UN: Child Malnutrition Soars in War-torn Yemen

"The children of Yemen are suffering acute malnutrition president at rights as the world's worst humanitarian crisis grinds on UN agencies have warned in an alert based on new food security analysis in some areas more than one in four children is acutely malnourished. said the UN Children's fund UNICEF along with the World Food Programme, WFP and the Office for the Coordination of humanitarian, affairs or. They cited data from one hundred and thirty three districts in southern parts of Yemen which are home to one point four, million children under five. It revealed a ten percent increase in acute trish in so far this year even worse is the more than fifteen percent rise in children suffering from severe acute malnutrition meaning that at least ninety, eight, thousand under-fives are at high risk of dying without urgent medical treatment from Geneva. Here's UNICEF spokesperson Eczema. Kado. The most significant increase is among young children who suffer from inferior acute malnutrition. This is a condition that leaves children around ten times more likely to die. Z's as such as cholera, diarrhoea, malaria, or acute respiratory infections, all of which are common in Yemen. According to Wip by the of twenty, twenty, four in ten people in surveyed areas of Yemen about three point, two million people are likely to be severely food insecure data for the remaining districts. Northern Yemen has yet to be published, but the situation is expected to be equally concerning based on historical trends. Fighting between government on non-state actors has continued in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province where civilians have been killed thousands displaced the UN hazard an update from Austria, the UN Humanitarian Aid Office reported that more than two weeks since clashes began near Lashkar Gah city. The security situation remains volatile while talks between the Afghan government and Taliban representatives continue in Qatar fighting has also been reported along the road connecting Chicago with Kandahar city in the East with improvised explosive devices planted on main highways continuing to threaten those looking for shelter. UN health agency leads collaborative bid to get 135 countries ready for COVID-19

"This is Matt Wells at US News. Well if you're an avid follower of curve in nineteen developments you may have wondered what the phrase PCR equipment means. Well it stands for polymerase chain reaction which is the process that labs use to check with someone with cub in nineteen symptoms has the new current a virus after taking a medical swap usually from both nostrils in line with World Health Organization voice to countries to test as many cases of suspected. Infection is possible the race is on to find enough. Pc MACHINES FOR EVERYBODY. And that's where poll molinaro comes in. He's the cool calm collected head of the -gistically the WHO which with other EU partners is part of a major new initiative to help kit out one hundred and thirty five countries trying to see off the pandemic. He's been talking to you and uses Daniel Johnson. So right now. It's trying to get US access to products that are in extremely short supply because of very high demand and be able to get access to those markets collectively on behalf of lowering committing come countries a quiet financed by and move those things to a platform from which we can deliver via aircraft managed by. W and others to the countries where those things are needed. How many countries are we talking about so it depends on the type of on what product I think unless count where anywhere between one hundred twenty one hundred thirty five. We all know that. There's massive demand and not enough supply for face masks gloves. But what's the other equipment that you really trying to get hold of in? Massive numbers diagnostic tests different types of high throughput automated or manual. Pr Systems is critical then in biomedical. It's mainly around provisions of oxygen so oxygen concentrator 's oxygen manufacturing machines ventilators CPAP machines oxygen giving set any sort of mass. That go with it. So it's the PCP around the protection for the health workers lab workers. It's the diagnostics to be able to identify intest who is infected and then for those unfortunate enough to hit the clinical frontline. Is the equipment needed to treat them? And where exactly is it going to go first? How do you prioritize need well? It's difficult so we have developed a model based on epidemiology based on a number of inputs that we make for each country on the attack rate that they're currently facing how many cases they have and then from that we get an estimation of how many bed spaces they would need if they were moving to a clinical environment and that also putting in terms of what other percentages of mild severe severe critical cases that we're experiencing averaged out so it is a little bit of a and had to be done with modeling at the same time. We have a matrix. Who is issued an updates regularly on the various risks and vulnerabilities of countries? Of course we also compare that to current case count and the rate of spread in each country to try and get a sense of where we should be going. I and with numbers. And let's just talk about demand for second you were saying in an earlier press conference that demand is one hundred to two times above normal totally unprecedented stuff. So is this a significant enough measure bringing together enough you and agencies and Non Union partners to make a real difference. Well it's what we can do. So certainly we start off with bringing our partners into the shop and coordinating and working with them in terms of trying to bring together the volumes and the financing that we can collectively get hold off and then approach markets which we have. I mean different. Entities have different experience in different markets. So we try and use what we're strong collectively at. And that I think just gives us a more coordinated approach again beginning off on those elements we work closely with so assist the UN agencies and then some of our larger NGO partners which have long term standing relationship and organizations like the Global Fund and financing institutions like the World Bank like Bill Melinda Gates Foundation to be able to frontload or bridge financing for us to acquire some of these quantities. But with the best will in the world when border start closing and country start hanging onto the food end-equipment that they need to withstand this cove in nineteen new corona virus pandemic. How do you overcome those barriers? And the concern I have is that the World Food Program said that does delays at the borders yourself mentioned that to UNICEF macy's some difficulties in distributing vital vaccines so. What's the prognosis. Wants the outlet? It's difficult and it is a big challenge. Now what we do is we do have a long track. Record of being able to circumvent some of these bottlenecks where humanitarian and disaster. The districts professionals. It's not new to us. It's something we do as bread and butter and we'll continue to do so now with the infrastructure and assets we put in place managed by WFP. That's another partner that we've worked with a lot in the past to to reach areas that are difficult to reach and then around the difficulties with I mean. Who has country representation across the globe so does UNICEF so does the U N D peace within entire UNC system? There are ways that we can advocate within certain governments. And if you see some of these export restrictions doing clued generally provision for exemption for humanitarian and medical movement. It's not always easy to navigate the exemption and it takes persistence and you do have to jump through hoops but again. Persistence is something where we do. Where you sit and so we push forward that way now where we get availability we will. We'll address any issues we we don't face it in all the old country. We do get specific exemptions that negotiated and we do see movements it could be more and certainly will continue pushing for that again with access to a schedule sort of cargo facility provided by WIP and with the know how that collectively we have as you and agencies and NGOs. We can circumvent this. And I guess very last question to you. There's reports that air travel is going to cost fifty percent more now presumably. That will have the same sort of knock on impact on your work. So how will you manage to keep the show going if you like? Well I think when it comes to putting back the passenger networks online. Obviously they're not gonNA be able to fill their planes with people so certain even when we're planning for the WFP passenger service you know. They're not going to be able to have a complete fool plane. I mean especially not at the beginning that going to need to be distant so any airline company is going to have to factor that in now will that same price go onto the freight animal of that that goes underneath the plane. Maybe it will be cheaper. You're not actually loading many twenty or thirty kilos sets of luggage into the hold. Maybe frees up some capacity full cargo on some of these things. One never knows certainly when we were trying to find. F. Rate from China when Chinese manufacturing was down it was very cheap when Chinese manufacturing came back online. It becomes more expensive. It's just the nature of supply and demand over capacity and under-capacity so as these airlines come online maybe a freight we'll get cheaper on certain routes certain segments. Maybe it's going to get more expensive. So sometimes these things can be a bit hard to predict certainly living in a topsy turvy world at the beginning. When a lot of countries were sending support to China every into China was expensive. Now it's the other way round coming back gone up.

