who were really sitting pretty and sort of had their super teams going where they didn't feel a ton of pressure to make moves so. I think those things probably contributed needed to some teams. Not being more aggressive amid fears the dodgers and you have a giant lead already than do you feel that pressure if you're the Yankees and you have a pretty. Eighty comfortable lead in the east at that point. You're just making moves for playoff series in. I'm not saying that you shouldn't do that but the impact is just limited added to a couple of short series and there's so much randomness associated with it as it is that when you're looking at prospects and trading way prospects and even though you're down down on prospects these days I think teams are pretty up on them and teams like not having to pay players who are productive for them. So I think given the way that contracts this work and aging tends to work in baseball these days it takes a lot to pry away top prospects from teams especially for summer rentals who are going to help you for a half a season and then the playoffs are even if they're under team control for a while so I think those things probably acted to suppress activity somewhat and if not for the cranky trade we would probably be having a different conversation about this deadline and what it all means but I would be interested to know you know in an alternate universe. I the giants never go on that incredible hot streak. What does their deadline look like in that world to even though the hot streak didn't meaningfully affect their playoff odds which so you know they're still extreme long shots if not they're not going to be adding scooter. Janette and you know maybe they're more likely to entertain the trades for Bumgarner will will smith so it's very possible that they might have been more active if things had played out differently over the last few weeks and whether that's a mistake or not. I don't know you know they're keeping being their fans happy and entertained and there's something to be said for having a watchable baseball team in August and September all right. Let's <hes> were. We're getting getting up to the half hour mark. We have to Algo. Go Right <hes> before we go. Let's go around the Horn and what's the whether it's a team that that you think did something. Particularly Clever were missed opportunity. What's like a standard thing that we haven't talked about yet and we'll start rid ben well. Have we mentioned the twins or the Red Red Sox yet. I don't think we have right. Did they do anything. I'm trying to sift through the Scott Got Romo in dyson. Yeah okay all right so that's something they did need some bullpen help but you know. I think what was a double digit lead in that division is obviously down to to the low single digits here and with Cleveland addressing one of their great weaknesses. I think there's not a whole lot of daylight between those teams right now and the twins were more aggressive <unk> over the winter so they've already made some of their moves and upgrades but I think you know their relative inactivity. <hes> I mean I don't know where I would have put the odds before the deadline of Cleveland catching up to the twins but that seems like close to an even race in a toss up and at that point so it's there's definitely a stark difference between the team. That's chasing going at making the big job one of the two biggest moves of the of the deadline and the team that sat in front it just Sorta twiddling their thumbs ray and then the Red Sox who are in the thick of the wild card race with Cleveland. I think Dave Dombrowski came out and said that not in having really a chance to win. The division played a big part in his decision not to do anything and that's understandable. I mean the payoff for a wild card. Win is significantly lower than it is for a division title and maybe if you're a team that's coming off of a world series win. Scrapping for a wildcard just doesn't sound like something something worth fighting for but having gone into this season not really making any bullpen moves and entering the season without any established weighed in and guys and having nat periodically be a problem throughout the first half of the season and then doing nothing to address that at the deadline that stands out even though the Yankees really didn't make any moves of of note either are you. I'm interested in what the raise dead the raise who are in the wild card race right now maybe the on the fringes of the American League East depending on what happens with the Yankees. The rays traded a lot of their relievers who are basically all fungible but given given how the raise utilize their bullpen. That's interesting to me. The raise also made a trade just at the buzzer which was immediately overshadowed by the <unk> deal but they traded with the marlins adding Trevor Richards who's starting pitcher with some upside Nick Anderson or a lever with the same and in that deal they traded hazy Sanchez whom mm Fan graphs shrinks is the number thirty five prospect so I think besides trammell and Jazz Chisel who was traded in kind of a prospect for prospect deal Sanchez was the best prospect traded at the deadline and that's really interesting given Tampa's position given that they don't typically trae their prospects. I wrote over are the off-season about how teams that trade top. Fifty prospects generally don't see those prospects pan out as well. Maybe they know something about them and know that they're not actually as good as their public. Ranking suggests that I wonder if there's something of that here where Sanchez who projects us a good hitter. He's an outfielder. Maybe the the raise no he's not actually as good an kind of taking advantage while they can getting someone from the marlins that might be an uncharitable Rita the situation but it's the marlins the raise making a trade and you make inferences about those front offices so I'm interested to see what happens with all the raise roster moves that happened on the fringes oranges today but could be meaningful going forward. They also got rid of Ryan Stanek the definitive. Oh yes and they got his Usak Aligarh. Who for much of deadline. I'm Dave was kind of like the leader in the clubhouse for most interesting named traded which didn't reflect well on the rest of the trades mid that day but he has been hitting well lately. Leeann hitting the ball harder so maybe they're hoping that they're getting a steal their aguilar also if you look at his underlying numbers alike on stat cast is basically hitting exactly as well as he did last season last season he over performed his expectation underlying numbers this series underperforming so if he can just scoop back up toward the middle well he'll give the raise a pretty good for space platoon yeah that's that's a position where they could definitely have stood to <hes> stood to add because. I don't know you know. Oh if what they had at first base was cutting it. This seems to be a decent deal. <hes> I am going to talk about that. <hes> that Chisholm for gallon deal that's probably my second favorite trade deadline. We don't see the prospect for prospect challenge trades <hes> even though gallon he turns twenty four next week and <hes> will will stop being a prospect when he makes his next start because I think he's at something like thirty six career innings pitched and he's GonNa lose his rookie eligibility but I- ah gallons been really good for the marlins he is he come over in the OSUNA trade. He was a cardinals draft picked originally but he's he's sort of a a nail mid rotation starter. Maybe there's a little bit more in there but the the floor is really high as opposed to Chisholm who could be a superstar but has also hitting two oh four or double A. Right now <hes> and could end up like there's a little bit of the the Taylor terminal. That's you know high ceiling low for them and so I I really like both. Both of these teams have have <hes> they've said I know something where I can do something that you don't and I think that's a level of confidence and like oppositional positional thinking for for a sport. That's become <hes> like there's been a lot of convergent thought and so. I've really liked this trade. This is is like trades like these are the most fun for me and the like. I said that's what I like about. The the three way deal happened last night but the gallon for chiseled trade is going to be interesting to watch down the it yeah aside from just the delight of gestures Oman. Everyone getting introduced to that name. I couldn't tell you who won this trade necessarily but I like if anyone knows it will take a long time to find out but yeah the sort of thing just doesn't happen all that often because teams are afraid that their prospects will pan out elsewhere aware and it will look bad for them that they gave up on them or they picked the wrong horse to back but I would like these things to happen more often because the needs obviously sleep matchup and it's a lot of risk aversion. I think that prevents them from happening. More often one reason Tibet on Zach Gallon. He's from gives New Jersey so so okay sure factor that in all right so I think that's everything we'll talk about this. I'm sure that I all all of the details of these traits will shake out by the next time we talk on Tuesday but a regularly scheduled programing will <hes> will resume next Tuesday <hes> and until then and watch the ringer dot com for all of our reactions and Collins will be writing about all this and more and and so on and so forth and and <hes> and forever and ever around then so thanks for joining me yet thank you thanks Bobby Wagner for producing today's episode. Thanks all of you for listening joy. The traits rates and we'll see you next time uh-huh.

I know you know I would prefer to say this. <hes> I've been around the block couple times now <hes> been at this <hes> National Law Television thing now for twenty four years and that amazing congratulations thank you so much as a matter of fact we we didn't even discuss that <hes> you know my she's sixteenth anniversary of my last sportscenter passed a couple of weeks ago. Oh and again the number of people that I just saw you know <hes> in New England that were saying to me. You know going back to Bristol later on this next week right or when I was at L._A._X.. L._A._X. Flying East to go you know visit my kids and camp for visiting day at L._A._X.. To people said to me were you in town for the espy's in town yes <hes> sixteen years of past I- i- instagram'd and tweeted out a photograph last Friday of me interviewing Sosa and McGuire at Fenway Park on the field prior to the Homerun Derby nineteen eighteen ninety-nine because it was the twenty year anniversary of the photograph being taken and people are still wondering if I'm on E._S._p._N.. Unbelievable that's at twenty years. It was twenty years ago Saturday that Pedro had had that allows to winning performance in the nineteen ninety nine all star game the crazy so reason why bring all this up as allies about joins us from M._l._B. Network because I've been around the block very n._F._l.. People very very competitive N._F._l.. Players are are the most competitive people I've been around. All I have met around Jordan. Were Tiger Woods very much. He was not happy to be the ninth raided <hes> pass rusher in madden whatsoever he does not we will post that video later on that his darn sure <hes> we also had <hes> Scott Miller bleacher report on last hour. He's got a piece out on how <hes> the electronic strike zone is being <hes> instituted in the Atlantic League right now and Major League baseball putting a ton of money in to see how it can work by having an umpire call balls and strike with an earbud in his ear and on an electronic voice telling him if it was a strike or a ball or no track that that whatever happened they couldn't tell and it's up to the umpire to do what an umpire's done for over one hundred years which is called balls and strikes with zone is a fascinating piece. It's in bleacher report right now <hes> but <hes> joining me <hes> to talk about <hes> all things things baseball including that remarkable night in Anaheim on Friday night it's one of our favorite people from the world a baseball M._l._B. Network featuring the dodgers and phillies tomorrow and the raise it Yankees on Thursday night m._l._b.. Network is the exclusive television home for the Baseball Hall of fame induction duchesne ceremony this Sunday at one thirty P._M.. Eastern live from cooperstown. The Great Allied are back on the program. How're you doing al hello rich doing well? It's been too long since I've heard your voice. <hes> before we get into all the the <hes> <hes> <hes> stuff from the hall of fame and everything going on <hes> from the second half of the season. I just want to give you the floor and what we saw in Anaheim in southern California Friday night with Tyler skaggs the on the eve of what would have been his twenty eighth birthday everybody wearing his forty five is mom throws a remarkable <hes> pitch for I <hes> I strike ceremonially a softball coach in southern California and and they score seven in the first and throw a combined no hitter i. I'm wondering if we're that ranks and stuff that you personally witnessed. There's a player broadcaster wow so <hes> seriously <hes> emotional to say the least the after the fact of all the numbers and the coincidental or not or some bigger power that we can explain of how it <hes> actually played out is beyond <hes> is beyond the belief that that's something wasn't else in in in in in the building <hes> you know I I see I mean you you you. You ask a you know. was there anything similar motion. I was doing some games for the Marlins a few years ago and I just so happen via through the network and Fox bought the Yes yes network etc and I was doing very few games and it turned out it was the end of the year the mets came in Miami and I had the mets series and you know the Jose Fernandez bowed accident I was there you know they cancel the game and I'm doing the the the game the next night and to think of that moment not to take away from tyler skies and what happened on Friday with the angels because it was amazing but Dee Gordon who hadn't had homerun in like two years leads off the game uses his bat uses uses helmet and and hits a home run and crying around the basis. You know I'm doing the game with rich wall like it's one of those you can't say a word to even remotely describe what the Heck just happened and here Dee Gordon. Jordan is playing the mariners for the game on Saturday against the angels. He's in the in the house all of the great tribute to honor Tyler Skaggs and you know the uniform number and all of then after you find out about his birthday in the last time it's no hitter and the com- combination and you know what trout hit the ball four hundred and fifty feet forty five etc etc the mom males strike as you say like wait a minute like how does this happen. I I don't know rich <hes> you know. I love to get to religion power being but you know I believe somebody's watching yeah I fully agree on the one who brought it up about a other other situations you might have seen it's interesting John Carlos Stanton upon the passing of Skaggs instagram'd out a message to the angels about how best to deal with the loss of teammate like this that you're gonNA walk through his locker and sees empty locker. You'RE GONNA walk when you walk through the Locker Room and how difficult that is and he brought doc because he he he lived through <hes> you know <hes> the experience of of losing teammate of Fernandez in particular with the with the Marlins I mean you really can't put any of the it's amazing how this works out in Baseball Esley. It's amazing amazing what an and the pace of it too rich as you know and I know you cover you know football and all the other respect of sports <hes> but the fact that there isn't a clock you can take as much as you want and you know really you know in this case you know <hes> honor them memorial of of you know tireless gags or whomever else I know you grew up Yankee Fan. I can visualize to this day when Lou Pinella was crying and Reggie Jackson the outfield and Bobby Mercer has amazing day but Thurman Thurman Munson you know like I couldn't imagine in season something is tragic as as what we're talking about and how to try to get through the rest of the year <hes> I remember as a little guy remember watching that and seeing the Munson uniform place to behind home plate <hes> yeah yeah I mean kind of you know. The hair raised on the back. Your net kind of stuff is amazing allied or M._l._b.. Network you're on the rich Eisen show. How great is troutman? How great is this going? He's he's one one of the greatest of all time and I know it's difficult to say stuff like that but I have no. I didn't starter he's one of the greatest I've ever seen Al Yes yes right and what's beautiful about this is in my opinion. He plays the game. I won't say right right because I don't wanNA open up like old school new school and all this other garbage that people might insinuate but he plays the game hard how about that he plays the game with great effort all the time and he is exceptional on both sides of the ball. He plays hard every a single time he gets out there. I DID A game a couple of years ago at the network and Mike Okay and the angels came in at Yankee Stadium and it was the third out of the inning fly ball the rightfielder Aaron judge is catching. It and I didn't bother to watch Aaron judge or the fly ball where it was going a little bit to the right of Aaron judge. I watched touched my trout and he busted out of the box. It's a fly ball rich. It's not a line drive. He busted out of the box and I'm watching them all the way and by the time Aaron judge caught the ball might trout was almost that second base. I'm not kidding you. I go on the boxer went back to John more and I said hey what we come out of this. Can we just show that like I just I can't celebrate that enough because that's what I appreciate and I think most fans appreciate allied are here on the rich Eisen show okay. Let's let's let's <hes>. Let's turn to the second half of the season here. I mean we. We've got a race in the N._F._l.. Central <hes> you know the as in the Indians are trying to make races out of the A._O.. Western A._l.. Central how how do you see the rest of the second half of the season going ally. I I find this intriguing greatly <hes> with respect to we have about two and a half weeks for the trade deadline. It's a hard deadline now. Because you know the waiver trade deadline for <hes> you know not having non waiver. I'm I'm looking at the teams rich and I count up of what I would consider sell sell ten of the thirty teams that is outstanding for Major League Baseball. You look down the wildcard. If you're you know north of San Francisco Francisco <hes> Pittsburgh I think is teetering right there at three and a half San Diego's three back Colorado game and a half Arizona game and a half Saint Louis Milwaukee pushing on <hes> Washington and Philadelphia that is great if you're in any one of those fan bases you have to be saying hey we're buyers. We're not selling <hes> that second. Wildcard has been fantastic. I do believe that I think you mentioned the as is a tremendous store. You look at both of the wildcard teams here. They're not the two hundred. A million dollar payroll teams contrary the as and what billy bean does and Tampa Bay year-in-year-out they know who to pick up they have a great algorithm with respect to their analytics and great scouts to bring in <hes> under undervalued players and here they are once again again <hes> playoff discussion or possibly playoffs Indians. I think was really intriguing and now they become a by team alone with the red sox. Of course they're gonNA stay it. I think taxes what John Daniels have done so overall. I'm excited forget about you know even after <hes> you know the down the stretch and September which of these teams actually believe that a player here or there is going to make the difference for them to be in the postseason and you know this and I know it you get in the postseason you have to hot pitchers and a couple of arms out of the bullpen yet you can you can you can get pretty deep in the playoffs and by the way for the N._F._l.. Wildcard right now with all due respect everybody else I you know I I kind of freeze it right now. Which is a Bryce Harper in Philly walking into Washington to try and play a one game or that would be what we talk about a crucible if something like that happy right but you also? Have you know within four games <hes> let's see within five Games Cincinnati San Francisco Pittsburgh Pittsburgh San Diego. I mean wow you coming in from the Cold Colorado. Arizona Saint Louis in Milwaukee. It really is lit the question I have for you. <hes> AL is is which team <hes> out of everybody needs has to has is to get that big arm pitcher I mean the red sox wanted to Kashmir off the board from Baltimore over the weekend. They struck early. Which team do you think needs to get that big arm to win the world series right now? That's a good question and I think the needs part would have varying degrees if you're telling me of the available start is let's go stroman or Zach wheel or a bumgarner or <hes> you know a map boyd from Detroit you any one of those guys barring that they're or not pitching like a four or five would be a welcome sight at any of the teams including the New York Yankees including <hes> the Houston Astros Astros are intriguing to me because of <hes> you know with Brad Peacock has gone down and Wade Majlis emerging right most recently we know it's Very Lander Garrett Cole but they're in need and here you know their first place by six games over Oakland they could use a starter <hes> the Yankees on one hundred percent convinced that they're going to go out and get somebody to really you know just make them even not much harder to beat <hes>. I do believe that the Yankees go onto the world series the way it is right now the Yankees I think we're going to go back to Nineteen eighty-one Seventy eight rich and see a Yankee dodgers world series a lot of course can happen but <hes> the dodgers to me are just too good into deep and the Yankees are just only GonNa get better. Can I get the seventy eight version out the eighty-one version all right don't mention that is twenty five win seasons. Oh my Gosh Louisiana lightning. Yes one of the best I ever seen period historian. What was the one hundred eighty pounds soaking wet to Al.? I was one seventy four well speaking of <hes> of of throwers here <hes> your son Jack Lighter committed to vanderbilt under built which is again a dirty word in my household right now with a college world series but that's okay why Michigan that's right now. That's okay. It's alright. It only happens with permission once every thirty five years. You know whatever it's it's okay but <hes> so your son was drafted by the Yankees. He's was there any chance of him saying yes to that. I don't know but I appreciated what <hes> they took a fly. They <hes> they took a flyer on Jack Louder just in case he might just come out. I want to play for the Yankees. Yeah listen it. It was very nice. I got drafted out of high school. I did sign with the Yankees <hes>. Do you know there was probably nine or ten teams from what my understanding was. They were GonNa you know do draft him right out of being part of his high school. You know life if you will Damon Oppenheimer who's the scouting director for the Yankees who I really like in his gentleman in his class. <hes> pick them on the twentieth. Pick <hes> listen. I vow this. This is what came down to rich as a father. I was able to separate money. It was a life decision for my son and I can tell you he was all in he wanted to go to college. He wants experience in every facet of what the college life is all about and <hes> he's. He's smart kid so I know there's risk <hes> but that's what my wife and I wanted and ultimately you know with Jack Making the decision. This is what he wanted. I know you cut back from your work and I do miss you call in Games on on yes to to to spend more time on this front. What's been like for you now so I didn't miss a game and it's been fantastic? <hes> the twelve years I spent the day I retired with the Yankees John Philip L._e._S.. Me To do games. I thought he was talking about the following season as an and less than two weeks I was doing a game Michael K and Jim Cots and there there I went with the network but it it was it was even though it was limited games rich just when you do a game and your schedule do games it's different than what I do at M._l._b.. Network because we have such a variety of shows and I can do early show etc and I didn't WanNa miss this in year so luckily and I'm grateful to to so many levels that I did miss any games I was able to watch all of it and rich. It was much better than any world series series performance that I did or any kind of stuff that I actually <hes> was able to do in the game to watch my kid and all of the you know exciting attention that was around his starts and yeah. You can't take this stuff back. No you know your parent like that matters and you're able to do it and I'm grateful for it. I didn't WANNA miss well. I mean that kind of kind of brings conversation full circle I mean life's short and and you got to focus on what's important in life and being there for for your kid if you can and you're lucky enough to be able to pull it off. Go forward and I'm I'm thrilled for you. You know how thank you thank you and have you spoken to Kaley. I won't work communicate with him because he's not talking right now because of his talking I told him to go. Stay in hospital extra days. He said he's going to be one day and then I said to go on vacation and get away and <hes> you know he needs to yeah if I were him. I'd have gone to an island or a cabinet say wave Bronx. What do you do no one had the Jersey shore you could say play well outbreak chat with you great shot and we love your work and let's chatty and real soon? Yes thank you you bet that's allied or Al Lighter twenty two on twitter M._l._b.. Network again where you can catch dodgers phillies tomorrow raise Yankees