"Somebody get me Mark Zuckerberg on the phone the world. See you in court. You're a dead man. Are observer work, Federal Herbert Mm. E saw a painting in a story recently and I thought I would take a picture of the artist and the artists. Last name was Herbert. And, of course, all the way back to my car. I'm just like Herbert. It is our perp. We poisoned ourselves and Zarate's and our listeners We've had the woman who won the San Diego or the L. A. Chargers were in the playoff game recently and ER and at the end of the regular season and Doing the game. She's just saying Herbert. Every time they say Justin Justin Herbert is 10 for 15 so far, and she said it was like in the fourth quarter that her husband finds like, what are you doing? Why do you keep doing that? Perper so great. Uh, alright. So cracked has an article today about Hollywood tropes that we just need to banish Just this typical plotline storyline setting that we do for movies and TV shows now. Let me just say Don't mind tropes. We've all been telling the same stories for a long time. And everybody says when there's a remake, Hollywood doesn't have any ideas that we do remakes for decades and decades. So just when you think we are the only ones who are rehashing old ideas and trying to tell the story, and you were not So I already am okay with tropes, but I wanted to see what the author had to say. Here's one trope that he wants to see done with. The tech company shining with Promise. Think of 20 tens, the social network. Kind of a dark movie. In some ways, fortunes evaporate. Friends betray each other. But then there's something there's something there. There's a valuable idea that everybody wants a piece off, and it's a boon to the new world. So let's do it. He thinks it's been done too many times, even recently, referencing the internship, a movie that I enjoyed with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. Mm hmm. So the tech company with Promise he doesn't like that Trump. Okay, Okay. This is very specific list of tropes. I must tell you Do you want to tell everyone with the word trope means I think that a trope as I would define it and grant when you look up the definition. Tell me from wrong. Well, I say that your speech. No, no, A trope is like theme. Yes, I gave team a story line. Okay. Cliche. Yes. You know, he's like in a movie trope. It's just like, you know, this is gonna happen. Next General run up the stairs and a horror movie, which is the stupidest thing to do exactly a figurative or metaphorical use of the word or expression. So exactly what you guys are saying. Good job, Donna Trump. The job cramp. He's also think of apocalypse films. He thinks that those air predictable in all play into each other in the same way. I think I like an apocalypse movie. Don. I know you? Do you live in what? No, no. You like in a popular movie, don't you? Yes. Yes, I do. How about he wants? Does she? The cop on the edge storyline go away. Was sucking on the edge. You know these cop movies when it's always like, boy, Burt's gonna lose it and he said All right, if I have to take one more, one more command from this commanding officer, I'm gonna lose and I'm just I'm gonna break I'm gonna break Yes, very predictable and sure. You know what I mean? Yes, I do. And then the final movie trope that cracked dot com saying We need to do away with Donna. You're not gonna like this one. It is the 20 year nostalgia cycle, saying For decades we've been at the mercy of creators and audiences who pine for when they grow up. 20 years ago. That's the time when you just feel sort of nostalgic. So for a while, we've been lectured about movies of the eighties as though they were the most important and influential works of all time. Before that. We had 90 stuff that was looking back at the seventies that seventies show Boogie Nights. Yeah, 80 stuff was looking back at the sixties The Wonder years dirty dancing. But there any of us looking back at 2000 right now? I'll think so. Do you? I mean, other than some of our bumper music. Mm hmm. In the seventies, they.

"Have you seen that one? Well, Vince, Vince Vaughn. And And will Ferrell could just be sitting on a bed, a bus stop staring at each other, and I'd laugh. Yeah, I know those two guys that don't even have to say anything. And I know that that movie cracks me up. I don't know why you need the the couple's counselors trying to, you know, wedge themselves in between, and you've got a problem in your marriage and all that, So I mean, it's just There's so many lines from that movie that crack me up, But that is the movie. I would say that I would you. No, it's not necessarily the greatest movie of all time, but I will actually watch that if it's on What do you think? What do you got? What you got Peter Fletch. Flush. What would be hurt? Give me Barry. Here's Your surprise is epic male movie. I know, But if you wash it, Fletch to that would be one thing but flood you see, here's the thing with flight Ball bearing sea station. Nobody I love Fletch more than any other movie. When you watch it is often as I watch it. You start to realize that you should be a little bit embarrassed. That's where it's gone. Watch it out so many times that I go. Oh, man, this might be like An indictment on my character a little bit like this is the actors that he falls for in that movie, you know, Larry, come on. No. Sorry. I appreciate your confidence in me. But no, no, no, Wait. How many times have you watched it? You don't even know the name of the lead actress? That's a great call Mark. But yes, that is absolutely correct. Wow. Wow. I want you like five times a year. Yeah. I don't think you're doing this right like that's not a movie. You should be embarrassed for watching like, you know, what do you say Next? Shawshank Redemption. Ocean's 11 these air great. These are great kids, man. It's okay for a safe place here. Fletch has has caused some strife in the past. Really. People are like Fletch really that again an indictment on my character a little bit like it's fun the first time around. I don't know our move movies in general. What we what we like, or probably indictments on all of our character all the time, Right? I mean, we we We lined up around the block to watch mob movies where people are just getting shot in the street like Yeah, I'll tell. You know, obviously, there's some pent up something inside all of us. I saw Irishman. The only thing that was pent up in me was just a bunch of sleep that I got out roughly halfway through. What is this, And it's eternal, right? Isn't that movie like Robert De Niro was born before? Right? Is that movie started? I mean, it was just unbelievably long paint jobs or see the movie reds. There was a freaking intermission. No reds never even heard of a thing with the hateful 82. It