"Cupertino California apple today, announced that sir, Johnny ive, Apple's chief design officer will depart the company as an employee later this year to form an independent design company, which will count apple among its primary clients, while he pursues personal projects. I've in his new company will continue to work closely and on a range of products with apple while I mean while on one hand, I'm devastated as someone who started out in this business as a designer Gianni and his relationship with apple was just everything I looked up to everything is fired to be on the other hand, though. As someone no longer in design. Johnny, I've set free, but still connected to apple is something I really, really deeply feel but sorry, I, I wasn't going to do this video today. I was going to wait and think, on it a bit and do a deeper, more forward-looking video tomorrow. But then you guessed it, the internet happened hot takes began to rain. In down, like medias and a Michael bay movie. And as expected, a lot of them were just as terrible, like terrible set and exhaust terrible. That's why ultimately decided to split my video in to, to get something short out now today and then focus on something deeper for tomorrow, so hit subscribe rugby-tackled that bell, mostly. You don't miss tomorrow show. And then buckle up. I'm Rene Ritchie. And this is Victor Johnny is a singular figure in the design world and his role in Apple's revival. Cannot be overstated from nine hundred ninety eight groundbreaking. I MAC to the iphone and the unprecedented ambition of apple park, where recently, he has been putting so much of his energy and care. That's the statement from Tim cook, apple CEO, apple will continue to benefit from Johnny's talents by working directly with them on exclusive projects and through the ongoing work of the brilliant and passionate design team. He has built after so many years, working closely together, I'm happy that relationship continues to evolve and I look. Forward to working with Johnny long into the future. Okay. But so what does all this mean I, Johnny has literally been at apple since the second coming of Steve Jobs, when it comes to personal computing? He's been there designed that. He's won more awards and been on more patents and entire companies combined. He's a big part of the reason almost all phones are now singular slabs why every laptop for a long time was wedged as air and why it was so hard for so long to tell any other tablet apart from the ipad. He was a design league not just for apple unofficially, for the industry, but he's also a designer a passionate beyond talented designer who outside of a few projects for product red hasn't been able to design much of anything else in two decades, not a set of chairs or a desk. Not a bicycle or personal jet plane. Not a set of knives, or a grandfather clock, he's designed the best selling products in the history of bestselling products. But that's all he's been able to design that is. Aside from his recent flirtation with apple park, and apple retail. Why would Johnny? I've leave apple only for this new design company. Love from to be hired by apple again, before it even officially launches sometime next year. Probably because it's a win win for everyone involved first apples. No stranger to working with outside design companies prior to the age of I've frog design helped make so many of Apple's early products. So ecomomic apples, also worked with outside agencies in the past with whom they've created some of the most memorable ads of all time. Johnny is the reason they haven't been doing it since Johnny. And now that they might start doing it again. Either in name only, or as a real deep collaboration time will tell it'll be with you. Guessed it, Johnny. And with Marc Newson, who's joining Johnny at from love after spending the last few years with him at apple not only shaping products in his own, right. But as a kindred spirit in a way that no one else could be since the passing of Steve Jobs. Second, Johnny not only knows everything apple has done up until. Now, he knows everything. The company is currently working on for the future as well. His team has been pushing out designs not just for the next generation of products like glasses auto motives, but prototyping and brainstorming generations of products after that, having some extra insurance wrapped up around that is in everyone's benefit, especially because third, it pre-empts just a ton of silly speculative headlines around, what if Google or Samsung or while way or whatever competitor hired love from and Johnny fourth? It keeps Johnny in the apple family, even if he's moved out and gotten his own space, and that doesn't just cut down the neighborhood drama. It keeps up the fields in the family design team leaders Evans, Hanky vice president of industrial design and Alan die vice president of human interface. Design report to Jeff Williams. Apple's chief operating officer both die. Hanky have played key leadership roles in Apple's design team for many years. Williams has led the development of apple watch since inception, and we'll spend more of his time working with the design team. In their studio now. She's not very well known outside of apple at all, but by every account, I've heard so far Evans is beyond solid. She's been effectively running industrial design for years, since almost after Johnny left, day-to-day management, there to focus on apple park, and apple retail. And she deserves a ton of credit for a lot of what the team has done over the last few years, and, yeah, feel free to transform that credit into blame if you're super salty and spicy about things like the butterfly keyboard, but it takes a company and years to let that ship, and I can get into that. In a follow video if you want me to let me know in the comments, but it's probably fair to judge her by the next keyboard than this one, just like the next