NFL Draft: Eagles pick Andre Dillard, Miles Sanders, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

"The NFL draft was completed on Saturday the three day extravaganza Thursday Friday into Saturday. I really liked days one and two as much day three. But I think they have some guys who can help them in certainly. I thought the Dillard drafting was a smart play for guy who was still there with that kind of value. I really liked the Sanders, vile Sanders, drafting and JJ Artega Whiteside. Why watched a lot at Stanford is a guy who will contribute to this team. And it may not be a huge role this year, but he will contribute to the steam. That's for sure let's go to Mike in Westchester wants a little NFL draft. What's going on my man? Mike been buddy. Hi, brother. How are you doing? Well, I say rob Sixers could blow out and thank goodness. We're going to new coach. Yeah. They're not going to be a lot of people ask me before the series. What do you think if they if they get eliminated is Brett Brown gone? And my answer was always we'll tell me how they're getting a limited. Right. If this if this goes seven games, and they lose an overtime Toronto. That's different. If they end up if this is four or five games, and for the most part these games look similar to last night. Then I think Brett could be in big trouble. Yeah. I think it's time how this tiling coaches incoming here that really I think they need it needs to kick in the. But that's just my opinion. I think it's the plight of the news. Well, Mike, real quick. It's a fascinating off-season is not only the if they go out the Brown question looming. You also have three guys who potentially walk on, you know, with with Butler and Harrison JJ Harrison back. That's my opinion. You see these guys don't have the intestinal or too close game Butler does. And that's why keeps his team. I don't think there. Let them go. I don't think he's going to get like three or four. You do wants to play. We started to. Yeah. I wouldn't max amount for sure. But yeah here, but I think he'll be back. Be better to stay niece. Anyway, you go west. It's it's you know, he's at all star in east east got I mean, he should stay east. And I don't think he's gonna liquors to fry come on. Flat out for I'm glad response on his face. He deserves I'll tell you try to get Anthony Davis. And that was that was camping, you know. Yeah. Well, if they don't and landing these big fish, the Anthony Davis is the world center. They don't end up landing one of those guys. And he stuck in that in that that mess for another year. My God, man. I love it. Love it. But anyway, I love the draft, man. Richie. Jota project man, you play the NFL. Not a project up only one sack. You know, who started boatload of games? Oh my God. Guys. And he said they said it's amazing healing at four holding penalties entire season. That's impressive. I mean, really the guy. You know, he's not like guys. It's a. You know, you look at look at his technique. He could be his a pro style offense to his advantage. He can learn under Jason Peters. The other line this year. It also shows that they don't have any at all competent of how they look if I tie a backup or maybe a guy who wasn't going to be here for the long haul. And I think that a lot of commodity as much as we all blown up. Yeah. I mean, I think as much as we all think it's a great story and all that the guys played professional football for one year. And when I say played he's been on team you it's not like he got reps other than training camp or preseason game. So I think he got a slow down a little bit on on the my Lada. So this picnics a lot of sense. From what the draft signify is eagles are all in on giving Carson much every opportunity to be everything he needs. Really? I mean, the running back in first time running back in that high shady, I mean, the irony. It was the exact same pick in the second round, number wise. Amazing. But no just look at the entire off season so far. So to Sean comes back, you have the speed threat. Right. Jordan howard. You add him as the running back. They from draft standpoint, you get an offensive lineman with an eye to the future mind you, but they get enough of linemen then they get a running back, then they get a wide receiver. They are doing everything they can deliver. Because it could may lose Nate Sud bells. Yes. Somebody can develop. I like that move a little bit later. Yeah. It was a good move. I'm not he's not looking to replace Wentz. This case you lose some that's the point of getting. That's what you have to continue to add guys like that. But I like what they did. I think Sanders is going to be tremendous. I I think that him and Tim talked about the air he thinks the college where he can't idiot coach like James Branko in you know, it's like it's only step up my pig. He's also a guy who isn't going to come in beat up. I mean, he saquon he's excellent after the point of contact that you more than four yards per carry. So I mean, there's there's a lot to like with this pick better running back anywhere with blunt, and John that's my. The running back position with Howard. And and now Sanders and then getting back night day from what it was when they go into the pit go on the sunset your been watching over. "But anyway, I heard you talking to a lot of guys working out there right hands while they listen to us. I heard you talking about eagles bars, and I have a quick tale. Used to do corporate events. And we were doing it event in San Diego. Right. I'm I would go to a city. I would always ask the concierge. Is there a place to watch the eagles game? Is there an eagles bar, right? And there's one contractors. I was in San Diego, you have to go to sticks. I said what it's called sticks. I said where is it since about an hour north of here? I was in San Diego I had to visit a friend a little a little past that. So on the way up we decided to stop in. It was Earl it was it kinda clock in the morning, but we decided to take a look 'cause the guy said you have to see this place. Brogan little beach town, right? There was, you know, really local bar, maybe a block or two off the beach and we walked up, and it was close, and but you can stare in the window. And it was wall wall eagles memorabilia how about that. Yeah. Exactly what I say. We'll look at this. And we were just standing San Diego. Now. This is about an hour north. Okay. San Diego and a little beach town. I made it couldn't be more. California's hit it with Iraq. Okay. And we're just, you know, standing in front of the bar, and there's nobody else around must've nine o'clock in the morning. We had another hour so to go a standard there and seventy died opened the doors. Can I help you? Well, no, not really we just wanted to look work from Philadelphia. And we heard this was. Because we'll come on in. And so he let us in a service beer and just started telling tales this guy ended up being do you remember in the seventies late? Seventies guy ran across the field that streaker. No now, he's scattered ashes. Oh, yeah. Or yeah. Hey, they they grabbed him and stop. Here's very he wasn't like running away from the first base from that mistake. Yeah. Well, it was it was for his grandmother's ashes, right? All right, the beautiful beach town too, and it's called sticks. And the funny thing is we left and we're driving down the road going. Well, that was interesting and we just had four beers. Repot: Johnny Manziel Signs Contract with Alliance of American Football