Thursday night ammo be networks going to be the home of the hall of Fame Induction Ceremony this Sunday at one thirty P._M.. Eastern live from cooperstown. Marianne Raritan banner rare goes in this weekend along with other and it's funny. I don't know the others they escaped me right. Yeah kind of escape kind of escaped me right now again. It was funny where you tweeted out during the <hes> men's final Wimbledon's about you know how everyone was rooting for Federer and and is there anybody it was crazy more universally loved as an athlete than Roger Federer and I tweeted you back yeah. Of course I can think of some Rivera jeeter judge right which is a joke in your direction of the people tweeting it like those are all Yankees rich. I think it was a joke. It was a joke in your direction. Although Rivera is up there for universally loved even Red Sox fans couldn't hit on that so he's up there for sure especially since Dave Roberts can successfully steel on him with all the chips are down in two thousand four Bill Miller got the big hit Bill Miller. It's not pronounced Mueller. It's Miller. It's not it's Miller yeah but it's who else is going on. I actually you can't find it only Smith and Harold Baynes there you go cheese so just Mariano Rivera who deserves it yeah all right when we come back news update you know an interesting. The <HES> is a big signing in the N._B._A.. Designing Jersey Swap didn't work <hes> you've got all the rest of the MAG madden rankings. What is in your wallet? What's in your wallet Brockman? What's the news update but I mean what's the poll update before we get to the news over there Chris so we are looking at the the most epic Nick Sports Event of two thousand nineteen so far tiger woods winning right now sixty four percent? Where's the women's national team won national team twelve percent okay A._f._C. N._F._C. Championship weekend fourteen percent antennas announced yesterday tennis ten percent? I was epic a lot of people pining for the cricket. I get it twitter only has four pole options but I mean in all honesty if the men's women if the women's national team which was a phenomenal situation just getting dwarfed by Tiger Woods and then Jovic and fetter being the longest finals ever guys were just pounding the crap out of the amazing to watch us right <hes> that that finishes in fourth place with ultimate respect to cricket fans I mean. I don't think that's yes by the way the cricket match apparently took nine hours. Well cricket goes on Forever Yeah Okay. Let's get to your news update right now brought to you by the Honda CR vegan mic please hit it Brockman with federal live or board rock men with the news stupendous Lee stylish and available with real time all wheel drive. The C._R._V. is ready to team up for your next adventure so hurry to your local Honda dealer today Christopher Okay. We'll start with N._B._A.. Breaking today we had talked about it before that the sixers were working on an extension with Ben Simmons well according. Into Shams he has signed it five years one hundred seventy million dollar mack okay <hes> rich ball told the athletic so there you have very good congratulations. Sixers have got him locked up and beat locked up. They've got Tobias Has Harris Lawrence. That's your big three and Philadelphia see if they can win a championship team going with a trio where a lot of these other teams are now just doing duos the the they are. Everyone's going do a a trio like I'm sure the Lakers hope that coups mma adds to the trio. I'm sure that the clippers can name somebody that they think is yeah but in terms of having three Max players they're one of the few teams who actually do very good okay I will I will accept that and move on <hes> Anthony Davis was introduced here in Los Angeles on Saturday Sir and not concerned about last year's talked about it and no that's not my concern <hes>. I wasn't here here last year when he was saying this and that whether my problem <hes> I'm here now I haven't seen the other <hes> that's all. I'm happy to get started you know and no take this season <hes> head on with the goal of win the championship well they got rid of most everybody that was being threatened to be traded for him pissed off the locker room you know so and then the people who were part of last year that they run in a back with or specifically re-signed re-signed with the team so there if they were pissed they wouldn't come back and play with Anthony Davidson. Yeah like Mommy Oh jail and those guys and kick me you know in case ep I mean so there is no from I mean the only guy who might have had a problem because his name was dangled. The part of everybody else is coups MMA and they held on him yes so they actually showed what has value by not. He's the only he got probably did not offer for for for Davis so there is no problem and Davis is going to wear number three of course we'll bronze said that he was going to give him twenty three and go back to six posting a Lotta pictures about it. <hes> Nike shut that down apparently because the company had a lot of unused inventory of Lebron's twenty-three jerseys already produced and would have taken a financial hit well into the tens of millions according to and millions and also Lebron's seventeen sneaker coming out also has a number twenty three in the design and there to fall far along in the production process to Redo it and put in the number six so the the the switch to Jersey switch is GonNa wait another year yeah all right all right madden rankings. We talked about with Cam Jordan. That was fun. Here's your top ten quarterbacks. Let's see if you agree according to mad let me guess all right about even look. I don't look at the screen wanted mahomes. Yes and I don't care about ninety seven. Okay Tom Brady ninety-six Philip rivers number three at ninety four Andrew Luck Yeah Ninety two Russell Wilson Ninety one your top five Aaron Rodgers Matt Ryan Ben Rothlisberger Tiger Cam Newton prompt jared goff rounds out your top ten brady should be to brady should be to wait. You just said hold on a second earlier this year we talked about who should be the highest paid player. I said Brady Right. British should be number two doing madden wh what's the difference I mean we're not talking about argued. That mahomes should be the number one glare. We are talking about physical prowess. Nobody Beats Patrick. You can't and plus if you're if you're if you're selling games it's Patrick Mahomes all day. I mean he plays like video game. His game is like you're playing e video game Ju- picks throwing the football out of the stadium this week to have him number one but Tom Brady is the second that can he's the best quarterback in the N._F._l.. And you've got to have a member to hear you have to I am here. I am year for all the overlooking Patriots. That's GONNA come because it's coming humming. It happened they start to into it's already here because nobody wants to see them do it again. Nobody thinks they can do it again because they don't want to believe it because they don't want to see it happen so let's try and just psych ourselves into the Patriots stinking and that Brady is going to suddenly turn into like Wilford Brindley and cocoon and they're not going to be able to find one of those meteors to put in the pool and jump into it and become young again that it's all expecting this to happen and and it's not going to happen and yes they will be somewhat up your. I'm going to repeat this every single day until people year me that it's going to happen. They're gonNA start off just a little bit helter skelter. They might lose a couple games. They might actually be somewhat around like foreign three or five and two but luckily lucky to get some of those five and everybody's going to be like what's wrong with the Patriots and overlook them and then T._b.. Twelve is going to call up t eighty seven right around November first. We had that conversation with Gronk just a couple of weeks ago and he's GonNa say Tommy. I'm making you know the Margaritas have got the electrolytes in it and I'm just showing just seven become the playoffs start. He's GonNa call on the playoffs playoffs star running back and win the super bowl again enough on his tangent over a video game rating sway until we start playing just weighing any guests on which team had the worst collective quarterback rankings WCHS worst collective collective who jets the New York giants painting is the worst starting quarterback in Madden. He's a seventy two backup. Alex Tanny is the second worst quarterback quarterback in the entire Game Jones. He's a forty in the history of Matt. Daniel Jones received a sixty three rating which is the lowest ranking of a first round quarterback and more than ten years that doesn't like then Kyle Aleta is a sixty two. Do I mean despite having never played so you're saying you're saying are you saying that the programmers for Madden did not fall in love with Jones over his first three virtual snaps and virtual senior bowl at the virtual senior. Four players had a ninety nine Aaron Donald De'andre Hopkins Khalil Mack Bobby Wagner and Tony Around Julio Jones who keithly ninety eight okay very good. I hadn't twenty twenty coming in a couple of four ninety Bobby Wagner. I am there for his ninety nine. He is that he is. I love that guy. That's a that's a hall of Famer into making right there. In Seattle. I am there for Bob Lau Aaron Donald De'andre Hopkins Khalil Mack and Bobby Wagner. The ninety nine's wants Todd Gurley is a ninety seven no update on his exactly. I still don't know Okay Melvin Gordon. We talked about him last week. Before you move on I did see girly at the S._P.'s party you dead on Wednesday. Now Z. Limping I. He looked at me to be concerned about getting more people than were allowed into the V._I._p.. Area than he had passes for it looked to me like he was dealing with something situation. When I went up to him it looked like like I went in the middle of of logistical situation Cam and I also felt a little bit of the don't ask me about my knee breeze <hes> but we had a nice chat otherwise oh good really what's wrong with what's wrong rams fans? How about that? We're going full. <hes> your your your body for you. Met At dodger stadium the other night saying leaping for the Throne Drumstick drumstick stick out of the hands of Ringo Starr said he went Malcolm Butler on the guy in front of them in jumped at front picked it off our what we talked about. Melvin Gordon last week wants a new deal. He did say he wants to be with the chargers. LONG-TERM WOULDN'T WANNA be does want to who get paid at Mike. You know you've seen what happens equals out <hes> completely different team you know you can't you replace average bax yeah just Klugman but a great back is you can't just replace a great bag and people think you can do that. Is this you can't. It'll be a difference. I it'd be a difference man. You know we do so much. <hes> you know for people to even you know try to devalue values. You know we we we blocked. GotTa run the ball. We gotTA pick up protections. We have to catch the ball. You know we have two receivers. Do we have to do our thing. I mean there's so much that goes through us. You know I I sell people only the hardest position outside running in bed quarterback. That's the only if you have to know so much running back into the next heart condition on you know we should get paid. I agree with him but that's not the way his <hes> league values that position you can ask a whole bunch of running back and is he. This is his time in the barrel right now for a contract extension and <hes> I I say the chargers should pay him now. After I tweeted that we tweeted that video out last last week and I got a lot of blowback on the social media channels and also couple people in the N._F._l.. There are like rich you know he's he's really good but he really only had one great year healthy year that was last year and a bunch of running backs that you you can put together. Maybe they are named Austin actor and and <hes> what's <hes> Jackson Jaren Jackson just justin pardon me Justin Jackson from northwestern who was terrific couple people one fantasy honesty leagues picking him up fifteen sixteen last year so <hes> born all comes down to it weeks one through seventeen. If Melvin Gordon can answer the bell he is terrific better than most and if the chargers WanNa win a super bowl with Philip rivers advancing years and if they want to bust through in this Los Angeles market where Todd Gurley is the todd father and if they want to sell seats in the new stadium which it seems like that that is a goal and has a a little bit of ways to go having Melvin Gordon on everybody's fantasy leagues and everybody talking about him and having him happy and under contract is a way to go now. I know there's a bunch packer fans at one him to come home to Wisconsin. Could you imagine him in Jones. Though that's the point that the chargers can make the draft and Aaron Jones and maybe he can be that guy for a year or two or three on another way out of this <music> but I hope the way out of it for everybody involved as he stays put here because he's a special player when he's healthy ninety two ranking and mad go gordon backing it up. He's fourth very good. <hes> some cool news our Buddy Ryan Leaf tweeted out over the weekend hired by E._S._p._N.. E._S._P._N.. Is a college football analyst for this coming season a awesome good for Ryan leafy has come a long way we love Ryan Lee fear good more to the merging vets and players program here with the Glazer Nate Boyer. My story story is filled with broken pieces terrible choices in ugly truths. It's also filled with a major comeback piece in my soul and a grace that saved my life is what Ryan Leaf instagram and tweeted out over the weekend well done Ryan Good job look forward to hear him on the air. Robbie gold reached a new contract kickers are four years nineteen million years nineteen million dollars worthy to stay in San Francisco bears fans were hoping that he'd wind up there yeah you're part of the Friday News Dumb Bridge Incognito to game suspension. Honestly don't understand that signing or the fact that he's allowed back in the league. I don't know what's going on. Very bizarre hard knocks I I shouldn't I I'm not fully versed on all the details here but I don't understand it and Tony Romo defended his is American Century Championship intellect Tau this weekend backed back titles very moulder second Mardy Fish. No surprise US tied for third with Derek Well Mardy fish one you weigh <hes> rattled a travel bag. I used you did use it. <hes> Houston Yeah I saw on your instagram feed you think in the good people of callaway golf and honesty here on the rich Eisen show helping my golf game tremendously that right isn't it. You like clubs. Don't you meet it's like sticks of butter. I short game is tremendous right now. Is it really everything else tremendous. What do you mean by tremendous? I mean you know pretty much. <hes> hundred in I'll be on the dance for putting it's just getting to that point is the issue and where where are things with the <hes> world series of poker. Five guys left off guys laughed. All Right? Let's do this sixty seven hundred wwl W it is in fact, nail carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet. It is opening day week for reds. Baseball and I'm very excited about that Let's kick it off with reds conversation. Right out of the shoot. Our first guest has been a contributed to this show throughout all of this He's been kind enough to let. Let me bug him a couple of times, and so I thought it only fitting delete off opening day week with him to get perspective from this past weekend where he was behind the mic for reds, dot, com, calling the red summer series, and you'll having behind the mic this week, and throughout the season for Fox sports. Ohio. That would be Chris, Welch, how are you? Doing great lands. Thanks for finding making me a leadoff hitter. I've semi coverage I WANNA leadoff. But he said don't worry. You'll eat off the third inning. Understood understood how how nice was it for you to be back at the ball yard and call in a baseball game this weekend? It was really fun for me. I mean it was was quite different. Watch it on the radio DOT COM. You realized it was artificial crowd noise. There's nobody in the stands out ball's going to. Bounce around me. Just sit. There It was hard to try to feel that there was intensity, even though the players obviously were some of more playing better to than others. I, caught it up. Renton volunteered for that. I noticed a lot of other teams around baseball. There were putting their teams is their inner squad gains on their respective websites, and then after a few games, a lot of those teams had the broadcasters broadcast. Didn't so you know I'm I'm? the only broadcaster. They didn't get paid through the throughout the whole season. for which I commend the really commend the reds for taking care of their people. Great Organization worked for, but because I'm a contract and. With box bidding Tamie so I built a lot of other guys around baseball like that so volunteer anyway I saw void. Get some reps and have some fun doing baseball and it was a blast. It was really fun and It would be more fun when the real shakes up starting later this week down and I certainly enjoyed and. Appreciated the job he did over the three days, it was fun watching and listening, but you mentioned the crowd noise. Let me tap into your experiences as a pitcher, what in terms of adrenaline in terms of just standing on the mound, towing the rubber at a sold out ballpark versus nothing what what what are going to go through in terms of adjusting to all this? Life. Here in a sold out ballpark. At least for my experience, you don't hear really anything except kind of a muffle more and everything just kind of elevate your Lyndon someone. You'll hear any one person on. The ballpark was hardly anybody there. You hear basically a conversation going on in the DUGOUT. You can hear the broadcasters broadcasting the game and it's it's really. Some Bourbon I rather have more people. It's not necessarily from an Adrenalin standpoint. Just because you know having a little bit of background always is comforting. Chris, how good was Sonny Gray yesterday? And how about what the reds have tapped into in getting him back to kind of is Oakland A.'s days over the last year and a half. Even better than that it for man. That's what he looks like. He obviously took care of himself during the break he he worked hard at. His. His year last year was all about for me being able to control the fast on inside. Are The plate left-handers? Then he throws breaking ball in the same spot makes over and all day long. he is you just season excellent competitor. The great acquisition I idea until I got a little bit. How, what a competitor here really is and I'll tell you what he's GonNa make everybody pitching staff a little bit better. I think one of the cool stories that come out of all. This is the fact that Nate Jones is healthy and he's made this team. If you could relate you have a bass fishing lake nate. Jones connection here if you could tell us that story. In real spring training back with. Some Butler Kentucky Yeah Zest. I said I know where that is Dan. Penalty County right near Que Les, and I taught myself a this camp down there. The kids down there fish off a pontoon boat I. Want Great Place. That it was Metaxas Dermot standpoint or all the huge fast team from northern Kentucky and there was a special where. Locals told me how to fish. That and I'll tell you real quick. Basically you get a broomstick and you put a heavy gauge line on like twenty or thirty pound test line big all hook which be bigger than normal for a bath. Pork Rind on the end of it and a Hula Skirt and. Dip that thing down there about eight to ten feet deep. Deep Lake, and there's a bunch of stumps, logs and everything everyone because it's a man-made Lake and those basketball out of the darkness, and we shouldn't get grabbed out there that talk behind Hula Skirt. That's the way he's GonNa. Take it on down at the taxes so. That was the way you finish that late and you have. He was very familiar with John. I didn't work for me. The wrong Color Hulu Shirk on us clearly that is fantastic. Chris, Welch checking in from Fox Sports Ohio talking a little a reds baseball at big picture in that pan. Is that we? I think everybody feels good about the rotation. How comfortable are you with that bullpen and maybe more specifically Amir Garrett. Mirror Garrett and Cody Ri put them in the same category, but especially a busy more major league experience this ceiling unlimited. Dominating. Buddy in baseball asked kind of cigarette think for a mere. Simply getting more reps i. think the more that he pitches the movies to understand this delivery the Hor. He's got understand what the situation is I think. That, it's very difficult for a great athlete like Amir Garrett is to learn how to back off a little bit. You get out. There is a girl is going into. The game managers call. Toughest left-handers on this ballclub. Come out there and and the biggest. problem you would have is trying too hard and I think that's the thing for me. I know cloud don't worry. Once he gets into the flow of the game and the flow of the. He's going to be fine, but initially I think he's got a fight the adrenaline because he's one of these athletes you know from the basketball background. We're really helps you. You Piran you get the rebound if You're on the mound. Let's talk hitting. What are your impressions I? Know you saw him in spring, but kind of update is your impressions of what Shogo might add to this team. Really. Interesting to watch number one defensively, he might be the best. Best about player. The reds have had Scott Rolen Anita's everything right in the field, always backing up Santa! Rice Fine Karloff man I mean he is. Cincinnati people are GonNa love him because that's the way we play baseball right there, right? From offense of standpoint, interesting to watch because I don't think reds. Fans have seen a player quite like this before. He's got a little run out of the box. Slim He slaps at the ball hit. The ball doesn't look like you're supposed to hit. McGee when he was a left handed hitter sweatshirt, but when he hit love. Saint Louis Cardinals. He was the MVP and nineteen eighty five. slap the ball all over the place. Where the speed do the talking and I think? The same way he's interesting guy I think he's a good addition to this club for a lecture on. I know you have a passion for what you've created this rules. Academy in the latest edition involves Bronson. Arroyo lay out all of that he could. Cowboy did I've got this baseball academy. Dot Com it's a completely free wet side to make an entertainment during the baseball shutdown. decided to pit my casper versus broadcaster, and matches wits and massive rules knowledge. They have three locations in northern. Kentucky and they are hiring at each of those locations. Thanks to Burley Corns for presenting the twitter feed quick, follow up in their own wants you to hear a couple of things at Kirk. Sally said. Today or a over the weekend what Chris Welch said about Shogo. The most fundamentally sound reds player since Scott Rolen. And he said you're GONNA love it. I go back to what David Bell said last week when he was two weeks news here on Sports, talk and he talked about show goes approach at the plate. Approaching it as a craft was the word he used. The baseball I Q. The ability to run the bases. You may not steal a lot of bases, but one thing you saw him do yesterday. He singled on a on a chopper up the middle. Joey votto was up next and Joey flared one to right and Shogo went I a third like it was nothing. If, Shogo can get on base. What that does to jump start this offense. Last legitimate on BASS GUY team had was Shinsu chew in two thousand thirteen. Think of what it does to the rest of that batting orders at falls into place, and just think about all those little things that when you are when you're described the way Chris Welch described him. You're hitting the cutoff man. You're throwing to the right base. You're taking the extra base. You're hitting behind the runners. All of those things are huge, and it seems as though they're just. They come naturally a second nature to show Gawky. That's him as a baseball player and I love that. Kirk Rally said something, a couple of things that that stuck out with eight, and the more I hear, Kirk talk and he was with segued for a while during the the Doug had interviews during the last baseball, but Kirk Sally one has a as a great voice to. He has really good insight into the game he could articulated in threes got a sense of humor, and if you add all that up, I tweeted this earlier I. Think Kirk Alec can be a baseball analyst someday whether it's TV or radio MLB. MLB. Network whatever it is, he's a really smart guy. Can talk the game baseball and inject a little bit of humor in it and I? I've always enjoyed what he's been on the show with me as well. He was asked about remember last week. We talked to MLB DOT. COM ranked the top ten starting rotations in baseball, and they write the reds third and I did a topic on that now we talked about the depth, the quality and depth of that read starting rotation Kurt was asked about it any said third. I think three is a little low I think this should be higher I think our staff did something crazy last year with with a turnaround that they did you know from dozen eighteen two dozen nineteen. They put in a lot of hard work the DJ Caleb. They did a lot of work on their own and. We came together as a staff for sure I mean are if you look at our lineup of? Are Starting reducing. Excuse me, I mean! On paper, it's scary and in real life. It's even scarier and I'm not I. don't even think it's top. Heavyweight people are saying I. Think when you you know you guys like disco. Fonteyn Wave Miley get just lost because the top three are just so talented, but. Wade through Friday night Napoli Card might team up and disco throws about the most untalkative about ninety six, ninety seven in the big league, so he's got wipe out slider. So from that perspective I think we're really good, I think. I think we're both ends. Accept Challenge and and and. Do