"Learned their dialogue. And william harlow. Waylon go for it. The only drawback to that is that the biggest. Gimmick of the story is the extant conceit. The doctor gradually speech krejci getting in sync with the villain the possessed character and expecting william how to to get that syllable. Perfect is a bit of a tall order so this is not moving to one other specific areas coming up with absolute dream team so i would have dougie. Campbell directs it. I'm just because i though he's often what we think was best was. He's big gimmick in the early years of making big expensive space operas look more expensive than say rich mountain dew but on the other hand lifted the rate of graham hopper. You know wasn't grim harbor but at least a wing graham harper. Was you know somebody who is famous for action. And then when he got the chance to do smaller scale stories later on. Show that you just as good with axes and an mood and atmosphere. So yeah i'd give with the chance to show the string to his bow. I would interesting to me i would. I would keep david trout in the same the same party. Even though he's owning twinsies at this point and i would transplant as the doctor. Any other doctor who could pull it off another fast-talking docs who's very precise without get paid davison. And i think it would show the world these much better accidental thinki- is because they just wandered on with his floppy hair and played himself. And i think it would show. Yeah his daughter. Never really go to chance to do any staff or any over possession and stuff ready. So i think that would have done him some good. So that's is a big enough team twenty to change anyone else. I i have to say paul that you've you've saved the best tool last their own particularly liked the idea of recording in line growth. I think that was a suitable to end. How many hundreds of years have we risk. We peaked close to five or six. I think at one point four to five or but in fairness to the mall. Yes trying to watch it on telly. Snaps with the audio keeping halting must've been pretty enervating. So look if you have been listening to us live and you've sold it on for more than an hour with that offer. Commiserations i think is the only thing we can say to you but but look thanks for that and we hope that we'll be able to construct from our own individual recordings at least in audio version the experience which is no less enervating least will be more complete and we. We've i'd like to say we've enjoyed doing. This certainly has been different. I if we're ever to try again after find different medium has actually expect you know. You'll have to to fourteen point. "On something here. Even though we haven't because i crow crow into something else in what did. I do like roebuck. Clawbacks into three dumpsters. they yeah. Resolution is an actual christmas specialists the last episode season. But it's hived often shown at christmas. Accept his new year. Three doctors is famously. The story that feels like it should be a special and isn't a special is just the first part of season. But if they'd just waited a few months everyone would have been filled if administered especially loved it moaned about the about the in sense. Three dollars gets away. it doesn't it. It gets away with it because it's got the the unit family and the regulars are always very well written by baker mountain and at what was going to say omegas the heart the realism america's plight for a story about where the not just the big plot twist for the emotional thrust of the story. Emotional crux of the story is because despair. Finding outfit he no longer exists because realized with with a man in a fancy dress. Take his hat off. Often there's no head there that could go either way. Couldn't it could be ludicrous. But i think he's done for a nicely and despite students phones best efforts over oversell the moment i think that's i think that's the point to hindus all around. It's quite clever science fiction idea. I i saw when i was ten and i feel on us. I wasn't expecting that and it's not always that often get doctor who is not really as a show. The often surprises you as many qualities. So yes i think. It's almost the model of what you'd want from a joyous anniversary special but as i said last time mr ellison dr tyler are not good enough guest characters to deserve the amount of time they should have been bigger juicier and larger. And i'm sorry. I always say that bulb and dave if you're out there listening but you yeah you get there eventually resolution. Yeah i remember enjoying that quite a lot more as a story. that's enjoy mostly a puffer. Fueled moments that. Take me out of it. The at some things surprised seeing something that you haven't seen before and that's not easy to do the daleks it. A kind of thought had enough of seen him outside their cases. I saw the mute. Because i realize what was important so reestablished the effect that they were one in new. Who's as why. We saw a lot of them outside their machines but some after dark sec when did not prove the success that it was obviously supposed to be kind of hoped would never forgotten that route again. But this one. Yeah and i think ever since kitty watching resurrection the daleks where the blown up i push when i have a bloody window explodes because everywhere and yet this the mutant survived that crawls back up the wall hides in them is in the shadows pretending to be a. Kansas jumps up people's throats. That's the first time i've had any idea they could that resilient and it gives a good a underappreciated points in that is full of full of sensation sometimes. Just the sake of sanitation. And then it's probably up there with that having clinging to her at fresh meats back and mentally controlling her is not something we've seen before but it fits in with andrea. These things are powerful. Don't try to have its cake and eat it. Sometimes we are told. They are nothing pitiful creatures outside their armor. And that's all that's all they are. They're nothing without their armor but which is the works psychological level in tons of doctor. Has i think been telling. Them may works in the boat..

