Senate Democrats move immediately to "Plan B" on minimum wage
"Yesterday we told you That the parliamentarian head ruled that the dollar minimum wage does not pass muster for reconciliation and must be taken out of a covid relief. Bill now We clarified unlike most of the media. That the parliamentary and actually has no power whatsoever It is just give an advisory opinion is not an actual ruling. The person who does the ruling is actually the presiding chair of the senate was normally is the vice president so comma. Harris is going to have a huge part in this conversation now wants the parliamentarian gave her so called ruling. All the democrats immediately gave up on fifteen dollars minimum wage as things stand now they are going to be taking that provision is going to be taken out of the bill and we will not get fifteen dollar minimum wage for at least four years now. There is a way to prevent it. There are four steps here. I'm going to walk through all four steps and you will see that if we do this. It's actually very doable. To keep it in the bill and to actually win on this issue but it requires courage from progressives and then Requires us to put public pressure on some of our allies and then eventually to the biden administration and sure so step one is unfortunately right now the most important step and where we're going to have to call out bernie sanders bernie sanders. Is the chair of the budget committee. The chair of the budget committee the signs. What is in the kobe. Relief bill bernie sanders. Current plan is to take fifteen dollars minimum wage out of the covid relief. Bill that is a terrible idea. He should not do that. If corporate democrats are going to vote against let them vote against it but doing it on their behalf. i cannot overstate. What a bad idea that is in that scenario that right now is what is going to happen unless we change it together bernie would kill the fifteen dollar minimum wage on behalf of joe manchin and joe by. He should not do that. So that's this is step one. I'm going to get to the other steps in a second guys. I need you to immediately participate. We've got a campaign we've got a partition and and we've got hashtags. We must do all of the above and the campaign is called. Don't kill it bernie because yes step one indisputably. Endpoint next is actually support inservice arm of the company so everything we do is focusing geared towards enabling customers to run their it infrastructure from a support and service perspective and so with that said diving a little detail like give us a use case of win. A business would call on your lean on you to implement or develop. Were handle something for them. Absolutely so for us. We view our customers. Everything from small medium business all the way up to fortune ten companies and as these companies are making their it infrastructure decisions and then implementations as well as even the management and operating of those environments point next is able to step in and support the customers through that journey and then as a customer is if they're managing an environment themselves. One two three support for them should they run into any problems in their environment as well and then when it comes to the digital customer experience side of that so customer experience is used quite often in the tech industry where it's actually in the every industry right people always talk about. Their website integrates nicely there skews when a customer purchases or when gets on the line for service help they all consider that part of the customer experience. Is there a specific domain in your world where you're the vp of customer experience. Where you're focused on inside of this digital services offering at a great question so as we've approached this it's really been from customer view and we've looked at how we can transform the way our customers engage with us as the business traditionally support business has been managed in one wanted two ways. It's either a face to face situation. Where a customer has a representative where there is actual face to face interaction. there's an onsite presence or there's an element that's a remote delivery side. What's your typical type call center or technical solution center. Where if a customer has a problem they call in and get that support the landscapes changing and our customers really just want that digital capability to self solve to self serve and own their own future. So what we're doing on the digital experience side is looking at our portal environment our social forums even looking into mobile applications where we can create a true environment. Our customers can operate. Add an end to end platform. That's integrated that has elements of a layered through it and at the same time. Has a seamless connected back to our telephony infrastructure so from a digital engagement perspective the costumer has the opportunity to choose when they want to engage with us a platform of choice and then as they work through driving business results were always there to support them not only digitally but also through our collective infrastructure back our global remote delivery

VP Kamala Harris believes teachers must be prioritized for COVID-19 vaccinations
"We're back now with vice president. Khama harris on the battle to reopen schools. Does she agree with the. Cdc's plan and do teachers need to be vaccinated. I she spoke one on one with savannah. Guthrie let's talk about schools at. We got a lot of parents watching right now. The cdc few days ago finally put out some long awaited guidance on how schools could safely reopen. But here's the thing. They tied it directly to the rate of infection in any given community. And i'm gonna put a map up because if schools were to follow that right now. Ninety percent of the county's ninety percent of the schools would not be able to the cdc's own metric. Was it a mistake for the cdc to connect school reopening to how much infection. There isn't a community. Well let's i say this that in the last four weeks schools are opening every week more schools are opening and it is because we are supplementing. What needs to happen around the vaccinations getting into two states. But also because folks are. We're seeing progress. But what about that. Cdc guidance then that's that's the question. What they have recommended are exactly that recommendations about how to reopen safely if they've been closed how to stay open if they'd been opened and so the recommendations. The cdc has said it is not a prerequisite for teachers to be vaccinated for them to go back to school but many teachers are of going back to school. Can you reassure teachers. Why CMOs Get Fired: Results Do Not Equal No Results Plus An Excuse
"Do not equal no results plus an excuse one of things. I love about sales by way of example is sales is pretty binary. Yeah they're make your number you miss your number or exceed your number and in sales if you miss your number couple of quarters in a row two quarters out of four you just gotta start being worried about your job and if you're a ceo. Certainly ceos of public companies. Don't get to miss very many quarters. And even if you're a private company you don't wanna be missing your numbers and so at the end of the quarter. The ceo has to stand up and tell the world and investors. How the company did that quarter and the interesting thing. If you're a public company is wall street doesn't give a shit why you missed the numbers. So if you're not he hitting or beating your numbers every quarter. They don't care. It's like the like a kid that sticks us their fingers in the net. We're not listening. They're just gonna tank your stock and if you're going you're going into the penalty box for a two minute minor and if it was a really big miss it'll be a five minute major. Those are hockey terms. If you're not familiar with hockey and so as a ceo you live and die by the numbers every quarter and as a head of sales chief revenue officer vp assails Whatever whatever whatever title is head of sales That's true too and the reality is that should be true in marketing as well so results do not equal no results plus excuse and i knew that i was getting somewhere in my life in terms of training myself to produce results when i didn't even give a shit about my own excuses so when you can't stand your own excuses for For not producing results. You're probably getting somewhere okay. So now this sort of leads us to the question. Okay so what. What are the marketing results that matter because there's lots of things that marketing do you could say. Oh we build a new website that that that's