MMA Fighter Takes Down Knife-Wielding Attacker

"The video is in the article. The footage went viral several days later leading to Baez making an appearance on TMZ and explaining what happened before, during and after his altercation. The man was identified by police as Omar Marrero and charged with two colonies, according to CBS news. What he likely did not know was that Baez held a 5 2 -1 record as a professional mixed martial artist most of his bouts with fight time promotions. Baez also told TMZ that he holds a black belt in jiu -jitsu, wrestled in college, practiced and has kickboxing for 15 years. So generally, he's a very bad person to pick a fight with, to the one holding a knife. And as they point out, this isn't the first time someone has had a fight. He's a very bad person to pick including an attempted car thief against Kevin Holland, a great fighter, an attempted mugging of strawweight Palina Viana, an attempted car theft against Jordan Williams, a home invasion of light heavyweight Anthony Smith, a drunken swing at Hall Hall of of Famer Matt Serra, a nighttime break -in at ex -light heavyweight champ John Jones' house. Can you imagine? Probably the greatest MMA fighter of all time, certainly one of them, an attempted stabbing of featherweight Maquon Americani's brother in an attempted mugging of legend Renzo Gracie. Renzo Gracie, the Gracie family. family. Unbelievable. There's a reason you see the word attempted a lot a in lot their attempted, because they all got their asses kicked. I'll be back. "Was appointed by Ronald Reagan in 1981. This is the first weekend there will be no Sunday hours at several branches of the New York Public Library as of a result $24 million in budget cuts. City Council Library Chair Chiasi. There are some financial burdens that the city is dealing with. Revenue was up though. Tourism is up. But in addition to that, we are wasting our money in some places where I think it should be spent on something else is for everyone just like our libraries are. The library's Fifth Avenue Midtown branch is also cutting Sunday hours. Today is gridlock alert day. Do take mass transit if you're heading into Midtown tonight. Meantime, this will be the first Sunday a section of Fifth Avenue will be shut to traffic and open to pedestrians for holiday shopping. This will be the second year for the open streets program in Midtown. means That no vehicles allowed on Fifth Avenue from 48th to 59th streets from noon till 6 p .m. for the next three Sundays. Speaking of vehicles, the public will have a chance to weigh in on the recommended toll prices for the MTA's congestion pricing plan from Manhattan. Drivers and others can give their input at public hearings in February before the MTA votes on the plan which, if approved, is expected to go into effect in the spring. Many admit the Traffic Mobility Review Board's recommendation of a $15 toll for passenger vehicles entering south of 60th Street will affect their driving habits. Now I'm not going to go. When I had second thoughts about going in, I might have gone in. Now I'm not going to go in for sure. The plan recommends discounts for entering during overnight hours and for drivers using the Lincoln, Holland, Hugh Carey, and Queens Midtown tunnels. James Flippen for 77 WABC News. Ron DeSantis Is Proof of Taking Action Over Words

"Particularly during events like this. I know I do and that's why one landslide wasn't some sleight of hand or anything of the sort. You know all about his background. You can dig in and look. And he's a guy who's a man actually grabs issues and runs with whether it's breaking the backs unions down there the the culture wars that he confronts. This is why he's attacked for it by Christie. Christie could not would not and will never do anything like it. Mike Pence who thinks he's Reagan. Ronald Mike Pence never did anything about these things ever. And he's fighting with Ramaswami which is fine they should all fight. But when he says the American people are better we've faced even worse we've done this. That tells me that Mike Pence is not capable of recognizing what's happening in this country and therefore is incapable I'll be right back. "Here's what the Eminem segment has always needed, some Tupac, California love. Oh, I got some California love today. How much time have you spent in that magnificent city, that magnificent area? My gosh, San Diego is just spectacular. I got off the plane and it was bright sunshine. I thought, oh, here we go again. It's going to be 110 degrees. Is it 80 maybe? 