"The instigators presented by Seneca resorts and casinos nothing else comes close all right welcome back rob ray joining us live from his stick room and I I can't get over it raise I've been there before I feel like once back in two thousand three but I don't remember having that many sticks Gregory may from the office investigators on WGR five fifty Jeff Skinner on with us earlier and also you gotta just reimagined that he has made multiple nights three donations of fifty three thousand dollars totaling a hundred and fifty nine thousand odd to three difference charities in Markham Kitchener and buffalo so good on him razor how you join the so far low core team showed poise I kind of like sit on stairs here by myself nobody bother my kids got school everyday so it's nice my daughter goes on a date to all of I think in the morning and she's our top three and my son stuff is put out at nine o'clock and he's got to have it done by a certain time and send it in so I can eat up that time this is my time I know you're you're always busy in your you you wear many different hats but my question is do you mess talking hockey were of any kind like whatever it is or he's not really now you know what it is do you do it so often you know for during the season and it all I don't know where you just kind of gets it gets to a point sometimes where it's like okay about enough walk away and be nice to have a you know a few days break it's it's so nice during the season when he got that we got sometimes needed to get back at it you're all revved up and go but but sometimes it's like especially when things haven't been going good it's like what do you talk about how do you get excited about something how do you know it's kind it's hard it needs you don't want to sell manufactured and you know for us doing a game it's a little different than you know say Marty and doc for they can you know start going off on anything they they want to and talk topics and all that kind of thing during a game you can't you can't really got to talk about what's happening at the time so you're kinda stuck to the game itself and yeah it kind of wears on you a bit you hate criticising players you know what I don't mind you know criticizing a player but I've always been told that if you have something negative to say about something that happened you know at some point in that same broadcast back it up with a couple positives and you know you're not in a business to to go out there and hammer guys you can hammer guys on the opposition but you're on your own teammates who's who's good at doing bite me hammering somebody on our team and you know you ultimately you're trying to sell the team you're trying to get people to you know pay attention to it and if you're negative about it all the time and it's not going to do you any good well I'm an optimistic guy so I always try to find positives and everything and I didn't find this this offseason you know I mean I like even before last season started razor and I I would love to go back to be able to find the show but you when you're doing shows you never like document this one just you should go we should circle back to this but I remember we had the conversation and we always had this this offseason as a very interesting offseason number one going into the year not knowing where the traffic is but now finding out you could end up with a very high draft pick as highs as low as seven as high as one and money to spend new players to maybe bring in young prospects to give a chance to but you know the with the NHL coming out today at one o'clock with the new draft rankings you know the NHL draft coming up whether there's a season or not the NHL draft coming up now so you know reverbs and I've had this conversation a lot and we know a lot of different people come all we ask them you don't where are you at with the entire terms of conversation of teams trading draft picks like this to strengthen their team you know what I I don't mind that because you know I think you get you put yourself in a little bit different position I think if you're you're taking that kid you know it's a little more long term I you know obviously a lot of these kids search some of these kids now aren't stepping in and drop them in in June and they're stepping into the lineup and having huge success so I think the big thing is it's it's a situation your team if you want to speed up the process of getting yourself better quicker I think it's your move that you know make it maybe even make a part of a bigger deal and I look back to Colorado two years ago when they do bridal rightly they got a pretty good all for him and then they were able to kind of kick start their whole no getting themselves wrong from there but it's not a total rebuild at that time I think you know there's always options to move that guy you know if you're in that position you're gonna take them well you know I don't even look at it is you know you need to do you need a forward I I'd be taking the best possible player that you've got at that position that is that's going to help out so if I had to move them I would not walk away from you know if you had a good opportunity to improve your team now by what you're bringing in from that draft pick up I think I'd be seriously considered well I I think it's yeah everybody's in a different situation two I think teams are at different stages I hate to use the word kind of like rebuild and and kind of all that but you know I think that the Buffalo Sabres for the last number of years have done that very nice job you know adding to their their you know their their group of players you know Jack Eichel the Sam Ryan hurts you know I Victor Olsen coming in and having a fantastic year this year the signing of Jeff Skinner you know the Rasmus doll lead now you'll be hard you I mean there are some really really nice pieces that have been put together here I just feel that the Sabres errata I had a a point in time where they need to be a little bit more aggressive knowing with the situation and that you know there that the cap situation that they're in I think it's yeah I I think it's time for them to kind of be a little bit more aggressive with a pic like this okay so did you guys see the article by the athletic from Scott Wheeler about lottery teams to drop positions most like greatest position of need now good reps did you no I don't good I think one reason why I'm asking is what do you guys what do you guys think of the sabers were drafting you say take the best player available okay well let's take that out for second must pretend you're drafting player for position of need what would you be drafting at number seven I think I'd start looking at some some kids that can play a big body kids got some nice hands but you don't complete a physical side to you're right I think there's a ton of little skill guys out there fast guys that you can fill in with you got your high high end guys such as Jack in that you know that our high end skill but I still think you need something to play you know in those middle wise it's got a little bit a grant when some point even play that great with with Jack I know it's kind of hard to maybe take that kid in the first round but sometimes there's there's guys that are are big that they had pretty good hands but they can play a hard game I'm not talkin fighting and all that I'm talking just banging in and grabbed the other Tom Wilson I get Tom Wilson is the kind of guy that I would love to see you on our team or something similar to that that I think it makes a huge difference with this group ribs one eight I mean they they're in a situation where I think the best player available and and I understand what rob saying with getting a little bit more size a little bit more physicality and jam to James I don't believe that that's going to be a kid that you're gonna be picking in the top seven picks the talks none it's going to be a highly skilled a player there's only one player right now that's in the top seven that is not a forward a defenseman I think Drysdale is his name a defenseman the rest are all forwards if you're looking for a big bodied you don't have to look any further than Quinton Byfield from the Sudbury wolves six foot four two hundred fifteen pound cat already and he's he's going to be a fantastic player he's just we're not gonna be able to pick on it but he would basically be the sooner of what rob's looking at right now our first pick seventh overall is going to be a highly skilled forward okay so you're not so the reason why I ask you that is that Scott Wheeler did this he'd put in a lot of work and I it made me think a little bit right like you said the position of need he he says playmaking winger or high end defenseman do you think that they think the Sabres need another defenseman prospect I'm not asking that question sarcastically I'm asking that question it attic curiosity I just figured that pick rate there you you need to take the best player out there so what do you what rob weathered forwarded D. it doesn't really matter because what would you get a lot because you have a guy say it is a D. and it's got a surplus right now that opens up other options for you that opens up other doors that okay maybe this guy we're we're we're projecting him to be ahead of two or three of the other guys now we can start working and middle maybe using those guys to to fill other holes it's I'm gonna tell you this will revert you know only about this Sanderson get now okay yes I do you ask well today because I ya the nasty just getting different of different opinions on on Jake Sanderson he's just saying this is Kate river I don't race are you play with his dad I mean I yeah I mean that doesn't necessarily mean anything but I mean you know the bloodlines he's a good guy it's like but I mean I don't know it's it it's it's an interesting conversation is your high end defenseman is he what the Sabres need I I wouldn't be opposed to I would be opposed to thinking about that because I I don't I'm not an expert on defense but he's a big kid.