a result it might matter. It might not matter but it's definitely a result so let's talk about the results that matter i think at the highest level. There's only three things that marketing organizations should be focused on number one design and dominate category. That matters number to drive revenue near term mid and longterm and number three create enduring value as measured by market cap or company valuation. We wanna be creating the most valuable company in a category. That matters okay. So let's just hit those three things again number. One design dominated a category. That matters number to drive. Revenue and number three create enduring value as measured by company value market cap valuation and ultimately our objective is to become the most valuable company in the category. That's how you know you're the category queen now. If you focused on just those three results it can be very clarifying on a number of dimensions. And i'll get to that in a sec. Let's talk about why those three things matter so much number one design dominate category. That matters i think that is the seminal be hag the seminal focus of the entire executive team and frankly company itself and if your company's not focused on that i don't know what you're doing number to drive revenue you know there's a lot of cmo's who get all wrapped around the axle about leads or sales off the website or this or that or the other look creating leads driving revenue in the business. These are not hard things you got to go. Do them the work that the doing of the work is real work. But it's not rocket surgery So if you need to drive revenue you probably need traffic to your website. So go to the traffic store and buy some and get really good at converting traffic into customers. And there's a million marketing podcasts and books and and all sorts of tools and tricks and tips we can do to drive revenue but the bottom line is as marketers. We have to be illu air. Wars and ground wars the high level strategic steph and the ground level revenue tactical stuff in the truth. Is you gotta do both. It's not an either or it's a both and legendary. Cmo's particularly when you start your new job. go to the driving revenue. I if you want to score points internally drive some revenue sit down with your head of sales. You're ceo and say what do we need to do to create massive revenue upside problems in this company and get busy on that if you get overly focused on the strategic particularly early on in your tenures cmo. You're probably in for deep shit so design and dominate a category that matters that's the medical driving revenue if there's no revenue the medical won't matter. We need to put food on the family. As george w bush said so put food on the family legendary. Cmo's drive revenue and then enduring value. This is also the objective of the entire executive team but marketing needs to be focused on it. We want to be the most valuable company over a long period of time in a category that matters and We're the category queen of that Category all right so these things are very clarifying because you can look at any execution any activity any investment Any new hire that you're doing in marketing and ask yourself the question. Does this one design and dominated new category that matters to drive revenue and three create enduring value. And if it doesn't don't do it stop doing it. Just don't fuck do it. now. I've sat in the cmo chair. I know there's a lot of things that are distracting. I think the cmo gets pushed and pulled in ways that some other c. level executives do not and so there's a couple things i'll you to number one. Marketing is not an internal service bureau. This idea that marketing has internal customers. I'll marketings here. Just depart the business You know sales our customer. That's insanity marketing is the business. It doesn't support the business now. Yes marketing does need to work with sales. Es marketing does need to work with engineering and product development and product management and so forth of course and in that context every department needs to work with every other department but if we are at the beck and call of these other departments and they ring the bell and we salivate then. We're going to be in a constant state of stimulus response so be very very careful about allowing yourself to get turned into an internal service bureau. That's one Another one is a lot of marketers. Cmo's even ceo's get very focused on the competition. Let's say the competition announces some cool new thing they do so they re a bunch of money or they launch a new product or whatever it is people get very focused on the competition. They start talking about the competition. You don't want that shit in your head the more you talk about the competition internally or god forbid sternly the worse off. You're going to be now. I'm not saying you should be ignorant about what they're doing. I'm not saying that at all but you don't want them living in your head rent free. You want to live in their head rent free. So don't be overly focused. Be smart. Be savvy be knowledgeable but not overly focused on competition another area. We get distracted. A lot in marketing is typically The cmo and the leaders of the marketing organization get a lot of help. Because everybody's marketing expert. Everybody saw an ad The super bowl. They thought was awesome. And they wanna tell us about it or they see something that someone else is doing in the text or email that thing and they say oh. We should do that. We should do this and we should do that. And so marketing. I think gets a lot more help the. Cfo doesn't get that much saying help. In air quotes right the. "All right. Let's get to the interview this week. I'm talking with danny shaw design educator located in new york city. Let's start the show all right so tell us who you are and what you do all right. Thanks for having me. I'm danny shaw. I'm a design educator. Most of the time also product manager when need to be a project manager as well and at the co- at the end of the day. I'm still a designer multi multi-disciplined design of course across the digital space. Okay how has twenty twenty one been for you so far. Twenty twenty one i mean. What are we with thirteen days. Then will far personally has been fine. You know but just looking at the world around me. You would be hard pressed to say that right but personally has been fine so far. So i'm grateful for that How was last year. I know you know the pandemic really kind of turned everyone's world upside down to some sort away. How did you get the year. Last year was a lot. I think a lot of people was ally of me personally. A lot of personal relationships it greatly impacted things for instance my grandparents who visit my grandparents all the time multiple times throughout the eddie live atlanta. I have not been able to see them. And that's really been a tough pill to swallow on person aside and not being able to see other relatives so that's definitely been hard but then which is probably roundabout way on the professional side. It's it's been probably one of the most busiest of hat professionally. A lot of business in the landscape changes so fast rapidly where the digital acceleration accelerated even more than the pace that it was already at which impacted my inbox in my email. People me up for advice and counsel and job. So it's been a mixed bag is definitely been a mix. Let's focus on work for a minute here. You're the director of digital design and strategy for a company called brand share. What does brands share. Do all right. So shit is e commerce marketing company in for a lot of people who may not be familiar with that concept and idea. We work with a lot of. Cpg burns consumer packaged goods such as emmons but if a lot of the packaging goods that we see on a regular basis as consumers so we work with these companies in regards to the marketing strategy. Introducing them to the market gaining insights and data on these new products that's being introduced to the market and we partner with them on their strategy and execution and how the scale they are offering to the audience at large in a nutshell. It comes across multiple channels digital in person shipping. We do a lot of experts. You things as well so Touch on a lot of areas with these brands trying to get as far as being the partner between the brands and these new products. That's trying to the market. In services and reaching that specific audience that the china targeting reach for their respective products. How did you first get started there at the time. I was transitioning from a position that i