"vinnie johnson" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"John salley, sitting in for rich eisen right here on the rich island show and you can check it out on Roku. We got to thank my man Romani Jones for coming on. Great great guest. And I'm sitting here, you know, because we're filling in, and I'm wondering, different things to say, a different way to come up, right? And so I was thinking, this is a good thing. This is what happens when you think. Why don't we talk about Steph Curry? Why don't we talk about clay? And why don't we talk about the Golden State Warriors? Do you think that run and that dynasty is done? Um. First off, first off, are they a dynasty? Yes. Yeah. 1000%. They are. Okay. They got four championships in a, what a 2000 and 16? They won four out of 7. They're done. Yeah. Okay. Go into the final 7 times. Yeah, they've been awesome. Yeah. We don't talk about them right now because they're 500 team. And Steph is hurt. Yeah. And how quick it can change. It can change so quick. I did, I went over to my boy Dana pump, always gets me on these cool gigs. And we went to this high school and over like he had a, what do you got? What do you call it? Yeah. Right? And I've never been there. Me either. Right? And you go around a mountain and it's a brand new Beverly Hills. I was blown away when I was there. And Jerry West was the 82 years old. I'm telling you, Jerry West looked maybe 60, maybe, and this is the craziest thing, is he goes, yeah, I put you on the Lake as 23 years ago, and I looked at him thinking, wow, you're 82 now. Jerry West, I'm telling you you couldn't tell. Couldn't tell that this guy was 82 years old, still moving fluid. Still paying attention to the game, knowing these different guys going. And I thought about Jerry, I was a big Jerry West fan. I still am when they start talking about the greats I always mention them. He went to the finals 9 times before he won. Yeah. Almost in a row. So imagine what his summer was like for 9 years. That is trauma. That is trauma right there, losing. You got to go to the you got to go to the grocery store. I go to restaurants, people throwing your food at you, overcharging you for milk, all kinds of things. The things he had to go through that we couldn't even think about going through. I saw what a WNBA was talking about, they should be flying private. Maybe they should fly private. I couldn't imagine the NBA player now. Flying commercial like we used to fly. And I had to sit with Dennis Robin and I had to sit and coach. Exit row, right? No, the good days we were right behind first class, and we had a seat in between us. It was the way I learned yoga, because I can put my legs and it all kind of positioned. Just sitting in that seat. And I just thought about it like all the different things that we had to go through to people don't think about. And then play a game. So there was more distraction. You fly to I flew in Oakland. First time we were flying in Oakland, I can't wait to go thinking I'm going to San Francisco. No, I'm in Oakland. And they don't tell you that. That you're in Oakland. You're not in San Francisco. Right now you go, you go to San Francisco. Oakland. And we check it to the hotel. And the first thing Mike Abdel, my man, Mike, what's up, Mike, I'm now a trainer, everything president, everything. Mike goes, okay, this is when you get off, you're going to grab the balls. Because I had to carry the balls, we brought our own basketballs and we had to carry, I had to carry Adrian danley's bag along with my bag and Dennis Rodman had to carry the VCR and some other things. And he goes, when you get in, walk straight to the lobby, you don't talk to anybody. When we walk through, it was pimps everywhere. And I'm looking, hey, young fella, come here, a young fellow. And they were like, and I'm walking through, thinking, did I just see in the lobby of the hotel? So that distraction. I left so many things in the lobby. Where's my keys? I left my keys. All right. We're going to take a break from radio. Pretty rich eyes are so. Talk to you in a bit. Hey, but we're still a Roku, which is by far the newest in the greatest channel there is out of the 275 channels. What would have happened in a minute? Maybe not a minute topic. What would have happened if Dennis Rodman punched out Joe dumars? Would have never happened. One Joe doesn't talk. Even to this day he doesn't talk to us. But if he would have punched out the microwave, like what would have happened? That wouldn't happen either. Vinnie Johnson is one of the strongest people I've ever met. Dennis Rodman is the strongest person I've ever met. He's because whatever planet he's from, he's from a different planet. I'm telling you he's an alien. He is an alien, and I'm saying it first, so when the apocalypse happens and then Dennis Robin is the president. But you understand my larger point. Yeah. One, one, it doesn't happen that way. On our squad, the only person ever got into a fight was Isaiah and Tony Campbell. And everybody against Bill NBA. Mark McGuire, Bill and bear is the only one that had any scuffle. We really didn't fight in practice. Sid green, yes, it green. Rick Mahone. It depends when they got tired. When the older fellows got tired, they would start something, it would be a scuffle. And they'd be like, I break it up. Foul shots, 5 shots. They knew how to get out of practice. Yeah, but we didn't fight like that. We definitely was a team. Was a family at that time. All right, John Sally here on the rich eyes and show would be right back.

"vinnie johnson" Discussed on The Officer Tatum Show

"Nobody cares. Your ideas are dumb. And we don't care to argue with you. Go ahead and push information to the soft heads of these grown babies. They go to college and waste all their money and go into debt with no knowledge and no education, no real life skills. We don't care. Why is it why is it so important to them to try to thwart the things that we've done or the things that conservatives espouse, you know, in this country? I don't understand. Vinnie Johnson was another one I just saw a video Benny Johnson is sharing on a teleprompter, just funny videos about Democrats. This is what he does. And he had a video with Kamala Harris doing a word sandwich that she normally do. The word salads that she normally do. And some black kid goes up and kicks the projector screen on the ground and scream racism. Because he don't have a daddy. I can tell you he don't have a daddy the way he acted. He screened racism and runs out of the runs out of the classroom. I mean, these people are nuts. You know, I have a couple speaking engagements to go to and when I go to the next Turner point, then I really hope nobody get bold enough to do nothing crazy while I'm there. Because they're going to be on ESPN, none of the hit of the day, and I don't play no games. So let me get to some people who are calling in. We got John from North Carolina, welcome to the occupation show. Hey, thanks for taking my call officer Tatum. My pleasure. Well, I just wanted to say, I stumbled on to your radio show a few weeks ago and the profound wisdom that you share on there or especially on the level that you shared. I listened to quite a few people being a construction guy and having to drive around a work truck. But on the level that you presented is perfect for what I call a layman or just a simply common folk out here and haven't been a previous officer on the street. I think you know exactly what I'm talking about. And you could probably hear it from the north, but it's like you always say no more did I because I'm in the south down the board and I choose to be born in the north that I choose to be white, but you come down here and be in the northern and you get cold all kinds of stuff, but anyway. I just want to say, yeah, well, that's the thing. I want people to know, if you go say anything, you don't get to choose your race or gender. That's just how God delivers you. It's just like, you don't get to choose who your father or mother are, but that doesn't mean how your life should be. It's what you make it. So it's the choices you make as a free man as a free will and a free spirit. And that's why that last segment you played motivated me to call in by someone you refer to as Paul and I would love to know more about that, so 'cause he spoke above what I'm used to, but I still fully fully grasp what he was saying. But the way you say it, people misunderstand that there's more people like us that have been there over 50 now and grown up through all that up in Newark and I just didn't want no part of it. It wasn't part of me and I didn't want it to be that way. So I left and but I see that America's in for some tough times if we don't get out in November and make the difference. And even then it's still going to be uphill battle, but I'm glad there's people like you and especially I think it's Carl Jackson and truthfully just forward Yale might, but like again, I didn't choose it, but you didn't know more to be a black man, but it's going to take a black man speaking the truth like you are to get any ground with most of those liberals because they instantly are going to scream. Oh, look how bright white your ass is talking that way. And but with you, they're going to have to reshuffle huddle and try to come up with a new game plan for the truth and wisdom that you're spreading. The bottom line is we're supposed to be American first and humans and just help each other out. Life is hard enough and I'm glad to hear you're out there. They give I listen to call Jackson coming on for my main guy that's really retired, but it's just in gears, I call it. And Carl Jackson filled in for a bit. He tried to run for going around in California and I'm sure that was rigged. But I'm sort of blank with his name. No, Larry elder. Larry elder. There he is. And that's another brother from another mother, but anyways, I just want to say thanks for holding the front lines. What you're doing is tougher than people know. And I just appreciate you as a black man being able to say all that you do because it's going to take someone like you to be able to get through to the liberals that are adopted, trade the Kool-Aid, whatever you want to call it. John, thank you so much for the call and thank you for the kind words. Thank you. It's funny that people probably, people think what John is saying, but they won't say it. Let's just talk about the elephant in the room. It's gonna take minority folks to step up and speak out. You know, just like before, when black people didn't have a voice so they were invalidated, there was good white people who stood up. Good people of other races who stood up and said, look, I'm going to speak and I'm going to protect my brothers and sisters and I'm going to tell the truth about what's going on. And I think now we're at a time where they've shifted the wave against white people and everything a white person say is racist and all this other stuff. However, it's going to take some black men and women to step up and say, no, this is wrong. Calm down, call me a racist. This is wrong. You can say whatever you want, but wrong is wrong and right is right. And I'm going to stand up for my white brothers and sisters just like I was standing for anybody else. You're not just going to call people racist just because you feel like it on a Wednesday. We got to keep it real. And I love what I love what John said and I really