"Washington Capitals Dmitry Kulikov open a store there that was the first time in ten games in Winnipeg opened the scoring they did not do so in the last game against Edmonton they pop hello so the Buffalo Sabres who is a guy's mention did have their chances in the first period luckily tighten things up on the other end of the ice and then work your way back into this one though attacks from right to left during the second period and W. along with robbery appeared to bell MTS place broadcast booth in the servers with Jack Eichel Victor Olsen Daines said Reinhard started with an evil who walk the boards in his pocket is prepared by uncle three groups our help straight up the middle of the ice the only I don't it is right in front of the bottle that get in line with the only right across the floor the pads of Carter Hutton savers now the office is all this is Marcin for example changing off the bench proposal the research reporter since our front reporter police report thank god the boards and down the ice Harkins the near side and it's hooked up towards center but too far for Curtis Lazar labour's exoneration answered a nice job by Jake McCabe the offices seven specifically with the final here on the right side of the debate about territory only good for Henry okay how are you the cable network side gets to Saturn with its gone here in the second period Mobil one and one of the I can't around the twenty seven zero he could be the case with it after taking a shoulder check the fax line and try to get outside the line speaking to help get it to center but the K. backing up dispossession back inside the vocals this is what people outside of the isobaric tag line that's broken up can one modeling apple to California back to the.

"Is the Sabres head coach Carter Hutton started say yes ma'am pilots can I get a chance and defense yes yeah yeah will be will be going with pilot and them Miller and for we could be sitting out tonight and going the same line up basically other than switch pilot Miller what do you want to see compiling a scam what he definitely went down with back to Rochester with with a list of things to work on you know it wasn't a big list short and we feel that having games down there and working with the coaching staff you know made it made it clear kind of like the experience we had with those are up and down a few times and coming back do you know more more focused on the army individual skill set that he needs to bring into our group here today so especially his game away from the puck defensively we find him extremely strong and being able to read the game and his his first pass and and you know initiating our offense is is something we'd like to see from him here today what would you like to care for the last game against Johnson and Johnson well first of all to compete I mean it was a it was a really good hockey game all the way through and and as we couldn't tip the games right away against Vegas and Colorado we did against Winnipeg was those are really similar games all three of them and you really need to compete there they're fighting hard here right now to to maintain their position in the race and they're really really connected team as far as they play in both directions watching their tapes they were much better team the other night and didn't come away with the win and I think that we need to respect them and play our best game here tonight it's it's an excellent atmosphere in this building and really expecting a playoff like game for sure and we need to raise our game to match that competitiveness of building it's a sort of sit back and reflect on being here in the city in this building no no it's it's really amazing I mean I I did meet with some family last night and it's just the National Hockey League keeps you in a in a in a very unique space where you're just taking care of your next house getting ready for the next phase of trying to work with the line up trying to find something good invaluable to grow and learn from the last games and especially these three of them been good one trust use this morning and as well as we're getting ready for Winnipeg but you you don't really leave the space of of the execution that you're in as a coach in the National Hockey League what do you think you need to see from the top line I mean they haven't put a point on the trip and teams obviously turned up the defensive intensity yeah yeah they had so many chances in the Colorado and Vegas games not that many maybe against Arizona but they just have to keep going did they you know they try to play hard without the park all the time they're they're really you know they show up again today in our videos on on what we need to sensibly as a group and if they they stick with it they're they're human too and they're going to get into some some walls and film coming back from his injury Victor is also you know we need to give him some adjustment time and you know we're just pleased to have him back in the lineup again today and and and you know our goal is to keep in there but we're we're confident if they stick with their with their with their work ethic and with the focus they have the the results are going to come here again for them for sure the amount of faceoffs Jack taking reflection he's feeling better yeah I mean certainly he he's he's feeling a lot better than what any you know after the maintenance day he had a few like a week ago and we we hope that continues but he's certainly on the betterment here hi there Sabres head coach Ralph Krueger speaking there with Pat of the rest of the media in Winnipeg good news there I guess you'd say about Eichel I mean there's certain times during the game where he looks like maybe he's wincing or he's kind of like leaned over and you wonder if that what they're calling either savers are saying like sort of a a middle core injury he looks like maybe he isn't in some discomfort but then I'll go and take a faceoff he hadn't taken his neck in a face off there for a little while and now he's back taking some and I think Eichel is showing again some real leadership here playing through whatever it is it is he obviously is not a hundred percent and you know even haven't haven't seen necessarily some of these dominating stretches from him that maybe we had in the past probably I'm guessing a lot of that has to do with the fact that he is dealing with an injury I mean look at even these last few games Eichel's lines has been kept off the scoresheet in Arizona Johanneson scores Skinner scores but none of them coming from Michael's line in Vegas the two goals come from VC Johannson setting up a hoon and then Skinner with like twelve seconds left in the game and then Colorado the two goals there are from the organs in our postal Larson line and then the other one came from a from a leak getting to deflect a McCabe point shot so if the our lives are rather from from McCabe went out so Michael's line has not been a part he and Ryan heart have not gotten a point on this Westrup and over three is the record it's got to be a link there's no doubt there I mean we know that Eichel's line can't score every game but it seems like they almost can't every game one of them and you know all of that obviously left the last game with injury those three Reinhardt Olson like all I mean let's face it they're the number one line the Sabres don't have much depth and they need them to produce and pressure on them to produce on this team is high because they do not have a second or third line that regularly can contribute now maybe Cahoon and Simmons it is a little bump in the production there from what you wrote and sherry we're giving those lines so hopefully you know if you're hoping that that middle six gets improved by what Jason bottled at the trade deadline will maybe Cahoon and Simmons is a start in the right direction but I think still a lot of work to go let's go to our blue and gold locker report here next delivered by speed global services around the corner or round the world speed delivers visits B. G. S. dot com we just mention Wayne Simmonds here he is with Pat it's a good to get back on the ice yesterday after a day off and and and get ready for Winnipeg yeah things always good especially after a day off to skate on the notion of the cobwebs and thank you so if you try to get ready for your next phone how is the chemistry with yourself and Jeff Skinner been over the first three games it seems like it clicked immediately I think we've been pretty good togethers along with the police were there riff played really good hockey I think you know us to where we stay connected so you know for in on the forecheck row support each other and I think we've done a good job a good job of neutralizing focuses on as well so I mean I was trying to continue to build on that from my perspective all three of you bring something different to the line is that something that can can help you you also as well yeah I think so I think you look I just know he's good with the puck and you know he's he's a big time goal scored on lasers you know very study you know he's always in the right position and you know he brings toughness no fish no out there and I think for myself you know my physicality and just got into the front of the net and being able to retrieve pucks I think we all bring something different but we all are we complement each other joining this team last week I want to ask you about you know how do you kind of pick your spots as a veteran in in sort of judge the room where you want to inject yourself and all I think you just kind of got to learn you know everyone's you know personality I think the guys very welcoming so has it been too hard to think of the new year you know a little bit over a week now and you know I feel pretty comfortable and I think that's just a testament to how how great the guys in the rumor now the last game of the road trip here how important is it to get get a victory and at home against a tough pitch protein coming out yeah you know this game is huge for us obviously you know we've dropped three in a row and you know we don't want to continue on that path so for us I think we got to play for the sixty sixty minutes I think in the other games we know probably forty fifty fifty five minutes but not the complete six yet so on for us you know I think that's where our minds are going to be in the schemes in US earlier in the year ahead with the devils you played the that's twice will lower some of things may be taken at this game today against that team all you know I think you know they got a strong offense you know they can turn parkway around and go the other way really quickly another top and geyser no truly talking guy so you got to make sure that you're keeping pucks all in all our years owner you know and there's one of the blues you don't want too much given too much room in the neutral zone and I think if you play like writing style keeping them down off you know no team wants to play defense and when you're out of the park they can score so you know I think that's kind of what I've taken from playing the team I thank your family for conflict that's when Simmons on the pregame Brian back to you thank you there Pat Mella Carl with Wayne Simmonds will have patch conversation with Victor Olsen coming up next segment also Paul Hamilton as well will join me here in studio we'll get you his latest thoughts on the state of the team and this road trip that has not gotten off to a good start we'll talk about what Winnipeg is up to in their race as well and check out the rest of the initial scores all that and more coming up here on our Paul William belts Sabres pregame show I'm rankles deal thanks for being with us more right after this on WGR I think you missed the winning dunk.