was working. At in north carolina as product manager and at the time there was some organizational changes. And i was looking in north carolina and and doing that and just going back and forth between new york and chronic to get my fares in order and iran ran to the person who became my manager So we just ran into each other. We used to work in the past at time. inca essence. She just told me she was working there. She was she just started. She was trying to build a team. She was looking for some freelance designers and asked me if i would be open to discuss it and i i'm open to discussing. I was just transitioned from the last role and said hey you know this might be something of interest for me. While i'm transitioning to china figure out the next and then it just happened to work out. Well we worked well together. I've worked with the rest of the team. And i'm working on the designs and floor the digital initiatives and then it just kind of kept going from there into full-time role and then may stand with the company and so forth. What does the team. Makeup look like autumn. Agean you've got designers because you mentioned design but do you work with so i work with everybody. We work with everybody. So i have Outside of me to other designers on my team i work with the vp of marketing. A record the bp digital. We're we're not. We're about fifty. I'll not that big. So we're about fifty person staff based in new york and of pennsylvania so i pretty much everybody to chairman of the company as well That the president. It really depends on the project. What's what needs to be done. You get to intimate environment. So i kind of get to work with everybody account managers and so forth as well now given that the company sizes is so small like what's a typical daylight now because i would imagine you all are not able to get together in an in an office or you now while the pennsylvania offices so they are all the way the to set up a lot of the new york office we are. We're all remote right to be clear. And we were based in midtown manhattan midtown manhattan but The pa office depending on the circumstances on what might be needed. Maybe like a photo shoot or something like that. Some members still going to office but for the most part is still pretty much remote as well. So yeah but a typical day. Nowadays is really. Just you know looking at Obviously out calendar in the before just trying to coordinate on the bear. Risk projects and initiatives looking at tickets. You know gotta look at these tickets to see what's to was the status of status meetings just to kind of make sure that we're on track with a lot of things calls a foul benders looking at roadmap. There's a lot of. I would say a lot of time. Put was president planning a lot more so than in the past so so to speak. It really varies. I really wouldn't even know what to say. What did with low but my on a log. I'm pretty much aware of what my day is already gonna look like just because i leave when i log out. I just see what. I have lined up for the next day. So usually it's a mix between meetings. You know being a project manager and in the past and project management roles a really try to align and keep things as organiz as feasibly possible. So i think i've definitely had been allowed strong advocate for that. Not just for myself but across the team especially during kobe right so that one thing that be really just had to really make adjustments for the communication on big on communication. I think a lot of not just designed problems. I think a lot of problems in general could be resolved if we communicate elopement so readily had to be strategic in how we communicate and open up communications to help foster solutions especially now that we're not all in this together we can't just walk over to someone and so forth so the communication was definitely gonna be safe there and also iguanas when everything for his hidden in in the world changed right before. Is i do think aloud people kind of know what to do right. So we worked in mit working past normal times and things like that and i think for me was at a place where it had to be diligent about. Okay shut off. There's only so much you can do. And i think not just for me. A lot of people had to make that adjustment as well with the state of the world. Yeah i know a lot of think. It was last year right around the time that the that the pandemic happened. Or the the lockdown started to happen. I was talking with a lotta people for the show who they had either just started a new job in like now it's day for and their mentor. Work from home continually or they're having a tough time to transition from being in the office to now having to sort of work in this synchronous sort of fashion right. And i will say to me. Just because i've had roles in the past where i've worked remote merola north carolina. It was a big remote work environment. Culture prior i would go into the office but it was nothing to see a member who was working remote that day for various reasons. It was very flexible. People have kids people have health issues. We worked with teams across the country. Kind of remote teams across the country engineer so it was never never felt like everybody had to be all his so for me. I was comfortable already transitioned into a more remote environment but this has been the most. I don't know if this is the most remote. I just to show. Has there been like one thing that you've gotten that's really helped you make that adjustment pretty. Well bob meditated. On is i. I really got into a meditation a bit more. Just read different philosophies at least for me just trying to make sense of everything that was going on you know i. I don't have the head. Space is the head. Space app was very very helpful. Helped me sleep more consistently in and things like that. We all just trying to figure out what works for us right. I didn't feel i needed. I wasn't really looking for anything. I was going to make me a better employee anyway. On it I think i was more concerned with was going to help me maintain some schmidt to help during all this time. Yeah so like when it comes to working on a new project or with a new client. What does that creative process look like with you being the director strategy. I know you've got the team under you. What does that sort of process look like from start to finish well. It really varies. Because the relationship that we have with declines it changes in some cases we are more or less facilitators and creative may already common just working on a strategy how to execute it for them and what are the proper market in digital media channels so to speak and then other times. We are developing in design in house. And when that happens of course that's when the standard procedures. What's what's the goal was the objectives. What are we trying to achieve was the demographics that research behind it first before we start opening programs right trying to get an understanding of what the client needs. What goes let's the. Kpi was the measurement of success prior to all of that and then basically looking at our offerings the now tools and resources to see how we can best executed across the board. It may not always be digital 'execution it might be exponential execution might be Just some inserts in getting them the scanty oracle's taken you know micro sites and things like that might be a newsletter campaigns and stuff like that so it does vary but i think we start each project just trying to warn just get an understanding of what are the key goals and objectives and. How do we facilitate that. That making sure that we have the right information to go about executing properly across creative across strategy and course execution as well
VP Harris casts tie-breaker vote in Senate progressing stimulus bill