"One's actually like there's something special about him. What's interesting about Booker, I did a bunch of pods with Durant. I probably did 6 and two years with him. And one of them, he started raving about Booker and Booker wasn't nobody at that point. I mean, he was a lottery pick he was on the suns, but the team stunk. And I think I asked him something like, what young players on your radar? Or do you think might have it? Who might have it under the and he was like, Booker. Went on this thing. You were an exporter. You played for 19 years. You were born too soon. The three point line would have made you probably an extra 100 million bucks. But do you feel like the guys who played, they see something, there's some sort of DNA thing that they can spot that somebody like me couldn't spot. Yeah, you know what you see, Bill as you see a call. You see like, a guy that understands the science of what his craft really is and in regards to dissecting this game and that's the score. He is always on balance. That's one of the first things that I saw with you. That is always unbalanced. And he rarely takes really bad stocks. Like, you know, if you're a score, you're going to take that shot. But if you watch Devin, he rarely does. But what also makes him unique and you agree with this, because I know you remember watching Ricky pierce play. Oh yeah. Is Ricky pierce love to have contact with each other. It was just something about a guy very close to you when you took your shot. And that's Devin. I mean, it's like it forces him to maybe concentrate more. That's why he probably gets into it. But when I saw that and then just the way that he approached the game and how respectful he was of the game. Like a lot of guys aren't respectful of the game. They don't know the history. They don't respect the players that they watch growing up. You know, in Devon has been all of that. He's been, I mean, he's been in my ear since he's been in Phoenix. And that's the value of where he is now. You know, and obviously Kobe took it to a new level when Kobe befriended him. Yeah. And he has just professional, man. He is one of the most professional players I've ever seen and that's why he's I love your contact point. There's like Vinnie Johnson was like that too. He needed to have somebody like basically in his Jersey and that would when he would really get going. There's certain guys that just they feed off that. I think it's something Tatum is learning how that's one of the ways I think he's gotten better this year is beating guys off the dribble and kind of keeping them on his side and knowing how to use that kind of stuff against him. The COVID thing with Booker, you know, they were beating into the ground during the playoffs last year. You know, he's not Kobe. But I think at all the guys we have now, I think there's the most kind of Kobe chromosomes floating in his pool, right? He does stuff, first of all, as you said, the competitiveness and the commitment to the craft and things like that. The fact that he doesn't take terrible shots. Kobe went through that stage, younger Kobe, when he did take turns of shots. That got better as he got older. What are the other similarities? What about like from an alpha dog hanging out in a room standpoint? What is that like? Well, yeah, I mean, he is a loner, so to speak, but this team is very close. So he's opened up now because of that. But I'll just give you something else. Well, he is relentless. Talks a lot of smack. Which I love. I also smack talker. I love that. Yeah, that was your era. Yeah, it keeps guys all balanced. Love it. But also what I love about him is he like I said, he understands now how to lead. Yeah. Like, you know, these guys always open his house. He's always in the middle of them in the midst of them. And now he understands that now that he said 8 positive things to them that it's okay for him to say some negative things. He just understands and give credit to, I think, to his upbringing. Carl's dad raised him as a basketball player. And I think that plays a role in it as well. He's special. I'm not going to say this. And so people understand why I'm pushing him because he is special. He's going to be better. And I think people are having a hard time with it because you know he's 6 four 6 5 and that's the average height in the league. We've seen guys come in the league and they can score and all of that. He has another level to get to. He truly does and he showed it when Chris Paul went down. Yeah. That was 7 cents. People don't think he can pass. He can pass the ball. He can operate in the two man game. It is a level he can get to that people have not seen. Yeah, and even beyond the assist, what impressed me about that stretch was he was kind of game managing. You know, it's one thing to be like, okay, I'm now going to dribble the ball up and I'll throw you the ball, but he actually and Tatum had something he developed to this year, this ability to kind of see what the defense is doing. They're going to play probably Brooklyn and round one. And Brooklyn's just going to trap the shit out of him from 40 feet, right? And I think he's going to be able to solve that as a series goes along because his hoops IQ has just gotten better and better. I see the same with bookers. His feel for the game has gotten that. I'm sorry. I'm so proud of him. Yeah. He knows it. No, he knows he doesn't have to take 25 shots. Right. Like I was trying to tell these young guys, this is the guy that played a role. I started my first four years, but after that, I came off the bench and I made a living at it. And like I tell these young guys, man, it's a science and scorn. You don't have to rush it. If you get the minutes, you will get your numbers. Right. I mean, that's just the beauty of it. And an all time great figure that out. You can go to any old time breakdown score. You will see. If he gets 30 minutes, he's going to get his average because he understands how to do it. Well, ice was the best example of that ever. I think back then when you went to see ice and person, they didn't have the scoreboard with the points..

"You should be coming off the bed you could come in at both guard spots, your interchangeable, you could do a lot of things. Sometimes the ball in your hands would play off the ball. And at the time, he's still young in his career and of course all guys at that time have such pride that, no, they everybody sees themselves as full-time starters for their whole career. And so years later, a couple of years later when he bounced around a little bit and then settled in into this great 6th man role and I think the first 6 man of the year award was in Atlanta, I did tell him. I reminded him. He laughed 'cause Jamal's got just great self effacing quality too. He laughed, said yes, you're right, you did. So I'm taking credit for that. I'm taking credit for Jamal's 6th man of the year awards. Thank you. I mean, it's funny. So many guys resisted and still resist to this day. You know, becoming a 6th man, which is wild. Like not only is it a huge part of team success, but it has become prestigious in a way. It always has been, frankly, I mean, go back to Vinnie Johnson and in this generation, the Jamal Crawford's Lou Williams like, I look at players like Carmelo, who it took way too long for him to accept a secondary role. And even right now, Russell Westbrook. I mean Russell Westbrook isn't like, I don't know if you'd have the same success as a Crawford or Lou Williams, but it kind of fits him, though, too, doesn't it? Like Westbrook coming off the bench playing against second unit guys where he can play either guard spot, his defenses of that big a liability in those situations like just embrace it, man, you'll be able to enhance the twilight of your career. That's what you're more Crawford. If Jamal Crawford said, I'm a starter and that's it. He would have been retired like 8 years ago. It would have been it for him. Instead, he was able to have a long career rack up a lot of points, accomplish a lot of things and make a lot of money. At the end. So I don't get it. More guys do what? Let him be an example to the rest of you. Boosters provide stronger COVID protection for everyone who's 12 and older and vaccinated. Boosters mean fewer people who are seriously ill or hospitalized, and far fewer needless deaths. So if you think about it, when you get a booster, you're helping us all stay in the game. Be part of the strongest defense against COVID..