was always good, but, uh, an intermission for movie. Yeah, that's some Tarantino nonsense about gonna have an intermission. Your movies too Damn long. You gotta edit it better. That's honestly that's a hell that's a hell of a play like, Hey, get up! Leave. And definitely come back. I mean, you can get away with that at halftime, but you'll see when there's a bad game. Guys just won't come back after halftime. Imagine if your movie has to be pretty awesome to have the gall to put an intermission in the middle of it. Seriously, you're gonna be kind of cocky, Almost like totally there. They're gonna love this. They're gonna go get they're gonna get a second thing of popcorn. They're coming back. That's why it's a Tarantino play like Tarantino Does That and Yeah, It just doesn't really work for me anymore. He's a little too high on his own supply from if I'm being honest, Well, it's 2020. When was Red's released Larry because, like 1974? Yeah, she was in the eighties. He wasn't you would never do that. Now, like the attention span that we all know now, 81. Yeah. You're not gonna ask people to walk, Smith. Well, I got a meeting with rotten tomatoes, so Yeah, well, no, no, By the way, I do it, Warren, bt's Are you guys gonna watch Tyson Roy Jones? No, No, I wanted to watch if I wanted to watch you too old to fight. I just go to a Thanksgiving dinner somewhere. Seriously. Maybe you could start one at what you'd be doing for turkey. I should ask you. Uh, I heard you're making your very first turkey. Larry. I'm your three behind me, Hombre. I'm 32. Really? I think I'm having more than that. I know you were doing a big one like a 19 pounder. I literally have one in the fridge right now. You want me to tell you want me to tell you about my turkey? Sure. Tell me. Tell me where suggested that's very suggestive sports Talk radio. We're always walking around. Yeah, that was really picked it up today. Okay? Picked it up today. Sorry. Rat out the butcher's Alameda. You know small? Yeah. Yeah. Ana rather already off to a great start picking up turkeys. The entire damn island was at the butcher shop at 10 o'clock this morning, picking up a turkey. It's like a tradition. What? Yeah. What else would you do today? It's a valid point. But we all got there right is the butcher opened? And, uh, yeah. Listen, man, that thing is slathered in butter, msg pepper. And salt, and it is sitting dry brining in my fridge right now. I'm putting on the smoker tomorrow. How many hours I'm gonna go for it a half What kind of wood ship Using? We're kind of we're rocking with were rocket with an all purpose, but I'm going to throw in some apple at the end. Well, you know, Tim suggested an apple. Yeah. What does the apple to get? A little little just gives a little Yeah, a little bit of sweetness, little bit of kick. You don't want to get to hickory like you know, you don't want it to be, too Woody. You want to have all you want to have that It's turkey. You gotta help it out a little bit. It's not a great day for being honest, I love I love talking food. I love being in the kitchen. Tomorrow is the one day out of the year where I'm just like, Look, whatever, just if there's turkey By two o'clock. I'm fine. I'll be over here on the couch. Two o'clock, man. Whenever I don't care when it is like I mean, you know, I'm going to a clock not getting in the early birds that the early breakfast early bird No, I don't. I don't care when the food is served. I care more about the rules of when the food is served like Do we all have? Do? We have to turn the TV off and all sit around in a circle And we're gonna no, no, no. Give me a paper plate right back to the couch, and I'll see you when we're all asleep on the couch tonight at nine o'clock like that's Please. So I don't care what they serve because it's fun. Good, sir. I'm just going to get up in a commercial, Put food on plates and go right back to where I was. Here's the thing with the two o'clock you do it too early. Now you're taking naps and you're pushing it. If you're gonna have to take naps easily, you're napping it like 56 o'clock that's too late to be taken nap. Well, first of all tomorrow. No, it's not. Because once we get to five o'clock, we've got nothing. We've got no reason that we don't have a college game or something. We don't have Netflix anymore. Go to sleep at five o'clock tomorrow and wake up on Friday for a turkey sandwich. But if you do it, too, if you're doing it, too, and you do it right because you're supposed to really pig out. But after, said nap You get back up. Hawaii is probably playing somebody. That's what I'm saying. And you've got room for. You've got time for another meal like I'm going back at nine o'clock, and we're doing it again. Aren't you just playing a dangerous game? My friend I can appreciate the confidence and listen. "The and with millie as the blissful butcher. she's just very. She doesn't talk very much in very walking very slow and methodical with a very just evil. Look in her. I just like she's in a trance. And then vince. Vaughn turns around and is basically vince. Vaughn is very comedic and just hilarious and just acts like he's the teenage girl and that's right. There is what i wanted. that's what i actually enjoyed. Is all the scenes. That vince vaughn was in. I loved i wanted more. Vince vaughn. Because of what he brought to the screen he was hilarious. He was the probably the best part of the movie. Obviously vince vaughn in. It just proved how well of an actor he is and how what his ranges. So i really enjoy. I wanted to see more of him and just for him to go around and acting like a teenage girl like he was like he was really was just. It was hilarious And that's what. I really enjoyed the most in. This movie was vince vaughn. He was the one that really made me. Enjoy this movie. So much more than i probably would have. And but the downfall in it is like i said the first ten minutes you had like four like completely gruesome kills the rest of the movie. You probably had a total. I kind of forgot to really count. But i'm gonna say probably about six kills adb within an hour and twenty minutes so you went from four kills and ten four kills and ten minutes to about six kills in an hour and twenty so the horror aspect of it kind of was at the very beginning in a way and then the next hour and twenty was a lot of comedy in him trying to get his body back after he basically millie's friends finally believe. Vince vaughn that he's million. How all of a sudden they believe the body swap thing and which was hilarious in itself. And you know. There's a lot of faults in this movie but the thing is is that this movie knows exactly what it is and it was not meant to be taken seriously. It was supposed to be just fun and entertaining. And that's what it did.

