At this point. The plot details have been kind of kept under wraps up about the upcoming adaptation will reportedly center around Willy Wonka's early days prior to operating his elaborate fact. The range in the really Wonka movie. They kind of mentioned when they're great. Paul Joe right there. Would you work with them? I think so. Yeah. So we don't know if the Opal Lupas will make an appearance. And maybe this will show the part where he meets the Lupus. There goes the Lupoli. I know. I don't know. But would it be an idea that you would say Yeah, I would probably check that. Did you say I'm sorry? I missed that. If he did, he said, who's playing Willy? They don't have that Cassidy. That's crucial for May. I would agree with that, so,

The Social Side of Stuttering

"So today's the inauguration which got us thinking about speechmaking and speech itself president elect. Joe biden has spoken publicly about his childhood stutter. An estimated one percent of the world's adults stutter so in the us that translates to three million people speech pathologists. Naomi rogers one of them might name. Is naomi rogers. I am an assistant professor at the department of special education and communication disorders at the university of nebraska. Lincoln stuttering is when a person repeats or prolong sounds syllables and words causing breaks in the flow of speech or disfluencies. Often it begins in childhood. Childhood stutters disappear. Some stay with a person. All their life. Naomi describes stuttering as a social phenomenon. Stuttering tends to only occur in the context of other people people who stutter tend to speak really fluently when they are talking to themselves when they are talking to their pets when they are singing when they're reading in unison with other people. Scientists don't know exactly what causes stuttering the research is increasingly linking it to genetics in one. Study two thirds of people who stuttered had a family member who also stuttered or use to stuttering likely rooted in neurobiology and the actual mechanics of speech. When biden is sworn in as president. Today he'll get a very important speech but it's actually different speech that naomi keeps thinking about from thirteen year. Old braid and harrington who was invited to endorse then candidate biden the democratic national convention in august. Hi my name is bridges harrington nine thirteen years old and without joe biden. I won't be talking to you today about a few months ago. I met him in new hampshire. He told me that we were members of the same club. We we stutter. Was really amazing to hear that someone like maybe became move about advice para para President just listening to it. Just now for the mtv times goosebumps Again just thinking about the pervasive narrative that exists in our society that You know stuttering openly. is not desirable the fact that he was able to just be himself talk in his most. Authentic voice was incredibly huge today on the show the social side of stuttering what it feels like to stutter as a kid and to hide it and how speech pathologists new me. Rogers is pushing for a new way of thinking about it. Altogether this is shortwave from npr. This message comes from. npr sponsor. Bank of america. You finally decided to learn how to ice skate. Her stutter a in childhood and in her words she didn't have effective therapy through elementary school. I would get pulled out of class and go practice reading tongue. Twisters on sounds that. I didn't even have trouble saying and so like a lot of other young people who stutter you. Learn from a very young age had a kind of go underground. Had kind of keep the stuttering to yourself inside Just because you know that nobody else in your life understands what your experiences like and that is the root of wet. Yeah a lot of like early. Shame and fearful nobility comes from. I think for a lot of folks who stutter When i got into high school. I started working with a phenomenal speech. Language pathologists who is also person who starters herself. And so for the first time. I felt like i could actually talk to somebody that understood the experience. Do you remember what this speech therapists said to you. That made an impact or even just how you felt her presence. Yeah a lot of my memories are of just crying. Honestly i remember going to her office weekly. I would drive an hour each way. Spend an hour there. And i would just unload could finally breathe. I felt like. I could finally talk to somebody who understood the experience and that was. That was my outlet. I cried out. She knew very early on that. I had no interest in learning how to speak more fluently. Practice specific strategies are taking me for making my speech. sam hound really fluent. You know i. I i really just wanted somebody to the holiday. My feelings and my thoughts about sorting and overall communication like who. I was personality as a communicator. And she was really successful in doing that. And and i'm actually wondering now if those early experiences in therapy that i had motivated me to suppress a lot of my stuttering and to hide it at all possible costs. Because i didn't want to go to therapy anymore. Is that what you meant a minute ago. About going underground yet you that you basically hit it as a kid before you met this really good speech therapist. Yeah yeah exactly. Just kind of hiding it and so one of you know. I think being a person who stutters pretty mildly as i do. It's it's pretty easy for me to hide my stuttering It's pretty easy to just scan ahead. Anticipated where i'm going to start on swap word. That's easier to say and so there are some sometimes when my language might seem a little convoluted or like i'm talking around something or like that's kind of an odd were choice but it works. I mean those are all done in an attempt to hide stuttering to pass as a fluent speaker. I'm picturing you in this office. You go to see her and you just cry and she knew that you didn't want to improve fluency. That wasn't the goal and it seemed like the biggest shift between that therapy and the therapy received as a kid is a therapy received. A kid is so focused on fixing yet you yet it. It almost seems like the medical model. It gets at the wrong thing. I without even individ- waiting like the treatment for the person and i'm just wondering if you could like describe the difference in those. Two therapy modalities and how it helped you. So those early experiences says Was speech therapy. were hugely rooted in the medical model of disability and so the medical model of disability defines stuttering basically as abnormal interruptions in the ford flow of speech. And so that is purely grounded. In what the listener hears as nothing to do with what the speaker who studies is experiencing so it's like a listener center definition of actually. Yeah with is messed up because stuttering is such a personal experience right and so people who stutter it. There stuttering only that is a true expression of who they are. They're just using their voice however they were born with it and so the barriers to good quality of life to psychological wellbeing are really on the environment and so i love this new definition. That a lot of folks in our field are trying to push forward that Stuttering is a neuro developmental variation. That leads to a unique forward. Execution of speech sounds importantly those are produced in the context of language and social interaction if we think about fluency on a spectrum of people that are highly fluent and we have people that are highly disfluent then stuttering reflects just a natural variation influence e which i think is really really important and and it situates stuttering as a difference and not