"9 months. And B, betting that hard and can bulldoze his way to Philly and see, he's a 33 year old superstar who's been 20 pounds overweight for the last two years and now this is your guy. Sink or swim. If this doesn't work out, you're shot. Well, ask you again. Do you feel bad for Joel embiid? Because I sure do. In 2018, the spring. There's an extended moment during game 5 of the Boston Philly series when it be destroyed the Celtics for three solid minutes. I was there. Couldn't stop. Even worse he knew we couldn't stop him. He was looking at the fans, making faces, the whole thing. It's a helpless feeling when that happens. When you're enjoying a playoff game in 18,000 Friends and suddenly, the night turns into a horror movie. An unstoppable villain emerges. He can't fend him off. He can't do anything. Kareem Andrew Tony Dominique, Vinnie Johnson, Isaiah, MJ, Kobe. Wade. LeBron. I've been in the building for a few of those. Tony was the hardest one. Game 7, 1982, couldn't fucking stop him. Murdered us. Killed us. Had to trade for Dennis Johnson just to make up for what happened in 1982. LeBron was the bleakest. Game 60,012 over by the second quarter. You always know when it's happening. And in that Philly game, way back when 2018, you could feel it happening within B just for a couple minutes there. And then he got tired and the moment was gone. Is that a different level now? Better shape, more polished offensively, ready for the biggest stage possible. But it's not happening in this season. Not unless there's Ben Simmons situation. Miraculously resolves itself. Don't hold your breath. There's some emergency here too. And B is 7 foot two close to 300 pounds. Basketball as we know is an unforgiving sport for big guys. We know this. We know from Yao from Walton, Odin, Samson, sabonis, countless others. Giant human beings aren't really meant to run and jump on a basketball court for 3000 minutes a year. The odds are against them. Always. So how many more healthy and bead seasons will we get? How many more years will indeed be poised for greatness? Will the weirdest and most improbable career of any 21st century and be superstar? Just keep getting weirder and more improbable. You can't even say it's part of the process anymore because this isn't a process. It's just weird. It's Joel embiid, age 27 in his prime. With the odds working against him. Yet again. So how can we tap the greatest round two? We've ever had for the NFL playoffs. Well, with the conference championships, and FanDuel sportsbook cooking new customers up with 30 to one enhanced ads for either conference championship at 5 to win $150 on any team to win either conference championship game. Just take a favor, take the chiefs. I'm gonna have my $1 million picks on Thursday, but when in doubt, take the chiefs over the Bengals..

"This is not really going to be effective if we don't actually implement it. This is actually very important for you to take a stand record. The Lakers are the team encapsulation of the well actually guy on Twitter. Yeah. But yeah, it's just a matter of actually you and Sean talked about this last week on the watch pod about Succession. There's a lot of laws that exist. And only the ones that actually, you know, are used in practice matter. So it's like a good moment for the Lakers to put on some pressure. So the Lakers, the Lakers are actually my number one early season trend that I don't want to see go away. It's my the thing I want to just keep going throughout the season. I know this isn't good for Lakers fans. But right now, successions are like you mentioned. Narcos, Mexico, back for the season finale, Yellowstone's back. I got all my TV is on. But the number one show on television right now is Lakers fourth quarters. It is the full Tapestry of human emotion is on display during Lakers fourth quarters. I never wanted to stop. Can I just run through some of this stuff real quick for you? Let's do it. Cardiac Lakers just never get hard medication, guys. As of Thursday afternoon, the Lakers average margin was victory lost like their games are coming down to about less than a point. They barely be Memphis, they go to OT against San Antonio for a win. They collapse twice in the fourth to OKC. They beat Houston by a bucket and their last two games against the hornets and the heat at home have been decided by three points each both of which went to OT. Last night, or the recording this on Thursday so Wednesday night's game against the heat was fucking curb your enthusiasm. It was so good. It was 5 second calls, Russ he checks. Malik monks going nuts. Guys are throwing the ball out of bounds. Guys are colliding into people. Anthony Davis can't get a post up, but winds up getting like 14 rebounds in the last 5 minutes it seemed like everything is happening. They're beatable on every night. They can also beat anyone. You know, I don't know how long LeBron is gonna go out and be out there was the rumor that his abdominal injury might be like a month or something, I just want this to continue for as long as possible because it honestly feels like March Madness every night. And even when they win, I don't even feel like they feel good about it because they almost lost all the time. Yeah, there's just tenor with every Lakers game that's just like, well, we still need to be better than this. It's good that they see that. The last thing is that he was really funny because it was a game that the Lakers kind of should have controlled pretty much the moment that Jimmy Butler sprained his ankle. And there were a lot of reasons for the heat to lose. They just weren't really shooting well all game. They were creating a ton of open threes. It took like a pretty bad Tyler hero night, which we don't really see as much of anymore. And the sprained ankle, it took like bam just having like a really awkward force. And the heat were just kind of like here, take this game, take this game. Let me let us let us miss about Denver. It took it was funny to watch the Lakers come back because it was like, guys, this should have happened a while ago, but you just have like, you know, it's like it's just like the late Russell Westbrook experience. Yeah. And then, you know, I know that they have they're missing none. They're missing LeBron. They're missing ariza. They're missing Austin Reeves. I think there's a couple of other guys hurt. They played like 8 or 9 guys against the heat. But out of the chaos a hero will rise every night, it seems like it's either Russ, triple double, but almost quadruple double with turnovers. It's last night Malik monk, apparently he had to have LeBron explain who Vinnie Johnson was dim, which really touches my heart. Malik monk island is a place that I've bought land but have yet to develop because the architectural plans keep getting rejected by the city planning commission. But I'm really excited to build there. I've lived there for quite a while. He's exactly who I want to see going off in Lakers games early in the season. I know that later in the year it's going to probably get all figured out and it'll be AD and LeBron and Russ and rondo and mellow or something. And it'll be like, yeah, you guys are kicking ass, but I don't know. While it's crazy chaotic like this, I'm really, really, really enjoying the leakers experience. Yeah, it's honestly, it's a really good watch just between like, you know, you get like Frank Vogel just really frustrated on the bench and then you get also Anthony Davis, just man, there are games when you just don't know what you're there plays you just don't know what you're going to get with him. He's just not really, I feel like Lakers fans are pretty frustrated with him. He's forgotten how to shoot threes. And he still likes taking them, though. Yeah, oh, love's taking them. Love taking the mid range jumpers and yeah, it's just like you just don't really know what you're going to get with him. There's moments like last night where bam kinda got the best of him. And just like everything, everything around the Lakers is always just a little bit more interesting. And then you bring in somebody like Russell Westbrook, who is always just been so polarizing. You never know what you're gonna get. It just creates a really unpredictable experience. So it doesn't like there's nothing wrong going on in LA, you know? That's kind of the strange thing with all of this. This is all very much exactly what we expected. You know like Westbrook being able to win them some games with LeBron has actually born itself out. There are times that it does work out. But it is the Westbrook experience. So it means that there's many times that it might get to, you know, they might win the next two games. It might be 5 and three, but there's gonna be there's always going to be a regression. In the past in the more recent years, like the last couple of years of the AD LeBron experience, there was a feeling of inevitability. So even if they're down 7 down 7 down 7, you're just like, they're going to flip the switch AD is going to go to the 5 LeBron key end. This is over. You know, like that's. But with Westbrook, it's like, hey, maybe this whole place will turn into a flea market. Like, who knows?.

