"Three five five eight five seven six six find out more WTOP dot com Mike Morello WTOP news the W. G. a B. car review as we just want to focus on something very important during the pandemic affordability this time we try out the kia forte G. T. it's a small sedan the makes the daily commute a lot more fun he forgot Mike Pierce tells us about it this morning with a GT stands for great times for a small compact car usually when you think of the kia forte you kind of thought of like yeah it's fine basic transportation but other than that you really didn't think much of it but now for twenty twenty the GT model is a lot of fun it looks pretty good doesn't really wow you with looks but bigger wheels a little spoiler little body kit makes a look a little bit more fun and if you want a one horse power is nothing to sneeze at these days and a dual clutch automatic transmission that does lead to a little bit more fun than your usual compact sedan in this market so let's talk mileage and then let's talk price you do pretty well I did about thirty miles per gallon for my week of this little fun machine and it was a nice break to drive in the times we're living in now so it made the daily commute to still come in here a lot more fun and you know what let's price very well about twenty two thousand start twenty six thousand all the options don't add it now allows some of the stereotypes are this might be your first car or a younger person's car but I don't know you can see it maybe it before somebody will advance to still wants to have a little fun yes an advanced person like me had a lot of fun with the seats really how do you like us ports Kerr should and has that flat bottom steering wheel so it gets a little bit of a more racy appearance but it doesn't beat you up every day that maybe it's a little bit more firm than other cars in this class but it's not a bad daily commuter car at all and what are the negatives that it's not is fun looking at say maybe the Honda civic SI and you do have this weird transmission this dual clutch is very quick shifting but at lower speeds it can be a little bit strange but there is a way around it pick one with the manual transmission and you got everything that you need and so somebody blessing was hurt us review some of the really expensive cars says I can finally afford one definitely so this is a a cheap ride that gives you a longer warranty about a ten year hundred thousand mile powertrain warranty and it's not the basic you're gonna forget about driving it it does give you a little bit more than some other cars in this price range that's WTOP car guy Mike Parris well give a Dimitri see pictures of read a lot more about the kia forte G. "Week one until five on news radio a Levin fifty W. G. O. W. all right I want to report on it the show obviously is a lot of influence far and wide and I want to continue pushing back on the centralization of decision making whether it's medicine or economics Dr catch the expert goes on but as the work force is laid off and mas our families one adult child home for that reason already in colleges close with another two young adults back home for this reason young people of indeterminate infectious status are being sent home to huddle with their families nationwide we thought about that they've closed all the school systems where children are not in danger if you're sending them home they say because they don't want them to spread the contagion to whom are they sending them home to parents and grandparents which is point for all you know you're infecting every family in the country college kids who otherwise wouldn't be home who may be the biggest carriers in yet have the least problem whether he goes on because we lack widespread testing they may be carrying the virus and transmitted to their fifty something parents and seventy or eighty something grandparents is there any clear guidelines for behavior within families what I call vertical interactive interdiction I've not seen it such is the collateral damage of this diffuse form of warfare aimed at flat in the epidemic curve generally rather than preferentially protecting the especially vulnerable I believe we may be in effectively fighting the contagion even as we're causing economic collapse there's another much overlook liability in this approach if we succeed in slowing the spread of the corona virus from torrent to trickle then when does the society wide disruption what will it be safe for healthy children and young teachers to return to school much less older teachers and teachers with chronic illnesses what will be safe for the work force to repopulate the workplace given that some are at the risk group for severe infection what would it be safe to visit loved ones in nursing homes and hospitals one once again my grandparents pick up the grand children there are many possible answers but the most likely one is we just don't know we could wait until there is an effective treatment the vaccine or transmission rates fall to undetectable levels one of those are a year or more away then we suffer the full extent of social disruption the virus my calls for all those months the cost not just in money are staggering to contemplate so what's the alternative well we can focus our resources on testing and protecting in every possible way all those people the data indicator especially vulnerable to severe infection the elderly.