"To our second. Something who live show. I'm richard and yes once again. We've taken our doctor who podcast and turned into a live show. So that's our fast audience. Solve one or two people can follow along as we record so the first time we did this. The oj was fine but the video is a bit jumpy and every march to make one of the recording sessions life by accident. And let's hope this is third time lucky. Let's see and we will post an audio only version on the usual podcast feed. But i guess watching live. We'll give you an opportunity to interact via the comments on youtube and we'll keep an eye as we go along so for christmas light show where I guess we've got two more spontaneous format but it does riff on our our usual remix comparing stories from the elder new series. We've given a little bit of a christmas spin here and there and Here to take part we've got what's becoming our regular lineup at least of late. So what Big finish writer and missing episodes. Podcast dr paul evening and we've also got a noted astrophysics author and our own. Dr science joyous. Hello so at the heart of this episode is the magic spreadsheet that select stories at random from the class. We can you doctor who series each of us will take turns to discuss a pair of stories picked at random and then attempts to find a spurious link between them and then the others get a chance to pass comment and possibly dropping the anecdotal own. So we're going to regular around. I think then at christmas round and potentially a dream team round at the end. But we'll explain that as we go along suppose all that remains to be seen is who are we gonna make i land. Is that superior randomized for that. As well spend the buffalo run these three what i learned a long time ago a childhood spent trying to avoid being picked the games or whatever by hiding behind any objects that cover me is that just increases the anxiety and the anticipation then. There's probably healthier to get it out of the way. Because otherwise i wouldn't get to enjoy if you've got third enjoyed youtube. "The moon base this really reason why. The production code for the Moonbase always flashes up for me is H H isn't it a bit wobbly on production codes, but the Moonbase Morris bearing home. I have a difficult relationship with the moon base. Really I'm delighted to have it have the two episodes that we have. But it marks a retreat into silly science and silliness that that some of season four especially represents. So we've come from the underwater Menace where there's some silly signs isn't there's a silly science demonstration about a little pots which explodes demonstrating what happens if you drain away the c or whatever it is and then the Moonbase they have this 21st 22nd century on the moon and the day is saved by a tray which somehow hermetically seals the Dome and saves everyone's life and the plots line with the Cybermen only randomly picking off people in the moon base by poisoning the sugar and therefore anyone who has sugar in the coughing. is vulnerable so watching it as a grown-up, which I allegedly am. I don't get on with the lazy storytelling and the dumbing-down for children because they shouldn't be dumbed down for children. It should be it should give children something to Aspire to understanding rather than going down to their level and we have the whole poly cocktail thing as well. And that was more of the same. However, it's Cybermen on the moon. Which is quite powerful. And you've got Trenton being city, which is lovely and that's the Moonbase Morris Barry conducting from his music stand. What was the other one Flatline? Flatline rigsy. Yeah I thought that was a really really really good premise for a story. I thought it was excellent. And I think dr. Like stories tend to be better by virtue of their being less vote this a big theme but being less less focused on what is going on in the Tardis with the Companions and I thought it was pretty good. I remember being.

"And thus watchable in televisual terms in herself. But in terms of knew who don't think they're any weaker less stimulating companions because all the others have been so much larger than life. I'm not give us your page to to Martha venting. She's fine. I find her a little bit cornball sometimes. Dr. I'm bringing you back to Earth. I found that a little bit corny, but I don't think I don't think there's anything wrong with having a not larger-than-life character wage in and not dwelling too much on the companions themselves because that allows the stories to breathe and it just so happens where we have the most muted character in Martha who is absolutely the fine, but it just so happens when we have the least concentration on the companion. In a season or a season Arc or a story, you know that we happen to have in my opinion. What is the best season of Doctor Who and for me that is something I'm Flexin on a lot especially at the moment with Seasons 11:00 and 12 where we have lots of noise and lots of foam what the companions are going through age. The the it's just a lot of screen time that is is is left to trying to somehow dip into the companions lives and draw parallels with what a young audience might be watching without conclusion like the dyspraxia and the depression and all of that and as a subsequent effect of that the stories themselves are truncated and less dramatic and the stories are sacrificed in order to try and put lights on the companions. So my point about Martha is it's absolutely fine job. She's perfectly fine. She's perfectly well played some of it's a little bit calm Ball but not having Rose and not having center of attention Donna and not having the focus being on the companion art allows for better storytelling and that is why I like Martha. Okay. Oh, yeah. I don't know. I liked her in-home. The Cybermen to parts were the Daleks Cybermen thing at the end of the previous season when she was playing the cousin or something and I just thought that she would choose choose a good good enough actress, but the didn't like the particular part that they took created for in this in and the whole kind of you know, unrequited love with the doctor said, I don't know whenever people ask me why I'm not a key term after they always asked they'll say, oh, is it the unrequited love thing with the doctor? Is it that because I I guess that is the thing that most people at least Kenalog That and I say no. No, it's not that good. That's why it's like the time Warrior and the unquiet dead. "I think they certainly it was certainly not the worst story in the key to Time season. Although actually, you know a season I seem to recall quite enjoy there was a season that I got fed up with with dog and it wasn't that one. It was following. What although I said that I did watch this. I did watch city of death and indeed the one of the dialects it home. So it was really the only there after that but for some reason my attention got pulled away wants to be admitted it down to him. You're going to you're going to hide out which stories he didn't see and that was basically it but never had any human human nature. So I never read the book after so I'm gonna have to say that so it's like I'm not going to be able to give you some some very finely argued. Reference if the two two different texts, so I only have only the saw the the TV version but I liked it well enough I thought I thought it's interesting idea that off the doctor becomes a human and and falls in love and and then eventually has to give all that up. It's a little bit. All in the ending