79 with a light cool breeze. And I'm walking around, I mean they got a mall, like an outdoor mall, and I mean a high ... I'm walking all through the mall. That's when you know you're old, when you're just like walking through the mall, do the mall walking. It's six o 'clock in the morning. But it's a ... I'm not kidding you, if it weren't for the time difference, I would come out here all the time. I'm telling you. I totally get it, and you're up in the middle of the night to make this show. Lisa and Ethan and Regina and I went out there probably 14, 15 years ago, stayed at the Hotel Del Coronado, which is beautiful and historic, also apparently haunted, which is fun. That's a nice little bit. But my other San Diego story is 19 ... What were you doing radio -wise in 1996? I was just starting in Albany, I guess it was in upstate New York. No, no, no, no, WABC. Okay. WABC. WABC. Did you cover the Bob Dole, Jack Kemp Republican Convention? Of course I did. I've been to every Republican convention for 100 years. That's what I was ... This is so wild, because before we had any concept of each other, we were both ... Well then, do you remember what I remember? The beauty of San Diego, and the time zone interestingness, because what is every convention designed to be? A TV show. So what would happen is the convention would ... This again, we all knew. We all knew Clinton was going to win. We loved Bob Dole, we really loved Jack Kemp, just et cetera, but it's like, okay, this is great. We do what we do, but Clinton ain't going to lose, but we're here, let's have a good time. And boy did everybody, because it's easy to do in a great town like San Diego. So we gathered, and the convention would gavel, and I'm just dripping with credentials of every type, and the convention would gavel into order at like four, because it was designed to be on TV and wrap up by 10 or 11 o 'clock Eastern time. So the convention was over every night at nine, giving every single delegate an entire full evening to party like rock stars.

"Kelly Clark with uh Kelly Clarkson with the MAGA theme I don't know what doesn't kill you makes you stronger Donald Trump it is it is the Trump theme it is the Trump base theme uh how you doing 24 hours down how was your I heard some of your show yesterday how did it go how did your day go I'm every bit as angry but it's channeled it's I'm not disjointed I'm determined I think people have eyes are opened Mike eyes are opened to this treachery people are running the gamut from anger and sadness and being perplexed that this is actually unfolding the way it is we're watching the pile on from people like Mike Pence and Bill Barr and you go down the list uh you know it's I had a mild disagreement yesterday look at the position that DeSantis is put in DeSantis wants to to win the nomination so he's competing against Trump by the same token he's got to acknowledge the horrors of a weaponized justice department and an attempt to interfere and well well they don't all I mean I know I know but but he's doing that and he and so I give him credit and Seb took me to task because he said that that DeSantis is being disingenuous so this is a what how how disingenuous how well he doesn't believe it he he says that he's only doing it out of political expediency so it seems to me and I listen you're not going to find a bigger Seb Gorka fan than me nor nor nor I but but that but come on and there's another interesting thing coming from the cauldron of maga ferocity and that is that when DeSantis came out over the last couple of days and said look when I'm president I'm you're going to get a new FBI director I'm going to bring the weaponization of law enforcement to an end we're going to root through everybody that does this to people and we're going to get rid of them and a lot of folks said huh what what a wimp what a weenie what a weasel there's nothing is satisfactory nothing is satisfactory short of an absolute pledge to pardon Trump it's like okay uh all right what whatever dudes I mean it's I mean which which Vivek has done and by the way and Vivek excuse me 30 seconds I'm sorry I'm yammering Vivek is evidence that you can indeed you can indeed run your own campaign and say I should be president while at the very same time say that Trump is getting unfairly screwed they're not mutually exclusive go ahead you know Ron DeSantis is viewed as the primary challenger to Trump and he really is in a damned if he does damned if he does in situation if he goes scorched earth like Mike Pence and Chris Christie are doing of course he completely alienates maga world it doesn't make any sense whatsoever and and incidentally he's got a win over I I've got to talk a real hard truth here and this is the hard thing to accept but I I think Trump is up to what 73 counts he could very well be convicted on many of them certainly some of them and guess what he you got you got a Fulton county sheriff uh look him up right off you tweeted this you tweeted this yesterday and I retweeted it go ahead this is awesome this is great it's it's this guy thinks it's it's clever to brag about taking a mug shot of Trump when the Georgia charges are filed and oh yes the Georgia charges are coming as well and of course you look you look this sheriff up he's a Democrat oh shocker you know you know so so this is the what I mean by the pile on I we may be helpless to stop a lot of this you get involved in somebody getting their mug shot and incidentally what a stupid thing to brag about the mug you're gonna take a mug shot of the most famous face in the world well you know he will smile he may give the thumbs up which they won't let him do but so there are some people uh tom delay uh maybe some other folks who have taken their mug shot as an opportunity to do an olin mills glamour shot and just smile and make it look like