'The View' Host Claims Biden Is Being Treated Like a Black President

"Again, everything, everything, everything is about race. And listen to ABC's the view and sunny hostin, and the nonsense she spewed. About Republicans and our relationship with grandpa Joe. But the infrastructure Bill, I think, was a leaning into white independence. And I think it was a leaning into white moderates. But the bottom line is those aren't the folks that really took him over the finish line. Those aren't, that's not the democratic base. No, democratic president has made it into The White House without the support of the black community. The black community now, voters 50 and over that are registered. There's been a 36 point drop, and then that approval. And what I took away was he said something like I had no idea that my Republican friends would do this. Well, he's governing like it's the 1990s. It's 2022. He sat for 8 years next to a black president, you didn't think he'd be treated like one. And that's what he's being treated like. Did you hear that? Because he once said my Republican Friends, the black community is turning on Biden, according to a black woman like sunny hostin. And according to Sonny hostin, Biden is being treated like a black president. I mean, honest to goodness, you just, you just have to pity these

The Left Defends Sotomayor's COVID Misinformation

"This week, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor literally said on the bench of the Supreme Court, we've got a 100,000 children in hospitals with COVID, many of them on ventilators. And the whole world laughed at her because that's a lie. That's what they used to call COVID misinformation. I guess if you're a Supreme Court Justice, you can lie and get away with it. I guess if you're a radical wise Latina activist Supreme Court judge, you're allowed to say things like that. Where's her apology, by the way? We don't have a 100,000 kids in the hospital with COVID. We don't have kids on ventilators. The fraction of kids like 0.000001%. She lied. Do you know that the left is defending her? Here's cut 7. Listen to sunny hostin, one of the big mouths on ABC TV's the view defending Sonia Sotomayor's COVID misinformation. Well, first I just want to reframe this a little bit about justice Sotomayor because while she may not be accurate for current hospitalizations in children, she is correct that we have more children in the hospital now more than ever before. And it certainly reflects the current cases in children. Right now we have 82,843 children sick with COVID, more than a thousand children have died from the virus. And in addition, about 7.8 million children have caught COVID since the pandemic started. And so those are just the numbers. And so while fewer than 83,000 kids have been hospitalized with the virus, we have kids sick with COVID more than we ever have before. And so that's a real thing and those are real numbers. Can you believe that that woman makes probably 7 or 800,000? Maybe a $1 million a year to have a show on national TV and defend the

Ana Navarro of 'The View' Says Donald Trump 'Not Legitimately' Elected in 2016

"Here's cut two. Here is the boy this doozy and a Navarro on ABC TV's the view. And I really blame Republicans at the top for capitulating to Trump. I blame Trump for continuing this environment of lies and conspiracy theories and not accepting that he lost and encouraging and promoting what happened. The big lie and what happened on January 6th. He bears responsibility. And it's not just me saying this, it was Kevin McCarthy, saying this on January 6th. Let me read to you what he said. Kevin McCarthy. The precedent bears responsibility for Wednesday's attacks on Congress by mob rioters. Mark carthy said on the House floor. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding. These facts require immediate action by president Trump. Now just days later, that same Kevin McCarthy was at Mar-a-Lago kissing Trump's ring. And we've seen Republican after Republican who on January 6th was shocked and calling for investigation and for truth and for reaction and action from Trump, we've seen them bow down to Trump because they want to stay elected. And because they're putting their own positions over democracy and over defending the U.S. institution of a legitimate election. Look, I felt I felt that Donald Trump had not been legitimately elected. I thought he got help from the Russians. But you know what? It would have never occurred to me to take up arms. Against Donald Trump. Can you guys go back and play that 'cause I'm sorry I laughed over this moron saying I didn't think Trump was legitimately elected and she was aided by the Russians. You just heard, that was not edited. While she's ranting and raving about Republicans who doubt the veracity of the election, right? Fauci Says U.S. Should Consider Vaccine Mandate for Domestic Air Travel

"In the Paris yesterday on ABC's this week, co anchor Jonathan Karl asked doctor Anthony Fauci, if he agreed with President Biden, who said in a recent interview that his team said vaccine man today, mandates for domestic air travel isn't necessary at this time and cut number three Fauci said anything that could get people vaccinated would be welcome. There shouldn't be a vaccine requirement for domestic air travel. Well, it depends on what you want to use it for. I mean, vaccine requirements for people coming in from other countries is to prevent newly infected people from getting into the country. A vaccine requirement for person getting on the plane is just another level of getting people to have a mechanism that would spur them to get vaccinated. Namely, you can't get on a plane unless you're vaccinated, which is just another one of the ways of getting requirements, whatever that might be. So I mean, anything that could get people more vaccinated would be welcome. Now, Fauci continued to reiterate that wearing masks on airplanes is still a good idea despite the fact that CEOs recently said that they're not necessary due to the sufficient air filtration systems inside the aircraft cabin.