the doctor becomes very vindictive and you know, he was he was trying to give him a chance. He said but now that now that they've overstepped the mark That's it. They've really hurt it off which seems I suppose it's some more in tune with the character of of tenants Doctrine in the the latest part part of the area, but it seems a little bit out of step in this life Series 3 to me. But yeah all in all first world war setting creepy scarecrows. So there's still a link but the link between the two is owned now when you ever seen both of them once and right and you're not allowed to you that link again and they're both adaptations of a book, I mean lanzerotti same page about anything to it. This is such a thing as a an anti link. I mean you point out that when the interesting things about human nature is the doctors complete lack of wage. Function with the balance I get a right good come up. And so the end of it. Where is it and retire Grendel famous doesn't die. Don't get locked up. He just jumps the battlements and off into the sunset suit box has moustache to another day. This was a fan of fish. Could it does seem to be some somewhat, you know in accordance with this which one was all all of his? Yes, Tara all of his plots end up with the body walking off into the Sunset Lounge except the ones that don't kind of forgotten that if you've discussed it in-depth on something here in 13 cast I probably wasn't on those episodes because I was always thought is always a way of washing my hair or something whenever you want to use call upon the disgusting. "The classic series one from the new and each of us are then take it in turns to discuss those stories picked at random and try and find a spurious link between them. And while we're doing that the others will get the opportunity to pass comment and possibly drop in the on odd anecdote of their own home just have an hour. We were a little bit less than that now, but we hope to get around about three or four times. So I hope that all makes sense and I guess without further ado. I see because naturally mostly taken the opportunity to be to join the general theme of the evening and be able to go first Richard. I'll give you one month that Goldman right Richard and you discourse for a number of minutes on the caves of androzani. Yes, and it's knew who counterpart Paramount at the end of the world. Well one of those one of those stories, I know rather better than the other I suppose that the the key thing about caves risoni was the first time around a missed episode 2 and I was absolutely frustrated about that. It was a Friday night and I happened to be watching Norman Wisdom. And you know, I'm wasting film on the Telly we watching as a family and I quite enjoyed it and then round about half-past seven when it occurred to me that I also been watching Doctor Who and that I missed it and not only had a missed it but Having recorded and that was it gone forever is a bit miffed. I mean deficit to perhaps not the key one, but nonetheless, you know, not not really one that you did want to miss either off. So for many years I had episodes one three and four, which I watched almost endlessly on on video without the event that benefit episode to I think I've probably still only watched it a couple of times so I can't tell you very much about that one. But the rest of them are really enjoyed I feel I guess a cracking story obviously Davidson's the last little bit of Baker at the end nice effort from Harper. Yeah. It's it's it's a cracking story which I recommend to anyone here at the end of the world I have to say is home of those stories. I've only seen once and the ones that I saw it. There's a pyramid right there's lots of the number of armies descending on it. And eventually it's left to chlorr no no to to a bill to make some kind of a choice on behalf of the world to stop something from happening as I recall. And yeah, I mean it goes right in the end. "Patrick Rowden the second doctor. Initially I was just going to talk about the faceless ones. An animated episode that was created using the soundtrack from the original nineteen sixties. Faceless ones episode. That episode is one of the missing episodes of doctor who the second doctor has the most missing episodes BBC in the sixties decided that most of its archives. Were probably not going to be interesting to people. So they would wipe episodes and reuse the tapes. Over the years they have been able to find some episodes that had been shipped to different studios recently. I think it was in the Middle East. They found a bunch of episodes and they're able to take the soundtracks that fans recorded for years and recent them up and use that in the episodes they clean them up they remix them a lot of these episodes. They haven't been able to find it all. And they've taken the time to animate and create whole episodes out of either parts of episodes or in the case of the faceless ones and the terror they animate the entire thing they also did for power of the DALEKS which is very important episode. That's the second doctor's first episode and I have been kind of enraptured watching these animated episodes they've also done a couple of episodes where they have only animated a few episodes that were missing like moon base which I also very much enjoyed. I haven't spent as much time with the second doctor as some of the other doctors mostly because he has a lot of missing episodes and there was kind of a carryover between episodes back. In the day you wouldn't necessarily cleanly end one story and then start another one the end of the faceless ones for instance. The hardest is missing Ben and polly to the doctor's companions at the time. Decide what this is. They're they're gonNA just go on their way and they leave the doctor. Jamie and the Doctor. Jamie go looking for the Tartus. So it continues directly on into the next episode evil of the dollar which is another missing episode fingers crossed that after fury of the deep evil of the daleks is the next episode that they animate. I really excited because there isn't an entire season of Patrick Troughton as the doctor but if they do evil of the Daleks I think that they would be able to put on a Nice Blu Ray box set containing an entire season of the second time. Patrick Troughton had a really rough job. His doctor who was a phenomenal success with William Hartnell in the title role as the doctor. Taking over from William Hartnell meant that Patrick. Troughton had to somehow take a character that people had gotten to in love and put a new spin on it and make it his own with the highest viewership figures of any show in Britain at the time. The show is getting famous from movies. Starring Peter Cushing. So that was like you know what we can do this. It doesn't have to be William Hartnell. Necessarily he's kind of thought of as the first doctor that has the regeneration power and it adds a mythos to the show and so he's bringing in a huge chunk of what's become classic doctor who mythos with him and watching him do that is very very cool and being able to watch power of the DALEKS his first episode cement after watching some William Hartnell stuff and they're very very different actors and what they bring to. The rule is so different. And you would think that maybe audiences would bulk but at the time. I think that Patrick Troughton was able to carry the show. Different Way Than William. Hartnell was his relationship with one of his stalwart companions. Jamie you can tell the really enjoyed working together. I think the audience