"For life, which is virtual. Today. You can check out march for life that order It could be a participant in that, But it's about defending the unborn defending the rights of life, and that issue is under threat, not only the federal level but definitely at the state level as well. We got another piece of evidence of that this week. As the Virginia General Assembly moved to spend more money on abortions toe make it so that it is much easier to abort unborn Children. Let's talk about that with Jeff Caruso, the executive director of the Virginia Catholic Conference. Hello, Jeff. Good morning. Yes, right. On Tuesday. This week, Jeff. The House of delegates passed a bill to do what W R I C refer, report says make abortions more affordable for thousands of women in Virginia, making Virginia the first state in the south to lift a ban limiting access to abortion under certain health. Insurance providers. What's going on here and what they're looking to do? The bishops of Virginia issued a statement about the passage of this legislation in both the House and the Senate. Um, so many people have seen the statement by Diocese of Arlington Bishop Michael Burbage and Diocese of Richmond Bishop. Very nest out, and, um, these pieces of legislation as B 12 76 and HB 18 96 would indeed drastically expand coverage of abortion within Virginia's health exchange. Um are are fundamental stance on abortion related issues is that every unborn life should be welcomed in law and protected in law as well. And, um So with regard to abortion and prenatal care and alternatives, such as adoption, Um you know our our stances that health care that affirms every life born and unborn. Is essential. So, um, this Current, Um, statute was something that the Virginia Catholic Conference actually helped to create. 10 years ago. We were one of the primary advocates and the current law says that health plan Cannot participate when the exchange unless they don't cover abortions. Uh, there are exceptions made for the life, rape and incest cases. And those, of course, take a lot of people are familiar with theirs, or the hide exceptions. So under federal law. For the most part, taxpayer money cannot be used to fund abortions, except for cases of life, rape and incest. That's true, for example, in the Medicaid program. When it comes to these health exchanges, however, tax payer funds are used in two respects. First of all, they are used to manage these exchanges and second of all. They're used to pay for plans that many people purchased through the exchanges and in some cases, these plans are subsidized by federal tax money. S so so some low and even middle income Virginians. That would be, um, accessing health care plan through the exchange would be receiving a federal subsidy. So, um, The current policy, you know, says that, um, pant plans, um that that our access to the exchange cannot cover abortion. If this Law is repealed, which is is the way the way it's going through the General Assembly. Then these plans would be allowed to cover abortions for any reason. So so this really would drastically expand abortion coverage when you consider that There. An estimated 240,000 Virginians enrolled in these plans. And now each one of these plans would be allowed to cover abortion for any reason. Okay, There we go. Sorry, Jeff. We just lost. You wrote that the talent of your remarks there, But I know Beverly has a question for you. Go ahead, Beverly. So with this, and in these plans that you're talking about these health care plans, this is also means people who may be pro life maybe are against any type of tax funded abortion procedures will also be part of these health care plans. So if I'm pro life highly Of in Virginia. I could be part of a plan that's allowing this correct. Yes, and 60% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion. And and that's where, um you know this concern about tax money. You certainly comes into play in particular. Um you again the taxpayer money. Funds some of these plans and so the fact that these plans would now be allowed to cover abortion for any reason. Implicates tax dollars. Yeah, it be compulsory. They take your money out of your paycheck, and then they spend it on abortions that you find abhorrent. And you don't have any say in it whatsoever, except for your chance to vote again in November and try and change the laws. But in the meantime, ah lot of abortions could come and go, Jeff, I exit question for you. Why does Virginia still consider the killing of an unborn baby to be a double homicide? When a mother dies, and so does the baby, but it also is extending taxpayer funding for abortions. It? Certainly, uh Is not adjust policy. Um and it's um You know, with the policy that we've supported for the past 10 years in the exchanges, the the, um you know would have has protected a lot of unborn lives and we're very, very disappointed. That you know, 240,000 Virginians that are enrolled in these plans. What would now be, um, under very, very different sort of scenario. Now it's incoherent. It's homicide to kill an unborn baby in Virginia, But also they're going to use your taxpayers tax dollars to fund abortions across indeed. Thank you, Jeff. Jeff Caruso. Good to have you with us. Thank you very much. Thank you. All right, 43 w e mail.