"Now we didn't finish on those plays when he didn't get fouled that he does not have a ton of explosion. He's reliant on that foul drawing and in college of course that was propped up his efficiency a lot as well but he does have good craft and pick and roll. It's just doesn't have great natural vision and he also doesn't have the type of get on top of the defense so facts that he can force emergency help and have openings created. That are so obvious that he can take advantage of even with his limited passing ability but there are chances for guys to evolve that way in the nba me. He's still seems like he's going to be kind of a vinnie johnson. Ask sorta score if you had to peg the most likely outcome but certainly within the realm of what we thought he. He came in. Did everything that you could ask them to do. Basically led summer league in scoring average about thirty four point per thirty six minutes and did it with relatively decent efficiency or some of his top line numbers. Before we move on. I mean the counting stats were ridiculous. 'cause cam thomas averaged twenty seven points a game in four summer games but twenty seven points on twenty illegal temps nineteen point five thirty six percent on six threes eighty five percent on about ten free throw attempts per game but only as you mentioned two assists as a little bit over steel little bit over. Rebound so yeah. He was very productive but also was doing it on on high volume. Let me see if i can pull. I believe real. Gm does do true shooting fifty fifty seven percent. I got it in front of me here but yeah so he was twelve hundred. Thirty three on jumpers off. The dribble didn't really get any catch and shoot looks which is something that he might get more but he did drain the ones that he got an knows able to take threes off the dribble in pretty impressive fashion. 'em so again. I mean he. The judge i gotta in. Can you create the space against longer defenders. Can he get this foul drawing going still which props up as efficiency again without that he would have been well below average in terms of efficiency. And you know we know it again that summer league. This is the type of player a bucket getter off the dribble who is set up to sign in or shine in summer league with the relative lack of structure. Who else do we talk about here on the mets so the other prominent player to that we wanted to evaluate is derived sharp sharp. Another one of the guys that went to mumford with cade and with moses moody and with johnny barnes the fourth i believe maybe fifth by before first-round pick from that group bigeye six eleven to sixty five and what was the twenty nine th pick in this year's draft and what i the first thing that struck me about him was what i would call his high level of nurse show where it took sharp a log time to get going and i think part of that is. He's a big dude but another part of it is that his his reactions is instincts. Were a little bit slow so like if he needed to get out to a player or if you needs to change ends it just it. Didn't he once he got moving. He moved okay but it just took him a little while to get started. And i think some of that will hone with time not only the physical development that nba teams do but also the mental development. That big men have a lot that they have to do. But i think when i saw on what i saw that it it made me think that it might be a little while for until he can make an impact on the nets. Unlike him thomas. I think can step into something pretty quickly. So he's not like a caleb swan again type of pick like it's not that bad justed at again we're who can also the problem that he wasn't necessarily as good at the things that they wanted him to that he's supposedly was good at but just in terms of structurally what he is as a player. It's difficult to see fit into the modern game and another guy that i thought of. Of course another great rebounder out of north carolina because sharp. That's the one thing he did do it at an early rate was a rebound and so i thought that that look great i mean what did he have. Fifteen offensive rebounds and like Over four games in eighteen minutes game something that that was really impressive. Averaged had fifteen offensive rebounds in eighty minutes blood at eighteen percents rebounds which you know that would lead the league But the problem is so the other guy compared to also a great offense rebound. Was tony bradley. But tony bradley's a lot bigger longer than dare on sharpe's and bradley can affect guys at the rim defensively when he's position sharply. It's like a seven foot wingspan. And i agree with you. Gotta loop bit of skill putting the ball on the floor but he's not blowing by getting separation. I mean maybe he can get stronger and kind of bully guys around a little bit in the post. But i didn't really see him As having much explosion he really struggled to finish inside for this player. Type fifty one percent shooting as poor took a couple of threes. Maybe that's something that can become a part of his game eventually but you just gotta wonder like how does this guy survive offensively. He's not really explosive off the pick and roll. I mean he's got wonderful hands and that's part of why he gets all these rebounds but other than rebounding i just i can't say i really saw him show much in these games on. It's gonna be fascinating to see those this run at the end of the first beginning of the second of bigs in some variety so you have sharp sante Todd robinson neural and like generally speaking. You know like i have a i wanna want from biggs and todd and some of the other guys can play the four as well and we'll see how those picks workout compared to some of the smaller guys that went a little bit after that Also note that sharpe's he's also nineteen right now. He'll turn twenty pretty early in his rookie year. Subtleties h twenty basketball references. In anything else on him on move on now. It's a kessler edwards second round pick forty fourth overall Went to pepperdine two years so he's also pretty yankee. Well he's twenty one. Already abe's age twenty one season and he's going to be on a two way for the nets in you know like i. I mean i think that he had some showed some athleticism at a couple of little athletics sparks. And i think the big question for me is going to be. How welcome he hits shots because if he can hit shots than there might be something there with that and we'll we'll see here is power ford size. You're just under a seven foot wingspan. Six foot eight. I thought he was pretty explosive. Off a to fifty at one big dunk over a guy where he took off a almost from a block. That looked pretty good. Shot is this. It's not quite kevin market martin because no one will be kevin. Martin hit with their shot. But you know he kinda really leans forward shoot beginning Down by his stomach But was able to shoot from deep and looked comfortable for out there but this is a pick that in contrast to sharp i understood the point of it right. He got athleticism at least some shooting potential. And if you could make that guy into someone who can move his feet and defenders position shoot threes and then finish around the basket when he gets set up. You know you could do a little bit of attacking off the dribble at this point in time. You kinda get that sort of a player So anything else. You wanted to add on him now. I i didn't really have anything else we can. We can give some stats on him. So oh yes at the concern for me. I mean when. I brought up like if he can shoot was that also edwards didn't do great from two. He was thirty one percent from the field. Overall and four games thirty five or sorry thirty one percent from three thirty five percent from the field and so you have to convert that old but some of that was. He took some shots..

"The association because this nba free agency frenzy has been a fun one to follow the lakers yesterday announced that they are signing carmelo anthony. I don't know if that took a lot of people by surprise. Obviously so many people familiar with the relationship between lebron james and carmelo. Anthony drafted the same year. They ben pals. They've played together on olympic teams. They've played together on all star teams like in the east back in like two thousand twelve ish round there but never on the same nba team. So it's obviously a big day for them but the lakers also signed kendrick. Nunn they resigned. Taylor horton tucker this on the heels of course of westbrook this past weekend it seems like mellow and westbrook or a ring chasing right now not an issue with that though you told me you don't like the ring chasers. Well not so much not so much like westbrook right. Because i mean he he he was traded right and he's still making a bag right. Carmelo right veteran minimum knowing that he's better than last year but knowing that he's better than that right. Yeah at one point. Carmelo was on the streets and people they know if he can play in portland kind revitalizes his his position because when he was in houston he thought he still was a starter and that class with everybody else. They're dantonio already had a short lease for him because their history so he got rid of him and you know he was out of league month and we didn't think that carmelo can play. But he's the subsidies row. He's a great insight. The microwave vinnie. Johnson comes in and he's gonna get buckets and he's a guy that can come off the bench and spark your team but you know at this point for him to play for the minimum and go jump on the best team to me. That's ringing chasing. Shades of karl malone and gary payton and i got an issue with that. Because you know he's going to be a very small part on if the team wins the championship and i think carmelo and banning when he makes it his game much rather have win a game where he's a huge contributor but at this point. This isn't a narrative where he is in his career. The brody can still be a big contributor. So that's the big difference because they're expecting a lot of him carmelo supposed to be. You know the cherry on top. Yeah last year. Anthony had one of his most efficient scoring years. Fifty field goal percentage fifty percent from the floor which ranks a second best in his career. He's morphed into a useful role player off the bench in limited minutes. And if they can use them that way. I think he can be somebody that they can turn in certain situations. I'm more interested in how lebron and westbrook play together. Seemed to be two guys who like to have the ball in their hands and if they can figure out a way to coexist on the floor. Now the interesting thing is and we put this on the espn milwaukee. Excuse me we put this on the kishan jalen zubin. You see. I went into awesome. Is it right there talking about my own show. Espn milwaukee we put it on the keyshawn. Jay williams zubin poll. We're asking all the guys out there who are trying to win their first. nba title. Who for who you pulling for chris. Paul carmelo anthony. James harden or paul george. Which player are you rooting for to win their first. Nba title bart scott. What say the people for me. I love james harden because the narrative about you know. God who i think should have one more mvp sandy..

