Sloppy Liverpool tumble again in loss at Brentford

"Brentford continued to move up the Premier League table with a stunning three one victory over a very sloppy Liverpool squad. Ibrahima Konaté's own goal off a corner kick in the 19th minute, put the bees ahead to stay. Johann wiesa doubled the lead with a header just before halftime. Prompting Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp to bench Virgil Van Dyke for the second half. Brentford climbed from tenth to 7th in the league just two points behind number 6 Liverpool. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored for the reds, who lost to Brentford for the first time since 1938. I'm Dave ferry.

Faes scores 2 own goals as Liverpool beats Leicester 2-1

"Liverpool managed the two one win over Leicester without netting a goal. The red scoring came off the feet of Leicester defenseman Wout foss, about 6 and a half minutes apart late in the first half. Foss is the fourth player in Premier League history to score a pair of own goals in the same game. Liverpool fell behind when kiernan dewsbury hall took a pass from 50 yards out and split Andy Robertson and Virgil Van Dyke before beating Allison, but Liverpool earned its fourth straight win and pulled within two points of fourth place Tottenham. Lester remains four points clear of relegation. I'm Dave ferry.

"Gotta go. When you gotta go, you gotta go. You gotta go. I don't know. Sometimes you have a big goal, and you expect it to be 90 minutes, not a 120 minutes. You've all been there. But Argentina won this game three times. They were two nil up. They lost that. They were two nil up in the penalty shootout. They lost that. And they won, but only just the tone of the game was summed up in this photograph, taking seconds after that final penalty winner. If you're listening at home on the podcast, it's essentially the Argentina players storming off in celebration, but taking time to stick out tongues like a 5 year old and poor funny faces and a Dutch team shattered by defeat. We still don't quite understand. There was a confrontation between Messi and Edgar David, essentially Nick's ball's 1993 level crap with Virgil van DIJK trying to play the role of a Dutch Charles Oakley. What do you make of this? Because this is unsavory, malicious. It's petty and it gives a slight stink to the whole affair, David. Don't understand why the Dutch guy is doing the plank in the middle of this whole thing. That seems like a very odd choice at that moment. But just what's so funny about this is it's the Dutch. You know, that Michael Caine joke of like, I've only agree on what one thing in life. What is the quote? And one of the things is like, I've never liked the Dutch. It's like, it's funny because we were intolerant of other people. People just and the Dutch, right? What's funny about that is that maybe Austin Powers too is really big in Argentina. Is that no one has ever disliked the Dutch, except the RG's, they can't stand the Dutch in this moment. And they've just qualified for the semifinals of the World Cup. They're going to either the final or the third place game, which we've discussed before. Maybe even bigger. And they're taking a moment not to celebrate that before they celebrate that moment. They just want to give it to the Dutch. And I respect that. I think that's absolutely

"I don't know. I don't know if he's ready to go. Then an international coach, do you think it fits his stuff? What are his club titles? No, he's got no time. But he's got much more experience there, at least there's more data to evaluate. So he's got no club titles, but he's got more international experience. More data. I don't know how it attractive he'd be for other for other entities like a Bundesliga or an era de vizier or premiere, whatever you want to whatever the case may be. What I can tell you is pretty evident that Greg burr halter may be very keen on this. He bent over backwards during the World Cup qualifying process to a lot of these European clubs. When the sporting director of wilsberg spoke out against John Anthony Brooks, he took him for his work. When Gio reyna was heard at Dortmund and they didn't want him to play much, he did the same thing. When Thomas Tuchel was worried about Christian political participation with the U.S. miss Nash team, there goes Greg berhalter again, bendy over backwards for these clubs. He's obviously tried to maintain and nourish these relationships. For what? Well, if you're angling at a job, there it is. Okay, so what are the kind of things that was said at the very beginning of berhalter's tenure? Actually, Carlos Cordero was still in charge. He talked about the style that Greg berhalter would bring to this team. And I think beyond that, there was this idea that Greg berhalter and this young group of players could change the way that the world views American soccer. I want to get Jeff's opinion on that. I want to get hurt your opinion on that. But first of all, let's hear an exchange with Virgil van DIJK from his press conference earlier today with a journalist that might just kind of inform us on what the rest of the world thinks. The 5th game in the World Cup Netherlands he played with the strong team with the Argentina. What do you think about this game? Because before we play, the team is not strong enough. Yes.