"Well they're warning to senators who intend to trade. On inside information. You will probably not face consequences. North carolina senator richard. Burr found out. Yesterday he won't be charged with insider trading by the department of justice for selling off stocks in february just weeks before the market crashed. Burr was the subject of a month long investigation into a sale of between six hundred thirty thousand and one point seven million dollars in stocks after he receives senators only briefings that made the severity of the cova threat. Clear for other senators were also implicated including kelly laughlin and david purdue but they were absolved wrongdoing by august of last year. That freed up the georgia senators to get back to their first priorities of wearing jeans to try and look normal and still losing runoff elections. Burs investigation went on longer involving grand jury subpoenas and even the fbi caesar of the cell phone. He stepped down from his position as chairman of the senate intelligence committee during that process though he had already announced his plan to retire when his term ends and twenty twenty two presumably his flawless portfolio. Kristy Swanson defends Trump from 'cancel culture,' demands to be removed from John Hughes films

"Actress. Kristy swanson wants to be cancelled and she wants to be cancelled to support a president trump. So let me explain this forty five years ago. Well she's she wants to get in the time machine and b. Can't let me explain last week. Fans called for trump to be digitally removed from home alone two loss to new york and over the weekend. She tweeted because she was worried. Who want oh. We want to be digitally removed. Taken out of home alone to wow. This is scary and kind of tearing down. Statues is one thing but that digit physical but digitally removed. That's interesting yeah. I agree to this thing is like you're honoring racist or whatever but like he was in there was an extra ticket. Oj naked gun ignored. Berg gotta make berg. So she's kind of calling the bluff in some way says if cancel culture is really going to have donald trump removed from the john hughes movie Then in support of my president. I'd like to have myself officially removed from the john hughes films. Pretty in pink and fares. Buehler's day off now if you don't remember pretty in pink. She's at the very end. I think she's the one that does the speech about fairs like my sister's boyfriend's cousin's you know some fainted flavors. I heard it's pretty serious. That's kristy swanson. Senate begins Biden Cabinet confirmation hearings

"Just a few hours. Until joe biden takes the oath of office and becomes the forty six president of the united states. five of his most high profile cabinet nominees five of them got their senate confirmation hearings today. Secretary of state nominee antony blinken appeared before the foreign relations committee armed services committee question. Defense secretary nominee. Lloyd austin janet yellen who's biden's nominee for treasury secretary. She had her hearing before the finance committee. Also hearing for biden's pick to head homeland security alejandro may orcas and the director of national intelligence nominee of real hanes. Got her hearing as well five. Really big ones right. I mean state defense treasury homeland security intelligence five of them all at once today. We never have this many nominees for huge cabinet positions all having their confirmation hearings all on the same day. That's because in years past when a new administration was on its way in the senate would hold hearings for new cabinet secretaries over a period of days many days in advance of the inauguration so the new president could have at least some of his cabinet in place when he actually took office. Not this time. Though this time we got all these hearings all at once. Literally the day before the inauguration because the republican controlled senate just chose not to get their act together to move on. Move on biden's nominations before now they had some very important recesses. Take among other things i swear. The senate didn't even come back from their latest vacation until today. Yeah no rush when you haven't held confirmation hearings for anyone before today feel free to take a few more days off so biden is having to take off with an empty cabinet with literally. No cabinet secretaries confirmed including in critical national security positions which is totally unprecedented. on president. obama took office in two thousand nine seven of his cabinet. Secretaries were confirmed. By the end of inauguration day. many of president trump's cabinet picks face more opposition in the senate but even he took office with his defense secretary in his homeland security secretary in place. This time though. Barring some kind of senate miracle joe biden will have no one in. His entire cabinet confirmed on his first day including in the major national security positions and bad news. Good news on that front. The bad news is the obvious. The bad news is that that means president biden is going to start with a whole bunch of acting temporary. Fill in cabinet secretaries instead of full blown senate confirmed cabinet secretaries of his choosing which will just make it that much harder for the new president to hit the ground running and that's true in terms of policy matters that's also true in terms of national security. It's worrying for all the obvious reasons. That's the bad news but the good news is that the trump administration has been so profoundly dysfunctional for four whole years that we're actually starting used to that now. We're actually sort of used to having only acting stand in non-confirmed secretaries at all the most important jobs in the cabin and that's not something that the republican controlled senate screwed up for trump despite him doing it the right way. That's just the way he ran the government. I mean thanks to republican senator josh hawley slowing down the process and the homeland security committee. Joe biden is going to have to settle for an acting homeland security secretary for at least a few days but the united states has already had nothing but the homeland security secretaries for like two years under donald trump the longest they can see in the presidential cabinet ever because donald trump could just never get it together to have real nominees who got really confirmed by the senate and who held their job with all the attendant powers so maybe four years and terrible governance. Maybe we are better at running government poorly in that way there was would have been before this four year experiment and terrible governance. That is now coming to a clicks.