it was something they did on purpose and they turned the mug shot into a positive but we have to accept listen the only chance we've got is the supreme court listen this is what's going to happen and now you got this hand -picked judge who they're pretending was randomly selected she's an Obama appointee who worked in the boys law firm with David Boies who is a Democrat activist I mean you can't make this crap up so clearly she's been giving jail sentences to people that the government didn't even ask for jail time surrounding January 6th that's how off the charts she is so what do you think she's going to do to the uh to the to the man himself I mean believe me the only chance we've got is the supreme court how long will that take and how long will that take I mean the trial the trial the trials themselves are going to move at a glacier's pace probably and then you got to run it through it doesn't go immediately to the supreme court it goes to an appeals level first at least one and then so what does that do the voter but what does that do to the voter mark I'll tell you what it does to some voters it do you know exactly what it does to some it says you know what you're you're gonna I'm gonna make him president again and make you like it us ob's we are going to put him in the presidency we don't care if he's going to jail in jail in the yard doing exercise time eating grits for breakfast we're going to make him president united states and make you people make you people eat what you have done and you've you've perfectly articulated how you and I feel that's for sure frankly I mean but I guarantee you there will be people for whom that's going to be a bridge too far and and there's nothing we can do about that I I can try to convince people you can try to convince people Ron DeSantis can try to convince people that the weaponization of the justice department has to be stopped all those are well and good when you've got the system this goes back to Chuck Schumer you know you don't take on the intelligence community you don't take on the system and when you do they have a way to coming back and getting you and and and I don't know I don't I don't know where this ends the Supreme Court obviously could throw it all out it could be thrown out on on appellate review I mean this is a contrary to what the left is now trying to to to counter with this is about state of mind this is about free speech this is about go ahead and give me because I'm reading the New York Times Mark play play devil's advocate with me their argument is and Bill Barr's argument is oh yeah you have free speech you can have an opinion that the 2020 election was rigged but you're not allowed to conspire to stop right the transfer of power what does that mean like tell me about it what what do they think he did do do this do you think that they want to convince us that he had some secret network where he was telling people to go riot what he he literally told them to go peacefully protest how are they how do you but be bit but did you're a smart guy take their side what are they going to argue how do they say Trump conspired to do a criminal act on January 6th what did he do he marshaled every resource at his control using advice from attorneys who Mike Pence now refers to as crackpots to say look there is a way to do this to cast enough legal and constitutional doubt on the incoming electoral votes that they should not be brainlessly rubber stamped if Mike Pence wants to say I can't unilaterally brush those away okay but as the presiding officer he could have hit a pause button and said look we got 18 states banging at the door asking questions I'm not going to accept it I'm not going to reject it we're going to hit a pause button on this and let this play out Pence could have done that it is the constitution itself that provides the process for resolving an election where the electoral validity is in doubt and and it was Trump seeking to throw every hail mary he had in the support of his belief that the 2020 result was improperly tabulated that votes were counted that shouldn't have been and so he did nothing wrong he did nothing illegal he did nothing nothing unconstitutional and this that's you know I was hoping you could try to argue their side play devil's advocate how did any of that which incidentally is beautifully stated it's perfect it's exactly what we understand happened how is that conspiracy to defraud the united states okay I can chat I can play you you ask you a good question let me let me answer it because I had a nice speech there but here's the actual answer to your question thanks for pressing me it goes like this to channel them it is he lost he knows he lost which is mind reading they have no idea and so for him to call election officials for him to gather with attorneys to challenge this sacrosanct result is an assault on democracy it's an attempt to defraud the American people it's an attempt to disenfranchise those who voted for Biden it is an attack on the fabric of our nation because he was peddling a lie and he knew it was a lie well that's their argument and it makes my mouth feel nasty just saying those words because they are so false it's