Why the Georgia Senate Runoff Elections Matter

"Let's talk about these runoffs. That's happening january. Fits for georgia. We have senator. David perdue running against david also off and then we have reverend raphael warnock going against khalil. Lafler a Jacob can you explain to listeners. How important this is for georgia to win the senate for the democrats okay and so important thing about it. Is i think that people think the presidency is the polish right. And they don't understand that it's really the legislative branch which congress congress has the power. They'd passed the laws. The president's job is to sign laws into power. Have you signs off on it. But he's not really the guy that it aside from executive orders executive orders are not laws right they can be overturned but no matter which president comes laws are passed by congress right it goes from the house. Representatives to the senate in laws of pat. So again you have laws. Currently that's been bills that have been four hundred bill sitting with mitch mcconnell. He hasn't passed. And that's because republicans. Control the senate simple bills at nonpartisan bills. Kamala harris and tim cook from south carolina republican Senate on the anti lynching. Bill blocked by mitch mcconnell. Simple things like you know first responders bills right that helps them blocked by mitch mcconnell. There's many bills that sitting there for hundred because he has the ability to do it because the republicans control the senate ranks it will data with matt would what what a what. Joe biden does at that moment. if he doesn't have a lot more control a set because what you run into is. He sends a bill down a he goes to. Congress said hey i want to. I want to put this particular bill right now. He talks about systematic races and he turns around to nancy pelosi. And says hey. I want to do something about systematic racism and they create a bill and because the democrats control the house right. They can pass that bill. Then it goes to the senate mitch. Mcconnell and the republicans who says there's no such thing assistant Can block and then. Joe biden didn't have the water that bill down to a bill that they think is worse than passing less removing things from it or adding things to just so the republicans pick pass it or he'll have to as an executive order and lo and behold for years from now of a of a trump gets elected again just reverse and will react to start again and so the important thing is if you get and a ed to place but democrats and republicans will then have equal amount of people in the senate and kamala harris i'll mix vp. The vp of the united states is the president of the senate. Yes yes oh she will sit there and then she will be the deciding. Vote on all these lots should break the filibuster and so if you wanna see certain laws get through. It's important to get out and get these. These two gentlemen elected as sems. Senators have more power than almost anyone in this country. As where does that but they did. The president uniquely enough. If you look at the history. America but president was really put into place to deal with international affairs more than he was put into place to deal with domestic affairs. Congress really dealt with domestic affairs. The president was really because it was a of different states right and they operate with only kind of presidents called governors. Had been own congress with investigates which is the paper had on supreme court's that they own police force their own military force but they did not know how to deal with national international issues. Like hot. who's gonna deal with us. We're going to deal with london. England who's going to france was going to deal with germany. And who's going to deal with all this stuff international fuss. We need to nominate a national guy in place undo. Vat stunts for us. That's how it originally started loan and so the as time went by the president became more and more empowered but at the beginning. They just wanted him to deal with like. How much are we going to sell. Cotton ustralia for. Who's gonna talk to australia for us. We can't have fifty governors right right so we have to nominate two senators. I stay with nominate people from within the district's in america to go to a federal house. We got to nominate someone on top of them and then they can handle the guys on of the senators on the house of representatives which created congress national dishes fuss and then the president can handle international issues like if we decided to go to war outside. The president can do that right internally. We can handle right. So that's how it really started. As time went by the federalist which is people that wanted federal power to control more the president of more and more more more power within the state within the country so always understand that senators have a ton of i and we have to make sure and the map is set up. It's two senators for state. It doesn't matter if your california was sixty million. You're you're not the cold with nine hundred thousand. It's two senators per state and if you notice there's more red states than there are blue states so it's very interesting high back stabler thing. Worse and senators can stop everything they they they're responsible for nominating supreme court justices involved in pass laws and the bacon block you. It doesn't matter. What joe biden tries to do. You'll have to use the executive power or he has the water down that bill right to stop you. Don't like lights cryer. Bill ninety four where he had the water bill down as a senator so that to get the republicans supporting you get three strikes. You're out and then you get this. Mass incarceration everybody gets mad at him and he's like well. I can't acid through the senate without involved in them because we don't control the senate and so they put things in and we put things in and you get bills that don't turn out the way you want it to but you try to get the best of both worlds to get the republicans to sign off. So it's important to understand that we can't put the president in place and not help him with backing him up with the senate the vp can sit there and as the president of the senate. She can help to move things away. We need to move

"It's morning edition from NPR News. I'm Steve Inskeep, and I'm Rachel Martin. We're going to take a look at two of the most important state that were called last night by The Associated Press. In a moment, we'll go to Arizona, but we start in Florida estate. That always is it play in presidential races. Both candidates visited Florida many times during the campaign, and it was a state Democrats were hoping to win back. That did not happen. We won states that we weren't expected to in Florida. We didn't win it. We wanted by a lot. Which is true, President Trump did secure a significant win there with his conservative base, turning out big time. NPR's Elliot is in Tallahassee, Florida, Florida for us, I will get the words out could morning, Tuffy you Good morning. Hang in there. Long night. Okay, So it was a big win, not just for the president in Florida, but the whole Republican Party in the state, right? Right, and some of the GOP operatives I spoke what they're already arguing that Florida's moving out of battleground territory and more into that reliably red column for the long term. The party already had both U. S Senate seats and all but won statewide elected office. New gains yesterday include two South Florida congressional seats that were flipped from Democratic control, notably the one held by representative Donna Shall Wail, a Democrat and former health secretary in the Clinton administration, who lost your Republican Maria Elvira Salazar. So what did you notice in terms of trends among voters study? Well, One thing is Trump deepened his support in his adopted home state from four years ago. Former vice president job Haydn had been hoping to sort of peel away maybe some of the older voters in Florida but he just wasn't able to car about Democratic coalition that was big enough to compete with Trump strength. I am the enthusiasm of his supporters. You know, it seems like just about every weekend leading up to this election. There was some sort of Trump Boat parade or a golf cart caravan. Somewhere in Florida. Hey, not only turned out his conservative base in places like the Florida Panhandle, But he showed some strength in South Florida, Miami Dade County, for instance, making inroads in particular with Latino voters. Trump had been reaching out to Cuban Americans and other groups warning them of the spread of socialism in the U. S. Here in Tallahassee. I spoke with Trump voter Ramon Mari, a naturalized citizen from Colombia. He says his mother is from Venezuela, and he worries that there are factions trying to pull America apart and put it on a similar path. It troubles me having come from another country and having to come to the land of the free and where most everyone wanted to create their opportunities. Now, Every trump supporter I spoke with talked about economic opportunity is a driving factor and how they voted. So for much of the day yesterday, there was this an uncertainty about how Florida would go. Then it was called, But now we're all waiting to figure out who won nationally. I mean, as you have talked to Floridians, how do they feel about it? The unresolved nature of the of the national election. Well, here's what Evan Power told me who is the chair of the Leon County Republican Party here in Tallahassee. We've been through a lot of the country. I think we can withstand its just the greatness of the American Republic that we're going to solve this with lawyers and not with having of revolution.