what they did last year in and take a step up. Into two thousand and twenty I think he'll be better. Lorenzo is going to be better. guy like Pedro. STROKE IS GONNA. Come in and add some to our door Volkan. Amir Stevenson. These guys, these guys all have caliber experience now they have a lot of experience in and hopefully stars go as long as possible, and they won't have too much, but when they get in. They're gonNA. They're gonNA. Close the door and help us preserve someone's bill. That was good stuff on raids rotation low at three overall on paper. It's scary in real life. It's even. Even scarier reds catcher, Kirk Sally and I loved his answer when he was asked about it. I think everybody's wondering what we've talked forever about sixty games and the impact and what it might do, and what it might not do what it means for teams and players and managers, and then there was Kurt when he was asked what what he thinks about a sixty game season. I don't know I really don't know it's. It's definitely a great question. I. Don't think anybody knows just I think it just adds a lot of pressure to win each and every game I. Know Our our one run loss record last year is just not going to cut it. We have to be able to. If we have one day, we have to be able to lock it down and and when that thing and. You know if if you win one game, it's more like you just one three and it's I mean that that's huge so. I'm excited about I. Think it's I. Think unique that we get to be a part of history in swear. That statement and that ending I think it's unique that we get to be a part of history it is. It's the tone that this team. This organization is taken from day one. I remember talking with Josh van meter the week that they were going to start a talked about how having a positive frame of mind was going to be the biggest thing going into all this. There was a lot of stuff they weren't sure about. There was GONNA be testing and testing and testing protocols, and they were going GonNa have to learn what they could do and what they couldn't do it. He said in the end. It's about getting your mind right. And I noticed that right away with the guys we talked to how their. For lack of a better word, their talking points in their mind were were going to make the best of this. It might not be ideal, but we're going to make the best of this and make it work and I think each of the players have taken that as the Q. and run with it. I think it sets them up really well beginning Friday night in the sixty game run I. Want I want you to listen to one more from from Kurt talking about the reaction, this weekend of the crowd noise being pumped in vibe after the two scrimmages, but also listen to what he said about what is driving him this season. I'll tell you I was pleasantly surprised with how. These past two games Friday and Saturday have gone with the crowd noise and the scoreboard and the music, and just the way that it kind of heightened our senses, and made it more exciting to play as opposed to the the the kind of live EP scrimmage like games that we were playing last week. I it it definitely I, think energized us. Is it GonNa be the same as as last year like honestly the most fun opening ever been part of but. No, it's not but. We as opposed to taking energy from the fans that are giving us. We have to create it ourselves and I think we can we have? We have enough young guys in this team. We have enough guys. Frankly, they haven't won enough that want to win I. We just we just WanNa win. I have never been to the playoffs in the Big Leagues and that drives me absolutely in San I wanNA. Make it this year. My Life's mission to to make that happen if I need to scream more on the bench, which is not something that I'm particularly comfortable with or good at I'm going to do it. And it just something that we we have to come together with as a team to be able to create that energy. I feel like we've. We've done a pretty good job in the past two games. I think it's been fun. It's been. Exciting to play him, but We have to figure out another way to do it. The thing is at nobody's playing with fans. Everybody's a here and that same crowd noise. So in some ways it's a it's an equalizer. But. We can. We can figure it out. I've got exportations in hopes for for our squad. I love that sound bite. What he said about dealing with what they're presented and what he said about what's driving him and whatever it takes. Love that when we come back Tucker, Barnhart said something. I've never heard a hitter. Say in terms of hitting. You'll hear it and let's see we've heard from Kirk. You're going to hear from, Tucker you'll hear from Nate Jones later on in the seven o'clock hour in Trevor Bauer I'd love to hear from you. It's reds opening day week. Five, one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big one and pound, seven, hundred odd at and T. R. L. Carriers sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet, seven hundred WWL W. Close It on seven o'clock, we're flying in our number one. We're knee deep in the reds. Conversation I'm lions. mcallister carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet. This is Kennedy, kitching half. Are we from, Kirk? In the last segment Tucker. Bernard said a couple of things that jumped out to me one. You'll hear. I is Sonny Gray and the improvement and it's why I ask. Chris Welch about it in the opening interview of the show. Just how good sunny was last year? How good he's been so far in this restart four hitless innings yesterday. Five strikeouts one walk. Tucker Barnhart talked about how far Sonny's come. And what it? What Derek Johnson Caleb coffin in new surroundings have meant and how sunny I'm not even sure we can say is back to his Oakland, as day Chris kind of referenced it. He's better than his Oakland as days. Here's Tucker Barnhart on Sunday, Gray. I think when we acquired him. from from new. York I think just getting back with guys that he's familiar with whether. It's Kurt whether it's Dj whether it's Caleb. Just being in an environment just to really help bring the most are the best out of Sunday. I think for me. Was extremely important in the in the kind of the rebounder? The successes that he's had I mean Ev. It's always been there. It's not like it's gone away a, but but it's just really coming back out I. Mean it's the the guy that you saw in Oakland and in the? When he first came up in the big leagues in now I think this is even better version of that. I faced him in live probably a week and a half ago and I'm really glad that he's on my team because he's A. He's a bear to face. When you're at the play, I think he punched me out twice in to bat, so he's A. A fun got having a clubhouse. He's brings out the best in everybody's competitor and I can't say enough good things about him I mean. Let's go back Sonny Gray is a Yankee. The give it up on him. They didn't know what to do with him. They had taken him out of their starting rotation. Fans in new. York had turned on him and the. Just wanted to find somebody to take him off their hands. Do you realize what the contract was. The Red Sign Sunny to the extension. Four years thirty eight million dollars this year, Sunny Grays, GonNa make well pro-rated, but overall. It was ten point one next year ten point one, the following year, ten point one million and the option year they'd pick it up twelve million in a day and age where there are pitchers making twenty, five, thirty, thirty Sherzer, and and those thirty five million. The reds are getting Sonny Gray for the next three years at ten million a year. Tucker Barnhart. something. That I don't know I've heard a hitter. Say in terms of switch hitting. Many of them. Don't want to give it up. Tucker Bernhardt has given it up. Listen to what he said about what that decision has done for him. Truly the. To just hitting left handed for me has been such a game changer. It's my natural side, and the. The amount of anxiety that I don't have when it comes to having to figure, try to figure out heating right handed. has taken so much off of my plate. It's allowed me to prepare just as a left-handed hitter, and like I, said it is my natural side, and and really focus on the things that I do right or when I'm going well. The things that I'm doing right and things I need to work on when when when things start to go a little haywire so for me personally. I feel very good. I feel very comfortable to play I'm just looking forward to getting in the real things. Go a real games going here. really soon. How about that? He gave up right handed hitting for his career Tucker Barnhart batting left. Handed is a to fifty eight hitter, three, thirty, six on base as a right handed hitter for his career to nineteen hitter. To Ninety six on base, and what he said that decision, a game changer the amount of anxiety. He doesn't have to deal with now. Thinking about hitting right handed and allowing him to focus on other things last year Tucker Barnhart as a right handed batter hit one forty six. As a left-hander, he hit two forty seven hundred one point time a gun on base thirty four percent of the time for catcher. Not, but you'll take back. For his career as a left handed batter. Is Batting average is thirty eight points higher than right, handed his on base. It's forty percent higher. His slugging is one hundred thirty six points higher. To major difference and yet guys do it if you can do it in. In theory it helps you and gives you the flexibility against both pitchers, but Tucker reached a point where he just he wasn't having success. Right handed, and why? Why just grind it if the success isn't there? And now Tucker will get. The right handed pitchers, most pitchers in major league baseball are right handed, so he'll be the left handed. Hitter gets right. He's playing most of the time. Kirk. Alley then gets the left handed. pitchers might get the occasional mix and match depending on who starting the game, but i. just those words are going to stick with me with what Tucker Barnhart said about what it's done for his his mindset and exile I and Zaidi level, not having to worry about the failures. And try to crawl out of that hole as a right handed hitter I think that's huge. It was good stuff from both catchers. Let's do this, but what are in the books already? Nate. Jones is made the team the prior to foul mouth. Hedge ought to be able to sleep in your own bed. In foul drag to the ballpark every day. That Trevor Bauer on this pitching staff. The challenges the competition within and. The hundred green instagram in tweet, and what it means and I'm going to tie that into what Trevor said. he's impressions are at one hundred that have played a little bit of last week. We'll do that as we continue. You are certainly welcome into the mix to join the conversation. Five, one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big one and pound, seven, hundred at and T.. Rachel's in at nine. She will take you nine to midnight. We've got a lot of ground to cover it. We got busy with the reds. Conversation I our Chris Welch you're from Kirk Sally eared from Tucker Bernard a little bit later on. You're going to hear Trevor Bauer, and a couple of things but Let's begin here. I am I am no secret about this. I'm a big fan of nate. Jones the reds relief pitcher. Nate is. From Kentucky went to ince you. has spent his entire career up until now with the Chicago White SOx before signing with the reds in the off season found out. He made the team over the weekend. He's a client of my guy. Juice speed big fan of Joe Speed so I'm happy on on that front as well. I've been around nate. I was with him and his wife for a charity event. They hosted at top Gulf a couple of years ago in just in the limited time around him became a big fan of how he carries himself. He's A. He's a humble guy. He's A. He's a family guy. I love the story. He told US months ago during at the start of all this when he and his dad built, a pitching mound went to. PLO bought the tools and built them out and set it up in his barnes. We could pitch from the bar to the outside. I also like the fact. He's a veteran. Who's been there done that that they can add bullpen. A glazes Lorenzen. Garrett Stevenson. Tyler, Molly. SIMS I? They're not. They're not kids, but they don't have the experience life experience as a reliever like someone like Nate Jones even somebody like Pedro strope to additions to this bullpen which I think will serve them well, and they're two different types of personalities, which which I think will serve them well over the weekend. The made it official David Bell told Nate he had made the team and it's been a been hurt off and on the last couple of years when he's been healthy, there's no secret. He's been out stay. He's been filthy when he's been healthy. David Bell talked about how. Buddy his father, who had been in the white sox organization new nate from the time when he was healthy and said if healthy. I think he can really help your team and I believe that to be true because natives. The gun has him around ninety, five, ninety six ninety seven miles an hour. He's got a funky delivery. That takes a little bit of time to. To figure out if you'RE A hitter, I've just I've been impressed with how he's carried himself for the longest time. That I I think it's really cool that this next chapter of his career includes being able to come home the kid from Foul Mouth N. K. U. Player, who now gets to sleep in his own bed every night and drive to the ballpark. He talked. Yesterday about the reaction. His Reaction Finding out he made the team. been a long journey, but it definitely been worth it. And for it to be this close to home in a lot of people to be able to experience it with me is is pretty is pretty exciting, and I'm very thankful and very blessed for that for sure I get to go home to my own bed at night. Not a lot of guys get the opportunity to do that in their career, and so when this opportunity arose this offseason being a free agent. Jumped on it, and in hopes, that I could do that the yeah, it's not a bad drive at all it. Calms you down after a game night and get you ready. It's your mind. Right on the drive in for about thirty five forty minutes. Nate Jones yesterday on making the team. He's appeared two hundred eighty four major league games in relief I believe all those are in relief. Yes, just double checking at three twelve earned run average for his career. This obviously be the first time he's pitching without fans in the stands. He was asked about the focus when there's no crowd noise. That's a great question. It all comes down to focus. You know we have as. We have a job to do. And that's those strikes. No matter if there's a crowd or not, and so you really lock in what your job like at the simplest form is to do. And you Tariq Iraq rate that energy by that way like I need to throw strikes a big situation where up about one run it's late in the game and so and just had the on to kind of ADDS a little extra energy to make making it feel more like a game and then. The crowd noise that they're playing in I mean it isn't the worst thing in the world I guess. It helps you out a little bit, too. But just breaking it down to the simple game baseball, and it's simple as being pitcher. We need to throw strikes, and so that's the one thing I focused on is what gives me energy to to make game like as possible. Nate Jones. Reds Reliever on Zoom, call yesterday with the media and think about this as a kid grew up. A reds fan grew up going to ballpark. And now as a thirty three year old. Pitching for that team on the mound at Eh Great, American ballpark and Friday will be opening day. He was asked about his memories as a kid of opening day. Absolutely watch it on TV. The parade I mean the parade is outrageous. It's always got covered by the news and stuff, and so I thought that was. always something pretty cool. I was not fortunate enough to ever make it to an opening day. But like I mentioned before you know when we had perfect attendance or the Abyan role grown up one of the. Prizes or gifts you got was a two tickets to a reds game. And so I do remember all those and because you know. I'm not saying. I was the best suit or made the school every day, but when I did you know you realize like? Hey, you got to go to reds, game and so Those experiences with my family were ones I'll you know cherish and never forget especially the time now that? You know. People are gonNA. Come and watch me. You know if they're still doing avion real like giveaways. Perfect tennis giveaway, so that's. You know that's a pretty cool thought. Nate Jones reds, reliever and Abyan role have to wait told next year of course with fans of the stands, but I I love. Let me give you more time in this segment. He was asked about as someone who grew up a fan of rates baseball. If he has experienced one of those moments where it's Kinda him, you grew up a fan of the team. Now you're playing for the team and he referenced. It hasn't happened. This time rounded happened in spring, trading and Goodyear. I mean it happened in spring training already. That was Barry Larkin and it. It was on our fiscal day. Nate Jones good stuff when we continue I thought. Trevor Bauer brought up a great point the other night when he talked about not just the competition on this pitching staff, but how different each pitcher is and what they can learn from each other as a result. We'll do that and more of course. Take your calls at five, one, three, seven four. Four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big pounds, seven, hundred, odd at and T. we jumped into the reds conversation deep I've got an idea by the way about an empty ballpark. We kind of have a theme tonight. We've heard from Chris Welch who joins US IT START KIRK. Sally heard from Tucker Bernard from Nate Jones one more, and I heard this the other night driving home from Trevor Bauer when he joined the guys on MLB radio, talking about and we. We've referenced this before. The good staffs, the feed off of each other. And I'm not saying the reds staff is the brave staff of the ninety when I make this analogy, but the the braves have said over the years that Galvin's Maddox smoltz guys like that they the competition they fed off of it, and it raised their game from one start to the next. There's also the added element in this case with the reds of the makeup. The stuff on this starting rotation listen to what trevor. Bauer told the guys from MLB radio the other night about the competition and about the differences within that pitching rotation. I if you'd office obviously the competition on the field watching a guy, go out there and punch out ten and seven shutout like Oh man. Like stepped my game up I got you know I gotTa do better? That's everyone feels that way. You know so the the competition on the field drive each other, and then when you're sitting in the dugout and you're talking about okay. What did you see with them last night? And you're allowed. You approach it, and we'll have such different approaches. Right I mean Sonny is very heavily. Breaking ball like that sinker, comebacker and stuff like that Casteel is very heavily like a sinker and a change at. I'm almost exclusively for Siem and curveball and breaking balls, so we'll all different approaches. And we can Kinda, learn. CAST is like this guy. You know when I saw this in swing. Through a change happens like okay well. I can use that because I got a changeup. It's not nearly as good as yours, but I put that in back of my mind, so so we can bounce stuff off each other and then. Wade Majlis been around and seen a lot as well and you got the finding there as well who I mean. We all have our unique ways of going about approaching it, but we all have our very distinct strengths, and those are things that can pass back and forth to each other, and that's even starting to talk about the bullpen and what they see on the town. We got down there. I like that that's good stuff from from Trevor Bauer by the way on a starting pitching level down below. I don't I. Don't know what to make of this. Nothing has come out of it today, but last night. Hundred Green tweeted and posted on instagram. A locator at said Cincinnati Ohio And he tweeted in all capital letters. Let's go. Leading to rapid speculation about what that meant, the obvious instant reaction is wait a minute. He coming. Is he coming to town or they adding him to the player pool? Now what I find it intriguing that stayed up for a couple of hours and then was removed. Here's here's what I could see happening. The reds have would dietrich now asking for and receiving his release, they still have three openings on their sixty man player pool. I could see the reds announcing. They've added hundred green to the pool and he'll. Go and I could see the reds also say you know. What are you doing? You're killing his here. You can't. You can't release transactions before we make transactions because there might be other moving pieces and parts to all this I could see that scenario I don't know. I could see this area where somebody says hey, take that down because a something might happen, so maybe he's taking it down. But what would it surprise me if they added him to Pasco No? Hundred Green missed all of last season because of the Tommy John Surgery. He setting up to miss another season because there's no minor league season. And keep in mind. The last time he pitched was twenty eighteen in through sixty eight innings that year we talked about this last week. His his senior year in high school. They kid gloves him and let him only make five appearances. Then the reds drafted him. They sent him to billings. He pitched four and a third innings in billings when he was seventeen then in two thousand. Thousand Eighteen pitches at Dayton. He made eighteen appearances through sixty eight and a third innings. Then he had the elbow issues at shut him down at the end he tried to Rehab rested didn't work. He had Tommy John. Surgery missed all of last season man. It would not be good for anybody if he missed all of this season now he's not going to have a season, but. You could adding depress. Go and having throw on a regular basis as part of the reds player pool, and then I don't know that we're gonNA, get crazy and say if push comes to shove or if he's really feeling good, you know the I. Find It hard to believe. They were jumping from low a Dayton in two thousand, eighteen to the major leagues in September Stranger. Things have happened, but it would not shock me if after all of that last night in a tweet and then in an instagram Cincinnati is the locator. Let's go in all capital letters than being. We would see in the next day or so. The reds announced they have added hundred green to the player pool in. He will work with the group out of prisco Park would not shock. We've reached the midway. Point of the show I've got an idea. I got a lot of ideas. Some are bad. I think this idea works. I think it would be good for you. I think it would be good for the reds. I think it would be good for the reds community. Fund will lay that out as we continue its Arnelle carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet at seven hundred. Joe Borough. To this point. has had a virtual offseason. All by Zoom. Now, Joe Borough will have no preseason. His starting left tackle. Who hasn't played in a preseason game yet will not play in a preseason game this year. Week one assuming there is an NFL season will be the first type of NFL game experience against another team. The Joe Borough and Joan Williams will experience. And t higgins and the other rookies in this class obviously. Holy Moly. NFL again offering the Players Association today zero preseason games this summer. All right I have an idea. I some are good. Some are bad. I think I think this one I I always say. What's the downside and I thought of this watching the reds. The summer series. The scrimmage on reds dot com over the weekend. If you happen to notice whenever a foul ball was hitting the stands, the camera focused on the ball, rolling down the aisle, or underneath the seats from like row twelve, bouncing down to Roy Levin bouncing down the road, ten down the road, until it finally stopped, and it became kind of comical like watch the the foul ball roll, drop, role, drop, and then stop. Here's my idea. What do people love? Kids love at Baseball Games. Foul balls, catching foul balls, chasing foul balls. What's not going to happen this year at the reds games catching foul balls and chasing foul balls. I've got something that might be just as good. I'd argue better. What a threads had and they do that. Reds authentic. The the online. What if the reds had employees? Couple of them in the ballpark. Who Chase down the foul balls? During the game. And then after the game. And as they chased him down, a they would, they would mark on their the their APP, or whatever sheet they record all the reds authentic stuff. You record this foul ball Joey votto. And after the game. Or maybe once a week. The players would sign their foul balls. And then those balls go up for bid at Reds Dot Com with the proceeds going to the rates. Community Fund. What do you think? You're watching on listening to the game on radio. Foul foul opted a third base side bounds around section whatever? X. Number of reds employees. Maybe! They walk around with buckets. PICK THEM UP Tagum. Mike. Mustafa's foul ball July thirty first wherever the date. Once a week or when the reds come back from a homestand. Mike Mustafa's. Here's your bucket. If you could please, sign these, he said, and those go up on reds, dot, com, or through rides off. Phoenix and you could see the date the opponent the player, and then there would be bid you get the bid. Highest bidder gets the ball. Money goes to Charlie Franken. The Reds Community Fund. I got another idea to that because the essence of foul balls is supposed to be about kids. Here's what I'd add to. To it, the reds do a fantastic thing with the reds, heads, Kids Club, Casey and Peyton were members of the reds, heads, kids, club, and when you're young, forget up to what age you sign up for this club, and you get to go to events at the Reds Hall of fame, and a meet and greet with players, and you get a backpack for school, and you get schedule magnet. You get a bunch of cool stuff that comes with it. Well I