could tell that they very much enjoyed working together and that I think really helped the show move forward now. Without Patrick Troughton there would not be doctor. Who now if that hadn't happened if they'd have just said you know what? We got some series. We're done bills not feeling. Well we gotta we gotta pack it up. Which could have happened. He could have very easily been just a hey. We had a good run packing it up but instead they they went on a limb and they tried Patrick Troughton and worked anomaly and going back to his episodes. Now and being able to view them with new eyes and have more of a continuity between episodes. It's really cool. I highly highly recommend checking out the animated episodes and more of Patrick Trout and stuff I've watched faceless ones Mac patera moon base and tomb of the Cyberman to government is one of the few intact episode and it is thought of as classic and I can see why I mean the obvious racism aside. I will not say that. These episodes are perfect but the obvious racism aside to move. The CYBERMAN is super cool. Episode. It's really fun to watch. The terror is also really cool and knowing that what happens to the macro in gridlock the tenth doctor episode. It's kind of cool to see a very different side of the macro in that. There's a lot of cyberman episodes with the second doctor. I'm right now watching the tele snap reconstruction of Wheelin space. Where one of my favorite doctor who companions Zoe is introduced so? I'm just really excited that they're doing this project. I'm really excited to rediscover the second doctor for myself. He has the most missing episodes. There's going to be a release of fury from the deep either late this year or early next year and I'm really excited about it. I was a little disappointed that the wheel in space was a tele snap reconstruction and not a full animation. I had been misled online. That there was a full animation of wheel in space that was exclusive to Brit box. That's not the case. It's a tele snap reconstruction so it's basically like listening to a radio play and having some pictures from the episode up which is pretty cool. I'm glad I get to experience. The episode and there is an abridged version of the first episode of wheel and space. That's been animated and I'll check that out. The second factor is is well worth your time to look at you can see elements borrowed by other actors playing the Doctor Matt Smith. I think you can see a lot of Smith's eleventh doctor in the second doctor and I think you can also see things that capote borrowed from the second doctor. I'm also watching Peter. Cappelli suffered looking for attributes that other actors brought to the role that I believe. Peter Cappelli purposely brought out. And I'm glad that I rediscovered the second doctor so that I can look for those attributes a little bit more again. It's not that I haven't watched everything the second actors in it's just that these episodes I've never seen before because they were lost. They weren't available so this is the first time I'm seeing some of them and it's really cool and it's really cool to have his era kind of restored I'll talk probably more about faceless ones or macro terror future episode but I just wanted to say how enraptured. Am with the second Doctor Right now. And how much fun? I'm having watching this stuff in rediscovering stuff because again he had probably the hardest job of any doctor isolation times. I've been reading some articles about covert time and how physical distancing has been causing people to feel really isolated. Some experts thought the term social distancing was not the correct term to use. The term should have been physical distancing because what we really need to do is stay physically distant from people not socially win traumatic events happen humans as a group tend to cluster together and comfort one another. But that's exactly what can't do in cove at times at least not physically. I've been reading more about how isolation can trigger people who feel anxious and epithets. I'm definitely more on. The epithet excited the anxious side. It's really interesting to see how many studies have been done about isolation people were saying that it can be as harmful as high blood pressure in some cases at just a lot of stress into our lives. And we can feel lot of loneliness especially when you don't have someone to share your life with. It's important right. Now that we go out of our way to comfort others to reach out to people to take comfort in our small circle of people that we have in our lives and take time for ourselves. We're not likely to live through something like this again. And it's important right now to reflect on who we want to be at this time and we WANNA help and who can help us so I just encourage you to give someone that phone. Call that. Maybe you haven't talked awhile. Try Zoom chat or even just send an email but reaching out is really important. Not just for yourself to try to ward off some of the things eighty and some of that apathy but also for the people that you're reaching out to one article said that just reaching out to someone and being able to say to yourself at least someone is thinking about me is a big deal so I would encourage everybody take some time to think about someone. You haven't reached out to a while. Just reach out to him in some way phone. Call email anything. You can't fill the notebook so in nineteen ninety-three they found a really cool deep space. Nine notebook with graph paper in it and as of Sunday may third. I filled that notebook with notes. About who positive and was fun to look back through it and see the notes that I have starting with episode one all the way to episode fifty one and it was just fun to read through it and see how my mission has changed a bit and to see how many episodes of watched and taking notes on to see how many of watched and take notes on that. I haven't gotten a chance to talk about yet. How many ideas that I've have also haven't gotten to do yet and it just reinvigorated me and just reminded me that. I have places that I want to take this podcast and I have People WanNA talk people. I want to find out more about and find out about the things they love and find out about what those things bring their life and so it was just really exciting. And I don't finish notebooks very much. I by many many many notebooks. The fact that this one is twenty seven years old and I just filled. It tells you about my propensity for not filling up notebooks. When I filled a notebook I had to choose which empty notebook I wanted to be my who positive notebook next and I was like a choose the blue one do I choose one or a green one. I went with the orange. One was exciting. It was exciting to feel like I had used this notebook for something that means something to me. It was exciting to see that I was able to fill an entire booklet of graph paper with notes. That are mostly about this podcast. I had a lot of fun taking these notes and just looking back like the handwriting in the notes I took. It's just nice to see how excited I was about. How excited I am about it and I look forward to do in this podcast every time I sit down and do it. It's just it's a fun thing to do. I hope to fill another notebook with notes. Just on this podcast. It's all for episode fifty two next time I'll talk about faceless ones and macro tear and dive back into my twelve doctor. Watch I've got interviews on the Reisen and lots of places left to go. I hope to see you soon. Thank you very much for listening.