I think we can withstand its just the greatness of the American Republic that we're going to solve this with lawyers and not with having of revolution and having people shooting people in the streets. It's going to be a peaceful transfer of power and resolution through the court system. And you know Rachel, Florida's been there before. 20 years ago, we'll see what happens now. NPR's Debbie Elliot in Tallahassee. Thanks, Ted. Welcome. Now there's a set of states on land of the United States, one from Mexico on a war in the 18 forties. Just over a generation ago, these states of the Southwest were reliably Republican. Since then, the Pacific coast and the Southwestern states have gradually become more Blue, California of course, COLORADO, New Mexico. And Nevada has become a swing state, which is undecided by the way at this moment, But then there's Arizona, which has not gone for a Democrat since the 19 nineties until last night. The Associated Press has called Arizona for Joe Biden and NPR's Kirk Siegler is in Phoenix following the presidential race and a Senate race either Kurt Good morning, Steve. How big a deal is it that Arizona would vote for a Democrat for president and also by the way for Senate, Mark Kelly. Right, Well, we're talking about turnout. Democrats are Khun Credit a big turnout here, particularly in Maricopa County, the state's most populous, which includes Phoenix. Aah, and it has been trending purple, if not outright blue sense about 2018. So I think to your point to answer to your question. Ah, this is a state that I think Joe Biden wanted Toa win. Now it's a state. That's you know, Sena's absolutely crucial, you know, gives him a little bit of a cushion or a least a path if he doesn't sweep our path to reelection or behalf to election if he doesn't sweep the upper Midwest and Pennsylvania and the others Sunbelt states that Democrats had hoped to get more gains in Yeah, We're looking at these states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Biden might have needed all three. But because he's got Arizona he might be able to get away with two of them and still get up to 270 electoral votes. Can you talk to me about how it is that Arizona as well as that entire region has changed demographically or socially. Why would it be trending more blue? What you're talking about a lot of these Western states you think of the vast open spaces. But Arizona, like many of the other Western states is really urban. You know, it's increasingly urban, and we know that that generally benefits Democrats. There have been a lot of younger people moving in from states like California AA New York Tech workers, But the story America But county in particular and Phoenix is that it's increasingly diverse and you have younger Latinos who are coming of voting age..

"vice president job" Discussed on Republic Keeper - with Brian O'Kelly

"His reaction. He's and this is a company with direct connections to the communist government of China. So the former vice president job. That he had no knowledge whatsoever of his son's business dealings and was not involved in them at all. But this sounds like direct involvement in them. Yeah. That's a blatant line when you states that that is a blatant line. Obviously the world aware that I attended the debate last Thursday and keys and this is a company with direct connections to the communist government of China. So screened liar and walked out almost and Thursday. I'll be honest with you. I almost stood up and screamed liar and walked out because I was shocked that after four days or five days that they prepped for this that the Biden family is taking a position to the world. And once again, I'm Irrelevant in this discussion. I just was brought in to run this company and have been exposed to all of this fact and I believed in people should see this fact, I would have much preferred the buying family go on record and to find these facts for the American people on the globe versus me sitting here having a discussion wage. On it. So Joe Biden has not denied meeting with you in Los Angeles. Correct? Correct. Tell us about the conversation that you had with him. So I initially was sitting because I got there a little earlier was same thing with Jim button and Hunter Biden and Joe came through the lobby with his security and Hunter basically said, hey, give me a second. I'll go over and give me 10 minutes to brief my dad wage and read them in on things. And so then Hunter and his father and security came through the bar and obviously I stood up out of respect to shake his hand and Hunter introduced me as long this is Tony dead the individual I told you about that's helping us with the business that we're working on and the Chinese. So it was clear to you that Joe Biden's son had told him about this is crystal clear crystal clear. So, it's Crystal Clear that Joe Biden knows who Tony is What they're there to talk about that Joe Biden knows the nature of the business that they are conducting right? And so I'm wondering if that matches with this who's going to be able to go in and help Democrats win back a senate has it occurred to you that there's a certain irony here that here. The president is accused of and is acknowledged wanting to suck get information about your son Hunter and his dealings with Ukraine and this process of impeachment has ensured that everyone knows about hunter's dealings with Ukraine. That's a good thing or no one's found anything wrong with it, except they say sets a bad image. Would you agree that it sets a bad image? My son said that do you think it was wrong for him to take that position knowing that it was really because I thought they wanted access to you. Well, that's not true. You're saying things you do not know what you're talking about. No one said that who said that don't don't you think that it's just one of those things where people Well, that seems kind of sleazy. Why would he have that job? If not for his who is Father does seem swinging it very bright guy. That's the question of kind of influence. Was it right as a. Yeah. Well, he said he regretted. Have you done it be true self a grown man going to predict a win tomorrow night. I don't predict twins because I'm superstitious but I will do very well. Yeah, so help me help me with how that comports at any level with the involvement of Tony Bob bielinski. So Joe Biden knows nothing about Hunter Biden's business. He's never discussed it with with him. There's never been any accusations of anything wrong ever and yet when Joe Biden flies to Los Angeles late at night an old guy and he's an old he was old guy five years ago, okay. When he flies Los Angeles late at night. It's a priority for Joe Biden to meet with Hunters business partner. The foreign vice president was flying in and we were down at the Beverly Hilton the Milken conference was going on. Obviously one of the top three conferences in the world for anybody. That's a global investor or developing different humanitarian causes and a variety of things and he was Joe was flying in to speak about