"Reviews today. Start with the horror comedy starring Vince von. Honestly, If this was a I'd be one of the first ones to get killed. It turns out why am I e didn't get killed. Oh, my God. Why did I sound like that? I woke up in the killer's body. Sounds like it could be pretty good, actually. Yeah, this is ah, a fun movie of fun horror comedy. It comes from the Director Christopher Land. Landon Michael Landon son who made the Happy Death Day movies, which were very successful comedy or movies. Uh, this is a mash up. Send up of freaky Friday. You remember that body swap movie with, uh, Disney made it twice, actually. On. It's a mash up of that with Friday the 13th so it's actually like Freaky Friday. The 13th in which mostly young high school girl played by Katherine Newton, has your body switch magically with that of a serial killer played by Vince Vaughn. So Vince von runs around through the entire movie acting like a teenage girl. On with his friends. He's trying to get his body back. His real body back the girl's body back while the girl is going around the high school, killing off people in very graphic ways. I must say this is R rated. And so the deaths are pretty gory, comically so, but still gory. But don't worry. The victims were all people who deserve it. The nasty shop teacher, the mean girl on campus and the sexist boys, you know s so you want to see them get off. On the movie works pretty well. It's It's predictable. It's less predictable in terms of the plot twists than Happy Death Day, Woz, But it's a diverting mash up send up of these two genres. And Vince Vaughn is really very good here in portraying this burly, serial killer guy who suddenly turned into a squealing young girl. It's ah, one of the performances you're going to remember. I think from 2020. There will be some of those after all. S O overall, Freaky is a pretty good bet For people who like this sort of thing. It's available only in theaters. By the way. This is not available streaming right now. It sounds like my daughter would like it because she likes that kind of thing. So all right, coming up next, a thriller that was actually inspired by the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 is called Dead Reckoning. Just graduated and summer while going to college. Soon. We were just having fun of it. I'm FBI agent Richard Cantwell..

And you know, some people are thinking. Oh, you know ominously, this could pave the way for some kind of seizure of power some kind of coup, but that's likely not the case. What is more likely is that he wants to fulfill his promise of withdrawing troops from Afghanistan. So we'll look at whether or not that's possible. And whether or not he could do that in the next several weeks. It's an enormous effort to get all these troops out. And so it's not gonna be accomplished by by January 20th. But it could leave just chaos and ah lot of uncertainty for Joe Biden to pick up when he is sworn in. So the new people could order those withdrawals without Oversight of the military. Well, the thinking is that he got rid of people who were not who objected to this plan, right? God, and so he is installed people who are Trump loyalists and okay, who would say? Yeah, Okay, let's move ahead. We're going to do that. Wow. So we'll talk about what that means. It is, after all, America's longest war. Yeah. Uh, Trump did promise to end it when he was elected. It really does apply to this bill right here. The movies very very very trophy. It in that which i'm using on purpose. Yes some of that can be good or bad for this now. Because i'm not saying trumpian in a bad way because i tell you man when When this is in the what is what is in the area is good. There's there's this for this to be a comedy. There's some good kills in here. Man i mean is it doesn't skimp on on the blood is like it does not just just because we just because it's a comedy don't let these chuckles for you. We'll kill the fuck out of people in in. They do man as i mean with the opening the opening of this movie man because they're resourceful with the kills in this the first five minutes somebody gets killed with a tennis racket and a toilet even jason bateman mullick. Dan create a toilet. Okay don't think of that before. Yeah maybe a little brutal for me. Though this man. I mean anything is a weapon home. Ronald almost scared of his mind right. Because vince vaughn. He's just using household items can kill you lint. He wanted to. I mean resourceful. Man is very gory. The the the the the kills that we have here. So as far as at this from a har- angle actually thought that that was. I thought it was pretty cool. Did that at the beginning of the merce killed in the movie is like yeah like four. Kills right off the bat. And they're all gory and brutal. Yes and grit your teeth through them and you'll like all right and you know a bit ridiculous but within the genre must what jason does. This really is a rift on friday. The thirteenth is even Vince vaughn is even wearing a stone hockey mess which they don't explain no they don't and they get rid of. Jason came in and said all right five minutes and that been a nazi that masks. Yeah this this right here. Yeah come on you know. We looked like a turtle shell with holes in home. What now? Well, know the It's not a bad story. It's actually quite a nice story for those of you that saw the movie. You saw Ginny's Jones? She was the woman who bore at took his daughter, The actors who played his daughter to to baby sit her. She was great. He was doing some other things. Very, very lovely, Very kind Woman who was, you know, trying to talk some sense, she thought That a documentary was being made about child brides. If you didn't know that it was Borat. She didn't know what was going on. I mean, she was like almost everybody else in the movie. Kind of tricked into doing this scene, but she was very sweet and very nice to the actress who's playing Borat's daughter. Who? Ah, you know what? It wanted to be married. Teo somebody else. So the backstory on this Denise Jones was that she was recruited at her church to participate in this because they thought it was a documentary. She did get paid by the boar at people. To do this. You got $3600 for from the Boer at people for her participation, But it turns out that because of covert 19 Jenny's Jones wound up losing her job and suddenly did not have any money. Her pastor. So you know you want to participate if you want to donate. You go to Janie's Jones on Go Fund me or you'll be able to find the page donation. A very caring person. Obviously tell us about Vince Vaughn. Vince has AH new movie coming out. He hasn't been in one in a while in a feature film. His new movie is called Freaky. Between a serial killer and a lovely high school student. There is this guy that's going around and killing people in their town. And when he is about to stab this lovely high school girl There is a body switch that happens. So the lovely little high school girl becomes the serial killer. And Vince Vaughn becomes Ah High school girl, and the just The whole premise is really, really kind of cute and kind of funny aunts. The fun movie for Halloween comes out on the Friday the 13th So you know, we've got a little time before that comes up, But I caught up with Vince yesterday. Roll pal on a zoom chap. Events sort of welcome home in this weird virtual world that we're living in now. Thank you, my friend. It's good to see you. D Likewise. Likewise. So have you been quarantine E in California? Have you been back in the Chicago area at all with family? No. I've been out here for the for the quarantine, although I did struggle through the Bears game last night, watching them pretty good up until this point. You're pretty much living in l a all the time Now. I mean, for a while, you have a place downtown. You had a place out in Lake Forest. But you're pretty much living the life now, right around California had you