grotesque and let I mean listen they're going to have to prove it but the problem is with the dc jury and a democrat activist judge it won't matter it won't matter they they won't have to prove it I mean ostensibly they do and you know what that means they have to have proof that he somehow like the wizard of Oz could look into a crystal ball and know what happened with 340 million people in this country in 50 states he had to know that he actually lost the election and to this to this day most of America doesn't know if he lost the election exactly right to this minute and yet the guy who has been leading the charge of I got screwed the king the the grand poobah of I won is all of a sudden now identified in this indictment of somebody really if you if you if you hook him up to a lie detector he knows he lost they are high as a kite well the star witness according to Axios is Mike Pence he's the potential star witness he's coming out swinging and he supposedly took copious notes so can you imagine this I can see this coming no recording no proof he's going to say oh my notes tell me that in a meeting on whatever date in the oval office president Trump said to me I know that I lost you're not being honest enough Mike we have to lie and pretend that I won that I mean we're going to take Mike Pence's word for it and here's the dilemma he's a good man I don't know what happened to this guy I don't know what happened to this guy I guess he got like you often say Trump breaks people all this stuff breaks people and and Mike Pence is a broken man he is I don't I don't understand why and he hasn't been this way until really fairly recently I guess he thought that he said listen I am the Trump agenda without the Trump baggage I'm a solid conservative a solid Christian a patriot a wonderful person and I offer both a biography and a track record that conservatives can admire and the conservative response has been whatever the interest in him being president is close to zero so now it's like what's my plan b well I guess I gotta climb into this lonely treehouse with Chris Christie and Will Hurd start hating on Trump so that at least if I'm gonna get blown off a debate stage I can at least be spoken well of for a couple of days on CNN well speaking of the debate stage red state leads an article today saying it is unlikely that president Trump will attend the Milwaukee debate in a couple weeks says who and what do they know well I know that Trump meant with Fox news executives yesterday apparently had dinner with them they're trying to win him over no but they are well I don't know I mean I listen I at this point how can he not be on that debate stage that's what I think I'll believe he's not there when I see him not there I really would respectfully say that would be a mistake for him to not go because then because you know what will happen then well one of two things can happen let's let's go down this path right they'll either make Trump the content of the debate without him which means he'll be there without being there exactly or or they will shrewdly barely mention him and if they shrewdly barely mention him yeah then that becomes uh destructive for his campaign because then then the process begins of sort of forgetting about getting getting turning the page getting turning the page he gets lost in the shadows he's he's becoming irrelevant blah blah blah and that's so that's why he's got to go he's got to be there and you know we're going to be covering it extensively across our platforms you know here at Salem I mean what is it august the 23rd right yep here we go in Milwaukee Wisconsin and where our convention is next year yes that's exactly right got I've Ken Paxton's attorney coming up 805 and uh yeah speaking of people who a lot of people think are being railroaded so anything else real quick that you got coming for us today no no just thank you for the tribute to Rush uh you know I just want to quickly you know both of the both of us had the privilege and the honor of getting to know him a little bit I worked with him down the hall at WABC for in New York City and when you talk about when he talked about being humble that was one humble guy despite his massive wealth and his private jets and his mansion and the bravado on the show he was always he was nothing like that he was nothing like that braggadocious bravado it was all shtick on the air he was a humble gracious grateful human being and boy do I miss him I love because there's not a chance he'd be bailing on Trump right now not a chance not a chance all right we'll knock him dead have a "All the talk show hosts in America are jealous of you because you get some of the biggest names you make headlines all the time. Of course, the cats at night every week on ABC radio. You've got the cats roundtable. I mean, you become a broadcast personality in your own right. Did you just sit around and decide, hey, I listen all this time, I can do it as well as anybody else can. Well, mutual friend, Jerry Crowley, after I ran for mayor in 2013. Jerry has dinner with me and says, John, a lot of people like you that want to hear you. You made a lot of good points when you're running for mayor. You should have your own radio show. So Jerry, put me on 9 70 in New York. And you know, you know, Jerry, nobody could say no to Jerry. I said, okay, I'll do an hour. Then it's two hours. Then it's three hours. That is four hours. And it didn't stop. And then the only time, the only time I yelled, he only time I yelled at Jerry, was the fact when W OR was sold and Jerry used to work that. And I said, Gary, why didn't you tell me either me or Mike blumberg with a boy? 