Oregon Dad Under Fire for 'Let's Go Brandon' Christmas Call with Joe Biden

"Meet upon its also spent much of the Christmas weekend, berating a father who yelled let's go Brandon when he was on the phone with president Joe Biden on Christmas Eve now. This also is part of the norad Santa tracker. Where the president and in this case First Lady Jill Biden took part in the Santa tracker with the norad. And the president will take selected phone calls. And we'll talk with young children around the country. Talking with them about the status of Santa, where Santa is. In this particular phone conversation, though, towards the end of the conversation, this father said let's go Brandon. Well, evidently, Joe Biden didn't too much care. Care whether he said it or not, he kind of laughed it off. But the left and the media have had a fill day with this. Now, we all know what the phrase let's go Brandon means. What it signifies and is not a compliment to Joe Biden. Main Street media journalist have, in some cases, called this phrase vulgar, vitriol, some have gone as far as to compare people who say, let's go Brandon with ISIS sympathizers. Jared smuck is the I'm sorry, smack, Jared smack, some might say that he's a smock. Jared smack is the father. He's a former Oregon police officer, and he said that he simply was just joking with the president. He said it in a joking manner. And again, Joe Biden didn't seem to take offense to it. Some outlets, however, appeared to disagree, for example, NBC. Their headline parent uses right-wing slur during Biden call with norad Santa tracker. ABC says father uses vulgar insult during holiday call with president Joe Biden. And the list goes

Progressives Prod Biden to Act on Own After Manchin’s Roadblock

"Joe Biden yesterday sat down with ABC's David Muir. Spoke about a number of issues that we're facing as we wrap up 2021. And it's a given that Biden hasn't had a very good year. I think we all can agree on that. Last week, it got worse when Joe Manchin, of course, said he was a no vote. On the bill that better plan, yet the progressives are pressing President Biden to take executive action. The progressives yesterday issued a statement. Suggesting that the president doesn't need Congress to pass his massive spending bill, that he can do it by executive order. And cut number 9 yesterday, President Biden talks with David murron ABC. About the idea that he thinks that once the American people understand what's in the Bill, they'll come around. Cut number 9. You've met with senator Joe Manchin, a number of times. You've invited him to your home in Delaware. He came to The White House a week ago. Benny's on Sunday morning cable and says, I'm a no. How does that happen? How are you not able to close the deal? Well, look, let's talk about what we have done. We have passed more major legislation than anybody in their first year ever, ever, ever, ever. I'm a guy we give up on this. I haven't given up on it. But senator Manchin's main sticking point, it would appear is that the child tax credit are you willing to take that out if it means bringing him on board? Well, look, I want to get as much as I can possibly get done. As much as we can possibly have done, I still think we'll be able to get a significant amount of what we need to get done done. Particularly as the American people figure out what is in this legislation. Well, don't you think that's part of the problem? Joe Biden on At-Home COVID Testing: 'Nothing's Been Good Enough'

"Back to this interview with ABC's David Muir, Muir asked the president if he had failed with his fight in COVID. Since we're going into another Christmas, very similar to last year's Christmas, where we're starting to see things canceled. The Biden administration, Doctor Fauci himself saying, hey, look, if your family's not backsliding, don't gather. There's questions as far as travel. In cut number ten, they talk about this. And the question is, what the Biden administration, what you've been able to do, mister president, has it been good enough? Got number ten. But three days before Christmas, if you look out across the country, you see it everywhere. These long lines, people waiting for hours outside in the cold, just to get tested to be reassured before they spend time with their family. I saw it in Washington today coming to The White House. If you go to the pharmacy, we hear this over and over again, empty shelves, no test kits. Is that a failure? No, I don't think it's a failure. I think you could argue that we should have known a year ago, 6 months ago, two months ago, a month ago. I've ordered half a billion of the pills. 500 million pills. I'm excuse me, 500 million test kits that are going to be available to be sent to every home in America if anybody wants them. But the answer is, yeah, I wish I had thought about ordering a half billion pills two months ago before COVID hit here. But we're nearly two years into this pandemic, you're a year into the presidency, empty shelves and no test kits in some places, three days before Christmas when it's so important. Is that good enough? No, nothing's been good enough. But look, where we are. When last Christmas, we're in a situation where we had significantly fewer vaccinated people vaccinated, emergency rooms were filled. Well, mister president, yes. I would have to agree with you on that. For once, there's something you and I agree on nothing has been