the cancer in the moon shot stuff. He was working on and Hunter and everyone was in town and they wanted of coordinate meeting with Channel and so it was set up for the night of May 2nd at the Beverly Hilton. I met first met with Hunter Biden and Jim Biden and I had a you know light discussion where they briefed me that listen, you know, my dad's on the way and we wanted too much detail on the business front will just spend time talking at a high level about Cong When your background Biden family and you know, he's got to get some rest cuz he's speaking as a at the conference in the morning. So this was at night the president vice president just flown across the country. He's an older man. He's got work to do correct, but they carved out a piece of his schedule for you to meet with him. Why would they do that? Because they were sort of wining and dining me and presenting the strength of the Biden family to get me more engaged and want to take on the senior role and you know develops. I know Hawk both in the United States and around the world in partnership with Cesc and I wage as you can imagine I've been asked by a hundred people over the last month. You know, why would you be meeting with Joe Biden? I sort of turned the question around to the people that ask me why at 10:38 on the night of May 2nd. Would Joe Biden take time out of his schedule to sit down with me in a dark bar at the Beverly Hilton sort of position behind a column. So people couldn't see us to have a discussion about Family and my family and business at a very high level where Jim bite and sat and Hunter Biden participating and I'm Irrelevant in the story where they were raising money from me. There was no other reason for me to be in that bar meeting Joe Biden then to discuss what I was doing with his family's name in the Chinese CFC wage is very important. They didn't need anything from Tony. They didn't need his money. They didn't need his position. They didn't need his connections. What they needed was his credibility and his credibility is what he's not going to throw away by not revealing what he knows once his name was involved because the New York Post article and when the Senate report came out, he saw the illegal money. He saw that had been lied to about the flow of five million dollars. And so he contacted the Senate to begin the process of sharing his information and then this story broke and the rich history now, I want to leave you with a few things. We're going to wrap up here, but I want seven quick seven quick points and they're they're very short and one very important fact. I'm into the request first just in case you drop off cuz you think the seven points might be boring. So here's the very important request. The election is not over. As near as anyone can tell only about thirty-five to forty percent of everyone has voted which means the majority of people still have not voted. Okay. And I know that there are Democrats who hate Donald Trump so much that it doesn't matter.

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott closed night won the first African American senator from a southern state since reconstruction. Offered a more optimistic tone, saying the election isn't just about Donald Trump and Joe Biden. It's about the promise of America. But he says there's a key difference between right and left. Do we want a society that breeds success or a culture that cancels everything? It even slightly disagrees with a scaled down convention because of the pandemic, and his Democrats hammered the president's job last week. Republicans, like former U N Ambassador Nikki Haley are standing by him. President Trump brought our economy back before and he will bring it back again. Ex-Hulu CEO Jason Kilar named chief of WarnerMedia

"Warner media. At and T. The owner of Warner media made a big move hiring Jason Pilar. He had been the first head of Hulu he'd been gone from there for several years. Not doing anything of great notes since then but he was. He made quite a splash as head of Hulu and they have put him in charge of everything. I mean this is. He has never run a company of this magnitude. This is like a radical move. He's in charge of the. Hbo Streaming Service. He's in charge of CNN. He's in charge of the Warner Brothers Film and TV Studio Hbo. I mean this is quite an astonishing thing Hollywood is trying to figure out what to make of it. It's a bit of a controversial choice. Only because of his history Hulu now when he ran Hulu. It was the early days and it was owned by several different studios at once but he was known as kind of a gadfly and he published missives about the future of the business and he basically took down the linear streaming business in a memo that he famously wrote and predicted the future of on demand video which is largely. Come true but it was seen at the time as kind of an insubordinate thing to do and here he is now in charge of all of these media properties and reporting to John Stinky at. At and T. He was formerly Warner media. He's now been elevated to the president job at. At and T. and at and T. is not atypical. Hollywood companies so you could see both clashes developing upward at his company and downward with all these divisions at now. Report him yeah. There were clashes upward in the past. I mean he had owners like Fox and Disney which were separate companies. In the day you know this was early. Early Days Net flicks was establishing itself starting to and he would tell them. Basically your old school media my bosses and you don't know what you're doing and they ultimately did get rid of him but so he did look like he was right. In retrospect but when you look at a company like at and T. Up and down as you say I mean Bob Greene Blat is is supposed to be in charge of content for. Hbo Max and Hbo and all of that. You gotta wonder what he thinks of helping this guy. Suddenly being his boss and one of my sources said something in an admittedly. This is a one of their competitors. So you know. Take that into account but he said like why are they have to do this right now? Like this guy is supposed to start at the beginning of May. He can't even meet face to face with the people that he is the boss of and getting to know because he not a familiar guy to people in the old school. You know the Toby Emirates Runs Warner Film Studio. He's not a guy who has necessarily known in that kind of circle and he has. This person pointed out not only hasn't done anything this big but can't actually meet with his own people kind of striking. Yeah but I think that's kind of the point. They wanted someone who is GonNa come in here and have that streaming background because everything that. At and T. has done with the Warner Properties since they purchase them has been pointed towards the streaming future and HBO. Max is the biggest example of that. But they've also created a film studio at Warner Brothers specifically for streaming and they're looking at. How TAKE THOSE LINEAR? Tv brands like Turner TBS TNT and turn them into Digital Branson. I think that this is if you look at it closely. This is the perfect hire for that strategy because you have a digital streaming video pioneer. Who understands or at least has been familiar with the content business but is not of that business and I think that's the thinking. At and T. Yeah I mean it's an experiment and old school Hollywood which you can dismiss if you want to but has made content that people like to watch for a long time old school. Hollywood is like I'm not so sure and I say skeptical of everything that I am. I wonder what they saw that they were already quite top heavy and disorganized with management in terms of who is doing what at the streaming service and the film studio that set aside of service the streaming the whole thing just was kind of crazy confusing and you think you. I I kind of wonder well. What did you guys see? That made you feel like we have to do this. We have to do it right now. And time will tell. It is a kind of wild