'cause like one brother was on WOR all the time. Right. And it was so for $30 million. And he says, they never told me either. When WABC came along for Nichols and dimes, like 12 million, $13 million. Right. I didn't even do any due diligence. "We have regular Americans. The great WABC in New York, Alan. How are you, sir? Hey, Mark. How you doing? Thank you. I'm a blind in Queens and a hot zone here. Run by Kathy hook. I know this. Listen, there's some things I want to discuss with you. The wolf is outside my door. The wolf is definitely outside my door. I'm scared. Let me tell you what's going on. Based on the things you told me, I won't go to the hospital. And I think you know why. No. Medicare Medicaid. You're at the bottom of the line. Yes. I'm swimming in the I'm swimming in the cesspool. And I don't like it. Also, hako is threatening to see a threatening certain helm care. Called CD pep. Consumer directed personal assistant program. She wants to slash the money for them. They are supposed to have demonstrations in Albany and things like that, but you know what? Anything happens to them, Mark, I'm finished. And I'm not trying to exaggerate. I'm in a story. Let me ask you a question. With all the money they blow in that state and that city. On a legal immigration and redistributing wealth on on and on and on and on. They're going to target this that helps people like you. Well, that's what she's doing. Should I say female? Actually used. Past tense. I think for us, right. She used this birthing person actually used a baptist church to promote her abortion politics. This is utterly disgusting. And to that effect, I just read, I just read American Marxism, by the way. And I know I don't have a lot of time to speak. So I have to cram everything in, sir. I like your BDS approach. But my question about the BDS approach is that chapter 7, you really did dig into it. Go ahead. All you have to read it again, because that's a school book. I tell people, you want to read that book, you need to read it more than once. I'm getting ready to do a liberty charity. Anyway, to make a long story short, I want to ask you, as more and more companies get gobbled up by the CCP. Where do we turn? What can I do as a person in my position to help my country? Well, you know, it's interesting. There's more and more sort of boutique companies, little businesses that are not gobbled up by the communist Chinese party. And you can seek them out. It's just like in the media. There are platforms out there that are competing against the big corporatists. And I find out whether it's clothing, the local grocery store, stuff like that. So they are out there. And there's a lot of opportunities for more of them, but they are out there and I would assume in New York there are more prevalent and available than many other places too. Mark, another problem is everything is online and pictures and for a blind person. We used to buy things to touch and see that's gone. Virtually gone. It's really rough. I wish I had more time to speak to you off air because call me next week. I'm here, Alan. It's a pleasure to talk to you, my friend. I very much enjoyed it. We'll be right back. Mud

We have a very interesting hour for you and we lead off with mayor Adams, who said something yesterday, that was fascinating to me. He basically was talking about how children are being corrupted in New York City. And that this is an epidemic where children are now before the age of ten, they are embracing harmful things at a record level, according to mayor Eric Adams. I concur. I agree with that. And the main part of it is bad parents. Which mayor Adams and any other government functionary. It can't do anything about. You got a terrible parents. You're probably going to have a terrible life. There are exceptions. Anyway, after he said that, he tied in religion to helping the children. Roll a tape. No, we need to build children that's better for our world. "Away your turn to be heard here at WABC Russia. Hey, Curtis. Listen, I can explain this day in three words. Paul's plague operation. You know, that FBI and Homeland Security have declared white supremacists the most severe threat to the democracy in the United States and they can't track 40 yahoos online declaring a day of hate. But what do you mean Russell for hillbilly trouble Florida with no teeth? Or somehow made their way up and protested outside of a play? Well, what's the name of that play? Everybody's getting all bent on the ship. They went up to the Jewish sir, you and Joe will burn you. They choose should have just pounced on that guy. We need to be protected. What the hell happened? What the hell happened to us a society? Then we need squadrons of police to go rolling