"Back to the Bruins beat on C, L & S media. My name is Evan Mera. You have a great day great week, just having a good time, just having a good old summertime. Anyways, this episode had a lot, Ryan and I got into a lot over the Taylor Hall negotiations. What we're hearing what's being said, what's being reported off? We think they should do then we get into Ryan Suter, Elliott Friedman reporting that the Bruins and Suitor are heavily linked by a lot of different people. And you know last week I poke the bear. We both said that we wanted that to happen and now it seems like it's actually coming to fruition. So we get into why that's a good thing and what that holds for the Bruins, what soutter could get, what the market will be like for Suitor. And then we get into the draft, the crack and draft, which I think is The potential to be very interesting. Given the amount of players amount of good players who are available. I think with the Bruins, it's pretty obvious who the crack and we'll pick or, you know, there's two players, I think that that's pretty much a given that they're going to take. But around the league. It's very interesting Carey Price, Mark Giordano, Vladimir Tarasenko. So, we get into that sort of what direction, the crack take, you know, do they go for young guys with potential to they go for win now, and get the best possible player from each each team, regardless of contract. So we get into that previewing, that kind of getting said that which again should be very, very interesting on on how that all plays out. So before we get to the episode that online is still the fastest. And easiest way to bet on all your Sports Action baseball, season is in full swing way. You could track all the action at online, called latest news, odds and info for all your sporting needs. Whether it be the MLB, you want to do some NBA stuff. NHL Futures that you want to get in the UFC. They got it all dead..

"Not that high but Snowden for tomorrow. Yes. Need a high. Exactly. So so wait it out a little bit more? Yes, the ideal stuff that will keep track of the terrorists, anchor stuff, interested to see where terrorists Tango goes. Yeah, cuz again flat cap 7 and 1/2 million for an injured guy like him. You know, his struggle a bit with injuries. I don't know how that, I don't know who picks that up, but maybe it's lightning. Maybe the lightning are like, he'll find a way to do this, but anyway, Interested to see what happens Tere sang Co cycle and Atlantic division next year. That's ambroeus made for this week, Connor, before he goes there, anything you'd like to plug. Yeah, we're going to be looking at a few other, you know, potential offseason pigs for the Bruins. Think one guy who's an intriguing potential option is more of a third line, guys of Tomas Tatar who could be available. So he's a guy that's got quite the pedigree also, very underrated wage, do some of this analytic numbers so we'll do a deep dive into that. Obviously the crack and draft is upcoming so we'll do another mock mock draft of that, which I don't think people going to be very surprised with at this point, they thought the Bruins are going to be it's going to get really like Smoked by the expansion draft, like some other teams with, with a slew of, you know, key cogs up in the NHL roster. But we'll take a look at that as well. So all that will be over Boston Sports channel cam. So follow over a b, s j and if you want to follow me on Twitter you can do that at, Ryan underscore 93. Yeah, that crack a draft is coming up. I still am in the mode that it's like July 1st of July Fourth, it's dead. We're currently recording July 12th and this episode was on July 13th. The draft is the 21st very soon. And again, when when that happens to like I would not be surprised of like the draft is done in like the next day like Paul signs or like or other guy like a lot of teams are going to like be like type it into the transaction, why're you getting something to do this. That's really that's slowing. Everything down at this point. Yeah. And maybe it's at ours, like the Michael Ryder, you know, going for the cake, the Bruins. So maybe that's maybe that's there. Anyways, that is broadly for this week. That's kind of Ryan. Denham Aronofsky. Hubris be listeners. Have a great rest of your week off off..