"Out there. But here's the other thing is we have another. Other fitting trainwreck that's popped their way onto the scene, and that would be Mr. Johnny Manziel, Johnny football who exiled himself to Canada for a little bit. And he was playing in the CFL. He actually forced his way out of the league. He got them to remove his contract and by doing so he's now signed with the alliance of American football that new backup league that spring league that you've seen games on CBS in NFL network. You might learn what the hell is Johnny Manziel has joined that league. And it's funny because when Manziel when that news broke, I saw it all over the place. Johnny Manziel is one of those names that has a lot of recognition you talk to a lot of people, and I would bet most people that aren't college football fans enough people that aren't college football fans would have some. Idea of who Johnny Manziel is isn't he a football player? I could see that. He's just been in the news a lot over the years for a guy who so young. And and here's the thing about it. Johnny Manziel has been in the news a lot. But it's not because he's a good player. Johnny manziel. Frankly. He sucks he's bad. And I didn't buy him as a prospect. He faded out of the league. And here's how quick it was. He got drafted at twenty fourteen. He got cut at the end of the twenty fifteen season. He lasted two years. That's it. It's horrible. You could really say he was in town for about a year and a half horrible. He goes to the CF L. He sucks there. He's not a good player. But Johnny Manziel is a guy that gets a lot of attention draws a lot of eyeballs people will watch the af for a couple of games watch his Memphis team play because they want to see Johnny Manziel. He's a big name he stumbled that people are attracted to. Why is that? That's what I have to ask. Why? Yeah. He was a Heisman winner. We don't care about a lot of Heisman winners. Where all the blogs about Kris Winky or Jason white where those guys I don't I don't hear much about him. Mark Ingram was a free agent. Former Heisman winner nobody really talked about that. Not a big angle eagles need former Heisman winner. Mark ingram. No, it's it's just not how it went. So nobody cares about Johnny Manziel the football player. Everybody cares about Johnny Manziel. The human train wreck the guy who's going in and out of rehab, the guy who's had all these different issues. Police calls all this different stuff. He's been a disaster. The guy's an absolute mess. The truth is people always drawn to train

"WIP. Markson race. I indirectly sauce in tweets to us regarding the interview, and I'm glad I did. Because some people are are are saying that we were we were thrown a meatballs, and we're soft during the interview. And if that's the way you heard it, I would imagine that you probably think that he's full of crap. And that he made it up and your Carson Wentz supporter who thinks that this entire thing is ridiculous that or you think you should come on and say name your sources what she isn't going to do which is an absurd question to begin with. Yes. Well, I mean, regardless you're entitled to feel the way you want to feel right? Like if you think he is full of it. You think that we were soft on them? Then you're entitled to feel that way just like players within the eagles locker room are entitled to feel the way that they wanna feel about a quarterback. And that's what I saw in with Joe Santa Luqueno road on the Philly voice today. I saw not not the whole team nine the jar Yuga players. But there is in. He used the word faction that locker room did thinks the Carson needs to change some things needs. Look if you didn't see the gist of it is Carson. Maybe getting a little full of himself. Maybe not necessarily listening coaching changing plays at the line of scrimmage. Whereas Nick foles comparison was more willing to go with whatever the play. Call was going through the progressions and spread the ball around a little bit more. And that's why the offense clicked there's also a sense that Carson place favorites. This is again, according to Joe Santa liquidity story on Philly voice. And first off. I don't think this is the end all be all Secondly, I think it could be some truth to a little bit of everything I think maybe Carson should stick to the system a little bit more. What is it the line of scrimmage, and I think maybe there are guys that aren't getting the ball that are none too happy about it and are more than willing to say something without putting their name behind it after reading this. Rob didn't I mean, this was just more or less an extension of Josina Anderson and what she reported. It was deeper it advanced the story a little bit. I guess it. Did you see Anderson wasn't very complex or or was what it was somebody who was unhappy with with the? Touches. Yeah. Which means it's not just Joe that's getting this. And I also didn't read it as a hatchet job either. I like, I think he was he Joe pointed this out, and we were talking to them. If you if you look at the arc of the story. He also mentions that these guys really think he's smart talented think he's dedicated to his craft and they want him to succeed. He just needs to do things. A little bit different quotes came for more than a half dozen players plus other sources close to the team, and I'll just read you a little bit of it. He says while he's been described as incredibly hardworking determined in highly intelligent wenches also been dubbed as quoting from the story selfish. Compromising uncompromising egotistical one who plays favorites and doesn't like to be questioned one who needs practice what he preaches and fails to take accountability. This is from the this is from the story Carson Wentz. His biggest enemy is Carson Wentz. He's had his ass kicked his his cast kissed his whole life and sometimes acts like one tenth Super Bowls. When he hasn't played them in let alone won a playoff game yet. Everyone around him. What's good things for him? He did more thinking on the field. They did playing in two thousand eighteen you don't have to be a brain surgeon or a football expert to see how differently this team plays in reacts with one guys opposed that he other and that part's true what's whence by far by far. I would take Wentz on my team is the starting quarterback. It's not it's not even close. There's nobody in the NFL. That would say I'm taking foles over Wentz in whatever there's there's nobody that's doing that. But it doesn't mean that the criticism is invalid to what you saw. When Nick foles came in. There was there was a difference in the team and you saw it immediately. And that I don't think is is even you can't even question it. He's not bulletproof. Okay. I've been a big supporter the whole time. And if you asked me even from the jump through all the run where foles played. Well, I want it wants to be the long term quarterback here. But it doesn't mean he's bulletproof. It doesn't mean. He didn't press a little bit. I I think John here's what I think happened this year. I don't think he was one hundred percent with the knee. I think that he wasn't able to practice and hone his craft last off season. And that hurt him. I think the back thing came up, and I think he started the press. I