"The back line because that ball is one higher up the field. Not all the times, but a lot of the times. But if Shaq said that intensity is not there for the 90 minutes anymore, and that's putting more pressure on the midfield and more pressure on the bike lane. Yeah, and it's top four. Now what Liverpool should be aiming for? Well, absolutes that I should be aiming for that. I think it's too early to write them off on everything, but they have to start defending. And I'm with Craig there because sometimes you say the defending start from the top from the strike as a striker you always say, yeah, yeah, yeah, but just try to defend at the back. But what I think is a big concern for them, try and Alexandra Arnold. We know about this weaknesses, but what we didn't know about the weakness of the vehicles and Dyke. I mean, this season, as we would say, that started at Fulham. Remember mitrovic had a had him in his pocket in that game. And there is something about his positioning. There is something about his cleverness that is just being lost at the moment. And I think that a lot of this insecurity you see at the back now is that your minister of defense Virgil van DIJK is out of it and I think that in fact the other players at the back though, which are young lads who Robertson or Arnold, what Sam is a Van Dyke Louis I think he's a couple of things now and you can see goals, of course you're going to look at the back and you see that they are a man of judgment right there when he's mad when he was your Gomez. You would point to the Joey Gomez now is not there and then we have to find bandai because Marty did a good job but also he's not Robertson then so when you start seeing that this is not the team at in defense as the level that we are expecting we try to find or blame the one they are not in the best form. But it's a group of things. It's our team from when the guys are talking about the intensity when you don't have that intensity in the middle of the park. The players who are facing to you, they have time to put the ball in the best position in the best moments in the best runs. And then you put in danger, the center, the center back. So in that kind of moments I think the Van Dyck is struggling because the partnership that he's got next to him is not adapting well. The players on the right areas, they are not happy well. When one goes forward, the other one stays, they got in between the me feeling and the defense is so high. So all those small details are things that they're going to have to work together, but Van Dyck pointed to Van Dyck. Because now we see that they have conceived, but the game finished two, three, two, four, Liverpool, no one is talking about Van Dyck. We are talking about amino in the goals of his school. Meanwhile, of course, Graham Porter left Brighton to go to Chelsea and he registered his first Premier League

"Dyck, but off the back of this, it would seem, not just this game alone, but off the back of the list trashing in Naples, clearly there was a lot of criticism for Alexander Arnold in the back four. Including Virgil van DIJK and as you said, he started carrying on not one again. Carbon. About X players and how they've forgotten and blah blah blah. And it seems to me, here's a guy that has had enough praise to get him to the moon and back and rightly saw because for the most part he's been brilliant, but yet there's period when he himself has not been great, and he hasn't marshaled the back four very well, but it's not always been his fault, seems to be smarting a little bit from the criticism. And I thought that was quite an interesting interview, not that there was a lot of what spoken, but it was just his reaction. I mean, there's clearly a BT didn't even ask him about the criticism. There was no question about it. He just brought it up. So clearly it's in his mind that he also said, well, you know, we don't listen to what they say. Take notice of what they say. Outside these, well, clearly, it does. And it was just interesting to me that there's a guy who has basically had all the platitudes in the world and leather pull off a rocky road of which he's been part of and clearly he's been smarting a little bit from that criticism. There's no doubt about that. Does that help or hinder going forward, Stevie? And. The problem, when you're playing, you don't understand what goes on in the media. Basically and shows like codes. You don't understand that. And if anybody, whether it's in the newspaper or on a TV or in an criticizes you, you don't like it. Because you're prickly. It's not easy to coordinate a day. You know what cake said is right about he said all the plaudits, but it's difficult and they call it a day when you have planned to go, well, if I had a lot of plaudits, so I should be able to take the criticism. That's just not how you're wired. If somebody criticize you, you want to get them back and you want to show them every single time. So I guess in some ways, that may help build your van date because clearly it got up his nose. And you know what? If that makes him go back to being the Virgil Van Dyck that we praised, then that's fine by me. But at the end of the day, if you don't play well, you just got to make sure you play it well because people like cars are going to talk about you. Whether it's good or whether it's bad. And the other side of that coin, Stevie. Disjointed, that she had particular. I know robots are. I'll tell you what, I would love to, I would love to have had club in the dressing room because the things we are seeing, I think, compared to what clock should have been sent in with a dressing room. The things we have seen are nice. Because you know what it's laying addressing and when you play that badly and the whole bike lane is as bad, I'll tell you what you he better have given them a rocket and I'm sure he did. So and then we see small change to what klops going to say to them. Do you think he needs to get Matty pineal again long term with Van Dyck and say, listen, we've got to start building this back four again, get back to what we're doing. I know the right injuries, but just that looks to me for a long period now. It's been my tip and Van Dyck as the preferred 100% I would a 100% everything that'd be an equal being. But that's a problem. I mean, how many times does mati played two or three games in a trot over the last two or three seasons? I bet you there's not many. And so that is a problem. I agree a 100% in Van Dyck as the best partnership that they have, but my teeth can't play. Not regularly two or three games in the trough. You just can't do it physically. So let's take a look at what that victory means a further group, obviously, first points of Liverpool first drop points