know I did Look back in Chicago, Not too long ago, and I still go back. Obviously. Hopefully, when this thing gets over, I'd like to spend a lot of time still, but I've been out here more So what have you been doing during the quarantine? Vince? My housing has been like little house on the prairie. Got two kids and they're kind of learning here at home. I have some other kids come overto learn, so they have to To do stuff with, but it's been great getting to spend time with the family. Please tell me that you're doing e learning with the kids because I'm imagining this whole Vince Yvonne the learning scenario in my Way, had a challenging mall last night Remind my daughter came and asked me a math question, and I sort of explained it to the best of my ability. It was the only one she got wrong on the test is Hitler said, No. We have to keep it the way that it is, And I sort of felt responsible that my my advice. Was not complete enough for her to solve. So, Yeah, I don't know of any parents can relate to that where you're helping the kids with the homework, and you're the one that makes the mistake on that. But that's that's what Vince is going through in his house. Right now. I take that tape Letterman on Kimmel last night. Do you have time to sneak in a little bit of that? Are you guys on Google play guys on Google podcast that combining a lot of that into youtube music and that format and all that might be the best way to go and combining into one platform because youtube is their most successful outlet and putting. Google play music and blending that in hopefully even Google podcasts as well into one format youtube music combining that name I think is a is the right way to go. Yeah. Google. Is One of those companies that has like too many. Eggs in the basket you know why? Why do so many things separately when you can kind of come the same thing with like facebook and instagram and I don't know who owns tiktok. These days are nobody would seem but instead of competing with each other they should just. Combine them. Yeah. I do on my music off of. itunes still. So I don't I have never used you to accept to like. Check out a music video at somebody posted but. It does seem like a better idea to combine everything into into one place and Google play especially I know. The huge place for podcasters. So you know that would make sense and I don't know if Google competes necessarily with itunes but you know they were to. Bring all their branding together into one thing they could very well give. A run for their money. Absolutely I think is something. As. A repositioning usually were kind of like an standoffish on sometimes on a lot of this stuff. But I think if they combine all their assets as far as audio, wise into a youtube music platform I, think that's the best decision for them going forward and I look forward to seeing more from Youtube music and hearing more from Youtube music you're in the not too distant future because I think that type of platform is going to be the best one for android. Users and anybody else who wants to be interested in the service going forward because anybody who really utilizes youtube they associate a lot what they do with Youtube and having you to music is probably the best way to go. Yeah I agree it seems like the best choice I know a lot of people subscribed the youtube premium just to be able to listen to music without having to worry about commercials popping up. So this could be the best path moving forward for them. Hopefully people will get into a two again there's over five hundred million people that've already switched over to youtube music, and it looks like that the switch over from Google play music is going to be a good one or google. What are your thoughts out there on Youtube Music? Is it something? You're now getting into a switch that you're going to make from Google music to Youtube Music and as at one that you really into jared thoughts pop culture cosmos at Yahoo Dot Com when my friend I wanted to ask you real quick if you saw the trailer for Freaky. Because Vince Monster Career has not gone in the right direction since wedding crashers, it's kind of gone. Downhill Downhill dodgeball Y'all great movie for him a great vehicle. That his career is Kinda put been on the stall and a little bit of decline as of late in this decade. So I want to ask your thoughts on Freaky, which could be comeback vehicle for them. It's from Blue House. All, these low budget, High Prophet, Thai films, Happy Birthday, and then they had to happy birthday to you. Yes. For the makers of. Happy Death Day, it is freaky. A teenage girl. And a a serial killer that's around the town Aka Vince Vaughn. They magically switched places. I guess she is attacked by this killer, but somehow something goes wrong. Something goes awry or some rituals performed or something happens that. You know automatically switches them both. He becomes her she becomes him, they switch bodies and all that. So she ends up going to high school and trying to shock her upon shockers my friend. GOES TO TRY kill off all of her fellow students with Vince Vaughn and a couple of I, guess teenage characters who find the believe that is actually the girl inside his body trying to go ahead and say the school. So I want to hear your thoughts as a comeback vehicle for Vince Vaughn I think this is great. It Looks It looks really funny. In a looks really enjoyable and it's something that if it was again, one of these bloom house low budget, high return type investments, this could be another big hit for them. Yeah. I mean I would be interested in watching this I heard that it was a horror movie, but it sounds like it's more of like a freaky Friday slasher movie. It's a horror comedy so. Yeah. I mean I. This definitely sounds like something I could be interested in it seems like Vince Vaughn would be the right person to play that hard not having the whole Body switching being. Yeah being a a woman trapped in a man's body like that sounds like that's like right up his Him being able to support trae without be like would be Kinda right up his alley and he's trying to convince friends that she's in his body. So she has to do the cheerleading scenes because she's a cheerleader. So she's doing the cheerleading scenes that as far as for the high school and and you see. Her as a killer with Vince Vaughn and in her body and. It's just it's. It's really amusing. It's a really. Novel concept an interesting way to go because I've seen these horror movies done to death in a certain fashion kill off ABC IN D. Kill off all the teenagers and two story and Happy Death Day to you and Happy Death Day were very interesting approach in the groundhog day type format. So this is another look at that type of horror genre in a different format. So I'm really intrigued to see how Vince Vaughn and freaky is going to work with audiences. I. Think it is I. Think it really is I think it's a great way to get him back into the limelight and this is one of those. Very, low investment with a potential high return that we've seen from blue, house to I. Mean this could be one of those again ten fifteen, million dollar coster, even less type formats. And yet, it could receive even in a pandemic is still receive a high return. Yeah. Yeah and it seems like a movie that's aware of itself which is, makes it even better because that's what like Happy Death Day was very aware of itself and that's what kind of made that movie. Enjoyable. Absolutely, so I'm looking forward to getting freaky. In Vince Vaughn's upcoming horror movie coming out later this year. Scheduled to end is whether or not actually does we'll wait and see. But if you've got the freaky trailer yet, please let us know what are your thoughts on Vince Vaughn's do movie freaky coming out in the not too distant future. If you're interested in this horror movie with a different type of feel actually a different freaky Friday type feel we'd.