up and down the streets. And when I stopped him today and I said, officer, who are you chasing after? Extremists, white extremists. You know they are. I don't know who they are when I see them. Why are you looking for them today? Hitting you know? It's the national day of hate. They declare this. Who are they? And the cop looked at me and what do I care? I'm getting triple overtime. It's like Don Quixote, right? Chasing windmills. Where are they? Oh God. Anyway, let's go to Mike in Manhattan you are trying to be heard he had WABC Mike. The name of the play that is on Broadway that refers to its corporate. It was written and composed by Stephen Sondheim. The same guy worked on a little night music and in the clowns into the Woods Sunday in the park with George and they did the words, I believe, the west side story. Of course, how can you I play it every day when we talk about the illegal aliens from 1960, right? When landed Bernstein conducting but Mike legal evidence that came from Puerto Rico. Right, exactly. And nowadays, you couldn't even use that terminology would be considered politically incorrect. But let me ask you this question, Mike. We got foy hillbillies, came up from old Kyle, Florida, right? No teeth. Walking around with swatch to get us on their head, yelling at wheelchairs, perceived Jews as they were online to go see that play. And then all of a sudden, we're in lockdown on Saturday. What the hell is that? Well, people are then locked down the fact that the manual on Fifth Avenue they actually had their services outside. It allow fresco. Somebody was on lockdown. It was just the opposite. Who was threatening? The slide is it was on those encoded. Chat messages like Reddit and places like that and like I think like storm front that they were talking about. Mike, let me ask you a question. Do you trust government? For certain things I do and obviously some things I don't. All right, so I'd never trust the government. I'm not like what I'm doing. In this particular case, wasn't this a great distraction from our day to today problems? I'm not so sure about it. I'm not as I'm not as convinced as you are about it. Well, I'll tell you, I'll tell you what, Mike, I spent a whole freaking day running around. Looking for white supremacists with the guardian angels. Let's see, I went out to the guy who opened up his pizza parlor in the elmhurst, you saw that story, him and his son would have been stabbed multiple times by a black guy, he opened back up, he's defined. He said, hey, I'm selling pizza. We're going to be talking about pizza later on. It wasn't white supremacists who did that. I mean, I wanted to do my part. It's the leader of the guardian angels saying I couldn't find one white supremacist. Avery and I lost it, and I used to be good at what I do. I didn't think. I looked everywhere. I looked on the rocks, I looked in the subway. I walked through central parking. I saw the owl up there, you know. I could not find that one hater one white supremacist. Help me, ladies and gentlemen, please help me. I think I'm losing it. I really think I'm losing it. It's got a pauli calling from parameters your turn to be heard here at WABC pauli. Curtis, what do you think? Are we going to war with China? Why do you think we're going to war with China? All the blues are sending in? Wait a second. We're at a war with our own people. Amongst white people. I guarantee by 25, we go to war. They're going to destroy, they're going to take out our lectures. I guarantee it. I wouldn't trust China as far as I can throw them. What the hell does that mean Pauly? I can't trust them as far as I can throw China. Watch and they're going to disrupt our electricity. But I couldn't agree with judge Weinberg United States do without electricity. We have no water. Have you seen the con Ed bills lately? That has nothing to do with it. Oh, yes, it does. The National Football League is going to allow players to show social justice related messages on their helmets. "Millions of people around the world. He's transformed some of your favorite TV movie. Uh, singers all the stars out there. This guy is the guy behind it. He has an amazing gym in Burbank called the A T T mecca. He trained some of the best people in this world. He's got zoom classes, changing people's lives for the better. And one of the most passionate, genuine people I've ever met in the industry. Eric, the trainer is in the house. What's up? Whoa. Thank you, Reihan for having me on. It means so much to be here with you. And the great Dr V. I mean, that guy to be around him is so motivating and inspiring it. Everyone loves this guy. Yeah, well, listen, we love you, Eric. I tell you that for sure. We love Dr B. But I'll tell you this when I walk into your gym, I feel like if I call it like the the energy boost, like Turbo charged, you get, like amped up. You know what I mean? Where did this all this positive motivation energy. Where do you derive all that from? I mean, I think I try to lead with my heart. And I love what I do. And I spend time with some of the greatest artists in Hollywood. Whether it's an actor or a musician or a director. It's exciting for me to go to work every single day