Joe Biden Sits Down With ABC's David Muir for Lackluster Interview

"Biden sat down with ABC's David Muir yesterday to talk about a myriad of various topics. You know, Biden has promised to sit down with reporters on a more frequent basis, as he's come under a lot of criticism for not being out front for not being willing to sit down with members of the media and ask her questions. Yesterday I spoke about issues that our nation is facing about things that have come about just in the last few weeks, particularly the Biden response to this new omicron variant of the COVID virus. Biden has not had a good year to say the least. Just last week he was dealt a pretty big blow when Joe Manchin announced he would not be supporting Bill back better. This was a key piece of legislation for Joe Biden. In stalking with David Mary yesterday, that of course came up, David Muir was very pointed and asked the president if he was disappointed and to explain. Why he was not able to sell a member of his own party, Joe Manchin, on the ideal build back better. Why this was not important for the American people. And cut number 9 a Biden says, hey, it's not over yet. He seemed optimistic that there was still hope that he could bring Joe Manchin around, got number 9. You've met with senator Joe Manchin, a number of times. He invited him to your home in Delaware. He came to The White House a week ago. Then he's on Sunday morning cable and says, I'm a no. "Dude. Sadly it's mostly dudes who act as the puppeteer of the fund picking. What's in it. A spend a lot of time researching the perfect mortgage board of offerings. But it's all a lot of hot air once you dig into the data. Today's listener is looking into a mutual fund. That made promises a very high returns. Now i would take an extra close look at how they are crunching those numbers ten to eighteen percent. That's a lot so don't shy away from asking a ton of questions about what that actually means asking for clarification doesn't mean you're helpless in fact it's the lifeline that will protect you from finance bros. Who don't have your best interest heart. But i do if you do all the research though and you decide to go with a mutual fund. I'd make sure you're taking into account taxes. Every quarter mutual funds pay dividends that are taxed at the end of the year since mutual funds are designed to set it up and forget it. My suggestion is to keep these long term dividend paying investments growing inside tax deferred accounts like a 401k. An ira a defined benefit plan an annuity and so on so that you're letting them compound in tax free environment or a future tax free environment in the case of roths to minimize the blow for today's tip. You can take straight to. The bank. Wants your cd has matured diversified that money re up on a new cd and that's your safe investment but then play around with something that has a little higher risk and reward like index funds. Now i know you mentioned there is a two hundred fifty dollar fee. That's an initial fee. Which is a really esteemed fee. Still i would just make sure that is the only feed. You're going to incur. My guess is that it's not. I don't wanna completely knock mutual funds if you're choosing between a mutual fund and putting your money under a mattress i would go with the mutual fund every day and twice on sunday. But if you're choosing between a mutual fund and another kind of sophisticated investment. I would take a super close look at the types of fees that are involved in both. They might look really small right now but the more money you put in that is much more money in fees money. Rehab is a production of iheartmedia. i'm your host nicole. Stop and should. I have a one cake on your money will charge for wasting our time. I will take a check. You recognize her from anchoring on cnn cnbc and bloomberg the only financial expert. You don't need a dictionary to understand the cold lapin. I am pumped to dig into today's listener question because it deals with two really important topics that we haven't gotten to cover yet in our one hundred plus episodes of the best podcast in all the land. That is this one of course today. We're talking about cds and mutual funds. And i'll let today's money. Rehab are taken away nicole. I have a cd right now. It's about three point five percent. Ap y and it's about expire and unfortunately that raise no longer available. And i really considering rolling that money to a mutual fund. What are your thoughts on. Mutual funds the mutual fund. That i am considering is with my credit union. There's a five thousand dollar minimum and a five percent fee. Every time i make a deposit so for my very first deposit. I will lose two hundred fifty dollars. The return rate is supposed to be really good the average return rate for this particular mutual findings about ten to eighteen percent for the first year. So i just wanted to know. What are your thoughts. Do you think it's worth me rolling my money into a mutual finder. Do you think. I should just set up another cd before we dig into an answer. Let's give a little background to those listeners. Who haven't had to think about cds since the first generation ipod came out soon. No we're not talking about those. Cd's we're talking about certificates of deposit. Certificates of deposit are investment vehicles. Where you lock up your money for a certain period of time. Maybe it's three months six months nine twelve months or years even up to ten years you pinky swear that you won't touch the money at all and in exchange you got a slightly better rate than other savings vehicles when you go to take it out and the longer you leave your money in a cd the more interest you get now if you break that pinky promise or if you take the money out earlier than the maturity date you'll face a penalty. Many cd's will charge a penalty of six months interest. If you take your money out early so while these are great ways to make some extra money you need to be able to handle an emergency without solely relying on those funds. There are liquid or no penalty cds out there that will not penalize you for early withdrawal but they also come with a lower rate of return while cds are typically considered pretty straightforward investments. There are three interesting flavors to consider number one market linked cds. This of cd tracks the market. So you don't have a fixed rate of return. If the market goes up you could make more than you would with a conventional cd but if the market goes down you won't market linked cds have longer terms think years instead of months and even higher penalties. If you take the money out early meaning that once you stash your cash in there. It's going to be tied up for a while. They are also taxed at higher rates than regular cds. Plus you have to declare interest each year of the term not at maturity so you may be paying tax before you even take money out of them still if you want. Some market exposure without the risk of losing your initial investment market linked. Cds might be a good option for you number. Two brokered cds. These are offered by some broker. Middle man or middle woman who buys cds in bulk for sweet rates and then sells them to institutions and individual investors. These can be bought or sold on a secondary market before their maturity date but the rules are much more complicated. So if you wanna go. This route definitely discuss it with your financial adviser. I number three jim. Those cds these require at least a hundred thousand dollars as an initial deposit but offer a much higher rate of return dream. Big folks one word of caution. Some cd's go into auto renewal mode automatically signing you up for another cd when the term is over. Luckily you already know the best way to avoid that pitfall of for set up a calendar reminder for the day before your cd term ends to withdraw your money or re up the term on your terms. How do i feel about cds. Generally well just like. I wouldn't put one hundred percent of your emergency fund in a high yield savings account. I wouldn't put all of it in a cd either but they are a good option for keeping your principle safe while giving you some additional bang for your buck now. Let's talk about the other option. Our money reliever is considering mutual funds. A mutual fund is kind of what it sounds like. It's a company that pools money in from investors and then invested in hodgepodge of things like stocks and bonds. And so on. There's a lot of hype around mutual funds right now but like today's money. Rehab are mentioned. There are fees boy. Oh boy there are. Fees mutual fund fees are a special breed of fees. Folks they are higher than most other vehicles now it would be one thing if mutual funds were the best investment on the planet. Maybe then i wouldn't need to specifically shame them or maybe just maybe then their fees would be worth it but unfortunately they are not and far from it. Nearly all ninety. Six percent of actively managed mutual funds. Don't beat the market. That's right these are the ones that are rated on morning star the most popular service for evaluating mutual funds on morningstar. You can read all about the track record of the.

