"Business it's all very simple operation restoring freedom would diminish together will restore the mid south six hundred W. R. E. C. ninety two point one FM that this morning news it is six sixteen we got a temperature of sixty four degrees it's absolutely wonderful outside now if you struggle with pollen you may discern may disagree with me there but thunderstorms moving in later this evening that'll help wash some of the the pollen away joining us now from Capitol Hill we say good morning to Rachel Sutherland Rachel thanks for joining me how are you I'm well how are you I'm doing I'm doing pretty well president trump back at it yesterday with the coronavirus task force and spoke on a variety of things of course I guess that second stimulus that second recovery of almost half a trillion dollars I guess getting ready to get doled out what is the latest from Capitol Hill we have the president did end up holding everything yesterday after it was done in the office and on again he came out talking about testing and working to expand testing throughout the state he said doubling capacity by next month it is through a partnership with the private sector so the lab cores and and quest diagnostics of the world and stepping up to help the president also said that the the administration for the one for state of the step up contact tracing the the focus on hot spot he also suggested that governors might wanna look at a potentially reopening schools and some some states that are it's hard hit so that also with the headline for this and I think just the overall tone of the bruising with a very different than saying last week in some of the others will resolve the really combative exchanges with reporters the prices seem to be more subdued he did talk about the loss of American life in in in in a way that he hasn't done before abdicating he believed that you know we're we're making great progress some of the other spiders name will wait I mean you promised testing before we didn't really see it but again looking to double that capacity by next month where these parties what was that these briefings or was there something else where he was at where president trump is almost the point well I'm just not gonna do these and then he just changed his mind I guess yes in the law that didn't surprise me very much but it Thursday's briefing about counselor was not didn't play out well just put it that way the talk of disinfectants incident on Friday he didn't take any questions the clock often and over the weekend it said that he did he got the briefings are a waste of time and then by Monday you respectively thanks now we don't know exactly what's going to happen everything's going forward but doctor Deborah Burke is on the corner of ours task force which is a box of friends saying that she thinks everything's are important that they are it's important for success for Americans to know that the federal government is doing all it came out all it can really Q. if deal this pandemic so I think that there is somebody you know got to present that you know you need to continue have having this briefing Rachel Sutherland joining us on Memphis morning news so other than I guess other than the corona virus briefings and it ends I I I guess that what's happening with that on the flip side I saw that Biden got an endorsement over the last couple of days from from the speaker yeah I don't think it is the policy doesn't do research Biden for president saying that eight that is the right person to lead the country out of this terrible situation the coronavirus appointing choose either ship with the U. S. starting this portable Kerr act in leading the country out of the Great Recession with president Obama it's open but this comes after it's not surprise really with policy that comes after you know the former president and endorsed that Joe Biden as well because you know that Joe Biden is facing some issues not the least of which is being pretty much as basement MSM that's in running for president from your basement I mean it's never been done before and I saw the picture of terror read it's not the same one from American pie the accuser exactly and and look at me with those allegations I've been doing a little research on them I don't feel lately read and to be able to discuss the concerns laid out but it is you know it is something that that's getting some coverage there's always a reticent in the media to just go with an allegation even when some of the surface about president trump and during his campaign there's there's you want to be cautious when allegations are turn around about a presidential candidate make sure they're fully believe that it's the question is our reporters willing or even able in the current virus pandemic to to that something like this but the allegations are out there certainly people are talking about in that Biden himself has not responded the campaign is that that they're not true so that's where that stands but at that point he is the presumptive nominee and we know that New York gets canceled its primary that they're gonna hold up much of the iris of Bernie Sanders because he was hopeless sure absolutely Hey Rachel thank you so much for joining us today have a great rest of your week Memphis morning news it is six twenty two let's take a look at those roads with heather York.