"Gonna say sir. I just think. I just think that's a really good point because like i've been i've been kind of thinking about why it is a. Kobe seems to appeal to to so many of these young players And i think that like obviously there are other great players at the time right. Like you know if you're if you're my age. You're probably rooting for lebron or kobe. At some point. And i think the thing that appeals to like athletes about a guy. Like kobe's exactly that it's just like his willingness to let you in on on this journey because like i think if you're that driven and you do something that is in the public eye and is unique in the nba is like it just has to be an incredibly lonely existence like even even among your peer group you'll hear nba players. Say like no one else really understands them. And then i think if you're even on the higher or that if that's a place that you want to get to like being able to have somebody that's actually been been willing to share their story about it like i mean that just has to be really big when you or probably just not. You're probably just not getting that anywhere else. Do sorry. i'm a little bit distracted. Because i'm watching. Andrew toney highlights. Oh thirty thirty nine points and six assists on the celtics in the ninety nine hundred cars. I wasn't trolling. That's actually the first one that came up well court so you know antonio it's a sad stories are like he. He was amazing he was lethal deadly and then he had some injuries and yet he had to some foot problems and the sixers kind of didn't believe him and so his career just sort of came to a very sad close because he was hurt and they didn't believe he was hurt and they want him to play and it just ended so sadly one of his career is basically like if devon booker gear was over your for. Now you're like. Wow what happened. My dad booker's careers over he was. He was the go-to score on the team. That had moses barkley and and dock and he was the guy they went to in the last five minutes and then he had for problems than that zip but it was like a six year. Run all set. I mean he was. He got the nickname of a of a famous burder in boston. That was how was south salvatore. What's his name. Something i can't but anyway yeah i actually did a story with antoni at the end i pursued it for several years because i was very young writer when he started. You know when that was happening. I i joined the globe. Nineteen eighty eighty-two. Like i was watching this gone. Wow and then he like you said in an he was gone and i kept thinking what happened. Where is the. I used to ask barkley about it. Because barkley loved him barkley stuck up for him. Barkley said no. You gotta understand. This is really is really hurt. You know this is crazy and Anyway i did finally tracked him down. It took me a while. I think barkley put in a word for me. But i don't know if you can ever find it but i i did a story with andrew tony. It was one of the saddest stories i ever wrote. Oh really how the sixers really let him. Yeah sixers really let him down man. They really let him down the organization not the players organization. Syra quick boring. Backstory the celtics comeback from three one in the eighty one eastern finals woods probably the greatest series of all time. Come back they not by air via sized at all five six and seven they all come back from big leads game six turns because maxwell fights a six or six or fan in the stand like it's just amazing get so so get sued. Yeah a year later. Nate today to same scenario therapy three one. We went five. We went six game. Seven is back in boston. People are dressed like ghosts. Everyone's like we're gonna. We're gonna play the lakers in the finals. And then tony murders everybody. He murders the celtics murders to crowd. It's just completely demolished. S in philly wins. It goes to the finals. So that's how i but it was like watching booker last thing where these guys that can and it's i'm town. It's a listless tan. These guys that can get in the zone at that position. And you're just hopeless. Holiday was all over him on some of those plays. Yeah matter at all. It was crazy. Vinnie johnson bidding. Johnson's the other one vinnie. Johnson could do it not for the same not with no dame regularity but he was pretty awesome to and his nickname was the microwave he was lightly will also because he could heat up so fast off the so he was on all those great business teams but booker is more talented than both of those guys. Though i mean maybe we'll never know about andrew toney but booker's he's so clever in the way dozens and that's why i feel like i'm coming back around to chris paul again because the one thing chris. Paul was doing up until all these injuries. He had guys on skates he was handling the ball in such a way with sta. Starting pulling it back and guys were flopping all over the place and he was getting the separation he needed to hit a joke. An open jump shot. Watch him now. he can't do it right now. I don't know why that is. I hate to not give jrue holiday all the credit in the world because as great as he was on chris. Ball then devon booker got hot. He switched on devon booker and did a really good job on him. To and by the way can i just point out. What a good job. Devon booker is doing defensively. Which gets in boston all this sauce. He's been very good defensively. Go back and watch a little bit. I mean yeah. They gave him. They gave him eight foul. So yeah when you work a lot of magic syria. This is a series game. Five saturday night is weird..

"Point. God is a production of i heart radio so now i gotta figure out a mathematical formula how i can win. I had to be champi and not only champion but everyone who i've played against what recognize and acknowledge he's that dude back point. God i'm your host two time. Nba all star. Baron davis and this is part too with the legendary point. Ga the oracle the professor. I say a tops at that point. You like all right. We're going to be deep is subordinated but the majority of the offense is going to fall on you right. And what were you thinking about. Let's say going into year four. Like how did you train. You know what i mean. 'cause is that is that year where you like. You know what fuck man i gotta go for. My i can't be sitting back you know has been two years. I've been planning to where they want me to like man like what was what was that because not only did you have to change defensively but you also had to like take on a lot more responsibility right because you're in that category but you want it to be in that category that category that category right so you get into that category is to win right so like in in your remember this 'cause your senior year in high school. You was that due to loan your team right in anytime you want it to. You had the green light you get forty night up but which a win right so for me it. It came down to okay. I cannot uplift. My teammates had cannot make them better Because i know this guy gets fifteen fifteen. This guy gets seven this guy. Get nine this guy you know. It's a lot of scorn now. Reineck stopped all of us. Right right if all of us become a threat then defensively. The opponent ain't good enough to stop all of us absolutely so now. My scorn is going to continue to decrease just like yours had to do. Yeah jimmy you're see who. Yeah when it's not making other people better absolutely right now. The critics in the people who write a battery in the media Forget this when my brother told me said june when they start measuring you against you you got to you know and they were saying why is it. You used the average twenty three points but now you only averaging nineteen in the way i would answer. That question is yet. But that's meet here if they get mad bill you man. I said 'cause you you measured me against me and when you measuring me against me. I'm still win at and i'm better in your team better now. We win games absolutely. He's happier and now we become the juggernaut defensively in offensive. I'm loving all izzy Because as i'm listening to this and as young point guards are listening to this. You know there. There's a moment right where you have to define yourself right. You have to measure up against your greatness right and so you know the first the first three years in the league right you know you get off right but you're not getting all you know what i mean and so you decided that. What is a number when the goal is winning right so so for point guards out here. It's the science right. It's the math in the science when talk about the math and the science. That makes you better and not like. I'm just going to be a better shooter. I'm gonna work on my handles. It's like you already had the game you were you were you were don dada already upper echelon right. You had this mastermind thing right but now you started now going into year. Four right when you decided the stats. Don't measure up to the winds right talk about the math and the science around positioning yourself into that category. Believe that that is a great question. And that is the million dollar question. Because the the the criteria in formula up of measurement that had been established for you to win you know though those those formulas in those numbers only applied to six six in a ball thank you they only apply you know the the measurement field goal for senate up bounden all of that. You know it so forgot who play far away from the rim you know. The rumors have changed. But when i was when i was playing the formula for winning was in front of it was it was for six above guy so so now i gotta figure out a mathematical formula. A how i can win. Not using this formula not using their methodology not using their measurement in terms of. What's good. what's bad but now you really going way off the path right and nobody really understands what you doing. In terms of the people who are judging writing because their criteria of measurement is where you know if you're not shooting fifty five percent from the field and right getting twelve rebounds. This is the formula for winning. Yes so we had to create a different formula for the detroit pistons at to create different formula for ourselves. Were guy like dennis rodman can become valuable. Yes john salley can become valuable. Yes games that words can become valuable. Vinnie johnson dumars lamb beer. None of these guys fit the criteria measurement of success. They were saying. Oh if you have is twenty points and ten rebounds that means you first team all Ride but we had under the right right no you didn't you go up with joan formula. Yes that would you know and understand you. That's all you point guard that was on me. Yes all you right so for for the point guards you know listening right vessel you right. 'cause 'cause you gotta tell james that words right they yo you know you'll fifteen you you'll you'll get in twenty and eleven.