"Like me feels from at astner breaking out a santa suit to getting a full Intro we're seeing this christmas parade. Santa claus is coming to town playing over top of it. It's just all working for me. I loved all of that. And so i just like this is awesome and so that whole thing feels weirdly enough. My field is the very last scene in the movie. And it's purely because of ed asner. The movie ends with him. What i believe is directing a prison choir. Still still in his santa out. He got straight to work. He got there was like i'm not changing and now he's he's you know. Full conducting hark the herald. Angels sing and it is just absurdist but then the camera goes to his face and it is just the face of a changed man like. I don't know how to describe that. But the performance giving he's all in that he is a different guy now and he didn't care that he's in prison and it was wonderful. It was a wonderful performance. And i was like man. This was that. That's really good as weird as that seen as so. Yeah that's that's the that's the challenge of playing scrooge eighty percent of the movie being like and then at the end you have to just be exploding with joy and not all actors neil that pivot but i would love to see ed asner totally do yeah she would crush it. I would love that There's not enough there's not. There's not enough Christmas carols out there. Let's do one more man Let's take one more quick break. "What is it about you or your current situation that that thing you're hanging onto readily explains the what is it about you and your current situation that that thing you're hanging onto readily explain what's so you really have deal with yourself first when it comes to let something go you confront year then you confront damage your doing both to yourself in terms of your experience yourself in the quality of your life and the damage this is doing to others including by the way maybe even the person who you feel as if the don't want to let us go over but also the people in your life who watch you who around you to have to share life with you as you indulge whatever as you're failing to let go see whether you think they notice or not they get to live with the impact of what you're holding onto the people in your life live with the impact of what you're holding onto they have to live with that maybe your partner your parents your workmates. Your friends your children. Yob any fucking cat has to live with what you're hanging onto and not tight little fucking grip that you've got on it and that you won't let go so when people say i can't let go. Oh yeah you can fuck and laco and you will let go in a heartbeat. The minute iga present to the foot and carnage of your persistence. Much easier to let go then like this is not good for me. It's not good for me and it's not good from fucking cat then you start to get a sense of like what you've been doing ourself and what you've been doing your life and by the way whatever that thing is it could be something that you feel as if you would've victim to something the you were wrong. That's why i get that. And i'm not diminishing your pain i'm just pointing tear insistence. You should be hanging onto. It doesn't diminish your pain when i say everybody's had pain as not meant to trivial is yours. The only thing that does is just make you realize that. Yeah it's fucking hard being a human pm salata shit to deal with when you're a human being and in that regard you're not any different because like i said it can be fucking hard levin ness life you owe it to yourself you owe it to the people you share life and your pets you our to your future to deal with.