that does that's your sports update for today I'm Andrew he's Craig were the instigators and so happy to be joined by our next guest here great teammate looks great too where is the let's get him up there Patrick well leave the eighties and I'm paddy Alina friv never played with you he probably want to call your paddy allowing me but that's not your fault well it it's alright it's my honor to be on the show boys its first time but I heard you guys are doing a great job by that then I'm very excited to be part of it thank well keep it up yes this is not anything else nice you'd like to say we'll always nice they will say something nice let's see this room said wow you look great you do look great and I wanted to see on face trying to deceive you put on any weight but you look pretty good man I I did put on a few pounds you know always said that you know body builder built at body of mine that I don't change really just put on a few pounds I would say both ten pounds but I try to hide it as much as they can I'm not doing a lot of work out it I guess that's something that that's part of my can I say you know I I've never been a big fan of it right now all you know that I have the choice I'm trying to eat healthy and just doing a little work hours here and there Hey let's just be honest life is great when every workout is optional all right I totally agree when you have the choice not to injure pain and stuff like that life is good yes I can really so what are you doing now what wallet and now I do TV I do our caller for the Montreal Canadians we are basically intended others TSN with RDS and there's sports net associated with TVA sports and I'm part of TVA sports we do national games for Montreal Canadiens soul we have the rights on the Saturday nights the big games of course and so I do caller for those games on TV and the rest of the time I'm doing a studio all games as well as any shell game sold tonight I'm working out of Montreal and we're doing at Pittsburgh Tampa bay's so usually twice two to three times a week that's basically what my gig is and that still a lot of fun I see a lot of boys and it's a lot of fun I like to come over anytime you want anytime you want Hey it's too bad because we we do Montreal games the only time I going to roll it's one Montreal goes on our own on Saturdays or all star game or Stanley Cup Finals then I haven't been to buffalo yet on the Saturday night they have been coming to Montreal I've seen George I've seen Willie I sell the boys and that danger obviously but I've been looking for it to go down to buffalo hasn't happened yet I said call moreover not come over but that's fine don't worry about listen again as per usual Hey listen both answers appropriate by the way so don't don't worry but listen Patty that there's a story that we talk about it all the time and I number one I think I owe you an apology from way back about tearing your Argyle sweater off at that bar New York and wearing it to the Halloween party we talk about you member that that Argyle sweater yeah old now that you're talking about it yes I kinda do remember at the aspen recently but that's part of being teammates you know I I never had a problem with that that I just thought that so it makes it fun to make some for good stories yeah wasn't it wasn't a real apology it was just kind of like a lead in to the office it's the lead into the story but anyway whatever happened to that sweater don't you ever get it back I did I keep I wore to the Halloween party remember and I was on the pool table right doing the paddle leave saves and then I gave about yeah it was a nice and one from what was that was at a medium to an extraction a yeah it pretty much went from that to an excel I agree with that tag I probably could wear it now to be honest but I don't know where it is now let's let's talk we will let's talk hockey Ron Lee you're obviously covering the Canadians I just read on the sports update Shea Weber he's going to be hurt what's that mean for the Canadians well it's a huge blow shareware bird last night that Philip done all got hurt as well I think he's the best center in these that are most important sentiment anyway because he plays all kinds of roles in Montreal and Webber's their number one D. did did they went to a tough stretch obviously all the teams are but Monday I thought Montreal at a chance this year if the state alti to go in the playoffs and with their loss drew I add to that that big time they lost Gallagher arm yeah all those guys are big now they get that no they got Weber and looks like Webber's long time so itself when you're battling for a playoff spot and your number one these not there offensively and defensively so I think from Montreal it's going to be tough on the road did you catch the obviously you saw that soccer was trait I want to ask you about no moves no move clause but more I want to ask you about cal chan your because you'd be you'd be familiar with him in Montreal like what's what's his reputation wise you getting why is he going on to his fourth team already Z. got a tough rapper or is he just not performing yeah well I think it's kind of both I think I'll see I use you was younger when he was in Montreal you know as as a young kid and I think you want enjoy life a little bit but I I think it was more what he was bringing in or not bringing on the ice that that got a moved around eat he's got he's got a good shot I just think hockey sense you know it it's it's not there all the time I think the ease ease one dimensional player so if you're not scoring wall the what what else can you bring to the team and I don't think he's get any other tools that he that he can help the team and that's what happened in Pittsburgh to like you you have you had the chance of your lifetime playing with mall ten or Crosby and didn't worked out I think that's us I wouldn't be surprised if she's not coming back in the NHL next year that's all bad I think the last two years I've been for gold chain Yakin his reputation I think is going down a little bit so we'll we'll look forward to see what happened there but I I think that's what's looking for a girl Chania our wallets that's interesting stuff yeah I wanted to ask for them to move close but if you want to well you know it's a it's just the pricing you know you're there this this this player was drafted so high and he has all the talent and it's just he hasn't figured it out I'm wondering if it's like maturity if it's issues away from away from the game that is hindering his performance and the ability to kind of like allow that skill to come out you saying that you know is a one to bet the one dimensional player but I think even one dimensional players as you get older and as you mature you start to figure out that you need to do more in this league to be successful I'm just wondering like you know he's on his third team now we're going on to his fourth is there an opportunity or possibility that this kid could figure it out as he starts did maturing get older well it yeah I think it's going to happen very soon he asked to I taught at the one in when you're in Montreal you score thirty goals and I thought I okay I said okay easy natural goal scorer on a par please they give him a shot you know on a one timer he's going to do it you can skate with the pot I just think is a is vision is not that great like any stop skating yet you know I mean like you see it on display thank you just because I know he's trying to protect the park here is get two guys but that's how you do it when he gets a park you just stop skating and he is looking for option is looking for to make a play you reminds me a little bit of a Stefan reshape yeah no no a back in the day in Montreal to reset a great shot then use a pure goal scorer but sometimes he would get the pop you would come in and just keep sliding a little bit and I don't know why I hold for in the figure is the dell because at some point there's a lot of talent there that that you saw a couple of seasons in Montreal one especially when he and like I said when you met when he got thirty goals but the fit he's a tough player to play again with I think that's that's all you can put it you know like guys that that play with them you know they they have a hard time reading what he's going to do and stuff like that so I I think it's it's I'm sure there's a good fit somewhere it just you'll have to figure it out then in the upcoming months for sure that voice right there is Patty Aleem he'll be back Thursday night for two thousands night and one of the players that will be going on the ice you can wave to him you can cheer forum you can of obviously looking forward to seeing a lot of who we are looking forward to seeing you how many these guys you seem less Patty yeah I saw the list yes lot of guys obviously Palmer is one of the guys that I haven't seen in awhile although he comes back to go back in the summer he's pretty busy ripping out mentally here right yeah is wrapping up men's league here yeah yeah that you called me last night the said that he was playing and I was surprised he didn't play this year to.