"Series twelve trailer. I think the biggest thing on people's minds right now related to Doctor. Who is the trailer we got four series twelve? Looks like we're getting to see some returning classic monsters. Looks like we're GONNA get a new look for the twelve doctor in the form of more formal attire. Something with a bow tie. I'm looking forward to that. I always like it when the doctor dresses up looking forward to that. Also I like costume varies more than just a little bit. I think that's always fun to see us before that. Look forward to seeing more of the FAM. I'm looking forward to seeing how the thirteenth Dr Tackles some enemies that we've seen other doctors tackle like the Cyberman and possibly the daleks. So that'll be fun. I'm inviting senior against one dollars. I wonder how she will do against a fleet of dialects so yeah looking forward to look forward to more of the Dune I always liked their Koon speak their Mojo Role Ho stuff. I thought that was funny. So yeah serious. Twelve looks like it's going to be great. Can't wait doesn't look at me have much longer to wait for. It looks like we're getting a New Year's special perhaps so that's just a few months away very excited series. Twelve looking forward to it. I ordered myself thirteenth doctor's scarf the other day in anticipation of series. Twelve holidays. Well it's Thanksgiving As record this and I gotta say I'm not a big Fan Holidays I. It's not that I have anything. Gets THEM PER SE? It's just that I'm somebody who likes to just more be home. Do my own thing than being forced to do something like hanging out with my family and stuff like that. I did go over to a friend's house. We had an ice friendsgiving in that. Was it was lovely. But for the most part I I often wondered why certain holidays are a big event for some families. And let me say if you are someone who really digs. Thanksgiving really digs Christmas. And it's really important to you and your family. That's great you have taken time. That's been given to you by your work or whatever and you made it specialty. You and that's great. There are a lot of holidays. I mean there's a lot of holidays and not all of them. Were special that everybody and so I am often struck by why we are stuck in this kind of Rut of holidays that are important to some people but not everybody and that if there are holidays that are really important to you that a lot of times you get to have that day off or you have to make special arrangements to have that day off so it would be really cool if I could take November twenty third off every year because that November twenty third is far more important to me than Whatever Day thanksgiving seems to land on November twenty third? Being the anniversary of doctor who I'd love to take my birthday off every year. I think having a personal holiday would be great but I don't necessarily need to have Chris. I don't necessarily need to have Thanksgiving but that is it is what it is in my lifetime. I hope to see a change in that. I hope that there could be a little bit more respect for holidays across more cultures. So that's what I'm hoping for. But how did I spend my holidays? Thanksgiving? I watched a little bit of doctor who force the macro terror just came out and started watching it on the fifty sixth anniversary of doctor who are watching and I also watch some eleven doctor stuff and some third doctor stuff The third doctor stuff is where I am up to in my view. Watch of the whole series and the eleventh doctor stuff is what I am up to in my rewatch of new series stuff. So that was fun. Always love watching Doctor. Who macrey terror something? I have never gotten a C. Before so seeing it in the elements animated glory is awesome. I'm watching the color version. Might as well watch color. I figure because it's not like this is exactly what it was before they try to recreate how it was before but really enjoying it. Patrick Troughton is a doctor that I have always admired and really liked one of the reasons. I have not doug the first and second doctor as much as other doctors because I haven't watched them nearly as much as other doctors and the show was kind of in a pro form. At that point it hadn't really solidified some of the ideas what it is to be doctor who yet so I kinda like it. When it's a little bit more solid has a little bit more of that mythos behind but yeah so I spent the twenty two November watching doctor who I watched a little bit more doctor who on Thanksgiving Day and watching a little bit more doctor who today second anniversary this reporting of this episode is the closest to the anniversary date of this podcast positive It was November twenty fourth twenty. Seventeen when I first launched through positive and it's been two years now and I thought I would reflect a little bit on things I've learned my second year of podcasting One of the things is that this year has been really rough for me. I had a really rough year battle a lot of personal stuff and come through it and I am really grateful for this podcast because it gives a positive outlook in it. It helped me like feel that I was making something Mostly for myself. But if you're listening to this great when I'm trying to do is I'm trying to build up place for people to have positive fan. Dial where people can talk about the things. They love how much they love them and why they love him and what it means to them to have this thing that brings the joint in their life. That's what I'm trying to do and because of that I'm probably going to open up more to other phantoms. Besides just doctor who? I talked to a couple of guests pretty soon. That's the other thing is I'm going to have more guests in in year. Three I am planning on bringing a little bit more energy to this podcast now that I'm through this rough year. I think I have the emotional wherewithal to put more effort in. Sorry if I have been out lacking lately but I think I can really get back on the on the ball on this one. I think it can really bring bring more to the podcast and I'm looking forward to that. I had I learned not to do a podcast while I'm doing laundry which has worked every single time. I accept this time. I've actually doing laundry while I'm recording this yet. Second Year still in it. Still Love and doing this and I might not have been as on the nose with my posting this year but I am definitely GonNa continue on into your three and I am GonNa wind up some more great guests. I mean talk. More people about what their phantoms meet them and wipe brings joy more of `gate-keeping and phantoms. I'm really curious to see if my phantoms are. The only fans that do geeky stuff or if there's geeky stuff in every fandom and I'm just not aware of it as much in other words but anyway you're to lots of fun it was A. It's been a place where I can Get some comfort and some solace so I really appreciate that. I very much appreciate your listening. So yeah who positive. You're three coming up. I've been Andy. This has been. Who Positive thank you for listening..