"I think but either for her better for her. Yeah it's better for her to be with her kind and for the white folks to go with that. I don't know what you do with that information because it is it's problematic. Say to say the design. The lid was problematic to make a ninety nine percents of the people in the snow globe. White yes it was the pro. It was a mistake but she like she comment upon a or do that. I i just think there's not a lot of lessons learned and then the chemistry while there isn't there lot. There's not many scenes together and then you've got an annoying italian family. And i just i don't know it was it wasn't good. It was kinda insufferable in all honesty. And i hate. I hate that. Because you love it. And i hate that. You like watching me watch it i did. Of course of course. I did But it doesn't it doesn't really hold up. I mean you would even say share. Even say it blows. But he wouldn't even say. Listen but i wanna make it. Clear like love christina. Milian wish us in a movie every year big fan. What one of my favorites in all honesty. So there's that but not good not good. don't watch it's a don't buy from day. But i mean she's been this. She's been in christmas like wet following falling in love and love. She's she's good and that and then that flex next netflix. Yeah but when when in the movie's not good it's not her fault is what i'm saying like. I think she's is like made for this. I think she does a good job with it. She super durable wonderful. You were made for this track for stephen. Yeah this right here. It is great because she's cuban in real life and she gets to be a part of a mixed italian family. And i did get a fun. I get kicked out. I think his name is ron canada. Actually who plays the dad. Ron antonio merano and he he was having a ball getting to play something completely different to the normal like gravitas. Inducing speech giving guy that he is movies. He's doing this italian. Like don bit and he is having a lot of fun. Lorraine bracco i did. You did. Not as good not as good. I gotta be honest aside from the sopranos. I don't know much that she's been in in. The supreme is so incredibly iconic go ahead. Little movie called goodfellas dan. Oh my gosh yes in goodfellas. I'm really sorry da. Dan bell is right. Oh but in this movie it just is like not not great so yeah not good brand. Okay it's got all the field would take christmas. Keep it over this movie. He said it right here. You heard it here first. You're not necessarily wrong along with me on that. What are you clearly. Sign onto that man. That hurt my time like. It's time for all the fields that that did not get them to me. We're talking about one this. We gave us those fields. Could be christmas. Or the like alonzo i will. I will piggy piggy back on dancing. Yes christina milian super charming. She does like carry this kind of thing off really well and i really admire matt. Kiesler is commitment to the bill. Douglas who he's been waiting for guffman apparently left acting entirely and is now like a medical professional in oregon pedia pay but he but in the a good run there in the nineties on the us and he is doing the you know like complete and completely knife. He's doing the alphabet the the the what new york city. I'd have never seen any of this stuff before but He's even doing in the snow globe though which is funny. And it's just it's it's a. He's fun to watch. And i and i liked her. I don't you're right. She and her romantic lead. Get so little time together. Apart from that one eggnog. Seeing that liked it all feels very rushed at the end But that's kind of. It feels when she enters snuggle. For the first time i i love i love it. She realizes how terrible that places and you love the snuggle up. I love the winter wonderland that is just globe like i. of course i love. I wouldn't being there for a long period of time because it's not real weird place. I'm surprised she made as long as she did like. It is a weird place. It is a horror movie but looking at it when you first walk into it. It's awesome you've never wanted to walk into a snow globe. Now sounds like claustrophobic. I don't know it's a no for me but would you want to drive into hallmarks evergreen. Read going i was gonna say evergreen what you always compare to this. Evergreen would be a cool town to visit. And that's what i'm saying. It doesn't it feels a little bit more expansive. The snow globe does no good feels like one. It feels like But also christmas on the square. That's what that's what it feels like only but note that initially. She doesn't know that it is a snow like magin going into a snow globe without knowing snow globe though the beauty that is a snow globe you get to experience that would depend on the situation. I feel like i. i can't win with you. i can't win with us to be a third friday december. Like what do you mean it depends. I wake up and don't know where i am. The beauty of snow globe would be lost by through my terror of not knowing where i am is not lying. The witch and the wardrobe. But you don't just go in there and be like. Oh i've found this cool place like you don't know where you are. Saudi told me. I was walking in no snow globe. And just got to visit your such upper-crust you're such an upper-crust. I am what i am chris. That means giving christmas cupid and to what into it alonzo saying i. I loved him in the mall. The i didn't think doing the escalator bit you. You didn't need to do that. Like fell fell years outright. Yeah alpha's not like it. Yeah but there's a lot of bits that are funny within the mall. Like him running around the christmas tree from the cop and there's lots of funny bits that he does. I didn't think to ask later. Scene was needed to seal the deal there. I don't know how they did it but overall funny bits and i i just urine. Upper-crust goes i as an upper-crust will tell you that. I agree with lonzo. So he must be one as well mcleod or matt kiesler doing the bit the whole movie long and selling it and being in on it and still asking about a shovel and having the shovel in the snow globe is great. It's a it's funny. It's a funny bit. It works really well. You know him literally knowing raids seeing yes. The christmas tree charades scene is a great really really funny scene of television where he starts to do it. They're like okay. It's my And then he gets his christmas tree right after. That was a funny scene. Also laughed at eddie trying to figure out the hip. How say hippopotamus. It's a hippo hippo. What we're going for Let's take one more break. We'll come back. We'll do wait. What's i guess if we have to everybody. Gosh.

Everybody very excited by this movie down. We're going to deal with four seconds. I we're gonna take a quick break. What for shagman management's you got and i think i think we're gonna have a good time. Do you think we're we just Will be right back here on the hallmark. Do we have a new. It's a new. Just yes or just tracy finally get a day off. Listen she she has the days lee loser loser loser. We're losing more use them either way. We're talking snow globe dan. Yeah we Abc family mega hits. The original million on the original. The oh gee Alonzo i want to start with you. I want to start with the hot tag where we share exactly how he felt about this movie. What did he think of snow globe. He said last week had never seen it before. Now that you have. Are you happy you did. I ask when we talked about the first christmas print. So and i said it was. It was weird to go back and see it again. Having seen all the movies that borrows from royal christmas. And what not. This is kind of a reverse where you've seen other movies. Take this situation and deal do it. Where the person finds themselves inside this sort of idyllic. You know christmas display kind of christmas. Christmas movie christmas Christmas perfection the other christina milian snow globe movie like. I've seen this bit now done a few times and this movie's really frustrating. Because i think it's close to being funny or dark or incite or weird all these ways and it doesn't do any of those things like it backs up from all of these like unto logical issues that people finding out they live in a snow globe or what happens when people who live in this sort of repetitive idealized world. Discover what sex is or is there some point to the fact that this idealized perfect christmas as it is presented to consumers is all white people and christina. Not none of this ever comment that upon until there's a much more interesting than sitting right there that nobody felt like making And so what we're left with is just kind of an average e christmas movie that i didn't super love there you have. I hear what you're saying. And i disagree with all of that i love is this should comes to nose Like no surprise surprise. I loved this movie. Now i want you to keep in mind. I saw this movie when it came out as a fifteen year. Old four years i was fifteen and this is just. This is just perfect. So i mean gateway drug. This was a huge gateway drug and i just absolutely loved. I love the snow globe. I mean the the bit of him of douglas being in the real worlds They ran with that throughout his journey. And i love that. There were some very clear things that they took directly from. Elf like just ripped it out which is impressive. Yeah but overall i just absolutely loved this movie and i i'm not i'm not even ashamed of it. You should be ashamed of it brings. You shouldn't be because this movie garbage. I did chuckle a few times like actual laugh at this movie. One and two christina millions adorable. I think she's great. I'm a big fan of hers. This movie's terrible. It is shocking that she does not like spending christmas in a small town with all white. People it's crazy that she comes to realize maybe that's not the best thing in the world but the stereotypes abound in this movie. There's a lot of great italian ones in there to throw out there for you as well. They do run with bits. Two alonzo's point like do they try to make like a pleasantville or something. No of course not do they try to make any movie. That could be more interesting. No but they're trying to make christmas movie for tv and at that low bar. They still don't succeed. I just. I didn't like i thought it was long and i just thought it was not interesting The the the if they're supposed to fall in love they don't get enough time together. I didn't like that aspect of it either. I thought the snow globe aspect of it was weird like i understand. She realizing that she's in her own. Snow glove and heard snow globe is better than their.