Adam Johnson in Florida was arrested Friday night he was quickly ideas on social media and had posted about being there. A man who sat in Pelosi's office chair with his feet up. The man apparently seen on video, leading a mob up the stairs chasing a loan officer who tried to hold them back. Then there's West Virginia state lawmaker Derrick Evans, who posted video online this bumping with a police officer. He was arrested. Meanwhile, Seattle's interim police chief says two officers are on administrative leave and under investigation after being seen on social media there. I'm Julie Walker, and we have information tonight. The Derrick Evans, the West Virginia delegate, has now resigned his position there still so many questions about what would wrong leading to the breach of the Capitol building wt Opie's Alejandro Alvarez and Ken Death, He sat down to talk about Some of what they saw during their coverage outside the building. This is a crowd that for a very long time has embodied pro law enforcement sentiments back the blue right The thin blue line and yet you know, in the span of a few weeks, we've seen them completely turned against law enforcement. It's evolved from the more extremist elements of pro Trump groups like the proud boys to just, you know, more mainstream trump support that are now beginning to Defect away from supporting law enforcement. That's the vibe that I got last night by and I saw it too. I mean, you were right at the front lines when it was all happening for sure. But eventually I was able to get up there. Close is well, right when they were starting to bring in reinforcements and pushing back the crowd with stun grenades and such, and when that was happening, we were on the northern end. The Capitol building when they sent out the flash bangs and push people back. But that crowd there. Began to turn on police like he said, and started chanting trader. I mean, it was really remarkable to see that shift like you said, where now they saw them as the enemy that they were siding with the far left in their minds, and that it was really striking to see that shift, because Law enforcement. They were simply doing their job to secure the Capitol building. You think that they would be supportive of that? But in that moment again when you're in a riot situation, they just for help them. I'm getting in there and getting their voices heard, But they did not care who they were talking to, or who was gonna get in their way. "A new normal Once the pandemic ends. Michelle Morello w T. O P knew the Virginia General Assembly convenes this week. January 13th. The breach of the Capitol building has certainly shocked the nation as the entire world was watching the events unfold, but on the ground itself there many questions about how and why a rally spiraled out of control into a riot. Wtlv scan. Duffy and Alejandro Alvarez were both at the scene covering a day and nights events. When you're talking about a riot, there's that riot mental Already when it's a full blown right and heading to The U. S Capitol building of all places. You know who would have thought that would happen that everyone's has that mentality of just flat out insurrection, just getting inside that building and also just getting out their anger over whatever they're feeling and just not thinking about what they're doing, really, And it's really It was a scary situation just all around. Thinking about what people were thinking in their own minds heading to that building? Yeah, There was one point when I turned around to face away from all the events happening at the You know the front lines of those of them. Bailey and I looked back and I saw exactly what you described this. You know, just people, thousands of Trump supporters who were not directly engaging. In the fighting the police, But we're standing there and Washington's if it was some kind of show. Right, And this crowd had clearly come from the rally was the whole lot of them because the crowd size was the same size is what I had witnessed back to the White House, if not bigger, and had come to the capital, and they were witnessing their colleagues going at the police. The vibe there might have been different further back to where I was wandering around, which was kind of Between the very front of the action to the middle of the crowd. People seem to be actually supportive of the pushes that were being made. You know, I heard repeated calls coming from both the bleachers and the crowd move forward. Push forward K trees is what they were yelling all the time. And, you know, like there were kids there people. Some people brought their kids because I guess they had gone to the rally, then moved back to the capital. And they were staying there as the flash banks were going off, which was just completely Surreal to me and you know somebody at one point Ah, woman behind me, she yelled. Oh, we've been nice for too long. We're fighting the police. Let's go again. That's wtlv, Alejandro Alvarez and knw on their first hand view of those riots on Wednesday by 44..

Jennifer Carroll Foy: Lets run and win!
"Jennifer welcome to the PODCAST. How are you I? AM good good Thank you for having me. Here of course I'm so excited for everyone to hear from my plus one from the she. The people list and learn why I just had to choose you. First question is winded your love of politics begin. Believe my level of politics began when I saw that. Being in a position of power away to make real change, and so I was just you know, gripe all the time about being in traffic traveling, you know two hours to go twenty miles and Why are schools segregated employees funded? And you know trying to help my foster children, and there's so many a deficits in the system. And why weren't anyone speaking about? These issues got frustrated with those things that I wanted to be a part of the solution to solve a lot of these problems and I figured out with early that politics. Politics is a way to do it. That's the way that you are invited to the table and Your brother's decisions are being made, but we're definitely GONNA dive into all the amazing work that you have done, but you are a laser in so many ways. You became one of the first black woman to graduate from the historically. All Mel Virginia Military Institute, which just Kudos to you I did Air Force Junior ROTC in high school. That was enough for me, but what made you apply? And what were you thinking when you got accepted? So I applied to Virginia. Military Institute because I was watching the Virginia Military Institute. Supreme Court decision on TV. Them is one of the top military colleges in this country, and they spent millions of dollars to keep women out of doors. And when I was in that high school classroom I remember hearing men in the class. They think like women don't belong where fear your. We can't run as fast as hard and we're not as smart. And I remember hearing justice. GINSBURG say basically that women can do all things if given the opportunity and I agree. And Tokyo's men that I'm just smart and just as capable and powerful as any man in that class, and I mentioned. So