"Instinct upon seeing Vince Vaughn shake hands of the president I'd states if your instinct was to criticize Vince Vaughn if you did that you are absolutely part of the problem in the country but don't worry I'm gonna offer you some help so nine eight nine seven three get ready to tell me I'm wrong and why I'm wrong has got judges now car radio there is a bill that skating some bipartisan support it's a privacy bill of sorts so let's talk about that will come back and glad to be here as always Todd thank you so what is in this bill this this getting this bipartisan support this privacy bill what would that do for folks so this is a consumer data privacy bill is from senator democratic senator Reuven Carlyle and essentially what this does is really gives you and I are the right a lot more rights over our our data and this would apply to companies such as Facebook or Microsoft or other smaller data company data companies that you know sell your data for whatever reason ads and things like that and what this lets you do it would let you delete I'm move around opt out a change correct all of those types of things to your data and and they have if you call and you ask any request information about the data they have to tell you what they're doing with it and there's various sorts of kind of transparency measures involved in this and there was some issues last year with it and as they came in at a press conference yesterday saying that they've got like ninety five percent bipartisan support right now I think one of that one of the issues is that at it you can't do lawsuits and and there's also tied to the state facial recognition bell I should point out that is is also kind of being teamed up it was those two that they said that about ninety five percent agreement on at this point Hannah it seems like it's fairly closely tailored to the California law that passed fairly similar to this regarding is is that is that a fair comparison it absolutely is very much tailored towards side the California law and then also some some similar lives out laws that are on the books in Europe so I had a Scots with this car radio bill in only be getting some bipartisan support we give you the opportunity to contact a company say Hey what data of mine do you have what are you doing with it maybe can get that data zaps my car to point out just like the one are very similar to California quick question are they doing this for government agencies to because government agency sell a lot of our data so do you get to call a different agency and request they stop that I do not see that specifically mentioned in here but I will be sure to listen when it comes up for hearing tomorrow Hannah so what from a practical application I mean do you don't know yet what is of say someone signing up for an account with the company let's just say they're going to a retailer or even Amazon what is it what's going to change from their process going in are they gonna see new boxes to check about their data or they get a CD warnings or do we know yet what it's going to actually look like to the average consumer I don't think I have specific I details on what it's gonna look like to the consumers I but I think that the scenario you just described would would for sure especially for talking about an opt out I I know in this not necessarily the signing up but when you when you are engaged with the company for whatever reason you know that they may I have your data the big change I think is going to be that you can call them up and they have to tell you when you ask there's no getting around that and enforcement by the way for this would be it would fall under the Attorney General exclusively he would be the one to to be covering less so for it wouldn't I'm sorry and I was just gonna say for example what what does Amazon Microsoft say about a bill like this that would directly impact their ability to collect our data I haven't seen a lot of push back from them so far I am seeing a lot of push back right from the from the a so you on the facial recognition bell which again is a little bit separate but I have not seen a big push from this site they've you know we talked about yesterday at the press conference that they've engage multiple stakeholders which means all of those companies I believe are are part of this conversation just to see what Microsoft does because Microsoft has been looking for the way to harm Google for years and if I'm even this I don't say they've stepped out a search for they've stepped out of Google's wait a lot of areas they're focusing down in their core you know area of excellence at Microsoft I think they would love this because Facebook and ends and Google are much more dependent upon data revenue for this so I could even see Microsoft are pregnant background on this with a ticket would harm Google and Facebook more than what our Microsoft yeah I I think you're absolutely right I think this is actually a kind of a tweaked version of a bill that came up and failed last session and Microsoft was a big part of that conversation was absolutely behind that a push for that so I I think you're definitely right on that I want to point out quickly to that this you know it would apply to all of them basically businesses that have data or control your date I should say and have a hundred thousand consumers are more data have that many people would be subject to this and then also any businesses that have half of their revenue from the sale of personal data so that's gonna be the smaller companies that are gonna be subjected to this regulations will be interesting to see how those type of companies are affected I think it's interesting though you said the AG's office would be in charge of enforcement because I'm not concerned about you know the Amazon Microsoft so the world getting my data I'm concerned about what happens to it next and that's when sold to the brokers so I would hope the AG's office would then take up some of lawsuits against some of these brokers right and that's why it would be a it would be exclusively through him but there was a lot of push back last session on the ability for a consumer to file a lawsuit Hannah what this I actually you said something about the bill that I had to actually read read read past did notice that half of your revenue as seems like sort of an interesting threshold like why wouldn't companies then cooked the books to make it less than half the revenue are fights with a sub divide the company because it seems like giving those small companies a pass is also giving people a complete loop hole in it not actually being bit meeting the same requirements as far as data disclosure yeah and you're you're absolutely right I I'm not I it seems like that could I think that's