Franchising where are you with hitman. Three my my My history with The hitman series intermittent played the since the very very first hitman gained back in to die. It's a franchise that has has come and gone and has at various different reboots and it seems like re in recent years. It's really coming to. It's the most recent iterations hitman year when they were rolling them out as episodes that was really really popular with people really likes them. I've always tried to get into them. And i've heard something about them just never quite connected with me and i think that's just more to do with that's less to do with the game's not being good games and more to do with him just being somehow like just incompatible with my own tastes gators off you no matter how but i feel i feel like that but not like in a big way is a big disconnect some like. I know. there's a game here that i would really enjoy. If i could just get into it. So i feel like this with this new hitman. Three is the perfect opportunity for me to give it like one more. I'm really gonna try. I'm really going to try to get into. I'm excited about it. I think my wife my About her favorite. Pop the assassin's creed. Games sneaking around us astern people. That's literally all you do so might be it might be hookup as well. I'm very keen to try. I'm also very glad patrick. Click onto the question for me. Hold on because. I think that question might lead into diego's question he wrote into patriots dot com slash. Kind of funny games says hi guys. First time longtime reviews for main three are out and largely positive. My question is simple as someone who never played one of these. Is it worth starting with three or their changes to the mechanics so minimal that maybe i should start with cheaper option of hitman to grabs me from their. Thanks much love. This is a big question. Not just the hitman to the back levels legacy stuff but is hit. Hit me in three a great jumping off point if you've never played before right. This is what you were talking about with club. We and we and we see this every time a big new game series brings out a game right like like one of the most commonly asked questions i've heard in the last year is like where do you start with for example the yakuza games. Many of the right should you. Can you start with like a dragon. You wanna stop zero. Always different ways to get into it. And so i'd every game is different right and every every series is different understand. Why the questions coming from right especially. Since i saw recently that i owe think tweeted something about it. Meant three being the the concluding chapter in a hitman. Trilogy edgy when i when i hear that that makes me a bit nervous like you wouldn't for example to just jump into light. Return of the jet is the first hours from the emerson right. Still be a great movie but a lot of stuff wouldn't make sense and you'd be a bit lost because you know it's picking up story threads been percolating through the previous two films. You would be like who's this guy share. What's going on. And on. I wanna you don't wanna have that feeling but i feel like these days especially we've really games when like years between games. It's it kind of behooves game developers to make sure each new game can function both as the continuation of what's come before legacy players but can also be on boarding can be an entry point for people like you as a game developer or published. You really know helping self if you say oh yeah. This is really only accessible to people who have already played hitman. Because you never gonna grow your your fan vice that what you've got to You you've you've got to have each game be an accessory. An accessible new entry point. And i was very glad to see. Patrick clinic. Asked the same questions anything's into similar position to me intrigued to try. The new one has spent a of time with hitman before. Certainly no up unlike the balaji in the lower. What's happening with like agent. Forty seven's store. I couldn't tell you a single fucking thing about agent forty seven and now he's a ball dude with a barcode on his on the back now and that's nice people is the. Is there much mortar. No probably any of it. But i was very glad to see this morning that apparently a lot of people had replied to patrick and the consensus. Yet you can just jump into say hitman three and whatever problems with like not knowing what's going on so that's what i'm gonna do. I also do have. The hitman wanted to legacy editions. That came whatever deluxe super duper pack. The i got so. I might try those as well but i'm just going to jump into three because that's going to be the one that is most optimized for next gen and like you know it's gonna it's gonna it's gonna have the most valuable learnings from one and two right and i think it's you and me. Gary have a very similar hitman story. Where i remember getting that i hitman. Ips two and bringing it home in popping it. It'd be like oh. This isn't what i thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be more like a metal gear at the time and so i fell off and so every man. That's come but let's talk specifically about this trilogy hitman one and two i pop on. I usually play the first map in the first couple mission. Maybe i into a couple of maybe one more. And i'm like i get it. I see what this game's doing it's not for me like something about it doesn't click and i'm right there with you of like. I know that there is a game there that i could get into but i've struggled to do it and so hit me three. I m coming in very much. And i've played on part of the review on. Ps i love you so far. I'm three missions into the six maps or whatever so there you go it. Was this idea that i'm playing it. I like it. But i don't and i don't and it's the hold up for me is in the over the you know. There's the individual individual maps with your targets and their intricate plots. And what to do. They're right over over. That is layered this the end of the trilogy story. That's happening right. And i think even for me starting at never having beaten hitman one or two but starting those games they do a great job of like. Here's what's happened in the previous games here. Who's these other two players. You're with our this is what's going on. Go for it.

Chicago Residents Could Take Another Year and a Half to Vaccinate at Current Rate, Lightfoot Says

"As the covid nineteen pandemic continues to overwhelm communities across the united states the latest forecast from the cdc predict a dire situation in the weeks ahead the nationwide death toll hovers at about four hundred thousand a grim milestone. That's close to surpassing the number of americans that died during all of world war two. The vaccine roll out that began at the end of last year. Were supposed to offer relief. But so far vaccine distribution has seen major delays in most parts of the country. And that's something. The biden harris administration says they plan to address. Here's president elect joe biden last week. We're gonna make sure state and local officials know how much supply they'll be getting and when they can expect to get it so they can plan right now. We're hearing that. They can't plan because they don't know how much supply vaccines they can expect and what timeframe that stops were office. We've been checking in with local leaders. Nationwide about all this and today we go to chicago. Where vaccine eligibility has been expanded beyond healthcare workers in long term care residents to anyone over sixty five who lives or works in the city but at the moment chicago's roll out has been so slow that the city's mayor lori lightfoot says it will take a year and a half to vaccinate the entire city unless the process is dramatically sped up to get a better sense of what's causing chicago's delays and how the city is planning to improve its vaccination process going forward. I got mayor lightfoot on the line this is just a a a very basic issue of supply. We do not have enough vaccine from the federal government. We are dependent upon them not surprisingly to get the vaccine. In every week that we've been up and had our infrastructure clicking into gear we've got less first doses instead of more fo- sauces. That is fundamentally a problem. I've been very outspoken. About this issue. I will continue to be as the change of administration comes into into play. But we simply don't have enough. I does vaccines and it's holding us back and our ability to get vaccines out to those people who are ready willing Enabling enthusiastic about vaccine. We've been talking to mayors across the country Mayor lightfoot about what they need from a state and or federal officials is there something specific. You said you need more vaccine. Are there any other things that you need For the city of chicago from the state or the federal government to move this process along more smoothly. No we're we're fortunate enough to Get direct supply From the federal government. The one thing i will say about the state is we've identified for them that because healthcare workers in chicago also live elsewhere. We've also been giving vaccine to a fair number of suburban residents which is fine but that means we need to have backstop from the state in the county and i think we will get there but fundamentally in addition to getting more first dose vaccines we also need additional resources of from the federal government to make sure that the infrastructure that we put in place has the resources it needs to be successful. We need more digital resources for staffing. And as we expand into a more fixed sites across the city looking at mobile sites we just need more resources from the federal government they had not allocated enough even with the stimulus. Bill that passed at the end of december more needs to be done and i think the incoming biden administration recognizes that necessity mayor lightfoot. You mentioned vaccine skepticism. As being another hurdle that the city is facing in terms of getting people vaccinated and we know that particularly for black and latino populations that history of racism within the medical community has also spurred concerns. Is there anything. The city is doing or do to combat that skepticism in those communities particularly. Yeah we'll look skepticism. Unfortunately is widespread across the country. But what we started to do before we even got the first dose which a really lean into our trusted community stakeholders up in the black and latinx his community that we formed partnerships with this entire past year a since the pandemic came to chicago. We got a great network of partners at the local level through. F q eight. Abc's but also other stakeholders but primarily what we're looking to is black and let necks healthcare workers. Doctors nurses pharmacists. Those folks are really going to be. I think the critical ambassadors as we continue to go hyper local into these communities if they if people see people who look like them speak their language getting the vaccine and explaining why it's important that's gonna make a substantial difference and so we're leaning into those networks. Those trusted community