"The Senate passed a budget resolution after a 15 hour marathon session known as a vote a Rama. It ended with Vice President Kamala Harris, casting her first tie breaking vote of the Biden administration. Passing the budget measures sets the stage for Democrats to move forward with Biden's coronavirus relief plan without Republican support. NPR congressional correspondent Kelsey Snell joins us now and Kelsey Walk us through what happened last night in the Senate and into the early morning. So this whole process known as a vote A Rama is a normal part of getting a budget passed and the very first step in using the procedural tool that Democrats want to use to pass the coronavirus aid is passing a budget. Down that also involves up just an endless string of amendments. Basically, any senator can offer basically on the amendment as often as they want and as long as they want until they get tired. The thing about it, though, is most of the amendments that get past are nonbinding, meaning that they end up having almost no no real impact on whatever legislation is to come. So we went through this long ritual, this long process to set up what will be now the committee work. So all of the committees that are named in this budget resolution will start to get to work on writing an actual covert, really fill a thing that could be enacted into law. And speaking of those amendments, Republicans and even some Democrats have suggested limiting Biden's proposed $1400 direct checks to a smaller group of people. Are there any details yet? About who could be excluded from that relief and what the income threshold might be. We don't really know for sure yet, because, like I said the committee's haven't actually started doing their work. What we do know is that there is some appetite, including among Democrats to make sure that those checks are targeted more. There have been some arguments that people who are making more than is may be necessary to To need an additional influx of cash. But those people have been receiving tax and there's an effort to kind of parrot down to make sure that as Republicans say it is targeted relief Now there is a debate about who really qualifies as being too high of an income to require such stimulus on I think we're going to be seeing that play out over the next several weeks. And I think the fact that there was an amendment on this issue that it got debate and that you know, it's indicates that this is something that both sides really care about, which means that it is most likely to have a really serious conversation that could drag out for at least the duration of the time that this isn't committees. I see. I see. And did we learn anything more during this process last night about the fate of a plan to raise the federal minimum wage to 15 bucks an hour. We do know that this is another place where there is, You know some disagreement among Democrats about the fate of the $15 minimum, which some Democrats say that $15 is just not What it should be across the country. They say that maybe in some cities in jurisdictions $15 is a reasonable minimum wage. But they say that other places in the country that doesn't need to be quite that high. Now President Biden has said that it needs to be part of the package. Bernie Sanders, the Budget committee chairman, says that that needs to be part of the package, so this could be one of those issues. That really drags Congress into a fight we've seen with budget reconciliations process that they're using that little fights over things that are important policies to some members can drag down entire bills, and this is a policy that is very important to a lot of people. So it could be one of those issues that we see people fighting about for the next several weeks. Kelsey. I spoke with Senator Tim Kaine earlier this week. And he tried to make the point that this budget reconciliation process could still be bipartisan. Even though a final bill likely isn't going to require any Republican support based on what you saw last night. Is that true? Are Republicans having much of a say in this process? That is technically true. There have been bipartisan reconciliation bills in the past, but you know in this situation Republicans air starting out at about $600 billion, and Democrats are talking about $1.9 trillion. And because everyone on every social media channel that doctors nurses health care workers saying we have p p that's bound on the other side there's this incredible uprising of entrepreneurs who assisting forward money three d. printing visors. That's companies like brutal and burberry. And i'm barbara who've pivot their entire system that can make pp to give away so we've got people desperately in need and scud going without pp's any of us would put up with and people are trying to solve the problem but they couldn't see very other were and so then. I hear on the news one day. Burberry making scrubs. There's an nhs trust because they didn't have to contact burberry have had to go through some ministers in the government to ask them how they conduct bribery. Oh for goodness sake. This is ridiculous. Because i'm all about technical innovation so i thought it can't be that hard surely to find a way of making it easy for people on the front line to say i haven't got this so that people who've got supply can get it and quickly. Yeah that was my beginning and a guy who used to work with who used intel is at ucla now on run did to him. About how hard would it be for us to be able to collect data and put it live on a map so that people can see what's going on and we chatted for awhile for about an hour and then i didn't hear anything back from him midnight that night i get any email. He's already got his team on it. I'm like oh so then fast. Forward six weeks. I've had about fuzi. Volunteers who've sat forward the most incredible people people who well known in the industry. People go better things to do with their times. they busy. Who sat for just getting this. Were absolutely and we're going to make this happen so six weeks later. We launched the service in the first three month period. When all of this stuff you're talking about how they've got. The timelines has stepped forward giving his full page. Spreads is giving us full page. Adverts ocean outdoor gives us sixty with the biggest digital out of home screens across the country. So we can put stuff out there. Not one penny changes hands. A snapchat talked to the general manager. he goes. Yeah wherever we can do to help. We'll do a national campaign. you give gives your assets. We'll sort out view. I have never in my career. Repos talk about purpose and actually fears purpose. You will look forward to enjoy getting out of bed in the morning. But i've never seen anything like this in my life. The sad side of that is that the nhs in my humble opinion and i we were talking about this before. It's the jewel in our crown. It's something that we should be quite rightfully proud of. And then by an example we partnered with united health who have about one hundred thousand frontline. Health co worker members talking to them. And i'm saying i keep hearing stories from people on the front line that actually the idea of people tweeting their requests is really difficult because nobody does speak cow and people are being told not to use the service from my mouth. It being told not to use it. Yeah people are being told if they speak out about the fact that appea- shortages they will lose their jobs. Assist crazy if you can't do your job one wi fi. Find another way to do it. That's most entrepreneurs will okay. I can't go x. y. And found a way round it exactly and the system should be set up in a way. This is about somebody complaining about something. It's if you don't have you're putting your life at risk. Six hundred forty doctors nurses have died. Because there isn't enough got enough. So basically i'm finding out it's absolutely known as endemic that people inside the nhs all tolls not speak up about things and told they will lose their jobs so we moved it from just twitter to having a fool where people could Report anonymously if they were too scared to speak out off the fifteen hundred. Ish request for p. P. i reckon about eighty percents of them were done anonymously by people who was scared to speak out and some of the comments they left on those forms. Joss person frankly interesting. We've been up from. You has improved or got worse vitton. What's your gut fail. It's been interesting because there was a point where there was a story or other media about the fact that management we're turning healthcare workers to be quiet and then matt hancock said in the commons. This is not true. people will be protected. It's definitely from my perspective. People are less likely to speak out and obviously we had a bit of downtime where we registered frontline is a charity because there weren't as many cases and he gave his time to consolidate and build townships so we decided in september. Do a to find out whether or not people in healthcare organizations feel confident. They're going to have enough p. p. to see them through over this next crazy time which is become crazier guess. How many percent said they felt fully confident. They'd get enough. P p twenty eight. Wow wow wow wow that super-low eight percent of frontline healthcare workers believe they will get enough to keep them safe during this time that scary as a number. That's scary.