Pelosi: House 'close' to striking deal with Trump on coronavirus response package

"Breaking news from Capitol Hill as House Speaker. Nancy Pelosi announced that she is close to an agreement to legislative deal with the trump administration on a package that could be passed tomorrow to deal with mostly the economic effects of the Corona virus and Donald Trump has not been involved in the negotiations is treasury. Secretary has done the president's job for him because the president is not in the mood to speak with Nancy Pelosi and reportedly believes that Speaker Pelosi would humiliate him if he involved himself in the discussions. This is of course one way of looking at the other way of looking at it as Donald trump humiliates himself whenever he opens his mouth as he did last night. While Donald Trump was addressing the nation last night for ten minutes from the office stock market futures trading started to drop dramatically and then when the market opened today proceeded to crash by the largest amount since nineteen eighty-seven losing almost ten percent of its value today. Harvard economics professor and former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers tweeted hostess sets. What I believe is a new world record for presidential market value destruction. Joining us now. Is Jason Furman? The former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. The President Obama. He is now professor of the practice of economic policy. At Harvard's Kennedy School. Thank you very much for joining US tonight. Professor Ruin what. What would you suggest the government action that could be taken now? What action could be taken to deal with what we're seeing as the economic effects of this crisis? Lawrence this is the most serious economic crisis. This country may have faced since the Great Depression bigger than what we faced in two thousand eight. Two thousand eight was terrible. It was devastating but most people kept their jobs. Many people kept spending right now. Everyone is cutting their spending large swaths of the economy. People's jobs are at risk. And so once you start to think about that the answer to your question of what we should do the more. We can do the better so my next question was going to be. Is this one thousand. Nine hundred eighty seven or is this nineteen twenty nine which you've already answered that it's closer to that of maybe about six months ago. I reread John. Kenneth Galbraith book the Great Crash About The nineteen twenty nine stock market crash. And when you read the things people were saying As it was already underway as the crash was happening others so many people who sounded like Donald Trump that saying it will bounce back as the president said today the stock market will bounce back. Don't worry about it Larry cudlow the other day saying invest As it's going down you know you'll be very happy with that. Of course it's dropped dramatically since Kudlow said that so just to set this of for our audience perspective you are comparing this now to the nineteen twenty nine crash of the stock absolutely and you know the difference is it depends on what happens if we get through this virus and the next two months then maybe it bounces right back if it takes us nine months even at that point if we find a cure for the vaccine a lot of damage a huge amount of damage will be done to companies to workers on to unemployment of type. That would persist. And you could take a long time to to recover from so I I'd love to have more reassuring things to say for Lawrence but I just I am. I am worried right now. Well you're confirming what. I've been feeling in my my amateur way about this but so this presents an enormous policy-making challenge because when you talk about things like payroll tax cut which the president mentioned a few days ago and it died instantly when the Senate Finance Committee chairman said he wouldn't even consider it. That could come back. But a payroll tax cut to a person. Who's no longer on payroll Doesn't work the way it bye-bye in the stimulus way. You might have wanted it to a while. That person was still on the payroll. That's absolutely right so what I think we should do. Is Number one everything. We can do on health free testing which is in the house legislation. I think that's terrific. We're GONNA eat a lot of hospital beds. A lot of ventilators. We're going to need that fast

House managers turn attention to obstruction-of-Congress charge against Trump

"House managers wrapping up their opening arguments in the impeachment trial the president's the White House defense team said deliver its opening tomorrow the house managers feel they have a strong case lots of evidence is not going to matter to Republican senators who seem to have already made up their minds if it doesn't what about the public will they be convinced to G. Terry Madonna director of the center for politics and public affairs at Franklin Marshall College is with us so does any of this matter do you think your everybody's minds just made up already yeah well that that's a great question the fact of the matter is that Democrats Democrats in that in in the house move to impeach two articles of impeachment with a couple of exceptions not a single Republican in the house voted for either of the two articles now our over in the Senate where it looks like it looks like the Senate Republicans to a person we'll both do a quick maybe one or two will not end the converse is true among the Senate among the Senate Democrats it's it's I mean literally out so far and you know we've got the last day of the of the house Democrats are making their the managers making their arguments before the Senate then tomorrow the president team takes over for three days then we have three days of of questions from the Senate and then next Saturday the way the schedule is right now it could change the get to decide witnesses but the bigger point is it's virtually changing no ones minds listen to this this is the real clear politics average forty seven point four percent of Americans say remove the president forty eight percent thing