air pods. And, you know, next generation of I phones having her and Alan die whose effectively been running HI since seven report into Jeff Williams is going to be a real head scratcher for a lot of people, and it's a bold choice, but I'm not sure it's a bad one neither Evans, nor Allen are being promoted this point and having them go back to reporting Tim cook like die. Richard Haworth did. Johnny was off working on apple park would have felt to me more like apple had no other idea what to really do it them. Jeff by contrast has been running apple health and apple watch for years and not just the way Dan rea show. Run some special projects groups or q runs. Apple TV Jeff is incredibly detail, oriented, and has a real passion for design part of the reason sub econ was promoted to senior vice president of operations was, so Jeff could spend more time focusing on product including especially design, also apple doesn't just meant senior vice presidents. Let alone C level executives, even two of the most important hires in the recent history of the company, Johnny Saruji who runs silicon, and John Andrea who runs machine learning took some time to get their senior vice president power ups, if apple is considering anyone internal, or external for senior vice president, design, I wouldn't expect to hear about until after some time passes, and a big new product version lodges after nearly thirty years on countless projects. I am most proud of the last day work, we have done to create. A design team process and culture at apple that is without peer today. It is stronger more vibrant and more talented that at any point in Apple's history. That's according to Johnny. I've the team will certainly thrive under the leadership of Evans Alan and Jeff who have been among my closest collaborators I have the utmost confidence in my designer colleagues at apple who remained my closest friends and look forward to working with them for many years to come. There's an incredibly crucial point inside their apple is absolutely the some of its people from Steve Jobs to Johnny is to Tim cook to everybody else. But everyone will leave eventually everyone or apple to truly last it has to have a soul beyond those people. The most important product everyone at apple works on every day isn't the apple watch it isn't the ipad. It isn't even the iphone. It's apple. It's making apple into something that can not only survive, but thrive even after any of them now you're going to hear from some people that Johnny checked out of apple after Steve Jobs passed away or. Shortly before he took on the very different challenges of apple park, and apple retail and for some people even at apple both of those things are going to be true for others, though, for the one still working within presenting to Johnny on a regular basis, it's going to sound beyond ridiculous. And that's because the internet like people just aren't good with multiple truths were not as simplistic, as catchy headlines and hot takes make us want to imagine and situations are seldom as extreme where complicated, we're contextual. And so our passions in relationships Donnie, led the team that designed everything at apple then the teams that designed the places to put all those teams and all those things he has I can only imagine look upon the breadth of his product portfolio and felt like he had no world left to conquer. Imagine how that must feel to one of the greatest industrial designers in history. And then imagine what doing something like love from must feel with one of your best mates and a deal that lets you still create with apple. But also create beyond apple create anything whole new. The world whole new challenges in potentials product red electric bikes be blasted aluminum hot tubs, Siri bubbles. Whatever he wants whatever he can dream up and will into production and who knows in a few years. Maybe we'll documentary on curiosities dream about his impact. I mean, they have one up on Frank Gehry after all, but also much more..

"I don't like being the broken one. I don't like being the Fram. Anyone would really like? Yeah. I I I didn't know what to do so much of my resistance wasn't even so much of it wasn't me saying God, I won't walk through this. I'm willing to walk through this. But got out know how I I don't know how to be the broken friend. I don't know how to be the one who I'm so anxious now that when I call I've called five hundred times because. I'm so broken that they see my number and think, oh, Lord, please. Not. I just don't have the emission energy for her today. You know, what I mean like, I don't ever feel. You can say I I I don't wanna be that girl. You know? I just don't I don't know. How do we ought to be that person? Yeah. I get. And so that was that's what was so hard. But there in order to in order to heal from the pain you have to deal with the pain. So it just became obvious to me that as much as I didn't like this season. And I didn't like the new roles that I was having to play. And I didn't like who you know, what this had done to me it the only way the only way to get to the hope on the other side was to to walk through the valley and. It was crucial for me to identify friends. Who I knew were praying more words over me than they were speaking to me or speaking about me, and then with those friends I would have to go stand on their faith when I could not find footing on my own. And so one practical thing I did is I scheduled visits. I came to your house is ten scheduled a visit. And it was just like, hey, Shelley. I'm coming to Atlanta. I'm spending that out at your house amazing minute of I'm going to hang out with you and whoever dozing to be around and I'd like to go to one art gallery, and guess what? I'm also going to make you paint. With me. I painting Victor Johnny knows Kelly. Herbal that way at the airport, and we drove to the arts and crafts Shelley's like in here in