Biden administration ramps up vaccine distribution
"The Biden administration will begin shipping covert 19 vaccines to US pharmacies next week as it looks to ramp up vaccinations with the appearance of new and potentially more serious virus strains. Her purview goes well beyond that. I think a lot of our previous conversations focused on the branding side of things and it's always a big year for amazon and advertise advertising. Twenty twenty was big in particular. It was on advertising reported. I believe a fifty one percent year over year surge in its last earnings called and booted in great part of by e commerce. So of two thousand twenty was huge for amazon. What does twenty twenty one bring will calling is here to tell us all about that calling great to have you on again. Thank you mine. It's great to be here so you know. Obviously we've all been endorsed for the last thousand million years in that. Interim heavier picked up any any new hobbies new ways of passing the time yes to be honest. Twenty twenty is not going to go down as my favorite year while in the first few months it was a little bit novel working from home experimented with a bunch of new things to take advantage of the opportunity so we don't example as we did a bunch of virtual dinner parties and so we had different cuisine types and then was like shopping. I'll challenge but really the end of the day. i do. Miss the variety of life. Before the coronavirus and i really miss the less structured creative process of sort of working with people in the office having said that I reflected actually on twenty twenty one. I returned to work on the full. January and amazon's cultures really grounded invention and focused on our customers. And i was. I realized how incredible it has been the ways that we found new in creative ways to work together. I think the first thing was that we realized very early in twenty twenty that it was even more important for us to keep inventing and keep delivering new features and capabilities advertises. You know we. We know that brands are facing a myriad of new challenges and uncertainty. And said you know the the impetus asta keep delivering became even greater because we need to give brands the products and features to be able to adapt and create maximum value from their advertising investments. And that also includes empowering the partners which agencies in tool providers they work with to help them to adapt to this set of very rapidly changing landscape and increase their efficiency by eliminating eliminating some of the more transactional pots of of managing ad campaigns. So i know you can't probably detail your entire twenty twenty one roadmap few free to if you if you want to but can you give us a hint of how you know how specifically things might have might be changing for amazon advertising this year. Well this year. I guess is really a- a case of sort of building on what i think of being pretty significant of focus in twenty twenty And so for advertising specifically we continue to improve the programs and services we have available full partners and these partners airport supporting now sellers who continue to be a big focus for us a vendors and our office and i think twenty twenty was a breakout year in terms of the pace of wanting features to our api and as such getting hat into the hands upon us and into the hands allow advertisers to adaptor that shifting environment in customer needs so as an example we launched four times as many features to our advertising. Api in twenty twenty twenty nineteen and we made progress moving beyond campaign creation management to address content marketing so we won't post than amazon attribution emission product to the api we also launch Api's for product eligibility keyword translation content moderation invoicing and manager account operations. So you know despite working virtually i think we we found ways to accelerate out delivery of features we found ways to work more closely partners and across the full funnel said advertising products. And i think that will drive out. Twenty twenty a roadmap his ford. We've also seen like a new categories of companies jumping into all nine retail due to the due to the pandemic has that has has has amazon advertising had to change or rethink those features in order to accommodate some of those e commerce newbies. Well i can't really speak to the broader category chen's but i can say that your small and medium-sized businesses. Continue to make over. Fifty percent of all units sold in amazon stores and in fact during the past holiday season small medium sized businesses in the us so nearly a billion bucks in our stores and we continue to invest heavily in supporting these businesses so amazon teams launch more than two hundred eighty tools and services to help as i last year. And i think this continues to be a priority as the before do those. Those small medium sized businesses interact differently with amazon versus like the the big corporations you think about what's essential to To a business. There's there's a lot that is that is common And so you know that sort of foams the basis of where we start like. What is the common advertiser will business need. And then of course you have variants in the way that this needs sort of as you get into more of the specific challenges that each segment of customers that we have will be will be working to address. But i think there's some common pieces that are really important regardless you want You wanna be too operate efficiently. And this is i think we're focused on. The api partners in and that group of of businesses will serve on the very wide range of sellers vendors and authors from the quite small to very large on markets. And so you that way. "In anticipation of tonight's historic VP debate, we're bringing you a recap to help you understand just what's at stake for Senator Kamla hairs and Vice President Mike Pants, and if you're watching the debate tonight, we'll be there with you live tweeting you can find us on twitter at the Nacho until then enjoy show. After, it is awfully chaotic first presidential debate and President Trump's announcement that he has contracted Kotik nineteen. All eyes had turned to the VP today political journalists and news producer. Shana Thomas joins us to discuss how stakes for this debate have changed and what it could mean for the election. This is. Shawna welcome to the Ni- it's. A day is a day. The news never stops in the United States of America apparently so we just have to keep. Rolling with it, literally I feel like a bag in the win. All. Right. So the first presidential debate was absolute chaos. Justice. Left. Will you? And now since then president trump has tested positive for the coronavirus how does that change the stakes for the vice presidential debate I? Think we've seen that the trump campaign and Mike Pence's campaign have been trying to downplay covert. Now that the president of the United States has to actually lead quarantine. It means that almost all focus goes back to that in some ways depending on how the White House response to what's going on. That could be a positive for how Mike Pinson respond but I also think it gives the Biden terrorist campaign Senator Kamla Harris a chance to be like guys somehow y'all screwed this up. So March that the president of the United States got code. So. It raises the stakes I think for the vice presidential debate and just makes covid nineteen th first questions out of the gate for it. How does this change the respective responsibilities for Senator Harris and VP pence going into this debate basically what a of people at home are going to be thinking wait a second wait a second because of covid nineteen, both of the people who. Could be president of the United States are men in their seventies. They probably both have underlying health conditions. It's a real possibility that one of these two people on stage during the vice president. Could have to assume the presidency how that please is is really important. Both of these people in some way need to look presidential. So we all know that Senator Harris is the first woman of color. It's ever participate in a vice presidential debate, but she's also only the third woman ever to be a vice presidential nominee. So important to have a woman on the stage this year. People are looking for representation someone like Senator Harris, if Joe Biden were to become president, the United States is in the room for decisions and I'm not saying that her point of view win out they're trying to make decisions but the fact that you have someone who looks like you like me and can think from that point of view and be in the room and. that. Is Light, and that experience is because she's a woman is half of the country. Then they can take that into account as they're making decisions and that's a selling point for the democratic side. So how do you think Senator Harris will keep the issues that are important to black voters frightened center while also appealing to the moderate white voters that Biden appears to have picked up because of