Overcoming Sin Through the Power of God (Genesis 20:6)

"Genesis. Chapter twenty verse. Six then god said to him in the dream yes. I know that you have done this. And the integrity of your heart and it was i who kept you from sinning against me therefore i did not let you touch her. There's a ton wicked talk about in this chapter when abraham journeys into the territory of a Lack the king of dharar. He takes sarah. And there's a lot that goes on here. That abraham does that obama does the whole point in this verse. That i just read it when i want to draw attention to as we pray is god's saying to Malek i know you've done this integrity of your heart in other words. Not defiled abraham's wife and it was. I god says who kept you from sending against me and the picture here as chapter twenty verse. Six is what we see all over the bible. The only way you and i can resist. Sin and overcome. Temptation is by the power of god. This is why jesus teaches us to pray lead us not into station but deliver us from evil because he knows that laugh to ourselves we will wander left to ourselves. We will send left to ourselves. We will turn from. God's good ways to own evil and wicked ways and yvonne wicked is the right word anything apart. From god's good ways is evil and wicked and this is what we are all prone to do in our sinfulness which is why we need god's mercy not just at one point in our life when when we put our faith in jesus and we ask him to forgive us of our sins we enter into relationship with him through faith. But it's not just that moment when we needed mercy we need his mercy at every single moment in the beauty is god promises to give us numeracy every single morning every single day all day long every moment and so this is the christian life a life of moment by moment dependence on the merc- and power grace strength love and help of god. Who said that one more time. This is the christian life. Moment by moment dependence on the mercy and grace and strength and power and help of god and the beauty is he has put a spirit inside of us to give us all those things and every moment as we look to him lean on him and trust in him not just at that point previously in our lives but as we trust in him moment by moment all throughout the day. So god we look to you. Now we lean upon you now and all day long today as rely our heads on our pillows at night as we wake up the next morning. We need your new mercy every morning. We need your numeracy every moment. God we confess right now that none of us can stand against sin and temptation on our own. None of us can experience the good life the abundant life that you have created us to live designed us to live called us to live we are aw prone to turn from your ways to our own ways so god we pray for your help right now and repre- that you would help us to be cognizant of our need for your help and your mercy and your power at every moment all day long today tonight tomorrow all that we do we say based on your word and john fifteen five jesus weekend do nothing without you it is you who keep us from sending it is you who keep us in us so we pray keep us close in every way we need you and every moment we trust in the help and the mercy and the power and the grace in love and the strength all these things that you promised to provide for us through the presence of your spirit in us.

"I wanted to highlight evan. I'd be curious just a little bit of a highlight of what you're working on Yeah so i have my normal job but I've always kept my skills up to date by working on little side projects. You solve a problem that you were having and just major life easier. And then it's like i bet others could use this and then you just throw it out there and people enjoy it. "Without let's get on with the show you and as is the last show of the year we thought we would have a bit of a retrospective on all of the good news. That happened in twenty twenty. So let's begin back in episode one on the twenty fourth of march martin. What good news did you find. I was delighted by alan running the Boon to will pay her weld cup and hardy. Heroin being voted as the all time favorite of boon to desktop wallpaper. Who would possibly have seen that result coming out windows but what transpired is I did a bit of archaeology. And we dug up the original artwork for the and we were able to reproduce a full cave version which was included in the focal. Lts released later in the year. Nice brilliant and speaking of that lts release. We had more news in april. Yes indeed april was of course the release of the focal phosa lts release. And you know. I think for allen as much as for me you know. This is a a landmark for us. The lts's a very important but you know personally. This was my first time round being you know Engineering director for desktops. Oh it will it. Was you know real milestone for me personally and professionally and this is now the destroy. That's going to be out there for the next five years running on an array of laptops and workstations allen. Yeah following on from that. There was a nice community laid up until testing week that we talked about back in episode three. I think this year and the thing i loved about that was it was community oriented. They didn't have to ask permission. They didn't have to you. Know get canonical approval to do this. It was just a bunch of people who decided. Let's get together and get some testing of four before it's released organized it for all of the flavors and it really helps a lot more. "The film Don't Think Twice written and directed by comedian. Mike Birbiglia is about a New York improv troupe trying to navigate the unexpected on and off stage. And there's this great scene in the film where one of the characters is talking about the magic of improv. She says they'll close once said watching great improv is like watching people put the plane together when they're already in the sky. I love that visual because it's ridiculous and yet that's exactly what it feels like on last week's episode. We went back to that old improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway the one where Drew Carey opens each episode reminding the contestants that everything's made up and the points don't matter and I compared that to our lives because most of us carry ourselves like we're performing Shakespeare's For critics when in reality, we're all just making it up as we go and that's a good thing because the rules and Norms scripted for us by society that are all made up and there's freedom and going off book but there are actually rules in improv and one of them stands out Above the Rest of em want to spark creativity and connect with others and figure out how to put this plane together while we're flailing in mid-air. We have to.