"Are not that tire. I love my gator skins. I know a lot of people will give me crap for that that it's not a very supple tire. Come ride and south western. Pa with your cotton tires. And i'll be way in front of you while i'm waiting while you're fixing all the flats that you've got but tire levers are in assessing. I mean i. I recommend to. I know some people only carry one. Oh andrews that's living on the edge i think you need to It makes the job just that much. Easier yeah Everything that i had last night. That wasn't complete. Was a tire patch kit and i had. I had all this stuff to to patch an inner tube. If we had run out of inner tubes. But i didn't the one thing that's missing is a is a what they call a boot which is a basically a business card size sticker that would would go on the inside of a of a rip tire so that the when you inflate the innertube underneath the innertube doesn't poke out through the the whole in the in the cut tire a dollar bill also works in. It doesn't have to be a dollar. I mean maybe maybe some of our listeners carry hundreds all and one hundred dollar. Bill works just as well as a single saying. Just don't forget that the hundred dollar bill was your boot. Yeah exactly the other thing for me is is. This isn't for everybody. But if you're if you're running deeper rim tire wheels make sure. You have a valve extender and you know. The the mayor has deeper section rooms on his Then jr and i was out on a ride with him and he had a replacement innertube but he didn't have a long enough vow Stem to get through the deep dish wheels and Usually he has like the whatever the six year eighty mill stems. But he didn't any forgot the throw his his valve extender. And so i forget who the third guy wasn't the ride with us that we we we medic at the mayor's house and riding in the mayor had to call his wife to come pick him up and we've back to his house so valve extenders certainly important to have an and the reason it's important.

"The funny part is that was actually on that. That was weird. It was weird. There are a lot of hot and cold zones on that ride. But the one thing i do like about them is they come with a warranty lifetime breakage warranty on the frame and the lenses so in case you yard sale in case a yard sale me being me. I had the opportunity on what you mean by that. Is you being not being able to say no to stupid ideas that pop into your head. No i like to think of is pushing the boundaries of what i'm capable of but mainly like like attempting the the single-track bridge on your twenty-eight see tires did i do it. Yes i think. I did ended a yard sale. I did not know but your close is real close but Yeah warranty support is is kind of amazing for being a twenty six dollar pair of sunglasses as quite shocked so i got a scratch on the one lens and that wasn't a big deal. I just walked out the lens. I didn't really care but the nose piece That you pull down to change out. The lenses started to break after about a year and a half Which you know is pretty good. So i sent them an email. They said okay. We'll send you a new pair which is needed copier receipt and. They sent me a brand new pair. And you know they've been fine ever since but It's one of those things that it's the little things like that that i really appreciate in a company especially a company. That is selling sunglasses for twenty. Six dollars on amazon will win sets with them for for different conditions. That's that's important to me and especially having a polarized said as well A lot. I don't know i know nick. You have polarized glasses. I think right. I have a mixing and matching. I'll get into that in a second but Yeah polarized lenses for certain for certain light. Conditions are almost a necessity. Yeah exactly but i you know for the for those rainy rides or the night rides having the yellow lens as just unbeatable. But i'd say for the price If you're looking into something that's relatively inexpensive because you don't want to invest all that much but you still want a decent quality product. I would highly suggest these best. Crappiest pair sunglasses have overhead. And they're not even crappy. They're good. they're nice. You've had some good use out of them and many more years to come. I think oh yeah So on a similar vein My reviews not on glasses specifically But the lenses. So i don't know if i've mentioned on the podcast before but for a time in my life i was a a a country club. Golf professional inside have multiple sets oakley's just sitting around eventually all lens. Lenses will get scratched scratches and worn out and need replacing in obviously oakley. Does a a great has a product. You're gonna pay for the oakland name. Oh yeah i had these. Let these glasses sitting around thinking. Well she why. Don't i just get new lenses for him and i'll just turn them into my cycling glasses. And so a buddy of mine put me onto revenge optics and They're they're real. We affordable replacement lenses for a large number of sunglass brands. I mean obviously. They've got they've the big names. They've got You know oakley got cost a rayban. They've got brands. "Vehicle comes to either give you a new bike or a new tire We're starting to see some more To bliss tires in the pro peleton but tubular are still kind of the tire of choice. For those guys. You wanna do this next one. Because i'll mess up pronunciation on it. Sure so you as for uci or it's union cyclist international or the governing body for cycling also known as the fun police they get they get a deserved bad rap for taking a lot of the fun out of the pro cycling and the big controversy recently. Is the banning up kite. Yeah that one's definitely stupid one but the one they're getting away for right now is banning of the supertuck position which is where. When you're descending basically sit on top tube of the bike instead of the saddle they get yourself more aero dynamic and also banning the quote unquote invisible t t bars which is where you rest your forearms on the the the flat partly drop bars. Yeah you didn't. I love doing that. Well don't raise it any. Uci races and good thing. I'm not that good. The is for velodrome. Velu jerome over banked track where track racing is done. Basically yeah i we have a velodrome nearest but i wish we had an indoor one. I'd love to ride the boards. I've never done that but it looks awesome. Ours is concrete. And there's a small bump in the middle of the one straight which is kinda weird. It's like a pump track. Almost yeah. I did learn this recently though availow french for tricycle which i think is hilarious that there's a lot of like b. c cycling brands that are Vallejo derived. But i'm like i mean it's tricycle. Anyhow that is kinda funny moon. Onto w w is for what tara. Not what but watch. What the unit of power measurement in cycling You may have heard watch per kilogram as a as a metric. That a lot of cyclist. Let's talk about the. Why is the power unit of that ratio. I wasn't able to find a cycling word for extra if you have one drop it in the comments. I'd love to see if anybody has when i looked searched long and hard and even the other lists that i was looking through. Didn't have an if you have an ex. Police drop it in the comments section..