"Twenty W. G. N. all right coming up on the program later this hour we are going to play our first corona virus inspired game already played half of it is called stump the shelf keep listening because we've already chosen our winner for today and when I say winter I mean you know that's a relative term here's the idea we are going to find celebrity chefs locally nationally today we're starting with our dear friend chef Mike he's the man who runs the catering at the end knighted center it's got everything you could possibly imagine he's made everything you could possibly imagine and here's the idea what we do is early on in the show we solicit for a color by number if you are that color by number you call we pick up if you thank you caller for example the nineteen call we pick up the say hello you're the nineteenth caller you win a twenty five dollar luminaries guess certificate name three items that you have in your kitchen that you would like to make for dinner and an hour later we will have our celebrity chef on to tell you exactly what that recipe should be and I will just tell you that this particular set of items for today is a little daunting because it involves creamy things and I'm not sure how this is all going to work out that's coming your way we also are going to be talking to our friend rocky work sees all of our friends he is the chairman of the Chicago Blackhawks and he injury runs or did something really amazing by deciding that we're going to pay their employees throughout all of this the trouble that we are having and and they they as it turns out are really one of the one of the organizations that is doing that and a lot of other organizations or not and that's the only problem is having the president today even acknowledged at his press conference that said there is concern about a recession that his administration is concerned about recession but once this the danger has passed everything will bounce back Susan Schmidt joins us right now from Aviva investors and the Dow seem to not like what happened yesterday where the federal reserve cut the interest rates to zero because right after that happened the overnight international trading seem to go way down and then that the Dow drops three thousand points today eight and a half percent what happens tomorrow so who knows if you remember that we've got a very volatile market right now we had a big down day last Thursday and yet Friday was up nearly ten percent now we've got Monday were down against the Michigan only we're not really sure what's going to happen tomorrow the market tailed off at the end with I think some concern from president trump's statements that can continue it might end at the earliest July or August that's a longer time frame than the market is absorbing in the market had a lot of information thrown at it over the weekend it it's trying to digest hence the big drop when it opened this morning we put out a circuit breaker you start trading halt for fifteen minutes thanks very unusual it was so the market had time to digest all that information so that's the big problem I think of a lot of us are having today this afternoon when the president did say Hey maybe August maybe July you know he always wants to make it a little bit better right he's he's he's an optimist a lot of ways so he's like saying Hey if it's August maybe July that coming September doesn't it well we're not really sure and I think that's the big thing here is by July or August does that mean that schools are still out there okay but we're not going back but he's still asking us to gather in groups of ten or less we don't know what the magnitude of that is and I think that's where investors are really struggling or seen a fall in stock prices not because the companies are that much different than where they were two weeks ago it because buyer can't figure out what the business is gonna look like or have to go through in the next six months in further stepping to the sidelines the sellers are there buyers aren't in your scene this volatility in the market as a result of that all right what are the sectors that got hit the hardest today well we thought a lot of damage across the board because now we're at the point where again people are indiscriminate in what they're selling they just don't want exposure until they can put some clarity around it I think what was interesting was you thought what went up today Clorox Krueger started the day strong American Airlines had a positive day Norwegian cruise line came up charge when we opened today so I think it's more interesting to look at those because the signs of support from the administration we saw the fed dropped a hundred basis point to one percentage taking interest rate back down to zero we need to see that kind of support coming from the administration so when you get a comment from the administration that they're backstopping the airline one of the results from that was we saw a surge in American Airlines stock price I think we're gonna get continued volatility you're gonna see some extreme Motorcraft batch it this point just repaired the people are deciding I'm in I'm out of the market they're not really making individual business decisions yet on where they want to invest and for the long term investor that's what you should be doing because here's your opportunity to actually be able to buy into some of these companies that put the long term the fabulous operators and winners in might be you know a great success story for you remember that when everyone took their money out in two thousand eight they really regretted it because when they look back later ten years forward they more than doubled if it stayed in the market and that's I think what has been a lot of investors minds right now right his friend and even busters thank you very much appreciate your time will be speaking to you I think a few times here there's a couple of weeks all right I thank you all right let's let's check in now Lauren lapkus Intel's is having on the roadways.