This time around Really just seems very abrupt. Maybe it was because of of the brand split in the move to Fox But that storylines seem to Kinda come to an abrupt ending and really. It really didn't have a payoff to it You know correct me if I'm wrong. No Joe and and very good call when it comes to Daniel Bryan. It does feel Kinda rush. I guess in the world that the WWE wwe bully. We kind of got used to storylines really not seeing that ultimate climax and moving on how it wasn't that long ago we were booing Daniel Bryan against Kofi Kingston at Wrestlemainia. And then. Yeah the story with Roman reigns and it felt like. Hey we're getting a little bit of a turn for Daniel Bryan but there wasn't that quote quote unquote defining moment. It just felt like it was the right thing to do the change Daniel Bryan and probably this is the biggest thing thing. Probably Dan you. Brian is the one guy you can put into the ring with the fien. Bray Wyatt. Where the FEM- Bray? Wyatt is getting cheered over. Whoever ever? He's in the ring with disaster when it was three wide. And Seth Rollins Seth rollins was getting booed and the Fien Bray. Wyatt was getting cheered. It's it's a different story with Daniel Bryan and I think Daniel Bryan is one of the few wrestlers you can do that with. Because the fiend might be able to get some heat on Daniel Bryan and people are behind Daniel Bryan remember. Add wrestlemainia thirty. This guy had some of the biggest emotional attachment to him as anybody in the wwe has ever had it was the WWe universe in that. Yes movement that got Daniel Bryan over the top the WWe universe Daniel Bryan fan base forced the a hand of creative so people do have that that attachment to Daniel and if we can see the fiend do some heinous stuff to him. I thought thought it was going to be more of a sporting competitive. Feel which it really hasn't been and I actually thought it would be an all around better show. I think the best show that they've had was the the one where the roster was suck in Saudi and the annex t roster had to had to performance. I think by far by far. You're that has been the best show that they have had. Since they made the move the Fox I would probably say that that was the best show and probably the second best show would be the first show that they had when they made the move the Fox and I'll actually even go a step further. We had questions about whether Fox to deliver on their side as far as like promoting and talking about and I think they've had I think Fox has done a much better job uh of promoting smackdown on Fox then the wwe. Giving the attention to that show on Friday nights. I got I gotta ought to be honest. I think I've been a little underwhelmed by smackdown Fox to the point where right now if I had to rate the three big shows I would put an annex t on USA at one raw two and smackdown on Fox at three. I could deal with that and I think raw and smackdown down can flip flop on any given week. I think exceeds the definitive number one if you're a wwe fan annex t is by far the most exciting product. And I'm not talking to bust your balls about your C.. Plus like I said it's just good. Here's something out of left field that did not make sense to me. And I don't remember where I saw. It might have been. It might've been the cowboy game on Thanksgiving Day. Did you see the shot of Braun strowman on the sidelines with the Universal Championship over his shoulder. Yes he they. After after the Thanksgiving game the after the lions game early game on Thanksgiving he presented the winner with a wwe championship title. Okay so he presented somebody with the championship. Okay fine I thought they had a shot of him watching the game holding the championship. And I'm like what the Hell is this. He's never been at a wwe champion before. But I get it now. He was presenting the championship. That clears everything. And that's what and that's what I mean like Fox delivering Fox even and over delivering. They have done a phenomenal job. And and listen maybe we we complained about. Maybe a lot of commentators weren't educated enough but they definitely have talked a lot about smackdown on Fox. I see commercials all the time for smackdown on Fox and then Hell Braun. Strowman being being in that position on Thanksgiving that game is you know as watched by millions of people millions of people watch that game and they see Braun strowman again like huge sky muscle guy man. That's going to bring a lot of attention to the WWE and to me with the exception of the different staging in the laser lights. I mean as soon as smackdown and improved product over what we saw when it was on. USA I would say no and again I would. I would actually say that I thought smackdown was a better show before it moved to Fox. I thought they would give a lot more attention to that show. I actually thought it was going to be there. Eight this show they would put they would fire all their bullets on a Friday. Night doesn't seem to be that way. Brock is now moved over to raw. Becky Lynch's on RAW. It seems to me that Roy is still that eight show over smackdown on Fox. Do you feel the way you feel about smackdown because of the actual to our show or have raw and smackdown become a chore to watch because of an X T. W There's some truth to that you. By far I think think annex t is the best wwe product for sure I think Let's look at the landscape as a whole you know. I kind of lump in their move to Fox with. NFC's move to USA annexed moved to USA is obviously for our is wrestling fan. Didn't successful one. There is not up in a bad show as a matter of fact it's been very good to great since annex t has moved to USA. I think it's pin exceptional can't say the same thing about smackdown on Fox. I think the first show was very good and I think the annex t roster on smackdown McDowell is great other than that. I think the shows have been averaged so yes obviously. You're going to go back to Wednesday and say man annexed has given us a great great show every single week and smack downs average and now over the last couple of weeks. We've seen very good shows on Monday night from from raw to take that into effect as well. When I'm watching smackdown I don't feel like I'm watching an episodic television show sometimes times I feel like I'm watching an infomercial? I don't know if that makes sense. Anybody know it makes me feel so they're catering into an entirely new fan base there catering to everybody out there in the United States that has never seen them before huge crossover With obviously with the NFL. I agree with you the. NFL is bringing a lot to the table for them. But ratings wise with the amount of viewers are doing every week. I it's not not like they're knocking them dead. I'm sure I'm sure in Fox's is they're doing good they got. They got a two point three this last Friday which which is basically to say they were over our. That's an overnight rating. You gotta give them the you gotta give them the leniency of the plus three number three number because a lot of people. DVR On Friday nights so whenever you see that plus three number that number is the one. That is the more fair and honest. Assessment to me. I don't I don't think I don't think relying on that two point three because if the wwe is getting two point. Three million viewers on Fox every Friday. I don't look at that is a tremendous victory at all. I don't even know if I could use the word. Victory to describe it now. I I don't know the dollars incentive it but when you think about how many people live in the United States and how many fans of the wwe there are telling me only two point. Three million people are watching shing on Friday night. It's not that's not very much people it is. It is still leading the night in that. Eighteen to thirty five demographic which is a big demographic. Fox's oxes winning Friday night with smackdown with that in very important eighteen to thirty five demographic it's getting the job done yeah and I think that's probably probably the way it's getting the job done here and I know you couldn't do it because of name recognition name value but I actually think annex t t would be a better fit for Fox than smackdown would be. Here's why where's all this promotion coming from for smackdown. It's coming from their sport the Fox sports platform on NFL on College Games on Saturday. So it's really they're really try. Fox is really going after her to sports fan when it comes to the wwe. When I look at smackdown man you talk about sports entertainment? That's the definition of sports entertainment. But when you look at the on Wednesday nights I think that would be a lot easier for the sports fan. The swallow then smackdown. That's just is my Morgan. Yeah it's more competitive matches and the the competitive this of the wrestling matches is what would give it. That more of a sports feel will so I agree with that assessment but again when it comes to the name Rick Recognition and the name value. Not even not even close. It's just doesn't work and and I'm very there's A. There's a reason why that the WWe is tweeting. That Roman reigns is kicking off. smackdown Roman reigns the heaviest hitter that they have their him along with Becky Aletsch so when it comes to name value yet Roman is the guy you're gonna tune in to see you know. People are going to tune in for star power over a great match. Yeah they'll be more interested in a great match than the Star Power. The thing is Roman can give you a great mattress mattress just about anybody. He works with Roman has quietly been getting the job done very very well. Since he's come back from his battle with leukemia I agree and and he's a perfect fit for that show but I'm very surprised that they decided to go with Bray. Wyatt the fiend on smackdown and move brock listeners this championship over to raw. 'cause to me brock listener. It'd be a much better fit to that sports fan that have that knowledge of who he is on that show. Oh as opposed to the entertainment value of Bray wide in the fiend. Working Friday nights might not have been convenient for brock schedule. You gotta not a factor that into it. I don't know that for a fact I'm just throwing that out there. Maybe I'm sure I'm sure. Brock is brock throughout his career. Monday day-night is a work night for brock. So I fly out on Sunday. I work on Monday in shooters. The show is over on Monday. I'm back home with my family. Friday nights nights is now a completely different story. Now you're interrupting family time on Thursday with Brock's family all a Friday cutting into his family time on on Saturday now now. I know what people are saying right now. Well what makes brock listener so special because he's Broccoli. Yeah the story and you don't know that to be a fact but it. It sounds like a good reason. One person we know who is a part of smackdown on Friday and is very popular is Daniel Bryan and Joe in Pittsburgh wants to talk about about Daniel Bryan. Where did you go joe? Okay First of all we have gray white felt I spend whatever I what I want. I want I support my family wholeheartedly. I have a great career in a couple of businesses. My wife would probably look at me like I was off the wall and Dan. I can assure you though for a majority of the basement blowing fans out there. They would probably want to take that seven grand and upgrade the blow up doll instead he. Yeah I can tell you straight on. Wow a lot of fans are gonNA. Hey Yeah we well we because that is going to have to come with lady parts a lot out of those fans After they buy that their wives are not going to give them anything. So you know at the end of the day. I think it's a cool belt but I probably still wouldn't buy.