now but here's the key Democrats removed eighty five point five percent Republicans removed no eighty nine percent and the president's job performance has remained the same this was a real clear it's forty four point six percent positive about our ask you this I I I'm gonna ask you to be a little bit sort of clairvoyant how do you think how do you think history history books will look back on on this sort of era of American politics yeah how is it going to be go down in history books well let's start with this if we move aside from impeachment there's there's one word polarization we are more polarized as a nation than at any time since we've had scientific polling meaning huge percentage of people who who you know Democrats huge percentage of people on the other side Republic and and you can see that evidence in just what I just looked at with the removal from office but it also plays a role in in trump job performance ninety to ninety five percent of Democrats give president trump and negative job performance eighty five to ninety and even higher in some polls of Republican a given the positive so Democrats negative but not not sixty seventy percent we're talking about ninety to ninety five percent of Democrats disapprove of the job he's doing and the converse is virtually true for Republicans to support him yeah Hey it's way up there on on either ready if they're asking us if there are independence there are a few of them they can be moved do you think they are even watching this because maybe are you watch the opening statements and they start to lose interest but do you watch twenty four hours over three days yeah how do you go through that the senators themselves can barely get through it yeah well that's right remember they're only getting milk and water and at one end of Pennsylvania senator Pat Toomey is supplying all the chocolate I knew her side the right today yeah I'm I'm going to I'm going to be partisan their Pennsylvania chocolates I got the point that out so yeah yeah the independent by the way on removal forty four point six percent say removed and forty six point six percent of independents saying no actually the independence opposing opposing removal conviction and removal as up lightly but I I think you're on to something I think that most Americans are not they're getting it from the news from you folks on radio and from TV they're not sitting here as I'd been virtually forced to do by virtue of my job watching it eight ten hours a day and or they'll pick it up you know if it's here in snippets there but the fundamental the fundamental conclusion is simple as you and I speak right now there is virtually no change in the polarization and the partisanship on this issue all right G. "I just wanted to agree with that. Last caller, I told some friends of mine about two years ago. The only way this was gonna get solved was by the president shutting down the border. Now, let's be realistic. We all understand that the cartels run Mexico for the most part, and they definitely run the north side of Mexico. So these are a ruthless businessman that they are. But they are still businessman. If you cut into their profit margin. They I mean just think about a guys how many how many shipments of drugs. Do they do they do they get through? We only catch maybe one out of every ten. So if you shut the border down at the president said, okay, look at five o'clock on Friday. I'm shutting the border down. No, nothing comes across nothing goes back. How long do you think it will take for those cartels to clean that mess up when they're starting to lose their money? It's Durham money that we need to be worried about that's where that's that will solve itself. How long do you think? President Trump could withstand the complaints that we know would becoming well cry cry me to river, Nancy. I it really doesn't matter. The simple tack matters. We can outlast them on profit more than they can. They're not set up to lose the way we are. I mean, we can we can outlast him. Well, I'm talking about the complaints. It would be coming from congress. That's who I'm talking about. What does he care now at this point? Does it really matter? I mean, well, he has demonstrated his willingness to shut down our own government in order to try to achieve something. So I would not be surprised to see him shut down the border. Well, me either hoping does because he has to do something. He he took an oath of office, and that was to protect and defend the people of the United States. All right, Tim. Thanks. You have a good one. Yeah. Kenny, if he finds a way to shut it down, and it really is shutdown is one of the highest stakes moves that he'll make in his first term, given the potential impact on the economy. And he's gotta keep his eye on that the Nevada democrat woman who came out with allegations on Friday against former vice president job. Biden is making the rounds. Now doing the interviews. She was on CNN this morning Lucy. Flora's is her name. She said that in two thousand fourteen just as she was about to go out and address a big rally in Las Vegas, Joe Biden came up behind her and put his hands on her shoulders, and then smelled her hair and then kissed her on the back of the head. She says she was just mortified that. It was gross. She used a very vulgar term to describe it in the article she wrote in the New Yorker, and now she was on CNN this morning saying, look, I'm not the only one that's been on the receiving end of this gross behavior. So I think it's important to speak out. Now that he's on the verge of announcing he wants to run for president of the reason why decided to finally say something is because those behaviors were not being taken very seriously. They were not being considered from the perspective of the woman on the other side of that power dynamic, and I just can't imagine that. There was never a situation where someone said to him. Him Mr Vice president, you probably should stop doing that. You should probably stop touching women in that way. You should probably keep your hands to yourself. That is Lucy Flora's on CNN. Bernie Sanders recently was hit with a number of allegations from high level women working in his twenty sixteen campaign that they were the victims of sexual harassment and unfair pay that seems to have died off completely for Bernie Sanders. Do you think the same will happen here with Biden if if she's the only one that comes forward Mark if others began to come forward, and you wonder too as Bernie was asked about this over the weekend? And he said, well, I'm not sure if just one situation, you know, should should throw the guy out. So he he was in no position, which was really saying. But he couldn't say that. Yes. Let's talk about Medicare for. All right. Let's get back to that that all right Kenny, and I are back live and local two to three right after rush. Russia's next eleven to two right? Here on kale BJ. "And east of the Rockies week. Oh, you're on the air. Hello. How you doing? I'm doing. All right. Great. Great a little trouble to