G. and we are live in the skyline studio here until four AM it is Friday morning so we will be doing our regular Friday feature straight accounts expect the show's buys you big dummy flood jams Friday that's all coming up our phone number is three one two nine eight one seven two hundred it is the twenty third annual anti Valentine's day show I hate Valentine's day and we talk about that every year at this time and if you want to jump in with a tax there's or so with your terrible romantic stories three one two nine eight one seven two hundred right now I would love to welcome to the show Kurt brown holder who is that hilarious comedians appearing at zanies this weekend and and a very funny guy Kurt how are you good man Hey doing good good good I did I think you're so funny man I've been a fan for a really long time thank you man I appreciate it how does look good go back here what when did you first decide you wanted to do comedy was it something that you that used to be thought about when you were a kid the you know no I think I wanted to be marine biologist and I found out that I'm terrible at nine and so now yeah now I'm a comedian yeah okay all right so weird you grow occurred I grew up in Jersey thirty chairs baby yeah smoking when our hands because the jerseys sure of course I was we were just talking in the last second I had some gas on we were talking about smoking and and I I I I quit smoking when when the when the packets of cigarettes it turned it will cost five Bucks that was like okay I can't do this anymore I was just totally wow I was just told that fourteen dollars for a pack of cigarettes hello yeah man it is crazy I don't I don't smoke anymore yeah that that it really just waste your budget yeah I completely I was like man I five dollars and now I've got you know I don't know how people spend forty dollars on a pack of cigarettes I I just missed I mean you know I mean that's it's like close to a what is at seventy five cents a cigarette something like that I mean it's not it's just cause you wanna live man a live so let's talk about you know how you got into how you got into comedy when did that that when did that start for it I started doing comedy and upright citizens brigade in New York on Saturday yeah and then and start doing stand up in two thousand four when I started the show with Kristen Schaal and we've been running that show every Monday night for fifteen years now lay she so bony she is so funny the man yeah she's just great yeah that's that's great fifteen years so you so you started out it upright citizens brigade so you did improv first yes I started out as doing improv and got into the whole cult of improv I really I was teaching improv I just really like out all signed and like it was a church or something yeah and then I realized I need to make money but they're doing stand up yeah well all right cool so you're in town here at zanies this week and what a great room right that's great it's just like a low ceiling will small small in beautiful sorry all right you guys I apologize I'm outside a bar right now all right okay all right I think I caught it in time I think we're I think we're okay thank you yeah I think we're okay so so you started doing that you started doing the start of the improv and all that stuff and what was in the name of the movie that perfectly I made my particular made a movie about a problem right yeah it was I can't remember very good man it was a great movie and then read it reconnected I I started second city here in Chicago and that movie was about as accurate as you can you can possibly get in the war for the world of it it it's a very small world very small world exactly so you you can sort using these is tonight and that's a good one of the things I've I've actually did a little stand up and saying he's a for a couple years and the thing about that room is that it's such a great room but when you're on stage you could literally you're at the risk of kicking somebody's drink off the the state what it is yeah they're the barn that goes right over the edge of the stage and it is the first club where there is a bar on the edge of the stage and there are people break there if you like kick your foot out yeah just like kick somebody in the teeth yeah it's it's pretty pretty crazy so I this is the anti Valentine's day show Kurt and I eat it we want to hear some some of your maybe sort of your weird romantic stories and I know that you you you told a story about that how you propose to your wife in on a hot air balloon can we hear yeah yeah no I I ever I propose to my wife and I had air balloon which is a terrible idea and we like god and then she immediately Hanneke active she's scared of heights which I did not know does she had a panic attack for a full hour yeah and it is terrifying being on a hot air balloon because that is actually a basket made of turn of the century lawn furniture and then there's the flame thrower inches from your head and like a real and then also there's like a real you know like a weirdo who is in the basket with you know weirdo who is dedicated his life to hot air ballooning and they call themselves tiles even though they're just they're just just piloting something that is gonna crash eventually right and my what my my wife wouldn't even my now wife wouldn't even turn around she was so scared she was just holding on like collecting her needs like they told her that was like crash position like we haven't done it to thousands beat out of the statues that I jumped right at the end yeah and then I had to like wait until we landed to our proposed to her and then she was just so happy just to be on the ground to be online Mary Ann brown I come here you just because I'm alive all right Kerr yeah Kurt Kurt were wrong lower Ron holders with us it very funny guy and he's appearing at zanies this weekend and we're gonna talk more with him at three one two nine eight one seven two and is the phone number the anti Valentine's day show to Chicago mothers cut down before their prime the lingering impact when women are victims of gun violence in the wounds that may never heal Monday on WGN TV news at nine bills you look amazing what's the secret are you sick number three sixty smart he chooses the comfort on his side to spine we feel great can help keep you sleep senses are movements.