"Eight degrees this morning news time is seven thirty three and have been warned six hundred W. R. E. C. ninety two point one FM the I heart radio out joining us on Capitol Hill we say good morning to Rachel Sutherland Rachel thanks for joining me how are you I'm well how are you doing well well a couple days ago we spoke with our local congressman David Kustoff and he was talking about today would likely be the day that they do a vote regarding the next round of stimulus he says you know they may vote by proxy they may be in person what's what's the latest out of Washington DC well they are going to be a person today our house speaker Nancy Pelosi has shelved the idea of proxy voting for one member stands and for the other and instead that they're what they're gonna do they're gonna vote on this four hundred eighty four billion dollar relief package which topped off the small business program but they're going to be going in in small groups of about ten to twenty they'll go when they are sending is they'll be wearing personal protective gear they'll pass service and then they'll get out they'll go straight through the speakers a lot of the out of there and they're not supposed to hang around chatter do anything so it should be instant feedback on C. span our networks and you're saying okay how was this look like but they are changing the way it will but not the proxy idea that was tabled after Republicans pushed back saying look we ought to actually be at the capitol working during the crisis what's going to be in this bill I know that the the overall theme is more money for business recovery but what what what all is kind of stuck in there sure most of us going to the paycheck protection program about three hundred fifty billion dollars know that there is a about seventy five billion set aside for hospital twenty five billion for testing which made it in and they're already looking at the fourth wave the stimulus which may include more pay out the poor Americans in additional stimulus money maybe infrastructure things like that but the Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said let's let's just take a wait and see approach see how all this money is working that's already been passed before they start something new yeah Rachel Sutherland joining us on on Memphis morning news and then be I mean other than the stimulus is there anything else that's on the horizon that there that looks like that they're going to be working on or is this pretty much the talk of the town well there's also another builder going to maybe take a vote on today and that's the set up a select house committee could conduct oversight over the way all this money is being spent we've heard the stories about how big corporations were able to tap into that small business administration loan program that got a lot of people upset there could be some infighting on that Republicans may not like the idea of this oversight committee that is something that speaker policy is pushing so look for a possible vote on that day I think the big boat is obviously going to be on this really package and we would expect once the passes and we expect that it will it'll go straight to the president's desk for his signature that's going to be interesting to watch it's a big week up on Capitol Hill and we'll continue to follow that I'm sure is and as the vote becomes official I know well folks at the fox news radio's top and bottom of the hour might even be you follow those reports will look for to those throughout the day right always a pleasure thank you for giving us a few minutes of your time to let us know what's happening up at the capitol all right there's Rachel Sutherland Memphis morning news at the seven thirty seven and we have a temperature a temperature of fifty eight degrees and some scattered showers out there right now and expect that to continue for at least the first half of the day in other news let's talk about that president trump yesterday he had his corona virus task forces he press conference and yesterday he he I spoke on a few things and including the opening up of the state of Georgia by governor Brian Campion little bit of a disagreement he does address that in this montage here that we have for you from yesterday's coronavirus briefing do I agree with them no but I respect him and I will let him make his decision would I do that no I keep them a little longer I want to protect people's lives but I'm gonna let him make his decision but I told him I totally disagree guy says he was pushed out of a job maybe was maybe was and I do have to have the other side I don't know who he is we knew immediately that was going to be a problem and we're doing that hundred percent we're taking very special care for nursing homes add to our seniors other than me the FDA the NIH.