"Be different. You look back when I left Celtic and 99, bonzi was shocked a couple of months later. It wasn't a couple of days. And you kind of think I should have hung on a little bit. Right. But it is what it is. A couple of days is a little ride, a little friend. It was quite Gabby. What do you want to say? No, the funny thing is that the story that's doing the rounds here in London about the Billy Gilmore move was that remember Tuco's like, yeah, okay, Gilmore's not in my plans. Short, we can go ahead and sell them. And then the story is that Tom boley, obviously knowing that he was going to sack Tuchel because remember, this wasn't a knee jerk. This is something they've been planning for a long time that he supposedly tried to persuade Billy Gilmore not to leave, but Gilmore thought that two whole would be around. We have no chance with two holes. This story to me is so bizarre that I simply do not believe this because in the end, it's bullies club. If you don't want the guy to leave because you know you're planning to sack two hole, then he doesn't leave. Simple as. Nobody's forcing you to sell him to Brighton, which is why so many beds of this narrative about two Osaka and when they find it and whatever. To me, just are complete porkers and just don't add up. Wow. I believe the multi billionaire, multi multi. Multi multi. For Mario. Is the perceived lack of form for Virgil van DIJK calls for concern in the Netherlands with the World Cup just around the corner. Oh yeah, of course,

"Play regular because he had a broken leg or a broken ankle by the injury. Had looked good up to that point, still on the youngster. It's Van Dyck money, isn't it? I mean, transfer fees have gone crazy. We talked about that in the show, but Virgil van der had already played in Holland, he played it Southampton. He played at Celtic and had come through, not old. Before Samson, but had built a bit of a career and then Liverpool and then snapped him up for, I think, 75 million of their boats, this is not a kick in the backside of it for a youngster who is a very talented young player, there's no doubt, but he's been out for a long period. I think played only 7 games last year. But that's the market we're in, so big opportunity for him, but no guarantee it's going to work. He's still quite raw, is that fair to say, natum? Perhaps, perhaps, but he's still a very good player and I think I can see why Chelsea will be interested in him. Obviously the sea itself raises some more questions. But as I say, I think he's I think he's a very good player. And I think ultimately for Chelsea, they're going to be betting on his ceiling. And he still is very high. You know, this can be a potential future international, you know, somebody that could help Chelsea win the league and the like and even if he doesn't necessarily hit the ground running and stop playing the ton of games this season. They're not signing for 9 months or ten months or whatever it is. You sign it for multiple years and the belief is it will get better year in year out in the infrastructure that they have. So I think I understand it and it seemed like one of those areas which it needed to sort of shore up four Chelsea was at the back and you've got Thiago Silva for as good as he is. It's not getting any younger, so now you've got somebody who maybe you could take under his wing and who knows maybe impact he can have can be a significant Thiago Silva's in the future. How highly do you rate him Ian? Well, I think he's very gifted. He's quick across the ground. He's alert for a defender. He's very well regarded in the game as Craig said he had that very bad injury which kept him out for a long time, but yeah, Charleston need to sign top quality defenders because they've lost rudiger and they've lost Christian and Thiago Silva is not getting any older, but this is kind of part of a scatter gun approach I think by Chelsea. I think they might be even busier in the next few days as well. They seem close to signing Obama Yang and they seem pretty close to signing Anthony Gordon from Everton as well. So keep watching this window. How much of a game changer Shaq is this signing with regards to Chelsea's prospects