think that's the reason why you saw it up and down not necessarily all bad, but it up and down season. But ultimately with an off season to get his mind right to work on his game. And to be fully healthy. I think he comes back as an elite quarterback next year. That doesn't mean he's perfect. That doesn't mean that he can't be more amenable to advice the change things to looking at the way that Nick foles played. I would hope you can take something and learn something from sitting there. It's not just about you standing on the sidelines. It's about you. You know, gleaning something and taking something away from this. And I hope he's he's intellectual enough which I think he is to do that. I think everything the Joe wrote was fair, I know, Marcus Hayes, and I saw Kevin Cooney tweet this out that the issues that they're having with or more of a journalistic issue like knocking comment from Carson Wentz or asking for comedy hangs reason. I asked Joe about that which you did. Opportunity for once the communist Kevin Cooney says on there with all that like I might be going to disagree with it. I'm not I'm not a journalist. So I they're making a lot of sense that you should ask Carson Wentz. This is going to be a Carson Wentz story short. You should ask the team for comment. Whatever you want to say with that fine. I'm looking at the details that are inside the inside the story. And then the fallout of the reaction is naturally. There're going to be players coming to his defense naturally. You're not gonna have anybody on record saying. Yeah, you know, what Joe said is is that on if you're a player on this team. How does that help you could say, hey, it's not takes. No guts to do. What they did. It's cowardly to be anonymous fair, but they're not going to be on record doing this. How is that helping you with the starting quarterback next year? If you want to get more brass thrown your way. Yes, it seems that we're doing a lot of debating about. Well lot of fans are saying you can't use named sources. That's bogus. That's fake news. You're getting people in the media saying, well, you should have done this. You should have done that. She doesn't this. What about what about the information? That's. Actually in the in the interview in the story in the area and the story. Yeah. That's what I'm looking at today. And it seems like there's there's something there. He's not making. I don't believe he's making stuff up. Let's go to grasp in media, Pennsylvania. Hi, graph gentleman. This has been one when pretty interesting day today. Rob john? How are you? You guys are probably going through like in here. It. And I just I just I just have something to present. Kind of going on here. And that's the fact that like. Is it really so hard to suggest a course mental like complex, which is really that hard been the center. Every single football organization. He's been whether it's been pop Warner whether it's been college or the NFL, it doesn't really matter. He's Carson Wentz. Like, he's one of the top recruited quarterbacks of his group. He was. He he went to a heating division one school. I understand that route. But I guess my point is that she hasn't summary shape or form in an individual that many people look down short himself. Like, this guy is an incredible athlete. It is no surprise to me that you may have some form of conflicts over it. I don't understand why people make such a big deal. Now the way in which the article was written shirt, maybe a little bit off days because it may be a little harsh. But at the same time like anything, you always article for me is proves the Carson Wentz isn't isn't ginger Jesus as many people suspect him to be like he is. Yeah. She has emotions keep went through a terrible injury. And then on top of that was forced into a position this year. Then probably shouldn't have been forced into. And honestly, the season was slipping away in the sense that if it continues to trend with Nick foles, then probably wouldn't have wound up in the playoffs with Carson Wentz not re entered the season. That was what the eagles organization sorta. Did they move too quickly? That's a question for another day, I suppose, but in the long run, it's no surprise to me that he may have had an attitude in that locker room because he was injured and on top of that plane with an inability to make the plays that he's capable of beforehand. Let's all remember one thing. No one said anything negative about Carson Wentz last year when she was thirty one for seven or it's it is of no surprise to me that he may have been a little bit of a criminal inside the locker room, go through means re. And then go through the bag. Graf? Here's here's the I think this is the end. It's a good comment. Here's the only question that I would ask any eagle fan out there. Or what they should care about. Does this affect next year? This is this is effect. Carson Wentz the franchise quarterback going forward. I don't I don't. I mean, I hope not. I don't think it does. I don't think there's any alarm that needs to be sounded. But if things like discontinued happen, and there continues to be discord disconnect anonymous sources stories that come out, then you have a potentially bigger issue. This is just this is telling me that you know, like in a lot of teams, it's not Camelot. It is not I probably should know that there's a big difference between note worthy something to keep your eye on and four alarm fire. Like what happened in Pittsburgh this year with bell and Antonio Brown? That's that is like an unfixable. Maybe to the point where I'm not sure if it was any other we're gonna nation that Mike Tomlin would've survived because they don't they just don't fire coach agreed with the eagles. This seems like stuff that can be easily straight doubt with a conversation or two that's bears. A big difference between. That and that maybe a different perspective. Maybe someone getting getting a hold a Carson and saying, hey, listen, covering, maybe he doesn't have the greatest. This is something that is talked about. And I think you see a lot with what Chris long did. Right. Chris long shrine to to Nick foles. And does that mean that he he loves Nick foles more? The Carson Wentz. It doesn't have anything to do with that. It means how much he appreciates Nick foles, and what I saw with his teammates were they really appreciate it and really liked Nick. There was a connection. Yes. I don't know if Carson has the same kind of connection with his teammates that we saw. And that's something that Carson can work on you can work on with doing some little things like that. And that's fair. John. And I and I don't know do you. Do you grow a bond with someone when they take you alternate? I know, you know, he was more of the closer than the starter, whatever. But when Nick foles take you a Super Bowl that is a that is a strong and Carson Wentz as much as he tried his rear end off to be that guy wasn't able to finish the job either. Either. Are those two years and that puts a strain maybe on a relationship, and it's just real, and I believe in the guy, but I'm just telling you he wasn't there to close it out. And maybe he can't have that same kind of bond right now the Nick foles had because simply put Nick foles accomplish the ultimate coming up. We'll update you Ben right now he's in. He's not only on Instagram. He's on Twitter..