great guests technologies always at the top of the list and one of those things is cell phones but one drawback to cell phones at least as a parent I see is it's awfully hard to not waste time on cell phones and to limit the kids time on cell phones any good tips yeah absolutely so what I'd like to do is we'll start off in and let's talk a little bit about the good things and what they do for life so devices were made to assist us in everyday life in and not replace it not given the same example right here shortly and there are certain industries are on and and your industry is a very good example you you guys depend upon live updates you guys depended on getting information fast so that so that you can find that breaking news so and and then lastly in our business we're in the medical business and there's certain situations where we depend upon that cell phone because one call to be the difference and and wife doubts of being very uncomfortable for patients so there are good things but the issue like you said it is whatever it becomes addictive and so specifically what's going on there a lot of times it is you have people that that you know they they fall posting live updates and they get their sense of dopamine that that releases in the brain which that's that's kind of the reward system or the Arab for your brain it gives you that good feeling that I'm addicted the problem then becomes one and you know your kids talking to your needs and that was still played all hundred whatever you know Cologne son daughter I need to finish this political debate that I'm having somebody the other was about twenty years ago in college and I've talked to sent and so that's where it becomes an issue dusty hall joining us on Memphis morning news yeah that's that's three condemning ward you can tell a child just a minute first for it for sure not only that but I guess not not just from a social standpoint but also from a physical standpoint Hey this seems like their study after study that does not speak well of the damages that cell phones can do to your body yeah I mean you know a lot of that's not proven and it's hard to say and that's something that we've worked into a lot and and there could be some damage there but I think the religious issue is the most damage it can do is that what social isolate isolation which eventually arsenal are clear correlations yourself away from society but also makes the seventh and and we're not made to sit still human beings are not made to sit still all they were you when you come around when he you social and and so that that's another bigger issue and so what I want to do now if you don't mind I want to get rid of some of the advice that with your people cell phones right and and so they it what we tell people to do and that's something that I started by asking about a year year and a half ago was that the white church Bible study social settings what I do is I put a pocket full of business cards and not you know get apocryphal business because not only myself on the car because what I find is that there's really you know one of the most annoying things for me is when somebody's telling the story they give the punch line in the polar phone out to show me pictures of validated that section thirty seconds to a minute by that point you lost me and and I believe you I trust you you don't need to show me a picture or you know and then whenever somebody's in a social setting our dinner that took up the phone and get a look at something there's no why both date news what have you that's that's more important now that's not to say if your dinner and and you have a kid that the practice or something I mean yeah there are certain situations where that's important most the time you get really it's it's not that important and so we recommend that that they leave the cell phone number one and then the caller number two is that you know you take all the live updates off there's no again now your business is different you guys you guys the ten upon that but most people you don't need to know whatever sports straight took place you don't need to know when somebody comments on your Facebook post or you don't know need to know one breaking news happens and and you know I think the weather channel now or or iPhones they do that anyway they let you know whenever there's a few weather but other than that you don't need a lot of updates to walk out of them we take the outside of your phone and and so those are a few things and then lastly before you go to bed because two people tend to look at the phone before I go to that plug your phone in another room and give yourself a little alarm clock and then it's it's better that you don't spend time on your phone before you go to bed so those are those are three sense of isolation we give our patients that's pretty and those are all pretty easy things to do and they all don't cost a dime to do right well the alarm clock but I won't be there ten twenty Bucks but you're right yeah they don't cause and they may save you money on the subscriptions yeah that that's a very good point dusty hall it's been a pleasure thank you so much wish you a joyous holiday season and hopefully get to talk to get in twenty twenty one was shot you and your family and friends all the best anytime like western merry Christmas merry Christmas Memphis morning news seven forty your phone after that interview how well I thought I'd be appropriate since he was talking we had them with my battery was working well you're always work and that you're up at like five in the morning yeah former yeah it's a good line from the natural and yeah I live in harmony well if it hadn't been for should abandon the gets mixed in together well what I'll give credit though what I write what still song though it's all been done before even if you think it's new it's all been done history does repeat itself yeah sure certainly that's what we're going to talk about today in a few minutes how what what what what's on where I mean it's just you know it's it's Christmas and and I got to tell you the the markets this is a fantastic year I mean this is the stocks for the month of December are on their best December into it in the fourth quarter alone for six years you know all the soothsayers are saying this is going to roll right into two thousand twenty I mean the president is got a deal with China they're working out the details with the market stake in that consideration you know this time last year we were off thirty percent you know people right now are probably in a post on their capital gains because I don't have a lot of losses so everything's positive you know going into the first quarter there should be a lot of consolidation this is a time of year when you get a lot of mergers are trying to get him down by year end but all in all it's just it's been a fantastic year I mean the SNP's up twenty eight percent this year you know that's like historically that's three years returns in twelve months since in a couple of banks merged here to even some local ones of have merged so yeah it's been a pretty big year we'll we're gonna put a pin in that will come back to that in a few minutes with how they only with your money Monday forty seven degrees getting up to around sixty later today it's seven forty two let's take a look those roads of having your the morning right now in the left lane blocked out west found forty year wait ready expected to lay out there that's westbound forty year women road south of a crash working on Quinn's.