You couldn't say that group sets knee it's a crappy groups that anyhow. No it's not know. Musette is a bag filled with food drinks and energy jails or anything else of a consumable sort of back watch. Yeah it's a it's a feedback. Basically if you watch you know any of the pro racing when the when the guys who have girls go through a feed zone you know that that's what the swan years handing the the writers pro terms man. Nobody knows swan. We'll get to prove pro lingo later on But ns for neo pro. And this is actually one. I didn't know when i was looking up things to add to this alphabet in a neo pro rookie rider in the professional ranks. A rider in their first year of the professional ranks. That was one. I didn't know yeah. I was shocked so you have one and now i have one which is oh for on the rivet. I had no. I just hammered twenty. That you of all people didn't know this one on the rivet a lot. Yeah it means max. Effort in it originated from whenever saddles had rivets and the writer would be riding where the rivet is so the rivet. Yeah you're welcome for that one second. You're the hammer and on the ribbit. p. is for peleton. No no. I know what you're thinking not. The indoor bike brands thankful that. I have anything against that. Peleton is the biggest group of writers in a bike race. Or just a general term for a group of riders. Going to move onto hugh which is quick release It is a bolt in cam lever that allows the cyclist to quickly adjust the seat height or remove a wheel from a bike. So and yes. Before you make comments on it we know quickly seat post clamps are not common. Today i get it. I get it. Disc brakes are becoming more and more prevalent. I'm happy to see the end of the quick release. Oh god i mean i. I like the quick release but waits for in terms of simplicity. I like the quick release. But you haven't had a quick release bike with disc brakes. It is a nightmare. I have actually you have. I didn't realize that the red line by pike pike. 'cause you had it for literally a week when i met you and then sold it. Maybe i had it for like six months i sold. It are ours for road rash russia's the the algae's that come from crashing and sliding on the on road yes i said algae's s is for saddle. It's not a bicycle seat. It is a saddle. It is okay though to talk to. Non cyclists in referred to it as a seat because if you say saddle they will automatically go to horseback riding to use for tubular Tubular is a type of tyre setup. Where the the air tube is actually sewn into the tire in that's installed on the rim. Either gluing or taping the the tire in place. So that's this is one that i actually didn't really know existed until probably about a year ago. Its they're very common with the pro rider. Still yeah simply because when you flat on a tube list or an or a tube tire which are kind of the two common types of tires that most people run. That aren't racing professionally. You can't continue to ride because the the tire if you're riding on flat tires can come off the rim or likely gonna come off the rim whereas with a tubular because it's glued in place you can. You're not gonna be able to go as fast but you can still actually keep keep moving with flat tubular until your your service..

"You know, we're all Medicare beneficiaries can make a change change their particular coverage, which would then go into effect on January first twenty twenty one more January 1st of any particular so October 15th through December 7th, every year is the time when all Medicare beneficiaries are being inundated with direct mail into their mailboxes the 24-hour infomercials on on cable television. Probably the only other thing they're competing with is is election coverage to get in front of folks who may be making a Medicare decision this year. I'll even call out like basically if you don't know that it's open enrollment time for Medicare when you see Humana commercials every single commercial break for a football game or something like that, then it's probably open enrollment time. So let's take it all the way back again to our sample person. They've gotten their materials in the mail and I think you alluded to this with Part D. But just need to be very clear. What is the risks of somebody doing nothing at the time of receiving that information and this is basic Medicare. So to speak is looking for them to make an election if I do nothing what happens to me? Yeah. So I mean the the bottom line is that nothing may happen right now if you are medicare-eligible and wage You do nothing right now. Nobody is going to come knocking on your door and and you know rest you for not making Medicare selection. However, it will catch up with you, right so at some point down the road on a specific to Part D, right prescription drug coverage. If you were eligible to be enrolled in a Part D or prescription drug plan from the time you turn 65 and chose not to and then let's say five ten years down the road you decide to enroll Medicare could could and we'll assess a financial penalty for every I believe it's every month. You were eligible to be enrolled, but we're not and then that penalty will be tagged onto your premium and that will carry with you indefinitely beyond that point off. So it's important that you know, whether you need coverage or not. You understand, you know, what what penalties may be assessed if you if you don't make any selections, obviously if you're still working wage, You're still receiving employer coverage as we've talked about a couple of times, you know, there are exemptions, right? So you simply just need to you know be able to demonstrate that you did have what they call krege coverage during that time period that you were medicare-eligible but weren't enrolled in Medicare Plan and so long as you can substantiate that you know, those penalties are are not going to be assessed on you there. There are risks if if you are medicare-eligible and you do not have employer group coverage or or some type of employment insurance that you know will will jump Point catch up with you when you do go to enroll in Medicare and I think that definitely is Bears repeating cuz I don't think people really know that particular piece that well out of the gate and for those of us that are financially minded it seems crazy right to say that that oh, I'm trying to save a buck now and heck in theory. I'm saving the government about get the same time, but they're going to penalize any 4 a.m. Using my benefits. So I again I think it's Bears repeating that they're can and a lot of times we'll be a penalty risk to not use the benefit or at least understanding what your options are. One of the things I see fairly regularly is a situation like I just described with somebody was eligible to be enrolled in a Part D plan off chose not to enrolled in a Part D plan. Let's say five years down the road. Now all of a sudden they're enrolled with a Medicare Advantage plan and they're they're getting their monthly bill or they're getting their monthly statement from that Medicare Advantage plan..