"WIP. Saying how? Stalked jolly about tomorrow's games. Tom Brady greatest of all time. What if I told you that Mark Sanchez has more career road playoff wins? Then Tom Brady Tom Brady and his careers three and four s because they always have number one seed, and when they haven't they've no they haven't been the same team. He's three and four and his career on the road. He's lost his last three his last road AFC championship game win was it. Pittsburgh, no four. That's kinda interesting. Ron telfer? You are next. What's going on Ron? I disagree with what you're saying about the defense. Audible twenty votes. That's great. But time and time again, we've seen certain long fourth and long. You're getting first downs on our defense. And it's not just this game. It happened. They're not perfect. They're not a perfect defense are also down seven Cornerbacks. Place. I understand it. But one or two of those long distance first downs could have made a difference in the game young week. They could have held him to thirteen points. I agree. But you know, I'll take twenty I'll take twenty points. However, they get it and take my chances. I mean, they had Josh Hawkins out there. Oh, what did he did? He always target. Yeah. Every time forty eight was out there drew went after him watch the game every single time. That's when that's when they got the touchdown. All right. Well, they only got they only they didn't they scored six points when resources in the game. I mean, I don't know what to tell you. They they every defense. And this is what I don't get is a doesn't matter. How you get their teams. You're going to convert place. Drew Brees going to convert a third long. He's a he's one of the greatest of all time. But if you can hold them the twenty you should win the game. That's that's it. This is a defense that really found itself late. Jim Schwartz has won a Super Bowl with this team one other defensive coordinator stunt that nobody not Emmett Smith. Not Jim Johnson, not want castio dot Todd Bowles that Sean McDermott not Marion Campbell. Not Emmitt Thomas. And comes back this year with all these injuries and gives us the chance to win. Jeff do jersey. What's up? Jeff. Hey, how you doing? What's going on? One or two things on my mind. I know we were talking about sitting a couple of high quality quarterbacks underneath the salary cap. You know, I mean, obviously, we have that issue at this day and age, I understood the competitive balanced side of the salary cap in like the initiation of the NFL and like as a group, but I mean, there's so many billions of dollars involved in seemingly all the organizations have access to the same price of dollars. Like and NBA is similar, you know, it's like why, you know, in your opinion. I know the CBS can be complicated. It's like why is there even a salary cap? Like why why should that even be an issue at this point in a game? You know? Yeah. I mean, I think it's just like you said not every owner is created the same. You know, sometimes you have corporation. Sometimes you have a family. I'm Jeff Lurie is wealthy beyond my nation. But at some point his funds are limited. You know? So if there was no salary. Kapka Jeff Lurie compete for the top free agents against strong came on yet without him, which I can't do. So that's true. I I was just gonna say, you know, independent, you know, wealth aside, and I do have a limited understanding, but there is some sort of large shared, you know, like income that the NFL has distributed every year. Yeah. Tv revenues distributed. I mean, it's a fair question. I think I think it's just a kind of you know, guarantee that that level playing field. No company comes along with unlimited pockets and all of a sudden rise and buys a team. And you know pays all the best players in the leaf fifty billion. You know, whatever it is. Fair point. Yeah. No, you're right. So, but it goes up every year, and you know, and and thanks for the call Jeff it goes up every year. And it's going to go up a lot the next couple of years from what they're saying. So I think and I'll tell you what one thing as long as there is a salary cap. The eagles have an advantage because nobody had those at better than Howie. And he learned from the best Joe banner and eagles of have rarely had cap problems. And even this year when you think they will they won't because how you figure it out and he'll restructure. He'll move this money over here. He'll figure something out. And they'll they'll get who. They wanna get saieed is in. Mt. Laura. What's up site? Hey, how you doing man? How are you? Man love watching on TV. I'll take you. Appreciate that quick. Sound quick? It's always up there talking knowledge. Appreciate it. Yeah. Well, yeah. About what you're saying about Jim Schwartz. I couldn't agree more with you. I mean, what do you have to deal with this year same as last year? And he put it together. You know, when it mattered the most he put it together. I mean, I feel like. His coming his second coming this season was after the saints came after he got completely annihilated. And I thought that was rock bottom. But I I I just knew that if he had some of these players like Maddix, and even the block you had them for a few weeks, and and they got some experience in a scheme, and they practice I feel like he was going to coach him up. And that's what he did. He coached those guys up. I mean, what block was a no one and he had an amazing pick in a playoff game credible. Workplace of all time. Incredible incredible plan it had any significant play in the bears game. Yes. He did. Was a great play. I I could have sworn that. That was going to be at the one yard line. You know, that's what they want. Give him at the one yard line. And I was just like, wow. What they did. But. You could say that about all those guys. I mean residual was not a good cornerback year. He came so far. Trae Sullivan was on the practice squad. All players. Yes. He does. And and when you have young guys twenty one twenty two twenty three like all those quarterbacks. That's what it's all about. It's all about teaching and making progress they did that he should be commended for that. You should be commended for that. And I feel like next year we're draft. Well, we have a lot of traffic's coming up. We have some pretty decent corners. I would say going into next year