"Reinhart earlier in the show Sabres should sign Victor all us into a long term contract some would say before we get into this what's a long term contract let's agree on this before if four years is a long term contract long term contract to me is is six seven or eight that's that would be a high standard a long term contract what about five to save it is I would consider you know yeah I could throw five and there are five six seven eight as a long term contract I don't in today's game a four year deal I don't believe is a long term contract I believe it's kind of like more on the lines of a really long bridge the Golden Gate Bridge deal like a really long bridge Golden Gate Bridge deal well dyeing your like your what what that's what a couple days off does right sharp you are warning while I was just you know just trying to be funny well listen I mean what do you what do you want to do he's gonna be twenty five starting next year twenty five years old you would think that you probably have a window of opportunity of five to seven years where you're going to get the best out of it rolls that's what that's the way I look at it are you okay and are you willing to sign a player like Victor Olson to a long term deal would you sign in to a six year deal would you sign him to a sept seven year deal me I would be very interested in trying to get Victor Olson onto a long term contract that's just me I I like the idea of like a six year contract that would take him tell these are thirty one years old and I think you're getting the best years out of Victor from twenty five to thirty one how much like realistically that see that's the trickiest part right and do you not think that maybe and I look I got a again it's not like you're going into a negotiation you're just traveling down one road when it comes to talking about contracts is only you pick up the phone your like six year deal yeah you know a one year bridge deal like if if the agent isn't overly thrilled with the dollar amount you could say give me one your deal armor and he'll get you another thirty goals this year for the next year we're talking a whole different contract you know kind of like Sam but not like samba kinda like Sam yeah so the the buy sell trade is saber should sign Victor awesome to a long term all give you all of you an example I I'm gonna give you an example this player that I'm gonna talk about has played a few years in the league he is twenty five years old right now he just turned twenty five he's a left handed shot he's very skilled he's from Sweden last year in his year he signed a long term deal I think it was a six year deal if I'm not mistaken Elias Lindholm okay okay he ended up signing a six year deal for twenty nine point one million dollars okay as he had any seven gold yet twenty seven goals this this was before it sought allies Lynn home right now is in the second year of his deal so when he got traded from Carolina to Calgary he was coming off a sixteen goal forty four point season he signed a contract that was going to pay him four point eight five million dollars a year okay it's a six year deal twenty nine million for lice Lynn home he he went the very next year and had twenty seven goals and seventy seven points what I'm trying to say is this Victor Olson I don't believe is gonna go and garnered the same type of dollar amount of alliance Lynn home but if you can get him signed to a long term deal you've got a couple years of restricted free agency before you hit on restricted free agency with out with Victor Olson and if you feel right now that he's worth signing to our four point two five million dollar deal for six years then go and do it while you member what Chicago did with guy by the name of our Tammy Penderyn kind of a similar situation I mean or winger playing with the top players on the team comes over the age of twenty four wins rookie of the year which all sin could still do but he also has playing with Kane or tapes you're playing with both of them yeah if I'm not mistaken he played with both of them that year and what point total steady put up thirty goals seventy seven points what's all this and got your thirty five points in forty so so let's say Olson finished and he got a six million dollar deal for two years he took a two year deal for six million then he was traded if you recall yeah but listen he's not gonna get that much money he he signed a two year deal yes and then Chicago had to move them because they knew they would be able to sign up right because you would have done a lot of money a million price I don't see I don't this is I don't see obviously are Victor Olson anywhere near that that type of money that's just that's just me I think that he's more in along the lines of analyze Lynn home and that type of player there is not enough there is not enough to go on to sign him to a a massive deal but you might want to sign him to a long term deal hoping that he works his way into the contract and I don't think that you know being in a I certainly five six dot the million dollar range for Victor Olson is is appropriate but if you can get him for you know in the force low low force or even three and a half million on a longer term deal it might so you're very you believe all since a keeper I mean and I don't know like you're watching what I mean is like you're you're willing to to because if you're willing to gamble on a little but I would not want to sign him to a two year deal allowing plan about his two year deal and then he's unrestricted I would not want to do that I would want to try and take a little bit of a gamble okay on what we've seen from Victor Olson in this short period time basically a one year you know slash the year that he played the miners and say can Victor Olson throat his his time in the NHL moving from twenty five six twenty seven twenty eight twenty nine thirty can Victor Olsen play at a certain level can he be a sixty to seventy point player for the next five five plus year it and the answer is if he's playing with Jack Eichel in Sam Reinhart there is no question in my mind that he will play at a sixty two a seventy point season do I think you can score thirty goals yes I do he's already shown that he's on pace to score thirty armed and I think that he's going to be even more confident as he gets older I think to try and sign him to a long term contract and it doesn't have to be an eight your contractor a seven year contract go sign him to a five year contract a six year contract but make sure the that you know you're you're you're paying a young player like Victor Olson and trying to get him to a a team friendly contract by showing him the money now can I get an official buy sell or trade and you say Richard sinal listen to a long term contract I can buy this yes nearby can I get in a year and a term or or or surprise in a term I would I would be looking at you know if you can sign him for for four year for for six years twenty four million for junk years yeah that's exactly what I was gonna say okay sign I mean that would to race for me I think that that would be a home run for the Buffalo Sabres if you could sign him to a six year contract to take him through the best years of his career which is going to be twenty five years old the thirty one okay those are the those are the prime years of a forwards career and I think the Victor all send has not begun to show us what he's capable of he's only played one year in the National Hockey League and through the first half of his time forty two games he's got thirty five points sixteen goals he showing us that he has the ability the talent to be a very dangerous player and I only think he's going to get better so if you can lock him in early and show him maybe a bit of that Chang right now it might benefit you in two three years from now when this guy possibly could be a forty goal or thirty five goal scorer on a consistent basis he's got a wicked shot so resist buying this I'm I'm gonna buy this to buy it I agree with I agree with everything you're saying I guess I get all the I guess your short and get what you have to have on your team a team friendly contract and we don't have any right now we have guys that are going to that are going to sign for for for good money Sam right here it's going to be a tough one to get signed I'm gonna tell you that right now because he's produced for five years every single year in his NHL career as you say as he has produced and gotten better in every single year we have talked for years and I just it's kind of connects to write her do you think that Jack and Sam or do you think that Victor and Santa Jack could be the same as Jack and Sam if Sam weren't there some that's you know I mean that's that's a very similar type why don't we he's a good pass around good Sam I am sees the game different stamps he is the game at a very very high level and I don't think that I you know I I don't think that most give Sam as much credit as as what he deserves listen Sam's no wizard you know flying around the ice with this speed he he actually labors a little bit more he's not the smoothest skater but he gets things done where he is a very advanced is is the way that it is how he thinks the game he thinks the game and the lead level not at a high level I don't know lead level he moves the Pocky understands where to be the game in his brain the computer in his brain is computing at a very very high level and that's why Sam Reinhart seems to seems to get things done he's got a nice shot he's worked on his body he's worked on all the things that it that he's been asked to do any still getting better and he's only twenty four years old the best years for Sam Reinhart are going to be coming in the next number of years next six seven eight years and he's he's gonna be in his mid to late twenties that's that's usually where you're you're hitting your stride all right we're gonna go to break when we come back read Ferguson from the bills long snapper new Meryl Swiss owner if he played Montreal what's that mean okay he'll join us here on the instigators and lots to talk about we're gonna run into the players the players.