"Eighth Doctor. Time more three. Yes more big. Finish more fantastic big. Finish eighth doctor. Adventures are something that I always look forward to. I hope that they keep producing many eighth doctor series for ever never never. I just can't get enough. Palm again is the eighth doctor. He's got some great companions one of my favorite campaigns ever Charlotte Pollard. Was An eighth doctor. Companion and with bliss. He has another great companion. You get to learn more about her back story in this box set and you get to delve into the time more some more with the eighth doctor which is also really cool. I love the juxtaposition of the eighth doctor. Not Wanting to be involved the time more at all and then taking the potion that the sisterhood of karn offers him and deciding to become a warrior. Because that's what these times call for. I just think that that's really cool. And I think you see why the eighth doctor would make a choice like that through these time. War Box sets great stuff but the best part of this box set is the last adventure in the four adventure box set and that is the war val yard now. I love the character of the value. I think the idea of a enemy being the future. Dark part of the doctor is really awesome. I love the ways that they're able to bring the value back from time to time. We've seen him in other big finish adventures. And of course she saw in trial of a time. Lord and I believe he's made some appearances in other media as well but what I really like about that is that it is not the master who is a totally different character. That's this is actually a possible future. Doctors dark side and however they explained what creates value. It is the doctor biting himself. And I just think that that is a cool concept and I think that they're able to pull it off really well whenever they use the value. They always have a really good idea going in now when we first met the valued in trial of time Lord the last episode of trial of a time Lord is we know did not go the way they intended. They weren't able to use the original script for it. Because Eric say word left but this they going with a plan and it's really great for us to hear Michael Jason. Back in the part and having face off against the eighth doctor. Which again is Romantic doctor Doctor. That has a lot of heart cares very much about his companions. The world doesn't want to be part of the time more so the value add up against that is an interesting juxtaposition and I enjoyed it greatly with the eighth doctor. Stuff any place you really want to jump into with big finish is a good place to start with talker. Pretty much any of the sets. You could just jump in and that'd be great place for you to start. I of course highly recommend starting with a storm warning the first eight doctor adventure but you know jumping wherever you feel comfortable because the doctor stuff is really easy to get into and Paul mcgann is a pro at the audio stuff. That's where his doctor really came to life. Most so you see a doctor. That's really been developed through the audio and that's really cool to a doctor time worth three. I can't believe they're still telling great time war stories. I was really dubious when they said they were going to do it. But they have exceeded my expectations at every turn meds so I started PROZAC last week. And I gotta say it has really helped a lot. I am not having those catastrophic thoughts that I was having before that I couldn't dismiss Now if I have some kind of catastrophic scenario playing in my head like I get hit by a bus today or something like that I'm able to easily dismiss it. You know kind of say thank you thought for trying to keep me sharp. But I'm going to focus on some other stuff now. by focuses way up Energy levels are up. The medicine has helped a whole lot. And I am very glad that I So it helped that I that I got help because I was in a really dark bad place and now I'm feel like I'm coming out the other side and I'm I'm feeling much much better. I'm really glad that I took the steps. I did and I would encourage people if you are in a place like that. You know. Medication doesn't have to be forever Sometimes people are just in a in a place where they need some help lifting themselves out of a deep depression and once they get themselves reset to normal they. They can t go off the meds. I did that once before about ten years ago and now I'm to try it again. I'm going to see if this is something where I would need to pay possibly be a more permanent vacation or perhaps I will talk to my doctor again. You're numb. She'll be like no. You're cool you can go off of it and whatever she whatever she decides. That's that's the advice that I will follow but yeah it's been it's been a great great help but I I have a very much appreciated the support of people. It's just been really great to see that people care and that Now and that. There's there's relief for this. I mean it's something that you manage. It's not something that you cure but at the medicine is definitely helping me manage and I am very very grateful. Dr Who Series Twenty Six Blu Ray. So the final season of classic. Who is going to be released as a Blu Ray box set the BLU ray box sets? I have found have been awesome the special features that they load them with our fantastic and in the preview for this one we get to see so altered back and character as ace which was very very cool. I will post a link to that so if you haven't gotten a chance to watch that yet you can check it out a big. Fan of the BLU ray box sets. I mean it's not just seeing the episodes like in crystal clear Blu Ray but it's also the special features that a little more than the new commentaries and all that stuff if you are already a fan of the classic era of Dr Who than the Blu. Ray Box sets really make a fine addition to your collection if you're looking for a way to watch the classic era of Doctor Who I highly recommend a box subscription because that way you get a tons of episodes But if you wanted something that you could watch on Blu Ray than the blue box at checkout but the special features are really. The Star of the box sits there. They put a lot of time and effort into the special features. And that's where it's at with this kind of stuff. It was really the the value added material six. I'm really excited about it. As everyone knows. The seventh doctor is in my highest tier of doctors. I really liked what Lester McCoy. Brought to the rule he was one of the doctors that was with me the longest because I kept falling his adventures in the Virginia Adventures Books And I'm still reading those so I feel way that the seventh doctor never really left my consciousness. So that's probably why he's one of my top tier doctors and I love the darkness that he had I love. He's weird affectation. I loved his rolling of his honors. And all of that by some doctor very excited. There isn't a season. I think I'm looking forward to on BLU ray. More than season twenty six. I could mend that later but for now I think that's that's sure season. Twenty six of the season most looking forward to for a blue box. Set the interviews and stuff like that are going to be awesome. I can just very excited. That's all for this episode. I've been Andy. This has been positive. Thank you for listening..