their frustrations with President trump number one, she is just going to answer the questions about black lives matter what we're seeing the Rachel reckoning in this country. Has pointed and honestly as as she possibly can while she is doing that she has to also make sure that she uses those points to say how Abidin Harris Administration would approach. Racial issues is is better for the entire country. I think specifically about healthcare healthcare that makes sense the affordable care act not being overturned by the Supreme Court helps all of you. She has to specifically answer the question and speak to issues of black and Brown people but then she has to broaden out and like our policies will help everybody. In your role at NBC News You help to prep moderators for two of the Democratic primary debates in two thousand sixteen. Talk. US through the preparation process for moderators there's a lot of attention on. This year. So basically, what happens or at least what happened in my experience during twenty sixteen? The primary debates is network kind of sits down, gathers a bunch of people together and lays out the topics that they think should be talked about, and then you go to all sort of corners of your network and you say what questions haven't been asked what questions would you ask if you? Were actually moderating this debate and you call those ideas down to a few like a few key questions for each topic and people literally put books of research together for each question, and then you keep sort of culling that down to what are the main points a moderator would need. If someone says something that wasn't true and they needed to push back or they needed to ask him interesting. And then you take all of that and usually you sort of sit in a room and you have people play the candidates and what that kind of helps you do is it helps you weed out the questions that are only going to give you like most pack answer that the candidate has given multiple times and helps you reshape the questions to try to get more out of them. So that the audience can learn more in the voters can learn more about what these candidates think and say the whole point of asking questions during the debate. So they come off on biased what goes into writing questions that aren't As bias across the board how do you think about that? What you WANNA do is make sure enough people have agency in the process who come from different walks of life different backgrounds who worked for the company and that they take a look at this in sort of trying to point out your holes are your diet is showing. It's really just about being smart enough to really bring enough people into the conversation who can call people out on their their shit. It's a question doesn't make sense we have about three weeks. You know maybe some change before this election. The events we've observed. Couple of days does that change the calculus for these candidates moving forward I think probably both campaigns are sort of wondering how do we get our candidate out there campaigning in the last three weeks of an election look like if your candidate can't be in front of people I wish I had a better answer how does this change it but this is so kind of Oh I hate to use this word at this point because it's been used on cable news so much but it is unprecedented I would not know what to tell Joe Biden's campaign or president trump's campaign other than. Preceding with responsibility so that no one can accuse either campaign that going forward. I know some people would say about trump's campaign that they weren't responsible in the first place but to make sure no, one can accuse canteen of ignoring the world around them as they try to figure out how to get people to vote and try to figure out people to vote for them. I would not want to be working for either of those campaign. Very happy to have this job and not based. Exactly. "There are some very serious gaffes that she helped to push forward on pence's behalf she. It was very clear that the trump campaign doesn't believe in science. Once again, they refused pence refused to. Talk about systemic racism. He said that systemic racism doesn't exist. He said that trump could be anti Semitic because he is Jewish grandchildren he was like sexist and all of it came to the forefront in a way that she still kept her composure. So I thought that a lot of ways that was a win and like in the idea of if this were a scripted debate I, really feel like the touched on a lot of the key touch points on the other hand my big question and I don't know how I'm going to get a real answer to this is. I felt myself really zoning out during a lot of pence's answers as the bullshit increased in mass. But I imagine that the other side probably aided up and so I don't know how much of. This was like once again, I don't know that it's GonNa make that big of a difference or whether we're just gonNA continue tomorrow for the results to feel like they are exactly the same as they were this morning. If if the teams are still saying staying the same in any of those voters who were undecided are GonNa be any different I think that would be victory for us right and I guess for me the final thought would be I'll kind of end it. In a way where I ended it last time we had a debate episode which was. I was really excited for the last eight to show clips to my son in the morning and and be like, Hey. Okay. Now, which one of these people do you agree with right and then I ended up unable to do that in just showed true. Just just picked a clip and was like, what do we think of the way the president behaved and he and he was like it. Seems like I'm older than him so like that was a lesson that he got out of it but I will give the you know I will give pence credit I. Guess for the fact that tomorrow I think I'll actually be able to show true a couple of clips and big. What do you think of the things they were talking about? That's a good thing but the other thing is I think just specifically Mike Pence for minute like forget the trump administration I had this really interesting conversation with true at bedtime tonight before the debate because he knew I was going to watch it where we were talking about my pants and he was asking me. But why would he be trump's vice president and he was like is he a bully because that's how true refers to to Donald Trump and we had this really interesting conversation how you know sometimes people aren't bullies, but they are friends with bullies and they never turned to bullies and say, Hey, that's not cool or they keep helping the bully and true is like that seems just as bad and so. Yes I just think like look in the long run if we win this election, Mike Pence's is a footnote in history and not a favorable one. But I do think it's just a reminder that we have to make sure that everybody that people can't treat. Once we win this people cannot treat the trump administration the way they treat the Iraq war, which is everybody was against it the whole time. Then ain't gonNA fly. We're not GONNA let people get off of them so. I'll true is so why US yeah he he didn't say that. Phrase. One thing I didn't say is. Glad to have you back. Buddy. Oh Yeah. Thanks Jenny. "And forth like direct question asking from one person to the other and I think that's a really effective tool that surprise wasn't used tonight. But pence was asked question directly about what he would do. Indiana governor didn't answer it and he did you should listen to this answer because. If, YOU'RE A candidate out there helping candidates because what he did is something that you're going to see all around the country we've been seeing for a long time he. I. retreated generalities. So he talked about life and the importance of life which WHO's not who's not for life right? So that's where they like to do. Then he immediately went to the most extreme position that was not held by his opponent and got to explain it. And completely duct the extremities of his own opinions and basically got away with it was waiting for their and what we've gotTA. Do Better his Democrats. is to be like Mike. Pence. You're governor of Indiana. You're talk radio host you said x. and you said, why can you explain that and like he just never had to answer for some of this stuff I felt like Harris was constantly defender record constantly going to her record penn says a really scary after record that he should have to defend to what? Yeah. I would encourage people if they're interested I mean I think you will find it interesting. Google Mike Pence Talk Radio because he had this whole period where he was a talk radio guy in Indiana and if you watch it like it does not in any way, resemble the mannerisms or just the personality of the Mike Pence that we know now because the Mike Pence we all know is just that guy doing a really really bad Ronald, Reagan impression and I think it must be exhausting to do all the time because he's just he was just a shock jock. Talk Radio Guy saying really provocative things with all in very gregarious But that said, there are two things that