So show 2 to 4 o'clock on ESPN. Milwaukee had the chance to talk little bucks basketball with Tony earlier. So last night, an amazing performance by like five different guys. You've played with great players who have gotten injured. Here's my question is the mindset change If you're one of the other guys on the court, does it make you feel more confident? Are you more likely to step up? Are you more likely to step outside your role when a great players not a factor in the game? Yeah. You know, it really depends on the team and the individual guy. You know, there are situations where you can have guys who are You know, maybe a younger player who may be looking to find their way in the league. And when the star goes down of the team, man, they might look that that is an opportunity Today. Now I can shine and become the guy and and and That could be good and bad. It can be bad in the sense that you know he gets out of pocket a little bit. Doesn't play the role of the team and and it's trying to go and do things on his own. So it can be dangerous in that sense, but I think when you have a team like the Bucks and you saw last night, guys didn't do that guys play within the system. It did really didn't look like Brook Lopez, who scored 33, which is like ridiculous didn't look like he was doing anything extra. You know, passes were coming to him. It's taking everything that was available. I mean, he's a guy we're used to seeing stand around the three point line. We didn't see that last night. So it was a different kind of way of of making up for what Yannis does. And Lot of points in the paint. Um, we're missing with the honest out. Those are made up by players like you saw Brook Lopez crashing to the bucket. Getting great passes from, um drew holiday and and other guys and offensive rebounds. Things like that, so When stars go down. Yes, Players can think of think of it as an opportunity, but a veteran team they will not. You're in the league. How hard is it to score 33 points in a playoff game? It's pretty difficult. I mean, but but again when when the bucks have the players that they have with the mentality that they have, they don't have a lot of what we call selfish isolation type players who are just looking to To put up numbers. You have guys who Maybe that is the role like a guy like brain forms. I see that as brands role He got to come in, make some shots because that's what he does best. And if he gets hot, it's going to be ugly for the other team, right. He's going to knock down four or five threes in a row on you if he gets hot, but that's his role. When I played the guy who had a role like that was Vinnie Johnson on the piston. That was his job in You come in and see if you can get hot and give us a spark, right? The microwave. Yeah, the microwave, correct and Uh, So you know the box, though. They've got a different makeup you saw Drew holiday to be more aggressive. You saw Chris militant be more aggressive at the beginning of the game, And that's exactly what the doctor ordered for the box as far as getting this game off to a good start, which they had to do. Whose health is more important to their team making the finals Trae Young, organised. Man, That's that's like asking me. What's the difference of half a dozen and six man? These guys are both very important. The thing that's funny. I know you hear some of this. Oh, man, The Bucks played so great without Yannis or the night before was the Hawks at home. They played so great without trade. Uh, let's not make any mistakes. They're not better off with their stars. There's no question like that..

"Like who's durant ultimately going to belong to when he goes to the hall of fame. I guess that's a part just because i'm old. I have a hard time. Like clements is really the first guy that was like this from my generation where it's like the red sox fans i will you laugh fuck you. He's that not really yankee. Who's a blue jay for couple of years. And then he astros. I felt that way about carlton fisk. He's ours but not really right. Played with key was i know he's at the weights wasn't the red sox wasn't yours to rain. It's like now. He's so brilliant in it's like this new era were in our. It's just like burgess. Kevin durant fans and i talked my son. My son is thirteen and he has friends that just root for players don't have teams and get where we're going with this so durant is just so singularly brilliant and it kinda belongs to him and the durant fans and these that's fans that showed up week ago and it's just a weird we just think just think of kevin durant didn't wear a shoe size. That was once is too big They would've won. His foot was on the line if he has regular size sneakers on it. Hit the That would be a three and they would have won he just. He's the most versatile offensive player. I've ever seen it. It's funny steve. Kerr's getting a lot of flack or whatever today. Because he said that what he said. Kevin durant was the most gifted player. He's ever seen more. Gifted the michael jordan and people are going crazy i understand. Exactly what steve kerr saying don't you. He's not saying that. Kevin durant better than michael jordan or a these just saying look at that body seven eight whatever he said this two years ago. I don't know i do. He said this would coachie. 'cause we got the attention span of a gnat. That's why the other thing is steve. Kerr's i think the only guy from that generation who's willing to admit something that they as you know. I revere that generation larry lands by guy all that stuff but like i'm sorry the players are better offensively. Now they sure are. They made higher difficulty shots. And in fact if you ran in nineteen eighty six we would have thought. He landed from a spaceship. Exactly you know it's like while you know we do. We would have put him on the post and have it robert perez garden. You're out you're we'd been like seven footer. What are you. What are you doing out there. Get back down there. You know i was thinking during that quicker suns game. 'cause that i went to the game stay exteriors like i don't know five different guys that he checks her in the game and company unbelievable nobody. Has we vinnie johnson. The microwave because he could come in and he could make five straight. Seventeen footer johnson. And now i'm watching a game. Where reggie jackson is twenty. Four and a half as terrence mann also has twenty five points and a half and i'm like right the sports is i think i think it's just offensively better. I don't know if it's more fun to watch. Well i if did well and they also. I always go back to the hand check role once they took that away. It just became impossible to guard these guys on the perimeter. Impossible and grab is a good example like he just would have gone where we won and the year after they did that. If i'm not mistaken the year after they made that rule. I'm pretty sure allen iverson the league in scoring. i'm pretty sure that's the case. And so that tells you everything you need to know having said that. Look at durant the rankin. He could beat you off the dribble. He can create his own shot. he can shoot threes. He shoots free throws he can. He's got a lefty hook. A righty hook. He could score out of the post like he's unbelievable. He's unbelievable and i. I mean i do think and talking with him. His genuine goal is to win three championships in brooklyn and then make it that his place his team his legacy now. That could happen this year but a lot of weird stuff happened and the problem is kevin durant. Kevin durant see thirty two or something. It's thirty two while he's says two titles that he basically left on the table right. Nineteen they would won. He doesn't get it. And then this year that i think they would one doesn't get it right. That's you know. Lebron has four. And it's probably the right number. I think if you really look at his career the over unders like probably four four and a half. You could say he should have won in two thousand eleven but dallas beat them. Yeah hundred beat him and now he shouldn't have went into those fourteen fifty and they had all the injuries. Maybe that's the one. But i don't know if they should have one and sixteen jay mom punches him in the balls right. You know bogus out. Member boga going yet. The fours the right number for him but as four is the right number for durant afterwards scene but seattle take durant cares about that stuff you know like. He doesn't like lebron constantly looking at his legacy. The far reach. And can i you know jordan and that whole thing. I just don't think durant honest to god the amount of times i've talked to them. I just think kevin durant is searching for something he's never gonna find. I really believe that. I think he. Searching for this. Inner peace this.