would add to it. A couple of times a game. The announcement would be made maybe on the TV side. You could hear Thom Brennaman saying. A tonight's reds heads kids. Club member is Jimmy Jones from Anderson Jimmy. The next foul ball is yours, and it will be signed by the player who falls off from the reds. And from that pool of all your ribs, heads, kids club members each night. Maybe you draw two names, you draw a name, the you'd make it the third and sixth inning. The reds heads kids club foul ball inning. Tonight sixth-inning tonight's reds heads kids. Club member is. Suzie Q. From Dell High and Suzie Q.. You get the first foul ball this inning. It'll be signed by the reds player who thousand off that that player then signs it the next time around next time at the end of the. Or whatever you, you have this group meeting the sign them and the reds would then send that out. To Suzie Q. And del high as part of her bonus for being a member of the reds I have no idea how many kids are in the rights, heads kids club if he did to a game each home game. That's a thirty home games that sixty I don't know if there's maybe there's one hundred twenty kids maybe do a couple of inning. Maybe do one every three innings. The details. Let them. Work out the details I look at this is what's the downside? As is. Nobody's going to get those balls. They're just going to bounce around and land in the stand somewhere until somebody eventually picks them up. Nobody's GonNa have the experience the entire season of chasing down a foul ball. So rather than just collect them all and sanitize them and reuse them again. They were going to be gone anyway once they went into the stands. You weren't getting back. So collect the foul balls. Have the players side him. Put Them Up, forbid maybe eighty each night you twenty four hours after twenty four hours. The bidding is closed and that Joey votto foul ball goes to the highest bidder. That was I'd pick your number. How much would somebody pay for Joey votto foul ball that he was going to sign I? Don't know that seemed to me. That sounds like bordering on a truckload of money for the reds. Community Fund, which is taking a significant hit win win! Community Fund gets money. Fans get a baseball. Fans get it signed by player and weren't even at the game because they can't be in their bummed about that, but you say hey, you know we feel for you. And that's one of the cool experiences of reds, baseball and just baseball game. That foul ball chase. Here's what we're GONNA do so I've taken care of those who are of the adult persuasion who would bid online and are taking care as a reward. Hey, thanks for hanging with his during this reds, heads, kids club membership, and we know it's not the season. Season that you thought it was going to be when you signed up, but how about this? I might make it. I don't know how many kids are in the reds, heads, kids club, but I think it'd be pretty cool and aid. You get the kids. What do we need kids doing watching baseball? How cool would it be if the kids are watching to hear their name cold by Thom Brennaman coming out of the commercial break, we begin the sixth inning in tonight's sixth-inning reds heads. Kids called foul ball goes to Jimmy Joe in Covington. Jimmy this first foul ball the inning, and then they make a big deal foul back in into the stands by Nick, Castanos and a reminder. What was our kids name? That ball it'll be signed by Nick and we are sending it out to you. Thanks for being a member of the reds, kids club. If you'd like to sign up, good reds dot, com slash reds, heads, kids club. To make any sense mad. Again. There will always be people who don't like my ideas, just on principle that but I ask you this. What would be the downside to that? You're giving them to the kids who were involved with your kids club. And then everybody else has an equal shot to bid on I mean how many fouls are there in a game? There's going to be a Lotta them in a game. Why. Not put them to good. Why not put something to use that? You were never going to get back in a real game once they went into the stands anyway. Five one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big one pound, seven, hundred on at and T. I will say on bombed unless it's going to be a late rush to do this I. Am bummed and I think the reds have missed an opportunity for not offering the cardboard cutouts I thought about it in the three games I watched on. Reds Dot Com specifically behind home plate in the diamond seats with. There's nothing there. There and I watched what cubs white sox last night and there were cut out. I watched the pirates game yesterday. There were cut outs behind home plate I think the reds missed an opportunity offering cutouts. If you want to sell them and put that money to the Reds Community Fund and let fans their faces appear in in the Ballpark, but that's just me. It is a carrier sportstalk presented by Kelsey Chevrolet on seven hundred WWL W. Close it and on eight o'clock eight o'clock already all right. Here's the second part of the plan. I would then alternate because foul balls are cool. I mean who doesn't want a foul ball. But what's cooler than a foul ball, a home run ball I would alternate the home run balls between what like the first one of each game goes up for bid? The second one goes to a reds, heads, kids, club, member and. And you alternate throughout the game and you'd also add now. This would be more difficult to get the opposing player to sign it. Can you imagine if you included the opposing players? And maybe a home run hit by Homerun hit by Cassiano. Move stock us or vodka or Suarez or or Anthony. Rizzo or Havi are says not that I'm rooting for opposing players to hit home runs in the Ballpark, but you get the idea. How many let's see how many home games thirty home games. What's the average number of the home runs hit per game times thirty I mean think of the possibilities of a game. Where say two home runs or hit? One goes up for bid. And one goes to redheads, kids club member. No downside from where I sit self-funding go, Gregg welcome to seven hundred wwl W sportstalk. All Right I. Think you got a great idea. What about? Taking it to baseball lottery. People by to see. And if the ball lands on your seat, then you win the ball and you win one hundred dollars. Oil, but think of the difficulty of the ball landing in a seat. If the ball land in where your seat is under your seat, exactly then you want two thousand dollars, and if you call the batter that hits it, you win a million dollars that seems rather complicated. And it seems the ball is on your seat. Right under your see you win the ball and you win some money and people by the seat. It's real simple, so you by the secret dollar. You're not sitting there, but if the ball comes, you might wanNA million dollars I didn't see in in the three games. I watch this weekend. Here's the issue I didn't see a single ball land in well, the seats were up. Our most ball's GonNa roll just roll and climbing around wherever ends up. If it's under the seat, the space you bought for dollar, you win a certain amount of money, and if you win ten thousand dollars, and your kid gets the ball and you get it signed I. Think you've got some people watching implying. Greg. Thanks for the phone call. Let's go here about pat on seven hundred wwl W hate bad. Lanfei doing okay. How about you? I think you're onto an awesome ideas. You've had some incredible barking ideas over the last couple of weeks. I mean I'm really impressed. You're in the wrong industry. Although you're good at what you do. Thank you, thank you. But tears, my only thing that pops up. and. Yeah, okay, so we've been on these things. There's so many kids out there whose parents are not working losing money. He can't afford to bring their kids to a ball game and they can't afford to bid on a ball. Luckily. I can enough still. Working very well. but One out of every four balls how he put that up for. Okay you. Put Your name in the lottery and kid can't afford for his parents to bid on. One gets one I'd be for that. Yeah I. I am combining. I'm including kids who were in the reds, heads, kids club, but that does that cost something to join so I get that I kind of liked that you could. You could have like a like a kids lottery I. Don't know how we make it specific to well, you'd have to provide the information for your kid like date of birth and that information and you put that into like the kids pool and. You, draw the home, run balls and foul balls from from that standpoint as well I could go for that. The parents write a letter. Have the kids write a ladder and you know all the kids I mean? There's always a ton of kids in. I mean I do a lot of stuff with UC children's. Chester, there's a tunnel. Reds fans there, too. Absolutely absolutely I like it. All right, but I appreciate a year coming up with some great idea, thank you. Thanks for the kind words for checking in all right Let's do this eight o'clock hour. Maybe a little bit little bit more on this, but I was asked I said last week. I I love when I get asked questions I can turn into a show topic, and now I'm blanking on what the question! No I just can't think of what it was last week that jumped turned into a pretty good topic, and it was from a listener. Oh, it was the listener who would ask you joy. Vodka was the most criticized star in Cincinnati sports history well, I got this last week from Tom Nagel and Tom sent me an email and simply ask. Do you think Paul O'Neill's ever GonNa make the Reds Hall of fame. And I'll be honest. My first reaction was I had to google to make sure he wasn't in the Reds Hall of fame. I thought Oh is Paul. O'Neil in the Reds Hall of Famer not on the reds. Hall, of Fame, the answer is he's not in the Reds Hall of fame. Here's my question that I'll pass on from Tom to you. And I have you given it I? Don't know how big a like a thought process has been involved in. This is Paul O'Neil worthy of being in the Reds Hall of fame someday. That in some more to get to after the top of the Arabic News, and then we'll rock and roll for the final hour before. Rachel is in at nine. o'clock it's Oh phone number, five, one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big one and pound seven hundred on at and T., it's arnold carriers sportstalk presented by kill Chevrolet on seven hundred wwl, W. Rachel's Infra Gary Jeff Walker he will take you nine to midnight. You know, the more I think about the foul ball idea. The more areas I think there are to expand this. From, a standpoint of connecting kids to the reds. Through not hole in little league reached out to area coaches, and said have each year your kids on your roster where the season or not send in a postcard or a note and we will enter them in the lottery. Know be like that the reds not hold baseball foul ball home, run ball lottery. That's a long name, but you get the idea where you didn't put kids. You get kids to watch and listen and. Hear their name and as its draw. You could do it that way. You could add all the kid the little league and not whole teams in Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky put them into one big hopper, and for each game pull out X. number one every three innings and say tonight's. Little League Baseball Foul Ball Game. Is and you'd read the player's name in the team he plays for and the next foul ball is his and we'll get it signed by that player. I think there's possibilities there. This question came from Tom Nagel last week. I love questions like this, i. When he asked the question was. Should, follow Neil. Do you know he said? Do you ever you think Paul O'Neil ever be in the Reds Hall of fame? And before I answered it. WHO's by email? I Will Paul O'Neil. Reds Hall of fame, is he? Is he in or is not in the Reds Hall of fame, and he's not and then I started thinking. Should he be? And! The more I think about that I I'm trying to think of moments when I say Paulo I clearly. Polo Neal's career was defined by his time with the keys. As a red I, think of the throw. He made the gun down Bobby Baena. I think his inability to hit left-handers. And I think his clashes with Paul with Lou Pinella. I there's not not not to be mean I, don't I don't think of Paul O'Neil, moments in terms of Reds Hall of Famer. Paula Neil played eight years with the reds he wanNA wring. His career batting average with the reds was to fifty nine is on base. Three, thirty six is PS. Seven, sixty, seven, which is. easiest. Easiest example of him relative the baseball, he's opiates plus one hundred and eleven meaning. He was eleven percent better than the league when he played for the rats. Is, someone who's eleven. percent had been league when they're playing for the reds, worthy of being reds hall of Famer, career for the reds, Ninety six home runs four hundred eleven. RBI's I mean the reality to me, is he? Would he was a Yankee? Any had to really good years with the reds. In Eighty, nine and ninety one those words to best years. The most home runs he hit in a season with the reg was twenty eight. The most runs drove in was ninety one. He was an all star one time he got. MVP votes one time in the eight years. He finished nineteenth in the MVP voting. In the nineteen. Was The nineteen ninety season. Now I've heard this a lot since I posed this over the weekend on my facebook page well, if fill in the blank is in, then he should be in I heard a lot of days. If Ron oester is in Paul, O'Neil should be it. I heard Dan. driessen is in Paulo Neil should be. I heard how Moore's is in Paul. O'Neil should be I. Don't know that means and I. I've never approached. Player X. Y. or Z. should be in because player ABC is in. I just when I think of Paulo. Neil think Yankees and I think Seinfeld a Seinfeld episode. I don't think reds greatness. Agree or disagree five lines open, five, one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, big one and pounds, seven hundred on at and T. eight years fourth round pick does have a ring I. I'm not I'm not besmirching. The name of politia had a hell of a career. It's just the most of that. elva career was as a Yankee. I mean look look at his career numbers and what Paul O'Neil wound up doing for a career, twenty one hundred hits, two hundred and eighty one homers, four, hundred and fifty one doubles. He won two batting titles. His opium for his career is one twenty four his career. He was twenty percent better than the league when he played. I just don't think as time with the reds is being worthy. Of the Reds Hall of fame. Take some calls on that. As well, but Tom Thank you for the the question and I have laid out to to my audience at five win, three, seven, four, nine, seven, thousand, one, eight, hundred, the big pounds, seven, hundred on at and T. let me run through the headlines If you missed them off the top couple of notes of interest today, the reds have exercised dietrich rather has exercised an out in his contract. He was, he asked for and received his release, so he's removed from the sixty man player pool and his I. Understand that once you removed from it. You're not allowed to go back into it, so the rights could not resign him no matter what happens nick. Cassiano said today. He's ready. He got hit by Tyler Molly fast ball in the back and miss the weekend series, but it just wasn't be one thing if you saw it. Oh Man, I don't know that I've ever seen somebody hidden in that spot. I think is hitting the backs like square between the numbers or unlike the fleshy part. His was hit. If you reach behind your back at the base of your neck, were that not is rate Dick. He got hit right on that and he said today on the zoom call when he dropped to the ground, he couldn't feel his arms I mean that's scary stuff. Not that don't believe in what he said today on the zoom call. I'm good to go. I'd like to see it. Because when you saw him go down, you thought well. That probably hurt square in the back. And then you hear him on that spot right there at your spine rate. I mean the damage that that could have done. And he didn't play because he couldn't get it loose, but said said he's good today. They didn't do any. Real baseball activities today. We'll see if he gets at bats tomorrow night, but that. Man Tomorrow, night the play the first back to back Games for exhibition games. He played in three perfect games on the winning side of all three perfect games, the only player in history baseball to able to say that George Steinbrenner loved him referred to him as a warrior and Yankee fans would say would tell you. He was part of the heart and soul of those Yankee teams the Yankee. There's a plaque and monument park for Paul O'Neill i. just don't think of him as a reds great and I've I've also always thought there was some. Some lingering. Don't want to say this. A frosty. Frosty relationship almost between the reds and. For whatever reason because he's never been one. How many times is Paul Neil been back for various events surrounding the ninety reds or other I remember one, but I also seem to remember being told the A. There's no chance. Paul's coming back for that so there there's something there friction wise from that standpoint I just I thought it was a great question by Tom so great I had to look up because I thought well. Maybe he's already going to remember, but upon further review I think Paul. O'Neil is a reds hall of Famer. Certainly agee all of famer he's got A. He's got a plaque. The obviously had four rings. Of course. The teams are obviously way better looking. He had four straight years Yankee. Hunter plus. He never reached hundred once with the Reds I. Don't believe it I don't know people say well. This guy made it he should be in. That doesn't matter. It's it is what it is. You're right on this. He should be the Yankees all famer. I don't think he should be a Red Shawl famer. That I mean. If you look at the stats, it's almost night and day. I appreciate golf. Thank you and you know the argument. Is that I mean it's not an argument. He blossomed when he left here and the funny thing is when he left, there were some who thought man. Paulo Neil in New York, city, and the media and the fans. The bluejays are trying to find a ballpark to play. Because candidate government barred them from playing their home stadium amid the coronavirus pandemic, the quote from an official said Canada has been able to flatten the curve in large part because of the sacrifices, Canadians made we. We understand professional sports were important to the economy and to Canadians at the same time our government will continue to take decisions at the border on the basis of the advice of our health experts in order to protect the health and safety of all Canadians, so the Blue Jays can't play at their home stadium. Travel out and come back and teams can't travel in and then leave, so they need to stadium season starts on Friday. They've considered their training facility in Dunedin Florida, which is like the best of spots to be heading right now based on. The that's a hotspot. They've considered Buffalo. A Minor League ballpark. which is there AAA home, but it's kind of a sub standard that the lights. The lighting structures aren't great. The club houses aren't really big enough and conducive to social distancing. Weight Room batting. Cages Kinda Sub-standard I. It's just in Major, League. Baseball is worried about the competitive this advantage they they already are going to be at not being able to play home. Do they want to have them in a place where the the setup is not? Up to major league standards or enough now give their general manager credited their President Mark Shapiro, and their players have come out and said all the right things to this point. You know we're. We're going to make this work. Wherever we wind up. The pirates jumped in today and said we will host you at PNC park. Now. That's great. I on the surface, the pirates aren't away all the time I mean there. There's going to be I think there were seven days where they both would play at PNC based on their home schedules, so I don't know if that would be a a noon. Blue Jays game followed by seven o'clock pirates, game or something like that, but you'd have to work that out, but there's only the thirty. There's only seven of them that would be a crossover that both play on the same day, but think about this. The season starts on Friday and there are thirty Toronto Blue Jay players who are going to have to figure out where they are going to live starting on Friday for the next sixty six days. Whether, it's themselves whether it's their wife whether it's their wife and kids and the their stuff, their stuff has to get from where they are in Toronto to some other place. That's either in a permanent a condo home the renting. That's by frighten out of the not the end of next month. That's on Friday. They need a place to play and donate a place to live. and. That has not been figured out at this point, but how about the Toronto Blue Jays playing in Pittsburgh at PNC park in and around the pirates schedule all right back to the phones about cell phone and we go. Michael Welcome to sportstalk. Loria what do you make of all this? Year. The Canadian for could've give the bluejays a little bit more heads up on that. Yeah I the Blue Jays. We're waiting thinking like a last minute reprieve and the conditions would be better, but that has not happened. So, what do you think about this foul ball idea? I will see your sellable and I will raise one yeah. Okay. Do you remember and I don't know thread. Still do the throughout, but you remember the like the skyline step of the Mike thing to do you have a kid at the start of the inning would announced. Who's The leadoff batter? Yeah. Okay. Why not have like like literally guys? That during any and then fell about all. They get that by ball. will be I mean the kids can't be in the perks how they're going to make the announcement Berko Berkeley. I see what you're saying. We could, even in theory have them record? You can have a bunch of them. Already in storage like different players doing each kid gets a different name I. See that yeah, you could, you could punch that up on the scoreboard, and it could be Johnny from Madeira, who now batting for the Cincinnati reds, the first Baseman Joey Votto, or you could even have his team literally team standing behind the kid cheering once he announces his name. I mean that's what I was thinking. What you maybe prerecord, yeah? ooh, bad yeah. To wear, the kid would say now. Betty the first baseman. Rod and then real quick on the Pollen Neil saying yeah, I think Neil more of as a Yankee red. Yeah. I agree with you. I think his and again. He wasn't I'm certainly not saying. He was bad as he was, he was. Decent to good as a red. He was great as a Yankee and I. Just I think as a Yankee Hall of Famer so? On your empty animosity between him and there is the way he was treated by giving Boden and the trade. Maybe may maybe there's probably a couple of layers to all of that. Michael I gotta run. Thanks, Buddy. Good here, no good hearing from me, Matthews Sale and now he's on seven hundred wwl W, A. Good how are you? Hey now to. This piggybacking off of your idea basically but. Masa is, makes this poor hands on for the kids and yeah. Basically you have your idea where you can still bid on the foul balls, okay? But with how kids are today? Electric I'm thinking. Create an APP for the kids. To where they can log into their half, and you see their active. and. They're actively watching the game. They're checked and maybe your percentage to our ten percent of. You know everybody to twenty percent for KS eighty percent for your business. And then that kid wins the foul fall in what you could also do. Ten Kids my South Ball. They could have Indiana where they submit their videos. Still saying hey. My son, for instance go. Hey, my name's Eli. I like. Joey votto foul ball, maybe pretty cool I like that because what we're doing years. The reason I thought of this to begin with I just watched the ball just kinda trickled down the stands over the weekend with nobody there and I thought man that experience will be missed this year. And then I said so we we gotta be able to do something to tie in the reds with kids and raising money for the reds community, Fund and I just think. Is You know in? In a typical real in a typical game, the reds, you're never going to get that ball back with fans in the San Suu in this case, take advantage of the fact all those foul balls will come back to you. Hand them out in some way shape or form you put smiles on. Kids faces, and in some parts of it. Raise money for your community. I think everybody would be happy. Apples and I I. Love You I love your angle of the APP and tying in with a connecting to the game, watching the game listening to the game, and if you're doing that, we're going to reward you with an opportunity for a foul ball from that game. You are watching. That's a win. Win Getting kids watching baseball absolutely, and you can have a banners on on top of the screen for your safety I'd say bike from so and so just want us out ball, and then right before you cut to a commercial, you can have a video of child thing. there. I I like it Matthew. My thought it'd be cool if it went if they do something for all of them. That'll be to where you could actively have something forever. Yes, a network connection between kids and the game. Absolutely. Yeah, thanks, Matthew I mean he makes a great point. I mean they should be league wide thing because every ballpark is going to have how many somebody look up the average number of foul balls hitting the game into the stands that now we're going back to the teams. Turned into something I. Don't WanNa. Say profitable. Yeah, turn it into something profitable in terms of growing young fans Finley. We go John Welcome to sports talk. Day Lance how you doing good. What do you think about Paul O'Neil? Hall of fame for the reds are not. That's a that's A. that's such an interesting topic. Because there'e right off the top you think about all, said well. Yeah, why not, but then you back and He really didn't do that much with them. He had like you said he was okay with the Reds I. Think even by a good chunk of his career. He was kind of a platoon guy. Yeah, yeah, for the reds and yeah, he. He did pretty much everything actor after his