for what we've seen with Maddix for saw. What Brock even slot jerk. Yeah. I know I'm a dollar Darby might be in the mix. We have a pretty decent secondary Barnes coming back. And they're working my lose, Brandon Graham, but I'm excited about next year. And I'm excited about having Carson here, you know, people. We should be grateful to have a franchise quarterback in the wings because just having a franchise quarterback makes you relevant, man. And that's what I want. I want we have a Super Bowl and I want Carson. I know he's going to be great for the next ten to twelve years. Hopefully, and and I want to get another Super Bowl from if I get one from Carson, I'll be satisfied, man. Appreciate your. Got stuck great call. Really appreciate it. Yeah. I I agree with everything you said, and and I I think that's a great point as long as Carson's. Here are going to be good. It's it's not going to be this roller coaster of six and ten one year ten at six the next year. I mean, he's that good. They're going to be really good and competitive and in the mix every year, and you know, what I I believe that Carson Wentz. When all said and done we'll have we'll have a Super Bowl of his own. I do he's that good. Let's finish up with Frank in Wilmington. What's up? Right. Hey, how you doing ripped great. Got it, man. I mean, I am. I think we really need to address the running back this shield. Yes. I mean, I know people are calling for baby bell. But you have Mark Ingram gonna be out there free agency. I like. Isn't the guy from Atlanta a free agent? Kevin. Yup. Yeah. I like I like Ingram. I think they're both good options as free agents as long as they don't want, you know, huge money. I also think it's a it's a decent draft for running backs. But there's no question they got rebuild that position. Well, yes, I take it would take a lot of pressure off of Carson if he had a good running game and something one of your callers before talks about why with the cap why couldn't they do like a baseball where they give like a luxury tax. If you go over certain amounts. Well, I think. Yeah. I think that just kind of creates out of control spending. I I think that's why they don't do it. I it just, you know, even with a luxury tax, you you're going to end up with teams that don't care about it and don't mind going over because they can afford to pay the luxury tax as low as you have families that own pro sports franchises. It's hard for them to be competitive. Frank in a in a landscape where giant corporations have unlimited bottomless pockets, so I like family owned teams. I don't know if the future is going to allow for that to happen. But I you know, I think it's just it's just designed to keep things fair and keep everybody competitive. Nobody wants to see, you know, in baseball, you basically, you have the same teams, you know, basically winning every year. And I think a salary cap at least helps avoid that. We've got a couple of minutes left the habit talked about tomorrow yet. I wanted to do that before we go. NFC? I really liked the saints to win this thing fairly fairly easily by ten points. Like something like thirty one Twenty-one. I'll go thirty one Twenty-one saints. I think the Rams. I think they peaked with with the Dallas when it was very good win young quarterback on the road. And that building is it's very tough place to play. I I had a splitting headache when I walked out of there Sunday night. Just because it's so unbelievably loud, it's the second loudest stadium. I've ever been in the loudest was what do they call it? The the the Delman Saint Louis TWA down or the Edward Jones dome. I remember the two thousand one NFC championship game. I've never experienced anything. It was so loud in there. We learned later that they were piping in fake crowd noise. It was it was all, you know. An and I mean, you're literally like sick to your stomach. It was so loud. You you're like you wanna puke? New Orleans wasn't quite that loud. But it was all it was real crowd noise. You could tell you can tell the fake crowd noise because it kind of. It's not real organic. You know that kind of maybe starts to suddenly or it's too loud considering like there could be like a four yard gain. All of a sudden, there's this like coffee of San well, that's not the real world. There's different levels of sound that have to match the play. And you kind of get a sense and Saint Louis was fake. And they were they're definitely pump fake noise. New orleans. It's so loud in that place. As he'll be tough for for Jared Goff to come in as a young quarterback and play. Well, that that states defense show me a little bit of something that's a better saints defense. So they've had lately and Sam I'm gonna go saints. AFC games. An intriguing wants to me, obviously, I've known big red twenty years. I go I go back to nineteen ninety nine with Andy Reid. I consider him a friend. I hope he wins. Just because you know, you spend that much time with somebody you hope he does. Well, he's a good person. I'd love to see him get a ring before he hangs it up. It's tough game and bowel check has his number. But the patriots just aren't the same team on the road and arrowheads a tough place to play. Also, you know, when when you have number one seed, and you have one two in one two that's why that's why earned at number one seed we saw we saw what the eagles dentist soda as the number one seat. A year ago? And and what that defense. Did you just realize eagles defense has played five games under Jim Schwartz? Right. Whether it was was the Atlanta score fifty two ten Minnesota was thirty nine seven or something. So other than the Super Bowl they've held all four. The other four teams they've faced to twenty or fewer points. Thirty three. Scored one hundred but they did. But anyway. I like the chiefs. I just think that I think it's I think Mahomes is something special. I think there's a real kind of changing of the guard here the greatest quarterback in the last twenty years and a guy who is just freakishly talented. Nothing seems to bother Mahomes the moments not going to be too big for him. And that's his defense is awful on the road. But they're not bad at home. And I think if it was if this game was in Foxborough the patriots already beat him at Foxboro. It was close. I pick the patriots. If this game was in Foxborough.