"End offering meant for expansion and outreach December seventh and eighth our family damn around the world less welcome them? All of our campuses are nineteen locations. But I told Pastor Mickey that I would work with the youth and then he gave me he said well. Since you'RE GONNA be here working with the youth we also need him leader a song leader and I grew up the Methodist Church. Just down the street actually the Baptist Church in the Methodist Church were right across the street from each other and so it was a contest to see who could get out what I to go to the restaurant that was kind of the goal to beat the Baptist Berkeley restaurant in monks corner but he said will you lead the songs too and again. Not that. I'm a good singer. I was just available. You see a theme here so since he already he kind kind of a little bit of Bayton switch. Will you work with the youth where you lead the songs. Well the thing was the hymns that they had it the Baptist church a little different than the Methodist Church in the Baptist Church urge they would sing these courses and I had to learn all of those courses because I didn't know them. I knew all the Green Day and Nirvana and Hootie and the blowfish courses and I was always in a conversion process from Methodist Baptist from flesh spirit and all at the same time so anyway it was intimidating because because pastor Mickey would always stand in the back of the room while I was leading the choruses before he would come preach and if he didn't like the way I was leading them he would walk in and stop me and take over so I felt like I was additioning. All the time and one thing he really couldn't stand is if you're leading to slow so if he thought it was dragging he would just come from the back of the big guy to a six foot. Let's make him real tall six foot ten. You're never going to meet him but he was a big guy wrote to me and he had the shocking white here and so he would he would come up and he would start clapping at the temple that he wanted the song. I'm GonNa start trying that just walk. Start Clapping you'll probably take me to the to the mental institution if I did but he would start clapping and it was a small church so it would just dominate the whole room and I was leading this one time called. Yes Lord yes don't even know this chorus is of course it's not a ham and says yes Lord yes into your into your way Yes lord yes. You've got a picture me I'm like sixteen. I got this triple X.. Six L. "Yes Canadian jt one but he also kinda lost his party the Liberals don't have enough seats in parliament to pass legislation on their own so they're going to form coalitions it's undenied probably a setback for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when he was elected for years ago the wind of optimism and hope and change was at his back he was a bit of a celebrity even the United States I mean he scored photo shoots in places like vogue he really represented what Canadians wanted the rest of the world to think about them like he was Yang dynamic caught charismatic leader who was progressive and feminist and that was really the image that I think a lot of Canadians were happy to present themselves for years later well he wasn't that anymore I mean he was that in twenty fifteen but in this election he was the incumbent and whole liberal order seems be under threat by this rise of populism and anti-immigration sentiment and just lack of faith in a lot of the values that have created stability over the last hundred years it seems to me that so many other countries in the rest of the world candidate is entering the end of this golden age and the fall of Trudeau reflects that kind of twilight era Jen Gerson co-hosts Canadian politics podcasts called Otto before we got into the actual election season asked her how Trudeau lost his she. in Canada turns out it's SORTA starts and ends with the prime minister's fondness for playing dress up history rhymes on this stuff in twenty eighteen he makes this week long trip to India and he shows up in India with these outfits that are cost timberlake they are so elaborate and so over the top that they look like something that you would wear if you were going to or even participating in an Indian wedding not just like showing up for a week long trip to do trade deals like it was the image of Trudeau looking over the top and being a little too enthusiastic about costumes where I think sir some of the skepticism about Trudeau's began to eat its way into the national consciousness and that would of course shadow another scandal but before we get to that one did it ever he had a genuine corruption scandal to write not long after that yes and how do I explain the essences scandal to an American audience in ten seconds or less it's about Christ I'm going to try I'm going to do my best right we'll give you we'll give you sixty okay came at the end of last year one of the stars of Gesture Joe's Cabinet Jodie Wilson Revolt was shuffled from the hyper profile Attorney General post to veteran's affairs and everybody's like well that's Kinda odd well it emerged that of Judy will spray bold had really walk back against the Prime Minister's office when the Prime Minister's office tried to get her to issue it was called the deferred prosecution agreement for a company called Essence Lavaman which is a Quebec based engineering firm that has been accused of corruption lydia this was really the beginning of the end for justice does reputation as a progressive warrior because Jodi Wilson old had I think the most senior post of any indigenous woman in Canadian history and shuffle her out because she essentially stood up to the prime minister's office said no I'm not going to cut a sweetheart deal for a quote Unquote Corrupt Quebec construction firm or engineering firm was a pretty damning statement on Trudeau and his party it just demonstrated that his progressive virtue news were entirely superficial and that came before the browns as black facing even happened right Oh yeah way before it Time magazine Got Ahold of this picture of Justin Trudeau with Brown makeup dressed up in Aladdin he apparently had done brown face for fundraiser for the school that he formerly worked at and then after he got confronted with that he was forced to admit that he'd kind of lost track of the number of times that he had done black face so relatable same some video even came out of him not only in black face where he'd done up his hair and had a giant Afro Wig from I think this is in the nineties but like he'd actually painted his knees and hands and things like that like what and then he was asked about that on the campaign trail he had this amazing unquote effective. I've always been more enthusiastic about costume than is somehow is sometimes appropriate for me it was such an encapsulation of the man's flaws not that he was a racist but that he's a bit of a Frat boy this is the guy who so privileged in so completely live from real life that there was no part of him that stopped the moment before his hand hit his face with a giant brown makeup brush This is actually so glad you said that because I think that gives us an opportunity to play my favorite clip out of flight of stairs and he just leaps down a flight of stairs at rolls down totally eat it at the end he looks back at the reporter and he's like look at me I can fall downstairs supposed to pull this is a guy who's an actor and to me he's former drama teacher who's playing the role of prime minister and doing a pretty creditable job at it but there's something fundamentally inauthentic about it and that is what I think the black face scandal just got to a what so that that scandal came sort of towards the beginning of your election campaign season which is like enviable order than the US is season yeah I mean if you wanted to turn this into a conversation about why America system is is bad I'm here for you so how long it actually thirty days period kind of spans anywhere from thirty six to fifty days I think we had fifty days just between two of our debate this were there any memorable moments in the short campaign that y'all had no it's been terrible it's just been a really not just nasty campaign in the sense that there was a lot of allegations of racism and the Conservatives are antiabortion and then there was like the crazy whisper campaign that suggested that Justin Trudeau was like had an affair with a student back when he was teacher I mean it was all bullshit complete and utter nonsense but it's also been just an extremely shallow campaign like there hasn't been a Asian there really hasn't been a narrative there hasn't been anything to get behind so in a campaign that was sort of boring and shallow what'd Trudeau have going for them little might take away from this election was that really nobody was trying to persuade anybody else anymore and that really what this campaign was all about was just getting respective supporters to the polls so the liberals come out and say the Conservatives are going to take away your right to choose and they're you know cozying up with racists thankfully Canadians aren't buying it because conservative stand in the way of good policies that help people then they can pain on fear and empty promises They're not trying to win over conservatives with that they're just trying to scare their people to vote into voting and vice versa with the with the conservatives I mean when they're going after Trudeau and they're saying like Trudeau's GonNa make your life unaffordable he's going to raise taxes Mr Trudeau you're a phony in your fraud and do not deserve to govern this country vote him out vote 'em outs vote them out they're just trying to ensure that their people are motivated to come out to the polls it's funny though because that's the United States election when you were talking that smack about our election system over here yeah we're starting to take on some of your traits and let me tell you it's not great we kind of like being a little more polite than you I mean we're a bit smug about it infects how did Justin Trudeau managed to lose his majority government when he had a strong economy and not the stiffest competition in the world because he won in two thousand fifteen by bringing a whole bunch of new people to the polls and in the wake of these scandals which Really put a dent in his reputation as a positive ethical reformer of Canadian government how do you inspire those people to come out for you a second time..