days in in Cincinnati Fars on the major league level. Him. He hadn't tapped into things while he was here. It clicked for him once he left and Kudos to him I just don't think hall of Famer for a franchise. It never really kicked into gear for Ya. Absolutely and and obviously like you said with him a kick from right field. Remember him that and you know the guy that I kinda I kinda run a little bit parallel to him. Although all had a lot better career with the reds in this guy did was member Edwin Encarnacion yes. Yes. He was with the reds. It was like we couldn't get rid of him fast enough and actually the Blue Jays I. Think released him. Then when he got when he went back to them, it's like the light switch went often that guy. What's he have like three or four hundred career home runs him over four hundred. Not He had a phenomenal career after. Cincinnati, but like. His is number. Block better, but yeah. And then just one quick quick. It's art for me. It's hard for me to believe that that blue. Open. John I lost you we'll. We'll pick up the blue jays thing tomorrow night, but you were in and out of that I lost. We'll head down the stretch. Squeeze in on this date and our things up on. Sports, presented by Kill C.. Seven to six ten inning win over the pirates at league park with help from the fans according to the ground rules of the day. Pirates leftfielder Elmer Smith was permitted to jump into the outfield stands to retrieve a ball hit by Germany Smith, of the reds and attempt to make a play. But when he went into the stands beyond the Homerun the outfield wall to get the ball, the fans heading down. His. Centerfield teammate rushed over to help. The outfitter slugged their way free, but quickly vacated the premises. What a fan displayed a revolver in the outfield stance. Smith scored in the reds won the game. Not Making it up this day. One thousand, nine, hundred, sixteen, the red swing, a deal with the giants, they acquire Christy, Mathewson, ed, Ralph, and Bill mckechnie Matthiessen pitching just one more game, and then became the reds manager. I know exactly where I was on this date. Two Thousand and one when the reds traded Michael, Tucker for those two cubs, players I was doing a remote broadcast from Dave and buster's and try county, and why remember I just remember think I was on the scene at Dave and buster's. The news broke just before I went on the Air I. Remember scrambling to figure out. Out What it could find about Chris Booker and Ben Schaefer a couple of cubs prospects of that time. By the way Jay wrote a very good piece. which is a sentence that is redundant because he writes good piece but he wrote one about Joe Boroughs parents. Getting a chance to watch him last Thursday in Cleveland. When they did not get a chance to watch him in person and almost didn't get a chance to watch them on television when he made his NFL debut against the chargers Bengals Eagles on Sunday. We'll talk with Jay about the peace and so much more when it comes to the bengals coming up at about fifteen minutes plus it's Thursday it's football season Chad Brenda bearcat journal Dot Com on you see an army on Saturday we'll take a look at the game from last weekend when they took on Austin P. and ask a couple of questions about what lies ahead for this football team and maybe get to a college basketball issue or two as well though we'll start. With my Guy Trevor Bauer I don't know what lies ahead for for Trevor Bauer and the reds I don't know Trevor Bauer we'll get a chance to pitch in the post season. I would be surprised if he doesn't I feel really good about worthy. The reds are heading into this weekend they have a lot of work to do. They have to do it against Minnesota, team that as of this moment still has something to play for and has been great in their own ballpark. But let's face it. I. Think compared to where we were about a week and a half ago to now going into the last weekend of the season signed me up for this. This has been an immense amount of fund over the last couple of weeks and. It would require a monumental collapse and you know monumental collapses around here for the reds to not be playing on Wednesday, which means Trevor Bauer at some point I guess depending when he pitches this week and if he does pitch this weekend is going to get a chance to pitch for the reds in the postseason. I don't know what lies ahead I don't know if he's going to be on this team next year that is obviously a big topic among a lot of reds fans right now and we will spend time on it today. Here's what I do know I will never forget last night I will never forget that pitching performance last night. That has put him maybe as the front runner for the National League. Cy. Young award which it is kind of remarkable. When you think about it, the reds have never had a CY young winner. They've had a bunch of dudes who have finished in the top five in voting. They've had some guys who have been in consideration thing Johnny Cueto two, thousand, fourteen, they've had nobody win the award which is Kind of interesting. It's not that surprising when you think about how their best teams have been largely more defined by position players. But Trevor's got a chance to end that drought. But would he did last night and granted he had some offensive help. He had some early offensive run support. Thanks the Joey who we're going to talk Joey votto today. But that pitching performance last night. In what basically felt like a must win game on three days rest do does out there fans twelve gives up four hits even when Milwaukee tagged him for a run in the fifth inning, you never felt like he was out of control or he was about to lose control of the game. The Dude is screaming towards home plate. He's strutton off the mound. That's my guy. I will never forget last night. I don't care how this season ends up I don't care how far they make it in the post season I don't care what happens with Trevor Bauer. That is a pantheon performance as far as I'm concerned, throw everything into the mix. The fact that they had lost the night before the pressure to win that game the pressure to come up big in that game. Think of how we all feel today about the reds enter chances heading into the weekend relative to everybody else in the National League if they lose that game last night. Dude goes out three days rest. And dominates the Milwaukee brewers. I'll never forget that that is that is a pitching performance is having a conversation with a buddy of mine late last night about is that the best pitching performance since win dot dot dot. And he brought up to me Rio. Game Four, one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety and I tend to go got Arroyo game to two thousand twelve people forget because they lost the series and also they scored a bunch runs. But that was an awesome pitching performance health for what it's worth. homer. Bailey was great game three against the giants. Nobody remembers it a because they laws because because they've decided they hate homer Bailey there've been a handful of others that were good pitching performances in one, thousand, nine, hundred, five but man with last night's on the list as far as I'm concerned. There's a handful of regular season games. That I think carry the kind of way that you talk about them. Five ten years from now regardless of how things end up, that will be one for me. I will always remember Trevor Bowers. I'll remember two, thousand, twenty season. I will remember last night. Here's Trevor. After last night's six one reds win over Milwaukee. Trevor. Looks like he went out there tonight with something to prove not only to yourself. But to the rest of the League said, you are the CY young. Award winner in this team is going to the playoffs on your back. I don't have anything to prove myself but you know my track record on four days is pretty bad. About that. Yeah Big Game for me personally but more importantly for the team Playing at. I mean, really a playoff series adversaries right now for us the playoff series. So Aso, so encouraging the guys come out. After yesterday tough loss didn't get down came out around the yard today Tucker talking in a great job behind the plate. Really really turned the game around throwing Garcia out there in the first inning it's a huge swing. Engulf from being three to at potentially to on nobody out. To US throw the guy a second, and then strike out to somebody on that really settled me in so. Cancer could things about points. About going back to that sticks dinning. Yeah. They get the air get guy on the debate said you got I third nobody out in the middle of their lineup and you take all three of them, Yelich Jerko and mogul back down on strikes. Awesome. Yeah. At that point that's that's a huge turning point in the game to I didn't very easily spiral like my night could have been done. But the DJ came out on a good meat and got me locked back in and then. I got that little adrenaline kick and. Turned out pretty. Well. Did you have a little grabbed air warming up in the seventh inning? Looks like you had a little thing with your leg or something Ashley little a hamstring cramp that's been. Consistent all year normally wait till after the game to cramp up but Everything's perfectly fine. Nothing abnormal trevor just would it mean to you to the pips? Oh, well on short rest is kind of a story line coming into the game. Your first time doing it this year. Yeah you guys in the media worrying about me going on short rest. What'd you guys tell you guys don't speak from? Just, feeling like I can do this I know. Like I said having proved it to myself. So guys can. Back off on that storyline now but it was it was good i. mean we needed to win and? We went out there and put together a full team effort. That song. Get one of the bats will. Talk to a great behind the plate, guys made some Nice plays in the field. So Mental not to that series inputs put ourselves in a really good position. to do what we set out to do this year, which was the playoffs, and then once you get in. Anyone's ballgame. So we're we're trying to get in and then see where the cards fall I've got nothing to prove to myself Trevor Bauer by the way leads the National League in era strikeouts era plus and walks hits per innings pitched. He struck out one hundred batters in seventy three innings and walked just seventeen. And Look. I think it's kind of easy to forget Trevor Bowers read last year was not very good. Ten starts a thirty nine you kind of forget because some of those star took place while not that many people were paying attention but he was maybe not the biggest question mark and the team this year but he certainly was one right from our came to Cincinnati. Last year did not pitch well, Trevor Bowers two, thousand, nine, nineteen in its entirety was nowhere close to as good as it was as he wasn't two, thousand, eighteen, this year abbreviated season. He's been even better. He was fantastic last night and I know we're GONNA, spend a lot of time talking about Trevor Hours Future. And how the reds can keep them and what it's GonNa take to keep him and how much money he may cost those good conversations to have hell. I wrote a one thousand word column about it over the weekend. But. It's it's easy right now to fall in love with Trevor Bauer. WHO's an absolute stud? And I will always remember that performance last night. Talking to last. July. Thirty first that was not a trade I was sitting in this chair the day that deal got done. That is not a deal that was met with universal praise. First of all there's a lot of people who loved yes. yelp week. A lot of people and I get it I. Love Yes. yelp week. So a lot of people who want the ranch to go ahead and respond yes. Yelp week by the way that take didn't look bad this offseason when the reds were having a hard time finding rightfielder. and gave up tailored from L.. WHO's a young man that we've had on the show a couple of times who I love. Thank. God they did it man. That is that is a maneuver that's not easy to make. You gotta take on seventeen million plus for two thousand twenty. You Open up a hole in your system because Taylor's from L. was highly regarded and might end up still having a really good long big league career and I don't think yes. yelp week was ever coming back to the reds in two thousand and twenty. Confirmation this offseason the reds needed rightfielder before they signed the Castanos it never appeared that they were GonNa look at or think about getting help week give them credit for making a deal that involved doing something that's hard to do doing something that a lot of people didn't want them to do. Trading. Away a prospect. They effectively, if you think about it traded homer Bailey. Who now is not scheduled to pitch this weekend against the reds in Minneapolis the effectively flipped homer. Bailey for Trevor Bauer. Yes. They got four months worth of Ucla Week and yes kyle farmer has a pretty useful utility. Guy Is still on this team and Yes Matt camp was here for a month and I've already forgotten Alex would pitching for the reds, but they effectively flipped homer Bailey, for Trevor Bauer. That's pretty shoot maneuver pretty shrewd maneuvering and the it did cost a prospect. But as much as we fall in love with prospects as much as we fall in love with these minor league is sometimes you got to be willing to do it. I'm very happy they did it to get Trevor Bauer. And now we'll talk about what lies ahead for him in his future with this team and what might lie ahead for him over the next couple of weeks. But regardless that performance last night, we should be talking about that for a long time. Because as much as he's dismissive and understandably. So He's a guy with a lot of confidence in himself. He has long maintained. He's better with three days rest. The track record of guys doing that is not very extensive in recent years and. The stakes were enormous last night. The margin for error was wider than it's been for some of his starts this season but he was fantastic and he vaults the reds to. Even closer to a postseason berth and maybe more than anything else granite will try to figure out how the the rotation is going to be manipulated this weekend and when he may pitch if the reds are playing next week but Regardless of their opponent regardless of venue, we've said this for a while now even at the depths of late August early September when it appeared like the reds were not gonNa pull themselves out of what felt like a season-long muck. Can. Just somehow get in. Going to have more than a punchers chance because their starting pitching. And the last time the reds were in the postseason granted different atmosphere fans were allowed obviously. I. Watched Johnny Cueto get rattled. I watched him drop a baseball on the mound I. watched him I watched the moment be too big and I love Johnny Cueto. The circumstances are going to be much different in the postseason. You're not going to have forty thousand people training anybody's name. But the moments not going to be too big for Trevor Bauer. Seventeen minutes after three o'clock phone numbers were wide open today five, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen, thirty, eight, six, six, seven, oh, true three, seven, seven, six, I have a lot of questions for J Morrison about this game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles and frankly the questions have less to do with Philly more to do with again what we saw on. Thursday and how this team may change on Sunday. We'll do that and your phone calls coming up this. In the aftermath of the bengals game in Cleveland about Joe Boroughs parents who well before Joe Borough even was taken by the Bengals we kind of turned into stars and they finally had a chance to go watch them in person after not being able to come to the first game against the chargers, they had a chance to go to to Cleveland to watch the Thursday night game. The thing that I was most impressed by Jay is the fact that Joe Boroughs mom was at work at seven fifteen the next morning in Athens. That's work ethic that I can identify with. It's amazing and they told me that ahead of before when they were planning to go up there and I was like, wait a minute what You think you're the principal number one you're in charge of the school. You know is something going on there where maybe this this turns into an AJ green situation from last year, and it's more of a more of a business decision than an actual medical decision don't WanNa. Don't WanNa make that accusation yet of Gino but it's just it's surprising because the medical staff would know when the injury happened when when when they would expect him back roughly and if they if they'd expect him to miss three weeks, surely would have put him on I are and they didn't do that. So now now those questions are out there about what is going on with his shoulder. Mike Daniels was back at practice today. That's a good sign at least adds some something back to that defensive tackle position and then Sean Williams looks like he's on his way back as well. but. Nothing, nothing major at the at the moment. So we focused a lot on the the poor run defense especially that that last Cleveland drive where they just go seventy, five yards in six plays two minutes handed the job handed to Kareem Hunt run down the bengals throat that that to me defensively. Obscured the fact that the pass rush was non existent I. Know You're better. If you have Gino Atkins, you're better if you're more solid up the middle I, do understand that. But for team that has guys like Carlos Dunlap and Lawson, and Sam Hubbard after a breakout year last year the the lack of pass rush against Cleveland to me was startling. In. Kara. Lawson. Brought this up when we talked to him on. In the week that you know if you don't stop the run that just really reduces the effectiveness of the pass rush but still there were there were some plays in that game where they were obvious passing situations and they just they were not getting there and that that is a big issue because that's that's the one area where you thought this team would really excel is is what the edge rusher they have, and then you mentioned Gino even dj reader for being known for a stopper. Has the ability to get in the backfield and kind of force push the pocket, and it's just not going on right now we're gonNA talk to Lou in a room. Oh, a little bit later today and and see what he says about what these issues are. But that the inability to get after the quarterback and the inability to stop the run, they're not gonNA. Win Any games that they can't do any of those. I know you guys had a chance to talk with Aj Green today you were there in Cleveland watching him, they targeted him thirteen. Times they complete three look he's he's working back from a year in which he didn't play. He talked about learning the system all of that. We do get that at the same time. He's thirty, two year old wide receiver. Those guys often do lose a step as somebody who was watching in person and had a chance to to be there to watch every route that he ran. What do you make of the suggestion that a lot of people are making that perhaps Aj has has maybe lost if not a full step at least half of one. Yeah, you don't want to say he's lost it yet, but he's certainly trying to get it back and whether he will or not that. That's the question that remains to be seen. He doesn't look like the same Guy and when you we've seen in the past where they struggled to get him going so many times they would the defense really has to respect him and they they play off quite a bit and you will see them through those. You know one step quick outs to him just to get his hands. On the ball if he can make one guy miss great and then you know you're looking at ten twelve yard gain if he doesn't it, it's a it's a decent three four. It's like a long run or it's like a run an extended run and they haven't even been able to do that because I, the defense aren't respecting Aj the way they used to their their up on him. You see more press coverage. So it's it's gotta be something to watch as we go to see whether he can get that step back. Not, just get that step back but get in rhythm with with Joe, borough and It just seems they've had a couple of shots on deep balls just been a tick off. You like to think that maybe that is rust and the fact that Aj only had a couple of practices with Joe because he sat out a much so much with the hamstring issue you lose. CJ. Yuzawa at Tida Andrew Sample did. Catch. Some passes last Thursday which frankly coming out of the draft we were kind of wondering if he could do that he may be is featured in a more prominent role. Wide Receiver Higgins more snaps than Ross last week, Auden tate was inactive his fires off Zach. Taylor handled that I thought pretty diplomatically this week. How do you expect the Domino's to follow this week in Philadelphia among the past receiving targets? Yeah it's really going to be interesting to see who which of these wide receivers is inactive and and Paula debated this on the podcast today and we we have a hunch it's GonNa be John Ross he just hasn't brought anything to the table. He doesn't give them anything on special teams. Auden can play special teams and on takes plays when they come his way, and then that just has not been true with John Law so far as far as the the other targets. I I do think this is a big chance for drew sample. He had nine targets and seven catches in Cleveland on you look when when I talked to our Philadelphia writer about what's going on with the Eagles Zach Dermot he he talked about how they just have this glaring hole in the middle of the field that they were. So we'd get linebacker and that opens things up for for a guy like drew syncopal your last week the rams tight end tyler higby three touchdown catches. This this could be coming out party for drew sample even though seven yards was a career high last last week, it was the short check down. He could really play a big role in the offense this week the podcast here that podcast growl and with J. Paul deandre. Booking now for skype zoom telephone and in person. This is why we need the reds in the playoffs. This is why we need the reds to make run. Why we need the Bengals to maybe win a game because this is the stuff that's coming our way. We have a lot of time and a lot of segments and a lot of lot of lot of space to fill. Don't make the right this person back and say, Hey, we love to do a telephone interview with your guest on. National Cheese. Actually got this email from two different people. There's two different reps at agencies representing PR firms I should say representing. Jeez. Carl is in Hebron hi. Carl. How we don't? I'm wonderful. Yourself are good. So I talk to you like July and ask you whether you thought there would be a team that would benefit from buying a week division an account went though you think that happened and also with the starting pitching of the reds the Indians do you think they can go deep in the playoffs? Yes. Yes both yes. With the starting staffs that both those teams can can roll out there I believe. So I worry about the reds in an extended series forget the wild card in an extended series where your offense at some point might have to carry a bad start have to carry you to three or four wins in a series that worries me given the inconsistency of this team's offense and the National League Division series. In the National League Championship series are GonNa play going to be played without any off days so the LDS will be five games five days that means somebody besides gray custodio or Bauer is gonNA have to make starts for you and those could be games that you absolutely absolutely have to win. The Indians I, it's It's interesting to me. I would've I would've loved to see that team in the postseason with Clemenger who got hurt today. But shame. Bieber obviously is a CY young candidate. You can run Carrasco out there. You can run please out there I mean there's there's a lot of different options. So yeah, I absolutely believe the Indians can can make run. I think both of them really can, and you know they only have to worry about as game here and there, and with with the reds with Bauer, and watching over the years I think he would be the guy that you bring back a little quicker than than most i. don't know who you would do it there for for the Indians on there but just a little bit offense with the way that starting bitching. Is I think even gets helps them in a bigger series? Yeah. No. I. Agree with you Karl. Thank you and answer the question about playing against weaker teams I mean, look let let's not kid ourselves. This whole thing jump started when they won four straight against the Pittsburgh pirates and know the Philadelphia phillies don't get a chance to play the Pittsburgh pirates and the Miami Marlins don't get a chance to play the Pittsburgh pirates but nearly. Every. Division in baseball has a DREG. If you're in the National League West, you've had a chance to play this season a bunch of games against two teams that have winning percentages below four hundred. The Texas Rangers are terrible. The Arizona diamondbacks aren't very good if you are in the National League East Okay Nobody Expected Boston to be quite this bad but you still have had a chance to play the Boston Red Sox and in. Your Division The Washington nationals have been massive underachievers a season after winning the world series. But yes, there were some inequities created. The reds quite frankly didn't take full advantage of those inequities. Early in the season, we made a big deal about how often they were gonNA play the Detroit Tigers well, they only one three of those six games against Detroit. We made a big deal about how often they were gonNA play the Kansas City royals. The only one to four games against Kansas City, and it's not like they were great earlier in the season against the pirates before that four game series the weekend prior a PNC park daily into a four. But yes, sure there have been some inequities created but pretty much everybody has had a chance to play a bad team. The National League West still has a chance to have three teams. In the postseason. The giants and the padres dodgers have each have each had a chance to beat up on the Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers