"Cold pledges I like to do in the summer. I find they're more of like a mental thing for me than really a lot of help recovery wise. I feel like during the season when I do them, I don't feel as good the next day. I feel like kind of stiff and sore. So for me, I just like to do them in the summer where it kind of like is just an extra edge, I guess, mentally keeps me kind of sharp mentally or makes me do something I'm uncomfortable with, which I think helps. So for me, cold plunges are just more of a mental thing rather than a recovery thing. There was just a study that came out and I'll link it in the show notes, but it proved that cold plunges are not good for muscle growth. So bodybuilders, athletes out there trying to get big and huge, maybe not the goalies of the world. It definitely does not help with that aspect, but I like it for the mental aspect, right? Like seeking out discomfort, actually Mike Ivera, who was on the last episode, Mr. Do It Moving is his Instagram handle. He's a coach for NBA guys. Yes. Victoria Azarenka's coach for a while, strength and conditioning coach. And she does it every morning because routine's crazy. Wakes up at 4 a.m., goes through that cold plunge and that's mainly for the mental aspect. I don't know how much it helps for the, maybe I think it's recovery. If you're trying to run a triath on her stuff, maybe it's gonna help there, but man, I love the cold plunges, like a little toss in there, change up the pace, especially when you're here and it's at freaking 90, 100. Yeah, I found also doing them in the evening before bed in the summer when it's hot out, it's nice. It helps you, for me, it helped me get a good night's sleep. I like going to bed a little cold so I'm not too hot, wake up hot in the middle of the night. So yeah, I think it's good. It's probably different for everybody. Some people might swear by the recovery benefits of it, but for me, that part's not there. It's more of the mind and the sleep. And I also looked at my notes here and realized I hadn't brought up the fact that you journal and that helped around some anxiety, other aspects of your game, both mental, physical. You wanna touch on how that impacts you positively? Yeah, I think journaling's, it's just kind of a tool. I think if you're holding stuff in, it can have outward effects that you don't even know about. So I find that journaling is just a way to get stuff off my chest if I'm frustrated or if I'm holding something in, I can write about it and then I'm no longer holding onto it. So if I have a bad practice or a bad game or even if things are going great, then it keeps you level-headed, I think, and you're not holding onto stuff that happened in the past. Or if you're anxious about something that may happen, I find writing about it takes that away. So journaling has just been a tool to kind of keep me from holding onto things. And it's been something that's kind of, I've evolved over time and it's been super useful.

Remember last year when Charleston, when it was raining and you were dancing? I was dancing. Do you want to do a TikTok? I want to talk about the full story of that. "And perhaps the matchup doesn't really work that well for sits say we could be on for an absolute humdinger. Which is why. I'm quite excited. And sparrow mark Thinking yeah if they could just tie themselves. I'll then i'll be looking good for the semi. Yeah i mean. Sits surpassed came through against public arena. Pistole like you said it was gonna be straight-sets six three six seven five. Pcb was a break up in the in that low set better. He wasn't able to capitalize on that. Unfortunately i think what was impressive about the the surpassed. Victory was the fact that he went from beating. Someone like giannis gonna to then you know in in three sets to them beating crunchy vista in three sets to completely different types of players. One player where you know. You're not really gonna get extended rallies it's going to be much more on the start of the of the point whereas pcp is he's a he's a play can kasichs spanish. Clay quarter loves the loves long rallies loves the being far behind the side and being in the point is as long as possible. Say i think what was for me. Quite impressive was the way he was able to adapt yet between that round three and round full match and he didn't even need kind of a set to kind of get him into the get into the mood of of understanding. What is he needs to do to beat. Pc be able to do it from the first point. And coming up against medvedev it's gonna be. It's gonna be fascinating because it's weird because you the conditions the conditions if the helping one person in the in the whole of the in the the whole of right on garrels if it feels like. It's daniel methodist eight dollars. And i'm just thinking i mean people were saying torso the irony fits like medvedev of final and then matching left wins to pay about the second seed and i mean he is knee which i mean you just look at. Our collector set predictions not a lot of people. Were expecting him to to live up to his his seeding. But i think the fact that he's been able to make the quarter-finals. I think it's sort of you know he's proving the doubters wrong and the best part of it is the i think the enjoyment that he's showing You know on call with the crowd and it is kind of pace match interviews on on corey. You can tell that of reveling in. And he's just he's just enjoying his tennis and you know when you're enjoying a tennis when you pay your best tennis and that is really what i think is happening or has happened over the first rounds when he's any dropped one set not told me pool who was was at gee i would say quite us quite decent But yeah it's it's again. It's just the way you wanna go in in a slam. And he's he's given himself the best shot. I think taking out surpassed surpasses is probably the most informed player at the moment particularly in the clay season. Yeah medvedevocilla of a kingmaker when it comes to all collect to set because it very much depends on how well he does in the tournament as to. Who's going to win that say we shall be updating potentially after tomorrow night. Let's have a quick look at the ladies from yesterday because We will also have. Potentially hyping a serena visa called final. That definition happening because serena lost suited. Fica sereno lost. Elena rebecca who i was you know as she thought serena was going to be a k with this i saw you know she's come through don now collins She was getting better round by round thaw. she'd be should be fine but as it came to she lost didn't in straight-sets on rebecca played very very well Like she could match serena power wise She had a great serve. Actually hadn't really seen too much reiki. I know had a great a great run at the style of loss jabe. We'd forgotten about her but she's very much back and ready to brief us. I think