"So anyways as you will see what the next week brings and whether or not by the time we talk next week we are looking at eight thirteen match card for wrestlemania yeah which you know what i i love it i love it you know who was super i'll tell you a super over at the house show nyah jacks at the garden at the guard yup ny is surprising nyah got a big baby face pop that's surprising because i feel like she's been the bad guy mostly well not really recently actually happening today in dallas in dallas that crowd did not share alexa bliss they booed how could you if you listen to that big that she's been saying in the story live but i i like i guess not as baby face tired is still so fresh that i could conceive a world where her music hits and you still boo yeah i think it's there i think men i give credit to both of them i mean number one lexi is a really great he'll but number two man i think the pop that nyas getting is an old fashioned earned it from the matches with oscar that's what i really think it is i that straight up old fashioned like damn she's working so hard and she's still didn't win that's that's sort of where i think she's really getting it from well yeah and that matt dot last match with oscar where the ending sequence like i said it before and i'll say it again it was police say it again it was perfect like that ending sequence was perfect that's that's the type of sequence that you've finished on that you know when people say oh certainly matched makes both competitors look strong and like i could even see how when they're trying to sell her on it like okay yes so she has your arm and you try everything the shake her off your arm and you can't and this goes on for a few minutes and then you finally just give up or even like somebody in the crowd watching that just like she still has her arm like there's so much room for it to go wrong.