and work with the greatest artists that we know. And so I jump out of bed. I mean, I'm motivated, inspired, ready to go. And I learned at the foot of Jack Lalane. He was my mentor. I was his final apprentice before he passed away and he might have left this earth. But he is alive and well in my heart to this moment, and so he was on a mission that concluded, But I have continue that mission to help people to reach my hand out and be an ambassador of health and fitness. So it's an honor. It's an honor to do what I do. Yeah, your true embodiment of That of helping people achieve success. I mean, looking at you right now. I feel like doing some pushups. I mean, this is crazy. Awesome. I'm um, Now you have a really interesting, interesting journey through fitness. Uh, you started off not in Hollywood, but in a far away place called Main. Tell us about your famous journey. Main is like a modern day tattoo in from Star wars. I mean, it's sort of a barren place where there are all kinds of crazy for the Yeah, It's pretty crazy. I grew up on a farm. Main, We had sheep. We had pigs. We even had a donkey. And, uh, you know, I I knew that I wanted to live in a place where there were palm trees and fast cars and beautiful girls, and it's great to live in Los Angeles. I ended up in New York City after college. I was a trainer in New York for five years. But really all of the world of fitness that matters radiates out of Los Angeles and so coming out here and being part of that scene and getting a chance to work with celebrities It's a blast. It's so much fun, and it's a mission that will not stop. I can't wait. What? What I always ask people is when you were doing it. You were grinding. You were coming up your inspiring people in your fitness journey. Did you expect to be sort of the legendary figure you are now or But it was a kind of unexpected, like, Wow, I made it here. This is crazy. No, I I never expected to to achieve any notoriety at all. As a matter of fact, I wanted to place myself in a place of service and I wanted to be of service to others. And in New York City. I had that opportunity. I trained Broadway stars and I trained fashion people, and I trained just people in New York that worked really, really hard. And the New York work ethic really translates well to Los Angeles. If you can make it in New York City in the Big Apple, and you come out to Los Angeles, people look at you and say Like, what? What's the hurry? What's the urgency? I mean that New York work ethic has really served me well here in L. A Wow. Um Mohammed Ali said that the service to others is the rent. You pay to be here on Earth. So you're embodiment of that as well. Um, Now you worked with some of the top celebrities and rock stars and all those things. How is it like the experience to work with them? What are some of the challenges? How do you overcome them? Like, what Is it like Being a top celebrity trainer? You know, I would. I would agree with what Dr V started to talk about. And that is the mindset starts to dominate how the body acts. And so if you're in the Right mindset. You can go through life and express yourself as an artist and and meet success. But without that correct mindset, the body starts to break down. I mean, even looking at the music industry itself. A lot of people used to make a lot of money from selling records and record sales and CD sales and tape cells have gone away. So musicians, especially professional musicians, rock stars, rappers, they make their money from live performances, and that schedule can be quite grinding. Yes, so my my job is more important than ever to get them. Into shape to get them motivated and inspired to really be able to deliver that high level of artistry and then to stay with them on the road and create a lifestyle where they're eating the right foods. They're going to bed at a reasonable hour. They're getting great sleep and they're ready to go The next day. A lot of workouts, big workouts, big workers, no doubt about it. Now, When I see your clients, they have a very amazing symmetrical like Crazy. Awesome look, and it's interesting. Even doctor be looking at you. Thank you. I was looking at Dr B. When I said that, but seriously, they like literally the clients I've seen you transform. They have an amazing cool, symmetrical look, and I've seen you with some of your unique exercises you come up with, like I would say you got more moves than U haul. I mean, it's it's crazy. More moves than Excel. Access is crazy, but I think when I see you with your philosophy of training, how do you come up with some of these unique exercise? Guys that make people really transform and look like superheroes. Well, I studied the golden era of bodybuilding, and one of the things I became obsessed with was the shoulder to waist ratio in men s golden ratio. Yeah, And so the smaller the waste, the broader the shoulders, The sharper the John line. If you want to boil it down. I wanted most of my clients that were mailed to look like Tarzan and I wanted my female clients to look like Jane and Jane does not go to the gym. So the very hard The very hallmark of my female clientele is they looked like they had never been to the gym..