"Think they're in that tear. It just all depends on what they do this often. So it's just status quo and it's another. One of like let's try the young kids, then I think you have every right to drop them cuz I thought I seen what this current core can bring you, which is at least a second round appearance, you know, a great regular-season but you need legit NHL guys with that group over the top. So if they go out and walk, get a, you know, legit top pairing defenseman, add another one or two guys on the blue line. We got McCabe Iran, oleksiak, get a legit middle six Winger guy that could either play with krejci or, you know, being a lead third line guy with with coil, whether it's a Coleman or a, you know, like a Tomas Tatar or anything like that. There's a whole bunch of moves. The Bruins needs to make and also includes, you know, revamping 4th fourth line. Finally, do a net, which I give you go into the air. With let's say you sign Rask, waiting for him to return and you do go with swimming and blood are A lot of risk, their lot of intrigue, but also, you know, it's not probably the most stable environment to go into the season with, but if you check off some of those boxes on the off season of, you know, let's say they get in that home and let's say like a Coleman Coleman. You know, you add those guys to the next then I think you have a good chance of feel pretty good about where you are. They the favorite? No, not. Not even, you know, especially with mm, I think I think even losing guys are still going to be very good, but they're still a team that if they address these flaws that were fairly evident, especially in the playoffs, wasn't like the Bruins lost. You know, as a sum of all the pods, you know, there was evidence laws on that team as to why they came up short against the Islanders. Do you correct? Those and you still have this corn Play? That's So plays at a high level, you're right in the mix, which at this point at this stage in the office, you know, cup condenser window. They have, it's kind of all, you're all you're looking for. Cuz once you punch your ticket as we saw this, pass hear anything can happen. And so, yeah, no and I agree, I think they're in the right spot, right birth. I can't sit here and be like, oh, they should be forth, doesn't matter who cares. And the Islanders, by the way, they're twenty to one, odds, they are night. That's a team. I mean, I'm I put money on, you know, 20 218 the Islanders. That's, you know, put throw like twenty bucks on that. That's not a bad bad little bit. They always end up in the final four or in the, in the final, you know, Bunch. They could make a move, this.

"Wage are your thoughts on that? Yes, definitely going to be tough, you know. Obviously it's going to depend on what goes on with the Bruins, this offseason what they do. I think like on paper right now there's no inline to be at least a playoff you know not not lock I guess based on the way the division is but still it seems going to punch it, take it to the playoffs, how legit they are is going to depend on what they do to fix these home. That's re-signing, you know, krejci and and Hall, you know, adding you know, bottom-six depth, or another legit top-six Winger, you have to show up that Deke or find a good plan in place for years. The situation in that, but it's not going to be easy. It's not like we're, you know, we can go into a season like we usually did where it's like, all right there, at least going to finish top for. Like, you know, you gotta worry about The Usual Suspects, Tampa Bay Toronto, but this year, you got that same, that same issue, right? Where I mean Tampa is going to probably lose some guys unless barring some unique engine is disease outbreak and everyone like as to when ltir the entire year they're still going to be good though. They still even if they like move four or five guys off that team you still have like on a rental house key was enough to maybe we'll get it to the playoffs. Like you don't even know you say you have to you have to put your Coleman's gone. Tyler Johnson is probably gone but the core is still intact. Yeah. Yeah. And also against the Tampa team that you look at the way they develop and draft which is a sign of a good team like people want to hop about the cap gymnastics and all that stuff. But this is a team that every single year I think we've talked about For but bring up like Joe Schmo from like fucking Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, or they took like, in, like the seventh round and he becomes a legit player. Who scored the game? Seven winter was cold is random, dude. You like so you know what next year? Like not to say that they're going to lose Coleman and guy like Colton or like a Matthew Joseph is going to become like a 50-point guy, but the probably going to be competent solid NHL players like that team just the way they draft and develop is insane. Not just in terms of like, you know, the big-name guys that you know, weren't first-rounders like a cooter oven point and finding those guys in the, you know, the the second round or what have you, but just these other like, you know, full fifth-round players that, you know, they may not be flashy players but they end up being, you know, solid guys, you can put into the mix so they're still going to be great. But then you got Toronto who, you know, as much as maybe they could be in line for a bit of a change. You still got that same court they still got that top six that you know they're still going to put up points. We don't know what the phone number. Which is going to be in that, you know, maybe they move one of a monitor, or Annie lender, but they get a, a legit defenseman in return. So, they're still going to wait and they're still going to be the Black Ops..