"Here on seven twenty W. G. and and we're gonna get back to the theme park talking crazy rides talk this program so much fun with that in the news is next from the northwestern medicine news or we do have a call here from a listener who want to comment on the the topic that we're just talking about the use of cannabis both recreationally but more importantly medically and Davis here hi Dave hi how you doing this morning okay Sir we had a I did I I I really needed to because I was never that much of a believer in using that for you know anything that doing that but couple years back my wife was diagnosed with head and neck cancer it was severe enough that she had thirteen hour surgery removed her voice box in her throat I had to sit there and take it muscle and skin tissue off of redacted formed in his throat then of course chemo and their keep him on radiation both there weren't prescribing heard thirty milligrams of oxycontin the instant kind three times a day then between that was time released more speed and with what they were given her she was sick all the time losing weight down to a hundred and fifteen pounds around there which was it was incredibly set this up there is your goal treat that we sat there in actually a family member that has mother lot have dispensary so we give it would be edibles yeah and I'll tell you what not only did she get her appetite but it does help control the pain she went down to only takes the oxycontin in the morning it didn't have to do it the rest of the day and she you know yeah better straight the stuff like that but we're really surprise me she had seven different doctors through this whole ordeal and not one of them would sit there and advocate anything that had to do with the animals or anything no medical they said we can help control the pain this way which I I yeah IT help control but she was sicker than a dog she was not sought tell you what I I I I don't know about the recreational use but as far as medically I'm all I'm all for that I I'm but I do see that up we went through that and I tell you what I I I'm a firm believer of that now big time yeah yeah is there how is your wife doing I should rewrite it that one year cancer free man yes Conrail you what it is yeah that was about a couple weeks ago we we had our our one year checkup and everything looks great and now we're looking at maybe getting to step foot in because she still can't talk about boys box yeah but I'll tell you why they even though she's going through that part right now yeah this you have your dental anything more I I still have thank god yeah I was just gonna say she still with you ma'am are that's right thank you thank you for the call thank you for the call on your best about to your wife okay thank you so much hi Dave take care about current well it's a great story great story when your cancer free god bless her all right three one two nine eight one seven two and is the phone number we're gonna get to too but we were talking about old Chicago the ridiculous concept that old Chicago was even though it ruled but I believe Chicago is a concept that could only exist in the seventies it is a part of it is a source of great memories for me though I have to say as tacky as weird as the place was full Chicago in case you don't remember was a an indoor amusement park slash mall in Bolingbrook only lasted about five years and it was kind of ill conceived and weird about I love the place and I was a kid so we're talking about that and that's that's gonna get us into well other crazy theme parks we were talking a little bit about places like adventure land Kitty land and of course the classic Riverview which is of my parents generation which was located at Belmont western which I still find astonishing but there are many pretty crazy and weird theme parks around the world the travel dot com put together an article detailing some of these and if you've traveled around me is Marcus up no the market is not listening I bet you know what I I OP is Marcus is up listening give workers you know he travels around he goes to a lot of theme park rides a lot of crazy roller coasters market so shocked by the ways we're talking about from the TV side of WGN whose great god man on the show many many times good friend he specializes in that kind of stuff and I bet he'd have some stories are some rides that that there that he did he has gone on so travel dot com says and and by the way if you've been on some insane rides and you want to describe them and if you've been to some really crazier weird theme parks from around the country around the world three one two nine eight one seven two hundred three one two nine eight one seven two hundred when you think about it every theme park is a crazy idea who would think that for entertainment human beings would want to be dropped from intense heights are flung forward it biologically impossible speeds who would think the tourist one a visit a purely artificial destination where the cultures structures in characters are entirely fictional theme parks are fundamentally ludicrous idea but evidently the appeal to a large diverse.