"What's really up to him, you know, you have to challenge yourself. You have to realize that it's not enough. And you have to make sure that even if you have a talent, even if you gifted, you need this and the heart. You know? And unless you don't realize that your head and your heart will do the difference, especially when you work and you play for Liverpool, which is, again, what I said before, part of the genes of the club when you have to give everything like you're about to die, you know? And it's what we love about that last decade of Liverpool. Do you have to give 100%? You have to make sure that you did give 100% and then you will get back to the close to the best that you've been and for Van Dyck that would be what you have to because you are defender. You have to react. You have to lead. You have to show the example to new players, as well, and is the leader, easily of the defense. So he has to deal with that and make sure that he comes back to basics in fact, you know? And the basics of the defender is to give everything to help the team to win. What's wrong here? For this Liverpool performance. First of all, the first thing that struck me is how poor they were against Manchester United. And I can't believe that Liverpool's somehow lacked motivation going in going into a game against Manchester United. Though the dominated possession, they really lack pace and any real cutting edge. To your question about sadio money and his emission, more times than not, when Liverpool were the best, he would come in off that left hand side, which is where Louis Diaz is. And for me, simply hasn't been anything like the player, we've known for the last couple of seasons. That is a big issue for Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp. A lot of the other departments, I don't think that different Liverpool have never gotten a lot of goals from midfield. It's always been about that front three, but they've always been fairly secure at the back, Virgil van DIJK has never been the type of defender that's thrown himself into challenges or blocks. His strength is reading and anticipating and getting there. And maybe because of the injury he's just at half a yard short, but I just know that he's a little more

"And Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah had chances, big chances noon is a two really good chances. And they didn't score. Would they have like 17 shots in the first half? Yeah. I mean, the XG was pretty much in their favor. And palace pounced on their one opportunity. Not Philips who I didn't think Joe Gorman should have started, but that Phillips gets caught out and Virgil van DIJK for some reason doesn't read the danger that if Zaha goes past him, he's in brilliant finish from Zaha and then I thought the red after the red carrier thought Liverpool were excellent. The Diaz goal was just superb. I never pull fought so hard that I actually do agree with clot that it was a good point. It was a good point in the end. Don't forget Zaha hit the outside of the post on a breakaway, but Liverpool went for the game with ten men, which I think is a good sign of any team. But to be to give to drop that many points, four points already, I guess a team like Manchester City and the bigger tighter race is not good. "Yeah. Transfer dealings. Is what it lands on JJ. So we got a few here. Some have been confirmed. Some have not. We got a few here. I'll just roll through a couple of them. We'll start with Liverpool, Darwin Nunez. Goes to Liverpool and initial fee of €75 million, it's been agreed to with 25 million in potential add ons. I saw Duncan castles refer to those as quote easy add on. So I would say expect this to rise to a hundred. Okay. That is if I'm going to take him at his word. Well, Duncan castles who often delivers the Manchester United side of things. He calls it easy. I don't know. Okay, Duncan. We don't know what they are. All right. Well, I'm going to, I'm believing him. That's all right. Go with all dunk. This is amazing to me just because we talk about keeping a squad fresh. Like this is how you do it. Like this was a team when I looked at Liverpool a year ago, I did not look at their front line and say that there's a week, there's an obvious weakness there that they need to freshen up. And here we are a year later, and they've added Lewis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, two of the biggest names that they could have added. Like this is how you make sure that things don't go stale. This is just a fascinating transfer for me. And I'm not sure what whether like it's not whether I need to be convinced or not, but so what strikes me is it's outside of the Liverpool model the amount of money that's being paid. Liverpool generally don't pay that. Well, they've done it when they felt like they needed to. They spent a lot on Allison. They spent a lot on Virgil van DIJK and how did they, but how do they pay for that? They paid literally cash the check from Coutinho and then went and spent that will happen again because Sadio Mané is going to leave. So they can make sure they know that. But I'm saying, when they feel like they have a position where they need to spend big on, they do it, and they've always done so wisely. They've been a huge move been behind their trophies. It's just been four or 5 years since they've done. It is a little bit out of the pale for them to do it. It seems as if a very soon reaction to what Manchester City did down the road with Erling Haaland. And just the type of player he is. Now, I have not seen enough nar has most Liverpool supporters to be honest, which of Darwin noon is the part when he played against us and did quite well. To know exactly what we're getting here. Like we can watch as many YouTube videos as you want, but he is a departure from the striker or the forward attacking player that we've been buying regularly. So even in size, I mean, he's 6. He doesn't look like any of the guys. He's 6 foot two. Automatically you're thinking, is he going to play more centrally? But then some of the tape I've watched of him can actually come in from either side and be very, very effective. He's more mobile than I thought. I'm fascinated by this transfer. I really am. Liverpool never really been aggressive in getting this player a player was on the radar of Manchester United and other top European clubs. I mean, once I guess Liverpool entered the fray, there's not hope he's going to a team who aren't in the Champions League. That's not going to happen. But there was a general perception that this is the next big striker. In European football. I don't know yet. I really don't. Now, I think what you said about a response to the Howland signing is interesting. Yeah. Liverpool are not usually reactionary. I feel like they are comfortable marching to the beat of their own drum. And I'm not saying this won't be the beat of their own Trump. Down the street. That is almost impossible to keep up with, but Liverpool have done all. Have done amazingly well, so far to do it. And I wonder if there's maybe a slight acceptance in FSG that we are going to have to really push the boat out. To go again next season and to get close to city, if particularly if the Harlan signing clicks. Is this also then? Is this maybe not about next season? Like, I'm not saying he won't be a factor next season. But are they, are they covering themselves for if the sala thing doesn't pan out? And they lose him. Is this cover for that? I think it's an acceptance. It could be. It's a cover for all three of those forwards. They're all 30, and we know what Liverpool do, the short term contract, don't generally like to extend it. We've seen players leave Genie win Alden when we felt he was irreplaceable. He had to go because of that's the system that Liverpool operate. I just had a nightmare scenario in my head of oh, yeah, this is the point I wanted to bring up. If you look at the last two months, Andrew of Liverpool. And the way Salah fell off and the way things seem to be a grind and trying to get results against Tottenham and couldn't do it and seeded the league championship and everything seemed to be much tougher and not taking chances in the Champions League Final. This seems to be as much of anything as a reaction to that, meaning we need more firepower. We need different ways to win..