"Would you have been there's a world in which john cena and daniel bryan would have been don't there's a world i mean not all than he's matches on the table now yeah i mean nakimora aj's already done so everyone wants to see that and that's all good and that takes out to to people you really want to see him with but you know him verse shane even though from a wrestling standpoint and had been everyone's favorite i did a story that that has been told between them it's been interesting there's there's so many things you can do with him and then so many noon even him versus cart efi like is on the table oh yeah why not i mean listen yeah we still i mean let's keep a real him verse brock is back on the table all of this is back on the table bass specially after that beat down man so happy he's back so happy to hear from all you guys so many tweets that ano everyone's so excited just a great dude to i mean literally exactly i mean he's literally one hundred he's a real life superhero he that is who he is i mean he is the person you think he is all the time all the time and obviously i'm excited man since i've been around he hasn't been a wrestler he's just been this in this role and and frankly he's always seemed kind of bummed out you know he never seems particularly happy to be around he seems usually bummed out to be away from his family if they're not around so you know i'm just beyond excited for them and as if that wasn't good enough.

"Right we wanna talk about daniel bryan where could where daniel bryan end up when it's all said and done on the on the all time greats list listen he listened he already had the type of career that you know if somebody put him in the top ten i wouldn't side i like i would respect that even the short amount that he had because like he gave us those moments he was a world champion he he had the great matches he had everything that you know he checked all the boxes and fit criteria that people would have to put them toward the top and then like that was when i thought his crew was done so if you can string up some more matches like imagine like daniel bryan fin ballot daniel bryan aj styles daniel bryan nakimora sammy's zane kevin owens or some of these people from annex t come up and they have to run into daniel bryan on dry day cnn almaz adam cole alyssa black like all of these in play now and not just on like wwe to k t on like these matches that we can actually get and these can only bolster his career which was already already impressive oh man it's there's a lot man there's there's a lot to do i thought i thought even just for this mania alone right even just for this i'm fine with them going this direction totally cool you know i'm good with it it's all good i would have been cool because think about it they obviously knew the timing's a little perfect they obviously knew probably i'm imagining i haven't spoken to him i don't know but i'm imagining they've known over the last few weeks that leaves that this was happening so there's a lot you could have done you know there's.

"They go on the unsanctioned route for annex teeth i don't know if they're going to do that on back to back nights but like you said a stipulation is perfectly suited for this few they certainly earned it why and what's in what shane oh mac and do it a paper of you if he's not jumping off a cell so right it'll be interesting to see what they do i'm also interested to see whether we kind of get back to the daniel bryan shane mcmahon feud which had clearly been underway yeah i don't know though i don't know because i feel like the daniel bryan's shame mcmahon feud and like the tension between them had all been around this idea that he he protected kevin owens and semi's ain't and like took their side and gave them a lot of opportunities so almost feel like is sort of silly for them to go back to that after they come together to to take on kevin owns a semi saying you know i just wonder where they were then growing though because it's so felt like they were clearly going there that's the one thing that find interesting north zan yeah i feel like this is the better pay off though honestly don't get me wrong i'm i'm totally pleased with that now as you we're gonna take a quick break not an actual break but we're going to take a momentary conversation change to tell you that it is official.

"Yeah they did not notice like way the way he did it was felt like they looked wilder but they will also a little bit more smooth because he landed on his his right hand and was able to spin out of the drop kick and just run back into the other corner and like it looked really really crisp and i it looked honestly looks safer because you know he he lands on his hand and spins out if these land on his hand he doesn't have to land on his head right right and it'll be interesting to watch as time goes on and see how many things he does do differently because obviously even though he's cleared you know they want to they have to avoid concussions i mean he told the story in the interview last time i talked to him about you know after a concussion you know seizing and really you know so he's had obviously even though he's cleared it doesn't eliminate the fact that he's had these scary concussion moments so you know i was curious i just asked him this you know whether or not part of me wanted the shane mcmahon saved to happen tonight just so we have you know it's only two weeks left and only because here's the reason i was in favor of him getting the save tonight and i understand why you'd argue against it the reason i was in favor of it is almost everything about like the wrestlemainia match setups and tonight we'll we'll get into the card again and breakdown where we stand but like so much has been contrived so far you know even this match is pretty contrived it just happens to have this awesome surprise that while you could have fantasized about it just didn't seem likely but the setup for it greg as still been contrived to me so by not having him make the save which is still contrived you still that you then have to have this like you know it's going to happen in the form of a promo.