"Hundred W. R. E. C. I. ninety two point one FM hi welcome back it is the best for your sin shall be destroyed is we are chatting it right now Alice if he's right there waiting this article impeachment vote to take place Democrats extended the debate hi instead of wrapping it up to the top the hour family of trying to get more into prime time in middle and west coast I get closer and closer because again there you know what's kicks other thing all right will extend this and try to make our final our argument there is a daily beast article which is no fan the present that just came out saying quote them's fantasy paid Senate GOP won't rescue them on impeachment this is store going Peterman has representatives has become a foregone conclusion all but a few Democrats most likely joined by zero Republicans will vote to impeach president trump for time house Democrats have the vote in the GOP controlled Senate would not be a foregone conclusion in the president's favor there was some optimism that moderate Republicans might vote to convict trump after a trial perhaps not in the numbers required to remove them at least enough to render him damaged goods and have bipartisan judgment condemning the president's action but those hopes take a hit in the past week and now those same Democrats are trying to figure out ways to cope with a cold bitter January I've disappointment as recently as last week some house Democrats were still fear theorizing how the GOP Majority Leader senator Mitch McConnell could be pressured by moderate members of this conference to conduct a longer trial in the Senate opening up the possibility of a new game changing document that could come Forder testimony that might get things back on track but as the Senate begins preparing in earnest for a January impeachment trial the hope has collapsed among Democrats as the president McConnell another key Republicans have made sure that they have all agreed on the idea of a short trial that would feature no new witnesses not only that the GOP leader has dismissed the notion that senators are impartial jurors calling the trial a quote political process and openly talking about coordinating the chambers proceedings with the White House for the house Democrats have where the impeachment investigation for months it's been a deflating predictable turn of events as they slowly realize impeachment trial as well increasingly unlikely to yield any kind of surprise our eleventh hour bomb shell that they have been hoping for in preparation now for the disappointment some top democratic lawmakers already down playing the role of the Senate will play quote at the end of the day the most important jury will not be Mitch McConnell Lindsey Graham in the Republican controlled Senate it will be the American people that is what represented became Jeffries said he's the fourth ranking house Democrats today for the for the house other Democrats Mike Tom not not only counts get a Democrat from New Jersey challenge the notion that the Senate trial is a zero sum game quote the choices and it isn't a binary between acquittal in removal what is important is the message also we sent to the American people and a future presidents about the legitimacy of this conduct the nature of the vote in the Senate will also send the message it is completely on party lines will majority of centers right to convict we don't know how the country feels about the whole thing the day after is not something we can predict sure you can look at the polls right now they're saying what you're doing is stupid party send and it's an attempted coup and people don't like it but whatever hope Democrats have for a shifting Senate trial rests on the possibility that witnesses could be called a prospect that looks increasingly slam as the Senate leaders begin bickering about the process of determining the ground rules for an impeachment trial on Sunday the democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer send a letter to McConnell ask him to call for witnesses in the trial he would not testify in the house because of a blanket White House ban on cooperating with the enquiring Jim rasta McConnell issue subpoenas for testimony from the acting White House your staff Mick Mulvaney former national security adviser John Bolton and to move any subordinates Robert player Michael Duffy he also asked for subpoenas for a limited set of documents guess what McConnell responded by roundly dismissing Schumer's calls saying quote this Senate is meant to act as judge and jury to hear a trial not to rerun the entire fact finding investigation of the Democrats and the things they didn't do when they have the ability to do it on the house side I leave it there with that but that some of the latest breaking news the Democrats are set for quote total disappointment five three five nine seven three two five three five nine seven three two.