"And the ad council may very well be a available to speeding the Donald W. G. R. sports radio five fifty the back one last segment of inside high school sports coach rich brochure had to leave to go to his games of time and I will finish it off probably gonna talk track next week I think that's one thing that we're looking at we're trying to cover as much as we can and and then you know after that were in the playoffs baby in tracks can be so we got some good big things to talk about right now on track is shattered heard about a national one woman for pole vaulter right now for track going after national character it sorry going after national prominence right now fourteen foot clearance in pole vault Leah out of orchard park right now big names coming out of track and field we're gonna hear some big things next week when we talk track and field that absolutely sorts are still trying to line that up and die F. as I said after that will be in the playoff talk and it just goes by switch you know we complain about winter but winter sports flies by I tell people as a blink of an eye in its over next thing you know we're talking now baseball softball and lacrosse which yeah I'm excited about because that means a spring time and go back to my backyard and all those things but listen everyone knows I can't wait to talk baseball so but let's finish the hockey talk because right now what we were talking about AS divisions let's at least explain everybody what these divisions aren't who's in these divisions right now so we already said division one St Joe's Saint Mary's of Lancaster he needs just time it and see Francis and that right now is the standings I have that we're showing in where they are in their standings right now for division one division to right now as you already heard coach talk about Lancaster leading the way in division two it goes Lancaster orchard park Clarence will north and Niagara Wheatfield for division two is where their standings are currently right now and again these can even change as of today especially with the Saint Joe's or our park game could have an impact today even in the standings then we go to division three division three currently is west Seneca west can more west Williams ville east front tier Hamburg your call a slash all day in north Tonawanda N. Lockport Niagara Falls so you can already see here that the it's not necessarily the all the large schools because look about Lockport Niagara Falls would normally be a double a school and consider another division that so young program that has formed what a year or two ago so there's there's still followed finding their way but what I'm trying to show is this isn't necessarily size you're right we're talking about that section six normally makes up their schools I mean even look at frontier that's in there right matching up west Seneca west we've got here Burke a lot of people are playing in that same variations in the one thing about hockey's receipt you have to have some combined programs yes no doubt about it but that's why I really wanted everyone to hear the different all all all of the different sure divisions and who's in there we still have one more division division for which is will south Starpoint Grand Island depuy Lewiston Porter sweet home west Seneca east which just had a shutout last night over west Seneca west yeah dot which is that now you're ready seniors a smaller school playing an upper school as far as divisions are concerned yeah believe twenty nine saves if I'm not mistaken and then the last two are Amherst and can more east so you can see is these divisions are very different and divisions were normally used to and that's right now the current standards that we have right now there's been a lot of change because if you look at at several of the teams that you've mentioned in the divisions and it wasn't too long ago that they were just club team yeah and that they've recently joined like star point our Niagara Wheatfield deal programs like that and there you know teams that have done very well I believe as coach mentions honesty Farentino culture club hockey for a while so the federation is grown and hopefully continues to grow more more look at all the of the race we have now so V. S. at availability of ice time is there yeah usually comes down to a money issue whether list field a team or not end it that's where it starts but you need to start and we're at the starting point you're seeing the growth happen even more more which is great to say and we'll keep making sure we do everything we can to promote as many of these kids began a program to go like Crowe said go to W. N. Y. athletics a and you find the standings they're kind of how often does matter our updated well it's as long as a coach discourse get reported they'll get updated right away so it's just needs to get the scores reported and they'll get updated you know real time excellent all right thank you to dare Kramer again savers and Columbus at one o'clock sports talk Saturday is following us after this talk to you next week sure you'll find sports action in stadiums and arenas yeah the best action is in the sports left at seven the buffalo creek casino place.