"And we're here with Connor. Ian Connor, what is up? Evan doing well? How you doing? I'm doing great, you are just back from South Carolina. How was that? The food looked amazing? It was lovely. As I've been eating salads the last couple of days to try to react only my body after having just an absurd intake of of butter and red meat, and a whole bunch of stuff down there. So, it takes a toll cuz I don't know how you can live down there. Like, you do two or three days, or just going down to a lot of good restaurants, but adds up. So, I've, I'm recovering back up here and beautiful Massachusetts where it's rained. I think, every day since have gotten back, so, yep. But then I'm actually going back out on the road to Washington State and a couple of days. So I am I'm all over the place where in the world does, Ryan. It's going to be me but we'll still have Bruins coverage all throughout this time. There we go. Yeah, so you're going to be everywhere at once. If you've been to South Carolina before, right to tell you about all those restaurants, I just know, know, I'm one of those guys who like, does the, the vacation booking like book. The, the plan that I am just TripAdvisor for the next, like, 3 weeks. That's kind of, that's kind of how I map out that stuff. I'd gone with a plan, so, which usually, if you go to place, like, Charleston means a whole bunch of like going on open table or resy or any of those places in reserving stuff in advance. Cuz if not, you're going to be at Waffle House, which it's not a bad thing, not going to, I'm not going to besmirch the storied institution that is Waffle House, but you should plan in advance. Yes. Oh yes. But that look like, well, especially the food food aspect..

"Took the Bruins beat on Ceylon this video. My name is Kevin Barrett office here. If you guys are having a great day, a great week here in New England, hopefully, you are getting through the rain and the crappy weather and you're listening to this podcast instead. Lucky lucky, you lucky what's getting you out of the rain? Maybe you're on the way to work. You're doing something else and you're just going to totally tuned out the weather and for you and the rest of the country, I hope you're enjoying the sun birth rate. Conor Ryan was on this episode and one thing that, that that I kept thinking about during the playoffs was how much tougher the Atlantic division that the birth will be in next year. How much tougher it will be than in Prior years and I couldn't get it out of my head and today seemed like a perfect episode or perfect time to talk about to talk about that bass. I think it's something that you're going to see a lot next year is there's going to be five legit teams two of which were in the Stanley Cup and all and I think five of the top eight teams that are doing The Cup next year are in the Bruins division, including the Bruins by the way. So for others in the division aside from the Bruins are have high odds, the Stanley Cup. So definitely something to think about. So got into Tarasenko talk who's requested a trade with the Bruins? Be a fit, is that a smart move? And then of course it wouldn't be the off season without a little bit of Jack. Eichel talk and he added a big interview last week with a 25 news here in Boston. Where he did say, yeah, I'd love to go back to Boston a little bit. So we get into that and we do discuss the one way in which he can be traded to Boston and the return would not be a pickup truck or a McEvoy. So stay tuned for that before we get into the conversation, which was very good. I do want to First, tell you about my good friends over bet.

Find his way in. Saint louis as a top payer with perico. I think that this parents it'd be discussing. They're in danger. Mike hoffman is going to be a great addition. it's he. I believe vladimir tarasenko should be back by the beginning of february which will boost thirteen watts. Orange i think that this team canada extremely dangerous. My only question. Mark is jordan as we know i don't like bennington But he didn't play terrible last season If he can continue that i mean. I think that this is a deep team. I think they're just as hard to play against as vegas and again. I think that this is a team that can wear vegas down a hundred percent. I think that this team can break vegas. It's going gonna be exciting This team so i can. I like your high hopes. And i can almost agree with them. This division is going to be one of the morrison top. Yeah i think it's between the west division in the canadian division. That are the most exciting. You're gonna tell me that. I'm wrong the canadians. Those are the top. Then i would put the west. Well i mean. I guess the top three the battle of the top three in this division. I well that's all it is. It's about the top three who are all guaranteed a playoff spot. So lose lose the image. I misspoke. I say though as far as like playoff potential. I think probably one of the exciting ones. I agree with you on that. Like finally make it to the playoffs. Yeah yeah definitely. I don't see an obviously it. Robin lehner flurry. Being two of the best goaltenders. Honestly i think that's going to be tremendous especially in a shortened season being a liberal. I on those guys. Affiliates can help them edge out a couple of teams here to say honestly i. I think they're a great team. I think it's we're going to have the same look. Vegas nights coming up next year ready for number one so yeah obviously. A number one is the Colorado avalanche Space on dude. Honestly nathan mackinnon nathan mackinnon. I mean if you think about it like this team coming in fairly similar to last year and then you have the brennan side and you have the addition of devante as i'm an exciting decor. I mean devante calma car to really young defenseman as long as as places expectations. I think that's going to be one of the greater top lines. Yeah i love their decor. Kim saying you know i mean even same old gerard.