"Madrid are going to win the Champions League. Because of robots crossing. I got that wrong, by the way. It's not about what it looks like. It's how it tastes. Are you a chocolate croissant fan? No. No. You've just been, you know, you tried garlic fried rice here the night. You've been trying to watch that. Baby steps. One step at a time. Well, I know a chocolate doesn't like a chocolate croissant. Upon the show. All right, I'll bring you one in. See what you think. Right, please. All right. Cook it. What? Do you find a French pastries? I tell you. This particular way of figuring out who's going to win the Champions League was bias and skewed from the very beginning. This area, to be honest with you. There was no chance that Frank was ever going to listen to anybody to tell him how to make a croissant upon the chocolate. I can sense him. I can see him. I can picture him, just ignoring whatever he was being told and he's like, you know, I'm Frank liberals. I won the World Cup. Huh? What Friends? And you're going to tell me how to do this? Surprise, I'm surprised they actually produced anything. Because it was just talking so much. I'm surprised to go in and done. They did say he didn't listen to a word. That's what I'm saying. Whereas I can picture stewie going step by step and you know how he was looking at that dough and he was like rolling in and it was everything was very exact. There was no hope for Frank in this particular competition if you want to call it that. Frank even told the woman who was the expert that he knew better than that. Yes. Yes, that's what Frank's like. Chance. So this battle didn't really mean anything then, as you can see, but one battle it will that I want to touch on that we didn't get to is the battle between Virgil Van Dyck, especially with the fact that he's had a bit of time out to rest ahead of this final and Karim Benzema. How do you see that one playing out? Well, we always say it's easier to defend as the attack. And so I'm going to go with the Virgil Van Dyke. You know, the one thing with Van Dyck's injury is that he doesn't want if people run and then behind them. And certainly Benson was not going to be doing that. So the one thing that veggie van date does not want. To help. Everything else he can deal with, whether it's Benzema or anybody else, so I.