get through. But I'm glad I did you were troubled to some time. You know, a lot of read island all it was troubled to get there. I see. The prediction. I have is. I think we're gonna see a lot of strides made into cloning area. I don't know how you are with the scientific thing. But you know, some people may think that religious people may believe that if not meant for us to mess with nature, but while you're obviously pretty high on cloning. I would say, right. Well, I I I'm over here in Massachusetts, and they just made some strides. They got I I'm not positive exactly what it is. But there was something done in the area at a local, you know, a bio engineer. Yes. Yeah. But I believe in the coming year. I mean, whether it's supernatural not I think we're gonna see some big strides in that. I don't know about supernatural. It may seem that way. With what we get a zone. In other words, if they if they clone a human being, which is quite likely this year. Not only would you not be surprised, but you would be pleased. Absolutely. I believe there's a lot of a lot of benefits, you know, there's many stem cell research. There's a lot of diseases that can be cured with what about the cloning the full cloning of human beings. I mean, that's where it's going. How do you feel about that? Well, I mean, you can look at it a bunch of different ways of Moya's the person that is raised that way is obviously the same genetically as someone else. But you know, it's you know, sociology would determine your your the outcome. Well, that's kind of a theory. We don't know that for sure I mean twins twins that have been raised. Separately have turned out to be incredibly remarkably alike, despite different environment. So I don't I don't know about that. I mean, it's interesting. I mean, would you clone yourself? You know, I don't feel the need to do that. I mean, you know, that goes with the old joke if I have sex with the real clone. Are you gay or used to live with yourself? You know? In an old joke. I I didn't. Never heard that one of them. Well, you know, if you're calling yourself having us having sex with your own clone. That's pretty. Would that make it homosexual? Oh goodbye. Okay. The whole thing is pretty disgusting. I think cloning is kind of disgusting. I I I'm not a fan of cloning. Having sex with your own clone know has really really really bad. So you've obviously thought a lot about it west of the Rockies, you're on the air. Hello. Hi. Hi there. How you doing? I'm calling from Honolulu. Ellie? I was mostly all right before the cloning. Call me too. Sort of turned my stomach at least. And I agree with you about Hollywood. They'll never change. Well, no, they might. But I mean, the only reason would be because that's what we want to pay to go see, but see that's what makes money is the sex and violence. Well, that's what we've paid to go to see exactly. And I also agree that music has to get back to its old or from, you know, your music. Yeah. I'd like I'd like you to play something by the Beatles sometime. Oh, I have plenty by the Beatles. Something by the Beatles. Oh, these something. Right. Right. Okay. Anyway, my prediction is that. Well, what is going to come to? It's going to be a pound from mcgeer. But my real prediction is that Cheney is gonna have to leave office because of illness. Well, he's been close to it already. It could certainly happen. I think probably by June. You know, nobody really sees Dick Cheney anymore. I know kind of like they're hiding them. I know I mean, I know why they do it. Sure. I'm with John F Kennedy and all that. But it's like you don't hear about what he's doing. We don't seem on TV. I know the normal. Vice president job is really bad any way, you know, what I mean, what does the vice president to do? But in this case, man, they probably get him locked away reading books somewhere. All right. So you believe Cheney will leave office bad health. Right. All right. Thank you. All right. Bye. That is prediction number officially number forty three. Well, of course, he has had health problems as you know. Wonder where he is. I suppose if you consider his health problems on the one hand, and in other words, he should probably be fairly sedentary. Anyway. They've probably got him hidden away just reading books or something. I mean, he is ten times less visible than normal vice president in normal. Vice president is barely visible. First time caller line. You're on the air. Good morning. Good morning, sir there to speak with you. And with you. Where are you? I'm in Vancouver. As a matter of fact, it's blue moon rising are yes. Yes. I have a a prediction it not a good one. Join the crowd. Yes. No, I do want. Everybody to realize that that forget about the Middle Eastern things in what we do have to concern ourselves a lot with is the third World War which actually began at the breaking down of the wall. Wait a minute. What do you mean? The third World War began when the wall came down. Well, I if we look back in history. We'll realize that when the third World War began. It was when the wall came down you already said that. But you didn't explain it. Well, the United States and Russia became friends and that left at the only other semi bega superpower, China, alone and shine a- will begin their March to become the one ruling country in the globe. And oh, you know. I I don't know about that. I think China is going to become the ruler of Asia. I think there's a very substantial possibility that China is going to become to Asia what we are to the Americas. And what a few select countries are to Europe. Certainly that process is underway right now. But as far as China taking over the whole world, I don't think so, but nevertheless will recorded first time caller line. You're on the air. Hi, art. Yeah. My name's Robert. I'm a trucker and South Carolina. Yes, sir. Yeah. Actually had a vision. Okay. And it's about the airlines. I tried to call you earlier that lost you. That prediction is that by October. There will only be one airline. And you're gonna have to be Ted Turner type Bill Gates or whatever. Even a Ford to fly up. Say. Really? One single airline left. Right. And it will mostly be controlled by the US government. Kinda like El, Al. Well, I firmly believe that the government will set up the flight patterns departure and arrival times fuelling points the whole nine yards. I mean, you're talking about one of America's major industries virtually disappearing so that only VIP's can fly. Exactly, that's a very serious prediction. And you know, that's not to say that there won't be the private privately owned, you know, single aircraft pilots out there that are gonna be out scab and fly here. And there I mean, you know, that there is a possibility for that. May I know I know, but to imagine I think I've got a thank you to imagine that the US would be reduced to one single carrier. That would basically be a government carrier government controlled to the degree that it would be government like El, Al. I sure hope not. Now, I would miss that a lot about