"You on wind after a long day of work I think kind of blue and first can go out yeah more on it doesn't work like that the night cap we've been approved on W. G. R. sports radio five fifty welcome back to the night cap our number two here on WGR it'll three oh five fifty is the phone number a lot to savers in the first hour lots of bills coming your way in the second our bills and stealers on Sunday night football eight twenty I think it's a twenty I will be along with you for pre game for the game and then we'll have the normal post game show with you open the bulldog and then myself a new gear you will be going one to three AM they may be if you're on your way to the airport to greet the bills after a win when they clinched the playoffs maybe you know good app that could happen they when they come to class so lot of playoff scenarios to go through over the next coming days let's wrap up though with our with our sabers conversation from the first hour and we might as well do that with our interview of the day today which is Ralph Krueger tapered head coach I love listening to he kind of reminds me in a way of Tim Murray not necessarily how they talk or even what they say but that same feeling of like I I love listen to these guys but when they're on now I'm going and that's not normal with most coaches like Dan Biles million never need here damn bells with doctor never need here Phil Housley dive never said anything interesting and here's you know Ralph Krueger coming along sounding smart and giving you what he thinks and here he is with Jeremy and here on the morning show alright here on WGR Ralph good morning it's Jeremy and not talk about you in for Howard how are you this morning good morning good morning I'm very good there and I like snow so it's a beautiful day in buffalo you have anywhere to go today I mean hopefully not driving too far I can I can get rough out there no no I live I live in the core the city so I have similar drive no matter rain or shine snow or sleet so it's it's five nine a my movements or easy were here at the rink or you get morning the coaches were back at it so what's on that what's on the docket out on on things you have to work on I mean last night's game was I think of fairly strong performance from your group fairly happy overall yeah I mean we're we're keeping on the plan which is to look for growth again today keeper picture small get ready for Nashville but more than anything we we need to take with what we did yesterday how we close out that game after the three two goal we had our best fifteen minutes of hockey this season finishing the game and controlling the scoreboard in understanding what it takes to to bring those kind of games home against the very heavy hard playing Saint Louis so I was proud of our Phoenician so that a lot more a lot more to confirm yesterday that learn from so that's always nice deal individual place you know you're talking with your best fifteen minutes will will you take the video go over it with the players what kind of what kind of I guess drills and or video sessions or whatever you might do with the players will you use to highlight exactly what about those fifteen minutes you like so much so what happens on a game they like to on a practice day like today is first of all we we need to know what's coming up which is again we continue on a on a torrid pace you're with two games in the next three days coming up so we we won't practice out long it'll be short and high quality low quantity and and then off the ice we generally will take some clips from the game yesterday that we like and also some that we didn't there's always things we can improve on and work work again in a in a contact form the guys are still recovering a little bit from our western Canada trip so we we take it easy on the information that may be a ten minute meeting about about the you know about about the things we like about the things we can work on and then we'll break off and are you know my my supporting coaches will do some individual work with players and that kind of power day looks today we just go right back at it and try to get better for the game against national tomorrow you manage to do something then that it seems like doesn't happen often which is when the first came back from a western trip I mean that's always will be a kiss of death kind of game it's always difficult for a team that comes back from the west to win their first home game did you do anything different about preparation we we talk load management before is there anything that you found to be a bit of a trick in in coming back from the Western Conference what we almost did nothing which was probably the trick so who would be we we we we didn't even see the players or or we left them alone on the on the day we came back at five in the morning there on on Sunday night and to Monday morning and then yesterday we did about a twelve or thirteen minutes gate in the morning to activate a little bit the hand bodies we kept it light as far as video and and and then brought them in real demand in the evening but it was it was actually leaving them alone making sure they got a lot of sleep and recovery time and that seem to work so you just need to feel what the group is capable okay it takes hang on and I think the momentum of the event from game which was really an excellent performance helped us a lot to to get back here in the