is that that time that my best friend? He was going to go to west point, and he walked up to me, and he said I'm going to go with you when you go to them. I because I want to be there to watch you when you fail. Even dough right? We were friends. Don't forget them still female and therefore interior. So I looked at him, and said challenge accepted. And, so he went to BMI, so did I and other meal in our class. And when they got their head shaped ball, so did I and they gave me a management for 'cause. The might have changed any of his standards for women. And actor years of marching wedding and bleeding beside over a thousand male cadet. Out of the other two men who with me to be a month, I'm the only one who of us walk across that. Virginia military stage, and so that's what I would lie and that's why I'm happy that I graduated succeeded. Oh my goodness, so we know that was not the first time he had to deal with men. Telling you that you couldn't do something. It wasn't your turn. You also experienced this. When you ran for office when he ran for Virginia. Delegate, you were not the quote. Unquote preferred candidates by Iran. Anyway you did our emerge boot camp. You are my emerge sister and you also ran your campaign while pregnant with twins. So tell everyone just the whole story about when made you WANNA run running for office while pregnant and just the entire experience of knowing that you were the best candidate to represent your district. Yeah, absolutely, so I decided to run in two thousand seventeen, because you know I was just tired of the partisan politics and the divisive rhetoric that was happening, and I always thought. How could we lack someone so bigoted and racist and xenophobic and homophobic to the leader of the free world and I knew then that we needed a response to talk. We needed a response design of politics that were happening in Richmond where they were trying to pass. A transactional ultra sank town bill and they put politically. Politically motivated and medically unnecessary restrictions on women's reproductive health care, or they weren't fully funding education in a way that makes sense, and so I decided to do something about it, and being one of the first public defenders ever like Virginia. General, assembly when I was practicing as a public defender I just saw so many of the inequities in our system, and how we have a two tier criminal justice here, Virginia one for the wealthy, and by themselves out of prison in one for everyone else. And, so I knew I could continue to be you know a community organizer in foster mom, and do all these things to help the community and fight against that laws, or I could become a delegate impact. Good one. So those are the things that really put the fire and leave me in order to for office while pregnant was not just one with two baby. And you know run against what was pretty much. Thought is as the establishment candidate who had all the endorsements? He outraced me four to one, and it didn't matter because I knew that I was the better candidate, and even though I could. I would be outraged. I knew that I would never outworked.

Fairfax accusers break silence in Gayle King interviews
"About Justin Fairfax for Lieutenant governor of Virginia. Although all of the top three Democrats in the Commonwealth have weathered their respective political scandals the heat, we'll get turned up just a little bit more this morning on Justin. Fairfax as one of his accusers Vanessa Tyson takes to the airwaves on CBS this morning. That's right. The morning show. Gayle king doing an interview with Vanessa Tyson today tomorrow accuser, Meredith Watson, we'll have her say as she joins. Gayle king for yet. Another interview on CBS this morning, a sustained assault on Justin Fairfax in his credibility as he has tried to get past the scandal of sexual abuse allegations by both women, very interesting turn of events. Gayle king being the one to interview interview them in bring this back to life resurrecting, so far the media has. Done a yeoman's job of ignoring this and putting it on the back burner and covering it up and nothing to see here. Keep moving keep moving because that's what they do. They do that for the Democrats if it were Republican, he wouldn't even we wouldn't even be having this discussion because he would have been gone a long time ago would have been done. This is almost like a slow. This is slow burn here. And Gayle king turning the heat up. I am shocked at this shouldn't so surprised. Why why do you think she's doing this? I just think I don't know. I don't know what the answer to that is. I did see some conservatives who were happy to see that a mainstream outlet like CBS would be willing to give airtime to the accusations. When it seemed like they had survived it meaning that Justin Fairfax had gotten past it nominally. But here you have CBS and Gayle king trying to do their part. Let's see let's let's withhold judgment until we see how these interviews are actually conductive, but here's a little bit. That CBS has released of the Vanessa Tyson interview ahead of the head of the actual broadcast. Particularly for survivors. I think this is incredibly important they need to be heard. We need to be seen. Right. And we need to be treated as the human beings that we are Vanessa Tyson. She was the one who allege that Fairfax had assaulted her at the democratic national convention in Boston in two thousand four this the famous convention where President Obama I made himself gave himself a national profile in that big speech. She came forward in February and is in contact with Suffolk County district attorney invest Suffolk County district attorney in Boston to explore legal options. She wants to testify before the Virginia general assembly and she wants just in Fairfax to resign. I'm curious about this. Like, what does she know? What what is the thing that would satisfy her resignation from public office or that he never hold a job ever? May. What is the thing that she wants? I think some kind of acknowledgement that she actually existed. Is making these accusations because it's like the Keith Ellison story weighing we've carry Monahan, she was begging for someone to take her seriously, and nobody did and the media ignored her and she was ignored yet. Christine Blasi Ford was front and center with all of her accusations from how many years ago thirty some odd years ago being treated as if they were gospel. So I think that these women feel that wait a minute. You're telling me about hashtag me to that. All women are to be believed. But not me why not me. And I think that's what you're seeing. Here is these women want to believe too. If if it's all women will be believed. And that's what you've told us. The the realization that it's only some women who will be believed. I think is pretty startling and hurtful. If you're in the situation, and so that's what they want. They want. They want their voices heard. That's why. Well, Fairfax for his part says that their encounter was consensual when this all happened in two thousand four that wasn't forced oral sex as she