"So let's continue our conversation now with Mike Duchamp with Philips Hue, the smart lighting market leader, Mike Welcome back to real estate today. No thanks for having me again. You're very welcome. So from very, very cutting edge lighting theory and gaming and movies. Let's go to something far more simple. The smart mirror. Mike tell us about that Theodore Vanity Mirror is a is a very unique, very great product where we've built the light source in and around the mirror itself. You walk into your bathroom and your bathroom is the different space depending on the time of day, So walking in the bathroom early in the morning to get ready for your day, you can turn The lights all the way up brighter, but even change the color temperature to like a cooler, almost blue tone to it that mimics more of a daylight. Right. So you kind of get that exact look and feeling like you're going to be when you're outside in the sun helps to energize you in the morning, which is great, but that same hue like that same mirror in the evening when you're going to the bathroom. That's not what you want. You want the exact opposite. And with you, you can set relaxed tones, more warmer, amber colors. And that same mirror is lighting up the bathroom but helping you unwind helping you relax, helping you get ready before you get ready for bed. And so now you're taking as something as simple as a light bulb with just on off. But it is it's helping you throughout your day. That's excellent. And now how about stepping outside now? You have all these new lighting systems for the front porch, the deck and even the walkways around the house. What a great application for smart lighting. Yeah, it really was the next the next phase of smart lighting. As I mentioned we, you know, we have a different bulb or different form factors to hit over 90% of the spaces indoors and organically. We were noticing customers. We're bringing, you know, lights outside, and that's where we wanted to kind of get the next room. And we really see people and consumers or adopting it in just really doing well for us and and transforming spaces, transforming their homes. It really allows it to do with Philips Hue with the bridge with the technology we use. We can. We can really bring lighting outside. And whether it's the front porch because you want to have lights turn on and off automatically with a schedule to to make you feel comfortable and secure to the backyard right to creating that perfect ambience, whether I'm sitting out on the deck with a loved one Just hanging out in the evening, or, you know when we get back to it, having barbecues during the summer, you know large parties and and really creating that perfect scene with the different lights I see. And Mike, my favorite product made by Philips. You Has got to be the filament bulb. But Mike, I understand There's been a big big improvement in the filament bulbs. Can you tell us about that? Yeah, The filament bulbs have been a big thing in the market for for lighting in general, we that old time, you know, vintage feel we brought to smart with the hue, filaments and And people love them. It's really more of an aesthetic design, something that is meant to be seen, You know, in a completely exposed fixture, and it is is doing well. People love it. They really incorporating it with really unique designs. Um, you know within the home and what will be actually launching this fall, which is really exciting is is an improved product from Philips Hue. His new vintage bulbs that will actually allow you to to change that color temperature change the white light. So you can now actually have functional white light that you wanted to, you know, to read your book or even increase it. So you know you can prepare for your meals in the kitchen. With that same bulb can now actually become warmer. Right? So that same idea that I talked about earlier the same bulb gets warmer and helps you on wine helps you relax. Give you that comfort feeling. So one bulb really becomes a huge difference throughout your day and is a really versatile product that you can use within your house so really excited to see how that comes to fruition when we launched that this fall? Well, Mike, I really want to thank you for being on the show this week and talking about all the new amazing products. From Phillips. You thank you. Thank you for having me. It's always always a great time. You're very welcome Mike Deschamps with Philips Hue..

"The land. But Laura, how do I know how much is just the house? Or as they say in real estate, the improvements on the land? And how much is just the dirt? How do I know? Yeah, so your insurance company can definitely help you with this. They're going to look at the size of the home the quality of the home the cost to rebuild the home where you live, the materials used in your home. All of those are going to go into the value to rebuild the property or to repair the properties and appraiser. Can also help you with that. If maybe you don't believe what the insurance companies telling you, you think it's too high or too low? You can definitely get an appraiser to help you understand what the not the market value, but the actual replacement of the cost of that structure would be next up Laura, a question that strikes fear into every home owner's heart. And that is when your insurance agent says how much of a deductible do you want? I mean, obviously, if you go high, your premium is less. If you go low, Your premium is higher. But there's less out of pocket. What's your advice? If you are a good saver, and you would feel comfortable showing out 3000, maybe even more if you had to make a claim. And I definitely recommend going higher. You know that is going to save you money on premiums over many, many years. But if you're not a good favor, and you don't typically keep whole lot around, that's you know something that you're going to need to really bureau ballistic about and you want to have a lower deductible. So you know, be realistic about what she's got. I'd say $500 is the most common deductible. But if you can even push that up to $1000, that's going to.

That's going on in politics is with the other guy. The other woman has to be evil. Dangerous there's no such thing as not as differences anymore and we have to try and get back to that as you said john use commonsense and you and be respectful. It doesn't matter what side of the political aisle you're on as long as there's mutual respect. We can have an honest and open and fair dialogue. And that's what got the again.