I might know that that's absolutely absolutely not so but he's on someone's i like. Actually that might be more demon that come out of yeah yeah. I really like feel about that. I was on board with it but but maybe you're not found out i was not action. I had a reaction was not a happier. It's just the replacement. It was honestly feel like my dad. Whenever i call him he would come back. Straightaway rapid fire and three weeks have gone by. He had no call me back and i quote him every week. Normal time hit not called me and we did what he been doing. I've been busy doing what not one i've gotta go like. You're trying to tell me that you didn't call your doctor because you i expect that from my male friends not from my father his reaction to it feels like apple users. It was okay. It is okay but you always gotta be weeks three weeks. That's what you did. I asked my brother like i just think wrong mine trouble. Ah yeah i wanna get back to eric's question really quick. What's the one thing that you're hoping doesn't yes come. Come out of this like when when you go into that abyss that iowa's known to take you in especially dealing with ego and you're making your conscious your subconscious satellite yes so in deep deep deep deep down in you. What are you like. Oh i'm not enough. I'm ready to deal with this. I'm i'm concerned that i'm pretty content with how i am with live. Which is what i'm hoping it it comes out of it is like a refresh or this is what asked you can try now not a thirty three and you're like the better to come out like the fear. "Human okay well. Let's not tantalize our listen any longer and we'll we'll start by discussing teams of the JAPS. I he was to kick us off with what they thought about that I might as well yeah. I I loved it. It was one of the best bits of slices doctor who for me. casino is a bad day missed. I've enjoyed the show since Vincent. Dr sets quite some time. that was kind of my fairly long running yeah favorite episodes of the Mo- fits here would say I didn't then okay. I can't quite articulate. Roy in some ways as I can. I noticed that some of the same folks that we've seen in in some of the other episodes I chatted with friends who've happily being the pick plus so in it but but for me the way I tend to engage with these things if I'm enjoyed the story actually engaged with the characters and the plot then I I can put these in these are the kind of things to one side and just just really get interested and and absurd. It's up for me Paul. What I saw I saw Jones reaction before I watched it which unfortunately set my my expectations slightly to about I did I did know blaming you. I'm obey and I I was very pleased. I think the I mean another thing the five less than glowing about this episode. It's not mainly down to Giles East down coming after Rosa because I still that's still way up there. It was my favorite episode but this was a fast second and there's a pattern forming their. I'm wondering if when we to the end of the series the older historical stores have been my favorite and if so what will that tell me that definitely something something distinctive about the way they're approaching them isn't that I mean I know we've talked about the way that the stores would take him. No more subtle approach to the idea of Evil Villainy uh-huh had just general evidence agonised for the doctrine each each story but the historical ones the ones that are personifying that I think so yeah the subtlety which had his best series subtlety is something you appreciate at its worst. It's when it is an absence absences something well more dramatical melodramatic been used to for fifty years so it's not it's not entirely a positive saying that I spent the last few years thinking that they program was too over the top wishing drain some the Colorado fit but anyway we're supposed to this episode I thought it was very nice piece of drama and probably a better piece of Dr who than Rosa just to make that comparison again because the the science fiction strand of the plot I felt was more imaginative taste better integrated and more and more surprising had trump twist which which is nice so and I don't. I hope because they're saying that the the main plot was delightful well. I think he's past the halfway point in the series. I think it's time to stop beating around the Bush. I think by fuel reviews guys are actually more interesting than what I saw on the screen taming of the Punjab ever society but I found it unbelievably dull this razor had had a point to it in the cree with trying to stop doc someone preventing a very important part of American history happening. They swamped bearing in mind. It was say people and story. Driven didn't didn't really have strong roles. The characters involved and this is. GonNa sound harmless but I couldn't really care less about someone going. I'm back in time because of a broken watch. Unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. At all again. it's a science fiction and fantasy and she showed the aliens in it. Rutley pointless again. It's another alien character probably worth of plus forty million scoring and scrabble so I just I just couldn't I couldn't see the point of them being in it and if you can have it story and people driven then give all of the companions the friends strong role to play. Yes doesn't seem to have any screen presence to me. I think I can and say that now having watched beyond the halfway point in the series now she just doesn't help screen at I don't know if it's the script or the or the actress Ryan was badly part of the scenery all the way through the episode the best character it was prim- I think he was the Hindu guy shot at the end that was that was a poignant moment but I'll just just wasn't it. Just didn't greet me real real letdown. I thought Rosa was fantastic as well that was really tightly plotted and and there was a real countdown with that that bus journey that was a but attention there but I just didn't find. I just didn't find this story involving. It's all so yes arguably is a very important policy history as well just just like American civil rights but the story and the characters