"Right now calling mail is there I love this pair okay been rest always right really strong solid pair and I'll tell you this scan Delano me. is is is a really solid defenseman. if he's playing in the right spot on this team and now he is he's not getting number one pair minutes he's not going to be on the ice against the top lines on the other team he will be slotted in minutes where he will have success and he's going to play with a very young yogi hard you who had a really nice preseason also so this is a really really nice looking defense the only the only real unknown I don't wanna say question mark because I think he's he's proven his worth in terms of ability and skating ability and and all that in terms of value okay harder is yoga Haruhi okay how are you I heard it pronounced both ways Google your guards you okay is it he's the only real unknown and so I guess my point is is that if you had to Goshen Amman to our this line up couple years ago. now you're thin and I get and I'm speaking to the well they claim her mind up about years ago and the and they were in the line up was the **** this is true very very good point thank you okay and they were thin super that super thin and now you have them out of the lineup and you have more depth Darlene obviously helps not trading restore this summer definitely helps McCabe healthy helps you know I a Scandella but playing in the position that you thinks is best suited for him in a in a very highly ranked highly touted first round pick I guess my point is is what I'm saying is that I'm optimistic about the defense on this team even with the injuries and that speaks to the debt that we kind of circle around all summer yes so do you expect these parents to be this way for awhile are we going to see some some chemistry bill between them does that matter in today's date day and age I mean you came from an era where you had a P. partner and you I was your deep partner. it is that different now now there there's no difference than when I played back in the day you of your top pairing defenseman you have your second pair defenseman in your third pair defenseman and you know we're in the same position here obviously having guys the random onto were out of the line up is a hit he's a really really good defenseman he's he's going to really start to break out and come into his own right now a little bit of a set back with with his injury make sure that they take the time to have this heal properly so when he comes back there's no set backs there's no excuses like I I came back to quickly no we have the depth here in in buffalo right now and that's we haven't we haven't been able to say that for a while yep in in in buffalo we do have gaps in Boston buffalo we J. J. Sembach troll has done and his scouting staff has done a great job bringing in bodies. and bringing in that depth and you know once Montour comes back. someone's got to come out and that's where things start to kind of you start to figure O. okay well where where's this going to go you know is restored going to be here the whole year or you know is is Hristo gonna be out playing the first month here but maybe could be moved who knows and no one knows the focus is not who's moving the focus is we've got our guys in this line up wrist does here he's a he's a huge asset for our hockey team this is a really nice defense corps let's just move forward and let's see what what this team can do all right we're talking Sabor Sabor start tomorrow night six to seven at seven one six pre game with the old man river myself a poor you couple with a calm Bruce use these days it's been a while a couple beers for everybody on everybody out there that are buying them so come on and we'll we'll have some stuff to give away Sabres tickets some jerseys some instigator swag so make sure you're down there around six o'clock five thirty six o'clock and say hi when you get there saber we talked about that bush across the sea Buccigross has a Sabres predicted to make the playoffs I did I did that's you know listen I mean now. this team. here in buffalo leaves lightning Panthers capitals penguins penguins dropping a lot I don't know if this is this is an order in the conference I guess Sabres and Oilers sorry go ahead. I I I I like what I see here the teams that are on there the brooms the Leafs the lightning the Panthers the capitals even the penguins I can put in there just because they are driven by two guys that are game breakers and and Malcolm in Crosby and obviously the islanders they played exceptionally well last year and have taken strides forward can make them a team that you know is a is a playoff team buffalo. is a better hockey team than what they were last year not only with the players some of the players that were brought in and you know your hands in Jimmy VC you know. Miller these are players that have given us more depth we we had some holes last year in buffalo on the second line and I think by bringing in VC and by bringing in a player like all of San who who's at that point of helping this team move forward. we are a team that no one knows what you're gonna get well you need some got what it well I guess the the the set up for this was in order for the Sabres to make the playoffs or even be close they're gonna need some guys to have some big years how can an and we had the discussion in the back about what's considered a big year of jackets ninety nine points are a hundred points is that considered a break out year of dolling get sixty points is that considered a break out year if Reinhardt gets seventy five points is that a break out year I don't know the answer that for Jack I would say yes I think a hundred points is is break out now you're in you're now you're in your super stardom all right Darlene depending on what he does I mean he could have a another very very good year with some good offenses statistics but no where he did a very good year he had a phenomenal year last over here he's going right what his ceiling projects like okay I watched a hundred point you're thinking that's his ceiling he's a hundred point guy in this league now with where with scoring going up and more hundred point players and guys will you know superstars driving team's offense of Lee and other players around him now he could be a hundred knocks on the door of a hundred points is that considered a breakout year I mean Victor all of sin Jimmy VC these are all guys we touched on in the back before the show and we were discussing I mean are they are they break are they ready for breakout seasons I mean I can make an argument for every single one of them even though they've been a leave for a few years but that's for them did you know did you want to talk about breakout guy yeah like who you could see as break code guys well it is and you kinda hit on the head brawl them for me Victor all send is is a big key for our team and the reason why I say that is if Victor Olsen plays the way we all hope. not expect but hope. and he goes out and scores thirty goals and has. fifty five points are sixty points on Jack's line that is the biggest home run that we get asked for because that immediately makes our team stronger because we're taking a player that wasn't here last year that we didn't get the production from last year if we could have a Victor Olson who I believe has the ability to learn his too and you don't have to pay a lot of money and he's playing on a top line that is a big plus that is a breakout season for a Victor Olson so ma'am Reinhardt had a great season last year at what twenty two goals and and and sixty sixty five points what can Sam Reinhart have eighty points can he be a point a game player in the National Hockey League. that that is a big season Kenny score thirty goals on Jack's line being on Jack's line all year. can he score thirty and at eighty points. that's a break out year can Jack go from being an eighty two point player. worry in seventy seven seventy seven games so we was over a point a game but can Jack propel himself instead of being a twenty five gold guy can he be a thirty five forty gore guy and add a hundred points. that's a break out season and you can continue to go through Jamie VCR they has had seven tango agree with you and I would say that they are breakout seasons I wouldn't disagree with that at all my question is or is that what's expected in a do we have to expect more from the other guys because we know we need Sam to do that we know we need Jack to do that we know we need Skinner maybe not to score forty but to get in the thirties you know yeah you need can Skinner score you you know low thirties maybe a thirty five I will take that all day long if he's not playing with Jack now you have to understand he played the whole season with Jack and scored forty. don't expect Jeff Skinner if he's not playing with Jack to score forty but if he can give us thirty two goals. playing with on the second line that's still significantly helps this hockey team moving forward Jimmy VC is another key component he's a big man he skates well he knows how he scores his goals he's not an outside perimeter player he's going heavy and big to the front of the net what can Casey middle stat. gel with Jimmy VC on that third line can those guys make each other better and gain some chemistry between them. these are all things that we're gonna we're gonna basically watch as the season goes on our last week we ask J. R. to prepare for something that he's going to do first you member what it is I also sent to a tax to the group chat last night that said being forgetful may mean your brain is actually working properly JJ brought this back up to me this morning but I'm just testing your brain to see if you can remember what J. R. and if changes tell you privately in your right now that's not fair well you remember what it is you have to know JJ JJ's not here to help me out that's not going to tell me and I don't remember the conversation that we had better it's it's better it's better to keep you on your toes our baby the week. member big baby the way he came on here's all the baby was talking with okay yeah all right reserved the beef with the agency is called a baby and we said Hey next week we want to do a segment starting next week baby of the week yup so let's see who is baby the week is coming up next I and also again I can't remind you not tell your friends if you're sitting in the office right now. and your listing the show on a headset I'm talking to you tell the people next.