right now have the worst winning percentage in the American. League. Believe right now with the the second worst winning percentage of all all of baseball. But Yeah, look they gotta get there and we're focusing on a wildcard series. I can't discount any teams chances if they have Bauer and grey and Castio. What worries me about their chances is the evaporation of offense that we've seen at times this year. And as much as there are people who get mad at me for saying this, there have been a lot of times this season where it is felt like it's not even felt like it's been reality that when they don't hit home runs, they don't score. Now Akiyama is getting on base a lot more frequently than he did early. But I do worry about that David Bells Enga- managing at times this year has left me scratching my head. In important games with no margin for error that are likely to be close. Is there going to be a David Bell decision that backfires? I wonder that I give them a chance. There's always randomness to the baseball postseason. I mean I, don't. I can't think of a reason season were I looked at a team in the playoffs and said, they have absolutely no chance. Frankly probably, the last time was the twenty ten reds because it just felt to me like that offense was not up to the task of facing the starting pitching that the Phillies we're gonNA throw at them and that really did end up being the case that felt like a major uphill battle. And the starting pitching on that team was not yet at the level. The felt like this team could pull off an upset in a five or seven game series, and if you go back to two thousand ten, not to make it about the two, thousand, ten reds, four, five days before game one against Philadelphia, we were still debating who pitch in the playoffs against the phillies probably the last time that going into October I thought man, this team has absolutely no chance winning a series. Yes, they do but you get to the LDS the. Reds. Are Good Enough and lucky enough to get there. Are you going to be able to win a series where you don't have the off day to help you manipulate your rotation where you know you can use Trevor Bauer three days rest and you can skip over using somebody like Tyler Molly or somebody like a Wade Miley if he were to choose to give him a start or a Michael Lorenzen. There's a really good chance. You'RE GONNA have to use if not five pitchers and full rotation at least four. which were tyler molly comes up tyler molly pitches tomorrow against the Minnesota twins. There is a decent chance that whether it's in the wildcard round depending on how things pan out with their pitching this weekend or later in in the postseason at Tyler, molly is going to have to make start. There have been a number of really encouraging starts this season from tyler. Molly. But in a big game against a good team in a ballpark that team has been really good in. What does telematics do? And let's face it. If this thing goes to Sunday, in the reds still playing to get in the postseason, and now maybe you have to use Trevor Bauer again or you have to use some combination of Bauer and grey and you do get in. And all right. So now Wednesdays the wildcard game. Castio, could pitch on three days rest game one maybe you would prefer not to do that, and so then Molly's the guy game one or somebody else or it's Lorenzen or bullpen day. So there's still some stuff that has to be settled. There's no guarantee that in the wildcard series if you get there. That you would have Bauer and grey and Castio ready to pitch all of them. Now, if you use Bauer on Sunday and you don't use great at all this weekend, he will go into the postseason with an abundance of rest and you could use him game one and then slide casteel and regular rest for game two, and then come back and have Bauer if he pitches Sunday in game three but who knows when they're going to sonny who knows that they use both on Sunday? Who knows if Sunday's game really means anything? Tomorrow is a big start for Tyler Molly it's obviously a big game for the reds quarter to four. Chat Brendel not Chad Millman Chad Brenda we'll talk bearcats V army with US next. Since you ask. Nuggets Lakers? Four tonight. Airing on ESPN radio gary nothing. Jab Brenda was here he is. The owner of Bearcat Journal, DOT COM and. Also this week in the host of Cincy three sixty filling in for Tony. He is hosting that show by himself tomorrow because. I'm off and. He's also not Chad Millman who I put on twitter is joining us three forty five. I'm careless chats here Chad brindles here on twitter at Chad Brenda. How's it going? Good I was worried I did something to upset you this afternoon. Yeah. No I. Mean I just wonder if like Chan millions a guy, he's like a gambling guy he's one of these like. Forget what publication he's with, but he had on the show before he's an accident our guy. Yeah. So I've him on this show before I hope he's not waiting by the phone ready to give me some sort of gambling nugget on using an argument. Could be dangerous. I thought maybe the picture of the Mo Mike Windscreen. Upsets me that people use my windscreens than have my name on them. Let's talk about the Austin P. Game it sort of to me when almost according to script I wish they would have been a little bit better against the run but by and large, they got off to a fast art offensively the offense I thought took pretty much what Austin PD gave to them. The game was never really competitive. was there anything to take away from game? One. About what I wanted to see, I wanted to see be accurate and effective in the passing game. I. I would like to have maybe seen a little bit more to the wide receivers but the without Al appears like that's a that's a pretty new bunch I. He didn't Miss. A, wide, open deep ball, Jay Sean, Jackson that would've made those numbers look even better. But other than that. I often thought I saw what I wanted defensively yeah. They were a little rough the first drive of each half but other than that they were really good when the first and second team guys were in the there's probably a rough film session on Sunday for this third and fourth string guys. The the freshmen did not have a great showing in their in their debut but. You know that was I give. Austin. Be a lot of credit there. They got their their teeth kicked in the week before. and instead of quitting they finished you know that was their last game of the season they played hard for sixty minutes. So I saw pretty much what I wanted to see out of both sides of the ball things to clean up I. Mean I think ultimately like? That's almost what you want is to win in convincing fashion like that but still have a couple of things that get under your head coach skin. So you've got plenty to work on. The next week and It gets very real very quickly as we head towards the Saturday. and. We'll talk about this Saturday I thought in Luke fickle said, this said this to us in the in the post game show said it to to you guys in the post game media, session, the energy, the team in a weird set of circumstances pretty much an empty stadium. It appeared to me that they created their own energy that really wasn't a big deal and also I'll say this in this era where games are being played in mostly empty stadiums having a marching band makes a world of difference. Yeah, there was at least some energy in the stadium I thought the parents were pretty good I mean they're not as. As loud and rowdy is is a you know a bunch of people that have been drinking for five hours on the grid but the energy was pretty good the the ban more than anything I think gave it some normalcy. To where you know in between plays and and and on time outs and things like that. It didn't. Without them it would have been eerily quiet even with pump in crowd noise even with. You, know music being played. It just wouldn't have felt right without the band in the dance team there and the team itself. You know we talked about why you know part of why we expect this team to be good is because They've got a lot of experience. They've got a lot of guys that have been around and played a lot of football and I think that came out in their ability to demotivate themselves. And and then bring their own energy into the stadium without fans dope. Army won two games. They've completed three passes total in those two but they've run for eight hundred yards. We're going to see the triple option when Navy wasn't on the scheduled start the season I thought. Well, we're not going to get a chance to watch the triple option. Now, we will army has won two games over schools that nobody cares about how significant of a challenge do they pose on Saturday? Playing. The triple option is always a challenge. What I think is is being missed when people talk about this game. Everybody wants to talk about the triple option. Nobody wants to talk about the army's pretty good on defense. They were top thirty in the last year like this is not a team I. If you go back to that navy game two years ago. and I said this on our podcast last night. That game was able to dominate because they jumped up quickly and that takes navy completely out of you know what they WanNa do when you're on the triple option when you're trailing. And I think it's going to be much more difficult to get up to three scores on army. Even if you are able to limit the triple option they're not going to be a team. You've just marched easily up and down the field on so. That's kind of where my is. That is is UC's offense versus armies defense because we know the triple option. You win against the triple option on first down I think. you. You put it at a disadvantage if it's first second eight second nine second ten. If. It's consistently second six-year in trouble. 'cause then they've got you right where they want you. They're not afraid to go for it on four town This is a team to their first game of the season hitting nineteen play ninety, nine yard almost thirteen minute drive. They will if you allow them to stay ahead of the sticks. beat you three yards at a time all the way down the field. So. It'll be interesting for me. We saw in that game against navy in two, thousand, eighteen, eight, completely dominating performance by two guys that are are in the NFL and of course has brought. Markey's Copeland do they have that type of talent or do they have that type of performance in them from the guys that'll be playing defensive tackle and if they do and if they can find a way to move the ball against armies defense, I think the spread is probably about right on this when I might. I might think it's more of a ten to twelve point game but I right in that you know ten point fourteen point range is where I think you see Wednesday night. Yeah. I've seen it thirteen and a half bearcats and army on Saturday kick off at three thirty in meanwhile the USF game is at least somewhat in jeopardy because they're stepping away from activities because they played Notre Dame which has had a covert outbreak they've got positive cova test it's worth pointing out unless there's something happened today that I haven't seen USF has had no positive press. What is being said about the status of what is supposed to be at least on the schedule as of now the open for the bearcats. It's GonNa, the those tests for USF, the way that the teams have been doing this mostly as they're testing Monday Wednesday. And then either Friday or Saturday. Morning you see is doing the the saliva testing on Saturdays. That you get like you know fifteen minutes and you get a result Because of the in this is from talking to people in in that that world. Because of the incubation period of the virus. The Wednesday testing is the most important testing of the week in relation to the game you played the previous week. So you know your Monday task even if you had it on Monday if you if you got it on Saturday, you probably won't test positive on Monday. But you would on Wednesday. So USF paused everything because those Wednesday tests had been taken. They are awaiting those results I would anticipate at some point that we would hear. What those results were does concern me a bit that they went ahead. And postponed our. Game? Saturday. that tells me they might have those tests back and they are letting us know what they say and it's not great. But as long as we don't hear about a rash of you know positive that South Florida I think. That game should happen but. I. I'M ALMOST AT THE LAKE MEMPHIS as the Memphis played one game got a party bus and they haven't played since poor Houston has had five games canceled on them. US F. is going through this now. The AC and we knew a lot of these teams were in hot spots. A lot of these games were going to. Be in question and we're getting ready to start the AFC schedule and There's not a whole lot of them that I like the unfortunately it's unfortunate. Navy's not on the schedule because I would look at the navy game and go you know what that game's going to be played. Yes. I come Quickly I got a minute here watch the grail on Saturday. Yes absolutely watch party at the grail it will be on ESPN. So Five TV's good times and three thirty at the grail. Ruble Montagne some blueberry beer thirty go. All right. I'll see you then man. Thanks. All right. Thanks about Ted's websites bearcat journal, dot com in he is on twitter at Chad Brendel. The reds. Have a magic number of three. which. Means Joey Votto is on the verge? We'll hear from David Bell Reds are off today in Minnesota getting to take on the twins in the final regular season series of the year magic number at three three. There are games to pay attention to tonight. We've talked a lot about Trevor Bauer and look I wrote about this over the weekend. When when Trevor Bauer came to Cincinnati He hid already in a piece that was done in sports illustrated prior to last season among a number of things that he said that we're I opening to a lot of people. One of the things he said was I'm only interested in signing one year contracts. That's all I WANNA do for the rest of my career and he doubled down on that when he came here and I took that as The students got a lot of confidence in himself. You've come the Trevor Bauer over the last year plus thirteen months whatever it's been this dude has a lot of confidence in himself he values winning. and. The whole one year deal thing for me is great. It's great from this standpoint from a reds perspective. Okay. Cool. So all I gotTa do to keep. You. Is offer you a one year contract. Where's the great peril when it comes to paying pitchers? It's not one year deals. It's these homer badly type contracts five, six, seven years where you pay a dude into his years he's no longer in his prime I have no interest in paying. Trevor. Bauer huge money when he's thirty, five, thirty, six, thirty, seven years old find a take him at his word and he's allowed to change his mind. But if I'm the take him at his word. Awesome, all I gotTa do is give you a one year contract from that standpoint. It's great. Hovering over all of this is the massive amount of uncertainty. That exists in this sport financially, and these are things I don't like talking about you don't like hearing about them but they exist. Look the REG. Are Losing money. They're. Not GonNa. They're not gonNA. Tell you exactly how much they don't have to would, but they don't have to. They're not going to tell you exactly how much this isn't hard that they can't sell a ticket. This is a business. Yes. They have media revenues coming in but she Chunk of their bottom line comes from selling tickets they've sold zero this year they're losing money. And most of expensive guys do not come off the books that if you add up if if Castanos ops back in this year, they got something like eighty six million dollars committed to players who salaries for two thousand twenty one of have already been determined. We're not even talking about the arbitration guys like Castio and winker and guys like that who are going to get pay raises we're not talking about additions from the outside. So they've already got a lot of money committed they're losing money that that's that's a factor in all this. But the one year contract pledge for lack of a better term to me. Also opens up competition for Trevor Bauer that if he's really looking for one of those Garrett Cole multi-year Deals Clayton. Kershaw. Multiyear deal. Heck. A homer multiyear deal if that's what he's looking for there's only so many teams that are going to be willing to do that. There's only so many teams especially in this climate that can do that. The. One year contract thing though I think there are more teams depending on where they are financially that we're looking at trevor and go. You know what? For a year? We can do that. Hell we're close. We can add this guy add into what we already have especially if we have expanded postseason next year which I hope we don't, but we do have sixteen teams next season I wonder if there's a team because you know what we're Trevor Bauer away from being an eighty five win team and if we win eighty-five Games we're in the postseason if we have Trevor Bauer in the postseason, will we're a tough out in the postseason? So there's a lot of different dynamics here a lot of different dynamics. I just ask this when it comes to replacing him if the reds indeed need to do that next season. Let's say the reds get to the playoffs. And then when the wildcard series and Trevor Bowers big reason why? and. We look at that and go okay I. It's a little unfulfilling because I think the idea this season was to get to the League Championship series at least. But what at least they finally got to the playoffs and they finally advanced now in two thousand, twenty one, we have to build on that. It's a tough sell to say you know what? This guy who was very much responsible for us getting to the postseason and this guy who was very much responsible for us winning in the postseason. Now, we're going to take the next step, but we're doing it without him. I think that's going to be a tough sell. I think that's going to be really really hard. Who Do you got? That's better. I know. Tyler Molly is taken a step forward this year another one hundred green in the pipeline, and you still have Louise Castio still have sunny gray. What do you got? It's better than Trevor Bauer. And Louise Castio is still years away from free agency. He's GonNa get a pay raise this year. He's not going to break the bank. He's not gonNA make. Trevor Bauer. Tight money in your one of arbitration. The sunny great deal. We loved it when they signed him because it was a team friendly contract right going to average it about ten. Mil. Tyler Malley still isn't making any money hunter green here. Next year isn't going to be making any money. So decent chance you're GONNA Knock Anthony these companies money off the books Wade Majlis eight million next year as manageable. The sum of all their salaries for their starting pitchers I don't think he's going to be that huge in that exorbitant that you can't justify giving Trevor Bauer whatever the dollar figure is I don't know if it's twenty, five million I don't know if it's thirty million I don't know if it's forty two I don't know. I duNNo. I just know that if a big part of this off season, let's say the reds get to the playoffs, but they don't win the world series. And then we spend the off season going okay. How do they build on getting to the postseason but not winning the world series? Leading a guy walk who was a big reason why you got to the postseason assuming they do letting guy walk who was a reason why you maybe WanNa series in the postseason I, think that's going to be tough man. I think that's going to be hard. And by the way, there is there is something about Trevor Bauer beyond just executing pitches that I think right now matters a little bit. This dude connects with people. This guy wants to pitch and big games this guy has shown and maybe this is why it's going to get done. This guy has shown. A degree of affection to this city that in a town like this man people just latch onto. And it feels organic and it feels not contrived. That dude I watched last night, I couldn't wait to take the mound. And you're going to have to drag him off the mound before the eighth inning ended last night. And he brings a fire to the proceedings and he brings a personality today and he just I don't know how you let that guy go I. It's one thing if he says, you know what I'm GonNa cash in now I won the Cy Young Award, which he certainly in the running for. So what I'm GonNa do now is take a deal where I can go make two hundred and fifty mill over seven years. Okay, we're not gonNA do that fine. But. If, he holds true to what he has said. And he indeed is only going to sign one year contracts. And you're really about being all in next year. How do you not do that? There was not a maneuver that the reds have made and they've made a bunch of good ones also made some that haven't worked out but there there's not been a maneuver. The reds have made over the last two years that has more clearly pivoted them in a specific direction than when they acquired Trevor Bauer the off season moves they made this year really didn't pivot them. In any direction they were inevitable. You don't you don't trade for Trevor Bauer get rid of a prospect that you value have this trio of starting pitchers and then not do it. The reds did this off season the Trevor Bauer. Maneuver pivoted them in a specific direction and let's be honest. There is a really good chance that next year offensively, they're not going to be great. Let's. Let's let's be honest about that. Are we ever going to get a forty nine home run season from? Suarez. Again, as Joey Votto GonNa hit in a season that he's GonNa Turn Age thirty eight is he going to go back to be in the Nevada we used to get What kind of player over one hundred sixty, two games, Shogo Akiyama might miss dacas a year old I mean there's the strength of this team. Next season is probably still going to have to be at starting pitching while there are other guys that can be a part of that. Lie Tyler Mel what do you got? It's better than Trevor Bauer. So I think I think his case is a fascinating one. Because again, the two caveats a franchise hemorrhaging money, they don't want me saying that they're losing money. Be. Trevor said all along I. Want One year contracts. So it's a different type of pending agency for a guy coming off possibly a CY young winning season. But no matter what happens in November. No matter what happens in the off season. I said this at the top of the show I will never forget watching him pitch last night I will never forget that performance. In the in granted, it's a checkered recent history in the recent history of this club. Let's just say the last thirty years. Because of the stakes because the three days rest. Because of what was writing the game because of them losing the night before the personality that he showed because of this franchise is desperation to get to the postseason. Because, they're always being some built in skepticism or you're wondering about the other shoe dropping. I will never forget that start last night. That is one of the best individual performances volts him. Maybe as the clear front runner for the Cy Young Award it is one of the best pitching performances in this clubs last twenty, thirty year history and I will never forget it. Sixteen four. Your phone calls are welcome at five, one, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen, thirty, and eight, six, six, seven, zero, two, three, seven, seven, six. I. Want to spend a few minutes I wrote something about Joey votto this week as well. There is not an athlete I've talked about more over the last thirteen years the Joey votto Andy, Dalton Carson Palmer Aj Green. Any reds player any sports figure then Joey votto. But there has been something that has loomed over Joey. VOTTO entire reds run. We're GONNA get to that coming up at five, oh five plus more on Trevor Bauer here from but I. The Philadelphia Eagles are when the schedule came out, I think a lot of us thought in the first four games. This might be the least winnable well, Carson Wentz can't complete simple passes. The offensive line can't block anybody and the Eagles look like one of the NFL's biggest messes we go to Philly next. Rda Corporation presents football in the ninety brought to you in part by Papa John's pizza on ESPN fifteen thirty the official home of the Bengals Jones on baseball's thirty minutes away on ESPN fifteen thirty. Later in the show, you'll hear from Aj rain and Joe Mixing. We'll talk gambling as well and a lot more on reds but I tend to Philly be there on Sunday, for a one o'clock game against the Eagles you'll hear it live on ESPN fifteen thirty my buddy John Marks does. Radio on WIP and Philadelphia he does afternoon drive radio, which means he is stepping away from his show to be on mine. He is on twitter at John Marks. Media? You know it's funny. Last time you and I talked on the air was two, thousand, sixteen the Eagles were miserable. The bengals were miserable. The Eagles have gone through the cycle where they've now won a super bowl now fans and failure miserable. We're still waiting for the misery to end but it's funny that Super Bowl I wrote a piece saying I wanted Marvin Lewis to start coaching like Doug Peterson. And now from what I pay attention to in Philadelphia. I'm not sure I want Zach Taylor obviously replacing Marvin. Lewis to coach liked Doug Peterson. Yeah it's interesting People are wondering if Doug had doug didn't get lucky in two, thousand, seventeen, he coach he got he was on a hot streak and he very well as playcalling was excellent. He had balls right? Like he took it right to bill check he like there's the sound from the super bowl with the rams and the Patriots where McVeigh, before the game is just kissing Bill Bell Checks Ring Doug Peterson wasn't doing that he was not scared and he knew they could beat them and they did I don't know what's happened since then right I, think you're getting a combination of with the eagles. Getting an aging roster of guys that won the Super Bowl that are way past their prime and some younger guys that are just being drafted now. But ultimately, when you look at the eagles drafts, they've been terrible and when you start