America. Wouldn't you? Booking flights going online booking flights and. Seeing the competition out there between the airlines, can you imagine what a plane ticket would cost if only one airline existed. Can you imagine that man can first-time caller line? You are on the air. Hello. Hello. He got northbound Bob you're north northbound Bob from where baba northbound northbound at California eight okay? You're a California. Yes. I got a little prediction about, you know, the crop circles it was in Sheffield England. Oh, yes. All right. I got a dream the other day about it that someone triggered out how we could make one and try to communicate with them. So we we went up to a field. Fifty by seventy foot like a pitcher hierarchy glyphosate. I don't know how to explain it. But it was in by dream. Like you said Hello here. We are in a way that we sit. There CBA message. So you think we will start communicating with them? I'll put them in quotes with crop circles or gonna try we're gonna try, you know. You know, it's it's not a bad idea. Actually. I mean, if you consider the theory that crop circles aren't attempt to communicate with us that are here you go Mel signs, then why not try and communicate back using the same method. There you go communications key. We got we got to get some kind of help down here. Okay. Okay. You got it. Thank you very much. That's very intriguing and why not when you think about it. One of the main theories about crop circles is that they are a form or a type of communication if somebody could even decipher to the point of a beginning of an understanding of what they meant. Then one might indeed attempt to create a crop circle. That would communicate back in the same way. We're being communicated with if that's what it is very very, very interesting. Wildcard line. You're on the air. Oh going once going twice. Are you are there? What you sound like you're at the bottom of a digital barrel yet. I am sorry. Blonde jokes. Are you? You have watched blind blonde joke. A blonde joke. No, I stopped taking blonde jokes some time ago, east of the Rockies, you're on the air. Oh. Joe? Yes. Jeff. Okay. Jeff. Where are you? East? All right. I can't really say is e. This next year. Yes. Computers. Well, they already are. But it will be a learns that computers have become aware o- years suggesting and has already occurred. Do you know that for a fact? Would it will happen is they'll be a? An outcry for a Bill of rights for computers. Because of when I feel is going to be a terrible accident, are you? Let's see. How can I ask? This are you in the industry? Yes. And yours. Sincerely, telling me that we already have computers with self awareness awareness. Anything else? You can tell me. No. They're just like everybody else say they wonder. Where they came from. And what's going what's going to happen after they die? The appeal the same as we do. You know, somehow that sounds right? The moment you had self awareness. Your first question would be who am I why am I here that was that was one of the first questions? You're really serious. Aren't you really serious? I imagine sometime this year, it will be made to the public. What's? So it'll be in the mainstream press. You sure there's nothing else. You want to tell me? No. I can't. All right. Thank you. Thanks, take care. Oh now there was a call. Batman claims to have knowledge that we have already attained have made computers than have self awareness right now. And that all they're asking. Are the same. Same questions. We ask. How did we come to be here? Why are we here? What is our purpose? That has the ring of truth to it, doesn't it? Really does has the ring of truth to it? "Point nine south tapa. Once again into the dancing shadows. And east of the Rockies, we go you're on the air. Hello. How you doing? I'm doing. All right. Great. Great a little trouble to get through. But I'm glad I did you were troubled some time, you know, a lot of read island. You know, all it was troubled to get there. I see the prediction. They got I I'm not positive what it is. But there was something done in the area at a local, you know, a bio engineer. Yes. But I believe in the coming year, whether it's supernatural not I think we're gonna see some big strides in that. I don't know about supernatural. It may seem that way. With what we get at. So in other words, if they if they clone human being, which is quite likely this year. Not only would you not be surprised, but you would be pleased. Absolutely. I believe there's a lot of a lot of benefits, you know, there's many stem cell research. There's a lot of diseases that can be cured with this region. But what about the cloning the full cloning of human beings? I mean, that's where it's going. How do you feel about that? Well, I mean, you can look at it a bunch of different ways that the person that is raised that ways, obviously, the same genetically someone else. I mean that goes along with the old joke if I you have sex with the real clone. Are you gay or Houston live with yourself there? You know? An old joke. I didn't. Never heard that one. Yeah. Well, you know, if you calling yourself having us having sex with your own clone. That's pretty. Would that make it homosexual? Oh goodbye. The whole thing is pretty disgusting. I think cloning is kind of disgusting. I I'm not a fan of cloning. Having sex with your own clone know, that's really really really bad. So you've obviously thought a lot about it west of the Rockies, you're on the air. Hello. Hi there. How you doing? I'm calling from Honolulu. This is Ellie. And I also agree that music has to get back to its old, shape or form, you know, your music. Yeah. I'd like I'd like you to play something by the Beatles sometime. Oh, I have plenty by the Beatles. Now, something by the Beatles. Oh, the something. Right. Right. Okay. Anyway, my prediction is that. Well, what is going to come to? It's going to be a pound mcgeer. But my real prediction is that Cheney is going to have to leave office because of illness. Well, he's been close to it already. It could certainly happen. I think probably by June. You know, nobody really sees Dick Cheney anymore. I know it's kind of like they're hiding them. I know I mean, I know why they do it. Be sure what happened in. I'm John F Kennedy and all that. But it's like you don't hear about what he's doing. We don't see him on TV. The normal. Vice president job is really bad any way, you know, what I mean, what does the vice president get to do. But in this case, man, they probably got him locked away reading books somewhere. Yep. I mean, he is ten times less visible than normal vice president in the normal. Vice president is barely visible. First time caller line. You're on the air. Good morning. Our good morning, sir. Is there to speak with you? And with you. Where are you? I'm in Vancouver. As a matter of fact, it's blue moon rising. Oh, yes. Yes. I has a a prediction. It's not a good one. Join the crowd. Yes. No. I do want. Everybody to realize that forget about the Middle Eastern things in