"It's great it's a great detail. It's great hair be it's wonderfully delivered and a really nice human moment and those are the things that will make the show memorable not just useful and to your other point about. What are we waiting for that. Such an good. That's a really smart capture of what essentially was the problem with balcon winter soldier. Not as a project not as a collection of individuals seen even as like an experience but just like no i had more to do with the discourse than it did with the experience of the shows possibly but also we did. There wasn't enough jet weren't enough jetskis in that. Show to draw attention away from the fact that who is the powerbroker is a question. That doesn't matter to anyone we don't you introduced it as a mystery and then made us and then acted like we would care about the mystery and of course like when you dig a hole in the sand and the beach and the ocean comes rushing into fill at like. That's what the internet will do for a question in a highly rated television show. And i don't fault anyone including ourselves for doing that but that wasn't question we were necessarily invested in and i think the beauty of the low-key construction is going off of the second episode. This whole thing is probably bullshit right. These timekeeper lizards like this is all set up to be revealed. Its in moebius will be unlucky team. And they'll tear down the structure to save it and there is no one time line which will lead to possibly multi verses in miles morales spider man. And who cares. Have fun with that right but the point being the show is constructed not to make us overly care about that question yet. It's making us care about these. Two people putting too much salt and boko apple juice on top of a salad and that is the right framing for a show that is as fun frankly as this one is and and the level of steaks with which it is operated hilson and his character have been the kind of the vinnie johnson off the bench for the mcu in general like get in there and he's going to change the the temperature of the room in really efficient fund way. And it's interesting. It's been fun to watch him do that. While being in almost every scene. Although i wilson so far is like is kind of the co. Lead of this show your. They're doing probably more as many scenes with wilson without hit. Allston as as ston gets without wilson. I do find it fun to watch even a a walk and talk. That's supposed to be. Hey what did you hear in this room. And what are we going to do in the next room. He will send his like filling the frame out like he's just popping his collar and doing this and shoulder moves and like everything has flare and it is. I can see why that would be exhausting. In the same way that i think maybe his character is the kind of person that must be difficult to ultimately right for because what what is ever real. You know what. I mean like right. Whatever like the actual quote unquote motivation for someone who is just one of many gods of mischief carousing around multiple timelines multiple good slash bad things at any given moment. But it's it's been kind of neat to see. The first three marvel shows have all been about somewhat. I don't mean this in a pejorative way about anybody who's like vision taught me. It was okay to be weird. Just mean like those were relatively tertiary characters. Compared to iron man and captain america coke or whatever and see like the though different ways you can approach these side characters whether or not you need them to be entirely how they relate to the absence of main character like falcon winter soldier or whether or not it's filling in relatively inert characters like wanda envisioned with like an different emotional deficit in case of key. You're just like we have very very powerful thing. Let's just let it go and see how much we can light it up. But also it is a question of recipe balance and chemistry right. Because it's a hit. Allston is a very strong ingredient. You know citric acid of this of this will not tip our top chef convoked. But you know he is as many classically trained. British actor are very comfortable switching from comedy drama to tragedy and you can even sell a total nonsense like the guardian legend of wolf fears and teeth or whatever. I'm like found fascinating. Tell me more about this thing that you cooked up in the writer's room to am because you had to fill great. He's also i say this with respect and love like a bit camp. And there's things that i recognized from was making briar patch like working with alan cumming. Who is in some ways to similar actor. And you say to. Alan like okay allen. We need to do a pickup of you receiving a document in you look at the pages and it's worrying to you and he's just like great eyebrow acting got it. Yeah and he's joking but he can just do it and there's a lot of that here where the scene where he's like in the library going through documents and i watched i watched actually rewound and watch one of the scenes because you can tell a certain type actor. Who's like i love this. Here's the six documents you've handed me. I'm going to lift up this. When i i'm going to lay it flat. I'm going to collate to them. And then i will toss my hair and lee. You know that was probably a pickup at the end of the day show. But he's doing it but all of this is to say you can play with that and you can turn it up to eleven in..

"Better than donald mitchell. He just a jazz player. Ever and also. I'm better than chris. Paul justify enter was like no. You're not john and he's like watch this up for you. It is the best point guard on the floor. Jake's work like chris. Paul is of the john stockton ilk and for sure. Doctored really is like one of the more disrespected. nba players of all time. I mean remember the dock they had like fans asking him to take pictures of the other players. And he's like. I'm also team but i i will take these and he was also hurt during the dream team. So that's why a lot of people like he couldn't even play on the team. It's like stockton was hurt but he played a lot more. He's worse than disrespected. There's like an apathy towards john stockton. It's not like it's his name gets brought up and people are like now. That guy wasn't even that good. It feels like his name doesn't get brought up at all Discussions of whatever your discussions are it does seem like people treat them like you scott skyline and it's like no. He's john stockton. There's a difference between those two and it does seem like yeah whatever save type of guy and it's like no stockton was. He was kind of like a wizard. I mean like you say. Chris paul and john stockton are more similar than they are different when you look at their games. Johnston could never played today's nba athletic. It's to this. It's like michael jordan played. Michael jordan's endear coleman's nba. And larry johnson. It's like there's this this reverence cintas dodger for these guys. I watched part. Pardon the interruption and they were talking about vinnie johnson. and microwaves. you know and they're just like you. we've we'll never see someone like vinnie. Johnson coming off the bench and doing what he did score in the basketball. And i'm like i. I know i'm sitting here. Like i agree like johnson credible like the microwave yada yada yada but then you had to save. You'll like a plan not the people that would call them up. Joyce playing plumbers. Mac johnson was coming off the bench. They was the microwave. Yes you can't have it both ways. John starks played in the league with michael jordan dominique wilkins. I'm led to believe that he would be able to playing. its plumbers. the athleticism of today you're right to a jazz sons finals. The anybody but the clippers. I'm trying to figure out like if you're conditioning yourself for the worst possible scenario for the sons what is it. It feels like it's losing to the nets and the finals feels like that's the worst case. That's bad for everybody. That's bad for the you know what i'm saying like i don't even think the nba goes home. Happy about the nets being the suns at the nets. The nets get the finals. You hope the nets are playing the clippers. The only team that they can have some sort of likeability towards the problem with the clippers. I looked it up. The sons one fifty one games in the nets won forty eight so the suns would host game seven finals voice. According to that like suns fans are out. A wild bags are the best I understand why you're mad at me for putting this out into the through but i'm trying to I have found that this is my way of dealing with stuff is you. You put it out there so you face it you hear it you hear me. Say those words that steve. Nash beats the suns in game seven. The finals phoenix and celebrates a title in phoenix with the other team. And you picture that your mind and now you don't have to be scared of the boogeyman because you see him coming. You know what he looks like and then that way. If it happens do that's the worst case scenario. That's one hundred percent the worst case. Do you think there's any chance and i say this. Obviously we're we're talking in all you know speculation the. There's any chance if we get to a finals in its sons net. It's god forbid the steve. Nash has a little bit of roy williams at him where he is like. He wears the sun's logo on. He like he doesn't want to do this. The sons you know what i mean. He wants to win a championship because at the end of the day i think today what i agree with you. There will be really got his ring with the lakers. That but i think nash part. I think the reason nashes coaching because he wants to get a ring. I feel like nash wins the race. I feel like the nets went this year. National just retire and go back to your soccer commentary living on manhattan beach and popping up everywhere bleacher report to the world cup for bleacher report. Whatever the hell it is do off. I think he wants to ballot. That's that's the problem. But i i like your heads like he'll spin it that way nashes. Pr people. i'm spending it that way. The nets lose to the sons. He's gotta be jealous. A monty williams too because like that could be steve. Nash like he could be the coach of the phoenix suns. He'd be the former point guard. Turn coach that's doing great and you got these young guys by in So maybe some animosity keeps them from feeling sympathy towards the sons. But i do think if you're the sons like you. Cheer for steve nash. When he comes out you know what i'm saying like you you try to you. Try to you. Try to get him to be on your cyber. Like i'm not even gonna argue these calls. 'cause this team deserves the win. You know what i mean. Well we have. We have a long way to go to get there because the the brooklyn nets are not.