"But I've got to get this out. This is just gnawing at me. It's just eating me away. I was super bloody nervous. Really, really, really. I'm so freaked out about this agent rapha thing. I kind of felt that if rapha started a wooby, we'd know. We'd know Dave, we'd know that he still works for them, but he didn't. He's too smart, that double agent, Liverpool. Huge respect, actually failed in the strong side. There will be derbies I imagine in the future when Liverpool kind of roll out their carabao cup side was united used to do to us in their poem. They play there. They're lesser players. It was deeply humiliating. And Jürgen Klopp talking about how it would be difficult for Virgil Van Dyke to forget what happened to him on his last visit to Goodison Park for the Merseyside Derby, which caused one of Tony into tweet. God, it was a goodness and Derby. It wasn't a tour of Vietnam for God's sake, but it was all super heightened. And it will admit, I was so confused in that pre match handshake davo, where former Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez, shook hands with what I hope his future ever to manager, Jürgen Klopp, it was just too many wheels that have been wheels, too many layers, David. Yeah, it was tough to deconstruct. And then it wasn't tough to deconstruct from kick-off Everton. It just couldn't compute Liverpool speed, the movement they're passing. Honestly, it could have been two now inside two minutes. My teeth sour missed chances when it would have been easier to school up or too quick too smart to bloody good at football. And then the tenth minute, it happened. It was almost a relief David on the football score. And I've got to be honest. Yeah. Now I have to admit, rod, I only watch the goals in highlights quickly before we went because I was taping jeopardy during both games, but in this game. Which jeopardy. What's jeopardy? Jeopardy is a television question. I didn't know anything existed outside of the football. Let me tell you why. You just want me to have to tell you what happened Manet slipped in robo robo said. Who half rhymes with my surname? Hendo. And they've just rushed to the left of the day. He'd been denied a bloody winner in the last game by this time he wouldn't be denied the ball came out fantastic finish, just the way Arctic menacingly lethal. He clinically bonus for Liverpool fans, the face plant by our landers the ball went in and the cytokine punching the air, catching Benitez his eye and stopping mid punch. Which somehow made it feel all the bloody worse I do know what jeopardy is. It's a thing that raph is jobs in. Oprah always says, turn your wounds into wisdom Everton. Just seem to turn their wounds into more wounds, Dave. And sick of me because Liverpool won't even play that well. They made so many mistakes across the backline, but there was still utterly. The strewing is evidence try to push forward, bless the Maori, didn't know how doom we were. No one had told him he kept trying what was wrong. Why are you trying tomorrow? It's all in vain. But the more we push the more we love space and if you saw the highlight today, though, you will have seen this sell like goal. And I screamed at my television. By the way, I knew we'd scored the second hendo pass in the book. I screamed at the television. It's like a car crash wasn't a goal. It was a car crash. You could see coming a mile away, but were powerless to stop. What a finish. He is fleet of foot. It's a blur sometimes. It's tough watching him in live action. You almost have to wait for the replay always to see what really happened. One of those old 1970 sped up car chases in the French connection. It's amazing the finish the way he opened his body the way he curled the ball into the net at this point, two no down, I'm like Natalie and brugler. How a faith this is how I feel I'm cold and I'm shamed I'm lying. Naked on the floor. Do you watch me? And wonder what Chelsea would be like if you'd only kept him. It would be good. Would be really good. You'll be good. Yeah, but it'd be good. But I wonder if this is good. Would mow have developed into the player that he became by leaving Chelsea? By leaving Marino at that point, the hero's journey. I mean, you can't be hypothetical about a history Rodgers really the answer but goodness and became a cauldron of Hesse's and booze, the Liverpool fan singing rapper's name. I felt so defeated in this moment. But the game changed briefly, Liverpool and Everton to turn the game into a bit of a dark art scrap. It was hand to hand stuff. And it just broke up, Liverpool's flowing play. I think in the military, they call it a regular warfare. And that really muted Liverpool's menace for a spell even Rondon certainly was up for it. It was like seeing an old grandpa and they leap out of his chair where he's not moved for 40 years and say I can walk, I can walk I can play football and out of nowhere Everton drag themselves off the cliff edge where we've been hanging precariously rituals and kill the pass towards demari gray who held off trend Alexander Arnold. It doesn't do the defending. And thrashed the ball through, Allison, I was stunned just like stunned. You know, on one hand, Liverpool could have been 5 one up at halftime. On the other, as at same old voles reminded me old dad's adage, it only takes a second to score a goal. So the beginning of the second half, they've Everton went for it. And I did let myself begin to hope. I did. I did. And the question is, why? What body of evidence.