having to fill your holes on your team with high priced free agents, it's really tough to do you need younger inexpensive guys and they haven't done that so far. So and and on top of that, Doug's kind of gotten a little. Stale. The West Coast offense he was running three or four years ago I mean the NFL changes quickly and I think that maybe he needs to adjust some things and fresh and some things up. But right now it's a little bit of a stale product. The quarterback is struggling I think doug struggling to yeah it's remarkable I for a lot of people here to hear you say that coach want Super Bowl three years ago is stale after we did Marvin Lewis for sixteen. staleness. Yeah a lot of saying I know that you guys can't relate it. You know it's funny when when when there's a lot of negativity about Carson Wentz and there's you know you'll get the idiots on twitter or even calling into the show that trade. Carson Wentz put in. Jalen hurts whatever else and then you'll see other fans from other cities commenting I'll take. Carson wentz I'll take Carson Wentz GIMME Carson Wentz In the second, it's always going to be like that, right so like with Donovan mcnabb like Donovan mcnabb was not love here by the majority of the fans he was for a lot of different reasons but he was a really good player. But when you had that guy and you're kind of getting sick of them, it's easy to say give me somebody else but Carson, Carson struggling this year. So you know it's Funny on our midday show they actually they were going a twitter poll and they did it as a topic earlier. Would you rather have Carson Wentz Joe Borough and I'll take Joe. Borough. I think he's a young star now in the in the bengals organization can they heard him? Of course they can but he looks like a star young starring Carson Wentz kind of looks like. He forgot how to be a star. All right. So let's talk about that. Specifically for picks the first two games he's being asked or or the coach Peterson's being asked about easy throws the Carson is missing Peterson snapping back at reporters. Let's talk about these first two games there has been regression from the guy that we saw a couple of years ago specifically, what is Carson Wentz? Well I think he's caught him between and he was a guy that had never thrown interceptions. I get seven interceptions. Last year he is. He's very good with the football and he's turning the ball over. He's always fumbled. That's always been a problem. He holds the ball long. So he takes a couple of more sacks because he he sees an opportunity to make plays because of his athleticism but I i. Think. What you're seeing with Carson wentz is he's in between being the the player that he is, which is athletic, which is aggressive, which is I can make any throw and doing what the team is telling him which is, Hey, you know don't hold the ball that long you're taking sacks hey, you've got to be smarter with your throws don't take that chance take with the offense gives you 'cause Nick Foles was The offense gives you and you want a super bowl in a short time as Eagle Star in two thousand seventeen. But he took what the what the defense is giving. He took with the offense was going to give him and Carson Wentz isn't that kind of quarterback he's not a game manager. So I think he's trying to be that for the coaches. At the same time he knows he's not that player and they're not using his legs There's no design runs for him. He's not breaking containment and making plays with his arm via his legs right? Like he's excellent outside the pocket he's actually more accurate outside the pocket did he is inside the bucket he's not a pocket quarterback and they're they have them. Camped out so much back in that pocket, it just doesn't make sense. So the long answer to what you asked is that you know, of course, once it'll be fine, he's got to get out of his own head because right now I think he's thinking too much instead of plane. So last year he throws for four thousand yards there wasn't a wide. Receiver correct me if I'm wrong there wasn't a wide receiver that over five yards receiving there was no one on the outside to throw to Deshaun Jackson I think is older than me. They tried to get marquees good when he ops out before the season starts Thursday rookies, there's dudes who played quarterback in college. Is there anybody for Carson, Wentz to throw to? Yeah, the the old Sean Jackson like you mentioned, they drafted a rookie wide receiver jalen regular in the first round who actually is going to be pretty good if he can stay healthy because so far, and we're only through two games. He tore a muscle in his shoulder during training camp and he tore a muscle in his thumb. He's going to be out there approximating at seven seven weeks now. So he's missing half the season so that mean they're trying I, yes, right. But but like you. said they re so the eagles run a lot of too tight end. They've two very good tight ends and Zach ertz Dallas Goddard Unfortunately, that's not the NFL in two, thousand and twenty they ran I believe it's sixty eight percent of their snaps they two tight ends on the field the next closest Arizona with thirty one percent. So they're clearly running a different offense and no I think the reason is they just don't have the guys right? They don't. They don't have the wide receiver so. Just like last year, they didn't have the wide receivers this year you gotta ask yourself unless you're plotting down the field in eleven twelve play drives, how you scoring they're not a quick strike offense or not a big play offense outside of Jackson. So it's is going to be that guy otherwise you're going five, six, seven, ten yards at a chunk. Offensive Line, they give eight sacks against Washington week. One is that Washington's pass rushes very good. Is that went holding onto the ball dulong? Is that the offensive lines as what? What what do we attribute that to? Yes I. Think Washington is is that good? Yes. Carson Wentz was holding onto the ball too much. I. Think that I think if you're being fair three of those sacks of the eight, we're probably on Wednesday where he could have easily throwing the ball away. He held onto it for too long but last week they gave no sacks and they were playing. The ranch and Aaron Donald and all week leading up to the game we were saying Oh Aaron Donald a Carson wentz is going to get killed. He give the Eagles give once act and it was three quarterback. So yeah, I think it was one second then there's definitely three quarterback hits. So the the the answer is the oftentimes great last week and I'm. GOING, forward, they've had some injuries and they've gotten some guys back. Lane Johnson, there right tackles back I don't think the offense line's going to be an issue. I don't know much about the bengals defensive line and their defense isn't very good. But for the most part, there are pretty competent offensive line at this point. The jalen hurts thing is, what's what's the plan with him is it is it to get him snaps at quarterback. If when struggles in a game, the eagles are favored in at home. Is there any chance on Sunday? We see JALEN GETS NAPSTER, behind center. I would be shocked and maybe outside of a trick player too I don't think that would be wise because what the eagles have done by drafting quarterback in the second round is treated quarterback controversy tour of Carson wentz struggles. Then people are going to be calling for Jalen hurts and that's already happening. Right? I mean we're getting tank for Trevor Hashtags during our show. Trevor Lawrence Trade once. People people go crazy when his team loses so. I don't understand it I. Mean you've second round draft pick where you know middle of the second round towards the end of the second round where you can you can get a guy that can contribute off the line has no depth. They have no players on defense. They're very they. They have very little, very little talent on defense. There's no playmakers and yet they draft the quarterback and they'll never have enough good quarterbacks I mean are yeah. Sure. All right. But like just paid Carson wentz one, hundred, eight, million dollars. So why would you do that I would be shocked if killing hurts had any real significant roles outside of a decoy or maybe like? One or two plays you know where he's do trick plays or something right? One More John Marks WIP Radio Philadelphia Jason Kelsey is one of many former UC football players who have landed in Philadelphia, and so many of them have had success Trent Cole I think a brand Celik. Jason Kelsey, has become a perennial pro bowl caliber center playing for the Eagles whereas he listed in the Pantheon of eagles greats. Wow and you're right as far as Trent Cole was amid round draft pick and he's one of the best defensive ends in Eagles history. I mean I think he's second all time in sacks and Brent. Celik is also like an all time eagle part of. Twenty. Seventeen Super Bowl and Jason Kelsey. You know what he is. He is 'cause it's it's funny. There was a time probably in two thousand and sixteen where people thought he was done because he had a bad year and people ready to trade him. Eagles would've traded him because his salary was pretty high and he wasn't very good. He's getting pushed around. He was a little bit light and everybody's ready to trade them and they didn't and he came back and won two thousand, seventeen his speech at the parade where he was dressed in the show and the mummers costume and he's cursing he's dropping f bombs will live in the history of Philadelphia forever and Jason Kelsey. Though the playground will be opening soon, it was delayed due to cove it, and then we're also building a soccer field there and the goal is to build three baseball fields there that will be all inclusive but constructed to meet the needs of the athletes with special need. Still Ahead, we've got our buddy study from the action network in about an hour we'll talk bengals eagles specifically with him in a couple of other NFL gambling things and the Trevor Bauer start last night has put the reds in a position where now Joey votto can perhaps No, longer be associated with something that is I think always kind of over his career. We'll do that coming up at five ten. You'll hear from Trevor Bauer after last night start, which I will never forget also a little bit from Aj Green as well. But I it's week three for fantasy football owners, which means our buddy. Dan Class SKAINS joins US next on, ESPN fifteen. Cincinnati. Sport station although. Called Injured Reserve in the NFL, and there's a thousand guys on I around the League which impacts fantasy football owners so good time to bring in our buddy Dan class skains get sports. INFO DOT COM. The place joins US every Thursday for fantasy advice. He is on twitter at Dan classrooms. What's going on? Trying to keep up with all these injuries bio I make good. I don't think I have a fantasy team out there and I've got a lot of teams. I don't think I have one hasn't lost at least two or three players at this point. Yeah I. So I have I have one of my two teams were every single running back I have is dealing with some sort of injury whether it's Saquon Barkley season ender we'll talk about injuries and further detail here in a second or other guys who are just missing practice week I there's not A. A sixteen team. Sixteen. Round League. So I'm pulling guys that I'm not even sure if they're in the NFL anymore to fill the roster this. Yes, it's one of those types years. It's interesting. A Lotta Leagues expanded their covert Nineteen Yeah expanded their I r rules because it coke and nineteen, and the I. R. is being used for these injuries because of lack of pre-season but it's called rickles out there by weeks we'll start soon and we'll have to. Have, keep figuring things out but not before we get to the injuries, which is going to be the chunk of art the biggest chunk of our conversation beyond that. GimMe, some of the story lines that you're paying attention to, as we head into week three. I think one of those storylines is on display tonight and that's Gardner Menchu and. I did target him as a late round quarterback. I mean I was expecting Jacksonville actually be a lot worse than they were and there'd be a lot of garbage time production. Only, project win four games there on pace to do much better than that. Mentioned is a big reason why completed forty, nine at sixty, five got five, twenty, five, hundred, twelve yards, six touchdowns, stores, I, two games I like it again tonight, I've got him in my tenth ranked quarterback here week number three. So we'll see if he can keep it going the guy I'm really excited about a quarterback does Josh Allen and The Buffalo quarterback is just getting it done through the air where he's actually been pretty accurate, which has been his biggest struggles, but fifteen or more. Throws downfield fifteen and nineteen on fifteen plus throws downfield four, hundred, twelve yards. Two touchdowns are spreading out and all. Yeah. He's just one behind every singled area rushing attempts. So true fantasy stunned speaking of fantasy studs Calvin really is wide receiver number one right now, which sounds good print Lanta. Julio Jones the guy that was drafted. Well ahead of him been disappointing there's been a little bit of a hamstring issue but flat out disappeared in the season filled with wide receiver injuries. Police actually stayed healthy still disappointed. All right. Let's do injuries. I could probably drive home and you'll still be talking about injuries by the time I get there but go ahead. The big one to know right now, just broke within the past couple of hours is tonight shark the top receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars has been rolling out what they chest injury. This could just be the case of short week as long-term I'm not that concerned his targets year was already down even mentioned he's been doing a lot better but look for Levinsky should note the rookie to make a splash tonight. Keeling coal but shark owners will want to get him on the bench and then you look at the rest of the receiver position I imagine Holy Johns I think you'll play through it but he's dealing with a hamstring issue as is devante. Adams. They both have practiced mildly this weekend Kenny holiday he hasn't played off season his hamstring injury. I'm holding out hope he returns this week he's starting to make some progress. Last week, we talked about Portland Sutton and shoulders you making a game time decision any blows out me on a tackle of an interception against Pittsburgh, his season's over now. So Rookie K J Hamblur suddenly on the Rod biggest receiver injuries, Michael Thomas and they missed last week with a high ankle sprain they're talking like you might come back this week I would bet on it I'm not banking on it. I'm planning otherwise found the Thomas owner and then you gotTA AG at ground with the parents Campbell with the both those guys are are going to be out for multiple weeks still, and then you get into the biggest the injury. The week you mentioned Saquon Barkley done for the season, and here's here's a guy that has played barely played any games last year and now just playing a game and a half this season and it just sucks in elite players go down like that. Even if you don't have your team and Christian McCaffrey, the number one pick in the draft pick everybody was just ahead of bark but he's out four to six week with an ankle injury he's on I. Are you got most of their with San Francisco's Mike Davidson Carolina? Interesting waiver wire up a short term solution there who knows what's going to happen for the forty niners back because? Also or looks like Jerick McKinnon GonNa get a crack maybe jeff then rookie camp acres for the rams also dealing with an injury there. So Durell Henderson who started the season injured now healthy looks to be the. Binding player running back, receiver healthy the challenge right now, and it doesn't get any better tight end of quarterback George Kendall miss last week with the knee. As you practice today, he could return I the giants this week, but he's not one hundred percent and then the quarterback for the forty niners Jimmy. Garoppolo likely to be out with an ankle issue got through lock, for Denver out with a shoulder issue. tyrod Taylor he didn't hurt himself punctured it publisher punctured him and I don't know if get back as opposed to be funny but it is. Just An. Amazing. Patrick Malm. So the future looks bright for the chargers but I mean we didn't even talk about about about thirty feet injuries and Right. Now, it's a battle that attrition just take it one week at a time and I think more importantly, never debts might end up winning fantasy leagues. All right. If there are any players left to start and sit who should they be I love. David Montgomery this week. We talked a little bit about in previously here in the season and he really delivered last week against Atlanta getting the volume and that's what you need right now I'm expect in sixteen to twenty touch against one of worst defenses in football and that should equal top fifteen day also love the Onta- Johnson of the steelers I loved him all preseason he's delivering on it far I didn't talk about Juju Smith Schuster but yeah, the practice in two days with Andrew Johnson. Zone did practice today I think he's GonNa blow up against Houston big band and the steelers get another dub there to start their season and then we're going to sit Ronald Jones mainly because Leonard Fournette has overtaken it top match-up against Denver defensive still has some pretty good thesis on the Road Jones you can't play right now and was looking pretty good. Last week is my pick or as one of the players I like, but then a fumble be never got back in the game and lettering for took over. So that's not good long-term. Ingram. Mr Drop sees the giants looking for somebody to step up and against injured forty nine a defense. He might be the guy that I have zero confidence my benching on every game and at this point and open to letting play way back in the lineup. Dan Class Skins is on twitter at Dan? Classrooms get. All right. There you go. Hey. My Name's. This is ESPN fifteen thirty. Thank you for listening. What? You'll hear AJ green in about fifteen minutes. Some thoughts Joey votto was he possibly gets to appear in the postseason for the fourth time. We'll talk some bengals. Eagles. Bengals Eagles gambling with our buddy stuck from. The action, network reds are off during the bubble in Minnesota, the teams this week that. At least had a chance to go in the postseason basically stopped when there are in home doing their normal daily routines and they all went into a bubble. So I saw the the president of baseball operations for the twins. Minnesota is twenty three and five in their home park this year. One of those games. By the way, there were the road team because of a makeup game. If you're wondering, wait a minute, they're going to play three more games that thirty one that's why twenty three and five at target field this year. And I saw a piece on MLB DOT COM from the president of baseball operations of the twins who said, we attribute our success at home to the fact that guys are just going through their. Daily routines plus they also have a really good team. Now they're staying at a hotel. It's kind of like a road game for them at least in terms of were, they're sleeping stuff like that. So we'll see if that lessons at all their home field advantage this week regardless of what happens in Minnesota this weekend regardless of whether or not the reds make the postseason and I think we all have to feel pretty good about where they are right now regardless of what the reds do if they make the postseason regardless of what happens this off season with Trevor Bauer. I will never forget last night. I know in terms of impact it wasn't a clinch miss. It wasn't a clincher. It didn't occur with fans in the stands it wasn't a postseason game. We sat on the show yesterday though that that game last night, that's why you trade for Trevor Bauer that's why you do it. The trade paid off last night. It wasn't just that he and the reds won a game through all the factors surrounding. That was as close to a must win game as you could have without being a must win game in the regular season. Then lost the night before. Can you imagine how we would have felt today? The, Minnesota, where the twins are really really good. Can you imagine how we would have felt today? Had they lost that game? And yet dude goes out there on three days rest he has talked a lot about how good he thinks he can be on three days rest we needed to see it. We saw last night eight innings, four hits twelve punch outs had a chance to pitch from a head. Dude was just doing it is I I'm not I'm not prosaic enough to be able to completely articulate how much fun it is to watch him compete. and. I mean pitch pitches the stuff it's always sets up hitters. It's how he puts away hitters but compete. Like that dude stocks around the mound with a purpose that guy wants the ball that dude is is screaming when he striking out guys and he's he's strutting off the mountain I mean, yes. They got some help winker Suarez. Votto hit home runs. It legitimately felt like Trevor Bauer said last night put the team on my back. We're GONNA win this game score for me what you want do for me what you want defensively I got this I love watching him compete, and while I certainly hope that Trevor Bauer gets a chance to pitch on an even bigger stage this year and while I certainly hope he has a chance to pitch for the reds beyond this season. Last night I'll never forget that last night. I will never forget watching him by the way he's in the CY young race. So a chance to make a definitive step, not just for his team toward the postseason, but to being the reds I cy young winner ever. Dude went out there last night and he was he was dominant. I'll never forget that last night by the way Trevor Bauer as of today leads the National League in. strikeouts era plus and walks and hits per innings. Pitched Dude has struck out one hundred batters in seventy three innings and walk just seventeen, and by the way it's gotta be pointed out coming into the season if you and I were to sit down and jot down some of the biggest questions we had about this team, we thought the starting pitching could be really pretty good. But a caveat was you know Trevor Bauer two months here last year not so good era and the sixes gave up a lot of home runs. He was not the guy we had seen the year before in Cleveland has wasn't the guy had been in Cleveland the previous four months that was a big question coming into the season. How good is this guy going to be? He's been arguably the most valuable read here he is after last night six one reds victory. Trevor it look like you went out there tonight with something to prove not only to yourself. But to the rest of the League that you are the Cy Young Award winner in this team is going to the playoffs on your back. I don't have anything to prove myself but you know my track record on four days is pretty bad. About that. Big Game for me personally, but more importantly for the team Playing at. I mean really a playoff series every series right now for us as the playoff series. So so sunk urging the guests come out. After yesterday tough loss then get down came out of all around the yard today Tucker talking to the great job behind the plate. Really. Really turned the game around throwing Garcia out there in the first inning it's a huge swing. and Go from being three to. Potentially to on nobody out. To. US. Throw the guy out a second strike out to our liberty on that really settled in so. Can't say enough good things about talkline plates not to. Go back to that sticks sitting. Yeah. They get the air to get a guy on the base you first and third nobody out in the middle of their lineup and you take all three yellow Jerko and we'll go back down on strikes. Awesome. Yeah. At that point -at's that's a huge point game too i. didn't very easily conspire on my mind I, could have been done. But the came out I can meet and got me locked back in and then. I got that little adrenaline kickin. Up Well. Trevor just what it mean to you to show well, on short rest is kind of a story line coming into the game. I I'm doing it this year. Yeah you guys in the media worrying about me going on short rest I. Would you guys tell you as I don't speak from? Just the feeling like I can do this I know. Like I said I don't have anything to prove to myself. So hopefully guys can. Back off on that storyline now but it was it was good. I mean we needed to win and. we got out there and put together a full team effort. That's you know that's one of the bats well. Talk to a great job behind the plate, guys made some Nice plays in the field. So Meant a lot to to get that series. Win Puts put ourselves in a really good position. To do what we set out to do this year, which would make the playoffs in it, and once you get in it's. Anyone's ballgame. So we're trying to get in and then see where the cards fall. I just loved the self confidence. I love the public self confidence, and by the way the few times this year where he is. Taken it in the short term pitched poorly. You don't you don't. You don't get the sense that confidence is wavering, and let's be honest here in terms of we always talk about athletes connecting with fans. If you are a reds fan if you were a Cincinnati Sports Fan. Be Be honest with me. Be Honest with me. What's the one thing that at times we lack? Confidence. Why do so many of us revere Chad Johnson. He was a great player. There's no getting around. Matt. But didn't he make a lot of feel differently about being bengals fans in the mid two thousand. made it seem cool. Gay fans reason to stick their chest out made the bengals cool. I think the word swagger is overused but but gave fans swagger. There are different types of people that play different types of sports trevor bowers doing that. Like, if you're a reds fan, you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop you're always waiting for the worst possible outcome. I mean, even even last night I will admit to you I was sharing texts with somebody last night. Or yesterday afternoon before the game and I said man, there's there's a part of