"Happy time. People happy belated eightieth birthday. Marv albert marvez announced. He is stepping away from the microphone at the end of these. Nba playoffs ending a nearly sixty year career. Doing play by play in his time. Marv called pro basketball hockey pro football college basketball boxing. Even some people. Don't say omar you got to work with so and know people say to anyone who sat with more on broadcast. Oh you got to work with marv albert on a personal note. I can't tell you how great it was to grow up in new york and here marv call the knicks and rangers. And i can't tell you how. Many kids tried to mimic mob signature signature. Call yes i don't do it. Well he used to do it. Better tony i grew up with jack. Brickhouse harry carey in my own stable of famous announcers. But then doing what i do professionally. I got to listen to and be around. Marv occasionally and i am in all of him and a spectacular move is my favorite marv call. Did he call live. The captain willis reed at the garden at night. You were there that call. I was there. He must've done radio. But i didn't hear it because i was at the game. Happy anniversary vinnie johnson. On the state. Thirty one years ago. Johnson was nicknamed the microwave because he would heat up in a hurry and intrigue microwave fashion. Johnson scored fifteen of his sixteen points in the fourth quarter. "30% down to 20 point. Seven, right. So It is what it is. The Bears have done the same thing that worked out They were able to trade up. Go get the quarterback they wanted. The Bulls are hoping they can keep their pick. Whether they do or they don't they still need an infusion of talent. Where is this team for you? Well, at some point, it became unwatchable because you kind of knew the result. Right? You see the bulls that have time down, 10 down, 12. Whatever. You saw them come back in the game. But you just know they didn't have enough closers to be able to win those games against good teams cap. That's the whole thing. They were. They were one of the worst teams in the end the MBA against teams over 500, So I was the one lost total. You just know you just don't have enough down the stretch to beat good teams single digits. They're down there with Sacramento and some of the dregs the league when it comes to trying to win games against teams over 500, so This is no shot at Zach Levine. This is no shot at at Busa bitch. But there needs to be a in this league. You need to be here will have three guys. At least you could depend on At least the Bulls have to You're waiting on Patrick Williams and thank God he's gonna go to Summer league. Yeah, that was. I thought that was a really cool moment that Patrick Williams had him going to Summer league. I got a lot to work on. This is a huge summer for me. What There are a lot of guys I ain't going from my summer. That's pimping. Yes, Yes. Yeah. I'm not going out. I want to be able to relax. I just played No 70 some games. I'm tired. No, he said. This is a huge summer of development for me, so because I was like, you know what? I'm not gonna put my sombrero. Get out of here, Scotty. Selfish anyway, so I love that kind. Larrabee here, Scottie. What do you What do you think? I'm not going off of my mama. Okay, that's a fast so after Levin and boost ceviche cap Don't expect marketing to be here next season. So how do you replace that production? Now there was some signs from marketing late in the season is bad, his best shooting season. Rebounding numbers are down. You think for a big will be better, right? I said the time the draft as I was sitting there at the bird. Oh, center When I was there at the draft, I said when they made the selection go, I'm not even sure that market is even the top three player on his own Arizona team. You recall this like that? There was promised with marketing. But I thought it was a travesty like project. I thought that he was okay, but not stellar. And Arizona. I end up being right. Because of the injuries you want because of the injuries cap like that, and then him being able to give you minutes and give you some production. That's great, but you have to cut your losses. I think that you're gonna replace that production with someone again with that same size as a four to play three or four position and give you double digits offensively. You do not have a ton of salary cap space. I sent you guys the link Kevin Anderson over at NBC Sports. Chicago has a running thread on his Twitter off where the Bulls are with the cap. And place and moves they could make to get themselves some more space. But Me ask you a question. If you're free agent, let's take Lonzo ball. Sure. The Knicks want you allegedly the Bulls want you allegedly Which destination is more appealing today. Must be the next. No question about it again. This is no shot of Billy Donovan because I think he's a stellar coach. Yes. I mean, they mean Wikipedia it if you haven't seen Billy Donovan, you know, he's a terrific coach. Just that where the team is right now, So can you tell me as a free agent that Levin's gonna be over the long haul? Because I know that he's gonna be a leader. If he is right offensively, booster bitches, a walking 2010. And then what? Patrick Williams is developing. I'm hoping and I believe he's going to be a really good, really good player. How about this is what 19 How about this about Kobe White? You've been against him. Because you feel like he should be more of the lead guard and be able to go in the position. You think as Billy Donovan, head coach, you have been able to get him to be better. Now you talk about someone who developed the last 20 games. Kobe White's been knocking it down. He's been much better, especially with Levin being out because of the Kobe restrictions, but I think you're right in this regard. If he's going to be that you're six man That's not so bad. If he's gonna be your six man. If he grows in the loo Williams, I'll take it. No question Jamal Crawford, but just understand that, like he's not going to be AH, guy in meaningful minutes, especially to start to be a difference maker for your team. You just gonna be like, you know, like, uh, Vinnie Johnson type. Apparently, Yeah, He's not your answer at point guard, but don't throw him away. No agreed, agreed. But but you still have to need you still your point guard if Chloe's part of your mix if he's getting started minutes cap if he comes off the bench and still gives you 30 minutes if he's knocking down four or five threes, I'm good with that. That's what he did, because he can't guard. And you can't distribute as a point guard. He's kind of a two and one's body. So 30 it's Young spoke to the media. Who I'm a big fan of that guy, he said. When he gets that killer mindset in him, it's going to be a lot of trouble for a lot of people Fad Young with Patrick Williams. Could be He also wanted to say how hard you want. How much do you want that right? Patrick Williams apparently wants it..

But if you want me to wait, here we are. We made it to 2021 312981 72 100 is the phone number and the text line if you'd like to drop us a text. Area code 847 texted in and we were talking earlier about the last dance documentary put up ESPN about the Chicago Bulls, and we were talking about I feel like I've been I don't know. I've been triggered about my hatred for the Detroit Pistons and Maser is over there sitting around saying I'm leaving the New York Knicks Madison Square Garden. He's twitching. Area code. 847 texted in Mike and Andy was John Starks, the Piston's player. That war really short shorts. Happy New Year from married. That was John Salley, John Salley being with a bull's John Starks Was there the guy on the Knicks that always had a scowl on his face and was ready to fight everybody, right? Yeah, I believe it was John Salley that had the tight shorts and Vinnie Vinnie Johnson also the microwave. And to this day when a song by Europe comes on the final countdown. Yeah, I get angry. I mean, I like the song everyone so well, but that's what they would use at the garden at that. All right at the palace of the Palace. Yeah, Yeah, right, right. Did you ever go to the palace? I was never inside of a drug. Buy it when I was covering bears lions of the old Pontiac Silverdome was they were pretty close Silver. Don't Yeah. I feel like I need to go to more. I mean, if this were a normal time, one things get back to normal. I need to go to more. Venues more like opposing teams venues because I don't get too many of those, you know, it's kind of cool. I mean, obviously, but what I do every once in a while there is to go to these other sporting events and other other venues, but There. It's interesting to and because you get to see how they lay their stadium out what they write. What's good about there's what's better about ours. You know those kind. It's It's kinda cool. So here's my thing about Soldier field. First of all, I was going to soldier field before the spaceship landed. Yeah, the alien ship landed inside the mothership right before the hostile takeover. I was going and I loved Soldier Field because I thought the sightlines were really nice was bull exactly. Um, with the with the renovation of Soldier Field. I'm not. I've not been a fan of that ever since it happened. No. Well, they did a couple things, you know, even for the broadcasters. I know the dollar station, but I've talked to the guys the overhang on the West side where they broadcast from. You can't see punch when I go in there. Yep. You can't see the past week ago, There was a deep pass. You can't see it. There's some premium seats over there. People pay a lot of money and I was I was not sitting in one of those, but I was On the other side is walking through the concourse, and I kind of just was hanging back where you could stand and I was trying to watch the game. If it's a real if it's a bomb. If it's a point if you can't see it, you know the other thing, too, is in this day and age. Now of the fact that cold weather city's air getting Super Bowls, there is a minimum requirement for seats and seating capacity. And I believe it is at 66,000. Which is what the old configuration of soldier field was. They cut out 4000 seats. It's a 61,000 seat stadium. That's and that's small compared to others. Maybe it's very small compared to others. So I mean, I get what they wanted to do. They keep the columns get the history keep the tradition. But it just It looks very oddly juxtaposed well and it you know, to get in and out of there. It's not fun. It is a chore and like, Look here I am complaining about going on football game. I've been to a football game in a long time, but the bridge situation to go up and down and I feel like you gotta walk a couple miles to get in or out of there. It's just and think about. If you try to take a family of four, it's expensive. It's expensive. First of all, before you even have a hot dog or you buy a drink. You're looking at a few 100 bucks just to get in the building, and it's probably not the greatest in terms of seats. No. Yeah, it's hard. It's hard because it's such a Everybody loves the bears. I know. I mean, there's a bear's town. The Cubs win the World Series. It's still a bear's town. Right? Bulls do what they did. The Hawks do what they did. It's still a bear's Talia's Everybody agrees. You know, That's the one team that everybody can really kind of agree on. And in the city. It's that's the tough part about it because you don't wanna complain about because you still love the fact that they're here. I know, but at the same time, it's like I'm such a sucker. We're talking Adam Hogue about the Bears Packers game in the eight o'clock hour around 8 45, but amazed how you feeling you're feeling Ah, well, you know, the latest music's coming out of Packer camp, with their one of their better offensive lineman is not their best offensive lineman may be done..