"I would have been surprised if you know he'd been happy to take a one year deal maybe at the league minimum I I I don't know that but that makes sense to me so zero rise and Fortin re upping in San Jose a little bit of surprise that they have no room for Patrick Marleau. two two million by the sounds of it for Thorton good money. it is pretty good it's a real good player. well he's been productive there's no question about what you listen as you look at the points he still put up last year I think he was what he six points last year I mean he's still playing at a pretty high level he doesn't have to be a top six forward anymore he slotted more along the lines of in your in your top nine yeah you know we still adds that that leadership that any team would love to have and he still has the passion for the game so we still an asset for the sharks there's no doubt and he's making twice as much as Kevin the bank. I I will say this I'm I'm still puzzled by that but your routing fifty one points at fifty one points for for Joe last year in seventy three games and more in the playoffs it's remarkable and if you know the old hilltop boat over sixteen hundred career NHL games now if he's able to put together at least even half a season with San Jose brick you mentioned briefly drags and TSN's Darren Dreger is with us here on the instigators you know a little bit of a reference to the the glut of R. F. A.'s. has anything has anything piqued your interest with this topic like I know we get especially now cause geyser back in training if not an official training camps yeah so you're getting more media more quotes from if not the direct player involved in the contract stalemate but from their teammates has anything to your interest during all of this to to give you a sense of who's going to go first and why that person's going to go first and how quickly the dominoes will fall after the first one goes. a yes I'm surprised by is you know where and when the season ended for the Boston Bruins I mean it was an emotional time your Charlie McEvoy couldn't have been more supportive of wanting to stay and watch him for the remainder of his career he made it seem like it was a slam dunk and I really thought that he would be among the first if not the first to re up with the Boston Bruins and it obviously it hasn't happened and you know the business side of the sport does take over at some point and I did I'm not questioning the resolve of turning back avoid nor is is up passion in wanting to remain with the bronze long term but the business side does take precedence and so one of the big boys is gonna go and obviously it wasn't Keller but maybe it's minor although I doubt that maybe it's good shock I don't think that's going to happen my sense is that you know match you could jock in Calgary and Mitch Meyer with the Toronto Maple Leafs you know could hook up with the London knights as early as next week and continue their offseason training around that OHL team and you know was reported awhile back that Meyer is considering going over to Switzerland and I think that could happen as early as the third week of September where he goes over there and continue skating but you know again there there's no mobile happening in Winnipeg as we have this conversation likewise and make around in in in Colorado and breaking point in Tampa Bay a lot can change in a phone call or a couple of hours when teams goal okay let's get after this and when the reality from the player perspective kicks in that I'm twenty one twenty two years old and I'm about to miss valuable regular season playing time and I I I I think that's where you'll lose deadline start to occur is when games start check away. why is it that you you you you read you know on the sites that the GM saying that's everything's going really well I think so and so is going to be signed very soon you know we talked about Brock bass or what two weeks ago and he was like. ready to sign it sounded like that day and now all of a sudden two weeks later we haven't heard anything I'm like whoa you know Kyle Connor was the same thing they were starting dialogue I mean things were going things were going well but we're still nobody has signed a like a I I'm just confused by all this well it is almost as if the players are hedging a little bit. to some degree ownership as well road right I mean you know if if if if you more or less agreed on what you think the range of the salary is going to be about the term is is the real issue and I believe that that basically the case up for minor in in trial there's been much speculation on a on a three year deal body gets complicated on a three year deal because one of your three look like you know of your three is a bigger number or why would believes do that because that'll martyr us to do is accept is qualifying offer for the fourth year he walks and celebrate an unrestricted free agency what Toronto stock when you do that but again if you go back to that Matthews deal I think that that again what what kind of dumb things up so you know for the for the players it sounded like they were inching closer like Bassar or Kyle Connor McEvoy or any of those guys maybe they're just having a little bit you know they still have time on their side I mean nobody really wants to miss training camp well hold on some do some don't mind missing Tracy camp it I don't want to miss the the regular season so there is still time left in the calendar and as I said earlier I I I don't get the sense that one guy to guy three guys are ahead of the pack in terms of the deal being imminent but I wouldn't be surprised if that changes a week from now so there is still a little bit of time left so some things can change. Drake's great stuff as always thank you so much. "You got to walk away from. This Craig Button. He was on the morning show today. What happens with the sabers your else? I'm thinking about with them and this is the bills to in a different kind of a different way. But it's what I set out to write and ended up just focusing on the sabers and, and trades or whatever. That's in our website to, like, both the shavers and the bills are at a place. We just had the blues win the Stanley Cup and that was tough. I mean, the, the blues aren't the Bruins. But dabble Riley win was tougher people. And it really makes you think about how far the sabers seemed to be away or like the fact that they had him the fact that for one thing we've never won it. We've never had a parade, you know, they're having their parade bread holes hammered like they're having that they had that day, then you have the raptors and its basketball, but the raptors has had a parade yesterday and like that's parade week. Right. And just like you know, we're just never there. So how do you get there? And both the bills and the sabres are at a point. Where next year? Arguably would be good. But they would still be really far away, like there is that, that's where the at least the sabers medium complicating it on necessarily with the bills by, like the Bill, the bills go eight. you know i think a lot of people would be not impressed per se but kind of like okay you know still kind of positive about them and that's eight that's right half like that's the middle and that's kind of what they have built recently and for twenty years is like eight eight is not bed and the sabres could do what and have that like whatever five hundred really is at hockey eighty-two points right you don't like if they have eighty five points or something that's not the play offs it's not a real good year at all is that a good year but it's better and then you know you've got bottle has had two years mcdermott is two years and then if those teams do those things they might just keep going right but i'm no i'm not having a parade no i'm i'm a ways off postseason games if that happens in like what It should happen. What would people who don't like them say about the two teams you know, seven wins eighty points. Right. Yeah. I think objectively both teams as bills, maybe closer, then the sabers to respectability at this point. but you know it's tough the sabers well they they don't exactly have new england in the division they've got three new england's in their division maybe tampa toronto in boston look that's pretty tough to deal with but it still is there's it feels like it's easier to get it more teams get in and get in the larger percentage of the pool gets in so that makes it hard for me to say that the bills are ahead in this race necessarily neither only in your they've they've gone through one year of the quarterback we're on your five this is going to be would eichel yeah Man. It flies. So I mean you got to get you. You're supposed to get busy living here. While he's, you know, in his his best years and he finally really delivered on that with a full season. That was like point a game last year. And that's that's, that's your guy that you got. So you're into your five of that. Now. You better win soon. And that means if, if, if there has to be an incremental step in there better, be a damn righteous incremental step coming up this year. And that's why this next couple of weeks is massive for battery because he's got to do something, because the team is just not going to improve on its own Victor, Olsen, and Rasmussen, Asplund are not walking through the door and carrying you to ninety five points. Probably. So, right. I mean, you've got to be you don't have to be it's think probably best to be, you know, to have perspective about where they're coming from. But I'm not you know, depends on the person like am I gonna want to celebrate a season like that? I'm not gonna enjoy season like that. If they're just not terrible is that good. You know, like if the bills, the bills are a little bit ahead, the bills are respectable, I think more respectable right now but they're not good either. So like, do you what do you, what do you say about seasons like that, where they just okay? Well, I'm not terrible, and I've been terrible. So this is not as bad by life is looking up. You know, can I actually be good here? I mean. Part of that with the sabres part of that is that the draft pick that they have on Friday night this the, the number seven pick. I guess, thirty one if you want it that was a second round pick three years