I thought. We should give I don't WanNa say give credit but we should be aware of I. Thought were very effective that he did I and you reference this. I thought that while it was. Framed in that was totally disingenuous. The way they made the argument about Isis. And their progress against it I thought was if you don't know the facts of very very effective approach and then second the total BS revisionist history that they did on swine flu was You know and I think this was a point where Jenny you're right that she wasn't going on the offense because she let that pitch go by and I think thinking like. People, people get that right but I thought if they were allowed to continue that and continue to make that argument I do think it would be effective because he just made it seem like thank God the Obama Administration wasn't in charge because swine flu I mean it could have killed all of this. If it were I mean it was a very effective bullshit framing on his part. I I really. Disagree with the I agree with the Isis point but the swine flu point I feel like people it's two recent. It's to recent history like we were all living through sly swine flu and know that it wasn't the same. So to me I was sort of like why are you doing this again trying to make the swine flu comparison happen it doesn't seem to be working I think because they're so screwed on this issue like Let's. Let's very effective adjusted to reality right like because, I, agree with you like we all know reality which is why she let the pitch go by because it's ridiculous. But at the same time if they were able to repeat that Ad Nauseam for the next three weeks I, do think it could potentially be effective because people would forget. Totally, I actually thought that the more effective part of that of the pandemic argument was when he said that basically their plan for how they would react is exactly the same as how. Trump and pence reactive that to me was like. was a huge moment and I felt like. Harris didn't really respond with enough strength in my opinion or like clarity to that because all of a sudden I felt like that point would really land and it was a moment where that was a big opportunity to differentiate. That was just missed your smart of him. Right I was smart of him because if there are people out there if there voters that they're. Losing who they would otherwise get because of their handling of the pandemic they're giving those people licensed to stay Republican. Yeah and so these a good opportunity for closing thoughts here and I'll give to based on on what you said. One is that's where it gets back to this character point for me. One pitch that we let go by was the super spreader event. Question. The reason why I think we need to talk about the super spreader event and masks a little bit more than we did is not because we want to kick a guy. When he's down and he's sick but because it reveals the character of the president and I, think the masks issue I think is revealing of who he is, and so I wanna see a little bit more connection from this campaign and it's not specific to this debate tonight but just more about the character of the president and why that matters and I think the second big takeaway I have is that This point that. You. Know everything we just said which is like we can award as many style points as we want to pence in terms of what he did or didn't and certainly dot com for. Like what was overbearing behavior that hopefully is going to be costly for him. But I'm. GonNa. Go back to the analogy I. made it to be. He is Baghdad Bob like he can say all the right things but he's spinning the greatest bullshit of all time and that's what gets swine flu thing he's he's grasping for the best argument possible but he's he's Elizabeth homes with the FDA. Got People touring the medical facility and just coming up with every possible peaceable should he can. And he's really good at it. But it ain't going to do the job here because what he's selling his so fraudulent, it's just not gonNA. Make a difference. That's my big takeaway. Trump fan fiction fan fiction. That's what he's just like I would. By the way I would love to meet the Donald Trump that Mike pence knows. I mean that guy sounds almost bearable. Yeah. I mean he he cherishes the American people. About the American people to. Anyway. Jenny. My closing thoughts are that I. I was really wowed by everything that Kamla did I think that she was warm. I think there's lots of research that shows how important is for women candidates specifically to talk about their credentials and record I think she did everything spot on and.

He wants to give more money to the police. Biden on the right is a socialist. So all of Bernie's can't all Bernie's ideas or just subsumed into Biden burden is not a socialist, he's very moderate. Democrat, but the so there's not like a fair fight in terms of how these how are folks are being characterized so to say like you as you're saying Karen Bass is this air go republicans will say this like Oh stop. Oh, please they're gonNA say whatever they want to say we need to choose the True, we need to choose the candidate who is best for Joe. Wright who will make Joe feel most comfortable. The candidate will not pull in votes. They will not significantly affect turn out. They're not going to shape any state. They're not going to bring or lose any state, but they will suggest where Joe's mindset is in what sort of president he wants to be which is wait a minute. Well, the one thing that I will say is this if he does choose in fact, end up choosing a black woman which he should I do think that that will bring in more black people, more people of, color. I do I do think that I don't know that it will be sold to who the future of the Party is, which is people of Color Joe and Fantasyland, and let's pull back and talk about this this part of the conversation, the general black VP. Joe. has done better with black voters has been doing better with black voters than anybody except for Barack. Obama? Right. Including I. Think Bill. Clinton. Right. He's. He's been doing extraordinarily well black voters throughout the primary. So you know and with trump on the other side, it's almost a gift, right? So I mean I I. Don't know that there's anybody who is currently saying I'm not sure if I'm going to vote and then he's put a black woman on the ticket and they say now I will go vote because it's Susan Rice or Karen Bass or Kamla Harris or whoever. Now, that said. We do see that black voters do say they want a black candidate right? And they feel they deserve a black candidate and I think it would be dangerous of Joe. To have left. So many black women. Candidates hanging in the wind for so long and then choose a non black candidate at a moment of Vm at a moment of the feeling the power of like we deserve to be in that spot. If for no other reason than for the future, right for now, and for the future for what we saved you right I. Mean you would not be here if not for Barack. Obama. Jim Clyburn and black voters of the South and Midwest who propelled Biden when his candidacy seemed to be floundering. If, all of that cannot convince you to pick a black person and go for the historical value of saying, okay. Let's let's put it black VP on the ticket. Right I i. think that that is really valuable for the Biden campaign to do and I think it. It puts the ticket in a different light, a different historical light and in an and it, it puts a real. We could say count point counterpoint onto the situation in that, we have the most racist. President. We had centuries right since we had slaveholders and then. You know the the black presidents VP with a black female vp at his side, right like I. Mean. That's almost like a novel Listrik sort of like differential there. And I think that you know to your point what I'm wondering right and this, this is the fear and this is why people like is Biden taken too long as the deliberation to great at this moment and I'm like, no, like we're living in the most consequential times ever like I'd like I'd like a leader to be fucking thoughtful and also from the hip also like go with their gut, he's winning. The. He doesn't need to change the race by like pick the. So we can change the conversation like he's winning, week. But my my thought, my my my fear, I should say the worry that I have which are many. But the one that I was talking about right now is. Just, what you said. What happens if after all of this vetting, all of this time, all of these beyond qualified black women. That we whose names have been circulating four months and Joe Biden decides to go with the. Whitmer. Right. Or. For A, Warren. Right. Like. What if like what if it? What if he does choose? In my particular view incorrectly. Because I don't think that there is a bad choice with these black women i. think that they each bring something different, right? Do Space. Why do we get to that? We'll get to that but I do. Oh. If he chooses that cop as you get older, you find you need reading glasses more and more when you go to the restaurant with the eight.