"Louis what do you one. They would like I would like less resistance from the state for for soccer I I think that's something that we're GonNa hit on but that's certainly that certainly only up there I would like Like a true and wide open outfield competition for the cardinals Going into two thousand twenty I'd like the best players to play there regardless of of contact situation. I think that would be fun to see and I would like for I would like for people pool to give Ally drink with an open shot and in a fair shake at Mizzou as he tries to put his mark on it. Because I'm a little. I'm intrigued by him. I'm not quite sold yet. But I'm more than more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as he tries to elevate the The style of play their lead me into a couple of The burning questions and I'll I'll go right to. MLS for the Lou hundred percent privately financed stadium at the cost of at least four hundred sixty one million dollars. The governor not giving the support for the area that is a part of the public infrastructure surrounding the the stadium which is going to be used for so much more than just soccer special events concerts bars and restaurants going in there. I can't I I mean I cannot understand why the support isn't there from the governor and I'm curious what you think about this and what you think may happen going forward. Well I think people who are against any sort of money for sports any sort of public money in any way shape form or fashion four sports are going to like this reversal by the state. And I don't know that we will change those people's minds and everyone's entitled to their to their own opinion here for people who are questioning this this ask. I would point out the ownership group and who. It's made it up of what that group has done for Saint Louis and the state In in years past if it's pretty easy track record defined in terms of their willingness to give their own money and and do the right things for certainly this region I would also point to the fact that this this proposal has been almost universally praised both locally locally and nationally for its willingness to put forth private dollars and have private ownership of land and the stadium And then I would would also point out that the the request this forty million or thirty. Excuse me thirty million dollars in state tax credits. It has been a part of the plan since the ownership group was you know announced more than a year ago now so there was never a pushback from the state there was never signs of. Hey this isn't gonNA work common nominee. There was never any any sort of. Hey you know we need to talk about this. Ask Not only. Did they know it was coming down. They went out of their way to support the plan You look at the fact that the group gave you know. gave the governor's name to the League in in in in documents that showed the support. You look at the fact that we tend to governor. Mikey who who is from Saint Louis. WHO's a big soccer supporter was at the announcement spoke publicly about the cooperation? That was going to happen between the state and and the ownership group which that of course puts him in a bad spot. Now that the governor and the board controls this ask 'cause decided to turn heel a little bit I don't get it. I think it's politics in motion and I think that the assumption a lot of times is that if you go to people like the Taylor families and the Kavanagh's and you say hey you know we know you want this so we're gonNA take a little bit more away and take a little bit more weighing. Keep asking them to do more that could work And maybe that's what ends up happening here. But you gotta be careful full. I think you know continuing to renege on deals that you make with people who are trying to do a good thing And that's a warning for the state here especially when you compare it with how it looks but some of the money that's been given to Kansas City for stadium projects with some of the money that was given to so the chiefs could move their training camp to Saint Joseph's there's a lot. There's a lot that doesn't add up and I think there's GonNa be some more details that probably come out about this to me. The biggest point that needs to be made is that the support is being asked by the soccer group to the state. It's the same that could provide any developer. Any project of any size that helps offset the public infrastructure costs so if somebody's willing to build killed four hundred sixty one million dollars privately financed And bring it to Saint Louis to help revitalization of downtown a blighted piece of property. I can't understand why the governor would try to roadblock that in any kind of way form or fashion. I think it's wrong I'm steadfast in that belief and I don't think it's the right. Thank you question. Number three can the blues. Repeat Looking ahead to two thousand twenty. I don't see why not I I wrote wrote that. They could entering the season that was laughed at mocked by by the hockey writers. There's a there's a little a blog of the hockey community that kind of said. Oh who look at Saint Saint Louis Cute you know they win a championship. And now they're talking about a dynasty and okay. You know I'll get that. Maybe