me. Just I'm waiting I'm waiting for the rugby pulled out from underneath. Here's the start were Trevor Bauer gives up like seven runs in two innings. Because this is what you're used to. He went out there last night. The short rest thing is maybe not a big deal for him athlete noses body. I'll defer to the athlete there because out there last night with a lot of reason to think that maybe. May maybe he's not going to pitch the way. He has all year long that Milwaukee Lineup frankly is weird I have no idea what's happened to Christian Yelich. Who for two years was arguably the best player in the National League and now looks completely lost at the plate. He went out there was dominant man. And expressed his confidence in himself and his team both. During and after also I guess before. that it feels like it's rubbing off on people man. We've also briefly here gotta talk about it. We we've been caught up in this discussion about what's going to happen with moving forward and whether or not the reds are going to keep him. I wrote about it over the weekend. I. Think it's going to be hard to. Take them seriously if they say, Hey, we're taking the next step to contention next year we're GONNA try to win the world series. They let Trevor Bauer get away but let's give them credit for acquiring him because that wasn't easy man and by the way I remember sitting here the day, the reds acquired Trevor Bauer that wasn't met with universal praise. There was a lot of. League. I GOT HIS JERSEY. Yeah they. They let go and what about Taylor from L., or this guy is going to be a great prospects by the way legitimate gripes. Off Season Hey, they should have never traded plea because they can't get a right fielder and this is before they got cast Janas at somewhat the last second. That's not an easy deal to make. That's not an easy deal to make when you're trading away a guy that a lot of people viewed as your second or third best prospect Taylor. Mel. Who is a really nice fun engaging kid intelligent on the show twice and he's among my favorite people I've ever interviewed. Like I hope that dude has a ton of success. But boy, we fall in love with trading with these prospects. Sometimes we fall in love with what they can be. Sometimes you gotTa, you gotTa go for it man Trevor Bauer more than any move they've made more than any move they've made over the last couple of years. There is not one that more pivoted them in the direction of trying to win. This year that acquiring Trevor Bauer Yes for yes yelp wait. Let's be honest. Yes. He was never going to be a red in two thousand twenty maybe he should be maybe they should have tried to sign off season. He was never going to be read in two thousand twenty. They didn't even try to give him a long term deal they got they got. To be an upgrade in right field and wake the fan base up, they were never going to do it. But it's not easy to trade away a prospect like that at the trade deadline when you're not in the hunt in that year and you're trading for a guy that you get for one more season that if you get him, you know you gotta go out and do more work in the off season. That's not an easy deal to make and yet Taylor from being a great major leaguer and he could come back and beat up on the reds at some point. I find whatever it was worth that deal was worth it last night. That deal if there were any doubts about that trade, they were completely erased last night. I gotta be honest with you. If you would've told me this season well, even before covert before the season was truncated. We're GONNA watch tailored. Chanel. Progress through the system or you can have a cy young winner for one season. Signed me up for the CY young winner for one season who is maybe more responsible than anybody else for putting this team in contention. I. Know I know we're already getting to the point. We're GONNA, crush the reds if they let trevor. Bauer. Get away fine. The I will do that if they let him get away. But if you're gonNA, do that, give him credit for getting him. Give them credit for trading for him. Give them credit for doing something that's not easy and by the way, if you look at big picture, you talk about some of the great maneuvers in the history in the recent history, this franchise and there have been some. Heinous whereas. Louis Casteel Sunny Gray? Trevor Bauer who was effectively acquired for Homer Bailey. HOMER's traded for League camp farmer Alex would. They. Got Four okay. Months from. Yes. Alex Wood was always hurt Matt camp was here for five minutes farmers still on the team useful utility guy. Who Are Bailey is a guy they couldn't wait to get rid of. I believe this. Wholeheartedly, they would just cut homer Bailey bottom out. Moved on Homer Bailey was never going to pitch for the reds in two thousand nineteen. The reds got effectively. Possible Cy Young Award winner for him. That's really really shrewd man that is. Homer is probably not going to pitch against the reds this weekend. I. Don't really care about homer. Bailey. If he goes on and has success find, he doesn't. I don't I don't care. But they basically flipped homer Bailey bad contract pitcher whose usefulness here had long since expired who they were going to get rid of anyway they flipped them want and then they took the guys they got one of the guys they got for homer the headliner in the deal for a dude who's got a shot to win the Cy Young Award and who may be more than anybody on this team represents their chance to advance in the postseason. That is that is really really good book I. Beat up on the Reds Front office as much as anybody that is really good work by Dick Williams and nick crawl. Really really good work. Twenty minutes after five, o'clock five, one, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen, thirty. And Eight, six, six, seven, two, three, seven, seven, six, at Mo Egger fifteen thirty, which is where our Cable Academy poll question is it's about the reds and postseason positioning. It's a simple question. Would rather be the eight seed, play the dodgers in a best of three where you got beat twice or. You're a higher seed. You get the dodgers later assuming they advance but you gotTa beat them either three times or four times. Sunday at one o'clock live on ESPN fifteen, thirty, pregame coverage nine five. These next two games are huge for Zach Taylor I. Think these next two enormous. They've got to get a win at some point man I mean this we're we're trying to find out if this dude can coach. This is not an inexperienced team quarterback play has been fine. These are beatable. Teams Philly has been an absolute mass, the Jaguars we're going to watch tonight they'd been better recently, and their offense is actually fun to watch Jay gruden's Guy Gardner minhsiu throwing the ball all over the place, and it's been pretty effective but. Due to get the Ravens and the colts, the browns and the titans after that, those are not going to be easy games and we don't want to get to a point words and four and five and six, and it feels a lot like last year man and by the way this Gino Atkins thing is weird. This is a big big big big next two games for Zach. Taylor. I mean as much as we walked out last year going dude I'm not sure if he's the guy or not. You know given the benefit out last year was not really his fault give him a pass. At some point, you gotta start posting some wins. These first two games have been winnable, and by the way I think they've got a good shot on on Sunday. Philly has known to throw to Carson. wentz has been abysmal offensive line has been a mess. You worry about Mile Sanders but I mean. I believe what they say about shoring up their run defense I, know what's happening without Gino Atkins a big big big two games for Zach Taylor Oh boy can't go. Oh informed and get people feel like he's the guy at some point you gotTa Start Winning Football Games. One Guy who could help them do that would be AJ Green Aj has. Struggled the first two games to look like AJ Green. There are reasons why at least we think here is the. bengals wide receiver chatting with members of the Cincinnati football media. Earlier. Today, you anticipate more protests across the league during the national anthem this weekend. I think this is bigger than just protesting. I think. Bigger than the flag. Bigoted and all that. So I know that people can be angry on you know just. Just, how things this and how can we change this narrative? About black people. So I guess like I said as always starts. From the ground up. Now got a long way to go AJ joke joke earl made mention of first couple of games you guys have played against. They've played soft coverage played pretty deep made. A lot of underneath stuff are you on a greenwood that and where do you guys anticipate out of the Philadelphia? Eagles Yeah you know they want a lot of defense play not giving up the big play so. We. Gave on so I think it's changed week week. So if the just game as You've never gone the site I? Think this is only the second time you. On back to back, you haven't anything more than fifteen yards. It looks like you guys are planning a box idea. How do you break out of that AJ? How how do you? How do you get a big play that? Forces. The place that we missed. By, inches. In Cleveland in semen. back home I'm so. Right, there like I said, we just gotTa keep working. Or we know you know I missed a year and a half, and then coming into new often. So we still we still got a lot of stuff to work out myself still gotta get you know some things are now. How much is just kind of missing the timing of of not having three season games and kind of doing this on the fly with Joe I know you can do some things in practice, but obviously, nothing simulates a game. Of. Course A new quarterback new. You know first time in office. We know off-season. No preseason so We got a wreck us not to be on the fly so. Get got a group of guys. GotTa keep working on to get better on this little things mean joke that'll meet together. We go of a lot of things to you know what? He see what he liked, what I need to do better. Ejei when you watch yourself on film the first two weeks of the year what do you see kind of evaluate your play a bit for me I'm just I'm still rusty stowed sto. Learning the system still trying to get comfortable and someone who said I'm running. Just. Little. Things like that and I knew it's going to be you know the growing pains but you know I wanna be great and I accepted Ellinson for me is all I. All I know is keep working and I know you tweak. Reds, magic number is three heading into this critical three-game set against the twins. There are games that mattered to the reds. The giants are playing this afternoon actually remember Kevin. Guzman. He pitched for the reds for like five minutes. He is on the mound right now on the mound right now for then I. Say he's on He's on mound. Kevin Guzman is pitching for the giants who lead the game three, the two in the top of the sixth inning that game is being played in in San Francisco but by the way that the Chicago cubs have sort of decided to limp to the finish line here. They have. Just finished losing three out of four to the pirates. Beat by Chad cool today seven nothing Pittsburgh won that game at home. Member Chicago was seventeen in three. There are now thirty two and net reds cannot catch them. They lost the head to head tiebreaker. The most reds the most wins the reds can finish with is thirty two. So no if you're wondering the reds cannot win the division against against the cubs but they have they were seventeen and three, and now there are thirty, two, twenty, five. So that's. Fifteen and twenty two cents. Also Tonight Games of consequence the Saint Louis Cardinals are home for the Milwaukee. brewers. For The reds are on top two to nothing. About that Tommy Thrown Jeff Brantley pretty much calling it on the Reds Radio Network and seven hundred WWL W. I draw a little bit of a parallel between Aj Green and Joey votto AJ. Green has been on better teams. More good teams I should say then Joey votto has but. Among all of the things that I hated about the Bengals last playoff game, which is becoming further and further in the distance. Was Aj. Green was robbed of a moment that should go down in bengals history. As one of the greatest moments in the history of the franchise. His touchdown grab from UNA. Pass from AJ McCarron put them in. The lead would be celebrated to this day. I would have a photo of that in my basement. Right next to the photo of David Culture Intercepting Jim Kelly and the eight AFC championship game, and by the way I might be the only human being alive who has that photo framed in their basement signed by the way from David? But anyway that should be conic moment and instead it's a footnote that should be AJ Greens moment. And maybe he'll get one or be in a position to have something similar that actually stands the test of time at some point during whatever's left and has bengals tenure I wrote about Joey votto this week. Joey has had needless to say a remarkable reds career. There's no getting around it. He is soon to eclipse the three hundred home run mark. He assumed soon to eclipse the two thousand hit mark. He is among the very best players. The reds have ever produced and I'm not just talking about in the last twenty or thirty years I'm talking about ever Joey, votto is going to have a compelling hall of fame. Case my guess quite frankly is that he's not going to get in. But there are going to be a lot of people who do vote for him to get in, and he still has time to pile up some numbers that perhaps solidify his chances with. More traditional voters guardless. John. Has Been An awesome Cincinnati red. But whether it's the people who just don't like Joey votto for reasons that they never really can't articulate. Or the folks who simply resent the money that he makes? Or the mere fact that he's been on mostly losing teams. The, one thing that is a alluded Joey votto who's been here for thirteen years. I mean think about that Joey votto made his his reds debut George. W Bush was still the president of the United States. Right after Labor Day two thousand Sept think about how long ago. That feels. Two thousand. Seven. Antidote Dalton was like a freshman in college football. The dudes that have come here been a big part of this town since. Our guy made his reds debut in two thousand, seven, September two, thousand, seven, hit a home run I think in a second that back. He's been here for a long time. He's been on three winning teams. Now is the fact that Joey has been on mostly losing teams his fault no. On some really awful teams. Joey Vodka was great. He should have been the MVP two three years ago on a truly terrible team. In two, thousand, fifteen, the reds were awful. They lost ninety games, Joey Vodka was awesome. And when the reds hack chances to be really really good in two, thousand, ten, Joey was the MVP the League in two thousand twelve joey was fantastic and in the playoffs that year again, San Francisco. He got on base eleven times in five games. He hit three, hundred, eighty nine he's not a re. He's Not v reason why they lost. He did have some big at-bats in that series. Games, the reds loss but still. Joey has. been a reason why they've won when they have one but unfortunately for him, they haven't won all that much. Joey votto is running out of time. He is I mean let's be honest. He's got three years left on his contract, but the clock is ticking for him in terms of him having a chance to be a big reason why the reds are really really good. Who knows if the reds are in the postseason next year? Who knows if the reds are in the postseason Wall Joey's here ever again? But. I do think that there's a lot of people who sort of identify him with losing. Not because he's a loser, not because he's the reason why the reds lost, but he has thrived in an era where the reds have not one. I mean, let's let's be honest for a guy is good as joey the idea isn't for the peak being. To playoff game victories against the San Francisco giants in two thousand twelve that's not the idea here. In this town it like most veer winning, we will take an athlete who is not great and put them at a higher place because they were on teams that won. Paul O'Neil is still settle celebrated in this town. Paul O'Neil is a red was a fraction of what he became a Yankee. But he is still revered by a lot of people in this town because. He was on the ninety team that won. He also had two throws in game two in one, thousand, nine, hundred, the pirates he was on a team that won we celebrate even bet players on teams that won. And great players on teams that didn't there's always a footnote. I don't think the reds are good enough to win the world series I. Think they're good enough to advance in the postseason if they get there. And what I'm hopeful for is that Joey votto at some point has a moment like last night. Last night is greatest trevor. Bauer was. Home, run in the first innings seem to set the tone hey, they're gonNA. Play from head. They're going to be okay. bowers been given runs. You know what it felt like enough in in real time to runs. Trevor Bauer against this team were good. I'm a big Joe Votto Fan. I will admit that it doesn't mean that he doesn't frustrate me at times. I've criticized him. I may big Joey votto fan this dude even when the reds have been awful, it's been fun to watch joey at the very least when the reds were in the middle of seasons where they were losing ninety plus Games I. Turn on the reds I go to the ballpark. I. Watched Joey thing. Dude is played hard. He's cared about his GIG. He's never ask for a trade. He's. He's always talked a few simply about wanting to win for fans in Cincinnati and yet still there are people who don't like him. The only thing that's GonNa Swing those people over is going to be if they win while he's here and really if he's a main reason why they win. So among a lot of different things I hope for over the next couple of weeks. I Want Joey to get a moment in the postseason where he's the reason why they win a game. Or. Maybe a reason why a series. Or? Maybe. Even a reason why they win more than just a series. Are you telling me to break or were you pretending the cry? Quarter. To six bengals an eagles from gambling standpoint next. Reds are off. That's what's going on a baseball. By the way the giants lead that game free to still. They must be having like longest top of the sixth inning ever in San Francisco, which is good if you're rooting for the rockies which we are. Three to San. Fran top six meanwhile gambling. Let's talk gambling bengals in Eagles on Sunday at one here it live on ESPN fifteen thirty when we talk gambling chat with our buddy stuck from the action network host. This is must-listen I listened to this on the way today, the action network NFL gambling podcast week three. The action network is a great resource I won't lie I will not lie to you. You know how? Well we do with lots of the night you know how? Well the blog football guesses does. Action Network is a great help. I'M NOT GONNA lie to you and just say it's all me action network ago. There Action Network Dot Com subscribe stuck with the Action Network and he's here. So this game on Sunday. Bengal's got to get off the snide but eagles open up as a six and a half point favorite. I think there's value with this team. This number has come back to five five and a half. Carson wentz is not as bad as he's been over the first two games. This eagles team top to bottom is not as bad as they've been I think there's I hate to say this is the bengals. Fan I. Think There's value not just on Sunday but looking ahead to the rest of the season. Yeah. I agree I mean look I wasn't high on the eagles coming in into the year but but yeah, I mean I coming into the I still made this line over touchdown. But because of how. Poor Philadelphia's been. You're getting some value here since he's showed. That they can be competitive at least in the first two games so I think that's driving some of the value there I mean Wentz has been. You're right. He's not as bad. He's played, but he has been the worst quarterback in the NFL for the first two weeks by wide margins. Have you actually look at? You know yards over replacement he's had the worst two game stretch. Of Any quarterback over the past ten years for over the first two weeks but. You know from buying low perspective it's a great spot. To get philly. If you go back since two thousand three and look at teams at started. Oh into against the spread and failed to cover by an average of five points or more as a basal. They didn't cover and just betting on teams and start out against the spread. Has Been Profitable in week three teams that have been wildly off if you back them. In Week three. It's about a seventy percent proposition. which speaks just the the buy low sell high nature of how you WanNa approach nfl betting especially early in the air, you're right I think they can just hand it off and throw it to the tight ends and. And that's going to be enough to move the ball against since defense. Yeah, I mean I think to a degree. As you might imagine here, we're focusing on on the offensive line issues not keeping Joe Borough upright the fact that he had to throw at sixty one times and it's remarkable that he never threw a pick against Cleveland. But all of that masks issues that despite the amount of roster turnover on that side of the ball have plagued his franchise for years, which is awful defense and especially in space bad tackling and I think that catches up to him again on Sunday. Yeah, I mean going back to that Cleveland game. I mean they if you if you look at the Ravens of the browns week one, the Ravens won thirty eight to six the yards per play. Three hours about six and a half. The browns average four and a half a thirty eight to six game about as big as a block CFL and the Browns bengals game. The yards per play were brown seven and a half. Bengals four I mean about wider the discrepancy as you'll see and I thought I mean. The browns basically were could just handed off. Offense. It did nothing week before and get ten fifteen yards a carry Against the defense that just looked completely lost, and then obviously you have an offensive line that might be the worst in the NFL So there's a lot of things working against here. I think that you need a quarterback to. Build a franchise I. Think the Bengals have found there. So that's a great start, but there's still lots of issues with this roster is GonNa growing pain obviously this year just curious if you have this great if not totally understand, they're obviously coming off a Thursday night game. So they get the mini by against the team that has played on Sunday, we've had Thursday, night football for a long time now but but historically, how have teams done covering this spread off the mini by against the team that did just play the previous Sunday. It helps a little bit but not in only in certain circumstances so. If you filter out for like really good coaches and really good teams where there's a distinct. That talent advantage and preparation advantage from coaching standpoint that extra time really pays off for example, the Patriots and the raiders play this week. The Patriots are you know sick around six point favorites? They have an extra day of preparation. The raiders played on Monday night at the come across country and obviously you're going against one of the best will actually be best coach of all time against the spread after a loss. But teams that are Y-. Six point underdogs or more with one one fewer day of preparation compared to a team that has full prep. They're hitting about thirty five percent historically. So it it it matters when you have a really strong coach or strong team when the talent is either equal or less than it's it's not really that there's nothing really material their. Study is with the Action Network Action Network Dot Com I cannot encourage you enough to get the APP listen to the week three NFL betting podcast. They cover the Bengals, an eagles game in great detail as well as everything else around the NFL has there been. It's it's early it's two weeks but in a in a season, unlike any other has there been an early season betting trend worth paying attention to. Her early on the offenses overs have been hitting. At a very high clip and the offense is our. It looks like they're playing faster number. One looks like they're a little bit ahead of the defense is i. but what I also think that it's and you saw that back in two thousand eleven, when would there was the lockout and there wasn't A much preparation as normal, and then over the first couple of weeks, and then it kind of bounced itself out. I also think that just the lack of crowds. The biggest impact that it's having is. you know and it's just a gap. There's only two weeks ago off of, but it's it's creating an environment that's very conducive for offenses. The communication fall starts away way now which obviously not only are not losing. Five yards giving you more manageable, second and third downs but just the communication long the offensive line with the quarterbacks since there's not a lot of sound on especially on third downs on the road I I think that it's all been more conducive to offense. So that's one of the things that I've seen early on teams are playing faster than normal and the points are up pretty much across the board, but that might not last, but it's it's definitely a trend so far it might not last by the way. Can I ask you? This is an oddball question is his bed in the NFL is people are saying it isn't hurting gamblers. Yeah I mean it's it's. It's amazing that there's not. You can't find two guys kick field goals in the NFL and I'm a Ravens Fan. So I one of the few that you never have to sweat in Justin Tucker who you are I'm not jaw drops when he misses one, it's like once every couple of years I'm like wait that just happened But, yeah. I mean there's it's there are so many teams out there. I don't know what it is. I can't really explain it that are are dealing with with kicking issues. I. Don't know if it's a a fluke start to the season or what but Yeah, there's been some teams that. Certainly are struggling to find reliable kicker right now duckie the action network action or Dot Com follow him on twitter.