"D as nipped in with two goals to put ac milan. Who were if you saw the way. They started this game there at six at seven they were. They were arguing with each other trying to figure out who should be where liverpool ripping through them but they found a way to be to one up at halftime and much to the kind of shock of downfield. Cronin no doubt your klopp well but liverpool came out in the second half and Or rig who had been a surprise selection at centre forward played in a lovely scoop chipped. scooper chip. Jj make up your mind. I'm gonna say scoop. I haven't seen it again pass into the into the path of Saleh who finishes. I mean just brilliantly. Ball hops up goalkeeper hesitates for me. He on bad are but effects it. What the outside of his boot wylie's mid air flicks it home. That's that's party. That's too and then jordan. Henderson buries a volley nice goal. Reminiscent stephen girard on. It's the right result. Liverpool were the better team but it was pretty incredible to see The way things turned around and to watch virgil van dyke on the sideline hoping for arrest which he got rolling his eyes at the second goal. Going in like what is going on here. It was it was that stretch was fascinating. It was it was crazy. It was absolutely crazy. Was it was interesting to gauge who supporters before the game and their general bemusement at a really being picked at centre forward. I was of the same mind. I'm like what's he doing. But then i thought about it. Santa is at a pretty busy start to the season. My what's up. Saudi omani do the sonic. Some of money has had a busy start to the season and had a pretty pretty involved game against leeds on sunday. So it's only a few days later so give him a rest rotation's important so mine is oh for has the hamstring problem. And then you're looking. Well who else can occupy that place. And it's literally only a region like liverpool are still like they're now could mean command and you could play three with saleh jota and oh. Yeah but it's you haven't got that kind of center forward presence Maybe for me. No doesn't really give you that kind of does he's he's been able to grow into the role or ricky's the only other one there now. He's the only other viable option. And it goes to show you I i still think they're like an attacker. I know jamie kyra hussein. He would like to have seen a forebear coming into the club in the summer. And it didn't happen Also shows that it's liverpool are in my tip and gomez of two excellent center hives but they are much more likely to make errors or mistakes. When virgil van. Dyke is not there But i have to say it's another really really good performance from never you know. i know. They conceded two goals. But it's another good performance from them and I i'm sure top is very pleased. And he was on the original thing. Cloth had an interesting comment about arabia. Afterwards i don't know if you saw this because i guess liverpool you would know better than jay but did they wanted to move him on Yeah they they. They wanted to get rid of them in the summer. Get rid not the right word. Move him on in the summer. But it's it's an interesting. It's kind of a paradox. Because klopp is he says about and the there was no interest. No one had any interest in riga and after the game. Today klopp said. Obviously people don't watch football enough as a comment supporting a reiki. But like it's just weird because like his support of It's for a guy that he has no had no use for really at his club. Just was i found it kind of like an interesting almost contradiction. I thought so too so so in a depressed market. What about you. Are you watching enough like that. What about yeah exactly. So what do you expect. An in a depressed market jurgen. You're expecting it to obtain pay for player. That doesn't play for your club that rarely gets on. I mean he hadn't started a game in six months. I think i think that's correct. That's what The commentary team said Tennessee said it's just amazing that diva caridi. Like when it's all said and done for whenever it is that he does leave liverpool. He's gonna leave with a really nice highlight reel of of major majorly important goals that he has scored for them. It's very interesting it. it really is You can't say he didn't. He hasn't contributed over these past three four very good years for the club because he certainly has Was another point. Oh yeah just just to give you an idea. The dominance of the pool in that first forty minutes they had thirteen shots inside the first fifteen minutes That is ridiculous. It is absolutely ridiculous and in fairness. Milan did well to rally and get themselves ahead. It's unbelievable kestler midfielder. Just absolutely i've never seen a player. So flustered at the start to begin. As as casey was trying to figure out what was going on in fairness to milan that they tried to be Didn't try to pack the boss but that ended up meaning that there was lots and lots of space for liverpool them yes followed start for liverpool and a not not a bad start from line. If i heard dea said afterwards you know I'm mad because we nearly could have beaten such a great team like liverpool which shows we can play at this level that remains to be seen. But they'll be heartened from from the way they finished the first half and from a couple of.

"I mean you have to say yes. Virgil van dyke was probably the best central defender in the world. Before your engine. I think if you look throughout the team nicholson much quality throughout. They all getting little old together. They have still looked really good. I think and i was hoping to games space if he is going to be a real challenge against chelsea this weekend chelsea as we really really good themselves so this is one of the first games of the season. I've been really looking forward to being able to assess the relative strength of some of these title contenders livable necessarily as team. This is going to be able to hang with chelsea and city all season. They do have the talent in i. I think to take on any team in that top. Four or six win. Their attacks still firing shots independently far. This season and our parents have expected goals as well. It's whether they can win the injuries. Calm when champions league mid week and when their suspensions go through that kind of rough period and the wind up do they have the debt arsenal. This legendary club have been bad for a lot of years. Now let's just call it like it is. They've now started off losing two zero to brentford a club. That many fans have probably never heard of the big time for the first time in seventeen years the pudding thirty and then getting absolutely hammered by chelsea two zero team in genuine danger of getting relegated. Is there any hope on the horizon for arsenal. Probably going to be probably three teams worse than last year. I think it would be incredible. If they did get relegated. They probably just have too much quality to really think about that. But you have questions about when going for me the amount of money. They've spent this summer to not get obviously much better. Really perplexing asks have agreed a deal in principle with sheffield united goalkeeper in rahmael initial twenty four million pound in england international but that could potentially rise by another six billion pounds in don million on browns all leaper who might be able to challenge make sense song many q. The transfers decision ben white. The defender has moved from brighton to awesome for an undisclosed fee on a long term. Deal the undisclosed fee. We understand to be fifty million pounds and the long term is the big question. Mark is called right now and said all he comes on like he was an awesome player. He was also planning. He was a captain leader. And maybe this is the guy who's going to ten us round but what we've seen from mcconnell chauffeur suggests that he's anything poised to being up to the task of also manager has to realize i that That the position that we had in Is no where we want to be on. We should not accept it and just them trying to use the moment and the challenge ahead of us as an opportunity and gear on how to play like conscious doesn't necessarily translate into execution of that plan so this is a huge club with a massive budget. But yeah i just. I don't see the hope for them. They've got some aging players. Like obama hearing of nakazawa on big contracts extended some of the young talented call. Call your soccer meals. Make all those plans. But it's much more about that makes you scratch your head. And lastly add. We have a two sample size here which seems totally sufficient for making a prediction. So tell us. What does the table look like. Thirty six games from now when it all wraps up talked about i think city and chelsea probably separated by two to points who finishes top to come down injuries city in chelsea finished third fourth fifth places and really interesting one it might be and then needs to these people and i think the bottom three. You have to be knocking Norwich new costly gonna struggle again. Crystal palace wanted to go down. Can Liverpool Snap Their Slump?