a while. It was like my nieces here with little. And and then I scheduled visits with like, I said, my friend Colette in Alabama is scheduled visits with some friends in Nashville. I I went to the people who I knew I could stand on their faith, and I forced myself to get outside of the four walls that I call home which had always been a place of comfort. But now is a source of trauma for me and. None of that felt good. But but it was good and it was necessary. And and so, you know walking through that valley. I I had to have otherwise people walking beside me that was crucial. Another crucial thing is I had to keep reminding myself. It's not always going to be this way. Because sometimes the pain gets so intense, and it stays so long that it feels like it's always going to hurt this bad. It's always gonna feel this desperate. It's never going to feel normal. Again. I remember having so many conversations where I would tell people all I want is normal. And then I woke up within a Piff Unie one day, and it's like who really lives in this place called more. Who would you know? I'd like to send a text message to that word called normal. And they ask for it to come. Visit and see if I like it as much as I fantasize. About liking it, you know, but this amazing. And so, and then I think also walking through this. The other thing that helped me was opening my eyes at the people around me and reaching out to people on social media who were also going through things, but maybe who were two steps back behind me. And I love what Andy Stanley says in his principle of due for one. What you wish you could do for all? And so during this season every now, and then God will put somebody who I know is experiencing trauma, like what I experience, and here's how I know. I'm supposed to reach out to that person. I asked myself are they potentially alone in their bed at two AM weeping when no one to call, and that's one of my pizza, and so it's been incredible..

"Bad is Paul Hello you're. Still with us As. Far as I know you ever had him on the show I've had. Paul on the honorable Paul, Hillier, has been on, this program I would say probably three four. Maybe five times but it's been a while keeping in mind I think. Mr. Hallier is almost I think he's around ninety five now and. I also believe that he's very busy working on his memoir. So he's focusing his his energy and his time on that why did? You have a specific issue you'd. Like to raise. With Mr.? Hallier? Just know that he's Very interesting both in his Is, understanding of, possible extraterrestrial life visiting Canada and also is used on government. Issues. And, stuff, like that right well yeah he had kind of a How, would you how would you describe it I guess his own personal, disclosure in, I think it was two thousand and five and our good. Friend. Victor, Johnny, was very instrumental in convincing The honorable mister, Hallier to to announce to? Come public to go public with his, belief that the earth has been visited by extraterrestrial civilizations hang on. A, second I think my cordless phones Dying it's your very quiet I can hardly hear. You at all all right Mike, Arnold's grab another one at all right while you're doing that I'll just talk to the. Folks but yeah Paul Hellier he his his coming to Jesus. Moment if I can use that expression someone gave him a copy of Philip Corso book the day after Roswell and he took he. Read that book while he was up at his cottage and then he had obviously made contacts over the years as defense minister and deputy prime, minister with, military people in the United States and he happened to be speaking with one who is never identified, as, far as I. Can tell any asked this particular high ranking military officer whether everything whether what course I was writing about in the day after Roswell was true and this individual. Said yes everything and. More so this really ignited The, honorable, Paul hilliers interest. In UFO's and ET's Now. He has he has had his own UFO, citing I believe he's mentioned it on this program During a trip to Montreal, he may have had. More than one. But while he was defence minister while. He was defence minister he had no knowledge Extraterrestrials or Or or, the lenders, quite frankly Of course the other interesting area that that Paul Hillier has has spoken about is the Bank of Canada. And the Bank of Canada act and I believe he was part, of this It's not a class action lawsuit but. It was it was a it was a Litigation. Before the I think it went to the supreme court of Canada and Rocco Galati the attorney here in Toronto was was representing this particular, group that were. That were charging conspiracy that, the federal government the Queen of, England you name it we're involved in this conspiracy ignoring the Bank of Canada act which, would allow the various levels of government to borrow money from the. Bank of Canada which was nationalized back in, the nineteen thirties by prime minister king they could borrow money. For very little interest and that will change under Pierre. Trudeau, in the nineteen seventies and then of course they started, borrowing from international lenders anyway that's an whole other kettle. Of fish, with Paul Hallier but he is multifaceted fascinating. Individual we hope is well and, again my understanding. Is he's working, on his memoirs All right we'll continue to try and raise. Michael telling from South Africa in the meantime open lines here in the, conspiracy show you know the feeling that not that materializes in your stomach as you, drive away from your house to begin a two week vacation by the. Time you hit the highway worries are racing through your mind did I turn off the coffee pot did I locked the patio door what, if the house. Burns down well thankfully there's, a cure for this same old, panic attack how sitting if you don't have a neighbor to keep watch over your home, while you're away a.