it was way too optimistic. But it doesn't look that crazy crazy now with you. Look at how the blues are playing without Vladimir Tarasenko for most of the season. They're starting to get healthy again. They overcame this kind of stretch. So we we thought the bottom might drop out and now they're getting guys back and all those guys who had to play were thrown into the fire or are better because they had to carry a low they had to play role. And that's what this team does. That's why Dan they were able to get to the Stanley Cup and win it last year. It wasn't because they had Vladimir Tarasenko. It wasn't because they they had joined bidding teams because they had a full slate of guys who all did their role all did their job. They had you know so many guys who scored postseason goals. And now if you look at how how. This team is spreading across at scoring. It's It's starting to look similar. They've got guys who know their jobs and they do it well and they have guys who can step in and do uh other people's jobs if someone gets hurt not everybody's trying to do the same thing and it all starts with that defense that is making Jordan Bennington and jake alum look really really good again and and that's kind of the the part that I think a lot of people overlook they look at the Blues and they don't see you know maybe some of the brand star names but they overlook this defense it just great insurance and wears teams down and it's not because they're out there just knocking people's blocks off. They're just a BOA constrictor and they and they do it slowly slowly and they do it regularly and the team comes out of their man we can. We can't beat these guys especially when you get them to a series so I think they can do it again. It's a tall ask especially without Tarasenko but think about it if they can keep doing what they're doing which is being the best team one of the best teams around and then they get the postseason postseason if Vladimir Tarasenko is back if he's able to jump in and contribute and your own kind of putting a A booster pack on the team. Now they'll still look for scoring they'll still look for ways to improve but I think they're reaching point here soon where Doug Armstrong will be a similar position where he says do. I really WANNA risk messing with the chemistry of this team because of how. Well they're playing unquestioned for for Ben Frederickson looking ahead to twenty twenty as ally drink quits. Right guy for Mizzou. He better be because he's got a big contract and a big big buy out and lots and lots of perks to that. Deal the guy who only coached one season rarely gets anywhere else. And why does that to happen. I think it needed to because Missouri was taking some lumps in its coaching search That's what happens when you have some friction between your athletic director and the Board of Curator's. Yeah that's what happens when you just fired football coach who had six and six season in which a bowl ban hung over the the team's head for the entire time. You better step up and show that you're committed to not doing a similar thing to the next guy so there will be there'll be a lot of discussion and there should be about alleged drink what's not being on. Jim's Turks initial list. Those first three names Jim. Stir candidate into the curator's top by Blake Anderson at Arkansas State. Skip hold on there as well. Jeff Malkin at army was rejected acted so if Missouri tries to say that you drink which was the first choice it can't The curator said look. Go get a name that is maybe a little bit less proven but has more upside and I think and drink quits fits that mold. His offense is suppose supposed to be kind of a revolutionary hearing they score a ton of points. They scored touchdowns not field goals. I think he's a very smart smart offensive. Mind how will he handle the recruiting. How we handle the scrutiny? We'll see he's got one year under his belt. They won twelve games with roster that he did not recruit route. That team went on to win. It's ballgame without him so clearly he had a good system in place there but happy state is also a bit of a powerhouse at that level. So we're GONNA find out if he was writing the tailwind of of his program or if he was the guy who really kind of spearheaded that team two to three thirteen win season He's GonNa have to. He's GonNa get the recruiting elevated. He's going to have to get as many players to who who played for Oldham and signed up to play wrote them and loved owed him to stick around and that's going to be kind of one of his first battle is limiting the transfers to keep talent in the program and he's GonNa have to go to ODEM could not do day and he's going to have to beat the teams there's supposed to be he's going to have to jump up more often than one time in four years and take down a top twenty five team and he's GonNa have to give him struck what he said he wanted which was a regular the top twenty five football team. I think he can be the guy but we don't have any proof that says for sure that he will be. And that's what that's what this hires about is taking a bit of a risk question. Five Live is baseball to partner. Are the cardinals done with what they've got right now at the roster and.