"Seeing you know doctors multiple times a month so fairly extensive let's that could you know that amount could could grow considerably, right? And essentially what you're evaluating is. Okay. What is what is the you know if I have a bucket of money how what is the difference between wage I'm spending on a monthly basis for my co-pays and out-of-pocket expenses in a zero-premium plan versus let's say and I know we haven't introduced this idea yet, but not care supplemental type plan, right which generally speaking there is a fairly substantial upfront cost. Right? You're spending a hundred and fifty two hundred three hundred dollars a month or possibly month or four again, the privilege of being enrolled in that plan multiply that by twelve months. So let's say it's $200 a month just to be enrolled in a Medicare supplemental plan * 12 months. Yep. What about $2,400? What I would do is I would I would compare that against the Medicare Advantage costs and I would say okay. Well, you're seeing six doctors and you're seeing them four times a year now. My math is going to get fuzzy cuz I'm trying to do this off the top of my head, right but you want to essentially you want to essentially compare the out-of-pocket expense. Excuse me, the out-of-pocket expenses against each other to determine at the end of the year, which one is going to be more advantageous for you or your situation again, recognizing that circumstances change, but the good news is with Medicare and Medicare Advantage Medicare supplemental. You have an opportunity to make these changes one time a year unless you have some other type of special election. So what I'm getting at is you really want to use a drill down into the details you want to take a look at the out-of-pocket expenses and you want to compare that to you know, the the various options that you're considering and then make the determination based off. A particular situation. Let's just throw a supplemental out there. Let's just add what extra elements and make it a little more complicated cuz it was on my list. And of course something that we do want to acknowledge. I will say for my own education in the work world. I always just thought that supplemental was basically paying an extra amount of money. So that anything else Medicare A&B did not cover. So like in the scenario you mentioned let's say it's an 80/20 for whatever the service is. Then your supplemental is just covering your part of the cost with some sort of like Risk share all off. It turns out that is part of it. I believe if memory serves but the part I didn't realize is there certain lifetime Max has for example for some of your Medicare A&B services and one of the other things that supplemental can do of course, there's a bunch of different tiers for it is they can increase some of those limits and benefits that's dead. Yet another item that people have to consider. Can you talk a little bit more about what else supplemental maybe doing for folks? One of the things that I think is very attractive about a Medicare supplemental plan is this is the ease-of-use, you know, if you've got some chronic conditions that require routine management, you're looking at the dollars in the sense and you're saying well wait a minute. If I were to enroll in Medicare Advantage plan, it's going to cost me almost as much as it would in a Medicare supplemental plan. But within the Medicare Advantage plan, you know, I may be required to have faith pre-authorizations or I may be required to get referrals which isn't very common anymore. But there may be some additional, you know steps that a beneficiary needs to take within a Medicare Advantage plan page wouldn't necessarily exist or may not necessarily exist.

"I find myself explaining that to to folks all the time that you know by enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan. You are not giving up your Medicare at all. In fact, you need your Medicare in order to be eligible for Medicare Advantage plan. I don't know if this is the right point to inject cuz again don't want to make it sound like I'm arguing for one or the other but I also heard feedback from people that get into a Medicare Advantage plan that it feels more familiar because it tends to be set up a lot more like your employer plan and Heck on other people shows. I think even on this show a time or two, of course the concept of national plans come up and and of course, it seems most common to vilify the employer-based plans for many different reasons, and of course, they've got their issues going on. So it sounds weird to say that that would potentially be a perk but there is something about familiar Especially when we're talking about for most folks was a brand new world and learning what goes on so that's something else to keep in mind is if you do end up in a Medicare Advantage and you've been on your employer plan basically for your full adult life, it will feel more familiar and it might make navigating that plan a little easier. I think you're off on there are you know, we're we're obviously focusing our conversation at least right now on Medicare Advantage, but there are other ways to receive and administer Medicare benefits right back. So when we talk about just having Medicare part A and Part B, let's say you open up your wallet and you've got a red white and blue Medicare card there. You don't have any type of Medicare Advantage coverage. If you go to a hospital you go to a doctor you present your Medicare card, you're going to you're going to receive the care and Medicare is going to be billed for the services that are rendered the.