but usually when we're talking about that kind of an ad revenue coming for this we're talking about your smaller retail companies that have that data perhaps I've not heard that specific question come up but I would not be surprised if it did because it does seem like you could definitely cook your books and and get away with something there yeah just got so this car radio one more question about this this this act here that would currently give you the opportunity to get on the phone and call the company and ask Hey what did you have it such I hope to put that on the web because you never get through on the phone you know it's a lot of data about us is political parties the Democratic the Democrats state Democrat party the state Republican Party owns a whole bunch of data about every single voter here I'm talking three hundred four hundred data fields per person are they included in this can we call them and say Hey what data have about me and go ahead in the race that or is this just companies I don't see them specifically named or excluded and it just with the bill that the language in the bill says controllers of of data but again it has those threshold at the one hundred thousand mark is someone who controls the personal consumer data of one hundred thousand people so I think it could fall under that I I don't see it one way or the other all rights and be interesting I would be shocked if if politician I don't pretty good to call Bob for receive me like Hey I got an idea for yeah well you know a lot of times Bob calls me for ideas yeah because he and I are very very close Bob Ferguson I he likes the nickname to given that such a all rights I had a Scott we appreciate you coming on car radio you bet right as always a coming up you the opportunity to tell me I'm wrong it's my contention that if your instinct upon seeing Vince Vaughn shake hands the president I'd states if your instinct was anger there's something wrong with you particularly if you're not a fan of the presidency then you're part of the problem in that case in that case nine eight nine seven three get ready tell me I'm wrong why I'm wrong let's get a traffic report now from Tracy Taylor brought you by Michael super of bill DOT tweeting out a picture where it says a plow is headed back into the maintenance yard to re feel and get it's ready ever get ready for tonight and this afternoon withstand insults so they've treated five twenty hopefully not to have a repeat of last night but let's The Movie "Rudy" vs. The Actual Rudy
"Ryan. I imagine most people listening to this have scene Rudy. Yes but for those who have not who apparently Do not have cable. Television during the holidays grew up in the Soviet you couldn't have seen it. We'll we'll recap for them briefly Rudy is a story of Rudy Ruediger. Play by Sean Astin. He is a small kid from the Mid West. He spent his whole life dreaming of playing football football for Notre Dame. He tries and fails multiple times. Transfers to the school. Walks on Makes Vince Vaughn. Young Vince Vaughn very angry and the versions various things So he doesn't make the dress for any of the Games during his senior year and he quits but then his friend the head groundskeeper at Notre Dame fortune who. I'm pretty sure it's a composite character. I can fix that. It's not pretty sure it's one hundred percent sure. So he convinces him to return to the team gives a great speech So really does his and he is greeted by his teammates and Ryan. What happens next? Well you're missing a couple of slow collapse controls. Dutton Charles us to claps and a team along flat and then He dresses is teammates. Throw their jerseys down. Dan Devine's desk. I won't Rudy on on the roster. He makes the dress list and he gets in for three. Plays possible as the rudy chant. Cascades down from New Rodney's bleachers and they inserted into game one for a a horribly play kickoff coverage and then he almost has a sack on his first play from scrimmage does have a sack on his last play and third ever play and is carried off feel about his teammates to the chant Stewart. Together it was much better than what we just did. The first first time you saw rudy the movie. I'm older than you are. I saw rudy in the theater. I was in college and I think it was what WH- fall of ninety three and saw with my roommates and the interesting thing was we're students at the University of Tennessee. We had just been to Notre Dame for the first time all of us. We drove up to south southbound from Knoxville for a game and so what was amazing about watching. The movie is is just stadium. Had not changed the Tom Rudy. was there in the early seventies all the way up through the early nineties really all the way up until about five or six years ago. The stadium itself did not change at all. The scoreboard was the same. The old wooden bench seats that knute rockne installed old you know in the Nineteen Twenties Thirties. There were still in the stadium. Notre Dame is a divisive topic regardless whether good or bad and now this movie comes out and the hilarious thing about that movie was people love the movie and a lot of them would not admit it because it was about. I'm leaving but I also feel like I've watched rudy three hundred times especially around Christmas time always on cable and it's like one of the few things the family can agree on is just it's a great story. It is a college football equivalent equivalent of the miracle on ice or any underdog story so the movie is released in Nineteen ninety-three but that's not the only thing that that enters the public. I the Real Ridi Ruediger starts to make appearances to promote film is stories about obstacles of life. It's about people striving to succeed. It's about people saying people saying to him. You can't be this and you can't be that you can't have this job. Experts about or you can come in Notre Dame play football. I have the most traditional story the most biggest fantasy and it came through rudy is now seventy one years old. He lives in Henderson Nevada. Just outside Las Vegas. You flew out to meet him this summer. What was that like? It was an out of body experience which is tired phrase. But that's exactly how I felt and you walk up in your mind. You're kind of looking for Sean Sean. Astin and then you realize oh no wait this older gentleman in the Notre Dame windbreaker. That's the gum looking for wearing. Notre Dame windbreaker. Yeah in his official reason reason for that was awarded this so that you'll be able to recognize me. No this is. Hey there's rudy sitting there but what I've learned sense is that He pretty much wears that all the time. I I think people have their own idea about what he's like based on the movie but what does he really likes. He's rough around the edges. He's not as polished as you. Maybe expect a guy who makes his living as a motivational speaker be worries. We'll play in Ohio state man. You're coming in I'm bringing you. We're going to show the movie to the boys. Ace said all right Notre Dame movies. Don't worry about it as shit. This is not gonNA work. He drops off bombs. He calls everybody coach which he calls the waitress at the coffee. Bean coach where you WanNa go coach. Talk to you. There's June. He calls the song coach. He called me coach. He doesn't so much at some point. You start mimicking it. The WTF Movies of 2019 So Far