"They see like one. VP's product is in one tab. One VP's products in another tab one VP's brought us another tab and they're like Oh i. don't understand how this meets my needs, so you're you're vice. Presidents need to work through and say hey. We need a partner up to make sure that complicated projects that may need to be delivered across many many many different groups actually made progress. It could be things like technical platforms. It could be one common customer view could be complex integration on the front page of your product, but generally these silos actually really get in the way of making the product work, but if you just have your directors nail their individual areas, you'll get this sort of patchwork of products. Now as a CPO, your job is actually much more on vision, so the strategy is less around cohesiveness of the product line more around what's happening tomorrow and a lot of times? It's the storytelling in the narrative that needs to be a place here. You're oftentimes your board. Your founders or CEO have had a strong point of view on where the company will go and three five years, but that won't just be a product vision that'll be a company vision, and then you're GonNa, have your. Your directors who are really clear on their road maps why they're cheating what they want your? VP's connecting all the dots and your CPI's left with well. I know where the products GonNa. Go and say the next six to twelve months and I see what the vision and the company is, and my strategy is to storyteller how these two things connect. How will the product could get there and it? How will the changes I making in the product team ultimately land and end up as a? As, as as the team to get to that strategy and vision, so it's that product teams story as well as the product story, which lends itself to that vision. Okay well, this has been a quick. Thirty minute chat around how I think about career I do think that the skills are super different between directors. VP's and CPI, and maybe the most important lesson is that not everyone will be capable of getting to these. But more importantly not everyone loves the actual practice of explaining to the head of marketing, exactly how product works or teaching management, versus just getting an and building it themselves or working through strategy and vision, and trying to connect between these two rather shively fixed targets or career shaping other individuals. I think that this is one of the areas that I would ask you to think about is as you look at the skills that I've laid out here. Think through how much of that is connected to your current skills. How much of that is connected to your definition.

Go Yet kyrie's one of those real smart athletes you come across. Who's WHO's just a real real bright guy. There are athletes. You come across like that where you say. This person's bright period not by standards of an athlete by standards of human. It's a really smart person. For example Kobe Bryant was a brilliant guy talked to Kobe. Whatever is measured? I Q was. I'm sure it was extremely high. He was a very smart guy. And you come across. Kyrie very desperately. It seems to me wants to be perceived that way has shown me no evidence so maybe because he does seem to elicit some kind of loyalty from some of his teammates. They speak well of him some of his teammates and feel he gets a raw deal and so okay. Maybe he's showing it to them and here. He did get elected by his peers. And maybe it is a job people actually want. Maybe I'm wrong about that okay. But I'm saying I have yet to see the evidence of the intellect that you referred to back so I've seen the intellect Kyri is bright so I will say this is extremely polarizing. Because him on the court he becomes emotional And I think he's still learning maturing in that regard as a leader for a team and I look. We've all been up here and we've all had multiple conversations about the way. Kyrie has led on the court. I will say this because I think it's really critical. And today, we're going to talk about how to hire a VP of growth, but what is a VP of birth. Neil. A VP of growth is someone who just tries to make all your numbers, go up into the right in essence, and it's not necessarily through paid ads or SEO. It could be through anything could be optimizing your sales process authorizing your product referral programs. SEO paper quit Konta marketing. They're using whatever they can to figure out how to grow faster. Yeah. The reason what we're talking about this all the friends that we talked to mutual friends. They're always looking for Eric. We need a really good marketer. We need a VP of growth and everyone's asking us right now. So the question is how do you go about finding a good VP of growth? I know a lot of good people. And I'm just trying to you know, the first answer. I'll give you to keep it simple. It sounds boring. It sounds lazy. But if you do know people that are connected in space. You ask for referrals? That's lou. Literally what's happening right now everyone's asking for referrals, and that's one of the best ways to get hires. No matter what. Whether it's you're looking for someone to clean your house. You're looking for someone to cook for you, whatever that's the best way. So the way I would go about hiring a VP of growth is go find all your competitors. You probably already know now go on their Lincoln's and see who's working for them that has a group title or anyone in your space. Even if they're not a direct competitor who has grow title or anyone who is VP of growth of any type of business. You can set them up in buckets, typically two buckets one people who are competitors. The second for people in your industry or anyone who's just in growth, and then I would shoot a message just being like hair IKA hope all is. Well, I just wanted us myself. My name's Neil Patel with company x y z, and you tell your story and be like, look, I know you're in marketing your VP or growth decided curiosity. Do you know anyone who would be interested in a VP of growth position at my company, and what you'll find is by not being to direct and not saying, hey, Eric, can you work for us? You'll get. A lot more people who will be like, I don't know anyone or I do know someone, but hey, I'm actually interested myself would love to chat with you. And that is probably the best way now to give you idea to keep rambling aircraft or this to give you ideas, we're looking for sales people and one of our offices, and I did a test where we went out there. And I posted on my Facebook and Lincoln even did a Lincoln jobless tting. We got hundreds and hundreds of likes on our postings people commenting, we had more people that we ended up buying technically. We I don't know if we even hired one or two people yet from my posting, but what we did already higher belief three people. From was my co founder, Mike did the strategy. I'm just talking about where he went on Lincoln, everyone up who had similar titles and other competing companies. And he said, hey, do you know of anyone else and x y Z just had his? Spiel, and I could you not we filled up more people from that than any other tactic. And it works not just for VP growth or sales at works for any job title. And what's the typical question? You would ask this potential candidate? So if their VP growth, and we're interviewing them, I will tell all about my business, and I would ask them. What would you do to grow the business here? My numbers. This is the number. We wanna head up entity year. How would you get there? Right. And it's not even about them saying you can hit it or you can't hit it. You wanna get their thought process and figure out they would go through to get to that number. I like that question the way I start it. Usually is all ask them about their most impressive marketing win just to. I know how they think about what they think is impressive. How did you contribute? Right. Then I would go personally I would go to later. Like, what would you do for us later? Maybe there's potential homework assignment. Now. The danger dangerous thing here is at least in the United States. You actually unless you pay them. You can actually get them to shouldn't ask them to do actual work for you because right of labor law labor laws. The other thing I'll say is this one of our army chill. Friends runs runs us one company. And I actually I the last two growth guys that he hired are referrals from me. Now, how did I find this guy initially? Well, I was reading Neil, and I will read good marketing post, we kind of who's writing good stuff. Whether it's about orcas now defunct, but you got grow taxes, you have other sites out there that you can find good stuff on. And this guy kept writing good content. And I was like man, okay. Can reach him. I was like, hey, would you like to write content? So he started freelancing for us to while. He's working fulltime job as a market or somewhere else. Eventually, what am I friends needed tire director of marketing just what I referred him. He got that job, and I also referred him to my other friend, and then he ended up getting a job I for the first friend, and he moved over to the second guy, but that was from one piece of content. I so for those of you looking to get into becoming kind of mini brand defined a good VP of growth job, create content. But for those of you look into hire someone go look at the people that writes up because you can get their thought process and a huge bonus. For me, we want to do more of this is to make sure that everyone on the team that we're hiring can right. Well, because you're you're writing emails all the time. You're communicating all the time if you can articulate yourself at least through the written word, or at least content somehow then while you're gonna be behind other people.