"What a story there. What a trade to wanted important person in many different important players for the Saint Louis blues, you have that story. You have the Jordan Bennington story, which really coincides with him getting called up. He's a Boston Bruin castoff. He's a minor leager. They throw them into the into the mix on January. Seventh makes his National Hockey League debut on a lousy hockey team. And he ends up being really the straw that stirs the drink. Although not right away. I, I mentioned it on this podcast, many times before talking to Darren Pang when the blues were in Madison Square Garden late in the year. And I said, I guess Bennington the guy, right? He must have really turned it around. And he said, no, I think more times than not, these skaters are carrying Bennington allowing him to get his his game going in, and certainly he became a major factor. But we credit the blues for kind of carrying him early and giving him a little bit of a spot a soft LA. Ending to get his bearings and then become the player that he ended up becoming could very easily won the cons might trophy. They've not win the Stanley Cup without him. There's no question about that. Goaltending. It always been the problem. But at the same Louis Blues, and then it brings it back to Craig ba-, ruby somebody that Darren Pang told me was the major reason but early on. It wasn't a move that worked yogurts, fired incomes. The ba- ruby in November, but the team doesn't seem to gain any traction, but then this story comes out that a lot of the players, just didn't understand Craig Ruby's way didn't know who he was. Vladimir Tarasenko was in Russia. He never saw BA ruby play. So the assistant coaches put together video of all the fights that Craig Berube had gotten into in his National Hockey League career and all that he had accomplished in the NHL trying to let the players know this guy is honest, this guy's got credibility. He would never ask you to do something to wouldn't go out there and do himself. And that one all of the players that took a little while. But at one all those. Players over so they were able to connect with their new head coach and who I think, is gonna long-term head coach with the Saint Louis blues and put it together. So that was a major turning point for this franchise..

"They've gotten a lot of contributors. Of course, James Schwartz was so big in the series against Winnipeg. Vladimir Tarasenko is a flat out star. And he is a guy that can certainly carry it team. So if Tarasenko is gonna play this waiting at two goals last night lookout lookout. Now Bennington is a guy that is not as good as Bishop. I mean, he's a young kid. He has not been through this before. So when I look at the goaltending matchup, I think favors Bishop. But when I look at the offense when I look at needing timely goals bended get a goal last night, you know, Sagan contributes spats a, but I looked Tarasenko. And I see that kid is special that could be the guy that can lead the same Louis Blues to the promised land. So last night was Saint Louis turn to take the first step and they did. And we'll see if Dallas can respond to get home ice by winning game to in the the other game. Bruins and blue jackets kind of same thing. Very interested to see. All right the rust versus rest factor. Okay. Bruins played on Sunday. Emotional victory on Easter Sunday to be able to get rid of the Toronto Maple leaves. Of course, the blue jackets hadn't played in forever. And we're gonna see this happening tonight with the hurricanes and the islanders. I thought the blue jackets started a little bit slow. But as has been the case throughout these playoffs to the Columbus, blue jackets, they score quick. And sometimes they can score off them. So Boston gets the first the first strike in the game. The Chari gold is first of the playoffs and again championship teams. Find guys that are not always there studs. They get the job done and last night. It was a chart and was coil. Coil gets the game tying goal with less than five minutes to play in regulation. It was a killer. And then of course, coil gets the game winning goal in overtime. He's got five goals. What a great underrated trade that. The Bruins made at the deadline. Didn't get talked about a lot. But boy he has really contributed to the Boston Bruins run. And certainly was a major factor in their game one victory. The depend ski into boggles came very very close to thirteen seconds apart. But that was really the only offense that the blue jackets hat now, you could say it was because they hadn't played a longtime whatever. But I thought they played hard. They tried to hold onto abroad. Sqi was outstanding in this game. Made some unbelievable saves the. Bruins the rubber Adam thirty seven saves power play or thirty seven shots and ended up being thirty four saves. And you know what? Neither teams power play was a factor as both teams go for four hitting fairly even though the blue jackets blocked a lot more shots which John Tortorella team usually is going to do. So I can't overreact to this either. I still think this is gonna be a fun long series. And I'm not really sure if the rust resting really established itself in this game was the blue jackets slow start because they hadn't played in a long time. Or is that just credit to the Bruins playing a good solid style of hockey the Bruins of the better team anyway, at least on paper going into the series? So it'll see how it works out blue jackets blow the lead. But listen Bruins. I think the best team left in these playoffs. Now that the capitals are gone. So a good too. I games to get things started. So we'll keep an eye on the islanders in the hurricanes. Of course, I owners played in forever hurricanes coming up that emotional victory. And we talked about this a little bit yesterday. I don't know how to take. The hurricanes. It seems like when they make the playoffs. They make runs to six. They won the Cup. Oh, nine the last time. They were in the playoffs. They went to the conference final but hurricanes can ride away. I think this important first game to get for the islanders. I do. They've got home ice advantage. They worked hard to get it..