"I'm Shawn fantasy an animated, and this is the big picture a conversation show about movies, I guess because movies are still happening in the shadow of game of thrones were having kind of a weird conversation this week, Amanda, and I are going to be talking about what I thought was going to be the best movies of the year so far, but as we went down the list, and we thought about what we've seen thus far. And what we wanted to see we realized that this has been kind of an odd year for movies. So we asked you guys on Twitter. What you wanted to hear talk about you gave us a lot of responses. Some of those films are brilliant. We've talked about some of them on previous episodes ashes purest white, for example, or or transit or us. We spent a lotta time on us shot. We spend a lot of time a long shot Apollo eleven. These are all fascinating brilliant, beautifully crafted movies. We'll talk a little bit about them here. And there as we're going through this. But Amanda, I think it's probably better if we talk about movies that confounded us confused us excited us and ultimately left us. Just wanting to talk. Yes. So here we are to talk. I'm gonna I was ultimately inspired by seeing dragged across concrete. Have you seen that movie? I have not because I think everyone in my life has encouraged me not to I don't think you need to see it. It's Dorothy by minimum as Craig Zoeller. It was there was some notoriety around it because Ahlers movies have a particular political bent, kind of free speech, a finding that some have perceived as very conservative. It's a movie that stars Mel Gibson in Vince Vaughn as to police officers who have been suspended and then spend their free time trying to stop a Bank robbery. Boy, it's larded with a lot of intellectual and political complications. It's not really worth unpacking here. You know, there's been some really good writing about it on the ring dot com. I would encourage you check that out Chris Ryan and Adam name and had a conversation about it on the watch a couple of months ago. And I think that was part of the reason that they spend an hour talking about it. And at the end, we're like we cannot endorse this, but also here all our thoughts about it. Yes. I walked away feeling the same way though. Less interested like less excited by what it did. But it does feel like an onramp into this conversation because there's a lot of cool stuff in it. It's very well made Zoeller is obviously an artistic person I do not agree with many of his ideas about humanity. And it left me feeling like I had both wasted my time and saw something unique. And I think that that's definitely a theme perhaps a segue to the movie serenity. Wow. Yes. So this was maybe this was among the most requested in the call for submission. I think it was the number one request. Why do you think that that was to be set up serenity in any way? Oh, gosh. I guess we how do we train serenity? Let stars Matthew mcconaughey and Anne Hathaway to bona fide movie stars which is of note and it begins as a kinda Morrish or Neo Noir ish situation on an island, and Matthew mcconaughey has a white whale of his own called tuna. And he also has. Some demons and an ex wife who needs some help. Then that's in Hatheway, that's pretty much it. He's a fisherman. He is he's got an habit pursuit of Justice the tuna that you're ferring to and he's got a first mate enjoyment, Han Soo and Hathaway plays that ex wife and he's got a kid. We keep hearing about that we see and his ex wife's got a husband played by Jason Clark. And this movie is hysterical. And I don't mean, it's funny. I mean, it is literally operating in hysterics the whole movie is the most pitched up over the top preposterously plotted movie of seen in a long time when it came out mile Surrey wrote on the ringer about all of it's absurd. What the fuck nece, and I didn't read that piece at the time because I didn't want to spoil for me. And it took me a couple of months to get around to this. And usually when someone says, you gotta see this movie. It is effing insane. I go quickly before whatever reason I didn't get to it. I don't think you to either. No, no. I watched it at home. Which we'll come back to. So Stephen Knight Ronin directed this movie. Stephen night is best known. I think for creating peaky blinders which is a show on Netflix. And he's written a handful of movies here and there, and he's thought to be a very well respected writer director in Hollywood. I I'm I'm just baffled by this movie. I don't understand what he was going for. I mean, let's just say that we're we have to spoil the talk about this movie. So if you haven't seen serenity, and you wanna see serenity, I guess I can sort of recommend it as an ultimate Curio in American movie going, but it's pretty bad rate. It's not I all of the hubbub. I thought this was a good what the fuck movie, and it does not really deliver. It's more just kind of like how did this happen? And how did this many people make it this far, and sink that this all came together? So now, we're going to we're going to spoil the reveal spoil away. It's video game. It's a video video game. And they carry the son who is referenced throughout the movie, and then like all shown like eighteen times throughout the movie is programming. This whole world. And everyone else is fiction of his imagination. And he's doing it to like connect with his fictional dad or something or for a father figure and to avenge his real life stepdad, which we should talk about the problematic aspects of that. But anyway to your point of what this was trying to do. I thought it was like matrix gone. Extremely wrong. Right. I thought that it was trying to engage with the idea of. You know, the video games, and the captured that they have on culture right now and imagination and that idea of the simulation, and what's real. And what's not and revenge and the game if occasion of life, I think that that is my most generous reading of what is going on here. I do not think it delivers on any of it. And I do find that kind of video game to real life violence aspect a little troubling. So I will say as a twelve year old computer geniuses evocation