ago. But, you know, so the seventh overall pick and I was talking at work today. And a guy goes trade, it, get rid of it, and I don't want him to do that. They really don't even have if they did. It'd be interesting. I'm not gonna be mad necessarily, but they really don't even have a good farm system relatively. No. They don't. So, like they have plenty of room for more young, you know. Yep. So it's so long since they've won. And. You want to be at this place. I, I want to be at this place where we should be expecting them to be good. But she's at Saint a lot and the bills to, like, that's also saying a lot, it's maybe more conceivable for them. Plus, the well they're the sports are different in different ways. You can have a hockey. I have to say it now because I brought it up. You can have a hockey season where you know, lock carries you, you, can you can have that other teams have had that we know that. And there's no law against that happening to the sabre. I was happening. Appeared that happened for a little while. It was cool. Those good times. Yeah. And football has its own form of that, you know, it's so many fewer games that, you know with the schedule you play or injuries or whatever. Like you can. You can also do that. Yeah. Joe you wrote about Taylor hall if he twenty-seven yesterday, and I forget, he's got twenty seven. I think he'll be twenty turns twenty eight maybe in November or something like that. If I remember what I looked at yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. Because when he hits free agency he'll be twenty eight okay is like you mentioned. Somebody said just trade that pick. I don't know. You doesn't feel like because Taylor all got traded for animal arson. You should have to trade, the seventh pick in the draft for Taylor hall, but and I respect building and everything, and the farm system is not strong. So I, I like the idea of coal Caulfield or Turcott or you'll never the either. They get it that pick. Pick turned into Taylor hall, and I signed him for seven years right away. You have to do that, right? I mean you have to know that you can do that. I think before you send that pick that I don't know. I think there's an argument to do that. He's got good years ahead of them here at Skinner. It's a year older than Skinner basically is what he is. And he's the MVP last year. I that, that that's better than hoping coal Caulfield turns out to be Alex debrincat. I mean he might he might be better than that. But I Don plop in Taylor hall on my team. I don't know. Like should I be excited for that? I like Taylor hall a lot. I love that the, the devils got them for free. That's hilarious. That's one of my favorite examples of how just way off hockey can be and why you should be able to capitalize on that. And that's just like, maybe the maybe that's the example in the dictionary definition for that. But like does he sign with the sabres like Skinner? They did. They were successful. They got him cheap not. They did not have to spend a top ten draft pick with the top ten draft pick you should be able to get a career out of the guy and the sabres got Skinner almost for free themselves, and then partly that into a contract, they haven't won yet. But, you know, the devils have only one he's been there for three years, and two of them, they were terrible the middle one, they were good. So it's convenient for me to use that one but out of three years, two of them, they were bad. They were bad seasons. I mean okay. But I just don't think that see who who is in charge, and what is his it shouldn't matter. But it can what is his like place in his career. Like what is what is on the line for bottle this year? This we don't know he probably knows he this. We don't he should know he would want to know what do I need to do? What is what is on the line for me this year? Like he might have a does he have a new contract, so he might still get he'll, he'll get paid. But he's not going to focus on that. He's going to want to stay in the job. And so do I need the playoffs if I need the playoffs that untraded in this pick? And that's maybe not in the sabers best interests can apply to any team, but it would be in his because he's got this his priority is this season. I don't know if that's true. Yeah. I yeah, I don't know how that works. I kind. Doubt that, you know month the month or like I don't know quarterly. He gets some affirmation like okay. We like you still my sense, is that people in those jobs feel like they know they know the clock is always running on them, but they don't know it's there, they fallen out of favor until they Fall River, just sort of happened. Well, that's enough. That does this isn't working, right? But you do have conversations hopefully with your boss, and you, you, you should have continue writing idea of what you know what, what, are you thinking? And this is what I'm thinking that does does Terry patrol over Kim Gula at some point, while they're talking about whatever they would be Jason Badrul say, you know, pretty directly. So when are we going to be good, and you, you, you maybe you can take that as okay? I better do something. I mean you you could although you know sitting here right now I mean, I don't think trading..

"Repeaters had Greg rebate. Now, the instigators. We have some sad news. Greg Rivera has been recruited by Scotty Bowman to golf coach somewhere. We don't know. We don't know where we don't know why we don't know why. But hey is that right? We're gonna start the show like that. Wow. I don't know. We looked kinda right with all with Jack last night, though. Didn't we you guys are fantastic. Guys are always right. You guys are always right. Do we just want to jump right into this right now? Let's let's let's fire it up. No, okay. Go mardi brought muffins in. Doughnuts. It's a Donut bracket doughnuts and muffins and coffee. What what was okay. I wanna say thank you. I wish my phone. I don't even know where my phone is all the information anyway. So we had a special visit this morning from the senior wish program. So it was great to have them come in and talk about what we do. And you know, just. Jill parole in robbery and sabers and all of that. So spend about an hour with dumb and had some doughnuts and muffins and coffee and just staying out and Andrew you came in. And man, you were like a model you took about one hundred pictures and you smiled at every one of them lady what she was doing with those jobs. Like, I want to get a couple of you alone. This is really my contract. I don't really do this type of thing. But go ahead. Go ahead. But anyway. Does. Oh, did you never wanted. You never wanna let the Chester overtake a picture. You know what I'm talking about? Nineteen eighty two was prime chest. Yeah. I I definitely love the eighties. But I don't necessarily want to you know, have the chest hairs sticking. So anyway, that's that's get right into it starts with tweet instigators, by the way, Andrew Peters. Craig Raviv Friday means Marty's here. Darren draggers coming on any information to talk about a Team Canada coaching at the world championships. So we'll talk to him about that. And but I'll start with a tweet here today. We don't normally do that. But crazy Larry he says man PD after watching only last night. That's obviously Victor Olafsson with the signing of Skinner and picking up a really good second line center. Damn I'm feeling good. Only looks like the real deal. Just tweeted that he says crazy Larry, but he doesn't that's my burner account. I'm not kill. I just so I don't get caught. I had. I am crazy. Larry, and I agree with whatever that guy just said, I'm going to tell you. I can't believe you actually know what a burner account is all Ottawa has all year round. Mike, what's a bird or account? There's been a few instances where burner accounts have been a bad thing in pro sports. But this one is a good one ribs. Yes, you did a great job pumping Victor Allston stiers because he was good. Said to me he goes you should start with a tweet today. Find a good tweet. That's the only one. I had. Yeah. Absolutely. Well, listen, I mean. Flat out. I mean, do you guys feel the same way? I do. I was I was absolutely. Off the chart impressed with this young player. Did you see the first bar? So the sabers of a partly in the first period dallying looking for all of sudden on the on the right flank? Or if you're if you're a goalie on your left side because all of a sudden got that one timer has got a great shot. He couldn't get it off because they were closed on them. So they went to the other side to Jack Jack fired it across Jack is like no I want. I wanted to kid to shoot the puck. I want to see him. He was looking what he's got. Was looking for them to me like in your first NHL game on your first powerplay? Have Rasmussen saline a first overall pick Jack Eichel at second. Overall, pick looking for a number forty one on the other side for his shot that is eight through Mark of respect and wanting to see what he's got. It was fantastic. He he had a couple of really nice shot on goal. So we're looking at here in L throw this to you guys in one of the things I love is is he kind of he goes a little bit to the inside notices the puck isn't going to go there. And he stops. He goes his instinct to find the lane to find a position for someone to get him the park is it's incredible. He's okay. He's a very that's the thing that come from. Because I'm gonna tell you right now. When when I. Made Martin he's going to be ribs face. Just tell you right now. I'm going to tell you right now. Listen. When I heard about Victor Olsen, and we had signed him last year, and he had he led the Swedish elite league in goals scoring and we heard Rasmus Darlene speak of Victor Olsen. And he said this guy has one of the greatest shots I've ever seen in my entire life. You get the puck to him. The puck is going to be in the net. While he's brought that over over here to North America and played pro hockey over here for the first time he scored twenty seven goals this year in the minors. And what I what I remember hearing about this young players that he has very good offensive instincts. He's has an absolute cannon shot his skating was okay. But he and his defensive play was okay. Well, I'm gonna tell you right now is a kiss skating. Yeah. I