in the roles of the friends and the scripts scripts. I just didn't think it was powerful enough to get across the the you know the consequences of the partition of India so I didn't do it so for me. I'm afraid Oh the other thing I've read lots of gushing praise about the filmography well it was filmed in Spain say I think people feel let down if I check that out and then the part where they cut away to the woods and they found the the alien captial whatever it was that looks like exactly the same woods just they used in the woman he felt earth when Ryan again came across something alien in the woods as well so that could it could have been very high brow and very satisfying but it was so dull I sucked. They're picking it to pieces unfortunate. Sorry guys okay so so I suppose I fill four somewhere in between I mean I I actually really quite liked the lack of action in sort of slow pace and the fact that it was. It's a character piece. That didn't bother me at all. I was Bravo with Rosa. I I felt like I could have been quite happy with this being pure historical yes. I felt I felt that the the the aliens didn't really add a huge amount and Simon's going to shake his head this because they were the only threaten threaten it well apart from of course from from the Hindi phonetics but but yeah I mean I could quite happily watch. AM carried a piece for for forty five minutes and so quite the aspect of it and Graham thought was had a lovely scene in it chatting in a way to to Yasay Simon. I mean as far as far as as yes is concerned mandate Gil I mean she's got a Yorkshire accent so sell straightaway. She got off to when when she she told the knew all the characters and the woman I felt I thought what a great idea so probationary police women can be a strong character lots of zest and Gutsy and it just hasn't Napn since then and this story was all around her family and what had happened in the past to to get grandma and yes to where they were in present-day present-day Sheffield and it. It just didn't hold my attention fortunate you know I I love. I Love Vincent and the doctor as well. They like character-driven stories but I'm just all these all these stories they lack of lack of attention and lack of menace. We'll talk about this later about the direction the script in writing and the guy but you still gotta grab hold in some windy view is no people's attention because if someone asks sorry guys if someone else out time is about us you know what. Dr Who all about you wouldn't describe something like demons or the pungent possibly not even riser and I want to pass on the torch to to new fans to the shy feel slightly the different about but we'll we'll move onto that demons of the Punjab I I think that's been the weakest one of the series safe off interesting. I I don't disagree with your criticisms. It was slower than it needed to be in the character or characters ones quite as vivid as could have been but you know I'm so used to to that with this current series. That's that's almost become a new baseline for me so I still giving it a bit of a pass because doing something different but as is the second historical in a row where the ducks has not been trying to do something but trying to prevent something it's it's really flagging up a bit of a floor consensual floor for me there floor consensual existed for most of the history through this program with historical. Delta's into the future presidents future. He can change the events in the past he comes and based on nothing more than the fact that we know near that is in the past in our history folks who it's it's never made any sense. Russell oh how to go fixing it with his fixed moments in time and that appears to other than using that phrase that appears to have been kept as yeah well yeah I think in Rosa we wasn't unacknowledged fixed point in time here. It's the father's Day version of time travel into the past where you con change things because it's your own pass and credit paradox so really they are the only two different versions of restrictions travel into the past museum insane and they've used them both up and so fell so I'll be interested to see what happens in the next which I think is next week because they they can't reuse again. They've got to stand around treating the past a bit more like the future vice versa because otherwise is creating artificial distinction. I think which the viewers will notice if you do it too often so the doctor I'm presiding over the marriage led to prims definite because it offended did because it was a marriage of two different religions Hindu and Muslim that offended that offended some of the locals and he's younger brother yet the yet the think the holy man who they found dead on the tracking the woods it would have been him he would have presided over the wedding so the doctor intervened and kill you telling me that the whole wouldn't have been killed if the doctor hadn't been there is that it was just just just been running a try not to look into it too deeply. It was just trying to think about this policy of non-interference. Just let you touched upon Paul. I think I think we're supposed to believe events would have regarded that whole thorny tony issue. I won't get into this here but one version time travel is these events happened once without the doctrines companions there and and when they turn up now that's a different version they have to go back to the future to version where you have to keep in the shadows and not be seen in our influence anything not flies but the end the other version is that they were always is there is the the known which is the deterministic version so which means they can't. They can't chain not sure what I think about that. We could do a whole episode of mechanics time travel that version suggest to me that they can't change anything if they were always there then. They don't need to worry about not exactly because they wouldn't be able to. I thought if that's those events would transpired anyway. If the doctrine friends come back there anyway and Tamale cynical mind having at Loyola upset very much. I thought well that makes it even more pointless..