of what adult conflict is a what an adult's life is like an adult who lives on an island called Plymouth island, which is somehow tropical. I'm not sure if there is a tropical island called island. It actually seemed on point because when you're thirteen you don't really understand what it's like to be an human adult, and what it's like to have problems in demons. You know, there's a lot of complicated ideas in the movie math mcconaghy's. Character is a war veteran and Hathaway's. Character is a survivor of domestic abuse. Yes. There are some some really weighty females here. And by the same token, the like, I said the movies just kind of hysterical. The kid the actors are going so over the top in every scene and Hathaway, I think is more or less playing Barbara Stanwick kind of like forties. Fifties era kinda bombshell Dame who's trying to draw a somewhat innocent man into an awful plot. Sort of like the postman always rings twice, you know, meth mcconaghy's kind of the John Garfield going. But they're so pitched up and it's also happening on a boat, which is kind of a ridiculous setting. That's that. I I was just just really confused by how actively bad it was. And I know that seems like a simple criticism. But even if it was a commentary on the way that thirteen year old sees adults. I still thought it would something was missing. Does that does that make sense? Yeah. I will also say I I watched it at home as did you and it really suffered from that. And I would like to talk more about the context in which we receive all of these movies because I think it is increasingly important, but for this one you you really had to pay attention because it it was making logical jumps and giving pieces of so-called information that you were you saw the you're solving mystery. Yes. And I I suppose in a way you were more kind of on a on a video game quest, which as I I'm told requires a lot of focus, which is not what I give to movies. So I would I would. Honestly, look away for ten seconds. And then five new characters would be screaming about something that was like oh shit while I messed up miss something. And I had to rewind. And then it's not like the ten seconds that I missed provided any information or insight. It was just kind of jumping around. So I I actually experienced the real gaps between the ideas it like literally because I thought that I kept missing something. And then it just was never really there. It's funny. United spend a lot of time on this show talking about the movies. They don't make any more. They don't make built dramas. They don't make thrillers. They don't make rom coms. They don't, you know, all of these categories were always talking about lamenting, oh Hollywood is lost its way. And it's all big ten actions that piece movies. This is the kind of movie that we're saying they don't make any more movie stars leaning into a big showy part. It's high concept. It's not based on any IP. And yet

"I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully. Hello and welcome to the spoilt Milt movie podcast hair spoilt milk. We like to discuss destroy and dissect guilty pleasure movies and decide whether they're truly spoilt milk or if they ascended into fine, looks Yoris cheese. So without further ado, we go. Warning who's podcast is full of spoilers for the title feature on this body language from the start. If you've never seen the film or your fended by Bob language, you hop him warrant. Hello, and welcome to a very special one off episode of the spoilt milk movie podcast of late. We've had a bit of a change in the structure to the way that things work at spoilt milk. And that's due to silly old me cham- getting married. So I've been preparing for a wedding actually having a wedding, and I'm going off on my jollies on my honeymoon. So they last episode was the Hobo and Cutty talking about some recent trailers I folk in loved the episode. All laughing might itself. This time I'm going to use a wedding theme and I'm gonna go through my top ten wedding scenes from films. So in number ten, it was a close toss, oh, between the godfather and another film, but I actually went for deer hunter, the Michael cheeky. No film won't five Oscars including best pitcher. And this is a Vietnam film from the seventies. Deer hunt is a really long film goes on for nearly three hours believe and the first hour is all set in a wedding. Really great seen rarely jokes deposes the violence on the trauma that's going to come later in the film by having a huge one hour celebration of the marriage of the what you believe to be the protagonist, but we ought to find out dinner. We'll take over the film. This film is amazing. It's an absolute classic and is one of my favorites. But I actually would like to just talk about the scene in the bar where deniro Christopher Walken meet the green beret character. So there's a green beret the bar, and he's just having a drink on his own and deniro Walkin and to the bar, and they're very cocky, very brash show in things like put me where they are chin is I wanna see the wall, they're on their way to the wall, and this Beres very silently drinking to himself. The approach him by Madrid. Ink talk about? Yeah. What's the wall like? Tell some stories, and he just replies with fuck it and deniro gets very Robert in air on this one starts together. It more intimidate in what you mean folk it. The Barry sits doesn't really say anything more day narrows kicking off somebody's pulling him back, leave it, leave it. Fuck it. Foco Foco and he goes no by you. Another drink and the guy says, fuck it. Not only is seen an absolute masterclass in acting from deniro ee. Absolutely. Outshines walking in the Centaur film. But it really gives you that sense early on that this isn't going to be a fun film. It's not gonna be a war film set to a poppy soundtrack where everything's Rosie, and maybe you see some guns and so much. And this is going to be a gritty t war film. That just says, fuck it. Number nine, his first appearance of an animated film and it's picks up. So it's not as much about just a wedding scene in general as opening sequence if you've ever seen. Nope. You'll know what I'm talking about. So we're introduced to the character of collars young boy and throughout the film, we get to see that he is a bit bit with life. He's almost given all p. stays at home. He's not interested in the world. But right at the start of the film, we get this show sequence that tells you the story of column. What brought him to the be the mon- the ears we see him meet his future wife as young child, they bombed over a balloon and then they fall in love, and they have this wedding sequence where you just see a photo get taken, and then she jumps on him and kisses him. It's really