"Dave WIP morning show Twitter question did the eagles do the right thing by generating a Dallas fan from training camp yesterday. Eighty-one percent say yes. All right. I like the you're saying that. Percent. Percent what a cowboy fan wearing a desert Bryant jersey at eagles traded camp by invitation only they weren't doing this at the wink bid doing it. Because here it is a specific crowd. That is brought here by invitation. Now, the eagles fans and the people that are here have to look at a cowboy jersey, right? And you're right on the field here. This isn't like it's the Lakers like Lehigh or anything like that. You're right on the field. By the way, we've got word that does not right now. Right now, he has walked upright the second. Right. That I will wait because there was a very serious situation that took place in bucks, Montgomery counties. Apparently, there was a daft man and the Cowboys had stealing baby formula. Yeah. There's this quite a story. We have some information that we have a Yuki washy is report which will play but not until after we talked to Jordan Hicks because everybody the focus so far this training camp has been more on the defense at some of the struggles that has had been on the offense which had been fortified greatly by some new weapon. So March Marshall Mark that's really the big question. Oh, sure. Anytime anyone wants to talk about them possibly missing the playoffs to talk about the defensive side of things. They talk about the coroner's, right? But what people are really confident and the one playmaker. You can really look consistently on this team is Jordan Hicks. Well, that's the number one. When when it's you gotta get a stop late negate. Absolutely. I'm looking for Jordan Hicks to be in the right spot to make the play could somehow he has that nap. And he's had that knack whole career always around the ball. And I believe he is arriving at a trailer here right down here. Leader of the Philadelphia Eagles defending the middle linebacker. Jordan Hicks is with us right now. Hi, jordan. How's it going? How you doing? We were just talking about your ability to know where the but make the big place to get the turnover. You're born with that where does that come from? You know, I think it comes from a combination of of preparation, I take a lot of pride in my preparation. But also understanding how the offense is trying to tackle in. Where are you know in certain defenses how they try to attack you weekend and week out. You get a lot of the same combinations. People just kind of try to get to a differently in late in game situation. That's when I see you. Yeah. You kind of say to yourself. This is the moment. I gotta do this. You know, it's I have that type of mentality. But at the same time, you know, it's within the scheme and the offense usually dictates if the quarterbacks assigned not to throw my way, there's no way I'm making those plays. Right. So. It's a combination of a little little bit of everything. But. You know, I take pride and making those plays. And you know, it's something that I've always felt like I've had the ability to do. And and luckily, and and, thankfully, I've had the ability and the opportunity to do it these past couple of years, I would like to apologize to you. I've been staring at your hands already. Pinky kids. Can't see it. Right. It's not an a splinter kids too. So. It is broke. It is broken. Yeah. Here's a little scar. Thing. This happened getting out of a pool on your honeymoon. I was out of the pool on my honeymoon already. And I was in. I was walking back to the room, and I slipped and try to catch myself and put my hand down. And luckily, it was just just a pinkie. All right. But did I not tell you not to get married? I swear. Must've said. Oh, man. I have people ask me. Of course. I'm sure man. I love this. I love this girl. Well worth the man honeymoon was awesome. You know, it's it's once in a lifetime. And you know, I love my wife very, much and. You wouldn't win the trade the situation for anything. I was going to ask you if there was restricted you. But it doesn't look like I mean, you're moving if you're in any way, it really, isn't it really isn't. I was on hand specialists here within the next couple of days. I was able to move it around. And you know, I didn't have very much range of motion I've gotten to two full range of motion now, but. You know, just had to work through it. And it's it's just I said it multiple times just a picky. You know, it it it could have been a lot worse. And I'm and I'm lucky it was just this. And you actually sent video to the eagles moving your whose idea was that was that was that's a good question. It could have been I think it was there's just to just to kind of get an understanding of where we're at actually got the X Ray in Santa Rini. Hospital. Yeah. It was it was an experience, but got the got the X Ray. And it was clearly broken. And they were like, you know, you're gonna you're gonna end up getting surgery here when you get back. So just enjoy your honeymoon will address the when you get back, and that's what we did should have been a better story than that. I know I wish I wish I had a better story, man. That's. I'm so glad you're the leader this defense, and I want to know about the Cornerbacks Jordan because so many people are expressing concern at that position. Oh, we concern. Is there we have we have a lot of confidence in our guys, man. We got. P rob who is a vet who understands the game and knows what's expect. But he's in you know, we got guys in that room her young talented players and at the end of the day. None of us are where we wanna be. Linebackers. We got we got a lot of a lot of work to do. And that's what we're doing here on the field. So. You know, we're all just working to get to that point Cornerbacks. Man. I'm telling you we have a lot of people this year. They got we had playmakers. We've got guys out there who can cover guys who understand the game. There is more of a challenge because the weapons of better on offense. Right. It's hard to cover and Alcyone Jeffrey one on one that kind of very hard. So these guys are learning against some elite receivers that's part of it is that part of the struggle right now. Would I don't I don't. I'm not clear on what you mean struggle. I mean well Patrick Robinson yesterday after practice said that he he's been terrible. I mean, he couldn't have been more critical of themselves. And and he's on the record saying, and he's a guy that you guys accounting. Right. So I'm wondering if he's acknowledging that exactly where they are. No, we want you think he's being overly critical. I think I think that's the kind of mentality. You want out of those guys? You know, if you've got a guy out there who's who's saying, no, we're good. We're we're fine right now. You know, everything's okay. That's not. That's that's not how you get better. That's not how you go out there and compete every single day. That's not how you put a chip on your shoulder to go out there and make sure you're doing everything you need to do to lock down. So, you know. P p rob has been around the game a lot and for a long time. So he understands his level and his expectation, and and that's kind of what he is bringing to this to this cornerback room. And you know, I think, you know, the young guys in that room who are who are going to get that shot. You know are looking at him and are saying, well if he's not doing, well, what am I doing? You know? Absolutely that expectation is just raising and raising and raising, and and you know, that's how you get better day in and day out. You have to you have to just work for that expectation. We were just talking a couple