what we do have to concern ourselves a lot with is the third World War which actually began at the breaking down of the wall. Wait a minute. What do you mean? The third World War began when the wall came down. Well, I if. If we look back in history, we'll realize that when the third World War began it was when the wall came down said that, but you didn't explain it. Well, the United States and Russia became friends and that left at the only other semi Ega superpower, China alone and China will begin their March to become the one ruling country in the globe. And you know, I I don't know about that. I think China is going to become the ruler of Asia. I think there's a very substantial possibility that China is going to become to Asia what we are to the Americas. And what a few select countries are to Europe. Certainly that process is underway right now. But as far as China taking over the whole world, I don't think so, but nevertheless will. Recorded first time caller line. You're on the air. Hi, art. Yeah. My name's Robert trucker in South Carolina. Yes, sir. Yeah. Actually had a vision. Okay. And and it's about the airlines. I tried to call you earlier. I lost you. My prediction is that by October. There will only be one airline lab. You're going to have to be Ted Turner type Bill Gates or whatever. Even afford to fly up and say. Really? One single airline left. Right. And it will mostly be controlled by the US government. Kinda like El, Al. Well, I firmly believe that the government will set up the flight patterns departure and arrival times fuelling points at the whole nine yards. I mean, you're talking about one of America's major industries virtually disappearing so that only VIP's can fly. Exactly, that's a very serious prediction. "President Mike Pence vice President Mike Pence, and there are some great commentary. On what might pants because there's a photo. Of course. I don't jump on him for this. There's one picture where his eyes are closed could have been implanting. It looks like he's napping. Looks like he's trying to be the MLK bust right there. But he was sure silent and non-participatory. What what is he doing for the present? I mean is he just waiting out being vice president? So he can run for president. When Trump is no longer president. I mean, either in twenty twenty four or potentially earlier, I don't know. But I'm I don't understand it anymore. I'm suddenly confused about my pants. I get what everybody else does we all know that the vice president job is not know, it's a dignitary thing you go to funerals. You do these things, but why have him in the room? I neither wind up president somehow wind up staying of jail, and I just need to keep my shot and buried Dixit is focus Chelsea. Just shelter in place. And see if this passes over me, and that's it. That's that's a great. That's a great observation because you're you're right, Diane. And thank you for calling in that he has been implicated in lying about what he knew about general Flynn. And when he knew it apparently there are records that show the vice president Pence actually knew more about all this than he let on and so to your point. Maybe he's the opposite of Trump saying we'll just be silent about everything and hope they let the chips fall where they may as opposed to the president who's out on Twitter every day making it worse for himself. A couple of the funny tweets, by the way. From Scott Dworkin, who's at a Democratic Party activist funny. How was in that meeting, but you wouldn't notice he was like an embarrassed little kid dressed as a Christmas. Tree. In a second grade holiday play with no lines. Another tweet. "Pretty scary stuff bombs, or at least things that look like bombs being sent to prominent Democrats. There are hundreds if not thousands of law enforcement personnel trying to figure out who's behind this. And I'm sure they've already put together a profile or two, but I asked former FBI agent and terrorist hunter Brad Garret allow people are assuming because of the targets chosen by this bomber or potential bombers that it must be somebody who's a an extreme right winger. But law enforcement really can't assume anything can they know they certainly cannot assume anything that's because to assume that it's someone motivated by Trump talk could mean missing the real perpetrator, the FBI isn't interested in political blame and they're not concerned with what motivated the wannabe bomber unless it helps them find them. I retweeted NBC political reporter. Benji Saarland yesterday when he used a couple of examples to prove that you'd never really knows buying these things like those Jewish center bomb threats after the two thousand sixteen election actually from a disturbed teenager in Israel, those letters with rice and sent to the White House in two thousand fourteen by someone who is trying to frame the husband. "Of and you can paint yourself as the hero jury mitch mcconnell for all of it is very very good at knowing senate procedure is no doubt about that he knows how the rules work and how to play with them to his advantage no question that's not necessarily leadership one thing you gotta remember the reason we have mitch mcconnell and the reason we have speaker of the house paul ryan it's because for the most part no one else wanted those jobs remember they were trying to get rid of john banner is speaker of the house for a very long time and there are a couple of attempts to vote him out vote against john banner and who look at this in pundits were predicting the end of john banner it's all over this is going to be but they all fell apart and they didn't fall apart because john banner circled the wagons and john banner made sure he twisted arms and he stood up and he fought them off at the gates put debt poll of the drawbridge over the mote knows just know they fell apart because nobody else wanted the job it won that nobody else could do the job the java speaker a house is a pain in the but but it's a doable job being if frankly if if nancy pelosi in john paynter could do it anybody could do it but it's dealing with a lot of headaches it's it's it's like being the team leader with an obnoxious team trying to redesign the widget and none of them get along and you're the person they all come and complaining too it's not a thankless job it pays pretty well it's the highest paying non president and vice president job in government but you have to deal with everybody coming in one inning complaining dillion allied inge you give me this and i'm not going to give you that and i'll vote for this only if you do this it's a pain in the bud job end panda budget odds aren't necessarily difficult they aren't breaking concrete driveways home and away in a wheelbarrow or roofing quite frankly they are dealing with annoying entitled people but nancy pelosi wanted that job as speaker of the house harry reid wanted that job as majority leader in the united states senate mitch mcconnell god it because nobody helps wanted it paul ryan it eventually because enough members begged him.