"Liverpool coming off a result midweek in the champions league thought when we focus on their league form not so great. They've lost three straight for merely outscored eight to two in those matches. Stevie the league form not good but can we throw it out the window based on what you saw. Mid week. Leipzig to be honest. I'm gonna base on scene from evan. Rather than what. I've seen from liverpool. I think we know liverpool. Golden played good football. Hopefully they're going to create. The question is what we take chances. And kinda and that's been their mantra. I think this is over. Evan up until i go a bed the smaller and looked and looked to see what had been said for months. You'll autobahn and use a kind of changed my opinion because i was very comfortable when i went to bed. Before the fact that culvert loons black. You've got allenbach. You got hamas who. I think we'll play as well. So they've kind of a as well as liverpool getting a little bit of a kick from winning against light shake evans going to get a little spot as well for most three at the same time. I don't think is going to be an awful thing. Liverpool will take it a business. You mentioned what carlo ancelotti said. You're in club downplayed this earlier but the reverse fixture of this is where virgil van. Dyke got hurt. We'll liverpool's players be thinking about that. Is that at all a factor in this absolutely not liverpool of other things to worry about right now with those vendettas. And when you stop doing that that affects your game when you start worrying about getting a kick it somebody or gone around and tried to get one on the that's going to affect you as you said liverpool too many other problems where they can. They can do things so i i don't think will have any whatsoever correct. Speaking those other liverpool problems basically been a coin flip over the last couple of months which liverpool we get and it's not really between good and bad. it's between feast and famine and look. There's a clear fight for the top four here between a few teams what one of which up until a couple of games ago look it might be able to make still be but clearly live for sure. I'm not going to catch. Set has been questioned whether anybody will catch them but settling from where pearl are so. There's a clear fight for the top. Four and i think they'll be buoyed by their performance and mid week but i'm with stevia. Initially islanders probably going combat but he's lacking much shoppers. Rodriguez is a talent. But he's not particularly away from home. A place like lever put and going to get the ball here because everton do that home in a way. They often the lawyers for as what liver poke can do with an ev. You know the such a hard team to read it. Belet lasted in a sense. Have lost some crazy games as she are still up there. Everyone had i think the three games in hand up until a week or ten days ago and then they lost home to fill them the loss home to set these kind of expected. The hong end then brushed aside. But i could see lever. Pull getting a result here purely going to dominate the game. And i think eventually it will break down. Of course they're gonna watch learn these pace and behind running the johnson. That's a weak point for liverpool at the moment. But i just feel with us. Top four limited as real. Fight that lever pill get the job done here and could run together to get themselves in their shock. Everton haven't beaten liverpool since two thousand ten have one at anfield since one thousand nine hundred ninety nine. This feels like as good a chance chances. They're going to get ride. No all records falling as far as liverpool is concerned in particular over recent weeks. That format downfield. Now i'm different from the voice. I'm sitting around the fence but leaning everton. I just feel as good. A result was against rb leipzig. Maybe a little bit expected especially given i felt. I thought i'd be like coming into this. A little bit light up front and maybe not threatening liverpool anywhere near as much as you would thought but with covid louis coming back. In particular that make centre-half paramount liverpool will be relying on on henderson. I just feel about their goals for forever time here and as a see i'm sitting on the inside but leading everton i just don't see a liverpool win.