definitely. I was very surprised. You don't you. Don't see headlines of serena getting out powered by a repairman but i feel like this definitely was one of those matches unfortunately and she really did kind of out muscle her. And i think if the serena williams i think this is the sign of the times i think the power hitters you might she might have been unrivalled in that area or in that style of play. five five six seven years ago whenever but now there are other power hitters out there in reba. Keener is definitely one of them and she showed today she today her claws and again another player. Who is doing really well in. The doubles competition is doing that in the single store as well and she will be i think looking t licking to to to khan really and i think you know. If you're serena williams yes. He didn't come in with with great form. But i think regardless of what she says in terms of you maintaining a positive outlook in the fact that you know. She did say he kind of. I was literally trying to win a match. I still think you've got to look back and think the fact that there six first time finalists. You know a slam level. That's a big opportunity missed. It does make you wonder if serena will actually ever be able to get twenty four because i know she. She hadn't had many matches coming into this and you cross for example is better surface for her. But you know she's going to be out. Hit two out powered. Yeah exactly there's going to be someone that can hit as hard as head now. Let's say many players that can do the because the landscape has completely changed. The game moved on. And you sort of do you question now if you owe. Despite what she saying press conferences that she feels she's closer and she's you know happy with how it's going and the heck's coming into the tournament hadn't been hard which i think is fair enough as a fair assessment but it does you know. I d wonder i have. I have doubts about her and about federal at meudon but they may prove us wrong as they have done before and i think. What's what's kind of interesting is. Because of the serena williams longevity. I mean rebe. Kina was two months old. Two months old. When serena williams won her first grand slam title in the usa in in september one thousand nine hundred ninety nine and you do wonder if he's inspired these players with the. Yeah the style that she you know she brought to the call and you know these is coming up over the years and whether that sort of by biting her behind. Because it's you know they've grown up watching that style and been inspired. By a robo dislike serena williams for example and and and now that that beating her her own game and it happened in in this tournament yet. She's she's going to blame herself. Joe. it's been. She's inspired a generation. And you know unfortunately that might mean that. She doesn't get what she ultimately you know perhaps won't and deserves but she'll have to wait at least another slam st that and i guess another player. The xm champion victoria azarenka. We were very much like hoping she would be able to go. Deep at the storm and again.

Serena Williams upset by Victoria Azarenka at US Open
"So. Niamey's soccer took place in the final and that point. ENACT COVERAGE ON BBC radio we switched from our digital station sports, extra five, which is the network station and. We went big on Serena. Williams against Victoria as a Aranka. Which I have to say I started to think well, it can't possibly live up to what we've just seen in you just Kant. And the first point of the match. Serena. Williams on leashes a four hundred. The almost didn't. It couldn't be tracked by the the camera because it went so fast and it just went out but it felt like such a statement immediately, the I am going to just destroy every tennis bullet comes near me. And I felt like that my of slight rattled as a Aranka just the the shift force integration that was that was hit with. An immediately to breaks of serve to. Serena. Four games to love she led. Won The set six one. and. I don't know about you. But my name was it feels like we've just got an a time machine and back ten twelve years to when Williams was in twenty. It's the way she was running the movement. She was all she was moving right now soccer she's nearly thirty nine and she's hitting the living daylights out of the ball an and it really wobbled as Anka who started just Tara what did you think? Katherine Oh. Yeah it was blistering utterly blistering and I think it was a a mock of the respect that Serena Williams has. Victoria as rancor because her starts Serena have been Radi. Ready. Sluggish. And she's played some really good plays and she says improper tests but I think she needs she simply could not get away with that today. I think a mindset shifted completely. Am I don't know how I don't I genuinely don't know how you can just sort of decide i. I can't get away with doing that today. So I won't. Thing why you why couldn't you trick yourself over into thinking that every day but overseas? Just doesn't psychology doesn't work like that but. She. Yeah. She couldn't afford to give Victoria as. That lead and take her time to work her way into the match as she has been doing. and so she went to completely the other end of the spectrum and made. Pretty much as blistering start tennis match as I have seen as I've seen Serena making in recent memory, it was. It made my eyes Bogle out of my head. At moments. Really did it was like she? Convinced herself that Seraing was Sharapova. I mean how many times we've seen Serena come out with that intensity and that that or against Charipova and just make mincemeat of her certainly within the first set, and that's what she did to as their income in the first set she was. Unbelievably good as you said, crunching the ball moving fantastically and not allowing as incur any chance to set or what. So ever because she was serving well. So kind of dominating the points on her serve and then she was returning as in cassette could serve so strongly and. This was the Serena that I've kept expecting to see this tournament but i. I was beginning to doubt whether she had that level of tennis in her to be honest because I thought I thought we might see Sloan. Stevens I, thought we might see it against Zachary thought we might see against Perron Covi-, kept expecting. To raise her level in this tournament and. She was saving it for today it seemed and as you said I, don't know how you can turn that tap on and off and have control. Today I just. Will be extra. Mom is lengthy. It was like the very revealing candid. Enlightening. pre-match interview with Victoria as Aranka. where she was asked about her poor record against Serena in grand, slams, what do you need to do to get the win tonight? Play better. or or I? will she treated about for match interview with the contempt? It deserves it was. It was great.