mean, that's what I that's what I was told that the start of the year while I'm gonna tell you right now, whoever told me that should be fired. Because this kid absolutely beautiful name names should be fine. What I would have no problem telling you if I actually remember. But I do not remember, and maybe maybe maybe that. Dead skating was just okay. Remember told me that that was that was back months before he first thing. I noticed last night was actually I was at the game. So you can appreciate seeing a guy skating live vs on TV now because you watch all the games live pretty much all the home games. Anyway, his skating to me he closed in on a on a player to go and four check. And I was just like, whoa. Well, we. Jump in his step. We just saw the clip on the replay. But for people like what I wanna see with quickness. When a player is number one when he has the puck. How quick can you take the first two three strides make some room for for a play and to be able to handle the puck? He does that extremely well. But also, how do you get on the four check because we've talked about that how how quick can you get on the four check. And so in the first period, my location is behind the visitors net. So I see the the sabers Ford's come in at me. And I saw forty one come at me a weekly and often. And so that tells me he's not buying the play a lot of time. You see somebody come in with a lot of speed but late or a lot of speed. But he's not there when he should be there. Always a good skater, but the games too fast for him right now. The game wasn't too facile often. He was a head of the game. He was quick. On the puck. He was right there to make plays. I was very impressed with that. I'll tell you right now if you've never seen the game before you don't know anything about it. And I were to tell a person who's never watched the game in their entire life that this guy makes eight million dollars a year. You would sit there and say I can see it because he made play after play and they weren't even the plays. Like on Jack Eichel goal where he skated down. He was getting closed off by a defenseman. Actually, did a spinner a three sixty spin Aram put it right on Jack Eichel's tape. It was absolutely marvellous. We're watching another play that where dallying I call all of a sudden on the three on one. You know, what Olson ends up hitting what the cross on that. I'm going to tell you right now. There's nerves that's in this young man's body. Right now, you get a little bit more calm and cool. This kid has has unbelievable -bility Jack Eichel who believes Americans. I think it's just the way that he is. I think it's Victor sunny as a good shot and he's gonna try to. Maybe too much at times. But it's just why is so successful to make a perfect shot. Do you remember early in the game? Into openings who he is a pure. You can tell just by the way he moves in the offense of zone. He is never stationary in one on one spot. He's always moving three four feet to the left or the right to open himself to receive the puck. So he can get it off. And I'll tell you his skating ability is what caught me, it's absolutely incredible. The other thing that caught me is his ability to make small area plays. I loved one of the plays. And this was off when he hit the crossbar. He ended up receiving the puck in the neutral zone. He knew that the that the defenseman on him that was in front of them had unbelievable gap on them. So instead of just shipping the puck and giving it away he takes it. And he pulls himself to the side. He slows himself down a bit. Because he's got the vision to see that. There's another player on the sabers coming up which was Jack Eichel. Remember that? He takes that one one thousand two hundred thousand three hundred thousand allows him time for Jack. To get up the ice slides it over. And then was he do does he watch his past no bus with his speed back into a position. He's the one who got the pass. And he and he hit the crossbar, and I'm gonna tell you those will go in what I saw from him. Nine. Night ribs, nine shot attempts five on net four missed the net. One thing is if you're a step bind and not to pylon teach Thompson because he's going to be going down. He's going down to Rochester. And you're going to get some valuable times over there. But what are we talked about teach Thompson, he gets a shot blocked all the time to get it off. Right. So you look at all of a sudden last night he had nine shot attempts. None were block why? Because he let's go quick. He's quick on the play is open thirty seconds into the game. He ended up with a good shot from the slot. Jimmy our made to save Sam Reinar got a rebound. That was it was one of the best save our made all night. But that is to me thirty seconds into the game. Victor Olofsson creating some offense really impressed with the we played and. I'm going to tell you this. You know, you you can do one of two things you can sit there and dwell on that they just lost to Ottawa in New Jersey. Detroit, which are three of the worst teams in the league. Montreal before that in Montreal before that, but I'll tell you this. You can look at it is the glass half, full or glass half empty, whatever you wanna do. And I'm looking at right now. And I'm looking at the pieces that I see moving forward with this hockey team that's gonna make this team and get out of this this bottom area where we're at. And I and I was so impressed with with all of sin, and I've been impressed with Alex Neil Lander in what he's done coming up. He's added. He's more confident. He's got more speed as you wary needs to be. Nope. But he's learning. He's only twenty years old. I said to PD when I came in this morning. And I said when I was watching the game. I was thinking about one thing when I was watching Olsen play. And I said the Pittsburgh.

"You're playing so many games. You don't get the practice like that anymore. So that's why the tempo. Seems higher because every year. We don't really see. I don't think I really saw. Phil Housley yelling for more tempo. I think it was I think the players just new and enlisted I don't want to say. I'm going to tell you like Jack looked like he was pumping his legs, really hard. You saw him in the in the download drills. So I'm in the battle drills in the skating in the back checking I mean, you saw from what you would want to see from a fourth line die and how he works in practice to hang onto a spot. That's how I felt that we were seeing Jack work today was was a different level of work. Like a he wanted to be the hardest working. He wanted to be the best player on the ice. He wanted to set a set a make a statement. Now is that an overstatement to I feel like I have you guys been battling so much. I'm just telling you have a nice nice gentle conversation here. It's. It's always nice at this time of the year reps to be like so and optimistic and choosey ask about ten postal look at Jack IKEA look at Skinner. Look at those guys they are raising their level. Yes. They're raising their level. Yes. It looks great. Now when you face twenty other guys from another organization that have raised their level, and they look great in training camp. That's the testing right there. And at the small details that are going to start to separate good teams from bad teams at both ends of the ice. So, you know, from watching the first full practice with the first group it was physical. It was high tempo. The guys worked hard, you could see them, you know, that things are tough in an NHL training camp. When most of the guys are bent over after doing drills, they're fatigued, and it working out and skating all summer, four gating all summer and working out running. Sprinting all everything to be ready. As well as I do, and it doesn't ever change? It doesn't. I don't care. What area you're in? It doesn't matter. How hard you train that first day training camp is always hard. That's always hard. I'm not saying you're exhausted and tired in the first three drills. I'm saying the overall day the training the practice the work that they put you can handle it you get through it at high tempo. Yeah. But it's not what you've been doing all summer. First one's always the hardest and the reason for that guys. Get on the ice for the first time they understand that. It's a real training camp and those emotions. Can can grab maybe some of your energy. When you start to kind of get into the swing of things, there's there's the physical side working hard this and that, but there's also the emotional side of that. Also that's dragging some energy from these guys because it's the first day. All right. So we're talking about Jack Eichel. I have a chair next to me in an open seat between Mardian I and I'm going to repeat a joke. They call me DJ repeaters anyway. Interview. Interviewing anti tales girlfriend here. Don't know. I did like it. The first time I. Fake girlfriend hilarious. We're just you know, the the first group come off the ice waiting on hopefully, Patrick brutal. And that's what I'm saying. He just came off the part of the first group, but some of the quotes are already come in. Blair's players. And and there's a great quote here from Jake McCabe talking about Jeff Skinner, he says he competes like a son of a you know, what really it's great to have him in a blue and gold now. So I don't have to be pissed off. Every time we go down to Carolina that was John Vogel put that on Twitter, but that is the change of culture that we're talking about you acquired a player in James Skinner dad goes out on the ice for practice and training camp. And he competes like at ten on ten every time he goes out there. So now, Jeff Skinner's doing that. So you're one of the young guys you're Victor Olsen, and you see Jeff Skinner doing that. And you say, hey, does guy has been all star game is scores like a ton forty goals or whatnot. I better be competing like a son of a gun to be able to to to stay afloat here. And to know what it's like to be a pro. So that to me is the change of culture and change the culture is what we're. Talking about here. Buy sell trade presented by buffalo sports. We got squeeze this in here. We have one today, and it has to do with Tyler Sagan signing his deal expectations for Jack. We were just talking about Jack and this season and he's optimistic..