Houston to perform like we did last night there is a coach Ralph Krueger in the western hotline lenis all mark has been just tremendous for you guys of late last night was a was not out of the ordinary for him I believe this is really taking a step here this season might build our goalie coach is doing an excellent job with him psychologically and physically yeah he he worked hard this summer to become more athletic and you know we can see it in the game but more than anything in mind how he's able to you know hold hold the more consistent aggressive style right through the games and it's it's improving and he's you know he's all you know is a big part of what's what's going on here soon I would say about eleven games now we're about eleven games into a stretch where we've been pretty consistent with our game we have that the wall about ten eleven games after a hot start where we were wandering in and out of our game but we you know we're quite pleased with the consistency of performance here were still gonna have our our our off moments and we're still gonna have times where we were we need to improve on but more than anything leave us is is you know is that is that this kind of developing like the group in general into a more consistent pattern which we like and give us a chance to win every night you're probably gonna need both goaltenders down the stretch if if you're gonna stay in a playoff race right now second in the division is your goalie schedule or your your percentage of starts per guide you have an idea going in or is it very much fluid week to week is a kind of a feeling out process for you being that it's your first year with both of these guys well no I've had some tough breaks in late and he's such a strong character any the actual leader in the room and a good voice even even as he's you know trying to get his confidence and momentum back but we we will definitely continue to go game by game whether it's the forwards whether it be you can see we're making scratches once in a while were you can you know where we are truly trying to do what's best for the group for the next game and they're not thinking much beyond that so there's no no real long term plan here guys we're we're just going to continue to try to put the group together that we think will give us the best chance to to stay in the race and that's we need to you know do you need to do against national again tomorrow with regard to your your defense when doing that Ralph you know you you're you've got a rotation whether it's Colin Miller's box one night or Marco Scandella the box one night is that what when you're picking the six that are that are going to play six or seven in some cases that are going to dress how do you how do you go about that are you looking at numbers you're looking at pairings whether not at a Paris mashing if a pair is matching is a guy more likely to stay in and not be bounced out by the rotation I I'm wondering exactly how you how you're arriving at each decision that the six are the best on a given night yeah well the the complication there's really been that the group has performed it exactly as that of the group and nobody has fallen off the map completely it's been extremely difficult because we feel there's a lot of parity there on the right now and and almost any combination will give us a chance and we're trying to make sure we we you know we keep the spirits in the right place and and the rotations have been taken well by the D. whether we played seven which is never a lot of fun for defense of the National Hockey League or we have somebody out there all in with the guys they they work out that much harder in the practices if they don't have a game and thus far what we do is this morning we got up early we come in our coaches talk begins with the roster begins with how we wanna come together for national would group we're gonna pick and you know it's it's it's there are there is there is some stomach behind all about some got decisions that are made but again we're we're happy with the group we're happy with the internal competition and pushes everybody to get it to to look for their a game every day and like most things were doing here we we we really make those decisions on the day I know you're really big in the communication and relationships so how how do you approach that with the guys because no one wants to sit obviously how how do you go about ideally you know conversation with the guys and how all that's going to play out well Donnie Granada with the forwards and Steve Smith with the be help me in that process so we are always communicating openly with the players before we announced the roster in the line up and we let the player know these I would if he is and given the opportunity to to to to discuss with us the situation possibly the why what what could be work on your P. as a practice sure he's watching the game instead of playing it and I want to say that the assistant coaches place huge role there because my day after practice I run into the media there's lots of other group things that I I take care of in the individually I've got an unbelievable support here in my coaching staff and they communicate very openly and we just lay all the cards on the table were very honest with the guys we let them know the truth and we can only hope that they take it the right way and they have so far and that they grow from baton.