of minutes ago to Carson Wentz. And that's seven and nights. Stuck in his crew? He's not used to having a losing record. Yeah. How did you react to it? Yeah. Yeah. It was it was I think what hurt me the most is that there were so many games that if we would have just finished business that we would have been that record would have been so opposite. I think back to times when we had leads you know, we should beat the Cowboys twice. You know, just because we had that we had what a ten point lead going into the fourth or whatever. The lions the giants. We had an opportunity to win that game. There's there's so many games that came down to the end and with such a young team. You know, we wish we could have done that. And it's done just like Carson said that sticks with you. But it's somewhere to build on. And it's something to build on. Because you know, again, we've brought in a lot of weapons we've got guys who've been in that situation now and understand, you know, those last minutes of the game and finished in the game is so critical in this league because the competition in the margin of error, so small Jordan give us a little scouting report on what you've seen so far from the number one pick Derrick Burnett at how much overall is the pass rush going to be better this year, man. He is a guy with a crazy motor just constantly going constantly going. You see his effort out there on the field chasing balls down. Thirty yards downfield just constantly run into the ball. His pass rushes is obviously top of his game. And you know, he reminds me a lot of of guy like BG source strong, but just motor and constantly around the ball and and making plays happen. So you know, I've got a lot of confidence in him. And and I'm really excited to see what he's going to do here in the preseason throughout the year. How about the Russia's a whole because whip kind of counting on them to make it easier for the debate. Yeah. Yeah. And for everybody, you know, our defense goes is our D line goes. And that's how this this defense is built. And I think bringing in him and guys like TIMMY Jernigan Chris long, you know, guys who can play at a very high level. You know, you you take a couple of guys out and put put the second string or so-called guys in. It's like you have a first team defense out there or first team D line out there. And so the depth is awesome. The again, the expectation is high because they have so so many guys in there that that understand and and that have played this game. And you know, we're expecting a lot out of the city is expecting a lot out of them. You know, really what it means this city when the eagles are winning when you guys were three and then had the bible. Yeah. It was like a month long celebration was about there. Right. Yeah. We do. We did I I'm just curious when you're playing against Carson Wentz in practice. And he's in his second year. Is it different? Do you see him as more is? He know things better. He was telling what it was like as a number three quarterback a year ago at this time how different is he from? I think the biggest thing I see is his ability to manipulate a defense looking off linebackers looking out off DB's. You know, he's really catching on to kind of what we're doing. And he is definitely a more confident guy quarterback. And just understanding what we're doing man, I'm telling you he's I haven't gotten a pick on him since last year. Yeah. It's it's it's frustrating because in practice, you know, you're trying to trying to get them and get ready for the games, but don't want against him. It's it's tough because he's he's just on point and his his attention to detail is is so particular, you know, he he wants to make every right decision. Do you like tackling in training camp? Yeah. I mean, I think it's necessary. You do I do. I think it gets you ready for for game time. If you don't tackle until the game. You know, you're going to get out there and angles might be a little off because if you're going in, and you're you're you're you're tagging off at the hip. It's completely different. The mindset is completely different angles are completely different. So you've got to make sure that you know, you get that practice last question. I've just curious because most people when they get married have a new perspective on life, man. Oh, man. Here we go. My children. You know, what this is going? Do you look at things differently? I'm not sure if I'm there yet. Okay. You know, my my wife, and I have been together for four years we've been really together in this thing for you know, a solid three and a half of those years. So it's it's been awesome. You know, a lot of my attention has gone to that. Even when we weren't married does. She give you a little import a few. She takes you missed play. Hey, look at Marsha if I if I miss a tackle. Does. She knows a good flavor in Rabat place isn't enough football. She the reason they all linebackers and interceptions last. Oh, maybe. Join needless to say, we're thrilled. He came by. And with real we're really looking forward to this season. It's really football season or wait till football, Philadelphia. That's the whole twelve months, but thank you for coming by nothing. But good luck. And have a great sees. Thanks for having me. Lazy German eight eight eight seven hundred ninety four ninety.

It was certainly attest than Eastern Conference tasks one that they failed. Again, they are now what maybe Owen four in these games this year against these better Eastern Conference teams. I think that's the record. So again, they come up short against the quality Eastern Conference team. We'll get into that. Flyers back at it tonight. John, and I will be down there for the game. Looking forward to that lot of people have won tickets over the last couple of weeks on the show a lot of our listeners callers more flyers tickets online today Chris yesterday, also from a college basketball standpoint, we see Villanova pull away from temple. Really? I just I know I've heard that somewhere. That's the number somewhere in time. If I may John I don't know if that was back there were Jane Seymour, and and. Stop our party, Christopher Reeve. But somewhere in time movie man, I have heard that I get so eight eight seven nine nine hundred ninety four he saw the Sixers game last night. When react, obviously, we'll take your calls. It was frustrating. They played a competitive game for a while. But unfortunately, you know, A M B just was not on. And you know, Ben just not scoring much and Jimmy scored at time. But you just don't get enough from the other guys. Also, you know, you see clearly how Toronto has got a more complete team at this point. So we'll take your reaction on the Sixers loss to Toronto. And kind of where they are you willing to give Toronto their props at this point. Yeah. Give Toronto still trash on every time with freshness. But there are no good. They've flipped flipped out. A really good player for really. They're not very good. I haven't been cares. The got quiet. They're really good team right now. And there will look they they got the better than the Sixers last night's last night shows that the Sixers are not currently good enough. And they're incomplete. I mean, there's there's no other way round. The Sixers are not currently good enough. And they're incomplete and they've got to get better. They probably got to get more pieces in order to you know, there's no question. There's no. They know they do need to get need to get more pieces in order to get the Celtics. And I got it so reaction on the seventy Sixers if you saw the game last night. Again, eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four as the Sixers go down to Toronto.
